The Demon Lords are among the feared beings of the setting, considered to be the most powerful and highest-ranking monsters currently existing in the world. Originating with the ascensions of Guy Crimson, Milim Nava, and Ramiris, they have long held a strong sway over the world vying for power either openly or secretly with the humans and each other.
----
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: They are both the rulers of their respective domains and the most powerful beings in their territories. [[spoiler:Carrion and Frey stepping down and becoming Milim's subordinates in effect means their territories are now a part of her jurisdiction.]]
* KlingonPromotion: In order to ascend to the ranks of the great demon lords, one must be powerful enough to be recognized by at least two of the current members. If one of the current members does not approve of this, they may challenge the aspiring being to combat and if the incumbent demon lord is defeated, the aspiring being can now take the vacated spot. This how Leon Cromwell got to be a member and also how Rimuru attains his place among their ranks. While a sufficiently powerful individual can technically declare themselves as a demon lord, they also run the risk of getting the ire of a current demon lord simply based on being arrogant enough to put themselves on the level of the current members.
* MightMakesRight: While the Demon Lords all have their own agendas and philosophies they live by, their rhetoric during the Walpurgis Banquet devolves down to "survival of the fittest." If one Demon Lord has a bone to pick with another, none of the others would interfere (outside of certain circumstances) since [[AsskickingLeadsToLeadership someone not powerful enough to defend themselves aren't worth listening to anyway]].
* NonIndicativeName:
** The title they had at the start of the story, "Ten Great Demon Lords", wasn't actually coined by them but rather the humans. They themselves had tried giving themselves a name, but every time they agreed on one their numbers ended up shifting and rendering it out-of-date. They kept the "Ten Great Demon Lords" name mostly because they got tired of changing it and it just so happened to accurately describe their numbers during this period of time. [[spoiler:When Rimuru joins, Clayman is killed, and Carrion and Frey step down to become Milim's subordinates]], they decide to update the name to something closer to accurate to chronicle the start of a new era (and, on Veldora's suggestion, appointed Rimuru to the job because he's good with naming things), as no one was very keen on just calling themselves the "Eight Great Demon Lords".
** Despite being called "Demon Lords", only four of them (Guy, Milim, Dino, and [[spoiler:Luminous]]) were actually ''True'' Demon Lords as acknowledged by the World. The rest of them were either Demon Lord Seeds (Carrion, Frey, Clayman, Roy) or beings that ''couldn't'' undergo the evolution in question due to their physiology (Leon is [[spoiler:a True Hero rather than a True Demon Lord]], Ramiris due to her status as a high-level Spirit affected by Guy and Milim's magical energies, and Dagruel [[spoiler:because he's such a pure Holy-aligned being in whom it's impossible for the Demon Seed to take root because its so anathema to his nature]]) but were still acknowledged for their power.
** Going even further on the "Demon Lord" point, despite the name, Guy is the only actual “Demon” among the Demon Lords, with the rest of them being a Dragonoid (Milim), a Fallen Angel (Dino), a Vampire (Roy [[spoiler:and Luminous]]), a Harpy (Frey), a Lycanthrope (Carrion), a Deathman (Clayman), a Fairy (Ramiris), a Giant (Dagruel), a former human (Leon), and of course…a slime (Rimuru).
* NotSoOmniscientCouncilOfBickering: As Rimuru learns, the Demon Lords mostly tend to their own matters outside of non-aggression pacts. The awe-inspiring "Walpurgis Banquet" where the Demon Lords gather together originally began, as Ramiris put it, as tea parties between her, Milim, and Guy where they would just hang out. Several Walpurgis were effectively just get-togethers where they caught up with each other, and they spent many of them just trying to come up with a cool name for themselves to no avail.
* PunchClockVillain: To be a Demon Lord means that you're absurdly powerful and to become a ''True'' Demon Lord would mean that you'd need to kill a lot of humans, but it becomes obvious that the Demon Lords aren't all bad and can be quite benevolent under the right circumstances. Their status as bad guys is based more around reputation than anything else.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: All of them look at most middle-aged, but in reality they're all centuries old at least. The youngest of them, Leon, is 300 years old and acknowledged as Demon Lord for 200 of those years. Most of them have lived through at least one of the Tenma Great Wars that occur every five hundred years.
* SevenDeadlySins: Four of them.
** Milim Nava wields the Ultimate Skill Wrathful King Satan.
** Guy Crimson wields the Ultimate Skill Prideful King Lucifer.
** Dino wields the Ultimate Skill Slothful King Belphegor. He's never shown using it right, though.
** Luminous Valentine wields the Ultimate Skill Lustful King Asmodeus.
* TookALevelInBadass: Each one of them gets some form of upgrade over the course of the story, whether it's by evolving into a True Demon Lord, evolving their Unique/Ultimate Skills to the next stage, or simply coming up with new ways to use their powers effectively.

One of the most powerful Demon Lords, and one of the oldest who "rules" (or more accurately conquered) the land that surrounds the City of the Forgotten Dragon. While she is flighty and somewhat scatterbrained, she is much smarter than she looks.
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: She utterly sucks at remembering the names of most people. While she ''can'' ingrain the proper names of people she likes immensely, such as her close friends Guy and Rimuru or her dedicated follower and sparring buddy Middray, people she only likes moderately frequently get their names mispronounced or even mangled, such as calling Kurobee "Kurobi", while the people she doesn't care much for at most get a HeyYou, such as always calling Shion "one-horn" no matter how many times she gets corrected. She actually expresses some amazement at how, despite barely knowing him, she actually remembered Gabiru's name, which she takes as meaning he interested her enough.
* ACupAngst: She doesn't usually show it, but when Gobta brings up in ''The Slime Diaries'' Episode 7 that she should change her [[{{Stripperific}} outfit]] because it was clearly meant for someone with a more "adult" figure, she punches him out ''twice'' and then not-so-subtly threatens Rimuru and Gobta's companions when she "asks" them if they agree with him. In the New Years episode Milim irately offers to rip Shion's breasts off when the latter comments on her petite figure while complaining about how tight her kimono is around her chest.
* AdaptationalCurves: Milim has a somewhat larger bust in the anime than she does in the light novel, making her not ''completely'' flat-chested.
* AdaptationalDumbass: The anime leaves out the light novel's insights into what she is thinking, making her look much ditzier and more childish than she actually is.
* AdaptationDyeJob: In the original web novel she had white hair. The light novel and subsequent adaptations changed her hair to pink -- though her hair turns white in her SuperMode. Even then, the anime keeps her hair pink in said SuperMode.
* AdaptationalSkimpiness: In the original web novel, her regular outfit was quite different and a decent bit more modest. When the light novel brought her in, her clothes were changed to the {{Stripperific}} design they would have from then on in both the novel volumes and subsequent adaptations.
* AlmightyIdiot: Milim has the power of a literal god at her disposal, and at first glance she appears and acts like an immature and naive idiot. While ObfuscatingStupidity and DitzyGenius do cover some of it, even Guy Crimson, who's known her longer than almost anyone else, doesn't hesitate to call her an idiot and that he's long ago stopped trying to guess what she's thinking since he'd only get a headache from it.
* AwesomeByAnalysis: Her Dragon Eye Skill allows her to gauge her opponent's magical energy even if they try to hide it, ensuring her opponents can't pretend to be weak (or strong) in front of her.
* BadassBystander: Milim lives in Tempest and doesn't make her identity a secret, so when Charybdis attacks the city, she offers to simply kill it (which she could easily do). Against Rimuru's wishes, the Oni convince her to let Rimuru fight it (he would rather simply have Milim get rid of it) because it was their country's affair and Milim is their honored guest. The fight drags on for a long time while Milim simply watches it go down, disappointed that she's not allowed to participate. Eventually Rimuru finds out that Charybdis was after Milim, so he lets her fight the monster. Milim defeats Charybdis with little effort.
* BarehandedBladeBlock: Catches Shion's {{BFS}} with one hand and virtually no effort, despite the impact cratering the ground beneath them.
* BeamSpam: Drago Buster involves creating multiple homing beams of draconic energy that are fired all at once at a target. When heavily holding back, it's still capable of utterly incinerating Charybdis, leaving only Phobio's charred and barely-alive body.
* BerserkButton:
** Calling her a "kid" generally results in people going flying or requiring large amounts of healing potion. It gets better when she starts to follow Rimuru's instruction that she should hold back, but people still go flying.
** Anybody so much as insinuating that her body is [[ACupAngst way too petite]] to make form-accentuating outfits work, such as [[BrutalHonesty Gobta]], causes her to enter a state of TranquilFury and punch out the offender, before asking all surrounding folks if they also thinks her {{Stripperific}} outfit doesn't fit her, making them fearfully state they don't to avoid getting punched too.
* BestFriend: She styles herself as Rimuru's "best friend," although this wasn't exactly a title she earned and more of a proclamation he couldn't refuse. [[ImpliedLoveInterest It's also implied she ends up developing feelings for him.]]
* BlackKnight: When she actually decides to take a fight seriously, she dons a set of jet-black armor.
* BloodKnight:
** Milim ''really'' enjoys fighting, and reacts to powerful opponents with a SlasherSmile and glowing IcyBlueEyes. Rimuru immediately recognizes her initial borderline CuteAndPsycho tendencies as a potential problem and takes steps to teach her restraint.
** She ends up attacking [[spoiler:Rimuru during Walpurgis the moment Clayman orders her to do so. She was only pretending to be under his control, but she clearly was eager to have an excuse to fight Rimuru, who had just become a Demon Lord.]]
* BrutalHonesty: She both hates lies and being lied to, to the point she'll bluntly state her demands with no compromise and rampage if she's rejected.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Milim is frightfully powerful and could easily level Tempest, but is easily manipulated into becoming friendly because she is an incredibly flighty goofball. When she arrives to test Rimuru, his fight with her involves throwing honey in her mouth because he could tell she was a weirdo that would react positively to sweets. This works.
* ComicalAngryFace: When Veldora crashes her fight with Rimuru, Milim [[spoiler:-- who was pretending to be brainwashed by Clayman --]] quickly becomes annoyed when she sees them bantering, and in the manga is shown breaking character by blatantly pouting and fuming in the background.
* CostumePorn: Becomes quite a clotheshorse after settling in Tempest, being somewhat bored by her standard {{stripperific}} outfit.
* CurbStompBattle:
** She ends [[DraconicAbomination Charybdis]] (a monster so powerful it clashes with ''Rimuru'' and Tempest for several hours in a stalemate without slowing down) with a single direct attack and using none of her special abilities. Even moreso, the only reason its host Phobio survives is because Rimuru didn't want to deal with the fallout of killing one of Carrion's people, so she intentionally held back just enough to do that while still blowing Charybdis to pieces.
** Her fight with [[spoiler:Carrion]] is one-sided the moment she finally decides to be serious after playing around and even taking his most powerful attack head-on as a test. [[spoiler:She doesn't even need to attack ''him'', just turn his kingdom's captial to ash with a single attack and allowed the shocked and humbled Demon Lord to surrender once he's cornered by Frey.]]
** Even against Rimuru, Milim had every advantage possible, forcing the slime to shift in and out and FlashStep just to avoid being insta-vaporized.
** Averted with her uncle Veldora, who recognized that she was just playing while [[PretendToBeBrainwashed faking servitude to Clayman]], and who had [[TookALevelInBadass gotten some actual technique and an ultimate skill]] and also decided to play with her. Even then the two of them were evenly matched.
* CuteBruiser: She's immensely cute in appearance with a decently lovable personality to match, and she also has a level of sheer physical strength so high that just jumping can leave craters along with doling out {{Megaton Punch}}es frequently even when heavily restraining her power.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She lost her mother and father at an early age, then the dragon that her father gave her as a pet was killed by a greedy kingdom that wanted to exploit her powers for themselves. She massacred them in response and became a Demon Lord, nearly destroying the world were it not for the intervention of Guy Crimson and Ramiris, and [[HopeSpot inadvertedly brought her pet back to life]]...as [[MonsterFromBeyondTheVeil the souless Chaos Dragon]] that almost destroyed the world itself and forced her to fight and seal it away. Then she spent the next thousands of years as an [[LonelyAtTheTop immortal and nigh-undefeatable being]] surrounded by those in fear of her power, who wanted to take advantage of her, who worshipped her as a deity rather than an equal, or who did care about her in their own ways but weren't much for open affection. Part of the reason she becomes so fast to befriend Rimuru was BecauseYouWereNiceToMe is in full force.
* DemonLordsAndArchdevils: The second oldest Demon Lord after Guy. In fact, her ascension happened not long after Guy's own.
* DitzyGenius: Milim lacks even an ounce of common sense and is incredibly scatterbrained, but she's actually really smart and can easily outwit people trying to manipulate her. She's also capable of using magic so advanced, Great Sage can't even begin to analyze it. Guy Crimson states that while she's an idiot, she also has an uncanny sense of intuition.
* DragonAncestry: Daughter of the True Dragon Stellar King Veldanava and the human Lucia. This also technically makes her the daughter of the world's [[DragonsAreDivine God]].
* TheDreaded: All Demon Lords are feared by almost all of the world inhabitants. What sets Milim apart is that even other Demon Lords are afraid of her.
* DreamSue: In one episode of ''The Slime Diaries'', Milim dreams about effortlessly curb-stomping Tempest -- something she ''could'' easily do. The "Sue" part comes in when Rimuru -- who is comically waving a white surrender flag -- declares he wants to become a Demon Lord and Milim's apprentice, before confessing his love for her. Milim wakes up just as they embrace, and [[IWasHavingSuchANiceDream grumbles]] that it [[EroticDream was just getting good]].
* EatingOptional: In ''The Slime Diaries'' Episode 7, Rimuru notes that technically speaking she has no need for food, since her magicule-rich dragnoid body passively provides all the energy and nourishment she needs. She still eats anyway since she enjoys the taste of it, with genuinely good food like what Shuna can cook up being something she outright loves, especially since her own followers, head priest Middray in particular, have problems comprehending that uncooked ingredients like raw carrots are not very tasty.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: She seems like a ditz at first, but she quickly arrives at Rimuru's village, causing a crater where she lands. Several of Rimuru's strongest fighters attempt to attack her since she seemed to be a threat, but practically everything they throw at her turns out into a NoSell attack. Even Rimuru had to resort to trickery to "defeat" her by feeding her honey that she enjoyed so much she decides not to attack them in exchange for some more of it.
* FlyingBrick: She has immense power that makes her into a LightningBruiser with high potential for becoming TheJuggernaut, which is added to by also being able to levitate herself in order to travel around unobstructed. She occasionally switches to a FlyingFirepower fighting style when in situations where magic or energy bombarbment would be more effective than brute-strength pummeling.
