Below are Aurora and her party, listed in the order in which they join.

[[folder:Aurora]]
[[quoteright:194:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/childoflight_aurora_6841.png]]
[[caption-width-right:194:[[labelnote:Click here to see her after retrieving the Moon]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/65f79816525591562ada1a29628.jpg[[/labelnote]]]]
[[caption-width-right:194:[[labelnote:Click here to see her in the final acts of the game]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/childoflight_aurora_adult_8889.png[[/labelnote]]]]

The youngest daughter of an Austrian Duke. She is the victim of a spell that makes her wake up in the strange land of Lemuria, where she starts her journey back home.

Once she levels up a bit with some experience, Aurora quickly becomes a strong combatant who can stand against any monster who crosses her path.
----
* AffectionateNickname: Rubella calls her "little lady".
* AmbiguouslyHuman: She's a descendant of Erin, one of the historical founders of [[MagicalLand Lemuria]]. However, it's left ambiguous if she is a normal human who can use magic in Lemuria, or if she was always a magical being whose powers were awakened.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: She's by far the youngest playable character, about seven years old. [[spoiler:[[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] when she defeats Crepusculum and obtains the power of the moon, [[OvernightAgeUp which causes her to age into a young teenager]], at which point Gen becomes this.]]
** [[spoiler:Although by the time of the ''Reginald the Great'' (set a few years after the game) she appears to have reverted to her child form.]]
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler: She gets killed by Queen Umbra after Nox's defeat. Thankfully, the Sun, Moon and Stars revive her.]]
** [[spoiler: Even before then, she's already bit the dust before ending up in Lemuria]]
* BadassAdorable: She's such a little thing and her sword is way too heavy for her, but that doesn't stop her from kicking serious ass. Most little girls trapped in a dark forest with dangerous monsters would scream and run away. Aurora destroys said monsters with a sword and light magic.
* BeautyEqualsGoodness: [[spoiler:She's beautiful as a young woman, and is a very kind person.]]
* BenevolentMageRuler: [[spoiler:She becomes the new Queen of Lemuria in the ending.]]
* {{BFS}}: Her sword's almost as big as she is, at least when she's a little girl, and the animation shows that it takes everything she has to swing it.
* BlushSticker: Her artwork when conversing with other characters depicts her with perpetual blushing.
* BreakTheCutie: She's left devastated when [[spoiler:her stepsister, Norah, betrays her with the cruel revelation that [[FalseFriend she had never cared about her and it was all an act]]]], and she resigns herself to [[spoiler:death in the prison tower]]. Fortunately, [[spoiler:Óengus]] is able to remind her of the numerous lives that will suffer if she gives up.
* CharacterDevelopment: Aurora starts as a sheltered, scared girl, lost in an unknown world who just wants to go home. Through her journey, she makes allies, enemies and grows up ([[spoiler:and quite literally]]). This is explicated in her two shown chats with the Queen of Light: in one, she says she would rather stay at home in her castle; in the other, she says that a princess not necessarily needs one.
* AChildShallLeadThem: In fact things get hairy for your party [[spoiler:once she stops and tries to go home]].
* CoolCrown: [[spoiler:It helps to protect her from the Dark Queen's magic, until it disappears after her father's death. She gets a proper crystal crown after her revival.]]
* CounterAttack: Distressingly common for your enemies, amongst your party sadly unique to Aurora. Everyone else can only grin and bear it if a monster starts beating on them.
* TheCutie: She's such an adorable little girl. She experiences a lot of [[BreakTheCutie hardship and pain]] over the course of her adventure, but remains a very kind and sweet person overall.
* DaddysGirl: Extremely adored by her father, to the point where he falls ill [[spoiler:and eventually [[DeathByDespair dies of despair]]]] after she doesn't wake up from her sleep.
* DamselInDistress: She gets locked up by the bad guys for a short while, but Óengus comes to her rescue.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: When she was very young, she saw her own mother die of a mysterious sickness in front of her eyes, two years before the events of the story. [[spoiler:It is later revealed that her mother was in fact poisoned by Umbra.]]
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype:
** Of the KidHero. While Aurora is [[BadassAdorable quite capable]] in dealing with the dangers lurking in Lemuria, she is still very much a child lost and alone in a strange world, and it's pretty clear that the quest given to her is a huge burden on her and that she's NotInThisForYourRevolution, but just wants to go home. She has to accept that she can't remain in her comfort zone forever in order to prevail.
** Of TheCutie. Aurora is [[NiceGirl kind-hearted]], innocent and very huggable. However, her innocence also leaves her vulnerable to [[spoiler:manipulation by the EvilAllAlong Norah]], which nearly gets her and her friends all killed.
* DeadToBeginWith: [[spoiler:Her physical body died in Austria in the intro no thanks to [[WickedStepmother Umbra]] poisoning her, meaning she would be a disembodied spirit unable to be held by her loving father even if [[TheMole Norah/Nox]] had taken her home]].
* DespairEventHorizon: She gets hit with a double whammy of finding out her dad is dying and [[spoiler:the betrayal by her stepsister Norah]]. She goes into such a funk that even her flute-playing cannot ease her grief this time and she's just waiting until a torturer comes to collect her from the cage. [[spoiler:Luckily Óengus arrives first...]]
* DontCallMeSir: Maybe it's the crown, that she always points out as fake, but everybody that meets Aurora calls her "Princess". She insists in being called Aurora. Óengus is the only one that she allows to call her Princess because [[spoiler:as daughter of the Queen Of Light, Aurora is his Princess and no matter what she says, he'll follow his code of honor.]]
* DramaticWind: Her hair is always flowing as if there is a breeze, even in places without wind. The only time it hangs down even a little is if she stands in the bottom of a waterfall.
* EtherealWhiteDress: Begins wearing white [[spoiler:after she is resurrected by the Sun, Moon and Stars.]]
* {{Foil}}: She's eventually revealed to be one to [[spoiler:her stepsister Norah. They are both young princesses with connections to a MagicalLand. However, Aurora is a genuine NiceGirl while Norah turns out to be TheMole and an EvilAllAlong BitchInSheepsClothing]].
* FieryRedhead: Downplayed; Aurora has long, red hair, but she's generally a very kind, compassionate person. That said, she is no doormat, and if she is angry, she'll show it.
* {{Flight}}: She gains the ability to fly after collecting the stars.
* GoodIsNotSoft: While very kind and compassionate, Aurora isn't afraid to use lethal force against those who hurt her, her friends, or other innocent lives.
* TheHeart: She's this and the HopeBringer. Whenever she plays her flute, whichever team mate who was going through a crisis will feel better and have a renewed sense of hope.
* HiddenDepths: Her conversation with Rubella before the latter joins the party reveals that she can read and understand Latin, deciphering a letter that Igniculus sees as "scribbly marks".
* HighClassGloves: Seen in both her dress at the beginning of the game [[spoiler: and in her incarnation as the Queen of Light in the final battle. See the images at right]].
* TheHighQueen: [[spoiler:Becomes one in the ending]]
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Turns out trusting [[spoiler:[[EvilAllAlong Norah]]]] wasn't a good idea in the end. Justified as she's an innocent child, [[spoiler:Norah]] preyed on her innocence by [[spoiler:pretending to be her loving stepsister]], and [[ComingOfAgeStory the joys and sorrows of growing up are an important theme throughout the story]].
* InfinityPlusOneElement: She's the sole user of the Light element which no creature has an elemental resistance to and it hammers any creatures that are elementally dark, including a couple of bosses. If you aren't able to bring Finn into play or he's whiffing a battle, then Aurora ends up as a very capable secondary offensive mage on the strength of this element.
* JackOfAllStats: Her stats are all fairly balanced. Other party members can fulfil specific roles (e.g. tanking) better than her, but she has exclusive access to [[InfinityPlusOneElement light magic]].
* KidHero: She is a cute little girl, and the heroine of this story.
* LightEmUp[=/=]HolyHandGrenade: Being the titular Child of Light [[spoiler:and the Queen of Light's daughter]], she learns light-elemental spells naturally.
* LightIsGood: She's the titular Child of Light [[spoiler:and daughter of the Queen of Light]], wears a yellow dress, is a user of light magic, and is a very kind person.
* LittleMissBadass: She kicks tons of monster ass as a cute little girl.
* TheLoad[=/=]MagikarpPower: Justified initially, after all she's a little girl. At first, any single hit will do a lot of damage to her (and she has one of the worst health totals in the game!), her early attack is one of the weakest, she's neither fast nor agile and she needs more experience to earn a level compared to her companions. So it's a good thing she gets a companion pretty quickly after the first boss. After a couple of levels, she becomes much better and one of the top-tier characters who can more than hold her own against even strong opponents.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: She had no idea that [[spoiler:her mother is the Queen of Light and former ruler of Lemuria]] until the Queen of the Night told her so at the Forgotten Tower. This in turn surprises the Queen of the Night, who had expected her to know. [[spoiler:[[IgnoredEpiphany Not that that stops the Dark Queen from attempting to kill her anyway.]]]]
* LuredIntoATrap: [[spoiler:By her own stepsister Norah, who [[ILied had lied]] about the MagicMirror taking them home to Austria and [[BitchInSheepsClothing is not nearly the sweet sister she pretends to be]].]]
* MagicKnight: Balanced at both melee combat and spellcasting.
* MeaningfulName: Aurora means ''dawn'' in Latin; Aurora is literally the end of the eternal darkness Umbra has cast over Lemuria. Bonus points for going first for the night luminaries (the stars and the moon) and ending with the sun.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Her longing to go home to her father backfires when [[spoiler:it's exploited by her stepsister Norah, who is later revealed to be [[TheDragon Nox]], one of the Queen of the Night's daughters]], and her friends all get captured and imprisoned. When Aurora sees them imprisoned, this is her reaction.
* MysticalWhiteHair: She can have hair like this if you have the DLC.
* {{Nice G|uy}}irl: She's generally a very kind person, [[BewareTheNiceOnes unless you're Umbra or her minions]].
* NarratorAllAlong: She's the one reading the story.
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: Played straight initially, then averted. Aurora searches for the moon and sun, but she really just wants to go home to her father[[spoiler:, a desire that [[EvilAllAlong Norah]] is all too happy to take advantage of]]. After her longing to go home backfires and she and her friends are all imprisoned and nearly killed, Aurora swears to defend Lemuria and its people.
* OvernightAgeUp: [[spoiler: After obtaining the moon, she grows from a little girl into a young lady.]]
** [[spoiler:By the time of the ''Reginald the Great'' (set a few years after the game) she appears to have reverted to her child form. She also appears to lack her fairy wings so maybe she reverted after returning the stars, moon and sun.]]
* OneHitKill: Her Light Ray series of spells has a 10% chance of outright destroying a dark creature.
** Light Ray will kill anything that's not a boss. Note that the game uses dark creature as a general term for monster, it doesn't have to mean a creature of elemental darkness.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: The player can invoke one if you choose not to help Finn or Óengus free their peoples or help Robert open the vault. The normally altruistic, fundamentally {{Nice G|uy}}irl Aurora will justify your decision with what amounts to "well, I can't help everyone, I guess", despite going out of her way to help ''everyone else'' she comes across.
** That said, she can turn back and change her mind about helping or not.
* PlotRelevantAgeUp: [[spoiler:Gets one when she defeats Crepusculum and absorbs the moon, going from approximately 8–9 to 15.]]
** [[spoiler:By the time of the ''Reginald the Great'' (set a few years after the game) she appears to have reverted to her child form. She also appears to lack her fairy wings so maybe she returned the stars, moon and sun causing her to revert to her form at the start of the game. Or maybe it was just a glaring oversight.]]
* PrettyPrincessPowerhouse: She's the daughter of an Austrian Duke and [[spoiler: the Queen of Light. Aurora herself ranks up to queen status by the end]]. Before long, she'll be slaying monsters every bit as well as any JRPG hero. [[DontCallMeSir She doesn't like being called "Princess" though and insists on "Aurora".]]
* RedIsHeroic: She has red hair, and is TheHero facing against the [[BigBad Queen of the Night]].
* SemiDivine: [[spoiler: She's a descendant of Erin, who's pretty much a goddess.]]
* ShelteredAristocrat: The Duke got extra careful on his daughter's safety after the death of the Duchess. Thanks to her sheltered upbringing, Aurora never saw the possibility of leaving the walls of her castle and was desperate to return home once she arrived in Lemuria. Her mother once gave her a lecture about leaving the safety of the palace and growing up facing the world outside.
* StatusBuff: Elevate Damage, which increases damage output for a few turns.
* TheresNoPlaceLikeHome: She just agrees to travel and fight all the way needed to find the mirror that would take her back home. [[spoiler:After swearing to defend Lemuria, her father's death and the flood, she made Lemuria her new home and brought her people to live there.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: [[spoiler: After opening her cage, Óengus calls her out as a coward and a disappointment to her mother when she starts faltering and excusing herself off as no more than a little girl who cannot possibly take on the Queen of Darkness. After that wake-up call, Aurora gets her second wind and gets back in the thick of it.]]
* WingedHumanoid: She gains fairy wings after obtaining the stars, which allows her to fly.
* YouthfulFreckles: As her artwork when conversing with other characters shows. [[spoiler:She still has them as a young woman.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Igniculus]]
[[quoteright:110:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/childoflight_igniculus_5025.png]]

