->A 4-member unit composed of close friends who attended the same boarding school: Fura Kanato, Watarai Hibari, Shikinagi Akira, and Seraph Dazzlegarden.\
Making use of particular skills honed in the criminal underworld, they work towards a common goal of bringing happiness to peoples' daily lives by conducting operations from the shadows.

After Ranunculus' debut four months earlier, VOLTACTION were the second wave of Nijisanji main branch livers to be revealed in 2022, debuting in July. Like Ranunculus, they were all students from the first generation class of Virtual Talent Academy, a vocational school run by ANYCOLOR to train newbie streamers and entertainers - only this time, the selected members were all male talents.\

[[folder:In general]]

* AerithAndBob: Fura Kanato, Watarai Hibari, Shikinagi Akira, and ''[[OddNameOut Seraph Dazzlegarden]]''. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], as Seraph [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname isn't his real name]] even InUniverse - [[spoiler:in fact, it may have been derived from another codename he went by spelled [[ScrawkdcabAlias backwards]]]].
** Note that during the VTA era their names were ''all'' considered ''kira kira'' names - "unique" and difficult to read compared to more typical Japanese names, with [[Characters/Nijisanji2021 Lauren]] infamously [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-4sBdQw3zw mispronouncing all of them]]. Ironically enough, Seraph's previous name Satoshi was thought to be the least unusual among them.
* AllThereInTheManual: A major source of their InUniverse characterization and backstories is their voice dramas, especially with the announcement of the [[WholeEpisodeFlashback Memories of Nostalgia]] series of dramas.
* AlwaysInClassOne: The four of them all met as classmates who went to the same BoardingSchool, where they were initially placed in the same class.
* AngerBornOfWorry: None of them take it particularly well when it becomes clear that [[spoiler:[[DeathSeeker Seraph]] intentionally tried to [[SuicideByCop get himself killed]]]] in their second voice drama, especially [[TranquilFury Kanato]].
* AprilFoolsDay:
** They all did separate stunts in 2023. Kanato and Akira became AttractiveBentGender versions of themselves: Kanato as Kana used a voice changer and held a Twitter Q & A, while Akira as [=SeiLa=] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSaSafvRJQs streamed in-persona]] as the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mama-san mama-san]] of the bar [=Arc-en-SeiLa=]. Hibari simply uploaded a cover of the aptly titled "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtOdGzypjIk Lie]]" by SID. Seraph carried on the annual Nijisanji tradition of being the one liver who did something terrifying rather than silly, by orchestrating a harrowing overnight lore arc that ended with a cover of "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL2fJ01NOik Bad Dream]]" by Kitani Tatsuya.
** In 2024, TheBusCameBack for all the alternate selves introduced the previous year, with [=SeiLa=] and Kana returning and Seraph [[spoiler:outright referring to Ares as his past self from several years back]]. Hibari on the other hand held a surprise band session live.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Despite Akira and Seraph's [[VitriolicBestBuds usual dynamic]], Seraph catches the former off guard with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQWQ2xkVHUg&t=14178s the answer]] to his assigned ''totsumachi'' prompt, leaving the usually quite talkative Akira audibly flustered:
--> (''Prompt: "Is there anything you want to do with Shikinagi?" Seraph initially says no, which leads to some bickering, until...'')
--> '''Seraph:''' I'd go anywhere with you, is what I mean. It's not like there's anything in particular I want to do with you, but if it's you I know I'll have fun so if you ever want me to go somewhere with you I'd be happy to. A "specifically because it's Nagi-chan" sort of thing... [...] And if I ever want to go somewhere and you ask if you can come with me, I'll always say yes.
* BadassCrew: All of them can kick plenty of ass InUniverse, both individually and [[BashBrothers together]]. Given the [[ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight questionable legality]] of what they do, this often overlaps with CaperCrew.
* BadassLongcoat: All of them wear one.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: On paper, the four of them are a veritable RoguesGallery - a [[TheMafia mafioso]], a [[PhantomThief thief]], a former [[SpiesAreDespicable spy]], and a former [[ProfessionalKiller assassin]]. However, they're all strictly heroic if a bit [[PragmaticHero morally grey]], using their villainous skillsets for good rather than their original purposes.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Kanato and Hibari, who are quite [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkH1ify_C9g in sync]] with each other.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: An interesting case of a four-person dynamic. [[TheSmartGuy Akira and Seraph]] often serve as the collective ''tsukkomi'' to [[ThoseTwoGuys Kanato and Hibari]]'s collective ''boke''. However, Seraph will sometimes [[NotSoAboveItAll join]] Kanato and Hibari in their silliness, leading to a 1v3 dynamic.
* BreakingOldTrends: They are the first Nijisanji wave to have debuted with their own unit-specific social media and [=YouTube=] channel.[[labelnote:Note]][[Characters/Nijisanji2020 VΔLZ]] and [[Characters/NijisanjiENLuxiem Luxiem]] also have their own [=YouTube=] channels, however both were made after their debuts. [[Characters/Nijisanji2024 3SKM]] later debuted in March 2024, also with dedicated accounts.[[/labelnote]]
* CastFullOfPrettyBoys: Par for the course for an all-male [=VTuber=] group. Though if [[Characters/Nijisanji2021 Oliver-sensei]] is to be believed, VOLTACTION are [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_OGfNAP2DU&t=160s also this in real life]].
* CastHerd: While they are all [[TrueCompanions close friends]] and often collab as a full group or in any given combination of members, for official purposes VOLTACTION are usually split into pairs based on shared lore:
** Zeffiro / the Café-gumi (カフェ組): Kanato and Hibari, named after the café that Kanato owns and Hibari works at.
** Room 4S / Rumufo (るむふぉ): Akira and Seraph, named after the freelance agency that Akira founded and Seraph often takes on work for.
* ChildhoodFriends: The video for VOLTACTION's "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aENEC5fqak Kaiju no Hanauta]]" cover reveals that Kanato and Hibari are this in-lore, or at the very least met when they were very young. While in Hibari's Memories of Nostalgia voice drama he states that he and Kanato first befriended each other while at BoardingSchool, it is heavily implied that Kanato's childhood best friend and Hibari are one and the same, making this a case of ForgottenFirstMeeting.
* {{Chuunibyou}}: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] - their edgy lore is for the most part played straight, with the members maintaining their {{Kayfabe}} in a more or less believable way. However, they were challenged to go "full-on ''chuuni''" as a batsu during their debut stream, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oj7V2HvAocY to hilarious effect]].
* ColorCodedCharacters:
** Kanato: White (main), yellow (secondary).
** Hibari: Black (main), magenta (secondary).
** Akira: Blue (main), purple (secondary).
** Seraph: Red (main), blue (secondary).
* ContinuityNod: The fact that they went to the same boarding school InUniverse is likely a thinly veiled reference to their VTA days.
* CookingDuel: Their 2v2 cooking [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMVZHO93Nk8 off-collab]] of course, pitting the Zeffiro duo against the Room 4S duo.
* CovertGroup: They conduct their operations in secret, as most of what they do is not strictly legal.
* CovertGroupWithMundaneFront: Both CAFE Zeffiro and Room 4S serve as a [[MultilayerFacade two-layered]] version of this. For the sake of clients' privacy the only way to get in contact with [[SecretShop Room 4S]] and make a request is to [[SpySpeak order a small espresso with four sugars]] at CAFE Zeffiro. If the request is of sufficiently large scope or if it's specifically addressed to [[OnlyTheKnowledgableMayPass the Laundry]] it gets forwarded onto VOLTACTION as a whole, otherwise it's handled by Room 4S alone.
* CynicIdealistDuo: While Akira's moodiness and snark contrasted with Seraph's sweet and easygoing nature might initially give the opposite impression, Akira is actually the idealist to Seraph's cynic InUniverse. Both of them acknowledge the terrible things they did in the past, but while Seraph is [[TheseHandsHaveKilled still struggling to reconcile his previous transgressions]] with his new life, Akira is much more hopeful and future-oriented.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Their lore is this by [=VTuber=] standards, with the members having all been depicted doing [[PragmaticHero morally questionable things]]. Given the extralegal nature of their operations, the members are put in life-threatening peril fairly regularly, with plenty of combat scenes and violence in their associated lore.
* DeepCoverAgent: According to their lore, the entire reason why Akira and Seraph enrolled in BoardingSchool together to begin with was for a long-term undercover mission of some sort.
* DefectorFromDecadence: While all of them developed their skills in the underworld as a result of their [[VillainousLineage backgrounds]], VOLTACTION was formed out of a shared desire to [[WhiteSheep defy their respective family legacies]] and instead use those skills for good.
** Kanato is a [[MafiaPrincess Mafia Prince]] who is expected to become the next boss, but has his doubts about the darker aspects of the family business.
** Hibari comes from a family of [[PhantomThief phantom thieves]] but aspires to be a [[GentlemanThief good thief]] that only steals "hearts" and avoids stealing for personal gain.
** Akira broke away from the [[SinisterSpyAgency espionage organization]] his family belonged to after he became disillusioned with the job.
** Seraph had been [[ForcedIntoEvil forced into killing]] since he was young as the latest scion of a [[TheFamilyThatSlaysTogether family of assassins]], but eventually quit the profession altogether.
* ADogNamedDog: Both Hibari and Seraph's avian {{Mascot}}s are simply named after their respective species of bird in Japanese. Hibari's is a skylark or ''hibari'' named Hibari-san, while Seraph's is a horned owl or ''mimizuku'' named Mimizuku-san.
* DesignatedParents: Kanato and Akira sometimes end up as this, by virtue of being the TeamMom and TeamDad, respectively.
* ElaborateUniversityHigh: The BoardingSchool they all went to, Erfolg College, appears to be this, as it is attended primarily by children of prestigious families.
* EnergeticAndSoftSpokenDuo: Hibari is the Energetic to Seraph's Soft-Spoken.
* EpicFail:
** Because their [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uero8t9-sWI 2D wanko soba off-collab]] was pre-recorded, the members themselves were in the stream chat, reacting to the collab alongside viewers. And that's how the members of VOLTACTION discovered that none of them had moderator powers in their own [=YouTube=] channel... even though it had already been two entire months since they debuted.
** For their taste-test king [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-_azZNAb8Q off-collab]], they were each individually tasked to first taste either a coffee (for the Zeffiro duo) or a curry (for the Room 4S duo) and then identify the coffee/curry they drank/ate from a selection of 8-10 different coffees/curries. [[spoiler:Every single one of them failed to correctly identify what they drank/ate, and so all of them got batsu'd with the reward ending up going to the staff]].
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: If VTA counts. This trope also applies to them InUniverse.
* FashionableAsymmetry: All of them exhibit this in their default outfits, to varying degrees.
* FirstNameBasis: They all refer to each other by their given names with no honorifics, as they are all good friends who are close in age. They also call each other by various [[AffectionateNickname nicknames]].
* {{Foil}}: Likely unintentional on ANYCOLOR's part, but VOLTACTION's villains-[[HeelFaceTurn turned]]-{{Anti Hero}}es concept provides a nice contrast to [[Characters/Nijisanji2023 Oriens, Dytica]], and [[Characters/NijisanjiENKrisis Krisis]]' {{Superhero}} concept. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Seraph, who's commented that he probably needs to hide from his kohais.
* ForHappiness: Their InUniverse goal, and the reason the four of them decided to join Nijisanji and start streaming alongside their activities as VOLTACTION. They heard about how the company's livers bring entertainment to people, and figured it'd be worth a try.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble:
** Hibari (Sanguine) - charming, disarmingly cheerful, and very energetic, but also very [[TrashOfTheTitans disorganized]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y58BDokJnA usually late for things]].
** Kanato (Choleric) - a born leader, ambitious, and passionate, but can also get quite [[SirSwearsALot toxic]] and dramatic when fired up.
** Akira (Melancholic) - analytical, detail-oriented, and hard-working, but can also get moody and pessimistic at times.
** Seraph (Phlegmatic) - calm, easygoing, and dependable, but also [[BlueAndOrangeMorality morally incomprehensible]], [[ExtremeDoormat yielding]], and one hell of a [[TheGadfly tease]].
* TheFriendsWhoNeverHang: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. Despite their [[BigBrotherWorship obvious]] [[BigBrotherInstinct closeness]], for the longest time, Hibari and Seraph were the only pair of VOLTACTION members who had never done a one-on-one collab. They finally [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIY6HRc6krk played]] ''VideoGame/KeepTalkingAndNobodyExplodes'' nearly a year after their debut, after realizing that they had never done anything on-stream with just the two of them while out for a meal together. Apparently, it only took so long because [[TwiceShy neither of them are the type of people who solicit collabs]].
* HeelFaceTurn: InUniverse, prior to their debut. While it's currently unclear if/how villainous Kanato and Hibari are or were, Akira and Seraph certainly did some bad things in the past. In fact, in their debut lore, they make a point of saying that they don't want to deceive or kill people anymore, respectively.
* HeistEpisode: The second half of their first voice drama is essentially this, as they have to break into a business' main office to steal evidence that it has been colluding with a politician they've been requested to expose as corrupt.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Kanato and Hibari, as well as Akira (well, bisexual in his case) and Seraph. In both cases literally, as both pairs have referred to each other as their partners.
* HomeBase: The Laundry, where they plan their missions. It also serves as a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8kwGcznz2E quiet workspace]].
* HotSpringsEpisode: Room 4S' first voice drama is this, in which Akira and Seraph go to an onsen to relax after a power outage at the agency makes them unable to work... though the relaxation part doesn't last long. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Room 4S themselves, who referred to the events of the drama as the [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall 7th episode of the VOLTACTION anime]] during the announcement stream for it.
* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: While they ''were'' actually around their stated ages at the time of their debut[[labelnote:Note]]Kanato has explicitly given his birth date as being March 25, 2002. What Seraph has said about the circumstances behind him starting to play the violin places his real-life age as having been 19 or 20 at debut, with some viewers speculating that it is more likely that he was actually the former.[[/labelnote]], they will [[TheAgeless not officially get any older]]. According to Seraph, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQBm-GSGM-M&t=528s he'll be 20 forever]] thanks to ANYCOLOR using some mysterious [[{{Magitek}} magical technology]] on him to stop him from aging.
* InTheStyleOf: In a {{meta}} sense - the way the group is produced strongly invokes an anime series, from their tightly interconnected backstories, setting, and lore to the {{Eye Catch}}es in their group collabs. The short version of their debut song "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08ThYpCs7jk Inlaid]]" is even in the style of an anime opening.
* JackOfAllTrades: What Room 4S essentially does. The contracts they'll accept run the gamut from finding lost pets to [[PrivateDetective private detective work]] to [[AssassinOutclassin neutralizing assassins]].
* {{Kayfabe}}: All four of them are notably quite good at being adherent to this, to the point where for all intents and purposes, they ''are'' their characters. The lines are often quite blurred between the fictional characters they portray and their real-life selves, with aspects of the latter even occasionally becoming incorporated into the former as their lore develops.
* LocalHangout: CAFE Zeffiro.
* {{Mascot}}: Both members with AnimalMotifs each have one.
** Hibari-san[[labelnote:Note]]Spelled in katakana (ヒバリさん) to differentiate from human Hibari, whose name is written in kanji (雲雀).[[/labelnote]], a skylark who has been Hibari's mascot since the VTA era. It has been redesigned twice thus far, first becoming [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FXysj4paIAEVXkQ.jpg much chubbier]] upon his debut, then gaining some purple and magenta feathers to give it more of an UncattyResemblance to Hibari upon his 3D debut.
** Seraph has Mimizuku-san, a CuteOwl who also bears an UncattyResemblance to Seraph.
* MasochistsMeal: They were all subjected to this in their [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uero8t9-sWI first wanko soba off-collab]], with various spicy, sour, or otherwise unpleasant toppings being added to the soba they had to eat [[RuleOfFunny to make it more entertaining]]. Reactions varied from [[spoiler:[[BigEater Seraph]] finding the sour plums unpalatable but otherwise thinking [[ExtremeOmnivore everything was delicious]], to Hibari getting stunlocked by the [[DoesNotLikeSpam sour plums]], to Kanato and Akira [[InelegantBlubbering crying]] and [[ScreamsLikeALittleGirl screaming]] in pain as they're being [[ComedicSociopathy forced by the other two]] to keep eating]]. To add to the hilarity, it's revealed that [[spoiler:one of the three spicy sauces they used was actually [[BlazingInfernoHellfireSauce scorpion pepper hot sauce]]]].
** They later did [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd3GRiLgo6s another wanko soba off-collab in 3D]], which predictably involved them subjecting themselves to similar torture yet again. [[spoiler:Even Seraph ends up suffering this time around]].
* MoodWhiplash: Hibari's [[WholeEpisodeFlashback Memories of Nostalgia]] voice drama caused this when following up Seraph and Akira's preceding ones, as Hibari's comparatively [[LighterAndSofter lighthearted]] escapades in avoiding expulsion due to his [[BookDumb terrible grades]] were contrasted with the previous two installments' emotionally charged espionage thriller which culminated in [[spoiler:Seraph trying to kill Akira]]. Hilariously [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by [[https://twitter.com/Shikinagi_2434/status/1722895685706825886 Akira]] himself.
* NoEscapeButDown: When their cover is blown in their first voice drama, the four of them end up having to fight their way to the rooftop of the building they infiltrated. After Akira [[WeldTheLock welds the door shut]] behind them, the others decide to make their escape by jumping off, much to [[OnlySaneMan Akira]]'s consternation. Unfortunately for him, the other three drag him off the roof with them anyway.
* NoIndoorVoice: All of them in their more chaotic collabs, such as their ''VideoGame/GangBeasts'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kxjHm0Hwdo&t=1713s collab]], their ''VideoGame/UltimateChickenHorse'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnktGRWD7io collab]], and especially their ''VideoGame/LethalCompany'' collab, the last of which has generated [[https://youtu.be/gMeDsZdSP-o clip compilations]] just of their screaming. Yes, even [[ScreamsLikeALittleGirl Akira]] and [[NotSoAboveItAll Seraph]]. This gets even more pronounced when the group [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vn1Y_MMMdl0 is together in 3D]].
* NonUniformUniform: Their school uniform outfits are this. Though apparently [[JustifiedTrope justified]], as the rules around customizing them at their boarding school were quite lax.
* PlotMandatedFriendshipFailure: Akira and Seraph's friendship underwent this early on during their backstories, [[spoiler:after Seraph confirms that Akira was, as he suspected, a DoubleAgent feeding information about their organizations to another party]] in Akira's Memories of Nostalgia voice drama. Their subsequent fight has them exchanging bitterly sarcastic barbs about their "friendship" - which was, despite everything, genuine. [[spoiler:This along with their [[DefectorFromDecadence mutual disdain for and desire to break free from said organizations]] are key to them eventually patching things up, with Seraph covering up Akira's treachery to their higher-ups]].
* PoliceAreUseless: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. They'll tell clients if their requests are more appropriate to be brought to the police, and will defer things that are more suited for conventional law enforcement to handle (e.g., arrests and prosecution) to them after VOLTACTION have done the [[BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork dirty work]].
* {{Portmanteau}}: The group's name is one of "voltage" and "bolt-action".
* PragmaticHero: While they are firmly on the side of good, [[ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight good does not necessarily mean legal]]. Nor does it mean that the members [[GoodIsNotSoft won't resort to things]] like death threats and [[JackBauerInterrogationTechnique just a little bit of torture]] to accomplish their goals.
* PuttingTheBandBackTogether: InUniverse. After graduating, the members initially went their separate ways and spent some years honing their skills in their respective underworld enterprises. Kanato eventually brought them back together as adults to form VOLTACTION.
* RedOniBlueOni: Hibari and Akira have this dynamic, where Hibari is the red oni to Akira's blue.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Hibari-san and Mimizuku-san, Hibari and Seraph's respective {{Mascot}}s. So cute, [[https://nijisanji-store.com/collections/voltaction-1st-anniversary/products/voltaction-1st-anniversary-hibari-san-plush plush]] [[https://nijisanji-store.com/collections/voltaction/products/voltaction-1st-anniversary-mimizuku-san-plush versions]] of them were made as official merchandise for VOLTACTION's 1st anniversary.
* RomanticSpoonfeeding: [[ShipTease Akira and Seraph]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJuqbMlGE3Q spoonfed each other]] for VOLTACTION's taste test king off-collab despite the Zeffiro duo also being available and there not being much of a practical reason for them to do so, leading viewers to immediately interpret it as this trope. Akira's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlxyRr0VooI obvious giddiness when reminiscing about it]] after the topic of how it's one of his favorite BL tropes comes up in a later stream does nothing to discourage this interpretation.
* RuleOfFunny: They pride themselves on being a group that's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuZz_v3ysqw&t=1420s willing to do]] almost ''anything'' for content. Well, except spending the night in a haunted location for [[CowardlyLion Kanato]] and eating live bugs for [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes Hibari]] (however dead bugs are fine). Akira and Seraph aren't particularly keen on eating live bugs either, but unlike Hibari will do it provided they're allowed to vomit for the former and if it's pre-recorded for the latter.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: VOLTACTION have a vague goal of bringing happiness to people, but given the members' respective skillsets, they primarily operate [[TheCaper outside the law]] to do so - either because their missions are just straight-up illegal (e.g., breaking into government buildings and offices to find and reveal evidence of political corruption), or in cases where law enforcement is [[CorruptCop compromised]] (e.g., intervening in a hostage situation where they suspect police are in on it).
* SoundtrackDissonance: [[InvokedTrope Invoked]] by their staff twice during their [[https://youtu.be/hPpiFkD-eJg 2024 Valentine's Day 3D off-collab]], which gets [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] each time.
** First, when the boys are in a bright pink, cheerful store setting:
--->'''Akira:''' Please stop with the unsettling BGM.
** Then later, when they're acting out a scene in which they're breaking up with their hypothetical lover:
--->'''Kanato:''' For some reason, the BGM is super comedic.
* TeamChef: As [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDur1x2oc_g&t=3795s stated]] by Kanato and Akira themselves, Hibari and Seraph are this, as they're both [[SupremeChef excellent cooks]] and often make food for the other members. Fittingly, they're split onto opposite teams for VOLTACTION's 2v2 cooking off-collab with each of them taking charge of their respective teams.
