[[folder: Alexandra Potter]]
The daughter of the infamous traitor James Potter and Lily Evans, Alexandra has faced antagonism from all sides. Caught between the unrepentant Light bigotry and the plans of the Dark faction known as the Exchequer as a Champion of a Dark power, Alexandra works primarily for her own survival and self-enrichment.
----
* TheAce: Her magical core is on track to develop into being an Alpha-level core, putting her on the same level as Dumbledore, power-wise, and her intellect is nothing to scoff at either, being something of a prodigy in regards to Runes and Charms. [[spoiler: It's only compounded by her status as the Champion of Death, which gives her incredible and unique powers along with ownership of [[CoolSword Clarent]], as well as her animagus form of a Lernaean Hydra, which massively boosts her strength.]]
* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler: She loses an arm in her duel against Ra, along with her wand and [[CoolSword sword]] being shattered. It's regrown when the Exchequer take her to Avalon to be healed, but she's still left reeling from it.]]
* {{Animorphism}}: She becomes an animagus in her third year, and masters her form [[spoiler: as a Lernaean Hydra]] in her fourth.
* AscendedFangirl: After the statute is broken she manages to attach herself to the production crew of Creator/PeterJackson's Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
* AuthorityInNameOnly: [[spoiler:Wins the title of Queen of Britannia by defeating Galahad (formerly Leo Black) in a duel on Westminster Bridge, but she also acknowledges that since Britannia is a nation that is legally distinct from Great Britain which hasn't existed for fifteen centuries, the title is meaningless.]]
* ButNotTooEvil: While she ''is'' a Dark Witch in strict sense of the term (namely, a witch sworn to one of the Dark Powers), she doesn't use or even know many actual Dark Arts. Most of what she uses that Dumbledore and the Ministry calls dark are combat spells that have nothing to do with the Light or Dark, but were banned in Britain for arbitrary reasons.
* TheChosenOne: As [[spoiler: the Champion of Death, she's much stronger than any normal person.]]
* CoolSword: As [[spoiler: the Champion of the Morrigan]], she's able to wield Glamdring, [[spoiler: [=AKA=] Clarent, [=AKA=] The Answerer, Mordred's sword. It's able to kill Dementors, and forces anyone that its held to the throat of to only tell the truth. Like the Sword of Gryffindor in canon, it's absorbed the poison of the basilisk, making any wound fatal without phoenix tears being applied within two minutes.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: She may be the [[spoiler:Champion of the Morrigan, a firmly Dark Power]], but she and the rest of the Exiled Army are without a doubt one of the few forces that can generally be considered Good in this setting. She also has no interest in joining with the Exchequer, who are willing to commit plans and atrocities far more than what her morals will allow.
* TheDreaded: She has this reputation both in-school and out, and regards it as the reason for her being alive through her first year. [[spoiler: By her fourth year, she's strong enough that Albus Dumbledore acknowledges that if he wants her dead, he'll have to duel her himself.]]
* EveryoneHasStandards: What sets her apart from other Dark wizards and witches is her disdain for many of the crueller practices the Dark Arts hold. While she's fine with killing people who are in her way or who try to kill her first, she refuses to drag out a death or cause massacres.
* FamousAncestor: Can claim descent from both Mordred and Alexander the Great.
* GoodIsNotSoft: She's genuinely kind-hearted and noble to those who have earned her trust and friendship, but she will show no hesitation in unleashing lethal force against her enemies and those who try to destroy her first.
* IdenticalStranger: [[spoiler: She looks identical to Mordred, her predecessor as the potential Champion of the Morrigan.]]
* ShockAndAwe: She has an affinity for lightning-affinity magic, what with being chosen by a wand with a core of hydra heartstring. [[spoiler: It's intensified when she becomes a hydra animagus.]] That said, it doesn't prevent her from learning a good number of [[AnIcePerson ice]] spells as well.
* SickeninglySweethearts: With Susan Bones, enough so that the other Exiles are ready to gag whenever they get flirty.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Morag MacDougal]]
Alexandra's first friend both at Hogwarts and... well, [[FriendlessBackground ever]]. A fellow Ravenclaw, though she's not as bookish as Alexandra. She introduces the muggle-raised halfblood into many of the old traditions of wizarding culture, including introducing her to the MysteryCult of the Morrigan.
----
* AsYouKnow: Regularly provides details regarding British politics and history to the muggle raised Alexandra and Hermione and foreign born Lyre.
* BetaBitch: Morag is proud of her friendship with Alexandra and shamelessly rubs her friends successes and accomplishments in others faces.
* TheGadfly: She's the Exiled most likely to poke fun at someone, especially at Alexandra.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: While not prejudiced against muggleborns, she scathingly highlights that Noble heirs being academically dominated by the likes of Alexandra Potter and Hermione Granger are a damning indictment of the modern nobility. This is despite the fact nobles have the money, knowledge and/or favors to educate and practice magic for years prior to attending Hogwarts.
* PantheraAwesome: She has the animagus form of a tiger.
* PlayingwithFire: she has an affinity for fire magic.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Hermione Granger]]
A muggleborn sorted into Gryffindor, Hermione soon becomes friends with Alexandra and Morag along with Nigel after they save her. [[spoiler: Due to being friends with the school pariah, however, she and Nigel are kicked out of Gryffindor and accepted into Ravenclaw at the end of their second year.]]
----
* {{Bookworm}}: She spends most of her time in the library and is dueling with Draco over who has the top exam scores in their year. [[spoiler: When she's kicked out of Gryffindor for being friends with Alexandra, she joins Ravenclaw.]]
* {{Irony}}: Alexandra notes the irony of someone with the animagus form of an Arctic Sea Lion being so weak to the cold.
* SkilledButNaive: Like canon, Hermione's greatest weakness is her lack of practical experience in most forms of magic she intellectually understands.
* SweetSeal: Her animagus form would be an Arctic Sea Lion, but she was disappointed in that result and never pursued the path of the animagus.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Nigel]]
* {{Expy}}: Of Neville Longbottom in canon. He's a nervous boy sorted into Gryffindor, whose magical skill is weak and hampered further by her anxiety, on top of being bullied by Snape.
* FullBoarAction: His animagus form would be a boar, but he never pursued that ability.
* IntrepidReporter: He's the co-editor of the ''Loud Duck'' along with Luna Lovegood, which spreads news all around Hogwarts, often to spite Dumbledore.
* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVersusCynicism: By international standards, the "Loud Duck" is a incredibly cynical publication of Hogwarts and the British Ministry of Magic. By British standards it is positively idealistic given almost every major newspaper is either tabloid trash or utter propaganda.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Lyre de Male-Foi]]
* {{Animorphism}}:
* DistaffCounterpart: Lyre serves as a severe one to Draco who both come from similar elitist and racist backgrounds. By virtue of being an heiress, she was taught a level of decorum and subtlety her cousin lacks. Unlike Draco, she's also considerably kinder and more empathetic amongst her friends and allies, namely the Exiled Army.
* FrenchJerk: In public and in politics, however she is notably more empathetic among friends and allies than the remainder of her family.
* JerkassHasAPoint: The French branch of the Malfoy family are devout supporters of the Pureblood movement. However even they find the British practice on incest to be insane.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Lyre is easily one of the most accomplished and powerful young students in Hogwarts. However compared to the raw power of Ginny, Neville and Alexandra, and the academic brilliance of Hermione, she comes off as average.

