[[caption-width-right:350: Image courtesy of [[https://www.deviantart.com/rainbowponypotato/art/Lightning-Blitz-from-Flash-Sentry-Chronicles-893872515 RainbowPotatoPony.]]]]
Grand Hoof’s grandson and ally to the Royal Knights.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: Was originally one for Rarity. He flirted with her when they first met only because he liked her for her beauty, but she rejected his advances on her due to his rude behavior and finding his fashion sense disgusting. Subverted when Rarity starts to warm up to him after he changes his ways and moves to Ponyville, with the two of them forming a close friendship.
* ActOfTrueLove: [[spoiler:During Rarity's depression over her ruined mane in "It Isn't the Mane Thing About You", she is afraid that if Lightning sees her he will break up with her due to not wanting to be seen with her like that. When Lightning finally realizes what she has been doing he assures Rarity that he's not going to break up with her and throw away all they have been through together just because of how she looks, accidentally [[LoveConfession confessing his love for her in the process]]. When Rarity allows him to see her mane, he is shocked by it at first (the same as everyone else who sees it) but quickly proves his feelings to Rarity by [[ShutUpKiss silencing her with a deep kiss on the lips]] before telling her she's still beautiful to him. This might even count as a TrueLovesKiss, despite not having any magical properties to it.]]
* AntagonisticOffspring: He plays a variant of this with his grandfather Grand Hoof originally. He sees him as an old fool for making a nobody like Flash Sentry his apprentice instead of him, and also resenting him for what happened to the rest of his family due to what he saw as his neglect. He eventually gets over this attitude after he is defeated by Flash and Iron, and the Alicorn Amulet is destroyed, and he seeks to [[TheAtoner atone to Grand]] for his attitude. He ends up playing this completely straight to his father Doom Raizer, siding with the Knights against him.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion:
** He gave this one to Spike when he refuses to give up on Rarity by asking him if he would like Rainbow, Applejack, and Pinkie in a romantic way if they ever develop feelings toward him, or if they suddenly behaved just like Rarity.
** He gives one to Rarity after he [[spoiler:accidentally tells her that he loves her]] while comforting her over her ruined mane, asking her if [[spoiler:she loves ''him'' enough to trust him]]. After a moment of silence from Rarity, she simply leans her head forward to allow Lightning to lower her hood himself.
* BadassInDistress:
** He was one of the victims the Changelings captured and took the their Hive in "To Where and Back Again".
** He ends up being captured by Malafear, along with Spike and Iron Core, at the end of "The Assault of Ponyville".
* TheBet: He makes a bet with Rarity in "The Ultimate Ponyville Diet", on whether she can make it through an entire week of exercise without quitting. The loser needs to do whatever the winner wants for an entire day without complaints. Lightning loses and [[spoiler:is forced to ask Rarity out on a date]].
* BigDamnHeroes: He makes his return during the Doom Raizer arc in season 3. Assisting the Royal Knights from the shadows until he makes his presence known, stopping his father Doom Raizer from killing Flash.
* ABirthdayNotABreak: He celebrates his birthday in "Birthday Battle Blitz", but things quickly go bad when Trial-G attacks the town, which results in [[spoiler:the near death of his grandpa]].
* BondingOverMissingParents: He ends up connecting with Big Mac, who lost both his parents years ago, since he lost his mom at about the same age.
* BrutalHonesty: He gives it to Rarity straight that it is ''her'' fault Spike is so heartbroken over her already being in a relationship, saying that although she never actively encouraged his crush on her she didn't do anything to stop it either, to the point where she seemed to lead him on just to take advantage of his crush for her benefit.
* TheBully: He bullied Flash for years out of jealousy that a street rat like him was made Grand Hoof’s apprentice instead of him.
* BullyTurnedBuddy: He was a bully to Flash for years out of jealousy for Flash being picked as Grand’s apprentice, and this attitude extended to anyone Flash was friends with. After his HeelFaceTurn, Lightning becomes a close ally to Flash, seeking to make up for his attitude towards him.
* CallingTheOldManOut:
** He does this to his grandfather at first, for how badly he treated his father, Doom Raizer, and because of how he chose Flash Sentry to be his apprentice instead of him.
** He then gives one to his father, during his BigDamnHeroes moment, after he had a HeelRealization about his actions at the Battle of Canterlot.
* CallingYourAttacks: Similar to the Royal Knights, he shouts several attack names.
* TheCasanova: {{Implied}}. He claims that he has been on his fair share of dates in the past with several Canterlot mares. None of these were shown, but it is likely he treated them similarly to how he treated Rarity when he first met her, offering a one night stand with them before moving on to the next attractive mare he found.
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: The BadFuture where Chrysalis wins mentions that he died protecting his friends.
* DoubleEntendre: When he first meets Rarity he asks her out by telling her they should go "make some sweet music" away from the others. Rarity immediately turns him down.
* DrivenByEnvy: The whole reason why he bullied Flash was because he felt that he stole something that should have been his. i.e. Being Grand Hoof’s apprentice, and the Celestic Gear that his mother created.
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** Even before his HeelFaceTurn, he was appalled by his plan to hold Canterlot hostage and try to destroy it under the influence of the Alicorn Amulet.
** He finds it creepy when he learns Spike was stalking him.
* {{Expy}}: He is based on [[Manga/FairyTail Laxus]].
* FirstKiss: [[spoiler:Downplayed; he and Rarity share their first on-screen kiss together in "Set Me on Fire". Though Rarity had already kissed him on the cheek a few times before, and the two of them had already been dating for awhile before then, even at one point "expressing themselves" to each other in what is implied to have been the middle of sex, so it is likely the two of them had already kissed off-screen.]]
* ForgivenButNotForgotten: Once he returns, he works hard to earn everyone's forgiveness for what he did. While Flash and his group of friends come around to him quickly, most citizens take much longer to win over. At the end of his probation period, he proves to have fully redeemed himself by saving Canterlot from a group of criminals planning to destroy it. However, he continues to face punishment for his previous actions by being ordered to work with the Defenders and Royal Knights as "community service". This allows him to protect Equestria like he always wanted to, but he will never officially become a knight himself.
* GracefulLoser: After he loses a bet against Rarity, he accepts his loss without trying to worm out of what he owes Rarity or try to run away, and sincerely apologizes for starting the bet with her in the first place.
* HeelFaceTurn: After Flash defeats him in the Battle of Canterlot and destroys the Alicorn Amulet, Lightning changes his ways to seek redemption for his action.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Solid Script. He's been friends with him far longer than he has with Gorgenia and Wild Smile.
* HonoraryTrueCompanion: After his reformation he becomes the newest Defender of Ponyville along with Flash, Springer, and Iron. He now acts as an ally to the Royal Knights, but is not an official knight himself. His help is categorized as "community service" to make up for his past crimes, essentially giving him the responsibilities of an apprentice knight but none of the perks or bonuses that come with it and zero chance of being promoted.
