----
* FarEast: One of the two East Asian pantheons in the game, the other being Chinese.
* InterchangeableAsianCultures: Defied, they are distinctly separate from the ingame Chinese pantheon.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Almost averted, the Japanese kami represent various forces of nature rather than being just super powered warriors. While some characters do resemble samurais and ninjas, they don't play the archetype part straight.
* {{Wutai}}: Downplayed. The characters are mostly accurate to their lore, though a few of them do have designs patterned after Japanese cultural stereotypes.

The Japanese Goddess of Sun and its [[TopGod Top Goddess]], Amaterasu is benevolent and well-loved by everyone in the Land of Rising Sun. However, her brother Susano didn't share that adoring and ended up vandalizing and destroying her belongings. Overcome with grief and shame, Amaterasu hid in a deep cavern, Ama-no-Iwato, and as a result of the absence of her, the sun, darkness engulfed Japan and the people suffered.\
For a long time, Amaterasu hid from the atrocities of the world, until she heard a loud noise. Curious to see what it was, Amaterasu took a peek and saw a bronze mirror showing her reflection. While she was distracted, she got pulled out by many hands, and she saw the people who depended on her. This plan was actually hatched by the Goddess of Mirth, Ame-no-Uzume, who was also dancing happily. Amaterasu's smile returned, and so did the light of the sun.\
Thanks to this, Amaterasu vowed to face the calamities that threatened her people and the world, including the war between Gods.\
Amaterasu is a Warrior goddess focused heavily on applying buffs and debuffs with continuous auras.

* Her passive, ''Illuminating Strike'', causes any enemy god she hits with three basic attacks in a short period to be affected by an aura that causes them and other nearby enemies to take 10% more damage from all sources.
* Her first ability, ''Divine Presence'', heals her over time when used and toggles between an aura of Valor, which provides power to nearby allies and herself, and Benevolence, which provides bonus movement speed instead. The aura remains indefinitely until toggled.
* Her second ability, ''Heavenly Reflection'', causes her to charge her mirror for up to five seconds. During this time, she takes less damage. After the charge is over, or when it's cancelled, she fires the charge straight ahead, damaging all enemies hit. The damage dealt by ''Heavenly Reflection'' increases based on how many times she inflicted or received damage during the charge-up.
* Her third ability, ''Glorious Charge'', has Amaterasu shine light off her sword, briefly silencing enemies in front of her before dashing forward, dealing damage and stopping at the first enemy god hit.
* Her ultimate, ''Dazzling Offensive'', has her unleash a three-hit combo strike in a cone in front of her, with each strike having increased effectiveness if the prior one hit. The first hit simply deals damage, if that connects the second hit deals increased damage and slows, and if that connects the final hit deals even more damage and stuns.\

Amaterasu's alternate skins include Cerulean Sky Amaterasu, Shining Heaven Amaterasu, Ordo Solarus Amaterasu, Foxy Amaterasu, SWC 2017 Heroine Amaterasu, Sun Kissed Amaterasu, X Amaterasu, Sunny Chibi Amaterasu, and Marvelous Maid Amaterasu.
----
* ActionGirl: This version of Amaterasu is a lady Samurai who isn't afraid to enter the fray. According to her lore profile, this is a result of her CharacterDevelopment -- she has resolved to be a brave warrior for her people after coming back out of her cave.
* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Of the sun.
* AntiMagic: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]], but she briefly silences enemies in her path shortly before she dashes forward with ''Glorious Charge,'' preventing them from casting their spells.
* BitingTheHandHumour: One of her jokes has her mocking the fact that there are so many sun-related deities (Ra, Apollo, Khepri, Sol, Hou Yi, and herself) in the game with her inclusion.
-->'''Amaterasu:''' [[https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/smite_gamepedia/b/b8/Amaterasu_Joke_2.ogg How many sun deities does it take to change a lightbulb? Apparently, at least five.]]
* CoolSword: The Kusanagi, an ornate katana with light and fire capabilities. In her Shining Heaven skin, it is depicted as a more historically-accurate straight sword.
* DamageIncreasingDebuff: Her passive is a debuff that increases the damage taken by enemies she strikes with her basic attacks, as well as enemies in a radius around them.
* {{Foil}}: To the only female Warrior before her, Bellona. Aside from sharing the same class, they contrast each other: Bellona is a forgotten goddess, and is tomboyish, rather battle-hungry, self-sufficient, and prefers a rough-and-tumble AttackAttackAttack style. Meanwhile, Amaterasu is one of the most recognizable faces of the Shinto pantheon, and is feminine, benevolent, and buffs others in many ways, while still fighting on her own [[LadyOfWar with grace]].
* ElementalBarrier: After casting ''Heavenly Reflection,'' Amaterasu is surrounded by a ovular barrier of light that reduces the damage she takes for the duration of the charge.
* GodOfLight: She is a [[ThePowerOfTheSun goddess of the sun]] who also ranks as the TopGod of her pantheon.
* GoodIsNotSoft: She may be benevolent, but she's far more willing to engage in violence compared to Khepri, and has some lines that edge dangerously close to KnightTemplar territory.
-->'''Amaterasu:''' [[https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/smite_gamepedia/f/f0/Amaterasu_Taunt_2.ogg We will only eliminate those who deserve it. That happens to be you.]]
* GradualRegeneration: In her ''Benevolence'' stance, her health regeneration is greatly increased for a few seconds, up to a cap.
* GuestFighter: She has an Exclusive skin that turns her into Blake Belladonna, one of the four main heroines of ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}''.
* HiddenBuxom: Amaterasu is noticeably one of the most conservatively dressed characters in the game, her armor and clothing indicating little about her figure. Her other skins reveal she is just as voluptuous and buxom as many other goddesses in the game.
* LadyOfWar: Graceful, regal, stalwart and benevolent in battle as a female Warrior.
* LaserBlade: In her Ordo Solarus skin, her katana is an energy sword.
* TheLeader: Amaterasu's style is this in spades, with her being portrayed as a FrontlineGeneral. Her style is to stay near her allies while buffing them, sometimes getting in front to soak damage while striking her enemies on her own, essentially leading the charge. She even has this as a personality, believing that being a TopGod means that she must lead and be a good example for those that follow her.
* LightIsGood: One of the more benevolent solar deities and the second one after Khepri, dedicated to protecting her allies as well as wrecking enemies. She even has a kill-quote for him, [[ApologeticAttacker expressing regrets while thanking him for the dawn]].
* MagicKnight: Amaterasu is a Warrior, but most of her skills seem magical in nature instead of being based on physical prowess, including a buff aura, placing magical debuffs on her target, a mirror blast, a magic-enhanced dash that silences her enemies, and a triple SwordBeam.
* MagicMirror: She has the Mirror of Yata floating alongside her, and charges it with solar energy during ''Heavenly Reflection,'' after which it fires a beam of light in the direction Amaterasu is facing.
* MaleSunFemaleMoon: Inverted. Amaterasu is the sun goddess while her brother Tsukuyomi is the moon god.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: With her siblings, Amaterasu represents the 'Nice', the good, compassionate leader Goddess.
* NoblewomansLaugh: [[https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/smite_gamepedia/4/46/Amaterasu_laugh_3.ogg One of her laughs]] sounds like this.
* PowerFloats: Amaterasu, TopGod of her pantheon and goddess of the sun, always floats slightly above the ground instead of walking.
* PowerGlows: She's an AnthropomorphicPersonification of the sun with sun-themed powers, and she glows with sunlight when casting ''Heavenly Reflection,'' signifying she's mitigating damage and is about to unleash a sword beam in front of her. She glows brightly while channeling ''Dazzling Offensive'', which deals damage, slows and stuns enemies hit by two and all three strikes, respectively.
* ThePowerOfTheSun: She's a sun goddess, and uses sunlight in order to shield herself, weaken and silence enemies, and fire beams of light from her blade and mirror.
* PunctuatedPounding: Some skins utilize this for her Ultimate, emphasizing each swing:
--> ''Blake Belladonna'': I'm. not. ALONE! / I'll. End. This!
--> ''Divine Beats'': I! Challenge! YOU!
--> ''Sunny Chibi'': Let's. Go. TEAM! / In it! To! Win it!
* {{Samurai}}: She is armored like one, evoking the image of a female sword mistress.
* SiblingRivalry: She still has a rivalry with her brother Susano, but after his atonement quest, she seems [[FriendlyRivalry more affable in that rivalry]]. Not that it stops her from making a joke out of his expense. Her rivalry with Tsukuyomi, on the other hand, is more fierce.
* ShoutOut: Her Shining Heaven skin, most blatantly with her appearance and splash art resembling [[https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Amaterasu_cave_edit2.jpg this famous painting "Origin of Iwato Kagura Dance"]] by Utagawa Kunisada. More subtly, her sword was changed to resemble [[https://www.thairath.co.th/media/4DQpjUtzLUwmJZZSDaNY5FFTDqfLZIhLE0KtTNfjOd3N.jpg this artistic impression]] (on the left) of the actual Kusanagi sword. [[note]]The actual sword, along with all of the Imperial Regalia of Japan, are kept away from public access, leaving few other methods for drawing from the sword's true appearance[[/note]]
* SolarAndLunar: The solar to her brother Tsukuyomi’s lunar.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Of all the [[TopGod Top Gods]] featured in the game, she is the only female one.
* StatusBuff: Her ''Divine Presence'' aura buffs herself and allied gods within a radius around her. ''Benevolence'' increases movement speed, while ''Valor'' increases power.
* SwipeYourBladeOff: Her stance swap animation involves her performing ''chiburui'' and flicking her katana before sheathing it.
* SwordBeam: Her ultimate, ''Dazzling Offensive'', fires three horizontal arcs of light from her blade.
* TokenWholesome: Her samurai armor does not reveal any of her skin, except her face.
* TopGod: Though not for the whole Japanese Pantheon, she's this for the Shinto Pantheon.
* WhatTheHellHero: Amaterasu is probably the first one to call out Zeus's [[JerkassGods douchebaggery]] and [[{{Hypocrite}} hypocrisy]] as a fellow TopGod who, in her mind, is supposed to lead his people.
* VideogameDashing: ''Glorious Charge'' has Amaterasu propel herself forward after a brief channel time, silencing enemy gods in her path.
* {{Xenafication}}: Amaterasu is usually depicted as a magic-oriented goddess draped in robes. Here, however, she's instead taking to the battle more directly, wearing feudal Japanese armor over her robes and using the Kusanagi to hack and slash in addition to applying debuffs. [[AvertedTrope Averted]] with her Shining Heaven skin, which gives her much more formal robes. Still has the sword, though.