[[/folder]]

!!!Associates

[[folder: Penelope Clearwater]]

* AllegoricalCharacter: Penelope represents the muggleborn population of Britain who are effectively barred from meaningful positions in government or business despite their abilities.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Unlike a good deal of students and prefects, Penelope treated Alexandra kindly when she initially came to Hogwarts. As a result Alexandra with aid from Daphne Greengrass and Susan Bones provide start-up funding for her future business.
* TookALevelInCynic: Penelope sobered on her future as a witch very quickly once she started applying for jobs outside of Hogwarts. Light or Dark, her birth and not her skills were all that mattered.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Susan Bones]]
The niece of Amelia Bones, student of House Hufflepuff, and Alexandra Potter's girlfriend. During the European Magical Tournament, she's chosen as one of Cedric Diggory's backup Champions.
----
* MeaningfulName: While recent generations of the Bones family have been Light or Neutral, the family name is a reference to their origins as a clan of Necromancers.
* {{Necromancer}}: In training.
* SickeninglySweethearts: With Alexandra.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Fred and George Weasley]]
The two members of the Weasley family willing to talk to Alexandra, they find great amusement in her exploits and serve as her ears in House Gryffindor.
----
* GadgeteerGenius: Alexandra uses them as her go-to supplier of non-standard magical tools.
* LightEmUp: Fred says that George is the better of the two of them when casting Light spells.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Luna Lovegood]]
The daughter of the Quibbler's editor and the co-writer of the Loud Duck along with Nigel.
----
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}} Unsurprisingly Luna is in a league of her own for weirdness, even in a world of magic.
* TheIdealist: Firmly believes in journalistic integrity, to the point she has to be negotiated down by the other Exiled.
* OffScreenMomentOfAwesome: It is implied she was one of the first students to investigate and realize Ginny was possessed, unfortunately she got petrified as a result
* SmarterThanTheyLook: Odd behavior or not, Luna repeatedly demonstrates and eye for detail that other students miss.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Ginny Weasley]]
!!!Scylla Yaxley
Formerly the only daughter and youngest child of the Weasley family, a ritual called ''Sang Royale'' converted her into a member of the Yaxley family. Thanks to the machinations of the Queen of the Exchequer, she's bound to the service of Alexandra Potter.
----
* TheAce: As the 7th child of a 7th child, Ginny was born with immense magical potential. She also follows in her older brother Percy's footsteps as a student.
* LockedIntoStrangeness: The ''Sang Royale'' turned her hair a platinum blonde, as well as giving her [[TechnicolorEyes purple eyes]].
* ThatManIsDead: Between the actions taken while possessed by the Diary and the schemes of the Exchequer, Ginny Weasley no longer exists in a biological or magical sense of the word, only Scylla Yaxley, though the Scylla personality itself is also deceased.
* WalkingSpoiler: It's hard to talk about her without discussing her double identity as Scylla Yaxley.

[[/folder]]

!!Hogwarts

!!!Gryffindor

[[folder: Neville Longbottom]]
The Boy who Lived, Neville Longbottom is the only survivor of Voldemort's attack on his family after James Potter sold out their location to the Dark Lord, and is famed for having defeated Voldemort as an infant when his Killing Curse backfired and destroyed him. He was the Champion of Fate.
----
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: [[spoiler: After the Boat Race during the European Magical Tournament's Fourth Task, all of the members of the Day Court other than himself consider him to be the wrong choice for the Day Court's King, and are preparing to vote him out... before Death Eaters attack the Day Court's citadel.]]
* {{Animorphism}}: has the Animagus form of Nemean Lion.
* TheChosenOne: Out of TheChosenMany, Neville stands out as the Champion of Fate, the lynchpin that ensures the hegemony of the Light. He officially takes on the mantle during the tryouts to be one of the Champions of Hogwarts in the European Magical Tournament.
* TookALevelInKindness: [[spoiler: When Ron and Leo are suspended from Hogwarts, Neville matures and begins to spend time with the more down-to-earth people in Gryffindor, and is disappointed in the more fanatical sides of the Light.]]
* UnfitForGreatness: After [[spoiler:losing his position as Champion of Fate]], he is forced to conclude that had he not been a holder or prospective holder of that title throughout the Tournament preliminaries, he wouldn't have made it to the Tournament at all.
* UnwittingPawn: It's stated multiple times that for all his fame in the British Isles and his status as [[spoiler: the Champion of Fate]], he's rather easily manipulated by just about anyone - made worse by the fact that just about every other major player in the story is TheChessmaster. [[spoiler: This is made much worse by Fate's direct influence in the Third Task, which allows other Light wizards and witches to MindControl him.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Ron Weasley]]
* AdaptationalDumbass: Ron is portrayed as being more of a follower who is quick to believe nasty rumors even when they're absurd. His victory over the magical chess set in the first year is also portrayed as requiring impressive skill and cleverness in the books while here, Alexandra dismissively doubts that it could have been that challenging since she beat the game as well despite being a novice (although she may be underestimating her own skills). He also arrogantly dismisses the idea of Slughorn being a skilled potion master just because of how fat he is.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Due to a Compulsion he was placed under by [[spoiler: Isis, his anger at Alexandra following a Quidditch game that went wrong results in him and Leo almost killing many members of Ravenclaw House after spiking their food with untested Zonko's products. Because of this, he has a lighter punishment than Leo, but he still doesn't get out of it entirely.]]
* CharacterDevelopment: Subverted; Ron is far more confident than in canon. However his attitude, inferiority complex, and relationship with his family have worsened as a result. Ginny, George, and Fred all point out he doesn't have the power or money to back up his bluster.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Leo Black]]
The only son and heir of Sirius Black, and one of Neville Longbottom's best friends, he balances out Neville and Ron's more wild behavior earlier on in the series. He becomes Champion of Unity after the death of Lorenzo de Medici.
----
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: [[spoiler: After his suspension is cut short by Dumbledore's scheming, he very quickly becomes one of the most reviled students in Hogwarts. The only reason he hasn't yet been killed is that everyone's waiting to see if the European Magical Tournament offs him first.]]
* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler:Between injuries, poison and curses, he loses an arm, a leg, and his other hand in his duel against Alexandra.]]
* {{Animorphism}}: has the form of a Griffin.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: He has a bad habit of letting his mouth make promises that his hands can't keep. In particular, his rudeness towards people he doesn't see as firmly on the side of the Light results in him alienating a lot of potential allies and making enemies of those who would otherwise be neutral.
* DoNotCallMePaul: During his duel with Alexandra, he repeatedly insists that he is not Leo Black, but [[spoiler:Galahad, heir to the throne of Britannia. [[DidntThinkThisThrouh This provides a great legal justification for his family to disown him for breaking the Statute so blatantly.]]]]
* GrandTheftMe: [[spoiler: After the Fourth Task, Dumbledore reveals that ''something'' is puppeting Leo's body on Ra's behalf, claiming to be the true king of Britain and attacking the headmaster for not being loyal enough to Ra.]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: He doesn't care about [[spoiler: almost killing multiple Ravenclaw students after his DeadlyPrank]], yet he constantly lambasts and condemns other people for much lesser actions.
* TookALevelInJerkass: [[spoiler: After his suspension, coinciding with Neville taking a level in kindness.]]
* UnskilledButStrong: [[spoiler:The blessing of the Grail grants him incredible power, but no understanding of how to effectively use it. This allows Alexandra, who had spent four years coming into her power and developing a proper dueling style around it, to easily trounce him.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Geoffery Hooper]]
A relatively pleasant and diligent Gryffindor wizard who ends up as a champion in the European Magical Tournament.
----
* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler:A possessed statue of a crocodile bites his arm off during the Second Task.]]
* NotBad: Most of Gryffindor is hostile toward Alex and her friends, but he seems to soften up after being impressed by the skills they show in the first tournament preliminary.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Like Cedric, he isn't ''terrible'' at the tournament tasks, but he's clearly outclassed by at least half of the other competitors.
* SuddenNameChange: He's ocassionally referred to as George instead of Geoffrey.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Geoffrey grows a lot more hostile toward Alexandra after losing his arm in the tournament, although Alexandra isn't willing to completely write off any hope of him being "salvageable."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Angelina Johnson]]
A talented Gryffindor witch and one of the reserve tournament champions.
----
* BookDumb: She does better than her housemates in many of the tournament preliminaries regarding spell-casting skills but scores a zero in a potions test, and never fully regains her advantage afterward.
* TheScapegoat: Averted, Johnson is one of the most vocal members of her house when it comes to not blaming their problems on others. She particularly dislikes her fellow Gryffindor's propensity for blaming Dark Magic and/or House Slytherin for their own shortcomings.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lavender Brown]]
* BrilliantButLazy: Lavender is intelligent enough to maintain an impressive gossip network but expends almost no energy on her schoolwork.
* LovableAlphaBitch: She cares about little besides her appearance and gossip, and can be rude at times, but most of her gossip isn't malicious from what's seen so far, she occasionally helps Neville with his misguided but well-meaning heroics and she doesn't immediately pounce on every anti-Alexandra bandwagon.
* OffScreenMomentOfAwesome: Subverted (probably). She does take part in the efforts to save the Philosopher's Stone and her efforts are off-screen, but the Hogwarts rumor mill suggests that she may have been TheLoad and crashed her broom during the endeavor.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan]]
The Golden Trio's roommates and occasionally help with their adventures, pranks, or planning.
----
* AdaptationalDumbass: Neither of the two was an academic prodigy in the books, but this story has them be extremely bad students. The only first year students with worse grades than Seamus are Crabbe and Goyle, while the one time Dean brews a viable potion in Snape's class "it had been in all likelihood an accident."
[[/folder]]

