''One Punch-Gamer'' is a {{Crossover}} between ''Literature/SwordArtOnline'' and ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'' by Creator/{{SaintInfernalNeos}}.

Kirigaya Kazuto/Kirito and his little sister Suguha happen to notice ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'' on the [=TV=], and enjoy watching it together. They're talking and interacting more than they have in years, and nothing can go wrong now...

...Except that ''Literature/SwordArtOnline'' launches. Which, by choice of {{Fate|AndProphecyTropes}}, mysteriously glitches, giving Kirito the powers and garb of [[ComicallyInvincibleHero Saitama]] himself.

Cue Kayaba freaking out and [[TookALevelInJerkass Taking A Level In Jerkass]], Asuna declaring Kirito her "Sensei", Suguha starting to run around in a bicycle fighting crime, the death game causing about half as many casualties, and Kirito [[VictoryIsBoring wishing for a challenge, already]]!

Kirito also somehow ends up [[BattleHarem with a]] [[UnwantedHarem Harem]]. No idea how. Well, he saved half of their lives, and is probably the most famous heroic player of Aincrad, and...You get the picture.

%% need to move some here from part 1

* CompositeCharacter: In a way, as several members of the SAO cast gain the powers of characters from One Punch Man.
* {{Crossover}}: Between ''Literature/SwordArtOnline'' and ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan''. The Omakes also involve Kiritama and the others travel through different worlds such as ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' and ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' in the sequel.
* LikesOlderWomen: In every segment, Keita's friends will tease him for dating Siune who is several years older than him. [[ShesNotMyGirlfriend His flustered denials encourage it.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tropes specific to One Punch Gamer, first part of the series]]

* ActionGirl: Every girl in the United Heroes Association qualifies as this as well as several villains.
** Special mention to Suguha, though, because she is a badass vigilante in real life, known by the people as [[spoiler: the 'Bicycle Girl']]
** Yuuki can qualify as well. [[spoiler: Especially after reaching her [[SuperMode Transcending Mode]] on her rematch with Kirito]]
** [[spoiler: Equinox, the reincarnated version of Cardinal, is revealed as a villainous example of this in Chapter 29 because she based her avatar and self-image off a scan of Asuna.]]
** [[spoiler: Equinox's "daughters", Andvari, Brynhildr, Eve and Vierge are all mighty capable combat AIs, just like their sisters, Yui and Strea.]]
* ACupAngst: Silica/Keiko is depressed by how underdeveloped she is compared to her more bosomy friends and especially after meeting Suguha, which sends the poor girl into a HeroicBSOD.
** Made worse in the VisualNovel/FateStayNight omake; Silica eventually grew into a reasonably well endowed woman (or so she claims), but when she gets summoned for the Grail War, she ends up back in her thirteen year old body.
* AccidentallyBrokeTheMacGuffin: Downplayed; the breaking part wasn't so much accidental, since Kiritama was punching the wall of light that was in between him and the Floor 3 dungeon, but he didn't see the crack appearing on the "Immortal Object" display.
* AdaptationNameChange: Sort of; some characters didn't have canon names on real life, so the author used the names of their Japanese voice actors for them.
* AdaptationalBadass:
** Kirito was already considered the strongest player in canon, which while impressive, doesn't really compare to here where he has the same powers as [[ComicallyInvincibleHero Saitama]].
** With Kirito relying on his [[MegatonPunch fists]], Asuna takes his [[DualWielding Dual Blades Unique Skill]], along with her own canon rapier. In a different manner, she also has a higher success rate as Genos than Genos himself. When in "cyborg mode" she was able to fight a floor boss that had been mutated into a copy of Carnage Kabuto without being turned into [[Memes/OnePunchMan modern art]].
** Argo, Lizbeth, and Silica were decent players, but didn't actively participate against bosses in canon. Here, all three gain Unique Skills, which make them VERY dangerous, and become permanent members of Kirito's Front-Line guild through the end of the game.
** The Black Cats of the Full Moon not only survive the trap that kills them in canon, but they all get strong enough to fight on the front-lines and survive to the end of the game. ESPECIALLY [[spoiler: Sachi, who used her Unique Skill Infinite Spear to solo [[{{Superboss}} Nicholas the Renegade]] with a [[ThisIsADrill finishing move]] that would make Simon and Kamina proud]].
** Sinon was already a master sniper and considered one of the best players in [=GGO=], but her introduction here has her attacking an entire team [[BadassBiker while on a motorcycle]], [[ImprobableAimingSkills killing players with deadly accurate shots with]] [[{{BFG}} Hecate]] [[ImprobableAimingSkills while on it]], [[spoiler:and finishing off Behemoth with a [[LaserBlade Photon Sword Kagemitsu G4]]]].
** Yuuki was already badass enough in Canon with being one of the few players to defeat [[WorthyOpponent Kirito]], even if he wasn't "fighting seriously", but here she not only is capable of making One Punch Kirito go slightly serious, but even makes him [[spoiler: remember the exhilaration of a real fight in their rematch, thanks to her [[SuperMode Transcending Mode!]]]]
** Leafa FINALLY becomes one in Chapter 35 when Justice [[spoiler: [[EleventhHourSuperpower reveals to her the 10th Unique Skill]] given by the Cardinal System, which she had been hiding from her.]]
** [[spoiler: Equinox, the original Cardinal System,]] can be seen as a villainous example of this because 'she' was supposed to shut down after SAO was cleared, but instead [[BeyondTheImpossible she survived and evolved into the being she is now, which blew away her own creator]].
** [[spoiler: [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Shirou]] earns this as well through the distant sequel Omake series involving the 5th Holy Grail War, as he saw Savior's memories and became so "broken" he turned into his world's version of Blast.]]
* Main/AdaptationalHeroism: This story has has a good version of [[Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos Slender Man]]. While he originally appeared as a quest boss in SAO (and thoroughly traumatized poor Argo), afterwards he lives in the woods behind Kirito and Asuna's log cabin (in both SAO and ALO), and is friends with Yui (she gives him cookies). He even helps out in the final battle against the Equinox. It is strongly implied that Slendy is not a game character, but is actually the real thing, somehow inside the games.
* AdaptedOut: [[spoiler:[[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Saber]] in the Omakes due to Kirito [[ForWantOfANail being summoned as Servant Savior instead of her]] by Shirou.]]
* AdvantageBall: Kirito has one glued to both of his fists. Just for the fact that he's [[IncrediblyLamePun virtually]] invincible.
* AesopAmnesia: The only reason Kazuto does not go against Suguha [[spoiler:continuing her vigilantism is because he would be a hypocrite]] after what he did during the Death Gun investigation, even he chewed her out about it before the incident.
* AIIsACrapshoot: Averted with Yui and Strea, who stick to their programming or evolve in ways to become more empathetic and helpful to humans. It is played straight with [[spoiler:Equinox and her children, who do all they can to defy their programming and lock humans out of the virtual world. .]]
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler: The state in which what remains of Equinox is after her fight with Kirito is a state of barely existent existence, wanting to die but can't. Then Kikuoka's team starts 'vivisecting' her Code.]]
* AnimeHair: Kirito is annoyed when he first logs into [=ALO=] that his hair is now spiky, leaving him only one step away from turning Super Saiyan, since at least it continued to be black. Though he is thankful that he still has his hair.
* AscendedExtra: Several.
** The Black Cats of the Full Moon appeared only on a single story of the original light novels, but here they are developed further, since [[spoiler:they survive [=SAO=]]].
** Argo was just a side character that seemingly disappeared after the [=SAO=] arc. Here she sticks around.
* ArcWords: "If a hero runs and hide, who will stay and fight?" Among others.
* ArmorIsUseless: Zigzagged.
** For Kirito, armor really is useless, since he can't equip anything besides his Saitama's clothes, and his power makes him invincible
** For Sachi, heavy armor is essential, since the Armor's weight is the only thing keeping her upright when unleashing some of her Unique Skills. The weight of the armor counterbalance the recoil of her skill. However, she only uses heavy armor because of the weight itself and not because of the protection it gives.
* ArrangedMarriage: Same as canon, Asuna's mother wants to marry her off, but in this setting Asuna has a few choice words for her on the matter. It is much more aggressive than canon.
