! Characters from [[Literature/RainbowSix the novel]]

[[folder:John Clark]]
A long-time member of the Central Intelligence Agency and a former Navy SEAL, John Clark is one of the central characters of the ''Literature/JackRyan'' series. He often works with the titular intelligence analyst and has been responsible for taking down many America's most dangerous enemies, often times personally. Later, he founds the multi-national counter-terrorism unit RAINBOW with his long-time partner, Ding Chavez. He first appeared in ''Cardinal of the Kremlin''.
----
* BeenThereShapedHistory: Clark has been an instrumental figure in major events both in the Clancyverse and those we know of [[LikeRealityUnlessOtherwiseNoted in the real world.]] For instance, he once claimed to have [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Nidal Abu Nidal]] in his crosshairs, but was never given the green light to shoot.
* BerserkButton: Clark ''hates'' [[DrugsAreBad drug dealers]] and anything to due with drugs, largely stemming from [[spoiler:the death of his girlfriend Pam.]]
* GoodIsNotNice: John Clark is generally described as a decent and honest man. He's also done some downright horrific things [[AssholeVictim to people who really deserved it.]]
* OldSoldier: By the time he retires as Rainbow's Director in 2010, he's pushing seventy.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Domingo "Ding" Chavez]]
Starting out as a member of a U.S. Army light infantry battalion, Ding was a part of the ill-fated [[Literature/ClearAndPresentDanger Operation RECIPROCITY]], and left to die in Colombia. It was there that he met John Clark, who saved his life. The two eventually became best friends, and later, "Ding" became Clark's son-in-law. He co-founded Rainbow and served as a counter-terrorism operative until he was later appointed director after John's retirement.

! Rainbow
[[folder:Andrew Burke]]
Burke is a British Rainbow operative.
* {{Workaholic}}: Though a family man, Burke's job as a Rainbow operator is his main priority.
[[/folder]]
%%
%%[[folder:Roger [=McAllen=]]]
%%[=McAllen=] is a Canadian Rainbow operative.
%%[[/folder]]
%%
[[folder:Alejandro Noronha]]
Noronha is a Brazilian Rainbow operative.
* ConsummateProfessional: Has no sense of humor and hates when others joke around. Outside of work all he cares about is classical music and opera.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Renee Raymond]]
Raymond is an American Rainbow operative.
* TheQuietOne: Doesn't talk much and only when necessary.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tracy Woo]]
Woo is an American Rainbow operative.
* TheNapoleon: Is the shortest member of Rainbow and a bit of a fiery hot head.
[[/folder]]

! Terrorists
[[folder:Nikola Gospić]]
Gospić is the main antagonist of ''Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield''.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Naturally, since he's an actual Nazi from World War II who survived and went underground, leading an organization of Neo-Nazis decades after the war.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: Is terminally ill and is planning a major terrorist attack as his farewell gift to the world.
[[/folder]]

! Characters from ''Rainbow Six Vegas'' series

! Rainbow
[[folder:Logan Keller]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Andrew Pifko (''Vegas''), Sven Eriksson (''Vegas 2'')
Logan is is an American Rainbow operative and the protagonist of ''Vegas''.
* RaginCajun: Logan's from New Orleans, and has a strong Louisiana accent. However, he's very calm, collected and a consummate professional.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bishop]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Alain Goulem (Male), Felicia Shulman (Female)
Bishop is the deputy director of Rainbow and the protagonist of ''Vegas 2''. Bishop's appearance, gender, and equipment of are all customizable.
* ByTheBookCop: Bishop stresses this during his training of new recruits,
* FrontlineGeneral: Despite being the deputy director of Rainbow, Bishop actively partakes in operations and even leads potential Rainbow candidates in on-the-job training.
* GodzillaThreshold: Rainbow is usually very particular about only sending active operatives ready and waiting into the field as they need their teams operating at a demandingly effective capacity. When ''Vegas 2'' properly starts up, Bishop is even commenting that they're supposed to be working at the academy, not on the field anymore. But between Logan's team being occupied with what seems to be a terrorist faction's uprising down in Mexico, and the possible threat of chemical weapons smuggled onto the Vegas strip, ''all'' of Rainbow is mobilizing and had to bring Bishop out of seeming field op retirement. And this is before [[FromBadToWorse shit radically hits the fan]], fully justifying Bishop being fielded.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Several face options you can use for Bishop, to the point of even being able to upload your own face on top of the character in the game's heyday, makes them look as young as if not younger than fresher-faced operatives and rookies alike. The fact that Bishop is an academy teacher and deputy director that has been doing training for Rainbow operatives for over five years, however, strongly implies that the initial male face with graying hair is meant to be an indicator of Bishop being one of the oldest members on the roster.
%%* PurelyAestheticGender
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: After the nearly-botched prologue mission that got a hostage negotiator killed, Bishop defended Gabriel from being kicked off of Rainbow for causing it. [[spoiler:This lets Gabe stay in the prime position for his [[EvilIsPetty self-vindicating revenge]] by playing Rainbow and Mexican terrorists against eachother to his advantage, and personally targeting Bishop for, as Gabriel claims, ''[[UngratefulBastard "trying to manipulate and control him"]]''.]] Given that no one could've seen that one coming, no one holds Bishop to blame for it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Knight]]
Knight is the co-op player character in ''Vegas 2''. Like Bishop, Knight's appearance can be customized by the player, though he does not play a role in the story.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gabriel Nowak]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Thomas Michael (''Vegas''), Creator/EliasToufexis (''Vegas 2'')
Gabriel Nowak is the squadmate of Logan in ''Vegas''. He and Kan are captured by Irena during the game.