!!!Hufflepuff

[[folder: Cedric Diggory]]
* JackOfAllTrades: He's at a decent to talented level for just about everything, allowing him to be prepared for anything that happens in the [=EMT=]. As Bagman notes, however, his lack of weaknesses means he also has no great strengths, and he's not got a subject he can say he's an expert at.
* NiceGuy: He's unfailingly polite and pleasant to other people, and ignores the pressure his father is putting on him to cut ties with Alexandra.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: By the second task, Dumbledore admits that Cedric is a good wizard but that he's only average compared to TheChosenMany who are dominating him in the European Magical Tournament.
* TheReliableOne: What Cedric falls into during the European Magical Tournament. He lacks the power to be a true threat to victory, but he remains skilled and talented enough to reliably gain points.
[[/folder]]

!!!Ravenclaw

[[folder: Cho Chang]]
A Ravenclaw upperclassman and Prefect, her life being saved by Alexandra in third year results in her becoming an associate of Alexandra, assisting her throughout the European Magical Tournament and serving as a potential future Alchemist, should Alexandra be able to get her a teacher in the art.
[[/folder]]
[[folder: Roger Davis]]
Captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team and Ravenclaw upperclassman, he becomes Alexandra's first replacement in the European Magical Tournament.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Alex Skyes]]
A war orphan who displays some TeensAreMonsters behavior when he chooses to target Alex in a misguided effort to avenge his parents.
----
* NeverMyFault: Blames Alexandra for the loss of privileges Flitwick strips from him for trying to murder a student.
* RevengeBeforeReason: Tries to murder an eleven-year-old for crimes her father allegedly committed a decade previously. Getting caught and punished is no deterrent for him.
* RuleOfThree: Tries to murder Alexandra three times. The third time ends with him getting killed by a troll.
* SinsOfTheFather: James Potter was allegedly responsible for the death of some of his family in the war, so he seeks revenge upon his daughter.
[[/folder]]

!!!Slytherin

[[folder: Draco Malfoy]]
* FatalFlaw: Cowardice. Anytime he faces a problem his family cannot threaten or buyoff, he folds almost immediately. This also seriously hampers his mother's political manuevering as he keeps sinking his own reputation.
* UpperClassTwit: Draco is the same rich, haughty BlueBlood as in canon, whose stupidity and jerkass tendencies are ridiculed as Ravenclaw students begin to dominate Hogwarts.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Blaise Zabini]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Marcus Flint]]
* HiddenDepths: He seems like a dumb and potentially bigoted JerkJock at first, but he disapproves of Draco Malfoy's stupid and self-indulgent behavior and views Voldemort as a monster who shouldn't return to power.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Cassius Warrington]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: In the books, Warrington's an Umbridge lackey but (as far as we know) not an aspiring Death Eater.
* CheatersNeverProsper: Warrington becomes the Slytherin champion of the European Magical Tournament partially because he cheats in the potions preliminary. All this does is guarantee him a slot in a competition that is lethal for someone with his (minimal) skillset.
* DifficultyLevels: Warrington only achieved his placement as Champion in the EMT because he had the easiest path of any champion of any school. House Slytherin had no serious contenders, and unlike every other school Hogwarts deliberately limited the number of applicants by house. He gets killed only minutes into the actual Tournament when the difficulty level rises to normal.
* UriahGambit: The reason why Slytherin had no serious contenders for EMT Champion was because the moderates of the House decided to let the radical blood purists compete virtually unopposed in the hopes that they wouldn't return from Venice alive. Warrington's ignominious demise shows that the plan is working.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Graham Montague]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: Like Warrington, Montague's an Umbridge lackey in the book but a servant of Voldemort here.
* ButtMonkey: Montague spends practically every scene he's in being injured, threatened, humiliated, not taken seriously, or some combination of the above. It's hard to say he doesn't deserve it due to his loyalty to Voldemort. During the European Magical Tournament, his performance in the second, third and fourth tasks are so lamentable that he scores a 0 all three times even though he survives.
* DumbassHasAPoint: He's wildly acknowledged as incompetent and performs so pitifully in the second, third and fourth tasks that he gains no points at all, but everyone agrees with him dismissing Leo and Ron as not gifted with a tenth of Alexandra's power and skill, and his insistence on stringent selection criteria for the Day Court's participants.
* SketchySuccessor: To Warrington (as terrible a Slytherin champion as he was in his own right). Warrington at least forms an alliance against a dangerous threat and goes out fighting (although fighting is pretty suicidal). Montague, on the other hand, is eliminated without scoring any points three times in a row without even dying after he pathetically botches some relatively simple magic.
* UriahGambit: Has inadvertently been thwarting Slytherin House's plan to let the blood bigots get themselves killed in the EMT by being so incompetent that he keeps getting disqualified and pulled from the tasks before he can actually die.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: Pretty much everyone in and out of universe feels that his time is running out as soon as he replaces Warrington as the magical tournament's Slytherin champion and that the luck that kept him alive during the second task won't last. The score tally even refers to him as "not yet deceased."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle]]
* Big Eater:
* TheMillstone: Crabbe and Goyle are viewed as brainless bunglers who embarrass and hinder Slytherin with their lack of talent.