* TeamPet: While [[{{Mascot}} Hibari-san and Mimizuku-san]] are official companions to Hibari and Seraph respectively, they [[https://twitter.com/VOLTACTION_info/status/1739118770382397743 have been depicted as pets]] for the whole group and have made [[https://youtu.be/z55cTA88RCk appearances]] in their 3D off-collabs in which they have been treated as this.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: While their bickering is all [[VitriolicBestBuds fond]] now, lore-wise Akira and Seraph could barely tolerate each other early in their relationship.
-->'''Akira:''' Of course, even though we're cooperating as partners, if either of us are caught or attacked and become a liability, there's no need to come to the other's rescue. Completing the mission is the priority.
-->'''Seraph:''' You don't have to tell me twice.
-->'''Akira:''' I'm glad we're both on the same page.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Kanato and Hibari.
* ThrowbackThreads: Their school uniform outfits and hairstyles are this to their boarding school days.
* TogetherInDeath: In a rather [[GallowsHumor macabre]] way of expressing their [[TrueCompanions friendship]], the members have fairly consistently joked on several occasions that when they die, they'll die - and go to hell - together.
* TooManyBelts: [[https://i.redd.it/x1q50y3yz8c91.jpg 63 of them in total]] to be precise, across their four default outfits.
* TrueCompanions: Are this to each other both in and out of lore. In fact, the four of them apparently [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xttml_amwEU&t=3170s knew each other]] from even before they all passed the first generation VTA auditions and became classmates. By the time VOLTACTION's debut was announced, they were already close friends who frequently hung out and had even travelled and rented a cottage together. As Seraph puts it, they were a group that was formed specifically ''because'' they were already best friends prior to debuting, rather than a group that became friends because they debuted together.
** To a lesser extent all the alumni of VTA's first generation that ended up debuting with Nijisanji - the members of VOLTACTION, [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Ranunculus]], and [[Characters/Nijisanji2023 Idios' Roco]] - are also this; they treat each other as ''de facto'' genmates without regard for the usual [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseHonorifics Senpai-Kohai dynamic]] or debut dates.
* VacationEpisode: They went travelling together as part of their first anniversary celebrations, which was chronicled in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M13_PeI7vTU a live-action vlog]]. Doubles as a RealWorldEpisode.
* ValentinesDayEpisode:
** Their [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Mo6K07S7xE debate tournament off-collab]] in 2023, where they argued for or against various Valentine's Day-related conundrums.
** They did [[https://youtu.be/hPpiFkD-eJg a 3D off-collab]] in 2024 for the holiday, this time acting out various romantic scenarios InTheStyleOf an otome game. Though VOLTACTION certainly [[{{Bishonen}} look the part]], with them being them, it ended up being a lot more silly and chaotic than you would expect.
* VillainousLineage: Their shared concept, as they all come from criminal or otherwise morally ambiguous backgrounds: Kanato is a [[TheMafia mafia]] heir, Hibari is the heir to a family of [[PhantomThief phantom thieves]], Akira's family is part of an [[CloakAndDagger espionage organization]], and Seraph comes from a family of [[ProfessionalKiller assassins]].
* VitriolicBestBuds: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACR9NnLlcWc According to Akira]], the VOLTACTION members have never actually fought, because they always make sure they communicate and sort out any misunderstandings before they escalate. That being said, that doesn't stop them from trolling and poking fun at each other. Akira and Seraph in particular bicker LikeAnOldMarriedCouple and snipe at and tease each other regularly, but they ultimately have a very sweet friendship.
* WhiteSheep: Every member is this to their respective families.

The heir of a mafia family who owns and manages cafés and restaurants as chairman of the Venti Group.

----
* AbsurdPhobia: To this day, he's scared of the mascot of Jack in the Box (as in the American fast food chain), stemming from a childhood trauma in which his [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BPxGDkOYJA&t=176s father put on a mask of the character and scared the wits out of little Kanato]], telling him that if he did anything bad, Jack would come after him.
* TheAce: As his genmates have acknowledged, he is ''the'' representative gamer of VOLTACTION, and is probably best known for his proficiency in [[FirstPersonShooter FPS]] games like ''VideoGame/ApexLegends'' and especially ''{{VideoGame/VALORANT}}''. He was the first JP branch liver to reach Immortal rank in ''VALORANT'' on-stream, and as of January 2024 he has achieved the highest peak rank of anyone in the main branch. His skills aren't limited to shooters either, as his excellent game sense has translated to him [[CurbStompBattle wiping the floor]] with his friends even in games like ''VideoGame/UltimateChickenHorse''.
** He was even tapped to captain a team for Nijisanji's 2nd agency-wide VALORANT customs tournament, becoming the most recent debutant to do so.
** He became [[TheLeader leader]] of Team 01 as the tier 1 representative (i.e., one of the highest ranked participants) in the inaugural edition of [[{{VideoGame/Valorant}} VSaikyo Act 1]], [[spoiler:and ended up leading his team to victory in the tournament]].
* AfraidOfNeedles: Doesn't have piercings or tattoos for this reason, in addition to fear of it hurting.
* TheAlcoholic: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjxr0bzHZGQ By his own admission]] according to [[Characters/NijisanjiENOBSYDIA Selen]]. He has a tremendously high alcohol tolerance - it apparently takes ''two and a half bottles'' of wine for him to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfBo3TCE4VY&t=1245s feel it]] the next morning.
* TheAllegedBoss: [[BenevolentBoss A positive version of the trope]]. He technically is Hibari's boss, but treats him as a close friend and equal even when adhering to {{Kayfabe}}. According to Hibari, if he's having an issue at work he doesn't bother bringing it up with the café manager, instead [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Iz792OSgnY&t=5375s going straight to Kanato]].
* ArtEvolution: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vj403Da8__Q Debuted]] his [=Live2D=] 3.0 model on October 31, 2023.
* AttractiveBentGender: Kana, his female counterpart.
* BadassInDistress: Gets held hostage by a group of thugs in VOLTACTION's second voice drama.
* BatmanGrabsAGun: In VOLTACTION's first voice drama, after their cover is blown and he and Hibari find themselves surrounded and outnumbered by thugs, ''[[TechnicalPacifist Kanato]]'' is the one that doesn't hesitate to start fighting his way through - only needing backup when a thug pulls out a gun.
-->'''Hibari:''' Oi, oi, oi! Who was the one who said we should try not to hurt anyone if we could help it?
-->'''Kanato:''' This is an emergency situation - we don't have a choice, do we!?
* BelievingTheirOwnLies: Either this or IRejectYourReality, depending on whether Kanato retrieved the SanityBall at the end of his [[SanitySlippage deranged]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USYSS-Bqsfk "imaginary genmates" stream]] or not. When it's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4OsCb51soM&t=5500s mentioned again]] months later when he's asked what the most memorable thing they've done as a group was, he still talks about it as if the other members of VOLTACTION really were there and he wasn't just hallucinating them. For what it's worth, the other three [[MaintainTheLie willingly go along with it]], agreeing with him that it ''was'' fun.
* BespectacledCutie: Wears a large round pair of glasses in his school uniform outfit.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Don't let his [[{{Keet}} sunny attitude]] and cute mannerisms fool you - [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLVwsJFfzfM&t=16302s according to Seraph]], disrespecting Kanato never, ever ends well, since he's [[StrongerThanTheyLook actually frighteningly strong]]. And that's not even getting into his [[JackBauerInterrogationTechnique methods of extracting information]] or [[AmbiguousSituation whatever it is he does]] for his [[TheMafia family]].
* BoyfriendBlockingDad: PlayedForLaughs. In his playthrough of ''Volcano Princess'', his [[https://youtu.be/Cz0A50Wj9zk?t=984 requirements]] for any suitor for his in-game daughter Kanon is to be in the highest rank tiers of ''{{VideoGame/VALORANT}}'', ''VideoGame/ApexLegends'', ''VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends'', and ''[[VideoGame/CounterStrike Counter Strike: Global Offensive]]'' all at once. After potential marriage candidate Hackett shows interest in Kanon, he adds on being top ranked in ''VideoGame/TeamfightTactics'', ''VideoGame/EscapeFromTarkov'', and ''VideoGame/StreetFighter6''. When Kanon is complimentary of Hackett in return and Hackett continues flirting, he can be heard [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cz0A50Wj9zk&t=11457s banging his desk repeatedly]].
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Despite his quirks, he's a natural leader and a capable businessman. The latter is explored in [[RestaurantOwningEpisode more detail]] in VOLTACTION's first voice drama, which shows Kanato keeping tabs on his competition and mediating a situation where a community is fighting the opening of a new Venti Group restaurant in the neighborhood.
* CallBack: His [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxoqmNFeIow 3D debut]] contained some of these to some of his more infamous streams, for example, having a harmonica in his mouth while playing a VR horror game and making his genmates (who were actually present this time) disappear at the end of their segment à la his "imaginary genmates" stream.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: While still quite spirited and energetic, Kanato has shed some of the more forced cuteness and naivete he showed in his early streams, becoming more [[DeadpanSnarker sardonic and snarky]] as time goes on.
* ClassRepresentative: Naturally, as TheLeader. During VOLTACTION's school years, he was the head of his class in-lore prior to becoming StudentCouncilPresident. [[spoiler:Comes in handy when Hibari is one merit badge short of qualifying for the bonus marks he needs to pass his next exam and thus avoid getting expelled, since badges can be awarded by both teachers ''and'' heads of class]]...
* ComedicSociopathy: He got to control the shock device VOLTACTION used as a punishment game for their ''Momotaro Densetsu'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-JoncUtwTM off-collab]]... and enjoyed it a little ''too'' much. Kanato became oddly enthusiastic about how much he wanted the others to suffer, and when it came time for [[spoiler:Hibari to get a shock]], he not only [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-JoncUtwTM&t=6647s shocked him once but twice]] for good measure - right when the other let his guard down after the first shock. For added sociopath points, he [[GigglingVillain giggled like a maniac]] afterwards.
* CoolBike: Owns a personalized [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkxEW-SOAnA&t=6100s custom moped]].
* CovertPervert: Despite his cute and youthful demeanor, he has a habit of saying some [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5vWSP_AahU risqué]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9or0LYZ_9fo things]].
* CowardlyYellow: Associated with the color yellow and has by far the [[https://youtu.be/nrLHy0nXYq4 lowest tolerance]] for [[JumpScare jumpscares]] amongst his genmates - he can only play horror games for about an hour at a time before he becomes a NervousWreck. It took him ''six months'' to finish ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil7Biohazard'' because he kept putting off continuing it. He's also apparently the reason VOLTACTION don't do more horror game collabs.
* [[CuteClumsyGirl Cute Clumsy Boy]]: He arguably is the most ''ponkotsu'' of the four VOLTACTION members, with his various mishaps - such as forgetting to press the start stream button, forgetting to mute, somehow unintentionally spectating matches he organized, and slamming his knees on his desk or [[PeopleFallOffChairs literally falling off his chair]] when jumpscared - being numerous enough to make [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF2hMETw_Ak compilations]].
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Not fond of kahlua, tomatoes, and cabbage rolls.
* TheDragAlong: His friends have to force him to play horror games with them. Hibari [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7SIHIGvuCg one-sidedly decided]] that they were playing ''{{VideoGame/Pacify}}'' together, forcing Kanato's hand by sending a thumbnail, setting a stream time, and tweeting that it was happening. Seraph took things even further for their ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ze-9R1BV44A off-collab]] by [[KidnappedByTheCall kidnapping]] him, dragging him to the studio, and ''locking him in a cage''.
* DrivenToSuicide: PlayedForLaughs a few times. In [[BlackComedy hilarious]] contrast to his bright personality, he has a rather glum outlook when it comes to certain things.
** When asked if he could bring only one thing to a deserted island, what would it be, he simply answered "[[https://youtu.be/v4OsCb51soM?t=5146 a loaded gun]]". It's only when the other members and viewers answered things like "a boat" or "[[TheAce Seraph]]" that he realized that there might have been other solutions.
** If a zombie apocalypse ever happened, he would want to "[[https://youtu.be/v4OsCb51soM?t=5192 end things quickly and painlessly]]". True to these words, when playing ''VideoGame/ResidentEvilVillage'', he begs an NPC to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vrvf0DvbvM&t=2684s shoot him with the shotgun he's wielding]], though it was probably more to [[LovableCoward avoid playing the game]] than anything else.
* DrunkenMaster: Somehow [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykL4OyCvqh4 gets better]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGx6WVFItIk scores]] when playing ''[[VideoGame/BigBrainAcademy Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain]]'' while drunk than when playing normally, even setting new records.
* ElementalMotifs: Wind. His last name Fura contains the kanji for wind (風) and his symbol/logo is a windmill/pinwheel. Many of his businesses' names also allude to wind in [[GratuitousItalian Italian]]: the Venti Group (wind), CAFE Zeffiro (zephyr or west wind), Ristorante Maestrale (mistral or northwest wind), Pizzeria Euro (east wind), Buffet Aliseo (trade wind), Bar Libeccio (southwest wind), and Grecale (northeast wind).
* EpicFail: Ends up scoring all of [[spoiler:''zero'' points]] in Struck Out during VOLTACTION's 3D summer off-collab, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amlX72-iIRw&t=3458s which left him hilariously distraught]]. As the collab happened not long after the 2023 edition of [[VideoGame/LivePowerfulProBaseball Nijisanji Koshien]], much fun was made of his character's pitching stat having been grade D in that event.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: In-lore, of course. He's remarked that while he's well aware that his parents are involved in some shady business practices, they've only ever been loving with him.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: When his MagicalEye is active, his pupil becomes a glowing diamond surrounded by a similarly glowing crosshair-like multi-pointed star that extends beyond his iris.
* FakeOutFadeOut: His [[https://youtu.be/Hng4F0J4TeI playthrough]] of ''VideoGame/NightSecurity'' featured multiple instances of [[CowardlyLion him]] pretending to end the stream when he was particularly afraid, complete with the usual transition screen and music.
* FakeShemp: When he broke {{Kayfabe}} for a moment to discuss what happened behind the scenes of his [[https://youtu.be/USYSS-Bqsfk "imaginary genmates" stream]], he revealed that Akira wasn't able to get his voice lines in on time since he only asked them about 10 minutes before the start of the stream - so the "Akira" heard in the stream was actually [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0GLmeGo0C4&t=793s Kanato doing an impression of him]].
* FamilyEyeResemblance: His MagicalEye is a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62h7c35qQko&t=30416s hereditary]] trait.
* FamilyOfChoice: All of VOLTACTION are this to each other [[DefectorFromDecadence in-lore]], but this might be especially true for Kanato even in real life. He has stated that he genuinely views the members as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsp0ENLTdNE more like his family than just friends]], and admitted that he talks to them more than his actual family.
* FantasyForbiddingFather: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BPxGDkOYJA&t=254s Describes]] his [[TheDon father]] as a typical mafioso - stern and [[TattooedCrook tattooed from head to toe]]. He apparently forbade Kanato from playing too many video games, telling him he [[ToughLove needed discipline]] and encouraging him to practice martial arts or study instead.
* TheFashionista: Loves fashion and accessorizing, never wears the same thing twice, and isn't pinned down to a single genre or subculture. Other livers have mentioned that his stylishness is actually kind of intimidating in real life.
* FriendlessBackground: He's discussed that he wasn't actually that great at making and keeping friends in the past, partially because of his [[ShrinkingViolet shyness]] around strangers. Before VOLTACTION and VTA, he didn't have any friends he was particularly close enough to keep in touch with on a regular basis.
** Also true in-lore, as Kanato states in his Memories of Nostalgia episode that one of the reasons he wanted to go to BoardingSchool was that he wanted to make friends around his own age. He had one when he was little and living at his family's holiday home (who is heavily implied to be Hibari), but lost touch with them when he had to move back to the main house.
* FrothyMugsOfWater: It's not a secret that Kanato appreciates his alcohol, but he has admitted to lying about drinking on stream before by [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R7P5B-Qhng&t=2860s referring to what he's drinking as "tea"]].
* GenkiGirl: Kana, his [[AttractiveBentGender genderswapped counterpart]], is an incredibly energetic and cheerful GyaruGirl, paralleling Kanato, who is a [[TheFashionista stylish]] {{Keet}}.
* GratuitousItalian: Despite his very Japanese name, Kanato has stated that his family has [[TheSyndicate branches internationally]], and it's implied that his particular flavor of TheMafia is of the Sicilian variety. As such, his associated lore is peppered with Italian, most prominently in association with his businesses.
* TheGunslinger: He is shown to be good at [=FPS=] games, and it's listed as one of his favorite types of games. A gun is also his weapon of choice InUniverse.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Blond and ultimately good, if [[PragmaticHero pragmatic]] about it like the rest of VOLTACTION.
* HandCannon: He carries a large pistol that matches his outfit.
* HeroesLoveDogs: Owns a pet dog that he's referred to as [[{{Franchise/Pokemon}} Poochyena]].
* HiddenDepths:
** Despite being best ''known'' for [[FirstPersonShooter FPS]] games, the kinds of games he tends to stream otherwise are actually often obscure indie puzzle games or indie [[RolePlayingGame RPGs]].
** He has a lot of experience with marine sports (and worked part-time in a marine sports shop in the past). He's good at surfing, wakeboarding, and swimming, and even has a boating license.
** While he hasn't practiced in a while, [[https://youtu.be/lNibeq44Hw4?t=9447 he does hold a black belt in karate]].
* HonestCorporateExecutive: Apparently keeps his restaurant industry dealings separate from his [[TheMafia family]] ones, which means he sometimes ends up being a PenPushingPresident, much to his displeasure.
* ICantLookGesture: Will often [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEWfStQZ10Y close his eyes]] and look away when playing horror games, which gets expressed quite clearly through his character model.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: [[ImpliedTrope Implied]] in his debut lore, given his irritation at being told to remember his [[MafiaPrincess station]] and at not being left alone by his security detail even when just going for a walk in town.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9nWOxBXBZw confessed]] that one of the reasons he joined Nijisanji was to have friends to play video games with. It was also the in-lore reason why he wanted to leave home and go to BoardingSchool.
* TheIllegible: He appears to have absolutely [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Shy3ToK9eYs&t=3585s awful handwriting]], which [[https://twitter.com/KNTFR2434/status/1653895928351449088 Kanato himself]] has [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]]. However, oddly enough it looks like this is limited to when he writes digitally, as his analog handwriting seems perfectly legible.
* ImAHumanitarian: PlayedForLaughs. Kanato released a series of short videos detailing how to defeat the other members of VOLTACTION as if they were animals to be hunted, with the pretext of turning them into food. Apparently, [[https://www.youtube.com/shorts/f0ygECLt66U Seraph]] would make great nabe, [[https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Minn7k8p2M4 Hibari]] makes for tasty sashimi, and [[https://www.youtube.com/shorts/fq7uznVSV0o Akira]] tastes good when grilled.
* ImpracticalMusicalInstrumentSkills: After noticing that he was only using his right hand to play ''Trombone Champ'', he came up with the brilliant idea of using his left hand to play the harmonica at the same time. This resulted in some [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W47p7O8pZBQ&t=2465s absolutely unhinged harmonica/trombone self-duets]] that have to be heard to be believed - and yet as viewers note, somehow still sound decent.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Has developed a reputation for this in shooter games like ''{{VideoGame/VALORANT}}'', to the point where his senpais jokingly accused him of being Nijisanji's first cheater when he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBppbG8uI-E&t=11108s pulls off ridiculous headshots]]. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] in-lore, given the function of his MagicalEye.
* InelegantBlubbering: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uero8t9-sWI&t=650s Reduced to this]] during VOLTACTION's [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanko_soba wanko soba]] off-collab after being forced to eat noodles topped with [[MasochistsMeal scorpion pepper hot sauce, wasabi, sour plums]], among other things.
* InSeriesNickname: Referred to as "[[TheLeader Leader]]" and all the variations thereof by the VOLTACTION members, naturally. He's also occasionally referred to as "Owner", usually by Hibari.
* JackBauerInterrogationTechnique: He's still a [[TheMafia mafia]] heir, after all. Being a TechnicalPacifist doesn't stop him from shooting a {{Mook}} in the leg, among [[VillainyDiscretionShot other things left to the listeners' imagination]] to get him to talk in VOLTACTION's second voice drama.
-->'''Kanato:''' Ahaha... even rubber bullets hurt, don't they? [...] So now... we'll listen carefully to what you have to say, '''''onii-san'''''.
* JustOneMoreLevel: He apparently mentioned in his ANYCOLOR audition interview that he can play video games for ''35 hours'' without stopping. Since debuting, ''VideoGame/EscapeFromTarkov'' in particular has had this effect on him - he's managed to play for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQMg2NKENms 15-18 hours]] straight and neglect basic human necessities like eating, bathing and sleeping. This has led to [[Characters/NijisanjiENXSOLEIL Kotoka]] jokingly asking if he's a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DboRjf0_3J4 bottler]].[[labelnote:Note]]Someone who is so addicted to playing games they use a plastic bottle to relieve themselves when they need to urinate rather than go to the washroom.[[/labelnote]]
* {{Keet}}: He is very cheerful and upbeat.
* TheLeader: Of VOLTACTION, and the one who masterminds their operations.
* LetsGetDangerous: Gets deadly serious when in leader mode.
-->'''Kanato:''' Alright. From here on out, no more fooling around. Let's go.
* [[MafiaPrincess Mafia Prince]]: He is one, and is expected to succeed his father as the next head of the family. However, Kanato himself has no interest in doing so.
* MagicalEye: His right eye glows and acts as a [[SuperSenses target sight]] when active. He can turn it on at will, though it also glows when he's in a heightened emotional state.
* MagicHair: The lock of hair that's dyed orange is apparently [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLyWemJkxKA&t=2973s hard enough to break bones]].
* MusclesAreMeaningless: While his character model is more on the slim side, he has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ngsuf40GD6g a strong grip and high physical strength]] as a result of his marine sports experience and working in a marine sports shop. [[ZigZaggingTrope Zigzagged]] in real life, as while he still is slim (especially after losing four kilograms due to an illness), both he and Seraph have stated that his build is a bit more muscular than you would expect.
