!The Fuzzy Knights

!!Mossfoot

A green teddy bear that's been all over the world. Leader of the Fuzzy Knights and GameMaster of the group.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Despite a somewhat cynical approach to Game Mastering, he's one of the most moral characters in the comic and will do his best to get along with everyone... but this doesn't mean he won't Get Dangerous when he needs to.
* EmbarrassingNickname: "M. F." or "MF." Mostly he hates it because he can't shake the suspection that it's meant to stand for something else...
* GameMaster: The regular GM for the group.
* TheHero: Emerges as this once the story gets going.
* OnlySaneMan: Of all the characters, Mossfoot's got the most common sense and will generally be the first to recognize it when things spin out of control.
* StraightMan: His main function in earlier strips.
* WalkingTheEarth: He's traveled all over the world, only in later years starting to stay in any one place for any length of time.

!!Violet

A purple teddy bear with a bow around her ear. A slightly violent chick who used to live on the street till she met Mossfoot and eventually moved in with him and became his girlfriend.

* BerserkButton: Like Sara from ComicStrip/KnightsOfTheDinnerTable, the easiest way to rile her up is to make sexist comments.
* BoisterousBruiser: Tends to play these kinds of characters -- fittingly enough, since she herself is a somewhat toned-down version of the trope.
* DeadpanSnarker: Probably the most sarcastic of the Knights.
* DungeonmastersGirlfriend: Averted. In spite of accusations, Mossfoot treats her just like another player on the table.
* HotBlooded: Her nickname isn't "Violent Violet" for nothing.

!!Target
A black and white toy cat who's the newest member of the Fuzzy Knights group (he was introduced in the second strip, as a replacement for Dog).

* BerserkButton: Hates LARPing. Given his home life, it's not hard to imagine why.
* ButtMonkey: He just can't seem to catch a break, and it's mostly played for comedy.
* CasanovaWannabe: Sometimes displays traits of this, to Violet's frustration.
* CatStereotype: Like so many other black and white cats in fiction, he's a lovable loser -- affable but timid and mostly unsuccessful at anything he attempts.
* CuteLittleFangs: He's drawn with them in the revival.
* DeadpanSnarker: Along with Violet.
* Foil: In the author's own words, he was introduced to the comic as a foil to Ben, and sometimes to Violet.
* TheKlutz: Despite being a cat, Target is hardly the epitome of grace. If someone falls down or inadvertently becomes the victim of a slapstick scene, it's generally him.
* HerCodeNameWasMarySue: Whenever he [=GMs=], the game tends to devolve into this, with one NPC powered up to an insane degree killing the [=PCs=]. When Mossfoot asks him what the kobold that just grew up three sizes and starting killing them with five attacks a turn looks like, he ends up describing his own appearance. He's actually not allowed behind the screen without a doctor's note.
* MeaningfulName: His temperamental Owner uses him as target practice to vent frustrations.
* LovableCoward: More in real life than in the game. It's more than hinted that he has some severe issues from living with an Owner who treats him as a punching bag, but of the four Knights, Target is the most easily startled and most likely to run away from danger.
* NaiveNewcomer: In early strips. He wised up as the comic went on.
* PyroManiac: Probably as a result of his pent-up anger issues. Give him a flamethrower, and he becomes lethal.

!!Ben
A toy rabbit and the Munchkin of the group, who speaks in a fake Scottish accent.

* CatchPhrase: "Hooty Hoot, Mon!"
* ChaoticStupid: Ben follows his impulses, no matter if it's a good idea or not.
* ConspiracyTheorist: In the revival, he's gone a little funny(er) after having been trapped in a cardboard box for years, and has started to claim that humans, cats and dogs don't exist and are just an invention of the "Secret Fuzzy Cabal."
* FakeNationality: Blatant in-universe example. He's not actually Scottish (he was made in China), but he'll insist that he is, playing up the accent and any stereotype he can think of... despite having a very shallow understanding of Scottish culture in general.
* FearlessFool: He has definite traces of this, both in-game and outside the game.
* LeeroyJenkins: He's very impulsive. Apparently he doesn't know any other way to play.
* Munchkin: Ben's a min-maxer who always chases experience points. His go-to character class is a bard because of the "jack of all trades" advantage.
* RascallyRabbit: By far the most mischievous and underhanded of the group, the one who comes up with Zany Schemes and tries to play ManipulativeBastard in order to get what he wants. Granted, he's a little too ChaoticStupid to be particularly good at it, but though his failures outnumber his successes it's never for lack of effort.
* SanitySlippage: He's prone to this, probably because his grip on sanity is already somewhat loose.
** In one game session he manages to go insane from isolation because his character was left alone for fifteen minutes.
** In the revival, his SanitySlippage is more understandable; the Fuzzy Knights have been stored away in a cardboard box for several years, and while Mossfoot, Violet and Target all went dormant and "slept" for most of it, Ben was alert and aware the entire time. When he's finally out of the box he claims to have "seen the truth in the darkness" and turned into a crazed ConspiracyTheorist.
* TheWonka: He's half this and half TooDumbToLive. His completely-impulsive play style often seems ridiculous, but he's extremely good at taking bizarre ideas and making them work... until he does something spectacularly stupid for no reason or instant gratification and ends up killing the entire party.