[[/folder]]

!!!Teachers
[[folder: In General]]
* AdaptationExpansion: Beyond the canon teachers, each professor has a Junior Professor to assist them in teaching. They tend to reflect and compound the reputation of each class.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Headmaster Dumbledore]]
* TheAce: The greatest Wizard of the 20th century, a recognized prodigy of immense skill and power. Even well past his prime, he remains a league above 99% of the world.
* CallousnessTowardsEmergency: Dumbledore regularly dismisses the consequences of his plans on others, causing numerous other characters to lose faith with him or turn hostile. Slughorn mentions this has been an issue as long as he knew him.
* CoolOldGuy: An image he deliberately cultivates with his students, followers and the public.
* EveryoneHasStandards: [[spoiler: While he may be loyal to the Light, he is nowhere near as fanatical and self-righteous as Ra and his Light fanatics. After the Fourth Task, he considers Ra a madman that should be sealed away forever for the good of the world - especially if Osiris is sealed away with him - and states that he'd ensure that anyone who tried to make an attack against the Dark while Venice was frozen and the Statute was at risk would be considered a dangerous fool and sent to Azkaban to prevent them from causing any further harm.]]
* FatalFlaw: Pride. Dumbledore lost a lot of his arrogance after his experiences with Grindelwald, but his belief in his own genius was not one of them. Even as the shortcomings of his plans become apparent, he refuses to admit fault and rationalizes the blame on others.
* MotiveDecay: Dumbledore genuinely acts under the belief his work is necessary to fight Dark Wizards and ensure the future for the Light. However these acts are so self-serving and limited to a single section of the population that he comes off as a tyrant and a control freak to his critics domestically and abroad.
* OnlySaneMan: Generally Averted, but there are a few cases where he does demonstrate a somewhat level head and have a fairly reasonable assessment of a given situation (if only because other people are ''even more'' insane and delusional in comparison). As much as he might disdain Alexandra, he refuses to make any direct moves against her during the European Magical Tournament because it would violate several important treaties and magically binding agreements and lead to disastrous consequences (including his own arrest), noting that he would have to check up on Britain to make sure that the monumentally incompetent, corrupt, and idiotic Fudge wouldn't get those very ideas.
** [[spoiler:At the end of the Third Task, he also gives credit to Alexandra for helping Neville get second place in that Task and possible single-handedly preventing a possible instant and ultimate victory for the Exchequer right then and there, as well as recognizing that they had only accomplished this through sheer luck, in stark contrast to Ra who arrogantly believes that such a victory was inevitable due to the intervention of Fate.]]
* StrategyVersusTactics: Tactically Dumbledore is a terrifying opponent given the amount of magic power and knowledge he can call upon. Strategically he is considered rather average, with a bad habit of ignoring obvious conflicts (Tom Riddle's rise to power, Snape's teaching, Ministry corruption,) until it's too late.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Professor Flitwick]]
The Head of Ravenclaw House and former professional duelist, Flitwick is the Senior Charms Professor and tutors Alexandra in dueling during her spare time to ensure she can survive being attacked. His advice is often ignored by Dumbledore.
----
* LifeIsntFair: While dedication to one's craft is important, Flitwick rather bluntly explains the mysteries of magic are so unfair that any advantage acquired by skill or luck should be exploited shamelessly.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: He's ''the'' reasonable authority figure among the House Heads, being the one whom is most Independant and thus least controlled by Dumbledore. He repeatedly assists Alexandra when she's in trouble, such as ensuring that Alex Sykes is properly punished for his repeated attacks against Alexandra.
* RetiredBadass: He's a former dueling professional, and is has never been beaten by Alexandra. While not nearly as strong as Dumbledore, it's claimed that him fighting alongside the other heads of house would be able to stalemate one of the Exchequer's Knights.

[[folder: Professor Lockhart]]
* ObfuscatingStupidity: He's not ''nearly'' as foolish as he pretends to be. His idiocy is actually just a cover for his real purpose as a spy for [=MACUSA=].
* ThisIsGoingToSuck: Concludes a large conflict is inevitable upon learning the next generation of British Wizards have an unusual number of Lady/Lord level students. Most of which have no loyalty to Dumbledore or Voldemort.

[[folder: Professor Rincewind]]
A well-known name in the history books about the war against Grindelwald for his role in destroying the city of Dresden. He was able to get the job of [=DADA=] professor despite his enmity with Dumbledore because he was the only applicant.
----
* {{Animorphism}}: he is a orangutan Animagus
* TheButcher: He's called the Butcher of Dresden.
* HellFire: He's known for destroying the city of Dresden by bathing it in Fiendfyre.
* MasqueradeEnforcer: His main job with the ICW. Even his destruction of Dresden played into this, as he wiped out a good chunk of Grindelwald's top enforcers when he set the city on fire, and the statute was not endangered by this because sizable parts of Europe were already on fire at the time thanks to WWII.
* TheScapegoat: He gets fired after Dumbledore uses the Attack on Hogsmeade to claim that he's working for the Exchequer because of his absence. Never mind that the reason he wasn't in or near Hogsmeade that day to protect the students was because ''it was his day off'', and he had every right to leave the school to attend to personal business. It was especially hypocritical when one considers that in the previous two years, Dumbledore barely spent one day in six at Hogwarts during the school year.

[[folder: Professor Lupin]]
One of the Marauders, and the Professor of [=DADA=] after Rincewind's sacking. Despite being firmly a follower of the Light, he doesn't seem to hold any enmity towards Alexandra [[spoiler: until the events of Bloody Beltane]].

