[[header:Resistance Starfighter Corps]]
With few capital ships at their disposal, the Resistance relies on its Starfighter Corps as its primary method of attack and defense against the First Order. Led by Commander Poe Dameron, the fighter pilots of the Resistance are a mix of veterans of the war against the Empire, disillusioned New Republic pilots, and eager recruits who believe wholeheartedly in the cause or have felt the brutality of the First Order firsthand.

Born on the Outer Rim world of Akiva, Temmin is the son of Alliance war hero Norra Wexley and Brentin Wexley. After the Battle of Endor, he joined his mother as part of a special New Republic unit devoted to hunting down Imperial war criminals. Thirty years after Endor, Temmin joined the Resistance to combat the growing threat of the First Order, serving in Blue Squadron and becoming known as the organization's best reconnaissance pilot. He also served as the second-in-command of the Special Ops Black Squadron, which he command when Poe was on other assignments.
----
* AcePilot: He's a highly skilled reconnaissance pilot. He also helps Poe Dameron take down Starkiller Base in his X-wing, and lives to tell the tale.
* TheArtfulDodger: In his youth, Temmin was quite involved in the local black market.
* BandOfBrothers: With the rest of Black Squadron.
* BattleCouple: With Karé after they get together until she breaks up with him out of fear their relationship was affecting their work. However, she later reconsiders and they get married, cementing their status.
* CallSign: Flew as Blue One for the Resistance. In Black Squadron, he flies as Black Two until being appointed as Black Leader after the destruction of Starkiller Base.
* CharacterDeath: He is shot down during the Battle of Exogol before TheCavalry shows up.
* CharacterTic: His nervous snapping, which is how he got his nickname.
* ChildSoldier: He began serving the New Republic military when he was only fifteen, although he was working alongside his mother under special circumstances.
* DueToTheDead: After the Battle of Exogol, the surviving pilots of Black Squadron gather together and hold a memorial for Snap on Ajan Kloss.
* EarlyBirdCameo: His childhood adventures are detailed in ''[[Literature/StarWarsAftermath Aftermath]]'' trilogy.
* {{Expy}}: Of Jek Porkins, being a hefty, bearded X-wing pilot.
* GadgeteerGenius: He was something of an electronics whiz when he was kid. In fact, he managed to do the seemingly impossible feat of turning a B-1 Battle Droid (the skinny basic droids from the Prequel Trilogy) into a terrifying killing machine. In ''The Force Awakens'' he is shown performing maintenance on his own X-wing.
* GenerationXerox: His mom, Norra Wexley, was a Rebel war hero who flew as a wingman for the ''Millennium Falcon'' during the attack on the Second Death Star. Despite some initial RefusalOfTheCall, he ends up following in his mom's footsteps, first joining her special commando unit and eventually flying as Poe's wingman for the attack on Starkiller Base.
* HappilyMarried: Marries Karé during their tenure together in Black Squadron. Poe notes that despite their differences, the two of them are a perfect couple.
* InSeriesNickname: Snap, which he got because he has a habit of snapping his fingers when nervous or frustrated.
* JumpedAtTheCall: He was part of the founding group of Resistance members.
* TheMentor: He was Jessika Pava's. She initially failed her live-fire piloting test to join the military, but Snap saw potential in her and used his connections to get her in and took responsibility for training her himself, which led to Jess becoming one of the best pilots in the Resistance.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Has this reaction in ''Aftermath'' when his plan to stay on Akiva by [[spoiler:selling out Sinjir and Jas to the Empire blows up in his face and he learns the hard way about making deals with Imperial Stormtroopers breathing down your neck]].
* MyGreatestFailure: While leading Black Squadron in the aftermath of the destruction of Starkiller Base on a mission to find allies for the Resistance, Snap is tricked by King Siroc of Pastoria into eliminating a rival who opposed the First Order under the belief they were actually a pro-First Order terrorist. This and other failures on the mission make Snap question his leadership skills and make him understanding of Poe's mutiny against Holdo when they reunite.
* OldSoldier: He is closer to fifty than forty, and he has been serving in the Rebel Alliance/New Republic/Resistance military forces since he was ''fifteen''. He takes exception when Karé Kun compares him to L'ulo, another veteran of the war against the Empire who is much older than Temmin.
* ParentalAbandonment: His father was taken from him by the Empire and his mother joined the Rebel Alliance when he was a little kid. It takes him awhile to get over this and reconcile with his mom.
* PutOnABus: According to AllThereInTheManual, he was likely sent to other evac points or on missions after the destruction of Starkiller Base along with other pilots like Jessika, which is why we don’t see him in ''Film/TheLastJedi''.
* RankUp: He is promoted to from Captain to Major between ''The Last Jedi'' and ''The Rise of Skywalker''.
* RefusalOfTheCall: He originally wanted nothing to do with the Rebel Alliance/New Republic or with his mother or even leaving Akiva, having become quite adapt at dealing with Akiva's criminal element. Circumstances and a major mistake (see MyGodWhatHaveIDone) eventually cause him to rethink this attitude.
* ShipTease: Nearly admits to Karé that he has feelings for her when Temmin thought he was going to die. She confronts him about it when they return to base and reveals she also has feelings for him, leading to the two to start dating.
* TragicKeepsake: Keeps a copy of Mister Bones' code with him as a good luck charm. This comes in handy when Poe is stranded with a BX-commando droid that refuses to fight: Temmin transmits the code from orbit to the droid, who becomes a murder-machine and slaughters most of Terex's men.
* UndyingLoyalty: He has known Leia since he was a teenager and has complete faith in her leadership. The reveal of Darth Vader as her father did nothing to shake that loyalty and he was one of the first pilots to join the Resistance when she formed it.
* WartimeWedding: He and Karé are married by Leia immediately after they get back together, knowing that the time for such things in the Resistance is short and that open conflict with the First Order looms close.
* {{Wingman}}: He was Poe's longest serving and most frequent wingman. After Snap's death, Poe praises him as the best wingman he ever had flown with.