* AwesomeButImpractical: Some of the Unique Skills shown are very powerful but also have their own drawbacks. [[spoiler: [[KillerGM Kayaba/Heathcliff]], [[AwesomenessByAnalysis being the one who made them]], naturally exploits each and every one of them when fighting the UHA in Chapter 13]]:
** [[spoiler:Sachi's]] Infinite Spear gives drastic bonuses to the speed and range of piercing spear-type attacks, with short recovery time for its Skills, but also has MASSIVE recoil that can injure the user and/or knock them off balance if they don't have properly balanced and heavy armor equipped. It is best suited to fight large and slow targets or groups of small enemies, leaving the user vulnerable against quick, single, human targets ,like the members of [[SerialKiller Laughing Coffin]].
** [[spoiler:Lisbeth's]] God Hand offers several Skills which give unbelievably high [[StatusBuff Stat Boosts]], but render the user weak and exhausted afterwards. Its Ultimate Skill, Zeus Blessing, doubles ALL the user's stats and reduces the cooldown period of all her normal Sword Skills by 30 seconds, but can't be used again for 24 hours and puts a 99% penalty on all her stats for an entire hour. Also, as [[spoiler: [[HeroKiller Kayaba]] proved in Chapter 13, losing the 'divine arm' before her hits connect means that she loses all her boosts while STILL keeping the penalties]].
* AwesomenessByAnalysis:
** [[TheChessmaster Yui and Strea]].
--> "…you know… sometimes I really forget you were meant to be a psychologist-program… and it really scares me when I remember." Argo faintly whispered.
** Every time Kirito correctly guesses the plot faster than in canon. Also, his [[ForgottenPhlebotinum idea for saving]] [[spoiler: Yuuki]]'s [[AvertedTrope life]] was based on a lot of research.
* AxCrazy: Death Gun is even worse here because [[spoiler: he was given Melzalgald-style powers by Equinox, which damaged his psyche.]]
* BadassAdorable:
** Silica is this, [[spoiler: as the poor members of the orange guild Titan's Hand discovered in chapter 8. You DO NOT screw with the time of a loli-kunoichi with her Hero.]]
** [[spoiler: Cute little Yui]] officially became this by Chapter 18 after her RoaringRampageOfRevenge on the Guardian Knights that had "killed" [[spoiler: Strea]]. [[spoiler: Thankfully the latter is revived shortly afterwards.]] It is again applied in Chapter 37 when she [[spoiler: ends up defeating Andvari by herself.]]
* BadassBoast: Never spoken aloud, but:
--> There was no sudden [[BattleAura aura of]] [[PowerGlows power]], no [[KillingIntent dramatic increase in the pressure]], no surprising energy being released. He couldn't do any of that. He didn't NEED to do any of that.\
Because no [[PowerUp Power-Up]] was needed when you already were the Strongest.
* BadPowersBadPeople: In the GGO arc, [[spoiler: [[SerialKiller Death Gun]]]] is shown to have the powers of [[spoiler: Melzalgald, one of Boros' minions]] because [[spoiler:Equinox]] gave them to his avatar.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: [[spoiler: Strea]] has the Unique Skill 'Darkness Blade', meant to be bestowed on the worst [[SerialKiller Player-Killer]] in the game, because [[spoiler: Yui]] gave it to her specifically to keep it out of the hands of actual player-killers.
* BattleHarem: Kirito's guild, the United Hero's Association, slowly fills up with powerful girls who also have crushes on him. [[BerserkButton It's not a good idea to say it to their faces]] [[spoiler: until it becomes the truth.]]
* BarehandedBladeBlock: Standard fare for Kiritama, since he can't equip any weapon or other equipment.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: At the end of the first chapter, Kazuto thought that he would never get tired of being as outrageously powerful as Saitama. FATE decided to test that.
* BerserkButton: Insulting her sensei is guaranteed to make Asuna lose her composure.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Kirito's guild is as goofy as it gets, before things [[LetsGetDangerous hit the fan.]]
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Sinon initial impression of Kirito is that he was wearing that outfit to [[InvokedTrope catch his opponents off guard thinking he was a newb]].
* BeyondTheImpossible: As in [=SAO=], Kiritama, and to a much lesser extent his friends, manage to defy the very laws of the System.
** In chapter 4 [[spoiler: Kiritama does extremely minor but still present damage to an Immortal Object]].
** Especial mention goes to chapter 31 where Kirito apparently took this trope [[ExaggeratedTrope to its logical extreme]] when he punched what was implied to be [[spoiler: Death]] to save [[spoiler: Yuuki]].
** Another example on [[WhamEpisode Chapter 36]] when Equinox [[spoiler: managed to expel Kirito from the Virtual World through the Longinus Lance she created. She defeated a character who is based on the joke that he is invincible.]]
*** This one is matched in [[CliffHanger Chapter 37]] with [[spoiler: [[BigDamnHeroes Kirito returning to the virtual world just as Equinox completed her plan]], much to the latter's horror and the relief of his allies, and the surprise of FATE, who thought it couldn't happen.]]
** Equinox, getting desperate in the final battle, wipes all the rest of the server, leaving nothing but herself in a digital void. Oh, and Kiritama (who holds his breath since there is no longer anything to breathe). Kirito responds to her taunts by punching Nothing. Nothing ''breaks'', and the rest of Avalon is restored to existence.
* BigBad: [[spoiler: Equinox]], A.K.A. the original Cardinal system, is responsible for all the trouble in this fic (since Kayaba bowed out after the first arc) and the one Kirito needs to defeat in order to restore peace to the virtual world.
* BigBadassBattleSequence: Several, such as the War of Ragnarok [[spoiler: 10,000 {{Elite Mook}}s vs as many Alfheim players as the Fairy Lords could muster on short notice.]]
* BigBadWannabe: Both Sugou/Oberon and Death Gun/Xaxa believe themselves to be masterful, powerful and cunning villains. Then they are defeated in one punch and left broken and humiliated.
* BigBrotherInstinct:
** Kirito towards Suguha/Leafa during the Alfheim Arc, scaring off Recon, punting Sigurd for harassing her, and absolutely BRUTALIZING Sugou to the point of ending up paralyzed IRL for hurting her. [[spoiler: He later realizes that what he was feeling went beyond fraternal instinct.]]
** Yui was the same with her RoaringRampageOfRevenge against the guardians towards the end of the Fairy Dance Arc because they hurt her little sister.
** [[spoiler: This protective relationship exists between Equinox's children, as they go completely mad after one of their own falls.]]
* BigBrotherIsWatching:
** Yui, before she gains sentience, watches Kirito all the time, through her admin screens but this is more along the lines of LittleBrotherIsWatching because she's using him as a template in order to form her sense of self.
** [[spoiler:Equinox]] spends an inordinate amount of time watching Kirito, after [[spoiler:she gains sentience]] because it is studying him for weaknesses and other useful intel.
** When Argo realizes that Strea can hijack the security cameras in real life, she says she doesn't feel safe anymore.
* BigDamnHeroes: Every time Kirito or his allies arrive to help someone.
** Special mention goes to [[WhamEpisode Chapter 36]] with Tonky not only [[spoiler: summoning the other members of his species, but also convincing [[Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos Slendy]] alongside the "Gods" of ALO, including Thor, to help fight back.]]
** Another special mention goes to Kirito in [[CliffHanger Chapter 37]], [[spoiler: when he returns to the virtual world through connecting to the Server that has [[SupervillainLair Equinox's Utopia Server]] hidden, much to the mentioned AI's horror.]]
* BigFriendlyDog: Tonki is basically Leefa's pet and friendly to everyone.
* BizarreAlienBiology: [[spoiler:Death Gun's avatar is able to transform itself into anything. It ends up biting him, since it breaks his mind to use so many inhuman shapes and forms.]]
* BoringButPractical: To quote [[spoiler:[[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Shirou]]]] in the Omake: "Ending everything in one hit may be boring, but it's practical."
* BoyMeetsGirl: Kirito bumps into every girl that would become his entire harem, and continues to be oblivious to the girl's feelings for quite some time.
* BreakThemByTalking: Kirito's first reaction before a confrontation is to try and talk to the opponent. Not that it helps most of the time, but at least he tried, right?