* TheFogOfAges: Milim's lived so long (plus had a sufficiently traumatizing past) she admits she doesn't really have any memories of her parents, and her earliest years are something of a fuzz to her even if she does have some clear details. For example, when she playing and petting Ranga in ''The Slime Diaries'', she admits she doesn't fully remember where she's learned to be this good at caring for pets, but she very much ''does'' remember who and what her old "pet" was.
* GirlishPigtails: She wears her hair in two messy pigtails, fitting her childlike and ditzy nature.
* GlacierWaif: She may look like a little girl, but make no mistake that she's as much of a powerhouse as one would have with a title like "Destroyer."
* GodEmperor: Played with. She does have an effective religion focused around her in the form of the Dragon Faithful and as a True Demon Lord and daughter of the world's ''actual'' {{God}} she has both the power and status to back it up, but she doesn't live up to it for a long time since she's not really interested in settling down as a proper ruler.
* HartmanHips: Her {{Stripperific}} outfit leaves almost nothing to the imagination, and the light novel and anime [[MaleGaze frequently emphasize]] her hips in contrast to her otherwise [[https://i.imgur.com/g8JoovV.jpg petite and svelte form]]. An [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/navas.png official illustration]] was made of Milim in a BoobsAndButtPose with Rimuru perched on her butt, and even had a statuette made based on it.
* HellishPupils: When she's angry or bloodlusted, her irises glow blue and her pupils narrow into vertical slits, emphasizing her draconic heritage. ''Slime Diaries'' reveals that it's a MagicalEye ability called "Milim Eye" that grants her SuperSenses.
* HiddenDepths: There's heavy indication that Milim [[ObfuscatingStupidity deliberately plays up her genuine child-like attitude]] as something of a coping mechanism for her life, as she can have powerful moments of insight and self-introspection when prompted, along with moments that show she's far from a selfish person.
** In ''The Slime Diaries'' Episode 7, she seems genuinely intrigued by Geld's reasonings behind his {{Workaholic}} tendencies and at the end of the episode in a private moment with Rimuru [[spoiler:warns him about the dangers of becoming so attached to his town and its inhabitants, as she doesn't want him to suffer the pain of suddenly losing those things [[CallForward and what he would do to get them back]].]]
** In ''The Slime Diaries'' Episode 10, she listens intently to Rimuru's admittance that he's always had an unfulfilled childhood dream of making a snow hut and cooking mochi inside, and then proceeds to eagerly repurpose the giant snow-Rimuru sculpture she made so she, Rimuru, and the goblin children can all enjoy it for themselves. [[spoiler:She also always knew when Myulan was spying around and made sure to always face the recording while smiling and making acknowledging motions.]]
** In the ''ISEKAI Memories'' event "Demon Lord New Year's Meal", Milim is able to pick up Hakurou's swordsmanship [[InstantExpert just by seeing it in one mock battle]], and then apply that skill to knife cutting with bit of guidance from Shuna to [[MundaneUtility start expertly cutting out and prepping New Years cuisine]].
* HornedHumanoid: When she fights seriously and dons her armor, she has a horn out of her head like an ogre or oni.
* IdiotHair: Has a prominent curved one, emphasizing her ditzy status.
* ImmortalImmaturity: Despite being one of the oldest and strongest beings in the series, mentally she totally ''is'' the scatterbrained teen that her appearance suggests.
* ImmuneToMindControl: [[spoiler:What she ''actually'' is, to Clayman and Rimuru's shock. In spite of Clayman using what he called the most powerful MindControl magic in the Orb of Domination on her, it would have harmlessly splashed off her ''passive'' defensives without effort on her part. In order to fake being brainwashed, she had to outright turn off her various defenses just so she could get a proper hit of it, and she could throw it off on a whim if she chose and had to ''eat spicy bell peppers'' just to keep up her stoic poker-face.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Milim might be spoiled, childish and have the temper of a volcano (as well as the destructive power that comes once it awakens), but she is not a bad person. She clearly treasures her friendship with Rimuru, who was [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe the first individual to treat her as friend rather than the powerful Demon Lord she is.]]
* KamehameHadoken: One of her favorite techniques, and the one best suited to obliterating both larger enemies and entire areas, is Drago-Nova, which channels a massive amount of magicules into a blast of draconic energy. Her first usage of it has her [[spoiler:completely wipe the Beast Kingdom's capital off the map, leaving nothing but a smoldering crater where it once was, alongside creating a gaping hole in two massive mountains that were in front of and behind it in the way of her shot]]. Even then, later events transpire to reveal that was her ''still'' holding back.
* LamarckWasRight: The source of her incredible power is due to being the child of and named by the True Dragon Stellar King Veldanava, the first of the True Dragons and the original creator of the world. This allowed her to inherit a great majority of his power and partly why it was so easy for her to ascend to the rank of True Demon Lord.
* LonelyAtTheTop: She has had almost no friends for thousands of years due to her powers and because of the mortality of others, and the few among her peers she actually did consider close (Guy and Ramiris) weren't exactly "buddy-buddy" material at the time (Ramiris and her only started really growing close thanks to their mutual interactions with Rimuru). It is not surprising that she is quick to call Rimuru her 'bestie' after he treated her so nicely and even offered his friendship.
* MagicNuke: Her Drago Buster attack is capable of obliterating [[DraconicAbomination Charybdis]] with only a fraction of its full power. [[spoiler:Her Drago Nova attack turns Carrion's kingdom capital of Eurazania into a sea of flames while punching a massive hole clean through two mountain ranges -- and she was still holding back]].
* MsFanservice: While she doesn't hold a candle to the [[BuxomBeautyStandard ridiculously busty]] Shion, her [[{{Stripperific}} skimpy]] outfit and [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} goofy]] mentality is something the series likes taking advantage of by having her act like an InnocentFanserviceGirl, with artists and animators of the franchise have making her pose in ways deliberately meant to show off her hips and butt.
* NamedWeapons: The sword she wields into battle is referred to as "Tenma", and according to Carrion in the manga it's known as a demon blade that she's used to spill the blood of countless monsters and demon lords.
* NeverMyFault: [[spoiler:When Carrion grills her on how she kicked his ass and blew up his capital, she childishly states that she's not at fault and that it's all on Clayman since she had to sell her performance.]]
* NighInvulnerability:
** None of Clayman's strikes on her person actually hurt her.
** During her fight with Veldora at Walpurgis [[spoiler:even if they were basically just "playing" since Veldora realized she was PretendToBeBrainwashed and just rolled with it]], she tanks his various strikes easily, up to and including a KameHameHadoken head-on that exploded with enough force to blow back Clayman who was watching from below.
* NoSell:
** The oni originally attack her thinking she's going to attack Rimuru, but she casually counters everything they throw at her, culminating in her taking Benimaru's Black Flame spell dead on and letting it sputter out without a mark on her body.
** When she finally gets called in to battle [[AnimalisticAbomination Charybdis]], the beast unleashes a FlechetteStorm of its [[SpikeShooter scales]] at her. She just lifts a hand and the attack just falls out of the sky.
** She willingly takes [[spoiler:Demon Lord Carrion's]] strongest attack head-on and is engulfed in a massive explosion. She flies out now in [[SuperMode Battle Mode]] with no signs of visible damage and only commenting that's it's been awhile since her arm's gotten numb from an attack.
* NotSoInnocentWhistle: She ''tries'' to do this, but is unable to actually whistle and just blows air.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Despite being over a thousand years old, Milim looks and acts like she's in her early teens. As such those who meet her for the first time dismiss -- [[MuggingTheMonster at their peril]] -- the possibility that a young girl could be one of the most-powerful Demon Lords.
* ParentalIncest: [[spoiler:Ends up falling for Rimuru in the finale even though it's heavily implied that he's a reincarnation of her ''father'', [[PhysicalGod Stellar Dragon Veldanava]]. That said, it should be noted Rimuru has no memories of his life as Veldanava (assuming he really ''is'' said reincarnation) and Milim herself barely knew about her father before his death anyways.]]
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Her 'Tyrant of Destruction' is well-earned, seeing that [[spoiler:one shot of her Drago-Nova was more than enough to level the entirety of the Beast Kingdom's capital.]] Guy Crimson notes during a brief reflection of his ancient battle with her that if he ''didn't'' challenge her, she likely would have razed the planet of all life before her rage petered out. In the ''ISEKAI Memories'' event "Demon Lord New Year's Meal", Milim without a hint of hyperbole makes mention that she could ''[[StarKilling shoot the sun out of the sky]]'' [[ItMakesSenseInContext in order to make the day end faster so New Years can hurry up and come]].
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Looks like a kid, yet her strength is such that she can destroy entire kingdoms using nothing but physical power alone, to say nothing of her actual magic. When they first meet up, Great Sage informs Rimuru that even in a non-serious state, she has at least ''ten'' times the amount of power Rimuru currently has at his disposal, and this is after Rimuru got a power-up from devouring the Orc Disaster. And she proves by running roughshod over nearly anyone who fights her head-on, be they Rimuru's subordinates, Charybdis, or even [[spoiler:fellow Demon Lord Carrion]].
* PowerLimiter: Rimuru gives her a pair of gauntlets that reduce her blows to 10% of their original strength. It says something about how strong she is that [[SuperStrength she can still sent opponents several times her size into the air pretty easily]].
* PretendToBeBrainwashed: [[spoiler:The events of the war between Rimuru and Clayman have her acting as Clayman's minion, utterly destroying the capital of the Beast Kingdom and being subservient to his whims. Almost everybody around believed it was because he brainwashed her, but in actuality, as Guy already guessed based on what he knows about her, she was being TheMole by just pretending to be under his control in order to lull Clayman into a false sense of security so she could eventually humiliate him for being such a major jerk to everybody she likes, especially towards her bestie Rimuru, along with potentially tricking him into revealing who is backing him. In fact, she had to put ''far more'' effort into successfully faking the brainwashing than actually resisting it. The destruction of Eurazania happened because she was having a bit too much fun with her pretending and went overboard on her "acting", and her fighting Rimuru was because her BloodKnight tendencies made her really want to see how strong her bestie became after turning into a Demon Lord.]]
* PsychoPink: She looks like a cute pink-haired girl, but she's the Demon Lord known as the Destroyer and a major BloodKnight.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: The ruler of her nation and the strongest member of it. To put that in perspective, [[spoiler:Frey and Carrion (former Demon Lords who are among the strongest monsters that haven't properly awakened their Demon Seeds and ascended) both willingly become her subordinates and she so outclasses them it's almost laughable.]]
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Has the appearance of a twelve-year-old but is actually thousands of years old.
* RedBaron: She is known as the "Destroyer" due to her enormous physical and magical power, which is enough to decimate entire countries when she throws a tantrum.
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: The reason Milim is able to get the most out of [[UnstoppableRage Wrathful King Satan]] is because she has near bottomless and ''infinite'' reserves of Magicules from her heritage as [[DragonsAreDivine Veldanava's daughter]] to fuel the skill converting her rage into energy. Anyone else using this skill would find themselves at risk of burning out due to losing themselves in rage and not noticing their rapidly-depleting Magicule reserves. [[spoiler:Notably, fellow Demon Lord Guy Crimson copied Wrathful King Satan via his own [[PowerCopying Ultimate Skill]], yet he can only use it to about 40% of its max potential because he just doesn't have the reserves to safely use it any higher (and remember, Guy is one of the most powerful beings on the planet).]]
* SemiDivine: While she's not a Demigod like Chloe, Milim is the daughter of the multiverse's creator deity -- making her hands-down one of the most powerful characters in the series.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: Immature, BloodKnight tendancies, an [[BigEater exteme love of good food]] and a short temper. She is definately Veldora's niece.
* SignatureLaugh: She possesses a rather quirky and hearty laugh that sounds like "wah-haha-ha", which normally comes out when she's enjoying herself.
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer: An inverted example in the anime. She's seen briefly in the first ending seen in episodes 1-14. But she doesn't actually meet Rimuru until around episode 16, by which time a new op/ed is shown.
* {{Sleepyhead}}: She gets bored rather easily, so when there's nothing "exciting" going on, she has a habit of nodding off during calm and peaceful times, especially after filling her belly with delicious food.
* {{Stripperific}}: Milim's usual outfit leaves almost nothing to the imagination, wears the bare minimum to cover up her private parts and is little more than an armored tube top and low-riding panties.
* SuperMode: Her Battle Mode manifests black armor on her body, turns her hair white (stays pink in the anime), and causes her to grow wings and a horn in the middle of her forehead.
* SuperSpeed: During her fight with Rimuru at Walpurgis, she's constantly {{FlashStep}}ping around and Rimuru can barely keep up even with Thought Acceleration on max (which is at ''one million'' times normal) and Raphael on support.
* SuperStrength: She pulverizes and craters the ground with ease when she ''lands'' on it, much less when she actually punches it. Her {{Megaton Punch}}es are also ''not'' comically exaggerated; she really is strong enough to send people flying through the air with the equivalent of a love tap. During Walpurgis, she shows her strikes are enough to punch through Rimuru's various magical and dimensional defenses and hurt his person, and an EnhancedPunch is enough to legitimately make him fear for his life. [[spoiler:And she's ''still'' holding back since she's just putting on a show.]]
* SweetTooth: She developed a love of sweets as soon as Rimuru fed her honey, and bonded with Shion and Shuna over their desire to bring in a reliable source of sugar to Tempest.
* TastesLikeFriendship: Basically how Rimuru "defeats" her in their first fight. He loads up a special attack, which appears to be a golden orb of power, and then smashes it into Milim's mouth. Said "orb" was actually just some honey he found, but she loved it so much that she was willing to consider their duel a "draw" and promises not to attack Rimuru's village or teammates, declaring Rimuru her "bestie" and Tempest to be under her protection.
* ThereWasADoor: Double-subverted in ''The Slime Diaries'' Episode 7, where she does in fact use the doors...and smashes them open so hard they fly right off the hinges.
* TookALevelInKindness: With Rimuru's and [[spoiler:Frey's]] guidance, Milim slowly matures into being less selfish and taking up her responsibilities as a ruler for the good of her people. Of course, that still won't stop her from saying "screw it" and running off to Tempest to have fun with her bestie when she gets sufficiently bored.
* {{Troll}}: [[spoiler:While pretending to be under Clayman's control, she went out of her way to annoy him, like, for example, eating all the food he had in his castle with no manners whatsoever. Even Frey felt somewhat bad for Clayman.]]
* UnstoppableRage: She's widely feared for it since she becomes unstoppable once sufficiently enraged to the point that only demon lords can stop her. Since her rage also converts to energy thanks to her Ultimate Skill, she can virtually fight endlessly as long as she is angry and gradually get stronger throughout it all since she also has near ''infinite'' reserves of Magicules to fuel the Skill. Her ancient fight with Guy Crimson only ended after a total week's worth of combat, not from Guy actually ''winning'', but simply holding his own long enough for her rage to taper off and start thinking reasonably again.
* VerbalTic: In Japanese, she often ends her sentences with "nanoda".
