[[folder:Real World Children]]
!! As a whole
* BirdsOfAFeather: All of the children are fans of ''VideoGame/ChronoCross''.
* BrainsAndBrawn: Brains to the game character partners.
%%zce* {{Expy}}: To the Tamers.
* FighterMageThief: Ari is Fighter. Yoshino is Thief. Chikara is Mage.
* FreudianTrio: Ari is [[TheKirk Ego]]. Yoshino is [[TheMcCoy Id]]. Chikara is [[TheSpock Superego]].
* KnightKnaveAndSquire: Chikara is Knight. Yoshino is Knave. Ari is Squire.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: Ari is Nice. Yoshino is Mean. Chikara is In-between.

!! Ari Yamamoto

-> Debut: Chapter 1

An eleven-year-old boy who is a Draggy fanboy. Because being an only child in the family, he sometimes wishes for a sibling-like figure or a pet so that he won't be alone. And his wish comes true after receiving the gadget.

* AllLovingHero
** Guile greets Draggy in a not-so-friendly way at first, but later, Ari tries to stop Yoshino from forcing Guile to fight again because Guile is injured, and eventually saves him from the evolved Starky.
** Yoshino is a JerkAss, but he can't stand seeing her crying.
%%zce* {{Expy}}: To Matsuda Takato.
* FaceYourFears: Multiple times, and are caused by his SimpleMindedWisdom.
* HatesBeingAlone: Justified. He's an only child in the family, and this is the reason why he really wants a sibling-like figure or a pet. He is very protective towards Draggy because he's afraid of losing the dragon, which will result in him being alone.
* HeroicBSOD: After seeing Guile taking a chainsaw that is meant for Draggy.
%%* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Type B.
%%zce* IncorruptiblePurePureness
* IWishItWereReal: He wishes that Draggy is real, and it really happens.
%%zce* LovableCoward
* MommasBoy: He is very close to his mom. Also, the reason why he doesn't want Draggy to evolve is because of his mom's words.
* NervousWreck: He gets worried very easily.
* NiceGuy: He is very kind.
* NonActionGuy: He's easily scared and also pessimistic by nature.
* NotAMorningPerson: The reason he's often late to school in the morning.
* SimpleMindedWisdom: Something you often see from him.
** Why he doesn't want Draggy to evolve? He believes that when one grows up, he/she will forget the one who brought him/her up. He learns a similar thing from his mom's words.
** What makes him suspect that Draggy is involved in the butcher incident? He believes that ''dragon loves meat.''
* TenderTears: He is prone to shedding them, even as a boy.

!! Yoshino Kobayashi

-> Debut: Chapter 1 (Dream Sequence), Chapter 2

A thirteen-year-old girl whose ambition is to be the best player in Battle Board. She actually likes powerful characters like Glenn and intends to buy the board, but because she keeps suspecting her deceased father being a Guile fan, she ends up with Guile. Learning that this disables her from summoning a more powerful character, she is so annoyed that [[KickTheDog she mistreats Guile]].