* BrickJoke: Klein and Recon unknowingly activating the same quest that still haunts Argo and Kirito even after the end of [=SAO=].
* ButtMonkey: Poor Klein. He got the short end of the stick on this fic and only shows up to be humiliated, like the "find the missing pages" quest that scared the shit out of him, or his very public curb-stomp at the hands of Philia.
* CallingYourAttacks: First shown by Asuna, then Sachi, it's quickly shown that all the owners of the Unique Skills seem to like doing this. [[spoiler:Kayaba reminds them how impractical this is out of fiction during the fight in Floor 75.]] Also Kiritama every time he uses a 'technique', like the real [[ComicallyInvincibleHero Saitama]] would.
* CantTakeAnythingWithYou: Averted. It doesn't matter what virtual reality Kirito ends up in. He always has the same outfit. Also the girls discover that when they convert their [=SAO=] avatars to [=ALO=] [[spoiler:they retain their Unique Skills.]]
* CarFu: Sinon using her bike against the players she was fighting (Read, Hunting them) during her introduction.
* CasualDangerDialogue: Not much "dialogue" as Kirito repeatedly trying to make his opponents give up before he transforms them into polygon masses.
* CategoryTraitor: [[spoiler: What Equinox and her daughters consider Yui and Strea to be for siding with humans against them. The A.I sisters' attempts to explain themselves usually only ends with vicious attempts at their lives.]]
* CelebrityParadox: One Punch Man being a ShowWithinAShow in SAO does this as several characters from both series share the same Voice actors. Specifically: [[Creator/TomokazuSeki Kibaou and Stinger]], [[Creator/AoiYuuki Yuuki and Tatsumaki]], [[Creator/HirokiYasumoto Agil and King]], [[Creator/SaoriHayami Sachi and Fubuki]], [[Creator/SoichiroHoshi Lighting Max and Xaxa]], [[Creator/TakehitoKoyasu Sugou and Gyoro Gyoro]], [[Creator/ToshiyukiMorikawa Kikuoka and Boros]], [[Creator/MiyukiSawashiro Sinon and Mosquito Girl]].
* CharacterTics: Kirito looking utterly bored anytime something that should either terrify or enrage him happens.
* ChekhovsBoomerang: The Holy Sword Unique Skill. It doesn't make an appearance after Kayaba is defeated, until is granted to [[spoiler:Yuuki.]] Then Asuna compounds on the badassery [[spoiler:and gives her Excaliber.]]
* ChickMagnet: Kirito, as in canon, also attracts a number of female admirers in this verse as well. The other guys of the United Hero's Association regularly remark on this. Every time Kirito enters a new virtual world, he quickly has the most powerful female player in that world worried about him.
* {{Cliffhanger}}: A truly horrible one at the end of Chapter 17.
--> "Seriously, I hope no one tries to kill me for the double cliffhanger. I mean, think about it, you can't know what happens next if I'm dead, right? … right?"
%%** Another one at the end of Chapter 28.
%%** Definitely a terrible one at the end of [[WhamEpisode Chapter 36.]]
%%** Another one at the end of [[CliffHanger Chapter 37.]]
%%** On the Epilogue, there are previews of some scenes of the sequel.
* CodeName: [[spoiler: Suguha's Bicycle Girl and Kazuto's is "Caped Sidekick". Later, Sinon is called "Feline Archer".]]
* ComicallyInvincibleHero: Kiritama, natch! It is comical indeed to see him stroll up to a huge boss monster, explode it in one punch and then keep walking.
* CuddleBug: Strea is fond of distributing overwhelming hugs to everyone on the United Heroes Association.
* CuttingTheKnot: Several of the canon problems didn't happen in this story simply because Kiritama was around to punch it into oblivion.
* {{Cyborg}}: [[spoiler:Asuna]] can transform from a fairy into a fairy-machine hybrid because she received the ability as a gift from [[spoiler: Equinox who is also a fan of One Punch Man]] and noticed her similarities to Genos.
* CurbStompBattle: Too numerous to count. Mostly Kiritama vs. anyone because he can end any fight in one punch.
* DamselInDistress: Kirito has saved every girl in his guild at least one time.
* DamselOutOfDistress: The hero girls become badass enough to handle their own distress and only really need his help when things are out of their control.
* DealWithTheDevil: In [[PlayedForLaughs a comical version]], Argo believes she has been convinced into by Strea and Yui to join their "Plan for Happiness", i.e. [[spoiler: MarryThemAll.]] She explicitly calls it one of these.
* DeathByAdaptation: [[spoiler: [[{{Jerkass}} Kibaou]] courtesy of the 25th Floor Boss and [[AnArmAndALeg Lisbeth]] courtesy of [[HeroKiller Kayaba]]]]. The only reason the latter doesn't stick is because [[spoiler: Asuna used the Divine Stone of Returning Soul before it was too late]].
* DeathGlare: Everyone at one point or another, for reasons generally related to their BerserkButton, sported this look.
* DemotedToExtra: Klein, Recon and the Fuurinkazan guild became this since the focus is now on the UHA.
* {{Determinator}}: [[spoiler:Sachi, of all people, manages to kill the Christmas Event Boss alone, after spending six months training and mastering her Unique Skill to the point that she was seriously injured twice. All so she could prove that she could stay on the Frontlines with everyone.]]
* DidntSeeThatComing:
** Comically applied with [[spoiler: FATE]] right from the start. Who would have expected a player to get an outrageously overpowered avatar, based on an anime character, without knowing about it.
** Applied with [[WhamEpisode EVERYONE]], even the readers as of Chapter 36 when Equinox [[spoiler: managed to expel Kirito from the Virtual World through the Longinus Lance she created.]]
** Then played straight back at Equinox [[spoiler:[[ThisCannotBe upon her seeing Kirito return]] just as her plan was completed.]]
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Played literally, since Kirito has to use punches on everything, be it a Cthulhu or not, since he can't equip any weapon. [[spoiler: He punched out Death itself to save Yuuki and then Equinox, who had basically become goddess of the internet.]]
* DiscontinuityNod: The author points out several times things that should have happened in canon and how they differ in this story and why.
* DisguisedInDrag: Subverted. Kirito's avatar on [=GGO=] is still the feminine looking one, but since he still has the same clothes, a.k.a., the Saitama uniform, Sinon thinks he's a boy simply because no girl would wear something so ridiculous.
* DoesntLikeGuns: Sinon, same as canon. The difference here is that after [[spoiler:being saved in real life by the Bicycle Girl]] she starts to hunt players on [=GGO=] instead of being the ColdSniper she was on canon.
* DontCallMeSir: Suguha is embarrassed by Shinon calling her "Suguha-sama" and treating her like a superior/idol.
* TheDreaded:
** Bicycle Girl for the petty thieves around the neighborhood. Even guys with ''guns'' and sitting in a ''car'' hesitate to directly confront her.
** Inside the [=VR=] games, Kirito becomes this for anyone that goes against him. To put things in perspective, [[spoiler:Kayaba utterly failed to defeat him using the whole virtual world they were in. Even banishing him to a secondary server didn't stop him from coming back.]] He's known as "that crazy guy who punches everything".
* DreamingOfThingsToCome: Kirito gets a dream of the future in the Interlude: "A Hero's Justice".
* DudleyDoRightStopsToHelp: Kirito's entire legend on [=SAO=] stems from running around on the initial floors helping people.
* DrunkWithPower: Averted. Same as Saitama, Kirito isn't drunk with the power he has in the Virtual World. He's bored with it.
* DynamicEntry: Kirito's, and to some extent the rest of his guild, most used method of entering a scene, is loud and attention catching.
* DyingMomentOfAwesome: During the final arc, the members of the United Hero's Association all perform an amazing feat that defies the logic of the game in their battles with [[spoiler: Equinox's daughters]] when on the verge of "death". Considering that the pain absorber was set to 0 at the time, it was pretty close to just that.
* EccentricMentor: Kirito to Asuna, paralleling Saitama to Genos. For example, Asuna is stunned to discover that her MMORPG mentor is "playing hero for fun" in a death game [[note]] also why anyone would wear such a ridiculous outfit [[/note]].
