Darkness's friend and a thief. She's the one who taught Kazuma the infamous "Steal" skill.
----
* ACupAngst: She's quite upset that her small bust tends to get her mistaken for a boy.
* AdaptationDyeJob: Her blue-gray eyes from the light novel were changed to purple eyes in the anime.
* BadLiar: She is really bad at keeping secrets considering how many of them she has. Her denials tend to only make her look more suspicious too.
* BareMidriffsAreFeminine: {{Inverted}}. Chris wears a skimpy crop top that reveals her midriff, but she behaves like an outgoing tomboy. As Eris, she dresses more modestly while acting more feminine than her thief persona.
* BerserkButton: Demons and the undead. Merely mentioning that one might be nearby is enough to send her flying into an [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness uncharacteristic fury]].
* BlemishedBeauty: She's a very cute girl bearing a large scar on her right cheek.
* BornLucky: As the goddess of fortune's secret alter ego, she's the only one who's beaten Kazuma at rock-paper-scissors. One of the side stories reveals that her luck is so high that her [[BrokeTheRatingScale adventurer's card glitches out when it tries to display its value]]. [[ZigZagged Not that she was ever lucky at preventing Kazuma from stealing her panties...]]
* BoyishShortHair: Because of her boyish figure and short hair, many mistake her for a guy.
* TheBusCameBack: She returns (as Chris) in Volume 6 of the light novel, although she'd been present as Eris in the prior volumes.
* ButtMonkey: Gets sexually harasssed by Kazuma almost every time they meet, whether it be him stealing her panties, or groping her due to thinking she's an enemy.
* FantasticRacism: Being a goddess, she hates devils and undead.
* FirstFriend: To Darkness. Before she joined Kazuma's party, Eris answered Darkness' prayer to make friends by befriending her as Chris.
* GenderBlenderName: She calls herself "Chris", which is a name often associated with boys.
* GladHesOnOurSide: She thinks this of Kazuma after he near effortlessly goes through half the royal guards and curbstomps Mitsurugi.
* GodInHumanForm: She's Eris in disguise as a human.
* GodWasMyCopilot: She's been spending less time in the human world because of Aqua's responsibilities being given to her as Eris.
* HairColorSpoiler: Chris and Eris are the only characters with silver hair. This is a clue to putting together that Chris is Eris' disguise.
* HeIsNotMyBoyfriend: She tries very hard to deny that she and Kazuma are in any kind of special relationship. Though the way she goes about the denials makes it hard to believe her. It doesn't help that her only response to Megumin grilling her about it is to run away after she can't handle the interrogation.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Megumin thinks this of her because of her [[VanHelsingHateCrimes "extermination without exception"]] rules for devils and undead, yet she still hasn't figured out Wiz and Vanir's true nature. But she might turn out to be right about [[spoiler:Dust]].
* InSeriesNickname: Kazuma calls her "Big Boss" and she calls Kazuma "Assistant-kun" while they are on their heists. {{Justified|Trope}}, since they can't call each other by name without risking exposing themselves.
* JustLikeRobinHood: When doing divine treasure hunting, she takes the opportunity to steal from bad nobles and donate what she stole to the Eris Church and the poor.
* KleptomaniacHero: Chris likes her some treasure. Seeing a bunch of it makes her "thief blood boil."
* LadyLooksLikeADude: Many people confuse her gender, especially when she's in her "chivalrous thief" disguise, much to her chagrin.
* LittleMissConArtist: She's a young girl working as a thief. Her specialization is stealth.
* LittleMissSnarker: She's not an outright snarker as Kazuma is, but she has her moments. Mostly [[SnarkToSnarkCombat displays it towards Kazuma]].
* LovableRogue: She often steals valuables from corrupt nobles to donate money to the poor. Her main reason for becoming a thief was to clean up the cheat items from Aqua's previous reincarnates.
* MeaningfulName: An InUniverse example, she is named after the flower Chris, which is said to be the Goddess Eris' favorite flower.
* MirrorCharacter: Despite their pretty obvious differences, there are times when she (in either identity) sometimes behaves like Aqua does.
** Like when it looked like her Festival would be replaced with Aqua's, she acted like Aqua in response. This leads to Kazuma to question whether or not loving parties and festivals was just a shared trait for Goddesses.
** She is actually just as zealous, if not more so, about cleansing undead and devils as Aqua is.
** While universally loved as a goddess, her priesthood is seen in a negative light. First and foremost: according to Wiz and Dust, they don't perform religious services like exorcisms or restorative magic without substantial money being provided upfront. Her adherence to the purview of fortune (luck ''and'' wealth) makes the world incredibly capitalistic. The Axis Cult only desires money to compete with the Eris Sect, and are otherwise willing to offer their religious services for free (though will aggressively push clients to convert to Aqua's faith).
** Though some blame can be traced back to Aqua, the New World is spiritually in sorry shape. Demons and undead run rampant, while the clergy is remarked to be greedy. Eris is very aggressive against apostasy and has a mutual dislike of finding common ground with Aqua's believers.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Her silver hair is quite odd even for the humans of her world, which serves as yet another clue toward her true identity.
* NervousTics: She scratches her scar when she gets troubled. This is one of the ways Kazuma finds out she's Eris's alter-ego.
* OddFriendship:
** Despite their sectarian differences, Megumin notices a strange comeraderie between her and Cecily due to their shared hatred of devils, the undead, and apostates.
** A side story set between the first two volumes reveals that she got along quite well with Aqua before learning the truth about her. This leads to a strange conversation where they drunkenly complain to each other about a willful and lazy senpai (Aqua) and a needy and incompetent kohai (Eris, [[UnreliableNarrator according to Aqua]]), without either of them realizing that they are talking ''to'' said senpai/kohai.
* PaperThinDisguise:
** Aqua doesn't notice that Chris is Eris, despite her looking exactly the same, only with different clothes and shorter hair. Even though Eris was suppressing her divine aura, the fact that Aqua knew Eris was "playing human" on her world and pads her chest in the god realm, should have been enough to set alarms off. Justified, since Aqua ain't the sharpest tool in the shed.
** Her "disguise" as the Chivalrous Thief was just a bandana that she wears around her mouth. The only reason why it worked on the castle guards (and Megumin) was because they had never seen her before. Darkness can see right through it.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: She wears a scarf around her neck that sometimes uses as a mask when working as the "chivalrous thief" .
* SecretTestOfThievingSkill: Pulls one on Kazuma after teaching him Steal. It backfires when he takes her panties.
* SignificantDoubleCasting: She shares her voice actress with the goddess Eris, who turns out to be her alter ego.
* SnarkToSnarkCombat: Tends to engage in this a lot whenever she pairs up with Kazuma.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Her outfit basically reveals her midriff and thighs, befitting a thief like her, but certainly ''not'' befitting Eris.
* SueDonym: Kazuma [[LampshadeHanging points out]] Chris is written almost the same as Eris, with only the first character being different in Japanese. This is another hint to figure out her true identity.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: Whenever she is trying to lie about something, she tends to indulge in this. Luckily for her the other characters are also somewhat dim at times and ignores the odd things she is saying.
* TwoAliasesOneCharacter: Chris is the HumanDisguise of the goddess Eris. Kazuma eventually figures it out and gets Chris to accidentally admit her identity by answering to the name Eris.
* VanHelsingHateCrimes: Her policy towards devils and the undead is "extermination without exception". If she knew their identities, she would exterminate Wiz and Vanir, the [[FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire Friendly Neighborhood Lich and Archdevil]], without hesitation.
* VideoGameStealing: As a Thief, her signature skill is the Steal skill, which works by having Chris point her hand at a target and invoke the skill. Its chances of success depends on the target's healthy, as well as their respective Luck scores, but if it triggers successfully, it teleports a random item in the target's possession into her grasp. She taught this skill to Kazuma, and thanks to his incredibly high Luck score, it becomes a major part of his arsenal.
* VitriolicBestFriends: A [[DownplayedTrope downplayed example]] but it's there, she and Kazuma have a lot of casual banter when they team up as the Silver-haired Thieves, however they really kick it up a notch when they are getting punished by Darkness and start selling each other out.
* WillfullyWeak: Unlike Aqua, who descended from the heavens, Chris is a mortal body created by Eris to interact with the world. Due to this, it works exactly like a mortal body in this world would with all the strengths and limitations. While inhabiting Chris, Eris does not possess her powers of a goddess, including her divine mana capacity, the ability to sense ghosts, demons or undead, nor does her body possess a divine aura that attracts the undead.
* YouJustToldMe: Tricked by this in a very casual fashion, when Kazuma asks her a question while referring to her by the name "Eris".

Megumin's former classmate and self-proclaimed rival who feels that she just isn't worthy to run the clan until she beats Megumin in a contest, any contest.
----
* AlwaysSecondBest: She gained her CompetitionFreak attitude toward Megumin because the latter would always score the highest on tests.
* AmbiguouslyBi: Some medias implied she has a crush on Megumin, but she accepted pretty easily to have a child with Kazuma.
* AnimalsHateHer: Her desperation to make friends eventually devolved into making them with not just animals, but ''[[ExaggeratedTrope plants]]'', too! And even then, plants also hated her...
* TheArchmage: Outside of the low-hanging fruit that her character class is literally ''called'' "Archwizard", Yunyun fits the trope in two main ways. Firstly, after some level grinding between her debut in the 2nd volume and the 3rd volume, she gains the Advanced Magic skill library, granting her access to the most powerful wizard spells. Secondly, in contrast to other Crimson Demon Archwizards, who grind skill points in school so they can just take Advanced Magic and then settle for that, Yunyun took Intermediate Magic first and then added Advanced Magic, and even begins taking Basic Magic after having seen from Kazuma how useful it can be when used creatively. Few other Archwizards in Belzerg can match Yunyun in the breadth of their magical spell variety, which gives her an enormous array of abilities.
* AttractivenessIsolation: She's introduced suffering a nondating variation, in that it's explained that no one invites Yunyun to join their adventuring party because her high level, potent magic, status as a Crimson Demon ''and'' attractive looks makes them think she's out of their league.
* BadassAdorable: Yunyun is so cute and cuddly it's very easy to forget that she is also one of the most powerful mages of her generation, with what she lacks in terms of Megumin's sheer firepower and Arue's technical knowledge she more than makes up for with the variety of her spells (and thus a greater adaptability), as shown both in Megumin's spinoff and in her introduction into the main series, where she easily zaps to death a giant frog that had been causing Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin and Sena a whole lot of trouble.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: She is rather fond of Kazuma because he ''doesn't'' give her grief about her name, and actually treats her decently without ulterior motives for the most part — the sole exception is the anime's first OVA, but he was taking advantage of all his closest friends rather than just her.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's a ShrinkingViolet, quick to apologize for stuff, and a sweet individual once one gets to befriend her, but as other parties will recount and as Kazuma witnessed such, you don't ever want to be on the receiving end of her powerful abilities.
* BigDamnHeroes: Serves as this in the guild. Stories of lower-leveled parties recount how she usually saves them when they're in deep trouble.
* BoringButPractical: Yunyun's initial magic skill set consists only of Intermediate Magic, which all lack the flashiness normally associated with Crimson Demons. However, when traveling with Megumin it's often Yunyun's magic that is better suited for handling multiple encounters with different types of monsters, whereas Megumin's Explosion spell is very situational... not to mention Yunyun can cast far more spells per day than Megumin can, who exhausts her {{mana}} after firing Explosion once.
* BornUnlucky:
** We don't know her actual stat levels, and she has a decent track record when it comes to combat, but outside of fighting nothing ever seems to go right for her. Since childhood, she suffers from loneliness and all her attempts to win at her rivalry with Megumin end in complete failure. It's to the point that her rivalry with Megumin used to be her only form of meaningful interaction with anybody. However, once she met the main cast she finally managed to luck out by gaining a form of friendship with Kazuma, whose own BornLucky status likely cancels out her bad luck with friend-making, plus the fact he finds a kindred soul in her being a sane person among a world of madness.
** It's also played up literally: Yunyun [[SignificantBirthDate was born on]] ''[[UsefulNotes/LeapDay February 29th]]'', meaning that she only gets to celebrate her true birthday every four years. And considering one of her saddest memories is a OnePersonBirthdayParty...
* BrokenAce: She's an archwizard considered a magical prodigy even amongst Crimson Demons, as well as the wealthy daughter of the Crimson Demon chieftain, but she's been alone and friendless throughout her entire life. Her fellow Crimson Demons avoided her for many reasons, particular her lack of their {{Chuunibyou}} delusions, and even after leaving her village she's been unable to make a friend because other adventurers think she doesn't need teammates.
* BrokenPedestal: {{Downplayed|Trope}} — she used to believe that Megumin was TheAce, because she could beat her at just about any competition they could imagine ''and'' always scored the highest on tests. Her opinion of Megumin plummets after she discovers that Megumin is dedicated to learning Explosion magic and only Explosion magic.
* BuxomBeautyStandard: Despite being the same age as Megumin, she's more physically developed on the chest, which Kazuma comments on. Megumin for her part [[ACupAngst is envious of her for this]] and at one point even [[BreastAttack slaps her breasts in anger]] while asking if they've grown even more.
* ByTheLightsOfTheirEyes: The Crimson Magic Clan are named after their [[RedEyesTakeWarning deep red eyes]], which radiate in varying intensity to the person's emotion state. In the dark they give off an "eye shine" that can be seen without a light source.
* TheChewToy: Megumin constantly makes a fool out of her during their "contests", and she gets treated as the village oddball due to refusing to indulge in her race's {{chuunibyou}} delusions. We see this in the fullest in the Megumin spinoff showing her past in the magic academy. A minor RunningGag in the anime's second season (during the party's visit to Alcanretia) has her trying to show off to Megumin in front of Kazuma's mansion, before realizing ''[[EpicFail nobody is present]]''.
* {{Chuunibyou}}: Double subverted. She is that rare Crimson Demon who ''doesn't'' like to act like a chunni — she is embarrassed by her name, doesn't make long speeches when introducing herself, doesn't pose dramatically or wear cosmetic eyepatches, etc. This makes her as weird in her hometown as Megumin is in Axel. However, even she cannot escape her Crimson Demon blood — when she is challenging Megumin to a duel, she gets passionate, speaks dramatically, poses, and boasts of how she will be the greatest Crimson Demon mage ever just as soon as victory is hers.
* CleavageWindow: In the first OVA, Kazuma admits that he's constantly looking at her breasts, but blames her for putting it on display.
* ContinuityDrift: When Yunyun debuted, she was presented as a hapless, luckless loser with zero friends, an utterly pathetic home life, and a frosty relationship with her rival, Megumin. When Megumin's spinoff was released, it does the typical ExpansionPackPast retcon of paying lip service to her original characterization, and stating those traits were true ''at one point in time''. But she quickly gets over them and becomes close friends with her classmates and Megumin alike, to the point they have a very emotional goodbye when Megumin leaves the village.
* CulturalCringe: She's terribly embarrassed by her fellow Crimson Demons' {{Chuunibyou}} culture. In turn, everyone at the village thinks she's the weirdo for not accommodating to their antics.
* CutenessProximity: She really doesn't like it when Megumin kills cute critters like the Onion Duck for food.
* TheCutie: Unlike the snappy and aggressive Megumin, Yunyun is meek, hapless (especially towards Megumin's bullying) and innocent.
* DeliberateUnderPerformance: When Megumin claimed she still needed four points to learn advanced magic (actually she was saving points for Explosion), Yunyun got worried she would graduate before Megumin so she willingly lowered her own grades and avoided getting more skill points. Megumin pointed out she could have just kept saving points until they graduated. This comment, along with the reveal as to ''why'' Megumin was stockpiling skill points, led to Yunyun's RageBreakingPoint.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Of the Megumin Prequel. She's the only character besides Megumin to appear in every chapter/episode, and plays a major role in most of them.
* DisintegratorRay: Low level enemies struck by ''Light of Saber'' are subject to NoBodyLeftBehind.
* DoYouWantToCopulate: She outright begs Kazuma to get her pregnant in the epilogue of volume 4. To say that Kazuma's entire party is shocked would be a major understatement. In Volume 5, Yunyun proceeds to explain she has received a "prophecy" that tells her she must have a child with a loser so said child will defeat the Demon King, though this is revealed to be a joke played by one of her former classmates.
* ElementalPowers: Due to her mastery of Intermediate Magic, followed by Advanced Magic, Yunyun wields a diverse array of powerful elemental spells. Even when she only knows Intermediate Magic, she gains access to FireIceLightning, courtesy of Fireball, Freeze Gust and Lightning, as well as a [[BlowYouAway air attack]] called [[RazorWind Blade of Wind]]. Taking Advanced Magic increases her arsenal with Saber of Light, Energy Ignition, Cursed Lightning, Cursed Crystal Prison, Lightning Strike, Inferno and Tornado.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: She despises the name Yunyun because it doesn't sound normal to her.
* EmbarrassingNickname: She gains two, "The One With Azure Lightning On Her Back" and "Crackling Thunder" when she finally gains the approval of the Crimson Mages. Megumin in particular deems her the "Number 1 loner of the Crimson Magic Clan", which isn't well received to say the least.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Desperate as she is for friends, she draws the line at being friends with Dust.
* ExtremeDoormat: She'll constantly capitulate to her Crimson Demon classmates as long as she's convinced that it's part of their friendship.
* FriendlessBackground: She's too sensible and timid to fit into her fellow Crimson Demons' {{Chuunibyou}} culture, resulting in a very lonely and friendless childhood. Even [[AnimalsHateHim animals and]] ''[[AnimalsHateHim plants]]'' [[AnimalsHateHim avoided her as a child]].
* FriendshipDenial: Even though she's desperate to make friends, she still denies that she and Megumin are already friends, insisting they're "rivals" instead.
* HeirToTheDojo: Heir to be clan chief, actually, but the terms are mostly the same, given that the entire clan are arch wizards.
* HumanSubspecies: As a Crimson Demon, Yunyun belongs to a lineage of humans who were genetically augmented for [[MageSpecies superior arcane magical affinity]] generations ago by a MadScientist.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: She's so desperate for friends, she is perfectly willing to become friends with non-humans, like plants. She even tried to ''summon a demon'' just to have a friend. Unfortunately, this makes her a constant target for less-than-savory people looking to take advantage of her. However, [[EveryoneHasStandards even she is not desperate enough to become friends with Dust]].
-->'''Megumin:''' I used to think that Yunyun is an odd child who cannot fit into society, and will be easily tricked by a bad guy who pretends to be her friend.
* IncompletelyTrained: The first ''Explosion'' spin-off reveals she learned Intermediate Magic, thus graduating early from magic school, to save Komekko from a group of demons.
* InterclassFriendship: With Megumin. Yunyun is the daughter of their village's chief, making her fairly rich, while Megumin's family is so poor that she literally had to eat bugs. Despite their denials, they're obviously good friends.
* LadyNotAppearingInThisGame: Is featured in the anime season 1 opening but never showed up. Although she does appear in the OVA, which also uses that opening, it chronologically takes place somewhere in the middle of season 2.
* LightEmUp: Her signature high-tier attack magic is ''Light of Saber'', a destructive spell that allows her to unleash a combination of BlastingTime, BeamSpam, and HandBlast. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9hwxG0TUxA The anime portrays it]] having [[ShockAndAwe electric]] properties as well.
* LonelyAtTheTop: The other adventurers see her as TheAce for rescuing them a lot and clearing many quests by herself. Unfortunately, this also causes them to believe that they're too weak to form a party with her, or that she's a [[IWorkAlone lone wolf]] who doesn't like adventuring parties.
* LonelyRichKid: Despite Yunyun's privileged life as the daughter of the village chief, she was alone. In her introduction, we see embarrassing memories where she is celebrating her birthday in a large room with a long table, and is completely by herself. We also see her playing chess by herself, and trying to summon a demon out of desperation.
* MasterOfNone: During Megumin's spinoff, Yunyun had to spend her skill points on Intermediate Magic because she was shy a few points from advanced magic and because she, Megumin, and Komekko were surrounded by a horde of monsters. This allows to her at least fight back, though none of the spells are that threatening against higher level foes like Anis and Hoost. Fortunately, she grinds enough levels to learn Advanced Magic by Volume 3 of the main series.
* MundaneUtility: Most of Yunyun's Intermediate Magic spells are either elemental attacks or StatusEffects. Then there's Unlock, a spell that instantly opens any lock.
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: The Crimson Demon Clan are near-literally born and raised to be massive cases of {{Chuunibyou}}, and it's clear Yunyun's parents (especially her father Hiropon) raised her in hopes she'd turn out the same, but by some chance she was born with a reflexive feeling of embarrasment towards such an attitude, resulting in her being the OnlySaneWoman among an entire village full of nutcases. It's a bit {{downplayed|Trope}} though, as when motivated she shows great potential for engaging in the grandiose theatrics signature of the clan, she just feels highly reluctant to indulge in them due to the sense of embarrasment.
* NiceGirl: She self-proclaims herself as Megumin's rival, but she's a very friendly individual once gets to know her, and she cares for Megumin as well as her other friends in Kazuma's party, Vanir and Wiz. She's also quick to apologize for stuff.
* NoSocialSkills: She grew up in a village where everyone is a {{Chuunibyou}} and they treated her as a weirdo for not viewing it as normal behavior. This left her with no experience or basic knowledge of how to interact with people, resulting in her being misunderstood or easily manipulated.
* OddFriendship:
** Gets along strangely well with Kazuma, [[OnlySaneMan mostly due to their mutual desire for common sense in a world with anything but]].
** Also interestingly enough, with Vanir. Maybe.
** Is acquaintances with Dust, though not really willingly. As she says, even she has the right to be able to pick who she wants as a friend, and he hangs with her mostly out of pity.
* {{Ojou}}: Subverted. Her father is the clan chief and the house she grew up appears fairly large, but she doesn't act as such nor does she get the typical benefits: she doesn't get a GirlPosse, she has to ''work'' to take "friends" to lunch, and through no fault of her own she was thrown out of her clan's social security program, making her actually economically ''disadvantaged''.
* OnePersonBirthdayParty: One of her most embarrassing and saddest memories is her celebrating her own birthday by herself.
* OnlySaneMan:
** Among the Crimson Mage Clan, she finds their compulsion to act in a chunni way embarrassing.
** Counts as a meta example too, with the only other people she shares sanity with being Kazuma and Luna.
* PrivilegedRival: In contrast to Megumin's [[WorkingClassHero financially challenged background]], Yunyun is the daughter of the village Chief and is next in line to lead their clan.
* ProneToTears: She's very frequently crying, mostly due to Megumin in some way or another.
* RageBreakingPoint: Volume 1, chapter 4 of the ''Explosion'' spin-off manga shows that when Yunyun learned that Megumin was deliberately avoiding learning Advanced Magic and only wanted to learn the Explosion spell, the most AwesomeButImpractical spell of the already AwesomeButImpractical Detonation Magic skill, Yunyun snapped and beat up Megumin in a furious outburst -- one of the only times they've fought and Yunyun has won, despite Megumin "excusing" it afterwards.
* RedEyesTakeWarning:
** A strange subversion. Much like the Crimson Magic Clan, Yunyun has red eyes, and she has powerful magical abilities that have helped her a lot in the past and currently (such as [[LightEmUp Light of Saber]]). On the other hand, she is a {{nice|Girl}} and {{sh|rinking Violet}}y heroine, meaning Yunyun is usually not too menacing.
** Deconstructed and played for laughs in the Explosions! spin-off. Because a Crimson Clan member's eyes glow when they become excited, Yunyun managed to scare off every prospective rookie adventurer who wanted to join her party due to them believing it was this trope.
* TheRival: The self-proclaimed one to Megumin, and is constantly challenging her to contests.
* ShipperOnDeck: After overhearing Darkness's preferences for men, she immediately thinks that Dust fits the bill. Chapter 4 of Dust's SpinOff novel focuses on this. It doesn't help either of them that she ThinksLikeARomanceNovel.
* ShrinkingViolet: She's incredibly shy and has difficulty talking to strangers.
* SignificantBirthDate: Supplementary material treats us to the fact she was ''literally'' BornUnlucky... ''because she was born on '''[[UsefulNotes/LeapDay February 29th]]''''' (she can only celebrate her birthday every four years).
* SixthRanger: To both Kazuma and Dust's teams. She often gets involved with Kazuma's team due to her "rivalry" with Megumin, and Dust often drags her along on his adventures during his spinoff, especially whenever one of his other party members is unavailable and he needs a replacement.
* SoBeautifulItsACurse: As a prepubescent girl, she was one of the first to [[BuxomBeautyStandard develop breasts]] in her class, which caused many of the other girls to avoid her out of jealousy.
* StatusEffects: Thanks to taking Intermediate Magic, Yunyun has access to the very useful if non-damaging spells Sleep, Paralyze and Flash. Upon learning Advanced Magic, she gains access to the spells Bottomless Swamp (creates a quagmire that pulls down anyone caught in it), Silent (which negates all sound in the target area) and Light of Reflection (which makes the target invisible).
* ThickerThanWater: She's perfectly willing to act in a chuuni way if it means she can assist her fellow Crimson Mages in battle.
* {{Tsundere}}: Parodied; she denies wanting to be friends with her "rival" Megumin, but it's perfectly clear to everyone that she does, and she admits that she admires Megumin's forward and brave attitude when she thinks the latter is asleep. It goes both ways.
* UnknownRival: Subverted. Megumin pretends initially to not even know who Yunyun is and consistently acts like her challenges are no big deal, but in truth, Megumin is deeply invested in their rivalry and will go to great lengths to win.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Though she won't admit being friends with her, she and Megumin get along better than either of them would ever admit. Their rivalry ''is'' [[FriendlyRivalry their friendship]], despite Yunyun's competitiveness and Megumin's apathy.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: She looks way more developed than her 13 years of age, especially compared to Megumin, as Kazuma lampshades.
* YourApprovalFillsMeWithShame: When she finally acts chuuni just once in front of the Crimson Mages, they stop treating her like the village oddball and she becomes the most popular person in the village. Unfortunately, they gave her really embarrassing nicknames to which she begs for them to stop.