%%zce* ActionGirl
* ArrogantKungFuGirl: What is she thinking when people around her talk about her feat in 2020 Battle Board Tournament?
-->You cannot and may not be like me, you moron!
* TheAtoner: Chapter 12 onwards. She struggles very hard just to show Guile that she is no longer a cruel person.
%%* BadassNormal
* BerserkButton: Develops one in chapter 13 from her guilt. Don't remind her of how mean she has been towards Guile.
** This leads to her giving Ari a NeckLift until Guile intervenes by shooting a tiny lightning bolt to separate them.
* DaddysGirl: Justified, because her dad loves her very much.
** This is the reason why she can't really abandon Guile.
** Hachiro points out that she and her dad are often seen strolling at Shinjuku Park together.
* DeadpanSnarker
* {{Determinator}}: Don't expect her to give up, even if she's losing.
** After her VillainousBSOD, she knows that Guile won't forgive her for her outrageously cruel acts towards him, but she is willing to give it a try.
** When she throws a stone at Genie, she misses. Is she giving up? Nope. She looks around to find more stones to throw at Genie just to defend Guile as an act of her atonement.
* DisappearedDad: Deceased.
* EasilyForgiven: Guile gladly forgives her when she apologizes to him.
** However, other characters don't really forgive her.
* EntitledBitch: Overlaps with UngratefulBitch. Despite being an utter jerk to Guile, she still expects Guile to fight for her so that she can learn new tricks for the board game. This annoys her grandma as well.
** She eventually grows out of this.
* FreudianExcuse: The reason she KickTheDog is solely for lashing out her anger towards Guile for preventing her from summoning a powerful character from the game.
** Her grandma scolds and slaps her for this.
* HeelFaceTurn: Yoshino isn't purely evil, but she is so selfish and childish that her acts are despicable. She appears to have changed by the time chapter 12 comes calling.
** HeelRealization: The first time is when her grandma reveals that her deceased dad has a PS console, which leads to her thinking that her dad is a Guile FanBoy. Then she tries to apologize to Guile, but unfortunately, she finds him at the wrong time (unconscious after getting beaten up by Skelly). The second time is when she finds a Guile {{Fanart}} by her dad, which leads to the third time: her grandma points out that Yoshino only wants to apologize to Guile just because of her dad's FanBoy influence; otherwise, she won't.
*** After realizing this, Yoshino truly regrets her acts towards Guile and goes really far just to show Guile that she feels terrible and really wants to repent.
* GamerChick: She is very skilled in the board game version of Chrono Cross.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She isn't as bad as she seems. In chapter 12, she risks her life just to show her desire to change to Guile.
* KickTheDog
** The way she treats Guile is very mean. When she admits it to her grandma, well, her grandma literally ''flips''.
*** She scolds Guile and calls him a wimp whenever he almost loses a fight.
*** She neglects Guile and never lets him eat real food. The only edible thing she gives him is leftovers, and that is a rare occasion. Guile escapes from starvation because he fights often and absorbs data, which is enough to keep him alive.
*** She sometimes wakes Guile up from his sleep by throwing a pail of cold water at him.
*** She forces Guile to fight even though he is injured.
** Yoshino finally apologizes to Guile for this behavior and tries very hard to repent. She grows out of it as well.
* LickedByTheDog: After saving Guile's life and risking hers, Guile doesn't only forgive her easily, but he also fights for her sake.
%%* LittleMissBadass
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Her suspicion of her dad being a Guile fan grows in chapter 6 after knowing that her dad has a PS console. She regrets her harsh attitude towards Guile, and [[ItsAllMyFault blames herself]] for [[WasTooHardOnHim being too mean]] to him in the past after finding his bruised and battered body. She experiences the FiveStagesOfGrief at this moment.
** The one after her HeelRealization is even more dramatic.
* PetTheDog: She sometimes gives Guile leftovers to eat. Subverted when it's revealed that she does this just because of her dad.
** Finally shows a genuine care towards Guile after her HeelRealization.
* TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity: She promises Guile to help him to be more powerful, and in return, Guile will fight for her so that she can learn new tricks for the board game. Unfortunately, she doesn't mind about Guile, and only cares for the reward. She eventually grows out of this, though.
* TearsOfRemorse: Starts shedding them since chapter 6. Sheds them again in chapter 12.
* {{Tsundere}}: Type A.
* VillainousBSOD: Goes to this in chapter 10. First, after finding out her father's book that contains his wish of having Guile appearing in the real world. Second, after her grandma points out that she'll still mistreat Guile if not because of her dad.

!! Chikara Jikan

-> Debut: Chapter 3

An eleven-year-old boy who comes from the famous 6A class of Shinjuku Elementary. When Battle Board is getting trendy, he hopes that his dad buys him a Serge board because Serge is a powerful character. Unfortunately, because of his dad's strict nature of educating him, Chikara ends up with Starky.

* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Always expect him to solve problems with this, although his ideas [[UnspokenPlanGuarantee don't always work.]]
* BadLiar: He's smart, but is unable to trick his little sister.
* BerserkButton: Downplayed. Chikara has a few, though pressing them usually only result in him getting annoyed or slightly angry.
** He isn't happy if you speak ill of his little sister, even it's a fact that she's really an AnnoyingYoungerSibling.
** He CantTakeCriticism.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Towards Ari and other younger figures.
* BigBrotherMentor: To Ari.
* CantTakeCriticism: His main flaw. He will brush off one's opinion and insist that he is right.
* ChildProdigy
* ControlFreak
%%zce* CoolBigBro
%%zce* {{Expy}}: To Li Jenrya.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Except that he's nicer than his father.
* NiceGuy: Not as nice as Ari, but is still quite kind.
* OddFriendship: With Starky.
* ThePerfectionist: Everything he does must be ''flawless''.
* TheSmartGuy
* TheStrategist: To Starky. His strategies give Starky advantage in combats.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears
** Unlike the other kids, he's more mature and level-headed. While Ari goes so far to the point he slaps and snaps at Yoshino for abusing Guile (which almost results in a fight until Guile intervenes), Chikara's reaction is just telling Yoshino to atone for her acts instead of just ranting and blaming herself. It's worth noting that he's two years ''younger'' than Yoshino.
** He CantTakeCriticism though.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Game Characters (The Partners)]]
!! As a whole
* BrainsAndBrawn: Brawn to the real world children.
%%zce* {{Expy}}: To the {{Mons}} partners of Digimon Tamers.
* FighterMageThief: Draggy is Fighter. Guile is Thief, especially when he's mad. Starky is Mage.
* FreudianTrio: Draggy is [[TheKirk Ego]]. Guile is [[TheSpock Superego]]. Starky is [[TheMcCoy Id]].
* KnightKnaveAndSquire: Guile is Knight. Starky is Knave. Draggy is Squire.

!! Draggy
[[quoteright:128:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Draggy_2346.png]]

-> Debut: Chapter 1 (mentioned), Chapter 2

A yellow dragon who is about the size of a human child due to Ari's fan art of him.

* AllAnimalsAreDogs: He acts more like a puppy than a dragon.
* BadassAdorable
* BigBrotherInstinct: Comes to learn this after staying with Guile for a while.
* BigEater: He's always hungry.
* BreathWeapon: He shoots fireballs from his mouth.
* BodyguardingABadass: Ends up becoming this to Guile, because the latter has been very kind to him.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: A nonhuman example.
* ConstantlyCurious: He's new to the real world, and is a newborn. Whenever he comes across new things, he asks.
%%zce* CoolBigBro: To Pip.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He is goofy, but his combat skill is nothing to laugh at, especially after evolving.
* CuteLittleFangs: See [[http://gmustang94.deviantart.com/art/Chrono-Cross-Fellowship-Draggy-461448474 here]].
* TheDitz: His defining characteristic, but is capable of subverting this trope once in a while.
* DumbIsGood: He may not be able to differ what is good or wrong, but this becomes the reason why Guile really believes that he won't blame Ari for scolding and hitting him as a result of Skelly's acts.
* DumbMuscle: Quite powerful, and he's often seen 'solving' a problem using brawn. Often PlayedForLaughs.
* ExpressiveEars: His wing-like extensions on his head stand when he's happy, and they wilt when he's sad.
%%zce* {{Expy}}: To Guilmon.
* {{Fireballs}}
%%* FierySalamander
%%* {{Flight}}: He has wings.
%%* GentleGiant: After evolving.
* HatesBeingAlone: He'll be sad and/or search for his friends when he's alone.
* HeroicBSOD: After seeing Guile taking a chainsaw that is meant for him.
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Subverted. Skelly manages to trick him into stealing from a butcher.
%%* KindheartedSimpleton
%%* TheKlutz: Sometimes.
%%* LiteralMinded: PlayedForLaughs.
* ManBitesMan: Dragon bites...its enemies. Draggy fights this way when he isn't breathing fire.
%%* MightyGlacier: After evolving. He is often too slow to dodge attacks, but his scales are capable of protecting him from most attacks.
%%* NaiveNewcomer: And causes a lot of troubles.
%%* NiceGuy
* NowThatsUsingYourTeeth: He catches Guile's rod with his teeth.
%%* OurDragonsAreDifferent
%%* PlayingWithFire
%%* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: His personality renders him this.
%%* SignatureMove: Cough Drop.
%%** Big Breath (evolved form): Draggy inhales deeply before breathing out a huge gush of flame.
* SimpleMindedWisdom: Capable of doing this and is often PlayedForLaughs.
* SuperToughness: His scales provide him great defense.
** Temperature change barely affects him.
** Skelly's WeaponizedBall only leaves some bruises on him.
** Starky's {{BFG}} hitting the snout? No effect.
* UnskilledButStrong: Despite being a newborn, he rivals other experienced being in terms of strength. He has no specific strategy in fighting other than relying on his strength and endurance.
* VerbalTic: ThirdPersonPerson.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Water. He can't create fire when he's wet.

