While Frank Quitely and Grant Morrison's ''All-Star Superman'' was well received, won a pile of industry awards, and is generally considered one of the best Superman stories of all time, Frank Miller and Jim Lee's ''All-Star Batman'' received derision for its hilariously awful dialogue, SociopathicHero cast, and the fact that most characters act nothing like they do in the original comics. Plus its constant [[ScheduleSlip slipping schedule]] didn't help matters at all; eventually it became an OrphanedSeries after its tenth issue, although it was never officially cancelled. Some argued that Creator/FrankMiller was doing an intentional StealthParody of himself (though he did say that ''ASBAR'' is {{canon}} with ''ComicBook/BatmanTheDarkKnightReturns''), while others just thought he had lost his mind. |