* IHatePastMe: After he returns and officially joins the Defenders, he expresses disgust with the way he acted in the past whenever it is mentioned. This includes bullying Flash, his disrespect to Grand Hoof and the princesses, trying to take control of Equestria himself, and his sleazy attitude and harassment toward mares like Rarity.
* TheILoveYouStigma: [[spoiler:He accidentally tells Rarity he loves her when comforting her over her ruined mane and assuring her he fell in love with her because of her kindness, generosity, heroic actions, and willingness to forgive him for his past. When Rarity asks if he really loves her, he momentarily flinches, finally realizing what he said, but realizes that he meant it and nods to her in confirmation.]]
* {{Irony}}: [[spoiler:He asks Rarity out on a date when they first met, but is turned down by her due to his rude behavior towards her and her friends while trying to flirt with her. But later, ''she'' is the one that takes the initiative in their relationship by forcing him to ask her out again when he loses a bet against her, and constantly teases him during it with seductive glances and gestures.]]
* LadyKillerInLove: Downplayed; he was a casanova before his HeelFaceTurn, stating that he dated plenty of mares in Canterlot before, and was briefly seen asking Rarity out on a date after getting a good look at her. He loses his womanizing ways once he returns, and is much less of a slime ball, but he still eventually starts a stable and healthy relationship with [[spoiler:Rarity]].
* LoveTriangle: He is also interested in winning Rarity’s affections just like Spike is, but Spike [[LockedOutOfTheLoop has no idea]] Lightning is giving him competition. [[spoiler:Lightning ends up as the one Rarity chooses as of "The Ultimate Ponyville Diet".]]
* NiceGuy: After his HeelFaceTurn. He's lost all of his envy to Flash Sentry and is genuinely dedicated to protecting others to atone for his previous crimes.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:With Rarity.]]
* PervertedDrooling: His reaction to seeing Rarity's punk look in "It Isn't the Mane Thing About You".
* ReformedButRejected: When he eventually makes his return, he finds that most citizens aren't willing to forgive him immediately for what he did during the Battle of Canterlot. Most of Flash's friends are shocked to see him again and only give him a chance when Flash vouches for him, and many other citizens are outright scared of him for what he did. He starts fixing his image early in season 4, making friends with a few ponies like Big Mac and Rarity. Though the citizens of Canterlot are initially still upset at him a year after the battle, he finally fully earns forgiveness when he and his friends save the city from another group of criminals planning to destroy it.
* SecretRelationship: Zig-zagged with [[spoiler:Rarity]]. They have been going out together for months together, just to see what happens with each other, but kept it a secret from everyone just in case things didn't work out. They discovered they have a lot in common and "only recently" became an OfficialCouple together before the events of "Spike's Heartbreak". They are forced to come clean to everyone sooner then they planned to when Spike barges in on them together.
* ShipTease: He is given a few moments with Rarity. Originally only flirting with her due to finding her the most attractive of her group of friends, he eventually comes to respect her once he moves to Ponyville and they are shown interacting several times. She even visits him after he helps save Canterlot from some criminals and happily kisses his cheek to thank him for saving everyone. During Heartswarming, they're seen together again to do some shopping, in which Lightning gets noticeably flustered when Wild Smile confronts them about this. [[spoiler:They are confirmed to be an OfficialCouple as of "Spike's Heartbreak", with them explaining they have secretly been going out on dates ever since "The Ultimate Ponyville Diet" and have discovered they have a lot in common.]]
* ShockAndAwe: He specializes in lightning magic.
* ShutUpKiss: On the giving end to [[spoiler:Rarity. After he finally sees Rarity's ruined mane himself and she begins to say she looks terrible and knew he was going to break up with her over it, Lightning silences her mid-sentence with a kiss on the lips, which she quickly returns. After they finish making out for a few minutes, Lightning tells her she always looks beautiful to him]].
* TravelToProjectile: He has a spell that lets him teleport himself to any of throwing knives. He mostly uses it in combat to teleport himself around the battlefield, but he has also been able to implement it as an AnchoredTeleportation, being able to teleport himself and anyone holding onto him vast distances to one of his knives he left at a previous location, like his home in Ponyville or Rarity's boutique.
* UnknownRival: He is one for Spike. They have both shown interest in Rarity and have formed close friendships with her, but Spike has no idea that Lightning is interested in winning her heart the same way he is. [[spoiler:Thus, Spike is kept LockedOutOfTheLoop when Rarity chooses Lightning Blitz and the two go out on a date together.]]
* WhatTheHellHero:
** Minor example; he warns Rarity that it isn't a good idea to lead Spike on the way she does, using his crush on her through flirting and seductive glances to get him to do stuff for her. Rarity acknowledges he is right but simply says desperate times call for desperate measures.
** He does it again on Rarity in "Spike’s Heartbreak", and tells her that its ''her'' fault for [[TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity taking advantage of Spike]], which lead to him finding out [[MomentKiller the hard way]] that Rarity and him were dating.
** He also gives one to Spike after he finds out that he hasn’t given up on Rarity, when he tries to go after the remaining four pukwudgies who fled to Everfree Forest to try to impress her.

[[caption-width-right:350: Image courtesy of [[https://www.deviantart.com/rainbowponypotato/art/Solid-Script-from-Flash-Sentry-chronicles-920464059 RainbowPotatoPony.]]]]
Lightning Blitz's longest and most loyal friend.
----
* AwesomeByAnalysis: During his fight with Shift, he manages to quickly analyze how Shift's density shifting powers work and the {{logical weakness}}es that come along with them and quickly comes up with a strategy to beat him.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The whole reason why he became friends with Lightning Blitz, was because he protected him from some bullies who were making fun of him for his rune magic.
* {{Expy}}: He is based on [[Manga/FairyTail Freed]].
* FakingTheDead: [[spoiler:After he and the rest of Lightning's friends go through the process of removing the Phantom Magic from themselves to create a Celestic Gear for Lightning, he, Wild, and Gorgenia tell Grand to lie to Lightning and tell him they didn't survive the process, in order to motivate him to win so their "sacrifice" wasn't in vain. He's pissed at them when he finds out.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Lightning Blitz. They've been friends far longer than they have been with Wild Smile and Gorgenia. It would explain why he's the most openly vocal against Grand Hoof, considering Lightning's past with him.
* JerkassToOne: He is a pretty loyal friend to Lightning and the rest of their group, but he holds a major grudge against Grand for what happened to Lightning. Though his main source anger is always targeted at Grand it can also make him cold to those who are close to Grand, like Flash, at least until they help him out and earn his respect. His anger at Grand eventually dies down too, to the point where everyone is shocked in "Lightning's Fate" when he tells Grand it ''wasn't'' his fault that he missed a few Cutie Markers from years ago. Unfortunately, his anger at Grand still remained in "Following the Grand Script", when even after Grand tried to make amends, Solid refused to forgive him all because he didn’t want him and Lightning to be friends due to him being a rune magic user.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He keeps his {{Jerkass}} trait longer than anyone else in Lightning's gang, including Lightning himself. After Lightning's exile from Canterlot, he continues to hold a grudge against Grand for what happened to him, and talks down to him whenever he is mentioned. However, he still had a genuine friendship with Lightning and eventually, his grudge against Grand began to die down later on, as best shown in "A Wild Wild Heartswarming" that shows them pulling on crackers together in a friendly manner, with both seemingly dropping any animosity between each other.
