[[folder:Ricky Tozawa]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ricky_tozawa_64666.jpg]]
A student studying at Bennett University, Singapore under his uncle Doug Wright. One day his uncle invites him on a trip to Marhawa Academy in exchange for extra credit, but Ricky gets a lot more than he bargained for when he gets embroiled in a zombie infestation and discovers the academy's dark secrets.
----
* ActionSurvivor: Ricky becomes this by the end of the series.
* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: Starts to show shades of this later in the manga. Unfortunately for him, he fails to save any of them and is the [[SoleSurvivor only civilian survivor.]] During the [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil6 Chinese outbreak]] in the epilogue, he saves a mother and daughter from a J'avo, finally invoking this trope.
* BadassBystander: After surviving the events of Marhawa Academy, Ricky joins the war against bioterror as a photojournalist. In the epilogue, he utilizes the skills he learned in Marhawa against a [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil6 J'avo in China]].
* BetterToDieThanBeKilled: After [[DespairEventHorizon he fails to save any of the Marhawa students, loses all hope and is surrounded by zombies,]] he decides to blow his own brains out rather than be eaten. Luckily for him, [[BigDamnHeroes Chris shows up]], so there was no need for suicide.
* BigNo: When he sees that his uncle has become a zombie. He also breaks down in tears.
* BookDumb: Either this, or BrilliantButLazy. He initially goes along with his uncle to Marhawa for extra credit so he doesn't fail his class.
* BreakTheCutie: Ultimately failing to save Marhawa Academy and losing his uncle to the outbreak does this to Ricky.
* ChivalrousPervert: Is interested in several of the girls he meets but is serious about his intent to save them from the zombie outbreak. Too bad he fails to save anyone.
* DidNotGetTheGirl: Both the girls Ricky becomes attracted to turn out to be a BitchInSheepsClothing and are dead by the end of the series.
* DrivenToSuicide: After failing to stop Bindi from infecting the entire academy and killing Gracia and Quan, Ricky finds himself surrounded by zombies, gives up hope and prepares to shoot himself rather than let himself be eaten. Chris arrives in the nick of time to shoot down the zombies.
* {{Expy}}: Like Claire Redfield, Ricky is a university student who wears a jacket bearing a a god-like figure on the back.
* FatalAttractor: Ricky becomes attracted to two girls during his time at Marhawa Academy. The first, Alisa, turns into a zombie, and Ricky finds out later that she was a BitchInSheepsClothing. The second, Bindi, turns out to be the bioterrorist responsible for the outbreak and turns into a J'avo.
* HiddenDepths: Ricky initially appears to be a lazy college student DistractedByTheSexy, but he is determined to help his uncle combat the zombie infestation and protect the vulnerable students. He's also the first one to suspect that Bindi may be behind the attacks, despite his growing attraction to her.
* IGaveMyWord: Ricky calls himself "a man of ''his'' word". And considering how badly he's affected when he fails he takes it very seriously. He finally gets to "keep his word" in the epilogue when he saves a mother and daughter from a J'avo and helps them to safety.
* ILetGwenStacyDie: Shows shades of this after Alisa turns into a zombie and is subsequently burned to death. Then it happens ''again'' with Gwen Ti Quan.
* IntrepidReporter: After the Marhawa Desire, Ricky quits college and becomes a photojournalist, dedicating himself to tracking down and uncovering the identity of the hooded woman responsible for the tragedy.
* InvulnerableKnuckles: Averted. When Ricky punches a zombie in the mouth, he has to wear a wrist brace for the rest of the series.
* ItsPersonal: After Carla Radames causes the deaths of hundreds of people, including Gracia and especially his uncle Doug, and nearly injects Ricky with the C-Virus, Ricky makes it his mission to uncover her identity so she can't cause any more suffering.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: "Zombies and shit? What is this, a ''comic book''!?"
* MissingMom: Ricky's mother died when he was young, and his uncle took him in. It's not revealed what happened to his father.
* NiceGuy: Ricky is a good guy who risks his life to protect the students from the zombie infestation. He's deeply affected when he fails.
* ShootTheDog: Ricky is forced to shoot Kapoor after Nanan infects him.
* SoleSurvivor: He's the only civilian to survive the academy's outbreak.
* StakingTheLovedOne: He tearfully kills his zombified uncle after arriving at the infirmary too late to save him from Nanan.
* SympathyForTheDevil: Even after being disgusted by Gracia's corruption, losing his uncle to Nanan's infectious gas, finding out that Bindi was a bioterrorist and learning of Alisa's true colours after her death, Ricky still laments their terrible fates. Instead he focuses all his hatred on the mystery woman who started the whole thing.
* TalkToTheFist: Ricky takes advantage of the discovery that bites are not infectious and sinks his fist into a zombie's mouth, keeping its head still long enough for him to shoot an arrow through it.
* WhatTheHellHero: Ricky gets chewed out by his uncle for telling Bindi about the zombie infestation. Neither of them are aware at the time that Bindi not only knew about the outbreak all along but was actually orchestrating it.
* WouldHitAGirl: Ricky doesn't actually hit Gracia, but he physically manhandles her in anger after several mechanics and Ray Hsu die in another attack, as the deaths could have been prevented if Gracia hadn't been more concerned with the academy's reputation. He also pulls a gun on Bindi when he realises her involvement in said attack.
* YouAreTooLate: Ricky gets hit with this a lot in the later chapters. First he is too late to stop Bindi and Nanan from infecting the entire school. Then he is too late to stop Gracia and Quan from being murdered by Bindi. Finally, he is too late to stop Nanan from infecting his uncle Doug.
* ZombieInfectee: {{Averted|Trope}}. When Ricky is bitten by an infected Alisa, it appears that he is doomed to become a zombie. When morning comes he is completely normal, to his and Doug's surprise and relief. It's later revealed that the virus used to transformed Alisa is gas-based, meaning that bites are not infectious.

[[folder:Merah Biji]]
[[quoteright:309:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/merah_biji.jpg]]
The top agent for the B.S.A.A. Far East Branch and an acquaintance of Professor Doug Wright. When she discovers that Doug and his nephew are missing while trying to send a report, she, Chris Redfield and Piers Nevans set out to search for them.
----
* TheAce: Merah is a top agent in the B.S.A.A. Far East Branch, just like Chris is for the North American Branch.
* ActionGirl: Merah is the B.S.A.A. Far East Branch's top agent for a reason. She kicks J'avo Bindi's ass [[CurbStompBattle near-effortlessly]] with [[KukrisAreKool a kukri.]]
