''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/46889686/chapters/118112845 It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Luz!]]'' is a crossover between ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'' and ''Creator/DCComics'', with a focus on the ''Franchise/{{Superman}}'' aspects, as in ''this'' AU, Luz is the last scion of Krypton who was raised on Earth, with the inhabitants of the Demon Realm reimagined as humans as well... except for King, who's still a skull-headed creature for some reason.
----
!!''It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Luz!'' contains examples of:
* AbusiveParents: Odalia, as usual. When she finds out that [[spoiler:Amity knows Supergirl, she has Nimrod ''kidnap'' her to use her as bait for the Kryptonian, and abandons her when fleeing Metropolis due to the Brainiac drones attacking.]]
* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: [[spoiler:Since Hunter was cloned from her DNA, despite the fact that Hunter is physically around the same age as she is, Luz could be considered his mother. She actually takes the revelation pretty well, and starts acting motherly towards Hunter, though how much of it is genuine and how much is her being a {{Troll}} is unclear.]]
* AdaptationalContextChange: In ''ComicBook/AllStarSuperman'', Regan's reasons for attempting suicide were unclear, other than her therapist being held up for a legitimate reason and Regan apparently taking it as a personal abandonment. Here, it's because because she's been diagnosed with cancer, which killed her father and grandfather, and she feels like it's better to get it over with than try to fight it when she feels she can't win.
* AdaptationalSpeciesChange:
** The main example is, of course, the fact that Luz is now a Kryptonian. Hooty also goes from being a demon to being the AI of the ship that brought her to Earth as a baby.
** In this universe, Amity, Eda, Willow, and most of the other Demon Realm characters are human. The major exception is King, who is seemingly exactly like what he was in canon.
** The Collector goes from the mystical cosmic being they were in canon to the same species as Mr. Mxyzptlk.
** [[spoiler:Vee becomes a Green Martian in this AU instead of a basilisk.]]
* AdaptationNameChange: Being a Kryptonian in this AU, Luz's true name is "Zara Jor-El".
* AllForNothing: Adrian goes behind the backs of his cohorts in [[spoiler:the Secret Society, kidnapping Gus in an attempt to use his divine lightning and the clay that made up Diana to revive her under his control. Not only does he lose ''millions'' in magical relics, along with his base which got wrecked by the fight, but while Diana ''is'' revived, it's not under his control, and he's ultimately forced to flee with his tail between his legs, with the heroes now knowing of his existence.]]
* AlternateIdentityAmnesia: When Luz is put back together after the LiteralSplitPersonality incident, she has no memory of what happened while her two sides were out doing their own thing.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: When Hunter accuses her of being evil and attacks her, after Luz pummels him a bit, Luz asks him why she wouldn't eliminate him then and there if she was ''really'' evil, and while that doesn't really sink in, his reaction to her asking if Philip or Odalia had shown him any ''proof'' of her supposed evil deeds is notable.
* AtomicFBomb: When Jonah Hex learns what the current year is on Earth, he lets out a curse that Mongul, who is at least several hundred feet away, can hear. He even lampshades that it was the loudest profanity that he's ever heard.
* AtrociousAlias: One of the villains Odalia sends to try and kill Supergirl is a NoNonsenseNemesis hunter, whose name is... Nimrod. He tries to explain that he's named after the hunter of the same name from the Book of Genesis (not mentioning how the name has been used as an ironic insult over the years), but Supergirl can't stop laughing. [[spoiler:After he hits Supergirl with the Kryptonite gas, it's revealed that the ''entire reason'' he hates her is that she laughed at his name.]]
* BadFuture: [[spoiler:In Bart's timeline, a malevolent Lord of Order reportedly reigns supreme, Amity supposedly having betrayed and killed Luz, allowing him to take over.]]
* BarbieDollAnatomy: When [[spoiler:Boscha/Parasite's]] clothes are destroyed in her fight with the heroes, it becomes clear that her transformation has rendered her privates smooth like a doll's.
* BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: [[spoiler:Besides Luz, Gus as Captain Marvel, and Vee all being able to survive in space unaided, Diana is tough enough that all she needs to fight in space is an oxygen mask.]]