A friendly firefly whom Aurora meets. He decides to follow and help her in her journey.
----
* AffectionateNickname: Aurora usually calls him "Sir Firefly" at the beginning, though her formality towards him gradually softens over time as their friendship deepens.
* BlindedByTheLight: Invokes this on enemies, stunning them out of battle and slowing them during battle.
* ConstantlyCurious: As he's a newborn [[spoiler:elemental]], Igniculus constantly asks Aurora questions; like "What is a father?" or "What is love?"
* DeadpanSnarker: Although it gets toned down a bit near the end as he forms a close bond with Aurora.
* ElementalEmbodiment: [[spoiler:A late-game sidequest reveals that he isn't a firefly; he's actually a summoned elemental.]]
* FairyCompanion: To Aurora.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: He looks more like a ball of light than an insect, despite being referred to as a firefly. [[spoiler:A late-game sidequest reveals that he is actually a summoned [[ElementalEmbodiment elemental]]]].
* HealingHands: He can use his light to heal allies, both in and out of battle.
* IChooseToStay: When offered the opportunity to escape Lemuria with the [[spoiler:other]] elementals, Igniculus considers it, but ultimately chooses to stay by Aurora's side and save Lemuria from Umbra.
* OnlySaneMan: Has shades of this. See DeadpanSnarker above.
* SeriousBusiness: How he views the game's rhyming speech; he quickly becomes irritated by Rubella's messing it up.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Aurora, eventually, [[IChooseToStay choosing to stay by her side rather than join his brethren in escaping Umbra's grasp]].
* TheWatson: As a newborn [[spoiler:elemental]], he is constantly asking questions about the world, even more so than Aurora.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rubella]]
[[quoteright:183:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/childoflight_rubella_6638.png]]

One of two jesters, sister to Tristis, and a member of the ballon-flying Aerostati. She wishes to join up her brother with the circus band and tags along with Aurora.
----
* {{Foil}}: To her brother, Tristis. They're both jesters and {{Support Party Member}}s, but her optimism contrasts with her brother's pessimism.
* FragileSpeedster: Subverted. While she's the party's fastest character, she's got the second-highest HP total in the game, has a passive skill that auto-heals her when she gets low on health, and has tremendous defense.
* GenkiGirl: She's quite energetic.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: She's excited about Oengus joining the party, as her father told her stories about his clan. In her youth, she idolized the Kategida, a race of warriors who protected Lemuria.
* TheMedic: Her spells involve healing, revival, and negative status prevention.
** CombatMedic: That said, she's also good at interrupting foes via her Tumble attack. She also has one of the highest speed ratings in the game, sometimes allowing her to get two or three attacks to someone else's one and upgrades to her attack talent appear early in her skill tree. Her role is combat is balanced overall between offense and support, and can be tailored for either role exclusively to great effect.
* NoodlePeople: She's very lanky.
* NonIronicClown: Jester in this case, but she's almost always cheerful and provides a lot of comedy through her inability to rhyme (much to Igniculus' indignation).
* OptionalPartyMember: Players may not know this but she's one. It's her visibility combined with the fact that there are suddenly more enemies in skirmishes that force people to look for her.
* OurElvesAreDifferent: If the pointy ears, magical abilities, and slender build are any indication, Rubella and Tristis are elves of a sort. Their official name is the "Aerostati", a race of Lemuria known for dwelling in balloons.
* PerpetualSmiler: She's almost always smiling.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: With her brother, Tristis.
* PhraseCatcher: "[[RunningGag Don't you mean]] [word that rhymes with whatever Rubella has stated, but what she hasn't rhymed herself]?"
* SupportPartyMember: She learns the active skills Revive, Ailment Protection, Heal, and Tumble, her normal attack.
* SubvertedRhymeEveryOccasion: She doesn't know how to rhyme properly, often having other characters correct her.
* TheTeamNormal: She's just a humble jester.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Finn]]
[[quoteright:214:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/childoflight_finn_8609.png]]