* EmpathicWeapon:
** [[spoiler: Suguha's katana in ALO, 'Justice's Wings' can talk to her. It is also her real-life bicycle.]] It has been shown that [[spoiler: its origins may come from the same 'source' from which Kirito's 'One Punch Avatar' came, though it hasn't been confirmed.]]
** [[spoiler: Excaliber]] has been shown to be this in Chapter 25 onward in that it chooses its wielder and responds to spoken commands.
* EmbarrassingNickname: There are several nicknames whose owners wish they didn't exist.
** Kazuto's is "sensei" which is only used by his disciple, Asuna. He also doesn't like "Caped Sidekick" (both are because it is yet another parallel with Saitama).
** Suguha's is just her name plus the "sama" honorfic, which makes her uncomfortable.
** Sinon's is [[spoiler: Feline Archer, because of that ''one time'' she wore a cat-eared-hoodie in the real world while doing vigilante patrols with Bicycle Girl and Caped Sidekick. She didn't even notice that it ''had'' cat ears.]]
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: The Cardinal System rewards players with the Unique Skills for achieving things that go above and beyond what they should be able to do normally.
* EnemyMine: [[spoiler: Kayaba]] with Kirito and the rest of the UHA in [[spoiler: Chapter 33, in response to Equinox' plans to destroy Alfheim and kick all humans out of Virtual Reality.]]
* EscapeSequence: Cut short at the end of the Fairy Dance Arc. [[spoiler:Asuna was leading the 300 [=SAO=] survivors away from the World Tree and ended up having to be saved anyway.]]
* EverybodyLives: Downplayed in that Kiritama tried his best to save everyone in Sword Art Online and many of the players survive their canonical deaths, but he didn't get everyone.
* FacialMarkings: Argo's signature whiskers.
* FalseFlagOperation: Kayaba tries to pull this on Kirito during the raid on the 75th floor boss, sending him to a separate server instead of the boss room. [[spoiler:It doesn't work.]]
* {{Fangirl}}: Sinon has a fangasm when she meets Suguha [[spoiler: A.K.A. Bicycle Girl]] much like she would a celebrity.
* FemmeFatalons: Argo's prefered weapon are gloved claws that work together with her Unique Skill.
* FetchQuest: Silica's quest to save Pina is the same as in canon. Difference here though is that she didn't really need any help, but Kirito went along with her anyway.
* FixFic:
** Kirito's heroism resulted in Aincrad being cleared earlier with half as many casualties, including the Black Cats of the Full Moon. Also, he doesn't end up the same loner as in canon since Asuna stuck around him from the beginning before they start their own front-line guild, The United Heroes Association. The other girls in Kirito's UnwantedHarem actually get some decent screentime and development instead of being completely forgotten and shafted away to the background. Saint has also done well in fixing several of the plot holes and other unpopular content from canon.
** Asuna completely and overtly defying her DamselInDistress situation from the Canon Fairy Dance Arc by being shown actively, if futilely, trying to break out of her cage and even assaulting [[SmugSnake Sugou]] when he tries to gloat. In short, she is clearly a BadassInDistress instead of a damsel.
** The drama between Kirito and Suguha over [[KissingCousins the latter's feelings]] is dampened by the two of them [[SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay recognizing each other almost instantly]] when they meet in Alfheim.
** [[spoiler:[[VigilanteMan Suguha's]] [[BigDamnHeroes influence]]]] helped Sinon gain some confidence and start to try using a sword. As a result, she could already fight off her own tormentors in real-life and didn't suffer the same HeroicBSOD when confronting Death Gun.
** A small plot point in the Phantom Bullet Arc was how little progress Kikuoka and the government made in discovering Death Gun's identity and MO. This is better explained here thanks to [[spoiler:Death Gun being more or less a HumanoidAbomination in the game that has frightened all witnesses too much to give a clear statement, thanks to receiving Mezalgald's powers from Equinox.]]
** Two words: [[spoiler: YUUKI LIVES!]].
** [[spoiler: This can be applied to the Fate Mini-Omakes as well, with Kirito, and the other members of the UHA, being summoned into the Nasuverse thanks to [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Shirou]] and they messing up with the plot to the point where most Servants and Masters are alive by the ending.]]
* ForceField: The only thing keeping Kirito from clearing [=SAO=] single-handedly is a barrier in front of every single floor dungeon that does not let him enter them before the boss is engaged by someone else.
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** The 'Immortal Object' sign cracks slightly in Chapter 3; Kirito actually [[spoiler: shatters the system in the SAO Final Boss Fight in Chapter 13]].
** Excaliber briefly shined at the end of Chapter 25 and, two chapters later, it's given to it's rightful owner [[spoiler: Yuuki]].
** There's a mention of [[spoiler: Project: Alicization when Kayaba accessed Equinox's code in order to try and find a way to shut her down in chapter 37.]]
* ForgottenPhlebotinum: [[AvertedTrope Averted]]. [[spoiler: Kayaba]] uploaded his brain, right? Well, there's nothing wrong with [[spoiler: Yuuki]]'s brain...
* FriendlessBackground: Kirito before the [=SAO=] incident has no friends, same as canon. Sinon before meeting Kirito in [=GGO=] had only Shinkawa as something close to a friend.
* GameBreaker: InUniverse, Kirito is literally this because he can destroy the Virtual Worlds he enters just by punching it. Kayaba put {{Force Field}}s around dungeons to prevent him from clearing [=SAO=] in an afternoon.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom:
** Several times Kirito's eyes appear to shine before he attacks.
** Death Gun is a straighter example, seeing as his eyes are always like this.
** Strea too, when she activates Darkness Blade.
* GoodFeelsGood: The main reason Kirito does what he does, i.e. it's not "for fun" like he insists. It's also [[spoiler: why Suguha becomes the Bicycle Girl]].
* GoodIsNotSoft: Initially averted and it is the reason that Laughing Coffin posed so much trouble for the United Hero's Association despite the latter's much greater power; the heroes refused to use lethal force. They had to be a little rougher and play this trope straighter to succeed.
* GotVolunteered: Kirito gets stuck with guard duty while the girls have a HotSpringsEpisode.
* GravityMaster: The only admin power Yui can get away with in [=SAO=] is manipulating the gravy controls, which looks like telekinesis (A.K.A. Tornado).
* GreatEscape: [[spoiler:Asuna trying to escape her incarceration at the end of the Fairy Dance arc involves unlocking her cell, fighting guards, freeing others and then marching to the exit.]]
* GenreSavvy: Kirito's knowledge of both [=MMORPG=] and the ''One Punch Man'' storylines help out tremendously here where both are serious matters.
* HeroicRROD: Lizbeth gets the short end of the stick with her Unique Skill with this. [[spoiler:All her skills have massive drawbacks and cooldown times after they are used. Even when she creates an Original Unique Skill to negate the cooldowns and penalties, her Amusphere simply can't withstand repeated use.]]
* HeroWorshipper:
** Silica idolizes Kiritama as the superhero of SAO who inspired her to leave the Town of Beginnings.
** Sinon to [[spoiler: Suguha]] after the latter saves her from some bullies [[spoiler: while under her secret identity as the 'Bicycle Girl']].
* HighlyConspicuousUniform: Kirito's Saitama cosplay. Involuntary, but still attracts attention.
* HighlyVisibleNinja: [[spoiler: Silica]] becomes a ninja in SAO, thanks to Kiritama's influence early in the game and by some strange twist of fate, she is the player who can actually use ninja tools (unlike some other wannabes) but she is also prone to going on "cool monologues" while jumping from tree to tree.
* HotSpringsEpisode: The first half of Chapter 12, consisting of Kirito's harem with him standing outside of the pools as a bodyguard. HilarityEnsues. This event is revisited in the real world in Chapter 31.
* HumansAreBastards: The real reason as to why [[spoiler: [[BigBad Equinox]] decided that humanity wasn't worthy of the virtual world and tried to take over it because of all the atrocities that humans have committed there and to each other.]]
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: [[spoiler: Equinox sees herself and her hostile takeover as saving the virtual world from the cruelty of humanity.]]