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Averted. The injuries Nanan inflicts leave Merah covered in her own blood.
* BigEater: Downplayed, but Merah has a large portion of Champon while she, Chris and Piers are searching for Doug Wright at Bennett University, to Piers' bemusement.
* BilingualBonus: Merah means "red" in Malaysian or Indonesian. It's a subtle hint that she could be from either countries.
* BloodFromTheMouth: Nanan wounds her so badly that she bleeds from her mouth and nose.
* BrainyBrunette: Merah was originally a scientist in the B.S.A.A. before she joined the Special Operations Unit.
* CuteBruiser: Merah is conventionally attractive but more than capable of kicking B.O.W. ass.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Merah lost her parents in the Raccoon City Incident, driving her to join the B.S.A.A.
* ADayInTheLimelight: A short chapter at the end of Volume One is all about Merah's battle against a horde of B.O.W.s, including Hunters, Chimeras and Cerberus. She also has a lengthy flashback detailing her backstory, where we find out what happened to her parents and how she met Chris and Piers.
* DesignatedGirlFight: Merah confronts the mutated Bindi in the cathedral and single-handedly deals enough damage to trigger Bindi's transformation into a Chrysalid.
* {{Fanservice}}: She continues the ''Resident Evil'' series' tradition of attractive, badass women, wearing a cleavage-revealing catsuit for most of the manga.
* GeniusBruiser: Merah is a former B.S.A.A. scientist turned Special Operations agent.
%%* GirlishPigtails: Merah has two low ones.
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: Merah is a girly girl who is also a top agent of the B.S.A.A.
* TheGlassesComeOff: Her flashback shows her wearing eyeglasses when she worked as a research scientist before transferring to the Special Forces unit of the B.S.A.A., which she no longer wore by the time she TookALevelInBadass.
* HeroicSacrifice: Merah shoves Piers out the way when Nanan revives and shoots three tentacles at him. She is impaled through the torso and bleeds to death as they flee the academy.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Merah is impaled by Nanan's tentacles, mortally wounding her.
* ItsPersonal: Her backstory reveals that her parents dying in Raccoon City -- where they worked -- when it fell to a ZombieApocalypse, such events caused her to join the B.S.A.A. so she could help to fight bio-terrorism.
* LastRequest: As she lies dying in Piers' arms, Merah makes him promise to stick by Chris' side so they can continue to fight for a future without bio-weapons.
* LightningBruiser: Merah is both fast and strong, being capable of sending a Hunter flying with one hand.
* NiceGirl: Merah is a nice girl when she's not killing monsters.
* SacrificialLion: She is the final victim of the Marhawa Desire, dying by Nanan's tentacles as she and her comrades are escaping.
* SheFu: Merah makes good use of her acrobatic abilities against her enemies.
* ShipTease: Merah and Piers are quite close. He's absolutely devastated when she dies saving him.
* ShutUpHannibal: Merah wipes the arrogant smirk off the mutated Bindi's face when she used her knife skills to deal so much damage that the latter's HealingFactor can't keep up.
* SpyCatsuit: Merah's B.S.A.A. uniform is a tight fitting catsuit and a jacket.
* TheSquadette: She's the only female out of the three B.S.A.A. agents that infiltrate the academy.
* TakingTheBullet: Takes three tentacles through the torso for Piers.
* TookALevelInBadass: The {{Flashback}} of her showed her from a rookie recruit who, fresh from the research department with no apparent combat experience, had a hard time in the BSAA unit initially to TheAce in the same unit after spending a year training in it.

[[folder:Doug Wright]]
[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/character_40620_f.jpg]]
A Bio Professor at Bennet University, Singapore, Doug Wright has also used his knowledge of bio-weapons to assist the B.S.A.A. One day, his ex-girlfriend Gracia sends him a letter summoning him to Marhawa Academy to investigate a zombie attack.
----
* AmateurSleuth: Gracia forces Doug and Ricky to become this by investigating the source of the zombie infection.
* AndThenJohnWasAZombie: Doug is zombified by Nanan during her final assault on the academy.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Despite the revelation of her crimes, it becomes apparent later in the series that Doug and Gracia still have feelings for each other. They both die during the zombie outbreak before they can act on those feelings.
* BadassTeacher: Doug doesn't just investigate the growing zombie infestation.
* CoolTeacher: Doug is a bio professor at Bennett University in Singapore, and a consultant for the B.S.A.A. His knowledge of bio-weapons is the reason Gracia summons him to Marhawa Academy.
* CoolUncle: Doug took Ricky in after his mother died, and the two are very close. It makes Doug's zombification all the more heartbreaking.
* DivingSave: Dives to save Ricky from Nanan. He ends up TakingTheBullet for him.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: When Nanan finds Doug wounded and helpless in the infirmary, Doug merely closes his eyes and accepts his fate.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Nanan pierces Doug with a tentacle after he shoves Ricky out of harm's way.
* IronicEcho: Doug harrowingly stated that the incident occurring within the academy coincided with the Racoon City tragedy. He never realized just how right he was in that comparison, seeing as he didn't live thru the coming eventuality.
* KidnappedScientist: Gracia technically invokes this by having Doug's car destroyed before he and Ricky can leave the academy, essentially making them prisoners. This leaves them with no choice but to solve the mystery of the zombified students before they can escape.
* LoveMakesYouDumb: Averted. Though he still has feelings for Gracia, Doug makes no attempt to hide his disgust at her actions.
* ManlyTears: When Ricky is bitten by an infected Alisa, Doug becomes distraught at his nephew's fate, shedding tears at the wounded boy's bedside. Luckily Ricky doesn't turn, as it wasn't the T-Virus Alisa was infected with.
* PragmaticHero: The moment Doug learns there is a zombie at the academy, he insists on contacting the B.S.A.A. before things get worse. Unfortunately Gracia doesn't listen until it's too late.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Doug, Chris and Merah are acquainted with each other. Doug met Chris during a bio-terror attack at an unnamed mall before the events of Marhawa Academy.
* SacrificialLion: He becomes a zombie during the outbreak.
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: After Gracia refuses to listen to reason, Doug and Ricky try to leave the academy to get help. Gracia is one step ahead of them, however, and has their car destroyed.
* SickbedSlaying: After being seriously injured by Nanan, Doug is placed in the school infirmary. After Nanan infects the entire school, she finds Doug in his sickbed and finishes the job.