* MusicForCourage: A lighthearted example. He tends to break out a musical instrument to calm himself down when he gets particularly scared in horror games - thus far he's played a cowbell, castanets, and a harmonica. He's also used a pair of maracas to cheer on his teammates in ''VideoGame/ApexLegends''.
* NeighbourhoodFriendlyGangsters: Despite his friendly and cheerful personality he's still involved in his family's criminal empire, though he presumably avoids the less savory aspects of it.
* NightmareFace: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxoqmNFeIow&t=2757s Can make one]] when in 3D, complete with WideEyesAndShrunkenIrises.
* OldShame: He [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlXZgUHb1ZI rewatched his debut stream]] for his first anniversary, and physically could not handle it because of how cringey he found himself to be. He ended up angrily lampooning himself for most of the rewatch, vowing to [[LiquidCourage never get drunk]] before a stream ever again.
* OminousMusicBoxTune: Played in the background of his infamously [[SanitySlippage deranged]] ''VideoGame/MarioPartySuperstars'' turned pure psychological horror [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USYSS-Bqsfk stream]].
* TheOneGuy: Of his SUMIRE CUSTOM: [[{{VideoGame/PlayerUnknownsBattlegrounds}} PUBG]] team, which included [[Characters/NijisanjiGamers Himawari]], [[Characters/Nijisanji2019 Ratna]], and [[Characters/NijisanjiGamers Youko]], as well as his [[{{VideoGame/Valorant}} VSaikyo Act 1]] team, which included Himawari and [[Characters/Nijisanji2023 Akari]], as well as [=VSpo!=]'s Hanabusa Lisa and Komori Met. The dynamics in the latter were made extra funny by the fact that he was also TheLeader of the team.
* OtherMeAnnoysMe: Hilariously enough, based on their limited interactions with each other [[AttractiveBentGender Kana]] seems to grate on Kanato's nerves despite their similar temperaments.
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. Vague allusions to the work he does for his family are made in VOLTACTION's associated lore - [[spoiler:and in fact continuing to do work for the family was the condition he was given to be able to leave home and go to BoardingSchool]] - though what exactly this work is [[AmbiguousSituation hasn't been elaborated on in detail]] other than a mention of being asked to find evidence of their associates' suspected unauthorized smuggling.
* ProneToTears: Describes himself as a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrAxiGJm_Ms&t=4351s crybaby]].
* PronounTrouble: He usually uses the less assertive ''[[UsefulNotes/JapanesePronouns boku]]'', but he has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpV-OJLUE68&t=893s slipped up]] and used the more aggressive ''[[UsefulNotes/JapanesePronouns ore]]'', which he berates himself for as he associates it with his work as a mafioso.
* SanitySlippage: Descends into complete horrifying madness over the course of his Christmas Eve 2022 ''VideoGame/MarioPartySuperstars'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USYSS-Bqsfk stream]], as a result of [[GoMadFromTheIsolation being alone]]. While Kanato starts off the stream aware that he's playing it solo, once he notes that the CPU characters have the same ColorMotifs as his genmates, he starts [[TalkingToThemself talking]] and [[HearingVoices acting]] like the other 3 members are [[ImaginaryFriend actually present]]. Things [[HopeSpot appear to look up]] when Hibari, Seraph, and Akira seem to actually join the call, only for the things they say to [[BrokenRecord loop over and over again]], becoming more fragmented and distorted - making it clear that Kanato is full-on [[{{Hallucinations}} hallucinating]]. At first, Kanato keeps talking to his "genmates" and playing like [[DissonantSerenity nothing is wrong]] while the broken audio keeps playing in the background... until he suddenly goes [[NothingIsScarier completely silent]] and ends the stream.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: As the heir to a prominent mafia family, part of what he brings to VOLTACTION is the ability to use his influence and connections to gather information.
-->'''Seraph:''' So then, Kanato... what are you going to be doing?
-->'''Kanato:''' I'll be looking into people who have interacted with the mayor. I hold some power over members of the city council and some local businesses, after all.
* SharedFamilyQuirks:
** His father is just as bad with horror as he is.
** His love of alcohol comes from his mother, who can apparently even drink ''[[TheAlcoholic him]]'' under the table.
* ShoutOut: [[https://twitter.com/KNTFR2434/status/1719344856387195007 One of his 3.0 model's possible expressions]] is explicitly one to ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure''.
* SirSwearsALot: Can be [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHfn-KV7dy4 surprisingly foul-mouthed]], in both Japanese ''and'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uQ2L0t9xkA English]].
* SituationalSociability: Despite his outwardly outgoing personality, other livers have mentioned that he's actually surprisingly [[ShrinkingViolet timid and shy]] when in an unfamiliar place or with people he doesn't know very well. [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Muyu]] has mentioned that even among the other first generation VTA students he didn't talk much at all at first, only becoming as comfortable as he is now with them later on.
* TheStrategist: Plays this role for VOLTACTION as their leader, devising their approach to missions and assigning tasks to each member.
* StudentCouncilPresident: He was this during VOLTACTION's boarding school years, which is reflected in his school uniform outfit.
* [[SugarWiki/SurprisinglyGoodForeignLanguage Surprisingly Good English]]: So much so that he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29Y7lmqMC7w forgets Japanese]] and [[https://youtu.be/yG3X02ftuU8 scrambles English and Japanese together]] at times - he often accompanied his father on business trips to America and spent part of his childhood there. He scored [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrAxiGJm_Ms&t=5698s 750-760]] out of 990 on the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) and has done the most collabs with the EN branch out of the VOLTACTION members; he has stated that he can understand English just fine, but still struggles with grammar and sentence structure.
* TeamMom: [[https://youtu.be/y8gh9taFKKg Particularly]] [[https://youtu.be/mSdWhj09rN0 with]] [[TheBabyOfTheBunch Seraph]].
* TechnicalPacifist: It's revealed in their voice dramas that he only loads his HandCannon with non-lethal rubber bullets and tries to avoid violence except when absolutely necessary, a restriction he imposes on the entire group as well.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Not Kanato, but his [[AttractiveBentGender female counterpart]] Kana.
* TogetherInDeath: PlayedForLaughs. During a ''Super Bunny Man'' collab with Hibari, the latter dies while Kanato lives. To possibly make him feel better, Kanato grabs his body and [[https://youtu.be/nci8djNs05Q?t=56 jumps into a pit of spikes]].
* WineIsClassy: Has a fondness for red wine.
* YoungAndInCharge: While he is one of the younger members of VOLTACTION, he is still the group's founder and undisputed leader. He is also [[ImprobableAge quite young]] for a head of a company.

The heir of a PhantomThief family who works part-time at one of Kanato's cafés, CAFE Zeffiro.

----
* TheAce: In terms of singing, he's the most musically talented of his group. He mixes his own covers as well as for other livers, and was the one who taught Seraph how to do so for his own covers.
* AffectionateNickname: In addition to the above, he gave [[Characters/Nijisanji2019 Toko]] permission to call him Bari-chan.
* AlmightyJanitor: As far as Hibari's concerned, he's just a humble café employee. One that happens to be able to analyze the optimal entry and escape routes for a given building, [[{{Safecracking}} crack]] even the most high-tech safe on the market, and make [[MasterForger replica valuables]] that are good enough to fool other thieves.
* AnimalMotifs: Skylarks, or ''hibari'' in Japanese.
* AscendedFanboy: He is a longtime {{Fanboy}} of ''{{Music/VOCALOID}}'' and music producer kemu/Horie Shota, and has covered several of his songs during his singing streams. Hibari's first original song, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IH_fW8ttjIc skylark]]", was written and produced by none other than Horie himself. Horie also personally taught him how to play the song on the guitar.
* BeautifulSingingVoice: During his debut, he immediately captured the hearts of many with his stunning cover of [[Franchise/KagerouProject Summertime Record]]. This is also shown during his karaoke streams, and he even managed to impress [[Characters/NijisanjiENLuxiem Shu]] [[TheAce Yamino]].
* BecomingTheMask: Originally [[spoiler:stole and forged identification papers]] in order to gain admission to [[BoardingSchool Erfolg College]] so that he'd have a place to sleep while experiencing the big city, but grew to genuinely love the school and his new life as a student. This school pride is [[spoiler:the "exemplary conduct" Kanato cites when awarding Hibari the last merit badge he needs to remain at the school.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: Although he is the oldest member of VOLTACTION, only [[CutenessProximity Seraph]] really invokes this in him, overlapping with BigBrotherMentor. Seraph's earnestness makes Hibari want to teach everything he knows about audio engineering, and Hibari gets a lot of enjoyment from seeing Seraph improve. He also wholeheartedly agreed with [[Characters/Nijisanji2020 Chigusa]] when she referred to him as Seraph's ''onii-chan''.
* BlackComedyAnimalCruelty: In his cover of "[[https://youtu.be/x2dgijvTKEU Newton Dance]]", poor Hibari-san is seen getting pelted with apples; Hibari asked whose idea it was in the premiere chat, seemingly angrily. When Seraph, who illustrated the video, [[https://twitter.com/SerAph_DazZ/status/1723296378422726776 apologized]], Hibari [[https://twitter.com/watarai_hibari/status/1723296692911677705 called him a genius]] and told him to [[BaitAndSwitchCompassion keep coming up with things like that]]. Then again, it might just be because it was [[BigBrotherInstinct Seraph]].
* BlatantBurglar: Not InUniverse, obviously, but he makes some... interesting plays during his first ''VideoGame/ThiefSimulator'' stream, including carrying stolen goods and smashing windows in broad daylight, and breaking in right next to where people are sleeping and getting found out instantly.
* BookDumb: By his own admission, he got a lot of red marks on his tests in school. He once [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiLlK8LIUZk&t=419s managed to get 1% on a test]] despite actually trying and answering all the questions, and even then he suspects the one partially correct mark he received to have been given out of pity. This trait was even incorporated into the plot of his [[WholeEpisodeFlashback Memories of Nostalgia]] voice drama, where in-lore, his academic performance was so abysmal that he was in danger of getting expelled.
** In VOLTACTION's school-themed half-anniversary stream, he scored 175 out of a possible ''500'' on the comprehensive exam they all took; for comparison, [[TheSmartGuy Seraph]], who got the highest marks, more than doubled his score with 418 points. In fact, the [[https://youtu.be/L35XX02gbaQ sheer absurdity of his incorrect answers]] became a RunningGag over the course of the stream.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_94mXt7vj6k&t=8057s Admitted]] to failing the level 4 [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanji_Kentei Japan Kanji Aptitude Test]] with a score of 30 out of 200. Note that the level 4 test is designed to be passed by elementary and junior high school students.
** As revealed during his and Seraph's first ''VideoGame/KeepTalkingAndNobodyExplodes'' collab, he apparently doesn't know what vowels are.
* BorrowedWithoutPermission: In their [[HeistEpisode first voice drama]], he takes the liberty of "borrowing" the blueprints of the building VOLTACTION are trying to break into ahead of time.
* BulletDancing: After accidentally shooting [[Characters/NijisanjiENOBSYDIA Selen]] in practice for the [[VideoGame/PlayerUnknownsBattlegrounds KZHCUP]], Hibari gets branded the "enemy" for the rest of the session. When Selen, Kanato, and [[Characters/NijisanjiIndonesia Bonnivier]] make it to the top of a building while Hibari is still on the ground, they take the opportunity to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksm_SQ7dpZw&t=552s subject him to this]] as their "enemy".
-->'''Selen:''' Dance, enemy, dance!
* CallingCard: Like any good phantom thief, he [[https://twitter.com/watarai_hibari/status/1578324263332872193 has one]], of course.
* [[CalmingTea Calming Coffee]]: Drinks a cup to calm down his nerves when he's anxious or thinking too much.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: Gets drunk immediately [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA6ulx4lznk&t=452s according to Kanato]], and in fact can apparently get drunk just by ''[[https://youtu.be/_94mXt7vj6k?t=4884s eating whiskey bon-bons]]''. His tolerance is so low that he's both [[DrunkenGlow bright red]] and out cold within just 30 minutes of having his first drink.
* ChallengeSeeker: In VOLTACTION's first voice drama, Hibari isn't deterred when it becomes obvious that what they're looking for is likely hidden behind multiple layers of security. In fact, he relishes the chance to do [[MasterOfUnlocking what he does best]].
-->'''Kanato:''' No matter where you are in the world, bad people will always hide important things behind hidden doors.
-->'''Hibari:''' What's with that reasoning? Hmph... but... what an ''interesting'' game you've given me.
-->'''Kanato:''' Ahaha, I'm glad you'll have fun with this. I'll leave it to you, then?
* CharacterCatchphrase: During one of his guest appearances on [=NijiNoon=], the panel was tasked with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmyI4sVke0E coming up with a greeting]] for him. The audience vote settled on [[Characters/NijisanjiFirstWave Elu]]'s suggestion of ''waa, bikkurishita?'', or "boo, did I scare you?", which he has since adopted as his catchphrase. While he initially thought it was a bit corny, he embraced it after realizing the potential for it to prompt some fun [[PhraseCatcher phrase catching]] from his viewers.
* CluelessChickMagnet: PlayedForLaughs during a playthrough of ''[[VideoGame/LivePowerfulProBaseball eBASEBALL Powerful Pro Baseball 2022]]''. He kept inadvertently making the right choices to make female characters flirt or fall for him, much to his escalating horror as he had already [[MistakenForCheating decided on a love interest]]. He eventually resorts to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bdPldlnTug&t=8003s zooming in on himself]] to cover the screen during one of these scenes.
* ComedicSociopathy: Happens often enough that he has even uploaded a [[https://youtu.be/rl_qMuoeEys clip compilation]] of his "natural psychopath" moments.
** During VOLTACTION's [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanko_soba wanko soba]] eating contest [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uero8t9-sWI&t=680s off-collab]], Hibari is clearly [[{{Sadist}} having the time of his life]] forcing Akira to eat more and more plates of soba with [[MasochistsMeal either horribly sour or horribly spicy toppings]] and watching him suffer as a result.
--->(''while Akira is screaming about how much it hurts in the background'')
--->'''Hibari''': (''[[GigglingVillain giggling]]'') This is so much fun!
* CompressedVice: Briefly [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z2I9v7Fim8 descends]] into [[TheGamblingAddict gacha hell]] trying to pull Zhongli in ''VideoGame/GenshinImpact'', and gets characteristically [[LargeHam overdramatic]] about it when his luck proves to be [[BornUnlucky absolutely horrendous]].
* ConspicuousGloves: Wears a pair of red gloves at all times as part of his default outfit.
* CoolMask: Has one that has a vaguely bird-like aesthetic to it, in line with his AnimalMotifs. In addition to looking cool, he can [[GogglesDoSomethingUnusual detect security details such as infrared sensors]] while wearing it, which likely comes in handy given his [[PhantomThief nighttime occupation]].
* CountryMouse: His family is based in the countryside in-lore, which was too quiet for a LargeHam with aspirations of becoming an entertainer like him to do anything too showy. The SmallTownBoredom lead him to [[TheRunaway run away]] from home in order to see the city.
* CuteLittleFang: He has one that looks like it's part of his mouth.
* CutenessProximity: Has a massive soft spot for [[BigBrotherInstinct Seraph]], and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=263GEHxQJJI&t=5744s finds him]] [[ImTakingHerHomeWithMe absolutely adorable]].
* {{Determinator}}: Ran ''[[https://youtu.be/buoLXusQiiQ 5-6 kilometers]]'' to the hospital to undergo surgery.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Hates pickled leeks and sour things in general. He's also not a fan of coriander.
* TheDriver: He's the one behind the wheel in VOLTACTION's [[RealWorldEpisode real world]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M13_PeI7vTU travel vlog]].
* DuetBonding: With [[Characters/Nijisanji2019 Fuwa]], who he tapped to accompany him on the electric guitar as a guest during his 3D debut. This later lead to a full-on [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi1EP0Hh2Es two-man session live]] with Fuwa on the guitar and Hibari on vocals, and as announced in said live, an entire band project.
* DumbButDiligent: Describes his experience in school as this. While his grades [[BookDumb left a lot to be desired]], he was never late, had perfect attendance, and got along very well with his teachers. [[SubvertedTrope However]] according to Kanato, the diligent part now no longer applies as he is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y58BDokJnA frequently late]] for their get-togethers.
* EmotionalRegression: PlayedForLaughs in VOLTACTION's summer sports battle off-collab. After scores were shown at the mid-point of the collab and he was revealed to be [[spoiler:in dead last and quite far behind]], he starts [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amlX72-iIRw&t=2636s jokingly whining to the staff]] about wanting some sort of gimmick that can [[DeusExMachina turn things around]], which quickly devolves into him throwing a full-on toddler-esque tantrum. It takes the combined efforts of both [[DesignatedParents Akira and Kanato]] to calm him down.
-->'''Akira:''' We bought you plenty of candy yesterday, didn't we?
-->'''Hibari:''' But I don't have enough candy!
-->'''Akira:''' We have more at home! There's still some at home!
-->'''Hibari:''' No! I want potato chips and cola too!
-->'''Kanato:''' This brat just won't stop - be quiet!
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Showed up to his debut stream singing with a live band, which not only established him as TheRockStar, but immediately cemented himself as one of Nijisanji's best vocalists right off the bat.
* EurekaMoment: In VOLTACTION's second voice drama, he jokingly wonders if their client's stuffed animal has something hidden in it, like it would [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall if they were in a manga or something]]. This leads him to actually take a closer look at it, and as an expert thief, he immediately recognizes that [[spoiler:the toy's eyes are in fact gemstones worth several hundred million yen]].
* ExoticEyeDesigns: His pupils are diamond shaped with a tiny dot in the middle.
* ExpressiveMask: When he wears his [[CoolMask mask]] on stream, his eye movements still get tracked to the mask's eye holes themselves when said eye holes are [[IrislessEyeMaskOfMystery opaque]], leading to this trope.
* FailedASpotCheck: In spades during [[Characters/Nijisanji2020 VΔLZ]] and VOLTACTION's first ''Feign'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clRk6CwsdgE collab]]. Comes to a head when he [[spoiler: votes to eject Seraph and hands the imposter Akira the win, despite the fact that Kaida having previously been confirmed innocent also confirmed that Seraph was innocent]].
-->'''Hibari:''' Um... so I'm an idiot.
-->'''Everyone Else''': (''laughing'') Right, right. / We knew. / We knew that already.
* {{Fanboy}}: A longtime fan of ''{{Music/VOCALOID}}'', particularly works by producers kemu and Jin.
* FeatherMotif: In keeping with his AnimalMotifs, his [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FXysj4paIAEVXkQ?format=jpg&name=large logo]] prominently features a pair of wings. This logo is displayed in a fittingly symbolic location, right on the back of his BadassLongcoat. In his school uniform outfit, he also wears a [[FashionableAsymmetry single earring]] composed of brown feathers, much like a skylark's plumage.
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: It is strongly implied that he was the one same-age ChildhoodFriend Kanato had before VOLTACTION but lost contact with. Though Kanato seems to put two and two together and realize this near the end of his Memories of Nostalgia voice drama, Hibari remains oblivious.
* FunPersonified: Described by Akira as the quintessential extrovert.
* GemstoneMotifs: He's often depicted with gemstones in general, befitting a PhantomThief, but he's also specifically associated with diamonds. One of his fanmarks is a diamond, his pupils are [[ExoticEyeDesigns diamond shaped]], and diamonds are prominently featured in his streaming layout.
* GeniusDitz: While he is very much BookDumb and terrible at studying as he himself has acknowledged, there's no denying that he's an expert when it comes to any sort of audio mixing, editing, or engineering as well as streaming equipment; multiple livers have come to him for either help or advice on these matters. This is of course in addition to his skills and training as a phantom thief.
* GratuitousEnglish: While his English pronounciation is good, his comprehension of the language itself isn't, which has lead to hilarity - for example, the infamous [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6nQ3NDiOX0 "OF CORTH!"]] moment from VOLTACTION's half-anniversary stream. As Seraph notes, while Hibari [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLVwsJFfzfM&t=15766s cannot communicate]] with his café's foreign customers in the slightest, he more than makes up for it with [[LargeHam passion]].
* GroinAttack: During his and Kanato's ''Super Bunny Man'' collab, a stalactite falls and hits Hibari's character in a very [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9or0LYZ_9fo&t=45s unfortunate]] location. [[CovertPervert Kanato]] then cracked a joke about [[VisualInnuendo what it looked like]] that was a CallBack to a previous conversation they had with [[Characters/NijisanjiIndonesia Bonnivier]], only for it to [[EntendreFailure fly right over Hibari's head]].
* HatesReading: Mainly because he finds [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseWritingSystem kanji]] difficult; he's heavily reliant on [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseWritingSystem furigana]] (to the point where he panics if something he needs to read doesn't have it), and apparently even reading manga is a struggle for him. Once, he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nL93wRxzkg&t=6972s looked over Seraph's shoulder]] as the [[{{Bookworm}} latter]] was reading a novel because he was curious about it, only to give up and complain that the font was too small.
** His subpar grasp of kanji is put front and center during his [[https://youtu.be/zcRro40UK3E attempt at playing]] ''Kanji de GO!''. Before the game even begins, he finds that he can't read the ''instructions'' - and it only gets worse from there.
* HeadPet: [[{{Mascot}} Hibari-san]] is usually depicted as this, and physically becomes one when Hibari is in 3D.
* TheHeart: The other members of VOLTACTION have described him as the moodmaker of the group, and while he's not a natural leader like Kanato, he still supports the group in other ways.
** For example, when Akira had to cancel on the other members because an issue came up, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACR9NnLlcWc&t=103s Hibari checked in on him]] and listened to all of his worries and complaints, which Akira greatly appreciated.
** Even other livers recognize his role in VOLTACTION as this - when Seraph and Akira started [[VitriolicBestBuds bickering]] in their ''Granny Simulator'' collab, [[Characters/Nijisanji2021 Leos]] jokingly requested that someone call Hibari to iron things out.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: During VOLTACTION's ''VideoGame/LethalCompany'' collab, he refers to one of the recurring monsters as his "friend". When asked why he calls it his friend, he answered that it "seemed pretty happy when I jumped up and down for it and made a jingly noise", implying that the monster was shaking him down. Seraph points out that he really shouldn't be calling something like that his friend.