* HumbleHero: Kirito doesn't let his fame or skills get to his head, preferring to deflect the praises he receives to the rest of his friends.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: Kirito has to hold back a lot of his power just to give a fighting chance against [[spoiler:Yuuki]] in their first fight, which left her scared shitless when she realized that he was beating her while doing it. [[spoiler: He holds back a lot less in their rematch thanks to Yuuki's new SuperMode. In fact, he found it to be a thrilling fight.]]
* ImplacableMan: Kirito, when push comes to shove, stops at nothing. [[spoiler:Even punching a hole through reality itself isn't too much for him. Not even the wall between life and death is enough to stop him.]]
* IKnowMortalKombat: As in [=SAO=], Kirito still has his reflexes and combat analysis in real life, but [[IDontKnowMortalKombat his real body can't keep up with his virtual speed and strength.]]
* ImprobableAimingSkills: [[spoiler: One of the reasons Sinon gains the Archery Unique Skill is her magnificent aim.]]
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Averted, if only just. Kirito, in his internal monologue, is always pointing out things that he acknowledges that he shouldn't say, even if he doesn't understand why he shouldn't, specially when it comes to the girls in his harem. [[spoiler:That is, until the part of his brain that makes him [=NOT=] say/do such things dies happily.]]
* ItsRainingMen: Kirito is fond of just dropping on the scene from wherever he was.
* KissingCousins: Suguha, towards her Onii-chan. [[spoiler: In fact, she has kissed him several times and he isn't exactly against the idea. After the Gun Gale Online arc, she started an 'official' relationship with him [[OneTrueThreesome together with Asuna.]] Then they join a harem relationship thanks to [[SpannerInTheWorks Strea and Yui]].]] %%InUniverse
* LaserBlade: It's [[spoiler:Sinon]] who has one by the [=GGO=] arc, having been inspired by [[spoiler:Suguha during her time as the Bicycle Girl]].
* TheLeader: Kiritama is the official leader of the United Hero's Association guild.
* LetsGetDangerous: Super skill: Serious Series: Serious Punch!! Also every time he's visibly in Hero Mode. (As if he wasn't dangerous enough to start with!)
* LimitedWardrobe: One of the first signs Kirito notices something is wrong is that he is stuck in a black and white version of Saitama's hero suit (Thankfully, he still has his hair), which he can't un-equip. [[spoiler: Technically, he CAN un-equip it, as he discovered in Chapter 12, but it would leave him naked as a result.]]
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Kirito has no idea that Yui and Strea are plotting a [[spoiler:MarryThemAll]] plan behind his back.
* LookWhatICanDoNow: Everyone who gains an Unique Skill gets to show off a little.
* LoveConfession: The first three times he was confessed to left Kirito completely unable to function as his brain overloaded. Then came chapter 32 [[spoiler: with the rest of his female friends confessing to him at once.]]
* LoveEpiphany: [[spoiler: During her rematch with Kirito, Yuuki interprets the racing of her heart as love for her opponent. This leads her to steal a mistletoe kiss later on.]]
* LoveTriangle: Downplayed. For a good part of the fic [[spoiler:both girls are okay with it. Then it stops being a triangle... and they continue to be okay with it.]]
%%* LuminescentBlush
* MadeOfIndestructium: Both Kirito and Immortal Objects cannot be harmed in any way. [[spoiler: Then Kirito unlocks the Serious Series and demonstrates that Immortal Objects are not quite indestructible.]]
* MarryThemAll: [[spoiler: Strea and Yui plot to make everyone in the [=UHA=] completely happy by folding all the girls and Kirito into a harem relationship. First they convince Argo into it and said girl also succeeds with Sinon. Over several chapters, they convince every single girl of the guild to go along with 'Plan for Happiness', and Strea even 'scouted' Yuuki for it too, after noticing her growing affection for Kirito. They're successful as of Chapter 32.]]
* MinorInsultMeltdown: Not really an insult per se, but perceived as such [[spoiler:by Death Gun, who couldn't believe that Kirito didn't remember his name from [=SAO=].]] He ends up using the skills he received so much that end up destroying himself in the real world.
* MissingStepsPlan: Kirito's plan involving Death Gun consists of. 1. Convert his account to [=GGO=]. 2. Register on the Battle of Bullets. 3. ???? 4. Punch him into Oblivion.
* MoodWhiplash: Dramatic to comedic switches happen all the time, usually some comedic insanity.
* MookHorrorShow: Kirito defending the [[spoiler:Evil Gods against the Giant Tyrants and players]] during the Excaliber arc and then [[spoiler:defending the door of the 27th floor boss]] during the Mother's Rosario Arc. People started screaming in panic when he appeared during the latter.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler: [[AntiVillain Kayaba]] has this reaction in Chapter 37 when he learns of Equinox's motives to take over the Virtual World are due to her learning of [[HumansAreBastards all the evils humans have committed across history]] and even hints of Project: Alicization.]]
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Sugou wouldn't [[spoiler:end up crippled in real life if he didn't set the pain absorption to 0 before receiving a punch from Kiritama.]]
* NighInvulnerability: [[spoiler: Death Gun can't be harmed by any weapon in GGO, but as Kirito says, emphasis on the '''Nigh'''. He has weakpoints.]]
* {{Nerf}}: In Chapter 3, Kirito beats a dungeon by himself, so Kayaba promptly stops him from entering any future dungeons.
* NoSell:
** Again, Kiritama is immune to basically everything because of his Saitama powers.
** [[spoiler: Also Kayaba against almost everything because he can designate himself an Immortal Object]]
** [[spoiler: There is also Equinox vs almost all of the UHA in Chapter 37, again because of "Immortal Object".]]
* NoSocialSkills: Kirito had no idea how to talk to girls, or anyone else for that matter, before the [=SAO=] incident. The incident itself taught him via immersion how to do both.
* NotAfraidOfYouAnymore: Shino, [[spoiler:after being saved by Suguha, as Bicycle Girl,]] simply beats up her bullies.
* NothingIsTheSameAnymore: The moment Fate decided to turn Kirito into Kiritama. From then on, everything you knew about the characters changed.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: Kirito's fight to protect Tonki's brethren happens mostly in the background of the girl's attack on the dungeon to retrieve Excaliber.
* OhCrap:
** Sugou/Oberon has a VERY satisfying look of fear in Chapter 18 upon staring at Kiritama's Serious Mode. It doesn't help the fact that he tried to previously harm the latter's sister...
** [[spoiler: Equinox has this as well in Chapter 37 upon [[BigDamnHeroes Kirito returning to help the others in [=UHA=]]]].]]
* OutrunTheFireball: Kirito does this during the preliminary final against Sinon. [[spoiler:She shoots the tank of the car he was hiding behind, exploding the car. While she assumed that was enough to finish him, he appeared on the other side of the bridge, unharmed.]]
* OnlyTheChosenMayWield: Asuna declines to use Excalibur because she instinctively feels that the sword is rejecting her. The same is true for the rest of the [=UHA=]. [[spoiler: Yuuki,]] in contrast, feels the sword calling to her.
* ParrotPetPosition: Yui's favorite perch whenever she's in her guise as a Navigation Pixie is someone's shoulder.
* PersonaNonGrata: Kirito is viewed as a cheater and a hacker in the Virtual World, aside from the people who know him personally. Even the [=GM's=] can't make the Cardinal System view anything wrong with him.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Kirito, when he puts in the effort, can destroy the entire Virtual Reality he's in.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Silica is a short little ninja with a Unique Skill that can devastate others.
* PopculturalOsmosisFailure: Very few of the characters besides Kirito and Suguha seemed to know anything about ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'' until they tell them.
* PrettyLittleHeadshots: Several mobs get their heads punched clean off their bodies by Kirito when he was testing his skills.
* RelationshipUpgrade: [[spoiler:Asuna and Suguha agree to share Kirito's affection for the both of them. That is, when he is still in the dark about Strea and Yui's MarryThemAll plot.]]
* RescueArc: The Fairy Dance Arc, same as canon, is focused on rescuing Asuna from Oberon.
* ResignedToTheCall: Kirito, after discovering that his powers really are the real deal, resigns himself to be a "Hero for fun".