Long ago, whales were a common sight in the seas bordering Japan, with many roaming the waters to their heart's content. While their majesty and power was something to behold, these creatures became a victim to humanity's ever-burning hunger, with many being hunted for their meat and blubber. While many of these slain cetaceans merely sunk to the ocean floor to rot, one's anger at their fate allowed them to return to the land of the living. Now a vengeful yokai, this whale cursed all who see it to fall to disaster, be it disease, famine, fires, or otherwise. With the Season of Worlds in full swing, the hunter has become the hunted in the face of the divine, with humanity doomed to become victims to the eternal wrath of Bake Kujira.\

Bake Kujira is the last god to be released for Season 10, being set to be of the Guardian class. Their playstyle has him turn the hunter into the hunted, his cursed song steadily draining enemies around him and making it difficult to escape or fight back.
* His passive is ''Curse of the Ghost Whale'', which has multiple aspects to it.
** Bake Kujira counters incoming hard CC with by "Cursing" the attacker. Cursed Gods who don't learn their lesson and CC Bake Kujira again have their Curse's duration refreshed and their Curse becomes Amplified. After Cursing an enemy in this way, the passive goes on cooldown.
** Bake Kujira's basic attacks have several unique traits. They hit in an area around Bake Kujira, and a portion of his Protections and Attack Speed are converted to Basic Attack damage and Haste, respectively. In exchange, his Basic Attacks cannot benefit from item passives or Attack Speed increases.
* His first ability, ''Rough Waters'' has him bolster himself with cursed energy to gain increased Basic Attack range and reduced Basic Attack movement penalty. During this time, hitting enemies with basic attacks gives Bake Kujira a temporary Protection increase.
* His second ability, ''Sonic Wave'', sees Bake Kujira send out a wave of cursed energy that damages, slows, Curses, and reduces the damage output of enemies hit. If the ability hits a Cursed enemy, their Curse becomes Amplified and the ability's slow and damage reduction is doubled. Hitting enemies with basic attacks reduces ''Sonic Wave'''s cooldown, the reduction increased when hitting gods.
* His third ability, ''Twisting Dive'', has Bake Kujira dash forward while Knockback immune, sending out splashes that damage enemies around him. If an enemy is hit by the dash, they take additional damage, get stunned, and are shoved to the dash's end point.
* His ultimate is ''Yokai's Lament''. Bake Kujira sends out a whale song over several seconds, increasing his Basic Attack damage and range and sending out an aura over a wider area. Enemies within the aura outside of Bake's basic attack range build up a stacking Time Dilation debuff, reducing the speed of all their actions. Enemies within his basic attack range avoid Time Dilation, but take increased damage.
----
* BreathWeapon: One of the Bake Kujira's attacks has it spit flaming projectiles in a line ahead of itself.
* FlyingSeafoodSpecial: At the end of its trailer, the Bake Kujira is shown flying above the Japanese ships.
* {{Kaiju}}: The Bake Kujira is the vengeful ghost of a whale reborn as a colossal beast with multiple fins and rows of back-spikes.
* MonsterWhale: A whale that died from whale hunters and came back as a undead husk of what it used to be pretty much sums it up.
* NonHumanUndead: The Bake Kujira is the ''[[VengefulGhost onryō]]'' of a whale slain and left to rot on the bottom of the ocean. Its corporial flesh is rotted away midway down its body, leaving it comprised of bones silhouetted by a spectral outline of where its flesh would've been.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Killed by whalers and left to sink, the Bake Kujira was reborn as a colossal undead beast hellbent on revenge.

Kappa are some of the most famous {{Youkai}} in Japan, turtle-like men who lurked below the surface of waters and waiting until mortals test the waters. While mistaken for playful and mischievous creatures due to their appearance and juvenile sense of humor, they were actually ruthless in hunting down their prey, drowning them in water and doing [[NightmareFuel nightmarish]] [[AssShove things]] to the bottom part of their prey's body until they die.\

And amongst them are their king, Kuzenbo, he's bigger, stronger, smarter than them and also just as infantile. He led nine thousands of his brethrens to terrorize Japan and even the army were mostly no match to them thanks to them getting stronger as the bowl-shaped indentations atop their head were filled by water. However, Kappa have a weakness, they possess a sense of honor that they had to bow when someone bowed to, where they would spill the water from their head, weakening them. And Kuzenbo was no exception.\

There were only two times that he was defeated, and on his second defeat by [[UsefulNotes/SengokuPeriod General Kato Kiyomasa]], Kuzenbo was forced to make a vow to never sow strife between man and beast, and ever since, he has honored that deal. However, Kuzenbo managed to participate in a battleground between Gods, [[LoopholeAbuse because Gods were not included in that vow]], so it's a fair game to attack Gods.\

Kuzenbo is a Guardian god who heavily emphasizes displacement, moving his enemies around to better control them.