* HypnoFool: According to [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Kanda]], Hibari is apparently ''very'' easy to influence with hypnosis. Luckily for him, Kanda only gave him fairly innocuous commands like not to fall for cult scams.
* IndispensableScoundrel: While he's definitely a more [[LovableRogue idealized]] example of this trope, the group certainly relies on his thieving skills and gadgetry for certain missions.
* InformedAbility: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. Despite the whole barista thing supposedly being {{Kayfabe}}, he actually does know how to roast, grind and brew coffee if given the raw beans. Prior to VOLTACTION's taste test king off-collab, Nijisanji staff even relied on Hibari to prepare the coffee they used, though he had to do so with his nose plugged and a mask on to prevent him from having an unfair advantage.
* InsistentTerminology: Tried to make calling shotgun bolts ''shagaboru'' a thing in the lead-up to [[VideoGame/ApexLegends VSaikyo 5]], much to his teammate [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Kou]]'s irritation.
* IntangibleTheft: Steals "hearts" rather than anything material, unless it's something needed for a mission [[spoiler:or the identity documents he used to enroll in school]].
* IrislessEyeMaskOfMystery: His CoolMask's eye holes can toggle between transparent and this, likely to obscure his identity.
* KindheartedSimpleton: Although described by both himself and others as not the greatest at thinking, he makes up for it with his [[TheHeart highly empathetic nature]] and warm attitude.
* LargeHam: He's extremely gregarious, loud, outgoing, and with a definite flair for the dramatic - the last of which occasionally puts him at odds with the more pragmatic Seraph.
--> '''Seraph:''' So, what kind of disguises have you prepared this time?
--> '''Hibari:''' We're dressing up as... [[PunctuatedForEmphasis refreshing... pleasant... handsome]] [[JanitorImpersonationInfiltration janitors]]! (''[[BishieSparkle audible sparkles]]'')
--> '''Seraph:''' (''[[DeadpanSnarker flat monotone]]'') Ah. Is that so?
* LivingADoubleLife: He works as a café barista to make ends meet by day, and operates as a PhantomThief by night.
* LovableRogue: Considering he steals "hearts" as his preferred prize...
* MadnessMantra: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=871j3Lh64Js Devolves into this]] when Kanato [[DontYouDarePityMe pities]] him after [[CurbStompBattle destroying him]] in ''[[VideoGame/MarioKart8 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]''.
--> '''Hibari:''' [[ClusterFBomb Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck]]... I'll kill you I'll kill you I'll kill you I'll kill you I'll kill you I'll kill you I'll kill you...
* [[ManicPixieDreamGirl Manic Pixie Dream Boy]]: Seems to have been a [[DownplayedTrope downplayed]] and platonic version of this to a [[DefrostingIceKing defrosting]] Seraph early on in their friendship, with his enthusiasm inspiring the latter to do things outside his comfort zone and his unfettered shows of [[NoSenseOfPersonalSpace physical]] and verbal affection catching Seraph off guard and making him adorably [[NotSoStoic flustered]].
* ManlyTears: Cried on stream in response to ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'', and had to temporarily mute himself.
* ManOfAThousandVoices: He's very good at vocal impressions, and does a particularly uncanny impression of voice actor {{Creator/Showtaro Morikubo}}. Other impressions he's done include [[Characters/MetalGear1 Solid Snake]], [[{{Literature/Bakemonogatari}} Araragi]], [[{{Manga/Gintama}} Gintoki]], [[Characters/MagicKaitoKaitoKuroba Kaitou Kid]], [[Characters/AttackOnTitanLeviAckerman Levi]], [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitch Stitch]], [[Characters/OnePieceUsopp Usopp]], among others.
* MasterOfDisguise: Not quite to [[LatexPerfection Akira]]'s level as far as has been shown, but he still seems to be the go-to person for when the group needs more general disguises because of how good he is at making them.
* MasterForger: Gets tasked with making [[spoiler: replica gemstones]] good enough to act as decoys in their second voice drama - and their targets fall for them hook, line, and sinker. [[spoiler:He also forged identity documents in order to enroll at [[ElaborateUniversityHigh Erfolg College]]]].
* MasterOfUnlocking: Naturally, as part of his lore. Not even digitally locked doors or a top-of-the-line, state-of-the-art [[{{Safecracking}} safe]] stand a chance.
* MediumBlending: As it took place before he received his 3D model, Hibari was [[https://youtu.be/omVKW5GFswI?t=4160 represented in all his 2D glory]] on a old-school TV screen in order for him to appear on [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Ryushen]]'s otherwise entirely 3D birthday karaoke stream in 2023.
* MetalScream: He's [[https://youtu.be/OMweEHtoBB0?t=1778s pretty good at them]].
* NiceGuy: So incredibly nice to everyone, [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Kou]] is afraid of him. [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Nei]] describes him as someone who's far too nice to physically punch you, so he'll punch you with his [[BeautifulSingingVoice singing voice]] instead.
* NoEscapeButDown: In his 3D debut, after getting seemingly cornered by a bunch of {{Mook}}s on a rooftop, he pulls this in an [[BigEntrance incredibly badass fashion to make his on-stage entrance]].
* NoIndoorVoice: Hibari certainly is a [[https://youtu.be/In7Fnxr7wN0?t=1310 man of many decibels]], which somehow is amplified even further when he's with [[BirdsOfAFeather Kanato]]. Even when he says he'll try to talk a bit more quietly, for example during his playthroughs of plot-heavy games like ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'', he'll inevitably return to his usual volume.
* NoiselessWalker: One of his thief-like abilities. It gets some MundaneUtility when stealing bases during a baseball game in his Memories of Nostalgia voice drama.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Apparently, Hibari greeted Seraph once by straight-up grabbing the latter's stomach, much to Seraph's amusement. In the voice dramas, he's also casually walked right up to Akira to steal the glasses right off of his face. He also immediately went in for a BearHug on Akira and Seraph after the latter two agreed to help him avoid expulsion back in their school days - note that this happened ''before'' they became close. Akira unsurprisingly dodges his attempt.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: [[AmbiguousSituation Maybe]]. It turns out he [[spoiler:stole and [[MasterForger forged]] identity documents in order to enroll in the BoardingSchool that VOLTACTION attended]]. As such, [[spoiler:it's uncertain as to whether "Watarai Hibari" is really his name, or that of the person he stole the papers from]]. It could also provide an explanation as to why [[spoiler:Kanato didn't immediately recognize him as being his ChildhoodFriend]].
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler:When he's one gold "exemplary conduct" badge short of getting a bonus to his grades to avoid expulsion]] in his Memories of Nostalgia voice drama, he mulls over the idea of [[spoiler:just stealing it from someone, with his voice taking on an uncharacteristically sinister edge]]. This leads a shocked Kanato to grab him and [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan talk him out of it]].
* PartTimeHero: Resents it when Kanato insinuates that he should have picked something more thief-y as a day job in their first voice drama, retorting that he's perfectly happy with his very normal work.
--> '''Kanato:''' Rather than becoming a café employee, shouldn't you have become a [[MasterOfUnlocking locksmith]] instead?
--> '''Hibari:''' (''while picking a lock'') Tch, don't say something so cold. Working at the café is super fun... after all! (''lock unlocks'')
* PhantomThief: His nighttime occupation.
* ThePollyanna: His genmates have mentioned that they've never seen him not being cheerful.
* {{Portmanteau}}: His fandom name, Hibarista, is a combination of his name and "barista".
* TheRockStar: He certainly fits the character archetype in that he's loud, fun, and larger than life; and he musically fits the trope too given his cover song choices and propensity for band session streams. He also plays the electric guitar, and is the main vocalist of the Nijisanji band, 2-ji Datoka.
* TheRunaway: Ran away from home to enroll in BoardingSchool [[spoiler:using a stolen identity]], with the school serving as his RunawayHideaway - which, as Kanato remarks, was why he was so desperate to avoid getting expelled.
* ShareTheMalePain: He was the one who told Seraph to get checked out by a doctor when it turned out the latter was undergoing testicular torsion, as he had also experienced it in the past. Kanato [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFgjbRDhOn8 dubs them]] the ''nenten-gumi'' or [[EmbarrassingNickname Team Torsion]] as a result, which neither of them are amused by.
* SmokingIsCool: [[DiscussedTrope Discussed]]. He [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmNeyWI_A18&t=16713s smoked for a while]], but has since quit. He initially picked up the habit because he looked up to people smoking in bars, thinking they looked cool. While he liked it enough to have a favorite cigarette brand, he eventually realized that looking cool was really the ''only'' reason why he was doing it. He also noticed that smoking was starting to affect his singing voice, which gave him even more reason to quit.
* TheSneakyGuy: VOLTACTION's resident expert on infiltration.
* SuperSenses: Has heightened senses of sight and hearing in-lore.
* SupremeChef: He is one both in-lore and in real life, if the other members' comments about his delicious pasta and Sichuan mouth-watering chicken are to be believed. His culinary skills and knowledge were put on full display in VOLTACTION's CookingDuel [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMVZHO93Nk8 off-collab]] through both his cooking technique as well as his commentary. InUniverse, he's also in charge of designing CAFE Zeffiro's menu.
* TaughtByExperience: His audio engineering skills are entirely self-taught.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Kanato.
* ThroughHisStomach: While he has fed all the VOLTACTION members, he especially loves cooking for Seraph because he finds how much the latter enjoys his food [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8lEts7G_OE&t=3027s very endearing]]. It goes both ways too, with [[SweetBaker Seraph]] giving Hibari [[ShipTease in particular]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWG3sBK78NI&t=8090s homemade Valentine's Day chocolate]] prior to their debut.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Ramen. In fact, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW7Kz_PZabg&t=425s his three favorite foods]] are simply three different flavors of ramen. When trying to estimate how much Hibari would be willing to spend on a meal on average, both Akira and Seraph based their guesses on the price of a bowl of ramen - and they were ''correct''.
* TrashOfTheTitans: Hates cleaning to the point where his air purifier ''polluted'' his air after he [[https://youtu.be/6sazdfomPCE didn't bother cleaning]] his room, let alone the filter for more than a year. It's also not unusual for him to tweet about [[https://twitter.com/watarai_hibari/status/1584432172064464897 finding long-lost items]] after finally getting around to cleaning. [[BigBrotherInstinct Seraph]] is one of the few things that will motivate him to [[https://twitter.com/watarai_hibari/status/1659337396721430528 voluntarily clean his room]].
* TraumaButton: [[BookDumb Schoolwork]]. When the batsu game for VOLTACTION's summer sports battle off-collab was [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amlX72-iIRw&t=355s revealed to be a summer homework research project]], Hibari reacted by straight up calling it trauma and having an exaggerated breakdown.
* TripleShifter: Despite LivingADoubleLife much like [[Characters/NijisanjiENNoctyx certain]] [[Characters/HololiveHolostarsJapanUPROAR other]] virtual [[PhantomThief phantom thieves]], this trope is [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] in his case. CAFE Zeffiro doesn't have overtime and he only works part-time; the café manager is also [[https://youtu.be/TvuiA2G-T2M?t=7544s quite lenient]] with him when he asks for time off due to his other commitments. Of course, what also helps is that his [[BenevolentBoss boss]] is one of his best friends.
* UncattyResemblance: Following its second redesign, [[{{Mascot}} Hibari-san]] now has tufts of purple and magenta feathers that are the same colors as human Hibari's hair.
* {{Unperson}}: PlayedForLaughs, when [[BookDumb he]] gave a [[https://youtu.be/p6nQ3NDiOX0 particularly stupid answer]] on an exam.
--> '''Seraph:''' Huh? Did someone just disappear? Our precious friend?
--> '''Kanato:''' Seraph, what are you talking about? Haven't we gone over all of VOLTACTION's answers already?
--> '''Seraph:''' I see... that's right, VOLTACTION only had 3 members...
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: He ''despises'' bugs. It appears to be an actual phobia, too - he's stated that if there's a cicada on his front doorstep he will refuse to leave his house.
* TheWorkaholic: He doesn't see being busy with work as a bad thing and even enjoys it; he also takes said work very seriously. For example, after he was selected as a coach for the 2023 edition of [[VideoGame/LivePowerfulProBaseball Nijisanji Koshien]], Hibari kept sneaking onto his Switch to review his training progress in the Eikan Nine mode for the event even during a brief vacation VOLTACTION went on together.
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]], as he's quite harmless compared to other characters with the trait. However, he is ultimately still a thief, and a skilled one at that.

A former spy now working as a contractor at a small freelance agency, Room 4S.

----
* AffectionateNickname: In addition to the above, Seraph in particular refers to him as Nagi-chan, Nagira, Naginagi-chan, Nagichi, etc.
* TheAllegedBoss: He technically is Seraph's boss when the latter takes on contracts from him, however Seraph himself [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIDlHA2z_GM refuses to recognize Akira as such]], instead referring to him as a middleman.
* AlternateCharacterReading: During the VTA era, his given name was written in [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseWritingSystem kanji]] (聖来) rather than in [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseWritingSystem katakana]] (アキラ) like it is now. 聖来 is often misread as the feminine name "Seira", which Akira has used as a placeholder for a real life alias as well as the name of his AttractiveBentGender counterpart, [=SeiLa=].
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: His mother watches his streams, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip40X9zOTRc much to his embarrassment]]. As she is a YaoiFangirl, she has remarked that Akira also liking BL was probably something he inherited from her, which as Akira points out, isn't something you should be saying to your son's face.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: Delivers one to Seraph in his Memories of Nostalgia voice drama, [[spoiler:as the latter has been ordered to kill him]].
-->'''Akira:''' [[spoiler:After I take my last breath]], will you have gotten what you wanted?
* ArtEvolution: [[https://youtu.be/vewqdNHPkfw Debuted]] his [=Live2D=] 3.0 model on December 1, 2023.
* AscendedFanboy:
** He was a fan of [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Maimoto]] and [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Rikiichi]] before auditioning for VTA. He eventually got to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4dwLU6oA58 interview them both]] as guests for an episode of his radio show ''All Nagito Nippon''.
** He mentioned in his debut stream that Harada is one of his favorite BL mangaka - who he later interviewed for Da Vinci magazine.
** He's also a fan of horror novelist Nashi, and was asked to write the obi text for their novel Jiyūritsu. He later interviewed Nashi for a magazine, and was even featured as the protagonist of a short story Nashi wrote that was included in it.
* AttractiveBentGender: [=SeiLa=], the lovely proprietress of the bar Arc-en-[=SeiLa=].
* BaritoneOfStrength: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]], but he has a notably deep voice and is badass enough InUniverse to put up a decent fight against [[spoiler:[[ImplacableMan assassin-mode]] [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower Seraph]] of all people]] in his Memories of Nostalgia voice drama. While he acknowledges that [[spoiler:he can only fight defensively and it's only a matter of time before Seraph overpowers him]], he lasts a hell of a lot longer than [[spoiler:Seraph's usual targets]].
* BigDamnHeroes: In VOLTACTION's second voice drama. After a mission appears to go awry and Kanato and their client get held hostage by a group of thugs, Seraph is told to [[PutDownYourGunAndStepAway drop his weapons]], which he does only for the thugs' leader to decide to kill him first. At this, one of the hostage-takers suddenly shoots the thugs' leader, revealing himself to have been [[TheMole Akira]] [[MasterOfDisguise in disguise]] all along.
--> '''Akira:''' Betrayal? We weren't associates to begin with. Your ''actual'' associate is sleeping peacefully upstairs right now.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: He is the little guy to Seraph's big guy, as they are the shortest and tallest members of VOLTACTION respectively and the latter often technically works for him. Though since Akira's not that short and both of them are quite smart, this is [[DownplayedTrope downplayed]] compared to usual examples of the trope.
* BlindWithoutEm: After losing his glasses in a HumiliatingWager with [[Characters/Nijisanji2021 Leos]], he had to stream without them temporarily. While Akira was fine vision-wise thanks to contact lenses, his stream thumbnails from this period played on the idea of this trope.
* ButtMonkey: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]], but out of the VOLTACTION members, he tends to get the short end of the stick most often in collabs. The others also get noticeably more excited when they get a chance to bully him a little or give him a punishment.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] compared to Hibari. He actually does have a decent alcohol tolerance, he just doesn't realize when he's crossed that threshold - which is why the other VOLTACTION members have lots of stories of him throwing up everywhere and being an extraordinarily loud drunk, to the point where they [[https://youtu.be/h6Ki7co9jw0?t=2144 won't allow him to drink in public]]. Akira reluctantly admits it's all true.
* CasualKink: Openly bi and doesn't shy away from talking about subjects like sexuality, fetishes, etc.
* ChildrenForcedToKill: [[ImpliedTrope Implied]]. In his debut lore manga, a family portrait featuring Akira as a child holding a large rifle can be seen.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: [[ZigZaggingTrope Zigzagged]]. On the surface, he appears to be this towards Seraph and [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Muyu]] during their collabs. However, if [[ExhaustionInducedIdiocy the stream goes on long enough]] or if Akira gets sufficiently [[NervousWreck wound up]], the dynamics tend to reverse.
* ConsummateProfessional: When on the job at Room 4S.
* TheCoronerDothProtestTooMuch: [[ImpliedDeathThreat Threatens]] a thug with this on [[ProfessionalKiller Seraph]]'s behalf in the voice dramas:
-->'''Akira:''' Resist, and perhaps my agent's hands might just ''accidentally'' slip and slit your throat.
* CrazyPrepared: For some reason, he thought of bringing a laser gun modified into a welding machine with him on an infiltration mission in their first voice drama... [[spoiler:which certainly came in handy when they needed to [[WeldTheLock weld the door shut]] behind them in order to make a [[NoEscapeButDown rooftop escape]]]].
* CumbersomeClaws: Akira started regularly getting his nails done and decorated, and they were quite long. This made typing and playing games like ''{{VideoGame/VALORANT}}'' a struggle; his nails also made him unable to hold a knife properly during VOLTACTION's 2v2 cooking off-collab, much to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzNPmgwXX3w Seraph's distress]]. This eventually resolved once he got his stylist to clip his nails shorter.
* CuteButCacophonic: Can get very loud when [[UnsportsmanlikeGloating gassed up]], frustrated, or terrified. And when Akira starts screaming, he ''[[ScreamsLikeALittleGirl screams]]'', in a pitch [[VocalDissonance much higher]] than you'd expect from someone with such a low voice.
* CutenessProximity: This is apparently the [[https://twitter.com/Shikinagi_2434/status/1584073720691576833 main reason]] why he accepts so many animal-related missions and requests sent to Room 4S to look for lost pets.
* DistinguishingMark: The pair of moles on his neck.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Despises all kinds of shellfish with the exception of oysters.
* DoubleReverseQuadrupleAgent: [[spoiler:Turns out he was this]] during VOLTACTION's boarding school years. Seraph at first accused him of [[spoiler:being a DoubleAgent, however Akira denies this, correcting him by saying that "double" isn't enough to describe what he actually is - a ''triple'' agent, neither working for the interests of his organization, nor the party he was betraying them to, but rather his own]].
* EmbarrassingNickname: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. He is perfectly fine with most other livers and viewers calling him Shikky - but he will ''not'' let the other members of VOLTACTION call him that.
* EnragedByIdiocy: Usually triggered by [[ThoseTwoGuys Kanato and Hibari]]. At one point, he throws them out from the Room 4S office after they fool around a little too much in their audio dramas. And then there was their ''Pummel Party'' [[https://youtu.be/WkH1ify_C9g collab]]...
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Right after he introduced himself in his debut stream, he apologized... since he was about to destroy whatever cool image viewers had built up of him because of his [[BaritoneOfStrength voice]] and [[CloakAndDagger lore]] (though people who had been following him since the VTA era were unsurprised). Needless to say, he set the tone fairly quickly by sharing a BL fanfic he had written himself about vacuum machines.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: He has discussed being the target of advances from other men in real life.
* EvilLaugh: Lets out a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clRk6CwsdgE&t=1400s truly magnificent one]] during [[Characters/Nijisanji2020 VΔLZ]] and VOLTACTION's first ''Feign'' collab when he [[spoiler:wins a round as the sole surviving imposter]].
* ExhaustionInducedIdiocy: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNRHWGPXXjI 3AM Shikinagi]] is infamously unhinged, and in general he gets a little loopy if he streams longer than three hours.
* FirstFriend: To [[FriendlessBackground Seraph]], InUniverse. Even if Seraph [[spoiler:had ulterior motives or was just trying to get Akira to let his guard down in order to [[SpyCam wiretap]] him when he first suggested that they were friends]], they already looked and acted like friends at that point according to Kanato and Hibari.
* FormalCharactersUseKeigo: When he has to strictly adhere to {{Kayfabe}}, such as in official media like voice packs and the voice dramas, he almost exclusively speaks in keigo. In actual streams and collabs it's more hit or miss, though in general he does speak using noticeably more polite speech patterns than the others - including using the more formal [[ExpositoryPronoun pronoun]] ''[[UsefulNotes/JapanesePronouns watashi]]'' to refer to himself.
* GadgeteerGenius: [[ImpliedTrope Implied]]. He's known to have modified a laser gun into a welding machine; he is also seen tinkering with his [[GogglesDoSomethingUnusual glasses]] in VOLTACTION's [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FXw8lT1VQAAFHwL?format=jpg&name=large debut countdown illustration]]. Hibari even wonders if it's possible for Akira to modify his CoolMask to do the same things said glasses do in their first voice drama, though Seraph [[VitriolicBestBuds snipes]] that there's a good chance Akira might screw it up.
* GogglesDoSomethingUnusual: His glasses can project images, allow him to track the other members' movements, and serve as a communications device.
* HasAType: [[SmokingIsGlamorous Women who smoke]] and are [[StatuesqueStunner tall]], and [[LikesOlderMen older men]].
* HatesBeingAlone: He gets lonely quite easily, to the point where he sometimes lingers in voice chat into the early morning hoping people will join him. 3AM Shikinagi will also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRDhSLvHlgI incessantly message his friends]] "are you awake?" and "why aren't you responding?" [[MadnessMantra over and over again]].
* HeightAngst: [[DownplayedTrope Averted]]. While he does briefly lament being the shortest VOLTACTION member during his debut stream, it usually doesn't bother him.