A young(?) dwarf from the village of Capilli whom requests Aurora to help his cursed village.
----
* BlackMage: Can cast fire, lightning, and water spells.
* DistinguishedGentlemansPipe: He even uses this to cast spells.
* ElementalPowers: [[FireIceLightning Fire, Water, and Lightning.]]
* GoodSmokingEvilSmoking: He smokes via a pipe.
* LovableCoward: Understandable. He's actually just 13 years old and has never been on an adventure before.
* OptionalPartyMember: You can utterly ignore him if you want.
* OurDwarvesAreAllTheSame: Averted. He's an intellectual (if fairly naïve) LovableCoward who specializes in magic. He's also rather young, being only 13. The Capili just mature quickly.
* SquishyWizard: He has low defense, but has powerful elemental magic spells and good magic defence.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: He's only 13 but he's an old man. Explained in-universe; the Capili race ages quickly.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Norah]]
[[quoteright:203:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/childoflight_norah_1864.png]]

The younger of Aurora's two stepsisters. Norah adores her younger stepsister and tries to protect her from the evils lurking in Lemuria. She guides Aurora to a MagicMirror in the sky that will take them home.
----
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: While both of Aurora's biological parents have a role in the story, Norah's biological father is nowhere to be seen and his identity remains unknown.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: She has abilities based off {{Charm|Person}}ing and [[TakenForGranite Petrification]], yet she is an ally. [[spoiler: Subverted later when it's revealed [[BadPowersBadPeople she has bad powers and is a bad person.]]]]
* BeautyEqualsGoodness: She's beautiful, and aside from some FantasticRacism conflict with the Bolmus Populi which calls her nature into question, she's a loving and protective older stepsister to Aurora. [[spoiler:Subverted later when it's revealed that her sweet demeanor is nothing but a façade, whereupon she veers off into [[BeautyIsBad this trope's polar opposite]].]]
* BeneathTheMask: [[spoiler:Her charming personality is nothing but a façade, concealing a dangerous [[TheSociopath sociopath]].]]
* ButThouMust: She will definitely join Aurora's side regardless of what happens.
* CoolBigSis: To Aurora.
* CrutchCharacter: Levels up ''very quickly'' compared to the other characters, and sports some ''very'' useful skills. [[spoiler:She also leaves after she comes out as EvilAllAlong.]]
* DeclarationOfProtection: She tells Aurora that as her big sister, it's her job to protect her.
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Of the CoolBigSis. Little Aurora looks up to and loves Norah as her big sister. [[spoiler:However, because Norah eventually turns out to be a BitchInSheepsClothing who was EvilAllAlong, she becomes a major BrokenPedestal and source of trauma to Aurora.]]
* DissonantSerenity: For someone TrappedInAnotherWorld, Norah seems quite calm when you find her, contrasting Aurora who broke out crying when she first arrived in Lemuria. [[spoiler:[[{{Foreshadowing}} That's because]] Norah is more familiar with Lemuria than she lets on.]]
* DramaticWind: Same deal as Aurora.
* EekAMouse: She seems to hate rats and is [[FantasticRacism disgusted at Robert and Bolmus people]] in general.
* {{Expy}}: Of [[VideoGame/BravelyDefault Airy]]. She's a white-haired girl who serves as a guide to our heroine, [[spoiler:is [[ManipulativeBitch manipulating]] her for the sake of enforcing a greater evil's will, is fought in a boss battle near the end, and [[OneWingedAngel transforms into a monstrous form]] to fight the heroes]].
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** A meta example. [[spoiler:Notice how she's the only one of the TrueCompanions who isn't on the collector's edition poster?]]
** Before getting into the mirror, Norah lectures Aurora about how people aren't always what they seem and that not everybody is as goodhearted as her. [[spoiler:[[VillainHasAPoint This is minutes before her treason.]]]]
* InexplicablyAwesome: Played with. When asked about how she developed her powers, she mentions that the Woman In White gave her magical rings, explaining how she can wield magic on this side of the mirror. [[spoiler:This is a bare-faced lie, since she most likely had the powers all along]].
* InterfaceSpoiler: [[spoiler:Like the rest of the party, the strongest of Norah's skills cannot be learned until Aurora gains the power of the moon at the end of Chapter 8. Because this happens after her betrayal, this can give the impression that Norah may have a change of heart later on and rejoin the party. Ultimately subverted. Norah does not rejoin the party, and can only learn those skills on New Game+.]]
* MagicKnight: Just like Aurora, she fights with both magic and a blade.
* TheMole: [[spoiler:She was on her mother's side all the time, tricking Aurora into getting in the wrong magic mirror to lead her to the Forgotten Tower.]]
* MsFanservice: A mild example. She's a beautiful young girl whose dress leaves her shoulders exposed. [[spoiler:Subverted later when it's revealed that she's extremely manipulative and cruel, whereupon she veers off into FanDisservice.]]
* {{Nice G|uy}}irl: She's friendly and charming to pretty much everyone save [[FantasticRacism Robert and his people]] [[spoiler: [[SubvertedTrope and]] everyone that isn’t her mother and her biological sister.]]
* NiceToTheWaiter: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]]; for some reason, she seems to utterly hate Bolmus Populi and its people, especially Robert. This is probably because she [[EekAMouse hates rats]].
* TheReveal: [[spoiler:She was working for Umbra, her mother, all along and was only deceiving Aurora all this time]].
* SoLongAndThanksForAllTheGear: [[spoiler:She'll permanently leave the party after her betrayal and take any Oculi on her person with her, not to mention any stat increases you'd buffed her with.]]
** [[spoiler: Given that her skills are very helpful and she will most likely be low level (compared to the rest of the party) by the time she joins, it is very likely one would equip her with a diamond, which boosts EXP, and takes time to make by fusing tons of other oculi. Rage ensues.]]
** [[spoiler: Slightly forewarned by the Capili who tells you to give Oculi to those you trust, shortly after obtaining Norah.]]
* SequenceBreaking: True, she joins your side no matter what you do, but you can actually recruit her first before you recruit Finn.
* SquishyWizard: Particularly in the NewGamePlus [[spoiler:because she's at comparatively low levels due to leaving the party]].
* StepfordSmiler: She's a sociable, charming girl, but expresses disgust at [[RatMen the Bolmus Populi]] [[spoiler:and is later revealed to be [[AxCrazy more than a little unhinged]]]].
* SupportPartyMember: Her physical attack is very weak, but her skills involve boosting other party members and debilitating enemies.
* WalkingSpoiler: She's closely linked to a mid-game plot twist, making her difficult to talk about thoroughly without spoiling it.
* WarriorPrincess: Comes with the territory when she's older than Aurora.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Robert]]
[[quoteright:172:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/childoflight_robert_8967.png]]

A business man archer from Bolmus Populi who takes an interest in Aurora's journey just to increase his earnings and earn the love of another Bolmus.
----
* AntiHero: He travels with Aurora for personal reasons, but remains an ally to the end.
* BabiesEverAfter: In a [[http://ubistatic2-a.akamaihd.net/emea/gamesites/childoflight/E_book_COL_EN_.pdf tie-in book]] that occurs a few years after the game's events, he and Margaret have married and have a son named Reginald.
* CriticalHitClass: Has a noticeably higher critical hit rate than most other characters.
* DoggedNiceGuy: All he wants is to gain wealth and fame in order to impress [[UptownGirl Margaret]], a mouse girl he's in love with.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Has traits of this. He travels with Aurora for personal reasons, and remarks about business opportunities even in inappropriate situations, but he's very friendly and grows to care for Aurora and her other friends.
* MoneyFetish: He is a businessman, after all.
* NiceMice: He's somewhat selfish and is more interested in making money and impressing another mouse than saving Lemuria, but he remains an ally to the end.
* OptionalPartyMember: After getting to the depths of Magna's body, Robert degrades himself to this.
* RainOfArrows: His multi-target attack.
* RatMen: He's a humanoid mouse.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tristis]]
[[quoteright:212:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/childoflight_tristis_3667.png]]