[[spoiler:He is also a primary villain in both ''Vegas'' games.]]

* DirtyCop: [[spoiler:Is secretly a terrorist mastermind, funding and instigating the terrorist attack on Vegas]].
* EvilIsPetty: [[spoiler:He kills hundreds of people in Las Vegas, destroys major parts of the city and betrays his organization, his team and his country-all because he didn't get a promotion years ago.]]
* {{Foreshadowing}}: While Gabriel feels pretty torn about his fucking up the prologue mission, he starts getting a sort of irritable paranoia when he has to defuse a bomb shortly after. And the moment he's downed by an ambush as soon as he's done, [[FreakOut he starts screaming at Bishop]] about how they clearly set him up. [[spoiler:Five years later and Gabriel is the real BigBad that tried to kill off Rainbow out of some mad, paranoid insanity about how [[NeverMyFault they denied him a rightful promotion]] and that Bishop was just manipulating him.]]
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Both in-story and in-game. Gabe goes from being Logan's team member and subordinate and a member of Rainbow [[spoiler:to leading a terrorist attack on a major city and stealing a super weapon.]]
* GambitRoulette: [[spoiler:There are numerous points in Gabe's plan where he was at a supremely high risk of being killed by random bad luck, by either his former teammates or his own men. Despite this, he manages to pull off his theft without a hitch.]]
* ItsPersonal: [[spoiler:With Bishop, his teacher and field team leader. When Gabriel utterly screwed up his rookie mission in the prologue, Bishop did everything possible to keep Six and the higher-ups from completely canning Gabriel disgracefully, and somehow pulled a miracle job of it since Gabe's still working with them five years later. ''[[UngratefulBastard Gabriel]]'' sees it as Bishop being the one actually holding him back from his rightfully-deserved promotion, trying to manipulate and control him, and being the crux of all of his indignation and problems. So the moment he realizes he can try to get Bishop killed out of sheer DisproportionateRetribution, [[MotiveDecay his plans fall apart rapidly.]]]]
* {{Jerkass}}: [[spoiler:The entire plot happens because his itchy trigger-finger nearly FUBAR'd an entire operation years prior, and Rainbow was understandably pissed at him. His [[DisproportionateRetribution response]] was to steal Rainbow and national information, work with a Mexican guerilla group gone full terrorists while supplying them with gear, bombs and data, yet fully willing to [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness dispose of them in a heartbeat]], and then do everything within his power to try to kill Rainbow from the inside-out.]]
* LeeroyJenkins: When Bishop asks him and Logan questions on how they should handle the prologue operation, Gabriel's responses are typically gung-ho, no silencers, and explosives. Logan handily points out that ''this is a hostage-rescue op''. Despite this, Gabe still decides to get impatient waiting for Alpha Team to get into position, and fires anyway, [[NiceJobBreakingItHero getting the negotiator killed and alerting all the terrorists in the compound early.]]
* TheMole: [[spoiler:Midway through ''Vegas 2'', Gabe disguises himself as an NSA agent and plays Rainbow like puppets. He gets Sharon shot by a sniper by tricking the team into thinking the penthouse roof was clear, shuts down elevators to slow the team's progress down, cuts off lights to give his men an advantage, and lures Echo Team into an empty penthouse with a bomb, resulting in their deaths]].
* MotiveDecay: [[spoiler:At first it seems like he merely wants revenge on Rainbow and a nice cut of cash for the theft of an American superweapon, until [[ItsPersonal Bishop]] gets called in and starts taking down his hired guns. ''Vegas 2'' proceeds to rapidly demonstrate in the late game how Gabriel is so utterly unhinged about his sheer hatred for Bishop that he abandons chances to escape, abandons all of his good plans that had been working thus far, and kills everyone able to be directly linked to him before moving to try to kill Bishop because of a petty misconception about Bishop "controlling him" and refusing to acknowledge he was the team screw-up. [[TooDumbToLive This gets him a bullet lobotomy.]]]]
* NewMeat: Alongside Logan five years prior in the prologue mission of ''Vegas 2'', where Bishop is walking them through their first live operation. While Logan answers by the book, Gabriel is borderline HotBlooded and reckless, which nearly botches the entire operation for all of them.
* PsychopathicManchild: Has a very childish personality and tendency to blame others for things they didn't do. [[spoiler:He was like this before he became a terrorist]].