A [[OurLichesAreDifferent lich]] and a semi-retired general from the Demon King's armies, discovered by the party while on a quest to stop a zombie maker monster. She actually defies all the known lich conventions by not only appearing human, but actually helping send the ghosts in that graveyard to their proper final destinations because the human priests who ran the cemetery [[OnlyInItForTheMoney couldn't be bothered to deal with the poor people's section]]. When she's not soothing souls, she runs a struggling magic items shop in Axel.
----
* AgeInsecurity: When asked her age, Wiz insistently answers that she's "forever twenty" because liches don't age.
* TheAllegedBoss: It's easy to forget that Vanir is frying his own employer with his Death Ray for blowing their profits on defective magic items. At one point, he even forces her through two weeks of strictly supervised work without any food or sleep, only relenting when it starts taking a toll on her sanity.
* AmbiguouslyBi: Wiz obviously is attracted to men, but when a succubus entered her store and called her "cute", she started to blush and even served her tea. Though it could be argued that she simply liked to be praised.
* ApologisesALot: Wiz tends to be very meek and polite.
* ArtifactOfDeath: Her shop specializes in selling cursed items. Because no sane adventurer would purchase something guaranteed to kill them, she rarely makes profitable sales.
* AttractivenessIsolation: Everyone will readily admit Wiz is incredibly attractive and has an adorable personality. She's single partly because men are intimidated by her good looks and high level. The other half of the equation is that she's regarded as a "treasure" by all the single men in Axel and therefore there is an unspoken agreement that she's off limits for them to fantasize about from afar.
* AttractiveZombie: Her somewhat pale skin is the only sign that she's undead. For comparison, fellow lich Keele is heavily decomposed.
* BadassAdorable: Wiz is beautiful and pleasant. She's also an exceptionally powerful spellcaster whom you don't want to get on the bad side with.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: She is considered a being that defies the rules of the gods by becoming a lich, but is naturally a good person.
* BewareTheNiceOnes:
** With her polite, kind demeanor and status as TheChewToy, it's rather easy to forget that she was once a powerful adventurer, is currently a high-ranking general of the Demon King, and is one of the most powerful characters in the series. As [[spoiler:Hans]] can personally attest to, she can be quite frightening when you go past the line she has drawn against civilian casualties. When she gets angry, even ''Aqua'' is terrified of her.
** In her backstory, her one-woman assault on the Demon King's castle after becoming a Lich quickly turned into a MookHorrorShow — in addition to cutting a bloody swath through the entire garrison, she managed to one-shot Hans with Cursed Crystal Prison, off-handedly knocked out [[MageKiller Sylvia]] using Drain Touch, and proceeded to pummel Beldia into submission even ''after'' he agreed to lift the death curse he had placed on her party members.
* BigEater: While she tries to act modest, she'll quickly give in to her hunger and wolf down enough food to serve multiple people. This is because she's so poor she usually subsides on sugar water and goes on for days/weeks without solid food.
* TheChewToy:
** She used to be a frequent target of Aqua's attempts at exorcism, even though she has done nothing evil, [[FantasticRacism simply because she's a lich]].
** Her utter incompetence at running a shop has seen her at the receiving end of [[RunningGag multiple]] Vanir-style Death Rays.
* ColdHam: Becomes this when angered, befitting an Ice Witch. After trapping [[spoiler: Hans with Cursed Crystal Prison]], she camly walks up on him while calmly explaining what he just did is a breach of her neutrality pact, and her speech holds so much power that you can barely hear [[spoiler: Hans']] terrified yelling.
* ConnectedAllAlong: It turns out that she's the number-one patron of Hyoizaburo, the Crimson Demon craftsman of (useless) magic items: also known as Megumin's father.
* CoolBigSis: Kazuma's party looks up to her as a kind and supportive, if financially incompetent, older sister figure.
* CreepyCrosses: She's a lich and wears a cross brooch over her chest.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: For the most part, Wiz is a easily stressed, financially irresponsible klutz. However, she's an extremely powerful Archwizard, who even the Demon King's generals are hesitant to cross.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Despite being a lich, she is pretty much one of the kindest beings in the series.
* DealWithTheDevil: In her final encounter with Vanir, she attempts to strike one of these: In return for her soul, he would remove Verdia's Premonition of Death on her companions. Since she just sacrificed most of her lifespan, her soul is useless, and he refuses. He makes a counter-offer: he would teach her how to become a lich, giving her enough power to ''force'' Verdia to remove the curse, and in return, they have to work together to achieve his goal of making a dungeon.
* TheDreaded: Even the Demon King's elites do their best to stay out of her way.
* AnEntrepreneurIsYou: Runs a magic items shop in town.
* ExtremeDoormat: She tolerates most of other people's behavior, even if they are harmful to her. Somewhat downplayed, however, given she also does stand up against people that push her buttons and generally receives her due reward for tolerating behaviors, even having a OddFriendship with Aqua, who previously tried to kill her every time she saw her.
* FadingAway: Whenever she gets close to actually dying (usually thanks to Aqua), she turns transparent.
* FantasticNuke: She can also use Explosion, but unlike Megumin, she has mastered the RequiredSecondaryPowers as well, so she doesn't collapse after casting it once.
* FantasticRacism: She considers lichs the kings of undead, and doesn't take kindly to vampires trying to claim that position.
* AFoolAndHisNewMoneyAreSoonParted: After Vanir makes a decent fortune selling the Intellectual Property he bought from Kazuma, she immediately uses it to buy a pile of manatite crystals that would be impossible to turn around for a profit.
* FormalCharactersUseKeigo: She always speaks in ''keigo'' to emphasize her polite personality.
* FriendlyShopkeeper: Wiz is a good-natured {{Lich}} who operates a cursed item shop and is friends with Kazuma and company. The only reason she doesn't join them on their adventures is because Aqua's [[TurnUndead holy powers]] are dangerous to her. While she is kind, she is unfortunately rather incompetent, selling dangerous or just impractical cursed items.
* FriendlyZombie: Despite being a lich, Wiz is a FriendlyShopkeeper and recurrent ally to the heroes.
* HeadTurningBeauty: The adventurers in Axel remember her for two reasons: for being a powerful arch-mage and former adventurer, and for being very [[BuxomBeautyStandard well-endowed]]. Some of the male adventurers mention coming to her shop just to [[EatingTheEyeCandy Eat The Eye Candy]].
* HidingBehindYourBangs: Her right eye is often covered by her hair, representing her somewhat reclusive nature. They also provide a SultryBangs image when her MsFanservice status is played up.
* HoistByHerOwnPetard: [[spoiler:She sacrificed all of her life force by using a forbidden magic item in a last attempt to defeat Vanir, only for Vanir to come out unharmed. She "survived" thanks to Vanir telling her how to turn herself into a lich.]]
* HorrifyingTheHorror:
** Aqua counts as Wiz's horror, due to her divine powers being more than enough to vaporize Wiz, and she has tried to kill Wiz multiple times before. But when Wiz gets pissed, even Aqua is terrfied.
** Hans is a nasty slime monster that can singlehandedly lay waste to huge areas. He's startled when he sees Wiz while in disguise. This is because he's been on the recieving end of her spells in the past. And when he's on the recieving end again in season 2, he's absolutely terrified.
* HotBlooded: She was pretty active hunting down Demon King army elites, and particularly against Vanir she got really heated.
* HumanShield: Vanir callously uses her as this to block's Aqua's purification magic in Volume 8.
* AnIcePerson: During her adventuring days prior to becoming a lich, she excelled at and specialized in ice element magic. When truly enraged, she emits a freezing aura while casting cold themed spells, such as her now well-known [[SignatureMove Cursed Crystal Prison]].
* IdiotHair: A big one spurts from the top of her head, and she's admittedly [[IncompetenceInc a pretty]] [[AFoolAndHisNewMoneyAreSoonParted bad shopowner]].
* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: She became a lich when she was 20 years old. Therefore, [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial she's 20]]. You're not allowed to ask any more questions.
* ImportantHairAccessory: When she was a human adventurer, Wiz wore her cross brooch on her bangs. After she became a lich, she begun wearing the cross over her chest.
* KryptoniteFactor: All of Aqua's abilities, including her water spells, are infused with the holy element. As a result, she can kill undead with something as insignificant as tears. Wiz is unable to accompany Kazuma's party on his adventures, even when it would be beneficial for everyone involved, because Aqua's collateral holy effect could destroy her.
* LapPillow: Gives this to Kazuma by his request in the OVA, after [[ItMakesSenseInContext he puts on a cursed choker in her shop that would slowly kill him]]. She is clearly embarrassed by it, but eventually agrees.
* LetsGetDangerous: During the Alcanretia story arc, she follows Kazuma's party to the city of Alcanretia, place where they find [[spoiler:one of the Demon King's generals, [[MuckMonster Ha]][[PoisonousPerson ns]]]], who makes the mistake of pushing her BerserkButton: [[WouldNotShootACivilian killing a civilian]]. [[spoiler:[[BewareTheNiceOnes She's enraged]]. She's emitting a harsh, [[AnIcePerson cold]] [[BattleAura aura]]. She traps Hans in her [[SignatureMove Cursed Crystal Prison]]. [[PreAssKickingOneLiner She declares to him she's]] NeutralNoLonger and battles him, no mercy.]] OhCrap, indeed.
-->'''[[PhysicalGod Aqua]]:''' Wiz is scaring me...
* LevelLockedLoot: One reason her shop can't sell things, is because some merchandise is too high level or absurdly expensive. Axel is a town of first level adventurers, so she should be selling more StarterEquipment.
* LifeDrain: Drain Touch, which also functions as a ManaDrain, is a spell used by undead that she teaches to Kazuma early on.
* ManaBurn: Suffers from it when trying to drain or use magic points taken from Aqua, because Aqua's magic is ''holy'' and she is undead.
* MessyHair: Has rather long, brown and unkempt hair with [[IdiotHair an ahoge]] at the top of her head, and a fringe that sometimes covers her right eye.
* MinionWithAnFInEvil: She's one of the Demon King's generals, but her service to him never went beyond maintaining the barrier around his castle, and she doesn't have a bounty since she's never harmed anyone.
* MoneyDumb: Vanir can only marvel at how easily she loses money.
* MostCommonSuperpower: Wiz is stacked, doesn't sag, and her massive boobs jiggle around ''a lot'' in the anime.
* MsFanservice: Wiz has a naturally curvy and [[StatuesqueStunner a taller body]] than most other girls sans [[AmazonianBeauty Darkness]]. During the anime, she's the subject of [[BoobBasedGag gags involving her body]] (mostly when [[TeamPet Chomusuke]] is around).
* MundaneUtility: She summons an army of ghosts to snoop on someone she thinks has a crush on her.
* MysteriousPast: Her past is never fully revealed, is mentioned only in bits and pieces, and even stuff that she doesn't directly say, but her body language hints that it has a far deeper meaning than it appears. [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] as of the Vanir spin-off, though it mostly just goes into detail on how she and Vanir met, and how she became a Lich in the first place.
* NearDeathExperience: Or Near-Exorcism Experience, rather. She dreams of being at the banks of a river with Beldia and her former companions waving across at her.
* NeutralNoLonger: Though this is on an individual basis when one of her fellow generals attacks civilians.
* NiceGirl: Despite her species and past line of work, Wiz is one of the sweetest, most compassionate people in the series. Just [[BerserkButton don't shoot]] [[WouldNotShootACivilian a civilian]] if you're from the Devil King's army.
* NighInvulnerability: Barring assault with enchanted or holy weapons, liches can't be harmed by physical attacks. Liches can deal with mundane threats by simply eating all their attacks and using [[VampiricDraining Drain Touch]] to suck out all their health. After learning this, Kazuma is ''very'' [[GladHesOnOurSide glad she's on their side]].
* NoSell: As a lich, she can only be harmed by magic. Physical attacks without MagicEnhancement won't phase her, meaning she can let a [[PantheraAwesome Rookie Killer]] pounce on her and emerge unscathed. Vanir also admits that she's too powerful for his Clairvoyance, so he can't tell when she's going to flush their profits away.
* NobleDemon: Even the "demon" part is pushing it, because she is so sweet. Really, the only reason she counts at all is basically is technically undead and nominally a leader in the Demon King's army.
* NominalVillain: She's one of the Demon King's generals holding up the barrier around his castle, but that's where her job with him ends since she doesn't want to get involved in any evil business and her actual role is being a FriendlyShopkeeper.
* NoodleIncident: How she turned from one of the greatest adventurers in the world to a servant of the same Demon King she once tried to hunt down remains a mystery. In a more specific case, little is known as to how she became acquainted with Vanir, other than a vague mention of them being friends and him being one who does not die easily, implying they may have met when Wiz was still an adventurer. Though later on Vanir's Consultation SpinOff shows how they first met and how she became a lich in the first place.
* ObliviousToLove: She didn't know one of her party members had a crush on her until Vanir read his mind and revealed he wanted to marry Wiz.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When the normally meek and polite Wiz gets angry and [[LetsGetDangerous takes off her gloves]], she's genuinely intimidating.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: In the novels, Kazuma is unconscious (due to her using Drain Touch on him) while she [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown beats the tar out of Hans]]. This is averted in the Anime, where a full battle is shown.
* OneWomanArmy: After becoming a lich, she single-handedly [[StormingTheCastle assaulted the Demon King's castle]], ripped a hole in the barrier with a ''single'' spell, and effortlessly defeated three of the Demon King's generals.
* OurLichesAreDifferent: She's unique among her kind for appearing as a beautiful woman instead of the traditional [[DemBones robed skeletons]].
* PerpetualPoverty: Her shop is barely getting by, and is only still existing due to the support of the adventurers in Axel. It's later revealed that she blows much of her earnings on weird items that no one in their right mind would purchase, and upon [[spoiler:Vanir]] effectively taking over operations, it's finally making a profit again, at least until she wastes it all on a poorly thought out business plan. The situation is so bad that she often goes days without food, though as a lich, this isn't too much of an issue.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Vanir. The pair live together, work together, and both have promised to remain at the other's side. Wiz has admitted she won't marry someone until Vanir first achieves his dream (because she doesn't want to divide her attention between the most important people in her life). That being said, Wiz still seeks someone to romantically love and Vanir tries to encourage her whenever she takes interest in someone.
* PointyHairedBoss: She makes business selling incredibly high-level, expensive, and situationally useful magic items[[note]]e.g., a device meant to be eaten by a giant toad that will make them explode. The reward for killing a giant toad is 25,000 eris. The device costs 200,000.[[/note]] in a town populated mostly with low-level adventurers. As characters points out, [[IncompetenceInc the business ends up more in the red with the harder that Wiz works]]. Her taking business advice from Aqua certainly doesn't help. Her partner Vanir does what he can to keep the business going [[HypercompetentSidekick since he does have the common sense that Wiz lacks for business]], but Wiz keeps getting them in debt by buying ridiculously expensive and flawed magic items.
* PowerAtAPrice: In her past, after her two teammates were cursed by Beldia, [[spoiler:she used a forbidden magic item to greatly amplify her magic at the cost of her lifespan. In the end, Vanir ended up teaching her how to become a lich, an undead who has a limitless lifespan.]]
* PowerStereotypeFlip: She was quite a hothead when she was an adventurer. Ironically considering she used to be known as an "Ice Witch" for her powerful ice spells.
* PreAsskickingOneLiner: Before her battle with [[spoiler:Hans, after he makes the mistake of he ate a civilian]], she declares to him that she's NeutralNoLonger.
-->''"The condition for my neutrality was that [[WouldNotShootACivilian no non-combatants were to be killed]]. [[BerserkButton Isn't that right?]] [...] It's unavoidable that adventurers lose their lives in battle. They take the lives of monsters, and [[ExperiencePoints make their livings doing so]]. They should be prepared to [[AllAreEqualInDeath meet a similar end]]. The same for [[TheCavalry knights]]... [[SignedUpForTheDental They collect taxes, and in exchange, they protect the citizenry.]] Since they receive that payment, [[SomeoneHasToDie their involvement in life-and-death battles is a natural consequence]]. However... [...] '''[[spoiler:[[RageBreakingPoint ...the nice old man who oversaw these hot springs]]]]''' '''[[RageBreakingPoint didn't do anything wrong!]]'''"''
* RedBaron: In her days as an adventurer, she was known throughout the continent as the "Ice Witch". Also the (self-proclaimed) ''No Life King''.
* RetiredBadass: Used to be a powerhouse even before becoming a lich and a general of the Demon King, but nowadays she mostly sticks around to managing her shop.
* ReviveKillsZombie: Aqua's divinity is harmful to her undead body. [[ExaggeratedTrope She's even allergic to Aqua's tears.]] Kazuma has to use Drain Touch to resuscitate her with someone else's vitality, because healing magic will have the opposite effect.
* SignatureMove: Two — [[TouchOfDeath Drain Touch]] and [[AnIcePerson Cursed Crystal Prison]].
* SpannerInTheWorks:
** Despite Hans' obviously suspicious behavior, Kazuma's party can't prove he's polluting Arcanletia's hot springs... until Wiz blows his cover by outing him as a [[BlobMonster Deadly Poison Slime]] while just trying to greet him.
** [[spoiler:Serena nearly convinces Kazuma that the Demon King is actually a young girl ForcedIntoEvil before Wiz yet again outs her as fellow General Seresdina with an innocent greeting.]]
* StatuesqueStunner: She's up there with [[AmazonianBeauty Darkness]] as one of the tallest women in the series, standing taller than most of Axel's regular people.
* StereotypeFlip: Liches are typically portrayed as robed skeletons that wield powerful magics (normally necromancy) and are very evil. While Wiz is powerful, she looks like a young beautiful woman and is one of the most benign and innocent people in the series.
* StoryBreakerPower: She only appears in slice-of-life moments whenever Kazuma's party visits her shop to stock up for their next big adventure, yet she is shown to be an incredibly powerful Arch-Wizard prior to becoming a lich, even knowing a version of Explosion that is just as powerful but not as taxing as Megumin's. Vanir's side story reveals just how powerful she was back in her adventuring days: [[spoiler:She was powerful enough to effortlessly defeat Beldia, Hans and Sylvia all by herself. And that was only when she was a beginner Lich, since then she has apparently developed even more offensive magic to use.]] While her level is never mentioned, it was hinted at in the web novel to be significantly over ''Level 80''. In comparison, the highest level member of Kazuma's group is Megumin in her 40's.
* StupidSacrifice: {{Discussed|Trope}} — she would gladly let herself be destroyed or purified to defeat the Demon King and bring peace to the world, if it came to that. However, a being as powerful as [[StoryBreakerPower Aqua]] (or a spell as powerful as Megumin's Explosion) could easily break through the Demon King's barrier even if two or three generals remain upholding it. [[spoiler:She lets Aqua do it in Volume 15, but Aqua is unable to go through with it.]]
* TaremeEyes: [[NonStandardCharacterDesign Especially compared to the rest of the cast in the light novel and anime]], her eyes are round. They highlight her meek and polite nature.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Very much downplayed, but even if she's a kind and heroic person, she's still a lich and a nominal member of the Demon King's forces.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Though now retired, apparently she used to be this relative to the Demon King's other generals, since she only maintains the boss's barrier. However, Hans remarks that she ''never'' would have considered negiotating or talking-things-out before she became a lich, which casts doubt on this.
* TookALevelInKindness: According to Hans, she used to hunt monsters and such "liked dogs" and never ever considered talking things out with her enemies. Wiz sheepishly responds that she didn't see clearly back then.
* TouchOfDeath: [[VampiricDraining Drain]] [[LastDiscMagic Touch]], the SignatureMove of liches. It can also be used to transfer mana and vitality to others.
* UndeathlyPallor: The only visible sign that Wiz is undead is being paler than the average person.
* WorfHadTheFlu: Throughout the Alcanretia story arc, her close proximity and constant exposure to Aqua's divine aura kept her in a weakened state, as a result she was not at full power when [[spoiler:she fought Hans]]. [[StoryBreakerPower Not that she needed to, anyway.]]
** In Volume 7 of the Dust spinoff, she ends up running out of mana against an enemy general because she used Explosion earlier on the enemy's army and had also fought several other battles.
* WorthyOpponent: She's the first human that Vanir ever recognized by name.
* WouldNotShootACivilian: She stays neutral towards other members of the Demon King's army unless they break this rule. If you [[BerserkButton break it in front of her or boast that you did it]], ''[[BewareTheNiceOnes pray]]''.