-->''"Pava. Jessika Pava. Blue Three."''

A human female from Dandoran, Jess is a skilled X-Wing pilot and mechanic. While normally assigned to Blue Squadron, she is also a member of Black Squadron, Poe's secret special-ops unit dedicated to locating Lor San Tekka.
----
* AcePilot: Like Poe, Wexley, and Nunb, Jess is one of precious few pilots to come out of the assault on Starkiller Base still in one piece. On those grounds alone, she definitely qualifies.
* ActionGirl: Aside from being a skilled pilot, Jess is also skilled with a blaster. During Black Squadron's infiltration of Megalox prison Jess' quick thinking saves them when she uses gas grenades to take out a large number of prisoners attacking them.
* AscendedFangirl: She's been a huge admirer of Luke Skywalker since she was a child.
* BandOfBrothers: With the rest of Black Squadron.
* BadassInDistress: During Jess, Karé, and Suralinda Javos' mission to Spalex, they are captured by the First Order. They escape by Jess and Karé running to distract the guards, allowing Suralinda to reprogram her camdroids to crash into the stormtroopers from several stories high, killing them.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Implied. When Suralinda asks why she modifies all her ships, Jess has a flashback to her family in a ship with her mother reacting to something going wrong while another vessel approaches, and only responds "Control." A subsequent issue has another flashback that shows her family captured and bound by an alien, presumably to be sold as slaves.
* EarlyBirdCameo: She appeared in the FramingStory of the novel ''The Weapon of a Jedi'' ahead of her appearance in the movie.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: During the battle to prevent the First Order from capturing Lor San Tekka, Jess' X-Wing was disabled and a missile was coming directly at her. She made peace with her death, noting it would at least be quick and the mission was a success, but her astromech
Ivee ejects to intercept the missile and save her.
* HeroWorshipper: Of Luke Skywalker, and she freaks out a bit when she meets C-3PO and realizes who he is and that he served with Luke.
* InSeriesNickname: The droids of the Resistance have taken to calling her "The Great Destroyer" due to the number of astromechs she has lost on missions.
* TheJinx: The astromech droids of the Resistance consider her one, as every droid she is assigned gets destroyed on Black Squadron's missions. Eventually they refuse to work with her, forcing Jess to fly without an astromech. Fellow Resistance pilot Zari Bangel tries to set up a meeting between Jess and the astromechs, but they all leave except for BB-8, who [[FlippingTheBird flips out his lighter to her as either a thumbs up or something else]].
-->'''Jess:''' Are we sure that means what we think it means?
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: In the ''Poe Dameron'' comics, Jess, Kare, and Suralinda recorded the First Order occupying a planet in order to show the New Republic the First Order is a threat. However, she freaks out when she sees pirates mistreating slaves, and starts attacking them. Kare and Suralinda join in and the recording is destroyed.
* PlaguedByNightmares: Jessika Pava has nightmares about whatever happened to her family. When Poe wakes her up from a nap, she [[CatapultNightmare shoots awake]] and looks terrified, worrying Poe about her mental state, but unfortunately, the Resistance is in such a bad place at the moment there literally [[ThereAreNoTherapists are no therapists]] to help her.
* PutOnABus: According to AllThereInTheManual, after the destruction of Starkiller Base, she and most of Poe's other surviving pilots were reassigned to other evacuation points or on missions, which is why she isn't seen in the events of ''Film/TheLastJedi''[[note]]Jessica Henwick was not able to reprise her role as Jessika in ''Film/TheLastJedi'' due to filming other projects[[/note]]. The final arc of ''Poe Dameron'' features that mission, with Black Squadron attempting to locate allies for the Resistance, and they rejoin the main Resistance forces in ''Resistance Reborn''.
