!Allies

!!The Revolutionary Army

An anti-World Government organization, devoted to bringing the World Government down. The Straw Hats first draw their attention with the SBS broadcast, and by Enies Lobby, Cross has made contact with them and has agreed to become allies.
----

[[folder:General]]
* FullCircleRevolution: One reason why Cross rejects joining them outright; knowing how the Celestial Dragons originally overthrew their government to become the ruling party of the world and ended up corrupt due to generations of keeping themselves in power, he can easily see how the Revolutionaries could follow the same path. Dragon has foreseen this and has taken precautions, but accepts Cross's viewpoint.
--> '''Cross:''' After all, at the end of the day, 'revolution' means to go around in a circle.
* GiveMeAReason: It's pretty clear that a lot of the higher-ups ''dearly'' want to lend a hand in the War of the Best, but as Cross notices, it isn't their fight, and it might undermine the message of the Revolutionary Army to participate. As a result, the ''second'' that Sengoku admits that the Government is executing Ace just because he's Gold Roger's son and not for any of the legitimate crimes he committed, making the execution an act of tyranny instead of justice, Dragon, Sabo, Koala, Hack, and Karasu set off to join the fight.
* OffscreenTeleportation: However they got Cross from Water 7 to Baltigo and back in the space of a couple of hours.
* PublicSecretMessage: In Chapter 23, Cross utilizes the SBS to send a coded message to Sabo, phrased so that nobody other than his brothers and the Revolutionaries could discern its recipient, to tell him about his brothers.
* SideBet: There was a big enough betting pool about Dragon's family that when Garp spills the beans over the SBS, Koala wins enough for a lobster vacation in Pucci ''after'' donating half her winnings to the cause.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Dragon]]
!!Monkey D. Dragon, a.k.a. "Dragon the Revolutionary"
The enigmatic leader of the Revolutionaries and the Most Wanted Man in the World, as well as Luffy's biological father.

----
* AdaptationalBadass: While he is noted to be very strong to be known as the World's Most Wanted Man in canon (even though he hasn't fought yet so far onscreen/paper), this story establishes Dragon as having Observation and Armament Haki, and his EstablishingCharacterMoment when he arrives in Marineford is to treat ''Admiral Akainu'' to the business end of TheWorfEffect.
* AnArmAndALeg: He mangles one of Akainu's hands when he tries to kill Luffy and Ace.
* BigDamnHeroes: Shows up just in time to stop Akainu from killing his sons in Marineford. He also does this to Boa Hancock, saving her from [=CP0=] agents by grabbing them both by the necks.
* BulletCatch: He ''casually'' does this at the end of Marineford Misery, just before leaving the battlefield, to the point that it doesn't even merit a full sentence.
* TheDreaded: As the World's Most Wanted Man, he certainly is this to his enemies, and even to prospective allies. Even [=CP0=] agents are afraid of him when he appeared behind them to subdue them and save Hancock. Best summed up by Cross in the Post-Enies Lobby arc.
--> '''Cross''': "Dragon is scary."
** When he shows up in Marineford and stops Akainu from killing Luffy, Ace, or Sabo, ''two-thirds'' of the Marines still trying to pursue them decided to flee instantly rather than chance having to fight Dragon. And a lot of the Marines who ''didn't'' run only didn't because they were ''still frozen in fear.'' And considering he just treated ''Akainu'' to the receiving end of TheWorfEffect, they have ''every'' reason to run.
** In the Denouement, as Vivi's training in Alabasta, Crocodile shows up to offer his assistance training her, on the logic that the sheer chaos the Straw Hats bring will help him advance his plans. While the offer is (''very'' grudgingly) accepted, the mere mention of Cobra calling Dragon for help is enough to slightly cow the ex-Warlord.
* LikeASonToMe: Having practically raised Sabo ever since rescuing him from his death in the Goa Kingdom, he considers the latter to be a son to him, especially after finding out about his connection to Luffy, his biological son. Likewise, despite not quite having the same connection to Ace, he's more than content to include the younger man as a member of his family and treat him as another son.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Dragon to a T. He [[SignatureLaugh laughs]] like his son, grins like his son, and even refuses Cross's spoilers like his son. In his words, "Where would the fun be in that?"
* LikeFatherUnlikeSon: Inversely, he bears little resemblance to his own father, the boisterous Vice Admiral Garp.
* MeaningfulEcho: In Part 3 of Amazon Treachery, Cross notices to Koala (in a flashback) that the Revolutionaries didn't interfere in the canon War of the Best because it wasn't their fight, and that if any of them ''did'' show up, it would be because it was their decision to do so. Dragon's response when Akainu asks him why he's bothering to interfere is...
-->'''Cross''': "''Then fight for it, if that's what you wish. I'm not saying I don't want Dragon's help. If he decides to give it, then all the better. But that decision's up to him, and him alone. It's not mine to make.''"\
'''Dragon''': "I am here because it was my decision. Mine alone... ''and no one else's.''"
** Although the chapter "Denouement" notes that he actually also found a loophole in the Revolutionary Army's charter that allowed him (and the other Revolutionaries he brought) to join the struggle at Marineford: there actually ''isn't'' an official law in the World Government that [[SinsOfTheFather being related to a criminal is itself a crime]], so once Sengoku admitted that Ace was being executed only because of his blood-ties to Roger, that turned the situation from a legitimate punishment to an act of tyranny, and the Revolutionary Army is all about battling tyranny.
* PapaWolf: His reaction to seeing the horror's Lily Carnation inflicted on both Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates on Omatsuri Island, definitely qualifies him as this.
-->'''Dragon''': ''(in his thoughts)'' I know you won't lose, Luffy...but if you don't kill that monster for this, ''then I will.''
** Marineford later makes it clear that he also extends this to Sabo and Ace as well given their closeness to Luffy.
* ParentalSubstitute: Dragon for Sabo.
* ParentsAsPeople: On both the giving and receiving end -- he's aware that he wasn't exactly Parent of the Year for leaving Luffy with his own father Garp (who is this himself), and has a relationship with Garp himself that appears to be strained.
* SeenItAll: Dragon hardly bats an eye when Cross tells him his origins. To him, once you've seen all six of the seas, nothing surprises you anymore... except, perhaps, for Garp's stupidity.
* ShipperOnDeck: In Marineford Misery, Dragon tells Hancock that she has his blessing.
* SoProudOfYou: When Luffy and his crew shoot down the flag at Enies Lobby, effectively declaring war on the World Government.
* YouOweMe: He's on the receiving end when Cross decides to continue his interview with Saint Charloss for a full ''hour'' (just the first ''question'' made Cross puke), saying that Dragon will, for this, be in debt to him "until Merry has liver spots". Dragon personally calls in to the SBS to tell Cross he considers this WorthIt.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Koala]]
!!Koala
The Revolutionary Army's Fishman Karate assistant instructor and their contact with the New World Masons, and the only human member of the Sun Pirates.