* His passive, ''Water Bowl'', grants him a stack of damage mitigation for every 2% of his maximum health in damage he takes, stacking up to ten times. Stacks last for thirty seconds and are replenished each time he gains another, but he will instantly lose half of them if he's affected by True Hard Crowd Control (Polymorph or displacements).
* His first ability, ''[=NeNe=] Kappa'', has him toss the aforementioned kappa forward. The [=NeNe=] Kappa can ricochet off walls up to twice and will pass through minions, dealing damage. Once the [=NeNe=] Kappa reaches the end of his trajectory or hits an enemy god it will emerge, attacking its closest target for a brief period.
* His second ability, ''Shell Spikes'', shields him with extended spikes that reflects a percentage of the damage he takes back at his opponents. Additionally, taking damage while this ability is active reduces the cooldown of his other basic abilities.
* His third ability, ''Sumo Slam'', has him charge forward, passing and damaging minions and grabbing and pushing the first enemy god he hits. Kuzenbo can further damage a god he is pushing by shoving them into a wall or push them through another enemy to damage them both, although the god grabbed can only be damaged a total of three times with these methods.
* His ultimate, ''Watery Grave'', makes him retreat in his shell as he spins around, generating vicious waves. He takes reduced damage and moves faster and freely in all directions while the ultimate is active, and enemies that are hit take damage and are knocked back. Enemies can also be hit multiple times by ''Watery Grave'', though the amount of damage it does is cut in half after the first hit.
----
* AttackReflector: ''Shell Spikes'' basically gives him a free Hide of Nemean Lion temporarily, with the bonus of reducing one of his skills' cooldown if someone hits him during it. It can even be activated while he's crowd-controlled to really give someone hoping to land a lethal lockdown combo on him a nasty surprise.
* BoisterousBruiser: Kuzenbo is a total loudmouth, [[LargeHam loudly listing his exploits]] on pretty much every action you take, making poses when he's idling and being as standoffish as possible. With that said, he's still a helpful, tanky Guardian with a high damage output to boot.
* FoeTossingCharge: ''Sumo Slam'' is a bit less "tossing" than it could be, as it merely allows him to drag an enemy God while passing through more enemies (damaging both enemies) as he charges, but ''Watery Grave'' really is one, constantly damaging and knocking away enemies who are within the circle he makes from his spinning.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: His passive ''Water Bowl'' references the most iconic trait of kappas, the hollow in their head that grants them strength when filled with water. Being thrown into the air, pushed, or otherwise knocked around will make water spill out of the bowl and reduce Kuzenbo's protections. That you're making him lose balance also fits along with his SumoWrestling theme.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Despite what is said below in LoopholeAbuse, Kuzenbo has no problem fighting [[HalfHumanHybrid demigods]], [[GodInHumanForm avatars]], [[DeityOfHumanOrigin humans turned gods]], magical, but not godly, beasts like tanuki, or outright humans such as Arthur and Lancelot.
* GuestFighter: Has a crossover skin turning him into Slash from the ''Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles'' franchise.
* {{Kappa}}: The King of them.
* LargeHam: As the quote above reveals, Kuzenbo is long winded and very boisterous.
* LighterAndSofter: Kuzenbo and the Kappas he led mostly deal with the tamer portrayal of Kappas, at most just 'dragging to water grave', its water bowl and interest in sumo. None of his skills or traits make mention about the more [[NightmareFuel nightmarish]] traits of a Kappa when they're being evil: [[AssShove Fisting their targets through the butt]] to grab their soul (concentrated in a ball called Shirikodama) and devour it while pulling their target's intestines from the inside, turning it upside down.
* LoopholeAbuse: Kuzenbo will not harm humans or other beasts as per his promise to Kiyomasa. But since the latter didn't include 'Gods', that's why he's in the battleground.
* SillinessSwitch: He's a big, loud sumo wrestler turtle man who tosses little turtle men at you that yell "Heeeeeeyyyy!" in a silly voice as they attack you. You're quite stony-faced if you can manage to take him seriously.
* ShoutOut: His title, 'King Kappa' (without the 'of' between), can make [[PunnyName an easy pun]] to [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Bowser]], who's sometimes called 'King Koopa' and famously has the spiked shell. It's also a recursive ShoutOut, as Bowser was based on Kappa in general.
** Shino-bo Kuzenbo skin turns him into a ninja and gave him a ShoutOut to the ''Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles'', complete with his "Woo-hoo!" becoming [[CatchPhrase "Kappa-bunga!"]] With the TMNT themselves having been added to the game, this now falls under ExpyCoexistence.
* SpinAttack: ''Watery Grave'' has him retreat into his shell and spin around for its duration, making him move faster and freely in any direction as well as constantly damaging and knocking back enemies within the circle of his spinning.
* StoutStrength: He's big and strong enough to do sumo-style push, for a kappa.
* SumoWrestling: He's even wearing the ''mawashi'' loincloth. Using his ultimate would probably get him disqualified, though.

Raijin is the terrifying, demon-faced Thunder God of Japan. Using his drums, he sends out storms and chaotic thunder while vying for the power of the skies in a friendly competition with his brother, the Wind God Fujin, despite mortals thinking that it was the cause of dramatic storms and tidal waves.\

Despite his terrifying looks, Raijin is actually a generous one to his Faithful, if one prayed to him, he would clear the detritus with lightning to make rice fields more fertile. In addition, his demonic face made parents warn their children that during storms, he was out there to devour children's bellies. An amusing tale, but untrue, as far as Raijin was concerned.\

As the battle between Gods reached the Land of the Rising Sun, Raijin has heard many Thunder-based deities fighting each other. He saw this as a chance to prove that his thunder is the most fearsome of all thunder and joined the battle.\

Raijin is a Mage god that's highly disruptive to the enemy team, and relies on timing his ability usage properly to use them to their full effect.