* TalentedButTrained: She initially failed to join the New Republic military because she failed on her live-fire piloting test, but Snap saw potential in her and pulled some strings to get her in. He then personally trained Jess which resulted in her becoming one of the best pilots in the Resistance.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Dislikes working with Suralinda due to her initial deceit when joining the Resistance and her cynical and often embellished propaganda stories. Jess does save her life on Ikkrukk, but Poe notices that despite that Jess still does not personally like Suralinda.
* TomboyishPonytail: Wears her hair in a ponytail all the time, which makes sense as Jess is a mechanic and pilot who needs to keep her hair out of her face.
* {{Tuckerization}}: Jessi''k''a Pava, played by Jessi''c''a Henwick.
* TwoferTokenMinority: In addition to being a woman who is an X-Wing pilot, she's one of the very few notable Asian characters in the franchise (the others being Commander Sato and Sabine Wren from ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]'').
* WrenchWench: She is a talented mechanic and is often assigned to maintenance shifts at the Resistance base due to her skills. She mentions to Poe that she has even found a way to increase the efficiency of the power convertors on her X-Wing by fifteen percent. Jess uses those upgrades to fly circles around First Order [=TIEs=] on Ovanis, causing them to crash while chasing her.

A human pilot who served in the New Republic Starfighter Corps under the command of Poe Dameron as a member of Rapier Squadron. She joined the Resistance alongside her commanding officer and was a made the leader of Stiletto Squadron. Poe later selected her to become a member of Black Squadron, a small taskforce dedicated to finding Lor San Tekka before the First Order.
----
* AcePilot: She is one of the best pilots in the Resistance, which contributes to Poe choosing her to join Black Squadron.
* ActionGirl: In addition to being a skilled pilot, issue four of ''Poe Dameron'' shows that she is pretty formidable with a blaster as well.
* AlliterativeName: '''K'''aré '''K'''un.
* BattleCouple: With Snap until issue #20 of ''Poe Dameron'', when she breaks up with him due to the belief that their relationship has become a distraction in their fight against the First Order. However, she later changes her mind and the two marry, cementing this trope.
* BandOfBrothers: With the rest of Black Squadron.
* CallSign: Initially flew as Black Five until L'ulo's death, at which point she became Black Four. When Snap was appointed Black Leader, she took over his position as Black Two.
* HappilyMarried: She and Snap get married in Issue 25. Sadly, Snap perishes during the Battle of Exogol.
* ItsNotYouItsMe: She ends her relationship with Snap after deciding that their relationship is taking her focus away from fighting the First Order.
* RankUp: She is promoted from lieutenant to captain upon joining the Resistance and is given command of her own Starfighter squadron.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: After the New Republic refuses to take action against the First Order even after there is proof it is rearming and raiding civilian vessels, Kun, Poe, and Arana all join the Resistance.
* ShipTease: In the third issue of ''Poe Dameron'', Snap seems on the verge of admitting he has feelings for Kun when it appears the squadron is going to be killed by the First Order. She confronts him about it in the next issue and reveals she also has feelings for him, leading to the two starting a relationship.
* WartimeWedding: She and Temmin are married by Leia immediately after they get back together, knowing that the time for such things in the Resistance is short and that open conflict with the First Order looms close.