An Arch-Devil, one of the seven Dukes of Hell and the second publicly proclaimed general of the Demon King encountered by the party. A devil who feeds on the negative emotions of people, though due to this he actually has a fondness for humanity and actively tries not to harm them. Notable for his impressive powers of foresight and clairvoyance.
----
* TheAce: Aside from Aqua, he's among the strongest characters introduced, as he never fights seriously against humans as he prefers just {{troll}}ing people. Rumors say he is possibly even stronger than the Demon King.
* ActionBomb: His dolls self-destruct explosively after grabbing an enemy.
* AffablyEvil: He's a demon who loves feeding on negative emotions, but he's also very affable and acts as a civilized citizen after moving to Axel.
* AntiquatedLinguistics: He speaks in an archaic manner, using "''wagahai''" to refer to himself.[[note]]Some translations equate this to him saying "''[[GratuitousFrench moi]]''"[[/note]] and "''nanji''" to address others.
* ArcVillain: Kazuma's party faces and defeats him in the last chapter of Volume 3. Unlike other of the Demon King's generals, he stays as a recurring character, although he isn't an antagonist anymore.
* AssimilationBackfire: Downplayed. While he does manage to control Darkness and make her fight far more effectively than ever before, she can still talk and ruin all of his cool lines.
* BaitAndSwitch: His favorite negative emotions are those that come as a result of this. He specifically mentions transforming himself into a beautiful woman, convincing a man to fall in love with him, then revealing his true form.
-->'''Vanir:''' Hahaha! Did you think that you have won? Unfortunately, what you have killed is only an [[ItMakesSenseInContext erotic radish]]!
* BatmanGambit: He's basically responsible for most of the events of Volume 7, nudging Kazuma onto a path that would lead to [[spoiler:Alderp breaking his contract with Maxwell]].
* BeleagueredAssistant: Wiz's incompetency as a shopkeeper frustrates him to no end and often causes him to blast her with a laser out of sheer anger.
* BigShutUp: Belts out several of these while possessing Darkness, as she keeps interrupting his dramatic lines and breaking the tension.
* BlackmailIsSuchAnUglyWord: He values "customer confidentiality". As in, become his customer and take his hilariously over-inflated price, and he won't oust you as the Demon King's general.
* ChickMagnet: The Succubi find him very attractive as a fellow demon and become jealous when he shows interest in Luna.
* CoolMask: Which also happens to be his main body, the humanoid figure just being a means of moving around. He admires the Silver Hair thieving duo ([[spoiler:Note: Kazuma and Chris]]) because of the Masked thief's similar taste in masks ([[spoiler:Note: the mask he gave Kazuma]]).
* CrystalBall: See FortuneTeller below. He doesn't even need ''that'', since he can see someone's past and future just by looking at them.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Has his own spin-off, with a series of short stories involving him counselling the other characters with his foresight.
* DeathByIrony: He uses explosive dolls on people and loses his first life after being blasted with the Explosion spell.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: After his first body is defeated, he declares that his contract with the Demon King to serve as one of his generals ended with that body and joins Wiz in running her magic shop, becoming an ally from that point on. However, that doesn't stop him from being a massive troll and screwing with the cast so he can feed off their negative emotions.
* DevilInDisguise: Quite literally. To most people he's just another taxpaying magic shop's assistant.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: He enjoys trolling Aqua and ruining her selfish plans, even when they have nothing to do with him. He largely gets away with it by fleeing or having someone intervene before Aqua can OneHitKill him.
* EmotionEater: It's how he eats, feasting on the negative emotions of the people round him. Befitting of his trollish nature, he especially enjoys feelings of frustration, rage, shock, embarrassment, and shame.
* ExpressiveMask: His eye marks change shape in accordance to his mood, as the mask is his actual body.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: While he feeds off negative emotions, especially shame, he has no appetite for despair. As much of a troll Vanir is, at least he has a sense of honor that prevents him from causing dire, even fatal, harm to his victims.
* EyeBeams: His Vanir-Style Death Ray. However, it burns his eyes after using it, so he hasn't actually used it before. He ends up using it when Wiz angers him with her bad business decisions.
* EyesOutOfSight: The top half of his face is always covered by a DominoMask.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: When Kazuma's party manages to corner him, Vanir accepts his defeat with good grace and allows Megumin's Explosion to blow up his mask, as he finds that better than being exorcised by Aqua.
* FakingTheDead: He was killed as far as anyone in the Devil King's army knows.
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: An odd example, in that everything about his current appearance is something he created to somewhat appear normal, even the mask is something he is just possessing. His real body is still in Hell.
* FortuneTeller: He can use his divination powers of foresight to see the future of others. He'll typically do so via cryptic words, rather than just tell them what will happen, [[ItAmusedMe because that'll just be boring]]. [[BlatantLies He also totally needs you to answer a series of embarrassing questions for the divination to work and not just touch his crystal ball.]]
* GracefulLoser: He's a rather good sport about being defeated by Kazuma's party and losing one of his masks to Megumin's Explosion.
* GrandTheftMe: He can possess people by forcibly applying his mask to their faces.
* {{Greed}}: Subverted. Despite that his foresight ability would be incredibly useful in making tons of money, allowing him to easily finance the construction of the dungeon of his dreams, he refuses to do so knowing that ultimately nothing good will come from abusing his power in such a way. He is completely flabbergasted that Aqua, a goddess, does not understand that.
* HeelFaceTurn: After his first mask is destroyed, he quits maintaining the Demon King's barrier and works at Wiz's shop instead.
* HeyYou: He never calls people by their name, instead just addressing them with very long-winded, disturbingly detailed, and frequently embarrassing descriptors, aside from a few of his demonic peers. He generally calls Wiz "incompetent shopkeeper", only [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness using her actual name]] when [[spoiler:trying to stop her from letting Aqua exorcise her.]]
* HorrifyingTheHorror: When he possessed Darkness, her masochism scared the hell out of him.
* HypercompetentSidekick: He's the one who keeps Wiz's business going somehow. Without him, Wiz can only drag her shop deeper in the red.
* HypocriticalHumor: Considers Kazuma to be the strangest person he has ever met, this coming from the Devil who works part-time at a shop and is technically just a mask.
* ImplacableMan: Is surprisingly tough and when he possesses Darkness he is nearly invincible.
* InsultBackfire: He preaches to the Axis cultists that Aqua is really a nuisance who does nothing but laze around and eat and drink. They actually take this as a compliment, since Aqua teaches that people should eat, drink, and enjoy themselves when they can as one of the Axis Cult's tenets.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's undoubtedly a {{troll}} of the highest order who often manipulates situations to cause maximum humiliation to his victims, friend or foe. He also often goes out of his way to aid those whom he has acknowledged as his friend.
* LargeHam: He ''always'' speaks in a theatrical used-car salesman manner.
* MarionetteMaster: He creates an army of dolls.
* MaskOfPower: His mask is his actual body (the man seemingly wearing it is just animated dirt), and it can possess and empower those who wear it. He also sells lookalike masks, which [[spoiler:Kazuma uses to hide his identity while thieving with Chris.]]
* MightMakesRight: He and his fellow devils follow this philosophy. The strong stands on top, and the weak are there to be used by the strong. That said, while he does believe in this, he is not above using loopholes to protect those weaker than him.
* MindRape: Anyone he possesses are said to experience severe mental trauma if they resist. Pity for him he tried to take over [[TooKinkyToTorture Darkness]].
* MirrorCharacter: From Kazuma; their inner narration isn't so far apart, with both of them having witty comments towards the oddities surrounding them. The only real difference is that Vanir tends to keep his retorts to himself, while Kazuma can't help but comment on it. [[WordOfGod As confirmed by the author]], Vanir and Wiz's friendship is meant to be a reflection of Kazuma and Aqua's: a StraightMan who gets driven up the walls by a ditzy woman he's stuck with, and for some reason their relationship will [[PlatonicLifePartners never evolve to a romantic one]].
* MonsterClown: Has this appearance, with his mask and suit, but doesn't quite act in a clown-ish manner, unless you count the trolling, which is supposed to amuse and feed him.
* MortonsFork: Has to choose between being beaten by Aqua's holy magic or Megumin's Explosion. The former would be more disgraceful for devils, so he picks the latter.
* MundaneUtility: Uses his clairvoyance to cheat in card games.
-->'''Vanir:''' Alright, then allow Moi to go first. Oho~, it seems that Moi have safely accrued a pair. Oho~, another pair? Eheh~, what is happening here!? Has Moi completed all the pairs in a single turn? Then Moi shall take what you bet.
* NobleDemon: Always keeps his word no matter what. While he may use people for personal gain, he would also help them in his own cryptic way as well. Even though he may say that he follows his race's philosophy of MightMakesRight, he'll use loopholes to help those in need. Although he's well aware and admits he'll likely have a much easier time gathering the funds needed to make the dungeon of his dreams without Wiz's help, he made a promise to Wiz to fulfill his dream together and so sticks with her no matter what.
* NoLoveForTheWicked: He repeatedly emphasizes that devils like himself have no sexuality or romantic inclinations.
* NominalVillain: Even though he's a general of the Demon King, he doesn't do anything truly evil and just enjoys being a {{Troll}} for the most part.
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: He's the most comedic of the Demon King's generals, and that's saying something. However, he is still a duke of hell, defeats Wiz in her backstory, temporarily turns Darkness into a skilled LightningBruiser when possessing her, and doesn't stay dead after his first defeat. Fortunately, he makes a HeelFaceTurn and is no longer an enemy.
* NotWorthKilling:
** Despite initially being hostile towards Aqua and wanting to kill her due to Arch-Devils being enemies of the gods, after his defeat he gave up all desires to harm her. The reason is because Aqua is such an antithesis to how he expects gods to act that he refuses to see her as one.
** This is Kazuma's first reaction when they meet. He seemed rather self-serving (i.e., not very loyal to the Demon King), and openly admitted that he didn't want to harm anyone (except for Aqua).
* OnlySaneMan: Even being a duke of hell, he considers the town he resides in to be strange. Especially when interacting with people like Wiz and Aqua.
* OtherworldlyAndSexuallyAmbiguous: He takes the form of a man for convenience, but he claims that he doesn't actually have a gender because demons lack that concept.
* PetTheDog:
** Though he does use her as free labour and to help him with random schemes, his promise to be Yunyun's friend is actually mostly genuine, and he is seen hanging out with her, Dust and Wiz on many occasions.
** The Dust spinoff shows that he helps out Dust with his problems just as often as he teases him, with Dust genuinely respecting him.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Wiz. The pair live together, work together, and both have promised to remain at the other's side. Wiz has admitted she won't marry someone until Vanir first achieves his dream (because she doesn't want to divide her attention between the most important people in her life). That being said: Wiz still seeks someone to romantically love and Vanir tries to encourage her whenever she takes interest in someone.
* PokeThePoodle: His EvilPlan is basically just a prank; he wants to make adventurers kill him in an epic battle and then delight himself with seeing them disappointed when they find out there's no reward in his dungeon.
* {{Precognition}}: His main power is seeing the past and future, though he uses it more for trolling than anything else.
* RedBaron: ''The Devil of Clairvoyance''.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: His eye marks turn into [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glowing red]] when he's using his clairvoyance, or about to fire his EyeBeams.
* SarcasticDevotee: To Wiz. He insults her for being an incompetent shopkeeper who wastes all of their money on useless magic items, to the point of frequently blasting her with his laser beams. Despite that, he will never quit working with her.
* ShapeshifterDefaultForm: His physical body in the mortal realm is only a mask. He mainly takes the form of a handsome man in a suit, but he can alter his appearance as he wishes (usually for {{Troll}}ing motives).
* ShapeshiftingSeducer: One of his most epic {{Troll}} moves is transforming into a sexy succubus for a BeautyContest and then turn back to his normal self so he can revel in the male audience's shock and anger. Also, more seriously, [[spoiler:he takes Darkness' appearance in order to trick Alderp into finally freeing Maxwell from his contract.]]
* SitcomArchNemesis: His relationship with Aqua is basically bickering neighbors. The two are constantly arguing and fighting whenever they are near each other.
* TheSocialDarwinist: Being a demon, he firmly believes it's only natural for the strong to trample over the weak. For that reason, he refuses to help those who aren't even willing to fight for themselves.
* SummonBiggerFish: The non-exploding Vanir Dolls that he sells as a form of home security essentially enable his customers to invoke this. The dolls ward off demons and evil spirits based on their fear and respect of the Duke of Hell, and are one of the most popular items sold at Wiz's shop. Kazuma lampshades that owning a semi-sentient doll that laughs in the middle of the night isn't much better than having your home possessed by an evil spirit.
* {{Telepathy}}: He has the power to read minds and typically uses this ability to expose embarrassing secrets.
* TemptingFate: He once jokingly told Wiz that she would have needed to learn Explosion magic if she wanted to get rid of one of his lives. Years later, he indeed loses his first life to Megumin's Explosion.
* ThisCannotBe: When he finds out that Darkness actually ''enjoys'' the pain he causes her for resisting the possession.
* ThouShallNotKill: Towards humans because he feeds off their negative emotions. Killing them will just make good food go to waste. While harming and killing them may provide with great negative emotions, he still refuses to do so since he has no taste for despair. The only human to ever force him to break this rule was [[spoiler:Wiz prior to her becoming a lich.]]
* {{Troll}}
** His EvilPlan is to renovate a dungeon to be extremely rigged and difficult, and then fight the adventurers at the bottom with the promise of great treasure awaiting them. After losing, he will drop a chest containing a slip of paper [[AWinnerIsYou thanking them for their patronage]], just to create a ShaggyDogStory for the adventurers and feed on their negative emotions.
** Also [[spoiler:he disguised himself as a sexy succubus during the festival then subsequently revealed himself, much to the onlookers chagrin.]]
** He seems to take a liking to Luna and even takes over her stressful job for a day so she can rest. This almost seems like a ShipTease and causes the onlookers to see Vanir in a different light, until he reveals that he got close to her and listened to her complaints in order to absorb her negative emotions. Needless to say, everyone in the building flipped out at the revelation.
** When he first met Wiz and her party, he pretended to die and then revealed he was still alive the moment they teleported out of the dungeon, forcing them to spend over a week to traverse his dungeon if they want to fight him again. Needless to say, he effortlessly [[NoSell No Sells]] all their attempts to kill him while humiliating them further.
** One night, he tells Kazuma that he plans to climb to the top of an Axis church and replace its holy symbol with a [[FreudWasRight sensually-shaped radish]].
* UndyingLoyalty: Leaving Wiz to accomplish his dream quicker has never been a serious option to him. In Volume 13, Vanir assures her that he will accompany her until they finally accomplish his dream, even if it takes thousands of years to do so.
* VideogameLives: He can come back to life as long as he has spare masks. After Megumin Explodes him, his mask from then on has a numeral "II".
* VillainsOutShopping: After his initial defeat he is noted for doing mundane tasks around town like scaring away crows for his neighbors.
* VirginShaming: He sometimes makes fun of Wiz's single status, greatly annoying her as a result.
* WildCard: He's not evil and often gives Kazuma hints and advice which ultimately proves beneficial sometime during his current adventure, but everything he does is ultimately for his own benefit, and he's on no one's side but his own.
* WorthyOpponent: The only human that he's recognized by name is Wiz.
* YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe: His manner of speech is slightly odd to put it lightly.