* TheReveal: If you play the first ''Vegas'' game, [[spoiler:it's revealed at the ''very end'' in the last conversation that he's TheMole that betrayed Rainbow to a seeming larger mastermind. ''Vegas 2'' proceeds to explain what made him a villain and just how much [[BigBad bigger a role]] he had the entire time, building up to Bishop's own reveal that Gabriel ''is'' the mastermind.]]
* TooDumbToLive: His whole approach to the prologue mission as listed in LeeroyJenkins above, but also [[spoiler:approaching Bishop face-to-face at the very end of the game. After all of his plans have gone up in smoke, killing hundreds of people, critically injuring a Rainbow team chopper pilot while bombing a whole squad fatally, and all of his subordinates dead by either Rainbow or [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness his hand]], he just outright confronts the person he resents the most to rant at and threaten them. When Bishop's not only still fully and visibly armed, but just took down an attack chopper (with a little outside help). Gabe doesn't live long the moment he finally threatens to shoot.]]
* UngratefulBastard: [[spoiler:Bishop risked their entire career to save his. Gabriel "thanks" his former teacher by causing the deaths of hundreds on the Las Vegas strip, killing a Rainbow squad, getting one of their pilots nearly killed by a sniper, stealing an American superweapon, and attempting to sell it and the Rainbow team's personal information to the highest bidder, and all of that ''before'' explicitly wanting to murder Bishop personally out of raw spite.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: He's one of your teammates in the first chapters of both ''Vegas'' titles before Michael and Jung take over. [[spoiler:He's the real BigBad of the ''Vegas'' games after all.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kan Akahashi]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DenisAkiyama
Kan Akahashi is another squad mate of Logan in ''Vegas''. He and Gabriel are captured by Irena during the game.
* TheBigGuy: Fills this role for Logan's team, as he uses a light machine gun and is a DemolitionsExpert.
* SacrificialLion: He dies in a gunfight with Irena's mercenaries at Dante's Casino. He is the only usable squad member in the Vegas games (besides [[spoiler:Gabe]]) to die.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Michael Walter]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/IsaacCSingletonJr (''Vegas''), Kwasi Songui (''Vegas 2'')
Logan's new squad mate after the capture of Gabriel and Kan. He returns in the sequel as Bishop's partner.
* TheBigGuy: His character model is no larger than anyone else's, but he uses a light machine gun, loves setting off big explosions (when it's to kill terrorists, of course) and has a more boisterous personality than Logan, Park or Bishop.
* DemolitionsExpert: His job title. This makes him the expert on both bomb defusal and setting up explosives.
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:He has a brief one after the gas attack at the rec center, but Bishop snaps him out of it.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jung Park]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/PaulSunHyungLee
Logan's new squad mate after the capture of Gabriel and Kan.
* BadassBookworm: Park knows enough about electronic equipment to recognize a sophisticated command & control communications suite backed up by a Faraday cage by just taking a glance at a trailer connected to a truck. He's also a former member of the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/707th_Special_Mission_Battalion 707th Special Mission Battalion]], South Korea's top counter-terrorism unit and one of the most highly regarded in the world, whose training program was infamously rumored to make ''Navy SEALS'' tap out.
* ColdSniper: In promotional material, he's shown using a [=PSG-1=]. In-game, he uses a [=G36C=] with an ACOG scope.
* TheSmartGuy: If his tech-savviness is anything to go by.
* TechnoWizard: Park is the team's electronics expert, handling hacking and communications.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Joanna Torres]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AthenaKarkanis (''Vegas''), Felicia Shulman (''Vegas 2'')
An intelligence analyst in Rainbow, Joanna coordinates with Logan, Jung, and Michael from the team's Eurocopter Panther.
* MissionControl: She serves as this in ''Vegas'', routing communications and providing relevant intel to the team. She takes over this position for Bishop at the end of ''Vegas 2''.
* TheStoic: She's extremely calm, cool, and collected as she assists Logan's team in stopping the Vegas attack.
** NotSoStoic: That said, she does [[PrecisionFStrike curse and shout]] after their helicopter barely dodges a missile.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sharron Judd]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HollyGauthierFrankel
Another Rainbow intelligence analyst, assisting Bishop and his team in ''Vegas 2''.