A male Duros A-Wing pilot who flew in Green Squadron during the Battle of Endor alongside his friend Shara Bey. Following the battle, he is promoted to squadron commander to replace Arvel. Thirty years after the Empire's defeat, L'ulo joins the Resistance and serves alongside Shara's son Poe.
----
* AlliterativeName: '''L'''[='=]ulo '''L'''[='=]ampar.
* CallSign: Flew as Green Two and Green Leader while serving the Rebellion.
* AFatherToHisMen: He becomes extremely worried over Shara's mental state after she keeps volunteering for mission after mission, worrying that her dedication to the Rebellion may be too extreme and that she will get herself killed. Eventually, when he finds out Kes already submitted his retirement papers and was approved but Shara did not, L'ulo does it for her so she will live and be able raise her son.
* HeroicSacrifice: Goes out fighting to protect escape pods that are under fire from Terex's pirate crew.
* HonoraryUncle: To Poe Dameron.
* HumanoidAlien: Duros like L'ulo have a human body shape but a distinctively alien appearance.
* KilledMidSentence: He is in the middle of gloating over destroying several pirate fighters when his own ship is destroyed.
-->'''L'ulo:''' Ha! That's how a Rebel pilot does it, you low-down, dirty—
* LeeroyJenkins: In the ''Poe Dameron'' comics, he fires on some First Order TIE fighters, starting a battle, despite having orders to keep the situation peaceful. Poe gently rebukes him for this later.
* NiceGuy: Immediately gives permission for Shara to head down to Endor's moon and discover if her husband is alive, and acts as a reasonable and supportive friend to her on many other occasions.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Kes. He's the only one who stuck around even after Kes pushed everyone away after Shara died.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Although the fleet is still on alert after the Death Star is destroyed, L'ulo gives permission to Shara to take a shuttle to Endor and find her husband.
* RedHerring: There are hints he might be the mole in Black Squadron as a way to provoke open conflict with the First Order. [[spoiler:He is innocent, and Oddy is revealed to be the mole]].
* OldSoldier: Joins the Resistance thirty years after Endor to combat the First Order. He is somewhat amused that despite his age and experience with the Rebellion, he is still being kept in the dark about details of certain missions due to their "need-to-know" nature.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Kes and Poe. In ''Free Fall'', L'ulo dropped everything to help Kes find Poe after he ran away from home.
* WarHawk: He wants the inevitable war with the First Order to start as soon as possible. Poe tells him that the Resistance should not be the one to start it, and that they need time to convince the New Republic of the threat before war breaks out.

A former soldier in the New Republic Navy who became an investigative journalist for ''Galaxy Beacon'''s Hosnian Prime offices. She contacts her old friend Poe Dameron claiming to have information on the First Order.
----
* TheAtoner: As penance for [[spoiler:lying to Poe so that he would take her to the Resistance's base, all so that she could boost her reputation as a reporter by revealing it to the galaxy and only stopping short of doing so after seeing how necessary the Resistance really was,]] she admits to everything and offers to do whatever they ask of her, no matter how menial, as long as she can help.
* GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe: She is from a humanoid species with blue skin and pointed ears.
* PragmaticHero: As part of her job in crafting pro-Resistance and anti-First Order propaganda, Javos has little problem with bending the truth or leaving out certain details to present a more clear cut "good vs. evil" story, like framing [[spoiler:Oddy's death as a heroic sacrifice to save his friends from the First Order while leaving out his role as a spy who had betrayed the Resistance due to the kidnapping of his wife]].
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: Morally ambiguous, at least. [[spoiler:She tells Dameron she has information on the First Order. In reality, she has no story and is hoping to find the Resistance's base. She pays off mercenaries to fake a First Order attack but when the real First Order shows up and massacres a bar full of people, she decides to join the Resistance.]]
* RubberWoman: To a slight extent: she can extend the length of her arms and legs by a few feet, giving her a longer reach than most humanoids, although the process seems somewhat painful judging by the noises it makes. Javos uses this skill at one point to climb to the top of a cave and hold herself there to ambush several First Order collaborators. She's also shown to be able to rotate her head a full 180 degrees.
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: When the rest of Black Squadron voices their discomfort with Javos' planned propaganda piece about Oddy and how it bends the truth, she scoffs at their naiveté.
-->'''Javos:''' It tells the story of Oddy Muva, ace pilot and hero of the Resistance, who saved Black Squadron and single-handedly took down an entire First Order cruiser on his own. And he did it all for love. I think that's a pretty good story, don't you?\
'''Poe:''' Yeah, but it's not exactly…\
'''Javos:''' True? Grow up Poe Dameron. There's a war on.
* SixthRanger: To Black Squadron, only officially joining well after its establishment.
* SuperSpit: One of the abilities of her species. Comes in handy when she escapes from First Order custody, and she later uses it again to burn the faces of several Ikkrukkians collaborating with the First Order.