* NoSympathyForGrudgeholders: Fire Heart calls him out on holding a grudge against Grand years after Grand wronged him by trying to stop him and Lightning from being friends due to personal reasons, even when he tried to make amends, saying he is nothing but a brat.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Despite his animosity toward Grand seemingly dropping, he was even more of a jerkass toward Grand in "Following the Grand Script". Not only refusing to interact with Grand despite talking with him in the past, but he didn't want to partner with him in volleyball games and stormed off when they lost to Time Turner and Derpy.
* TokenEvilTeammate: He is easily the rudest member of Lightning Blitz's inner circle of friends, and possibly the rudest of all the supporting characters. He holds on to grudges for years, refusing to make amends with who he feels has wronged him and just comes off as a brat to everyone. Years after Grand tried to stop him and Lightning from being friends, he refuses to forgive Grand even when Grand ''tries'' to make amends with him. Even Lightning Blitz, who was a former villain himself who also hated Grand once, feels Script has taken his grudge way too far.
* TranslatorMicrobes: He has a spell that can translate just about any written text in existence. However, in ''The Knight of Friendship'', the spell fails to work on translating some runes that Trail Blazer and Misty Veil had written down from a temple that they discovered.

[[folder:Wild Smile]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/desbczn_f3a8d329_9fe4_4f5c_8c10_5e335b18906d.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350: Image courtesy of [[https://www.deviantart.com/rainbowponypotato/art/Wild-Smile-from-Flash-Sentry-Chronicles-894085763 RainbowPotatoPony.]]]]
A friend of Lightning Blitz, who works as a puppeteer.
----
* AffablyEvil: When brainwashed by Lightning Blitz, he still maintains a chipper attitude towards his opponents or at least moreso than his companions.
* BerserkButton: Not for Wild himself, but the puppets he carries everywhere with him. They get angry if anyone questions if they are actually alive, as seen when they shout at Limestone Pie for questioning if they are alive or not.
* ChivalrousPervert: He offers Lightning Blitz an opportunity to flirt with some mares and he does some playful flirting with Pinkie Pie during their first fight. This trait gets dropped after he starts a relationship with Pinkie Pie, in which he's remained faithful to her.
* {{Expy}}: He is based on [[Manga/FairyTail Bickslow]].
* FakingTheDead: [[spoiler:After he and the rest of Lightning's friends go through the process of removing the Phantom Magic from themselves to create a Celestic Gear for Lightning, he, Solid, and Gorgenia tell Grand to lie to Lightning and tell him they didn't survive the process, in order to motivate him to win so their "sacrifice" wasn't in vain. He's pissed at them when he finds out.]]
* FriendToAllChildren: He showed that he is really good with children, when he used his puppets to entertain Pumpkin and Pound Cake.
* FriendlyEnemy: He is pretty friendly with [[ShipTease Pinkie Pie]], even as he attacks her at the Battle of Canterlot. The 'Enemy' part is dropped entirely afterwards.
* FirstKiss: He and Pinkie Pie share their first on-screen one together at the end of ''Our Town''. Though Pinkie had kissed him on the cheek multiple times before, and since they had been a couple for sometime by then it is possible they had some off-screen.
* GreenEyedMonster: He is extremely jealous of Cheese Sandwich when he arrives in Ponyville, and learns that he became a Party Pony because of Pinkie. This is mainly driven by his fear that the two of them will become a couple.
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler:The ending of "A Wild Family Vacation" has him finally marrying Pinkie Pie.]]
* HowDadMetMom: He is actually terrified of this idea, since if he and Pinkie ever get married and have kids they'll eventually ask how they met and he'll need to explain he attacked Pinkie at the Battle of Canterlot while trying to help their EvilUncle take over Equestria.
* InterspeciesRomance: Wild Smile, a unicorn, eventually starts a relationship with Pinkie Pie, an earth pony.
* LawOfInverseFertility: [[spoiler:In ''Lightning Siege'' he admits to his friends that he and Pinkie Pie are trying to have a baby together. The final scene of the story, taking place years later, has Lightning Blitz explain to his daughter Topaz that he and Pinkie were having trouble making a foal and had some tests done, revealing that Wild had "issues" that made it hard for him to make a foal of his own. So he and Pinkie asked a friend, implied to be Cheese Sandwich, for help as a donor, thus letting Pinkie have Lil Cheese. However, it isn't ''impossible'' for Wild to made his own foals, just harder, and he and Pinkie eventually has another kid, Laugh Track, all on their own as a happy surprise later.]]
* MeetTheInLaws: He meets Pinkie Pie's parents and her other two sisters, Limestone and Marble, in "A Wild Wild Heartswarming". He hopes to make a good impression with them all so they will accept his and Pinkie's relationship, and ends up bonding with all of them.
* NiceGuy: He's nothing but affable, even prior to his brainwashing by Lightning Blitz. He was far less abrasive than Solid Script and wasn't as envious as Lightning Blitz and Gorgenia.
* OfficialCouple: Eventually becomes on with Pinkie Pie at the end of "Pinkie Pride". [[spoiler:They eventually get married at the end of "A Wild Family Vacation".]]
* OnlySaneByComparison: Wild Smile has a bit of an unusual side, most prominently shown with his magic creating his puppet friends. Ever since he started dating Pinkie Pie though, he has ended up becoming TheStraightMan and voice of reason in their relationship, simply because [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Pinkie is so random and silly]] that it makes even Wild look normal in comparison. Funny enough, Wild actually realizes this himself and comments he's not sure he's entirely comfortable with it himself, even questioning during "The Maud Couple" how he somehow became the OnlySaneMan in the group during the whole fiasco.
-->'''Wild Smile:''' For once, can't I be the insane one in this relationship?!
* RightForTheWrongReasons: In "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows" he sees how [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness strange Pinkie has been acting]] and realizes she is keeping a secret that involves a baby somehow. He incorrectly assumes though that [[MistakenForPregnant Pinkie is pregnant]] and he is the father of their "unborn foal". He is relieved when he discovers Cadance is the one who is actually pregnant, though embarrassed to admit the misunderstanding to Pinkie.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gorgenia]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/df2yakx_d95bc84d_fe29_4e51_9570_296cbb1a0923.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350: Image courtesy of [[https://www.deviantart.com/rainbowponypotato/art/Georgenia-911951889 RainbowPotatoPony.]]]]
Another friend of Lightning Blitz who works as a sculptor in gardens.
----
* EveryoneHasStandards: She may have been envious of Cadance's beauty, but even she thinks Lightning Blitz's plan to hold Canterlot hostage goes too far and she only went along with it because she was brainwashed by him.
* {{Expy}}: She is based on [[Manga/FairyTail Evergreen]].