* His passive, ''Charged Tempo'', grants a stack for every ability he casts. At five stacks, all of his abilities, including the one he just cast, have their cooldowns reduced. Additionally, his basic attacks have a slightly larger width than normal and reduce his non-ultimate cooldowns on hit.
* His first ability, ''Percussive Storm'', has Raijin pound his drums, sending out four peals of thunder that grow in width as they travel, damaging all enemies hit but stopping at the first enemy god hit.
* His second ability, ''{{Raiju}}'', has him mark a target enemy by sending his ally, Raiju, who hides in the enemy's navel. Marked enemies are slowed and revealed to Raijin's team for the duration. The next time Raijin damages the target, Raiju claws his way out of the foe, doubling the slow and damaging them. Raiju also damages and slows up to five nearby enemies as he escapes.
* His third ability, ''Thunder Crash'', has him send a lightning bolt at a target location from the sky, mesmerizing enemies. Raijin himself then follows up, leaping into the air and landing where the bolt stuck, dealing damage to enemies hit.
* His ultimate ability, ''Taiko Drums'', has him hover above the battlefield, beating his drums to summon massive peals of thunder. Raijin can choose one of three beats for each peal fired: one that deals full damage, one that deals less damage but taunts, and one that deals less damage but fears. Raijin moves 20% slower for the duration, which ends after four peals have been fired or after a period of time.
----
* BoisterousBruiser: In spite of being classified as a Mage, he's big, beefy and very eager for battle and WorthyOpponent alike.
* CooldownManipulation: Using five of his abilities causes all of the ones on cooldown (including the one which activated the passive) to take two seconds off of its cooldown.
* DifficultButAwesome: All of Raijin's abilities are skill shots and need to be used in tandem to be used to their fullest, but when used right he can utterly ''devastate'' the opposition. He is also very hard to kill thanks to having a teleport, his ult making him crowd control immune, and being really tanky for a mage.
* ExactWords: His passive can be charged by ''using'' his abilities. That doesn't mean he has to ''hit'' any of them.
* FourIsDeath: A clear theme in his kit. ''Static Crescendo'' stores ''four'' charges, ''Percussive Storm'' fires ''four'' shots (the last two at once), and ''Taiko Drums'' can also fire up to ''four'' shots.
* GentleGiant: Downplayed. The huge, demon-faced Raijin is far from being a paragon of virtue, but he nonetheless remains a jolly, competitive, friendly deity who ''also'' rewards his worshippers nicely. Oh, and that thing about him devouring children's navels during thunderstorms? Just a silly rumor!
* {{Gonk}}: How do you manage to surpass the likes of Vulcan and Zhong Kui? Simple: a chalk-white face (contrasting his dark-red skin), wide lips that reveal all of his teeth, SupernaturalGoldEyes, a large nose, and huge bat-like ears.
* MusicalAssassin: Music might not be his main theme, but Raijin makes a great use of his drums and the shockwave/thunder that comes with it.
* PungeonMaster: Every single one of his jokes and a few of his directed taunts are puns.
* {{Raiju}}: His second ability, literally named as such, has him send Raiju into the navel of an enemy god, slowing and revealing them to Raijin and his team. The next time Raijin damages that enemy, Raiju will claw his way out, damaging the enemy and doubling the slow.
* ShapedLikeItself: His name in kanji literally means "Thunder God".
* ShockAndAwe: As a god of thunder, Raijin wields lighting as his main form of offence. His abilities are more in-line with Zeus than Thor, as Raijin also makes a great use of his thunder as befitting of his title.
* ShoutOut:
** Raijin knows exactly [[Creator/LiamNeeson who to channel]] when placing wards.
--->'''Raijin''': [[Film/{{Taken}} "I will look for you. I will find you. And I will kill you."]]
** His "Drums Out" skin turns him into a [[Franchise/DonkeyKong gorilla wearing a tie]] - albeit a bowtie - and is a reference to the "Dicks out for Harambe" meme.
* SiblingRivalry: He and his brother, Fujin the wind god, have a friendly rivalry over who's the strongest, but their fights cause destructive storms.
* SpiritedCompetitor: He wants to compete against other gods, especially the other thunder and wind ones (Zeus, Thor, Kukulkan, etc.). Also it's noted that his rivalry with his brother Fujin is a [[FriendlyRivalry friendly one.]]
* ThunderDrum: Though instead of the typical wheel of drums he is commonly depicted as, he uses four large drums instead.
* {{Youkai}}: His appearance is evocative of oni, and he keeps a lightning monster called Raiju as a pet.

Susano is the Storm God of Japan and brother of Amaterasu. Unlike his sister, he's wild and rebellious, like a storm, he's tempestuous in nature, has a very sharp tongue and liked to destroy things. Their father, Izanagi, saw this as a sign that he's not meant to rule, and decreed that Susano should live in the Underworld. This darkened his mood further and as a result, Susano vandalized and destroyed Amaterasu's belongings, sending her to hiding. Once she got out of hiding, the Gods agreed further that Susano should be kicked from the Heaven.\

With just his personal sword Totsuka-no-Tsurugi, Susano came to regret his actions as it enveloped the land in darkness despite being tempestuous was his nature, and being told to live in the underworld for that would sour his mood.\

Thankfully for him, a chance to redeem himself presented itself. During his journey, Susano encountered an elderly couple, weeping for the fate of their daughter Kushinada-hime, as she was to be the last of the offering towards the demonic eight-headed serpent [[{{Orochi}} Yamata-no-Orochi]]. To show that storm also heralds life, proving that his father was wrong and that he's a better being now, Susano hatched a plan to slay Orochi by baiting them with aromatic sake for each heads, and when they were drunk, he trapped them in gates and beheaded all its heads. When he cut down the tail, he discovered a marvelous sword, the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi.\

As a symbol of atonement, Susano handed down the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi to Amaterasu. He still wandered throughout the lands and even the battlefield between Gods, but he wasn't only fighting against his outer enemies. He also fought against himself to keep his destructive power in check and aiming them towards evil and protecting the innocents.\

Susano is an Assassin god that boasts both a good amount of mobility and plenty of offensive options.
* His passive, ''Gathering Storm'', grants him a stack every time he damages at least one enemy god with an ability. Stacks last up to five seconds, and at four stacks the next ability that hits an enemy god deals bonus damage.
* His first ability, ''Storm Kata'', has three effects, each cast following up from the previous one within three seconds. The first cast damages enemies in a cone in front of him, the second cast damages enemies in a circle around him, and the third cast has him dash forward, dealing reduced damage. Also, during the three-second window he can switch to basic attacks and back to this ability without cancelling it fully.
* His second ability, ''Wind Siphon'', causes a cone of wind to blow in front of Susano, dealing damage. Enemies that are in the center of the attack are pulled towards him.
* His third ability, ''Jet Stream'', sends out a gust of air which forms a whirlwind, persisting for three seconds. He may activate this ability again to teleport to the whirlwind while it's active. Additionally, if the initial gust hits an enemy, the whirlwind sticks to them, and activating the ability again teleports Susano to them. Teleporting to an enemy partially reduces the ability's cooldown.
* His ultimate, ''Typhoon'', conjures up a hurricane at his location that pulls enemies inward towards the center of it as it grows to up to twice its size. He may reactivate this ability while the hurricane is present to send it flying in the direction he is facing, knocking up all enemies in its path.
----
* AllAsiansWearConicalStrawHats: Subverted. Susano wears one by default, but he's the only Asian (Chinese, Japanese, and Hindu) deity to do so. The only other example so far is Guan Yu's Master Guan Fu skin.
* AnthropomorphicPersonification: He is the kami of storms.
* TheAtoner: His acts of slaying the Orochi, saving Kushinadahime, and giving Amaterasu the Kusanagi sword he found inside it were meant to atone for his violent and cruel actions.
* {{Combo}}: ''Storm Kata'' is basically a three-part combo that Susano can delay and insert normal attacks or other skills in-between. Each part will trigger post-attack item effects like Hydra's Lament, so with a good precision, Susano can trigger up to seven effects with it.
** This was nerfed in patch 4.7 after which only the first strike of ''Storm Kata'' would trigger Hydra's lament.
* CoolSword: The Totsuka-no-Tsurugi or Ten-Span Sword, a large serrated katana imbued with wind and lightning.
* DramaticWind: Well, he's a god of storms after all, so his player will see he's got one constantly blowing to his left...{{Parodied|}} by an IdleAnimation where he squats down on the ground - sometimes the wind will blow his hat off and force him to catch it before it flies off.
* TheExile: He was banished from the Celestial Plain to the Underworld, but on his way there he slew the Orochi and redeemed himself.
* {{Expy}}: He has similar aesthetic feels with [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Yasuo]], being a wandering {{Samurai}} with [[BlowYouAway wind powers]] and a three-phase first skill (though this one felt closer to [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Riven]] instead).
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: In Amaterasu's God Reveal he's shown as a silhouette with glowing white eyes. They didn't carry over to his own release.
* GuestFighter: He has two Exclusive skins that turn him into Prince Zuko of ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'', and his alter-ego, the Blue Spirit.
* {{Jerkass}}: He burned his sister's golden rice fields and smashed her looms out of jealousy, among other incidents, and was to be sent to the Underworld for his tempestuous nature.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Had a HeelRealization after being exiled, then willingly helped defeat Orochi and sent the blade he got to Amaterasu for atonement. Even after everything Susano is still arrogant, but he is also considerably nicer to all.
* MrFanservice: His default skin shows off a part of his ripped shoulder and chest. Add his rugged, mustached face with long hair to boot, and you got yourself a very handsome god.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Between his siblings as the main trio of Shinto deities, Susano is the 'In-Between'. He used to be a tempestuous jerk, and sometimes it still flares up, but he's been tempered after his redemption quest and generally didn't pick a side during the conflict between his siblings.
* {{Orochi}}: Of course, he's the original's killer, as mentioned in his lore. In his victory animation, he's attacked by many serpent heads as a reference to his slaying of Orochi, or perhaps the serpent itself is deciding to take revenge. And he kills them one by one, over and over.
* {{Samurai}}: He evokes the image of a {{ronin}} with a straw hat, to refer on how he was kicked out from the heavens after his antics with Amaterasu.
* SerratedBladeOfPain: Though his sword, unlike most of them, uses rectangular notches.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The official spelling of his name no longer reflects how it is pronounced, dropping the "-o" that was used in Amaterasu's lore. Not to mention, the extra "o" is mainly used to refer to a separate kanji in his name as opposed to an extended vowel.
* ShockAndAwe: Of course, given that he is a god of storms.
** In the ''家族 [Family]'' machinima, he fires bolts of lightning from his sword and teleports with crackles of electricity.
** In the artwork for his Scarlet Storm skin, his Totsuka-no-Tsurugi is wreathed in black lightning.
* SiblingRivalry: He and his sister Amaterasu do not get along, but thankfully after his atonement quest, it mellows down to a [[FriendlyRivalry friendlier level]].
* SmugSuper: He's ''extremely'' confident in his sheer power, get him to low HP and he encourages his enemies to keep that up, then he'll show his true power, whereas if he dies, he claims that he's just getting warmed up. Well, considering he's an Assassin and has a big potential to kill a lot, he may have a point.
* TheUnfavorite: Izanagi simply doesn't like his tempestuous nature and told him that for that, he should be sent to the Underworld.
* WeatherManipulation: While his title is about storms, he [[BlowYouAway deals more with winds]] as thunder has been Raijin's forte in the Japanese Pantheon.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Toned down. While he didn't want Izanagi's praises, part of the reason why he slays Orochi is to prove Izanagi wrong about his accusations and show that he's just as 'good' as his siblings, he's not just all about 'making destruction'.

