->''"What would have happened if Red Tornado had a different sort of program in place during the events of the Season 1 finale. How could the events of this change the story? As timelines collide and new heroes and villains appear, it can only get more complicated. For no villain can be worse than Project Nextgen. Multiple harems. Marvel influence though Young Justice World."''

[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8077729/1/Young-Justice-Next-Gen Young Justice Next Gen]], by Creator/{{Crossoverpairinglover}}, features a ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice2010'' World, where the Light's plot during the Season 1 end was successful, with a variety of repercussions in history.

One of the key elements of the story is the Next Gen chip. Originally created by Ra's al Ghul as a way to get Bruce to marry his daughter, the chips end up inside Dick, Wally and Conner, the latter due to a successfully starroed Aqualad, who had been given it by Red Tornado (whose programming caused him to, instead of shutting down, passively resist and grab some of said chips instead), and the other two due to the fact that the Next Gen chip makes the occupant immune to starro tech. However, there are side effects. One of which being that the chips can affect females (or males, by WordOfGod) that are attracted to someone who has one, and with mutual attraction vice versa, can cause... funny business.

!! This fanfic provides examples of:
* AbusiveParents: Emma Frost's father is not a good guy. Ra's Al ghul and Black Manta, while normally good parents, are sort of this considering they are good parents to their staroo'd children.
* AntiHero: Wolverine, Rose Wilson, Thor and Deadpool from the start
* AdaptationDistillation: The author, while using the Young Justice World as it is, features elements from other DC T.V shows, pre and post The Comicbook/{{New 52}} continuity, Marvel, Franchise/Ben10 and WesternAnimation/GeneratorRex, and likely more.
* AdaptationalVillainy: Many characters who are not normally villainous are, due to being under the control of the Light.
** To a lesser extent, Hulk who kills a couple of the Light controlled heroes unlike the comics version that doesn't kill. More of an AntiHero really...
* AdaptationalWimp: Many of his Marvel characters, such as Spider-Man and Nightcrawler do not seem to have as many powers or skills as in the comics. The author has said that they will get better with training, but has not shown it yet.
* BadFuture: The future has been glanced several times: and it's [[spoiler:a civil war between Superboy's team and Kid Flash's. What happened to Robin's team, or the Justice League and Light, is unknown. Impulse's bad future still did appear, though it may no longer exist as it hasn't been visited since]].
* BalancedHarem: the author tries to keep this, but YMMV if it works
* BigBadDuumvirate: The Light.
** BigBadEnsemble: The Light has competition in the form of Ultron, Apocalpyse, Doctor Doom and the Amazo-Sentinels. This is forming the begining of a EnemyCivilWar, after [[spoiler: Ultron kills Ocean Master]].
** Also joined by [[spoiler: Symbiotes and a Red Skull from a Marvel Universe]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: When the Light captured Paige for a LivingBattery, Cannonball focused everything he had to save her. [[spoiler: it cost him his life, but he helped free Paige, and began the second, non Light controlled release]].
* BlessedWithSuck: Some of the empowered characters are of this mindset. Among them are Thing, Husk and Storm.
** [[spoiler: after having Rex hack the Omnitrix, it becomes this for Ben. Due to the Omnitrix going into a random, infinite form cycle, he begins to suffer pain from the constant DNA alterations.]]
* BreakingTheFellowship: [[spoiler: due to the Light attacking the team after tracking them down via Rose's eye, the team is broken into three parts. Superboy, Miss Martian, Rocket, Sphere, Wolf and Caitlin Fairchild remain with the ship, Wally, Artemis and Rose end up in Tennesee due to Magik's limbo stick, and Dick, Zatanna and Barbara end up in Themiscarya. They still have yet to track each other down]]
* BroughtDownToNormal: [[spoiler: Superboy due to golden Kryptonite.]]
* CanonImmigrant: A version of Jurassic Park's Site B was sucked in from another story to become the Next Gen Savage Land.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Impulse, using the Speedforce, manages to knock Trigon's influence off the Earth to save Raven.
* CurbstompBattle: The Phoenix Force absolutely decimated the Light's forces, though it ended up bound to the earth and inside Jean and Emma
* DrivenByEnvy: [[spoiler: because he was injured and unable to care for Dick, Doctor Doom believes that Batman stole his last family member. His entire motivation is to make Dick be his again, and kill all who 'replaced him'. He only lets those in Dick's Next-Gen harem live because he knows that they are tied to his life force, there is a StayInTheKitchen option after all. The logic aside...well Doctor Doom did have that IrrationalHatred of his with Reed in canon, so it is true to him]]
* EvilCounterpart: Inverted, in story Amethyst is the Lord of Order to Klarion's Lord of Chaos
* EvilUncle: [[spoiler: Dick has one in the form of his uncle Rick, aka Doctor Doom.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: At various times, the Light has shown to have certain values. ComicBook/LexLuthor doesn't deal with drugs while Queen Bee doesn't tolerate [[RapeAsBackstory male sexual aggression on females]]. Of course, the characters themselves are by no means perfect, but they have some level of standards.
* ExpendableClone: The Light takes a bit too much fun in this.
* EyeScream: [[spoiler: PlayedWith. Rose finds out she has a Light tracking chip in her eye....so she willngly removes it]].