One of two jesters, brother to Rubella, and a member of the ballon-flying Aerostati. Contrary to his sister, Tristis is perpetually sad and depressed.
----
* TheEeyore: He's perpetually sad and depressed.
* {{Foil}}: To his sister, Rubella. They're both jesters and {{Support Party Member}}s, but his pessimism contrasts with his sister's optimism.
* MeaningfulName: His name sounds closely to the Spanish and Italian word "triste", which means sad.
* OptionalPartyMember: Unlike how many people were forced to take Rubella in to fend off the larger number of enemies at the beginning, some obliviously ignore this guy and never find him, missing out on a useful SupportPartyMember in the process.
* OurElvesAreDifferent: If the pointy ears, magical abilities, and slender build are any indication, Tristis and Rubella are elves of a sort. Their official name is the "Aerostati", a race of Lemuria known for dwelling in balloons.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: Lampshaded by Aurora, who wishes she could be able to record Tristis's happiest moment, [[spoiler:Aurora's return to rescue the party from the dungeon]], as he said the happiness won't last long.
* PerpetualFrowner: He's almost always sad.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: With his sister, Rubella.
* SadClown: Looks the part, although he tells Genovefa that his sadness is "just makeup" and says what he feels is more like grief, which he considers distinct from -- and deeper than -- mere sadness.
* StatusBuff: Ultimate Armor provides extra defense against physical and magical damage, Unstoppable prevents allies from getting interrupted, and Haste increases the speed of a party member.
* StoneWall: Boasts very high defense and magical defense, but is lacking in attack.
* SupportPartyMember
* SurvivorsGuilt: [[spoiler:Either the demise of the circus is making him sad, or he's just sad anyway.]]
* [[WhenSheSmiles When He Smiles]]: The opportunities when Tristis smiles are rare, but very valuable.

[[folder:Óengus]]
[[quoteright:249:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/childoflight_oengus_1382.png]]

A proud Kategida warrior who had no choice but to side with Umbra, secretly scheming against her plot to conquer Lemuria and free his people, including his young brother.
----
* TheAtoner: After being banished from the Kategida Clan for forming an alliance with Umbra in exchange for his clan's survival--therefore betraying his clan's code of honour--Óengus accepts Aurora's offer to fight alongside her for a chance to regain his lost honour, and becomes dedicated to both protecting his Princess and atoning for his past actions.
* TheBigGuy: He and the Golem are the most physically powerful of the party.
* ChargedAttack: His Quake series of skills.
* CoolMask: He wears a mask, and has great physical attack.
* CriticalHitClass: Has a noticeably higher critical hit rate than most other characters.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Looks menacing and initially works for the bad guys, but is really a good guy at heart.
* FateWorseThanDeath: Considers his banishment from the Kategida clan as this.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: In her darkest moment, he calls Aurora out for her lack of faith in herself and for trying to step away from Lemuria's plight, even when she knows she's the only one that can stop Umbra.
* GoodCounterpart: To Nox. They are both warriors who formed false alliances with the opposite side during the Lemurian conflict; but Óengus did so [[TakeMeInstead in a desperate exchange for the lives of his clan]] after they were defeated in battle, is decidedly unhappy about betraying them and later becomes TheAtoner, while Nox [[spoiler:[[BitchInSheepsClothing formed a close sisterly bond with Aurora to gain the little girl's trust so she could manipulate her]], had coldly planned her false bond with Aurora and subsequent betrayal [[EvilAllAlong since the beginning]], and [[{{Sadist}} takes a sickening pleasure in the pain she causes Aurora]]]].
* HeelFaceTurn: Instantly switches sides when he finds out about Aurora's identity as [[spoiler:the daughter of the Queen of Light]].
* HeroicBSOD: Gets one after [[spoiler: his clan banishes him for betraying them]].
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: He allied himself with the Dark Queen in order to save his clan.
* MightyGlacier: He has great attack power, but is rather slow and lacking in magic defense.
* OneHitKill: Kiss of Death adds an instant-death chance to ''all'' his attacks.
* OptionalPartyMember: After making it down the tower, he leaves the party when he sees the dungeon holding the rest of his clan. It's up to the player if they want to help him, and he won't rejoin the party if they leave him.
* PracticalTaunt: His Taunt move makes enemies target him. Upgrading it fully also gives him RegeneratingHealth while taunting.
* PromotionToParent: Óengus mentions that he raised his brother on his own. He also swears to hunt down Umbra if [[BigBrotherInstinct she did something to Cuchulain]].
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: The Kategida are a race of {{Blood Knight}}s.
* TheQuisling: He's seen as this by his brethren, though only became one because he didn't want to see them destroyed.
* {{Samurai}}: He supposedly wields a sword ([[InformedAttribute which is never shown]]), and the Kategida follow a strict code of honour. The rest of his clan are '''not''' happy with him for forming an alliance with the Dark Queen and her daughters, even if it's a false allience to save them.
* TheSleepless: He tells Tristis that he never sleeps.
* SpannerInTheWorks: If Óengus didn't come to save Aurora from her cell, Queen Umbra would have arguably won.
* TakeMeInstead: He tells Aurora that he and his clan fought against Queen Umbra and her daughters but were overpowered and doomed for death, and [[DespairEventHorizon in a moment of despair]] he offered his services to them in exchange for the lives of his clan.
* ThunderboltIron: A discussion with Robert reveals he wields a sword, although it's [[InformedAttribute never shown]]. Óengus says he mined the metal from "the silver tears of comets."

One of the last survivors of the Piscean village. She is a fish girl who joins Aurora to seek revenge on Umbra for killing her parents.
----
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: She reveals that she's almost ten to Finn, who is the second youngest at 13.
* BadassBookworm: She tells Robert that she learned magic from a book of Piscean spells and that she has a love of reading.
* BerserkButton: For some reason, she dislikes clowns and jokes. She even was ready to attack Rubella when she talked to her. Fortunately, Rubella is a jester.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: This gives her motivation to destroy Queen Umbra, and allows her to join the party.
* ChildProdigy: Robert points out how she knows quite a few helpful spells despite not even being ten yet.
* LastOfHerKind: She and Drust are the only survivors of the Piscean village.
* MusicalAssassin: She casts spells via her harp.
* OptionalPartyMember: You can either inform her that her parents were smashed down to bits or ignore her and continue.
* RoseHairedSweetie: Downplayed. She has pink hair and pigtails that looks like flowers but, aside from some childish moments, she's quite mature.
* StatusBuff: Jump Forward Jig allows the player to start further in front of the wait zone.
* StatusEffects: Can cause knockback, slow, and paralyze with her abilities.
* SupportPartyMember: Her offensive stats are poor, but she has several [[TimeMaster abilities that affect the timeline]].
* TimeMaster: Unlike Norah, Gen has more moves to slow enemies down, and even her standard attack can cause knockback all the time.
* WhenSheSmiles: Gen's default face seems to be a [[PerpetualFrowner frown]], but she's very cute in the moment she's smiling.

----
* TheBigGuy: He and Óengus are the most physically powerful of the party.
* CriticalHitClass: Has a noticeably higher critical hit rate than most other characters.
* DarkIsNotEvil: His name tag and dialogue are [[ColorCodedSpeech color-coded]] black, and he is a loyal ally.
* LosingYourHead: He's literally a talking head when you first find him. You need to find the rest of his parts to put him back together.
* MightyGlacier: Even moreso than Óengus, he has good attacking stats, and good magical defense, but is the slowest character.
* [[invoked]] NoExportForYou: Wii U owners will never get to have him due to unexplained reasons. Everyone else had more luck.
* RegeneratingHealth: Has an ability that allows him to regenerate health over a few turns.
* StatusEffects: Can cause knockback, slow, and paralyze with his abilities.

[[folder:The Lady of the Forest '''(Unmarked Spoilers)''']]
!!Lady of the Forest/Queen of Light

An old woman who helps Aurora traverse Lemuria. She is later revealed to be the spirit of Aurora's deceased mother, the Queen of Light.
----
* AmbiguouslyHuman: She's a descendent of Erin, one of the historical founders of [[MagicalLand Lemuria]]. However, it's left ambiguous if she is a normal human who learnt magic while in Lemuria, or was always a magical being.
* ButNowIMustGo: Disappears seconds after giving the flute to Aurora. Once Aurora defeats Umbra and becomes Queen, her spirit can finally rest in peace, now that her daughter, people and land are safe.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Her hair is golden, and she is a kind woman.
* TheHighQueen: Once her identity as the Queen of Light is revealed.
* InTheHood: The Lady of the Forest is dressed in a grey cloak.
* ItMayHelpYouOnYourQuest: Aside from giving Aurora wings, she gives her a flute. It's not even a magic flute, just a simple, mundane flute. This flute, however, helps to encourage depressed people with its melody. When Aurora dies, the Queen plays the melody to summon the Sun, Moon, and Stars to revive her.
* LonelyAtTheTop: She was all alone in her castle and always had a sad face while walking its empty hallways. She left Lemuria to escape the loneliness.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: She left Lemuria to escape the loneliness of her castle. While it allowed her to meet the Duke and give birth to Aurora, it was a risky move as it ''also'' allowed Umbra to find her, murder her, and conquer Lemuria -- which is ''exactly'' what happens.
* TheReveal: She's the Queen of Light and Aurora's mother.
* SemiDivine: As the Queen of Light and Aurora's mother, she's a descendant of Erin, who's pretty much a goddess.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Her active role is minimal, appearing once after the first boss and disappears until just before the FinalBoss, but she is the one who tells Aurora about Lemuria's suffering under Queen Umbra and how to help the land's people, bestows Aurora with the power to [[WingedHumanoid fly]] as well as giving her a flute [[HopeBringer to bring hope to the depressed]], and is [[TheReveal revealed]] at the end to be the spirit of her dead mother, the Queen of Light. In other words, she is very important to the story.
* UnnamedParent: Her name is never disclosed.
* WalkingSpoiler: Her end-game [[TheReveal reveal]] as the Queen of Light and Aurora's mother changes everything about her.
* WalkingTheEarth: Some confessions narrate her travels around Europe after she left Lemuria.