* HiddenDepths:
** Is a huge fan of board games and {{Tabletop RPG}}s, and has listed the game he's spent the most hours of his life on as being ''{{TabletopGame/Catan}}''. He also closely follows [[UsefulNotes/ProfessionalGaming e-sports]], especially the [[{{VideoGame/VALORANT}} VCL]].
** Has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XT3t3EVDzE0&t=15240s admitted]] to being somewhat insecure about being known primarily as a [[YaoiFanboy BL fanboy]] and for his chatting streams (though he does enjoy making this kind of content), and has expressed gratitude to viewers that show up to watch him do and play things other than what he's best known for.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. Akira [[SelfDeprecation thought very little]] of his singing voice while he was a VTA student and wasn't even sure if he'd cover anything after he debuted. However, when VOLTACTION debuted, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU2IAyR3N2E Inlaid]]" showed that he could keep up with the others just fine in the vocals department.
* HopelessWithTech: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. He's fairly savvy but cannot wrap his head around forms of social media beyond Twitter, being completely baffled by things like [=TikTok=] and Instagram.
* HumiliatingWager: Made a wager with fellow {{Megane}} [[Characters/Nijisanji2021 Leos]] for their bout in a ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate'' tournament, with the loser having to give their glasses to the other. Unfortunately, Akira lost - with Seraph losing a violin to Leos in the following round trying to get his glasses back (Leos himself would [[SerialEscalation later lose]] [[{{Mascot}} Mameneko]] to [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Chaika]]). True to the bit, Akira's next couple of streams featured him without glasses.
* IJustWantToBeLoved: [[DiscussedTrope Discussed]] when Seraph [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs0v_PwjPqg&t=705s reflects]] on his and Akira's cover of "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90KG00GQLWA Gekkou]]".
-->'''Seraph:''' "Do you want love so much you’d resort to theft?" really is an perfect lyric. Because if we were the same people [[DarkAndTroubledPast we used to be]], I don't think anyone would have ever loved us. [...] That Shikinagi Akira guy, I think most of you already know, but that guy wants to be loved.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: During VOLTACTION's second board game off-collab, he has to explain [[ItMakesSenseInContext how an angel with regenerative powers can make money faster than a cyborg panda]]. He does so by suggesting that the angel can sell its flesh as food, much to [[AngelUnaware Seraph]]'s incredulous horror.
* InsistentTerminology: Seraph refers to himself as an "agent" solely because Akira insists that he does.
* InTouchWithHisFeminineSide: He has an open-minded approach to gender norms and expression, and is interested in more traditionally feminine things like makeup and painting his nails/nail art. He has also [[WholesomeCrossdresser crossdressed]] before, even [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymeVx66eCmc offering to help Kanato crossdress]] after the latter expressed interest in it.
* KindheartedCatLover: Prefers cats to dogs, and has taken care of his mother's cat.
* LethalChef: Kanato has said eating his cooking is more like a punishment, and prior to their debut he managed to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDur1x2oc_g&t=3795s turn eggplant into something with the appearance and consistency of an old tire]] during the time they rented a cottage together. His [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0UJy2LF-MM frighteningly cavalier approach to cooking]] is... interesting, to say the least - viewers have described watching him cook as being scarier than a horror film.
* LifeSavingEncouragement: In Room 4S' first voice drama, he snaps Seraph out of a slight HeroicBSOD triggered by the reappearance of someone from his past and his subsequent fear that he'll be tempted to [[BecauseImGoodAtIt go back]] to his past life.
-->'''Akira:''' It's the same for me, you know. They called them "missions", but truthfully, I've destroyed a lot of lives through what I've done. That reality won't disappear. It's true that by coming into contact with the underworld again, those with valuable talents like ours might get scouted back into it. But I won't ever go back. The way things are now, there are so many fun things to do, and friends to share happiness with.
-->'''Seraph:''' A-ah...
-->'''Akira:''' Don't you get it? I'm saying that I really like the way our lives are now. It might be out of character for me to say this, but from now on and into the future, I'd like to look for lost cats, exterminate beehives, among other things with you as your contractor, drink delicious coffee at CAFE Zeffiro, and keep living that sort of life. (''lighthearted sarcasm'') But technically you're not exclusively my agent, so if you want to stop doing this, that's fine too?
-->'''Seraph:''' Haha... I wouldn't want that. For me too, life is super fun right now.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: With [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Muyu]], with whom he forms the duo Spy☆Dream.
* LivingOutAChildhoodDream: According to his debut lore. He initially grew up aspiring to follow in his parents' footsteps and live the strict lifestyle of an underworld spy. However, as a child he secretly admired the entertainers he occasionally saw on variety shows late at night, and saw joining Nijisanji as a stroke of good luck and a chance to follow that childhood dream.
** In his Memories of Nostalgia voice drama, it's revealed that starting up an agency like Room 4S was also a childhood dream of his.
* LivingToys: Has a Niji-nui plush of himself that's been given a life of its own named Chibinagi. Chibinagi is apparently not very happy with Akira for keeping him tucked away in the back of a shelf, but has still joined Akira to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp6Gbm3ZH9g commentate on a stream]].
* LossOfIdentity: [[DiscussedTrope Discussed]] by Seraph when he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs0v_PwjPqg&t=575s explains why]] they chose to cover "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90KG00GQLWA Gekkou]]", the lyrics of which they found especially poignant given their InUniverse backstories.
-->'''Seraph:''' We've always been in lines of work where we become imitations of and overlap with someone else, so there was no such thing as being a completely original person for us.
* MaleFrontalNudity: The infamous [[https://youtu.be/Lwz_cckImow Mr.]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6pp-5Z_rDg Fairy]] incident. Poor Seraph was just trying to play the violin...
* ManlyTears: Admitted to tearing up a bit on stream at the climax of ''VideoGame/ItTakesTwo''. Cried even harder while playing ''DON'T SAY YES'', to the point where [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG2BRCg7U3Q&t=3540s he can be heard wiping his tears]] under his glasses and/or taking them off [[DiscretionShot during a transition screen]].
* MasochistsMeal: Challenged himself to eat [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu6KaKvSndE painfully spicy R-18 curry]] for Christmas. Then he had to eat habanero-flavored chocolates [[spoiler:as a batsu for finishing last in VOLTACTION's Valentine's Day off-collab debate tournament]], causing him to [[https://twitter.com/Shikinagi_2434/status/1625466281674809344 wonder]] why he's [[ButtMonkey doomed to suffer]] on these romantic holidays.
* MasterOfDisguise: Implied in his debut manga, where he says being one is part of a spy's job. Confirmed to be one to LatexPerfection levels in VOLTACTION's voice dramas, though Seraph teases him about his skills being a bit rusty since he's been out of practice.
* MeanBoss: PlayedForLaughs, since it is ultimately {{Kayfabe}}.
** He's been jokingly called a horrible boss by Kanato and Hibari, who blamed him for Seraph being absent for the beginning of one of VOLTACTION's ''{{VideoGame/Valheim}}'' collabs as Seraph was stated to have been busy with a mission. Hibari has also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Iz792OSgnY&t=5400s gloated]] about how much easier his job is than Seraph's with [[BenevolentBoss Kanato]] as his boss, and Seraph himself has had some [[https://youtu.be/n9wwX4J9kGM strong opinions]] about how hard Akira makes him work...
--->'''Seraph:''' Recently, there have been a lot more missions... he's taking on too many jobs, that Shikinagi Akira. I'm about to lose my mind. [...] That guy, really... he thinks my physical abilities are infinite or something. He's made me chase after a lost '''''parakeet'''''. I thought, "a ''parakeet''!?" - isn't that obviously impossible?
** In Room 4S' voice drama, he cuts his and Seraph's vacation short and forces Seraph to work off the cost of repairing the agency's circuit breaker and recovering the data lost in the power outage... despite ''[[NeverMyFault Akira]]'' bumping into Seraph while he was throwing a knife being the actual cause of the circuit breaker's destruction in the first place. Seraph's subsequent complaints that Room 4S is a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_company black company]] after all are met with a remarkably EvilLaugh.
** He [[https://twitter.com/Shikinagi_2434/status/1767825140459708420 insists]] that Room 4S is a "bright, wonderful" workplace... while also revealing that he apparently pays his employees in ''acorns''. 3 of them, to be exact.
* {{Megane}}: He wears glasses and is very attractive.
* MissionControl: He is this for Room 4S, sending Seraph out on missions while he usually stays back at the office, though he does join missions if needed. He also serves as this for VOLTACTION as a whole.
* TheMole: Fittingly for a former spy, he's revealed to have become this in VOLTACTION's second voice drama, secretly [[MuggedForDisguise knocking out]] an enemy {{Mook}} and [[LatexPerfection perfectly disguising himself]] as them. He did end up having to rough up Kanato while playing the part, but he doesn't [[WithFriendsLikeThese feel too bad]] about it.
-->'''Kanato:''' Ouch... Akira, did you have to grab me so tightly? What if you left a bruise?
-->'''Akira:''' ''(MirthlessLaughter)'' '''''Forgive me. I was just taking out years of frustration...'''''
-->'''Kanato:''' Wait, stop... even if you're just joking, you're scaring me.
* MultipleIdentityIDs: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBPulCqR9RY&t=3925s Still has]] a whole bunch of student ID cards from various universities as a holdover from [[DeepCoverAgent undercover]] missions he went on during his spy days.
* NoiselessWalker: According to the voice dramas, he apparently is this out of habit thanks to his [[CloakAndDagger former occupation]]. Not quite noiseless enough to escape [[SuperSenses Seraph]]'s notice, though.
* NotSoAboveItAll: In his round with Hibari during their Valentine's Day debate tournament off-collab, the structured and analytic approach to debating he showed in his previous round slowly eroded the longer he had to verbally spar with [[TheDitz the latter]], hilariously devolving into childish insults.
-->'''Hibari:''' Again, if I had to say one thing, this is all just your ''opinion'', isn't it?
-->'''Akira:''' '''[[BigShutUp SHUT UP, IDIOT!]]'''
* NumberTwo: Was the student council vice-president to Kanato's StudentCouncilPresident during their school years, which is reflected in his school uniform outfit. Lore-wise he more or less serves as this to him in the present day as well, during full group missions.
* OnlySaneMan: He often ends up being VOLTACTION's voice of reason, not that they always listen to him. He even has to ''[[BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine tsukkomu]]'' the hell out of [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Seraph]], who usually also shares this role, both when it's just the two of them and ''especially'' when Seraph is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCqTB0oF6Ls joined]] by [[BirdsOfAFeather Muyu]].
** He's so well-known for being this, he was even invited to a [[https://www.youtube.com/live/0q_ZHigR3U4 collab]] consisting solely of Only Sane Men from various Nijisanji units. During said collab, he mentioned that while the other three members' antics exasperate him at times, he wouldn't change their dynamic in the slightest.
* OvertOperative: As [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] in the title of his debut stream, he's oddly talkative for a former spy. Kanato also notes that he has a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y58BDokJnA&t=129s tendency to say everything he texts or types out loud]], which in reality would be a horrible habit for a spy to have.
* PeopleFallOffChairs: After Seraph (who at that point in time was still an EmotionlessBoy who had yet to fully [[DefrostingIceKing defrost]]) [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness asked him if they were friends]] for the first time during their BoardingSchool days, Akira was so shocked by it he fell right off the chair he was sitting on.
* PragmaticVillainy: In Seraph's Memories of Nostalgia voice drama, he stops Seraph from murdering an unfortunate school security guard who [[HeKnowsTooMuch saw their faces]] while they were stealing security footage and patrol patterns, instead instructing him to spray the guard with [[EasyAmnesia amnestic gas]]. Akira did this not because he had any moral qualms about killing, but rather he was irritated at [[ConsummateProfessional how it would make the job sloppy]], pointing out that the alarm a murder at a posh school would raise would make their mission a lot more difficult.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: His appearance certainly invokes this aesthetic.
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl: First heard during a ''VideoGame/{{Phasmophobia}}'' collab - when Seraph tricks him with the door jumpscare in the main lobby, [[https://youtu.be/OtSIsXHd7pw Akira lets out a high pitched scream]], much to the others’ amusement. With later collabs, it turns out that he screams like this whenever he gets worked up, which is often.
* ScrewYourself: While he's wary of being shipped with other livers out of consideration for his coworkers' level of comfort, he's stated that fanworks of him depicting selfcest are a-ok.
* SharpDressedMan: His default outfit features an opulent [[BadassLongcoat overcoat]] and a WaistcoatOfStyle.
* ShipTease:
** Most notably with Seraph, as their interactions occasionally have this implication to them in spite of his stance on shipping. His flustered reactions to Seraph being [[TheTease more affectionate]] than usual don't help.
** PlayedForLaughs with fellow YaoiFanboy [[Characters/NijisanjiFirstWave Hajime]], during a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCiUOD4nYos stream]] in which they acted out BL scenes sent in by their viewers.
** Ends up at the center of a love triangle between Chogakusei and [[Characters/Nijisanji2023 Rou]], as the latter two recurrently one-up each other over the closeness of their respective relationships with Akira.
* ShockinglyExpensiveBill: VOLTACTION went out for yakiniku for their first anniversary concert afterparty, with the last one standing in a rock-paper-scissors-off between them having to pay for all of them. Akira, being [[ButtMonkey Akira]], managed to "win" in a single round and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ftYlnUEIZQ got stuck with the bill]], which to his shock ended up being ''57,000 yen''. Kanato regrets not [[WithFriendsLikeThese running the bill up higher]].
* SinisterSpyAgency: Implied to have been part of one of these alongside his family, especially considering that said organization apparently worked with {{Professional Killer}}s like Seraph. Later confirmed in the voice dramas, as Akira described his missions as having "destroyed lives" and hated the organization so much he secretly plotted to escape from it.
* TheSmartGuy: SmartPeopleWearGlasses, after all. According to his debut lore, his parents were [[EducationMama quite strict]] with regards to his studies, and intelligence has always been his main strength. He has shown that this isn't just an InformedAttribute, as he was only just beaten out by [[GeniusBruiser Seraph]] score-wise on a exam done for VOLTACTION's half-anniversary stream, and it's noted he would have been close had he not made some careless [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseWritingSystem kanji]] mistakes.
* TalkingTheMonsterToDeath: Does this to Seraph while the latter is [[spoiler:actively trying to kill him]] in the voice dramas, imploring Seraph to [[spoiler:join him in escaping from their respective organizations]]. Seraph does his best to try to tune him out and [[RedemptionRejection reject]] what he's saying, but it eventually works.
-->'''Akira:''' [[spoiler:If you put just one more ounce of strength into that knife, I'll die]]. Simple, right?
-->'''Seraph:''' I... know that... (''knife audibly shaking'') I know that... (''voice cracking'') I know that, and yet...
-->'''Akira:''' Seraph, come with me. We can escape from here.
-->'''Seraph:''' (''knife clatters to the ground as he [[NotSoStoic starts to sob]]'') I... don't want to do this anymore.
-->'''Akira:''' Yeah... so the two of us ''won't'' do this anymore.
* TalkShow: Specializes in chatting-type streams, and hosts a regular series in radio talk show format called ''All Nagito Nippon'', a play on ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Night_Nippon All Night Nippon]]''.
* TeachersPet: Purposefully took on a lot of duties from their teachers during his school years, since as he explains to Hibari, trust and certain connections are earned through actions rather than bought. Given his [[DeepCoverAgent undercover mission]], it's very likely that Akira was actually doing this with ulterior motives in mind.
* TeamMom: While he's more of a TeamDad with VOLTACTION due to also having to be the OnlySaneMan who keeps them in line, he's this with the first generation VTA girls ([[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Muyu, Nei, Yotsuha]], and [[Characters/Nijisanji2023 Roco]]), who were the ones who gave him the nickname Nagi-mama.
* ThroughHisStomach: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWLaTWEz-EE&t=7915s During the endroll]] of his White Day 2023 baking stream, he quietly said that he hoped that Seraph - [[ShipTease specifically Seraph]] - would come over to his house the next day so that he could give him the cheesecake he made. [[https://mobile.twitter.com/SerAph_DazZ/status/1636400853379866624 And sure enough, Seraph did come by]].
* TogetherInDeath: With shades of TakingYouWithMe. 3AM Shikinagi has [[https://youtu.be/CYRbANfWUcs?t=5957 essentially told Seraph]] that if he dies, he'll make sure that Seraph dies with him. This gets a CallBack during their ''VideoGame/ItTakesTwo'' collab, only this time Seraph is the one who tells Akira that [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_eoSHwd5n4&t=11483s they should die together]].
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Indian curries, so much so that it's even been alluded to in-lore. When it came up as a point of discussion during his and Seraph's ''VideoGame/ItTakesTwo'' collab, it triggered a ''flood'' of superchats composed only of the names of curries, intended to provoke a DeliciousDistraction. Which then [[BrickJoke became a problem]] when Seraph had to [[OverlyLongGag read them all]] in his usual end of stream [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_eoSHwd5n4&t=23299s superchat reading]].
* ValentinesDayVitriol: As seen during VOLTACTION's [[https://youtu.be/2Mo6K07S7xE Valentine's Day debate off-collab]]. Though he was supposed to be a neutral commentator, Akira just couldn't hide his contempt for the holiday, aggressively agreeing with Seraph as he presented his arguments against the necessity of Valentine's Day.
-->'''Akira:''' ''(reading submitted fan letters)'' "And what are Shikinagi Akira's opinions on Valentine's Day?" No comment.
* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: Even Akira himself wonders this when he keeps managing to woo multiple female marriage candidates during his, Seraph, [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Yotsuha]], and [[Characters/Nijisanji2023 Roco]]'s ''TabletopGame/GameOfLife'' [[https://youtu.be/23tyYzXH-iQ playthrough]], despite his in-game self being an unemployed failed idol who flunked his university entrance exams twice. Even more so by the others after he successfully proposes to a ''cabinet minister in the national government'', though by this point Akira has fully embraced the idea of being a deadbeat husband.
-->'''Akira:''' (''after Satsuki accepts his proposal'') '''[[SuddenlyShouting I'M GONNA BE A LEECH!!]]'''
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: InUniverse. When a viewer tells him their 8-year-old son is a fan of his, he's understandably much more concerned than appreciative considering the [[CasualKink kind of subject matter]] his streams delve into.
* WhereEverybodyKnowsYourFlame: Briefly took a break from being a contractor to work at a gay bar. While he only worked there for three days, he had [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yyb3O4MQ5JQ quite a few stories]] to tell from the experience.
* WholesomeCrossdresser: [[https://youtu.be/KV0GRbt6jek Dabbled in crossdressing]] while in high school in real life, and while he hasn't lately, he would be open to doing it again.
* {{Yandere}}: PlayedForLaughs when playing ''[[VisualNovel/TokimekiMemorial Tokimeki Memorial Girls Side 4]]'', on [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ig3GcuxuhoA Ryota's route]]. Not only limited to his own playthrough, as his CrazyJealousGuy tendencies when it comes to Ryota [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5bm94GKLak return in full force]] when he joins [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Muyu]]'s playthrough of the same game.
* [[YaoiFangirl Yaoi Fanboy]]: Has admitted to being a fanboy of BL in his debut, right after showing off a BL fanfic ''he wrote himself.'' He has since dedicated multiple streams to discussing BL and has a [[https://twitter.com/hashtag/四季の薔薇 Twitter hashtag]] for BL that involves himself.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Early in their friendship InUniverse, he was the only one who saw Seraph for the kind, empathetic person he really was behind the emotionless assassin guise - and tells him as such [[spoiler:in an attempt to convince the latter to [[HeelFaceTurn escape the criminal underworld]] with him]]:
-->'''Akira:''' I know it hasn't been that long since we started working together face-to-face, but during this time we've been living as students, there's something I've come to understand. In a way that's so awkward I'd never expect it from [[ConsummateProfessional how you are]] during missions, you always help me with the chores that the teachers push onto me even though you don't have to - you're that sort of kind, gentle person. You probably don't realize it yourself, but you're surprisingly compassionate.
* YouAreNotAlone: He reaffirms this on behalf of the other members to a vulnerable Seraph after [[spoiler:the latter [[RedemptionRejection failed]] to convince a former colleague to follow in his footsteps and quit killing]].
-->'''Akira:''' The two of us still bear old wounds, both on our bodies and our hearts. We've lived our separate lives always having carried them alone. And now we've escaped together and have friends that we can do stupid things with - it can't get much more heartening than that. Rather than being stuck in the past, the four of us are here to live for the present and the future.
* [[YoungerThanTheyLook Younger Than They Sound]]: Due to his [[BaritoneOfStrength voice]], he often gets mistaken as being older than he is.

A mysterious former assassin now working as an freelance agent, often taking on jobs for Room 4S.

----
* AcademicAthlete: Had excellent grades, and was a starting player on his high school basketball team and part of the track and field team both in-lore and outside of it. He also played rugby in real life.
* AccentSlipUp: His character is based in [[{{Cyberspace}} virtual]] Kanto and has a MysteriousPast with his origins being a complete mystery. As such, he normally speaks generic non-identifying standard Japanese. However, he will [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRzUIBvbEh4 occasionally slip into]] what viewers have identified as being [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseDialects Kyushu dialect]].
* TheAce: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y58BDokJnA&t=85s According]] [[https://youtu.be/dPJIFJSUiGw&t=14784s to]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQHagp5xFUE&t=1448s all]] of his genmates and his senpais, he's good at ''everything'' to the point of it almost being a character flaw, with [[Characters/NijisanjiSecondWave Gaku]] and [[Characters/Nijisanji2019 Sou]] even thinking of starting a project to find ''something'' they're better than him at. He's good at studying, good at sports, a good cook, a decent artist, a good dancer, a good singer, a skilled violinist, etc. Given his [[DarkAndTroubledPast depressing lore]] and complex InUniverse characterization, the character [[{{Kayfabe}} he portrays]] is instead very much a BrokenAce.
* AcquiredPoisonImmunity:
** Apparently does have the classic version of this trope, according to [[https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZBNJ6sIeSBU an outtake]] from VOLTACTION's real-world travel vlog:
--->'''Hibari:''' That sign says "beware of bees"! Oi, quick, someone get stung by bees - [[ComedicSociopathy it'll make for good footage]]!
--->'''Seraph:''' ''Ow, it hurts!''
--->'''Hibari/Kanato:''' Ah! Seraph is - / Seraph!
