An AlternateUniverse branching off of Andrew Hussie's ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'', originally based on art by [[http://deeum.tumblr.com/ Deeum]] (an example of which shown on this page to the right). As the title suggests, it uses Hussie's characters and mythos to create a police vs. criminals setting. HilarityEnsues.

There is little consistency in [[{{Fanon}} canon]], with the same troll having portrayed as a [[HomelessHero beggar]], a [[ReluctantMadScientist biologist]], and a petty criminal in separate works. Usually, the stories take place in Alternia City, a metropolis with sizable Troll, Human, Consort, and Carapace populations. Usually, the Homestuck canon's {{Woobie}} is a [[TheChessmaster criminal mastermind]] with a copy of the EvilOverlordList, Vriska is a DirtyCop, and Rose is in charge of her very own Website/SCPFoundation pastiche. There are, however, two very different and distinct "mainstream" canons: the RP canon on Website/DeviantArt and the general fanfic canon on the forums.

This AU also generates a slew of FanArt, much of which is indexed on the thread's first page.

----
!!''Troll Cops'' provides examples of:

* TheAlcatraz: The Veil Maximum Security Prison.
* AncientArtifact: The city is chock-full of Skaian artifacts, many of which are suddenly in working condition after the Green Sun incident.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Gamzee, when he's sober. He was able to take down ''five'' of the Felt by himself.
* UsefulNotes/BritishCoppers: The ''Troll Cops: UK'' canon.
* ChristmasEpisode: "A Very Strider Christmas".
* CollidingCriminalConspiracies: All over the place, a consequence of Alternia City being home to no fewer than six major criminal organizations. Complicating things further is the fact that two of those aren't shy about tossing the TimeyWimeyBall around.
* CowboyCop: Terezi.
* DaChief: Typically AR, although in a few canons this role is filled by Equius.
* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: Just about everyone's, depending on the canon you use.
* DisabilitySuperpower:
** Terezi, as in the canon (she's [[BlindSeer blind]] but can smell and taste light)
** Subverted with Mr. Pupa, who simply has [[ArtificialLimbs bionic legs]] for whenever he feels like walking.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: Don Strider quickly begins developing a different personality from Dave. Don is much more open with his emotions, thinking that he can die at any time due to being a paradox clone.
* DemonicDummy: Cal, as in Homestuck. [[spoiler: But it turns out he was a hallucination.]]
* {{Foil}}: Terezi and Mr. Pupa (both handicapped, neither handicapped by their handicaps, both chessmasters).
** Also Egbertman and Crowbro. One, a happy-go-lucky, LighterAndSofter hero who [[ThouShaltNotKill refuses to kill]] and flies around helping people during the daytime. The other, a hardened vigilante who operates at night and will not hesitate to murder criminals in cold blood.
* FriendlyEnemy: Sollux and Terezi versus the Karkat Gang. They're on opposite sides of the law, but are on fairly good personal terms despite this. Notable examples include Terezi dropping the chase to get Nepeta medical help in "One For Sorrow", and Nepeta in turn choosing Sollux and Terezi to be the first people outside the gang to hear about her becoming an OfficialCouple with Karkat in "Routine".
* GoodCopBadCop: Sollux, being bipolar, manages to play both.
* HelpfulHallucination: Gamzee in ''[[http://www.mspaforums.com/showthread.php?34044-TROLL!COPS-The-AU&p=5044379&viewfull=1#post5044379 Sopor Somnolence]]''.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Bro]]
* MagpiesAsPortents: Maggie's vigilante identity is the Magpie.
* MobWar: A six-way free-for-all between the Midnight Crew, the Felt, Mr. Pupa's organization (including the Karkat Gang), the Strider Mafia, the Kingpin Mob, and the Mindfang Pirates (before they're assimilated into Pupa's organization). [[spoiler:The fallout from the events of "Would You Kindly?" adds the Carcino Gang after they survive [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness Pupa turning on them]] and decide to set themselves up as an independent group.]]
* NoodleIncident: That one time that Maggie [[spoiler:babysat for Portia.]]
* ObfuscatingDisability: The Nefarious and Notorious Mr Pupa uses his wheelchair to lull his enemies into a false sense of security before making a getaway on his robotic legs. In a twist on the trope, his disability used to be genuine, before the secret operation that gave him the aforementioned robotic legs.
* OriginalCharacter: Several. Prominent ones include the Magpie, Mama Captor, [[spoiler:[[DeathByOriginStory John's mother]], and Portia Nitram]]. Some stories focus pretty much exclusively on groups of {{Original Character}}s.
** Subverted, however, with Don Strider, who seems to be the Troll Cops version of Davesprite.
* ThePlan: Pretty much everything Mr. Pupa does.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: The Karkitty gang consists of three orphaned trolls. One has anger issues and a powerful BigBrotherInstinct, one is [[KindHeartedCatLover obsessed with cats,]] and one is a perpetually [[TheStoner stoned]] clown who was born into one of the richest families in Alternia City [[spoiler:before they were all murdered before his eyes by a [[OurVampiresAreDifferent rainbow drinker.]]]] It doesn't really get much more ragtag than that.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Mayor WV, [[TheDitz ditziness]] notwithstanding. AR, too, whenever he's [[DaChief the commissioner.]] Additionally, Terezi and Equius are often portrayed as outranking the other cops, and they may also fill this role... DependingOnTheWriter, of course.
* RetCon: Many things, after being introduced in Homestuck, make their way into Troll Cops retroactively. Notable examples are [[spoiler: Kanpire, Mr. Pupa raising an alive version of Aradia, and Eridan's wand.]]
* SadisticChoice: In ''[[http://www.mspaforums.com/showthread.php?34044-TROLL!COPS-The-AU&p=5257107&viewfull=1#post5257107 Blind Girl Bluff]]'', Pupa forces Karkat to choose between kidnapping (and, if necessary, killing) his childhood friend Terezi or losing his gang. It's Mr. Pupa, so [[TakeAThirdOption taking a third option]] will probably not be helpful.
* ShameIfSomethingHappened: Pupa employs this on Magpie in ''[[http://www.mspaforums.com/showthread.php?34044-TROLL!COPS-The-AU&p=4480762&viewfull=1#post4480762 Silken Net]]''.
* ShapeShifting: Nepeta can turn into a car.
* StreetUrchin: In at least two canons, Karkat, Gamzee and Nepeta were three orphans who turned to crime in order to feed themselves.
* UnholyMatrimony: Pupa and Vriska, [[spoiler:[[MoreThanMindControl the latter unwillingly.]] When Aradia wakes up from her ConvenientComa, she takes her place by Pupa's side...willingly, this time.]]
* VigilanteMan: Bro. [[spoiler: [[KilledOffForReal It doesn't go so well for him.]]]]
* WrongGenreSavvy: Hussie, oh so much. As Alternia City's resident [[CloudCuckoolander crazy]] [[TheDrifter vagrant,]] he objects to the entire AU's existence and believes everything was meant to play out as it does in ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}.'' This frequently lands him in jail or the asylum, for his own safety.