* BigBad: While there's other recurring villains, Odalia (being the local equivalent of Lex Luthor) is apparently the current "main" villain, working through proxies to go after Supergirl.
* BigDamnHeroes:
** In Chapter 29, after [[spoiler:escaping from Odalia, Amity uses the mech-suit she made with Eda's help to rescue Luz from the Supergirl Revenge Squad]].
** Later in the same chapter, after [[spoiler:getting a Green Lantern ring from her father Alan, Willow shows up in time to help save Luz and Amity from the Brainiac drones.]]
** In Chapter 82, [[spoiler:Luz and Krypto escape from the Phantom Zone just in time to save Eda and King from Brainiac, who has just gotten a new body.]]
* TheBigDamnKiss: In Chapter 32, [[spoiler:Amity kisses Luz right before she goes off to rescue Metropolis.]]
* BreakTheScientist: Amity goes through this a bit when asking Eda how Luz's powers work, lampshading all the scientific impossibilities in her explanation. Later, when they're investigating [[spoiler:Willow's]] new abilities and Luz says that even her powers have scientific backing to them, Amity asks her to never say that again with a twitching eye.
* BreatherEpisode:
** The Collector's brief appearance is a fairly humorous chapter, and comes on the tails of Luz suffering from her first exposure to Kryptonite.
** Luz and Amity going on their first date is mainly humor and fluff, and takes place right after the drama-filled Metropolis arc.
** "Settling Back In", appropriately. While it has a few serious moments, it gives Luz and company a break from the worst of the drama of the last arc [[spoiler:before the Multitude comes]].
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: It's not helped by the fact that he's in a gorilla body instead of a human one, but despite seemingly being the first villain Luz ever faced, by the time he shows up again in the present, years later, Luz doesn't recognize the Ultra-Humanite at ''all'' because she's faces ''so many'' crazy villains and situations by that point, including getting hit with a laser-cannon, that she can't remember him specifically. Having [[UnknownRival styled himself as her]] ArchEnemy, he's actually fairly mad to hear this.
* ChekhovsGunman:
** Volcana, the Evolver, and Grundy are all one-shot villains Luz fought that return for Odalia's LegionOfDoom alongside Toyman, who's fought Supergirl several times by that point, and Nimrod, who first appeared in a failed to trap Luz after being hired by Odalia, then showed up a second time to steal the Kryptonite.
** Regan initially seemed like she was just a one-shot character that showed up to reference ''ComicBook/AllStarSuperman'', but after [[spoiler:Brainiac steals Metropolis]], she's one of the people defending Supergirl.
* ChristmasEpisode: Chapter 91, which starts with Luz as Supergirl dressing up as Santa and delivering gifts to the kids in the hospital, then shifts to Luz spending the holiday with her family and friends.
* ClarkKenting: Like Clark, Luz uses glasses to hide her identity. Amity sees it pretty quickly once she gets a good look at Luz as Supergirl, even lampshading how it's not very effective on people who actually spend much time with her. After [[spoiler:Diana gets found out by truancy offers when staying at Gus's home]], it's even snarked that they can do ''that'' but not realize the secret identities of the heroes.
* CompositeCharacter: Besides Luz as Supergirl, with Camila and Manny being her versions of Ma and Pa Kent, and Hooty taking on the role of the AI of the rocket that sent the baby Kryptonian to Earth, several other Owl House characters are crossed with DC characters.
** Gus is basically Jimmy Olsen, complete with Signal Watch. [[spoiler:Chapter 38 also implies that he's one with Billy Batson as the chosen champion of the Wizard Shazam, which is later confirmed.]]
** Willow is implied to be one with [[spoiler:Jade, given that one of her fathers is named Alan in this fic, the implication being that he's Alan Scott. This is confirmed after she awakens her powers and Alan gives her the ring.]]
** Amity has some traits of Lena Luthor, being a relative of a corrupt CEO who hates a Kryptonian hero.
** Jacob is one with Metallo, though he's just wearing a suit of armor with a Kryptonite amulet instead of being a cyborg.
