Marvel Studios, LLC (originally known as Marvel Films from 1993 to 1996) is an American motion picture studio based at The Walt Creator/Disney Studios in Burbank, California and is a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios, itself a wholly owned division of The Walt Disney Company, with film producer Creator/KevinFeige serving as president. Previously, the studio was a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment until The Walt Disney Company reorganized the companies in August 2015 to be separate entities.

Dedicated to producing films based on Creator/MarvelComics characters, the studio has been involved in three Marvel-character film franchises to have exceeded one billion dollars in North American revenue: the X-Men, ComicBook/SpiderMan, and Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse multi-film franchises. Spider-Man is licensed out to Creator/SonyPictures, however; while Sony underwrites and distributes Spider-Man movies in the MCU, creative input is handled by Marvel Studios. Marvel Studios' films are currently distributed theatrically by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, originally Paramount Pictures (except Spain and Japan) from 2008 to 2011. Creator/UniversalPictures distributed Film/2008; and Sony distributed Film/SpiderManHomecoming, Film/SpiderManFarFromHome, and Film/SpiderManNoWayHome.

In December 2017, Disney made a commitment to acquire the majority of 21st Century Fox's entertainment assets, which include the ComicBook/FantasticFour and ComicBook/XMen film rights; the deal closed on March 20, 2019. Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed that there are plans for future for these characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Kevin Feige has claimed that they won't commit to any plans until the deal is officially approved by regulators. In fact, he has gone on-record as claiming that he doesn't expect there to be another X-Men movie until 2024 at the absolute earliest. At San Diego Comic Con 2019, Feige confirmed the development of both ComicBook/FantasticFour and Mutants in the MCU, confirming the merger was well and wrapped.

In another reorganization, announced in October 2019, Marvel Studios gained oversight of Creator/MarvelTelevision and Creator/MarvelAnimation from Marvel Entertainment, with Feige overseeing both brands and ensuring Marvel Studios oversees all Marvel-based multimedia. This makes Marvel Comics the only major asset left in the Marvel Entertainment subsidiary until 2023, when Marvel Entertainment became defunct, moving the division to Disney Publishing Worldwide.

Marvel Studios has released 33 films since 2008 within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with Film/IronMan1 in 2008, and two films under the "Marvel Knights" banner for darker and lesser known titles, Film/PunisherWarZone and Film/GhostRiderSpiritOfVengeance in 2008 and 2012, respectively. (Neither are canonical to the MCU.) All films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe share continuity with each other, along with the One-Shots produced by the studio and the television shows produced by Creator/MarvelTelevision.