The head waitress and receptionist at the Axel Adventurers' Guild.
----
* AdaptationalHairstyleChange: The light novels and anime depict her with her hair tied back in a bun. In the main series' manga, she has loose hair and wears a bonnet.
* AdaptationalModesty: In the light novels and anime, she wears skimpy clothes that reveal her shoulders, cleavage and legs. In the main series' manga, she wears a modest maid dress that shows little to no skin.
* BearerOfBadNews: She tends to become this for Kazuma and Aqua when completing a quest.
* BerserkButton: She really dislikes it when people bring up her single status.
* CoolBigSis: She has a big sisterly aura about her and tries to act as a calming sister figure for adventurers and her coworkers.
* GreenEyedMonster: She really doesn't like hearing about her coworkers in other towns getting married.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: Her shirt reveals her shoulders and most of her bust.
* ManipulativeBitch: Starts to show this side of her in volume 11, blatantly manipulating the adventurers into taking the quests that no one has picked, as well as exploiting certain characters' weaknesses (i.e. Komekko's love of food or Kazuma's perverseness) so that they do what she wants.
* MarriedToTheJob: She's very concerned that she's still single, mostly due to having to handle all the troublesome adventurers at the guild and having to work overtime, which takes a toll on her romantic prospects.
* MissionControl: When a city-wide disaster occurs, she utilizes an announcement system to relay information and instructions.
* MsFanservice: The anime loves to show her impressive chest [[MaleGaze from various angles]].
* OddFriendship: She's on good terms with Vanir despite him previously being a member of the Demon King's army and a Devil.
* QuestGiver: Her main duty is to manage the requests board and alert adventurers to emergency quests.
* ShootTheMessenger: A heavily downplayed example, but the fact that she keeps giving Aqua bad news has led to her becoming the target of abuse from the goddess.
* WomanScorned: Puts out a bounty on Vanir after he pulls his usual routine on her to get some negative emotions to eat.

[[folder:In General]]
* ADayInTheLimeLight: While Dust usually has the most prominence, in the light novel and manga adaptation, Kazuma adventures with all but Dust when he switches parties with Dust for a day. In the spin-offs works, the other three, especially Lynn, are given additional focus.
* CivvieSpandex: Their attire is rather odd for a medieval fantasy setting. Keith and Lynn both sport modern-looking jackets complete with pockets and zippers, and Taylor wears a collared shirt with a green tie under his armor.
* DemotedToExtra: Their focus chapter that happens early in the story never made it into the Anime, and as a result many of their qualities and overall impact on the plot were cut from the adaptation. Taylor and Lynn are hit especially hard by it, as they aren't given any real dialogue beyond background chatter.
* EverybodyKnewAlready: Keith and Taylor had already pieced together that Dust was [[spoiler:formerly a member of nobility, due to his blond hair, unnatural ([[OohMeAccentsSlipping forced]]) way of speaking, and high starting stats,]] but didn't delve any deeper because they felt it was a sensitive topic. Only Lynn was particularly interested in learning more about his past, if only because she was annoyed he was hiding something from them.
* FighterMageThief: About as classic of an example as you can get. Taylor serves as the front-line MightyGlacier, Lynn doubles as both a GlassCannon and SupportPartyMember with her mix of offensive and defensive magic, and Keith is your typical FragileSpeedster archer.
* {{Foil}}: To Kazuma's party. They make up a well-balanced 4-man team of rookie adventurers, but lack the crippling-overspecialization traits of Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness.

A delinquent adventurer who always causes trouble for the guild and his party. First encountered by Kazuma resulting in a short lived swapping of their parties.

* AerithAndBob: Alongside rather normal Anglo-Celtic names like Taylor, Lynn, and Keith. This foreshadows the fact that [[spoiler:it's actually an alias picked more out of RuleOfCool than to have a convincing "commoner's" name]].
* AscendedExtra: He goes from being a minor reoccurring character in the main series to the star of his own 7-volume spin-off. Interesting enough, this all got kickstarted with Megumin's spinoff [[{{Foreshadowing}} dropping hints]] about his past.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: He takes Kazuma's place in the party for a day thinking he's going to experience the life of a BattleHarem protagonist. One encounter with the Rookie Killer later and he's begging to switch back to his old team.
* BornUnlucky: All his stats are top-notch except for his Luck, which is said to be second only to Aqua's for how low it is.
* TheCharmer: Despite his reputation, Dust has a uncanny ability to manipulate people to going along with his schemes through flattery.
* CrazyJealousGuy: In Volume 7, Dust convinces Kazuma to help him stalk a noble because he believes that the noble is dating his fellow party member Lynn. [[spoiler:Said noble actually had an obsessive crush on ''Dust.'']] Otherwise he seems oblivious to his own feelings for Lynn.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Chris/[[spoiler:Eris]] claims that his stupid behavior seems like an act. [[spoiler:It is heavily implied that he is in fact a Dragon Knight from another country who was renowned as the master of the spear.]]
* CynicismCatalyst: [[spoiler:"Kidnapping" Princess Leonore]] did a number on his psyche and made him realize that [[spoiler:nobility and etiquette were just a farce]].

Comes to a head in his spin-off's last volume, where the Demon King's commander finds herself strangely infatuated with him [[spoiler:only for her to be revealed to be an [[{{Weredragon}} elder dragon in human form]].]]
* {{Foil}}: Towards Kazuma. They share [[FirstPersonSmartass similar temperaments]], but most of [[CosmicPlayThing Kazuma's misfortune]] comes from the antics of his party while Dust's comes from his own vices. And later, while Kazuma manages to get rich through his own hard work, Dust's {{Get Rich Quick Scheme}}s and LaboriousLaziness tend to only end with him penniless.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: His blond hair is notable in that [[spoiler:it is typically a trait exclusive to nobility, implying Dust may have been much higher up the social ladder than anyone first assumed, which would be confirmed in ''Explosions'' Volume 3. While his name and background are hidden in a conversation overheard by Yunyun, long before his spotlight chapter in ''Explosions Continued'', Dust is later revealed to be an exiled Dragon Knight, forced to leave his home after he gave a princess a ride on his dragon.]]
* TheFriendNobodyLikes:
** Gets juggled back and forth between being this and VitriolicBestBuds with both his party and the rest of the Adventure's Guild.
** Yunyun kind of goes back and forth with it. She initially denied the idea of ever being friends with him due to Dust tricking her into being an accomplice in one of his crimes, but she still finds herself hanging out with him.
** Dust initially butted heads with Kazuma, but after spending a day with Kazuma's party he gained a begrudging respect for Kazuma. The two wind up becoming drinking buddies. Note, that in Volume 3, when Kazuma is asked if Dust is his friend...the lie detector does not go off to "An acquaintance."
* TheGreatestStoryNeverTold: [[spoiler:During the Demon King Army's invasion of Axel, he fought an Elder Dragon with Lynn while riding atop his own dragon Faitfore. However, neither he or his party can talk about what happened without revealing his and Faitfore's identities, which causes everyone to assume he just hid for most of the battle.]]
* HaremSeeker: One of the initial reasons he's antagonistic towards Kazuma is because he views him as being in the center of a BattleHarem, something which Dust himself would like to have. When he trades parties with Kazuma for a day, he realizes just how much of a nightmare it is actually being in Kazuma's party. In Volume 2 of his own spinoff, Dust temporarily achieves this with a makeshift party of himself, his normal party member Lynn, and [[GuestStarPartyMember Yunyun and the Loli Succubus.]] Again, he quickly realizes the downside of this type of party composition because quickly the topic of conversation turns to the three girls [[GossipyHens trading stories on Dust's vices]].
* HeroesPreferSwords: Being of the warrior class his is a sword. [[spoiler:Though Chris notes that his movements and stance resembles a spear wielder more.]]
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Dust ended up becoming TheHero of his own spin-off LightNovel Series, appropriately titled ''[[ADayInTheLimelight A Time in the Limelight]] [[IdiotHero for this Fool, Too!]]''
* HisStoryRepeatsItself: [[spoiler:Volume 3 of his spinoff has him giving a lonely princess (Iris) a ride on a dragon to cheer her up, the same exact act which got him banished from his country.]]
* HorrifyingTheHorror: His talent at being a conniving scumbag either impresses or frightens actual devils.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: It gets confirmed in his spin-off that a lot of Dust's incompetence comes down to him just being a poor swordsman in general. [[spoiler:When given a lance, he becomes a OneManArmy.]]
* InVinoVeritas: Kazuma tends to share secrets with him when he's drunk, such as the incident with the succubus. [[FridgeLogic This is probably why Dust thinks they're friends even though Kazuma is being truthful when he denies it]].
* ItIsDehumanizing: Megumin doesn't even acknowledge him by name in her spinoff, simply calling him "that thing".
* ItMayHelpYouOnYourQuest: Before the final battle, Dust lends Kazuma his magic sword so that he has a weapon that harm the demon king. [[spoiler:It has a one-time protective enchantment that blocks a fatal attack at the cost of breaking, which saves Kazuma from one of the Demon King's attacks.]]
* JapaneseDelinquents: Acts likes this, and the guild treats him like one. Is a fairly frequent resident in the local jail because of his behavior.
* LasciviousBeautyMark: He has a mole under his left eye and is possibly the most perverted man in all of Axel, surpassing even Kazuma in his lecherous antics.
* LeeroyJenkins: In Volume 2 of his spinoff, during a mission to defeat a Hydra organized by Kazuma, Dust decides to break ranks when he sees an opening to cut off the Hydra's head hoping to take the bounty entirely for himself. [[LaserGuidedKarma He ends up getting eaten.]] Aqua thankfully ends up resurrecting him.
* LovableSexManiac: He openly revels in being a pervert, such as trying to steal the waitresses' panties in Season 2 Episode 3 after Kazuma uses ''Steal'' again on Chris, and peeps on Axel's public baths.
* MrViceGuy: As pointed out by his party-member Lynn, Dust would actually be a successful adventurer if he wasn't so lazy. His tendency to resort to get rich quick schemes constantly bites him in the ass.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: During his unfortunate stint with Kazuma's party he managed to single handily drive off the Rookie Killer with nothing but Megumin's staff, [[spoiler:which he used as an improvised spear]].
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness:
** When Faitfore (literally) falls into his lap, everyone in Axel is incredibly disturbed that Dust, who is normally a greedy LazyBum, would work so hard to take care of an unrelated child with no strings attached.
* PerpetualPoverty: He's constantly in dire financial straits due to his frequent mishaps. It gets to the point where he sometimes purposely gets himself arrested just to get free food and a roof over his head.
* ProperlyParanoid: In Volume 5 of his spinoff (which takes place at the same time as Volume 15 of the main series), his past experiences with priests makes him wary of Serena and her charitability. [[spoiler: As a result, he's one of the few adventurers in Axel who manages to avoid becoming one of her puppets.]]
* TheResenter: Initially towards both Kazuma and Mitsurugi due to them both apparently having [[BattleHarem Battle Harems]]. Though his later first-hand experience with how troublesome both harems actually are leads him to have a begrudging respect for both.
* TookALevelInKindness: The second volume of Dust's spinoff has toned down his vices quite a bit. He's less of a schemer and overall terrible person, and acts generally friendlier to his guildmates. His past begrudging respect towards Kazuma has now even become genuine and after a successful mission, even promises to treat Kazuma for once to their next drinking party.
* WillfullyWeak: [[spoiler:He only appears weak due to promising a certain princess to only use a sword as an adventurer. When he grasps a spear, he proves that the tales about him were no exaggerations.]]
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: [[spoiler:Despite his horrible reputation, the disgust of his peers, and his own firm belief that his delinquent self is his true self, Eris notes that he has a ridiculously high amount of good karma from his time as a Dragon Knight, which is not something which would just happen if he was only fulfilling his duty as a Knight.]]

However, in the anime scene where the male adventurers of Axel rally to assault the Destroyer, he can be seen clutching a fistful of Succubus shop coupons along with Keith and Dust.
* TheBigGuy: He's the party's front-line tank.
* {{Foil}}: Taylor serves as one to Darkness from Kazuma's team. While both are devout followers of the Eris Faith, Darkness is TooKinkyToTorture and [[ATeamFiring can't hit the broadside of a barn.]] Taylor meanwhile is very straight laced, to the point Dust and Keith worry what would happen should he learn of the Succubus Club, and is a full fledged tank for his team.
* {{Hunk}}: He's very tall and rather well-built.
* TheLeader: He's the leader of his party.
* ReligiousBruiser: Like Darkness, Taylor is a Crusader who follows the teachings of the Eris Sect. 481----
* ACupAngst: Dust is constantly making fun of her small breast size.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: The people of Axel unilaterally designated Lynn as Dust's guardian. Whenever someone has a problem regarding Dust, they go to her. Whenever Dust is arrested, she's the one who picks him up from jail.
* DistaffCounterpart: For Kazuma. She has brown hair and green eyes identical to his and wears green sports modern-looking attire that makes her stick out in Konosuba's high fantasy setting. In the same way Kazuma is his party's only guy, Lynn is her party's only girl. She's also the person that the townsfolk go to whenever Dust and Keith cause a ruckus, the same way Kazuma is called on to deal with Aqua and Darkness.
* IdenticalStranger: She happens to look exactly like [[spoiler:Princess Leonore]] with differently-colored hair and smaller breasts. This is one of the reasons Dust chooses to join her party.
* LittleBitBeastly: Lynn has a raccoon-like tail, but lacks the classic animal ears to go with it.
* PrinceAndPauper: In Volume 6 of Dust's spinoff, she switches places with [[spoiler:Princess Leonore]] because the latter wants to experience life as an adventurer and the former wants to learn more about Dust's past. 505One of the employees of the Succubus Cafe that services male adventurers in Axel.
----
* MsFanservice: She's a very sexy and voluptuous wearing very revealing lingerie.
* PointyEars: She has long and pointed ears.
* WalkingSwimsuitScene: Her outfit looks like a string bikini.

A rookie succubus who takes the form of a young girl. After nearly getting exorcised at Kazuma's house, she frequently gets roped into Dust or Vanir's shenanigans.
----
* AgeInappropriateDress: She wears a highly erotic and risque lingerie-esque outfit, but it looks extremely inappropriate in her prepubescent body, compared to the more voluptuous succubi at the shop.
* AscendedExtra: Becomes a major supporting character in the Dust spin-off.
* ADayInTheLimelight: She gets a lot more attention in the SpinOff novels, ''Consulting With This Masked Devil!'' and ''A Limelight On This Fool Too!''.
* DeadlyNosebleed: Upon glimpsing "nudes" of Vanir, she experienced one potent {{nosebleed}} enough to deplete one of her VideoGameLives.
* {{Fangirl}}: She is ''devoted'' to Vanir, who hardly seems to register her.
* {{Flight}}: Her wings allow her to fly.
* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: Surprisingly (or perhaps unsurprisingly, given the setting), she's kind-hearted and naïve for a succubus who weaves {{erotic dream}}s for a living and feeds off of humans to survive.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: She wears a strapless one-piece dress, exposing her shoulders, collarbone and a bit of cleavage.
* InterspeciesFriendship: She becomes fast friends with Yunyun and Lynn, which also makes her the first succubus from the cafe to have human friends outside of their clientele.
* LotusEaterMachine: One of the applications of combining her Sleep spell with her innate DreamWeaver abilities.
* MercurysWings: She has small pink bat wings sprouting from the top of her head.
* MindRape: The ''other'' application of combining the Sleep Spell with her DreamWeaver abilities. Dust has her use her powers on a would-be rapist to make him experience being [[BlackComedyRape assaulted by]] [[OutWithABang Female Orcs.]]
* OlderThanSheLooks: She may be young for a ''succubus,'' but she's stated to be considerably older than the rest of the human cast despite looking around the same age as Megumin.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Dust gives her the pseudonym [[PunnyName "Lolisa"]] for when she's in the company of humans who don't know about the Succubus cafe. He picked that name specifically so he would have an excuse if he accidentally starts to call her Loli Succubus in public.
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:Lolisa is one of two people, the other being Lynn, who learns about Dust's past as a Dragon Knight. He revealed it to her in the 6th volume of his spin-off since he had been keeping several of her secrets up to that point as well.]]
* StockingFiller: She wears a garter belt and stockings.
* SupportPartyMember: Succubi might be poor fighters on their own, but their ability to cast debilitating spells such as Sleep, Charm, and Paralyze makes Loli Succubus a useful addition to Dust's party.
* TokenMiniMoe: Unlike other succubi that are hot and sexy adult women, Lolisa is a small and cute young-looking girl.
* WithholdingTheirName: As a lesser demon, she doesn't reveal her true name so [[IKnowYourTrueName mortals can't rope her into unwanted contracts]].
* WoundedGazelleGambit: Dust teaches her to do this in order to exploit people falling under TheDulcineaEffect.

A royal prosecutor of Belzerg who is stationed at Axel.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: In the anime. While not completely on the villainous side to begin with in the light novel (despite being willing to execute a death sentence on Kazuma), Sena is actually willing to let Kazuma off in the anime's season two, having admitted she was mistaken, and clearly intimidated by his mannerisms... until the overconfident Kazuma answers "No" to "I have not associated with anyone in the Demon King's army", having forgotten he associated himself with Wiz.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: She blames Megumin's frequent use of Explosion magic, which she attributes to Kazuma, for triggering massive damage to the landscape, altering the town's ecosystem, and ''causing excessive noise pollution''.
* BadCopIncompetentCop: Without any physical evidence, or solid testimony, she arrests, interrogates, and harasses Kazuma at every turn, for ''suspicion'' of being a Demon King agent during Volume 3, automatically accusing him of causing Axel's woes. It takes him [[spoiler:defeating Vanir in front of her]] at the end of Volume 3 to make her stop. She was even happily arguing for a death sentence against him at the start of Volume 3, [[NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished because he was the one leading the fight to save the town from The Destroyer at the end of Volume 2]]. Heck, when the adventurer's guild actually stands up for Kazuma, she threatens to arrest all of them too.
-->"A few extra arrests don't bother me."
* TheComicallySerious: What does Sena do after she finishes hearing the third testimony in the court set for Kazuma's case? Make a BoobsAndButtPose ''while'' saying "Thank you very much."
* DirtyCop: [[spoiler:She agrees to turn a blind eye to the activities of the Succubus shop in exchange for using their services to live out her Yaoi fantasies in her dreams, as well as subtly influence the dreams of the other patrons so they find her more attractive.]]
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: The way Sena emerges out of a frog which swallowed her and Aqua whole in Season 2 Episode 2 looks like she's having an orgasm (complete with breasts bouncing).
* EveryoneHasStandards: In the anime, she’s clearly not happy about Alderp trying to force the verdict.
* InsaneTrollLogic: Her "evidence" against Kazuma essentially boils down to this. The ''only'' claim she makes that has any arguable merit is how Kazuma knows Drain Touch, a spell normally only used by undead and demons. Even the ''judge'' realizes how ridiculous her claims are and would have acquitted Kazuma right then and there if not for Alderp rigging things.
* IsItAlwaysLikeThis: She asks this when supervising Kazuma's party, in light of their bizarre way of eliminating Giant Toads.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Any competent attorney or law enforcement official would be rightfully suspicious of someone with Kazuma's reputation, especially considering all the [[AbominationAccusationAttack rumors]] surrounding him. The fact that most of the town's problems in Volume 3 ''were'' directly or indirectly linked to the actions of Kazuma's party did not help.
* LawfulStupid: What convinced Sena that Kazuma is a minion of the Demon King and deserves death? The fact that Kazuma ordered Wiz to use "random teleport" on the destroyer's [[FantasticNuke Corotonite power core]]. Which, by pure chance, happened to appear in Lord's house. She never even considered that this was Kazuma's ''best'' option available, actually resulted in absolutely zero deaths (which is an amazing accomplishment considering the town was fighting a machine that exterminated an entire country), and anything else would, most likely, have destroyed everyone and everything in the entire town, ''including the lord's mansion'' with no time to evacuate, or have been set off in some place far more delicate, because all of Wiz's marked teleport locations were currently heavily populated. Sena never even considered the possibility of a plea bargain, or leniency due to extenuating circumstances, even when these were pointed out.
* LieDetector: What she uses to interrogate who she is prosecuting. Unfortunately, since she relies on it so much to obtain evidence, Sena almost ends up causing Kazuma getting executed... until he argues in the KangarooCourt (in presence of the lie detector) he was, indeed, not guilty of the charges pressed against him. Even the judge [[LampshadeHanging calls the device "unreliable"]] during the court.
* NoIndoorVoice: She's always screaming out Kazuma's name at the top of her voice when delivering a court summons.
-->'''Sena:''' SATOU KAZUMA! IS SATOU KAZUMA HERE!?
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: Purely on the "evidence" of her magical {{lie detector}} device, she presumes Kazuma is guilty of being a Demon King agent, and pushes for the death penalty in court. Though this is a KangarooCourt we're talking about, run by Axel's mayor, [[AristocratsAreEvil Lord Alderp]]. However, Sena softens as she supervices Kazuma's heroic actions, and her opinion of him [[HeelFaceTurn finally does a 180° turn]] after he helps defeat Vanir in her presence, exonerating Kazuma of all charges.
** Slides, however, into CorruptBureaucrat territory in the Dust spinoff — Sena doesn't hesitate to abuse her position in order to receive the services of the Succubus shop free of charge.
* PunchClockVillain: She can be considered one as she is Kazuma's prosecutor, but other than that, she's simply doing her job, making her allingment neutral. She's also [[HeelFaceTurn on Kazuma's side]] once he defeats Vanir.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She's kind and friendly to everyone who is not her prime suspect.
* ReassignedToAntarctica: She was assigned to Axel after falsely accusing Zesta of sabotaging the city. The Arch Priest made sure to tell her not to falsely accuse anyone else of treason, and we all know how well that turned out.
* StoicSpectacles: She wears glasses, and generally acts calm and professional during her job.
* TsurimeEyes: More slanted than those of [[{{Chuunibyou}} Megumin]], and they highlight her "no-nonsense" nature.
* WomanScorned: In the Dust spinoff she's gotten so frustrated with her single status that she becomes president of "The Association to Protect Women's Chances of Marriage," and leads a witch hunt to smoke out and destroy the Succubus Cafe.
* YaoiFangirl: Dust finds this out the hard way, when he hastily comes up with the excuse that Axel is a hotspot for gays in an attempt to keep the true nature of the Succubus Cafe a secret.
-->'''Sena:''' It seems to be the truth. But, there have been occasions where this magic item has reacted strangely... It isn’t ideal to rely solely on this. So, could you give me proof that you really like men? This is necessary to the investigation. [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial It’s definitely]] [[BlatantLies not because I personally want to see it.]]
** According to her female coworkers, this is the REAL reason why she's still single — the kind of straight-laced guys who would go for a serious workaholic like her and agree to a marriage meeting end up getting thrown for a loop when they discover her true personality.