* WakeUpCallBoss: PlayedWith. At the time of her appearance, she's the first opponent who explicitly is many times stronger than Rimuru is...so Rimuru doesn't engage her in a fruitless battle to the death, but feeds her a bunch of delicious honey to calm her down and bribes her with more if she calls it a draw.
* WillfullyWeak: She learns the concept of restraint during her stay in Tempest and tries to hold back as much as she could in order to impress Rimuru. That being said, she's still able to destroy a giant DraconicAbomination in one blast of her magic while managing to keep its host barely alive as a demonstration of her newfound restraint. [[spoiler:She also considers the destruction of Eurasania and a nearby mountain range as her deliberately pulling her punches. Finally, while she has no intention of seriously hurting Rimuru in their battle in Walpurgis, her punches are still strong enough to make Rimuru seriously fear for his life.]]
* WhoWantsToLiveForever: Rimuru theorizes that she chose a life of solitude so that she wouldn't outlive all her friends. This would also explain why she latched onto him so quickly, as the first (theoretical) immortal to show her kindness.
* WorldsStrongestWoman:
** Milim is the strongest of the Demon Lords and basically the strongest being in the world. She treats blowing up a DraconicAbomination powerful enough to end a nation with a single attack as showing "restraint" because she let the host live and didn't use any of her special skills to do the job. She later reveals she wasn't exaggerating in this regard, [[spoiler:as she's capable of destroying entire countries with a single attack while ''still'' holding back.]] The only other woman in the series possibly stronger than her would be her aunt Velzard, considered as the strongest of the three remaining True Dragons.
** It is quantified by Great Sage. When asked how powerful she was by Rimuru, Great Sage basically replied, "Too powerful. You cannot win."

The Red Progenitor and the first and supposedly strongest Demon Lord who rules the demon-infested wasteland of the northern Ice Continent.
----
* ActuallyPrettyFunny: His opinion of Rimuru after the slime steals his barrier skill to trap Clayman. He cheerfully calls Rimuru 'impudent' with a smile on his face, clearly amused at the (figurative) balls it took to do it.
* AffablyEvil: He sees it as his ''job'' to wipe out humans in order to keep them humble and enjoys it, has a RedBaron that wouldn't be out of place for the stereotypical EvilOverlord, his Ultimate Skill is named after ''Lucifier'', rules a kingdom so polluted by both his and Velzard's magic power that only other monsters can endure it for any length of time, and he's among the more malevolent Demon Lords. Yet he has plenty of standards he holds himself to, is a pretty swell guy on his downtime, and geniunely cherishes what friendships he has, particularly with Velzard and his fellow original Demon Lords Ramiris and Milim.
* AlwaysABiggerFish: He ''is'' the "Bigger Fish" among the Demon Lords.
** Guy claims that fellow True Demon Lord Leon could probably kill him in "one out of a million" fights. Leon, a man who while usually calm and collected is still very assured of his strength, doesn't deny that statement and merely states that's exactly why he would never pick a fight with Guy, as he only picks fights he knows he'd always win in. Guy then states Leon shouldn't put himself down, as the mere fact that Leon even has a ''chance'' of beating him already makes him one of the strongest in the world.
** When Hinata once asked Luminous (a True Demon Lord herself) if she could defeat Milim or Guy, Luminous stated that while she would ultimately lose to Milim, she could at least be confident she could outsmart the Dragonoid and give a good showing. She then goes on to plainly state that she would have ''no chance'' against Guy.
* AwesomeByAnalysis: Guy is capable of taking the measure of people and their abilities with only a few looks and moments of observation. With only a few exchanges, he figured out the basic function of [[spoiler:Yuuki's [[AntiMagic Anti-Skill]]]] and more importantly how to get pass it.
* CurbStompBattle: Absolutely ''destroys'' [[spoiler:Yuuki]] during their brief battle, in spite of his foe not only pulling out every trick in his disposal, but forcing himself beyond his limits by [[spoiler:forcibly evolving his body into that of a Saint, thus removing the weaknesses of a human physical body and possessing the raw power to match the Demon Lords Leon or Luminous.]] The only reason said foe walks at the end of the day is that he successfully convinces Guy that letting him and his comrades live would be more interesting/beneficial in the long run.
* DemonLordsAndArchdevils: The first demon lord to ever exist, both in the sense he's the first to possess the title and the first demon to reach this level of power.
* DontYouDarePityMe: Guy's pride and self-assurance of his strength is such that he ''hates'' it when anyone, especially his subordinates, show any concern for him or get angry on his behalf, since to him any worry for him is disrespect towards his strength and ability to take care of himself.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: When Milim went on her original rampage, it was Guy who stood in opposition to her to save the world, if only for his own selfish reasons and the fact that she'd kill him too.
* ExactWords: He was originally summoned into the world as an Archdemon by a human at war with another nation and tasked with destroying it. So he did...and then destroyed his summoner's nation too just because.
* {{Foil}}: In many ways he's set up as one to Rimuru, being one of the most powerful True Demon Lords in the world with their positions directly contrasted (Guy as the oldest Demon Lord, Rimuru as the newest), ruler of a nation of monsters who serve them loyally, being among Milim's few friends in the world, having the allegiance of primordial demons (Diablo, Ultima, Testrarossa, and Carrera for Rimuru; Misery and Rain for Guy), and the friendship of a True Dragon (Veldora for Rimuru, Velzard for Guy). Even their colors (red for Guy and blue for Rimuru) are usually set up as opposites.
* FriendlyEnemy: Despite being on the surface opposed to each other on principle, Guy and Rudra were very much this in the early decades of their "feud", and it only truly began to grow cold as Rudra grew more cynical and withdrawn [[spoiler:due to the pressure and influence of Justice King Michael]]. Even so, Guy genuinely always viewed Rudra as a friend [[spoiler:to the point that when Rudra "dies" after Michael purges the last of Rudra's soul fragments from his body, Guy sensing it [[ManlyTears sheds tears]].]]
* GodEmperor: Played with. He's one of the most powerful Demon Lords in existence and rules a kingdom of demons with an iron fist, but as he himself is a demon (admittedly a MonsterProgenitor), there are no signs they actually view him as a god instead of simply an unstoppable king.
* HopelessSuitor: Amusingly, he's made offers to Leon for sex in both his male ''and'' female forms. Leon's rebuffed him every time.
* HumansAreSpecial: After he freed himself from servitude, Guy spent much time among the various mortal races and grew to love their cultures, as it was all so vibrant and different from the eternal battles in {{Hell}} that had long ago become stale since [[LonelyAtTheTop he was the near-undisputed top dog]] even among the Primordials (and Noir/Diablo wouldn't fight him to settle the ultimate question). It was why Misery and Rain chose to become maids and educated themselves in the ways of mortals to better serve him, and it was the reason he accepted the role of Arbitrator from Veldanava to prevent them from wiping themselves out [[ShootTheDog even if it meant having to purge some civilizations himself]] to keep them from becoming decadent.
* MeaningfulName: Named himself Guy after the scream his dying victims would give. Pissed off by that he was named Crimson by Rudra after the color of his hair after the Hero bluntly stated he thought "Guy" alone was a stupid name.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Guy ''really'' doesn't seem to believe in such a thing as "personal space", as whether he's being genuinely chummy, such as with Leon or Diablo, or being [[TermsOfEndangerment subtly threatening]], as Rimuru has been on the receiving end of, the demon can't help but practically wrap himself around the other person while he's talking. Rimuru at one point notes an impartial observer of one of these scenes would assume the two of them are ''lovers'' with how Guy is around him.
* OddFriendship: Ramiris is one of Guy's oldest friends, and one of the few that can address him casually. This is odd since Guy is very much a SocialDarwinist, and Ramiris is DitzyGenius who is currently at her weakest.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: From the perspective of the human nations, Guy is the mightiest Demon Lord who spends all his time on the Ice Continent while periodically sending his demon armies out to wreck havoc on the world. The truth is that Guy has no interest in annihilating the human race due to his role as an "Arbitrator", and his attacks are actually meant to keep humanity united through fear while giving his people some enjoyment. It's noted by many in the know that if Guy actually ''wanted'' to KillAllHumans, the West would have long ago been overrun and he'd be at war with the vengeful Demon Lords who have active interests in humanity.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: Is the highest ranked of the seven progenitor demons, who in turn were originally known as dark elemental spirits.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Guy could singlehandedly end the human race and the world if he was so inclined, but he won't because aside from his [[AllPowerfulBystander Arbitrator role given by Veldanava]], he actually ''likes'' the world and humans. His week-long fight with Milim permanently turned the westernmost part of the world into a barren wasteland, and his three-day fight with Velzard in the distant past permanently shifted the planet's axis.
* PlayingWithFire: One of his magical specialities is Fire Magic and one of his most notable spells is "Napalm Burst", which unleashes a powerful flame that burns long after he himself has stopped casting to both ensure his target is turned to a crisp [[spoiler:or, as [[AntiMagic Yuuki]] realizes almost too late, making them choke to death from the smoke and lack of oxygen in their surroundings]].
* PowerCopying: His Ultimate Skill allows him to copy any skill of his choosing that he visually witnesses in action, even another Ultimate Skill. That does ''not'' mean he can use it as effectively as the original holder, [[spoiler:as despite copying Milim's [[UnstoppableRage Wrathful King Satan]], he can only use it at 40% of its max potential since he doesn't have Milim nigh infinite Magicule reserves.]]
* {{Pride}}: The embodiment of it thanks to his Ultimate Skill, and he takes it to the extreme, being so full of himself that he's near-certain about how he's the greatest being in the world. His pride is such that he ''hates'' and punishes OverzealousUnderling behavior that involves his subordinates getting angry on his behalf, as that implies he is incapable of handling himself.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: The ruler of his nation and the strongest member of it, which also extends to his position as the unofficial leader of the Demon Lords. The only one within his nation who could be considered his equal and "partner" would be Velzard, a True Dragon even ''Veldora'' is scared of [[spoiler:and proven when he and a BrainwashedAndCrazy Velzard fight to a draw during the Tenma Great War]], and the only Demon Lord capable of being his rival would be Milim Nava herself [[spoiler:until Rimuru reaches his own pinnacle]]. His two strongest subordinates and fellow Primordials Misery and Rain are on the same tier of power as ''Leon'', yet it's no secret he could kill both of them if he was displeased enough to try. Even the haughty Luminous admits she couldn't hope to win a fight when she would be willingly to give herself some credit fighting Milim, and Dino would rather take the path of least resistance and do whatever he says rather than risk pissing him off.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Despite his young appearance he is several thousand years old, and one of the oldest beings in the world at that. It's a trait he shares with his fellow progenitors.
* SexShifter: Despite being a genderless spirit, he has a male-looking form for battle and a female-looking form for operations. He himself notes the process of shifting between male and female form is so easy the question of gender is really irrelevant to him, though he uses male pronouns for convenience if nothing else.
* SocialDarwinist: Befitting his status as a demon (who naturally gravitate towards this) who reached the pinnacle of power, Guy has high expectations of his peers. When Rimuru challenges Clayman at Walpurgis, Guy has no objections because he wanted to get rid of the weaker Demon Lords for some time now.
* SorcerousOverlord: Rules over the northern continent known as the Ice Continent where no life besides demons and monsters exist due to the environment being polluted by his magic power.
* SuperToughness: Guy's body, even without any of his active or passive magical or skill-based defenses added to the mix, is naturally tougher than diamond.
* TomTheDarkLord: One of the most powerful True Demon Lords in the world, feared by humans and monsters alike, lives in a frozen {{Mordor}}...and he once went simply by "Guy". Sure, it was ''supposed'' to be after the screams of his victims, but Rudra made it clear he thought it was a stupid name and ended up giving him the cooler-sounding "Crimson" surname to make his to-be WorthyOpponent much more intimidating.
* TookALevelInBadass: Was already powerful but gained more power after being defeated by Stellar King Veldanava and a second time after being named by Rudra.
* TheUnfought: Held up as possibly the strongest Demon Lord around and at least equal to Milim, but is never faced by Rimuru or his forces in real combat. [[spoiler:Instead, he serves as an ally against Yuuki's forces and stalls against Chloe in the web novel, while in the light novel he's an ally against Feldway's forces and constantly off fighting the brainwashed Velzard.]]
* UnskilledButStrong: ''Heavily'' played with. His mastery of magic and combat is nearly unmatched the world over, emphasis on "nearly". His old rival Diablo actually beats him in magical proficiency, by an absurd degree no less, and there are people with more proficiency with their skills. Rimuru actually beats him out on versatility upon their first meeting at Walpurgis, having four Ultimate Skills to his one and one of those skills making him even more proficient, but Guy's sheer power and experience are such that Rimuru understands if they fought seriously he would have no more chance against him than against Milim.
* WillfullyWeak: DoubleSubverted. At first glance, Guy doesn't hide his BattleAura like other Demons Lords but instead lets it loose in a chaotic yet invisible malestrom around him. However, Rimuru quickly realizes and Raphael confirms that Guy's ''intentionally'' letting loose his power in such a way to make people underestimate both his strength and control, and to pick out the "interesting" ones who can figure this out, and the fact he can fake this so well immediately reaffirms to Rimuru that to let your guard down around Guy is to offer yourself at his mercy.
* WorldsStrongestMan: At the start of the story, Guy definitely has all the makings of this, standing heads above all his fellow Demon Lords save his equal in Milim and being considered an equal of the [[DragonsAreDivine True Dragons]] themselves. It's to the point during the final arc [[spoiler:Feldway and Michael's main plan for keeping Guy off their backs consists of repeating throwing the BrainwashedAndCrazy Velzard at him to keep him busy while they do their other tasks.]]
* WorthyOpponent: He has several, among them Milim (as one of his few acknowledged true equals in the world), Rudra (his ArchEnemy, FriendlyEnemy, and the first Hero), Diablo (they were friends and rivals in the past before Guy's ascension to Demon Lord, but it cooled off after Diablo stopped caring about gaining power), and of course Rimuru (acknowledged as a rising power worthy of respect).
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: Only one thing truly surprised him in the entire series, Rimuru's Black Numbers. Four of his fellow Primordials, their best lieutenents, and their best soldiers named and incarnated in ideal ArtificialHuman hosts.

A fallen angel who became a Demon Lord and is too lazy to actually rule over a kingdom, preferring to crash with whatever Demon Lord is willing to host him.
----
* AdaptiveAbility: [[spoiler:One of the sub-skills of his angelic series Ultimate Skill, Astarte, is Evolution, which allows him to intentionally evolve his skills into whatever direction he desires even in the middle of a fight. The drawback is that he needs to store up energy in order to fuel the evolution in question, but it's potent enough that he's able to evolve his Unique Skill Sloth straight to the Ultimate Skill Belphegor.]]