--->'''Seraph:''' Actually, I'm used to this sort of thing so I'm fine.
--->'''Hibari:''' That's crazy... right, poison immunity.
** His [[TrainingFromHell training]] as an assassin also apparently included [[ElectricTorture repeated electrocution]] to the point where he's gotten used to it, which he surmises is why he can NoSell [[NoodleIncident taser shots]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-JoncUtwTM&t=4008s batsu game shocks]] even on the highest setting. Naturally, comparisons to [[Characters/HunterXHunterKilluaZoldyck Killua]] abounded in the stream chat.
--->'''Akira:''' Assassin! This guy's an assassin!
--->'''Seraph:''' I think I'm just used to electricity?
--->'''Hibari:''' Are you a '''''monster'''''? It's like this whole thing is a lie!
--->'''Kanato:''' This is a variety program, you know!
--->'''Seraph:''' I'm sorry! It's just that I've [[HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood had electric currents run through me ever since I was little]]...
** More humorously, he no longer feels any shame when doing fanservice or saying embarrassing things in batsu games due to having done plenty of both when recording voice packs.
* AlternateIdentityAmnesia: Has absolutely no recollection of [[spoiler:his younger self/Ares]] taking over his social media and channel, not even making any mention of the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL2fJ01NOik lore video/cover]] he uploaded while in that state. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], as the whole experience was framed as a FlashbackNightmare that [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Muyu]] ended up [[DreamStealer eating]].
* AngelicAbomination: If him being described as a ''shitenshi'' or [[ShapedLikeItself seraph]] is taken at face value.
* AngstWhatAngst: {{Averted|Trope}} InUniverse, and given his strict adherence to {{Kayfabe}} his usual on-stream self [[SubvertedTrope subverts]] it too on occasion. While he's still depicted with largely the same easygoing persona he has on-stream in his associated lore, the [[HisOwnWorstEnemy psychological]] [[TheAtoner fallout]] of being a fundamentally good person who was [[ForcedIntoEvil forced to kill]] ''does'' get touched upon rather than being swept under the rug.
* AnimalMotifs: Owls, specifically horned owls.
* ArtEvolution: [[https://youtu.be/xGH2EVmmnHQ Debuted]] his [=Live2D=] 3.0 model on February 13, 2024.
* TheAtoner: Heavily implied to be one in-lore, based on his debut lore manga and voice drama dialogue.
-->'''Seraph:''' It's fine... I've always been prepared to accept some form of retribution for what I've done. If I can save Kanato and the client's lives in exchange for mine, if anything I'll be satisfied.
** As his dialogue in his ''Katashiro Reflect'' episode suggests, this self-sacrificing aspect of his personality is so strong it would [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdNVNQferuI&t=4075s linger]] even if he had [[spoiler:complete IdentityAmnesia]].
--->'''Seraph:''' [[spoiler:I don't really remember why]]... but if I had to die for the sake of someone else... I don't think I would fight it.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. He's the youngest of the group, but is quite level-headed... [[NotSoAboveItAll usually]]. That being said, he has acknowledged that he acts more childish when he's with the other members than when alone, and the others do tend to dote on him as their youngest, especially [[BigBrotherInstinct Hibari]].
* BackstoryHorror: While nowadays he's entertaining people and doing silly things like every other Nijisanji affiliated liver, as [[Characters/Nijisanji2019 Ange]] and [[Characters/NijisanjiGamers Himawari]]'s [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AADXTqiRR8Y genuinely frightened reactions]] upon discovering his InUniverse [[ProfessionalKiller backstory]] attest to, that doesn't change the fact that he used to kill people for a living.
* BadBoss: Initially plays up the whole "[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_company black company]]" schtick to the hilt in his ''VideoGame/Pikmin4'' playthrough, openly admitting that he pays his Pikmin less than minimum wage and saying that he only allows Oatchi to sleep for two hours, among other stereotypical horrible boss behaviors. This however waned as the playthrough went on and he [[{{Tsundere}} begrudgingly]] became [[CutenessProximity more attached to the Pikmin and Oatchi]].
* BecauseImGoodAtIt: When someone he knew from his former job suddenly appears and threatens to disrupt his current life in the voice dramas, he wants to avoid getting involved at first - because he's afraid of succumbing to this mentality and lapsing back into old habits as a result.
-->'''Seraph:''' Because there's a chance I might get pulled back into that world, isn't there? I was pretty accomplished as an assassin. It's not like I abandoned the job because I couldn't fulfill a contract. If I end up thinking that maybe it would be better if I continued the family business... I might get lured back into it. I was brought up in that household to do that sort of thing ever since I was little. I say that I've washed my hands of it - but really, there's no erasing that sort of past.
* BeforeMyTime: Tends to inflict massive amounts of psychic damage on his older senpais like [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Yashiro]] and his viewers because of this trope - for example, by admitting that he actually had no idea what a [=GameCube=] looked like before coming across one as a treasure in ''VideoGame/Pikmin4''.
* BespectacledCutie: In his [[https://images.microcms-assets.io/assets/5694fd90407444338a64d654e407cc0e/035e2ea0dd1d49ad9996ef702fdd3ff8/セラフ・ダズルガーデン_長袖シャツ_ゆるツイストショート_眼鏡あり_通常立ち絵.png fourth 2D outfit]], the concept of which was specifically to depict him as "the boy next door who always catches your eye at the bookstore". Though since his eyesight is perfectly fine, the glasses are purely cosmetic.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He might be a bit [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} out there]], but that doesn't make him any less deadly.
* BigDamnHeroes: Shows up just in time to [[BlastingItOutOfTheirHands throw a well-placed knife]] at a gun-wielding {{Mook}} in order to save Kanato and Hibari from getting shot in VOLTACTION's first voice drama.
* BigEater: He eats a lot according to the other members and isn't picky. During a VOLTACTION off-collab to see [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uero8t9-sWI&t=460s who could eat the most plates of soba]], Seraph nearly ''doubled'' everyone else's number of plates. Despite this, he apparently has [[NeverGetsFat trouble keeping on weight]] rather than the other way around.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: He is the big guy to Akira's little guy, as they are the tallest and shortest members of VOLTACTION respectively and the latter is often technically his superior as his contractor, as much as he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIDlHA2z_GM doesn't want to acknowledge that fact]]. Though since Akira's not that short and both of them are quite smart, this is [[DownplayedTrope downplayed]] compared to usual examples of the trope.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: His moral compass seems to be slightly ''off'' based on his [[SkewedPriorities reactions]] to certain things or [[DissonantSerenity lack thereof]], whether it's because of his [[ChildrenForcedToKill upbringing]] or [[AngelicAbomination something else]]. However, he can usually catch when he says something incompatible with normal morality... albeit often uncomfortably late.
* {{Bookworm}}: He is quite well-read, carries a book in his bag at all times, and apparently has a years-long backlog of novels on his reading list. He'll still occasionally ask for recommendations from viewers, and has dedicated [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7KVFb-MRKc entire streams]] to literary analysis.
* BornLucky: [[https://twitter.com/SerAph_DazZ/status/1660999888577114114 According]] to Seraph, [[SelfDeprecation his only virtues]] are his [[TheBigGuy physicality]] and being ''ridiculously'' lucky.
** In his, [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Yotsuha]], [[Characters/Nijisanji2023 Roco]], and Akira's ''VideoGame/MarioPartySuperstars'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEoUSq37D64 collab]], he ends up hitting ''five'' hidden bonus blocks in one game, more than the other three combined.
** While playing ''VideoGame/PineappleOnPizza'', he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_msPJeiiWXM&t=3275s finds]] the [[spoiler:person hanging off a cliff with a witch spinning a WheelOfDecisions to determine their fate]]. Rarely, the [[spoiler:wheel lands on a gold star, which leads to the person becoming the canonical SoleSurvivor of the island's destruction]]. Of course, Seraph nails the 1 in 9 chance the very first time he encounters the event.
** After [[HatesReading Hibari]] gives up on trying to interpret the instructions for a module during a ''VideoGame/KeepTalkingAndNobodyExplodes'' collab with no time left, he tells Seraph to just press the button at whatever timing he liked - and Seraph [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIY6HRc6krk&t=5374s pulls off a miracle]]. Later, Seraph presses a different button than the one Hibari instructs him to, only for his "misclick" to end up being the actual correct button.
** The drop rate of a Spire Armor Trim Smithing Template in ''{{VideoGame/Minecraft}}'' is 6.7%. This apparently doesn't apply to Seraph, who [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_EMYLhWKSw&t=4624s managed to find]] 4 in 10 chests, much to the progressive disbelief of both his viewers and [[Characters/NijisanjiKorea Seffyna]] (who was watching the stream and commenting in his chat).
--->'''Seraph:''' Seffyna-san... come to the JP server... the path to treasure is here.
** The gacha gods love him, with him pulling rares in ''VideoGame/HatsuneMikuColorfulStage'', ''Mahjong Soul'', and ''{{VideoGame/Arknights}}'' in a remarkably few number of pulls, much to the ire of his viewers.
** Initially appeared to be played straight during an [[https://youtu.be/Qdql-Ce13Xg off-collab]] VOLTACTION did in which they played various games to determine which one of them was the "luckiest", only to be beautifully [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] in the end: going into the final game Seraph had nearly double the points of second place, with the last game being an ''omikuji'' draw. Hibari and Seraph picked the same ''omikuji'' card, with Seraph losing the ensuing rock-paper-scissors-off and having to pick a different card. In yet another stroke of luck, his "consolation" card ended up giving him an extra 5 points, whereas the one he and Hibari fought over turned out to be a very bad luck card that subtracted 3 points from Hibari's score. After Hibari points out that there's [[CurbStompBattle no way]] they can ever beat Seraph like this, they re-do the draw, and this time [[spoiler:Seraph draws a "bad luck from hell" card that subtracts so many points from his score, he's simply labeled "loser" during the final count. He's understandably sulky about this.]]
* BreadEggsMilkSquick: Has an odd tendency to segue into saying absolutely terrifying things with little warning and the same [[DissonantSerenity nonchalance]] as talking about the weather. It's all just {{Kayfabe}}... [[PlausibleDeniability probably]].
** During VOLTACTION's school-themed half-anniversary stream, one exam question was to complete the following Japanese idiom: "In the past, I cut _____". None of them knew the answer; one by one the others' more silly guesses were revealed, until Seraph's was shown: [[SlashedThroat Throats]].[[labelnote:Explanation]]In Japanese, "昔取った_____". The correct answer was "杵柄", with the idiom meaning to use ones' past experience. Seraph's answer was "首", "昔取った首" meaning either the throats I've slit in the past or the heads I've hunted in the past depending on context. Yumeoi remarks that he's not necessarily wrong, as slitting throats/head hunting ''was'' his past experience.[[/labelnote]] Cue [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Yumeoi]] immediately pulling up his official profile to explain to the horrified first-time viewers.
* BringingRunningShoesToACarChase: In real life, he's managed to [[https://youtu.be/CpQiZk8x-cE?t=14313 catch up to someone on a bicycle]] and [[https://youtu.be/0aagdnyeqDA?t=1445 someone on a motor scooter]] on foot.
* CantDefaultToMurder: Genuinely [[ThouShaltNotKill doesn't want to take any more lives]], but still has to remind himself of this trope at times. Gets PlayedForLaughs when he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsiROcbfDVQ&t=805s describes]] how waiting in the hospital in extreme pain watching less overtly sick people get seen before him drove him ''very'' close to [[CuteAndPsycho homicide]].
-->'''Seraph:''' I thought to myself, let me pass you! I'm on the verge of life and death here! [...] I really was thinking... you... you... that vulnerable... that vulnerable-looking throat of yours, '''''why don't I do something about that'''''... but then I remembered I shouldn't kill people, so I held back and kept waiting.
* CerebusSyndrome: Whenever his InUniverse past is PlayedForDrama rather than [[BlackComedy laughs]] and/or [[BreadEggsMilkSquick shock value]]. He's been given some unusually [[DeathSeeker heavy]] [[TheAtoner characterization]] even in official media.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: TrainingFromHell has given him nigh-superhuman [[MadeOfIron durability]] and [[SuperReflexes agility]] in-lore.
* ClassicalMusicIsCool: He occasionally recommends performances for viewers to listen to on Twitter.
* CloseRangeCombatant: He is just as proficient at hand-to-hand combat and martial arts in real life as he is in-lore, and showed off his skills in spectacular fashion during his 3D debut with an [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEufBMGf6UU&t=2000s absurdly badass and well-choreographed fight scene]] lifted straight from an action film.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Though [[BookSmart intelligent]] and outwardly calm, he is known for ''sekizui'' (reflexive) or ''noushi'' (brain dead) commentary, where he more or less says what's on his mind without really processing it. And given that his lines of thought can be utterly ''bizarre'', this tends to result in InsaneTrollLogic and a lot of {{Cloudcuckoolanguage}}, with some of the things he says not making any sense even to him.
* CombatPragmatist: Has practiced ''jissen'' karate (karate intended for actual combat) since he was little, both InUniverse and in real life. He notes that while normal karate rules disallow things like elbow strikes and punches to the face, no such thing applies to a real fight - instead, he was taught to pull hair, break fingers, [[EyeScream gouge out eyes]], or do whatever else it takes to get the upper hand.
* ComedicSociopathy: Displays an inordinate amount of glee when messing with his friends during collabs, even when - ''especially'' when - causing their deaths in-game, with absolutely zero remorse for doing so. He also finds their suffering and in-game deaths amusing even when he's not the one causing it.
** After tricking Akira [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoNwRWRKi6I&t=5755s into summoning the ghost]] in ''{{VideoGame/Phasmophobia}}'':
--->'''Seraph:''' I asked him to light the candles in the pentagram. I told him, "I wonder what would happen?".\
'''Hibari:''' And what happened?\
'''Seraph:''' He died! ♡\
'''Hibari:''' (''[[ActuallyPrettyFunny laughing]]'') "He died" - do you really think cutely saying "he died" will convince us to forgive you?
* ConditionedToAcceptHorror: Considering his {{Kayfabe}} is that he's a former ProfessionalKiller who has probably seen or even done worse, he unsurprisingly isn't bothered by violence or [[{{Gorn}} gore]].
** During the infamous scene in ''{{VideoGame/Outlast}}'' in which [[spoiler:Trager amputates two of Miles' fingers]], his only reaction is an [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLLqSH-7KJE&t=2030s incredibly deadpan "that must hurt"]] (TW: gore), followed by [[DissonantSerenity casually noting]] that the slipperiness of blood makes it helpful when trying to escape from restraints. His wording implies that he knows this from [[NoodleIncident personal experience]].
** While playing ''VideoGame/NightSecurity'', after [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzjyX4nQ11E&t=2448s coming across the cleaning lady]] on the sixth floor standing in a massive amount of blood:
--->'''Seraph:''' [[DissonantSerenity It's past midnight, so you can probably go home, you know]]. Ah, but it's [[SkewedPriorities hard to go home when there's still this much of a mess]]. Did you know that they sell a liquid that breaks down proteins at drugstores? If you use that, it cleans things off quite well. Especially if the blood is freshly spilt, the stains will be gone in an instant. Why not give it a try?
* ConsummateLiar: Lies about as easily as he breathes. Though they're often BlatantLies or intended to [[TheGadfly troll]] his friends and so this is usually PlayedForLaughs, he's also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQBm-GSGM-M&t=9644s stated]] that all he does is lie, his entire existence is a lie, and the person he appears to be is just an illusion. At the time, his tone made it seem like just another joke or a cheeky nod to the [[{{Kayfabe}} nature]] of [=VTubing=], but [[CerebusRetcon given that it immediately preceded]] a [[https://virtualyoutuber.fandom.com/wiki/Seraph_Dazzlegarden#BAD_DREAM lore arc]] that revealed the [[BrokenBird kind of person]] he used to be, or perhaps [[BeneathTheMask still is]]...
-->'''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQBm-GSGM-M&t=9750s Seraph]]:''' [[TheStinger You shouldn't believe a word I say.]]
* ContinuityNod: Quite a few in reference to his previous identity as VTA student Misono Satoshi.
** His surname is a [[ThisIsMyNameOnForeign calque]] of the kanji from Misono.[[labelnote:Explanation]]Misono is spelled '美園'. '美' means beauty, which is a close synonym for dazzle, and '園' means garden.[[/labelnote]]
** The initials 'STS' and 'MSN' are incorporated into his [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FXysxeRVsAMbpYp?format=jpg&name=large current outfit]].
** His official profile notes that he frequently [[MultipleIdentityIDs switches names and identities]], which is likely a reference to his rebrand in addition to being a piece of lore.
* CreepyGood: VOLTACTION works to make people happy, after all. That being said, it hasn't been all that long since he's been a contract killer, references to which still slip out of him [[BreadEggsMilkSquick from time to time]].
* {{Cuckoosnarker}}: While a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} par excellence, he's still perfectly capable of biting snark and often serves as the ''[[BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine tsukkomi]]'' to even wackier livers - for example, whenever he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95kyF2SmSio interacts]] with [[Characters/Nijisanji2020 VΔLZ]].
* CuteOwl: His {{Mascot}} Mimizuku-san is a [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F0bdGOGacAI99Pj?format=jpg&name=large very round, fluffy, pink horned owl]].
* CuteAndPsycho: He's usually gentle and laid-back, which makes the occasional moments when he gets oddly methodical about violence and murder all the more unsettling.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: From the occasional insights he's given into it, the vast majority of Seraph's life in-lore has been abjectly miserable: being [[{{Tykebomb}} raised]] as a cold-blooded killer and then [[ForcedIntoEvil forced into murdering people]] [[TraumaCongaLine repeatedly]], getting [[ColdBloodedTorture tortured]] as part of his [[TrainingFromHell training]] and while on the job, being kept imprisoned by his own family, and feeling so [[FriendlessBackground alone]] he believed he would die without ever being loved.
-->'''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdNVNQferuI&t=3011s Seraph]]:''' I don't think I have any good memories aside from the ones I've made with my friends.
* DeathSeeker: In his in-lore portrayal, Seraph is shown to view his death as [[KarmicDeath retribution]] for [[TheAtoner what he's done]] and thus has little regard for the value of his own life. He even [[spoiler:[[SelfSacrificeScheme deliberately engineers a situation]] where he can sacrifice his life for Kanato and their client]] in VOLTACTION's second voice drama.
** It has since been revealed that this isn't new for him, as he was even more of one when he was still working as an assassin. After [[spoiler:the first twelve hits of a thirteen target contract went off without a hitch]], he lamented that "[[WhamLine yet again, I'll still be alive at the end of all this]]" - implying both that it was intended to be a SuicideMission, and that it wasn't the first time he tried to get himself killed [[SuicideByCop this way]].
* DefrostingIceKing: InUniverse. He used to be aloof with an absolutely [[EmotionlessBoy frigid]] demeanor. When he and Akira first met face-to-face as partners for a long-term mission, he curtly told Akira that he had no interest in being buddy-buddy with him or anyone else for that matter. That obviously did not last.
* DeviousDaggers: His weapons of choice.
* DissonantSerenity: Usually sounds calm, even when he's stabbing {{Mooks}}, staring down the barrel of a gun, shrugging off a JumpScare in a horror game, or saying something disturbing. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] in-lore, as he explains that his former profession required him to [[EmotionSuppression maintain tight control over his emotions]].
* DuetBonding: With [[Characters/Nijisanji2019 Eli]]. After Seraph uploaded a [[https://twitter.com/SerAph_DazZ/status/1630435420453629955 violin cover of François-Joseph Gossec's Gavotte in D major]], Eli proceeded to turn it into a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNjHstV17-4 flute and violin duet]]. This lead to some heartwarming interactions both [[https://twitter.com/Eli_Conifer/status/1630558640259362816 on Twitter]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjS6LviI2eo&t=1125s on-stream]] - including a promise to perform together live at some point.
* ElegantClassicalMusician: He's a classically trained violinist who has been playing since he was 5, and from his anecdotes, technical skill, and insider knowledge it's fairly evident that he played at a very high level. He has talked about winning competitions, performing with orchestras and ensembles, and playing internationally, including concert tours in Europe. Given his repertoire, he mainly plays classical pieces when playing violin on stream, which seems to invoke this trope based on viewers' reactions.
* EmotionlessBoy: Was this in-lore before befriending his genmates, likely due to EmotionSuppression. Akira even had to lecture him about how his complete inability to emote (for example, showing no reaction whatsoever to a joke that made all their classmates howl with laughter) might blow his cover.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: According to his [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FXysuoKUIAIMb_y?format=jpg&name=large reference sheet]] and [[spoiler:Ares' appearance]], his hair color is naturally black; he presumably first dyed it to its more familiar pink-blond around the time he started attending the boarding school where he first met his genmates.
* ExtremeDoormat: He's been described by himself and others as an ''iiyo bot'' or "that's fine" bot, because he's ''really'' bad at saying no to people. Even when complaining about Akira giving him too many missions he notes that he could have turned any of them down, he just didn't want to.
* ExtremeOmnivore: By his own admission, his palate is so unrefined that he thinks most things he eats are delicious and can't tell whether something's supposed to taste bad or not. He has willingly eaten things that were supposed to be eaten as punishments, and according to Hibari, he actually stayed behind to [[BigEater eat the leftover plates of soba]] after VOLTACTION's wanko soba off-collab - despite being well aware that they were laced with things like [[BlazingInfernoHellfireSauce scorpion pepper hot sauce]].
* FaceOfAThug: He has mentioned that during his school years people tended to avoid him because of his [[JapaneseDelinquents appearance]] and his eyes' default [[DeathGlare look]] back then. In real life, [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Muyu]] has also remarked that [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1hL_L2MXWA she thought he was scary at first]] because of his [[OneHeadTaller height]] and sullen resting expression.
* {{Fanboy}}: He is one of ''{{Manga/Bleach}}'', to the point of becoming a MotorMouth whenever he gets a chance to gush about it. He also admires violinist Furusawa Iwao, whose playing style he tries to emulate.