Another Japanese man Aqua sent to this world prior to Kazuma. A handsome, noble hero — the complete opposite of Kazuma.
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Upon encountering him in the castle some time after their initial meeting, Kazuma's internal narration recalled his name as Matsuragi at first, then referred to him as Katsuragi after that. Has crossed the line to MaliciousMisnaming among the fandom, who rarely refer to him by his real surname, even on official popularity contest entries.
* BeCarefulWhatYouSay: He said to Kazuma that he will have anything he wants if he defeated him... 10 minutes later he regrets it.
* ButtMonkey: Whenever his adventures intersects with Kazuma. He's generally a heroic and well-meaning fellow, with a long list of successful achievements and admirers, which makes his bumbling around Kazuma even more hilarious.
* ChickMagnet: He is accompanied by two girls who constantly vie for his attention; one a warrior and the other a thief. Cecily considered him attractive enough to be her MealTicket.
* TheChosenOne: Played with. Kyouya believes Aqua specifically chose him to save the world. In truth, [[ButForMeItWasTuesday not only had she forgotten him due to having sent too many Japanese to the world to even bother with their names]], but she also reveals that her "summon" were just generic stock lines.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Deconstructed. Like the usual light novel/anime protagonist that he parodies, if he can, he'll try to help, needed or not. While he genuinely means well, girls who are not interested see him as a narcissistic creep. He also acts very selfishly, forcing his views onto Kazuma because he sees himself as the protagonist, so in his mind he has to be right. Kyouya's very quick to use violence when Kazuma protests against him trying to steal his party from underneath him, and has no guilt about this since he convinces himself that Kazuma is ''obviously'' unworthy of his team and Aqua's favor.
* CripplingOverspecialization: His weapon-focused skill set and swordsman character class are entirely devoted to boosting the effectiveness of his sword Gram. Without his sword, he's nothing more than a novice adventurer with expensive armor.
* DeconstructiveParody: He's ''such'' a walking stereotype of the StockLightNovelHero, in particular those in the ''isekai'' (TrappedInAnotherWorld) genre, that Kazuma can easily predict his actions.
* DependingOnTheArtist: In the Light Novels he actually looks very similar to Kazuma, to drive the point further home that he is Kazuma's antithesis personified; the anime gave him more of a heroic build, different hair color and eyes.
* DoggedNiceGuy: Deconstructed. His feelings towards Aqua is akin to honest devotion and unrequited affection. He constantly tries to convince her to leave Kazuma and showers her with various gifts from time to time. His unwanted attempts creep out Aqua even further, and she ultimately wants nothing to do with him. He finds it difficult to accept that Kazuma is Aqua's heroic champion, and Kyouya defeating the Demon King before Kazuma does threatens her chance to return home.
** What sets him above most examples of this trope is that he doesn't go out of his way to demonize Kazuma to get him out of the way and puts his job as a hero before seducing Aqua.
* TheDulcineaEffect: His tendency to do this creeps out Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness. It disgusts Kazuma as well, since he knows their true personalities, and finds Kyouya insufferable to believe he's victimizing or taking advantage of them.
* {{Expy}}: He's wearing equipment that makes him look like Roto/Erdrick of ''VideoGame/DragonQuest''. His armor looks like [[https://dragonquest.fandom.com/wiki/Erdrick%27s_armour Erdrick's armour]] and his sword Gram looks a lot like [[https://dragonquest.fandom.com/wiki/Erdrick%27s_sword Erdrick's sword]]. It's very likely deliberate on his part.
* {{Foil}}: He is the complete opposite of Kazuma – a handsome, naïve, and idealistic hero who lives and breathes fantasy tropes and is having an easier time with his "cheat item".
* GlassCannon: With his Gram, he can single-handedly tackle high-level monsters like dragons. Without his Gram, Kyouya is a complete nobody who is knocked out by a tap on his head.
* GracefulLoser: Downplayed. While he accepts that Kazuma won their duel and sticks up for him during the trial, he's not too happy about losing Gram, his only means of surviving in this world.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: He was sent to the fantasy world before Kazuma, successfully adventuring and gaining fame for an unspecified amount of time. He's slain powerful monsters and acquired a loyal harem in the process. Unfortunately for him, he mistakenly believes that he is the hero of the story, which leads him to the PrideBeforeAFall after provoking Kazuma.
* HeroesPreferSwords: Invoked and deconstructed. He wields the legendary sword Gram, but is basically defenseless without it.
* HiddenDepths: In Dust's spin-off, it's implied that he's under a lot of stress being a ChickMagnet with a [[ClingyJealousGirl very belligerent]] BattleHarem, and that he drinks himself to sleep to avoid potential encounters with them.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: He gets knocked out with his own sword after Kazuma uses Steal on it.
* HonorBeforeReason: In contrast to Kazuma's CombatPragmatist.
* HopelessSuitor: Whenever he and Aqua meet, he's trying to garner her romantic favor and steal her away from Kazuma, whom he thinks is abusing her. The best result he can hope for on such occasions is indifference. Even then Aqua has [[CelibateHero no interest in romance whatsoever]] so his attempts were doomed from the start.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: He reveres Aqua as a wise goddess who personally chose him as her champion. [[LazyBum He]] [[LoserDeity couldn't]] [[BrainlessBeauty be]] [[JerkassGods any]] [[ButForMeItWasTuesday more]] [[WeHaveReserves wrong.]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: While he is not totally wrong about some of Kazuma's behaviour, he is not better in most aspects. He only proposes to girls to join his party to feed his ego, wants to use a magic sword that can kill demons and dragons on Kazuma, who is less experienced, but will still call him a cheater when he loses. We can add that he only survives in this world thanks to his GameBreaker sword AND the fact that he knows much about Isekai's hero tropes.
* InfinityPlusOneSword: The Cursed Sword — Gram, the "cheat item" he chose as his reincarnation perk. It's powerful enough to slay a dragon in a single slash. Kyouya used it to complete quests far, far beyond what he's normally capable of, skyrocketing his levels and becoming a famous hero of this world.
* InSeriesNickname: In later volumes, after a RunningGag of {{Accidental|Misnaming}} (and occasionally {{Malicious|Misnaming}}) misnames, Kazuma's party seemingly gives up trying to remember his name and just call him "Magic Sword Guy".
* LegendaryWeapon: Gram is well known for its OneHitKill abilities and was created by the gods to save the world.
* LovingAShadow: He's hopelessly head-over-heels in love with the delusion of what he perceives Aqua as, and is always trying to garner her romantic favor. In reality, not only is she absolutely nothing like his interpretation, but she can't even be bothered to remember who he is, and that's on a ''good'' day.
* LoyalPhlebotinum: Gram only works when Kyouya wields it.
* NiceGuy: His first encounter with Kazuma aside, Kyouya is honestly a good person and wants to help others. His ChronicHeroSyndrome and being overcome by TheDulcineaEffect are what makes him seem like an arrogant jerk. While Kazuma continues to see him as annoying, Kyouya views his counterpart as a WorthyOpponent and will happily lend support if he can.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero:
** By bending open Aqua's safety cage, her 300,000-Eris quest reward for the lake purification was cut to a mere 100,000. Naturally, Aqua is ''not'' too happy about it and punches him with God Blow before demanding compensation.
** He deserves some of the blame for the example displayed on Kazuma's entry too. While taking and selling Gram was a scummy move on Kazuma's part and put the town in danger, Kyouya ''did'' pick a blatantly unfair fight with him[[note]] Kyouya being a Swordsman of a much higher level with superior equipment, versus a rookie Adventurer barely scraping by with default equipment[[/note]] to force him into turning Aqua over to him, completely disregarding her choice on the matter.
* PetTheDog: During Kazuma's trial, Mitsurugi actually tries to stick up for him, though his two female allies weren't as merciful.
** He also makes sure to warn Kazuma that [[spoiler:the Demon King is wary of Aqua's presence in the world (though he apparently doesn't know the specifics)]]. Which is pretty nice of the guy, since prior to that he wanted to get Aqua away from Kazuma, and now he is entrusting him with her safety.
* PowersViaWeapon: His sword Gram is the source of his power. Without it, he's just a normal human like Kazuma.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Despite his two party members [[UnwantedHarem constantly vying for his affection]], he only sees them as comrades rather than love interests, since his true affections lie with Aqua.
* StockLightNovelHero: Kyouya is this character stereotype [[ParodiedTrope taken to the extreme.]] Unlike Kazuma, Kyouya did pick a cheat item (a magic sword) when he was transported to the other world, he's a successful adventurer from the start, and most girls fawn over him. The girls who feel no attraction to him are the ones in Kazuma's party, including Aqua whom he's infatuated with. However, despite being said to be powerful and popular, most of his appearances have him getting humiliatingly defeated by Kazuma, who is an underleveled adventurer compared to him.
* SuperStrength: He's so strong he can bend iron with his hands. It's an enchantment granted to him by Gram.
* UnskilledButStrong: While he's at a very high level wearing all magical equipment, he relies completely on Gram, so once he's deprived of it, he's a complete pushover.
* WhatTheHellHero: After Kyouya tried and failed to duel Kazuma to get Aqua to leave his group, losing Gram in the process, he begs Kazuma to return Gram to him in exchange for another weapon. Aqua in a complete fury gives him a verbal trashing:
-->'''Aqua:''' Using me as a prize without my permission, and asking for your sword back by offering to buy a new sword in exchange, there's no way this deal would work! Or do you think my worth is equal to the most expensive sword in a shop? Insolent fool, insolent! I am a goddess after all. To use me as a betting chip, what the hell were you thinking? I don't want to see your face ever again. Shoo. Hurry up, scram!

The Goddess of Fortune, patron deity of the new world and namesake of the global currency. She is a subordinate of Aqua, ranking lower in the divine hierarchy.
----
* ACupAngst: The issue of her breast size is a pretty sensitive subject for her.
* AdaptationDyeJob: Eris has bright blue eyes in the light novel illustrations. The anime gives her purple eyes instead.
* AdorablyPrecociousChild: How she appears to Kazuma when she's not doing her official duties.
* ArtShift: Episode 9 of season 2 reveals a painted depiction of her in the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Master European Old Master]] style. Said painting features her with [[BlatantLies ample bosom and raven hair]].
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Much like Aqua, its easy for her to lose interest in being a goddess [[spoiler:and adventure as the mortal Chris. Pretending to be mortal is as much a distraction and source of entertainment for Eris]], as alcohol and parties are for Aqua.
* BerserkButton:
** Mentioning her chest size is a good way of making her feel the need to use violence. As [[spoiler:Aegis]] can attest to, not that it really mattered in that circumstance though.
** Devils and the undead. [[spoiler:When she finds out that the noble [[AntiVillain Zereschrute]] is a devil in disguise, she leaves as Chris and returns in her real form to give him a severe thrashing — one that was later revealed to have continued on to several days.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Can be pretty cold once you annoy her enough, which makes some of Aqua's more petty comments about her somewhat plausible.
* BigGood: She is the benevolent patron deity of the world Kazuma is sent to, and continues to be a source of aid for him throughout the series.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: According to Aqua. While the fact it's [[UnreliableNarrator Aqua]] makes this at first somewhat uncertain, it comes to its conclusion when she endlessly beats [[AntiVillain Zereschrute]] despite not being a threat, [[FantasticRacism simply because he's a devil]].
* EndearinglyDorky: Kazuma finds her occasional mischievous actions, and her attempts at using her knowledge of Japan adorable.
* FailedASpotCheck: Aqua's physical appearance, divine aura, and personality hadn't changed after being banished, yet Eris failed to realize the healer travelling with Kazuma was her immediate superior. Evidently she assumed it was an Axis cultist who dressed like the real Aqua.
* FakeBoobs: According to Aqua and [[spoiler:Dust]], she apparently uses pads.
* FantasticRacism: Towards her major BerserkButton — devils and the undead. She's unfortunately worse than Aqua in this regard.
** In Megumin's second spin-off series, when questioned by Megumin [[spoiler:as Chris]] about how she felt in regards to undead and devils, she said they should be exterminated. When Megumin specified that they were non-threatening to humans (basically directly describing [[NiceGirl Wiz]] and [[HeelFaceTurn Vanir]]), she elaborates that [[GoodIsNotNice it would be great if they were exterminated without exceptions]].
** Comes to its conclusion in Volume 12, which introduces Zereschrute, a —literal— devil in disguise who wasn't even a real threat to begin with, and was at his best, [[TheGoodKing a good governor to Belzerg]] and an {{affabl|y Evil}}e AntiVillain who treated Kazuma and his party with respect. Too bad [[spoiler:Chris]] was there to help them, resulting in [[spoiler:her coming back as]] [[KnightTemplar Eris]] to [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown brutalize Zereschrute]]. It's later revealed [[KickTheDog she kept coming back every day to]] [[KickThemWhileTheyAreDown keep attacking him over and over again]], until the poor guy [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere flees Belzerg]].
* {{Foil}}: She is the complete opposite of Aqua. A kind, humble, and responsible goddess who takes her job seriously, but also lacks the dramatic flair needed to convince people to reincarnate into her world.
* TheGadfly: Can be this sometimes, like when she asks Kazuma who he likes more, [[spoiler:Eris or Chris]], just to fluster him. Doesn't quite work out since Kazuma is just as good at that if not better.
* GameOverMan: Whenever Kazuma dies in the world he was sent to, she's the one to greet him before reviving him.
* GodsNeedPrayerBadly: She's even more obsessive on retaining her followers than Aqua. The idea of sharing religious holidays or even losing a single believer makes her incredibly upset, despite that she has far more followers and is the official world church.
* GoodIsNotNice: Can be quite stern when she wants to be, and according to Aqua pretty relentless in certain situations. The definitive example of this is when she punishes entities that originate from evil (devils) or dark magic (the undead).
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has one on her cheek that she has a habit of scratching when troubled. She apparently got it from fighting a Devil at one point in her life. [[spoiler:After Kazuma notices it for the first time in volume 7 from it contrasting with the rest of her flushed face, he quickly figures out that she disguises herself as Chris.]]
* HaveANiceDeath: While not nearly as cruel as Aqua was at the beginning of the series, she later starts poking fun at Kazuma for [[TheManyDeathsOfYou the numerous and bizarre ways]] he gets himself killed.
* HotGoddess: Is described as very beautiful by Kazuma.
* KnightTemplar: Aqua considers her this, saying that she is even more relentless when it comes to traditionally evil beings than even her. Which is kind of saying something considering Aqua's usual attitude to Wiz and Vanir. It's pretty much confirmed as of Megumin's second spin-off series, when she tells Megumin entities like devils or undead people should be [[FantasticRacism "exterminated without exceptions", even if they're not a threat to other people]].
* LadyLuck: Eris is the Goddess of Fortune.
* LongHairIsFeminine: She's a demure and sweet-hearted goddess with very long hair split into two tails. In contrast, [[spoiler:her human guise Chris has BoyishShortHair.]]
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: She won't directly defy Aqua and will carry out orders to the best of her ability, even when the results might have negative consequences. It's how the relationship between superior and junior goddesses always work apparently.
* MysticalWhiteHair: She's a goddess with silvery white hair.
* NervousTics: When she gets troubled, she scratches her right cheek. [[spoiler:This is one of the ways that Kazuma figures out that Chris is her alter-ego.]]
* NiceGirl: Downplayed. She's one of the few characters (across from Iris) that treats Kazuma with respect (unlike how Kazuma's party usually [[ButtMonkey treat him]]), though she is quite relentless towards devils or the undead.
* NotSoAboveItAll:
** While she presents herself as a benevolent and humble goddess, Aqua points out she has the ego to make the world's global currency named after her.
** Her institutional church also uses her name. While that in of itself is not unusual for a religion, Aqua's more fanatical faith does not use Aqua's name in such a prominent manner.
** Aqua mentions that deities directly interacting with the world under their control is frowned upon. [[spoiler:Especially when they do so under the guise of being mortal]]. There were rumors of her doing this, [[spoiler:which her identity as Chris proves true]].
** She significantly pads her bra to appear several cup sizes larger than she really is.
* PhysicalGoddess: In the epilogue of volume 17, Kazuma [[spoiler:uses the [[MakeAWish single wish]] he was promised for defeating the Demon King to have her effectively switch places with Aqua]].
* QuantityVsQuality: She has many more worshipers than Aqua, yet does not equal her divine might because Aqua's followers are significantly more zealous in their beliefs.
* WeGottaStopMeetingLikeThis: She basically says this word-for-word the [[TheyKilledKennyAgain second time Kazuma dies]].

* {{Curse}}: In Volume 7, [[spoiler:Alderp uses his demon servant to place a curse on Ignis that almost kills him, but Aqua dispels the curse before it's too late.]]
* GoodParents: He's a good father to Darkness and wants nothing more than her happiness.
* OpenMindedParent: He's aware of Darkness's masochism and is worried about her safety as an adventurer, but he's glad his daughter is happy with her lifestyle and has good friends.
* ShipperOnDeck: He would be happy if Kazuma married Darkness.
* TranquilFury: When Aqua blames Kazuma and Walther for his daughter lying on the floor unconscious in drenched and torn clothing, his immediate response was to nonchalantly order their execution. Fortunately, they managed to explain the situation before he acted on it.