* BadassIsraeli: She's Israeli, and is stated to have done work with Mossad in the past.
* MissionControl: Like Joanna, she's Bishop's mission control.
* SnipingTheCockpit: [[spoiler:She gets shot by a sniper while Bishop's helicopter attempts to land on the penthouse roof. She's later reported as being in "stable" condition by Ding, but is not seen again for the rest of the game. The first game's Joanna Torres takes her spot at the end of the game.]]
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: She's almost identical in both character and role to Joanna from the first ''Vegas''.
[[/folder]]

! Terrorists
[[folder:Irena Morales]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Amanda Martinez
The primary villain of ''Vegas'', Irena is a terrorist ringleader planning on attacking Las Vegas.
* BossInMookClothing: Irena appears as an enemy towards the end of the Dam mission, where she goes down with just a few bullets.
* TheDragon: To [[spoiler:Gabe]].
* {{Expy}}: She's pretty much a female UsefulNotes/CheGuevara, even described as a wannabe of said individual by Mike.
* TheRevolutionWillNotBeCivilized: She's an old-school Latin American revolutionary with a penchant for brutal violence.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Miguel and Alvarez Cabrero]]
->'''Miguel voiced by:''' Philip Le Maistre\
'''Alvarez voiced by:''' Mark Camacho
The Cabrero brothers appear as secondary villains in ''Vegas 2''. They are human traffickers who had recently smuggled bombs into Las Vegas.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: The men that the two brothers hired to reinforce their numbers are distinct from Morales' terrorist army, and this causes friction. Miguel's and Alvarez's men snark at how Morales' troops are as good as dead and won't miss them. Then, another instance of this trope: Miguel puts on a HAZMAT suit to escape the cordon around the gym where he set off the chemical bomb, but RAINBOW's team instantly recognizes him anyway thanks to the limp he got while fighting the team helicopter.
* DirtyCoward: Actually played with. Miguel runs from Bishop, but [[OneManArmy who wouldn't?]] Both of them die in cutscenes, so we never see much of their personalities.
* TerroristsWithoutACause: Actually averted. Both men have clear motives.
* TooDumbToLive: They both die in ways that could have been easily avoided. Miguel [[spoiler:pulls a HandCannon on Bishop after pretending to surrender, and Bishop kills him instantly.]] Alvarez lowers his guard while receiving payment from his employer, who has no reason to leave him alive.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Marcelo]]
A very popular person amongst the terrorists. He is one of the Mexican guerillas encountered (and killed) by Logan and his team in Mexico.
* UniqueEnemy: Despite being a regular mook, Marcelo has a unique appearance from the other guerillas; he wears a blue shirt, while all the others wear green or red.
* WhatMeasureIsAMook: Marcelo is a well-known terrorist. When Alpha Team confronts Irena, she tells them that killing him was [[NotQuiteTheRightThing a bad idea]]:
-->'''Irena:''' You killed Marcelo - not smart. People liked Marcelo.
** Indeed, his death seems to have impacted the terrorists by a great deal, so much that they'll shout his name in combat. It's possible his death increased the terrorists' attacks on Vegas.