* FakingTheDead: [[spoiler:After she and the rest of Lightning's friends go through the process of removing the Phantom Magic from themselves to create a Celestic Gear for Lightning, she, Solid, and Wild tell Grand to lie to Lightning and tell him they didn't survive the process, in order to motivate him to win so their "sacrifice" wasn't in vain. He's pissed at them when he finds out.]]
* GreenEyedMonster: Every pony would compare her statues' beauty unfavorably to Princess Cadance, which made it difficult to maintain her business. As a result, she grew envious of Cadance, though this trait gets dropped after her HeelFaceTurn.
* HeelFaceTurn: Undergoes this after she's been freed from Lightning Blitz's brainwashing in season 1. She buries the hatchet with Princess Cadance and now works as a garderner.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She was this before her HeelFaceTurn. At worst, she was a GreenEyedMonster to Cadance, but she was still relatively harmless and did have a genuine friendship with Lightning Blitz and his group. [[EveryoneHasStandards She was also moritfied about Lightning's plan to hold Canterlot hostage after she was freed from his brainwashing]]. Eventually, she drops the "jerk" part after burying the hatchet with Cadance and becomes a straight NiceGirl.
* OutOfFocus: She's the least prominent out of Lightning's gang with no chapters dedicated to her compared to Wild Smile and Solid Script.
* TakenForGranite: She has a forbidden spell that lets her turn others into stone. However, it works best when she knows what species the victim was when she uses it, such as when she used it on Cadance, the spell began to fall apart, because she wasn’t born an alicorn.
* TokenFemale: The only female member among Lightning Blitz's friends.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Discord]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0065c4af_28bf_42d8_acf4_acfb44063830.png]]
A draconequus with chaos powers who becomes loyal, if occasionally nominal, allies with Flash Sentry and his friends.
----
* BreakingTheFourthWall:
** When he finally arrives in "Fluttershy's Marvellous Medicine", he requests a TimeSkip before everything that happened is explained to him so they don't "bore the audience".
** When he hears that Rogue will be coming to Spike and Big Mac's guys' night in "Dungeons & Discord", he comments "the newest character of Banshee's story is joining in".
* ChekhovsGun: He randomly mentions that Flash has the rare triple Z blood type when the two are battling. Later in season 2, Flash remembers this when he realizes he and Scootaloo share the same blood type, meaning he can donate his blood to her in a transfusion. Flash later thanks Discord for this when he is released, saying that it saved Scootaloo.
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: [[spoiler:Evil Flash kills Discord's counterpart in his universe, in which he destroyed his statue while he was still imprisoned.]]
* FreudianExcuse: Flash reasons that Discord acted the way he did in the past, and pulls so many pranks on everyone in the Present, is because he thinks nopony wanted to be near him before and he just wanted some attention, and didn't care if it was only through anger and fear.
* HiddenDepths: He reveals in ''The Knight of Friendship'' to [[spoiler:have some knowledge on the Sacred Light, saying it has been part of his species' culture since [[YinYangBomb he was born from a union of two creatures, one from the Sacred Light and another from the Corrupted Shadow]]]]. He never mentioned it sooner because [[spoiler:he didn't know that Flash had a connection to the Sacred Light previously]].
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Flash realizes that he and Discord have more in common than he realized at first. They both were ignored by everyone in the past due to being different from others, and as revealed in ''The Knight of Friendship'' [[spoiler:they both have a connection to the Sacred Light, though in different ways]].
* PassThePopcorn: He eats a tub of popcorn (and parts of the tub itself) while watching Flash and Cold's rematch. When he is called out on this, he says that he is a nervous eater and doesn't want Flash to lose again.
* SecretSecretKeeper: [[spoiler:His brief appearance in "Flash's Destiny" has him confirm to Flash he knows why magic all around the world is out of whack, including his own, because Faust isn't around to maintain the world now, and he knows that Flash is the only one that can stop it due to containing both the Sacred Light and Corrupted Shadow, and what that means Flash needs to do.]]
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: In "Fluttershy's Marvellous Medicine" he sends Fluttershy a message that he won't be able to make it to their weekly tea party because he needs to take care of a sick Smooze. However, he didn't realize that apparently The Smooze sneezed in his message when he wasn't looking, which caused Fluttershy to get covered in slime when she received it, starting the main plot of the chapter.
* VillainousBreakdown: During his battle with Flash and Springer in ''Chaos and Disharmony'', he has a massive meltdown when Flash continues to talk down to him by [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech calling everything that he has done boring and unfunny]], even laughing at him. Discord quickly loses his cool and goes berserk.
* YinYangBomb: ''The Knight of Friendship'' reveals that [[spoiler:he came into being between a union of a lifeform created by the Sacred Light, and a lifeform created by the Corrupted Shadow]].

[[folder:Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/diamond_tiara_and_silver_spoon_by_caliazian.png]]
A pair of fillies who bully "blank flanks" like the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
----
* AdaptationalKarma: In "Ponyville Confidential," Diamond Tiara was punished by merely stripping away her title as editor-in-chief. In this series, she gets punished more harshly, being given a week of detention for every gossip article she mandated.
* AscendedExtra: Strangely, they get a dose of this and DemotedToExtra. After their canon HeelFaceTurn, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were never given a speaking role afterwards. Here, they are given a supporting role in "The Heart and Soul of Ponyville," showing how they are after their redemption.
* TheAtoner: Both are still trying to move on from their former bullying methods, in which both end up befriending Shining Soul to show that they've truly grown.
* DemotedToExtra: Both of them were major antagonists for the Cutie Mark Crusaders, but the number of chapters they appear in this series are significantly scaled down compared to the canon series.

[[folder:King Sombra]]
[[quoteright:252:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlp_resource__king_sombra_01_by_zutheskunk-_837.png]]
An Umbrum who was formerly friends with Ruby Scarlet, until he was corrupted by Rabia.
----
* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: Compared to both the show and even the comics. On top of suffering the same tragedies depicted in ComicBook/MyLittlePonyFiendshipIsMagic, his only friend, Ruby Scarlet, left the Crystal Empire to train as a Royal Knight under the Royal Sisters, leaving him neglected and considering suicide by freezing to death in the Frozen North.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: At least from the show's canon, where he had absolutely no redeeming qualities. In this fanfic series, he borrows elements from his ComicBook/MyLittlePonyFiendshipIsMagic backstory, where he UsedToBeASweetKid and had a genuine friendship with Ruby Scarlet, until he was corrupted by Rabia, his "mother." He also makes a HeelFaceTurn, even if he doesn't regret some of the crimes he committed.
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: In the show, he was initially a GenericDoomsdayVillain that spoke few words and later became a boastful LargeHam. This version of King Sombra is much more serious and has more sadistic tendencies, though he also has a DarkAndTroubledPast.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: He is the first enemy that completely overwhelms and defeats Flash, even when he had help from Ruby.
* ArchEnemy: The most personal enemy of Ruby Scarlet.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: [[spoiler:He asks Ruby if Princess Amore cared about him, then why didn’t she do anything to help him when Rabia corrupted him, or why she didn’t do anything for him when he got sick from the Crystal Festival. Ruby is unable to respond.]]
