1912th Chairman of the Hunter Association, which administers the Hunter Exams once or twice per year. While he never fought during the exams, Hisoka feels uncomfortable around him, and Gon and Killua fails to catch a ball Netero holds in a friendly game; In fact [[TheGift Gon]] prided himself as if it was the greatest victory of his life to get Netero to use both hands.\
20
21His Nen ability emits a hundred-armed entity behind himself in the form of the bodhisattva Guanyin. After clasping his hands in a prayer the bodhisattva follows his hand motions to devastating effect, which is repeated for every attack. Thanks to years of training he can perform the required motions with immense speed.
22-----
23* TheAce: [[spoiler:Prior to his death,]] he was the strongest Nen user in the series, although he claimed that this wasn't necessarily the case anymore as he reached his prime over 50 years ago. Indeed, the Royal Guards and the Ant King were stronger than him when it comes to aura.
24* ActionBomb: The Rose. The very bomb he used to kill Meruem.
25* AnArmAndALeg: Meruem sliced his right leg and his left arm during their fight.
26* ArcSymbol: He is often associated with the heart. His T-shirt which he wears for serious fights has "heart" written on it, a poster of him in the Hunter's Association reads "the heart is important", his fighting style (Shingen-Ryu) can be translated as "Style from the Heart", he expresses his gratitude at some point by forming a heart with his hands, and he [[spoiler: dies by piercing his own heart.]] There is quite a bit of Buddhist to this, given that Netero's strongest nen ability manifests as a giant multi-handed Bodhisvatta (or enlightened) statue-like being that attacks with its multiple hands. ''Anaharta'', the heart chakra (naturally, located by the heart), is associated with balance, purity, clarity, and calmness, and the touching of hands, all of which fit Netero, who achieved his great power after reaching enlightenment himself and exhibits shrewd, calm, and calculated judgment.
27* AttackAttackAttack: This is how Hyakushiki Kannon works, it's a giant FightingSpirit who [[RapidFireFisticuffs can continuously hit you with his palm strikes]].
28* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: The 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva is a giant.
29* BadassBoast: Drops quite a few of those during his battle against Meruem.
30--> This is a tomb. ''Your tomb.''
31--> An ant '''should not talk down to humans!'''
32* BareFistedMonk: Fights with a Nen style that involves palm strikes.
33* BatmanGambit: He is able to anticipate the reactions of Morel and [[spoiler:anticipated what would happen after his death.]]
34* BeneathTheMask: At first, he seems to be a standard quirky EccentricMentor, but even early on, there are hints that this hides an amoral nature and [[SoreLoser being somewhat annoyed when he's on the losing end]], which are shown in full during the fight with Meruem where he shows himself to be a very fight-crazed fighter [[spoiler: who is willing to kill his enemy via nuclear radiation rather than accept defeat from an assumed inferior]].
35* BerserkButton: Downplayed. While Meruem genuinely meant his praise, Netero saw it as an insect looking down on humans and while he didn't lose his temper, he went on the offensive when before he was just reacting to Meruem's attacks.
36* BetterToDieThanBeKilled: [[spoiler:Delivers the finishing blow to himself by piercing his own heart with two fingers, thus activating the Miniature Rose in order to finish off Meruem with the residual poison killing him rather than dying at the King's hands.]]
37* BigGood: As the 12th chairman of the Hunter Association he served as the highest authority for those who fight monsters and explore the world until his death.
38** Subverted a bit by mixing in some GoodIsNotNice. Netero's actions don't seem to be motivated by any kind of morality as much as they are by his love of fighting. He favors the strong, takes no issue with letting murderers become Hunters, and Bisky even remarks that he's unreasonable and untrustworthy. Netero may be the strongest and most important member of an organization that's largely a force for global good, but that is not the same as having everyone's best interest at heart.
39* BloodKnight: He really loves fighting and prefers it to talking. Since he is the strongest fighter in the world, he never got a chance to enjoy battle anymore, until the Chimera Ants showed up. And he's really excited to challenge someone stronger than him.
40* BodyHorror: [[spoiler:Using [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Zero Hand]] left him in an incredibly decrepit state, and he looked positively nightmarish and alien when he gave his FinalSpeech to Meruem.]]
41* BreathWeapon: Hyakushiki Zero. This is Netero's last resort, meant to be used only when he cannot utilize any other of Guanyin's abilities. Netero first prays with all his heart. The Bodhisattva then appears behind Netero's enemy and tenderly clasps him within its palms. Netero then focuses every last ounce of his aura in preparation for this final attack, and the Bodhisattva mercilessly howls out an enormous flare of aura in an attempt to destroy the enemy.
42* BunnyEarsLawyer: The chairman of the Hunter Association and a rather silly, laidback old man with a penchant for goofing around. [[spoiler:Averted when [[LetsGetDangerous things get serious]] and you find out ''why'' this "silly old man" is in such a high position to begin with.]]
43* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Taken to absurd lengths. When Netero had reached the limits of what his body and technique could achieve through mere physical training, he decided to show gratitude for this by performing a prayer and a straight punch 10,000 times a day for several years. At first, it took him '''eighteen hours''' to finish each set, barely leaving him time to sleep before immediately beginning anew soon after he wakes up the next day; by the time he had finished, he had reached the point where he could perform 10,000 punches in an instant. And that’s before he learned about [[FunctionalMagic Nen]]... It's been revealed that his nen type is that of an Enhancer, which would further bolster this.
44* CoolOldGuy: Well, it's going to happen when you're a character over 110 years old and chairman of the Hunter Association. However, as the Chimera Ant arc goes into deeper information about his psyche, it becomes clear that he's more sinister than initially assumed. He still is the strongest person around.
45* ChallengeSeeker: Netero was disgusted that the "ultimate strength" that he had achieved was so powerful that he had no more opponents left who could give him a good fight, which is why he approached his battle against [[PersonOfMassDestruction Meruem]] with a sense of deep gratitude to everything that lead him to this moment, even knowing [[spoiler:it'll probably be the last fight of his life.]]
46** Given a somewhat darker twist in that [[spoiler:he had no intention of allowing Meruem to live, win or lose, and was effectively using him to indulge his passion before executing him regardless.]]
47* ADeathInTheLimelight: In the fight vs Meruem we discover all his backstory [[spoiler:before his death.]]
48* {{Determinator}}: Losing two of his limbs didn't slow him down one bit.
49--> ''You believe I cannot pray with one arm?''
50* DirtyOldMan: {{Downplayed}} compared to most anime examples, but he can briefly be seen checking out Menchi's rack.
51* DyingMomentOfAwesome: [[spoiler: Having exhausted his aura against Meruem and burned himself out into a skeletal husk, Netero gives one final, gleeful, ''evil'' grin as he reveals that the battle was pointless from the beginning, due to ''human'' ingenuity. He then detonates a nuclear warhead hidden in his chest, fatally poisoning Meruem]].
52* EccentricMentor: At his first appearance, he's an old, laid-back guy. Later on, he turns out to be much more dangerous than he looks.
53* FantasticFightingStyle: Shingen-Ryu Kung Fu.
54* FightingSpirit: The 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva. Netero emits a multi-armed Nen construct behind himself which takes the form of a gigantic statue of Guanyin, a Bodhisattva that is associated with compassion as venerated by East Asian Buddhists. To start an attack, Netero first clasps his hands together in a fluid motion, as if in prayer. After that, the arms on the statue strike down upon their targets in conjunction with Netero's own hand motions.
55* {{Foreshadowing}}:
56** [[spoiler:After having rated [[TheForceIsStrongWithThisOne Pitou's strength]] he said that a sacrifice might be necessary, and after wearing his Kokoro t-shirt (that he wears only in serious fights) he said it might be the last time he'll do so.]]
57** A more subtle one is in the opening to the Chimera Ant arc. Netero can be seen standing in front of the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva on his left leg, while praying with only his right arm as his left is obscured. [[spoiler:He would take on a similar pose while fighting Meruem, but not out of choice- the other 2 limbs have been sliced off. On a similar note, much earlier on when Netero is playing ball with Gon and Killua during the Hunter's exam, he specifically avoids using the two limbs which would he would lose against Meruem, but it's harder to prove that this connection was planned.]]
58* AGoodWayToDie: [[spoiler:He was satisfied by his way of dying because he wanted to fight an opponent way stronger than him and do his best.]]
59* HandicappedBadass: [[spoiler:Continue fighting against Meruem despite losing his arm in the fight.]]
60* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Averted. Netero stated that human potential is limitless and we know that Nen can [[LongLived slow down]]/[[TheAgeless prevent aging]]. So, theoretically, a talentless person will require much more time to catch up, but eventually will catch up. Netero himself managed to fight with Meruem on semi-equal ground due to [[TrainingFromHell insanely over-the-top training]] (even by Shonen standards).
61* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Via nuclear bomb. [[SenselessSacrifice It didn't stick]]... [[DoubleSubverted except it did, via radiation]].]]
62* HeroicSelfDeprecation: For him a good Hunter should be prone to [[JumpedAtTheCall jump at the call]] like Ging and his son. He lacks this.
63* HiddenDepths: When he first appears in the Hunter Exam arc, he seems like an eccentric old man, but even then it's made clear that there's a massive power gap between him and Gon/Killua. We don't get a good idea of what he's really like or how he got that strong until the Chimera Ant arc, where he reappears as one of its key players and a proud martial artist who committed to a lifetime of perfecting his technique.
64*** There are also hints during the Hunter Exam that while he does seem reasonable, that he doesn't like being on the backfoot and he's slightly amoral, which become very apparent when in the Chimera Ant conflict that his hubris as a martial artist and unscrupulous nature are shown in full.
65* HorrifyingTheHorror: At the conclusion of his fight with Meruem, just before [[spoiler:[[TakingYouWithMe piercing his own heart to activate]] [[NukeEm the Rose]]]] he mocks the King for his ignorance of [[HumansAreTheRealMonsters Humanity's true power]]. The narration makes a point about Meruem having never felt fear in his life before and being properly terrified by [[spoiler:this dying old man]].
66* InsistentTerminology: [[spoiler:In his video will]] Netero mentions multiple times that his desire for the Hunter Association to reach the Dark Continent is just a request from an old man and it is '''not''' an order. [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial The Zodiacs immediately realise that it is totally an order]].
67* IntergenerationalFriendship: Netero is shown to be friends with many people who are much younger than him. The Zodiacs, the Shingen-ryu Kenpo martial artists (including Wing and Biscuit), Morel, Knov, and many other Hunters. Even old characters like Linne and especially Zeno are not nearly as old as Netero.
68* IveComeTooFar: He started to feel sympathy towards Meruem, but had to continue his mission in order to not have the Hunter Association take the fall and seeing the potential dangers of Meruem's reign.
69* KirkSummation: [[spoiler:His final speech to Meruem, in response to the latter's claim that he is but an individual. Possibly doubles as ShutUpKirk since it was meant to be [[HumansAreTheRealMonsters anything but heroic]].]]
70--> [[spoiler:''I am '''not''' alone. Don't underestimate the human race, Meruem. [...] You understand ''nothing'' of humanity's infinite potential for [[AlternateCharacterReading evolution/malice]].'']]
71* LightningBruiser: While Netero's strength is immense, his most fearsome asset is his ludicrous speed. He [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower learned]] to punch faster than sound as well as perform the prayer motion which controls the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, making his attacks effectively impossible to dodge, which blindsided not only Neferpitou but even Meruem, who was otherwise stronger in most aspects but still could not keep up with Netero's insane speed, so he opted to take as many as Netero's attacks as he could with his [[NighInvulnerable insane toughness]] to start scouting for patterns in Netero's attacks and [[DeliberateInjuryGambit eventually find an infinitestimally short gap between his attacks for a]] CounterAttack.
72* LikeAGodToMe: The people he defeated after his years spent training on the mountain saw him as this.
73* LivingLegend: Prior to his death, he was the oldest Hunter to be alive, and he is famed for many stories, such as being on the Dark Continent Expedition (twice) and having survive a fight with Maha Zoldyck (who is still alive).
74* MadeOfIron: Killua accuses him of being made of ''steel'' when he kicks Netero's pivot leg, only for Killua to be the one hurt by it.
75* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Losing a leg? Just stops the wound with sheer will and goes on. Losing an arm? Goes on.
76* MeditationPowerUp: He meditated for a while before fighting Meruem. And his aura was so menacing it scared Killua from miles away.
77* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Hyakushiki Kannon is multi-armed, powerful and extremely fast.
78* NightmareFace: Does this several times. For example, after the Hyakushiki Zero he [[spoiler:loses his teeth, musculature and his eyes shrink into black, beady orbs looking quite a bit like a gholish wraith or a taunting Buddha.]]
79* NominalHero: A potential interpretation. Netero's willing to accept ''[[ExactWords anyone]]'' into the Hunter Association should they pass the exam, regardless of where they fall on the morality scale. During the Chimera Ant arc he definitely veers into HeroAntagonist territory; rejecting Meruem's HeelRealization because [[spoiler:he knows the Hunter Association will be held responsible by the Governments should he fail]] rather than for altruistic reasons.
80* OddFriendship: With Zeno who is an assassin. This might come from his relationships with Zeno's predecessors, Maha and Zzigg, the latter having explored part of the Dark Continent with him.
81* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: Used this on Meruem. He didn't know his name so Netero promised he'd tell him if he managed to make him admit defeat.
82* OldMaster: He is the grand master of Shingen-Ryu Kung Fu. Many Hunters are his disciples.
83* OurPresidentsAreDifferent: He is the president of the Hunter Association, and is a solid mix of President Action and President Affable.
84* PowerBornOfMadness: How Meruem views him. He believes that only a truly insane human could train to become this powerful.
85* PresentAbsence: [[spoiler:His HeroicSacrifice in the Chimera Ant Arc is the impetus of the following arc cenetring on finding his successor.]]
86* RapidAging: After his Hyakushiki Zero, Netero ages rapidly as a result of his aura being completely drained.
87* RapidFireFisticuffs: Hundred Guanyin. Due to Netero’s own impossibly enhanced speed, the attacks of the statue are so fast that they may appear to originate from another dimension.
88* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: While definitely not that old, he was already an old geezer when Zeno (Killua's ''grandfather'') was a baby, and was one of the few people to get the best of ''Zeno's'' grandfather in a fight.
89* SenselessSacrifice: [[spoiler:It seemed like it was this with Mereum managing to survive due to the aid of his Royal Guard restoring him, making Netero's death pointless, but it's subverted due to the residual radiation causing Meruem to die anyway from radiation poisoning along with the people with the most direct contact with him (Royal Guards/Komugi)- with Netero getting the last laugh posthumously.]]
90* SignificantWardrobeShift: Shaves down his beard and trades his robes in for a T-shirt and shorts in preparation for his fight with Meruem. It's noted that he only wears the shirt for serious fights and that he may not wear it again.
91* SmugSuper: It's not immediately obvious, but he views Meruem's genuine compliment as an infuriating insult to his power, which causes him to go on the offensive rather than being reactionary in the first half of the fight.
92* SpamAttack: His palm strikes.
93* StoryBreakerPower: His power is to summon a GuardianEntity that is able to land strikes at blinding speeds and fire an energy blast of immense power as a last resort. It took Meruem, the UltimateLifeForm to give an actual challenge, and even then, the Chimera Ant had to rely on his durability and endurance, just to find the minuscule gap to even land a hit after enduring several rounds of being hit. Anyone else in that position would've been one-shotted immediately.
94** Discussed. He outclasses everyone else in the setting due to his Nen ability (which requires both absurd amounts of concentration as well as physical skill) and he finds himself somewhat bored with life as he is unable to defeat an opponent of his skill. When he fights Meruem, he's elated that he can finally fight an opponent to his fullest, even if that opponent is an existential threat to mankind.
95* SuperSenses: He managed to overhear the heroes and Morel joking at his expense in a restaurant by the East Gordeau border... ''from the capital city and promptly sent a witty reply.''
96* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: Ordered the Zodiacs to try to conquer the Dark Continent before his death but wanted to act as if the choice was theirs.
97* StrongFamilyResemblance: [[spoiler:With his son Beyond Netero.]]
98* StrongFleshWeakSteel: When Killua kicks Netero's pivot leg as hard as he can trying to get a volleyball out of his hands, ''Killua'' is on the hurting end and rolls around in pain while literally comparing the old man's legs to steel.
99* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:The whole fight with Meruem was decided from the beginning. If Netero couldn't kill him with his abilities, he would trigger a nuke the moment his heart stopped beating, which would either blast the King apart or slowly take him down with radiation poisoning. And since it was contagious, it also took down two out of three Royal Guards.]]
100* TechnicalPacifist: He prefers peace, but [[BloodKnight he does like to fight]] a WorthyOpponent once in a while.
101* ThanatosGambit: [[spoiler:Yeah, he died but Meruem was screwed.]]
102* TookAThirdOption: [[spoiler:Die fighting a greater foe or let the Chimaeras win? Better yet, fool the King into thinking he was serious about fighting him and just poisoning him with radiation. [[CombatPragmatist The sheer pragmatism is amazing]].]]
103* TrainingFromHell: To a level that could have driven a lesser man insane. When Netero was 46 years old, he did 10,000 punches a day and it took 18 hours to finish 10,000 punches on his first day. After two years, when he completed the 10,000 punches, the sun had not yet set. At the age of 50, he completed 10,000 punches in less than one hour and had more time to pray.
104* TrainingMontage: He would train to the pinnacle of human physical limits by doing 10,000 punches in one day and then go past that to do it in less than an hour. This was before he acquired Nen to truly refine it to even more absurd levels.
105* TricksterMentor: Very well known for being one. An example is when Killua and Gon are back on the borders of NGL, after fleeing from Pitou and leaving Kite behind, and are greeted by Netero, Morel and Knov. Netero gives Gon and Killua two halves of two different shogi tiles and one month to defeat Morel's disciples - Knuckle and Shoot - and return with the other halves of their shogi tiles. He would then allow them to join his Chimera Ant extermination team. Gon actually wanted to take this one step further and get this done ''in one week'', which earns him a punch to the face by Biscuit, who clarified that when Netero gives you a month, a reasonable time would be ''a year''. It turns out that while Gon and Killua were lacking strength (and the latter also lacked the commitment to fight a potentially stronger opponent), Knuckle and Shoot also had their issues with both being {{Reluctant Warrior}}s (Knuckle is too nice to animals and tries to reason, while Shoot in general is a bit of a coward and does not wish to harm). All four eventually join Morel and Knov, resolve their issues and become key players in solving the Chimera Ant crisis, although it was Netero who [[spoiler:killed Meruem and two of his three Royal Guards, by blowing himself up with the Poor Man's Rose]].
106* WeakButSkilled: But only in comparison with the Chimera Ants. All members of the Royal Guard have much, much greater Nen reserves and abilities than he or any other human for that matter, but Netero is so unbelievably StrongAndSkilled by human ''and'' Ant standards that his superior experience and the sheer speed of his attacks allow him to Karate Chop the shit out of Pitou before they even knew what hit them and go mano-a-mano with the King. [[spoiler:He combos this with CombatPragmatist as Netero is petty enough to have a pocket nuke implanted in his heart in case things went sour, which they did when Meruem tanked his Nen DeathOrGloryAttack.]]
107* TheWorfEffect: He comments that Pitou could be stronger than him. After this Colt confirms that any Royal Guard could beat him. Later appears to be unlikely though, as his brief encounter with Pitou has him smoothly flicking away the bloodthirsty Ant.
108* WorldsStrongestMan: Seen this way by pretty much everyone in the series, but in his own opinion, he's gotten too old for the title to truly apply to him. [[ObfuscatingStupidity But it's hard to tell whether this is true or not]].
109* XanatosGambit: [[spoiler:He knew that his encounter with Meruem would lead to the latter's death one way or another- if not by defeating him in combat, then by unleashing the [[NukeEm Rose]] on him.]]
110-->'''Meruem''': [[spoiler:"''I see... you've had me in checkmate since the start.''"]]