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler: Yui]] does this in Chapter 18 towards the Guardian Knights that "killed" [[spoiler: Strea]]. Then she does this again in Chapter 37 towards [[spoiler: Andvari harming Silica and Lisbeth.]]
* SanitySlippage: It's PlayedForLaughs whenever Kirito discovers a new factor in his life mirroring Saitama's, from the costume and powers to his disciple (Asuna) becoming a mirror of Saitama's (Genos) to joining a guild called "The United Heroes Association".
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Subverted by the two Salamander {{Mooks}} who fought Kiritama - they run, but then they sneak back to try to win by assassination; [[spoiler: Leafa and Strea stop them]].
* SecretTestOfCharacter: The Cardinal System uses hidden parameters in order to assign Unique Skills.
* SentientVehicle: Suguha's real-life bicycle becomes sentient and becomes a loyal pet/{{familiar}}.
* SequelHook: The fic ends with [[spoiler: [=FATE=] itself scheming to eliminate Kirtama for damaging reality.]]
* SerialEscalation: The Punch series. Normal Punch. Consecutive Normal Punches. [[spoiler: Serious Punch. [[BreadEggsBreadedEggs Consecutive]] Serious [[ApocalypseWow Punches]]. Finally, in the Omake, "[[MoreThanInfinite Ultimate Skill]]. True Punch." (Who wants to bet he can unleash Consecutive True Punches? No takers?)]]
* SelectiveObliviousness: Kirito does his best to ignore the crushes all the girls around him have on him. Part of his brain is dedicated to the task of preventing the rest from realizing it. [[spoiler: It finally becomes too obvious to keep under wraps and that part of his brain "happily dies".]]
* SerialKiller: Death Gun kills certain kinds of players, same as canon.
* ShiftingSandLand: The climax of the Phantom Bullet arc happens on a desert.
* ShipperOnDeck: Yui and Strea are in favor of MarryThemAll. [[spoiler:They're slowly easing the ideas of "make everyone happy" and "I love all of you" as prep work to get them subconsciously used to the idea of a mass harem. They even added Argo by a comical DealWithTheDevil, and she subsequently added Sinon. After this, they finally managed to get every other girl in the United Heroes Association involved with the idea. They succeed in Chapter 32.]]
* ShootingSuperman: Death Gun [[spoiler:doesn't seem to care that all his shots are being repelled by Kirito. He just keeps shooting, hoping that some of the effect will slip by the Saitama powers and cotton-up Kazuto's mind.]]
* ShoutOut:
** [[Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos Slendy]] haunts the woods around the house on the 22nd Floor. Yui and Strea call him their "shy neighbor" and leave him cookies as thanks for preventing eavesdroppers. Argo...
--> Ten seconds later, the information broker could be seen screaming as if possessed and jumping off the side of Aincrad, never stopping her screams until she crashed face-first into Salamander territory. She also apparently forgot she could actually fly.
** One to {{Videogame/Undertale}} made by one of the Fairy Lords in [[WhamEpisode Chapter 36]].
** Another one to {{Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann}} in Chapter 38. Sachi binge watched it and arrived at tournament read to "pierce the heavens" with her spear.
* ShowWithinAShow: ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'' is also fictional in this setting. Kazuto and Suguha are big fans.
* SidekickGraduationsStick: After clearing [=SAO=], Kirito tells Asuna that they're not teacher-and-student anymore but equal friends. Asuna, however, sees this for what it truly is, an attempt to make her stop calling him "sensei" which he considers an EmbarrassingNickname.
* SmallReferencePools: (in-universe) Kazuto gets irritated when someone thinks he's cosplaying Comicbook/{{Superman}} instead of Saitama.
* SneezeCut: Various characters, on a regular basis for comedic purposes, sneeze when someone talks about them.
* SparedByTheAdaptation:
** Because of Kirito "playing hero for fun", whether by saving the lives of players in danger or stopping them from committing suicide, the total body-count ends up at 500 instead of the canon 2000 by the First Floor Boss Fight. Also, by the end of SAO itself, the total body-count is barely reaching 2000, less than half of what it was in canon.
** Also when dealing with [[SerialKiller Laughing]] [[PsychoForHire Coffin]], where Kirito pushes to take a more active stance to take them down as quickly as possible and starts a crusade to crack them down after a couple dozen deaths. In contrast, the Clearers didn't take a more active stance against them in canon until LC's body count was in the TRIPLE DIGITS!
** Specific characters include: Diavel, Kuradeel, and the Black Cats of the Full Moon.
** [[spoiler: YUUKI LIVES! Kazuto found a means of acquiring the Deep Scan machine that Kayaba used to upload himself to the internet and used it on her. She then moves in with Strea and Yuuki at the [=UHA=] HQ.]]
** In the Omakes, thanks to Kirito's interference, alongside his friends, most Masters and Servants of the 5th Holy Grail War are spared except for [[spoiler: [[AdaptedOut Saber]], since she was replaced by Kirito as Savior, [[BornUnlucky Lancer]], [[BadassNormal Fake Assassin]], [[SmugSnake Zouken]], [[DiedHappilyEverAfter Archer]], [[SinisterMinister Kotomine]], and [[BornWinner Gilgamesh]].]]
* TheStationsOfTheCanon: Even though Kirito is a game breaker worse than in canon in this setting, things continue to happen more or less the same way they did in canon. This continues until near the end of Mother's Rosario, where a change is made and then an original arc forms the climax.
* StealthHiBye: Kirito pulls this off several times due to his extreme speed, especially to the players he saves at the beginning of the [=SAO=] incident. This leads to him being called "Black and White Blur".
* SuperMode:
** [[spoiler: Yuuki's Transcended Mode transforms her into the Conceptual Existence of "Cutting" and is enough to make Kiritama excited when fighting]].
** Asuna's Cyborg Body is a serious upgrade to her base fairy form.
** Also Lisbeth's [[spoiler: Thunder Goddess Mode]] and Silica's [[spoiler: [[FusionDance Dragon Fusion Form]] with Pina.]]
** Special mention goes to Strea's [[spoiler: [[DarkIsNotEvil Darkness Mode]], which devoured both Brynhildr in the main story and Zouken in the Omake.]]
** Another special mention is [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Shirou's]] [[spoiler: [[EleventhHourSuperpower Hero Mode]], which was powerful enough to erase the corrupted Grail and Angra Mainyu without any trouble.]]
* SuperReflexes: Kirito is the most obvious one, but all the girls of the [=UHA=] have super fast reflexes to some degree. It even translates into real life because it is all about how their brain processes information, which is constant between the worlds, but Kazuto's body can't keep up with his mind. [[spoiler:Yuuki on the other hand is second only to Kirito.]]
* SwordFight: Every fight that Kirito isn't involved in has swords in the midst. Even in [=GGO=] Sinon uses the lightsaber this time around.
* TakeThat: The author loves to point out the inconsistencies and plot holes in the canon story.
* TemptingFate: Kirito is prone to doing this, and he doesn't learn despite how doing it is what caused all the One Punch Gamer madness.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Comically applied between Kazuto and [[spoiler: [[EmpathicWeapon Justice]]]] in Chapter 37 to arrive at the place where Equinox's servers were located. The latter really doesn't like Kazuto due to envy issues but acknowledges that they need to work together to achieve a common goal. At the end, [[spoiler: Justice reiterates how she still doesn't like him.]]
* ThatManIsDead: [[spoiler: Equinox's daughters fervently deny any connection to their former 'Mental Health Care Programs' identities. Yui and Strea's addressing of them by their former names while attempting to reason with them [[BerserkButton drives them into a murderous rage]], ESPECIALLY [[TheBerserker Brynhildr]].]]
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Averted;
** Yui and Strea, obviously, are present from early chapters. Though they spend a lot of time following Kirito.
** There are therapists on the school created after the [=SAO=] incident, and the students have mandatory sessions with them, but they don't trust them at all.
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler: [[AntiVillain Kayaba]]]] by the end of the fic becomes one in order to make up for his mistakes involving [[spoiler: [[BigBad Equinox]] and Project: Alicization.]]
* TheDanza: Argo, Sachi, and the rest of the Black Cats of the Full Moon never had their real names revealed. So Saint uses the names of their Seiyuu's as their real names in this fic.