* {{BFS}}: He normally wields Crumbling Fang, a God-class sword that's about as big as Dino himself and heavy enough the weight alone is a huge contributor to its killing power.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy:
** In the web novel, [[spoiler:Velda exerts partial control over him by exploiting his old loyalty towards the true Veldanava, but when separated from his influence he breaks the control and is not happy about it.]]
** In the light novel, [[spoiler:Michael exerts influence over him thanks to manipulating him through his Angelic Skill, but Dino maintains enough self-control thanks to his Sin Series Ultimate Skill to fall under MoreThanMindControl...up until Michael stops screwing around and cracks down ''hard'' on the brainwashing.]]
* BrilliantButLazy: He's one of the most dangerous beings in the world if he could actually be bothered to get motivated and serious along with possessing a surprising level of knowledge about the world's history and functions, but most of the time he wants to laze around or at best half-ass things with the least amount of effort possible. This gets him pushed around by other Demon Lords since he doesn't want to put in the effort of putting his foot down, and it tends to factor into his losses in-story because by the time he realizes he needs to get serious against his stronger-than-expected opponents, it's too late.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Rimuru's first impression of him at Walpurgis is that of most people's: a LazyBum who gets into childish arguments at the drop of a hat. But he then notices that Dino is managing to conceal his power exceptionally well, and when he tries to take a better read on him the drowsing FallenAngel proceeds to shoot him an annoyed DeathGlare to make it clear he knows exactly what Rimuru is doing.
* DemonLordsAndArchdevils: One the oldest demon lords, and the last of the three "Second Generation" Demon Lords.
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: [[spoiler:After Veldanava's death and his subsequent RoaringRampageOfRevenge, Dino aborted his briefly-considered SuicidalCosmicTemperTantrum after falling over the DespairEventHorizon at realizing he didn't really know ''what'' he wanted to do with himself now. He half-heartedly continued his original mission as an [[AllPowerfulBystander Arbitrator]] and put some work into watching over the orphaned Milim, but he could never quite build up the motivation to actually give his all to any real goal over the next several thousand years. It wouldn't be until Rimuru Tempest tore onto the scene at Walpurgis to challenge Clayman that Dino felt the first stirring of real motivation in a long time.]]
* DrearyHalfLiddedEyes: His eyes always look bored and sleepy.
* DualWielding: Wields Excalibur in one hand and Caliburn in the other.
* FallenAngel: Originally the highest ranked Seraphim of the angels but became a fallen angel later on [[spoiler:after he went on a rampage when Veldanava and Lucia were killed and wiped out the nation responsible.]]
* ForcedSleep: [[spoiler:He can put people to sleep via the effects of his Unique Skill, Sloth, and later his Ultimate Skill, Slothful King Belphegor, that under normal circumstances will only awake when he chooses to let them. Even foes who have no need for sleep are affected, though they can resist somewhat.]]
* HeavySleeper: His LazyBum mentality is so strong that he can sleep through just about anything, with something like his head slamming onto the floor after Rimuru destroys the table at Walpurgis not even making him budge. The only think that can prematurely wake him is hearing something especially concerning about to happen near him, like Clayman directing Milim to fight Rimuru.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: he comes across as the weakest of the 2nd-generation Demon Lords, [[spoiler:but only if he isn't bothering to dual wield and is only putting in half effort as compared to zero or full power. At full power, he's the greatest swordsman on the planet. When completely lazy and working through minions, his Sloth ability would start building up massive energy reserves.]]
* {{Irony}}: He's a LazyBum who therefore tries to finish fights quickly when actually forced into it...but the powers of Sloth while broken in their own right can't be used right away and take time to go into effect, meaning he has to drag out fights and thus put in more work if he actually wants to use his powers.
* LazyBum: The embodiment of it thanks to his Ultimate Skill, and one of its abilities lets him invoke this on others by inducing ForcedSleep. He actually gets stronger the less he does himself since the skill will start storing up energy reserves when he's doing the minimum personal work that he can release all at once during a serious moment, while the more he uses the effects on himself the weaker it gets.
* MasterSwordsman: The greatest swordsman of the entire world if he ever went serious, the number of times he's done so being countable on one hand.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Despite his young appearance he is as old as the world itself as one of Seven Angels of Origin, much like Guy Crimson.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: Originally a spirit of the light attribute that shifted into the dark attribute. Because of this, he can negate the [[HolyBurnsEvil weakness to light dark elementals normally have]] due to familiarity with said power.
* RegretfulTraitor: [[spoiler:He ''really'' didn't want to betray Tempest to the angels, even holding back quite a bit during the resulting "fights" with various characters in his attempts to capture Ramiris, but his old loyalties (combined with his mental influence from Michael) meant he didn't have a choice in the matter.]]
* SuicidalCosmicTemperTantrum: ''Almost'' underwent this [[spoiler:after destroying the country responsible for Veldanava and Lucia's deaths, as he considered wasting the rest of the world, but he snapped out of it after seeing the orphaned Milim and realizing he had to live on to watch over her, even if he couldn't bring himself to declare her his new master.]]
* SupportPartyMember: Despite the power of Sloth as a Sin Series skill in combat, its true value is in its ability to support allies by heavily weakening enemies for them to finish off, as one of Sloth's most noticeable abilities is being able to store up energy as long as the ''user'' isn't physically exerting themselves. [[spoiler:It's pointed out that if Dino had been supporting his fellow Fallen with his Skill rather than using it to support himself during the fighting in the Labyrinth, they would have been far more likely to succeed.]]
* UndyingLoyalty: To Stellar Dragon Veldanava, the one who created him. [[spoiler:So much so that his death was the reason he became a FallenAngel.]]
* WingedHumanoid: Though he rarely ever reveals them, when Dino gets serious and taps into his true power he unveils his six pairs of wings as a Seraphim, three pairs which are black-feathered and the other three white-feathered to denote his fallen status.

A Giant Demon Lord who rules the Barren Lands in the westernmost part of the central continent as his race's king.
----
* AntiMagic: He possesses the Intrinsic Skill [Magic Nullification], which negates all types of magic by directly interfering with and automatically canceling the movement of spiritrons. To emphasize how powerful this is, ''every type'' of magic (Elemental, Spiritual, Holy) relies on spiritrons, meaning Dagruel is one of the few beings in existence no offensive magic can directly work against.
* TheBigGuy: Of the demon lords, this guy has physical strength to spare, and may even be the strongest of them all in brute force, being an equal match to ''Veldora'' pre-unsealing. That said, he does not stand a chance against the likes of Guy and Milim due to the fact that brute strength can only go so far. This is also the reason he lost to Veldora later in the series, since Veldora had gained actual combat technique, a whole slew of Arts and had stopped underestimating his opponents.
* BloodKnight: Not as apparent as most, but he is one of the few people who ''liked'' Veldora's rampages and enjoyed fighting him during said rampages.
* DemonLordsAndArchdevils: One the oldest demon lords, and was first demon lord after Guy, Milim, and Ramiris.
* DividedDeity: [[spoiler:Dagruel and his two brothers Fenn and Glassord are in fact the three thirds of the original Mad King of the Giants and "Wicked God", Ashura, who was born as the incarnation of the earth and was ultimately defeated and split up by Veldanava into his components. While Dagruel and Glassord eventually repented of their evil conquering ways, Fenn did not, which caused Veldanava to imprison Fenn in the Star Palace and charge Dagruel and Glassord with watching over the entrance to the palace.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: While overall more a neutral figure for most of the story, [[spoiler: he ultimately joins the villain's side thanks to being beaten and brainwashed by his still-evil brother Fenn.]]
* FriendlyEnemy: One-sided on his part with Luminous. Their territories are right next to each other and they've had many border skirmishes in their time, but Dagruel doesn't hate her and in fact admits he admires her strength and cunning. Of course, he also admits he wouldn't hesitate to kill her if given the chance [[spoiler:and he's always held a bit of a grudge about how she killed her progenitor and his best friend, Twilight Valentine.]]
* LargeAndInCharge: He's two meters tall and bulging with muscle, and he's one of the toughest Demon Lords out there.
* {{Mordor}}: The Barren Lands, as the name suggests, are a wasteland of desert caused from the showdown between the rampaging Milim Nava and Guy Crimson [[spoiler:and is the location of the Heaven Tower, the only reliable way to reach Veldanava's Star Palace in the mortal world]]. The thing is, this was actually ''an ideal scenario'', as Dagruel managed to contain most of the energy the two were throwing around in a pocket dimension, with the desert being caused by ''residual'' energy that leaked through a dimensional crack. The need for resources to support his people in the aftermath of such an ecological disaster is also a big part of why Dagruel contests with Luminous for territory.
* NoSell: He's [[AntiMagic immune to magic]] [[spoiler:apart from magic considered to be of a healing or restoration type, which Veldora exploits by using him as a fuel source for a land regeneration spell.]]
* OlderThanHeLooks: One of the first living beings of the world, yet he doesn't appear any older than middle-aged.
* OurGiantsAreBigger: Feared as the great Titan throughout the continent.
* PhysicalGod: [[spoiler:His true form is that of Ashura, the three-headed and six-armed Mad Titan who once sought to bring havoc upon the world, and is regained by re-merging with his two brothers. To emphasize how powerful he is in this state, it took ''Veldanava'' himself to beat him back then.]]
* TheRival: To Veldora, who admits they've fought each other several times but never with a clear victor.
* TheStoic: For a guy well-known for his UnstoppableRage that gave him his RedBaron, usually Dagruel is a very calm and observant individual.
* UnskilledButStrong: Noted to lack an Ultimate Skill, but is instead referred to as an Ultimate Being, and is one of the few beings in existence to be strong enough to challenge those with an Ultimate Skill without one. Rimuru also notes during the Walpurgis that Dagruel, unlike [[WillfullyWeak Guy intentionally releasing his power in a reduced yet uncontrolled state]], Dagruel isn't trying at all to restrain his aura but that the sheer potency of the aura makes it clear he's not one to be underestimated.
* UnstoppableRage: His rage lets him increase his magic power and size.
* TheWrongfulHeirToTheThrone: Not him, but he regards his three sons as this. He banished and sent them to Tempest in hopes they'd actually toughen up and learn some good lessons.
* YinYangClash: [[spoiler:The reason why he can't become a "proper" True Demon Lord. The Demon Lord Seed is naturally demonic in nature, but Dagruel's alignment to the Holy element is so strong it can't take root inside his soul and unlike [[FallenAngel Dino]] he hasn't become "impure" enough to change that.]]

!!Ramiris of the Labyrinth
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ramiris.png]]
-> '''Voiced by''': Creator/AnzuHaruno (Japanese), Creator/JadSaxton (English)[[labelnote: Foreign [=VAs=]]]Analiz Sánchez (Latin American Spanish), Yolanda Gil (European Spanish), Marie Du Bled (French), Esra Vural (German), Creator/ValentinaPallavicino (Italian), Gabriela Pellegrino (Brazilian Portuguese)[[/labelnote]]

A fairy Demon Lord who rules over the self-named Labyrinth.
----
* TheArchmage: Her mastery of magic is only surpassed by Diablo, who is equally as eccentric, unpredictable and resourceful, with Diablo having more experience due to being somewhat older and having a more conventional immortality giving him the advantage. Her intrinsic skill is so unique that it cannot be copied at all, even by Guy Crimson's Lucifer or Rimuru's Raphiel, and the closest mirror of the skill coming from the more experienced Diablo (who is the ''only'' character to come close and even then it is not a perfect match). Her mastery of Spirit and Illusion magic ''are'' second to none, being the creator of the former and needing to master the later to ensure her survival.
* BigEater: Whenever her SweetTooth is in effect, she shows herself as being able to eat tons of sugary foods, often eating more than double her entire size in sweets without either getting a BalloonBelly or needing to use a bathroom.
* BornAgainImmortality: While most immortals either have utterly undying CompleteImmortality or amnesia-inducing near-instant revival, Ramiris periodically gets reborn after dying, retaining all PastLifeMemories, and with them her immense repertoire of magical knowledge, through her various rebirths, but with the tradeoff that unlike all other immortals who only lose a fraction of magicule amount after "dying", her physical and magical might get fully reset each revival.
* CantHoldHerLiquor: Averted in context. She gets hammered from one glass of good wine, but that glass was larger than she was.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: She may have the looks and personality of a temperamentally idiotic BoisterousWeakling, but underestimate her at your own peril, since not only is she actually a decent example of WeakButSkilled when she needs to be, but facing her with malicious intent within one of her labyrinths is practically suicide, since her status as a DomainHolder makes any insults or threats a case of MuggingTheMonster, and once angered she'll demonstrate just ''why'' she's considered a genuine Demon Lord.
* DemonLordsAndArchdevils: One the oldest demon lords, second only to Milim and Guy.
* DomainHolder: Her regular level of power heavily fluctuates based on her current physical age, with her being quite weak when the story starts due it being relatively recent since her last reincarnation, but when inside one of her personal labyrinths she is pretty much a PhysicalGod, having RealityWarper levels of power over life and death.
* DumbBlonde: She's technically a GeniusDitz in that she's very knowledgeable when it comes to magic and spiritual engineering, but common sense seems to elude her which, when combined with her general excited nature, leaves everyone around her thinking she's an idiot. Case in point, it took her several seconds (complete with constantly changing facial expressions) to finally realize that Clayman was lying/tricked by Rimuru into thinking Myulan was dead upon seeing the real person, and then she has the nerve to call herself the "Great Detective Ramiris".
* TheFairFolk: While she's not actually an example, just being a JerkWithAHeartOfGold with immense confidence and pride while still possessing strong human-like morals, her overall character deliberately invokes the idea. She's incredibly bratty and temperamental, bringing to mind how most fae were finicky and whimsical when interacting with mortals, and when acting as labyrinth master she pretends to be a rule-and-[[ItAmusedMe amusement]]-obsessed tester who's willing to let people die if they fail, when she's just doing it to trick people into falling for her EngineeredHeroics efforts so that they praise her after she saves them from something they were never in any actual danger from.
* FallenAngel: Of sorts, as she's not literally an angel like Dino, but she was formerly the queen of spirits who ended up "falling" after she descended to the earth to stop Milim's rampage during her battle with Guy Crimson, and absorbing the demonic and draconic energies of the combatants in the process permanently altered her.
* GadgeteerGenius: She effortlessly solved problems with the Magisoldier Project that caused it to fail and explode, repurposing it and upgrading it, and even explaining how she optimized it to Rimuru after he blew it up. Keep in mind, this was the same project that ''Vesta'' couldn't properly complete.
* GirlishPigtails: She has blonde hair that is done in braided pigtails, fitting her childish appearance and personality.