A Sullustan who serves as a freelance pilot for the Rebellion. He participated in several operations flying his freighter, the ''Mellcrawler'', and later assists Lando in flying the ''Millennium Falcon'' during the Battle of Endor. Thirty years after the Battle of Endor, Nunb is among several Alliance veterans who joins the Resistance to combat the growing threat of the First Order.
----
* AcePilot: He is a skilled enough pilot to sneak a fairly large starship onto a planet's surface without being detected by an orbiting Star Destroyer. Nunb later helps Lando copilot the ''Falcon'' during the Battle of Endor, helping guide it through the battle and the run through the second Death Star; thirty years after that, he pilots his own ship into the assault on Starkiller Base, living to tell the tale after the fact. He also pilots the salvaged ''Tantive IV'' during the Battle of Exegol.
* AlliterativeName: '''N'''ien '''N'''unb.
* ArmsDealer: Prior to joining the Rebellion, Nunb smuggled and sold weapons.
* BigDamnHeroes: Saves Namir Hazram from being captured by the Empire in ''Twilight Company'' by ambushing the Stormtroopers arresting him.
* BilingualDialogue: With Lando. He is actually speaking Haya, a real African language, giving a BilingualBonus on their full conversation, which is full of RepeatingSoTheAudienceCanHear:
-->'''Nunb:''' ''I'm not getting any reading on the shield''.\
'''Lando:''' We've got to be able to get some kind of reading on that shield, up or down.\
'''Nunb:''' ''I think they're jamming us''.\
'''Lando:''' How could they be jamming us if they don't know... [[OhCrap if we're coming]].
* CallSign: As a member of the Resistance's Red Squadron, he flew as Red Three during the Battle of Starkiller Base.
* CharacterDeath: He dies at the Battle of Exegol when Palpatine unleashes his Force lightning storm on the Resistance fleet.
* DeadpanSnarker: ''Moving Target'' has him frequently snarking about everything and everyone, much to Leia's amusement since the rest of her team can't understand him.
* DeathByAdaptation: He was still alive as of his last chronological appearance in ''Legends'' (43.5 ABY vs the Battle of Exegol's 35 ABY in Canon).
* FriendInTheBlackMarket: For Evaan. He provided her the services of his ship and all the weapons he had onboard free of charge in order to aid the survivors of Alderaan.
* JawDrop: He does this when he thinks that they are about to hit a low ceiling while flying through the Death Star. They just barely manage to tip the surface.
* JumpedAtTheCall: When Leia contacted old Rebels to join the Resistance, Nunb was among the first to answer her call.
* OhCrap: When he and Lando realize the Death Star II is fully operational.
* OldSoldier: With thirty years between the battles of Endor and Starkiller Base, Nunb has been piloting and fighting for the Rebellion and Resistance longer than some of his wingmates in Poe's squadron have been alive. Driving this home, he's one of the very few pilots who actually survive the destruction of Starkiller Base and the Battle of Crait, the latter of which trimmed the Resistance down to only enough people to fill up the ''Millennium Falcon''.
* RebelLeader: Helps command the Rebel cell on his homeworld shortly after the Battle of Hoth. Nunb even helps lead the planet in a revolt against the Empire that successfully kicks them off the planet.