* ForcedTransformation: Was turned into a crow by the Dark Queen.
* GrumpyOldMan: He's not the most pleasant person in Lemuria, but he's far from the worst.
* MeaningfulName: His name means ''grandfather'' in Portuguese.
* SoProudOfYou: After he learns that his cowardly son Finn had fought against the darkness, he finally calls Finn a man.

* EarlyBirdCameo: She, or a being like her, can be seen walking across the background while Aurora traverses the Mahthildis Forest.
* GeniusLoci: She's pretty much a sentient, humanoid cliff with the Bolmus city on her back.
* MonsterShapedMountain: A sentient variant.
* RockMonster: A giant made of a mountain.
* WombLevel: In a sense -- you have to go inside her in order to kill the spiders who have infested her.

* BigLittleBrother: Cuchulain is considerably taller than Óengus.
* CodeOfHonour: Óengus broke the code by allying with the Dark Queen, so he was banished from the clan.
* CoolMask: Like all Kategida.
* {{Forgiveness}}: Forgives Óengus for his actions and welcomes him back into the Kategida clan after he learns that Óengus helped to protect Aurora.
* HonorBeforeReason: He would rather die with honor than live by being rescued by his brother who had planned to save them all by faking alliance with Umbra. [[KickTheDog And that was the guy who raised him since he was little]].
* MeaningfulName: He's named after Cú Chulainn, a legendary hero from Myth/CelticMythology.

* LastOfHisKind: He and Gen are the last Pisceans in the village.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: He's never seen after the party leaves to face the Ogre, nor does he reappear in the game's climax. This may imply he was also eaten shortly thereafter, leaving Gen as the last Piscean.

[[folder:Reginald]]

The son of Robert and Margaret born after the events of the game, he's a very adventurous Bolmus Populi. Unfortunately, most Bolmus Populi are too focused on business and marketing, so he decides to do a little venture...
----
* ImagineSpot: Several of his "adventures" are actually these. The events in the book are contrasted with what's actually happening, [[FantasySequence and what goes on in his head]].
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: Most of the Bolmus Populi love business and trade, but Reginald just seeks adventure.
* NiceMice: A nice guy, just like his dad.
* SpinOffspring: As mentioned, he's the son of Robert and Margaret and stars in [[http://ubistatic2-a.akamaihd.net/emea/gamesites/childoflight/E_book_COL_EN_.pdf his own book]].

A [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen despotic queen]] and [[CoDragons her two daughters]] who co-rule Lemuria by fear. They have stolen the sun, moon and stars from the Lemurian sky, leaving the land trapped in endless darkness.
----
* AchillesHeel: Crepusculum is quite weak to physical attacks in her OneWingedAngel form, Nox to lightning, and Umbra to light.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: They're descendants of Cynbel, one of the historical founders of [[MagicalLand Lemuria]]. Whether they were born human and gained access to magic because of their connections to Lemuria, or were born as magical entities who took on human forms, is left unanswered.
* TheExile: Umbra's mother was banished from Lemuria years before the plot begins, leaving them in exile while they bade their time for {{Revenge}}.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: [[TheExile Umbra and her daughters grew up in exile]] because the former's mother had been banished from Lemuria [[spoiler:by Aurora's mother, the Queen of Light]] as punishment for leading a civil war against the descendants of the other Explorers [[spoiler:which led to [[FinalSolution the extinction of the Mahthildis and Rambert family lines]]]]. It's safe to assume that life in exile was very difficult for them, especially since their exile was because of Umbra's mother's actions and not their own, but the narrative makes it clear that their suffering does not excuse their [[TyrantTakesTheHelm tyranny after usurping Lemuria]] [[spoiler:by murdering Aurora's mother, the Queen of Light in {{Revenge}}]], ''especially'' since they cause a lot of suffering to others, including those who had nothing to do with the conflict between them and the previous queen.
* {{Jerkass}}: They are all very nasty people. Nox in particular is a [[{{Sadist}} sadistic]] [[TheSociopath sociopath]] who enjoys psychologically abusing an innocent [[WouldHurtAChild child]] and [[HateSink is not likable in the slightest]].
* LadyOfBlackMagic: An evil queen and duo of princesses from a MagicalLand in extravagant dresses, and powerful sorceresses.
* MeaningfulName: They each have Latin names that relate to night -- Umbra means ''shadow'', Crepusculum means ''twilight'', and Nox literally means ''night''. Nox was also the goddess of the night in [[Myth/ClassicalMythology Roman mythology]].
* OneWingedAngel[=/=]ScaledUp: Crepusculum and Umbra turn into giant dragons for their boss battle, while Nox turns into a giant sea serpent.
* SemiDivine: They are descendants of Cynbel, who's pretty much a god.
* SourOutsideSadInside: They are each implied to be deeply unhappy people inside. [[spoiler:Umbra somberly admits that she just wanted a home after her final defeat, Crepusculum tries to murder Aurora, a [[WouldHurtAChild child]] [[EvilIsPetty because she dislikes her cheerful smile]], and Nox once angrily refers to Erin's entire lineage as a "foul bloodline"]]. Unfortunately for them, [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse their atrocities earn them no sympathy]].
* VillainousLegacy: According to the Confessions, the [[FeudingFamilies conflict between Cynbel's descendants and the descendants of the other three explorers]] was already there long before their time, though the conflict apparently took a major turning point to become violent on a large scale by the time of Umbra's mother, which resulted in her exile.
* WouldHurtAChild: They all try to kill Aurora several times during the story, [[spoiler:with Umbra partially succeeding twice]]. Nox is also shown to be actively psychologically abusive towards Aurora, [[spoiler:acting like a loving stepsister [[BitchInSheepsClothing so as to gain her trust and then exploit it]], [[{{Sadist}} actively delighting in the pain she inflicts upon her]] when she sees fit to reveal the truth]].