The God of the Moon, and the opposite of his sister Amaterasu, even moreso than his brother Susano; Tsukuyomi is cold, pragmatic and perhaps cruel, but only because he believed that strength and pragmatism are needed to rule and that one must not show weakness. Previously on speaking terms with Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi was invited for a meal with her, but he was served with a meal made in such a disgusting manner to him by the Goddess Uke Mochi. Out of disgust and his principles of not showing weakness, Tsukuyomi swiftly murdered Uke Mochi, and for that, he was cast out by Amaterasu where he would rule over the night while she ruled the day, but they would never be together again.\

At first, Tsukuyomi silently bore the insult, but an opportunity came when Cthulhu the Great Dreamer spread his influence towards the Japanese Pantheon which shook even Amaterasu. But this was seen as a chance for Tsukuyomi to finally spread his influence, that his cold, harsh pragmatism is what the people required, he would be the true leader that Japan needed in times of chaos.\

Tsukuyomi is an Assassin god that makes up for his lack of mobility with an assortment of high-damaging weapons in his toolbelt.

* His passive consists of ''Shingetsu & Mangetsu'', his twin bladed tonfa. Tsukuyomi alters between them when basic attacking, and each blade briefly empowers itself when it damages an enemy. Shingetsu when empowered has a 50% cleave and grants extra mana, while Mangetsu when empowered deal bonus damage and grants extra health.
* His first ability throws the ''Dark Moon Shuriken'', dealing damage to enemies hit. It also sticks when it hits an enemy god, allowing Tsukuyomi to pick it up to reduce its cooldown. After using this ability, his next basic attack with Shingetsu becomes a ranged blast that steals movement speed when hit.
* For his second ability, Tsukuyomi combines his blades into the ''Kusarigama''. He swings it to both sides, damaging and disarming those hit, before finishing with a strike in front, dealing damage and stunning. While channeling this ability, Tsukuyomi briefly moves faster and is immune to knockbacks.
* His third ability throws the ''Silver Moon Caltrops'' in a crescent shape before him. The caltrops damage and slow enemies hit, and continue to damage and slow those that walk in its AOE. After using this ability, his next basic attack with Mangetsu becomes a ranged blast that deals increased damage.
* For his ultimate, ''Piercing Moonlight'', Tsukuyomi channels the full moon's power, gaining crowd control immunity and damage reduction. He fires four beams of moonlight, damaging enemies hit and marking up to three enemy gods per beam. Gods can be marked by multiple beams. When finished, Tsukuyomi dashes to all marked enemies in the order they were marked. If an enemy is slain by ''Piercing Moonlight'', Tsukuyomi will gain the ranged basic attacks from ''Dark Moon Shuriken'' and ''Silver Moon Caltrops''.
----
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: In most telling of Tsukuyomi's limited myth, he and Amaterasu were meant to [[BrotherSisterIncest become husband and wife]] but he messed up his wedding by killing Uke Mochi. ''Smite'' removes the incestuous angle of their relationship, with the incident with Uke Mochi happening during a regular dinner party.
* BeamSpam: During ''Piercing Moonlight,'' Tsukuyomi fires four beams of moonlight in quick succession.
* CainAndAbel: With Amaterasu, serving as the Cain, being the crueler sibling and generally the opposite of Amaterasu.
* CanonForeigner: His tonfas, Shingetsu and Mangetsu, don't appear anywhere in mythology (in fact, [[BilingualBonus their names are just the Japanese words for "new moon" and "full moon" respectively]]) and were created just so he could have weapons.
* CastingAShadow: Shingetsu, the tonfa that he channels the power of the new moon through, is cloaked in purple shadowy energy, and the shuriken he summons with ''Dark Moon Shuriken'' is similarly shadowy.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Even if you can't recall the next order of your attacks or castings of ''Dark Moon Shuriken'' and ''Silver Moon Caltrops'', whichever ranged attack you'll be using next is indicated by a large purple indicator in front of you for Shingetsu and a silver one for Mangetsu.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: One of his jokes has him describe how his Shingetsu and Mangetsu weapons are empowered to enact his justice. He doesn't understand how such a thing could be too edgy; [[LiteralMinded otherwise they would be unable to cut enemies]].
* CooldownManipulation: If Tsukuyomi picks up the Dark Moon Shuriken within four seconds of it hitting an enemy god, it reduces the cooldown of the ability by four seconds.
* FullContactMagic: Hurls beams of moonlight and shadow at his foes through his empowered tonfa.
* FuumaShuriken: He hurls far more reasonably-sized shurikens in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o3Jn1Ixai8 his cinematic trailer]], not terribly larger than a person's hands, but in-game his ''Dark Moon Shuriken''s are instead about as wide as he is - probably because [[AntiFrustrationFeatures the developers wanted it to be clearly visible to players whenever the shurikens are stuck into someone]].
* GodOfTheMoon: [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Of course.]] He’s also very cold and distant to fit the bill.
* HighlyVisibleNinja: Tsukuyomi is definitely meant to evoke one, considering he uses a bunch of StockNinjaWeaponry and has no actual pretense of stealth or camouflage what so ever in his gameplay's abilities.
* {{Jerkass}}: Unlike Susano, Tsukuyomi never had any redemption quest, so being cast out by Amaterasu never really changed his cruel, proud and cold attitude for the better.
* KnightTemplar: He's prideful and intends to bring order by force, but make no mistake, he wants to bring his form of order and harmony to the world because he believes that's what the world needs, and he makes it clear he considers Cthulhu a mortal enemy who must be stopped as soon as possible.
* LeftStuckAfterAttack: After he hurls his ''Dark Moon Shuriken'', it stays embedded in an enemy god it hits. Unlike the usual trope however, this is strictly potentially advantageous for him as he just needs to move next to them to pick it up and [[CooldownManipulation take four seconds off of the ability's cooldown]].
* {{Lunacy}}: As the god of the moon, he channels the powers of the full and new moon, respectively, into his tonfa. He can throw shadowy shurikens, turn starlight into caltrops, and fire beams of moonlight at his enemies with it.
* MaleSunFemaleMoon: Inverted. Tsukuyomi is the moon god while Amaterasu, his sister, is the sun goddess.
* MysticalWhiteHair: He's a god of the moon with lunar powers, and his hair is pure white to show for it.
* MythologyGag: In his losing screen, Denton the Cyclops barfs an apple from his mouth and offers it to Tsukuyomi, who disgustedly rejects it. This is a reference to the story about him and Uke Mochi, where she did something similar (but with much more {{Squick}}) and got killed by Tsukuyomi as a result.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Between his siblings, Tsukuyomi is definitely the 'Mean', a haughty, cruel and bemeaning god that looks down on those unworthy without any mercy.
* NinjaLog: When he dies, he takes a knee for a moment before jumping backward and poofing away in a cloud, leaving a log behind that falls onto its rounded face to the ground.
* NotSoStoic:
** Tsukuyomi's almost always composed and serious, but his "Woohoo" exclamation has him yell out in excitement, only to catch himself, clear his throat, and give a more serious response.
** When he escapes a battle on low health, Tsukuyomi will remind himself in a terse, low tone to remain composed, and not allow anyone to see his weakness.
* OrderIsNotGood: He wants to bring the world order (or at least, his version of order) and he [[{{Understatement}} isn't particularly nice about it]].
* ShoutOut: His "Bit Slayer" skin seems to take a lot of influence from the ''VideoGame/MegaManX'', ''[[VideoGame/MegaManZero Zero]]'', and ''[[VideoGame/MegaManZX ZX]]'' series visually. His voice pack for the skin, though, consists mostly of generic "gamer"-sounding quotes.
* SmokeOut: What he appears to do when he "dies," disappearing while leaving a NinjaLog behind.
* SolarAndLunar: The lunar to Amaterasu’s solar. While he is cold, cruel and themed after shadowy ninja arts, she is kind, fair and patterned after the honorable Samurai.
* SpeedBlitz: His ultimate ''Piercing Moonlight'' has him do a DashAttack toward all enemies he marks with beams fired out from him in the order they were hit, ending with the final one he hit. It is animated as him constantly dashing toward the order of marked enemies, [[SpeedEchoes with an image of him striking upward when he reaches a mark while he dashes to the next target]]. The after-image of his final strike will even momentarily still be visible while he's finished his ultimate and is now standing by his last target.
* SpinAttack: He does a backwards spin right as he uses his SwordBeam ranged attacks after casting ''Dark Moon Shuriken'' and ''Silver Moon Caltrops''.
* TheStarscream: His plan is to usurp Amaterasu's place as Japan's TopGod the moment she shows weakness with the arrival of Cthulhu.
* ThreeStrikeCombo: His ''Kusarigama'' ability has him strike with it three times, once from the left, once from the right, and a final time to a line in front of him.
* StockNinjaWeaponry: Tsukuyomi is not a {{Ninja}}, but he sure employs several of ninja weaponries like shuriken, kusarigama and caltrops. It helps that his domain, night and moon, helps ninjas in general for their stealth capabilities.
* SwordBeam: After casting ''Dark Moon Shuriken'' or ''Silver Moon Caltrops'', his next attack with Shingetsu and Mangetsu respectively will become ranged via tossing out a respectively purple or silver moonlight SwordBeam.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He wears a coat that goes down to his waist and his belt is large enough to cover his abdomen, but the coat only covers the outer ends of his torso straight down from around where his nipples are; that aside, his neck, inner-end pecs and midriff are otherwise bare.