119Former Vice-chairman of the HA and Rat of the Zodiac. Despised by most of the zodiac, but has a huge faction of supporters within the association. Claims to be an able negotiator and often mentions the need to save time and money, yet he's a master of needlessly complicating things. He becomes the 13th chairman at the end of the election, only to retire immediately and give the position to Cheadle. After that, he leaves the Zodiac to join Beyond Netero's expedition team.
120----
121* AloofAlly: When he was still a Zodiac he and Ging were the only ones who never teamed up for missions.
122* ArcVillain: Of the 13th Hunter Chairman Election Arc.
123%%* BadassInANiceSuit:
124* BatmanGambit: An absolute master of this.
125%%* BishieSparkle:
126* BitchInSheepsClothing: That cheery smile of his never reaches his eyes, especially if he's been interrupted. Played with in that instead of being drawn in, people find him off-putting and insufferable because of it.
127* BlueAndOrangeMorality: It's impossible to get a read on this guy. He appears to have morals, of a sort, but he deliberately keeps them vague and contradictory to help him mess with people. When the Zodiacs break down their various political alignments, Pariston is in a group of his own - "Extreme Leftist Patriot" (Ging, who is almost equally imcomprehensible, simply gets labeled as "Dumbass").
128* TheChessmaster: He runs laps around everyone else during the election of the 13th Chairman.
129* CrazyPrepared: Cooperating with Beyond for the trip to the Dark Continent, he found competent allies for him.
130%%* CorruptBureaucrat:
131* DeathGlare: Every zodiac member but Ging gives him that.
132* DissonantSerenity: Part of what makes him come off as strange. His smile never leaves his face, even when someone would normally be offended.
133* {{Expy}}: Of [[Manga/LevelE Baka Ki El Dogra]].
134* HiddenDepths: [[spoiler:Not only is he torn up over Netero's death, but he does what he does not to be an ass, but [[GenghisGambit to ensure there is always someone who will fight against the Chairman and ensure the Hunter Association never becomes "boring"]]. He later leaves his position at the Zodiacs to prompt the human nations (referred to as the V5 and later as the V6) and thus the Hunters Association into exploring the outside world.]]
135* ForTheLulz: Another trait he shares with Ging.
136* TheFriendNobodyLikes: To the rest of the Zodiacs, a trait he shares with Ging, but he's at least a bit more popular with the Hunter's Association at large than him.
137* TheGadfly: Knows exactly how to push the Zodiacs' buttons and enjoys every moment of it. This is especially true for Cheadle, who clashes with him during the election.
138--> '''Cheadle:''' Why? Why do I feel so irritated whenever he opens his mouth?
139* {{Keet}}: Very upbeat.
140* ManChild: Treats everything like a game. But unlike Ging, who gets bored easily, he's relentless.
141%%* ManipulativeBastard:
142* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: His name is a clear anagram of Creator/ParisHilton.
143* ObstructiveBureaucrat: He became Vice Chairman solely to be one of these. Netero kept him around apparently for his own amusement, but mostly because Pariston is a remarkable contrarian compared to the other Zodiacs.
144* PerpetualSmiler: His grin never moves.
145* ReverseArmFold: Can sometimes be seen with his arm in this position.
146* TheRival: Ging's.
147* RivalsTeamUp: Played with. The fact that the two former Zodiacs are both in Beyond's team should make them allies but with Pariston's attitude, that isn't likely. They gave the impression they will fight together to face Muherr's team and it turned out it was a plan for Pariston to learn about Ging's abilities.
148* SharpDressedMan: He always wears a suit.
149* TheSociopath: Seems to be this. [[spoiler:Later zigzagged - he's legitimately heartbroken over Netero's death, but still seems to view other people as playthings more than anything else.]]
150* StepfordSmiler: His smile hardly ever flickers, partly because it makes it difficult to guess what he's thinking. [[spoiler:He puts on an infuriating happy face for the entire election, only to break down in tears after it's all over. Apparently all his scheming was just his way of paying tribute to Netero.]]
151* TakeAThirdOption: Similarly to Ging except his "option 4" meant death.
152%%* TooKinkyToTorture:
153* TranquilFury: [[spoiler:He finds Ging annoying since he joined Beyond's team and think he will end up hating someone for the first time but you won't know by looking at his face]].
154* {{Troll}}: His primary motivation and defining character trait.
155** He likes making things as needlessly complicated and drawn-out as possible, and making fun of his fellow Zodiacs. [[spoiler:He wins the Chairman Election, only to immediately resign and appoint Cheadle, who was his most vocal detractor. In fact, he never even wanted to be Chairman; he originally took up the position of vice just to "play" with Netero by causing him problems. Naturally, this pissed Cheadle off royally.]]
156** [[spoiler:In Chapter 343 he admits to Ging that he only feels happy when he is hated by the others and can't help but try to destroy everything he loves.]]
157* WorthyOpponent: He sees Ging this way. [[spoiler:At the conclusion of the election he reveals that he believed Ging was going to win the whole time, even though Pariston was the leader in votes by a wide margin, and his victory was as much a surprise to him as it was to the rest of the Zodiac.]] He later admits that Ging may become the first person he will truly hate in his life.