* TheSmartGuy: Doug is a university professor with extensive knowledge of bio-weapons.
* StakingTheLovedOne: Ricky tearfully puts Doug out of his misery after he is infected.
* TakingTheBullet: Shoves Ricky out the way when Nanan shoots a tentacle at him, taking it through the torso.
* TogetherInDeath: After their deaths, Doug and Gracia are buried next to each other.

[[folder:Bindi Bergara]]
[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4340281_mother_gracia.jpg]]
The Student President of Marhawa Academy. Bindi becomes suspicious of Ricky and Doug's presence at the academy and eventually joins them in their investigation after discovering the truth.
----
* AbandonmentInducedAnimosity: Not on her behalf, Bindi was more incensed at how Gracia kept covering up the bullying incidents surrounding Nanan. It eventually reached a fever pitch after resident RichBitch Alissa and her bargain bin bought lackeys tried to gang up on her and the headmistress ignored that too.
* ActionGirl: She joins the fight against the Infected wielding a crossbow, and holds her own alongside experienced guards.
* AlliterativeName: '''B'''indi '''B'''ergara.
* AlphaBitch: Averted initially. Despite being the Student Council President, Bindi is a nice girl. That changes when Nanan dies as an indirect result of the academy's corruption and Bindi becomes a much worse person as the result.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Bindi and Nanan were incredibly close when the latter was alive. When Nanan died, Bindi was completely devastated, and reuniting with her was part of Bindi's motivation for injecting the C-Virus into Nanan's corpse.
* AnArmAndALeg: Bindi loses her mutated arm during her battle with Merah, triggering her transformation into a Chrysalid.
* AxCrazy: After turning into a J'avo, she goes on a killing spree throughout the academy.
* TheBadGuyWins: Though she is killed by the B.S.A.A. in the process, Bindi succeeds in destroying the academy that ruined Nanan's life and exposing its corruption to the world.
* BigBad: The main perpetrator of the Marhawa Academy outbreak.
* BigNo: When seeing [[NotTheFallThatKillsYou Nanan's dead body after her fall.]] She cries profusely for that, too.
* BlackEyesOfInsanity: When the truth of her involvement is revealed and Ricky confronts her, Bindi's irises are drawn as completely black as her inner SanitySlippage comes to the surface.
* BreakTheCutie: Nanan's death results in Bindi losing her humanity.
* CassandraTruth: Is determined to expose the fact that Gracia is covering up all unsavoury incidents at the academy at the expense of innocent students like Nanan, but Gracia's influence is too strong. When Bindi tries to use the incident at the student festival as proof that there is a bioterror attack occurring at the academy, Gracia frames her for staging a fake attack. This is ultimately what drives Bindi to destroy the school completely.
%%zce* DarkActionGirl: Actually one of these, prior to infecting herself with the C-Virus.
* DespairEventHorizon: Bindi went through this when Nanan died and the end result was a psychopathic killer.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Bindi destroys an entire school to avenge the bad decisions caused by a few people and kills many innocent's doing so.
%%* DrunkWithPower: After turning into a J'avo, she has this in spades. Also doubles as DrunkOnTheDarkSide.
* DrivenToMadness: Having to contend with a bunch of high society jerkasses as the Student Council President, coupled with constant burials of their antics by an irresponsibly selfish principle, ending in the death of a student, her best friend and [[HoYay possible love interest]]. Really did a number on poor Bindi's already dwindling psyche.
* DrivenToVillainy: Being framed for a poser after her best friend was killed just to cover up a rats nest of secrets & lies would do that to anyone.
* EldritchAbomination: After she takes too much damage and turns into a Chrysalid, this is what she comes out as. She resembles a giant spider with a deformed, eyeless human face.
* EvilMakesYouMonstrous: Bindi becomes less human in appearance as she recovers from injuries.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: After Gracia shoots her in the eye, four more grow in its place.
* FauxAffablyEvil:
** After tossing Ricky aside: "Time's up, Ricky dear!"
** And after Merah informs Chris that she intends to take Bindi down, before disconnecting her headpiece to prevent Chris' further attempts to talk her out of it: "Not running away, are you? How admirable."
* GoodEyesEvilEyes: Bindi narrows her eyes after revealing herself as the BigBad. As a J'avo, she combines this with HellishPupils.
* GoodGirlGoneBad: Bindi goes from a nice girl to a bitch far worse than Gracia or Alisa ever were after the death of Nanan.
* HumanoidAbomination: After taking the virus into her body, she becomes a more human-like J'avo.
* ItCanThink: Even after turning into a J'avo, she still retains enough of her marbles to not only be completely independent, but also still completely sapient.
* IWarnedYou: At the end of the day, Bindi really did after everything that happened. Not that Gracia bothered to listen.
* KidWithTheLeash: After Nanan's...[[CameBackWrong miraculous recovery]]...she is the only one who can reign her in and is also the only one the reanimated Nanan will even listen to. This allows Bindi to pick specific victims like Lana and Alisa.
* LoveInterestTraitor: After Alisa's death early in the series, Bindi becomes Ricky's new interest. Then he discovers that she's behind the bioterror attack.
%%* LoveMakesYouEvil: Bindi in general.
* MaddenIntoMisanthropy: What steadily happened to Bindi before & after Nanan died.
* ManipulativeBitch: Not to the extent of the Headmistress, but Bindi turns out to be behind the zombie attacks and acts like an innocent student to throw off suspicion.
* MoralityChain: Nanan served as one for Bindi. When Nanan accidentally gets killed, Bindi becomes more than willing to kill fellow students.
* NiceGirl: Subverted, she used to be one before Nanan's death, after which she was willing to cause a zombie outbreak just to avenge her friend. At first she keeps up her facade as a nice person before revealing that she's the culprit of the outbreak, her facade vanishes after that.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: Given her status as a J'avo (which, upon death, start visibly burning up from the inside-out as a byproduct of their overactive healing, leaving only ashes) after injecting herself with C-Virus, this is what happens to her body once she's KilledOffForReal at the hands of the B.S.A.A. and Ricky. All that remains of her is a hairpin that she wore prominently prior to her own mutation.
* OnlyFriend: She was the only person who befriended Nanan, when Nanan was alive. [[AllOfTheOtherReindeer Everyone else who interacted with Nanan treated her like dirt.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: As Student Council President, Bindi does her best to keep the other students in line and protect them from the growing zombie infestation. For example she scolded two girls for judging Ricky and Doug based on appearances and several months ago shamed Alisa for vandalizing Nanan's desk. [[spoiler: Ultimately subverted when she's discovered to be the person behind the attacks]].