* FandomRivalry: In universe example: Peter Parker and Virgil Hawkins argue over if Yu-Gi-Oh is better than Pokemon. Similarly, Wally West and Deadpool seem to be Star War and Star Treck fans, respectively.
* TheFashionista: ComicBook/TheWasp, who was chosen over Bumblebee partially because she is a costume designer, to avoid FridgeLogic as to where all the SensualSpandex would have come from.
* FrenchMaidOutfit: Perdita has Artemis, Rose and Paige dress up in these.
* GRatedDrug: Pixie's dust allows her to put people in a variety of hallucinations. Some scenes range from DisneyAcidSequence's with the Light in the seventies to other examples of SugarWiki/FunnyMoments.
* HappilyMarried: Wolverine and Mariko. Technically the Next Gen chipped....
* HellOnEarth: Rotworld was this, [[spoiler: thankfully it was just a DreamApocalypse created by Odin]]
* HollywoodAtheist: Played with. Impulse's future had all religions destroyed, so he doesn't know what faith is. However, he doesn't convert, and while the author is a self proclaimed atheist, he shows how Impulse's unintentionally harsh comments are not well received by religious characters like Nightcrawler.
* AnIcePerson: Iceman, the Light's Ice villains.
* KilledOffForReal: Several characters are killed, however many of them, as Light minions, are cloned in mass. Some characters who have died, and are not cloned in mass, include [[spoiler: Captain Atom, Cannonball, James Gordon, Hippolyta, Mariko Yashida, Jay Garrick, Wolverine, Polka Dot Man and the original Black Canary, Red Arrow, Zatara and his clone.]]
** [[spoiler: a version of Black Panther and Baron Blitzkrieg also die]]
* MassSuperEmpoweringEvent: The Light created a mutagen to create an army of super soliders. However, it got out into the world: the first time in planned and controlled intervals, the second time when a huge mass of the mutagen gas gets thrown into the atmosphere, affecting random people at random times.
* MostCommonSuperpower: PlayedWith. The female characters, while all shown to have breasts (the character list for the above loads of characters listing this), the sizes aren't all massive. The characters with larger breasts are generally older, or in comics particularly known for it, while more petite characters like Kitty Pryde, Dust or Cassandra Cain are shown to be quite petite. PlayedStraight with Emma Frost, as her powers actually did render herself far more 'talented' than she had been.
* PapaWolf: Wolverine to his daughters, adopted or otherwise: Shadowcat, Jubilee, X-23 and Armor.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: The [[Comicbook/TheIncredibleHulk Hulk.]]
* PhysicalGod: Perdita gains god like powers over Vlatava due to the Mutagen.
* RefusalOfTheCall: Storm doesn't want to be a hero [[spoiler: she eventually changes her mind after being imprisoned by the Red Skull]]
* ShownTheirWork: The Author does a lot of research, and it shows.
* ShoutOut: When Perdita is flying through Vlatava, she finds a Cabbage Merchant [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender yes, him]], who is crying about his cabbage. She uses her powers to give him a long awaited PetTheDog moment and grow him new cabbages.
** Deadpool, before being sent away by Perdita, he started freaking out about fish and pointed out that he is not [[Series/RiverMonsters Jeremy Wade]] but [[KilledMidSentence Wade....well he lived but he was still gone]]
** Doctor Doom, in a fight, cast a spell called [[WesternAnimation/XiaolinShowdown repulse the gargoyle]]
** Gates, normally a member of the ComicBook/LegionOfSuperHeroes, is compared to [[Literature/InheritanceCycle a Ra'Zac]]
** Static [[spoiler: while fighting VenomPeter, makes several geek comments, including Franchise/TheTransformers universal greeting. It didn't work]]
** Black Canary 16 strikes Xenon while saying [[Manga/RosarioPlusVampire know your place]]
** Deadpool refers to Norman Osborn as a [[Literature/HarryPotter Gringrots reject]]
** Ben refers to Wildcat as a [[Literature/WarriorCats Patchpelt reject]], referring to an elder from the original series
** Tony mentions wanting to build an [[Literature/InfiniteStratos Infinite Stratos armor to Norman Osborn]]. Considering the series is a harem/mecha series, it is understandable that [[LovableSexManiac a teenage Tony Stark]][[ReallyGetsAround would like the series]], [[HaremGenre and want to be in it]]
* SealedGoodInACan: The Phoenix Force's life half ends up trapped in Jean Gray, while the destruction half ended up in Emma Frost in a case of SealedEvilInACan.
* TakeThat: The author, at various times, has used the story to take pot shots at the Birdflash pairing, Creator/RobLiefeld, Creator/BrianMichaelBendis, Miss Martian being a mind rapist, and himself. Most all by Deadpool and his BreakingTheFourthWall.
* ThouShaltNotKill: Superboy believes this greatly. This, as hinted by WordOfGod, ends up a major plot point, said to be a CivilWar
* Timeskip: A year after the end of Season 1, after [[spoiler: Superboy looses his powers]].
* TookALevelInBadass: Several characters manage this, including Rocket, who [[spoiler: manages to show off her full potential and go up against a Symbiote enhanced and controlled Superboy. Ben later manages this when the Omnitrix unlocks 'SuperBen', allowing him to recover and give a pounding to the Light controlled Superman]]
* WhamEpisode: Chapter Eleven [[spoiler: Superboy looses his powers permanently and accidentally reprograms M'Gann to be unable to kill or MindRape]]
** Chapter Seventeen [[spoiler: the team gets split into three groups and separated]]
* WolverinePublicity: Played with. Wolverine did indeed appear. He was one of the few adult characters to have a heroic role. However, [[spoiler: he was killed by Rainmaker.]]
