"The Core Timeline is an amalgamation of chaos. The so-called real world has been overlapped with the realms of movies, comic books, anime, and more. Portland, Oregon is not immune to this. The City of Roses in the Core Timeline has its own heroes. Mainly the Aegis Organization, a local branch of The Foundation, originally from an alternate version of the Marvel Universe, destroyed in a cataclysm, but reborn here. And when a massive demonic invasion hits the world, Aegis must live up to its mythological namesake and be Portland's defense, for they are the City of Roses' only hope..."

!!This story has the following Tropes:

* EightiesHair: Amir "Gyral" Khosrow's hairstyle is meant to evoke Keith's mullet in ''WesternAnimation/VoltronLegendaryDefender''. It also fits with his being a fan of 1980s pop culture.
* AdaptationalNationality: The Alternate of Rosalind Price that leads the Portland Aegis team is German-American because [[ActorSharedBackground that is the nationality of her actress.]]
* AdaptationNameChange: Aegis's Chrome is named Jennifer ''Swann'' instead of ''Swensen''. Per Word of God, it was in homage to pro wrestler Rich Swann.
* AffirmativeActionLegacy: Silver Sabre is one of those. The original Super Sabre was the white Martin Fletcher. His descendant, Keiko Miyamoto, is a bisexual Japanese-American.
* AgeLift: The ''Outlaw Star'' alts that appear here are ten years older than their "canon" selves.
* TheAllAmericanBoy: Giovanni "Jack" Magniconte is meant to be a modern take on the concept. The story establishes that before Aegis, he was a high school quarterback, popular with girls, and even managed to have friends from the various archetypical high-school "cliques". His codename, "All-American", is a reference to his being an astounding athlete pre-Aegis.
* AscendedExtra: Aegis's roster is full of obscure characters, and even versions of characters that were originally not native to the mainstream Marvel comics universe, most notably versions of [[https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Giovanni_Magniconte_(Earth-148611) Giovanni "Jack" Magniconte]] and [[https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Jennifer_Swensen_(Earth-148611)?so=search Jennifer Swensen]] from Marvel's ''New Universe'' line.
* TheAtoner: Haywire joined Aegis to atone for his working for a supervillain known only as the Chronobreaker.
* AuthorAppeal: The author is a big fan of obscure characters. A couple of the characters in this story have literally only appeared in ONE comic book and have never been mentioned again before appearing here.
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler: Played with in Haywire's case. The Avengers ''thought'' he died in the miniseries ''Avengers: Celestial Quest'', but this story establishes that it was faked, and Haywire was actually brought forward in time.]]
* BadassNormal: Luther Banks has no superpowers, but he makes up for it with Marine grit and his skills as a sniper.
* BigBad: [[spoiler:Hexxus, the pollution spirit from ''WesternAnimation/FernGullyTheLastRainforest'', Emerges in the middle of the chaos and [[OpportunisticBastard exploits the spiritual pollution that the demons are causing]] to grow stronger.]]
* CanonImmigrant: Aegis's roster has a few. Rosalind Price and Luther Banks are originally from the ''Series/AgentsOfSHIELD'' television series. Taryn Fujioka, Aegis's PR expert, is based on the character from ''WesternAnimation/XMenEvolution''. All-American and Chrome are based on characters that appeared as part of Marvel's ''ComicBook/TheNewUniverse'' line in the 1980s. It's also established that Aegis's original timeline had a version of [[http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/clerkhsl.htm Henry Clerk]], the Big Bad of another obscure Marvel imprint from the 80s: [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadowline_(Epic_Comics) The Shadowline Saga]].
* ChromeChampion: Chrome has the power to turn her skin into metal, much like the X-Men's Colossus. Also like him, she is super-strong and practically indestructible in her metal form. Unlike the original New Universe version of the character, Jen can change back to normal and got her powers thanks to Terrigenesis.
* CrisisCrossover: The events of this story take place in the middle of all of the world-wide chaos that is shown in ''The Shikigami Ranger and the Monster Mashers''.
* ColorCodedCharacters: As a nod to Power Rangers, the main Agents often wear clothing of one particular color: Red (Chrome), Blue (All-American and Silver Sabre), Yellow (Gyral), Green (Haywire), Purple (Quartz)
* CompositeCharacter: Among the secondary characters of the story are alts of the ''Anime/OutlawStar'' crew that have been amalgamated with various Marvel characters, mainly members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Also, another is an alt of Cyclops that is also a Kamen Rider.
** Doctor Starwind is an amalgam of Gene Starwind, Doctor Strange, and Star-Lord.
** "Lucky" Melfina is an amalgam of Melfina, Clea, and Domino.
** Aisha Clan-Clan is melded with Drax and Tigra.
** Jim Hawking is melded with Rocket Raccoon and Bullseye.
** "Twilight" Suzuka is melded with Gamora and Psylocke.
* CrisisCrossover: Not only do we get a different point of view of a major InUniverse event but [[ComicBook/{{Supergirl}} one of the major characters]] of the TropeNamer [[ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths comic book event]] directly compares the Core Timeline to it.
* {{Deconstruction}}: Supergirl remembers her death at the hands of the Anti-Monitor in ''ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths'', and it has left her traumatized. She admits to having nightmares about it, and seeing the red skies TERRIFY her, as she believes they are a sign the Anti-Monitor is coming back. After all, if ''she'' could come back, so could he... To ReincarnateInAnotherWorld is not always pleasant. It's [[{{Reconstruction}} reconstructed]] by Supergirl saying that she is regularly attending therapy sessions, and she's in a place where she can actually get some help for her trauma.