----
* AdaptationalBadass: While she is very strong in canon (even though she hasn't fought much onscreen/paper), this story establishes her as having both Observation and Armament Haki, and was able to deliver a fight to Vice Admiral Strawberry that was for him ''at best'' a CurbStompCushion.
* AndIMustScream: Her fate as a child slave was definitely this.
* AndThisIsFor: Gets this on Vice Admiral Strawberry after subjecting him to a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown.
* BerserkButton: When Cross calls her 'cuddly,' she spends twenty chapters wanting to punch him in the face for it before actually doing so when they finally meet in person. But almost another twenty chapters later when they meet again and Koala brings it up, Cross forces her to drop the subject by predicting (correctly) that the first thing she did upon meeting Hachi again was to hug him.
** A ''far'' bigger one, as it turns out, is Vice Admiral Strawberry. The second she sees him, she goes from not participating in the Dead End Race to flat out telling Dragon that she doesn't really care what happens afterward or even if he sends her to Karasu (the Revolutionaries' head of discipline), she is going to pound Strawberry flat.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Lays a ''major'' one on Vice Admiral Strawberry for everything that happened with Fisher Tiger's death (Strawberry gave her parents the option of either her being MadeASlave again or them selling out Fisher Tiger).
* SickbedSlaying: On a different assignment while in Marineford, she sets out to find Vice Admiral Strawberry, still hospitalized after their battle, and executes him via a lethal injection. Also a BestServedCold since it brings closure and avenges Fisher Tiger's death.
---> "[[KarmaHoudiniWarranty You didn't really think you'd get away, did you?]] [[ExactWords An execution was promised today]], [[SickbedSlaying and I can't let you ever recover.]] [[MercyKill Maybe a lethal injection isn't the best way to end this…]][[YouAreAlreadyDead but what's done is done.]] [[BondOneLiner Say goodbye…]]"
* ThatManIsDead: Not Koala herself, but she flatly tells Chew and Kuroobi that she was friends with "A white-smelting fishman and a ray fishman who were also named Kuroobi and Chew." And that those two died along with Fisher Tiger.
** Subverted in the final chapter of the Sabaody Revolution, where she sees their sincere remorse and is willing to consider renewing ties -- ''if'' they continue down their path to redemption.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: Kuroobi and Chew are this to her thanks to the Arlong Pirates' actions. Though when they finally see the light and start down the path of penance, she encourages them and feels a little hope that they can be friends again someday.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sabo]]
!!Sabo
Luffy and Ace's adoptive brother and the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army, he lost his memory as a boy but had it kick-started thanks to Cross not long before Enies Lobby. Though he hasn't seen them for a decade, Sabo remains fiercely protective of his two less sensible brothers.