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: The reason why she infected herself and Nanan's corpse to cause carnage throughout the academy that ruined Nanan's life. Bindi's initial plan was to force Gracia to come clean about the corruption occurring within the academy, but when Gracia refused to see the error of her ways Bindi decided to destroy the school instead. Some may see her revenge as justified.
* SlowlySlippingIntoEvil: What became of her after the encounter with said mysterious virus dealer. At first, Bindi only wanted to push Gracia into confessing her sins. Only [[LaserGuidedKarma targeting people]] thru the reanimate Nanan whom she felt more [[AssholeVictim than a dignified disdain]] for at first. Then the [[VillainWithGoodPublicity selfish headmistress]] went and smeared her name and stripped her of the student body presidency. That was when [[FromBadToWorse Bindi decided enough was enough]].
* SmugSuper: After turning, she becomes very confident that she is NighInvulnerable. Although surviving a headshot as well as being sprayed with bullets (although with "merely" a mutated arm and a few extra eyes) thanks to her HealingFactor can only encourage the viewpoint. Merah proves her wrong though.
* SpeakIllOfTheDead: After having succeeded in murdering the cause of her despair. Bindi slighted Gracia as little else than a bully and a despot who refused to own up to her misdeeds even in death. While that doesn't make up for her [[NoKillLikeOverKill one-sidedly slaughtering hundreds to thousands]] of school kids. She's not entirely wrong about it.
* TheUnfettered: Particularly, after Gracia pulled another coverup stunt that placated her as the culprit of a fake outbreak.
* TogetherInDeath: Once both she and Nanan are killed by the B.S.A.A. agents.
--> '''Bindi''': We can be together...forever...
* UnPerson: What became of Bindi well before Gracia's public shaming, all because she felt sympathy for what many in her class felt was an undesirable among their number.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Oh, very much so. But then her best friend died and the one whom (indirectly) killed her kept placating it with more lies and well....
* VillainousBreakdown: After becoming a spider-like abomination, Bindi retains enough of her sentience to recognize Nanan when she comes across her bisected corpse. Enraged that her friend has seemingly died a second time, Bindi flies into a feral rage, attaches Nanan's torso to her back and doubles her efforts in killing the B.S.A.A. agents.
* WhamLine: ''"Welcome back!"''
* WhosLaughingNow: After the C-virus injection, she [[LaughingMad most definitely]] is. [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge Everyone else though...]]
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Her best friend Nanan was TheChewToy to even the head of their BoardingSchoolOfHorrors. Bindi's situation wasn't so bad, as she was the Student Council President, but even with her position she was powerless against Gracia. After Nanan dies in a failed escape attempt, she goes on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gracia Delenikas]]
The Headmistress of Marhawa Academy dresses like a nun but rules Marhawa Academy with an iron fist. Harboring an insane obsession with protecting the academy's reputation, she summons her ex-boyfriend Doug Wright to the academy to discover the source of a bio-hazard outbreak on campus without either the schoolgoers or the B.S.A.A. finding out.
----
* AbominationAccusationAttack: Has the gall to throw the [[YouMonster monster slight]] at a mutated Bindi after shooting her square in the face, [[{{Hypocrite}} despite everything]] being her fault in the first place.
* AccidentalMurder: When Bindi and Nanan tried to escape Marhawa Academy, Gracia, and her henchmen tracked them down and tried to recapture them. This accidentally led to Nanan falling to her death. Gracia secretly blamed herself for the incident.
* AllForNothing: Gracia dies lamenting that she had ultimately failed to protect the academy or its students.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: As Gracia's IceQueen attitude gradually cracks, it becomes apparent that she and Doug still have feelings for each other. Sadly they both die during the campus-wide bio-terrorist attack before anything can come of it.
* AssholeVictim: What the headmistress is from start to finish. Had she done her job and protected Nanan from her other students or listened to reason as things spiraled out of control, Bindi never would've [[BombThrowingAnarchist gone so insane with rage]].
* BadLiar: Truthfully, she wasn't even all that good at hiding a lot of the problems that cropped up after Nanan died. See brainless beauty below.
* BlamingTheVictim: What Gracia's telling Bindi despite indirectly causing the zombie outbreak amounts to as she died. Even after admitting her fault in this, the former still partly refused to acknowledge she pushed innocent kids to the extent that caused all of this.
* BeyondRedemption: Her every action leading up to the school being overrun with zombies only ever shows amending her poor choices made thus far were only ever a plausibility:
** Ignoring and covering up the indecency many of the kids in her school directed towards the least favored among their number? Pursue the two girls with her lapdogs bearing shock batons after they vied to leave the academy.
** Biohazard elements start popping up a little bit after Nanan died because of her enforced willful ignorance? Destroy the evidence and make it look like extreme renovations.
** As her former flame questions the murkiness of her actions instead of doing what she commands of him? Let one of her zealots floor a wizened old soul while having his mode of transportation used to get there totaled to force his cooperation behind closed doors.
** More & more people start turning up as undead, both students and staff on-site, and things begin to spiral out of her control? Spite the one student most hurt by her subterfuge as the perpetrator and rescind her council president status in a half-assed bid to avoid panic.
** The second she meets said very individual she shamed after her school turns into a shambling graveyard due to repetitive mistakes made? Pull a gun on her in a vain attempt to save herself and her school's shoddy reputation.
* TheBully: Bindi certainly thinks so. Given how she abused her station to hide away a lot of the bad things that happened beneath the surface, not to mention oppress those who don't do things her way, her acolyte turned hateful enemy isn't entirely wrong.
* BrainlessBeauty: See too dumb to live below. From the way she ran things, as the story progressed one could tell the only thing Gracia had going for her was her looks.
* CheerfulChild: As a child, Gracia helped her father at his orphanage and treated the orphaned Kapoor and Ray kindly.
* CompressedHair: She has long hair that she easily tucks under her nun's robe.
* ConsummateLiar: From start to finish, all Gracia ever does to keep the school's already flimsy equilibrium intact is cake falsehoods on top of falsehoods. Just to perpetuate a glimmering presentation of a wonderful school that trains the future elite of the world.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: Not only did Gracia's obsession with protecting the academy's reputation turn Bindi into a bio-terrorist, but the unintended death of Nanan led to her transformation into a Lepotitsa.