* HatesBeingAlone: She likes giving off the image of a person who enjoys solitude, but it doesn't take more than a suggestion of people leaving her alone to make her desperately plead for them to stay, due to both the boredom and depression she experiences when there's nobody around.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She has an incredibly confident and smug attitude, seeing herself as above most other people and normally acting like a massive, temperamental bitch. But underneath the attitude she genuinely likes and cherishes the people she's close to, and when she's presented with an injustice such as the Summoned Children having [[YourDaysAreNumbered shortened lifespans]] due to terminal PowerIncontinence, she freely offers her help of having superior spirits possess them to stabilize their powers and give them a future.
* MasterOfIllusion: She's a master of mind affecting and illusion based magic, but has very little raw power because she's currently a child after reincarnating herself.
* MilesGloriosus: When she hears that Veldora has returned from assembled representives of Blumund, Sarion, Dwargon, and Yuurazania, she starts boasting that she kicked his ass back in the day and that the "Breeze Dragon" is nothing before her Demon Lord glory. This lasts right up until Rimuru casually drops her on Veldora and tells him to watch her, and the ''instant'' it clicks she's staring Veldora right in the face she faints right on his chest. Veldora is more confused than anything.
* MotorMouth: To emphasize her excitable and hectic nature, she talks a mile a minute ''especially'' when riled up.
* OurFairiesAreDifferent: As the Fairy Queen, she sets the example for what to expect of fairies in this story. Specifically, she's a sprite (a fairy with spirit-like characteristics) with the appearance of a palm-sized human-like woman with PointyEars and dragonfly-like wings -- though flashbacks to her at the height of her power show her as being the same size as a normal human. The lead-up to her story introduction has her acting like a case of TheFairFolk while testing Rimuru and the children, seeming to care more about her rules and whims than people's lives, but it turns out she was just invoking EngineeredHeroics and never intending to actually hurt anybody, with her sense of morality being the same as every other race.
* PhosphorEssence: Her body emits a golden glow.
* PointyEars: She's a fairy with pointy elvish ears.
* SaveScumming: Any of her followers have this by default while within one of her labyrinths due to her blessings and protections. If they die, they will revive at any of the pre-determined "save points" in the labyrinth at full life and strength ready to resume battle with no limits.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: While she is legitimately powerful [[DomainHolder especially in her Labyrinth]], a big reason for Ramiris' utter confidence is because she's counted among the few personal friends of [[DemonLordsAndArchdevils Guy Crimson]], who makes it clear he would kill anyone who killed Ramiris (and most of the time [[BornAgainImmortality she can come back]] while the unfortunate soul can't).
* SparkFairy: Whenever seen from a distance, especially while flying around energetically, she and her fellow fairies are often rendered as featureless balls of light.
* SquishyWizard: As both a Demon Lord and Queen of the Fairies, she's very skilled when it comes to using powerful magic, her specialties being [[SummonMagic Spirit Summoning]] and [[MasterOfIllusion Illusion Magic]], but in terms of physical strength she's just as wimpy and fragile as she looks, with Rimuru (admittedly an already decently strong being even when they first meet) being able to smack her silly with just a light and deliberately weak head-chop.
* StrongerWithAge: She provides a good look at what this might mean for somebody with BornAgainImmortality. As somebody that is mentally ReallySevenHundredYearsOld, her knowledge and skill is vast, capable of utilizing impressive magic in ways most could only dream of. But her physical body has relatively recently been reborn, so her normally strong magical might is barely at a fraction of when she's in her prime, being a SquishyWizard whose spells are currently lacking in sheer power.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: She's a highly powerful fairy with golden eyes.
* SuperpowerLottery: Her Intrinsic Skill [Labyrinth Creation] allows her to create and customize a theoretically-limitless-sized labyrinth at her whim that [[DomainHolder she has complete control of]]. She can also affect ''anyone'' who enters her labyrinths by removing their armor and weaponry or reviving them from death if she's focusing. Most importantly, any of her subordinates have ResurrectiveImmortality within the labyrinths with no limits, and the only prerequisities for being her subordinates are that they must be alive (meaning {{golem}}s don't count, but wild monsters do). Rimuru notes that trying to fight Ramiris on her terms is close to suicide.
* SweetTooth: Ever since Rimuru first fed her some cookies, she took a major liking to eating sweet foods. Afterwards she takes every opportunity she can get to acquire and consume anything sugary.
* TreasureRoom: ''ISEKAI Memories'' shows she has a huge "treasure" room filled with items that fell into this world from {{Alternate Universe}}s, filled to the brim with various things such as remnants of scrapped vintage automobiles, chipped marbbles, unknown machines, parts of a crane, worn-out dolls, empty suitcases, a ''VideoGame/PacMan'' arcade machine, cruise ships and planes (such as an [=A6M=] Zero fighter jet). The latter in particular often came with their still-living-and-scared-out-of-their-minds crew and passengers, who she would help by teaching them the language and sending them to populated areas in exchange for the vehicles in (though she wasn't above sending the jerks to remote locations).
* {{Tsundere}}: She's incredibly temperamental, frequently insulting people and overall acting like a smug and condescending bitch. But it is possible for people to endear themselves to her, and once they do she occasionally shows a nicer side, though she's quick to deny it or say it's because she was flexing her superiority.
* VagueAge: She possesses an interesting case of this. Normally characters that are ReallySevenHundredYearsOld don't count since exact age doesn't matter when they're either TheAgeless or LongLived, but Ramiris having BornAgainImmortality brings this up involving her body's chronological age. The story leaves it open to interpretation if her being relatively young-bodied means she's YoungerThanTheyLook, in her 20's to match her body, or slightly OlderThanTheyLook.
* WeakButSkilled: Her BornAgainImmortality that preserves all PastLifeMemories means she possesses centuries worth of knowledge and experience that grant her a massive repertoire of magical abilities, but her being a relative newborn in a world where StrongerWithAge is a fundamental law of reality means that the actual power she possesses is quite small, so she has to work around her limitations whenever she steps outside her labyrinths and temporarily loses her DomainHolder status.

!!Clayman
!!![[TheManBehindTheMan Marionette Master]] / [[MonsterClown Crazy Pierrot]]
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/clayman_anime.png]]
-> '''Voiced by''': Creator/TakehitoKoyasu (Japanese), Creator/JohnBurgmeier (English)[[labelnote: Foreign [=VAs=]]]Elliot Leguizamo (Latin American Spanish), Ángel Luis Martínez (European Spanish), Jonathan Simon (French), Florian Hoffmann (German), Creator/RuggeroAndreozzi (Italian), Pierre Bittencourt (Brazilian Portuguese)[[/labelnote]]

A self-proclaimed "Deathman" (basically an undead elf) Demon Lord who instigated the whole Orc Disaster affair and is the ruler of the Puppet Kingdom of Jistav.
----
* ActorAllusion: The anime version of the face-off between Clayman and Rimuru has an extra fight-starting scene where Shion performs RapidFireFisticuffs on him. [[Creator/TakehitoKoyasu Clayman's Japanese voice actor]] has [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure plenty of experience]] acting opposite characters with rapid-fire fisticuff attacks.
* AdaptationalDumbass: Downplayed. [[spoiler: In the anime, he gloats that he can revive himself when Rimuru threatens him with death. In the manga he is smart enough to keep his mouth shut in order to fool Rimuru that he could kill him for good, though Rimuru in both cases already knew this and how to prevent it. Also, in the anime and light novel he actually pleads for Kazaream's help before being killed, unlike in the manga where he restrains himself from saying his master's name. Alas, this only provides Kazaream anomity for at most a few hours, as in the process of splitting up Clayman's territory during the same Walpurgis Kazaream's name comes up anyways and everyone more or less figures that he's still kicking and most likely the one behind Clayman.]]
* AintTooProudToBeg: A variation. [[spoiler:He doesn't beg Rimuru or any of the Demon Lords for mercy, but rather cries out for his friends Laplace, Tear, Footman, and Kazaream to save him.]]
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler:Rimuru punches the crap out of him while also using [Thought Acceleration] to speed up Clayman's perception of it by a factor of a million. As one second would equal approximately 277 hours or 11.5 days, Clayman during that severals seconds of beatdown he experienced ''weeks to months'' of pain, to the point that he's reduced to a groaning shivering mess by the end and in the light novel ''his hair starts to fall out''. This is also his ultimate fate, [[YouWillBeAssimilated absorbed by Beelzebub]] for what feels like an eternity to him while it's actually only an instant of real time.]]
* AnArmAndALeg: Shion chops off ''all six'' of his arms plus his tail during their fight. They re-attach once he achieves his Awakening.
* AxCrazy: When he puts on his Moderate Clown Troupe [[MonsterClown mask]], Clayman shows he's very much hiding a lot of pent-up bloodlust [[MaskOfSanity under his suave demeanor]]. It's not for nothing that amidst the troupe he's called the "''Crazy'' Pierrot"
* BadBoss: Thinks little of his underlings' wellbeing. Laplace even chides him for it, stating he needs to treat his "tools" well and not carelessly break them.
** [[spoiler:Turns out Laplace was right since this later comes to bite him when he is willing to let Myulan be killed by Rimuru after she casted an Anti-Magic Barrier around Tempest. Being aware of this, plus the fact that Clayman never treated her in a decent way, Myulan held no hesitation in telling all she knew about Clayman's plans and later switch allegiances to Rimuru, [[AFatherToHisMen who treats those that serve him like family]].]]
** [[spoiler: For that matter, he tends to rely on brainwashing, threats and deals to gather followers and make them obey his orders, rather than earning their loyalty. The result is that many of his most powerful subordinates are quick to betray him the moment their lives are at risk (Yamza) or when the spells controlling them are gone (Myulan, Adalman and Kumara).]]
* BeatStillMyHeart: Part of the reason for his RedBaron "Marionette Master" is because of his Skill [Marionette Heart], which allows him to remove the hearts of others and magically preserve them. By literally controlling their hearts, he can goad his victims into working for him on the threat of death. [[spoiler:Myulan is only able to get around this by Rimuru literally creating a new heart and replacing it.]]
* BenevolentBoss: [[spoiler:What he becomes during his third loop.]]
* CantCatchUp: Clayman is one of the weaker Demon Lords and strictly speaking shouldn't count among the Ten, if not [[TheChessmaster for his scheming]]. [[spoiler:Laplace reminds him he's one of the ''weakest'' members of the Moderate Clown Troupe.]]
* TheChessmaster: His skill for intrigue is the only reason that he ''is'' a Demon Lord, otherwise he'd be a [[CantCatchUp fairly average mazoku]]. [[spoiler:He was even designed this way, sacrificing raw power for more intellectual ability.]]
* CircusOfFear: The Moderate Clown Troupe, a group of Mazoku doing his[[note]][[spoiler:actually, Kazaream's]][[/note]] bidding.
* TheComicallySerious: In his first appearance in ''The Slime Diaries'' Episode 6, he's giving a dramatic monologue about his EvilPlan...all while putting on a pink apron, oven mittens, and baking cap as he makes scones while dramatic music plays in the background.
* CurbStompBattle:
** Suffers a ''brutal'' one at the hands of Shion. His magic at best is only distracting and annoying to her and at worst a NoSell, and when he engages her in melee it only takes a middling amount of effort on her part to completely overpower him before destroying his weapons, breaking his arms, and when he heals them flat-out ''cuts them off'' with almost no chance to retaliate.
** In the end, [[spoiler:even with both of them powered up as True Demon Lords]], his final fight with Rimuru is this. Clayman himself ''knew'' he couldn't hope to beat Rimuru in a straight fight, much less the rest of the assembled Demon Lords, and was focused on simply creating a big enough opening [[KnowWhenToFoldEm to escape]]. Yet even his [[TheWorfBarrage strongest move didn't give Rimuru more than a second's pause]], and Rimuru proceeds to hand him a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown. The only concession in Clayman's favor in the end is that he didn't sell out his companions like Rimuru demanded of him.
* TheDandy: Always sharply dressed, suave and elegant. Him [[BattleStrip stripping off his suit and dress shirt]] is a symbol of him finally dropping all pretense to fight [[TheBerserker with all he has]].
* DecoyLeader: [[spoiler:Actually works as a front for his former boss and Demon Lord, Kazaream.]]
* DramaticIrony: [[spoiler:The Demon Lord who aspired to be a master manipulator ended up being the UnwittingPawn of even greater powers.]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: For all his BadBoss tendencies, Clayman has a genuine friendship with and love for his fellow members of the Moderate Clown Troupe [[spoiler:and their master.]] He refuses to divulge any info about them despite being helpless before Rimuru, [[spoiler:he manages to experience a villainous HeroicSecondWind from ThePowerOfFriendship due to refusing to disappoint his close companions by dying a meaningless death, and his last spoken words are begging them to come and save him, with his very last thoughts spent regretting that he mistrusted Laplace.]]
* FantasticRacism: He refuses to acknowledge Rimuru's growth as a rising power, believing a mere slime has no business declaring himself a Demon Lord out of spite for Rimuru getting in the way of his plans and even believing the only reason Rimuru's gotten so far is because of Veldora, not his own merit.
* FightingAShadow: [[spoiler: Even if he gets killed, his astral body allows him to revive. Of course, if Rimuru consumes him entirely, he can't revive.]]
* FlunkyBoss: [[spoiler:The moment he is ordered to fight Rimuru during the Walpurgis, he is quick to order his servants and a ([[NotBrainwashed pretend]]) brainwashed Milim to do the fighting for him. While Rimuru does the same, he at least decides to face Milim rather than letting Shion or Ranga do it.]]
* {{Foil}}: He prefers to [[BadBoss force his subordinates to do his bidding]] through [[TheDreaded fear]], [[ManipulativeBastard manipulation]] and [[AnOfferYouCantRefuse threat of inevitable death]]. This sets him up as a contrasting figure to our hero Rimuru, who rules through kindness and understanding, is AFatherToHisMen and is a UniversallyBelovedLeader. Naturally, when Rimuru finds ways around Clayman's manipulation, the wannabe demon lord has little left in the way of aces in the hole. They are even foils when it comes to their HiddenDepths - the normally nice and kind Rimuru is [[spoiler:perfectly willing to massacre thousands of soldiers, including some who had already surrendered, [[WellIntentionedExtremist to ensure his ascension as a Demon Lord so he can raise his fallen comrades from the dead]]]], while Clayman, for all his vileness, [[spoiler:[[VillainousFriendship has]] TrueCompanions in the form of his fellow Moderate Clown Troupe members and his master Kazaream, and is able to [[OneWingedAngel evolve into a True Demon Lord]] solely through ThePowerOfFriendship, a feat that Rimuru was '''not''' able to accomplish!]]
* GenreBlindness: If nothing else, he '''really''' should have suspected that [[spoiler:Milim is '''far''' too powerful for him to control easily. Instead, once he gets his [[ArtifactDomination mind control necklace]] on her, he is 100% convinced that he is now unbeatable and proceeds to heap abuse upon her. This meant that his demise was all but guaranteed '''long''' before Rimuru even got to him.]]