166A Triple Star Disease Hunter and Dog of the Zodiacs, as well as the 14th and current chairwoman of the Hunter Association. Pariston said she's the most competent of them overall. She is intelligent, serious, and level-headed.

172* BreakTheHaughty: Famed for being the master of procedure among the Zodiac, but winds up totally humbled by the end of the election.
173* CombatMedic: Incurable Disease Hunter. She also takes personal charge of [[spoiler:Leorio's medical education as a favor to make him join the Zodiacs]].
174* DogsAreDumb: Inverted.
175* GreenEyedMonster: She is incredibly jealous of Pariston because his personality is similar to Netero's.
176* GoodWearsWhite: Wears a green and white dress and has a strong moral compass.
177* TheLeader: A bit downplayed once she becomes the new Chairman, while she has the strongest voice in the Association, the job of running the Association is now more of a team effort between all of the Zodiacs, not just her.
178* LittleBitBeastly: As the Dog of the Zodiacs, she's chosen to alter her appearance to resemble her namesake, with a dog-eared headband and a black (fake?) nose.
179* MeaningfulName: Her last name refers to the Yorkshire terrier, a breed of dog.
180* MentorArchetype: She takes a shine to Leorio during the Chairman Election Arc and asks him [[spoiler:to join the Zodiacs as the new Boar in exchange for taking him under her wing and teaching him all she knows about medicine. He accepts and is working in the medical station with her during the trip to the Dark Continent.]]
181* OurPresidentsAreDifferent: She becomes the new chairman of the Hunters association following the election.
182* OutGambitted: She's hopelessly out of her depth against Pariston.
183* TheSmartGuy: One of the smartest members of the Zodiac.
184* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: The "Brains of the Zodiac" and she wears glasses.
185* SpecsOfAwesome: Wears glasses and is a Triple Star Hunter on top of being a Zodiac.
186* StrongerThanTheyLook: Despite being a slight woman, she used to be Netero's sparring partner and Kanzai believes she is stronger than Morel and Knov.

190!!The Zodiacs
191
192Twelve powerful hunters chosen by Netero to take over the Hunter Association in his absence, themed after the Chinese zodiac. All but Pariston and Ging changed their appearances, names, and personalities to match their zodiac character out of respect for Netero. These two eventually left the group.
193----
194[[folder:In General]]
195* AnimalMotifTeam: Each of them represent an animal of the Japanese version of the EasternZodiac and respect their chairman so much that all of them alter their appearance, personality, and name to resemble the animal they represent. Averted for Ging and Pariston. Later with Leorio and Kurapika (as they've been just recruited to replace the former two mentioned).
196* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: You have to be strong if you were to become a Zodiac under Netero's rule. Since he was a BloodKnight, he demanded that a Zodiac would have to spar with him once in a while. By the time of the expedition of the Dark Continent has been announced, [[spoiler:Ging and Pariston withdrew from the Zodiacs, and later Leorio and Kurapika are recruited to replace them. Leorio is recruited by Cheadle because he's the "most respected Hunter in the Association", and Kurapika is recruited by Mizaistom due to Leorio's recommendation. Neither of the two have earned any stars, and they are probably not as powerful as the other ten Zodiacs; certainly Leorio isn't]].
197* BadassCrew: They are all strong enough to be Netero's sparring partners and all of them are Star Hunters. The latter was no longer the case after Ging and Pariston left and were replaced by Kurapika and Leorio.
198* BunnyEarsLawyer: They're a rather silly, colorful bunch, but they're still highly experienced Hunters with a great deal of authority in the Association. One of them ''literally'' wears bunny ears!
199* CodeName: It's said that some of them use code names to match their zodiac.
200* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: They all adore Netero to the point that almost all of them changed their names, personalities and/or appearances to match their Zodiac animal (except Ging and Pariston) and they are top Hunters like him.
201* LittleBitBeastly: As mentioned, their loyalty to Netero is such that most of them have altered their appearances to match their animal.