A legendary {{Tanuki}}, said to be one of the "three famous tanuki" of Japanese folklore.\

Danzaburou is a Hunter god who aims to spread some joy in his own tricky way.

* ''Dubious Savings'' is the tanuki's passive ability, which sees him invest a percentage of any non-passive gold gains into one of his four money pouches. When a pouch is filled, Danzaburo gets some bonus gold along with an increase to his power.
* His first ability ''Fool's Gold'' launches out 3 bags of money that ricochet off of walls, piercing minions and stopping at the first enemy god they hit. If a moneybag hits a god, it drops a coin that Danzaburou or his allies can pick up to give Danzaburo a small amount of extra gold (he's not the type to share).
* His second ability is ''Alluring Spirits'', which will have Danzaburo take a quick swig of sake to heal himself before chucking it forward, damaging enemy gods and leaving a slowing field that taunts enemy gods that stay in it too long.
* ''Tanuki Trickery'', his third ability, creates a field of plants around him, giving him Haste, slow immunity, and auto-attack damage resistance. If he leaves the field before it expires, he disguises himself as a leaf and creates a circle of leaves that mimic his movement to act as decoys. The disguise breaks if the tanuki attacks or is attacked.
* His ultimate ''Uproarious Rocket'' creates a rocket that locks on to a nearby enemy god and chases them down, damaging and stunning the target hit. While preparing, Danzaburo can choose to board the rocket to control it manually.
----
* BadassAdorable: He's a small, fluffy raccoon dog, with an upbeat attitude, and as a Hunter, he deals some of the highest damage in the game when he's built.
-->'''Danzaburou:''' Do not underestimate me, I can be frightenly fast, deadly and uh, uh.. o-, other scary things!
* BambooTechnology: His main weapon is effectively a makeshift rifle made out of a bamboo tube. His ultimate has a ''bamboo rocket''. He also transforms into the rocket which blasts him off back to base for his recall animation.
* BigFun: As a tanuki, he's naturally fairly plump, and he's a happy-go-lucky prankster.
* BoozeBasedBuff: His initial swig from his ''Alluring Spirits'' heals him. {{Averted|}} by his subsequent tossing of the bottle which doesn't cause any sort of buff or debuff based on enemies being by it - instead, they are taunted toward it if close enough to it for a short duration, apparently unable to resist going for a drink.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: One of his voicelines has him speaking in Japanese, then noticing that the player doesn’t have English subtitles enabled.
-->'''Danzaburou''': Ore wa Danzaburou, kakatte koi! (I am Danzaburou, bring it on!) What? Are your subtitles not turned on?
* BilingualBonus: He peppers a lot of GratuitousJapanese in his quotes, and much like Mulan, he is voiced by a native voice actor. Most of his Japanese quotes make sense depending on the context.
* ConfusionFu: He's quite the trickster in lore. Downplayed in game; he creates several identical leaves after disguising himself as one with ''Tanuki Trickery'', he can either fire a rocket or ''become'' the rocket in ''Uproarious Rocket,'' and ''Fool's Gold'' creates three bombs disguised as money bags.
* DynamicEntry: He can choose to transform into his ''Uproarious Rocket'' to really pop in and ruin someone's day. He can also do this just to make a quick escape or dodge [[NoSell since he's completely immune to damage and crowd-control while with the rocket.]]
* {{Expy}}:
** Takes quite a couple cues from ComicBook/RocketRaccoon, as a raccoon (dog) with a (bamboo) gun and a penchant for money. He even has a (bamboo) rocket!
** His penchant for money may remind people of [[VideoGame/AnimalCrossing another money-loving anthropomorphic tanuki]].
* FatalFireworks: ''Uproarious Rocket'' explodes in a shower of fireworks after it detonates on an enemy god.
* FunnyAnimal: He's a magical raccoon dog, who walks on two legs, wears clothes, drinks sake and otherwise acts like a human.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: The ''Fool's Gold'' coins effectively trick allies into giving Danzaburou more gold - even in a team he's not a team player. This extends to an extent to the rest of his kit, in that all of his buffs are his exclusively.
* GroinAttack: Acts like he’s gotten one in his death animation, a reference to how tanukis have massive testicles in Japanese lore.
* GuestFighter: The Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} crossover gives him a skin of Rocko from ''WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife''. With this skin, every day can be a most dangerous day... for your enemies.
* HealingPotion: Taking a swig of sake as part of his ''Alluring Spirits'' ability heals him.
* MoneyMultiplier: ''Dubious Savings'' main effect, outside of the increase in power, is slightly reducing his gold gain in the moment in exchange for a larger burst of gold when a pouch is filled.[[labelnote: Math]]when all four pouches are filled, he turns 720 gold into 1295 gold, a 1.8x increase[[/labelnote]]
* ShellGame: ''Tanuki Trickery'''s basically work this way, turning him into one of eight animated groups of leaves that all appear to turn and spread out in different directions relative to Danzaburou's own movement to make it difficult to chase him even after it ends (if you happen to chase the wrong group of leaves out of the eight). Much like how a ShellGame should be dealt with by not playing the game, the only reliable way to chase him would be to keep him completely immobilized as he leaves the field and then hitting the very-close-together-and-therefore-irrelevantly-different leaves after the transformation's short grace period ends to stop the effect.
* StuffBlowingUp: His first ability, ''Fool's Gold,'' where he rolls out explosives disguised as bags of money.
* VisualInnuendo: For obvious reasons, he doesn't have massive pair of testicles like tanuki are depicted with. However, he has two gourds hanging from his rope belt that just happen to line up with his crotch. The animated teaser takes this further by depicting them as round instead of the more bottle-shaped gourds used in-game.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: His innate power as a tanuki. In game, he transforms into a leaf when leaving the field created by ''Tanuki Trickery,'' and he can transform into the rocket he conjures with ''Uproarious Rocket''. In his victory animation, he transforms into a stone tanuki statue.
* {{Yokai}}: Danzaburou is a bake-danuki, or shapeshifting raccoon dog—making him one of the zoomorphic types of Yokai. The card art for his Ascended skin shows him in a parade of various other Yokai, a clear evocation of the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyakki_Yagyō Night Parade of One Hundred Demons]] motif from Japanese folklore.