!! Guile
[[quoteright:128:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Guile_2864.png]]

-> Debut: Chapter 1 (Dream Sequence), Chapter 2 (Dream Sequence and mentioned), Chapter 3

A masked magician who wishes to be more powerful so that he can resolve his rivalry issue. [[spoiler: In actuality, it is just a lie, because he thinks that his true wish sounds silly for a JerkAss like Yoshino, and even the NiceGuy Ari because he is afraid that Ari will go to extreme lengths to help him. All he wants in his life is just a family.]]

* AllLovingHero: Knowing that Genie is supposed to be on the good side, he tries to persuade Genie to return to the good side. Genie refuses, but Guile holds back in the fight. Genie threatening to kill the children after killing Guile manages to anger Guile, which results in Guile gaining an upper hand. And when Genie is about to harm Draggy with a chainsaw, Guile completely loses patience.
* AttackAttackAttack: Knowing no defensive spells/skills, Guile relies on his inborn stamina and sheer determination for his defense. This enables him to attack whenever he wants without having to waste time for defense.
* AwesomeButImpractical / NecessaryDrawback: Lightning Blast is powerful, but it takes a long time to cast it. Guile is often interrupted when charging up for this move.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis
* BadassArmfold
* BadassBoast: "Even though my body is on the verge of collapsing… I WILL NEVER GIVE UP IN MY HEART!"
* BadassFingerSnap: He can create lightning by snapping his fingers.
* BadassLongcoat: A variant of dusters. He takes it off when he's getting serious. Cue ShirtlessScene.
* BadLiar: Despite his name, he is this. He can't get through the children with his lie about why he cries. He attempts a classic SandInMyEyes, which he does awkwardly.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Justified. As he DesperatelyCravesAffection, his kindness to you will often be up to eleven if you're nice to him.
** AFriendInNeed
** HonorBeforeReason: His FatalFlaw. At one side, it's good, but on the other hand, it leads to problems. Luccia regards this as an odd yet honorable act.
* BeingGoodSucks / NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Because he is unwilling to injure innocent children like Draggy and Starky, Yoshino gets mad and calls him a wimp. In actuality, he truly hopes that Yoshino cares for him, but for the said reason, he has to leave Yoshino because the girl declares that she doesn't care about him anymore (though her memories of her deceased dad often haunts her). She also gives him a loud "Go away!". Ouch.
** It's even worse in his past. Because Viper had saved him many times when he was young, he refused to fight Riddel in the finals of El Nido Wizard Tournament because he was afraid that he might harm Riddel. This resulted in his poor performance and loss, which eventually led to [[spoiler: his mother performing a self-destruct in front of him out of pure rage because of Guile's 'stupid' kindness]] and continued with him [[GoMadFromTheRevelation going mad]].
* TheBerserker: He becomes reckless and only aims for the kill when enraged. His lack of tactics when angered is his AchillesHeel which leads to TheWorfEffect.
* BerserkButton: [[SchmuckBait Just try hurting and/or threatening his little friends in front of him.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: [[UnstoppableRage And Guile won't hesitate to annihilate you.]]
* BewareTheQuietOnes: Ari first views him as this, but Guile is actually a bit chatty, although he isn't the one who starts a conversation most of the time.
* BirdPeople: His evolved form is a black eagle man.
* BlackMage
** AnIcePerson: He only uses ice spells once. He is capable of conjuring an icicle, [[spoiler: which he uses to cut his own ankle to get some blood to feed Draggy]].
** CastingAShadow: Most of his spells are enchanted with darkness.
*** Annihilation Wave involves firing dark energy blast which vaporizes the enemy in a hit.
** DishingOutDirt: He never uses earth spells, but has knowledge of it. This is how he develops Tremor Fist.
** MakingASplash: He sometimes uses water spells when dealing with fire.
** PlayingWithFire: He can conjure {{Fireballs}} and shoot a gush of fire from his hands.
** ShockAndAwe: He uses lightning-based spells most of the time.
* BrokenAce: Guile is a powerful BlackMage with insane endurance. He also possesses fatherly nature and a kind heart, which makes most of his friends (the children) look up to him. But by the time chapter 11 comes calling, Guile is terribly broken to the point he DesperatelyCravesAffection and doesn't really mind if people treat him like a crap, as long as the people just show him a little bit of affection and concern towards him.