* DaddysGirl: What she really, really wishes to be in the eyes of her father. Even well after he's long deceased.
* DeadManWriting: After Doug is seriously wounded and Gracia has a HeelRealization, she leaves a letter on his bed while he's unconscious, in which she expresses her remorse for the calamity her actions have caused and reveals the existence of a helicopter they can use to escape the academy. Tragically Gracia is killed by Bindi soon after, and Doug is zombified by Nanan before he sees the letter. Instead, Ricky and Chris discover the letter after killing Doug.
* DiggingYourselfDeeper: Even after every bad thing that came about due to her cloistered power-mongering and shirking responsibility. She still kept right on doing the things that threw her headlong into the mess it eventually made. [[ForegoneConclusion Inevitably]], predictably, it ultimately gets her killed.
* EmotionlessGirl: She shoots her zombified henchman and covers up the zombification of innocent students with an expression of cold indifference. This falters as she realizes that the situation is escalating beyond her ability to control.
* [[EntitledBastard Entitled Bitch]]: Although she pressganged people into solving '''her''' mistakes, said persons being her former flame and his nephew whom Gracia had the telemetry to put in harm's way of a virus outbreak. She still kept right on demanding more and more from them to cover the academy's disgrace.
* EvilMatriarch: Gracia is not their actual mother, but everyone addresses her as 'Mother Gracia'. It's just, [[SinsOfOurFathers she's not a very good one]].
* FatalFlaw:
** LethalNegligence: Truthfully, handwaving the string of bullying and harassment cases, as well as the concerned pleading of one of your students is one thing. Horrible as all that is however, who told Gracia it is a good idea to suppress & ignore one of many [[BackFromTheDead time old signs of the apocalypse]]?
* FramingTheGuiltyParty: Unknowingly on her part, she only threw Bindi under a bus for the zombie outbreak cover-up. In truth, Bindi was in fact, the perpetrator behind the Walking Dead turned loose on campus. Something she realized too late in the game.
* HeelRealisation: Eventually realizes the gravity of the situation and agrees to send someone out to contact the B.S.A.A.. By then it's too late, as Bindi, the culprit behind the zombie attacks, decides that Gracia has had enough chances to come clean and chooses to massacre the populace instead.
* TheHighQueen: Gracia dresses like a nun, but acts more like a queen. Students and Staff alike treat her with reverence.
* IgnoredEpiphany: Even after everything that went wrong because of her perpetually obscuring the truth. Gracia still went right along with covering up everything that happened behind the scenes. It wasn't until after the shit hit the fan and Marhawa became a school of the dead did she realize how badly things got eventually.
* InsufferableImbecile: One cannot help but see all the horrible things that occurred due to Gracia's dishonesty, and compounded that with her LethalNegligence in the face of her own IgnoredEpiphany and say. What an idiot.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Anything she does, all that she ever espouses. It is only ever to assuage herself as the exalted headmistress of her own fascistic little self-stylized Eden.
* KarmicDeath: This happens to both Gracia and her precious academy. She did nothing to protect Nanan from Alisa and the other bullies, and after mutating Nanan turns the entire population of Marhawa Academy into zombies. She also ignored Bindi's pleas to deal with the crisis properly, framed her for staging a 'fake' zombie attack, and indirectly caused the death of her friend. Bindi ends up tracking Gracia down, turns into a J'avo upon being shot at, only to violently kill her in the end.
* ManipulativeBitch: Let's see, a self-serving high lady type who uses her false charms to push an old flame into doing her dirty work? Check. Has a cult minded following amongst the populace of JerkAss SuicidalLemmings who wait on her hand and foot, [[BlindObedience believing everything she says and does is just?]] Check. Abuses her authority to cover up many atrocities within her community, coerces people into acting on her whims to get her way while undermining or defaming those who go against her wishes? [[RuleOfThree sums up her character]] about right.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Downplayed. Despite having such a moment months earlier with the death of Nanan, Gracia still covered up the incident along with many others anyway. Even when she had the chance to redeem her mistakes, that selfish fool still went so far as to [[TheScapeGoat blame Bindi]] for a fake outbreak. By the time she realizes what a grave mistake that was, it's too late...
* MoralMyopia: As she lay dying from her fatal injuries, Gracia still had the nerve to play the victim. [[SelfServingMemory Conveniently forgetting]] The former council president did just that, only for the headmistress to use her station to worm her way out of owning up to her mistakes.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: [[CouldHaveAvoidedThis so many tragedies]] taking place could have been mitigated had Gracia acted like a responsible adult and less of a poor excuse of a human being. Her secrets and lies killed an innocent kid and ended up driving yet another one insane with pain and heartache, making her a ripe utility for [[ManBehindTheMan another vested party]] to take advantage of the turmoil begotten of Gracia's disgrace.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: In regards to Gracia's narrow-minded focus on keeping up the academy's prestige. She only ever really cared about safeguarding her domain; the well-being of its students and staff was barely at the forefront of her mind due to wanting so badly to appease her late father's memory and her fragile sense of self-importance. This caused more havoc than her oppressive status quo ever solved.
* NunTooHoly: Gracia is a nun, but also very corrupt and self-centered.
* PlayingTheVictimCard: No matter how horrific the extent she went to cover up the blemishes against the school and herself. Gracia still refused to realize she'd put her precious sanctuary and it's student body in danger to begin with.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Downplayed, after finally coming to see how badly she screwed everything up when after her antics got an innocent child killed on campus trying to mask her institute's many misdeeds. She still kept on lying her ass off to keep up the charade surrounding Marhawa Academy.
** comes full swing when after the mutated Nanan kills Kapoor and seriously injures Doug, Gracia leaves a letter on Doug's bed revealing the existence of a helicopter that he and Ricky can use to leave the academy. Soon after, she is killed by Bindi.
* RightForTheWrongReasons: She falsely accused Bindi of kickstarting an outbreak just as a means of covering up the problems Marhawa faced. Without realizing she was right all along, even when she squandered her last chance to [[SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong fix her own mess]].
* SelectiveObliviousness: Gracia refuses to acknowledge the existence of a biohazard. More accurately she doesn't want a biohazard occurring at her academy and summons her ex to nip it in the bud before anyone finds out.
* SkewedPriorities: Cares about protecting her 'sanctuary' more than the fact that her students are becoming zombies. Ricky and Doug call her out on this a ''lot''.