[[folder: James Potter]]
The infamous traitor who sold out the Longbottoms to Voldemort. He was locked away in Azkaban after the war, and his actions have caused a lot of problems for Alexandra. [[spoiler: In actuality, he was never a traitor - he was a failed spy, whose desperation to stop the Prophecy of Camlann resulted in Lily's death and Alexandra being left to the Dursleys.]]
----
* AllForNothing: James did everything he did as a Light Wizard to fight the Dark Powers. It amounted to nothing but destroying his reputation, getting his friends killed and his wife and daughter embracing Dark Magic with zero regrets.
* {{Animorphism}}: his form is a stag.
* DamnedByFaintPraise: James Potter's sole accomplishment was mastering an animagus form before his 18th birthday. At least six other characters are confirmed to have done the same thing in Hogwarts alone.
* EasilyForgiven: By Sirius, at least. It apparently only took one off-screen conversation for Sirius to accept him as a friend again.
* HistoricalVillainUpgrade: Like Sirius Black in the original books, his reputation as a criminal expanded over the years until everyone was certain that he was an Inner Circle Death Eater who played a part in everything not blamed on Voldemort or Bellatrix Lestrange when the only provable crime to his name was a single act of betrayal[[spoiler:,which he didn't actually do.]]
* TheMole: [[spoiler:A failed double agent that nobody knew was trying to be a double agent.]]
* OffingTheOffspring: [[spoiler: During "Bloody Beltane", after the Army of Light got to him, he attacked Alexandra along with Remus and Sirius in an attempt to kill her and restore the Potter family to the Light.]]
* TooDumbToLive: Is told that his life ''literally'' depends on acquiring his daughter's goodwill, but still fails to do more than ask for forgiveness and expect to be EasilyForgiven without showing any remorse for his actions or their consequences.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Sirius Black]]
Head of the Black family and the man primarily responsible for (and pretty much the only adult interested in) House Black's move to the Light, he was supposed to be Alexandra's godfather and guardian after Lily was killed and James arrested, but he renounced the oath over James' betrayal.
----
* {{Animorphism}}: his form is a grimm.
* DeadlyPrank: Owns Zonko's, which has been producing these under his management due to poor quality control.
* EasilyForgiven: By James, at least. It apparently only took one off-screen conversation for James to accept him as a friend again.
* InheritanceMurder: While he didn't technically kill anyone, he did [[spoiler:put his own brother in the long-term care ward at St Mungo's under an alias so that he couldn't challenge him for the family title.]]
* TheOathbreaker: The godfather oath was the only vow he was shown breaking, but the story implies it was hardly the only one, making him considered generally untrustworthy by the Wizengamot.
* SinsOfTheFather: Abandoned his infant goddaughter over the alleged crimes of her father.
* TooDumbToLive: [[spoiler: Upon receiving a deadly curse, instead of seeking medical attention, he decides to try breaking the spell by killing the caster, even though him using magic accelerates the effects of the curse. And then he tracks down and tries to murder the first suspect to come to mind, who happened to be innocent, so it wouldn't have worked even if he'd succeeded.]]

[[folder: Peter Pettigrew]]
Last and least of the Marauders, he dropped off the map shortly after the end of the Voldemort war, only to turn up again a decade later as a mercenary in the service of the Shadow Blades vampire coven.
----
* {{Animorphism}}: his form is a rat.
* AtLeastIAdmitIt: He isn't a good man, but unlike the other Marauders, he also doesn't lie about being a good man, to himself or anyone else.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Pettigrew serves neither Light nor Dark, only money. He works for vampires because they pay well and deal with him fairly.
* OnlySaneMan: While the other Marauders swore themselves to Dumbledore's crusade against the Dark wholeheartedly, Pettigrew concluded that [[LightIsNotGood Light is not necessarily good]], [[DarkIsNotEvil Dark is not necessarily evil]], and that the smart thing to do when Light and Dark actively war against each other is to get out of the line of fire.
* WhiteSheep: Least evil of the Marauders.

[[folder: Ra]]
The Archmage of Light and leader of the Army of Light. He's one of the oldest people alive, having been around during the rule of Ancient Keter.
----
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: Outside of the most fanatical members of the Light, Ra is nearly hated by ''everyone'' for his arrogance and extremist views about the Light. [[spoiler: It gets to the point where after the Fourth Task, ''[[FakeUltimateHero Albus]] [[ObstructiveBureaucrat Dumbledore]]'' considers him a madman and thinks that the world would be better off if he were sealed away forever.]]
* TheAce: Nobody serving the Dark has anything complimentary to say about him as a person, but with the possible exception of his brother Osiris, nobody is his equal as a wizard.
* {{Animorphism}}: His form is the phoenix
* BigBad: A strong contender for the position, [[spoiler:at least until the events leading up to his death end up unleashing something worse]].
* TheCorrupter: [[spoiler: Alexandra's conversation with Merlin reveals that before Ra was born, there was only one Light Power - Innocence. After Ra murdered his father and supplanted the throne of Egypt, he banished Osiris and began ritually corrupting all the other Powers to become aligned with the Light, forcing Osiris to do the same to the five Powers Ra had not already corrupted, making a total of six Dark Powers.]]
* CurbStompBattle: Say what you will about his hypocrisy and sheer idiocy, but he's still an Archmage from the time of Ancient Egypt. [[spoiler: When the six Dark Champions plus Eleanora try to fight against him, he gives them a few moments to show off their abilities... and then summons Excalibur and uses a FlashStep to instantly decapitate Yegor Poliakov and Teleklos Arali, and nearly does the same to Lucrezia before Alexandra interferes - and even just blocking the blade destroys Fragarach.]]
* HumanoidAbomination: Though he looks fairly normal, Alexandra claims that he throws off the very balance of Light and Dark thanks to his status as a phoenix animagus.
* {{Jerkass}}: Whenever he's around Alexandra, he's either rude and insulting towards her at best or outright looking for weaknesses to kill her with at worst.
* KinslayingIsASpecialKindOfEvil: Indirectly murdered all but two of his siblings to consolidate his hold on the throne of Keter. When he personally slew his sister to stop her efforts to aid Osiris in supplanting him, he was cursed for it. Now he can never rule anything directly, for the moment he claims the throne, the nation in question is doomed.
* LightIsNotGood: A racist, murdering hypocrite who has zero redeeming values beyond his brilliance, power and charisma.
* MysticalPlague: One of his favorite ways to wipe the board clean when the Dark gets too close to winning. He does this using the Holy Grail - or, as the Exchequer knows it, the Chalice of Plagues.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: The last ruler of Keter, an Egyptian nation that predated the Roman Republic.
* SanitySlippage: According to Osiris, he's suffered this along with weakening strength over the centuries after dying again and again, even after reviving thanks to his animagus form.
* SealedEvilInACan: [[spoiler: turns out that his brother wasn't the only one hosting the great enemy. Ra housed the Ka, or the life energy of a soul, while his brother has the Ba (the immortal soul) imprisoned within him. This is alongside several other fragments sealed in various places to prevent the great enemy - Apophis - from reconstituting itself. Naturally considering this is Ra we're talking about, he still manages to cock up, and the great enemy both starts it's own resurrection and retrieves the Ka without too much fuss on it's part.]]
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Before him, there was no such thing as Light or Dark. Each of the Thirteen Powers was totally independent. But then a certain Champion of Innocence decided to start binding other Powers to his own as a power play against his brother, forcing his brother the Champion of Chaos to do the same to counter him, and the escalation never ceased. So ultimately, everything is Ra's fault.