** [[BreakTheCutie It's even worse when he's younger.]] (WordOfGod)
* BruiserWithASoftCenter / EmotionalBruiser: Although Guile is more of being UnskilledButStrong in melee combat, he is very tall (he is stated to be at least half a meter taller than Yoshino, a thirteen-year-old girl) and athletic. But he likes befriending children and being loved. Plus TenderTears.
** Chapter 11: Guile lets Draggy use his coat as a blanket and Pip sleep on him to keep them warm for the whole cold night.
* CanNotSpitItOut / {{Mangst}}: He can never tell his past and/or his true wish to other people, because they are likely to make him cry. Cue DarkAndTroubledPast.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: BIG TIME! His acts border MartyrWithoutACause and often cause Ari and Draggy to complain.
** When Ari scolds him for his acts (protecting Draggy and Pip, [[spoiler: cutting his ankle to get some of his blood to feed Draggy]]), he says that it's an instinct and becomes sad.
** When it's cold at night, he ''automatically'' takes off his coat and covers Draggy with it. This leaves him shirtless for the whole night.
*** He holds Pip close to him to keep Pip warm at the same night.
* TheCoatsAreOff: When he does this, he's serious about pulverizing you. And he enters a...
** ShirtlessScene: See [[http://gmustang94.deviantart.com/art/Chrono-Cross-Guile-Shirtless-459338141 here]].
* CosmicPlaything: Combined with his DarkAndTroubledPast, Guile is this. Things don't get better when he emerges in the real world, where he becomes a partner to the JerkAss Yoshino. But it gets better after he leaves Yoshino and makes some friends.
* CoveredWithScars: By arc 2. (WordOfGod)
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Tremor Fist is extremely powerful, but it costs Guile the use of his arm. Subverted in chapter 12, because it's Guile's way of throwing a punch that injures his arm. After receiving a lesson in punching from Akira, Guile can use it without having to sacrifice an arm.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: This has yet to be revealed, but there are a lot of hints, particularly in chapter 9 and 11. [[spoiler: Guile seems to keep losing his TrueCompanions over and over again.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: His spells are mostly enchanted with darkness, but he is easily the kindest of all the casts.
* DesperatelyCravesAffection: Justified. WordOfGod says that this is related to his DarkAndTroubledPast. Nothing pleases him more than your hugs and concern for him.
** When Ari hugs him and cries because of his concern, Guile sheds TearsOfJoy, clumsily attempts a SandInMyEyes, and ends up awkwardly admitting that he likes being loved.
* {{Determinator}}: Related to PapaWolf. Despite having been shredded by a chainsaw, blown away by a tornado, and beaten to within an inch of his life, Guile absolutely refuses to stay down until the children are safe.
* DominoMask: [[spoiler: Loses it in the fight against Genie. This saves his face from being mangled by Genie's chainsaw.]]
* DramaticHighPerching: He likes resting on a tree like a bird, and is capable of spying everything below by standing on a tree and hiding behind the leaves.
* [[spoiler: EarnYourHappyEnding]] : [[spoiler: In chapter 12, Yoshino finally accepts him as her friend; something he has been wishing for.]]
* ExtremeDoormat: To Yoshino at first, because he actually wishes that Yoshino shows more attention to him.
** DidYouThinkICantFeel: When Yoshino forces him to kill Starky, he finally snaps. It's because of his HonorBeforeReason attitude.
* {{Flight}} / PowerFloats
* FlyingBrick / FlyingFirepower: Although Guile is fairly fast, speed isn't his forte.
* FriendlyRivalry: With Riddel.
* FriendToAllChildren: Well, mostly.
* FullContactMagic: Tremor Fist.
* GentleGiant: If Draggy is in his normal form, Guile is easily the tallest of all people in the team. And he is a NiceGuy.
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: Suffers this once [[spoiler: after his mother self-destructs in front of him]]. When this happens, he smashes everything on his path and has to be held on place by all the Acacia Devas and some Acacia Dragoons so that Luccia can inject tranquilizer on him. He gets better thanks to Riddel and Luccia.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: He never receives a proper training in using his fists. He learns this by watching his dad brawling with wild animals and from some informal lessons from Akira.
* HeroesFightBarehanded: After losing his rod.
* HeroicBuild: Not overly muscular (athletic build is the closest to him), but he does have broad shoulders, a perky chest, a large back, a narrow waist, and a flat yet muscular abdomen. And he is extremely tall. Justified, because he was implied to have come from wilderness (has yet to be revealed).