211->''"I just want to enjoy my path...that's all."''
212
213Legendary hunter, former Boar of the Zodiac, Greed Island creator, Kite's mentor, Gon's father. Double Star Hunter on the level of Triple Star Hunters, and it is stated that he could easily become a Triple Star Hunter if he wasn't so lazy. Admired by Satotz for his pioneering archaeological work. He later joins Beyond Netero's expedition team after resigning from the Zodiacs.
214----
215* TheAce: The best example in the series. He is one of the best Hunters and is in the top 5 of the strongest Nen users. According to Kite in the fillers, he should be a 3 star Hunter but is not because of his laziness. Skilled Hunters like Satotz and Kite look up to him and he is very charismatic, he has a lot of contacts and friends who respect him and are not Hunters too. Heck, [[spoiler:even the Zodiacs, who dislike his behaviors, know how good he is. He is the only one who can stand up to Pariston (who acknowledged him as his rival) and Cheadle admitted it.]] Balancing this is the fact that he's really not a good father to Gon, which cost him some popularity during the Election. Even Gon admits that he can't really think of Ging as his father.
216* ActionDad: With a lot of stress on the Action. Rather iffy at the whole "Dad" bit, though.
217* AdventurerArchaeologist: He is an Archeological Hunter.
218* AloofAlly: When he was still a Zodiac he and Pariston were the only ones who never teamed up for missions.
219* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: He was always the one to find Mito when she was lost.
220* AlwaysSecondBest: Despite his reputation as one of the most powerful people, he is attempting to catch up to [[spoiler:Don Freecss, an ancestor of his who was strong and savvy enough to have traveled half of the Dark Continent's coastline and submit back a book detailing what he saw. Ging suspects Don had become even more powerful upon exploring the Dark Continent due to the miracle cures he found there, including one that induces immortality, and thus Ging believes Don is still alive and still studying the Dark Continent.]]
221* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: [[spoiler:Joins Beyond's team and declares himself as the NumberTwo after clearly showing his intent to beat up anyone opposing to him.]]
222* BadassBoast: To Pariston.
223--> "I'll play with you personally from now on. Until you beg me to stop."
224* BatmanGambit: His go-to method of doing practically anything. And, he's rarely wrong enough to screw up that badly at it, either.
225* BeatThemAtTheirOwnGame: He does this with [[spoiler:the recruits for the expedition to the Dark Continent]] to demonstrate his qualifications to be Number Two.
226* BigBrotherInstinct: As children, he and Mito would go on adventures on their hometown island. And whenever Mito would get lost, Ging would always come and find her.
227* BrilliantButLazy: Doesn't want the job of Hunter Chairman, even though he probably could have won the election.
228* ButtMonkey: Pretty much the entire Hunter organization is fed up with his crap by the end of the Election arc, and he can hardly open his mouth without getting shouted down.
229* CallingTheOldManOut: The reaction of pretty much all the Hunters during the election after seeing how irresponsible of a father he is. Mito had this reaction too, but [[AvertedTrope Gon himself doesn't care]].
230* TheChessMaster: Even Pariston considers Ging a rival when it comes to mind games.
231--> "If my target moves just as I want them to...now ''that's'' a real hunt."
232* CunningLinguist: Knows multiple languages.
233* {{Delinquent}}: Considered as one as among the Zodiacs. He also uses a delinquent tactic to outsmart them.
234* DisappearedDad: Left Gon in his cousin Mito's care to pursue his ambitions as a hunter. Then deleted or classified all records of himself from the Web and Hunter Organization database.
235* EveryManHasHisPrice: [[spoiler:Proposed to give to all the members recruited by Pariston for the expedition to the Dark Continent the double of what Beyond proposed if they accept him as NumberTwo. Though not everybody accepted it, it helped.]]
236* {{Expy}}: Looks a lot like [[Manga/YuYuHakusho Yusuke Urameshi]] with stubble. It's even Lampshaded in a bonus comic.
237--> '''Yusuke:''' What do you mean I'm in the wrong manga? I'll kill you! Who the hell is Ging?
238* ForTheLulz: The main reason the others Zodiacs dislike his attitude is that he does things only because it amuses him.
239* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Is this to the vast majority of the Hunter Organization. He's highly regarded and admired for his skills and knows most, if not all of them on a personal level, and every single one of them can immediately agree that he is a '''''colossal''''' pain in the ass.
240%%* GeniusBruiser:
241* TheGift: Gon is gifted and Razor said he [[SuperPowerfulGenetics inherited his talent from him.]]
242* GroundPunch: Coupled with RapidFireFisticuffs when he used Leorio's ability.
243* HatedByAll: The Hunter community dislikes him due to his [[BystanderSyndrome shirking of responsibilities]] (except when absolutely necessary as a Zodiac), [[LovableRogue constant rule-breaking]], and ParentalAbandonment. It's contrasted with Pariston's sparkling image to an ironic effect. He's apparently so unpopular that when Leorio punched him out on live TV, he suddenly skyrocketed to the third most popular choice in the Hunter election.
244* HeroOfAnotherStory: Ging's legitimately earned the admiration of many people.
245* HistoryRepeats: [[spoiler:His fascination with the Journey to the New World and its legendary author Don Freecss mirrors Gon's now-concluded pursuit of Ging.]]
246* InsaneTrollLogic: A specialty of his. Best seen when he explains that his reason for not going to visit his ''comatose'' son is that "he never asked", likely fully anticipating the [[TalkToTheFist sort of response]] it'd provoke.
247* IntimidationDemonstration: How he mentally broke one of Beyond's more hostile subordinates.
248* {{Irony}}: Ging asks Elena to make sure that Gon will teleport to Kite if he uses Accompany to bring his friends along instead of Magnetic Force to travel alone since he's actually socially awkward. Gon meets him in an auditorium with the ''entire Hunter Association'' as the audience watching and willing to give him crap for his negligence.
249* ItsAllAboutMe:
250--> ''"Hunters are a bunch of egomaniacs. We set aside everything else to get what we want."''
251* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite acting like a selfish pain in the ass most of the time, he's a pretty decent guy all things considered. He set up ruin excavations and preservation projects out of his own pocket, treated Razor, a criminal and murderer like a human being which deeply touched Razor, and after one of Beyond's team told him that the reason he needed money was to care for his sick sister and make sure she would be OK even if he dies following Ging, Ging's response was, "Sorry, but after hearing that, there's no way I can let you die".
252%%* JumpedAtTheCall
253* LikeFatherLikeSon: He's a WildCard with a somewhat flexible grasp on morality and responsibility who enjoys adventures more than anything else. This is the reason why, for all his apparent ParentalNeglect, Gon never holds a grudge against him and in fact has a very easy time bonding with him when they meet at the World Tree. Ging knows his son well, and even when he was in mortal peril, he accurately predicted that Gon will survive and thus had no reason to worry.
254* ManChild: Talked enthusiastically about his game for hours with an ex-convict. Sometimes seems as self-centered as a little kid. Has a reputation for only thinking about his own entertainment.
255%%* MagneticHero:
256* NoHeroToHisValet: Mito isn't terribly impressed by his accomplishments as a Hunter, and (rightly) sees him as an unreliable ManChild who abandoned his own son to her care.
257* NumberTwo: [[spoiler:In Beyond's team, forcefully replacing Pariston.]]
258* ObfuscatingStupidity: Appears short-sighted and careless to other Zodiac members, yet predicted their entire meeting, dictated the rules beforehand, and got exactly what he wanted from it. He even included an unreasonable request he knew they would reject, in order to dispel any suspicion.
259* ParentalNeglect: To Gon. To Ging's credit at least he's honest about it and doesn't expect adoration from his son. Also, he left Gon to be raised by reliable people (Mito and his grandma) and did somehow support Gon in his quest to become a hunter.
260--> '''On a tape recording:''' "I don't want to see you."
261** Notably, while other characters are very critical of Ging's poor parenting skills, Gon himself does not particularly mind, [[ItsTheJourneyThatMatters since he enjoys the]] "hunt" for him and he never really had much expectations for him as a father figure to begin with since he sees him as more of a friend or a mentor (he only ever calls him "Ging" rather than "dad").
262* PermaStubble: Never ''quite'' clean-shaven, making him look perpetually scruffy.
263* PowerCopying: After being struck by [[spoiler:Leorio's]] Nen ability, Ging figured out how to use it himself. It's deliberately left vague whether this is just him [[AwesomenessByAnalysis being really good at analyzing other people's abilities]]; Ging dismisses it as a talent towards punching-based Hatsu in general allowing him to replicate, but given Pariston was actively trying to scout out Ging's abilities at the time, that might be a bluff to reveal as little information as possible to his rival.
264* PresentAbsence: The series' MythArc is about Gon becoming a Hunter himself in order to find him.
265* RapidFireFisticuffs: [[SubvertedTrope Via intimidation]].
266* RenaissanceMan: A master of archaeology, linguistics, game theory, Nen manipulation, the list goes on. No one really knows the full depths of Ging's genius since he usually [[BrilliantButLazy can't be bothered to show it off.]]
267* TheRival: Pariston's.
268* RivalsTeamUp: Played with. The fact that they are both in Beyond's team should make them allies but with Pariston's attitude...They gave the impression they will fight together to face Muherr's team and it turned out it was a plan for Pariston to learn about Ging's abilities. Though Muehrr later reveals does not mind pairing with Ging and Pariston, he still attacked Ging because he made the assumption that they could be bribed; Ging explains that he bribed them in order to confirm that they were the real deal and that they were not venturing into the outside world for petty reasons.
269* TheRunAway: He ran away to be a Hunter when he was younger.
270* ScarfOfAssKicking: During his travels Ging [[OffscreenMomentOfAwesome kicked many asses with his scarf.]]
271* SociallyAwkwardHero: Pointed out by Elena- a lot of his motivation for avoiding Gon and sending him off on weird adventures isn't just him being a StealthMentor like he insists, he's just ''that bashful and awkward'' and has next to no fatherhood skills.
272* SpotlightStealingSquad: He is arguably a main character alongside Kurapika and Leorio in the Dark Continent expedition arc.
273* StealthMentor: Despite being on the run from his own son, he still uses Greed Island as a chance to train him.
274* StrongFamilyResemblance: With Gon.
275* TakeAThirdOption: When an assassin asked him to choose between "option 1" and "option 2" he literally chose a third one.
276* TricksterMentor: Where to start? He... doesn't exactly set out to ''teach'', and his methods are less "stealthy" than "using autopilot from two continents away". Yet, he still provides learning experiences: if you can keep up. Good luck with that...
277* WildCard: He acts as this in both the Zodiacs and Beyond's group, and may be even more unpredictable than Pariston, since whereas Pariston will usually pick a course of action most likely to screw with other people, Ging just goes with whatever amuses him most and then stops when he gets bored. When the Zodiacs are breaking down their various political factions, he's simply labeled "Idiot." Later joins Beyond's group precisely to prevent Pariston from sabotaging their mission.