* FlashbackNightmare: How his April Fool's Day 2023 [[https://virtualyoutuber.fandom.com/wiki/Seraph_Dazzlegarden#BAD_DREAM lore arc]] was framed, capped by a lore video/cover of "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL2fJ01NOik Bad Dream]]". After [[HeadacheOfDoom going to sleep early with a headache]], he was suddenly replaced by [[spoiler:his past self, Ares]]. His Twitter feed then became a real-time replay of his inner monologue set during and after [[spoiler:a multi-target assassination he carried out in the past]], which culminated in a [[SanitySlippage mental breakdown]] that tied directly into the cover. [[https://twitter.com/Muyu_Amagase/status/1641998791112003584 Thanks]] to [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Muyu]] [[DreamStealer eating]] this nightmare, Seraph woke up [[AlternateIdentityAmnesia acting as if nothing happened]].
* ForcedIntoEvil: As he plainly states in his debut voice pack, he wasn't an assassin by choice.
-->'''Seraph:''' I'll only say this here, but up until recently, I lived as an assassin. It'll be our secret... Don't look so nervous just because I said I used to be an assassin! It's not like I... did it because I wanted to. It was just... the family business.
* TheGadfly: Often screws around with and pranks other people during collabs, especially [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtSIsXHd7pw in horror games]] and ''{{VideoGame/Minecraft}}''. His viewers aren't safe from his teasing either.
* GeniusBruiser: By ''far'' the most dangerous and physically imposing member of VOLTACTION even in real life, and also arguably the most BookSmart. He [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej-qAFmaXfo&t=6700s did the best]] out of the four of them on a surprise (or in other words, no studying) exam during their half-anniversary stream, including scoring a perfect 100% in math, 98% in science, and the highest in the group in English.
* [[{{Ghostwriter}} Ghost Violinist]]: The professional-quality excerpt of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQQsn0-6gNE&t=665s Jules Massenet's Méditation from Thaïs]] that [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Salome]] was obviously and hilariously [[ThatSyncingFeeling not really playing]] in her 3D debut was actually [[https://twitter.com/SerAph_DazZ/status/1692540314068922570 performed by Seraph]] at Salome's request for the bit.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Whenever he streams in "[[https://images.microcms-assets.io/assets/5694fd90407444338a64d654e407cc0e/d024da765e494ebdb3f568a8889ab936/liver-full-body_Seraph_Dazzlegarden_costume2.png?w=800&fm=png work mode]]"; thanks to his [[InTheHood hood being up]], his [[FaceFramedInShadow face is also framed in shadow]], making him look significantly more menacing than he usually does. If his eyes are glowing in any other circumstance, it's usually not good news for anyone who sees him in that state.
* GoodFeelsGood: His current job [[TheWorkaholic keeps him busy]], but he likes it because clients' smiles make him happy.
* HeavenVersusHell: The symbolism associated with him, [[AmbiguouslyHuman allegedly]] an angel, beating up the demon [[Characters/NijisanjiENLuxiem Vox]] with a frying pan during the [[VideoGame/PlayerUnknownsBattlegrounds KZHCUP]] was [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G88gl32F_0k not lost on viewers]].
* HiddenDepths:
** He is very knowledgeable in mathematics as well as other STEM fields, and has done a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah4H8cktI3Q stream]] in which he challenged himself to solve a certain number of math problems. He also happens to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxzaxRzaLag know a suspicious amount of information]] about the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_Institute_of_Technology Tokyo Institute of Technology]] and goes there often enough to use his commute as a reference to pinpoint a location on its campus in ''[=GeoGuessr=]''...
** Lore-wise, it's apparent that [[BeneathTheMask behind his outwardly carefree and easygoing persona]] is someone dealing with a significant degree of emotional turmoil over his horrendously DarkAndTroubledPast.
* HiddenWeapons: [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FXysxeRVsAMbpYp?format=jpg&name=large Has a whole bunch of knives and needles hidden throughout his outfit]], including some [[SinisterSwitchblade switchblades]] and blades [[ArsenalAttire hidden in his rings]]. Even his violin necklace has a [[RetractableWeapon retractable needle]] in it.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: His bangs hang over his left eye, and he's certainly [[MysteriousPast mysterious]].
* HisOwnWorstEnemy: InUniverse, his self-loathing over his [[SympatheticMurderer past]] runs so deep that it's [[DeathSeeker self-destructive]].
** Akira [[InnocentlyInsensitive unintentionally]] highlights this with an ArmorPiercingQuestion in VOLTACTION's second voice drama, when the topic of [[BadPowersGoodPeople using skills from their former professions]] comes up. The silence and delayed answer that follows implies that Seraph doesn't quite share Akira's idealism about it.
--->'''Akira:''' In any case, if I can still use these skills to be of help in a good way, there's no reason to throw them away. Isn't it the same for you too, Seraph?\
'''Seraph:''' ...\
'''Akira:''' Well, there's no use in idle chit-chat. Let's go.\
'''Seraph:''' (''quietly'') ... I guess it is.
* HitmanWithAHeart: His in-lore [[SympatheticMurderer backstory]]. Being repeatedly coerced into carrying out assassinations by his family [[MurderMakesYouCrazy took its toll on him]], and he eventually quit altogether alongside Akira. He now uses his skills for good as part of VOLTACTION and for Room 4S, though the [[TheAtoner guilt]] remains.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: With [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Nei]] in their [=NijiQuiz=] appearance, as he's OneHeadTaller than her.
Because if we were the same people we used to be, I don't think anyone would have ever loved us. It might be a bit strange to say, but... if we were the same people we were in the past, probably... especially [[DarkAndTroubledPast me]]... back then I thought it was likely that I would die without having ever loved anyone or been loved by anyone.
* ImplacableMan: Back when he was an assassin - as illustrated by the trail of corpses in his debut lore and the DramaticChaseOpening of his Memories of Nostalgia voice drama, if he wanted someone dead, they ''will'' die. Even getting stabbed only barely slows him down if he's not hit anywhere vital.
-->'''Seraph:''' Even though you knew trying to run was pointless... (''sound of knife cutting through flesh, blood splatter'')
* {{Improv}}: Has shown the ability to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWG1SEAZ2-M free improvise songs]] off-the-cuff when playing violin on stream.
* InappropriateHunger: Has stated that gory video games make him ''hungry''. As such, his playthrough of the very [[{{Gorn}} gory]] game ''{{VideoGame/Outlast}}'' features several hilariously inappropriately timed snack breaks, for example after [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLLqSH-7KJE&t=1157s finding a room full of dismembered bodies]] or during a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLLqSH-7KJE&t=2127s scripted torture scene]] (TW: gore).
* InTheHood: Puts his hood up along with pulling up his neckwarmer to cover the lower half of his face on missions in order to hide his identity. His hood is also up when he streams in "work mode".
* ISurrenderSuckers: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEufBMGf6UU&t=2080s Pulls this]] while running an urgent mission for Akira during his 3D debut. He gets caught at gunpoint, appearing to raise his arms in surrender... only to turn around, twist his assailant off-balance and send him across the room with a flying kick to the face. In BulletTime, no less.
* KillerRabbit: He's a [[RoseHairedSweetie pink-haired]] {{Bishonen}} who is a SweetBaker and a bit of a {{Cloudcuckoolander}}, and is described variably by his genmates as being gentle and cute. He also happens to be one of the few livers who is explicitly confirmed and ''shown'' to be a murderer, and an accomplished one at that.
* KindheartedCatLover: Absolutely adores cats, and once [[https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Ve1H1KEr4Q4 almost picked a fight with a viewer]] when they insinuated that one wasn't cute. The only reason he doesn't own one himself is that he's [[TheWorkaholic far too busy with work]] to give one the attention it needs.
* LeaveNoWitnesses: Early in their boarding school mission, his initial reaction when a security guard caught him and Akira stealing security data was to [[MurderIsTheBestSolution kill him]]. While Akira had [[PragmaticVillainy no moral objections]] to killing, he figured that a dead body being found at a school for elites would raise enough questions to put their mission in jeopardy, and Seraph is reluctantly [[CantDefaultToMurder convinced to put the knife away]].
* LikeBrotherAndSister: Has this dynamic with [[Characters/Nijisanji2022 Nei]], who has referred to him as her "[[PrecisionFStrike fucking]] cheeky little brother". Likewise, Seraph has called her his "scary older sister".
* LivingEmotionalCrutch:
** [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]], but he is Kanato's panic button whenever he gets too scared in a horror game. Kanato has admitted that he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoG0Agi0yeg&t=913s instinctively wants to ask Seraph to keep him company]] when this happens, which sometimes [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j459OFFUZg&t=1735s works]] but sometimes doesn't because Seraph is streaming himself.
** He is this for Akira too, when the latter is feeling particularly [[HatesBeingAlone lonely]] late at night. It's routine for Akira [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa3XhararUo to call Seraph every once in a while]] when the loneliness really gets to him, and when he does Seraph listens to all of the former's complaints (though he [[NotListeningToMeAreYou doesn't really remember]] any of the things he says) before suggesting they play ''{{VideoGame/VALORANT}}'' together.
* LockedInAFreezer: When he gets fixated on the idea of killing the stalker in order to [[spoiler:avenge Hasaku]] in ''VideoGame/TheClosingShift'', he wonders if he can do this to him with the café's freezer. As he explains [[BreadEggsMilkSquick unprompted]] and [[NightmareFuelStationAttendant entirely nonchalantly]], it's one of his [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOVcaLsIzXQ&t=7116s preferred killing methods]] for various reasons, seemingly based on [[NoodleIncident prior experience]].
-->'''Seraph:''' You see, if you freeze someone to death, it preserves [[HumanResources samples that you can harvest]], and on top of that, the victim doesn't bleed. It's when they bleed that [[DisposingOfABody things]] become the most bothersome.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: In [[https://images.microcms-assets.io/assets/5694fd90407444338a64d654e407cc0e/5051c8dbd80d4de1af25f8e5d39b16ce/liver-full-body_Seraph_Dazzlegarden_costume4.png his third 2D outfit]]. In a ContinuityNod to his [[spoiler:past self]], he offhandedly mentions that his hair used to be a similar length once.
* LossOfIdentity: [[DiscussedTrope Discussed]] by Seraph when he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs0v_PwjPqg&t=575s explains why]] he and Akira chose to cover "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90KG00GQLWA Gekkou]]", the lyrics of which they found especially poignant given their InUniverse backstories.
-->'''Seraph:''' We've always been in lines of work where we become imitations of and overlap with someone else, so there was no such thing as being a completely original person for us. Since we were often in disguise for the sake of our missions, how do I say this... there were times in the past where I'd think that I'm just a fake. Like, moments where I'd think "[[CallBack my life isn't really mine]]".
* MadeOfIron: Being a former assassin, his pain tolerance is very high. He's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsiROcbfDVQ&t=550s described]] [[NoodleIncident being stabbed in muscle]] as stinging a bit but ultimately a minor inconvenience, and compares being electrocuted to a soft, feather-light touch. Even in real life, [[{{Determinator}} he's played violin concerts with a dislocated finger, played basketball games with a broken wrist, and ran 1500 meter trials on a sprained ankle]].
* MasterOfDisguise: Unsurprisingly is one, given his previous occupation and his many cover identities.
* MedicationTampering: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0qpKeOBbFE&t=9446s Suggests this method of murder]] when giving the killer some advice while playing ''YONESAWARA HOSPITAL'', and [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial may or may not]] have assassinated people in this way before.
-->'''Seraph:''' If it were me... [[FreudianSlip I mean not me]], the culprit wanted to kill someone without directly getting their hands dirty, I'd suggest forging a medical license and intentionally giving them the wrong medication. Or mixing small amounts of poison in with their medicine over time, which is least likely to leave behind evidence - since it'd be difficult to trace who exactly did it. That method is a bit labor-intensive, though. [...] [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial I've never done anything like that before... not exactly, anyway]].
* MellowFellow: Arguably one of his defining personality traits. There aren't many things that make him lose his composure, and it takes a lot for him to mald at a video game. Even when he was stuck for more than an hour on a problem in ''Q REMASTERED'', his biggest complaint was that it was delaying his dinner.
* MistakenNationality: Because his name is in English and Nijisanji EN's [[Characters/NijisanjiENILUNA ILUNA]] debuted around the same time as VOLTACTION, [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Ritsuki]] mistakes him for an EN-affiliated liver when they first meet in ''{{VideoGame/Minecraft}}'', attempting to chat with him exclusively in English at first until he corrects her.
* MultipleIdentityIDs: Though not an assassin anymore, he still [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDbsUFPBi5g&t=3320s uses different false identities for different purposes]], and has both Japanese and foreign identities - including "Seraph Dazzlegarden" [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname itself]].
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: During an advice stream, he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0eVOkwBbI4&t=85s casually suggests]] that viewers simply kill or torture the person bothering them in their concerns multiple times, complete with [[TooMuchInformation suspiciously lengthy and detailed instructions]] on how to do so. Each time, he [[BlueAndOrangeMorality eventually realizes]] that other people CantDefaultToMurder and instead gives more reasonable advice.
* MysteriousPast: As per his official profile, there's not much that's definitively known about him amidst [[ConsummateLiar all the lies]] from the many [[MultipleIdentityIDs false names and identities]] he has adopted while working as an assassin through to the present. The little that has been revealed about his past thus far has [[DarkAndTroubledPast not been pleasant]].
* NervesOfSteel: Utterly unflappable in general, and in keeping with his [[ConditionedToAcceptHorror lore]], he's remarkably [[ImmuneToJumpScares unfazed by horror games]]. When horror games do get a reaction from him, it's usually either [[NightmareFetishist fascination]], [[ShutUpScaryThing annoyance]], or DullSurprise. Genuinely compliment him, [[NotSoStoic however]]...
* NeverBringAGunToAKnifeFight: Often takes on gun-wielding enemies armed only with knives, and just as frequently [[CurbStompBattle mops the floor]] with them. What helps is that he has the requisite SuperReflexes to dodge or [[ParryingBullets deflect]] bullets even point blank, and is deadly accurate [[FlechetteStorm at range]] with his knives too.
* NeverGetsDrunk: During a alcohol tasting competition off-collab organized by [[Characters/Nijisanji2023 Rika]], [[Characters/Nijisanji2021 Oliver]] shocks the other participants by [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FznsDAwxg78&t=3765s revealing]] that Seraph wasn't just tasting but ''downing the entire bottles and cans of alcohol he was being given'', all while showing no signs of inebriation. Oliver notes that this was business as usual for Seraph, probably with [[AcquiredPoisonImmunity good reason]].
-->'''Oliver:''' This is just Seraph's drinking pace! Not even poison affects this guy!
* NightmareFetishist: And ''how''. He loves horror games, and there's a reason why viewers sometimes say Seraph himself is the scariest part of his playthroughs.
** His [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLreOS2Rg94 first reaction]] upon seeing a twisted corpse in ''YONESAWARA HOSPITAL'' is exclaiming "it's so beautiful", which he immediately notes is [[LampshadeHanging kind of messed up]]. It doesn't stop him from continuing to admire it though, while apologizing to his viewers for freaking them out by doing so.
** On multiple occasions, he has described Yamamura Sadako (the primary antagonist of the ''Literature/TheRing'' franchise) as being "cute", "lovely", and having a cute laugh, especially as she appears in ''Ring 2''. He has also called monsters in ''{{VideoGame/Phasmophobia}}'', ''MASAGORO'', and ''[=HugeHead=]'' "cute" - in fact, it's probably more rare that Seraph ''doesn't'' think a monstrosity featured in a work in the horror genre is cute.
** His [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJK7ELHokcs&t=4307s favorite Pikmin]] in the [[VideoGame/{{Pikmin}} eponymous franchise]] is the [[PoisonousPerson white Pikmin]] - because he ''loves'' poison. He also gets oddly [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfx12AKC8No&t=1865s excited by the use of arsenic]] in ''VideoGame/TheWitchsHouse'', happily noting how wonderful it is that it's an odorless and flavorless poison, bringing up a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masumi_Hayashi_(murderer) famous murder case]] in Japan involving it, and emphasizing that it's not just a good rat killer, it's also a good people killer.
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: While usually quite [[MellowFellow mellow]], given how well he sticks to his {{Kayfabe}} of being an ex-killer-for-hire, he's unsurprisingly and unintentionally creepy at times - for example, when he starts casually talking about murder [[TooMuchInformation in loving detail]] without realizing how much it terrifies his viewers.
* TheNightOwl: [[AnimalMotifs Fittingly so]]. His sleeping schedule is notoriously screwed up, to the point where he's tweeted "good morning" at the same time the other members of VOLTACTION have tweeted "good night".
* NoodleIncident: Comes with having a MysteriousPast. Occasionally he'll allude to something shockingly violent that he's experienced and not elaborate further, sometimes [[BreadEggsMilkSquick in the middle of normal commentary]].
-->'''Seraph:''' I get it though. Tear gas really does hurt when you get sprayed with it.\
'''[[Characters/Nijisanji2021 Leos]]:''' ''[[LampshadeHanging You've been hit with tear gas before!?]]''
* NoSocialSkills: Used to be entirely inept at human interaction. In fact, in his first real conversation with Kanato and Hibari InUniverse, he asked them how people made friends, as Akira had advised him to try to do so in order to better masquerade as a normal student.
* NotSoStoic: His usual relaxed and composed demeanor ''evaporates'' the moment he has to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayctpKSnWwc act out a love confession]] in VOLTACTION's first off-collab, leaving him an uncharacteristically whiny, hyperventilating mess - much to the amusement of his genmates. Genuine affection also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0eVOkwBbI4&t=647s throws him for a loop]].
* OddNameOut: The only 2022 main branch debutant with a fully foreign name. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], as it's an [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname alias]].
* OminousOwl: [[{{Mascot}} Mimizuku-san]] is often depicted with its EyesAlwaysShut. While it's usually a very CuteOwl when shown this way, when its eyes are open, they're wide, [[EmptyEyes empty]], and fixed in a ThousandYardStare, leading to some viewers finding it to be closer to this trope.
* OneManArmy: Shown in flashback to have [[ImplacableMan left a bunch of bodies in his wake]] on his way to a target in his debut lore, and [[spoiler:in the past successfully completed a contract to assassinate thirteen people by himself in one night]]. He also gets tasked with taking care of a politician's entire security detail in VOLTACTION's first voice drama, and even then Kanato remarks that that's probably too easy for him.
* OneSteveLimit: [[DiscussedTrope Discussed]] and ultimately [[AvertedTrope averted]]. When he and [[Characters/NijisanjiKorea Na Sera]] are together, they're referred to as Serasera. And since one of Seraph's nicknames is Sera, they ''both'' call each other "Sera-san". They [[LampshadeHanging note]] how confusing this is in an ''VideoGame/ARKSurvivalEvolved'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrUQlCOOHEE collab]], but opt not to change things.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: "Seraph Dazzlegarden" is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEl3nAy5iTw&t=4265s not his real name]]. Nor is it "Misono Satoshi" or [[spoiler:"Ares"]]. His real name, if he even has one, has yet to be revealed.
-->'''[[Characters/Nijisanji2020 Chigusa]]:''' Seraph Dazzlegarden... your name is in English, so that's why [[SugarWiki/SurprisinglyGoodForeignLanguage it's so good]], right?\
'''Seraph:''' (''laughing'') Just because it's in English doesn't mean I can speak it well. Not like it's actually my name, in any case.\
'''Chigusa:''' Eh? Seraph Dazzlegarden ''isn't'' your name!?\
'''Seraph:''' About names... the thing is, [[IHaveManyNames I have a]] [[MultipleIdentityIDs lot of them]].
* OrWasItADream: In terrifying fashion when [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svm9r25JMzs&t=6665s asked if he's had a nightmare that he still remembers]]:
-->'''Seraph:''' I was captured and tortured, and eventually woke up after being shot in the shoulder. I still remember that dream because there was a terrible, stinging pain in my shoulder afterwards... (''{{Beat}}'') Well, that might not have been a dream.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: [[MaybeMagicMaybeMundane Maybe]]. He has referred to himself as a ''shitenshi'' or seraph, but due to [[ConsummateLiar certain]] [[MysteriousPast factors]] it's quite ambiguous as to whether he means it in a literal sense. In any case, he has no wings and cannot fly, something he wishes Akira would remember when assigning him missions.
* ThePenIsMightier: Cheerfully reminds viewers that pens have [[ImprobableWeaponUser purposes other than writing]] when talking about the one in the shirt pocket of his school uniform outfit... and to not think about the [[OnceKilledAManWithANoodleImplement implications]] of that too much.
* PersonOfMassConstruction: He has already developed a reputation of being one of the most talented builders on the Nijisanji JP ''{{VideoGame/Minecraft}}'' server among the newer livers, with other livers like [[Characters/NijisanjiSeeds Belmond]] even visiting his builds for inspiration. His absurdly massive MagicalLibrary and trick tower in particular have become regular highlights when livers tour the JP server.
* {{Portmanteau}}: His fanbase name, Serazuku, is a combination of his name and ''mimizuku'', or [[AnimalMotifs horned owl]].
* PositiveFriendInfluence: While he kept working as an assassin for quite some time even after befriending them, the other members of VOLTACTION are implied to be this to him. In his debut lore, he mentions that things "changed when [he] met them", and he has referred to their boarding school years together as the "turning point" when he stopped being [[AxCrazy blatantly murderous]].
* PrecisionFStrike: Delivers one in English courtesy of his EN and KR senpais [[CorruptTheCutie being less than wholesome]] during his welcome tour of the Nijisanji EN ''{{VideoGame/Minecraft}}'' server:
-->'''Seraph:''' What do you mean by "fucking cheater"?
* ProfessionalKiller: His previous occupation.
* ReallySeventeenYearsOld: He would have been a school year behind the other VOLTACTION members (Kanato was born early enough to enroll with Hibari and Akira), but he faked his age when he was admitted to the boarding school where they met in-lore. They all ended up [[AlwaysInClassOne in the same class]] as a result.
* RealMenWearPink: He is probably the most athletic and physically fit member of VOLTACTION as well as their primary enforcer lore-wise, but he also loves [[SweetBaker baking]] and making sweets.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: If his eyes are [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glowing]] and [[EyeColourChange uniformly red]] rather than the usual [[TechnicolorEyes tricolor]], ''run''.
* RevealingSkill: To Akira's irritation, he initially did a terrible job of hiding his near-superhuman physical capabilities when they first went undercover as normal students at their BoardingSchool, performing feats like casually leaping from the second floor and running far too fast compared to their peers in gym class.