When her husband was slain, Empress Jingu, pregnant with her son Ojin, led a campaign against the slayers of her husband. To keep her unborn son safe, Jingu tied bandages around her belly and held him at her belly for 3 years until the war was over. She prayed that her son would be born strong and become a God. When he was born, eight banners descended from heaven, and eventually Ojin would become deified into the WarGod Hachiman.\

As a War God, Hachiman taught the values that his mother stood by: Temperate but fearless. Deadly but not ruthless. Respectful to enemies and allies alike. War cannot be stopped, but he can teach how war should be carried, that war is more about just winning the victory, but how that victory is won, that warriors can be honorable, treat enemies with respect and retain their humanity, instead of being brutal, merciless, violent, inhuman being.\

And even amongst the war amongst Gods, Hachiman stood by his code and ready to teach the art of war through the battlefield.\

Hachiman is a Hunter god whose abilities all aid him in barraging opponents with attacks from far away.
* His passive, ''Master of Arms'', grants him a stacking buff that increases his [=MP5=] and attack speed each time he hits with a basic attack, stacking up to five times.
* His first ability, ''Eagle Eye'', grants him a set of dragon arrows that he fires instead of his basic attacks, increasing his attack range and damage.
* His second ability, ''Heavenly Banner'', summons a banner that deals damage and boosts the attack speed of any allied god nearby. Hachiman's attack speed is also increased while the banner is on the field, though it increases even more if he is within the banner's aura.
* His third ability, ''Iaijutsu'', is a short dash that passes through enemies, followed by a circular strike with his blade. Both the dash and the circular attack deal damage, and any enemy hit by both is briefly stunned.
* His ultimate, ''Mounted Archery'', has him mount and charge forward on a horse. He can aim separately from his horse's direction, and remains mounted until he fires a shot or after a brief period. His aiming range consists of a wide and long cone, and any enemy god within this range when he fires is automatically targeted and hit.
----
* BoringButPractical: ''Masters of Arms'' is not a flashy or highly distinct passive, but the fact that you should have a very hard time running out of mana due to it while not even purchasing any items to help your mana pool last is still very handy.
* BowAndSwordInAccord: While mainly fighting with his bow, Hachiman carries a katana on his side to execute an iai slash just in case he needs a close range strike or escape. The rest of his abilities provide some sense of a close-ranged vs. long-ranged dichotomy as well - Heavenly Banner increases his attack speed once he's thrown it out, but will increase it further if he's close to it, and Mounted Archery can be used equally well to disengage and keep away from the fight or charge into it.
* CoolHelmet: Of course, his {{Samurai}}-style helmet is one! It has two prominent curved horns as an ornament on his forehead, and he wears a demonic-looking mempo.
* DeityOfHumanOrigin: Like Guan Yu, Hachiman was born mortal as Emperor Ojin and then deified.
* DynamicEntry: [[https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/smite_gamepedia/8/88/Hachiman_Ability_4b.ogg "I will end this fight!"]] is not something you want to hear while engaged in a close battle against Hachiman's team.
* FlamingArrows: His arrows fired by ''Eagle Eye'' are kinda this, but really look more like flaming dragons in flight.
* GuestFighter: He has an Exclusive skin that turns him into Master Splinter, the rat sensei of the Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles. His ult even changes accordingly; instead of riding on a horse, he hops aboard the Turtle Van!
* HorseArcher: His ult takes cues from Guan Yu's Cavalry Charge, except he uses a bow.
* IaijutsuPractitioner: His third ability! Unlike usual examples, it has him dash forward with his sword out before he slashes from right to left and returns it to its scabbard.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Technically speaking, it's just a cone like many other abilities in the game, but visually speaking, if you're in his ultimate's cone, he's gonna shoot you no matter how spread out you are within it!
* IncendiaryExponent: ''Eagle Eye'''s arrows are really just [[OurDragonsAreDifferent dragons]] '''''ON FIRE!'''''
* JackOfAllTrades: Hachiman is by far the most versatile Hunter in the game with his kit being useful at pushing lanes, destroying objectives, moving in or out of combat, poking the enemy from range, and going all-in to secure a kill against an enemy God.
* MartialPacifist: [[https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/smite_gamepedia/2/2f/Hachiman_Taunt_1.ogg "Do not assume that because I loathe bloodshed, I am unschooled in it."]]
* {{Multishot}}: His ultimate has him shoot any God that's in the cone, meaning he'll potentially be doing up to a five-arrow {{Multishot}}.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Has them on his splash art and icon but they don't appear on his in-game model and it's actually a SubvertedTrope because he's a good and benevolent MartialPacifist.
* RedIsHeroic: Red is the predominant color to his outfit, and he is a benevolent MartialPacifist that has taken to the Battleground of the Gods in the hopes of ending their war that inevitably harms the people around it.
* {{Samurai}}: As befitting of those who worshipped him, Hachiman has a heavy Samurai armor design (specifically [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ō-yoroi the Ō-yoroi armor set]] used around the time the {{Samurai}} rose to political prominence), even moreso than Amaterasu or Susano. His ultimate particularly harkens to how {{Samurai}}s' original battlefield specialty was that of [[HorseArcher horse archery]].
* SoldierVersusWarrior: While Hachiman's background only mentions "warrior", it's obvious that by how "...he teaches how war should be.", it refers to the ideal of soldiers being more disciplined and respectful than their opposite warriors.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]], as he's still wearing a good bit of armor aside from his arms and chest but is also clearly wearing no shirt under his armor.
* ShoutOut: One of his Joke quotes sounds suspiciously like "[[WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack Watch out!]]". Another has him stop short of namedropping VideoGame/SamuraiShodown.
** His low health line is "I've gotta get back!"
* WarGod: The Shinto God of War, associated with the Buddhist deity Bishamonten. Hachiman is among the more benevolent ones.