* GlassCannon: His magic is certainly dangerous, [[spoiler:but Shion quite easily beats him to a pulp with a barrage of punches. Clayman only recovers from this due to his HealingFactor.]]
* AGlassInTheHand: After Laplace leaves [[spoiler:after giving him a warning to be careful about Milim and insinuating someone might be trying to manipulate him]], Clayman breaks the wine glass in his hand and spills the contents all over his suit and the floor as his frustration and concern over his friend's words and implications boils over.
* HatedByAll: Absolutely ''none'' of the current Demon Lords like or even really respect Clayman, viewing him as either a nobody, a schemer aiming too high for his capability, or just a distasteful worm to be around.
* HealingFactor: He has Ultraspeed Regeneration, allowing him to swiftly recover from even grievous physical wounds. However, because Shion has a SoulCuttingBlade, he's unable to heal from having his limbs chopped off because his spiritual body was damaged as well, [[spoiler:with only his Awakening allowing him to restore his limbs since it strengthens and transforms him on a physical ''and'' spiritual level.]]
* TheHeavy: A large chunk of the story's conflicts starting with the Orc Disaster and leading up to the Warpurgis Arc can be attributed to Clayman's machinations.
* HeWhoMustNotBeNamed: Gelmud always refers to him as "he", "his", "him" even in the midst of his breakdown, and Rimuru demanding to know who Gelmud's boss really is sends him into even more of a scrambling panic.
* HiddenDepths: ''The Slime Diaries'' reveals he's skilled at and presumably enjoys baking.
* {{Hypocrite}}
** He claims that Rimuru is person who give the Demon Lords a bad name and that they should purge him. [[spoiler: Which is ironic considering that Clayman had antagonized more then half of the Demon Lords with his actions.]]
** He tells Rimuru not to get conceited just because he has Veldora on his side and accuses him being a weakling who can only rely on Veldora's power and authority. [[spoiler: Which is rich coming from him, as he entered Walpurgis smug enough to hit Milim in front of the other Demon Lords when he though that he had her under his control.]]
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: He acts high and mighty while priding himself on his intelligence, but it's clear that he greatly envies the power of his fellow Demon Lords, many of whom are stronger than him. [[spoiler:He even admits to himself that he was always insecure about being the weakest member of the Moderate Clown Troupe and wanted to achieve his Awakening in part because he thought it was the only way he could be truly their equal.]]
* ItsAllMyFault: [[spoiler:As he's lying in a pool of his own blood with his shattered body due to his injuries from Shion (light novel and anime) or Milim (manga), he finally realizes that he totally screwed up Yuuki's plans due to his own arrogance and can't help but quitely fume and bemoan his transgressions.]]
* KamehameHadoken: His ultimate technique is the "Demon Blaster", where Clayman concentrates his magicules together and [[ShapingYourAttacks shapes them into six long-necked dragons]] before firing it all as a single massive dragon at his target. According to the light novel, this technique ignores all physical defenses and even a magic barrier would be instantly smashed apart, destroying a target from the inside out as it tears apart the very magicules that make up the body. [[WorfBarrage Rimuru devours it with Beelzebub]].
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: [[spoiler:Even after triggering his True Demon Lord ascension, Clayman is under no illusions that he has a chance of surviving at the mercy of the other Demon Lords who have already condemned him. His plan is to first and foremost escape and report everything, ''especially'' about Rimuru, back to Yuuki and the Moderate Clown Troupe. Alas, Rimuru is already several steps ahead anticipating pretty much every move Clayman has left.]]
* TheManBehindTheMan: His main modus operandi is to scheme and manipulate everyone around him [[BadBoss with little regard of their own good]].
* MarionetteMaster: Fitting for his RedBaron, when forced to fight himself he mostly relies on puppet constructs, many of which are [[PoweredByAForsakenChild fueled by souls]]. His finest creation is Viola, a puppet that's MultiArmedAndDangerous with the ability to launch multiple varied elemental magic attacks.
* OneWingedAngel:
** When he goes all-out fighting Shion, he unveils [[MultiArmedAndDangerous two extra sets of arms for a total of six arms each wielding a weapon]] while fighting like TheBerserker. Unfortunately for him, he still can't hold a candle to the revived Oni in a physical brawl.
** [[spoiler:When he's all but defeated and pushed into a corner, his earnest determination and will to survive and return to the Moderate Clown Troupe finally triggers his long-sought awakening to become a True Demon Lord himself, greatly boosting his raw power. Unfortunately, it's still not enough before Rimuru and his Ultimate Skill.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Laplace takes note that Clayman's been acting more reckless than usual, [[spoiler:especially in regards to trying to slaughter all of Yuurazania's citizens to gather the souls to become a True Demon Lord at the same time Walpurgis is about to happen]], and outright asks him if he's alright. Clayman finds himself shaken by his friend's words, but brushes them off as he sees a long-awaited victory at hand. [[spoiler:It's later revealed long after Clayman's death that he was [[MoreThanMindControl Dominated]] by agents of the Eastern Empire and influenced to act the way he did.]]
* PersonalityPowers: Befitting his hat as a [[PuppetFighter literal puppet master]], Clayman is defined by his cons and his manipulative tendencies, routinely stabbing backs and sacrificing his subordinates when the need arises. This is deconstructed in the series, as his manipulative tendencies are an open secret among his fellow Demon Lords. When he tries to use raw charisma to try and turn the other Demon Lords onto Rimuru, Rimuru calls him out for being a BadLiar and not a single person in the room takes his side.
* PetTheDog: His entire arc in his spin-off manga is him trying to be a bit nicer to his subordinates, and prevent his destined defeat at the hands of Rimuru. Myulan becomes an example of this when [[spoiler:he still has her heart and decided to let her go by returning it to her. He is surprised that she decides to stay with him out of loyalty despite giving her the choice to go off on her own]].
* ThePowerOfFriendship: VillainousFriendship example: [[spoiler:he ascends as a True Demon Lord '''without''' a sacrifice, solely through his devotion to Laplace, Footman, Tear and Kazaream and his refusal to disappoint them by dying a worthless death. This stands out because even Rimuru, for all his devotion to his friends in Tempest, was not able to use this method to become a Demon Lord.]]
* PrideBeforeAFall: [[spoiler:After he uses the Orb of Domination on Milim, he becomes so confident in his chances of success that he allows his ego to blind him to the fact that Milim was actually NotBrainwashed, and his actions in masterminding the destruction of Carrion's kingdom and attempt to slaughter his citizens after the fact to gain the power to become a True Demon Lord, plus bullying fellow Demon Lord Frey into going along with all of it, ended up uniting all three Demon Lords against him. This results in him vastly underestimating Rimuru as well as forgetting his standing among his fellow Demon Lords, and when all his schemes come undone, his army defeated, and Rimuru has him at his mercy, not one of them speaks up in his defense when Rimuru offers a chance for anyone at the Demon Lord Banquet to do so. He sadly admits that he should have listened to Laplace's warnings, and Laplace and the rest of the Moderate Clown Troupe lampshade this sorrowfully after they learn of his death.]]
* PurpleIsPowerful: His BattleAura is normally depicted as purple, and [[spoiler:upon his Awakening, his arms become coated in purple energy]].
* RealMenWearPink: In his first appearance in ''The Slime Diaries'', the cooking apparel he dons is all pink.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: His normal red eyes are already a sign he's one to watch for, but when he drops the MaskOfSanity this ''really'' shows because his eyes go completely bloodshot.
* RepulsiveRingmaster: He wears a formal tailcoat and acts as the leader of the [[CircusOfFear Moderate Clown Troupe]], giving him this vibe.
* SharpDressedMan: His iconic white tux.
* SmugSnake: He carries himself very arrogantly, especially after [[spoiler:using the Orb of Domination on Milim]], and believes himself to be an infaillible master schemer. However, he's nowhere near as smart or powerful as he thinks he is.
* SquishyWizard: Played with heavily. At first glance, he fits this given his reliance on magic, fighting through [[TheChessmaster minions]] or [[MarionetteMaster puppets]], and self-admittance of hating to get his hands dirty. However, not only does he possess [[HealingFactor Ultraspeed Regeneration]], when pushed to the brink he [[BattleStrip removes his suit]] and unveils ''six arms'', four wielding a different melee weapon while the last two let him cast magic, revealing he can in fact fight physically if required.
* TimeTravel: [[spoiler: He's killed by Rimuru, but because he had unknowingly gained the [Regressor] skill right before he died, he wakes up alive and well 70 years in the past. It takes him an entire loop and a second death at the hands of Rimuru to realize what was going on, but he spends his third loop trying to change his original fate and becomes the protagonist of his own spin off series.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: Kind of. [[spoiler:In his spin-off story, Clayman suffers two deaths at the hands of Rirumu. In his third loop, he decides to treat his subordinates a lot nicer and [[SparedByAdaptation prevent their deaths]]. He's still an asshole, but it's still progress for him to go that far to prevent his army from falling apart and [[FinalDeath dying at Rirumu's hand the third and final time]]]].
* TrueCompanions: [[spoiler:His relationship with the Five Fingers and the rest of his underlings during his third loop.]]
* UndyingLoyalty:
** To his fellow Clowns and [[spoiler: his true masters, Kazaream and Yuuki.]] [[spoiler: He refused to sell them out, even after Rimuru had him on the ropes and threatened to kill him. While being absorbed, he restrained himself from saying his masters' names in desperation. Even Rimuru himself was taken back by this, especially considering how he treated Myulan.]]
** In his spin-off manga, all he had to do to earn his followers' loyalty was to be ''nicer'' to them. When he decides to return Myluan her heart, she chooses to stay with him out of loyalty. This surprises even him since he gave her the choice to leave if she wanted.
* VillainousBreakdown: Suffers a ''massive'' one once [[spoiler:Milim revealed she was NotBrainwashed, and Rimuru's army subjugates his to the point that he manages to ''inadvertedly'' trigger his awakening into a True Demon Lord in order to escape the battlefield. Rimuru was already a few steps ahead of him, and even his new power is no match for Rimuru's. Just as Rimuru is about to kill him, he frantically calls out to his friends as the "inferior slime" absorbs him]].
-->'''Clayman:''' [[spoiler:Wha- Please! I beg you! Don't! Don't do it! Spare me! Footman, help me… Tear… I can't die yet! H-Help me, Lord Kazaream!]]
* VillainsWantMercy: Subverted. [[spoiler:Even before his final OneWingedAngel, Clayman knew begging for mercy from either Rimuru or the other Demon Lords was out of the question after all his manipulations were revealed. His ultimate goal at that point prioritized escape whether by overpowering Rimuru or anchoring his soul to be revived and rejoin Yuuki and the Clown Troupe. Once Rimuru foils both of those, Clayman instead of begging screams in desperation for his friends to pull a VillainousRescue that he knows won't come.]] The anime reverses by having him begging in front of Rimuru, who tells him his death will stick and resurrection is impossible. Unfortunately, his begging falls on deaf ears as the other Demon Lords, plus Veldora, approves Rimuru's execution.
* WeakButSkilled: It's stated by many characters, including his fellow Demon Lords that Clayman isn't a spectacularly powerful person from a combat standpoint, and even considered the weakest member of the Moderate Clown Troupe despite being its leader, but it's made clear he earned both his leadership of the clowns and his Demon Lord title through his scheming and tactical mind. During his battle with [[spoiler:Rimuru and his retainers during Warpurgis, he shows an impressive number of tricks, traps, and countermeasures that, frankly would have made him a dangerous foe to anyone else, and basically had backup plans for his back up plans. Sadly (for Clayman), Rimuru and his gang were either so powerful his tricks were meaningless, or Rimuru was GenreSavvy enough to predict and counter every single one of them. Frankly the only thing Clayman had going for him was his "control" over Milim, and when she dropped the act to reveal he didn't even have that, Clayman was basically finished once his last bag of tricks was depleted.]]
* YouHaveFailedMe: The moment Gelmud found that his scheme is failing at the seams, his main fear was Clayman's reaction.

A self-proclaimed Beastman Demon Lord who rules the Beast Country of Yuurazania.
----
* AbdicateTheThrone: After Milim kicks his ass and Rimuru defeats Clayman, he decides to step down as a Demon Lord and becomes Milim's subordinate.
* BenevolentBoss: He is shown to treasure his subordinates as he went out of his way to help Phobio personally after the latter had made a mess in Tempest and apologized to Rimuru for his bad behavior. According to Grucius, Carrion is extremely tolerant of his subordinates' wishes and whims as he allowed the former to accompany Youm and join him.
* BloodKnight: He loves a good fight, even being excited to fight Milim at first before he realized just how great the gap between them really was.
* CainAndAbel: The Abel to his half-brother Gladim's Cain. They were both possible heirs to the Kingdom of Yuurazania's throne held by their father, but the king chose Carrion despite him being the slightly weaker of the two due to judging he had the heart necessary to care for the kingdom and its people. [[ItsAllAboutMe Gladim]] ended up proving their father right when in a rage he murdered him and tried to take the kingdom by force, only to be subdued by Carrion and the Three Beastketeers and being banished from Yuurazania for all time. During the Empire's war with Tempest, Gladim and Carrion would have the opportunity to settle the old score with the former leading the Empire's Magical Beast Division and the latter being part of Milim's reinforcements to Tempest.
* EnhancedPunch: One of his strongest Arts is "Roaring Lion Punch", where he focuses his energy into his fist and punches with full force. This attack is strong enough to grievously injure even a defensive specialist like Geld, breaking his guard and sending him flying back.
* HiddenInPlainSight: He attends Walpurgis in a winged lion BeastMan form acting as Frey's subordinate. The form and him exuding plenty of magic power makes it so obvious that it's him that Rimuru and Clayman brush it off as somebody who just seems like him, believing if he did attend he wouldn't make his presence, and thus survival of Milim's attack, so blatant.
* KingOfBeasts: His true form and source of his RedBaron is a mighty lion [[OurWerebeastsAreDifferent lycanthrope]].
* OddFriendship: Eventually forms one with Gobta, due to the fact they both go through Milim's TrainingFromHell. In fact, he comes to see Gobta as something of a ''senpai.''
* OhCrap: His starts when Milim finally activates her SuperMode after taking his best attack without batting an eye, and then hits its maximum when she nukes his kingdom into a sea of fire.
* OurWerebeastsAreDifferent: He is a Beastman, a race of humanoid monsters that can change to their respective animals/beasts/creatures at will.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: He's an impressively formidable combatant that can stake a claim as one of the stronger beings in the world, and when faced against Milim he can somewhat keep up with her when she's not being serious, a feat that's incredible in its own right given even a WillfullyWeak Milim can pulverize most people. However, against a half-serious and partially-trying Milim he stood absolutely no chance of even touching her, and compared to the bigger players among the Demon Lords he's more like an aggressive house cat than an imposing lion. It's partially for this reason, and partially for getting his ass kicked by Milim, that he decides to relinquish his Demon Lord title and start serving under Milim.