* JumpedAtTheCall: He was extremely excited about being assigned to work with Leia on a dangerous assignment, later volunteering for more off the books investigations. In the end, Joph becomes one of the founding members of the Resistance, recognizing that there is a hidden threat to the New Republic that no one else but Leia and her allies will respond to.
* LukeNounverber: In grand ''Star Wars'' tradition.

As a sign of trust, she confesses her identity to Tam, who understands what would happen if she reported this to her superiors.

** She threatens to do in a stormtrooper if he wrecks her X-Wing.
* MeaningfulName: Her name is a corruption of "Vanessa", which is a name used for a genus of butterflies, befitting not only a pilot, but also someone who helps change people for the better.
* MissingMom: She's Torra's mother, but she left six years prior to [[Recap/StarWarsResistanceS2E8RendezvousPoint "Rendezvous Point"]] to join the Resistance.
* NoYou: Upon being captured by Tierny and her men, the agent demands that she identify herself, to which our pilot replies "You first." Tierny is not amused.
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: She ends up having this to Kaz, as she happens to be Hugh and Norath's squadron commander, two people with separate connections to him.
* ParentsAsPeople: When the First Order became a known threat, she left to join the Resistance in order to protect people including her daughter, but her husband disagreed and wanted to stay out of it, not wanting to get involved in another war. Though they've had countless arguments about it, they still love and care about each other and Torra dearly.
* RousingSpeech: Gives one at a briefing in and later at the end of "Rebuilding the Resistance". Yeager and Doza note that she used to give these all the time back in the day.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Downplayed. Her husband is more grounded while she is rather suave, but that it isn't to say that she isn't serious either.
* ShoutOut: To ''WesternAnimation/ObanStarRacers'', in which the protagonist (whom Torra appears to be based off of) has a MissingMom, who is TheLostLenore to the protagonist's father and was also an AcePilot like her daughter.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: Her homeworld was polluted and ultimately destroyed by the First Order's mining and weapons testing, resulting in the deaths of her and Rose's parents as well. It is this that inspires her to fight with the Resistance.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: As she's swallowed up in the explosion of her bomber (the ''Cobalt Hammer''), Paige merely closes her eyes and clutches her necklace.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: According to Rose, Paige was a serious animal lover, with fathiers being her favorite.
* HeroicSacrifice: During Poe's successful--if costly--Dreadnought strike at the start of ''The Last Jedi'', hers is the only bomber to make it to the drop point. With her co-pilot dead, she’s forced to detonate her payload while still in the blast radius. She succeeds in blowing up the First Order’s dreadnought, at the cost of her life (alongside many others).
* NervesOfSteel: She keeps a level head during Poe's assault on the Dreadnought, even as she finds her crew dead, is knocked to the ground by an explosion, hears Poe screaming in her ear to drop the payload, and has only a limited time to act. In the novelization, Rose describes her as the type of person who would be completely poised [[{{Foreshadowing}} even if her ship was unresponsive and turbolaser fire was all around her]].
* SacrificialLamb: Paige dies in the first act of ''The Last Jedi'' to give her sister, Rose, a motive.
* SiblingTeam: With her younger sister Rose in Rose's ''Age of Resistance'' issue.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Her sacrifice comes early during the first act of ''The Last Jedi.''
* WorthyOpponent: Although Paige has no idea, nor can Captain Canady possibly know who dropped the payload of bombs on his ship (the First Order Dreadnought ''Fulminatrix''), the First Order and ex-Imperial officer seems to exhibit a degree of silent, grim admiration for Paige's courage as he [[FaceDeathWithDignity faces his fate]] watching his ship go up in a [[StuffBlowingUp cascade of explosions]].