!!!Leaders

[[folder: Osiris]]
The King of the Exchequer and ruler of all the Dark Wizards and Witches who serve within the organization.
----
* TheAce: The greatest Dark Wizard in known history.
* ActuallyPrettyFunny: He's genuinely amused and (to a degree) even approving of Alexandra's increasingly ludicrous ways of winning tournament tasks and how she thoroughly smashes apart any expectations when doing so, though that doesn't stop him from acknowledging the problems that those actions can cause as well.
* ArchEnemy: To Ra and all organizations of the Light, including the Trinity and the Order of Light.
* BenevolentBoss: Surprisingly enough, he can be considered this at least to the Knights of the Exchequer, assuming they don't betray him. The only ones he's shown abusing and tormenting are the ones who betrayed him, like [[spoiler:Nicholas Flamel and Grindelward.]] Otherwise, while he certainly doesn't pretend to be a friend and won't refrain from belittling the Knights for their failures, he isn't abusive towards them out-of-hand and grants them a certain degree of independence with how they carry out their plans (so long as they follow his will). He even allows them to speak their mind, even if they disagree with him, and more often than not will give them honest answers and explanations in response without any hint of malice towards them for voicing their opinions.
* BigBad: A strong contender for the title, [[LightIsNotGood not that the light is much better.]] [[spoiler:Subverted, as the true BigBad is revealed to be Apophis (literally Great Enemy) from the days of Keter, with Osiris eventually making a HeroicSacrifice after Ra's mid-battle betrayal seals away three of Apophis' fragmented being inside of him.]]
* CrazyPrepared: He and his Knights have prepared a ''long'' time for the resurgence of the Dark against the Light, and have an almost innumerable number of contingencies to make sure that his organization will get its revenge.
* TheDreaded:
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Despite his clear evil, there are a few moral boundaries that even the ''Avatar of Darkness himself'' won't cross.
** Like many Dark Wizards, he's thoroughly disgusted by those who create Horcruxes, as they drive those who create them into monstrous and irredeemable insanity with no trace of good remaining, forever cursed by the Dark powers.
** He seems genuinely disgusted by how leading figures of the Light such as Ra and Dumbledore have dragged themselves down into mediocrity and led generations of young witches and wizards into doing the same, calling such an extensive, decadent failure utterly inexcusable. It's made very clear that he would have had a higher opinion of them if all they had done was oppose his ideals, even if he would have killed them either way.
** He might be a villain in many ways, but being an OmnicidalManiac decidedly ''isn't'' one of them (even if that's because he wants to share his vision to a world that will actually have living people in it). He is clearly disgusted by Ra's plague-causing artifact and wants nothing more than to see it destroyed.
* EvilTwin: Dark Twin, anyway, to Ra of the Army of Light. Neither really qualifies as good now, and it's debatable if either of them ever did.
* FauxAffablyEvil: While he speaks in a relatively casual, almost cordial tone, it does nothing to hide the sheer malice and darkness that lurks beneath that veneer.
** AffablyEvil: Though that being said, he is capable of communicating with some individuals such as the Queen, the Knights, and even Alexandra without that underlying malice, though he can remain amused and condescending nevertheless. [[spoiler:Ultimately played straight, however, after his HeroicSacrifice. Many of the Exchequer's members openly weep while watching Osiris walk into the Black Sun.]]
* HumanoidAbomination: While he may look like a human, the way he's described depicts him less as an extremely powerful dark wizard and more like an embodiment of pure darkness with all the power that entails. It should be noted that he's one of the few characters whose text is highlighted in bold, implying that he speaks with a VoiceOfTheLegion, a characteristic that is otherwise restricted to ''deities.''
* NecessarilyEvil: Somewhat played with, since [[BlueAndOrangeMorality the Powers aren't truly good or evil]]. However, as the Avatar of Darkness, Osiris commands the more destructive aspects of the cosmos. Played straight in the sense that Osiris is willing to bloody his hands and force major change on the world to stop Ra and repair the damage his brother has done. Also, for all the sacrifices Osiris is willing to make, [[ItsAllAboutMe Ra is prepared to and has done worse, and unlike Osiris, does so purely for his own glory]]. Morgana at one point even admits to the Champions that against Ra's worst, Osiris can barely manage to breakeven.
* PassingTheTorch: After [[spoiler:Ra's death and final betrayal]], Osiris surrenders his many positions, appoints Morgana and Alexandra as his successors, and then willingly enters the Black Sun to buy time for the Exchequer to find a way to defeat Apophis once and for all.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Like his brother, he predates the founding of Rome.
* SealedEvilInACan: Is allegedly the can holding something called the Great Enemy at bay, though the primary source of this was a statement from Ra made thousands of years ago, and by the present day he can no longer distinguish between alleged prisoner and alleged prison. [[spoiler:He is ultimately revealed to be ''one'' of the cans sealing away the Great Enemy.]]
* VillainHasAPoint: Say what you want about his motives and deeds, but he is spot-on when it comes to the arrogance and short-sightedness of the Light and the problems that it has caused them.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: Implied, given how his dialogue is written in bold.

After the rigged Potions Preliminary, he becomes Alexandra's potions tutor.

* TheAce: Lyudmila is a recognized magical prodigy, with a generational level of power to back it up.
* {{Animorphism}}: her form is Fenrir.
* CombatPragmatist: Once killed a Light Champion armed with a powerful relic by dropping an avalanche on him.
* TheDreaded: Despite still being a student of Durmstrang, Lyudmila has already proven capable of soloing entire squads of adult wizards with ease.
* EnemyMine: Despite being a dangerous competitor to other Dark champions like Alexandra and Lucrezia (and someone who has made it abundantly clear that she is no fan of the Exchequer), she willingly joins forces with Alexandra and the other members of the Night Court without any intention of sabotaging them whatsoever, because she hates the Light to a far greater degree and the Night Court is the only one with members who she actually respects (namely Alexandra).