!The "Legion of Doom"

During F.I.G.H.T. in The Tournament War, [=HamaEstra=] assembled his own roleplaying group to participate. After the War, they more or less stuck together.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: As [=HamaEstra=] put it, the reason they're formed a team and banded together is because no one else would play with them for many legitimate reasons.

!![=HamaEstra=]

The BigBad of the first story, The Tournament War. Is a character of Fuzzy UrbanLegend for being a literal KillerGameMaster, using the games as a cover to perform gruesome experiments.

* AGodAmI: "I AM THE STORY!"
* APupilOfMineUntilHeTurnedToEvil: Frogerik taught him about the Story much like he taught Mossfoot. The hamster realizing his existence was dependent on human imagination did not turn out very well.
* DeadlyGame: Often turns his games as GM into these.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He can be very polite and personable when he wants to be, he's a brilliant motivational speaker, and knows exactly how to play people... but just when you start believing he might be genuinely AffablyEvil, he'll reveal he's been playing you all along. And do something horrible.
* KillerGameMaster: [=HamaEstra's=] claim to infamy is that he's not joking on the "killer" part.
* UrbanLegend: Among Fuzzies as the "Insane GM."
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Presents himself as this, and might even believe it himself.

!!Fembunny

That's not her actual name, but that's what she's referred to as in official material. Fembunny is a "game mercenary;" players and game masters hire her to do something during a game, such as fill in for a missing player (although this is the simplest case). She is introduced to the story when Target hires her to seduce Ben and steal all his magic items, and from there plays an important part in the Tournament War.

* BecomingTheMask: When she is introduced, she's hired to pretend to like Ben. Later, she develops an actual crush on him.
* FemmeFatale
* GratuitousFrench
** EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench
* NoNameGiven
* PunchClockVillain

!!Frug

An old member of Mossfoot's group (before Violet joined), joined the "Legion of Doom" during F.I.G.H.T. Hits on every girl Fuzzy in sight; attempting to hit on Violet resulted in her going Miss Piggy on him.

* CasanovaWannabe
* LovableSexManiac: For a given value of "lovable."

!!Dog

Another old member of Mossfoot's group; he was with them in the very first strip but was replaced with Target for the second, after which he was Mossfoot's doorstop for a while before joining the Legion of Doom. Mostly lives in his own little world with little or no idea as to what's going on around him.

* [[spoiler:BrainwashedAndCrazy: Thanks to a computer chip placed in his head by [=HamaEstra=], he briefly becomes highly intelligent, very verbose... and completely evil.]]
* Cloudcuckoolander
* DogsAreDumb: The main reason why he was kicked out of Mossfoot's group; he never understood what the game was about and would mainly just sit and stare vacantly into space instead of actually playing.
* HulkSpeak: His few spoken lines of dialogue tend to be along this line.

!The Philosopher Kings

!!Frogerik Bouchard

A frog Fuzzy that taught both Mossfoot and [=HamaEstra=] about the Story. Speaks like Yoda virtually all the time, he does. Leader of the Philosopher Kings roleplaying group in F.I.G.H.T..

* TheMentor
* StrangeSyntaxSpeaker: Talks like Yoda, he does.
* TricksterMentor: Certainly has shades of this.

!!Emmanuowl Nordrum

An owl Fuzzy, reported to be the smartest Fuzzy in the world, who leads a Fuzzy university in Oslo, and functions as "The Knowledge" of the Philosopher Kings.