456* BluffingTheMurderer: [[spoiler:He manages to trick the guard Tuffdy into confessing the murder of Prince Momoze, by pretending to work for Benjamin and help Tuffdy get away with it and by blaming his colleague. Once he's got the confession, he immediately strangles Tuffdy.]]
457* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: It's even lampshaded by Tonpa. He talks too much and seems very social and friendly, but he is still a professional spy and assassin. You [[BewareTheNiceOnes do not want to piss him off.]]
458* CurbStompBattle: His battle with Gon in the Hunter Exam basically lasted one move; Hanzo flash stepped behind him and chopped his neck. Gon goes down, his head is spinning, and he's incapacitated. He remarks that, in a conventional match, he would have been declared the winner immediately. After this point, it shifts into a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown.
459* DoppelgangerAttack: Being a ninja, having such an ability was obvious. However, he cannot move or let others touch his real body while his Nen Doppelgänger is out.
460* DumbassHasAPoint: After he accidently shouts out the instructions on how to make the Sushi dish out of frustration when Menchi said it wasn’t good enough, Menchi gets furious with him and tells him that it takes years to make proper sushi, Hanzo responds back telling her why she chose it for the test if it’s that complicated.
461* {{Expy}}: Of Kazemaru from ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'', Togashi's previous work. They are nearly identical (two bald ninjas), though Hanzo is the much friendlier version.
462* HighlyVisibleNinja: He doesn't hide the fact that he's a ninja. In the 13th Hunter Chairman Election Arc, he acts like an AttentionWhore.
463* MakeItLookLikeAnAccident: [[spoiler:Make it look like a suicide, actually. Hanzo quickly dispatched Momoze's murderer, by strangling him with his back to it, later hanging him to make it look like he committed suicide.]]
464* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: His Hunter Exam match with Gon lasted over 3 hours and was entirely him beating the crap out of the kid, breaking his arm, and then bloodying his forehead.
465* NothingPersonal: While Hanzo is an overall NiceGuy, he doesn't hold back on trying to force Gon to submit in their fight.
466* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: Throughout the Hunter Exam. Hanzo was largely a background player, but like the main characters, was a rookie. In Hanzo's case, he passed the exam largely with ease; being the third person to finish the Trick Tower behind Hisoka and [[spoiler:Illumi]] and in the final stage was assessed by Netero as being the top candidate along with Gon based on potential. It's also mentioned that he managed to master Nen before Gon and Killua.
467* PutOnABus: Is away from the plot for several arcs on his search to find the elusive Hermit's Scroll. He briefly appears in the 13th Hunter Chairman Election Arc, [[spoiler:and is hired by Kurapika to to act as a bodyguard for Kakin Empire Princes in the Dark Continent Arc]].
468* TortureTechnician: In the final test of the Hunter Exam, Hanzo is forced to battle Gon. The only way to pass the final test to is force your opponent to admit defeat and Gon refuses to do so even after being severely beaten. Hanzo breaks Gon's arm as a part of his torturing skills to force him to admit defeat, but Gon still refuses. He willingly bows out of the battle, giving Gon the victory needed for him to pass the final test. Killua remarked that if Hanzo used some of his other torture methods Gon would have easily surrendered. After his match with Gon, he fights Pokkle and is able to quickly make him surrender with the same method.
469* UnusualEyebrows: In the 2011 anime.

481* BackForTheDead: After being largely absent since the first arc, Pokkle finally returns for the Chimera Ant Arc. He doesn't last long.
482* ClarkKentOutfit: Shown [[spoiler:while he's getting his brain poked and prodded by Pitou]] that he has at least a four pack going on.

532A Gourmet Hunter, charged with hunting down rare ingredients, and one half of the second phase's examination team.
533----
534* ActionGirl: All Hunters are legitimate badasses, and Menchi is no exception.
535* AdaptationDyeJob: Her hair in the first anime was pink with yellow hairbands. In the second, it's turquoise with red headbands. The positioning of her top knots is also slightly rearranged.
536* AdaptationExpansion: Gets screentime in the 1999 version, being a [[ShipTease quasi]] SexyMentor to both Leorio and Hanzo while also serving as the resident MsFanservice for the duration of the Hunters Exam arc.
537* AdaptationalSkimpiness: The 1999 version ''really'' capitalizes on her being MsFanservice, getting additional scenes where she's clad in only a ModestyTowel and a [[SexyBacklessOutfit backless dress]].
538* BerserkButton: Don't insult food or Gourmet Hunters.
539* BigEater: Along with Buhara, she has an incredible stomach capacity. But in her case, she's very picky that the food she eats is ''good'', while Buhara is essentially a garbage disposal.
540* BlackBraAndPanties: She wears a black bra along side her already revealing attire. It's hard to tell if she also has the panties due to her daisy dukes.
541* ChefOfIron: What being a Gourmet Hunter is all about.
542* CombatStilettos: Her boots have tall heels on them as well as several cute feminine pink bows. In the original manga and anime, they prove to be [[AwesomeButImpractical impractical]] for the task of tightrope walking across Spider Eagle webs, so she takes them off and [[HandyFeet uses her bared feet and toes to steady her]]. In the 2011 remake, she's [[AdaptationalBadass skilled enough that she can cross the webs in the stilettos effortlessly.]]
543* TheExtremistWasRight: All Hunter examinees admit that her pursuit of ingredients and flavors are worth the risk, even to the point of putting one's life in danger.
544* FatAndSkinny: The skinny (well, fit) to Buhara's fat, overlapping this with HugeGuyTinyGirl.
545* HugeGuyTinyGirl: She is not tiny but Buhara is HUGE.
546* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's strict, short-tempered and easily gets angry, but she's a good person at heart and also has a soft spot for Gon.
547* MaleGaze: She is subjected to a few closeup shots that emphasize her choice of dress. Netero glances at her chest and there's a closeup shot presumably from his POV. The 1999 version even has Hanzo ''meticulously'' taking pictures of her in a SexyBacklessOutfit during the epilogue of the Hunter Exams arc.
548* MsFanservice: Seriously, take one look at her {{Stripperific}} garbs and you'll wonder how she manages to walk out in broad daylight without getting drooled over.
549* NotHimself: Menchi is derailed in her duties as an examiner due to her sensing Hisoka's gigantic murderous bloodlust, causing her to become unbending and irritable which in turn leads her to prematurely and bluntly dismiss all the candidates of her Hunter's Examination stage. She is called on this by both Netero and Buhara, the former one allowing her to redo her stage with different, more permissive parameters so that there are ''at least some candidates left''.
550** Interestingly also causes an example of this trope applying to Netero. Despite spending much of his life dedicating himself to martial arts, prayer and extreme focus, as well as having a Hatsu that literally involves a spiritual idol, Menchi's sex appeal is so enormous that when Netero arrives to suggest she re-test the examinees he's constantly ogling her huge chest the entire time, though she doesn't notice it and simply apologizes for going overboard.
551* OfCorsetsSexy: She has a short-sleeved variant of a corset underneath her bra.
552* OrgasmicallyDelicious: Her pursuit as a Hunter Chef is to find these types of tastes.
553* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When she notices [[TheDreaded Hisoka]] is among the Hunter candidates, she is positively '''mortified''' by the level of killing intent barely held at bay inside him. Following this, she allows her fear of him to start dictating that ''nobody'' is allowed to get through the exams and she should play it off as her simply not liking anyone's dishes.
554* PickyEater: Only a few chefs can satisfy her.
555* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Buhara's Blue. She gets feisty, short-tempered, moody, and angry, while he is patient, gentle, approachable, and quiet.
556* ShipTease: There are hints of BelligerentSexualTension in her interactions with both Leorio and Hanzo in the 1999 version. Like in the source material Hanzo is the candidate she prospects to pass despite their bickering, but their final scene together shows her allowing him to ogle her in an AlcoholInducedIdiocy. Meanwhile, she and Leorio (along with Kurapika) are subjected to an AccidentalPervert gag in which [[RunningGag she never forgives him for]] since.
557* StatuesqueStunner: Diminished because she looks tiny compared to Buhara.
558* {{Stripperific}}: Her outfit is alarmingly skimpy and lacy. The gist of her outfit is lingerie atop... well, ''more'' lingerie.

625Wing is Zushi's master, who Gon and Killua encounter at the Heavens Arena. When asked about "Nen", he initially only teaches Gon and Killua the principles of Nen of the Flame - meditation. When Gon and Killua however reach the 200th floor and their path is blocked by Hisoka, he changes his mind and teaches them the true principles of Nen. Wing eventually turns out to be a secret Hunter examiner. After Gon and Killua complete their basic Nen training, he is briefly seen again and gives Gon advice over the phone to learn "Ko". He shows up again during the Chairman Election arc, voting for a new Chairman and visiting Gon in the hospital.\
626
627Wing is a Shingen-Ryu kung-fu master and an Enhancer. He was a disciple of Biscuit Krueger.
628----
629* BadLiar: He tries to dissuade Gon and Killua from learning Nen by explaining a different principle of Nen, but Killua, while thinking it was a solid explanation, immediately notices the holes in Wing's lies. It's only when Gon and Killua are in danger of dying that he steps in.
630* BadassTeacher: Wing eventually becomes Gon and Killua's first Nen instructor after two are stopped from registering on the 200th floor by Hisoka, who, similarly to Wing, doesn't want gifted people to end up crippled, as all participants on the 200th floor know Nen.
631* BunnyEarsLawyer: He's a perfectly competent Nen user, but Biscuit mocks him for always leaving his shirt tail half-tucked.
632* CharacterTic: Only ever half-tucks in of his shirt tail, despite constant reminders.
633* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: It's hinted at. He's a genuine goofball, but he knows and teaches the principles of Nen, capable of turning paper into blades just like [[HeroKiller Hisoka]], and an Enhancer. He's also a secret Hunter Examiner and the Assistant Master of Shingen-Ryu Kung Fu, meaning [[WorldsStrongestMan Netero]] thought he was capable enough to handle both jobs.
634* FantasticFightingStyle: Shingen-Ryu.