----
* {{Animorphism}}: his form is Stymphalian Bird
* BloodKnight: As expected for a Champion of War. He's considered to be one of the more trustworthy Champions of the Dark, because he can be trusted to try and kill you in a (mostly) fair fight.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: His method of completing the first duel of the Second Task was invoking the blessing of Sobek, which was something already magically draining on top of contacting a god other than Ares - Osiris outright states that, had there not been blood, he would have died from Ares breaking their contract. Because of this, he's too exhausted to do anything during the second duel, making him look quite foolish.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He may be a bloodthirsty brute, but just like pretty much every Dark and non-fanatical Light champion who was present during the Third Task, he found [[spoiler:Frode Falk's attempt to murder Eleanora by pushing her into a moat of potions]] to be absolutely despicable and dishonorable.
* TheStrategist: It's easy to forget since he's sworn to Ares, who represents WarIsHell, and generally answers most of his problems with sheer brute force, but he's still the Champion of ''War''. [[spoiler: During the Boat Race of the Fourth Task, his plans ensure that Fleur Delacour is corrupted from being a Champion of Light to a Champion of Fire and kills Urmah Temen while BrainwashedAndCrazy in order to set off the Fourth Seal, and captures Frode Falke and his gondoliers to perform a ritual in order to set off the Fifth Seal without a death, before publicly handing Falke one of the Night Court's sought-after Aquamarine Keys in order to goad the Night Court into assassinating the Champion of Wisdom.]]

The Champion of Confusion, sworn to Seth, He's a student of Durmstrang.
----
* TheAlcoholic: Few things can stop Poliakov from drinking excessively.
* PeoplePuppets: During the fight against [[spoiler: Ra]], he's shown to be able to puppet the bodies of his enemies to fight against each other.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Teleklos Arali]]
The Champion of Corruption, sworn to Tiamat.
----
* HellFire: As shown in the fight against [[spoiler: Ra]], he can summon black flames that eat through magic shields and use their own magic to become stronger.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: [[spoiler: Among the Dark Champions, he has the least screen time, only appearing in a minor role during the fight against Ra before being decapitated by Excalibur.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mordred]]
She was the previous Champion of Death, Sworn to Morrigan.
----
* SamusIsAGirl: Mordred was a female, and the previous Champion to the Morrigan who was intended to succeed Morgan only for Arthur to kill her and ruin the balance.
[[/folder]]

!!!Light Champions

[[folder: Henri de Conde]]
The Champion of Order, Sworn to Horus. A student of Beauxbatons, member of the Trinity.
----
* {{Animorphism}}: his form is Light Falcon.
* TheCassandra: Almost every scene Henri has with other Light-aligned people features him trying to point out the flaws in The Light's making enemies out of neutral parties and being ineffectual against actual threats. The only people who listen to him are his parents, Eleonora, and maybe Neville.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Repeatedly lampshades the number of senseless deaths, unnecessary enemies, and collateral damage created by various Light factions.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Eleanora de Riva]]
The Champion of Innocence, Sworn to Vesta. Who stands out amongst the Light Champions as the most moderate. Student of Scuola Regina and member of Trinity.
----
* {{Animorphism}}: has the form of a Unicorn.
* ChildhoodFriends: She used to be this with Lucrezia Sforza. Unfortunately, [[spoiler: the attack that resulted in Lucrezia's brother being tortured to death]] caused it to suffer heavily, although at the very least they're able to maintain a civil relationship with each other.
* OnlySaneWoman: She, alongside Henri de Conde, is one of the only people to have an ounce of foresight in the Light. She denounces the actions of the Army of Light and the Order of the Phoenix as short-sighted acts of terrorism that only serve to drive more towards the Dark, while the Trinity works to prevent people from falling to the Dark in the first place. She's rightfully pissed at how the Trinity is forced to work alongside them despite the other two factions being a recognized terrorist group and a handful of vigilantes, respectively.
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler: As a result of Frode Falk's attempt to kill her by pushing her into a potion-filled moat, Eleanora retaliates by breaking Ra's plans to unite the Light Champions under Longbottom's Day Court by swearing loyalty to Alexandra's Court of Night instead. As Osiris notes, this has the potential to throw both Ra's AND Osiris' plans into complete chaos.]]
* TokenGoodTeammate: She's this to the Light in general, along with Henri de Conde. [[spoiler: During the Fourth Trial of the European Magical Tournament, Frode Falk being accepted into the Day Court of Longbottom means that she ignores Ra's attempts to collect every Light Champion on one team and instead becomes the first Champion to swear fealty to Alexandra's Court of Night.]]
* WoundThatWillNotHeal: As a consequence of being a Unicorn Animagus, killing her will result in a such a severe curse that even a wizard as powerful as Ra hesitates to act.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Lorenzo de Medici]]
The Champion of Unity, sworn to Athena. He's a student of the Scuola Regina, a member of the Army of Light, and one of the Champions of the European Magical Tournament.
----
* FantasticRacism: He insists that dark champions are born evil.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: The only thing truly noteworthy about him was the original manner in which he managed to get himself killed - [[spoiler: getting a Leviathan thrown at him]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Fleur Delacour]]
The Champion of Life, sworn to the Archangel Michael, and the daughter of Magical France's Prime Minister. A student of Beauxbatons.[[spoiler: After the Boat Race of the Fourth Task, she remains a Champion of Life, but is now sworn to Prometheus, and Fire.]]
----
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: Alexandra theorizes that this is the ''true'' reason why the Queen of the Exchequer spared her life. [[spoiler: With her alive and within the clutches of Romeo Malatesti, an Exchequer agent, they're able to use a ritual to do the same thing that Merlin and Ra did - they changed the alignment of the Power she was sworn to from Light to Fire, thereby rebalancing Light and Dark - 6 Light Powers, 6 Dark Powers, and one Power of Flame.]]
** [[spoiler: This also extends to after the transition from Light to Fire and her triggering the Fourth Seal, as despite her belief that the Exchequer will execute her shortly afterward or that they enhanced her fire magic to such dangerous levels using the [[PowerAtAPrice same]] [[CastFromLifespan methods]] as Ra, the Exchequer actually has further plans for her - namely, transforming her into a Phoenix animagus aligned with Fire, making her almost as unkillable as Ra and Merlin.]]
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: When the Exchequer captures her after the attack on Hogsmede, the Queen decides to punish her for her attempt on Alexandra's life by whipping her and then placing her under the Imperious to start an orgy in the boy's dorms at Beauxbatons. She explains this as because Fleur's father is the French Minister of Magic and thus killing her would be too politically messy, but Alexandra later theorizes that this is because [[CantKillYouStillNeedYou she's a factor in their greater plans.]]
* DatingCatwoman: She's repeatedly placed into this situation by others, first by [[spoiler: Lyudmila Romanov offering her a way back into the Tournament in exchange for going as her date to the Ball, and later by Romeo Malatesti bridal carrying her through Venice when she collapses from having her Power forcibly changed from Light to Fire.]]
* MagneticHero: Averted harshly due to her arrogance in her hardline Light attitude. It is lampshaded just how unappealing she is to many despite being a Veela.
* PlayingWithFire: [[spoiler: The machinations of Lucrezia Sforza, Romeo Malatesti, and the Exchequer result in her becoming a Champion of Fire.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Frode Falk]]
A student of Durmstrang and Champion of Wisdom, sworn to Frigg.
----
* AlliterativeName: Both of his names begin with ''F''.
* {{Animorphism}}: has the Animagus form of the Eikthyrnir. Stag which stand upon Valhalla.
* FantasticRacism: He smugly insists that dark champions are born evil.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler: He effectively stabs Eleanor Rivera in the back during the Third Trial, trying to push her into a pool of dangerous potions for no reason except for [[OnlySaneWoman her opinion of the Light]] contrasting to [[TautologicalTemplar his]]. She responds by breaking up the Light's unity during the preparations for the Fourth Trial, becoming the first person to join the Night Court and become a part of Alexandra's team.]]
* {{Irony}}: He's the Champion of Wisdom, but is so foolish and shortsighted that he constantly causes the Light problems.
* {{Jerkass}}: He sees himself as above everyone else, only cares about the Light dominating the Dark, and is perfectly willing to betray fellow Champions of the Light if he thinks they're not dedicated enough to the cause.
* LightIsNotGood: Being the only light champion to walk to the halls of Durmstrang does not make Falk a remotely moral person. If he has a single redeeming quality, he's hiding it well.
* TheMillstone: Between his dubious magical skills and his tendency to completely alienate both other Light champions and neutral parties, Falk often comes across as being actively detrimental to his cause.
* ShameIfSomethingHappened: He tells Eleanora and Henri that if they don't help him attack the Light champions, he'll have to tell Ra that their families are disloyal.
* SmugSnake: He boasts about his powers and his plans to take on the dark champions even though they've been dominating the tasks while he didn't even qualify to be a first-tier champion.
* TautologicalTemplar: As a firm believer in LightIsGood, he believes that since he's a Champion of Light, anything ''he'' does is good. [[spoiler: This includes, apparently, pushing another Light Champion into a pool of possibly deadly potions because of a difference of opinions on the Light's role.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Urmah Temen]]
Champion of Judgement, sworn to Marduk.
----
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Ends up as collateral damage during the second battle of the Carnival War.
[[/folder]]