----
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: Since we're given everyone reacting to the SBS, Sabo appears earlier than in canon.
* AmnesiacHero: Sabo has no memory of his past like in canon and does not regain it until Cross sparks his memory with the SBS, specifically during the battle against Lily Carnation.
* AngerBornOfWorry: He yells a ''lot'' at Luffy and Ace when he shows up in Marineford -- understandable, since Akainu would likely have killed one or both of them if it wasn't for Dragon pulling a BigDamnHeroes.
* ArchEnemy: While the details are unclear, he seems to have a - ''history'' with Cipher Pol Zero.
-->"Ahhhh, Aegis 0! I'd say you bastards always show up at just the wrong time, but really, there's never a ''right'' time to look at your pasty skulls!"
* BigDamnHeroes: Shows up just in time to save Luffy and Ace from Akainu alongside Dragon in Marineford.
* OnlySaneMan: He's this of the ASL trio, but considering that he's up against ''Luffy and Ace'', this is really DamnedByFaintPraise.
* SayMyName: Screams out for his brother when he sees Luffy being impaled by the Baron's arrows.
* SoProudOfYou: Stand on a table and cheers when the Straw Hats destroy the Government Flag at Enies Lobby.
* ShipTease: One-sided on his part, at least. He apparently once tried to put up mistletoe on Koala's favorite route to the sparring arena around Christmas -- unfortunately for him, she caught him.
* SwornBrothers: With Ace and Luffy. Despite having amnesia of it for the past ten years, he wouldn't hesitate to put himself in unspeakable danger for them.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lindbergh]]
!!Lindbergh
Commander of the Revolutionary Army's Southern Army, a cat mink and skilled inventor.

----
* BerserkButton: He's this to his fellow Commander, Belo Betty. Namely, because he enjoys making her blood pressure rise until she tackles him.
* TheGadfly: He relishes on teasing Belo Betty regarding her jealously of Cross being able to inspire people and speak his words to change the world on the SBS.
* PantheraAwesome: He's a cat Mink.
* SteamPunk: Robin's first thoughts when she meets him are that he looks like belongs to a SteamPunk setting and somehow wound up in the Grand Line by accident.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Belo Betty]]
!!Belo Betty
Commander of the Revolutionary Army's Eastern Army. Her Pump-Pump Fruit allows her to awaken the potential to fight in any individual.

----
* GreenEyedMonster: She is jealous that Cross can inspire so many to fight despite being a base human, using only his words to change the world. The fact her Devil Fruit powers let her do the same but have never worked on the same scale leaves her envious of him, and implicitly sad that he can outdo her so much.
* HatesBeingNicknamed: Or at least, hates being referred to by a ''specific'' nickname -- "Betty Boop". Which either Cross or Soundbite is apparently responsible for, despite not being aware of her, as the one time it's brought up it's implied the name was mentioned on the SBS.
* PersonalityPowers: She is a member of the Revolutionary Army, who encourage people to help themselves. Her Devil Fruit lets her physically empower people to fight: helping people help themselves.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Emporio Ivankov]]
!!Emporio Ivankov
The Queen of the Kamabakka Kingdom, wielder of the Horm-Horm Fruit, and one of the highest-ranking officers in the Revolutionary Army. An old friend of both Dragon and Bartholomew Kuma, who has been working with Dragon for a very long time.
----
* FaintInShock: When Garp says over the SBS that Luffy is Dragon's son. Then subverted when Inazuma says that since Ivankov can control his hormones, he ''can't'' dramatically faint unless he means to (in this case, as an attempt to increase his alcohol ration for the day).
* GenderBender: Part of Ivankov's powers lets him/her inject anyone, including himself/herself, with gender-changing hormones. Ivankov can and does change between the two often.
* MyDefenseNeedNotProtectMeForever: When she's fighting Akainu in Marineford Misery Part 3, she's explicitly just trying to buy time. What Akainu doesn't realize until it's too late is that she wasn't buying time for Luffy and Ace to escape. She was buying time for Whitebeard to get within punching distance.
* PayEvilUntoEvil: Once Spandam has been tossed into Impel Down and brought to their hideout, Ivankov interrogates him for more information, in a particularly ''painful'' manner. And with relish.
-->'''Ivankov''': So, Spanda-boy, why don't you do me a favor and tell me ''aaaaall'' about whatever else was in that itsy, bitsy, eentsy, weentsy, little ''black book'' of yours? Juuust for starters, you know?
* SparedByTheAdaptation: A non-lethal example: He didn't get dosed in poison by Magellan this time.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Inazuma]]
!!Inazuma
The user of the Snip-Snip Fruit, he (usually) is a newkama and one of the officers of the Revolutionary Army, who works closely with Ivankov.
----
* AnimalMotif: Frogs; in Marineford Misery Part 2, the ice tank he makes after arriving in Marineford is a giant origami frog. Some species of frogs are also known to be able to switch gender.
* GenderBender: As Ivankov's right-hand person, Inazuma swaps between male and female with Ivankov's powers as much as Ivankov himself/herself.
* ShearMenace: Thanks to the powers of the Snip-Snip Fruit, he can turn his body into scissor blades and cut solid objects as if they were paper.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Hack]]
!!Hack
A brocade perch fishman, the Fishman Karate instructor of the Revolutionary Army, and a close friend of Jinbe.