!!Axis Cult
[[folder:In General]]
* AllLovingHero: Members of the Axis Cult do not discriminate against anyone joining them. So long as you denounce violence and believe in the teachings of Aqua (and definitely ''not'' praise Eris), you can be their friend.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: All the Axis cultists have a few screws loose.
* TheCommandments: Some Axis Cult teachings include:
** The First Commandment is a long quote that can be summarized as: "Thou shalt love everyone."
** The Seventh Commandment is: "Thou shalt not refrain. If thou seeks to eat? Eat. If thou seeks to drink? Drink. Thy may not live to eat or drink tomorrow." It makes more sense when you consider the planet is a subtle CrapsackWorld.
* ComedicLolicon: All the members of the cult love Megumin because she's a cute loli. Their pedophilia is why they're forbidden from getting close to children.
* ExtremeOmnisexual: The Axis Cult pretty much tells their followers that they can feel love and lust for anyone, no matter the gender or age. They're only against relationships with demons.
* FantasticRacism: As to be expected from Aqua's followers, they really hate demons. In addition, in a case of fantastical religious intolerance, many hate the Eris church as seen when many members in Alcanretia [[SpitefulSpit spit at the floor in disgust]] after Darkness reveals herself to be part of it.
* HaveYouSeenMyGod: Averted. Once the Axis Cult discovers Aqua walks among them, her believers begin efforts to expand their influence and prove themselves worthy of such an incredible miracle. It even requires [[spoiler:Eris to make a brief divine appearance on the surface]] to offset the Axis Cult momentum and not steal followers from her.
* TheHedonist: Their religious credo is to live life to the fullest and indulge in their desires, no matter how depraved, to their hearts' content.
* NunsAreMikos: While the style of the Axis Cult's church architecture and the clothes of their members remind of Christianity, the handling of shrines and rituals tend to be more similar to UsefulNotes/{{Shinto}} practices.
* OpportunisticBastard: When Zesta gets falsely arrested for tampering with the city's springs, only few of his fellow cultists help him because the rest want a shot at his position.
* SnakeOilSalesman: Whenever they're trying to convince others to become a follower of Aqua, they'll make questionable claims of it changing your life for the better.
* UndyingLoyalty: They're all zealously devoted to their goddess Aqua. Actually, Aqua has a higher rank than Eris because her followers are this way.

An influential Axis Cult priestess and acquaintance of Megumin and Yunyun.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: Anyone who catches Cecily's attention is highly uncomfortable around her, mainly due to her perversion and many other unpleasant quirks.
* BrilliantButLazy: Her devotion to Aqua would make her a powerful priestess, but she's too lazy to learn any priestess skills besides the standard "Heal" and "Blessing" spells.
* ComedicLolicon: She finds Megumin seriously attractive, going so far as to say that Megumin's "in my strike zone" when she first sees the girl and even bathes with Megumin, causing the latter great discomfort. Gets rather close to Yunyun as well, much to her displeasure.
* CoolBigSis: She acts as a playful and silly, if super perverted, big sister figure towards Megumin, Yunyun and Iris, even constantly asking that they call her "Cecily nee-chan". While Megumin is annoyed by her stupidity, she's still fond of Cecily.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Usually as eccentric as any other member of her cult, but the moment undead and devils are involved she can get serious extremely quickly. At one point she managed to sneak behind a elite member of the Demon King's army without them being aware of it at all.
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: While helping Megumin look for the blue-haired archpriest needed to defeat Hoost, Cecily senses Aqua's presence at a bar. Megumin refuses to look there because she thinks there's no way an archpriest would be getting drunk and doing party tricks at a bar, since this is before Megumin actually meets Aqua and learns what she's like.
* FantasticRacism: Obviously, she hates demons and the Eris Church, but the latter is more egregious as she basically commits hate crimes against them, for example defacing a portrait of Eris, trying to frame two Eris church members who call her out on it as predatory thugs to the police, and ordering Megumin to blow up an Eris church after they deny entry.
* GoldDigger: When Kyouya Mitsurugi was looking for a healer to join his party, she was aggressive in allying with him when she mistakenly believed he would provide for all her financial demands. Being wealthy, handsome, and a powerful swordsman met her immediate requirements.
* LovableSexManiac: She has a tendency to sexually harass boys and girls that she finds attractive.
* MarshmallowHell: With boobs as big as hers, it's kind of inevitable when she hugs you.
* NunTooHoly: Even though she's a nun, Cecily is a gluttonous, lazy and lecherous. She vandalizes the rival Eris church and steals food meant for the poor. It's not too surprising when the deity she worships is [[LoserDeity Aqua]], who openly preaches hedonism in her religion.
* SecretKeeper: The High Priest admits to her that Aqua is their goddess in physical form.
* SillyMeGesture: She frequently winks and sticks her tongue, to the point of being her characteristic expression.
* SmarterThanYouLook: She is a lot more perceptive than she looks, to the point where Megumin sometimes get worried about just how much she can notice. Though she usually messes up her evaluations one way or another.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: When Kazuma asks if she knows Aqua is her real goddess, she clumsily tries denying it.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: She's addicted to slime jelly.

A high ranking archpriest of the Axis Cult and the leader of the cultists in Alcanretia.
----
* AttackReflector: Can cast the Reflect spell, [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin which reflects incoming attack spells back towards their source]].
* TheCassandra: Averted: He receives an oracle from Aqua when she descends to their world, and while everyone nearby is skeptical of the contents (basically "I'm coming to Axel, and lend me some cash if you're nearby."), they all know that he wouldn't lie or use Aqua's name lightly in such matters.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Despite his perverted antics, he's a strong enough archpriest to send a high-ranking demon packing.
* DirtyOldMonk: He's a perverted archpriest whose sexual harassment extends even to the female knights that are arresting him.
* EveryoneHasStandards: He's a massive pervert who will sexually harass any female who appears before him. Except for Cecily, whom he seemingly finds boring.
* LetsGetDangerous: When Arnis shows up in Alcanretia and has Megumin backed into a corner, the only person our heroine can look to for help is this harmless middle-aged man who seems to exist purely for comic relief. [[CurbstompBattle Then this trope comes into effect full-force.]]
* LightEmUp: Like Aqua, he can cast Sacred High Exorcism, one of the strongest anti-demon spells known to man.
* PerpetualSmiler: Megumin notes that his mouth seems to be permanently fixed into a silly grin.
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: He's basically the head honcho of the Axis Cult, but since he leaves all administrative duties to his secretaries, he mostly just wanders around town doing whatever he feels like (primarily harassing the local Eris Cult chapel). Hence, nobody really minds when he gets arrested.
* NotMeThisTime: He gets arrested for turning the springs into Tokoroten, but [[LawfulStupid Sena]]'s {{lie detector}} doesn't go off when he professes his innocence.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: As the Axis Cult's leader, he's also their strongest archpriest.
* RememberTheNewGuy: [[PlayingWithATrope Played with]]: He's mentioned in Volume 4 and appears as the POV for Volume 4's epilogue, but is otherwise absent in the main series until Kazuma meets him in Volume 16. He recieves a proper character introduction in the ''Explosions'' spin-off where he meets Megumin and Yunyun, and reappears in the second ''Continued, Explosions'' volume, as well as in Dust's spin-off.
* RightForTheWrongReasons: The culprit was him all along (despite him being oblivious to that), but the incident was not the one mentioned by the prophecy used to arrest him.
* TechnicallyASmile: During his fight with Arnis, Megumin notices that while he had the same grin plastered on his face, the kindness had completely gone out of his eyes.
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: His idea of a ''warning shot'' is to fire a Sacred High Exorcism blast over Arnis' shoulder and have it explode right behind her.

Megumin's younger sister, who resides with their parents at the Home of the Crimson Magic.
----
* AdmiringTheAbomination: Her first impression upon meeting Lord Hoost was that he was "cool!" Note that Hoost is so imposing and fearsome-looking that Megumin and Yunyun both experienced ColorFailure and ran away crying and screaming the first time they saw him.
* ArmorPiercingResponse: This conversation, where she compliments all but two of the adventurers in Axel:
-->'''Megumin:''' All of the adventurers in this town are cool. When you get back to the village, make sure you brag about us all!
-->'''Komekko:''' Except onee-san isn't very powerful.
-->''(Entire guild goes silent)''
* BigEater: She can eat ''a lot'', especially since she rarely gets to eat at the Home of the Crimson Magic.
* ChildProdigy: She, like her sister, is implied to possess great magical power even for a Crimson Demon. She is heavily hinted at to be a natural demon summoner without even meaning it.
* {{Chuunibyou}}: Just like her big sister, she will pose and drop dramatic statements whenever she wants. After [[spoiler:stealing Kazuma's kill on the demon general Slivia]], she did the cool-girls-don't-look-at-explosions thing, posed, and declared herself more powerful than a demon general.
* TheCutie: She's an adorably cute little girl.
* EarlyBirdCameo: In the anime, at least, she is introduced during the same episode as Yunyun because she features in the embarrassing memories that Megumin unwittingly shared.
* ExtremeOmnivore: Notably she sees high-level monsters and demons as either food or potential food instead of things to be afraid of. While the anime shows Megumin catching and roasting cicadas for Komekko to eat, in the light novels Megumin was [[EveryoneHasStandards disgusted by the idea]], and Komekko had caught and cooked them on her own.
* FearlessInfant: As Megumin puts it, "The newborn calf fears not the lion." Taken to DissonantSerenity levels during the battle with the Mage-Killer-infused Sylvia.
* FemmeFatale: She styles herself as this after she used her "charm" to scam somebody into giving her food.
* FoodAsBribe: The Axel Adventurer's Guild takes advantage of her BigEater tendencies to use her charm to galvanize the adventurers' interests in taking quests.
* FreeRangeChildren: Since her parents were rarely at home and her older sister was at school, Komekko was free to wander around the town alone and she ended up freeing half of a destruction goddess because she mistook the seal for a toy.
* HorrifyingTheHorror: She can frighten high-level monsters who are capable of sensing her [[KillingIntent overwhelming desire to eat them.]]
* HorrorHunger: Played for laughs — it's how Megumin and Hoost come to view her BigEater / ExtremeOmnivore tendencies.
** During a moment of panic when she thought Komekko might be in danger, Megumin had ''this'' to say:
-->'''Megumin:''' No problem! My sister is the reincarnation of the god of gluttony, Ashtoreth! When she is in danger, her seal will be broken, and she will finally conquer the world with me.
* InterspeciesFriendship: She befriends Hoost, a high-ranking demon, who offers to become her {{Familiar}} if she grows powerful enough to summon him.
* KillSteal: [[spoiler:She steals the killing blow on Sylvia by pulling the trigger on the fully-charged Railgun (Fake) before Kazuma can finish delivering his PreMortemOneLiner.]] Kazuma misses out on a lot of valuable experience points as a direct result. [[spoiler:Though, it doesn't quite turn out the same in TheMovie]].
* LittleMissConArtist: Megumin taught her how to scam people, good enough that she can successfully con DEMONS.
* ShipperOnDeck: The first thing she does when she sees Kazuma piggyback carrying Megumin is to scream to her dad that her big sister has snared a man.
* WowingCthulhu: She was able to earn Hoost's respect by solving the many puzzles and riddles making up Wolbach's seal.

----
* BoyfriendBlockingDad: He almost breaks the family table in a fit of rage when Kazuma tries to explain his relation to Megumin, but he stops opposing to them being a couple as soon as he learns Kazuma owns a mansion. He still refuses to give Komekko to Kazuma in exchange for dumplings, which [[MistakenForPedophile Kazuma makes very clear is not his intention]].
* BumblingDad: He insists on making defective magic items and forces his family to live in poverty because of it, but he cares deeply about his family.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: He somehow thinks that Kazuma giving them food is bribing them into handing over ''Komekko'' instead of her other daughter.
* FlippingTheTable: {{Defied}}. Hyoizaburoo tries to flip the only table in the house over in a fit of rage at Kazuma. Luckily, his wife stops him because they can't afford to buy a new table.
* IncompetenceInc: He runs a magic item shop in the Crimson Demon Village. Despite being a talented magic item maker, all of his wares end up with prohibitive limits, some type of a defect built in, or just plain useless.
* MoneyDumb: He squanders all the money he, his wife, and their older daughter make on dumb inventions.
* ShipperOnDeck: At first, he's skeptical when he thinks Megumin is in an intimate relationship with Kazuma, likely keeping in mind Megumin's rather unflattering portrayal of him in the letters she sends to her parents. He quickly warms up to them being a potential couple after Kazuma brings food for the family and mentions he owns a mansion. He even refers to him as his "future son-in-law."

* FaintInShock: In the movie, she faints when Megumin and Yunyun rush into battle against [[spoiler:Sylvia who had fused with Verdia and Hans.]]
* ForcedSleep: When she wants Megumin to sleep with Kazuma, Yuiyui puts everyone in the house to sleep with a spell (except Aqua who blacked out due to drinking) so no one can stop her from locking Kazuma and Megumin in a room together.
* HimeCut: She has blunt bangs, bra strap length sidelocks, and waist length straight hair. The hairstyle complements her YamatoNadeshiko traits.
* MumLooksLikeASister: She looks young enough to be Megumin and Komekko's older sister.
* PerpetualSmiler: She's often seen with a smile on her face. Even when arguing with her husband.
* ShipperOnDeck: She wants Megumin to marry Kazuma because the latter has lots of money. She even purposely locks them in Megumin's room just to see them bond romantically and kneels outside to eavesdrop.
* StockingFiller: She wears a set of garters and thigh-high boots with her skirt.
* TranquilFury: Despite her being very much annoyed by her husband's antics, she still keeps her trademark smile when she argues and chastises him.
* UglyGuyHotWife: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. While not ugly, Hyoizaburoo has a gruff middle aged appearance while Yuiyui is an AbsurdlyYouthfulMother.
* WomenAreWiser: While her husband is an idiot who blows all their money in making useless inventions, Yuiyui is a sensible woman who tries her best to make sure they have something to eat.
* YamatoNadeshiko: Yuiyui fits the role of an ideal Japanese wife who is gentle and devoted to her family, but puts her foot down whenever she disagrees with her husband's stupid decisions. It makes sense, given that the Crimson Demons received influence from Japanese culture.

One of Megumin's former classmates in the Home of the Crimson Magic. While possessing great potential as an Arch Wizard, she doesn't have any interest in adventuring and instead dreams of becoming an author.
----
* TheAce: Good at everything she does. 3rd place of her class, just behind Megumin and Yunyun in terms of magical power, and constantly beats them in questioning periods at giving chuuni answers as well as graduating early like the other two. However, despite her weaker magic power, unlike Megumin/Yunyun, Arue is the only one among the three who actually followed the traditional, optimized build path of the Arch Wizard, so she doesn't have any wasted skill points. There's also the implication that she wasn't really giving it her all, as she had no desire to become an Arch Wizard and only did so to please her parents.
* AdaptationalCurves: In the ''Crimson Legend'' movie, several of Megumin's classmates are given more "endowed" appearances, but Arue stands beyond them all. Puberty hit hard and early, [[YoungerThanTheyLook as even though she's supposed to be twelve years old]], she has a body that rivals ''Wiz''.
* AuthorAvatar: It's implied that she is one for the author, Natsume Akatsuki.
* BigBreastPride: In the ''Crimson Legend'' movie, she introduces herself as ''"The most voluptuous among Crimson Demons"''.
* ByTheLightsOfTheirEyes: Like her people, she has deep red eyes that radiate based on their emotional state.
* {{Chuunibyou}}: '''THE''' chuuni in the Home of the Chuunis. She can say her over-the-top delusions with such vivid detail and a straight face that no one can tell if she's telling the truth or not. Justified, as she claims that an active imagination is very important for an author.
* TheComicallySerious: During her school days, when she and her class are faced by the unexpected appearance of a gargoyle - too dangerous for their level of experience - Arue maintains a completely straight face the whole time, even as the rest of her classmates are terrified and screaming in terror.
* EyepatchOfPower: Like Megumin, she wears an eyepatch over her left eye, to which she hasn't taken off once.
* HateAtFirstSight: Towards Kazuma. Their first meeting even resulted in a physical fight between the two. Justified as he tore up her precious manuscript.
* IShouldWriteABookAboutThis: Before Megumin left the village to go on her journey, Arue asked her to tell her about her adventures one day and she'll write a story about it. That and the credits page of Vol 1 of Megumin's side story, implies that ''Konosuba'' is actually an in-series novel about Megumin's adventures with Kazuma.
* ItWasAGift: Her eyepatch was a gift from her grandfather.
* LargeHam: Like the rest of her race, she is expressive and boastful, and she posses during her introductions.
* {{Netorare}}: She's a fan of this, and often teases Megumin about it once Yunyun became "friends" with Funifura and Dodonko.
-->'''Arue:''' So that's NTR...\
'''Megumin:''' That is not NTR!
* NotSoStoic: Megumin was shocked when she witnessed her freak-out after Kazuma tore apart the manuscript of her current novel; ''Legend of the Crimson Magic Hero'' in retaliation for her ultimately causing the whole mess in volume 5 to begin with.
* ShipperOnDeck: Well, she'd much rather see Megumin go back to the "Yunyun path" than remain on the "Kazuma path".
* TheStoic: Acts like a quiet, cool, beauty, except when she's acting chuuni.
* UselessAccessory: She claims her eyepatch is needed to contain her uncontrollable power, but in reality, she just thinks it's cool.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: The top of Megumin's class in growth development. Even at 12 years old, she looks like a high school girl. The movie adaptation takes this and runs with it, where despite her age she is designed as a voluptuous adult, and implied to be the most 'well-developed' out of all Crimson Demons.

* GirlishPigtails: She ties her hair into pigtails, giving her a girlier look than her classmates.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: While she tried to extort money from Yunyun, she did it to get medicine for her sick little brother.
* ShowgirlSkirt: Funifura chooses to tie her school uniform's black cloak around her waist, giving the effect of a long crescent skirt.

The chief of the Crimson Demon Village and Yunyun's father.
----
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Due to not sharing the Crimson Demons' {{Chuunibyou}} customs, Yunyun is quite embarrassed by her father's hamminess, especially when his stupidly over-the-top greeting in a letter made her think their village was in serious danger.
* BadassLongcoat: He wears a longcoat/overcoat, as the chief of the Crimson Demons must look cool.
* CollaredByFashion: He wears a spiked neck choker.
* MistakenForDying: He sends a letter to Yunyun claiming that he will be dead by the time she receives it, making her freak out as she thinks he's going to be killed by one of the Demon King's generals. When she goes back to check on him, she finds out that he and the village are perfectly safe after the Demon Army's attacks. Saying he was gonna die was just a typically overdramatic Crimson Demon greeting in letters.

----
* BreathWeapon: His chosen specialty magic Energy Ignition has him breath out a stream of intense flame.
* CoolTeacher: When teaching, he often enacts and encourages his students to speak out while flaunting a cool pose.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: Despite being plenty kooky himself as a Crimson Demon, especially when he gets "in the zone" while fighting monsters, the Headmaster is such a genuine {{Cloudcuckoolander}} through his weird habits that Pucchin apparently needs to rein him in on occasion.
* OralFixation: He always has a twig sticking out of his mouth.

The son of a shoe-shop owner and as such, is destined to become the Crimson Demons' greatest (and only) shoemaker. He's also the next-door neighbor of Megumin's family.
----
* BadassCape: He wears a cape when patrolling the town. Even though he's a {{NEET}}, he's still a Crimson Demon and can easily defeat soldiers of the Demon King's army.
* BigDamnHeroes: He and his fellow {{NEET}}s save Kazuma's party from the Demon King's army when they get attacked right after arriving at the Crimson Demon Village.
* ButtMonkey: In most of his scenes, he's either scorned by girls because of his stalker habits or makes a fool of himself in front of his crush.
* HopelessSuitor: He's a {{NEET}} aiming to date the most beautiful woman in his village. He asks her to foretell the woman who will fall in love with him, but her CrystalBall doesn't show anyone, much to his distress. [[SubvertedTrope However,]] Soketto does mention she can't predict a future that involves herself, so Bukkororii's chances to end up with her might not be zero after all.
* IResembleThatRemark: In response to Yunyun saying he's Soketto's stalker, he says he's not a stalker ("just honest about my love")... before proceeding to explain his current predicament - stuck in a hole he himself dug - in a manner that ''entirely'' paints him as one.
* {{NEET}}: He spends most of his time lazing around his house and doesn't help with the family business. He, alongside other layabouts, formed a militia called the "Anti-Demon King Army Guerrilla Unit", which used the thin excuse of "patrolling" to lay around town.
* StalkerWithACrush: He has a big crush on Soketto, the most beautiful girl in the Crimson Demon Village. Whenever he is free (which is almost always), he'll "investigate" Soketto's daily routine, although his "investigations" are more stalking than anything else. He even made the front of her house into one of his teleportation spots.