* ShipTease: [[spoiler:He gets this a lot with Frey after they both become Milim's subordinates, as he told her that she was the only woman for him.]]
* ShipperOnDeck: [[spoiler:After Albis told him about her attraction and feelings for Benimaru, he gave her his blessing and told her to win his heart with all of her might.]]
* SuperMode: His Unique Skill, [Royal Beast Form], turns him into a WingedHumanoid that has both leonine and avian traits and greatly increases his power.
* TookALevelInBadass: After becoming Milim's subordinate and going through her TrainingFromHell, he becomes much stronger. [[spoiler:He latter awakens as a True Demon Lord during the war with the Empire.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: The Carrion who first became a Demon Lord was a BloodKnight who only wanted to grow stronger, but the years of ruling a kingdom softened him into a man who wants to protect his people.
* WorfBarrage: When fighting Milim, we see two demon lords face off, and we see just how much Milim outclasses him. He assumes his strongest form and unleashes his most powerful attack Beast Roar, a [[SwordBeam massive energy wave from his lance]] that completely engulfs her in an explosion. Milim emerges unharmed aside from admitting her arm feels a little numb, now in her [[BlackKnight Battle Mode]], and proceeds to ''one-shot his kingdom capital''.

A self-proclaimed Harpy Demon Lord who rules the Harpy Kingdom Fulbrosia.
----
* AbdicateTheThrone: After Rimuru defeats Clayman, she decides to step down as a Demon Lord and become Milim's subordinate.
* AntiMagic: She can use Magic Jamming on her opponents, which disrupts the flow of Magicules to make her both heavily resistant to magic and negatively affecting any magic cast in her presence. This makes her and her kind a natural enemy of Charbydis, who possesses the same skill, and ironically Milim, who as a Dragonoid has natural {{Flight}} unaffected by magic.
* CainAndAbel: The Abel to her twin sister Nazim's Cain. Nazim was actually the stronger of the two in terms of power due to being a mutant, but because she was born sterile and unable to reproduce at all, she was denied the right to become the queen of harpies by their mother and exiled. During the war with the Eastern Empire, Nazim fought on the Empire's side while Frey fought as one of Tempest's allies with the two sisters clashing and Nazim definitely having a bone to pick with her twin. [[spoiler:Although Frey would reveal during their fight Nazim was exiled to ''protect'' her from Frey, as harpy culture would have dictated the two fight to the death and the winner absorb the loser's power to ascend to the title of Harpy Queen. Since Nazim was sterile and thus couldn't hope to fulfill all her queenly duties even if she did win, she was exiled for her own safety and instead, Frey had to fight and kill their mother herself to achieve the position.]]
* CombatPragmatist: While Carrion's staring in shock at the destruction of his country, she comes behind him and puts a knife to his throat, no fancy tricks required aside from surprise. That's all she needs to defeat him.
* CounterAttack: Her Unique Skill [Duplicator] allows her to absorb the power behind attacks hurled against her, store it, and then launch it all back. Normally, this requires her to endure the power behind such attacks first, [[spoiler:but she takes advantage of how [[LoopholeAbuse harpy-based abilities don't hurt her]] to absorb all of her stronger sister Nazim's attacks before frying her to death with her own redirected power.]]
* TheGoodChancellor: Effectively functions as this after becoming Milim's subordinate. As Milim's personal friend and advisor, Frey tries to get Milim into shape as a proper ruler and administers Milim's territory together with Carrion.
* HarpingOnAboutHarpies: Resembles a harpy with talons instead of feet, but still retaining arms separate from her wings.
* HomefieldAdvantage: Not only is Frey a masterful flyer and expert in aerial combat, thanks to [[AntiMagic Magic Jamming]] she can nullify any magic-based flight to limit her opponents' ability to fight on her level.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: She wears a strapless leotard with a low neckline that reveals a fair amount of cleavage.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Despite her desire to seize the territory of Sarion as her own, she didn't engage in battle due to knowing that her forces would be outmatched in a direct fight.
* ManipulativeBitch: [[spoiler:Plays Clayman like a fiddle in her role of selling Milim's fake brainwashing and Carrion's apparent death, all without ever raising her hand against him herself.]]
* MsFanservice: She's very buxom, has an ImpossibleHourglassFigure, and regularly wears outfits that are designed to show off both her breasts and her thighs. Rimuru finds himself DistractedByTheSexy the first time he sees her during the Walpurgis Banquet.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Technically silver, but it does denote her power.
* NoBadassToHisValet: [[spoiler:After becoming Milim's subordinate and advisor, Frey is one of the only beings who is able to talk frankly with Milim and lecture her about properly ruling her domains. Milim would rather skip the lectures and run off to Tempest to goof off, which causes Frey no end of annoyance.]]
* NotSoAboveItAll: She's a very cunning woman who can often find herself as the OnlySaneMan between herself and [[spoiler:Milim and a lesser extent Carrion]], but she has her quirks too. For example, she had been making trouble and planning to go to war against the {{tengu}} race for some time...because she wanted to build a palace on the highest known spot in the world; which was the capital of Sarion and the tengu's mountain was near Sarion and her own territory, which would make attacking Sarion easier.
* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: She is on the receiving end of it by Clayman, who told her that she has no choice but to continue assisting him due to essentially helping him brainwash Milim and subtly threating her by telling her he would have the brainwashed Milim attack her if she refused his commands. She reluctantly obeys and he promises to make her the "Ruler of the Heavens".
* RegretfulTraitor: After she unknowingly helps Clayman take control of Milim, she is shown to be regretful of her actions as she didn't know what Clayman had in mind and she only had to repay a favor she owed him due to him helping her keep Charybdis away from her territory. [[spoiler: Subverted when it is revealed and Frey didn't actually betray Milim as the two consipred together to expose Clayman's actions and her regret was actually worry that Milim might actually fall under Clayman's control, which thankfully didn't happen.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler:She awakens as a True Demon Lord during the war with the Empire.]]
* TrulySingleParent: While harpies aren't ''quite'' a OneGenderRace in that males do exist, they're in a minority and most harpies have to rely on mating with another race's majin for offspring. As a queen-type harpy, however, Frey is capable of parthenogensis (virginal birth) with no partner required. She actually has ''three'' daughters (her [[PraetorianGuard Twin Wings]] Lucia and Claire, and Nemu), with no word on if they have a father.
* TheUnfavorite: Frey's fight with her twin Nazim reveals Frey always felt this way about herself [[spoiler:since their mother went out her way to protect Nazim via exiling and watching over the mutant in her youth from afar all so she wouldn't have to fight Frey to the death over being the Harpy Queen, whereas Frey had to kill their mother herself for the title. She expressed a sense of their mother "spoiling" Nazim and commented to her slain sister that she was envious at least Nazim knew in the end their mother loved her.]]
* WeakButSkilled: Frey by her own words is only barely equal to Clayman and in fact feels he easily surpassed her in his final form. Its for this reason she decides to step down as a demon lord. That said, her fellow Demon Lords are quick to point out how despite her not being the most powerful, her skills and abilities more then make up for it, with them all specifically acknowledging her as being the fastest and the most skilled at aerial combat.
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: When Nemu casually dropped that every member of Tempest is a named monster, Frey was ''fully'' invested in learning everything Nemu knew.

The Demon Lord who summoned Shizue, and himself is an Otherworlder who rules the southern continent upon which he established the Magic City El Dorado.
----
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:He ends up being put under Michael's control through his Ultimate Skill Purity King Metatron, and it's noted this is a particular danger since Leon's greatest weakness has always been his reluctance to go all out and risk hurting his friends in the crossfire. With such doubts buried beneath his Domination, however, he would be free to unleash his full strength and start wiping countries off the map.]]
* ChildhoodFriends: He had this relationship with [[spoiler:Chloe. Specifically, they were separated during their summoning by a time disortion, which sent her to the far future.]] His attempts at performing the Summoning Ritual for Otherworlders is an attempt [[spoiler:to reunite with her.]]
* DemonLordsAndArchdevils: One of the youngest demon lords. [[spoiler:Although technically he's actually a True Hero, but simply referred to as a Demon Lord for his defeat and usurpation of Kazaream.]]
* FallenHero: [[spoiler: He was one of the three True Heroes of humanity, but left them after several incidents to join the faction of Demon Lords.]]
* HeroWithBadPublicity:
** [[spoiler:Leon at heart is a kind man who does do good things, up to being a True Hero of humanity, and he's earned the UndyingLoyalty and love of his knights and citizens of El Dorado for all he's done for them. The problem is the fact that he's [[PoorCommunicationKills absolutely horrible at getting his inner intentions and thoughts across]] along with the fact he doesn't mind if people don't understand him and come to the wrong conclusions, which makes him look like a cruel EvilOverlord at first glance. Rimuru himself takes note of this and says he's the opposite of Masayuki: Whereas people always assume the best of the teen, Leon instead always gets the worst assumed about himself.]]
** For a great example: Leon went out his way to specifically request or recruit [[KidHero Summoned Otherworlders]] from merchants of varying degrees of trustworthiness and fusing them with spirits, which many assumed he intended to turn into ChildSoldiers. [[spoiler:In reality, he was constantly searching for his ChildhoodFriend Chloe after being separated from her by a temporal distortion during their own Summonings, and the children he bought and fused with spirits was to both give them a safe place to live in El Dorado as well as stabilize their rampant magicule supplies that would kill them in a few years of their summoning. Those children were free to join his armies of their volition when they grew up, rather than be raised as weapons of war]].
* HiddenDepths: Ramiris mentions to Rimuru almost off-handedly about how she first met Leon centuries ago when he came to her to learn about Spirit Summoning and, when she told him it was impossible to summon a "specific person", he ''cried'' over it. It's the first hint for Rimuru and the audience that there's more to him than the distant and cold figure Shizu painted him as.
* HolyHandGrenade: Part of his abilities through his ultimate skill.
* {{Irony}}: In his attempts to [[spoiler:reunite with Chloe]], he performed the summoning ritual countless times with ''very'' specific requirements [[spoiler:likely keyed to specific traits of Chloe's]]. One his "failures" summoned Shizue, [[spoiler:who would go on to be helped by the Hero (aka a time-traveling version of Chloe) and later still become the teacher for the still-child Chloe]], all without his knowledge.
* LightEmUp: Wields such powers due to his Ultimate Skill.
* MisBlamed: InUniverse — [[spoiler: Shizue blames him for yanking her out of [[UsefulNotes/WorldWarII Tokyo firebombing]] and making Ifrit possess her, which brought her not inconsiderable suffering, but on the other hand she'd certainly die hadn't he summoned her, and DemonicPossession was the only way to save her from the [[CoveredInScars horrific injuries]] she ''already'' sustained. Leon could've been less blase about it, though.]]
* OddFriendship: With Guy Crimson, as while he's openly dismissive of Guy's attempts to get him to join him (and his offers for sex), he does respect the Demon Lord.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Despite his young appearance he is three hundred years old.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Guy outright said that even having a one-in-a-million chance of beating him makes Leon one of the strongest in the world. Leon even acknowledges this, and he knows that is the best he can do.
* PoorCommunicationKills: His big issue. Leon just doesn't seem to know how to be frank about his feelings and intentions with anyone but his closest friends, and they need to needle him before he opens up. He doesn't see it as necessary for others to understand what he does, and it takes a lot of time and effort to get a read on him. [[spoiler:While Shizu grew up believing him to be a cruel man who wrenched her from her old life and cursed her with Ifrit, Leon only ever wanted her to be able to live a long life (hence why he fused her with Ifrit to stabilize her magicules and to save her from the horrific burns she received from the Tokyo firebombing as she was being summoned) and actually felt sorrow at her condition but didn't know how to comfort her. When the Hero appeared, Leon let Shizu go with her without a fight because he believed she would be happier away from him. Not once did he ever ''tell'' Shizu this while she was alive.]]
* PragmaticVillainy: As he tells Guy, Leon only picks fights he's certain he'll win, and otherwise sees little need in antagonizing others for what he wants and will enter negotiations without much fuss. One of the few times he'll go against this stance [[spoiler:is if it involves Chloe.]]
* PrettyBoy: Long gold hair, brilliant blue eyes, pale skin, and so handsome [[DudeLooksLikeALady that he's often mistaken for a woman]] at first glance. [[spoiler:It was in fact this trait that pushed [[GreenEyedMonster Kazaream]] into trying to kill him in the heat of the moment, as the sight of someone so beautiful reminded him of the beautiful elven ''princess'' [[GenderBender he once was]] before he was horribly disfigured and mutilated on top of Leon's audicity to declare himself a Demon Lord without going through proper channels.]]
* SevenHeavenlyVirtues: Wields the Ultimate Skill Purity King Metatron.
* WasOnceAMan: As he states when discussing with Guy the events leading into Walpurgis, he's the only True Demon Lord who was fully human before ascending, and thus he knows better than most the tactical value of keeping well-informed about the affairs of humanity.
* WillfullyWeak: At his full power, Leon can sink entire continents into the ocean. The reason he holds back is because, well, ''his nation'' is on an island continent and he has no interest in accidentally destroying it or hurting his people in the crossfire if he can help it.
* TheWorfEffect: [[spoiler:While he ''was'' [[WorfHadTheFlu holding back]] because of potential collateral damage to Luminous' nation, being somewhat mentally unbalanced, and the fact his opponent was [[MoralityPet Chloe]], [[SuperPoweredEvilSide Chronoa]] more or less kicks his ass during their two brief exchanges during Granbell's final scheme, even when he composes himself for the second round and brings out his strongest armaments to buy time for Rimuru's plan.]]
* YouKillItYouBoughtIt: When he initially proclaimed himself a Demon Lord, he pissed off an incumbent one [[spoiler:Kazaream]] who went to try and kill him, [[spoiler:though it's ultimately revealed Kazaream only went the murder route once he saw how beautiful Leon was due to his own envy]]. He managed to turn the tables and kill him back [[spoiler:or so he thought]], and so he got the official title in exchange.

A self-proclaimed Demon Lord who rules over vampires. He is on the surface the sworn enemy of Luminism, but in reality is a part of the system set up by Luminous.
----
* AndShowItToYou: [[spoiler:On the receiving end of this from Laplace, who makes sure he has enough time to realize how screwed he is before crushing the heart right in front of him.]]
* BloodKnight: He loves a good fight and the chance to engage in mayhem. Hinata's recount of their fight in the manga shows he was smiling all the while when they fought while Louis was far more restrained. It was the very reason Luminous chose him apart from his power to be her stand-in Demon Lord terrorizing the humans.
* BloodyMurder: His SignatureMove is Blood Ray, where he [[BloodMagic turns his own blood into magical particles]] and fires them as beams at his targets.