----
* BigDamnHeroes: He shows up with Dragon, Sabo, and Koala to help Luffy and Ace make it out of Marineford.
* VitriolicBestBuds: A lighthearted version -- he and Jinbe argue when they see each other at Marineford, but it's clear that there's no real anger between the two of them and they are having a friendly competition.
[[/folder]]

!Pirates

!!The Thirteen Supernovas

"Supernova" is a term used for any rookie pirate whose bounty has exceeded ฿100,000,000. The current generation has produced an unprecedented thirteen Supernovas. (Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, and Nami are in their respective folders under "Straw Hat Pirates".)
----

[[folder:Eustass Kid]]
!!Eustass "Captain" Kid -- Bounty: ฿400,000,000
An infamous punk-styled man from the South Blue who has the second-highest bounty among the Supernovas. He ate the Magnet-Magnet Fruit.
----

* AxCrazy: He achieved his bounty through sheer brutality, racking up a massive body count.
* BadassBoast: When he arrives at Marineford, he makes one thing clear, to everyone.
-->"Thought you knew better than this by now, Straw Hat. You're not the only crazy bastard who wants to hog the spotlight! We're the superstars of this age! ''THIS IS '''OUR ERA!'''''"
* ButtMonkey: Despite having the second-highest bounty of the Supernovas and his AxCrazy personality, the other Supernovas and their crews don't fear him, nor do they show him much respect. They even give him the AndZoidberg treatment when they're feeling cheeky. Though it may be ''because'' of his high standing, the better to show that they don't consider him more than an equal if that.
* CanonMarchesOn: Exactly what happened to Kid's original ship is unknown; what is known is that after the events of ''Anime/DeadEndAdventure'', he commandeered Gasparde's steamship, ''Salamander'', which he rechristened ''Iron Tramp''. However, when supplemental material for canon revealed that Kid's original ship ''Victoria Punk'' was named after Kid and Killer's first crush, and that they became pirates after overthrowing a gang that murdered her, the Cross-Brain retconned the renaming to ''Victoria's Revenge''.
* CoolBoat: ''Victoria's Revenge''. Unique from every other Supernova's ship in that it's a reinforced, mighty steamboat.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** Kid is a complete {{Jerkass}} with very few redeeming qualities, but he harshly disagrees with Shiki's speech in the Strong World arc; more specifically, the notion that the weak should bow to the strong simply because they are strong. While Kid does agree with the idea of MightMakesRight, he believes the strong have to ''earn'' the respect of allies and enemies, and that those who demand respect without earning it only want mindless sheep.
** Similarly, he shows blatant disgust towards Doflamingo and Blackbeard while encountering them at Marineford. With the latter, it's partially because Teach is a rival for the throne, but Kid also seems to dislike him instinctively.
* GoryDiscretionShot: During the Supernovas' assault on the marine blockade separating them from Sabaody, he and his crew get particularly...''creative'' with their attacks on the hostile privateers, forcing Cross and Soundbite to blur their actions during the broadcast. For reference, whatever they were doing was apparently illegal to show in at least 153 of the nations that were part of the World Government at the start of the story. At one point, Cross had to go offscreen to vomit because he was so horrified and disgusted by what he saw.
* HateAtFirstSight: Just like Luffy, he admits that Blackbeard, for some reason, just ''pisses him off'', and can't even explain why.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: For a given measure of "hero" anyway: His crew, instead of the Straw Hats, were the ones involved in ''Anime/DeadEndAdventure'': he killed Gasparde, appropriated his ship, and recruited Shuraiya, Adelle, and the old man in the engine room to his crew.
* HiddenDepths: In a deleted scene, it's revealed that Kid isn't the DumbMuscle type like Luffy and Bartolomeo. ''He's'' the one who handles his crew's finances. Killer confirms the claim and admits he's very good at it.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He insults Merry and other child members on the principle that 'little girls' shouldn't be part of a pirate crew, despite having a child on ''his'' crew. He justifies it by saying that Adelle is supposed to stay out of the action and he only keeps her around because of her engineering skills and her BadassNormal brother.
* MagnetismManipulation: The power of his Devil Fruit, the Magnet-Magnet Fruit. Even Pacifistas aren't safe from him.
* MightMakesRight: Genuinely believes this, but also played with in that he doesn't think the weak should just roll over and take it either. In his eyes, ''everything'' gained through strength is earned. Spoils, allies, and enemies alike.
* MyFriendsAndZoidberg: Cross gives him this treatment thanks to his {{Jerkass}} attitude during Skelter Bite. Especially when setting up the BarBrawl.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Again with the term "hero" used lightly: if it wasn't for him and his crew attacking Blackarm Island and reaffirming the head instructor's hatred of pirates, the New World Masons could've gotten another executive.
* NoodleImplements: He did ''something'' involving a potato peeler and a corkscrew that jumped his bounty to ฿110,000,000 shortly before the Straw Hats left Little Garden.
* NoodleIncident: He was involved in the [[Anime/DeadEndAdventure Dead End Adventure]] and has [[AscendedExtra Biera & the Bascùd siblings Shuraiya and Adelle]] as part of his crew.
* PetTheDog:
** In his usual {{Jerkass}} way, Kid states to Ace's face that he won't be giving the guy grief above who his dad is. Roger's technically a hero for pirates after all.
** Also, while it's largely so that the pirate alliance can go raid other slavers (and make more money) quicker, him opening the locks on all of the slaves in the first 'pen' with his powers still qualifies.
* SirSwearsALot: Guy's got a massive potty mouth, even by pirates' standards, and he ain't shy about opening it.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: On one side, he doesn't like the idea of working alongside Cross or other pirate crews, but does so thanks to Cross's plan on how easy and profitable robbing slavers can be. On the other side, Cross considers him a literal monster and would like nothing more than to see him dead but [[CantKillYouStillNeedYou realizes even a violent jerk like him can still be useful if properly directed and motivated.]] He even acknowledges that he sees Kid the same way the World Government sees Akainu: Someone they would like nothing more than to put away for their rampant destructiveness, but also someone with strength too important to get rid of. This trope lessens during the Slaver Raids, when he uses his magnet powers to unlock all the slave collars at once, leading to Cross calling him "captain" without quotation marks... and Kid acting a little more civil from that point on.
* VillainRespect: Has nothing but respect for Luffy and his crew, calling the Straw Hat Pirates the gold standard of their generation.