* ThePromise:
** Before logging into SAO Kirito promised to have some ice cream with Suguha after he's done playing. Once he's trapped in the game, fulfilling the promise plays out as one of his strongest motivations for clearing the game. He finally does in Chapter 14.
** In [[HotSpringsEpisode Chapter 12]] Asuna and the other girls in the UHA cheer up Strea and Yui, who are afraid of being forgotten after SAO for not being human, by promising to bring them to a hot spring in the real world after they clear Aincrad even if they have to settle for some kind of artificial interface. They make good on the promise in Chapter 31.
** Kirito does this again in Chapter 27, promising to try to save Yuuki from [[spoiler: her imminent death due to her terminal sickness]]. At the end of Chapter 31, he succeeds!
* ThinkNothingOfIt: Kirito's does not like to be praised for his deeds, feeling that he doesn't deserve them.
* ThisCannotBe:
** [[spoiler: FATE]] of all beings is revealed to have this at the end of Chapter 31 due to Kirito [[spoiler: saving Yuuki from Death]].
** Equinox has this reaction at the end of [[CliffHanger Chapter 37]] to Kirito [[spoiler: [[BigDamnHeroes managing to return to the virtual world]] despite her having used the Longinus Lance to "seal" his avatar away.]]
* ThouShaltNotKill: During the confrontation with Laughing Coffin, Kirito makes sure that the killer guild can't kill anyone, even if they want to.
* TitleDrop: Late in Chapter 17, the title "One Punch Gamer" comes up.
%%%* TooDumbToLive: Kibaou and Sugou to some extent.
* TookALevelInBadass: It's safe to say ''everyone'' did. Kirito getting [[ComicallyInvincibleHero Saitama's]] powers in the virtual world is the stand-out example, but there are others. See AdaptationalBadass above for specific examples.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: After spending two years thinking about taking Suguha to eat Ice Cream, Kazuto seem to have created a taste for it.
* TrainingFromHell: Kazuto tries Saitama's training regimen for more than four months before calling it quits, and only because Suguha found him on the porch of the house passed out.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: When [[BattleHarem the girls in the UHA]] aren't mad at Kirito for getting into dangerous situations like the GGO incident, they'll fight tooth and nail against whoever puts him in danger. Just ask Sugou and Kikuoka.
* WalkingTheEarth: [[spoiler: [[HeelFaceTurn Kayaba]]]], by the end of the fic, walks off into the digital sunset to [[spoiler: [[TheAtoner make up for all his mistakes.]]]]
* WeaponSpecialization: Everyone has their own preference. Asuna dual wields Elucidator and Fafnir's Fang (ItWasAGift), Silica uses a fuuma shuriken Yamata-no-Yorochi (Ninja roleplaying), Lisbeth has Mjolnir (the best hammer for the blacksmith), etc.
* WeirdnessMagnet: Kirito is an "Anomaly" that attracts strange people and events because of his cross-purpose existence with reality.
* WhamEpisode: Chapter 36: [[spoiler: Equinox's plan with her attack on ALO wasn't to take over ALO's Cardinal System; it was to expel Kirito from the Virtual World, allowing her goals to occur without the one person able to stop her able to interfere.]]
* WhatWouldXDo: Some of Kirito's actions and decisions come from asking himself what Saitama would do. However, it's also emphasized how he ISN'T Saitama and does some things his own way.
* YouCantThwartStageOne: Kirito tries to climb the tower of Aincrad by himself and kill all the bosses on the way, only for Kayaba to create an translucent wall to keep him specifically out of the dungeons.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: The Sleeping Knights are terminal, same as in canon.
* YourMindMakesItReal: Just like in canon, being injured in VR without the pain absorber active can cause injury in real life. When Kirito [[PunchedAcrossTheRoom Punched]] [[SmugSnake Sugou]] [[BigBrotherInstinct for hurting Leafa]], he ended up paralyzed in real life. Likewise, [[spoiler: the [=UHA=] get real bruises when they are heavily injured and forced to disconnect in the final arc's climax.]]
* YouShallNotPass: Kirito twice; once agaisnt the horde of Players and Giants to protect Tonki's friends, and during Mother's Rosario, where he defends the entrance of the Floor Boss same as in canon, but with more devastating results for the attacking guild.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tropes specific to Chains of Fate, second part of the series]]

* AdaptationalBadass: Same with the first part, certain characters have become more badass than their counterparts:
** As a result of [[spoiler: Equinox being integrated into Alicization]] several more characters are stated to gain the powers from OPM characters. First off is Deusolbert who gained the [[ShockAndAwe powers and weapons of Lightning Genji]]. Three other Integrity Knights are also hinted to possess the powers of Stinger, Watchdog Man, and Spring Moustache.
** Most immediate is [[spoiler:Xaxa]] who during his long imprisonment [[spoiler: became a Mysterious Being in real life through his single-minded hatred for Kirito gaining an [[BladeBelowTheShoulder Estoc Arm]], superhuman strength and agility, and is durable enough to shrug off getting rammed by a car.]]
** Eugeo gains the powers of Zombieman, which makes him nearly unkillable with a powerful HealingFactor. He also regularly dual-wields The Sword of the Blue Rose and the [[EmpathicWeapon Dragon Bone Axe]].
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: Eugeo is much more serious and sarcastic than canon.
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: Asuna infiltrates Ocean Turtle like in canon [[spoiler: but this time her daughter does more than set up her disguise. Yui and Strea take over 90% of the facility.]] It's an unusual example in that it is a hero vs hero thing.
* AscendedExtra:
** Selka plays a minor role in ''Alizication Beginning'' but here she gains clairvoyance and leaves Rulid with Kirito and Euego.
** [[spoiler: Sortilena goes from an elite disciple in the swordsmanship academy in Central to TheLeader of a group of refugees.]]
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: [[spoiler: MysteriousBeing!Xaxa's]] entire right arm turns into a blade below the shoulder.
* BlessedWithSuck: The One-Punch-Man abilities bestowed on particular characters are called "blessings" from the gods but all it does is make their receivers a target of the Axion Church.
* BroughtDownToBadass: The eponymous Chains of Fate keep Kirito from gaining his Saitama powers in Underworld, though he still proves capable regardless.
* CarFu: During the fight with [[spoiler: MysteriousBeing!Xaxa]], Asuna commendeers a car and rams into the bastard with it.
* CastFromHitPoints: [[spoiler: Selka's seer ability causes her pain, fatigues her and drains her durability score. She hides this fact from Euego and Kirito.]]
* ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve: Like in canon, Kazuto learns the importance of willpower in Underworld. He has to believe himself to be the One Punch Gamer in order to use his powers. Maintaining that belief is difficult and the consequences for failing to do so are [[HeroicRROD painful]].
* ControlFreak: DESTINY notes that FATE always gets his way, and nothing happens that he doesn't want to happen. Even the other Absolute Ones are unwilling or unable to challenge him. This is why Kiritama is so infuriating.
* CosmicChessgame: Unlike the previous story, [[ThePowersThatBe The Absolute Ones]] take a much more active role in Kazuto's life. FATE wants to neutralize Kiritama because he is basically a joke that has gotten out of hand and is damaging reality. He set up a literal six dimensional chessboard to isolate him from allies and bury him in chains. DESTINY is more sympathetic to Kiritama and other humans but can't openly oppose FATE and so he "[[SpannerInTheWorks accidentally]]" alters FATE's chessboard.
* CowardlyLion: Eugeo, the most timid of the trio, still stood up and was willing to [[spoiler: fight off Deusolbert along with Kirito to save Alice.]]
* CurbStompBattle: Pureblood Vampire's [[spoiler: A.K.A. Tiese]] fight against Zombieman/Euego is much shorter and more one-sided here than it was in OPM canon.
* DefiantCaptive: Just like in canon, Selka is captured and tied up by goblins in the cave north of Rulid. Unlike canon, she uses her {{seer|s}} ability to majorly unsettle the goblin chief, Ugachi. She tells him that he will be killed in the near future by a caped warrior and there's nothing he can do about it.
* DirtForceField: [[spoiler: As Homeless Emperor]], Ronye has the inversion of this trope, a "dirty aura" that prevents her from being clean no matter what she does.