* DemonicVampires: Aside from being a vampire who's also a Demon Lord, Roy is seen and portrayed by the faith of Luminism as one of its sworn enemies in a manner fitting for a Satan stand-in. Of course, it's all an act as he's no less a loyal servant to the "god" of Luminism as the faithful.
* EvilIsHammy: Unless he's talking to Luminous, there's barely a scene where he isn't ChewingTheScenery. Granted, it's at least partially necessary given his role in terrorizing humans, but he seems to ''really'' enjoy it.
* OhCrap: He can only stare in shock and horror [[spoiler:at how Laplace is holding his heart in his grip]], realizing far too late this was one fight he couldn't afford to accept.
* SplitAtBirth: [[spoiler:Louis and Roy were once a single vampire named Valentine, but his sheer BloodKnight and sadistic attitude lead to his defeat and splitting by Luminous' Unique Skill into two separate individuals. When Roy dies fighting Laplace, that lost power returns to Louis.]]
* UnderestimatingBadassery: He believes Laplace to be an [[PitifulWorms insect]] scurrying about. [[spoiler:He learns firsthand the clown is even stronger than him.]]
* WorfHadTheFlu: Played with. [[spoiler:Despite being around the tier of power of Carrion or Frey, even outright stated to be an equal of Kazaream in his prime, he's killed rather easily by Laplace once the Jester [[LetsGetDangerous stops holding anything back]]. The new moon was out weakening Roy, and is the very line Laplace feeds Yuuki and the other members of the Troupe to justify his victory, but the light novel narration notes the power decrease for a vampire of Roy's level wasn't ''that'' big a difference.]]

The ''real'' Demon Lord who rules over vampires, Roy Valentine's superior, as well as the hidden leader of the Holy Empire Ruberios.
----
* AntiquatedLinguistics: She speaks in archaic Japanese, including using the first-person pronoun ''[[UsefulNotes/JapanesePronouns warawa]]''.
* {{Asmodeus}}: Her Ultimate Skill is [Lustful King Asmodeus], evolved from the Unique Skill [Lust] [[spoiler:after witnessing her dear subordinate Hinata seemingly die in front of her eyes due to her HeroicSacrifice against Granbell Rosso and with Luminous herself [[PowerfulAndHelpless unable to do anything to save her]].]] It boosts all the powers of [Lust]] into the realm of a RealityWarper.
* BackFromTheDead: Can resurrect herself or other people back from the dead through her Ultimate Skill, though she at least needs the soul to still be intact.
* BenevolentBoss: She cares deeply for her vampire followers and [[spoiler: for Hinata as well]]. [[spoiler: She is, therefore, clearly saddened that Roy died without her being able to bring him back.]]
* CovertPervert: When she gets into a hot-spring bath with Hinata, it's not the bath that Luminous is focused on, it's EatingTheEyeCandy of a naked Hinata. The latter mistakes her maxed-out, active Magic Sense as just making sure no one tried to attack or peep on them.
* CuteLittleFangs: The narration outright calls her fangs "cute" when she shows them off.
* DebtDetester: Only when Veldora is involved, but she refused to enter negotiations with Tempest until her nation had made proper reparations to Tempest as a whole. The reason being that she did not want to owe Veldora ''anything''.
* DemonLordsAndArchdevils: One the oldest demon lords, having become one shortly after Dagruel.
* DemonicVampires: She is both the VampireMonarch and a [[DemonLordsAndArchdevils True Demon Lord]] acknowledged by the World itself. Ironically, [[spoiler:in the religion of Luminism she's [[GodGuise portrayed as a fully divine being]].]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: It's heavily implied she was the Demon Lord who wiped out a lesser Demon Lord who came to a Walpurgis Banquet with a hundred-strong subordinate army due to recently losing her domain to a "disaster" and needing ''someone'' to act as "stress relief".
* ElegantGothicLolita: She likes dressing in black frilly gothic dresses. Other times she prefers dressing like a maid.
* FightOffTheKryptonite: [[StrongerWithAge As the oldest and most powerful vampire]], she has enhanced resistance to Holy-based attacks that she can heal from quickly despite the burns they leave behind, reduced loss of power from the new moon, and most significantly [[DaywalkingVampire immunity to sunlight]] (which would instantly fry a normal vampire off the face of the earth), making her an "overcomer". Rimuru notes overcomers could very confidently call themselves as having "no weaknesses".
* {{Foreshadowing}}: The manga and anime really liked to hint that Roy's maid was important even after Rimuru notes she's not what she seems, to the point that when doing a reaction shot of all the Demon Lords during Milim's reveal she wasn't being controlled by Clayman, it's her reaction that is shown and not Roy's.
* FountainOfYouth: One of the techniques under her [Asmodeus] skill is called '''Energizing Kiss'''. With it, Luminous can grant a target unending life and vitalize them to a youthful state. This technique was one of the major reasons the Seven Day Clergy had sworn loyalty to her as she would periodically restore their youth as reward for their faithful service to her. Unfortunately, Luminous eventually began to neglect this part of their bargain out of sheer forgetfulness causing the Seven Luminaries to fear they were losing her favor and kick-starting the plot against Rimuru behind her back.
* GodEmperor: Played with. She is the true ruler of the Holy Empire of Ruberios and the "god" of the Western Saints Church, but very few people actually know [[TwoAliasesOneCharacter they're one and the same]], or that Emperor Louis is in fact a PuppetKing.
* GodGuise: She is in fact [[spoiler:the so-called "god" of the Western Saints Church's religion, which shares her first name.]]
* HealingFactor: She has this naturally as a vampire, but thanks to the addition of her Unique/Ultimate Skill hers ''far'' outstrips even other fellow ancient vampires since she can use it on herself.
* HealingHands: She can heal even fatal wounds thanks to the life-death reversal of her Unique/Ultimate Skill.
* HiddenInPlainSight: Many of the high-ranked officials in the Holy Empire are in fact her high-ranked vampire servants carrying out her will. She also spent most of the early story [[KingIncognito pretending to be the maid for false Demon Lord Roy]], with her having almost everybody outside of the 1st and 2nd Generation Demon Lords and their close associates so fooled into believing she's a low-ranking nobody that the only reason it got revealed at all was because Veldora, one of the few who knew her true identity, couldn't take a hint that it's supposed to be a secret, and then Milim blabbed it out-loud while trying to reprimand Veldora that it's supposed to be secret.
* HimeCut: She has blunt bangs, chin length sidelocks, and long straight hair, befitting her position as a VampireMonarch and preference for ElegantGothicLolita clothing.
* HolyBurnsEvil: Played with. She can actually use most forms of Holy magic just fine thanks to her HealingFactor and centuries of experience with it, but extremely potent sources can still hurt her though again she can just heal it over without much difficulty.
* InstantCostumeChange: When Veldora and Milim accidentally out her at Walpurgis, with an annoyed huff she uses magic to switch out her maid outfit with her proper gothic Demon Lord attire.
* KillerBearHug: Her [Embracing Drain] skill has her crushing her target in a bear hug while sending pain signals and draining magicules. Even Veldora suffers extreme agony through it because the pain signals are sent directly to the target's soul, bypassing natural attributes or Skills that cause FeelNoPain.
* KingIncognito: In addition to disguising herself as a maid, she's also donned disguises such as pretending to be a paladin or some otherwise nondescript minor Ruberios noble when visiting other countries. She has the natural charisma and access to wealth to sell the latter, and the combat ability to fulfill the former.
* LastNameBasis: She's generally referred to as the Demon Lord Valentine.
* LesbianVampire: While not explicitly stated, she ''definitely'' has a "thing" for [[spoiler:Chloe Aubert]] (implied to even be the source of why she has the "Lust" Sin Series Skill tree) and in fact is rather [[GreenEyedMonster jealous]] of the girl's attraction to Rimuru despite her own cordial relationship with him. She also has a noticeably close relationship with Hinata that goes beyond her use as one of her strongest warriors.
* LikeAGodToMe: Hinata refers to her as the only being that she can revere as a god.
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: Her right eye is red while the left one is blue. A good way to make her stand out as a VampireMonarch.
* MundaneUtility: Her Cancel Poison means she's immune to all poisons, which means alcohol has no negative effect on her. She uses this to her advantage by being able to ''guzzle'' down alcoholic beverages without pause, and in fact weakens the effect of the skill on herself so she can feel a good buzz.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Her build could be accurately called that of a bundle of sticks, but one of the Intrinsic Skills of the vampire race is called [Steel Strength] and her being a True Demon Lord means she could easily tear a normal person apart like a piece of paper.
* MysticalWhiteHair: She's a supremely powerful vampire with silver hair.
* {{Necromancer}}: She has the power to resurrect the dead thanks to her Ultimate Skill.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: When she demands Rimuru to hand over Veldora, he unhesitantly hands the latter to her despite the latter's apologies, which mind you, are incidents he did ''centuries'' ago. Cue getting Veldora getting his ass beat because he unintentionally exposed her as a Demon Lord. And she ''still'' hasn't forgiven him yet after giving him so much beating.
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: She has many of the classic traits, but one notable difference is that thanks to her age and evolution she no longer needs to drink blood to survive, something shared by all other high-ranked vampires, as well as [[DaywalkingVampire no vulnerability to sunlight]]. [[spoiler:In order to support the lower-ranked vampires, who don't have this advantage, she founded an underground empire beneath the Holy Empire to provide a stable food source as well as a safe haven for them.]] Later on in the light novel it's revealed Luminous [[spoiler:isn't ''exactly'' a "vampire", per say, but rather a High Blood, the original progenitor race created by Veldanava to populate the worlds with life and from which vampires (and humans) were originally born from the High Blood's experimentations on their own flesh. Luminous specifically is the copy/"daughter" of said High Blood, Twilight Valentine.]]
* {{Patricide}}: [[spoiler:She destroyed her "father", Twilight Valentine, sometime after [[NoBiologicalSex they]] created her and she got tired of their MadScientist inclinations causing chaos to the world.]]
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: [[spoiler:She is the true ruler of the Holy Empire and rightly so. To point out, [[TheAce Hinata]] managed to kill Roy and Louis, two Demon Lord-level vampires, earlier on in her career despite taking fatal injuries herself, but she stood no chance against Luminous despite growing even stronger by first passing the trials of the Seven Luminaries. Even Hinata at her peak was unable to defeat the rejunvenated Granbell Rosso, but Luminous (admittedly with the last-minute power-up of fully unlocking her Ultimate Skill) managed it with difficulty despite Granbell unlocking his own Ultimate Skill during their clash.]]
* {{Realpolitik}}: The main reason she takes an uneasy to antagonistic role against Rimuru and Tempest for awhile. [[spoiler:She doesn't hate him personally and even kind of likes him, but him being friends with Veldora and forming a technological-advanced MonsterTown focused on building open coexistence between humans and monsters pretty much runs counter to her own plans against the MedievalStasis angels, her vendetta against Veldora plus his destructive potential, and her human-centric empire's tenet that monsters and humans ''can't'' coexist, all of which could destroy the powerbase she's been building up for over millenia.]] She softens up on this as she gets to know Rimuru and realizing maybe she's been going about things the wrong way and a few reforms to her nation wouldn't be so bad in the long run.
* RoyalRapier: She wields the Night Rose, a Mythical-class weapon named after her former kingdom razed by Veldora and befitting her status as both a True Demon Lord and the VampireMonarch.
* SeriousBusiness: According to ''ISEKAI Memories'' in the original short story "Maid in Tempest" penned by Fuse, maid uniforms are this for her, as she has exacting specifications for what they should be in terms of both sex appeal and use as battle uniforms and claims she got them from [[NinjaMaid Rain]].
* ShadowDictator: She rules the Holy Empire from the shadows since the supposedly human-centric empire wouldn't take kindly to the reveal of their true leader being a monster, which also helps her in sustaining [[spoiler:her ''other'' empire of vampires which lives underground.]]
* SitcomArchNemesis: Veldora destroyed her original kingdom and she has never forgiven him, and all attempts to get on her good graces have ended in failure for the dragon. This doesn't help that Veldora accidentally reveals her name and her role as a Demon Lord in volumes 6 and 7 (and got her name wrong on the first occasion while revealing she's not actually a god to her own Saints to add insult to injury).
* TheStoic: She rarely shows emotion.
* TouchOfDeath: By weaponizing the "Death" aspect of her Ultimate Skill, she can instantly kill almost anyone in her presence if she chooses to.
* TraumaticSuperpowerAwakening: She evolves Lustful King Asmodeus [[spoiler:after witnessing Hinata's apparent "death" at Granbell Rosso's hands and her failure to revive her due to Chloe taking in Hinata's soul during their time loop.]]
* VampireLolitaArchetype: She's at bare minimum a thousand years old (as one of the 2nd Generation Demon Lords her age could easily reach into the 10,000+ years range when compared to her peers [[FallenAngel Dino]] and [[OurGiantsAreBigger Dagruel]]), yet she physically resembles a beautiful pale teenager with silver hair and heterochromia. She also prefers wearing gothic attire for her "official" outfit, though she also likes maid cosplay.
* VampireMonarch: Ruler of all vampires of the world, quite literally since she founded an entire underground kingdom for them within her Holy Empire. She's also the strongest known living vampire.
* VampiricDraining: Her '''Embracing Drain''' technique, which [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin as its name implies]] allows Luminous to bear-hug a target and siphon their magicules right out of their soul. This is how she punishes Veldora for his past transgressions against her since he is otherwise immune to all conventional methods of harm and torture, while this skill sends pain signals directly to his soul.
* WeakButSkilled: By True Demon Lord standards, she's one of the weaker raw-powerwise but makes up for it with her mastery of her skills and her shrewdness in mind. To wit, her ability to conceal and fake her true power is nearly on par with the likes of ''Guy Crimson''. Plus, being the thousands-of-years-old VampireMonarch (as well as the strongest living member) of a species where StrongerWithAge particularly applies since they're effectively TheAgeless means "weak" is ''very'' relative.
* WickedCultured: Downplayed as she's more a neutral, even benevolent if selfish figure, but she does have a fine appreciation for the arts and science. She is so entranced by Tempest's orchestra performance she isn't just the first to applaud their debut, she takes Rimuru aside afterwards and makes a deal with him to hash out a cultural exchange with the extra helping of teaching Rimuru how to get his followers to channel Holy Magic safely, reasoning that [[InstantExpert considering his track record]] he's likely already making progress on that on his own and she might as well make use of the knowledge while it has weight at the bargaining table (Raphael's annoyed silence makes it clear to Rimuru Luminous is right on the money).
* WorthIt: [[spoiler:Touching the Holy Ark holding Chrona will leave nasty burns marks on her, especially since she likes to do it naked to indulge her love for the Hero sleeping within, but Luminous paid no heed to its effect on her since her HealingFactor will just instantly fixes her up once she break contact with the Ark.]]
* YinYangBomb: Despite being a vampire with powers over death, she is also able to wield Holy magic to its full potential.