* FortuneTeller: Soketto is able to predict the future with her CrystalBall and works as the fortune teller of the Crimson Demon Village.
* ObliviousToLove: She actually thought that Bukkororii was stalking her because he hated her, instead of [[StalkerWithACrush the more obvious reason]].
* RavenHairIvorySkin: Soketto has long black hair and milky white skin. Even among the village, she is acknowledged to be the most beautiful girl of the Crimson Demons.
* ShowgirlSkirt: Her long skirt is cut much closer at the front, revealing her legs.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KanonTakao (Japanese), Creator/LisaReimold (English)

The twelve-year-old princess of the Kingdom of Belzerg. An acquaintance of Darkness who invites her party to dinner in recognition of their deeds.
----
* AncestralWeapon: Her sword Calibur is a divine tool passed down by her ancestors.
* TheArchmage: She is very proficient in casting Legendary-class magic, putting her heads and shoulders above even the strongest members of the Crimson Demon Clan in terms of magical prowess.
* BadassAdorable: Darkness claims that despite her age and stature, she's much stronger than Kazuma and could effortlessly defeat him in a fight. This is due to her being a descendant of previous heroes who have defeated the Demon King. Proven hilariously right in Volume 10, when we see her in action.
* BigBrotherWorship: She respects her actual brother a great deal, but she adores her "brother" Kazuma quite a bit more. Aqua notes that she doesn't have an objective outlook when talking about Kazuma at all.
* TheBigGirl: She acts as the fighter for Megumin's band of "thieves" consisting of herself, Megumin, Yunyun, Claire, and Chris.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She occasionally gets into fights with Megumin over Kazuma's affection.
* CoolSword: She wields the holy sword, Calibur, a divine weapon passed down the royal bloodline for generations. Which she got her hands on by begging her dad for because she thought the scabbard was pretty.
* DefrostingIceQueen: When she first meets Kazuma, Iris looks down on him because she can't believe he has accomplished even half of the victories he has achieved until that point. After Darkness scolds her and Kazuma forgives her rudeness, Iris warms up to him and develops a crush on him.
* DitchTheBodyguards: After meeting Kazuma, Iris repeatedly sneaks out of the castle and away from her attendants. [[CardboardPrison Not exactly difficult]] when she can simply jump over the castle walls.
* TheDragonslayer: She earns this title after she slays the golden dragon that had been terrorizing the mines of the Kingdom of Elroad.
* FormalCharactersUseKeigo: She always speaks very politely, as it's expected from a princess.
* FreakyFridayFlip: She switches bodies with Kazuma thanks to a divine artifact made for this, accidentally triggered by Kazuma. Both she and Kazuma had a great deal of fun with it, until it wore off at a very inopportune moment.
* GratuitousJapanese: She likes to use terms she learned from Kazuma without any real understanding of what they are. While going around as "Alice", she says she's the daughter of a chirimen shop owner. The problem being that she only knows the word from Kazuma, and doesn't actually know what a chirimen is, that being fabric to make kimonos.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She's blonde, and beneath her prim and proper facade, is one of the sweetest, kindest, most pleasant characters in the series.
* HeroicLineage: She is a descendant of previous heroes who have defeated past Demon Kings, as it is tradition for such victors to be married into Belzerg royalty.
* HonorBeforeReason: As royalty, it is her duty to be a shining example to the people. Kazuma think this kind of thinking is foolish and tries to teach her how to fight dirty. [[spoiler:She really likes that about him.]]
* HypercompetentSidekick: A Zig-zagged example to Megumin in ''Zoku, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Bakuen wo!'', Iris is exactly as overpowered and naive as always and happily plays the role of the grunt for Megumin's little band of [[PiratesWhoDontDoAnything "honorable thieves"]].
* KingIncognito: She tries to pass herself as a commoner from the capital when she visits Axel. While not many know she is royalty, her blond hair and blue eyes makes it really obvious to everyone else that she is no commoner.
* IdiotHair: She has an ''ahoge'', signifying her naivety.
* InnocentBlueEyes: Her blue eyes highlight her cuteness and innocence.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: While not siblings, Kazuma sees Iris as the younger sister that he never had, but Iris' feelings [[PrecociousCrush go beyond that]]. His influence on her is pretty notable. Much to her retainers' woe, she winds up taking after him quite a bit, mimicking his scheming and shortcomings.
* LittleMissBadass: She's still small and young, but her HeroicLineage makes her one of the strongest warriors of her country.
* LonelyRichKid: One of the fates of royalty is that she doesn't have any friends. Her father and brother are often out leading armies against the Demon King. Claire and Rain are just her guardians, and even Darkness is merely a loyal subordinate. She was so happy that Kazuma would treat her as just a girl and becomes friends with Megumin.
* MagicKnight: Wields both a holy sword and legendary-level magic.
* MoneyDumb: Iris clearly doesn't know the actual value of money, since usually, one of her attendants handles it for her, leading to her being easily (and half-accidentally) conned into paying a million Eri for a kebab before Megumin stepped in.
* NiceGirl: Iris is a sweet, kind, and gentle princess. Much like Eris, she's also one of the few characters that doesn't treat Kazuma as a ButtMonkey and even maintain a brother-sister type relationship.
* OneWomanArmy: Can handle enemies that would normally require an entire team of skilled adventurers to handle, making Kazuma question why she isn't on the front lines herself.
* PaperThinDisguise: As "Alice"[[note]]In Japanese, her real name is ''Airisu'', pronounced ah-ee-ree-su, and when disguising herself, they drop the A, creating ''Irisu''. Since this wouldn't make sense in English, they drop this in most translations, and call her "Alice" instead, which gets the trope across more clearly.[[/note]] in Vanir's SpinOff novel, the granddaughter of the capital's "chirimen" shop's owner. Her hair, eye color, mannerisms, and being escorted by two bodyguards make it clear that she's an aristocrat, and everyone in Kazuma's party (and Chris) immediately recognize who she is.
* PoliticallyActivePrincess: With her father and ''actual'' older brother off leading armies against the Demon King and the queen nowhere to be seen, Iris appears to perform all the ceremonial duties that'd normally fall onto the king, as well negotiating with the neighboring kindom of Elroad when they stop sending financial support for the war effort.
* PrecociousCrush: She has a crush on Kazuma, who is at least four years her senior and wants him to defeat the Demon King so he can become qualified to be her husband. Meanwhile, Kazuma can only think of her as a little sister because of her age.
* PrettyPrincessPowerhouse: She is a darling little princess, with beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes, and is accompanied everywhere by her two retainers and an order of knights. Yet in all that company she is the most powerful of the lot. Between her inheritance of powerful abilities from her powerful ancestors and being fed [[RareCandy rare foods]] since childhood, her combat prowess is so immense that at the tender age of 12, she is already a powerful MagicKnight capable of casting Legendary-class magic. Combat-wise she is stronger than the majority of the adventurers in her kingdom, and out of all characters with known adventurer level, hers is second only to Wiz.
* PrincessClassic: She's a cute, sweet and innocent princess.
* ThePromise: Is absolutely sure that Kazuma will fulfill his promise to defeat the Demon King, mainly because she is looking forward to gifting him his reward. Which traditionally is having the hero marry the princess of the kingdom. Though she worries that, with his personality, another women might steal him away before that happens so she has to be proactive.
* ReverseEscortMission: In theory, Kazuma and co are hired to escort Iris to Elroad. The actual balance of power and Iris's [[GenkiGirl excitement at being out and about]] result in her doing all the fighting while the party just watches.
* TheRival: Towards Megumin over Kazuma, to the point where she would drop her composed nature and is fully willing to pick a fight with her over him.
* SecretKeeper: She immediately saw through Kazuma's "Masked Chivalrous Thief" disguise and knows that he's actually very strong.
* ShelteredAristocrat: She mostly stays in the castle and in the few occasions where she would go outside, she's surrounded by an entire order of knights. She is thus easily tricked by both Kazuma and Megumin.
* SignatureHeadgear: Around her head, she wears a green headband decorated with grapes and leaves.
* StoryBreakerPower: Due to her status and living in the capital, she rarely appears, let alone joins Kazuma's group. There's a reason for this, as the one time she did so, she virtually curb-stomped her way through every opponent in their path, one-shotting every single one of them without any effort. Note that this includes a Golden Dragon [[spoiler:and a doppleganger working for the Demon King]] in volume 10.
* StubbornHair: Her IdiotHair pops back when she tries to pull it down.
* SueDonym: When going KingIncognito, Iris uses the alias "Alice". In Japanese, Iris is pronounced as "Airisu" and Alice as "Arisu".
* SwordBeam: She knows two techniques of this kind, Exterion and Sacred Explode. Iris uses the former more than she actually hits people with her sword, and a single hit is strong enough to [[DiagonalCut instantly kill]] [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe high level monster]], and even a castle gate. The latter requires a charge-up but does the same to a Golden Dragon.
* ToughLeaderFacade: As Belzerg royalty, she is supposed to be prim and proper, rarely showing any emotion. In private, she'd rather be just like any other little girl.
* UptownGirl: The reason why she is so adamant about Kazuma being the one to defeat the Demon King is because that is the only way for it to be possible for a commoner and royalty like her to get married.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: She's overly fond of [[SwordBeam Exterion]] to the point of barely ever hitting anyone with her sword in favor of spamming it.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SayuriYahagi (Japanese), Nicole Gose (English)

A member of the noble household Shinfornea and one of Iris' bodyguards. Also happens to be a high ranking official of the kingdom of Belzerg, which is worrying considering her personality traits.
----
* AscendedExtra: Was originally just portrayed as Iris' stuck-up bodyguard, but over time she has shown up more often in the spin-offs and even in the main volumes; as well as getting more characterization.
* AmbiguouslyBi: She has a BodyguardCrush on Iris, but when she first met Kazuma, she doesn't stop comparing him to Mitsurugi and keep insisting on how attractive the latter is. She also doesn't hide her interest for the masked thief [[spoiler: who is in fact Kazuma in disguise.]]
* BadassInANiceSuit: Always wears a suit, which stands out a lot especially when she is in the somewhat rural town of Axel.
* BodyguardingABadass: The personal bodyguard to one of the most blatantly over-powered human characters in the setting who ''hilariously'' outclasses her in terms of sheer killing power. Justified since the princess's high social standing and tender age necessitates the presence of personal attendants such as Claire.
* BodyguardCrush: Seems to have one for Iris, which explains her overprotective nature, and why she clashes with Kazuma so much.
* CantHoldHerLiquor: All it takes to completely intoxicate her is half a cup of wine.
* EnemyMine: She and Kazuma put aside their differences in order to make sure that Iris doesn't end up with her fiance.
* EpicFail: One of her first interactions with Kazuma's party is her [[ItMakesSenseInContext attempting to slice off Darkness's hand as punishment for slapping Princess Iris.]] Darkness being, well, [[MadeOfIron Darkness,]] is mostly unaffected, but the blade manages to cut ''just'' deep enough to splatter Iris with Darkness's blood. ''In the middle of a dinner party.'' Oops.
** In the Dust spin-off she's instantly swallowed by a Giant Toad immediately after [[TemptingFate boasting]] about how she, as a front-line warrior, was immune to being eaten. [[note]] Giant Toads hate the taste of metal, and so they usually avoid eating armor-clad warriors. Claire, however, had decided to go adventuring in her [[LimitedWardrobe usual white suit.]] [[/note]]
* HateAtFirstSight: She pretty much immediately came to dislike Kazuma in their first encounter; the feeling was mutual to say the least.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: Her bangs cover the left side of her face. She has a very serious and sometimes overbearing personality, especially when it comes to protecting Iris.
* InSeriesNickname: Kazuma tends to only refer to her as "white suit" much to her irritation.
* LovesMyAlterEgo: While Claire detests Kazuma with a passion, she fell for his "Masked Chivalrous Thief" disguise, lamenting that he had chosen the path of a criminal but hopes to see him again. Subverted with Megumin, who insists that her feelings was [[HeroWorshipper less love than pure admiration]]. This causes Kazuma to swear to never reveal the truth to her, because he doesn't want to ruin her delusions. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, she does. See SecretKeeper for details.]]
* RichInDollarsPoorInSense: Much like Darkness, her background as a noble means she doesn't know much about how the rest of the world works.
* SecretKeeper: Played with. [[spoiler:After figuring out Kazuma's secret identity as the Masked Chivalrous Thief, she tries to blackmail him into staying away from Iris by threatening to out him to the public. After Kazuma points out that the revelation of the Princess's "onii-sama" being one of the nation's most wanted criminals would cause a massive political shitstorm, she opts to keep it a secret.]]
* SitcomArchNemesis: Not as big of an example as Aqua and Vanir, but she tends to have this dynamic with Kazuma. The two always getting into fights when they are around one another.
* SkewedPriorities: She outright says in volume 11, that it was more important that Iris wasn't forced into an ArrangedMarriage than securing the nation's funds to fend off the Demon King's army.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ReinaUeda (Japanese), Cat Protano (English)

A minor noble who serves as Princess Iris's personal bodyguard alongside Claire. As a knowledgeable mage who is wise to the ways of the world ''(at least for a noble)'', she also serves as the Princess's personal tutor.
----
* BeleagueredAssistant: Between her, Claire, and their charge, only Rain has an ounce of common sense, and serves as CloudcuckoolandersMinder for the other two whenever the three of them leave the palace.
* BodyguardingABadass: She has only been shown casting Intermediate-class magic in battle, whereas Iris is capable of spamming Legendary-class magic. Justified since she serves an important role as Iris's teacher and helps keep her naivete in check.
* BlueBlood: Downplayed. Rain is from a minor house of relatively low standing. She still has the trademark blonde hair and blue eyes of Belzerg nobility, though.
* BoringButPractical: The only advanced magic that she's been known to cast is the Teleport Spell, which allows Iris and her entourage to freely travel to and from the Royal Palace.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: Strongly implied. Vanir notes that her abundance of common sense is indicative of someone who has experienced many hardships.
** Confirmed in more recent volumes and highlighted in the Dust-spinoff. Her family has a large outstanding debt, and her embarrassing memories shown by the "friendship crystal" mostly center around her not being able to foot the bill during social outings.
* TheNonDescript: Perhaps her most outstanding quality is how much she fails to stand out. Her appearance and way she carries herself is so plain and ordinary, that even ''[[{{Clairvoyance}} Vanir]]'' wasn't able to immediately ascertain her noble status. Rain herself admits that she often worries about her lack or presence.
* OnlyOneName: The name of her house is never given.
* OnlySaneMan: Even more so than Yunyun — Rain is left flabbergasted by the general background-level of ridiculousness in Axel Town and the denizens' indifference to things like the [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight daily explosions.]]
* SurpassedTheTeacher: If her prefered spell tier if any indication, Princess Iris is much stronger in terms of sheer magical aptitude.

A butler serving the royal family of Belzerg.
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Kazuma forgets his name and calls him "Sebastian".
* OldRetainer: He's an elderly butler and very professional at his job.
* TheStoic: He takes all of Kazuma's obnoxious behavior and demands in stride.

[[folder:Levy]]
!!Levy

The crown prince of the Kingdom of Elroad and Iris' fiancé.
----
* ArrangedMarriage: He's engaged to Iris because of a political alliance between their kingdoms.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: At first, he acts like a rude and arrogant RoyalBrat, but his attitude improves after Kazuma and Iris earn his respect.
* NoGuyWantsAnAmazon: He doesn't take well to his engagement to Iris because he sees her as a barbarian princess. Although, he's genuinely impressed by her slaying a dragon almost completely by herself.
* YouthfulFreckles: In the manga, he has freckles on his face to emphasize his bratty traits.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lugkraft (SPOILERS)]]
!!Lugkraft
The prime minister of Elroad, who pressured Prince Revi into eliminating defense funding for Belzerg.
----
* ArcVillain: He's the villain of Volume 10.
* BecomingTheMask: He was so immersed in his cover job as the prime minister to the point of forgetting his mission as a spy for decades.
* TheBlank: His true appearance is a pitch black humanoid silhouette with no facial features.
* DitzyGenius: He's fairly competent in politics, but he also suffers from tunnel vision causing him to work far harder for the country than is necessary for his infiltration mission.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: When Lugkraft became a minister of domestic affairs, he was appalled by Elroad's spending and gambling culture, which was putting them into extreme amounts of debt.
* FailedASpotCheck: As an experienced politician in charge of Elroad's foreign affairs, as well as the head of the Demon King Army's intelligence division, he ought to have been able to figure out Kazuma's real identity, or at least have been able to deduce that he wasn't really Iris's brother by blood. This ends up giving him away when he uses his powers to impersonate Kazuma and ultimately gets him killed by Iris.
* HumanDisguise: He has the ability to change his appearance, which he uses to pass himself off as a human.
* {{Humanshifting}}: As a Doppelgänger, Lugkraft can make his appearance identical to anyone.
* InternalReformist: He managed to reverse Elroad's self-destructive financial situation despite being on the Demon King's side.
* {{Jerkass}}: He gloats about how he's going to use Kazuma's appearance to ambush his companions and kill Iris while taking pleasure in the latter's frustration, though this is mostly in response to how Kazuma nearly put an Elroad casino out of business.
* MistakenIdentity: He takes Kazuma and Iris's relationship at face-value, and assumes that Kazuma is Iris's older brother Jatis and the Crown Prince of Belzerg. He even rationalizes that "Jatis's" dark hair and eyes is due to him being a genetic throwback to the legendary (sent Japanese) heroes of old. Naturally, hilarity ensues.
* MoleInCharge: He's actually the leader of the Demon King's intelligence division.
* MotiveRant: After tying and gagging Kazuma and Darkness, he goes on a really long rant about his efforts to infiltrate Elroad's government for the Demon King.
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: He's the one behind the cuts to Elroad's military funding to Belzerg and tries to justify it by claiming the Demon King will recognize their neutrality and leave them alone.
* ShapeshiftingSeducer: He takes Megumin's form and appears to seduce Kazuma, just to trick and capture him. He tries taking Kazuma's form to seduce Darkness and Iris as well, but they see right through his disguise because the real Kazuma would never act chivalrous.
* TooDumbToLive: He attempts to kill Iris, even though she's stronger than the rest of Kazuma's party combined, resulting in his rather anticlimatic death. This is long after she proves herself to be a OneWomanArmy capable of slaying a dragon with barely any effort.
* TreacherousAdvisor: He's the reason why Prince Revi acts like such a jerk to Iris and Kazuma's party, which he hopes will destroy relations between Elroad and Belzerg.
* UndyingLoyalty: He takes great offense to any insults to the Demon King, even when he's in his prime minister guise.
* WalkingSpoiler: As a MoleInCharge and a shapeshifter, he's not easy to talk about without spoilers.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MakiKawase

Lead singer of the entertainment troupe "Axel Hearts." She also doubles as an adventurer, fighting with a lance.
----
* AmnesiacHero: [[spoiler:Chapter 1-6 of the main campaign reveals that she's one of these. Her earliest memories are coming to near a wrecked troupe cart with a magic piano to her side, remembering nothing except her name and her penchant for dancing. She travels with Axel Hearts hoping that her dancing skills will help her remember anything about her past.]]
* BadassInDistress: [[spoiler:Gets kidnapped by Troll Lord Daniel in Chapter 1-6, alongside Aqua.]]
* BarrierWarrior: Once she regains her Magical Keyboard, she finds that she has the ability to summon a super-powerful barrier thanks to her singing.
* CastingAShadow: Her skill set is almost exclusively of the Darkness element.
* ColorMotif: She's most associated with the color blue, typically the darker shades.
* {{Foil}}: To Aqua. Both are the blue-haired nominal leaders of their respective female trios and have support skills in the game (Aqua healing, Lia buffing stats), but while Aqua is energetic, prone to outbursts, can be lazy at times, and tends to lack common sense, Lia is far more level-headed, low-key, headstrong, and determined to work hard to accomplish her goals. Aqua is also frequently a Holy attribute in the game, while Lia is often associated with Dark.
* FriendOrIdolDecision: [[spoiler:In Chapter 1-9, she seriously considers leaving Axel Hearts for good after gaining her memories back, since she feels the need to complete Aqua's mission of slaying the Demon King. Aqua herself convinces Lia otherwise, reciting passages of Axis Cult scripture that basically boil down to "live the way you want to".]]
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: Konjiro, a stuffed bear that Lia found after she lost her memories, which she came to feel was her only friend. Even after regaining her memories, she continues to treat Konjiro as if it were alive, even reserving a room for it at an inn when going on vacation.
* IdolSinger: Alongside Cielo and Erika.
* InformedAttribute: The entire Axel Hearts trio is repeatedly described as having "goddess-like" singing and dancing skills, but neither of these things are ever shown in-game, with the plot opting to simply skip over their concerts. This is especially egregious for Lia, given the spoiled events in AmnesiacHero above. Though we do get various music videos featuring them. While their singing is enjoyable, it's not significantly better than any other pop group. Though Axel doesn't have many pop groups to compare.
* MenCantKeepHouse: Gender-flipped example. She is so incapable of keeping her room clean that she almost kills Aqua with her messiness after the two are captured by Daniel and confined to a living room area. Keep in mind that the two were only captured for less than a week.
* OutOfFocus: In terms of the main campaign, Lia only pops up a handful of times after Part 1.
* ThePowerOfMusic: [[spoiler:In Chapter 8, it's revealed that the "cheat item" Lia chose to bring with her when she was resurrected was the magic keyboard she had alongside her the whole time, enabling her to become a BarrierMaiden. She uses it to fend off Troll Lord Daniel and his Thor Hammer, much to his surprise.]]
* StatusBuff: Her default Super grants the entire party an increase in attack, defense, and speed.
* TrashOfTheTitans: Kazuma finds out the hard way that Lia can't keep her room clean to save her life, and she constantly tries to come up with excuses to get out of cleaning. For instance, her reaction to Cielo pointing out a crusty, molding food bowl on her desk with ants crawling all over it is to say that "ants need to survive too." When Kazuma and the group rescue her and Aqua in Daniel's castle a week after they were kidnapped, Aqua is on the verge of death not from anything Daniel did, but from just ''how'' much of a mess Lia made of the room they were trapped in.
* TraumaButton: [[spoiler:Near the end of Chapter 7, Troll Lord Daniel accidentally kills Lia with Thor's Hammer. When Aqua gets the opportunity to resurrect her, she cryptically says "I remember why I came to this world now". Come Chapter 8, she tells Kazuma and Aqua in private that she's Japanese, and her spear and idol skills were AmnesiacResonance coming from her days as a ''naginata'' club member and part of an obscure idol group. The cause of her amnesia was a pack of monsters ambushing her troupe cart, causing her to fall off a cliff. Humorously, Aqua doesn't remember ever reincarnating her specifically (other than a "No wonder you looked familiar" statement), much like with Mitsurugi.]]
* TheUnreveal: We do not find out her real name, instead insisting everyone continue to call her Lia.
* UtilityWeapon: Her lance has a microphone on the other end, which she uses in one of her Supers to buff everyone.
* VillainousCrush: She is the target of Lord Daniel's lust, much to her chagrin.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KarinIsobe