* AssimilationBackfire:
** [[spoiler:It is revealed in Evil Flash's timeline, he made his way to the North when the Crystal Empire reappeared and encountered Sombra. Sombra tried to possess his body instead of spending a few days rebuilding his own so he could conquer the Crystal Empire faster, but Flash's Sacred Light protected him, and destroyed Sombra instead. Though he did [[VillainousLegacy leave his influence on Flash regardless]].]]
** [[spoiler:In a smilier situation, Sombra reveals, after being freed from Armalum that when he originally gave Flash his scar, he secretly put a piece of his soul into Flash, planning that should he die in battle he would eventually be revived and take over Flash's body himself. However, the plan failed because Flash's friendships with Twilight and everyone else kept his soul too pure for Sombra too corrupt and take over. Also, the longer Sombra's soul stayed inside him, the longer Flash unknowingly had an influence on Sombra rather than the other way around. Thus, when he was eventually rescued and restored, he had all of his memories plus Flash's, and now felt guilty for his prior actions and wanting to atone.]]
* BeamOWar: During the climax of ''Crystal Darkness'' he gets into one with Princess Cadance. He is eventually overwhelmed when Flash and Ruby blast him from behind during the struggle, allowing Cadance to defeat him.
* BeyondRedemption: Ruby Scarlet declares him this when he reveals that he killed Princess Amore.
* TheBusCameBack: He returns in "The Quest of Redemption", having nearly completed his quest to revive Princess Amore and requesting aid to find the last piece.
* CrazyPrepared: It was revealed in ''War of the Lost City'' that [[spoiler:he somehow managed to make a backup of all his memories and put it into the scar he gave Flash during their battle. This eventually leads to him getting his memories back when Shadow Corrupter resurrects him and has Armalum use his body. After he is freed from Armalum he admits that his original plan after his death was to eventually take control of Flash's body, but this plan failed due to Flash's friendships with Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 preventing Sombra's soul from corrupting him]].
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Just like the comics, he was an orphan who was bullied in his youth, harmed by the Crystal Heart during every annual Crystal Fair, and influenced by Rabia into accepting his destiny of becoming a villain. Additionally, his only friend, Ruby Scarlet, left him to train as a Royal Knight under the Royal Sisters, neglecting him and making him more susceptible to Rabia's influence.
* DarkLordOnLifeSupport: [[spoiler:Shadow Corrupter found his horn after his death and managed to use it to bring him back to life. However, Sombra had no memories upon his resurrection, and his body is unstable and will fall apart if he is separated from Armalum for too long.]]
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: [[spoiler:As mentioned in the AssimilationBackfire entry above, King Sombra was killed in Evil Flash's timeline.]]
* DeathSeeker: {{Implied}} when Sombra [[spoiler:is caught by an Earth Golem in his last mission to recover a piece of Amore. Despite Ruby's attempts to rescue him, Sombra tells her to leave him behind, solemnly stating that he'd deserve to be torn apart for his crimes. Fortunately, Jaden intervenes and saves his life.]]
* EarnYourHappyEnding: After being corrupted and treated like a slave by Rabia [[spoiler:and later Shadow, Sombra finds some closure to his trauma after his long mission of finding every shattered piece of Amore and reviving her. Though he's punished for his past crimes with indentured servitude, he considers himself fortunate in that position and can now mend his relationship with Ruby and Amore.]]
* EvilFormerFriend: He and Ruby Scarlet used to be friends, before his FaceHeelTurn. Ruby even used to have a crush on Sombra and it's implied that the feeling was once mutual.
* FightingFromTheInside: [[spoiler:After regaining his memories he continuously fights Armalum for control over his body. Shadow Corrupter is forced to continuously use magic to keep Sombra a bay.]]
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: When he joins Flash's team in ''War of the Lost City'', he's either met with indifference or outright hostility due to his past antagonism of the Crystal Empire and Flash Sentry.
* GottaCatchThemAll: His goal at the end of ''War of The Lost City'' is to travel the world and collect [[spoiler:all the shards of Princess Amore's statue that he smashed and bring Amore back, as a way to atone for his actions]].
* HatedByAll: He's hated by majority of Crystal Ponies (except Ruby) as they want him dead in "The Quest of Redemption".
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: At first, he was an innocent unicorn colt, until he was corrupted by Rabia, [[spoiler:but he later becomes good again when he's freed from Armalum.]]
* ImmuneToFate: For reasons unknown, he never showed up in Misty Veil’s visions.
* IRegretNothing: [[spoiler:He tells Ruby straight to her face that he does not regret shattering Princess Amore, because of how she did nothing to help him when Rabia corrupted him.]]
* {{Irony}}: [[spoiler:As in canon, he was willing to enslave every citizen of the Crystal Empire. By ''War of the Lost City'', Sombra himself has become a slave to Shadow Corrupter, who has wiped out all of his memories and has binded him to Armalum.]]
* KilledMidSentence: He gives an angry rant when Cadance begins to overwhelm him during their BeamOWar, which is cut off when he is finally destroyed.
-->'''Sombra:''' This is...NO! I REFUSE TO LOSE! I AM STRONG! I AM SOMBRA, KING OF SHADOWS! I AM-
* LifeOrLimbDecision: Downplayed example but [[spoiler:during the mission to retrieve the last piece of Amore's statue, Sombra is grabbed by his tail by one of the Earth Golems they stole the piece from and is slowly dragged back towards them. Jaden manages to save him though by cutting his tail off]].
* NearVillainVictory: He is the closest to have ever come to killing Flash, as even with Ruby’s help, he was still much too powerful for him.
* PutOnABus: [[spoiler:At the end of ''War of the Lost City'', he departs from the rest of the party, partially to avoid imprisonment back in Equestria, but mostly to find all of the shards of Princess Amore and restore her. The othres reluctantly let him go, though Flash specifically warns that he'll come after him if he diverts from his mission.]]
* ReformedButRejected: Despite being freed from Umbrum, the Crystal Ponies treat him with hostility and disdain for his past action to the Crystal Empire.
* SinisterScythe: His primary weapon is a scythe with an end shaped like an axe blade.
* VillainousLegacy: [[spoiler:He is long dead in the timeline belonging to the evil Flash, but it is actually because of him that the Flash there rose to power. His [[AssimilationBackfire failed attempt to possess Flash]] gave him all of his dark powers, his memories, his knowledge, and left a dark influence on his mind, giving him the same need for power that Sombra had and beginning his conquest of Equestria.]]

[[folder:Hiveena]]
A changeling who served Doom Raizer as his infiltration specialist. She was put in prison for a short time, then released when Thorax arrived.
----
* AntagonisticOffspring: She didn’t start out as one, but when she overheard that her mother, Chrysalis, was planning to kill her because she feared that she was becoming too powerful to control, she fled the hive with plans to eventually return and overthrow her mother.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: She asks Ruby if she trusted Thorax, why did she force him to wear a collar like her? Ruby was unable to respond.