[[folder:Trafalgar Law]]
!!"Surgeon of Death" Trafalgar D. Water Law -- Bounty: ฿375,000,000

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Basil Hawkins]]
!!"The Magician" Basil Hawkins -- Bounty: ฿288,000,000
A stoic man from West Blue who ate the Straw-Straw Fruit and wields what seems to be real magic.

----
* ChickMagnet: During the party on the Amazon's island, he implies that his "Mysterious" nature and "Magic fingers" make him highly attractive to the opposite sex.
* EnemyMine: He allied with Drake to fight Gecko Moria.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: He was involved in the events of [[Anime/TheCursedHolySword Asuka Island]]. Saga and Maya apparently came out of it in good health, and Hawkins managed to obtain [[EvilWeapon Shichiseiken]] itself as a "crew member."
* HollywoodVoodoo: Hawkins knows both Voodoo and Hoodoo and states that, yes, there ''is'' a difference. This knowledge comes in handy when Ace makes sure Blackbeard won't get his hands on the Tremor-Tremor Fruit.
* NotSoStoic: His reaction to the Gaon Cannon.
* SpannerInTheWorks: For Blackbeard. It's by using his abilities and the blood on Luffy's back that Ace is able to ignite and burn Whitebeard's corpse before he can steal the Tremor-Tremor Fruit. If Hawkins hadn't been there then Blackbeard would've claimed the fruit and continued on his canon path to becoming one of the Four Emperors during the TimeSkip.
* TarotTroubles: Every scene up to Skelter Bite has involved him doing a tarot reading and a few after as well.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Capone Bege]]
!!Capone "Gang" Bege -- Bounty: ฿277,000,000
A Mafia boss turned pirate from the West Blue. He consumed the Castle-Castle Fruit, which gives him the ability to turn his body into a living fortress.
----

* BloodKnight: When Blackbeard vows revenge against Ace, Luffy, and the rest of the Supernovas, Bege is delighted to have made such a [[PersonOfMassDestruction powerful]] enemy.
* FriendToAllChildren: He decides he's this after saving a ship full of child slaves. While he was partially motivated by the prospect of stealing the slaveowner's riches, he admits saving the children was the more satisfying part of the endeavor.
* RefugeInAudacity: After finding out Nami attempted to pickpocket him, [[YouGotGuts he compliments her moxie]] and invites her inside himself to see the Fort Lumose horde and his other trophies, confident that stealing anything will be impossible. When Nami says that that sounds like a challenge, he confirms that it was.
* SignatureLaugh: ''"Gehgehgehgeh!"''
* VillainRespect:
** Thanks to the SBS of the invasion of Enies Lobby inspiring him to rob the in-universe version of Fort Knox and getting away with a quarter of the Marine's liquid assets, he admits that he owes a debt to the Straw Hat Pirates.
** He later tips his hat to Nami who, against all odds, managed to steal a single Beri from him while inside his body- something he explicitly said was impossible. Earlier, he said that her moxie for trying to pickpocket him would have been enough for him to hire her if she was available (after breaking her knees for doing so, but it'd be just business).