Aurora's WickedStepmother. The [[BigBad main antagonist]], she tries to conquer Lemuria in {{revenge}} for her mother's exile, and causes many curses to both lands. Mother of two daughters, Crepusculum and Nox.
----
* AlasPoorVillain: She goes out quite resigned and somberly, merely telling Aurora that all she wanted was a home, some place she could call her own. Never mind the fact she caused many deaths and chaos in Lemuria.
-->'''Umbra:''' I only wanted a home. Someplace... I could call my own.
-->'''Aurora:''' In this world, for ill or good, we live together, not alone.
* BigBad: She is the main antagonist.
* CoolCrown: As the BigBad, she's an important character.
* DarkIsEvil: She wears dark purple and has black hair. [[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter Yup, obviously a good guy.]]
* {{Entitled B|astard}}itch: She believes herself to be the "rightful" ruler of Lemuria. In reality, she's a despotic usurper who murdered the previous ruler, Aurora's mother, to take the throne.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Despite her being a murderous despot, she loved her daughters Crepusculum and Nox. When Aurora kills Nox, her last surviving daughter, Umbra laments that her bloodline is now broken.
-->'''Umbra:''' No! My youngest dead. The bloodline broke.
* EvilCounterpart: To Aurora. Umbra herself notes that there are similarities between the two of them prior to their battle, both being distant descendants of two of Lemuria's founders (Umbra from Cynbel the Wise, Aurora from Erin the Conqueror) and were outcasts living outside of Lemuria at one time. That's where the similarities pretty much end, as Umbra is a vengeful tyrant who ruthlessly represses the residents of Lemuria and couldn't care less about them, while Aurora is a kind and compassionate person who [[HopeBringer brings hope to the repressed]] and restores Lemuria to harmony after defeating Umbra and becoming queen.
* EvilMatriarch: Her daughters are her CoDragons.
* EvilOverlord: She's a murderous despot and the BigBad.
* EvilSorceress: Among her powers are the ability to turn others into crows, wingless {{flight}}, OneHitKill magic, and transforming into a dragon.
* EvilVirtues: She's a genuinely doting parent and never treated Aurora poorly enough in Austria for her to notice her true colors until they encountered each other in Lemuria.
* ExcessiveEvilEyeshadow: She wears dark makeup around her eyes.
* {{Expy}}: All things considered, she's essentially a mash-up of [[WesternAnimation/SnowWhiteAndTheSevenDwarfs Queen Grimhilde]], [[WesternAnimation/SleepingBeauty Maleficent]], and [[WesternAnimation/{{Cinderella}} Lady Tremaine]], all three of whom she borrows various elements from.
* FurAndLoathing: Wears a purple fur coat. She even has one in her dragon form!
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: To say that she is unpopular with the common Lemurians would be an understatement. Considering her despotic rule, who can blame them?
* HighCollarOfDoom: Dear God.
* HoistByHerOwnPetard: Her killing Aurora in the game's opening is what sent Aurora's soul to Lemuria in the first place—due to the latter's mother casting a protective spell just before her death—setting a chain of events in motion that eventually led to her own defeat. However, her fatal action also led to the DeathByDespair of Aurora's father, shortly after Nox is killed.
* IgnoredEpiphany: At the Forgotten Tower, Queen Umbra is mildly taken by surprise when she tells Aurora that she (Aurora) is her enemy's daughter, only for Aurora to respond with "What has my father done?", revealing that Aurora does not know about her mother being the former Queen of Lemuria who exiled Umbra's mother years before Aurora was born. Umbra reveals her FreudianExcuse to Aurora (i.e. {{Revenge}} for her mother's exile), and then tries to use her magic to kill her anyway, ignorance be damned.
* MamaBear: She loves her true-born daughters and loses it when Aurora kills Nox.
* {{Manipulative B|astard}}itch: She doesn't directly lie and will uphold her end of a deal, but more often than not said deals are {{Sadistic Choice}}s that hurt her enemies and their loved ones no matter the options.
* MasterRace: As a descendant of the Four Explorers that founded the kingdom of Lemuria, Umbra sees humanity as this and couldn't care less for the "common folk" of Lemuria (i.e. everyone that isn't her or her daughters.)
* ObviousVillainSecretVillain: The Obvious to her youngest daughter Nox's Secret. Umbra is described as a tyrannical usurper long before Aurora finds out her identity, and sure enough she lives up to her reputation.
* ObviouslyEvil: She [[DarkIsEvil dresses in dark purple and has black hair]], [[ExcessiveEvilEyeshadow wears dark makeup around her eyes]], and is first encountered in front of a prison-tower, accompanied by the unsettling "Path of the Eclipse" music. Clearly, ''something'' is about to go wrong.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: She loses it when Aurora kills Nox in battle, leaving her all alone.
* ParentalFavoritism: Surprisingly averted. Aurora never once mentions Umbra treating her poorly on the other side, and was apparently very close to Umbra's two daughters.
* PimpedOutDress: She is (illegitimate) royalty, after all.
* {{Revenge}}: A big motivator for her. Her mother was exiled from Lemuria long before the plot begins, fuelling much of her anger and hate.
* RevengeByProxy: She takes out her desire for vengeance on behalf of her mother's exile on an innocent [[WouldHurtAChild child]] who had [[LockedOutOfTheLoop no knowledge of her mother's past]]. After she had already murdered said child's mother.
* SadisticChoice: While Aurora's father is in his last moments of life, Umbra forces Aurora to choose between returning home to her father at the cost of leaving Lemuria to its fate, or staying to protect Lemuria and watch her father [[DyingAlone die alone]]. Aurora tells her father that she has and will always love him, but chooses the latter. Her father tells her that [[YouDidTheRightThing she did the right thing]], and then he dies.
* [[SinsOfOurFathers Sins of Our Mothers]]: As if murdering Aurora's mother in the name of vengeance for exiling her own mother wasn't enough, Umbra tries to murder Aurora herself just for being the daughter of the one who exiled her mother.
* TyrantTakesTheHelm: She killed Aurora's mother two years before the events of the story, and thus was able to usurp Lemuria and become the Queen of the Night.
* UncertainDoom: She isn't explicitly seen dying after her defeat by Aurora and co., unlike her daughters. It's unsure if she died or just gave up after the fact, but given what happened to her daughters after their dragon forms were killed, it's probably the former.
* VillainHasAPoint: Before the final confrontation, Umbra mocks Aurora's mother, the Queen of Light, for willingly leaving Lemuria, therefore putting herself in danger. While the way she makes her point is inexcusably cruel, it is true that [[NiceJobBreakingItHero if Aurora's mother had remained in Lemuria, Umbra wouldn't have been able to track her down, murder her, and usurp Lemuria]][[note]]Of course, it also means that Aurora likely would have never been born[[/note]].
* WickedStepmother: To Aurora, though she never treated Aurora badly until she killed her and thus sent her to Lemuria. After that, it's played pretty straight.

----
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: Her biological father is never seen or even mentioned.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Aurora recalls her as a good and loving sister. Crepusculum tells her that she hated our heroine all along, unlike Nox, who [[VillainRespect claims to have admired her even while simultaneously rejecting any and all family promises]].
* CoDragons: With her sister, to Umbra.
* DarkIsEvil: She has dark brown hair, wears a black dress, and is a nasty person.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: She looks a little unsettling.
* EvilIsPetty: Delivers a [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech rant on all the things she hates about Aurora]] that can be summed up as "How dare you be happy!?", then [[OffingTheAnnoyance tries to kill her for said grievances]].
* FlatCharacter: Compared to Nox and Umbra, she [[WeHardlyKnewYe doesn't get much focus before her death]], so we don't learn much about her. [[{{Jerkass}} That's probably for the best.]]
* NoBodyLeftBehind: She crumbles into dust shortly after her dragon form is defeated.
* OffingTheAnnoyance: In her TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to Aurora just before her boss fight, she tells Aurora that one of the reasons why she hates her is that she finds her annoying.
* OutOfFocus: She's referenced early on, but gets much less development than Nox.
* PsychoticSmirk: She does this often.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Delivers one to Aurora, giving a long list of incredibly [[EvilIsPetty petty]] grievances.
-->"I never liked the way you smiled, or the way you chewed your food, the way you ran through the halls, your cheerful mood. You were a perfect disgrace. [[PrepareToDie And I, Crepusculum, aim to put you in your place.]]"
* TheResenter: She hates Aurora for all her good luck in life while herself, her sister and her mother were banished from Lemuria. Never mind the fact that her mother murdered Aurora's mother prior to the game's events.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: She has much less screen time than Nox and Umbra, and we don't get much of her personality before she's killed. She only has ''one line'' before you encounter her as a boss, and as a boss she has six lines.