** Odalia is effectively the local version of Lex Luthor, being a powerful corporate executive based in Metropolis with a hatred of a heroic Kryptonian. Alador gets Lex's scientific skills though, and is the one [[spoiler:to try cloning said Kryptonian]], and [[spoiler:Philip/Belos]] takes the role of the one who [[spoiler:contributes the human part of Superboy/Hunter's DNA]].
** The Collector is crossed with Mr. Mxyzptlk, being a being from the 5th Dimension that can bend reality to his whims and wants to have fun with a Kryptonian hero. Luckily for Luz, he's a ''lot'' less malicious than Mxyzptlk is, and leaves on his own when he realizes that he arrived earlier in Luz's timeline than he meant to.
** In this universe, [[spoiler:Hunter]] is the equivalent to Superboy.
** Livewire has elements of both her comics variant and the version of herself from ''WesternAnimation/MyAdventuresWithSuperman''.
** [[spoiler:Boscha]] ends up becoming one to the Parasite in this crossover.
** [[spoiler:The Coven Heads and Philip]] turn out to be the members of this world's Secret Society.
** [[spoiler:Adrian]] is this universe's version of the Wizard.
** [[spoiler:Vee]] is this universe's counterpart to the Martian Manhunter.
** [[spoiler:Starro and his horde]] take on the role of the Multitude, which in the Morrison comics was a fifth-dimensional weapon run amuck.
** [[spoiler:Philip/Belos]] seems to be one to Doctor Fate.
* ControlFreak: Odalia, Alador even directly referring to her by the trope name, if there's something out of her control she ''has'' to seize it or destroy it. Even ''if'' her dislike of Supergirl originally began out of an EntertaininglyWrong belief that the alien was out to get ''her'' and she wasn't just using that as an excuse, it's clear to her husband that now it's because Odalia can't control the alien, [[spoiler:which gives him the idea to clone her so Odalia can control ''a'' Supergirl.]]
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Odalia, even before she starts fixating on killing Supergirl, is apparently far from an ethical businesswoman.
* CrazyPrepared: Amity creates a set of PoweredArmor that she can remotely summon after she's unable to stop Neron's minions chasing after her, Willow, and Gus, which proves prescient when [[spoiler:Nimrod kidnaps her for Odalia]]. Later, after what happened with her siblings, Amity sets up her own accounts independent from her family's control, [[spoiler:which keeps her from being destitute when Odalia cuts her off.]]
* CripplingOverspecialization: Jacob/Metallo's Kryptonite amulet is able to subdue Supergirl and hand her first official loss to her, but as Principal Bump points out, Metallo is only able to harm ''Supergirl''. Unlike the other villains Supergirl has fought, he's able to be easily subdued by a bunch of civilians.
* DecompositeCharacter: While Odalia may take Lex Luthor's place as a Metropolis business mogul with a hatred of a heroic Kryptonian, it's clear that Alador is still the brains behind her company's scientific accomplishments, in contrast to the more scientifically-skilled Luthor. Philip Wittebane gets Luthor's role as the source of the human half of the Superboy equivalent's DNA, as well as his occasional position as President of the US.
* DirtyCop: Odalia has the mayor of Metropolis send all the Science Police cops who are willing to shoot at Supergirl when she shows up to rescue Amity. Even Kikimora [[EvenEvilHasStandards notes that the number of cops willing to do so is rather worrying]].
* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: After being drained by the Parasite, Luz finds that she has to relearn how much force to use with her powers.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Given that Luz is the Kryptonian equivalent of Latina, some of the comments and hatred her villains, mainly Odalia, have towards her has racial undertones, which is clearly deliberate. For example, during the battle of Metropolis Odalia (a rich white person) has a bunch of corrupt cops try and shoot the non-white Supergirl (with even Kikimora seeming to notice, and [[EvenEvilHasStandards be worried by]], the implications), and when Odalia disowns Amity for associating with Supergirl she uses the term "race" (in reference to humanity in general, but the parallel is pretty clear).
* DoWrongRight: How Alador justifies [[spoiler:creating Hunter from Luz and Philip's DNA to Amity. Odalia was going to have it done regardless, and if it was ''him'', at least he could make sure that Hunter didn't turn out like Frankenstein's monster.]]