* ADayInTheLimelight: She is the central focus of "The Bug and The Knight" along with Ruby Scarlet as she tries to win Ruby's trust.
* BloodKnight: She enjoys fighting, especially in the season 6 opener, where she's enthusiastic with destroying the snow clouds threatening the Crystal Empire.
* TheBusCameBack: She makes a brief appearance during "Retirement" as one of the prisoners being transported to a new secret prison in the crystal mountains. Unlike Electra and Banshee though, she is unable to escape and is immediately recaptured.
* DamselInDistress: She is captured by Chrysalis and the Changelings and taken back to the Hive in "To Where and Back Again Part 1".
* DamselOutOfDistress: Despite being captured by her mother and the Changelings, she manages to secretly get out of the trap she was stuck in, and assisted Starlight and her team in their mission to destroy the throne, even facing Chrysalis in a ShapeshifterShowdown for her right to replace her as leader of the Changelings.
* DeadpanSnarker: She constantly snarks at Starlight's efforts to avoid talking to Suburst.
* [[invoked]] {{Expy}}: WordOfGod states that she is based on [[WesternAnimation/BeastWars Blackarachnia]].
* FreudianExcuse: She was treated like a daughter by Chrysalis, but the latter grew fearful that she was becoming too powerful and would overthrow her to take control of the hive, so she ordered her execution, forcing her to flee. Afterwards, Hiveena was forced to wander the cities of Equestria and remain emotionally destroyed by Chrysalis' betrayal. Eventually, she was found by Doom Raizer, whom she became loyal to when he promised her revenge against the rest of the Changelings.
* GoodWingsEvilWings: When she is seen again in "The Crystalling Part 1", her wings have changed to a shining sparkling version, similar to Thorax in canon. She mentions she remembered it happened to her once before, but doesn't remember what started it or when it went away.
* HeelFaceTurn: She’s released from prison in "Time for A Changeling" when Thorax arrives.
* InsultOfEndearment: Her various pet names for Flurry Heart include "little hell-raiser", "poop machine", and "brat".
* JerkassHasAPoint: She points out to Ruby that for all her talk about how Hiveena needs to earn trust from others, she and the ponies don't give her any chance to earn their trust or give her any reason to trust them, stating they haven't done anything to keep their promise to her of helping her replace Chrysalis as queen of the Changeling.
* LikeFatherUnlikeSon: Unlike Chrysalis, who was ruthless towards her changelings, Hiveena was kind and caring towards her changelings.
* NoodleIncident: She recalls an awkward moment where she was having an affair with a stallion whose wife walked in on them, saying that even ''that'' wasn't as bad as Starlight and Sunburst's reunion.
* {{Shapeshifter}}: Like all other changelings, she has this power and mastered it far faster than other changelings.
* ShipTease: She gets a few intimate moments with Thorax in "Time for A Changeling", where he's pretty much the catalyst for her HeelFaceTurn. By the end of Season 6, the two of them are now co-rulers of the Changelings together, and [[ShipperOnDeck Shining Soul comments that the two look cute together]].
* SupermodelStrut: She does a sexy strut in "The Bug and the Knight" to [[ShowSomeLeg get the attention of the thug]] she and Ruby are after.
* TykeBomb: Chrysalis intended to groom her into a weapon, but she grew beyond her expectations, and began viewing her as a threat to her rule.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: While she's not dating Thorax, she was pissed off when Thorax was injured by [[spoiler:Hard Sell's]] henchmen and transformed into a giant cobra to attack him.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Owl/Double Take]]
A member of the Crimson Masquerade Gang and has been coerced into a life of crime by Wolf.
----
* AffablyEvil: Despite being a criminal, he's generally friendly during his free time like playing a couple of games of chess with Iron Core. He drops the "evil" part after his HeelFaceTurn.
* ApologeticAttacker: After his identity has been revealed to Iron Core, a fight ensues between the two, though Double Take repeatedly apologizes and states that he has no choice but to follow Wolf's orders.
* CoolMask: Like the rest of his gang members, he wears an animal mask, specifically an owl.
* EvilCounterpart: Downplayed with Iron Core, since Double Take isn't exactly "evil", but he's still a part of the Crimson Masquerade Gang. Both feel underappreciated by their fellow companions and that their potential to do anything meaningful is minimal.
* HeelFaceTurn: He views himself as a "pawn" to Wolf and reluctantly joined his gang. After establishing a friendship with Iron Core, Double Take is inspired to break free from Wolf's control, which he does and helps the Royal Knights fight Wolf and the rest of the Crimson Masquerade Gang.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Downplayed. He may have helped the Royal Knights against the Crimson Masquerade Gang, but he's still going to be punished for being complicit with their previous crimes. On the bright side, Flash Sentry assures him that he may get a lighter punishment than his fellow criminals like only getting community service, in which Double Take can start a new life away from Wolf after finishing his sentence.
* IOweYouMyLife: What Wolf expects out of Double Take. Before joining the Crimson Masquerade Gang, Double Take had no family or friends and was left to starve on the streets, until Wolf took him in. Now, Wolf expects Double Take to follow his orders without question, even if it means committing crimes or harming his friends.
* OneShotCharacter: He's only appeared in "Iron's Place".

A unicorn who led a cult praising equality, who later tried to exact revenge on Twilight Sparkle for dismantling said cult.
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: When she meets Trixie again in "Trixie's Trial", Trixie accidentally calls her "Starlight Glamour".
* AdaptationalContextChange: The circumstances leading to her HeelFaceTurn are altered thanks to the presence of Evil Flash.
* BatmanGambit: [[spoiler:She tricks Evil Flash into jumping into a lake by tossing a fake scroll into the water, which he jumps in after, unaware that by doing so, he just destroyed his scroll.]]
* ContrivedCoincidence: [[spoiler:She activated the time travel spell at the same time that the Evil Flash had found the same scroll in his timeline.]]
* DidntThinkThisThrough: She didn't anticipated Script using his magic to get his food when she was trying to get him and Grand together.
* EasilyForgiven: Like in canon, Twilight and Spike managed to get her to stop her plan for revenge by showing her what will happen in the future if she succeeds, and offering her friendship. Zigzagged when they get back to the Present though. Although the rest of the Mane 6 still accept her and Celestia is willing to accept Twilight's decision on how to deal with her, Luna still declares that there must be at least ''some'' form of punishment given to her for her actions, even something as simple as community service. When Flash returns at the end of ''War of the Lost City'', he is understandably startled to see her again, but once Twilight vouches for her and Starlight apologizes for what she did he decides to go along with it because Twilight says she can be trusted, but warns Starlight he'll be keeping an eye on her.
* EnemyMine: She’s forced to work with Twilight Sparkle and Spike to stop the Evil Flash from traveling the multiverse and killing other Flashes.