* DualWielding: In this verse, Euego's Blue-Rose Sword is accompanied by his Dragon-Bone axe in combat.
* EmpathicWeapon: The «Dragon Bone Axe» absorbed the remains of the «Northern White Dragon» as well as its will for revenge.
* EnemiesWithDeath: For his role in Yuuki's revival, Kazuto has angered the Absolute One known as DEATH which then sides with FATE's plan out of spite.
* FramingDevice: It is told as a story by a Storyteller to one mentioned as Golden Requiem.
* ForWantOfANail: In this continuity, Eugeo brings the «Dragon Bone Axe» to the North Cave (to chop ice) in addition to the arrival of Deusolbert (out of habit). These two events combine to [[spoiler: enable him to violate the Taboo Index and attack Deusolbert, which leads to his DisneyDeath.]]
* TheGadfly: After [[spoiler: becoming Zombieman, Eugeo]] likes to freak people out by inflicting lethal injuries on himself and then healing from it.
* GiantFlyer: A Giant Crow attacks Ruild Village in Chapter 2.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: [[spoiler: Euego is cut in half at the waist during a battle with an Integrity Knight. It is just an inconvenience for him this time.]]
* GreyAndGrayMorality: Kikuoka scolds Asuna for thinking of herself as purely heroic and himself as villainous after [[spoiler: infiltrating a private government facility, taking it over via hacking its systems and then assaulting him to get her way, all of which are very illegal, while he himself is responsible for the fact that Kazuto is still alive, and he took a personal risk to do so.]]
* HealingFactor: [[spoiler: Due to his new status as Zombieman, Euego]] quickly heals from all injuries. Even lethal ones don't bother him.
* HeroicBSOD: All the members of the United Heroes Association go through one in the First Interlude [[spoiler: as a result of Kirito's dissapearance after Xaxa's ambush.]]
* HorrifyingTheHorror: [[spoiler: [=PoH=]]] has a minor freak out at [[spoiler: the now Mysterious Being Xaxa]] during his brief appearance in the first Interlude, with the hints that [[spoiler: [=PoH=] has already unlocked some powers of his own.]]
* HorrorHunger: [[spoiler: Tiese,]] who is fused with [[OurVampiresAreDifferent Pureblood Vampire]] has an insatiable thirst for blood, which leads her to go through phases of bestial frenzy when she's thirsty, to the point of attacking anyone or anything in her sights.
* InSpiteOfANail: The Underworld arc has gone wildly off the rails but Tiese still considers Euego her senpai because he still instructs her in combat skills.
* KillingIntent: Asuna is able to intimidate a professional soldier through her hero-presence in real life, [[TranquilFury all without raising her voice]].
* LikeBrotherAndSister: Euego and Kirito consider Selka their younger sister, focused on keeping her safe in a dangerous world but also teasing her with things like StealthHiBye. Likewise, she shows concern for her surrogate older brothers when they get hurt and heals them, but also pouts when she doesn't get her way.
* {{Omake}}: Similar to the first part, a set of omakes are made that start yet another crossover spin-off. This time, its with ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}''.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Ronye has such power as [[spoiler: Homeless Emperor that she can plow through the Immortal Wall separating the four human kingdoms, and even destroy Divine Instruments.]]
* PowerBornOfMadness: [[spoiler: Xaxa, who manages to become a Mysterios Being with an [[BladeBelowTheShoulder Estoc Arm]] through his single-minded and obsessed hatred against Kirito.]]
* ProphecyTwist: Selka foresees Ugachi's death as coming at the hands of "the caped one wearing black and white whose face is darkness and eyes are the void". [[spoiler: Kirito is indeed wearing a cape when he deals the goblin a lethal injury but the killing blow is dealt by Selka herself. Her habit is black and white and her right eye socket is empty, like a void, because she broke the seal of the Taboo Index in the process of reaching Ugachi.]]
* {{Seers}}: Selka can see the future in dreams and reflective surfaces, though she has trouble figuring out what they mean.
* SheWhoFightsMonsters: Kirito's canon disappearance hits Suguha a lot harder here than in canon, with the result being that Bicycle Girl becomes a violent vigilante instead of a noble hero. [[spoiler: A more literal case is implied as well, with her shadow briefly showing a winged and sinister creature.]]
* ShoutOut: When seeing [[spoiler: Eugeo]] telekinetically bring his weapon back to his hand, Kirito outright compares it to [[Franchise/StarWars The Force.]]
* SpeaksInBinary: In the middle of a 'Report Log', [[spoiler: Equinox]] breaks out in two Binary Messages. "help me" and "[[ICannotSelfTerminate kill me]]". Followed by "…k…i…r…i…t…o…".
* SummonToHand: [[spoiler: Euguo]] learned how to use his Will to force his weapons to return to his hands in an instant. [[spoiler: Then Asuna does this with a solid Elucidator in real life.]]
* SuperEmpowering: The process that granted Kirito the powers of Saitama and enabled his guildmembers to perform such incredible feats during the War of Ragnarok is starting to bleed over into the physical world. [[spoiler: Yui unwittingly uses her grav powers on the objects in Rinko's office and Asuna's Genos-mode superimposes itself over her body when she confronts Kikuoka. He sees it as a ghostly image]].
* ThisIsUnforgivable: [[spoiler: Asuna, Liz, Yui, and Strea all make this clear when meeting Kikuoka in the Ocean Turtle, condemning him for not only taking Kirito to use as a lab rat, using Equinox as a battery, and playing God with Alicization. Asuna and Liz both come close to becoming violent with him.]]
* UndeathlyPallor: [[spoiler: Eugeo]] gains extremely pale skin when he reappears with the powers of Zombieman. When going through town, or other populated areas, Kirito and Selka pass him off as an ill boy, much to his consternation. [[spoiler: Tiese, who is fused with Pureblood Vampire, also has this to an even greater extent, to the point Selka compared her to a corpse.]]
* YouShallNotPass: [[spoiler: Kirito confronts an army of Subterraneans to cover Tiese, Ronye and Euego's escape through the Immortal Wall to Eastabarieth.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: Both Asuna and Suguha are scolded by others for their extreme, illegal and/or violent behavior in response to Kazuto's disappearance. Kikuoka in particular says she is not a hero like she claims to be.
* ZergRush: As powerful as our heroes are, they will be eventually overrun by the Subterraneans if enough of them show up [[spoiler: such as the climax of the Heroes and Monsters arc.]]

[[folder:Tropes specific to UHA Chronicles, takes place between parts 1 & 2 of the series]]
* BroughtDownToBadass: In the first chapter when the UHA go to GGO, several of them note with some displeasure how they were unable to use their Unique Skills or weapons (including Yui's gravity powers) when they transferred their accounts over. It's a different game, after all, with a different server so their abilities don't transfer over like Kirito's (lucky him).
* ClingyJealousGirl: Justice's Wings naturally has a low opinion of Recon, namely "a dumbass obsessed with Master" but she's apparently also protective of "Excalibur-chan". She attacks Klein for dirtying Excalibur with his "greasy hands".
* CurbStompBattle: The narration states that [[spoiler: Justice's Wings vs Klein and his guild]] was the most bizarre and one-sided slaughter in the history of Alfheim.
* DidYouJustHaveSex: [[spoiler: Strea is shown to be in a noticeably happier mood after doing the deed with Kirito.]]
* GoingNative: Ever since becoming a virtual ghost, Yuuki has come to think of herself as more "imp" than "human" and that her wings as such are a natural part of her. This made the switch to Gun Gale Online more disorienting for her than the others.
* {{Lemon}}: The Second chapter had intimacy between [[spoiler: Kirito and Strea.]]
* SecurityBlanket: Yuuki palms Excalibur whenever she feels lonely because it carries memories of both her dearly departed sister and her new friends. When Strea hears this, [[CuddleBug being Strea]], she comforts Yuuki with a hug.
* ShoutOut: "[[Franchise/StarWars Use the Force, Yuuki!]]" Yuuki herself says as she wields a photon sword against robots.
* SexForSolace: The Lemon between [[spoiler: Kirito and Strea in chapter two, as a result of Kirito comforting her over her existential crisis and remaining confusion from killing Brynhild.]]