* SmallNameBigEgo: See it's all about me above. Everything she does is so she can protect her precious sanctuary as well as make sure [[WellDoneSonGuy father will be proud]]. The personal safety of others doesn't even fit into that equation.
* SternNun: Gracia became a nun as part of her position as headmistress of a religious academy.
* StrawHypocrite: That's what her character boils down to in a nutshell, even [[BigBad Bindi Bergara]] called her out as a dipstick on that front. Speaking like everything she did was for the sake of protecting the school and its denizens when in reality? It was only ever about safeguarding her precious little empire of willing drones serving their selfish queen. No matter how many lives are lost, or who she has to hurt, screw over or betray to get her way. All because out of all her daddy's kids, she always believed herself to be his least liked. She only goes to the lengths to cover any blemishes on her squeaky clean appearance just to [[PrideBeforeAFall stoke her inflated ego]].
* TheSociopath: Checks off a lot of the unsavory prospects. Cares only for her vested interests, and uses BlatantLies to effect a self-serving agenda. Either to underscore the dangers present in her sanctuary or smear those who oppose her to control the masses. Regularly lambasts her former love interest for not doing a decent enough job at cleaning up her messes, making regular justifications for the many repugnant things she does in the name of protecting such a WretchedHive. More often than not, she even does things that end up endangering her domain instead of helping it. All because she refuses to amend past errors made.
* TogetherInDeath: After Gracia and Doug both perish in The Marhawa Desire (the name the media gave to the bioterror attack at the academy), they're buried side by side.
* TookALevelInJerkass: More like took several levels in jerkass, Gracia was a good, kind person before and when dating Doug, according to him. After becoming headmistress of Marhawa Academy she became a cold-hearted, selfish bitch. She eventually realizes the error of her ways but dies soon after. Even then she refused to take the hint and veer off the path she put herself on.
* TooDumbToLive: Could've preempted a personal ZombieApocalypse if she'd not kept repeating the very same mistakes that brought the undead to her sanctuary in the first place. But she kept right on making up ricketed cover stories for the horror show taking place, long after realizing what a bad idea that was.
* TheUnfavorite: Gracia is obsessed with protecting the academy's reputation because her late father passed on leadership of the academy to her, despite her belief that he liked her the least out of his many children. Ricky points out that this doesn't excuse the damage she's doing by refusing to involve the B.S.A.A. in the crisis.
* UnknownRival: Gracia knew that Bindi resented her for what happened to Nanan, but didn't realize that she was behind the bioterrorist attack until it was too late.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: As a child, she treated Kapoor and Ray as if they were her siblings, and according to Doug, she was a kind person when they dated. Unfortunately, she turned into the vain, conniving person she is while running Marhawa Academy.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Subverted, Though her methods are questionable, she does genuinely want to protect the school and its students. (Granted, she seems to care more about the school's reputation than the welfare of its residents.)
* [[WhatDoesSheSeeInHim What Does he See in Her?]]: Seriously, how did such a [[NiceGuy swell chap]] ever hook up with such a [[IceQueen schmuk of a woman]]?
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: Gracia was a decent person in the past. After becoming headmistress of Marhawa Academy and being treated like a queen, the power went to her head.
* WorkingWithTheEx: Gracia summoned her ex-boyfriend Doug Wright to the academy so he could locate the source of the zombie infection and stop it without the student body or the B.S.A.A. finding out.
* WouldHurtAChild: Both played with and invoked, if Gracia has to choose between the school's (and by extension, her own) public image? She'll excuse whatever extent she has to go for the sake of presentation. [[spoiler: It's telling in and of itself that she didn't even hesitate [[ShootTheShaggyDog to gun down a seemingly unaltered Bindi]] the very second her student caught up with her as the school was overrun with BOWs]].

[[folder:Alisa Lin]]
[[quoteright:299:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alisa_lin_64675.jpg]]
The Student Vice President of Marhawa Academy. Alisa appears to be attracted to Ricky almost from the moment she meets him, but she's not what she seems.
----
* AlasPoorVillain: Even after learning of Alisa's true nature, Ricky remains saddened by her death. Justified as despite her cruel actions, Alisa didn't deserve to become a zombie and be burned alive as part of a coverup.
* AssholeVictim: If she acted like a better person towards Nanan, her friend Bindi wouldn't have unleashed a reenactment of Highschool of the Dead on the entire campus. For the record, Alisa is [[KarmicDeath one of the fatalities.]]
* BetaBitch: Is the Vice Student Council President and a Grade A bitch.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Alisa appears to be a nice girl when interacting with Ricky. [[spoiler:After her death, he learns that she was really a bitch who tormented Nanan for her poor financial status.]]
* BullyingADragon: Alisa bullied Nanan and set a gang of thugs on her. Since Nanan is a martial artist with considerable strength, this was a bad idea.
* DestroyTheEvidence: After becoming zombies, Alisa and Lana become victims of this when Gracia burns down the building they're chained up in.
* DisproportionateRetribution: When Nanan found out that Alisa was the one who vandalised her desk, she threatens to kick Alisa in the face if she does it again. Alisa responds by bringing a gang of thugs to Nanan's room and ordering them to 'mess her up good'. This backfires hard when Nanan beats the crap out of all of them, Alisa included.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Alisa spearheaded the bullying campaign against Nanan, and as a result has this happen twice to her. In a flashback, she set a gang of thugs on Nanan, only to get beaten up with the rest of them by the latter's martial arts. Then after Nanan dies and becomes a zombie-making monster, Alisa and her fellow bullies are among her first victims.
* NeverMyFault: Like most sociopathic spoild jerks, Alisa had the nerve to say [[BlatantLies Nanan attacked them unprovoked]] after she set a bunch of her bootlickers who's friendship she bought on her.
* RichBitch: Alisa's father is apparently very rich, evidenced by the prestigious school she attends. At one point Nanan suggests that she bought her popularity along with everything else, pissing Alisa off.
* RichIdiotWithNoDayJob: Partly justified, given that she's a student and everything. But really? This girl has no real sense beyond putting on a front of politeness to get others to do her dirty work for her.
* RichInDollarsPoorInSense: It is doubtful that putting on a bunch of thugs to assail someone and then payoff the medical fees is remotely criminal to Alisa.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: After Nanan beats her -- and her henchmen -- senseless for her DisproportionateRetribution (see above) and Bindi confronts her by calling what they tried to do a crime, she offers to pay Nanan and Bindi to ensure their silence on the incident. Bindi is NOT impressed.