* EntertaininglyWrong: Odalia assumes that because Supergirl showed up right after O.M.A.C. was hacked, and left right after the robot was defeated before she could be questioned, that she was involved in the attack on Blight Industries. ''We'' know that she's wrong, and that Supergirl was actually Amity's guest in her civilian identity and was just trying to keep her identity secret, but even Alador admits that there's some logic to the argument based on the information that they have.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** Kikimora admits that it's kind of worrying how many members of the Metropolis Science Police are willing to shoot at Supergirl.
** When Kikimora tries to recruit Bloodsport to help kill Supergirl, he refuses because he doesn't kill kids, and even if Supergirl isn't human, she still ''looks'' it enough that he's not willing to go after her.
** [[spoiler:While Darius helped Philip kill the Justice Society, they were adults who knew what they were getting into, and he tells Philip that he won't go after Supergirl and her friends because they're kids.]]
* EveryoneHasStandards: [[spoiler:While Vee impersonated Luz out of panic when Eda told King to get the cuffs after the portal sent Vee to Earth and Luz to Warworld, she never did anything with Amity to avoid having the girl cheat on her girlfriend unknowingly, and kept up Luz's hero duties as Supergirl while she was gone.]]
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Like Lex Luthor in canon, Odalia can't really conceive of the idea that the Kryptonian she hates would have a personal life outside of costume, so when Camila shows up with Amity to rescue Supergirl from her and her Kryptonite ring during the Ultra-Humanite's attack, she completely fails to realize that Camila is Luz's adoptive mother.
* FakingTheDead: Luz manages to escape Mongul's arena by making it look like Maxima had killed her.
* FlawExploitation: [[spoiler:Boscha/Parasite]] is defeated in part by exploiting her obsession with Supergirl in order to get her to lower her guard.
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** After Jacob hits Luz with Kryptonite for the first time, Hooty says that all the Kryptonite on the planet should be in his engines. [[spoiler:After he moves to Brainiac's ship, a magic user steals some and [[StableTimeLoop travels back in time to give it to Jacob]].]]
** It's mentioned early on that Willow is a fan of [[spoiler:Green Lantern, and one of Willow's dads is named "Alan". Sure enough, he's Alan Scott, and Willow is the local equivalent of his daughter Jade and successor as Green Lantern.]]
** The naming scheme of [[spoiler:Alador's attempted Supergirl clones hints that the second attempt will become this world's Bizarro.]]
* ForHalloweenIAmGoingAsMyself: Luz uses her Supergirl outfit as a Halloween costume while still ClarkKenting, and even enters, [[YourCostumeNeedsWork and loses]], a look-alike contest.
* GroinAttack: Luz defeats [[spoiler:Bizarro]] by kneeing them in-between the legs hard.
* HollywoodHacking: Lilith is capable of insane feats of hacking, like turning Eda's robot evil as soon as it was booted up, and later doing the same thing to O.M.A.C., without anyone able to track down the origins of said hacks (though it's later implied that she had non-human help).
* HomosexualReproduction: When Maxima comes to Earth to propose to Luz, she mentions that they have machines that will allow them to have children together.
* HordeOfAlienLocusts: The Multitude is [[spoiler:Starro and his mind-controlled slaves from space-capable alien species, ravaging the cosmos as they pass.]]
* ImMelting: [[spoiler:When Hooty overwhelms Brainiac's code, his organic head eventually ''melts'' from the assault.]]
* InsistentTerminology: When Eda is building something to stop [[spoiler:Parasite Boscha]], she makes it clear that it's a "cold gun", ''not'' a FreezeRay. WordOfGod is that the distinction is because the latter just makes ice, while the former slows things down on a molecular level.
* InSpiteOfANail:
** Like in canon, Eda has a missing arm.
** Despite the changes to the universe and the other characters, the local version of King is effectively the same as in canon, Eda having just found him in a field.
* InventionalWisdom: Lampshaded by Amity when [[spoiler:fighting Starro]] and the self-destruct is the only functional system, asking herself why she even installed that in her power suit.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: Luz and Amity are big fans of Wonder Woman, [[spoiler:and when they meet her, revived as a teenager, they {{Squee}} loud enough that if there were any dogs nearby they'd be going crazy, and tackle-hug Diana while gushing, with Diana noting that if she didn't have superhuman strength and durability they'd be crushing her.]]