* HeroicResolve: Most of the time. Often overlaps with HeroicSecondWind.
** He is already losing in a BeamOWar against the Tutanshaman Brothers, but when they threaten Draggy (who was meddling with their spells), Guile enters an UnstoppableRage and defeats them, [[DeconstructedTrope although he ends up injuring Draggy too.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: Subverted because Guile is a {{Determinator}} who is MadeOfIron. He receives Genie's air chainsaw that is meant for Draggy to his chest, but he survives, even though it's the second time he gets attacked by it.
** Downplayed in chapter 8, [[spoiler: when Guile cuts his ankle to get his blood so that he can feed it to a hungry Draggy. He only ends up with a drop foot after that.]]
* HeroicSecondWind: A lot. Often overlaps with HeroicResolve.
** When he fights Shadow Cat, the beast's claws have gone clean through his right clavicle and crippled his right arm. Being a right-handed mage, this seems to be a disadvantage for him, but not until he resorts to using his uninjured left arm. A {{Determinator}} he is.
** Despite having received forceful punches to his vital organs and a concussive blow from Skelly, the wound on his ankle reopened, and taken Draggy's Cough Drop directly on his chest, he still continued to figure out a way to defeat Skelly. This is because he has [[PowerOfTrust promised Ari to take good care of Draggy]] and [[PowerOfFriendship grown to like Draggy and Pip]] because [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe they have been nice to him.]]
*** Not to forget that the injuries (broken ribs and bruises) he sustained from Skelly in the fight earlier [[spoiler: and the cut he created on his ankle to get some of his blood to feed a hungry Draggy]] have not healed completely.
** Happens TWICE in chapter 12. He is already severely weakened when Genie manages to drive a chainsaw into his chest for the first time and blow him away with a tornado. But when Genie tries to harm Draggy with the same spell, Guile manages to spring back into action to protect Draggy, which leads to him receiving another chainsaw to his chest, right beside the first gash. After that, Genie exploits the injuries and stomps them, causing much pain to Guile until Yoshino intervenes by bashing her head with a stone and shoving her away. Guile, who has been incapacitated, finally springs back into action after a heartwarming talk with Yoshino. Thanks to Yoshino's care towards him, Guile evolves and ultimately defeats Genie, and collapses afterwards due to the injuries he has sustained.
* IGaveMyWord / TheFettered: Once he has made a promise, he will do ''anything'' to keep it.
* [[spoiler: [[IJustWantToHaveFriends I Just Want to Have a]] [[TrueCompanions Family]]]]
* KamehameHadoken: Lightning Blast and Annihilation Wave (after evolving).
* KungFuWizard: Has yet to be revealed. WordOfGod says that he becomes one later on.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy
* MadeOfIron: Downplayed. It does take A LOT to knock him out, but the injuries he receives often reduce his effectiveness in combat.
** He barely recovers from broken ribs, but the injuries don't slow him down. After that, he takes a ridiculous amount of damage when fighting Skelly, but he can still fight.
** It's worth noting that having a laceration on the head doesn't affect him at all. And having three gaping wounds on the chest which are caused by chainsaws? He can still stand up and fight back. See also OverdrawnAtTheBloodBank.
* MagicStaff: It can be for smacking opponents and shooting lightning. Guile actually uses this to help him in melee combat, but after losing it, he really shows that the rod is just an addition to his prowess in close combat.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Despite being visibly hurt, he always lets out an ImOkay. He does this so that people don't have to worry too much about him as shown in chapter 8.
* ManChild: Still retains a child's innocence despite being an adult.
** He still thinks that wishing under a falling star can grant him a wish.
* ManlyTears / TenderTears: He's probably the biggest badass, but is also a softie.
* MegatonPunch: Especially when he's mad.
* MenDontCry: [[AvertedTrope To be frank, he cries more often than other characters.]]
* MoodSwinger: A little.
* MrFanservice: LongHairedPrettyBoy, HeroicBuild without being overly muscular, a number of [[ShirtlessScene Shirtless Scenes]]... See TheCoatsAreOff and ShirtlessScene below. [[http://www.deviantart.com/art/Chrono-Cross-Fellowship-Guile-469160570 His regular outfit isn't very concealing either.]]
** WorkoutFanservice: Chapter 12 has him training how to punch and do some knuckles push-ups while being shirtless.
* NiceGuy: He is naturally gentle and nice. Up to eleven if you're nice to him.