* CannotTellAJoke: His intelligence doesn't extend to comedy.
* MisterExposition: Can become this at times.
* TheSmartGuy: Though there are no genius-level Fuzzies by human standards, Emmanuowl is as close as they come.

!!Pandrew Babb
A red panda Fuzzy who used to be the Head of the Fuzz Intelligence Agency, but is now retired. He's "The Cunning" of the Philosopher Kings, functioning is their tactician and strategist.

* GeniusBruiser
* RetiredBadass: He's famous for being the one who brought [=HamaEstra=] to justice the first time.

!!Jerry

A laid-back, multicolored bear Fuzzy who runs the local game store, "Jerry's Freakadelic Hobbies." He's the general conscience, or "The Heart" of the Philosopher Kings.

* BunnyEarsLawyer: You wouldn't think he'd be on level with the other Philosopher Kings, but he's more than able to keep up with them, despite his eccentric stoner behavior -- it's not as if he's ObfuscatingStupidity either, because his behavior never really changes even when things get serious.
* TheHeart: It's even his title: his role in the group is to make sure that the others don't get so caught up in their Big Plans that they forget their morals.
* TheSlacker: The only reason why he hasn't been fired from his job at Jerry's Freakadelic Hobbies is that he owns the place.
* TheStoner: Often seen smoking "something questionable," and otherwise has the act of a stereotypical stoner down pat -- though he shouldn't be underestimated.

!The Fuzz and Others

!!Captain Captain

* GondorCallsForAid: Is to one to [[spoiler:rally the Fuzzies in the pool hall to take on [=HamaEstra's=] army.]]
* TheMentor: To Mossfoot.
* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler:[=HamaEstra=] neglected to make sure he died personally, which really comes back to bite him later.]]

!!Kachooloo

An Elder God that Ben once summoned, but due to the circumstances of the ritual came out in a powerless plush form.

* DeathbringerTheAdorable
* EldritchAbomination
* SealedEvilInATeddyBear: Thanks to the botched circumstances of his summoning, he is trapped in a powerless plush body. [[spoiler:Last seen stealing Santa Claus's bag (confirmed to have dimension-crossing properties), killing Emmanuowl, and confronting [=HamaEstra=] in his new laboratory. However, we don't see how any of it plays out due to the series being CutShort. Which is particularly painful, given that last event was the only one that wasn't AllJustADream.]]
* TheUnintelligible
--> Mossfoot: Good grief, this is as bad as roleplaying with Dog.

!!Team Kitty

A four-person roleplaying group of Sanrio character figurines led by Kitty that participates in F.I.G.H.T. in the first story.

* CatchPhrase: "Do I see a unicorn?"
* BrownNote: To the [=REFs=].
* FailedASpotCheck: Mossfoot is right; he leaves a rock there and none of them notice.
* StupidGood: Unable to understand that violence sometimes is the solution, especially in a game like Hackmaster.

!Humans

!!The "Big Guy"ยจ
Mossfoot's Owner. A bit of a scatterbrain with a tendency to go off on tangents and not see what's right in front of his nose -- meaning that he doesn't really question how his mascots keep moving around. Then again, he may be a little more aware than anyone gives him credit for...

* AuthorAvatar: In the photo comics he's played by creator Noah J.D. Chinn, and is clearly intended to be Noah in-universe. The revival mentions that he's written a few sci-fi books during the Knights' time in storage, which the real-life Noah also did.
* CaptainOblivious: He lives in his own mind a lot of the time, meaning that he often forgets important details of his life or fails to notice very obvious things. There is the occasional hint that he knows more than he lets on, though it may just be his eccentricities talking.
* TheFaceless: His face is never seen.

!!Rebecca
The Big Guy's young daughter, born sometime during the hiatus. She technically becomes the Knights' new Owner after her father finds them in storage and decides to give them to her, and almost immediately afterwards (largely thanks to Ben talking to her in one of his SanitySlippage moments) she becomes the first (and so far only) human to discover that Fuzzies are sentient.

* CheerfulChild: Overall a pleasant, sweet-natured and sunny girl.
* NiceGirl: As Violet points out, after throwing Ben across the room during her initial freak-out discovering he could talk, the very first thing she did was to run over to him, pick him up in her arms and check if he was hurt. This more than anything shows how her first impulse is to help and comfort those in need.
* SecretKeeper: Is shaping up to be this for the Fuzzies. She does try to tell her friend that the stuffed animals she got from her father are alive, but the friend thinks she's just playing a game.