* LaserGuidedKarma:
** Nimrod had one of his men attack Gus when he stole the Kryptonite sample, and then when he's abut to [[spoiler:use the gas on her again, so she'll fall to her death, Gus brains him before he can take the shot, with it later revealed that he's in a coma as a result.]]
** During their fight on Warworld, Lobo tries to take off Luz's head. Later Maxima, who he'd drugged and sold into slavery, does the same to ''him'', which he survives due to his immortality.
* LeeroyJenkins: Hunter has been fed lies by Odalia and Philip that Luz is an evil invader, but despite their longer-terms plans Hunter just straight-up goes after Luz when the Ultra-Humanite is attacking, and despite the fact that he's too UnskilledButStrong to win against her, he gets pounded on by the robots because he prioritized attacking her ''before'' taking them out.
* LegionOfDoom: Odalia is forming an alliance of Toyman, Nimrod, Volcana, the Evolver, and Grundy to take Supergirl down.
* LetsYouAndHimFight:
** When Willow goes to bring Supergirl Red back to Eda's lab so they can fuse her back together with Blue, Red assumes that since she's interfering with Red's heroic actions, she must be an imposter and attacks her. The author's note even says that you knew there ''had'' to be a superhero on superhero fight at some point, as it's practically a law.
** [[spoiler:Luz and Vee fight after Luz comes back to find the Martian impersonating her, thought most of the "fight" is Vee trying to get as far away from Luz as she can.]]
* LetUsNeverSpeakOfThisAgain: After the Collector leaves, Luz and Eda ''enthusiastically'' agree that they're going to pretend that the whole thing never happened when King asks.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: Thanks to a flawed teleporter test, Luz is split into Supergirl Red and Supergirl Blue. The former is incredibly energetic and devoted to stopping evil, even by Luz's standards, while the other is sad and keeps blaming herself for things.
* LovedByAll: Save for Jacob and the occasional villain, pretty much everyone in Gravesfield ''adores'' Supergirl for heroics over the years. This bites Jacob/Metallo in the ass ''hard'', as his conspiracy-driven mind thinks that the town will be grateful for him taking her out due to his delusions of being a hero, so when he uses his Kryptonite on her in front of a huge crowd, they proceed to break every bone in his body.
* MamaBear: Camila deeply loves Luz, and while she lets the Kryptonian girl fight her own battles for the most part, when Eda accidentally causes a LiteralSplitPersonality incident Camila gets ''scary'' on her friend.
* MistakenForAnImposter: When Willow attempts to get Supergirl Red back to the lab so they can fuse her back together with Blue, Red assumes that she's an imposter for interfering in her heroic activities and [[LetsYouAndHimFight attacks her]].
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: When Supergirl helps Bizarro realize that she's hurting people, she flees Earth in shame before Luz can stop her.
* NeverMyFault: After the Metropolis incident, Odalia is clearly falling into this, blaming Supergirl for "corrupting" Amity for instance, as the little caption at the bottom of the chapter notes, and Luz even tells her that she was the one who turned Amity against her when Odalia hits her with the effect of the Kryptonite ring and the CEO blames her.
* NobodysThatDumb: When asked about the negative effects of Kryptonite on humans, Hooty says that you'd have to carry some around in your pocket for years for it to affect you, and no one's that dumb. [[spoiler:He's proven wrong when Odalia makes a ring of Kryptonite at the end of the Metropolis arc.]]
* NoodleIncident: When Masha summons Neron into a tomato, he says that he's dealt with worse.
* NotSoHarmlessVillain:
** In Nimrod's first appearance, he severely underestimated Supergirl, with Luz spending more time laughing at his AtrociousAlias than in his trap, and stops him with a single blow. When he reappears, he successfully steals the Kryptonite sample Jacob had for Odalia, with one of his men nearly managing to hurt Gus while Luz was busy with the Evolver. Luz lampshades this after [[spoiler:he kidnaps Amity, beating herself up over not taking him more seriously, especially after the latter incident.]]