** Also hinted at is a mentioned NoodleIncident in which Haywire encountered an alt of his deceased girlfriend Inertia during an Aegis investigation and got really freaked out. For some, the Coreline can bring up some emotional issues.
* DiscoDan: Somewhat with Gyral. He's a big fan of 1980s pop culture and movies.
* ElsewhereFic: This story takes place at the same time as ''The Shikinami Ranger and the Monster Mashers'', over on UsefulNotes/TheOtherRainforest.
* {{Fanboy}}: Jack Magniconte admires Captain America.
* FunnyAnimal: The alt of Jim Hawking that appears in this story is an anthropomorphic raccoon. Which makes sense as he's an amalgam of the original Jim and Rocket Raccoon (as well as Bullseye).
* HalfHumanHybrid: Keiko "Silver Sabre" Miyamoto is sort of this. She is a mutant with the power of superspeed, but she also has Inhuman genetic markers, which allowed her to undergo Terrigenesis. When she did, she gained a "telepathic radar", allowing her to sense people around her, but she can't read minds.
* HappilyMarried: Doctor Starwind and "Lucky" Melfina are this. They got hitched not long after arriving on the Coreline.
* LawyerFriendlyCameo: Quartz is fond of a tabletop game called ''Fiends and Fjords''.
* LegacyCharacter: Keiko Miyamoto, aka Silver Sabre, is a descendant of [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Sabre_(comics) Martin Fletcher/Super Sabre]], a character that first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #215 (March 1987). She inherited his mutant power of superspeed. Her father was also a Kamen Rider-esque superhero in his native Japan called "Captain Silver". Her codename of "Silver Sabre" is a way of honoring both her parents.
** One of Aegis's allies is Jerome "Jerry" Chang, an Inhuman consulting detective with cryokinetic powers that took up the "Iceman" moniker in honor of his friend in his home universe, the X-Man Robert Drake.
* ManlyFacialHair: Doctor Starwind sports an epic handlebar mustache.
* NoodleIncident: Some have been mentioned.
* OriginsEpisode: The origins of the various Aegis agents that appear are told throughout the story.
* PurpleisPowerful: Andy "Quartz" Cortez has the ability to create crystals. They're purple in color. He can create tough barriers with them, or shards that are razor-sharp.
* RaceLift: In the original New Universe comics, Jennifer Swensen was a white redhead. Her Aegis counterpart, Jennifer ''Swann'', has a black father and Native American mother. Still retains the red hair, thanks to Terrigenesis.
* RedSkiesCrossover: Literally, with the skies over Portland getting a deep red tint ''ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths''-style while all hell breaks loose, which is even lampshaded...by an actual veteran of the Crisis.
* ReincarnateInAnotherWorld: What happened to Supergirl. It left her with mental scars.
* ShoutOut: The Jim Hawking alt here speaks with a Cockney accent. This is a nod to Greg Ellis's vocals as Rocket Raccoon in ''Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3'' and ''The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes''.
* SolarPunk: The city of Portland's interest in going green has increased after the Vanishing, with lots of hanging gardens and green power. [[spoiler:This is a problem for Hexxus, who decides to change that. Because of the Vanishing, Portland itself has become the very antithesis of his existence.]]
* TakeThat: When the second Iceman recalls learning of the events of ''ComicBook/DeathOfX'' and ''ComicBook/InhumansVsXMen'' (those crises never happened in his native timeline), he thinks the [[WhoWritesThisCrap whole thing was pure insanity]]. The author disliked those stories as he felt they made the X-Men and the Inhumans look like complete idiots. Per the author, those stories never happened in Aegis's original timeline either.
* TheBusCameBack: Combined with AscendedExtra in the case of [[http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix3/nightcatjt.htm Jacqueline "Nightcat" Tavarez.]] She originally only appeared in one comic from 1991 and that was it. In Aegis's original timeline, she continued her musical/crimefighting careers, until she encountered Aegis. During that point, the serum that had empowered her had stated to cause her DNA to destabilize, potentially causing a painful death. Aegis was able to cure her, but at the cost of mutating her further into the feline appearance she has at the start of the story.
** Also applies to [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haywire_(comics) Hal "Haywire" Danforth]]. He appeared in the 1980s ''Squadron Supreme'' miniseries and died in the 2001 miniseries ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avengers:_Celestial_Quest Avengers: Celestial Quest]]''. The story explains his return from the grave ([[spoiler:It turns out he never really died, he was brought forwards in time by a supervillain]]), but also gives an explanation as to how he got his powers in the first place. The story also delves into his personal life (notably revealing he is Jewish), and also explains where he was where Nighthawk recruited him to the America Redeemers. These are things the original ''Squadron Supreme'' miniseries never did.
* TraumaButton: One of the secondary characters is a Pre-Crisis Alternate of ''ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}'' who [[ReincarnateInAnotherWorld Emerged on the Core Timeline after dying]] in the ''ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths'', and obviously seeing the red skies and apocalyptic madness make her start to fear the Anti-Monitor may appear.
** There also was a [[NoodleIncident Noodle Incident]] mentioned in which during an Aegis investigation, Haywire encountered an alt of his deceased lover Inertia. Naturally, it freaked him out. It led Haywire to grumble he hates the Coreline sometimes.
* WrenchWench: Chrome is introduced fixing up an Aegis vehicle. The story also established that she worked as a mechanic before gaining her powers and becoming an Aegis agent.