* AmbiguouslyBrown: Meanwhile, Tiaan Jerjerrod was white.
* DarkSecret: Possibly in relation to his surname that just so happens to be the same as a dead Imperial moff's. [[spoiler:At one point, Jo contacts his parents, who tell him that he's doing well at what he's supposed to be doing and that they have a map to Luke's location. Since no mention has ever been made of Jo's parents by the Resistance and it seems that Jo is doing something may be bad for the rest of the Resistance, it implies that his family works for the First Order.]]
* EtTuBrute: [[spoiler:In the first book, it seems that he betrayed the group, but it turns out to be false. However, in the second book, he betrays the group for the First Order when he, Lorica, Mattis, and AG get captured.]]
* FamousAncestor: The Jerjerrod name is apparently a long line from the Core Worlds, which means that he's somehow related to the late Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod. That being said, however, Jo loathes the Empire's successor, the First Order, suggesting either there's a SinsOfTheFather or something else going on with Jo.
* IcyBlueEyes: Mattis emphasizes his eyes when noting his stoic personality during their first meeting.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Since one of his friends is a Gungan, he throws in random Gungan phrases every now and then.
* SinsOfTheFather: Maybe. He loathes the First Order, likely in part of Moff Jerjerrod and presumably the rest of the Jerjerrods' loyalties to its predecessor, the Empire [[spoiler:...and it is implied that the Jerjerrod family is still loyal to the First Order]]. [[spoiler:However, considering Jo doesn't seem that happy or gung-ho about what the Jerjerrod family is up to nowadays, it would appear that joining in on the family business is [[WhiteSheep a reluctant and unhappy choice for him]].]]

----
* AmbiguouslyBrown
* AmbiguousSituation: Is he really [[spoiler:Force-sensitive]], or is his belief that he is one is a result of his HeroicWannabe behavior to be like heroes like Luke?
* AudienceSurrogate: The target audience of the ''Join the Resistance'' books are middle grade kids that are new to the franchise and/or are new lovers of the franchise, just as how Mattis is a HeroWorshipper and is around the age of twelve to fourteen.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: He seems convinced that the Resistance and its predecessor, the Rebellion/Rebel Alliance, have done nothing wrong, and the First Order (and the Empire) and the Fringe are ''everything'' that's wrong.
* TheCallPutMeOnHold: He's convinced that [[spoiler:he is a Force-sensitive and it just hasn't manifested yet. He's made into the Resistance, but so far he hasn't actually manifested any powers.]]
* FirstPersonPeripheralNarrator: The series is mainly seen through his eyes and we only know as much as he knows.
* GoodCannotComprehendEvil: In the first book, when it seems that Jo had betrayed them, Mattis can't understand why anyone would want to betray the Resistance and the good people in it.
* HeroicWannabe: He wants to be the next Poe, maybe even the next Luke.
* HeroWorshipper: He's a pretty big fan of the heroes of the Rebel Alliance and the Resistance, and [[HeroicWannabe he wants to be just like them]].
* IAmWho: Subverted. He believes that he's [[spoiler:Force-sensitive]], having realized this from the descriptions about those kinds of people from the Phirmists. There haven't been any explicit signs that he actually is one, however, but he claims that he can feel it flowing through his body. He's also kept this information to himself.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: He hasn't done anything too insensitive yet, but he refuses to keep his voice down when he fanboys over meeting Lorica, believing that everyone should know about her heroics (despite that they probably ''do''--she likely did those heroics under the orders of the Resistance, and their meeting is in the Resistance base itself). [[spoiler:Considering what exactly happened that caused Lorica to join the Resistance, she likely just doesn't like people squeeing over her heroics in her face out of both annoyance and guilt/shame.]]
* JumpedAtTheCall: The first line of the series is literally someone asking if he's ready to join the Resistance.
* KidHero: He's fifteen years old at the beginning of the series.
* NaiveNewcomer: He thinks the Galaxy works in a BlackAndWhiteMorality and thinks he's destined to be a hero like Poe or Luke. Though given he's the protagonist of his series, he probably ''will'' be a hero, though maybe not as famous as Poe or Luke.
* NiceGuy: The reason why he was recruited by the Resistance in the first place is because he always held out for the other kids at the orphanage.
* ParentalAbandonment: No word on what happened to his parents or family. He was taken in by the Phirmists, a cult/religious order that believes in the Force.

* DefrostingIceQueen: Initially, she's dismissive of Mattis and the others for being obnoxious [[NaiveNewcomer naïve newcomers]], but she comes around.
* LonelyRichKid: She comes from a rich family that made her do things like enrolling her into an expensive academy (and later a military academy), teaching her how to hunt with the equivalent of hounds and riding the equivalent of horses, and so forth.