She becomes their trainer during the arc, helping to refine their nen and helping them in their search for Gon's father while seeking her own goal. She comes back into play during the Chimera Ant arc training them further.\
667
668Her Nen ability summons a masseuse to relieve fatigue and restore aura to anyone she massages. She can also transform into her true form, becoming much taller and muscular.
669-----
670* TheAce: Official databooks reveal that on the power chart list, she is only just slightly beneath the three Royal Guards, Meruem and Netero.
671* ActionFashionista: She has a very elegant and baby-doll like appearance and is always immaculately dressed. She's also a ''monster'' who can beat people into the ground.
672* AdaptationDyeJob: Strawberry blonde in the 1999 version, her hair in the 2011 remake is more or less "yellowish blonde".
673* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Is much more affectionate to Gon and Killua in the Greed Island [[OriginalVideoAnimation OVAs]] (notably telling the boys she loves them in the GrandFinale) than in the manga and 2011 versions.
674* AffectionateNickname: [[DoNotCallMeSir She doesn't like formal titles]] (it makes her sound old). People that are close to her are allowed to call her "Bisc" or "Bisky". If you want to add an [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseHonorifics honorific]] to her name, you can call her "-chama".
675* ApronMatron: She's very strict with her disciples, but her ambition is to make them stronger. As a result, she alternatively puts them through various wringers, cares for their welfare, leaves them alone and tells them to only call if necessary (and, she ''will'' make them pay if it wasn't all that important). She comments that if she were to follow their progress all the time, she would feel like their mother.
676* AttentionWhore: She will punch you if you ignore her.
677* BadassAdorable: Her child form. Note that she is a Double Star Hunter, and also the master of Wing, Gon and Killua.
678* BattleStrip: She removes her elegant gloves, dress, and shoes when she assumes her true form for the first time before Killua to give him a brutal training lesson as preparation for facing Shoot upon recognizing that he hadn't seen any combat against stronger foes, unlike Gon, who kept actively fighting Knuckle. However, the sight of a middle-aged muscular giant in just an undershirt and frilly pink child-size panties is not likely to be considered cute or {{Fanservice}} at all, just ''really'' disturbing.
679* BerserkButton:
680** Don't call her real form a gorilla or she will make you regret it.
681** Or make fun of her age. Killua has been on the receiving end of this on several occasions.
682** Also, don't ignore her/talk in front of her about a topic she doesn't fully understand.
683* BecomingTheMask: She becomes really attached to Gon and Killua.
684* BewareTheSillyOnes: It can be easy to forget that Bisky is a 2-star hunter and one of the most skilled characters in the series.
685* BitchInSheepsClothing: She joined Gon and Killua because she wanted to break their friendship and introduced herself in a sweet and girly persona.
686* BrawnHilda: Her true form. She hates it, so she spends most of her time looking like a little girl instead.
687* BreakoutCharacter: An incredibly well-liked character with fans, which is likely why she became a recurring character despite initially just seeming like an ArcHero for Greed Island. She even got to be a playable fighter in ''VideoGame/JumpForce''.
688* TheBusCameBack:
689** She decides to not accompany Gon and Killua after they finish Greed Island, but she quickly comes back to their help, when Palm calls her so she can prepare them for their eventual duel with Shoot and Knuckle to join Netero against the Chimera Ants.
690** Once her job is done, she leaves again, but she returns for the Election Arc to vote for a new chairman and to visit Gon.
691** And she again shows up when Kurapika hires trustworthy Hunters (she was recommended to Kurapika by Killua) to join him on the journey to the Dark Continent and keep an eye on the Kakin Empire's princes, so he can apprehend the Fourth Prince and retrieve the remaining Scarlet Eyes.
692* ChildLikeVoice: She prefers to present herself as a feminine little girl; in this form she speaks in a chipper, high-pitched, girlish voice.
693* ConsummateLiar: As is typical for a Transmuter. She has more than 50 years of experience, which makes her a very effective LivingLieDetector.
694* CurbStompBattle: To Binolt, and later to Bara. They all go down after [[OneHitKill one good attack from her.]]
695* CuteBruiser: When she's in her child-like form.
696* DirtyOldWoman: She becomes a drooling mess seeing a completely naked Hisoka and also likes looking at male porno magazines.
697* DumbBlonde: Inverted. Biscuit is a blonde but is a master strategist and Nen master.
698* EatingTheEyeCandy: She acts embarrassed, but she really enjoyed the view of a naked, bathing Hisoka.
699* ElegantGothicLolita: She dresses like a porcelain doll and is even a Jewel Hunter by trade.
700* EstablishingCharacterMoment: She remains mysteriously silent during her first appearance and is implied to refuse to join up with the people trying to steal cards in Greed Island. Then we see that she has quietly tailed Gon and Killua. She thinks to herself in a sweet tone of voice that their friendship is nice. ''Then'' [[TraitorShot her face twists into a conniving, witch-like grin]] and she gets a kick over how nice it would be... to ''ruin'' it. Her next moment has her observing them fighting monsters and quickly noticing how wasteful they're being with their natural talent, which quickly overrides her original plans, as she can't stand seeing "raw ore" left unpolished, and leads her to become their teacher, eventually subverting the first instance as she becomes genuinely fond of the duo and becomes a steadfast ally.
701%%* FantasticFightingStyle
702* GeniusBruiser: She is one of the most experienced Hunters and Nen users to appear; she uses her vast experience to outwit others and achieve her goals.
703* GirlishPigtails: Is initially introduced with this hairstyle, to complete the little girl image. After Binolt cuts off one pigtail, she switches to a high ponytail.
704* GirlyRun: She runs around in a dainty manner, yet she effortlessly keeps up with Gon and Killua, who are doing their best to get away from her.
705* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: While useless in combat, her masseuse, Cookie, turns out to be a good support ability, allowing Gon to get 8 hours of rest in only a half hour during another one of his TrainingFromHell sessions. Cookie transmutes Biscuit's aura into a lotion that can relieve fatigue and restores the vitality of the one she is massaging. Cookie can also be used to heal arthritis, burn off excess fat as well as heal locked joints and muscle tension. It's basically a perfect ability to recover.
706* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Biscuit initially wanted to tease Gon and Killua a bit (and then outright destroy their friendship because Killua pissed her off), but ended up changing her mind because she saw the great potential in both of them and really didn't want to let them get killed by malicious players, so she decides to postpone her plans to complete the game to train the both of them, later on clearing the game with Gon and Killua together. She also often shows AngerBornOfWorry towards her protégés.
707* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: She doesn't have any problems fighting and doing martial arts while wearing that dress. Subverted during the dodgeball match, she dodged Razor's ball but got a scratch on her enormous skirt that got her out of the field.
708* LadyOfWar: She is very strong and fights gracefully when in her child-like form. Not so much in her true form, in which she's enormous and fights quite brutally.
709* LarynxDissonance: In the original Ova, her true form's voice is more masculine than the remake's.
710* LittleMissBadass: Played with. She is introduced as a little girl with extreme nen potential, but is later revealed to be a muscle-bound fifty-seven-year-old woman. However, she prefers her child form because it's cute and allows her to be underestimated so she is seen like that most of the time. She kicks lots of ass while looking no older than Gon and Killua.
711* MegatonPunch: PlayedForLaughs when done to [[SitcomArchnemesis Killua]], PlayedForDrama when done in her true form in actual fights.
712* MoodSwinger: She's a Transmuter, and according to Hisoka, being whimsical and lying often is typical for one which is also the case for Biscuit. One moment she plays the innocent girl, while BeneathTheMask she is seething with anger. One moment she is pissed off as hell, then one moment later she wants to hug you and is in tears.
713* MundaneUtility: Her ability allows her to summon a masseuse, Cookie, who can do all kinds of different massaging techniques. It has more uses than that, of course, but the first time Cookie is shown, Killua calls it useless.
714* NoGuyWantsAnAmazon: Played straight and enforced. Biscuit is actually an incredibly buff and tall woman who grew to hate how husky and unfeminine she became. Eventually, her desires to look cute became so deep that they seeped into the will of her Nen and crafted themselves into her current ability; her body gradually shrank into a petite and adorable form as per her wishes, and she eventually learned how to control it. Her attitude, however, remained just as shrewish. A conversation in the Dark Continent Arc with a bodyguard reveals the origin of this power and implies that she essentially willed herself to look cute- and still actively does- when she reluctantly disables the transformation as proof of concept of Nen because he is a skeptical ideologue who is being a stubborn and distrusting nuisance. [[SubvertedTrope Ironically,]] [[AmazonChaser the guy is totally in love with her badass buff body.]]
715* ObfuscatingStupidity: In her child form, she acts the part to make people underestimate her. Once her opponent realizes what a monster she is, she drops the act.
716* OlderThanTheyLook: Even her true form doesn't look 57.
717* PhysicalFitnessPunishment: Gon or Killua had to do hundreds and thousands of push ups if they were slow at the Nen numbers training.
718* PinkMeansFeminine: She desires to look like a cute and feminine girl, so she wears a pink dress.
719* PintsizedPowerhouse: Her child form. Averted in her true form, which must be over two metres tall.
720* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives one to Killua about how he runs from fights when he thinks the opponent is too much for him to handle. [[spoiler:While technically true, it's later revealed his cowardice is due to a needle his elder brother, Illumi, secretly stuck into his forehead brainwashing him into that mindset. Her words did clue Killua in on this in the next arc however.]]
721* RedEyesTakeWarning: The first sign that she's not a normal human being, and that she's actually got wicked intentions, is reflected in those brilliant pools of red irides.
722* SinkOrSwimMentor: She was the one who trained Wing after all.
723* SleepModeSize: Her usual form is a small child because she doesn't like her true form.
724* TeamMom: During the Greed Island arc while mentoring Gon and Killua. Kind of interesting, considering that Gon is raised by his aunt and Killua got a very abusive mother.
725* TimeToUnlockMoreTruePotential: She wanted to train Gon and Killua because she was fascinated by their talent and found their potential wasted.
726* TreasureHunter: She is a Treasure Hunter.
727* VerbalTic: Ends most of her sentences with "~dawasa", which is a rather outdated type of Japanese dialect that hints that she is older than she seems.
728* WeaksauceWeakness: PlayedForLaughs. If you need to rein in Biscuit, just [[TheCharmer sweet-talk her]], i.e. compliment her girly looks and make her sound younger than she actually is. Killua figured that out, but felt it was too disgusting to use this to his advantage. He tells Kurapika to do it to make Biscuit eat out of his hand, and it works.