[[/folder]]

[[folder:X. Drake]]
!!"Red Flag" X. Drake -- Bounty: ฿266,000,000
A stoic "former" Marine Rear Admiral empowered by an ancient Zoan fruit that turns him into an Allosaurus. Beyond that, not much is known about this powerful pirate.
----

* CovertPervert: Boa Sandersonia insists he is one, though he denies it and claims his attraction to her is simply because they have similar Zoan forms.
* DefectorFromDecadence: He faked doing this when he first became a pirate. Then, the events of the story and eventually Marineford causes him to do this for ''real'', with him loudly exposing his undercover status and then declaring his official resignation from the Marines at the latter.
* DoubleTake: In an official omake, he briefly makes one when one of the slavehouses on the Sabaody Archipelago is openly advertising they sell slaves, unlike, in his and Sandersonia's own words, ''literally everyone else'' they had raided so far.
* EnemyMine: He allied with Basil Hawkins to fight Gecko Moria.
** In the second part of the Denouement, he suggests to Trafalgar Law that he wants in on the alliance the Straw Hats set up with Law, in the interest of bringing down Doflamingo.
* HeroismMotiveSpeech: In Part 4 of Marineford Misery, he makes one of these to all of Marineford after he attacks Sentomaru -- and it is ''epic''.
-> '''Drake''': "He's surprised because [[DefectorFromDecadence up until now?]] [[BrutalHonesty I was an undercover Marine assigned to infiltrate the pirate world so I could bring down an Emperor from the inside]]."\
'''Kid''': "And what, ''exactly'', is stopping me from ''skinning your traitor ass alive'' and turning your scaly hide ''into my fucking codpiece''!?"\
'''Drake''': "Because that was all before. Before I got a good look at the group that I'm already a part of. Before I saw what my old flag ''thought'' [[WrittenByTheWinners justice was worth]], and what they were [[KnightTemplar willing to do to achieve it]]. [[SinsOfOurFathers I joined the Marines because I wanted to be better than my old man]], I wanted to be somebody who was ''worth'' something. But now… [[CharacterDevelopment now, I know that I was]] ''wrong''. I don't have to be better, I ''am'' better. So let's make this fact clear, no mistakes or doubts about it! From this day forth, I ''resign'' from the Marines! [[DefectorFromDecadence Utterly, irrevocably]]! I'll take justice into my own hands, and enact it under my own initiative! I will ''never'' let someone dictate right or wrong to me again! And make no mistake, unlike my father, [[IGaveMyWord I don't intend to break my word]]: [[ForGreatJustice I'll still do my duty]], I'll bring the Emperors to heel… but on my ''own'' terms."
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: After getting fed up with allying with the Straw Hats from suffering the wrong end of a Curb-Stomp from Kizaru, he vehemently declares he's done helping them, and is looking fit to tear them a new one, until he's met with a mass DeathGlare from the Straw Hat crew, who have just learned that Ace has been captured and set to be executed. Realizing they were in the same murderous mood they were in when they faced Shiki, he just quietly walks away.
* SideBet: Won one amongst his fellow Supernovas in that Cross and Apoo's rivalry over the SBS was all an act since as a former Marine, he figured that Vegapunk's creations couldn't be hacked that easily.
* TakeThisJobAndShoveIt: Much like with many other Marines, Marineford proves to be the last straw for him, and he officially resigns from the Marines (and his status as a mole for them) during the battle.
* TranquilFury: When he and Law are interrogating a slaver to the whereabouts of a child slave, the slaver in question makes the unwise decision of saying it was "Just a slave".
->In response, Drake's expression and demeanor returned to calmly impassive. His hand grabbed the slaver's head—\
''THUNK!'' "GAAAH!"\
—bounced the slaver's face off the top of the barrel between them, cracking its lid clean through.\
"That was wood," Drake drawled impatiently, ignoring the slaver's howls as he cradled his shattered nose. "The next one will be metal. Let's try again, before I have to get ''insistent''."
* VillainRespect: When the Straw Hats are broadcasting their performance of ''Bink's Brew'', Drake grumbles to himself that they're just more pirates... who are making it very hard for him ''not'' to respect them.

----

* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: Not with [[spoiler:Kuma]], but with the Pacifistas. In canon, she attacked the Straw Hats for destroying one [[spoiler:because it was built in the image of her adoptive father, Bartholomew Kuma]]. Here, she enthusiastically tries to destroy the Pacifistas, [[spoiler:as she considers them an insult to Kuma's memory]].
* BigEater: It's all in her epithet, and Cross explicitly says that her appetite rivals Luffy's.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: After taking over said Marine base, it should be repeated, she uses a Transponder Snail to ''mock an already-enraged Sengoku.'' [[spoiler:Being really a ten-year old child, she would be prone to insult those much older than her, consequences be damned.]]
* EnemyMine: She raids a Marine Base alongside Trafalgar Law. They then play Jenga using Marines in place of sticks.
* EvilGloating: After taking over a Marine Base, she calls Sengoku on one of its snails ''just'' to rub it in his face. And, as shown by the following quote she was also planning on doing the same to Admiral Akainu, had he not been already deployed by the Five Elder Stars to hunt down Bartolomeo.
-->''"I've wanted to tell that golden bastard [Sengoku] to fuck off for ye-e-eaaars, hahaha! The only way that could have been better, the only way, would have been if that damn volcanic mutt had been there too, because then my year would be utterly made!"''
* KickChick: If her fighting during the BarBrawl on Skelter Bite is any indication, and she's able to use it to match Franky's boxing.
* MadeOfIron: When she was struck in the head by Abel Tasman, who was sent flying by Foxy towards her direction during the Dead End Race, she didn't even ''budge'' while Tasman's spine ended up broken on impact.
* SignatureLaugh: ''"Zazazaza!"''
* UnderestimatingBadassery: PlayedWith. When she overhears Cross state that she's headed for back-to-back encounters with Blackbeard and Akainu, she thinks she has nothing to fear from "some nobody she's never heard of," but decides to stay on her toes anyway because she knows Akainu is bad news and she doesn't want any part of that. However, when the Supernovas rescue Luffy and Ace at Marineford, she gets to see Blackbeard in action, thankfully from a distance, and she realizes going up against him would have been a death sentence.
* VagueAge: She is often seen in her early twenties. However, due to her ability to become younger and older (as well as alter the ages of those she touches), her real age is unknown. [[spoiler:Turns out she is actually ''ten years old'' pre-time skip, making her both the youngest pirate captain and Supernova.]]
* WouldHurtAChild: She doesn't hesitate to inflict this on Sentomaru, who got de-aged by her Devil Fruit power, so that he will withdraw from Marineford with Kuma. [[spoiler:Since she's really a child herself, it is fair game for her. Though given her history with Sentomaru, she might have done it so [[CruelToBeKind no one else could REALLY hurt him]].]]