-->'''Bindi''': You don't need to pay me for THAT!
* SexSignalsDeath: When she attacked Ricky in his room her shirt was completely undone, making it appear that she was seducing him before he realised she was a zombie. After her death, it's revealed that she thought it would be fun to tease an 'outsider' and was making her way to his room to seduce him. Bindi caught her near his room and set Nanan on her.
* UpperClassTwit: Like many amongst a school of the rich elite. She's revealed to be bratty, condescending, stupid as she is mean spirited and clueless about the world. It is part of what gets her and others killed in the end.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Nanan Yoshihara]]
[[quoteright:311:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nanan_yoshihara.jpg]]

A student who was brutally bullied because of her poor status, with Bindi as her only friend. Her tragic death three months ago has horrific consequences for Marhawa Academy.
----
* ActionGirl: Nanan is skilled in martial arts, which she uses to great effect against Alisa's thugs and Gracia's henchmen.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Nanan's father is a successful chef who has fallen on hard times and is racking up huge debts to keep her in the academy. This makes her an outcast amongst the privileged elites. [[OnlyFriend Bindi, the Student Council President, was the only one who befriended her.]]
* AntiVillain: Unlike Bindi, Nanan was a victimized NiceGirl who died before she could have a StartOfDarkness and was transformed into a monster. Despite what she did to his uncle and everyone else, Ricky acknowledges that she is as much a victim of the hooded woman as the people she infected.
* AvengingTheVillain: It's heavily implied that Nanan attacked the B.S.A.A. agents and killed Merah to avenge Bindi, who had been KilledOffForReal at that point.
* BlackCloak: Bindi gave her a black cloak identical to the hooded woman's to conceal her identity, initially hiding the fact that Nanan and the hooded woman are two different people. She casts it off when preparing to infect the entire school and remains naked for the rest of the series.
* BlackEyesOfEvil: The iris of Nanan's remaining eye is completely black, emphasizing that she was a corpse when she transformed.
%%* CameBackWrong: With the help of the C-virus.
* CombatTentacles: Unlike the Lepotica in ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil6'', Nanan's arms have been replaced with half a dozen tentacles covered in large pores. She uses these to impale and ensnare her victims.
* CuteBruiser: The bullies at the school found this out the hard way.
* TheDragon: Is this to Bindi, [[KidWithTheLeash considering that she's the only one who can get through to her.]]
* EmotionlessGirl: In life, Nanan took the bullying from Alisa and the other students in stride. After her death and mutation, her expression is perpetually blank.
* FacialHorror: Nanan's head did not entirely transform, and the bulbous pores only cover one third of her face.
* ForWantOfANail: Had she not slipped while fighting the security guards sent by Gracia to recapture her and Bindi, she wouldn't have [[NotTheFallThatKillsYou fallen to her death]] that kick-started the whole tragic plot.
%%* GirlishPigtails: Wore these in life. She still has one pigtail after her mutation.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Chris temporarily defeats her by slicing her in half at the waist. This doesn't deep her down for long, however, and she kills Merah before being put down for good.
* HeroKiller: Turned Doug Wright into a zombie and mortally wounded Merah Biji.
* HumanoidAbomination: After reanimating with the help of the C-Virus, she turns into a [[MookMaker Lepotica]]. Unlike the creatures seen in ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil6'', she's covered in tentacles and most of her face is still completely human.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Her method of killing when she's not turning people into zombies.
* KissOfDeath: When infecting individual people she transfers the blue gas with a kiss. When infecting a crowd, she expels the gas through the large pores covering her body.
* LoserSonOfLoserDad: What designation poor Nanan was given by the [[UpperClassTwit buffoonish student body]] of Marhawa Academy. Due to her father falling on hard times and no longer being rich enough for her to be considered cool in their eyes.
* LudicrousGibs: After Nanan mortally wounds Merah, an enraged Piers vaporizes her with a Gatling gun.
* MoralityChain: Nanan served as one for Bindi. When Nanan accidentally gets killed, Bindi becomes more than willing to kill fellow students.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: After Nanan threatened to kick Alisa in the face if she vandalized her desk again, Alisa brought a gang of thugs to Nanan's room to 'mess her up good'. Later that evening, Nanan comes to Bindi's room covered in blood and bruises. It's revealed soon after that Alisa and the thugs are significantly worse off, meaning that Nanan had actually ''[[OffscreenMomentOfAwesome won]]'' the fight.
* NotTheFallThatKillsYou: Her death came when she and Bindi tried to escape Marhawa Academy to expose its corruption to the world, but Gracia and her henchmen caught up to them. In the skirmish that ensued, Nanan slipped, fell from a hill and hit her head on a rock. It's her tragic death and the subsequent coverup that triggers Bindi's StartOfDarkness.
* ItsPersonal: After a kind, while being unable to really differentiate a persona of her own. Nanan selectively went after individuals whom Bindi found personal enmity towards. Sometimes? [[ItCanThink On her own]]. Poor, unfortunate Kapoor was one such individual who ran afoul of this aspect of her condition.
* TogetherInDeath: When Nanan is about to be killed by Piers, she sees Bindi as an angel telling her its alright, they've done enough, and they can be together forever.
* UnPerson: How she was often looked at by the other students, all because her family fell on hard times and racked up loads of debt paying her tuition.
* WalkingSpoiler: Talking about her reveals major plot points regarding the secrets behind the Marhawa Academy and/or the bio-terror attack(s) within it. She has this effect even in-universe, as Gracia becomes unnerved upon Bindi claiming to have seen Nanan and Kapoor reacts in shock when Ricky brings up her name.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lana]]
Subservient to the Vice President of the Marhawa Academy Student Council. An elitist like Alisa Lin who participated in the cruel antics against fellow student Nanan Yoshihara. Not to mention, one of the first to face her comeuppance before the rest.
----
* AndThenJohnWasAZombie: Her introduction into the story shows her sitting in a desk holding a book before attacking and munching on another student.
* BetaBitch: To Alisa in the least.
* BitCharacter: Barely gets any screentime save around when the mystery assailant introduces her proto virus onto academy grounds before being killed off.
* TheBully: What she is behind closed doors, being just another high society snob [[UpperClassTwit whose mind sits tied to her behind]] and has an entitlement complex a mile wide. When the heat gets turned up however, she melts like cheap margarine and immediately rats out Alisa to Nanan when pressured for information as to who it was that vandalized her desk.