736
737A Single Star Jackpot Hunter, who was hired by Battera to complete Greed Island and recruit new players to complete it. He, along with three other fellow Hunters in his team, team up with Gon's team, Hisoka and Goreinu to retrieve one of the final cards Genthru is missing. He agrees to buy time for Gon, Killua and Biscuit to come up with a plan to beat Genthru, and as thanks for their efforts, shares a part of the money reward Battera left, and leaves the rest of his cards to them, so they can complete the game.\
738
739Tsezguerra appears once more during the Election arc, voting for a new chairman and visiting Gon in the hospital.
740----
741* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Sadly, Gon and Killua mastered their aura better than him later.
742* BreakTheHaughty: When Gon and Killua broke his jump record. During the Dodgeball game, he also realizes that while his Nen control and battle experience still far surpasses them, they beat him in agility and reflexes and that he needs to train again.
743* BrutalHonesty: Tsezguerra isn't the kind of person who minces words. This can make him sound like a jerk ([[JerkassHasAPoint although he is usually right]]), but if he praises someone, he really means it.
744** When he assesses Gon and Killua's strength, he tells them that at their current state, they are no good and would die quickly. Even after Gon and Killua pass Tsezguerra's test, Biscuit told them the same thing Tsezguerra did. Only after training for months with a top class Hunter and Nen teacher did they gain a level where they could survive most of the players.
745** He knows that he's gotten weak over the years, especially after he saw how agile and hardworking Gon and Killua are.
746** During the dodgeball game, he makes it clear how injured Killua is and urges him to give up to not make it worse.
747** When Gon challenges Genthru (despite everyone being exhausted and heavily injured), he calls Gon out for acting selfishly and rashly without thinking about the consequences.
748* CharacterDevelopment: He became a better person after his encounter with Gon and Killua.
749* GeniusBruiser: As a single star hunter, he has to be excellent in fighting (although he admits he has gotten weak and needs to train more). It was his superior aura control that allowed him to survive a dodgeball hit, despite being too slow to dodge it. He also quickly understood how injured Killua was by holding the ball for Gon's shots at Razor, unlike his colleagues. When he plans to fight Genthru, he develops a plan that [[CombatPragmatist keeps the Bombers busy for weeks,]] (even ambushing them during their sleep) so Gon, Killua and Biscuit could come up with a plan to beat them, if he can't do it. His ambush on Genthru would have worked, too, if Battera hadn't pulled out all guards after giving up on Greed Island.
750* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Initially a {{Jerkass}}, he becomes one thanks to his CharacterDevelopment. He develops a fondness to Gon and Killua and during the Election arc, he even visits Gon in the hospital.
751* TheLeader: He leads his own team of Hunters to complete the game, and when he, Goreinu and Gon's team work together to get a card from Razor and later defeat Genthru and the Bomb Devils, he is the one who stays levelheaded and develops the plans.
752* OnlyInItForTheMoney: He is more humble now, but he is still a Jackpot Hunter, who are the personification of this trope.
753* PetTheDog: Tsezguerra leaves a substantial amount of the reward money he got from Battera to Killua, Gon and Biscuit, as thanks for their efforts. Since Battera didn't need the cards anymore, he leaves them his cards as well, so they can complete the game.
754* StealthMentor: His BrutalHonesty when Gon and Killua meet him can be interpreted in several ways. First of all, he [[CruelToBeKind blatantly told them they would die]], or worse, be stuck on Greed Island at their current level. When Battera asks for Tsezguerra's ''actual'' opinion of the two boys, he makes it clear that he wasn't lying, but he also mentions that Gon and Killua have great potential and could change his mind in the four days they have left before the tryouts. Tsezguerra's words actually riled up Gon and Killua and made them rapidly make progress. The speed of their progress convinced him that they are good enough.
755* TeamDad: Of the GI arc.
756* WeakButSkilled: Tsezguerra was, due to overall combat experience, still better than Gon and Killua when it comes to combat and aura efficiency during the Greed Island arc, but his dexterity and reflexes dulled over the years, leaving him more vulnerable to Razor's throws during the dodgeball game.
757* TheWorfEffect: He's genuinely pretty competent and strong to boot, but didn't really stand a chance against Razor and his dodgeball {{Mook}}s.

767
768Goreinu is a Manipulator, who can emit two Nen beasts. These Nen beasts can trade places with either himself or with anyone else.
769----
770* AnimalMotifs: Gorilla. He is able to create two gorillas (one black and one white), and vaguely resembles them.

791* GracefulLoser: After losing to Biscuit, he does whatever she tells him to do, like giving away his cards and defending himself against Killua and Gon. After he loses to ''them'', and is spared by Gon, he vows to leave the island and turn himself in.
792* IJustWantToBeNormal: When he thinks back of his past, and is fighting for his life against Gon and Killua, he thinks to himself that he never wanted to become the man he's now, and just wanted to live a normal life and be returned with kindness.

860
861Morel is a Single Star Sea Hunter and one of the top operatives in the Chimera Ant Extermination Squad, acting, along with Knov, as support under Netero. While Netero is gone to seek a friend for help, he and Knov take charge of the operation and infiltrate and assault East Gorteau to stop the Chimera Ants' selection process and follow Netero's orders to split the Royal Guards from the King. After he defeats Cheetu and kills Leol, the squad assaults the King's palace and Morel confronts Shaiapouf first and later Menthuthuyoupi with Knuckle and Meleoron. Before he is killed though, Youpi spares his life, and he is brought to safety by Knov. In the Election arc, he sends support to Killua and helps in arranging Alluka's transport, so she can heal Gon.\
862
863Morel is a Manipulator and can, with the help of a giant pipe, transmute and manipulate tobacco smoke that can form into any shape he wishes. Morel can also create Smoke Troopers who can act as decoys or spies for Morel. They can work effectively as complex soldiers with automated commands if Morel puts a part of his aura into their core, also making them indistiguishable to humans when using En.

871* HeroicBuild: A huge build for a heroic Hunter.
872* HumbleHero: Has no interest in becoming chairman and dismisses his own fighting abilities, even after helping end the Chimera Ant menace.
873* ImprobableWeaponUser: Morel fights with a giant smoking pipe.
874* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: To Gon as well as to Colt and the Queen's second child.
875** When Colt found the Chimera Ant Queen's last baby in her body, he vows to protect and raise it, as amends for not protecting his sister (in his previous life) and the Queen. Morel threatened him before [[DeclarationOfProtection swearing to protect them]] if Colt swears that he and his ward would never eat humans with [[ManlyTears tears in his eyes.]]
876** As noted by Knov, Morel already accepted Gon as a member of the Extermination Squad, but still wanted to test his resolve and strength, by asking Gon to hit him with his strongest attack. After Gon scared Morel to death with his Jajanken and apologized for almost trying to kill him, he laughs it off and treats Gon like every other squad member.
877* ManlyTears: Sheds quite a few tears after Colt's DeclarationOfProtection to the Queen's last child as well as his promise not to eat anymore humans.
878* ThePowerOfTrust: As he puts it, few rules exist on the battlefield and one of those few is if a trusted ally tells you to follow his lead and not ask questions, then you shut up and follow his lead in silence.
879* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives one to Killua after he knocks out Gon and runs away with him when Pitou first appears telling him that he doesn't deserve to be called a Hunter if he's going to run from every tough fight before it starts.
880* ShoutOut: His ability to create Nen soldiers out of smoke is called [[Music/DeepPurple Deep Purple]]. His fight with Leol could also be described as [[Main/IncrediblyLamePun smoke on the water.]]
881* SmokeOut: One of his abilities, used to considerable tactical effect.
882* SpellMyNameWithAnS: His name was initially romanized as Morau, but officially it's Morel. Mackernasey can also be romanized as [=McCarnathy=].
883* SuperNotDrowningSkills: He can hold his breath for hours.
884* SuperSmoke: Morel's abilities revolve around smoke.

894
895Knov is Palm's master and a top operative in the extermination squad, working directly under Netero as support along with Morel. His nen ability is to create portals into another dimension of his own creation. To someone who's unaware of his powers, he would appear to teleport. He uses this power to get into restricted, heavily guarded, or unknown areas and obtain information about the ants. He also allows others to use his dimension as a hideout or to allow people to brief others on what to do. After infiltrating the palace in order to set up his portals he witnesses many horrifying things that leave him a broken mess making him unable to participate in the actual Invasion itself.
896-----
897* BaldHeadOfToughness: Inverted as Knov goes PrematurelyBald after coming into contact with Shaiapouf's malevolent En. The immense fear being around the Chimera Ant Royal Guards turned Knov's jet black hair completely white as he [[HeroicBSOD broke down]], realizing he would likely die should he have to face any of them 1-on-1. Knov forces himself to complete his infiltration job for the mission, but is in such bad shape mentally by the end that the stress caused him to lose every hair on his head.
898* BreakTheHaughty: In his first appearance, he acts smugly condescending to Killua for running away from Pitou. Just sensing Pitou's nen aura causes him to have a breakdown.
899* CoolKey: His master key, which allows him to enter and exit any room he creates in his PocketDimension.
900* HeroicBSOD: Suffers one after his recon mission after catching a glimpse of Shaiapouf's aura and freaking out.
901* LockedIntoStrangeness: His hair eventually turns completely white and then falls out completely due to stress from his recon mission.
902* NonActionGuy: Seems to be this way since Knov is used mostly for reconnaissance and to create portals into the King's palace. However it is shown that, with his ability Scream, he can use his powers offensively; they're just not as valuable to the mission as the ability to get everyone into strategically sound places.
903* PocketDimension: His ability creates this, giving him massive storage space, among other things.
904* PortalCut: His offensive ability Scream. Since it's never explored, we never find out whether or not it could have been a StoryBreakerPower.
905* PortalDoor: He creates them with his ability.
906* PrematurelyBald: He loses all of his hair out of stress and fear after encountering Shaiapouf's En.
907* SharpDressedMan: He always wears a suit.
908* StoicSpectacles: Played straight and then subverted. He's initially the calm cool collected type and TheStrategist due to his recon focused nen ability and the glasses helped to reinforce that image. However he's shown to be NotSoStoic after encountering Shaiapouf ''indirectly'' puts the fear of God in him.
909* ThinkingUpPortals: His nen ability is the creation of portals that lead to a PocketDimension in which he can create a near infinite amount of rooms to hold things ranging from tools to people. He uses this ability to get the infiltration team to get as close to the Chimera Ant palace without being detected by Pitou's vast En.
910* ThoseTwoGuys: With Morel.
911* WeaponizedTeleportation: Downplayed. While Knov can do that with his portals, he prefers to send the Chimera Ants in his PocketDimension not to fight them himself, but to send them to [[OldMaster Netero]] who's waiting inside to pummel them. While he doesn't do that, he uses the portals to hide quickly, for infiltration, and for a long-time prepared surprise attack.