!!Other European Magical Tournament Competitors

[[folder: Viktor Krum]]
* AcademicAthlete: Though his scholastic pursuits fail to match his athletic ones, Krum is no slouch when it comes to academics.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: Krum shamelessly uses his skills riding a broom whenever the option presents itself. Even his most sarcastic critics acknowledge how often this works for him.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ambre de Courtois]]
* GracefulInTheirElement: While lacking the overall power of the many other champions, when given a Task that matches her skillset, she is able to defeat or fight on par with more accomplished champions.
* WakeUpCallBoss: After a series of devastating victories by Wizards blessed by the powers, Ambre defeats one such champion purely through her knowledge of Runes. Slughorn openly notes she is a reminder that any champion selected by their respective schools (outside of blatant politics like the Slytherins) must have shown some feat of skill to be selected.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Karl Schumacher]]
* GreenEyedMonster: Was once friends with Victor Krum, but the relationship soured as soon as he proved to be the lesser wizard.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: Despite being a member of Durmstrang's monster hunting guild, he is seriously injured in the 1st Task fighting a powerful magical creature.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Giovanni Ruspoli]]
* BadassBookworm: He looks the definition of a bookworm - glasses, a mousy face, and he's constantly got his face in a book - but he's also an expert with fire magic.
* PlayingWithFire: His specialty. Despite his proficiency with it, however, he's rather unprepared for any situation that can't be solved with copious amounts of flame.
[[/folder]]

!!Ministry of Magic

[[folder:Cornelius Fudge]]
The British Minister of Magic. He's infamous for being in the pockets of just about everyone, so long as those pockets are well-lined with cash.
----
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Just about everything he does is this, but the events of [[spoiler: the Quidditch Cup stand out: not only did the Death Eaters fail to kill the Malfoys, but now the international reputation of Magical Britain is in the sewer and he's lost the support of everyone competent for consorting with Death Eaters.]]
** His use of the Consul Clause (also known as the Dictator Clause) in order to stay in power causes a lot of politically powerful people to disdain him.
* DirtyCoward: His short-sighted policies, willingness to sell his support to the highest bidder, and overall corruption stain his reputation enough that he has to invoke a wartime dictator clause to keep his seat as Minister, and he's lost the support of just about everyone who was backing him.
* SkewedPriorities: He sees the arrest of Alexandra Potter for killing Death Eaters as more important than the magically binding agreements signed for the European Magical Tournament... or the problem of the Death Eaters.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ludo Bagman]]
* SmarterThanTheyLook: Downplayed. Everyone views Ludo as a sycophantic loudmouth with no finesse or intelligence, but his own POV suggestions show that he does have some well-reasoned opinions about the preliminaries (although they're centered around gambling odds) and he makes a couple of reasoned comments during the inquiry into the World Cup debacle.
* TheGamblingAddict: Whatever success Bagman achieves is undercut by his inevitable losses on his numerous wagers.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Amelia Bones]]
The Regent of House Bones and former Director of Magical Law Enforcement, before getting sacked and replaced by Rufus Scrimgeor.
----
* ChoosingNeutrality: Along with the whole of House Bones, she became one of the Neutral Houses in the Wizengamot after the war.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She approves of Alexandra and Susan's relationship, so long as Alexandra isn't too blatant in her various illegal actions and keeps her enemies away from Susan.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Barty Crouch Sr.]]
* OnlySaneMan: Makes no secret how many problems are caused by Fudge, Dumbledore, and the Malfoys latest scheme.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Unlike in the books, Crouch remains alive while his son is killed (although some of Barty Jr.'s spirit seems to be left on Earth, being used for information by Bellatrix)

[[/folder]]

!!Death Eaters

[[folder:Voldemort]]

* DemotedToExtra: After the Chamber of Secrets, he ends up being relegated to being a secondary threat compared to the Exchequer and the Army of Light at best. His ultimate defeat is almost incidental, and isn't even because of any direct opposition to his plans: [[spoiler:the Exchequer destroys his Horcuxes, and Alexandra kills him, because if he dies to someone who ''isn't'' TheChosenOne, then TheChosenOne loses access to the power of Fate.]]
* EvilCounterpart: To pretty much every dark wizard alive because of his Horcrux creation. Creating even one is a sin the likes of Grindelwald finds disgusting and inevitably drives the creator monstrously insane.
* HistoricalVillainUpgrade: Inverted, European Wizards have a tremendously low opinion of him and the Death Eaters at large, especially as he publicly lost to a baby.

[[folder:Astrid Sverre]]
A distant cousin of Alexandra's from the Black side of the family, and the first relative of hers to ever actually treat Alexandra as kin, however distant.

* AnIcePerson: Specializes in ice magic.
* ProperlyParanoid: Trained herself to be able to recognize common potions that an enemy might illicitly dose one with by smell. This comes in handy when Cassiopeia Black treats her younger relatives to a meal, which is liberally dosed with a number of highly unpleasant prank potions.