Izanami was one of the creation deities of Japan alongside her husband Izanagi. They birthed many deities, but when birthing the Fire God Hi-no-Kagutsuchi, Izanami succumbed to her wounds and died, with Izanagi staying by her side until death and afterwards, killed Kagutsuchi out of grief.\

Shortly after, Izanagi ventured to Yomi, the realm of darkness and death. He met Izanami hidden amongst the shadows and asked that she return to him. However, since she already ate a fruit that grew in Yomi, she couldn't leave. However, Izanagi insisted and swore that he wouldn't leave her in such place. Izanami agreed to negotiate with the Gods of Yomi for this, but warned Izanagi that the realm of the dead was not meant for the living to see.\

Izanagi couldn't hold his curiosity and lit a torch... and was frightened to see what has become of Izanami: a rotting, decayed corpse ridden with maggots. In fear and disgust, Izanagi broke the vow and ran away. Izanami gave chase, but eventually was too late to reach the surface when Izanagi rolled a boulder to seal her within Yomi. Heartbroken and betrayed, Izanami was consumed with anger and swore that for this broken vow, she would kill 1000 men every day, though to counter this, Izanagi swore to give life to 1500 men every day.\

Izanami fulfilled that vow from time to time by dragging men into Yomi, but as the war between Gods erupt, the boulder sealing her was crushed. Izanami escaped Yomi, and she felt that killing 1000 men wouldn't be enough, she would expand her kill-list with other Gods alike in her vengeance against the living and immortals.\

Izanami is a Hunter goddess capable of quickly bursting down targets with high damage.
* Her passive, ''Death Draws Nigh'', grants her 3% physical penetration for every 15% of her health missing, stacking up to five times. Additionally, her basic attacks are unique in that they work like a boomerang: When the projectile reaches the end of its path, it will return to her, damaging anyone on the initial throw and the return trip. Her basic attacks deal reduced damage per hit, but landing both hits will deal above average damage compared to other Hunter basic attacks.
* Her first ability, ''Sickle Storm'', is a short buff that heavily increases her basic attack speed and damage. Her basic attacks will not pierce enemies or boomerang during this time, instead dealing full basic attack damage to the first target hit.
* Her second ability, ''Spectral Projection'', sends forth a demonic ghost in a line, damaging and slowing all enemies hit. If an enemy god is killed while affected by this ability, then the slow is permanently increased, stacking up to two times.
* Her third ability, ''Fade Away'', lets her descend and travel some distance away underground. When she emerges she goes into stealth, which can be broken by taking any damage or using any attack.
* Her ultimate, ''Dark Portal'', is a simple AOE blast that, after a delay, damages and silences all enemies in the area.
----
* ActionMom: The mother of countless gods such as Raijin, and she even counts Amaterasu and Susano (and likely Tsukuyomi by extension) as her children even if she didn't give birth to them. Not that she's at all pleased; killing the latter two would probably count as RevengeByProxy against Izanagi.
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: Despite her lore describing her as "[[InformedDeformity a rotting corpse, hollow and decayed, maggot ridden and foul]]", she appears as an attractive woman -- albeit with deathly-pale skin, lank black hair, and glowing red irises. Her angry face combined with her pale skin and tendency to bend her limbs in improbable ways still manages to evoke a sense of creepiness.
* BlackEyesOfCrazy: Her reveal video shows she has black sclera, highlighting her nature as a malevolent goddess of death.
* CriticalStatusBuff: As the name of her passive, ''Death Draws Nigh'', suggests, this is what it does, boosting Izanami's physical penetration by 4% for every 15% of her health missing, stacking up to a maximum of five times.
* DarkIsEvil: She's a death goddess that fully embraces this, as opposed to Hades, Anubis, or Hel. However, unlike Ah Puch, she comes off more as a TragicVillain than as evil for the sake of it.
* DeathByChildbirth: She died after suffering severe burns while giving birth to the fire god, Kagutsuchi. Her subsequent dsescent into Yomi was what caused her to become a goddess of death.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: She's already filled with maggots and is really out to kill off everyone for her vengeance, but even ''she'' finds Ah Puch disgusting.
* EverybodyHatesHades: A lesser {{Reconstruction}}. Much like Ah Puch, Izanami is a malevolent underworld deity that the Japanese believe goes out of her way to kill people due to her oath to "kill 1000 people every day." Unlike Ah Puch, however, Izanami wasn't always this malevolent; she ended up this way following a tragic encounter with her husband.
* EvilLaugh: She lets out one as she slinks into invisibility, since she mostly uses this to escape, this can carry the effect that she's taunting her enemies that she eludes them yet again.
* EvilMatriarch: The first "mother" goddess that is outright evil (as compared to Nox or Terra), not only to her children-by-proxy Amaterasu and Susano but also against her real son Raijin (judging by quotes she sees him as nothing but a tool to fulfill her vengeance, admonishing him for "not following her instructions").
* FaceHeelTurn: In the beginning, Izanami was a graceful and good kami who created and nurtured the world with Izanagi. Even in death she still cared for Izanagi, right up until he freaked out at her current ugliness, broke their sacred vow, and then sealed her inside Yomi. Now, she's nothing but a bitter, vengeful ex-kami who's out to kill off those she created to sate her anger and revenge.
* FanDisservice: Izanami’s beauty and shapely figure, combined with her decaying body and unnatural movements, is very likely meant to invoke this. Her terrifying [[CreepyDoll Dreadful Doll]] skin takes this up to eleven.
* NonHumanUndead: She died giving birth to Kagutsuchi, the kami of fire, and was corrupted by Yomi into a wrathful undead goddess.
* PrecisionGuidedBoomerang: Her ''normal attacks'' work like this, but she can disable this temporarily with ''Sickle Storm''.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Her aura is black with a red outline, emphasizing her nature as an evil goddess of death.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: She's out of the underworld, and ''boy howdy'' is she still pissed at Izanagi's betrayal and at mankind overall.
* SealedEvilInACan: She became this when Izanagi sealed her within Yomi, and then she broke out because of the tension between Gods.
* SinisterScythe: Wields throwing kamas, smaller than Thanatos's scythe, but it also enforces Izanami's very sinister outlook.
* ShadowArchetype: Surprisingly, she could be one with the Chinese pantheon's Nu Wa. Both of them helped in creating their worlds with their brother/husband, but while Nu Wa's relations with Fu Xi remained harmonious, Izanami's relations with Izanagi broke beyond repair.
* StockQuotes: "I am death, destroyer of worlds!"
* StringyHairedGhostGirl: Izanami is essentially a ''kami''-turned-''onryō'', reflected in her lank black hair, pallid skin, and vengeful maliciousness towards the living. Her default skin is even clad in a tattered mostly-white kimono.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: She is a malevolent goddess of death, with glowing red-rimmed yellow irises visible through her bangs.
* TragicVillain: Izanami used to be an elegant goddess, until her husband Izanagi saw her turned into a disgusting monster, breaking their marriage vow and leaving her to rot in the underworld. She really didn't have any control over that and the only thing she has now is vengeance.