920One of Morel's trainees. He normally looks and acts like a street thug and is laughably incompetent at all things except fighting. However, Knuckle is easily a match for Gon, and when the chips are down, can strategize as well as anyone else. Knuckle started out as Gon's sparring partner and seems to get stronger at roughly the same rate as Gon. Knuckle directly accompanies Gon and Killua, along with his partner Shoot, taking out Chimera Ants. Knuckle places an interest scheme on Cheetu, which freaks Cheetu out causes him to retreat. Knuckle is the main opponent against Menthuthuyoupi. He turns invisible with Meleoron's help and punches Youpi, starting the interest. Knuckle then attempts to wear him out, and it almost works if not for Youpi's attempt at killing a weakened Morel, which causes Knuckle to lose control of the fairy.\
921
922His nen ability is themed on bank interest: he attacks his target, lending him or her some of his strength. At the same time, a fairy appears next to the target and displays a number on its forehead. Every 10 seconds, the fairy will say that the target has accrued interest and increases the number. Once the number reaches or exceeds the limit for that individual (different between people), he or she is temporarily unable to use nen.
923-----
924* AllDevouringBlackHoleLoanSharks: The theme of his Nen ability (see below), although he's not actually a moneylender.
925* AllLovingHero: One of Knuckle's first scenes is him going out of his way to take care of a puppy that was following him around town. When multiple dogs begin hanging around him he finds them all bowls so they can eat. Knuckle is such a nice guy he's the only one on the Invasion Squad who wants to find an alternative to killing the Chimera Ants.

932* DelinquentHair: A pompodour that gives him a delinquent look.
933* EmotionalBruiser: The very physical Knuckle goes into each fight wearing his heart on his sleeve. The palace raid is hard on him as he has to sit back and watch his comrades wear themselves out.
934%%* FightingSpirit: Potclean.
935* FireForgedFriends: With Shoot.
936* FriendToAllLivingThings: He's noted to get easily attached to animals, especially dogs.
937* FunWithAcronyms: In the English version, the loan-shark fairies generated by his nen are called Amortizing Power Redirector and Individual Ren Suppressor -- in other terms, [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annual_percentage_rate A.P.R.]] and [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_Revenue_Service I.R.S.]]
938* GeniusBruiser: He's physically strong and is an expert tactician.
939* GoingToGiveItMoreEnergy: His Nen ability lends the target power at a high rate of interest (that activates every ten seconds, too!) and gives them more every subsequent time he hits. The catch? If the nen exceeds his target's limit, [[PowerNullifier they can't use nen for a month.]]
940* GoodWithNumbers: It's mentioned that Knuckle mentally keeps track of the interest accrued by APR to estimate how much longer a fight will go on.
941* HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler:Despite his ability being the only possible chance the Invasion Squad has to neutralise Youpi's Nen he deactivates APR when Youpi threatens to kill a downed Morel. 942* HotBlooded: He could compete with Leorio.
943* JapaneseDelinquents: His whole gimmick, in keeping with his past of previously being a delinquent. He wears the loose-fitting white jacket and pants of a typical delinquent, [[DelinquentHair a thick pompadour]], and lots of tough-talking and physicality.
944* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's hot-headed and loud but has a heroic and kind heart.

946* LightningBruiser: Knuckle is both exceptionally fast and strong.
947%%* ManlyTears
948* NoSell: If anyone under the effect of his Nen ability attacks him and the damage is less than that of the total built up in interest, the attack does no damage to him and interest is instead taken off the counter.
949* OhCrap: When he realized Gon was going to [[MegatonPunch punch]] him in the back.
950* PetTheDog: Literally. One of the signs that the loud and tough-talking Knuckle is actually a nice guy is that he feeds stray dogs around the area and later accrues a pack of them.
951* PlotPoweredStamina: Lampshaded, as he mentions and actually shows that he is capable of running at full speed without fatigue indefinitely. He also can start running at full speed almost immediately. Though this is a somewhat mundane-sounding ability, it's shown that it is one of his greatest fighting assets.

957* SmarterThanYouLook: From his appearance and personality you wouldn't know it, but this Nen ability requires him to make extremely fast mathematical calculations in his head.
958* StealthMentor: During his fights with Gon he actually notes several flaws in Gon's Jajanken as well as his overall battle strategy. Gon realises that this is Knuckles own way of trying to help him improve without outright saying it.
959* VitriolicBestBuds: With Shoot.
960* WalkingShirtlessScene: Specifically when training with Gon and Killua, Knuckle takes off his shirt.

970
971His nen ability is a small floating cage and a bunch of floating hands. The hands are capable of powerful direct melee combat, but they can also warp a body part into the cage upon contact. Shoot neutralized Kite under Neferpitou's control in this way, by continuing to warp body parts until all of Kite was in that cage.

1004One of Knuckles's partners and a trainee of Knov's. She first appears as a knife-crazy psychotic woman whom Gon and Killua constantly run from. However, she regains her composure, both behaviorally and appearance-wise, for Gon's date with her, which quickly goes awry. She went undercover as one of Bizef's prostitutes and sent to an underground facility, but escapes and attempts to spy on the King. Ikalgo follows her there but is slowed down considerably by Bloster, who coincidentally happened to be there. She winds up captured but not killed, rather turned into a chimera ant-hybrid. She awakens with some new abilities such as being able to detect where a person is with the newly made orb on her forehead able to turn her hair in armor and weapons. Pufu tries to manipulate her into killing Killua, but his words allow her to come to her senses and break free from Pufu's control. She is currently helping the others.
1005-----
1006* ActionGirl: After her reincarnation.
1007* AxCrazy: This woman suffers BIG problems if she is denied any chance to enact her inner desires. She goes completely stir-crazy due and taken over with progressive BloodLust. The worse she gets, the more her appearance starts to go to seed, as her Nen becomes foul and dark and starts to warp and twist her looks. Her skin turns pale, it makes her eyes turn from blue to red, her auburn hair dirties into a blackened, scraggly mess, and she neglects to wear shoes, until finally she almost completely resembles the girl sealed in the well in ''Film/TheRing''.
1008** Subverted after her reincarnation as she acts far more stable.
1009* BackFromTheDead: Pitou and Pouf revive her as a Chimera Ant.
1010* BarefootLoon: In her more unhinged moments, she forgets to wear her sandals. It's a good sign she's really starting to lose it.
1011* BrainwashedAndCrazy: After her death she is used as an experiment subject by Pitou and Pouf to become an ant soldier. She breaks out of it.
1012* CameBackStrong: After her resurrection, she became strong enough to compete with Killua, along with an upgraded version of her Merman Clairvoyance ability, Wink Blue.
1013* CannotSpitItOut: To Knov.
1014* CharacterDevelopment: Went from being an AxCrazy {{Yandere}} that ended up putting the lives of Gon and Killua in danger to a much more mentally stable person and useful ally to both of them, especially towards the latter where he acknowledges her as a friend.

1018* CuteMonsterGirl: She is attractive even after becoming a Chimera Ant.
1019* DrivenToSuicide: She attempted suicide when the Royal Guards detect her in the palace, but Pitou healed her and they used her in an experiment.
1020* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: A pale, thin woman with long black hair to fit her AxCrazy attitude, almost to the point of resembling a StringyHairedGhostGirl. After being turned into a hybrid, her skin is notably more ashen.
1021* EmotionSuppression: The Royal Guards had separated her emotions from her body, but she recovered herself thanks to Killua.
1022* {{Expy}}: Of [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure Yukako Yamagishi]]. Both are crazy yanderes who love a tiny guy. Later, Palm even develops PrehensileHair powers like Yukako has.

1031* PrehensileHair: After she CameBackStrong, she became capable of growing her long hair even longer and using it as armor with her Black Widow ability.
1032* PsychoKnifeNut: A nigh-psychotic woman who likes to brandish a knife around.
1033* RapeAsDrama: Invoked. She planned to stage her HeroicSuicide as that of a troubled young woman who couldn't take [[DirtyOldMan Bizeff]]'s treatment of her. Pouf and Pitou had other ideas.
1034* SheCleansUpNicely: When Palm's personality stabilizes, she behaves normally and dresses attractively instead of skulking around as a frumpy lunatic. Seriously- she becomes someone you wouldn't even recognize in a crowd until she speaks and gives her name. Simply being given the chance to go on a date with Gon clears the sawdust out of her troubled head and she arrives looking very cute and a stark contrast to the Palm seen thus far- so much so that the change is ''[[OutOfCharacterAlert eerie.]]''
1035* SphereEyes: After becoming a Chimera Ant.
1036* StalkerWithACrush: To Knov.
1037* StringyHairedGhostGirl: She, on most occasions, sports this appearance because of scruffy long black hair and too much make-up, not to mention a frightening aura caused by stress. However, she is shown to be BeautifulAllAlong when she gets rid of the look, takes a shower, and combs her hair to go on a date with Gon.
1038* SuperpowerLottery: With her new powers, her clairvoyance ability has been strengthened and she is able to attack at maximum power and still have a great defense with her hair armor. Considering she is an Enhancer, that combination is deadly.
1039%%* SupremeChef
1040* TookALevelInBadass: Following her resurrection of sorts, Palm is far more emotionally stable and a more competent fighter, capable of taking on Killua. Not to mention how she takes over the control of the operations in the last minutes of the invasion when Killua leaves the area and faces the King alone.
1041* TranshumanTreachery: Downplayed. After being transformed into a Chimera Ant hybrid she fall completely under Pouf’s control, but breaks free thanks to Killua. Even after coming to her senses, she still struggles to resist serving the King.

But when Killua snaps her out of her brainwashing as a Chimera Ant, she not only sincerely thanks Killua for saving her, but also shamelessly states that while she'd do anything to help Gon, it's ''Killua'' who he needs the most right now.