The younger daughter of Queen Umbra, as well as the younger of Aurora's two stepsisters, who deceived her since the very beginning as Norah. Though she claims that the MagicMirror in the sky will take them home, it actually leads to the Forgotten Tower. The [[TheDragon secondary antagonist]], she is a cunning and manipulative girl. Loyal to Umbra and her older sister, Crepusculum. She is responsible for stealing the Lemurian Sun from the sky.
----
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: Her biological father is never seen or even mentioned.
* AttackAttackAttack: Her dragon form is the most aggressive of the three, not bothering with buffing or inflicting status ailments unless she (not her tentacles) is interrupted, at which point she will counter by casting "Unstoppable (All)". She's also pretty fast during the casting phase, befitting her aggression.
* AxCrazy: She tries to kill Aurora several times, and if her SlasherSmile (which she does often) is any indication, she's more than a little unhinged.
* BackhandedApology: When she apprehends Aurora at the Forgotten Tower.
-->'''Aurora:''' What are you doing!? [[IronicEcho Family first, now and forever!?]]
-->'''Norah:''' I am sorry, Aurora. We are not together.
-->'''Aurora:''' [[ThisIsGonnaSuck Sister, Norah...]]
-->'''Nox:''' ''(SlasherSmile)'' [[ILied Nox is my real name. You I admire, but you are not family.]]
* BadBoss: She's surrounded by frozen dark creatures when Aurora confronts her in the Cynbel Sea. Furthermore, she was willing to slay her mother's own army for the sake of maintaining her fake "Norah" persona.
* BadPowersBadPeople: Her {{Charm|Person}} and [[TakenForGranite Petrification]] abilities become a lot more fitting after she comes out as EvilAllAlong.
* BeautyIsBad: She's beautiful, and is a heartless manipulator with no redeeming factors.
* BeneathSuspicion: She deliberately preys on Aurora's youthful innocence by pretending to be a good and loving sister. Aurora never suspects anything [[LuredIntoATrap until it's too late]].
* BeyondRedemption: Aurora grimly [[DisownedSibling disowns Nox as her sister]] after the latter betrays her, assists her mother [[BigBad Umbra]] in trying to kill her, and then imprisons her friends in the Forgotten Tower with the intention of leaving them to die, [[LackOfEmpathy all without a trace of remorse for what she's done]]. The next and last time Aurora and Nox encounter each other, the two are purely enemies and fight to the death.
* BigBadFriend: [[TheDragon Not quite]] the BigBad, but otherwise stays true to the spirit of the trope.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: She acts nice to Aurora and most of the other party members, but when she takes her little stepsister on a "[[LuredIntoATrap detour]]" to the Forgotten Tower, she's revealed to be pure evil.
* BrokenPedestal: To say that Aurora does not take her betrayal as Norah well would be a major understatement; [[BreakTheCutie the poor little girl is completely devastated]], and if not for [[SpannerInTheWorks Óengus]]' GetAHoldOfYourselfMan speech would have given up in despair, and Queen Umbra would have arguably won.
* [[ChekhovsGunman Chekhov's Gungirl]]: She's briefly and anonymously mentioned near the end of Chapter 2, but Aurora doesn't find out who she is until the end of Chapter 7. Until then, the source of the Lemurians' plight is focused solely on Umbra.
* CoDragons: With her sister, to Umbra.
* CombatTentacles: Her dragon form has two of them that act as CognizantLimbs.
* ConsummateLiar: As Norah, she acts sweet to her little stepsister Aurora, makes promises of lifelong love and family, and fights alongside her as an ally. As Nox, she gleefully tells Aurora that [[ILied She Lied]] about everything, has never considered her family in the first place, and had taken her to the Forgotten Tower on purpose so she and her mother can kill her.
* CoolBigSis: Subverted. She pretends to be a good sister to Aurora.
* DefiantToTheEnd: When Aurora confronts her for the last time, she rants on how Aurora will never rule and shall join her family and the rest of Lemuria in death.
-->'''Aurora:''' Your tricks shall not halt me.
-->'''Nox:''' A ruler you will never be! This is the end of your family. Don't worry, you will rejoin their number. Our land shall be up top, yours down under.
* TheDragon: She's the secondary antagonist, and [[ScaledUp turns into a literal sea dragon during her boss battle]].
* DramaticWind: Same deal as the other princesses.
* DroppedABridgeOnHer: For all the grief she causes Aurora, her death is pretty unceremonious. While Crepusculum and Umbra get to say some LastWords, Nox dies immediately after her dragon form is defeated.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Disturbingly averted. Nox remains loyal to her mother Umbra and older sister Crepusculum to the end, but shows no sign of being upset at Crepusculum's death in battle against Aurora and doesn't even mention her once when confronted in the Cynbel Sea. This is in stark contrast with [[MamaBear Umbra's reaction]] to Nox's own defeat [[KilledOffForReal and death]].
* EvilAllAlong: She acts as a sweet, loving sister to Aurora while plotting to murder her from the start.
* EvilCounterpart: To Óengus. They are both warriors who formed false alliances with the opposite side during the Lemuria conflict. However, Óengus joined Umbra and her daughters [[TakeMeInstead out of desperation to save the lives of his clan]] after [[DespairEventHorizon falling into despair]] from he and his clan being overpowered by Umbra and her daughters in battle and doomed for death, was decidedly unhappy about betraying them, and [[TheAtoner accepted Aurora's offer to fight alongside her for a chance to regain his lost honour]]; Nox [[BitchInSheepsClothing pretended to care for Aurora to gain her trust so she could manipulate her]], had coldly planned her [[FalseFriend false bond]] with Aurora and subsequent betrayal [[EvilAllAlong from the start]], and [[LackOfEmpathy feels no remorse]] for what she's done and even takes [[{{Sadist}} sadistic]] pleasure in it. In the end, Óengus is forgiven by his brother, the Kategida Captain; Nox is considered to be BeyondRedemption and is [[KilledOffForReal killed]] in battle by Aurora and her friends.
* {{Expy}}: Several parallels can be drawn between her and the Evil One [[spoiler:a.k.a. Airy]] from ''VideoGame/BravelyDefault''; both being [[WhiteHairBlackHeart white-haired]] girls who [[BitchInSheepsClothing are not nearly as nice as they seem to be]], are {{More Despicable Minion}}s enforcing a greater evil's will, are fought near the end of their respective games, and [[OneWingedAngel transform into monstrous forms]] to fight the heroes.
* FalseFriend: She forms a close bond with Aurora, but later betrays her and reveals she never genuinely cared about her and it was all for her own benefit, devastating Aurora.
* FanDisservice: She's a beautiful young girl whose dress leaves her shoulders exposed, but it's offset by her cruel, manipulative personality that makes her more frightening than anything.
* FauxAffablyEvil: While the game doesn't have any voice-acting other than the narrator, one gets the impression that Nox is this, mixing [[StealthInsult backhanded compliments]] with more obvious mocking towards Aurora even after TheReveal.
-->'''Nox:''' Oh my stars, Aurora, look at you. Such fair skin and hair that shines. A shame such a foul bloodline gave birth to locks so fine. A princess would never dirty her dress cavorting with insects and common folk.\
'''Aurora:''' How dare you insult my friends.\
'''Nox:''' What are you, some kind of joke?\
'''Aurora:''' A double-crosser like you wears mud as her cloak.
* {{Foil}}: To Aurora. Both are young princesses with connections to a MagicalLand. While Aurora is a genuine NiceGirl, Nox ''pretends'' to be one, but "Norah" is a fake personality, and she's actually pure evil.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: There are a few warning signs that she is not nearly as nice as she initially appears to be:
** A meta example: The game is a FairyTale and takes inspiration from classic fairy tales. Stepfamilies in fairy tales aren't exactly known for being good people[[note]]Creator/TheBrothersGrimm, who collected a large amount of traditional folk tales, found the idea of [[AbusiveParents cruel biological mothers]] deeply disturbing, so they made edits to change them to stepmothers [[ValuesDissonance which was seen as more acceptable]][[/note]].
** Her name tag and dialogue are [[ColorCodedSpeech color-coded]] [[WhiteHairBlackHeart black]], in a game with heavy LightDarknessJuxtaposition.
** Closer inspection of her dialogue reveals the cold haughtiness peeking through the cracks in her façade. Nearly every "nice" thing said to the other party members is either a [[StealthInsult backhanded compliment]] or subtly patronizing in an [[RichBitch aristocratic]] way, from calling Finn a funny "garden dwarf" to talking about Igniculus like he's a thing for decoration.
** In one of her post-battle dialogues, she also dismisses Lemuria as a dismal CrapsackWorld unbefitting of [[RoyalBrat royalty]] like Aurora and herself.
** Her statement that the pair of magic rings she wears—the source of her powers—were given to her by the Lady of the Forest is suspicious, given that the MagicMirror she guides Aurora to is in the complete opposite direction of the Mahthildis Forest. It is most likely she either was given them by her mother, or created them herself.
** The most unsubtle one is her [[FantasticRacism utter disgust at Robert and his species]], which contrasts sharply with the open and accepting attitudes of the rest of the party. She even goes so far as to once threaten to ''kill'' Robert if he comes anywhere near her, which is as big a giveaway of her true nature as any.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: During the fight against her dragon form, the main body is very slow... until she reaches the casting phase, where she suddenly becomes ''very'' fast. This can potentially catch her opponents off-guard, and fits her cunning, deceitful personality. Her CognizantLimbs are also like this, but to a lesser extent.
* [[TheManBehindTheMan The Girl Behind the Man]]: It is heavily implied that the Ogre that guards the entrance to the Cynbel Sea and ate the rest of Genovefa's kind--including her parents--is working for her, since she is found inside the Temple of the Sun within the Cynbel Sea.