** Toyman is basically depicted as a joke villain in his first appearances, Luz defeating him with ease. Once he gets proper materials after joining up with the [[LegionOfDoom Supergirl Revenge Squad]], he churns out some impressive-looking robots in under a ''day''. Unfortunately, he himself doesn't do well when he takes the field, even if his robots managed to slow Supergirl down a bit. Once he loses their backing, Luz is capable of defeating him literally in seconds.
* OhCrapThereAreFanficsOfUs: In Chapter 69, Amity discovers a rather raunchy fanfic of her and Supergirl.
* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: Even after he properly joins the heroes, [[spoiler:the others don't let Bart forget his plan to kill Amity anytime soon.]]
* OnlySaneMan: Nimrod is clearly the member of the Supergirl Revenge Squad with the most common sense, he tries to [[spoiler:keep Evolver and Toyman from fighting each other before they can finish her off, and knows that if they kill Amity, even for helping Supergirl, Odalia will have them all killed just for murdering a Blight.]]
* OrderIsNotGood: It seems that a Lord of Order is manipulating things behind the scenes to apparently malicious ends, [[spoiler:like causing a StableTimeLoop to give Jacob kryptonite (along with saving a piece for himself) and preventing the Wizard from contacting his chosen champion (Gus) before Black Adam came. Bart claims to come from a BadFuture where said Lord of Order reigns supreme.]] Said Lord of Order is [[spoiler:Philip/Belos, the evil president.]]
* OutOfCharacterAlert: [[spoiler:All of Luz's loved ones figured out that Vee was replacing her almost immediately. Besides her avoiding Amity because she didn't want to have the girl unwittingly cheat on Luz, as a test Diana asked if Vee wanted to hear about Diana's old adventures and Vee turned her down.]]
* PowerfulAndHelpless: For all of her powers, Luz was unable to save her father from dying from cancer.
* PowerIncontinence: After being drained by the Parasite, Luz's powers get a bit harder for her to control for a while because she was so drained that she forgot how to regulate them properly.
* RedOniBlueOni: Luz's LiteralSplitPersonality scenario falls under this. "Red" Luz is even more energetic than Luz ''normally'' is, constantly rushing around doing heroic deeds and shouting everything, doing poses and phrases that seem like an attempt to mimic magical girl anime. "Blue" Luz, on the other hand, is depressed and withdrawn, blaming herself for everything and believing that she's not worthy of the affection of her loved ones.
* RelatedInTheAdaptation: In this AU, [[spoiler:Hunter was partially created from Luz's DNA.]]
* SecretSecretKeeper: [[spoiler:Luz's friends and Eda and King all knew that Vee wasn't Luz long before Luz managed to return from Warworld.]]
* SealedGoodInACan: [[spoiler:The Wizard would have contacted Gus earlier, but a Lord of Order put of seals that prevented him from doing so, and he only managed to break through the seal after Black Adam showed up.]]
* ShoutOut:
** [[spoiler:Hunter's]] public persona is clearly based on [[WesternAnimation/{{Megamind}} Metro Man's]].
** The Warworld arc clearly takes a lot from ''Film/ThorRagnarok'', with Mongul as the Grandmaster analog that calls his slaves "prisoners with jobs" for instance.
** One of the former Warworld slaves looks just like [[Film/{{Alien}} a Xenomorph]] who can speak, as Luz lampshades. Apparently he knows where Earth is because his brother went there to be an actor.
* StableTimeLoop: Chapter 35 reveals that [[spoiler:the Kryptonite that Jacob had came from the engine of Luz's ship, which a sorcerer stole and went back in time to give to him after Hooty moved to Brainiac's ship.]]
* StalkerWithACrush: Boscha is a Supergirl stalker, [[spoiler:and gets even worse after becoming Parasite]].
* StartMyOwn: After finding evidence that Odalia has been passing Blight Industries technology to criminals, Amity starts her own company, S.T.A.R. Labs, to beat her at her own game while creating things that genuinely benefit mankind.
* TakeAThirdOption:
** In Chapter 34, [[spoiler:Brainiac tries to force Luz to choose between saving Metropolis before the shrinking is permanent and saving the Kryptonian city of Kandor. She chooses to use Hooty to fry his systems and save both.]]