** Although Yoshino has been very cruel to him, he doesn't seem to mind. He gladly forgives her.
** His kindness often reduces his effectiveness in combat and turns him into a StoneWall.
* NormallyIWouldBeDeadNow: He's still alive and able to stand up after having a chainsaw driven into his chest ''three times''. At the same time, he has a laceration on his head. [[FlatWhat What.]]
* NotAMorningPerson: And he ''snores''. He sleeps so soundly that sometimes Yoshino has to wake him up with a pail of cold water. Draggy also has to bite his hand to wake him up. He gets a bit cranky if he's abruptly woken up.
* OnlyAFleshWound: While the consequences of the injuries are fairly realistic, this trope still happens frequently.
** Between chapter 7 and 8, Guile is ''still alive'' despite having broken ribs and no medical attention for almost half a day. In addition, he has been pummeled by a storm of WeaponizedBall.
** In chapter 12, despite having a laceration on his head after getting knocked away to a tree, Guile keeps fighting. But what makes it worse is that the right side of his chest is shredded by a chainsaw ''three times''. And he is still alive and able to stand up and fight back.
*** However, after defeating Genie, he collapses with an appearance that is similar to a living dead, indicating that the blood loss affects him severely.
* OverdrawnAtTheBloodBank: Chapter 12. Guile is bleeding out from the laceration on his head. Then he is shredded by a chainsaw three times. And he suffers BloodFromTheMouth. But ''he is still alive and able to fight back'' before finally collapsing. That is ''after'' annihilating Genie.
** But the blood loss affects him as well.
* PapaWolf: Related to {{Determinator}}. Don't threaten and/or harm the children when Guile is around. Also, Guile never lets a child risk his/her life for him. When this happens, he will intervene ''no matter what''.
** [[YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe ...even after having a freakin' chainsaw jamming into his chest twice, blown away by a tornado, AND beaten to a bloody pulp.]]
** This says it all:
---> With sweat dribbling down his head and body, Guile panted and wiped the blood on his lips with an arm. He was tired and hurt, but his determination enabled him to speak fiercely, "As long as you try to hurt those children, I will NEVER stop ruining your plan!"
* ParentalSubstitute: Implied. He treats Draggy and Pip like his own children. Complete with PapaWolf.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Just look at the aftermath of his rage. He causes tremor, cracks the ground and the tree trunks, and blows off the leaves on the trees and hedge ''with a furious roar''. He also shakes West Shinjuku with this.
** And [[ShockwaveClap Tremor Fist]]. Guile is able to smash a giant tree in a blow with it.
*** [[TheSmartGuy Chikara]] remarks that Guile's Tremor Fist is a devastating move. If it doesn't kill the foe, it has broken all the bones in the foe's body, which leads to paralysis. Even if it misses the target slightly, the invisible shockwaves it creates can still severely injure the target.
*** This move also breaks Genie's arm and causes BloodFromTheMouth due to Genie ''barely dodging'' it. You won't want it to hit you directly for sure.
* PostVictoryCollapse: Often happens after winning a major fight, though Guile is still conscious after that.
** After defeating Skelly, Guile finally collapses due to his injuries from the earlier fights.
** A heartwarming one after defeating Genie.
* PurpleIsPowerful: His lightning attacks are purple in color.
* RageBreakingPoint: Happens frequently.
** He is an ExtremeDoormat to Yoshino, but when Yoshino forces him to kill Starky, he snaps because Starky is just a child.
** Being an AllLovingHero, he tries to convince Genie to be a good person again and holds back in the fight, but Genie ignores him beats him quite easily. However, when Genie says that she'll go after the children after killing Guile, Guile finally snaps and fights back.
* ScreamingWarrior: Only behaves like this when angered.
%%zce* ShockwaveClap: Tremor Fist.
* SignatureMove: Lightning Blast and Tremor Fist.
* SquishyWizard: In-universe characters [[UnderestimatingBadassery tend to view him being physically weak]], but it is in fact, '''''meticulously averted'''''. Aside from having an arsenal of powerful spells, Guile can fight with GoodOldFisticuffs. Plus SuperStrength, MadeOfIron, and HeroicBuild.
** He can do ''over thirty'' knuckle push-ups without a pause. If Akira hadn't remarked about this feat (which he finds surprising), which causes Guile to lose his concentration, Guile should've continued doing the push-ups.
* TheStoic