* FailedASpotCheck: She didn't place anything in the vault she keeps all the cutie marks she removed to ''act'' as her cutie mark. Flash manages to convince Double Diamond she is a fake by asking him what her real cutie mark looks like, and when Double Diamond can't answer he remembers when he first joined the village [[SpotTheThread his mark was the fourth in the vault]], but he was the ''fifth'' member of the village, which ''included Starlight''.
* FireForgedFriends: She becomes friends with Twilight by fighting along side her against the Evil Flash.
* ForegoneConclusion: Her HeelFaceTurn is all but inevitable. However, before that happens, [[spoiler:she has to work with Twilight Sparkle to stop an alternate universe version of Flash Sentry from going around different timelines, and killing their versions of Flash.]]
* ItsAllMyFault: [[spoiler:She realizes that the whole reason she, Twilight, and Spike have to deal with an evil version of Flash is because she messed with the time-travel spell and accidentally brought him back in time with them. Twilight agrees it is her fault, but they can't change that and all that matter now is what she is going to do about it.]]
* LethalChef: She made sandwiches for Heart and Soul, let's just says her sandwiches are ''not'' good at all.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Downplayed on the receiving end. Unlike in canon where Twilight tries to appeal to her completely sympathetically, when she shows her the wasteland timeline she tells her that even though she is sorry she and her friends took her village away from her she still tells her taking cutie marks away is ''wrong'' and that the wasteland is proof of that. When Starlight shows her and Spike her past, Twilight is shocked that such a petty reason caused so many dark futures. Later when talking Starlight down, when she says how her friendship with Sunburst was torn apart, Twilight points out that ''Starlight'' herself was the one who gave up on friendships in general and didn't try to make new friends after she lost Sunburst. Though she still gets through to her by offering her own friendship to her.
* ShipTease: [[spoiler:As in canon, she gets this with Sunburst. In "A Flash of Darkness", Evil Flash not only offers to create a better future for her and Sunburst, but he even mentions that there is one future where she and Sunburst are together. Starlight is noticeably flustered by this.]]
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Along with her meddling in the past creating several {{bad future}}s where Equestria is in ruins like in canon, she also unintentionally [[spoiler:brings an evil alternate version of Flash Sentry to the past with her and Twilight, due to him [[ContrivedCoincidence holding the same spell in his timeline when she activated it in hers]]]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fire Salamander]]
A salamander that is capable of producing fire and terrorizes the town of Trakeyser.
----
* ArtisticLicenseBiology: It is sometimes interchangeably called a lizard by the characters and even by the narration, even though salamanders are a completely different species than lizards and even come from a different class of animal (salamanders are amphibians, while lizards are reptiles).
* HeelFaceTurn: Surprisingly, unlike other dangerous creatures that have appeared in the series, the salamander is capable of reasoning and it agrees to stop harassing the ponies when it's given its own nature preserve to live in peace.
* ItCanThink: It was initially believed that it was just a mindless beast, but Fluttershy realized that it was capable of thought by noticing how it used strategy to escape from them, and that it appeared to [[ItsPersonal hold a grudge against Grand]]. She also realized that this means it is capable of being reasoned with.
* ItsPersonal: It turns out it is the exact same Fire Salamander Grand Hoof fought years ago. When it sees Grand again it just glares at him, and focuses its attacks on him.
* PlayingWithFire: It can generate fire out of thin air.
* {{Sizeshifter}}: It can change in size, in which it will increase in size if it absorbs heat and shrink if it loses heat.
* SuperSpit: Grand Hoof mentions that it can spit fire.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Camera Trap]]
A photographer that causes trouble in New Omniara.
----
* AlasPoorVillain: Despite putting the citizens of New Omniara in danger by pretending to be their friend, and his actions causing the deaths of countless others before them, his death still greatly saddens Soul.
* HeroicSacrifice: Soul convinces him what he has been doing is wrong and he helps save the ponies he put in danger and help Flash destroy his former master, despite knowing that doing so will be the death of him.
* MortalityPhobia: The main reason he has been helping his master for so long is because he fears that should he disobey he will be disposed of. More specifically, he fears that since he was created, and not born like a real pony, he is afraid that [[TheNothingAfterDeath there is no afterlife waiting for him like other ponies]].
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: He is convinced by Soul to turn against his master and save the ponies he put in danger and destroy his former master, but in doing so gives up his own life, without his master to keep him alive.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Foxhelm]]
The current ruler of Batponies
----
* TheDragon: Foxhelm is the main enforcer of Fangpire, being the leader of the guard, fighting his Grand Duels, and generally doing most of his dirty work.
* HeelFaceTurn: He ends up turning against his father and have him arrested.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: His introduction to Rogue and his friends is rather prickly, but he does have standards and is a more reasonable leader than Fangpire.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: When he found that Rogue hasn't left the cloud, despite being ordered to do so, Foxhelm confronts him. Before he can arrest him, Rogue points out how powerful his own friends are and that arresting him would be unwise, which Foxhelm begrudgingly agrees with and so he leaves.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: After deposing his father, Foxhelm swears to reverse many of his worst decisions, namely reopening communications with Equestria, renouncing Rogue's banishment, and vowing to never oppress the thestrals he governs.

[[folder:Tempest Shadow]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlp_2017_tempest.png]]
A jaded unicorn with a broken horn whose come into service to the Storm King.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: While the movie left it vague as to if Tempest wanted to kill Capper and the pirates for their betrayal, this version of Tempest makes it no secret that she wants them dead and she even cackles when she destroys Celaeno's ship.
* AwesomeMcCoolName: She admits she changed her name from "Fizzlepop Berrytwist" to "Tempest Shadow" to sound more intimating and so others would take her seriously. Flash states how he thinks her former name was much cooler.
* CoDragons: She's one of the main enforcers of the Storm King, along with Void and [[spoiler:Armalum]].
* ForgivenButNotForgotten: When Flash meets her again for the first time since the events of ''The Movie'' and she asks him if he still hates her, he tells her he knows she isn't his enemy anymore but he doesn't know if he can trust her as a friend yet, since she needs to earn that trust. Celaeno and her crew initially don't trust her either, due to her having tried to kill them previously, but are convinced by Flash to give her a chance.
* FriendOrIdolDecision: In the climax of "The Epic of Tempest Shadows", when the cave that served as Looter's tomb starts to collapse, Tempest tries to reach for The Cup of Restoration, a relic that she saw had the power to heal any injury of anyone who drinks from it, no matter how old or severe it is, realizing she can use it to restore her horn and get her magic back. But she realizes she has to choose either to get the cup or save Captain Celaeno, who was in danger. Remembering Flash's words to her previously, she chooses to let go of her desires for her magic and save her friend.
* PragmaticVillainy: When counting the number of alicorns, she notes that Flurry Heart is missing from Canterlot, but doesn't pursue after her because she already has enough of the Princesses to empower the Storm King's staff.
* InSeriesNickname: She allows Flash to call her "Fizz" as a shortened version of her old name. Even the narration refers to her as that from that point on.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Grubber]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlp_2017_grubber.png]]
A hedgehog-like creature that plays an auxillary role to the Storm King's empire.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: At worst in canon, Grubber just seemed to be a PunchClockVillain who was only really antagonistic because he was accompanying Tempest. Here, Grubber is much less affable, voicing his interest in destroying Derpy, Ace, and Mira's stone statues because they're too heavy and to cow the other ponies into submitting to the Storm King.