* RoseHairedSweetie: Although it is dyed, his hair color is officially pink-blond - which is often even more pink in official art DependingOnTheArtist - and he's sweet and even-tempered most of the time. Key word being most, because when he's [[CuteAndPsycho not]] he can veer into PsychoPink territory.
* SdrawkcabAlias: "Seraph" likely is one, as [[spoiler:his former codename Ares backwards is "Sera"]]. Some viewers have even speculated that [[spoiler:it might be "Seraph" backwards]] in a roundabout way.[[labelnote:Explanation]]Ares is sometimes stylized with a preceding hyphen, which ''could'' be seen as a minus sign. "Minus" or "negative" in Japanese is 負 - read as ''fu''. Thus, "-Ares" backwards can be read as "Serafu", which is how "Seraph" is pronounced in Japanese.[[/labelnote]]
* SelfSacrificeScheme: [[spoiler:Attempted only for him to change his mind at the last second]] in VOLTACTION's second voice drama, with the relevant track even being titled "Sacrifice". Kanato realizes this when Akira notes that Seraph [[spoiler:went way off script from their original plan, and would have actually been shot had he waited even a moment later to signal to Akira]]. This earns Seraph a DopeSlap and a lecture.
-->'''Kanato:''' Seraph, your life isn't unimportant! Don't just do things where you [[spoiler:plan to throw it away]], understand?\
'''Seraph:''' [[SilenceOfSadness ...]]\
'''Kanato:''' Seraph... answer me.\
'''Seraph:''' (''[[TearfulSmile laughing while on the verge of tears]]'') Right, I understand. I'll be more careful from now on.
* SenselessViolins: While he's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziwaX_MDzqY&t=2236s never actually used a violin]] to [[InstrumentOfMurder murder someone]] before, he certainly finds violin cases useful for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFiFNS3Wl9o&t=2808s hiding various... things]].
* ShipTease: His playful [[TheTease teasing]] and interactions with Akira sometimes cross over into this territory, which tends to make the latter quite flustered and confused when it does.
* SkewedPriorities: As a former killer, he'll often give critiques or advice on how to better kill or [[DisposingOfABody dispose of bodies]] to the antagonists of the horror games he plays rather than being scared of them. He also tends to disregard disturbing plot points in favor of pointing out things like unhygienic toilets, an apartment owner leaving a plate of donuts uncovered, and characters not wiping their nose.
* {{Sleepyhead}}: Even taking his [[TheNightOwl night owl]] tendencies into account. Seraph lists sleeping as a hobby and can fall asleep anywhere - he's even gone so far as to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rt1itLcqh08&t=9310s bring a blanket and pillow to school]] in order to sleep comfortably in the ''middle of class''. It's such a prominent trait of his that it's even been incorporated into his in-lore portrayal, with him entering a scene in the voice dramas by falling from an odd place he'd fallen asleep in with a loud thunk.
* SoftSpokenSadist: Even when engaging in ComedicSociopathy, he never deviates from his soft way of speaking. More seriously, in assassin-mode he was this in spades to his targets, [[spoiler:Akira included]], speaking to them in a venomous, almost CreepyMonotone. [[spoiler:Him gradually [[NotSoStoic losing his composure]] during his and Akira's fight is a sign that the latter's attempt at TalkingTheMonsterToDeath is working]].
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Nowadays his personality is [[CuteAndPsycho mostly]] [[RoseHairedSweetie sugar]], but he was depicted as having this during VOLTACTION's BoardingSchool days after he started [[DefrostingIceKing defrosting]] following his [[spoiler:fateful confrontation with Akira]]. Probably best illustrated by his interactions with Hibari, who had a knack for breaking right through his defenses and bringing out a softer, more bashful side to him.
* SuperReflexes: Casually [[ParryingBullets uses a knife to deflect a bullet]] from hitting Kanato in their second voice drama. He is later actually shown dodging and parrying bullets even at point blank range on-screen during a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEufBMGf6UU&t=2000s fight sequence]] in his 3D debut, and can apparently enter BulletTime.
-->'''Kanato:''' Hahaha, sorry, sorry... and thanks. Wait a minute - [[LampshadeHanging you can block a bullet with a knife]]!? That's incredible!
* SupremeChef: So much so that in VOLTACTION's CookingDuel [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMVZHO93Nk8 off-collab]], he made a decent chef out of [[LethalChef Akira]] and [[spoiler:carried them to victory]], even with a surprise handicap of having to improvise an extra pasta dish in addition to finishing their assigned dishes within his allotted 15 minutes. The seafood paella [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M13_PeI7vTU&t=746s he made]] for the other members during their short vacation also received rave reviews.
* [[SugarWiki/SurprisinglyGoodForeignLanguage Surprisingly Good English]]: While too self-conscious of his accent to speak it very often, his vocabulary and ability to read and write it is quite good, with him even translating the game for [[Characters/Nijisanji2021 Leos]] during their ''Granny Simulator'' collab. He is one of two VOLTACTION members (alongside Kanato) who are fine with and make an effort to interact with people commenting on their streams in English.
* SweetBaker: He's an [[SupremeChef excellent cook]] in general, but especially so when it comes to making desserts and sweets like ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagashi wagashi]]'' or chocolate. He has made [[https://twitter.com/SerAph_DazZ/status/1625100222161653760 orangettes and gâteau opéra-inspired chocolates]] that looked pretty enough to be professionally made and [[https://twitter.com/Shikinagi_2434/status/1625483258925580291 tasted absolutely delicious]] according to the other VOLTACTION members. He's even been [[https://twitter.com/VOLTACTION_info/status/1640322785473089542 officially referred to as a patissier]].
* TarotMotifs: Represents [[UsefulNotes/TarotCards The Magician]] in Nijisanji's [[https://twitter.com/nijisanji_app/status/1619893290614067200 official]] ThemedTarotDeck.
* TechnicolorEyes: [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FXsgG4EUcAE39VT?format=jpg Looking closely]], his eyes are actually three different colors: dark blue, red, and gold. According to his [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FXysuoKUIAIMb_y?format=jpg&name=large reference sheet]], the colors are intended to be reminiscent of a setting sun.
* TheseGlovesAreMadeForKillin: [[ImpliedTrope Implied]] in [[NoodleIncident classic Seraph fashion]], as part of his [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhDdP5qIIxg&t=614s school uniform outfit]]:
-->'''Seraph:''' So these leather gloves... right, well, obviously in the winter I wore them often because it was cold, but sometimes I wore them during the summer too. As for why I wore them then... [[YouDoNotWantToKnow I don't think you want to hear the answer]].
* TheseHandsHaveKilled: Almost invoked word-for-word in Room 4S' first voice drama, when he [[spoiler:opens up to his former colleague in an attempt to get them to leave a life of killing behind, just like he did]].
-->'''Seraph:''' [[spoiler:Just like you]], I've taken plenty of lives with these hands. No matter how many times I beg for forgiveness, it's not something I can ever be forgiven for. Even now, even right at this very moment, I haven't forgotten the weight of my sins. But I have no choice but to clench my teeth and keep living, for the sake of those who are willing to stay by my side.
* ThouShaltNotKill: He would much rather make people smile than kill again, and only takes out {{Mooks}} non-lethally during missions. Whenever the topic of his former occupation comes up, he's quite insistent that he does ''not'' carry out assassinations anymore. [[ComedicSociopathy Note that this does not apply to in-game murder]].
* TokenWholesome: His usual ComedicSociopathy notwithstanding, he was this during a collab with [[Characters/NijisanjiENNoctyx Alban]], [[Characters/NijisanjiKorea Suha]], [[Characters/NijisanjiKorea Nagi]] and [[Characters/NijisanjiENNoctyx Uki]] as they toured the Nijisanji EN ''{{VideoGame/Minecraft}}'' server together. Seraph was clearly [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSQdG73KLjM bemused]] by all the sussy and ''yabai'' things he saw and heard but refused to take part himself - even when [[ReallyGetsAround Suha]] started flirting with him too - and took issue with Nagi calling "all" of them perverts.
* TookALevelInCheerfulness: The contrast between how [[BrokenBird broken]] [[spoiler:Ares]] was and how carefree present-day Seraph is is jarring, to say the least. Despite some [[CuteAndPsycho lingering darkness to his personality]] and [[HisOwnWorstEnemy unresolved emotional baggage]], he's clearly much happier now after leaving his former profession.
* TookALevelInKindness: Went from being a [[ImplacableMan ruthless killer]] to the gentle and easygoing person he is now.
* TooMuchInformation: The general reaction from viewers and other livers when he lets slip information or offers advice that's [[BreadEggsMilkSquick terrifying]] and/or [[UnwantedAssistance useless]] to anyone who doesn't kill for a living.
-->'''Seraph:''' (''laughing while reading comments'') "What a horrifying bit of information" - [[SureLetsGoWithThat right]], think of what I said as [[BlatantLies just a very, very scary bit of trivia]].
* TortureIsIneffective: How apt this trope is given his {{Kayfabe}} aside, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEBbKgW44fc he's been given a separate batsu]] in an off-collab because none of the usual punishments bother him. He has thus far been shown to NoSell electric shocks, being repeatedly spanked with a harisen, eating [[BlazingInfernoHellfireSauce scorpion pepper hot sauce]], and drinking extremely bitter tea. Even saying embarrassing or fanservice-y lines no longer causes psychic damage. Nijisanji staff are apparently at a loss as to what to do with him for batsus in variety content.
* {{Tykebomb}}: Raised for the purpose of [[ChildrenForcedToKill killing other people from a young age]] as per his official profile.
* UncattyResemblance: [[{{Mascot}} Mimizuku-san]] has [[AmazingTechnicolorWildlife pink]] plumage that's the same shade as his [[RoseHairedSweetie hair]], and horns that look like his red highlights.
* VocalDissonance: Has a cute, boyish voice and a soft, "fluffy" way of speaking, which viewers in his debut stream found surprising considering his [[TheBigGuy stature]] and [[DarkerAndEdgier dark, violent lore]]. Nowadays his viewers consider the contrast between his voice and the [[CuteAndPsycho horrifying things]] he says on occasion part of his charm.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Takes out a group of {{Mook}}s that were chasing Hibari before they even know what's happening in TheStinger of the latter's 3D debut. While it can be inferred that he didn't kill them considering his usual [[ThouShaltNotKill reticence]] to do so, they're never seen or mentioned again.
* WordSaladHumor: One way his {{Cloudcuckoolander}} tendencies manifest. What he says doesn't always make the most sense, and his tweets can be similarly nonsensical if not [[{{Cloudcuckoolanguage}} entirely unintelligible]] at times.
* TheWorkaholic: His genmates have called his work schedule "disgusting". In addition, Room 4S' motto is to "undertake any request", which means he's also often very overworked InUniverse. In real life, this tends to [[RealLifeWritesThePlot manifest]] as him explaining away absences from streaming as being due to missions.
* {{Yandere}}: Occasionally acts according to the archetype. It's usually intended to be PlayedForLaughs, but Seraph being [[CuteAndPsycho Seraph]], it just as often provokes fear in viewers instead.

Introduced as an "alternate persona" Seraph adopted for April Fool's Day in 2023, in actuality he and Seraph are one and the same, with Ares being Seraph from a time when he was actively working as an assassin. Nevertheless, he is markedly different from his future self, enough to warrant a separate entry.

----
* ThirteenIsUnlucky: Introduced by accepting a contract to assassinate thirteen people [[OneManArmy by himself]].
* AmbiguousTimePeriod: While he appears to be a younger Seraph, the actual point in time in his past that he represents is uncertain. Even after Seraph began to outwardly acknowledge his existence, he's referred to as "Seraph from a couple of years ago".
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: He gets hit with one after retorting that [[AndThenWhat nothing would change]] if he quit killing.
-->'''???:''' But you're suffering, aren't you?
* AxCrazy: When Seraph said that he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhDdP5qIIxg&t=540s used to be much more violent]] and unstable, ''he wasn't kidding''.
* BlackSpeech: The description for the lore video/cover of "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL2fJ01NOik Bad Dream]]" he sang as Ares contains some ''mojibake'' or corrupted text, likely to emphasize the horror of the whole [[FlashbackNightmare scenario]] that lead up to its upload. [[spoiler:When the text is run through a converter that restores ''mojibake'', it's revealed that it translates to "もう嫌だ", or "I don't want to do this anymore".]]
* BrokenBird: Before he TookALevelInCheerfulness and became the Seraph we now know. As evidenced by his inner monologue, being forced into a life of assassination and killing against his will [[TraumaCongaLine over and over again]] left Ares [[JadeColoredGlasses bitter]], [[SanitySlippage unstable]], [[DeathSeeker self-destructive]], and utterly ''exhausted''.
-->'''Ares:''' I'm so tired...\
'''Ares:''' How long do I have to keep doing something like this?\
'''Ares:''' [...] If I go to sleep, maybe I'll be able to forget, even just a little.
* CombatHaircomb: As his hair is quite long, he occasionally used his weapons as hairpins to tie it up according to his [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fsmx9ooaAAAstmw?format=jpg&name=large reference sheet]]. He later used a needle to tie it into a PrimAndProperBun in the illustration for his and Seraph's violin duet of Bach's [[https://youtu.be/14sfFjTjWtc Concerto for 2 Violins]]' first movement.
* ConsummateProfessional: Shown to be a frighteningly efficient killer, taking out all thirteen of his targets within the span of four hours; he even comments that he usually completes contracts without any delays. He's also completely professional if coldly polite when communicating with the people who contracted him, even when the rest of his inner monologue betrays his emotional turmoil.
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: When they're not [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glowing]] [[RedEyesTakeWarning red]], it can be seen that he has a very familiar pair of TechnicolorEyes. But unlike Seraph's, Ares' eyes are [[EmptyEyes empty]] and lifeless, lacking reflections and pupils.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: A near textbook example of this trope.
* ElegantClassicalMusician: Seraph's been playing the violin since he was little, after all.
* {{Foil}}: Combined with CynicIdealistDuo and HairContrastDuo. While Ares is an embittered, aloof dark-haired BrokenBird wearing [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver black and red]], Seraph is a playful, laid-back pink-haired {{Cloudcuckoolander}} with a vivid color palette. What's unusual about all this is that they are ostensibly the [[TwoAliasesOneCharacter same person]].
* ForegoneConclusion: Obviously, since he is a younger version of his current self. Despite his [[SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids insistence on it being impossible]], he evidently does end up escaping his situation [[EarnYourHappyEnding eventually]].
* FutureSelfReveal: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]].
* GottaKillEmAll: Gets contracted to kill thirteen targets in the setting of the FlashbackNightmare he first appears in. Assuming his monologue was in real time, it takes him ''less than two and a half hours'' to [[OffscreenMomentOfAwesome kill the first eleven]]. It takes him considerably longer to pick off the last two, but he eventually gets it done without any problems, much to his [[DeathSeeker dismay]].
* GreyRainOfDepression: Depicted in and associated with the rain, and [[HopeIsScary does not take it well]] when told in the midst of his SanitySlippage that "there's no such thing as rain that never ends". Gets a poignant CallBack in a later stream when his present-day self remarked that [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNz1tqQpwN0&t=5076s he does indeed hate that saying]], since it's easy to say but is absolutely meaningless to those in the midst of suffering.
* GuiltComplex: To the point of becoming a MartyrWithoutACause. It's implied that part of the reason why he insisted on [[IWorkAlone working alone]] and felt obligated to keep carrying out hits despite how much he hated it was because if he didn't, someone else would - and he would rather be the only person who had to bear the guilt. It's suggested that this guilt is something that [[TheAtoner still affects him]] in the present.
-->'''Ares:''' No... If I don't do this...\
'''Ares:''' I should be the only one who carries this burden. I don't want anyone else to...\
[...]\
'''???:''' Wouldn't it be fine if you stopped all of this? [...]\
'''Ares:''' [...] Shut up. Then who else is going to do it?
* HairstyleInertia: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] since their hairstyles and colors are for the most part [[ExpositoryHairstyleChange very different]], but Ares can still be identified by Seraph's characteristic red highlights.
* HiddenWeapons: Interestingly, his [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fsmx9ooaAAAstmw?format=jpg&name=large arsenal]] is much less extensive than his present-day counterpart's. Notably, the knife Ares keeps strapped behind his back is the same exact knife that Seraph [[ContinuityNod currently keeps strapped behind his back]].
* IWorkAlone: Insists that no, he alone will suffice to complete the contract.
* JadeColoredGlasses: As a result of having long since crossed the DespairEventHorizon. Any attempt to convince him to hope that a life outside of assassination work was possible fell on deaf ears.
-->'''???:''' There's surely a happier way to live.\
'''Ares:''' And clinging to that belief, how many times do you think I've fallen into despair?
* KnightOfCerebus: A strange non-antagonist example, considering he ''is'' Seraph. However, he is the end result of Seraph's InUniverse backstory being played entirely for [[PlayedForDrama drama]] and [[PlayedForHorror horror]].
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: He is a younger [[{{Bishonen}} Seraph]] with long hair, after all.
* MeaningfulName: Ares is certainly an [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast apt moniker]] for a OneManArmy. Other than being the Greek god of war, "-Ares" also can be read as "Seraph" backwards as noted above under SdrawkcabAlias.
* MoodWhiplash:
** Out of universe. Seraph was one of the few Nijisanji livers who went full on suspense/horror instead of doing something silly for April Fool's Day in 2023. As such, those who followed other livers in addition to Seraph had their goofy hijinks interspersed with Ares' extremely unsettling narrative.
** Given how [[{{Foil}} different]] they are, the switches from Seraph to Ares and back caused this. Ares' takeover was abrupt, with Seraph's message before that being a normal good night [[HeadacheOfDoom except that he was going to sleep early because he had a headache]]. Him reverting back after waking up was just as sudden, with a [[TalkingTheMonsterToDeath cornered]] Ares' death threat being followed up by Seraph cutely begging Hibari for food.
* MurderMakesYouCrazy: Present-day Seraph has mentioned in passing that he was apparently deeply [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0PmQPVxDas&t=5756s mentally unwell]] while actively working as an assassin. With Ares' appearance it's finally seen first-hand how badly being forced to take lives [[SanitySlippage affected his mental state]].
* NotAfraidToDie: [[AvertedTrope Averted]], much to his displeasure. It's implied that he resented this instinctive fear of death for keeping him from actually dying on contracts [[DeathSeeker he intended not to come back from]].
-->'''Ares:''' I'm afraid to die after all... how pathetic.
* NothingIsScarier: While Ares was in control, Seraph's profile, description, and even his location were completely erased, and his profile pictures and headers were all replaced by black images. Turning up the brightness and saturation on these images however, would reveal a familiar face with dimly [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glowing]] [[RedEyesTakeWarning red]] eyes and a large amount of [[BloodyHorror sprayed and splattered blood]]...
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: One of the first indications that Ares had replaced the usual Seraph in his first appearance was his [[ConsummateProfessional ice-cold professionalism]]. As the night went on it became apparent that Ares lacked all of the [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} sillier]] [[TheGadfly personality]] [[ComedicSociopathy traits]] that give his future self his levity.
* PersonalHorror: If the fact that he's the subject of a FlashbackNightmare is any indication, he appears to be an embodiment of this for his current self.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: To a [[TragicVillain certain value of evil]], anyway. Ares is depicted with Seraph's natural black hair, which combined with his red highlights, eerily [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glowing]] [[RedEyesTakeWarning red eyes]], and the [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fsmx7yUaYAIOKLz?format=jpg&name=large red-lined coat and pitch-black outfit]] he wore back then, certainly [[InvokedTrope invokes]] this trope.
* RedemptionRejection: ''Violently'' rejects any notion of abandoning his work as an assassin, with some of the reasons being [[SafetyInIndifference learned helplessness]] from one HopeSpot [[DespairEventHorizon too many]] and a [[GuiltComplex sense of obligation]] to those that would have to kill in his stead. Luckily, him quitting at some point is a ForegoneConclusion.
* SanitySlippage: While clearly [[MurderMakesYouCrazy already slipping]] leading up to it, Ares seems to have a full-blown psychotic break towards the end of the [[https://virtualyoutuber.fandom.com/wiki/Seraph_Dazzlegarden#BAD_DREAM lore arc]] he was introduced in. It's left [[AmbiguousSituation vague]] as to whether he's arguing with [[TalkingToThemself himself]] or hallucinating someone else, but either way it's evident that he's not mentally stable.
* ShooOutTheClowns: An odd case in that he essentially shooed ''himself'' out. The twelve hours in which he had control over Seraph's social media and channel were entirely devoid of lightheartedness.
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: The trigger for his SanitySlippage appears to have been [[AmbiguousSituation another, more idealistic side of himself or some hopeful imagined entity]] trying to convince him that he could leave his life of killing behind and actually be happy for once. Ares attempts to tell them to [[BigShutUp shut up]] and refutes their arguments at every turn, but eventually [[TalkingTheMonsterToDeath is so rattled by it]] he resorts to threatening to kill them.
-->'''???:''' A day will come where you'll be able to smile.\
'''Ares:''' [[BigShutUp Be quiet!]] Or should I make it so that you end up like the people I just killed?
* SlaveCollar: Wears one. Considering the fact that he's also been depicted in what appears to be a prison cell, it leaves some unpleasant implications as to how he was treated by his family.
* SympatheticMurderer: Even after he's described to have slaughtered thirteen people, it's hard not to want to give him a hug when it's made clear in the aftermath that ItNeverGetsAnyEasier for him, and that the compounding guilt over all the lives he's been forced to take has thoroughly and meticulously [[BreakTheCutie broken him]].
* TragicVillain: In contrast to [[GoodFeelsGood how Seraph feels]] about his current job, Ares' inner monologue shows just how much he [[BeingEvilSucks hated every minute]] of his previous one. What kept him in the business of assassination seems to have been [[ForcedIntoEvil coercion]] by his [[TheFamilyThatSlaysTogether family]] and a massive, self-sacrificing GuiltComplex.
* VagueAge: By virtue of being from an AmbiguousTimePeriod relative to the present day. He does seem to be slightly shorter than his current self when comparing their reference sheets, but no indications as to his exact age are given otherwise.
* WalkingSpoiler: His very existence has major implications for Seraph's InUniverse characterization.