Part of the entertainment troupe "Axel Hearts". She's the shy and introverted type, and due to her upbringing, cannot touch men. When she's not on stage, she provides help to Axel Hearts and other adventurers as an archpriest.
----
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Downplayed — while she ''does'' look a lot like a young boy, the rest of the cast doesn't really make a big deal out of it, and even her cutscene nameplate reads "Boyish Girl" before she introduces herself.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: She looks like she barely has any muscles on her, but is able to punch someone clear across town ''by accident''.
* ColorMotif: She's typically associated with the color green.
* DoesNotLikeMen: She has a habit of freaking out when near males, and she impulsively punches guys who [[HatesBeingTouched touch her]]. Not even Kazuma is spared from this. [[spoiler:It's later revealed what her FreudianExcuse is: she's [[ReallyRoyaltyReveal secretly a princess]] and her parents [[RaisedAsTheOppositeGender raised her as a boy]], since they expected one for their firstborn heir. This ended up attracting bullies who picked on her for her short height, unbecoming of someone who was supposedly male.]]
* DrillSergeantNasty: When a character goes to her for training, Cielo does a 180 and turns into this. She will inflict hundreds of pushups, marathon-length runs, and thousands of situps as mere preparation for the ''real'' training.
* {{Foil}}: To Darkness. Both are blondes (with Darkness being a bright blonde while Cielo is a honey blonde), have noble heritage and are ashamed of it for a specific reason, have skills to support their allies, and are typically TheBigGuy of the group. However, while Darkness is the tallest of the main girls, is focused on defense, and has little offensive power (due to her terrible accuracy), Cielo is the shortest Axel Heart and is far more focused on the offensive side. Darkness is also associated with the Earth element while Cielo is usually a Wind unit. In terms of personality, Darkness is also very outgoing and not afraid to speak up or wear her emotions on her sleeves, while Cielo tends to prefer letting Lia and Erika talk if she has nothing specific to say. Also, both girls become very, very determined when their specific interests (masochism and training, respectively) come up.
* IdolSinger: Alongside Lia and Erika.
* ImposedHandicapTraining: Will sometimes do this during her morning workout, which often worries Erika and Lia.
* InformedAttribute: The entire Axel Hearts trio is repeatedly described as having "goddess-like" singing and dancing skills, but neither of these things are ever shown in-game, with the plot opting to simply skip over their concerts, outside of music videos.
* MegatonPunch: What she inflicts on any male who is close to touching her, even if she doesn't want to. She gains a large male fandom in-universe precisely because of this.
* OutOfFocus: In terms of the main story, becomes this after Part 1 ends.
* PhysicalFitnessPunishment: When inflicting her training on some poor, unlucky soul, this is the end result when the trainee inevitably collapses from exhaustion.
* ReallyRoyaltyReveal: Is eventually revealed to a princess from a very rich noble family. However, her father's extreme personality caused her to run away and eventually join up with Axel Hearts, as a way to accomplish something on her own drive.
* SupportPartyMember: One of three archpriests in the game's roster, the other two being Aqua and Amy. Her kit has more focus on lightning magic, leaning her closer towards a CombatMedic.
* TrainingFromHell: Due to being raised as a boy, Cielo constantly had to train under her wrestler-esque father and his relatives/friends. As a result, she grew to greatly enjoy training, as much as singing in Axel Hearts. When another character comes to her for any kind of training, expect her to put them through the exact same routine, even if it has nothing to do with what the character is training for.
* TrainingMontage: Any scene involving Cielo training someone will usually include one of these.
* VillainousCrush: Is the target of Charlie's affections.

[[folder:Erika]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/erika_profile.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Runa Narumi

Part of the entertainment troupe "Axel Hearts". She's the merrymaker of the trio and has a rather vain obsession with her cuteness. When she's not on stage, she goes adventuring, wielding a knife and lightning magic.
----
* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe: Becomes irritated when neither Daniel nor Charlie have any interest in her.
* AttentionWhore: She ''really'' likes it when people call her cute.
* BadassAdorable: Erika certainly thinks of herself this way.
* BerserkButton: Telling her she's not cute at all. Even the perception of someone or something being cuter than her will set her off.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She becomes like this if someone threatens to pull others' attention away from her by being cuter than her.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Much like Megumin with her explosions or looking cool, her mind wanders into some strange territories in the search of being cuter.
* {{Determinator}}: Absolutely nothing will get in her way of being the cutest thing in all the land.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Her battle outfit only has armor on one of her breasts and her right boot is higher up on her leg than her left one.
* {{Foil}}: To Megumin. Both are associated with the Fire element, have outgoing personalities, are frequently opinionated, and have an almost unhealthy obsession with their main gimmick (being called cute and casting Explosion, respectively). In contrast, Erika is obsessed with being cute instead of cool like Megumin, she has long hair to Megumin's short hair, and she has quite the generous bust compared to Megumin's flat chest. Also, while she isn't as tall as Lia is, she is still much taller than Megumin.
* ForcedTransformation: Wiz sold her a potion that claimed to enhance her cuteness. Luckily, Lia and Cielo read the bottle before she can take it, revealing that it would literally turn her into a real cat. Erika is still wants to take it regardless, forcing Cielo to dump it.
* FriendToAllChildren: She often spends her free time teaching children at her old orphanage how to dance. She also happily encourages other children to dance or follow their dreams.
* GeneHunting: [[spoiler:Her FreudianExcuse for her obsession with cuteness. While she was HappilyAdopted, she took up singing and dancing with Axel Hearts in the hopes that her eventual stardom will help her find her real parents.]]
* HappilyAdopted: While she wants to find her biological parents, she does dearly love her adoptive parents.
* HeroesPreferSwords: Uses a sword in battle.
* IdolSinger: Alongside Lia and Cielo.
* InformedAttribute: The entire Axel Hearts trio is repeatedly described as having "goddess-like" singing and dancing skills, but neither of these things are ever shown in-game, with the plot opting to simply skip over their concerts.
* LargeHam: Not as much as, say, Aqua or Darkness, but Erika tends to go wild with this when performing, or especially when anyone calls her cute.
* MsFanservice: Intentional. Both her battle outfit and her stage outfit showcase a lot of skin, complete with generous amounts of cleavage. All of her variant outfits expose a lot of skin or emphasize her shapely body. One of her portraits even shows her about to pull down her top as a tease to her fans.
* OneTractMind: Erika never fails to seize the opportunity to steer a conversation or moment towards her being cute.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: Erika and Megumin once got into an argument over whether being cute or cool is better, deciding to settle it by defeating monsters on a quest. When Erika loses, she is forced to act "cool" according to Megumin, which she fails horribly at to start, though her fans start to warm up to it. Eventually, though, she cannot keep it up and is more than happy to act cute once again.
* OutOfFocus: From the main story once Part 1 ends, just like her bandmates.
* PlayingWithFire: Most of her units are of the Fire element, as is her default Super.
* ShockAndAwe: Most of her early units are Lightning-based.
* SoBeautifulItsACurse: Says this almost word for word when the cast finds out that [[spoiler:Axel Hearts' would-be captors, the troll Charlie and Troll Lord Daniel, are among their rabid fans]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Melissa]]
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/merissa_profile.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MarikaKouno

A lone wolf treasure hunter.
----
* AbsoluteCleavage: Her default outfit has this, as does many, many of her variants.
* AdventurerArchaeologist: While she doesn't care about archaeology, her standard day job involves searching ruins for treasures she can sell, and said ruins usually have monsters or golems guarding them.
* [[AnimalsHateHim Animals Hate Her]]: She adores any and all furry animals, but virtually every time she touches one, they bite or try to eat her. Not that she minds, however.
* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe: Mitsurugi, who only has eyes for Aqua, is completely immune to her charms, which frustrates Melissa to no end.
* BerserkButton: She has zero tolerance for liars. [[spoiler:She's absolutely livid when Megumin accidentally reveals that Kazuma's "money for Chomusuke's wing-removal surgery" story was just a ruse, forcing Kazuma to not only hand over his take in their casino heist, but also an additional 100,000 eris as punishment.]]
* TheBet: She makes a bunch of these in order to get the others to go along with her, since they rightfully don't trust her. In one particular instance, she made a bet with Kazuma and Dust that if Kazuma could use his Thief skill to steal her panties, she'd give them 10 million eris, but if they failed, they would have to grovel before her. Of course, this was the one time Kazuma ''didn't'' steal panties, but her wallet instead (since she wasn't wearing any that day).
* CastingAShadow: Most of her units have Darkness as one of the elements.
* ClassyCatBurglar: She likes to think herself as one of these, but something usually happens to cause everything to go crazy, especially if she brings along Kazuma and the gang as support.
* CustomUniformOfSexy: Best exemplified by her maid outfits. The other characters wear standard designs, with the only real variance the amount of lace or how long the skirt is. Melissa's, the other hand, employs AbsoluteCleavage, an ultra-short skirt, and bare shoulders and back.
* CutenessProximity: She turns into a blubbering idiot around cute animals. Unfortunately for her, most animals aren't too keen of her and tend to run away. Chomusuke is a rare exception, which Kazuma exploits to his advantage to rope Melissa into another one of his [[GetRichQuickScheme get-rich-quick schemes]]. Later on in the campaign, she also falls for Mia's animal ears, going so far as to try and pay her for the privilege of fondling them.
* DeviousDaggers: While she is overall a good person, she won't hesitate to manipulate people to her own end and uses daggers in battle.
* {{Fanservice}}: The amount of outfits she wears that don't employ this in some fashion can be counted on one hand, with many fingers left over.
* FemmeFatale: She absolutely loves manipulating men into being her bodyguard and/or meat shield while she reaps whatever reward she's after.
* GoingCommando: She doesn't wear any panties on her days off.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's outwardly callous, but she has a soft spot for helping out the unfortunate. At the beginning of her debut chapter, she refuses to help a little boy find his mother's stolen amulet. When she coincidentally finds an amulet matching his description after her casino heist, she lets the boy have it for [[ComicallySmallBribe a mere one eris]], much to his joy.
* LightEmUp: Most of her units also have Holy as one of her elements.
* MsFanservice: All of her outfits emphasize her shapely figure and expose as much skin as possible. If there is a series of outfits which keep the other ladies mostly covered, expect Melissa's variant to have lots more exposed skin.
* RivalsTeamUp: She often teams up with fellow thief Chris when a quest is too much just for her alone and she doesn't want to deal with Kazuma.
* SexyWhateverOutfit: If an outfit style doesn't allow her to show off her body, she'll find some way for it to let her do that regardless.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Her outfit consists of a v-neck top, mini jeans short, fishnet stockings, and boots. The skimpiness exposes her large cleavage, midriff, and long legs.
* SurroundedByIdiots: She doesn't think too highly of Kazuma's party when she brings them along for a casino heist, especially with Megumin's constant complaining over the heist plan excluding her Explosion spell.
* UntrustingCommunity: Whenever Melissa asks another Axel resident for assistance, all of them are, rightfully, wary of her screwing them over.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mia]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mia_profile.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AzumiWaki

A young half-beast girl, hailing from the snowy northern lands of Samuidoh.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: She hates it whenever Melissa tries to fondle her ears.
* AppetiteEqualsHealth: Everyone gets very concerned whenever Mia passes on eating a meal. One time she was genuinely sick, and when fully recovered she devoured large meals like normal.
* AteItAll: She's done this a handful of times. While Kazuma and the others are rightfully pissed whenever this happens, Amy will dismiss their concerns completely.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Not quite to the same extent as Komekko, but she is extremely easily distracted by the potential of eating food, especially meat.
* BigEater: She eats a lot, especially when it comes to meats and foreign foods. In fact, her [[EstablishingCharacterMoment first cutscene]] has her scarfing down Kazuma and Aqua's meat buns as soon as they meet each other.
* [[BigBrotherWorship Big Sister Worship]]: Absolutely adores Amy and, if left to her own, will often take on some task that she thinks will make Amy even happier.
* BlackHoleBelly: The only character who can compete with her stomach is Komekko.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Gets this way with Amy when she starts doting on Komekko for a bit.
* DeliciousDaydream: Most of Mia's dreams involve food and while out on a quest she will usually be distracted imagining what kind of meal she's going to eat afterwards.
* DeniedFoodAsPunishment: Kazuma and the others attempted this a handful of times when Mia got them into trouble, but whatever stance they take is immediately undercut by Amy moments later.
* {{Determinator}}: Near the end of Chapter 1-4, Amy reveals why she took in Mia as her adoptive sister: [[spoiler:a few years before the story, Amy fell violently ill and Mia set out to find the medicines to cure her by herself, in the middle of a snowstorm. As soon as Amy got better, she vowed to keep watch over Mia so that she'll never do something that reckless again.]]
* DishingOutDirt: Her attacks are of the earth element.
* EatingContest: Of course, she participates in these whenever she can. She usually wins handily.
* EatingTheEnemy: Granted, a lot of the enemies are sentient fruits and veggies, but anytime the gang is attacked by a flesh & blood monster, she wants to cook them afterwards.
* {{Expy}}: She's basically Komekko but ''slightly'' more mature and with wolf ears.
* ExtremeOmnivore: There's very, very little Mia won't eat.
* FoodAsBribe: The other characters can easily talk Mia into doing anything as long as they promise meat as a reward.
* FoodComa: If Mia actually gets to eat enough to fill her up, she'll fall asleep soon afterwards.
* GenkiGirl: She's so energetic that even someone as ditzy as Aqua can't help but point this out when they first meet in Chapter 1-4.
* HappilyAdopted: Amy isn't Mia's biological mother, but that doesn't really matter to Mia.
* IsItSomethingYouEat: Mia asks this whenever someone discusses something she doesn't know.
* LightEmUp: Most of her units are a part of the Holy element.
* LittleBitBeastly: She has large wolf-like ears on the top of her head.
* LostFoodGrievance: In one instance, Mia wept because the pudding Amy made that she was looking forward to was gone, eaten by someone else. She accused Kazuma and the others and dressed as a detective to try and find the culprit, only to then remember that she ''herself'' ate the pudding earlier and simply forgot.
* OneTrackMindedHunger: It's actually extremely rare that Mia goes for more than 5 minutes without mentioning wanting something to eat.
* TheSnackIsMoreInteresting: Mia will ignore any danger or threat present if there's food around.
* SpoiledSweet: Amy folds like a wet blanket whenever Mia wants anything, but Mia is still extremely nice and friendly to everyone around her.
[[/folder]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NaomiOzora

A half-beast girl, also hailing from the northern lands. Acts as Mia's caretaker.
----
* ActionMom: Takes care of Mia and is perfectly capable of holding her own in battle.
* AllLovingHero: While Mia is her main target, she also loves all the other main characters.
* DishingOutDirt: Like Mia, most of her units are at least partially Earth element.
* DotingParent: Acts like one towards Mia, letting a lot of her mishaps slide simply because she's cute. She can also convince anyone to do anything for her by doting on them a little bit, treating even people older than her as her children.
* FeminineMotherTomboyishDaughter: Not an extreme example, but Amy is extremely feminine, passive, and motherly, wearing long dresses and regularly dotes on the others. Mia, meanwhile, usually wears pants (with her default outfit being a farmer's overalls), is far more active, and doesn't really care about girly things.
* ForHappiness: The only reward Amy ever wants is for Mia to smile and be happy.
* LapPillow: Loves it when Mia, or any other character she is doting on at the moment, lies down on her lap. She once got Kazuma to charge into a very dangerous battle with the promise of this.
* LittleBitBeastly: Mainly shown in her canine ears, which are constantly in a folded down position.
* MamaBear: If Mia is in danger, expect Amy to move heaven and earth to make things right.
* MistakenForSuicidal: Kazuma and Aqua find Amy standing over a cliff and think she's about to end it all. Turns out she just needs to find a way down in order to catch some mushrooms that ran away.
* ParentalSubstitute: Ends up acting as Mia's mother, even though they are not related.
* [[PushoverParents Pushover Parent]]: The worst punishment Amy can inflict onto Mia is giving her sweet potatoes for desert instead of pudding.
* SupportPartyMember: She plays this role more closely than resident archpriests Aqua and Cielo. Her kit includes the ability to buff her own heal skill and give her allies a defense boost.
* TeamMom: While she normally plays as Mia's mom, she will also dote on Kazuma and the others if it tickles her fancy.
* ToughLove: Kazuma and the others try to force Amy to give Mia this, in order to curb her spoiled tendencies, but Amy is physically unable to say "No" to Mia long enough for this to take effect.
* UnflappableGuardian: It takes a ''lot'' to actually make Amy genuinely concerned for Mia's health beyond scraped knees or going hungry for more than 5 minutes.

A previous reincarnation by Aqua. A bungling inventor type with a knack for causing havoc.
----
* AbsentMindedProfessor: He originally did have altruistic aspirations for saving the world from the Demon King, but entries in his diaries quickly reveal how much of an idiot this guy was in life.
* ApocalypticLog: PlayedForLaughs. Whenever he's involved, the heroes inevitably find one of his diaries which details his troubles with his latest invention. Said diaries mainly highlight how much of an idiot this guy was.
* DyingAlone: After the Destroyer went on a rampage with him inside, he spent the rest of his days completely alone and trapped until he was left to rot. However, Aqua can tell he died with no regrets since he was fed up with the world that forced him to create deadly machines that caused more trouble than they solved.
* {{Jerkass}}: Kazuma certainly thinks so, as he's repeatedly called this man an asshole for the utter chaos his inventions tend to cause. TheMovie reveals him calling the Crimson Demons, his creations mind you, morons which Kazuma prevents Megumin from knowing lest suffering BrokenPedestal.
* KarmaHoudini: By virtue of being long dead, he'll never get any comeuppance for the trouble his inventions cause in the present.
* LethallyStupid: His bumbling idiocy resulted in the creation of the Mobile Fortress Destroyer and the destruction of the kingdom that commissioned it.
* NoNameGiven: We never learn his name.
* PosthumousCharacter: He's long dead by the time Kazuma comes to the world and we only learn about him through his diary entries.
* ThePowerOfCreation: He could create anything he could personally imagine out of nothing, with the exception of living things as his reincarnation bonus
* ShadowArchetype: He's practically Kazuma if he let his NEET tendencies go out of whack.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Although he's already dead, he's the reason why the Destroyer and the Crimson Demon clan came to be, making him responsible for two whole story arcs.
* TerribleArtist: He originally meant to model the Mage Killer after a dog, but his drawing was so bad that people built it with the shape of a snake instead.