* ILied: She gleefully tells Aurora that "Norah" was a fake personality all along, [[{{Troll}} taking pleasure in mocking Aurora for her innocence]].
* InexplicablyAwesome: She either had her powers all along, or her mother empowered her. Considering she stole the Sun from the sky prior to the game's events, it's probably the former.
* ItsAllAboutMe: In contrast to her mother, whose antipathy towards Aurora is motivated by resentment for the latter's mother [[TheExile exiling]] her own mother as punishment for her actions in the Lemuria Civil War (including [[FinalSolution reducing the Mahthildis and Rambert family lines to extinction]]) and desire to ensure the success of her own family line for future generations, Nox appears to be primarily motivated by her own sense of superiority (her mother also feels superior to others, but it's one of several reasons for her tyranny). She doesn't seem to be bothered by her grandmother's exile except in regard to how the exile affects herself. She doesn't even appear to care about her own blood family on any deeper level than sharing their ideas of power and hierarchical superiority, not once mentioning her sister Crepusculum during her standoff with Aurora in the Cynbel Sea, after Crepusculum was killed in battle by Aurora.
* LackOfEmpathy:
** She feels no remorse for the pain she causes Aurora by pretending to be a loving sister and eventually [[LuredIntoATrap luring her into a trap]] in an attempt to kill her; on the contrary, she [[{{Troll}} takes pleasure in mocking Aurora for believing her lies]].
** She shows a disturbing lack of concern for the fate of Crepusculum, her biological sister after seeing Aurora empowered by the moon.
* LightIsNotGood: She has white hair, wears a white dress, and is a sociopathic bitch who doesn't care about anybody unless she can use them for her own purposes.
* MakingASplash: Her dragon form mainly uses water-elemental attacks.
* {{Manipulative B|astard}}itch: She had been manipulating Aurora and her friends since the beginning, crafting an entire fake personality to avoid suspicion.
* MaskOfSanity: She doesn't seem to fit the classic "evil stepsister" trope since she's friendly and supportive at first, but when she leads Aurora through the wrong magic mirror to the Forgotten Tower, she quickly drops the act and reveals just how insane she is. She had been planning to murder Aurora since the beginning for the sake of keeping Lemuria under her and her family's control.
* TheMole: She was on her mother's side the whole time, tricking Aurora into getting in the wrong MagicMirror to lead her to the Forgotten Tower.
* MoreDespicableMinion: While Umbra is far from likable, she is shown to [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes love her biological daughters]] and [[AlasPoorVillain somberly admits after her defeat that she wanted a home]]. Her youngest daughter Nox, on the other hand, is not portrayed in an even remotely redeeming or sympathetic light and is a strong candidate for the most despicable antagonist in the game, with her betrayal as Norah after [[EvilAllAlong pretending to be a good sister]] to Aurora (and [[{{Sadist}} taking pleasure in the pain she inflicts]] on Aurora from said betrayal) standing out as particularly cruel and [[ItsPersonal personal]], compounded further by the implication that she is behind the Ogre that eats the rest of Gen's kind, leaving her the [[LastOfHerKind sole survivor]][[labelnote:How?]]The Ogre explicitly tells Aurora, "I '''guard''' the door", and who's waiting at the end of the Temple of the Sun the Ogre is guarding? Nox[[/labelnote]].
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: While Aurora is locked up in the Forgotten Tower as a result of Nox betraying her and leading her to Queen Umbra, Nox captures and imprisons all of Aurora's friends in cages in a separate cell in the tower to leave for death... whereupon she—for no good reason—neglects to lock the door or place a guard in front of it. After all, Aurora is locked away, Óengus is working for her in a TakeMeInstead deal, a mechanical construction blocks access to the lower floors and exit, and all other Kategida are imprisoned in a magical labyrinth within the tower; so WhatCouldPossiblyGoWrong Cue Óengus learning that Aurora is the late Queen of Light's daughter and becoming TheAtoner, leading to the two finding Aurora's imprisoned friends and setting them all free. After successfully pulling off a cunning manipulation plot, Nox grabs the IdiotBall with her security negligence.
* NiceToTheWaiter: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]]; she shows a huge amount of disgust towards the Bolmus Populi.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: She crumbles into dust shortly after her dragon form is defeated.
* ObviousVillainSecretVillain: The Secret to her mother Umbra's Obvious. Nox avoids suspicion by using a fake name and personality to manipulate her little stepsister Aurora into loving and trusting her. Once she leads Aurora through the wrong MagicMirror to the Forgotten Tower where Umbra awaits, Nox gleefully reveals TheSociopath that hides BeneathTheMask.
* ObviouslyEvil: Averted initially, but definitely played straight after she tricks Aurora into entering the tampered MagicMirror to the Forgotten Tower. Her eyes turn [[RedEyesTakeWarning red]], and her default expression becomes an [[SlasherSmile unhinged smile]] that makes her look downright disturbing and leaves no room for doubt as to what a twisted monster she really is.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: After betraying Aurora, Nox's [[EyeColorChange eyes change color]] from brown to a dull red.
* {{Sadist}}: This is ultimately the reason why she is BeyondRedemption. She's sickeningly cruel, taking pleasure in the pain she inflicts upon Aurora after betraying her. Her SlasherSmile says it all!
* SlasherSmile: She does this often, especially right before transforming.
* SoLongAndThanksForAllTheGear
* TheSociopath:
** She has an outwardly charming personality [[BitchInSheepsClothing so as to conceal her true self and manipulate others]], is [[ConsummateLiar a frequent and convincing liar]], and has [[ItsAllAboutMe a sense of superiority]] as well as [[LackOfEmpathy no empathy]].
** While she remains loyal to her mother Umbra and sister Crepusculum to the end, she isn't shown to feel any genuine affection for them, her own blood family. In particular, when Aurora confronts her in the Cynbel Sea, Nox briefly notes that Aurora has grown from the power of the moon, then proceeds to taunt her for befriending the "insect" lower classes while appearing completely unconcerned by Crepusculum's death, to the extent that she doesn't even mention her once. For all the horrible things that Umbra does during the course of the game, she does have a somewhat understandable (albeit far from justifiable) motivation for her crimes and [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes is shown to genuinely love her true-born daughters]], whereas Nox prioritises her and her family's supposed "hierarchical superiority" above all else, even familial love.
* {{Troll}}: After betraying Aurora, Nox takes pleasure in mocking Aurora for her innocence and for her choice in friends. In the final stages of the game, Nox sets up a trap in the Temple of the Sun filled with poison gas and states that Aurora will join her deceased family members down under.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: Downplayed as she isn't a child, but Nox is still explicitly described as the younger of her mother's two daughters and seems to be in her early- to mid-teens, only a few years older than Aurora. While her sense of superiority can be passed off as a fairly normal phase for someone her age[[note]]And let's face it -- if someone is a royal with supernatural powers, why wouldn't they have one?[[/note]], taking pleasure in engaging in psychological abuse, attempted murder, torture and implied genocide are giveaways that there is something ''very'' wrong with her.
* VillainHasAPoint: She's a manipulative liar, but ironically, Nox is right when she tells Aurora there are some people out there in the world who [[{{Jerkass}} have no obligation for kindness or compassion]], and that [[BeyondRedemption trying to get through to them is futile]]. Mere moments later, she really hammers her point home in the most horrible way possible. Given her own personality, her HardTruthAesop is ironically the most honest thing she says during the entire story.
* VillainRespect: Even after TheReveal, Nox claims to admire Aurora as an individual, but makes it clear she has never considered her family. It's most likely any admiration Nox may feel for Aurora comes strictly from a combat context, and said admiration doesn't even come close to mitigating her heartless deceit and betrayal.
* WasItAllALie: Aurora has this reaction to her betrayal. Nox claims to have admired Aurora even after TheReveal, if only for her fighting spirit.
-->'''Aurora:''' [[IronicEcho Family first, now and forever!?]]
-->'''Norah:''' [[BackhandedApology I am sorry, Aurora.]]
-->'''Norah:''' [[BackhandedApology We are not together.]]
* WarriorPrincess: She's Queen Umbra's daughter, after all.
* WhiteAndRedAndEerieAllOver: She has white hair, wears a white dress, has [[RedEyesTakeWarning red eyes]], and is a dangerous [[TheSociopath sociopath]].
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: She has long, white hair, and is a thoroughly depraved girl.
* YoungestChildWins: '''[[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]'''. She's the younger daughter of Aurora's stepmother and comes across as a caring, protective older sibling to Aurora. [[EvilAllAlong She tricks Aurora into entering the tampered magic mirror to take her to a prison tower, where she's revealed to be as far away from caring or protective as possible.]]

* OnlyOneName: They all have this, but Mahthildis and Rambert aren't even distinguished by epithets.
* OutOfFocus: While they are all more setdressing than characters, Rambert and Mahthildis are given the least focus, while [[spoiler:Cynbel and Erin are distant ancestors of the villain and hero respectively]].
* PosthumousCharacter: They all died long before the plot begins.