----

* AnimalCompanion: Confides in Nami and Conis that, having been inspired by the Straw Hats, he's been looking for one of these to add to his crew, but hasn't found one that can keep up with him yet.
* TheBigGuy: He is the largest Supernova.
* DirtyOldMonk: For a supposed fallen monk, whatever he got up to at Kyuka Island gave the Marines the shivers and Vivi a {{Nosebleed}}. [[note]]In Creator/EiichiroOda's actual SBS, when he listed the hobbies of the Worst Generation, one of Urouge's was lovemaking.[[/note]]
* HypocriticalHumor: On Sabaody, he makes a remark to Luffy and Scratchman Apoo that a man of the cloth should limit how much earthly wealth he should acquire in order to justify taking a break from looting to visit the theme park. Apoo is quick to note that Urouge spent the entire morning enthusiastically robbing the local slavers.
* {{Manchild}}: Nami and Conis meet him in Skelter Bite and realize much to their exasperation that he is an overgrown kid.
* NoodleIncident: What he ''did'' at Kyuka Island managed to give shivers to the ''entire Navy'', gives Vivi a nosebleed just from reading what happens, and has Cross and Soundwave "do the Takei" (AKA ''Oh Myyyyyy'').
* ReligiousBruiser: He may be known as a fallen monk, but Urouge still seems to adhere to his faith. And he's more than happy to declare it while clobbering his enemies with his pillar.

----
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: Has two arm-scythes as his weapons.
* ChairmanOfTheBrawl: He is the recipient of a chair across the face courtesy of Cross to begin the Supernova BarBrawl. Naturally, during said brawl, he guns for the third mate's hide.
* HypercompetentSidekick: Kid's reckless at the best of times, hence his good buddy Killer ensuring he doesn't overdo it. Like, say, when a recently resigned Boa Hancock is standing in front of the Supernovas, daring them to call her the Government's "bitch" and Kid opens his sneering mouth... only to get a chop to the throat.
--> '''Killer:''' We're alive, for a miracle, and I won't let you ruin that with your ''big fucking mouth.''
* MirrorCharacter: Has a moment on reflecting on this characteristic with Gin in Skelter Bite.