* ButtMonkey: He carries this over from canon, being Tempest's BumblingSidekick. He ends up getting DemotedToExtra and stuck with grunt work because with Void part of The Storm King's army he is no longer as high up with Tempest as he used to be. Afterwards in "The Epic of Tempest Shadows", when everyone uses one of his emergency escapes from his office, Tempest ''throws him'' into his escape tube before everyone else jumps in, which leads to Grubber flying out and hitting his head on the pavement and everyone else landing on top of him as they exit.
* CrazyPrepared: When a group of criminals come looking for the treasure map he gave to Flash, Tempest, Spike, and Starswirl, and they ask him if he has any secret ways out, he showed that he had ''four'' different emergency escapes in his office.
* DemotedToExtra: He's not as prominent on Tempest's search for the Mane 7 because she's accompanied by the more useful Void and [[spoiler:Armalum]], so Grubber usually stays on the sidelines instead.
* EasilyForgiven: In spite of his more malicious actions in this series, he's just as easily forgiven because he and the other Storm Guards were cowed into fighting on his side and have no reason to remain evil, now that he's dead.
* GoodCostumeSwitch: Similar to what was briefly seen in canon, he changes his outfit following his HeelFaceTurn. Here, he paints his old armor, changing the symbol to now resemble his own face winking with a smile.
* GreenEyedMonster: Grubber secretly resents Void and [[spoiler:Armalum]] because he thinks they're obstructing his opportunities to be promoted in the empire's hierarchy.
* PetTheDog: He let Apple Bloom get Golden Apples for Rogue after the ponies told him that he'll die if he doesn't eat them.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Capper]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlp_2017_capper.png]]
A shifty Abyssinian who gains the trust of the heroes on their journey to find the Hippogriffs, but is secretly planning to sell them out to slavery, until he has a change of heart.
----
* PetTheDog: Even before his HeelFaceTurn, he wasn't personally a bad guy, as he does let Soul use one of his blank pieces of paper when she asks.
* ShipSinking: As Rarity herself says, there is no romantic chemistry between her and Capper because she's already dating Lightning Blitz.
* TravelingSalesman: By the end of the ''Movie'', he's roaming around Equestria as a show-cat salesman who promises to remain honest "to a certain degree".
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Captain Celeano]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlp_2017_celaeno.png]]
A parrot pirate who's been forced to work for the Storm King under threat of violence.
----
* MrExposition: In addition to explaining her canon reason for working with the Storm King, she also gives some exposition to his possible origins, where he's rumored to be the last living descendant of an ancient king who went insane when he lost his magic.
* SeadogPegLeg: She has crystal peg leg like in canon, but here, Spike tries to ''eat'' it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Chancellor Neighsay]]
[[quoteright:208:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/large_52.png]]
The chancellor of the Equestrian Education Association, who threatens to shut down Twilight's School of Friendship.
----
* AdaptationalKarma: Played with a bit. He is still out-smarted and removed from power at the School of Friendship by Cozy Glow here. In canon, he was subjected to a bit of RestrainedRevenge by Yona when the students rescued him, before instantly being EasilyForgiven. Here, his damaged amulet is unable to take him directly to Canterlot when he tries to go get help against Cozy, due to Springer having previously damaged it during their brief battle, and ends up in the middle of the woods. He makes his way to the outskirts of Canterlot, disheveled and exhausted from his trek, only to meet Springer, the princesses, and the guards outside mobilizing without him right before they all get their magic back. After Cozy Glow is dealt with, Twilight and Celestia are both unhappy to hear about his actions while Twilight was away from the school, imprisoning innocent students without proof, attempting to take over the school himself, and banishing Springer from the school with an enchantment. Celestia says she will need to have a stern talk with the EEA about this, and that Neighsay would need to give a very heartfelt apology if he wants to keep his job and avoid being arrested. But his last scene in Season 8 is still him walking the halls with Celestia and Twilight, now expressing relief that Twilight is back and showing regret for his previous bigotry towards non-ponies.
* ImproperlyParanoid: When Flash voices his hopes that the School of Friendship would act as a nexus for a future peace agreement with the other races of Equestria, Neighsay dismisses such a notion because he suspects the other nations will take advantage of the agreement as a ploy to launch a surprise attack against the ponies. Needless to say, Twilight's flabbergasted at the claim.
* InsultBackfire: When Neighsay shuts down the School of Friendship and goes on a prejudiced diatribe against the other races, Heart remarks that he sounds crazy enough that he would want to build a wall around Equestria. Either being snide or DramaticallyMissingThePoint, Neighsay remarks that it's "not a bad idea".
* JerkassHasAPoint: Bigotry aside, several characters do acknowledge he had a point that the Student Six and the jakhowl pups shouldn't have cut class, which is unacceptable for a school, EEA standards or not.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: His prejudice against Springer for being a non-pony leads to him ignoring how he stated Starlight was suppsoed to be in-charge while Twilight was away instead of Cozy, and casting a spell that rejects him from the school, preventing him from entering without causing him pain. This prevents Springer from being able to deal with Cozy Glow and her plan himself, which he would have been able to easily do seeing as he was unaffected by the loss of magic and was older and stronger than her.

[[folder:Garble]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/garble.png]]
A dragon who bullies both Spike and Springer during their visit to the Dragon Lands.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: He's even more of a sociopath here. He constantly harasses Springer for not being a dragon and occasionally endangers him like when he throws him into a lava pool. {{Justified| Trope}} since a black dragon, Shade in disguise, influenced Garble numerous times to antagonize Springer.
* AdaptationalWimp: His attempts to bully Spike in "Sweet and Smokey" are much less successful compared to canon, thanks to Spike now having his Mystic Dragon magic to defend himself with.
* BigBadWannabe: Although he's the main antagonist of "Dragon Quest," Shade is the one manipulating his more sociopathic tendencies and he's ultimately more dangerous than Garble is.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Even after he attempts to bury the hatchet with Spike, he warns him that if he ever tries anything with his sister Smolder he'll tie him up and feed him to the biggest tatzlwurm he can find.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: The mind-controlled Flicker uses the Bloodstone Scepter and a book to control him and the rest of the dragons.
* EasilyForgiven: {{Subverted}}. Though Garble has a HeelFaceTurn like in the original series, Spike admits that he can't immediately forgive all of the times he bullied him and that the two of them will most likely never be friends. However, Spike does acknowledge his change of heart and will give him a chance to redeem himself with time.
* EvilerThanThou: On the receiving end of this by Shade, who beats him in a fight effortlessly, establishing him as a greater threat to Springer than Garble is.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: He apparently doesn't like the idea of Smolder dating anyone, given how he threatens Spike if he ever tries anything with her.
* UngratefulBastard: He continues to try to bully Spike even after he saved him and the entire dragon race from Malafear.