** Mongul announces that the loser of the duel between Luz and Maxima will die even if the victor spares them, just to try and force Luz to kill or be killed. Luz manages to fake her death and escape instead.
* TakeThat: At one point Luz and Amity see a Wonder Woman movie based on the ''ComicBook/New52'' version of the character... and both find it to be ''awful''.
* TalkingDownTheSuicidal: In a homage to ''ComicBook/AllStarSuperman'', in Chapter 26 Luz talks down Regan, a suicidal girl about to jump off a Metropolis rooftop after having been diagnosed with cancer, by sharing how she lost her own father to cancer.
* TeleporterAccident: In order to [[spoiler:cure Lilith from what Brainiac did to her]], Eda sets up a teleporter designed to split [[spoiler:her cybernetics away from her]], Eda specifically referencing it as an inversion of what happened in ''Film/TheFly1986''. Unfortunately, it ends up [[LiteralSplitPersonality splitting Luz into Supergirl Red and Supergirl Blue]] when they test it.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Averted, after dealing with Blue Luz's depression during the LiteralSplitPersonality incident, Camila makes it clear that Luz is going to start seeing a therapist once a week.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: In Chapter 94, a malfunctioning portal Eda made sends [[spoiler:Luz to Warworld.]]
* TraumaButton: When Luz sees ''Star Wars'' for the first time, the destruction of Alderaan calls up subconscious memories of what happened to Krypton.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Nimrod assumes that a box full of sarin gas and a special bullet will be enough to stop Supergirl. He's not even close.
* UnknownRival: The Ultra-Humanite was the first villain Luz ever faced, but by the time he shows up again, [[ButForMeItWasTuesday she's been through so much that she barely remembers him]] (the fact that he's an albino ape as opposed to the human he was then probably doesn't help). He actually gets very angry at this.
* UnskilledButStrong: [[spoiler:Hunter]] may have powers comparable to Supergirl's, but she has far more experience with them, evading his attacks with ease because he's telegraphing them so much. The only reason that he manages to get a blow on her ''at all'' in their first fight is because she stopped a bunch of robots that were pounding him into the ground that he couldn't defeat himself, and he attacked her when she let her guard down to check on him.
* VillainBall: In Chapter 29, the [[spoiler:Supergirl Revenge Squad]] have Luz at their mercy, [[spoiler:but the conflict between how Evolver wants to keep her alive to study her biology and the Toyman wants to be the one to kill her ends up distracting them long enough for Amity to arrive and rescue her.]]
* WeaksauceWeakness:
** As in canon, [[spoiler:Willow's Starheart powers can't affect anything made of wood.]] This is lampshaded, and it's apparently because anything magical will have ''some'' kind of weakness, simply as an inherent mystical law.
** Similarly, [[spoiler:Adrian]]/the Wizard cannot [[OnlyFleshIsSafe directly affect a living person]]. Sure, he can affect them ''indirectly'', like summoning a blast of flame to burn them, but that's the closest he can get, so even though Kryptonians are typically weak to magic, he can't do much against Supergirl.
** [[spoiler:Exposure to the Lasso of Truth easily forces Starro's parasites off his victims.]]
* WeirdnessMagnet: Hunter notes at one point that he wouldn't be surprised if Luz and her friends have a collective trouble-magnet superpower.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Lilith's actions were because [[spoiler:she saw that the Multitude were coming to Earth, so when Brainiac made her a deal to help save Earth, she panicked and went for it.]]
* WhamEpisode:
** In Chapter 23, when the group is being cornered by demons during Luz's fight with Neron, [[spoiler:Willow awakens her dormant powers and destroys them]].
** In Chapter 27, Odalia starts her anti-Supergirl plans by [[spoiler:having Nimrod ''kidnap'' her own daughter and leave a picture for Luz to find.]]
** In Chapter 28, [[spoiler:we learn that Eda lost her arm to Lilith when she stopped the latter from trying to dissect Luz as a baby, and that she's apparently been assimilated by Brainiac.]]
** In Chapter 31, [[spoiler:Metropolis is seemingly obliterated by the alien drones.]]