* DisposableWoman: Even moreso than the rest of the cast, Lana is literally dead on arrival at the beginning before Doug and Ricky are put to task.
* DirtyCoward: Note how quickly she was willing to rat out her girl friday after Nanan demonstrates her lack of patience for their antics.
* FeelingOppressedByTheirExistence: A thought process shared by a great many amongst the students regarding Nanan. Even after it was believed she'd left, Lana still insulted her for having the nerve to attend their school despite her financial woes.
* OhCrap!: What her last fleeting moments alive on Earth amount to before she's zombified by Nanan.
* SpeakIllOfTheDead: While not knowing it, even with her gone from the schoolgrounds. Lana still couldn't help but berate the deceased Nanan for being a blight on their school's presence. Cue the part where her revivified carcass give her the KissOfDeath, turning Lana undead.
* UndignifiedDeath: Was both fitting and cathartic that the very person whom she mocked right up until the end was the one who zombified her. All the pompous blueblood could do was eke out a squeal of terror just before [[LaserGuidedKarma receiving her due penance]].
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Lana only shows a limited presentation in the past recap before becoming a C-Virus zombie. Given what is seen of her however, [[AssholeVictim no one in the audience was shedding tears mourning her loss]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tahir Kapoor]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tahir_kapoor_64688.jpg]]
The Special Advanced Security Guard of Marhawa Academy, and one of Mother Gracia's most loyal workers.
----
* AnArmAndALeg: Nanan slices his arm off before infecting him.
* BerserkButton: Early in the series, Ricky and Doug questioning Gracia's actions is a good way to piss Kapoor off, but he mellows out as they continue to work together.
* TheBigGuy: Kapoor is a large man with enough strength to swing a huge hammer with ease.
* BlindObedience: Kapoor and his contemporary; Ray Hsu, were so obstructed by their mental image of what their beloved Gracia used to be in their youth. That they failed to realize what she was becoming with time and the gift of opportunity.
* BoisterousBruiser: He's a bruiser with a loud voice and personality.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Kapoor and Hsu were both orphaned as children during an unnamed war, and were only saved from starving to death when Gracia's father found them. He brought the two children to his orphanage where a young Gracia tended to and treated them kindly, earning their undying loyalty.
* DoesntTrustThoseGuys: Being the heedless devotee to Mother Gracia he was, Kapoor wasn't all that trusting of Doug or Ricky at first. Having an inclination that they were related to the problem of Bio Organic Weapons crawling out of the woodwork.
* KarmicDeath: Being another YesMan in Gracia's service whom essentially shamed people for not blindly loving and adhering his mistress's word. It feels cathartic that the person who he was party to indirectly murdering brutally mar's him before his becoming a zombie upon their reanimation.
* OrphansOrdeal: As mentioned above, Kapoor and Hsu lost their families in a war.
* SacrificialLion: He's the first victim to be infected onscreen by Nanan. At Kapoor's request, Ricky kills him immediately after he zombifies.
* StakingTheLovedOne: Kapoor reluctantly kills Hsu after he dies and becomes a zombie.
* SuicidalLemmings: What he and Hsu really were from start to finish. A pair of heedlessly steadfast followers with no real personality or identity, whom blindly followed through on a great many of the school deans iniquitous scheme's. Both inevitably paying for Gracia's duplicity.
* SycophanticServant: His only real defining quality is his ceaseless faithfulness to Gracia Delenikas and her goals. So much so that it overrides his moral compass after Nanan died on school grounds.
* UndyingLoyalty: He and Hsu are very loyal to Gracia, despite the terrible things she's doing in her efforts to cover up the outbreak.
* YesMan: What he essentially is to Gracia like a great many others amongst the academy proper. Even going so far as to scold a recently deposed as student council president Bindi foe going against the headmistress despite her many faults.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ray Hsu]]
[[quoteright:271:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_oq8silavjr1srsgb0o1_400.jpg]]
The Senior Instructor of Marhawa Academy. He's Kapoor's coworker and friend, and one of Mother Gracia's most loyal followers.
----
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: Averted. While Ray Hsu's sword is capable of slicing off a zombie's arm, it's not sharp enough to cleave all the way through its skull, instead stopping about halfway. When Ray zombifies and slams the blade into Kapoor's forehead, it doesn't go through his skull and instead gets severely bent.
* AndThenJohnWasAZombie: After getting his throat torn out by a zombie, Hsu reanimates and attacks Doug and Kapoor, forcing the latter to kill him.
* CoolSword: He wields a sword both in life and as a zombie.
%%* DarkAndTroubledPast: See Kapoor's section above.
* DressedToKill: Hsu is dressed in a nice suit when setting out to kill the zombified engineers.
* FatalFlaw: Loyalty; both his and Kapoor's misguided belief in their mistress infallibility lead them to a mighty fall.
* ForWantOfANail: If the lights hadn't suddenly gone out at a crucial moment, Hsu likely wouldn't have been killed by a zombie.
* ProfessionalButtKisser: Guy was so dedicated to following Gracia that he would've happily walked through hot coals if she gave him the order to. It's what ultimately got [[SuicidalLemmings him killed an reanimated]] as a zombie.
* ThoseTwoBadGuys: Ray and Kapoor do not get all that much screen time in story before being written off as a pair of expendable henchmen to a self-centered AttentionWhore who put them, and the academy, in harms way to begin with.
* UndyingLoyalty: Like Kapoor, Hsu is fiercely loyal to Gracia.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gwen Ti Quan]]
[[quoteright:227:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/xyifxoob.jpg]]
A junior student at Marhawa Academy.
----
* ActionGirl: Survives the school zombie outbreak long enough to run into Ricky, but is killed shortly afterward.
* AirVentPassageway: She uses a ceiling vent to avoid the zombies as she makes her way to the staff room.
* BatterUp: Uses a baseball bat to bash zombie heads.
* BigDamnHeroes: When a zombified girl is about to sink her teeth into Yan Tai Ming, Gwen smashes her head with a baseball bat.
* DestinationDefenestration: Bindi smacks her through the window of the second floor. She lands on the ground surrounded by zombies and is eaten.
* SacrificialLamb: She attacks C-Virus Bindi with her bat, and Bindi swiftly [[PunchedAcrossTheRoom smacks her through the window]] and into a horde of zombies where she is eaten.
* {{Tomboy}}: Her jacket, [[BoyishShortHair hairstyle]], baseball bat and personality imply this.