** NotSoStoic: He is prone to crying. And if you push his BerserkButton, he will turn into a ScreamingWarrior and pulverize you.
* SuperStrength: He stops a huge rolling steel ball by using his hands without any magic power.
** Yoshino's element swipe takes this up to eleven. The memorable one is when he catches Snibgoblin's arm and spins before throwing the creature away. Guile can also carry Draggy to the air with a hand without breaking a sweat (except as the side effect of the element swipe). Mind you, Draggy weighs ''over two hundred kilograms''.
*** Talking about Draggy, Guile can only lift the dragon a few centimeters above the ground without element swipe from Yoshino. However, he is still strong enough to drag Draggy with a hand.
** UnstoppableRage also enhances his strength.
*** He pounds the ground and sends a column of dirt shooting skywards. Followed with a rain of soil and pebbles.
*** He snaps Skelly's neck and knocks his skull off his skeleton with a kick.
*** He breaks Genie's nose and knocks her across the park with a punch.
* TakingTheBullet: For Draggy. He foils Genie's attempt to hurt Draggy with a chainsaw with this.
* {{Tareme}}: See [[http://www.deviantart.com/art/Chrono-Cross-Fellowship-Guile-Arc-2-Concept-Art-470390558 here]]. They reflect his kind heart.
* ThinkNothingOfIt: He has ChronicHeroSyndrome anyway.
* UnskilledButStrong: In close combat. He wins in term of strength, but loses when it comes about dexterity.
* UnstoppableRage: When he snaps and takes of his coat, RUN!
** Otherwise exploit his lack of tactics to win.
*** Basically, Guile doesn't have any specific fighting strategy other than AttackAttackAttack and killing enemies as soon as he sees a chance. But his UnstoppableRage makes it even worse because he doesn't wait for the chance anymore. He'll just blindly charge his enemy.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: His Tremor Fist comes from this. He uses the knowledge of GroundPunch in earth magic. He smashes his target instead of the ground.
* TheWorfEffect
** WorfHadTheFlu
*** He is holding back against the evolved Starky, because he doesn't really want to fight as Starky doesn't do anything wrong.
*** He is also holding back against Chisiki, because Chisiki is a human from the real world.
*** He thinks of destroying Skelly completely after discovering that Skelly can reattach his bones whenever they are separated. However, he takes too long charging a spell, which leaves him open to Skelly's attack.
* WouldNotShootAGoodGuy: Whatever you do, he will never hurt someone who seems kind or has been nice to him, and he may resort to defending for the whole battle or holding back. This is deconstructed in his past and leads to him [[GoMadFromTheRevelation losing his sanity]].
** In chapter 12, he tries to persuade Genie to return to the good side. He also admits that he doesn't like fighting against the good guys.
* WouldntHurtAChild: The reason why he refuses to attack Draggy and Starky.
* YouCanBarelyStand: Very common.
** After getting hit by Skelly's storm of WeaponizedBall, Guile is still standing, albeit it only takes a punch to the gut to knock him down (not senseless yet).
** He still sustains those injuries in the next fight against Skelly, in which Skelly beats him with GoodOldFisticuffs and causes BloodFromTheMouth, hits him with a concussive blow, reopens the wound on his left ankle, and lets him take Draggy's Cough Drop directly on his chest. Guile is still standing, and Skelly mocks him that with a poke of a finger, he will keel over.
** In his battle against Genie, after taking the second chainsaw to his chest and snapping at Genie, Guile stands with shaky limbs and blurry vision.
* YouLeaveHimAlone: When the Tutanshaman Brothers want to have a two on two against him and Draggy, he tells both of them to face him at once.
* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: Veeeeery appropriate.

* IComeInPeace: He's pretty much a docile alien.

* BigEater: He's a skeleton, and is capable of eating a lot due to his body system that converts real world food into data.
* BoringButPractical: His WeaponizedBall only involves conjuring steel balls, but it has many functions, depending on Skelly's need. Can be for a NoHoldsBarredBeatDown by hailing the foe with them. Can be for a transport too.
* ComicalOverreacting: "I STILL HAVE TWENTY-FIVE MISSING BONES!"
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler: Draggy's mother killed him and he was reanimated as a walking skeleton by the Tutanshaman Brothers. The motive of his vengeance is still unknown, but it's probably because of his death by Draggy's mother.]] This has yet to be completely revealed.

* LaughingMad: This often baffles Ami.
* StaringDownCthulhu: He is not afraid of Guile, and even pushes his BerserkButton.