The most infamous pirate crew to ever live (except ''maybe'' for the Straw Hats), who sailed under Gol D. Roger himself, the first Pirate King and the man who inspired the Great Age of Pirates.
----
* BadassCrew: The weakest of the bunch that we know about is Buggy - and ''he's'' an AdaptationalBadass who can fight the likes of Mihawk.
* TheFellowshipHasEnded: They went their separate ways shortly before Roger's execution, when he disbanded them and decided to turn himself in.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:'''Spoiler Character''']]
!!"Pirate King" Gold Roger
Real name Gol D. Roger, Captain of the Roger Pirates, Portgas D. Ace's biological father, and the greatest pirate to have ever lived. Though long dead, Soundbite's abilities allow him to interact with the world once again, though few are aware of it.
----
* ArchEnemy: To "The Golden Lion" Shiki, and the feeling is mutual. Shiki's entire plot in Strong World is driven by his lingering grudge against Roger, while Roger went out of his way to taunt Shiki right before his defeat at Luffy's hands.
* ChangeTheUncomfortableSubject: In the flashback mentioned in NotMeThisTime, when Whitebeard demands he fix the Oro Jackson's accidental stripping of the Moby Dick's paintjob, he (poorly) pretends that a "weird current is carrying the Roger Pirates away".
* TheDreaded: Even after his death, he can still strike fear into the hearts of veteran pirates and marines alike. Him calling into the SBS during Ace's rescue effectively freezes a majority of the battlefield.
* IRegretNothing: Downplayed. While he had no issues with how he lived his life or how he ended it, after he died, his ''one'' regret is that his actions caused so much trouble and grief for his son.
* NotMeThisTime: During a flashback in Part 3 of Marineford Misery, he says to Whitebeard that he wasn't responsible for drinking his booze - it was Shanks, that time.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: He never regretted any of his actions in life, at least while he was alive, as far as we know. With that said, his call into the SBS during the battle of Marineford has him audibly sighing and regretful, implicitly over how his all the things he did came back to cause problems for Ace. Whitebeard, who was his FriendlyEnemy and knew him very well, implied that getting to hear Roger regret ''anything'' was a first for him.
* ParentsAsPeople: He really does love Ace, but he's also completely aware that a lot of the suffering his son went through was because of the choices Roger made before he was born. It's the only thing he's ever truly regretted, which he confesses during the Battle of Marineford, and asks Luffy to save his son as recompense. Ace himself struggles with learning this -- while he's already disowned Roger and claimed Whitebeard as his true father, he's still touched and genuinely happy to learn that Roger truly loves him. Ultimately, in the epilogue, it's revealed that Ace has finally made peace with being Roger's son thanks to the events of Marineford, and has gotten a tattoo of his biological father's Jolly Roger on his neck to pay homage to him, suggesting that he's finally forgiven Roger for everything.
* PhoneCallFromTheDead: How he interacts with the world, due to being a PosthumousCharacter -- he calls into the SBS via Soundbite.
* PosthumousCharacter: He's long dead by the start of the story, but is still watching the ongoing events from the other side, and even intervenes occasionally through Soundbite.
* SmallRoleBigImpact:
** In the Enies Lobby arc, he's the one that gets Luffy up back on his feet to finish off Lucci, by reminding him that Lucci will kill his crew if he doesn't.
** During Marineford, his call on the SBS shocks everyone and freezes the battlefield long enough for Jinbe to remove the seastone bullet in Luffy's leg unimpeded, and leads to Sengoku telling Isuka to kill Ace, which gives her the opportunity to blow the execution stand up and run for it.
* SoProudOfYou: Not to Ace, but to Luffy. He explicitly tells Luffy (and thus the world) during the Marineford that he's done Roger proud with all his accomplishments, almost explicitly acknowledging Luffy as his chosen successor.
* TheVoice: As he's long dead, he is only 'seen' as a voice projected through Soundbite. Even then, it seems ''no one'' was aware of this until Marineford, Soundbite included, due to Roger taking care to only speak during moments where he wouldn't be noticed by the rest of the world and where his voice could be confused as something else, such as a hallucination.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Serra]]
!!Serra
An OriginalCharacter, Conis's mother, and a former member of the Roger Pirates before their disbanding. She left Skypiea when Conis was much younger to sail the Blue Sea, inspiring her daughter Conis many years later to do the same with a different crew.
----
* BerserkButton: Downplayed overall, but a good way to send her into a TranquilFury is to insult or disparage her love for Conis and Pagaya.
* CanonMarchesOn: Is said to have set off with the Roger Pirates 20 years before the story takes place, when Conis was 4 years old. The year after her introduction, the One Piece Vivre Card databooks established Conis as 19 pre-timeskip. Two years after that, we learned that Roger visited Skypiea a year before he does in ''This Bites!'' The authors edited and retconned the backstory to accommodate this, instead having her set off with Roger while she was still engaged to Pagaya, return to the White-White Sea four years later, and leave again a few years later for her own journey.
* CuteBruiser: Like Conis, her strength effectively quadrupled when she left the White Sea thanks to all the extra oxygen at sea level.
* TheGhost: She has yet to appear in the main storyline, save in the "Crossing the Rainbow Mist" special.
* LikeMotherLikeDaughter: Conis is similar to her in many ways, judging by her reaction when the two met in the "Crossing the Rainbow Mists" chapter.
* OddFriendship: Develops this with Vivi's mother, Nefertari Titi.
* ParasolOfPain: Instead of guns like Conis, her weapon (from what we know) seems to be a parasol/umbrella.
* ShoutOut: Presumably named after Serra, the [[TabletopGame/MagicTheGathering Planeswalker]] famous for creating a realm filled with angels.
* VillainRespect: Shiki respects her on the way she fought alongside the Roger Pirates.

[[folder:Shakuyaku and Silvers Rayleigh]]
!!Shakuyaku and "Dark King" Silvers Rayleigh -- Bounties: Unknown

A pair of retired pirates who live on the Sabaody Archipelago and run the Rip-Off Bar. Shakuyaku is a former captain/empress of the Kuja Pirates, and Rayleigh is the former NumberTwo of Gold Roger, the first Pirate King.
----
* BigDamnHeroes: Rayleigh was apparently getting ready to do this during Strong World, along with Mihawk and Shanks, if the Straw Hats lost to Shiki.
** Slightly subverted in Chapter 69 when he cuts Doflamingo's strings that were controlling everyone in the Auction House to prevent any more damage, although some had already been done.
** Played straight the next chapter when he finally stops Kizaru when he intends to kill everyone that is opposing him.
* BullyingADragon: The World Government is defying this in how they handle Rayleigh -- the Navy pretty explicitly knew where he was even before the Sabaody Revolution, but decided against provoking him, since he wasn't really doing anything to cause problems for them. As Kizaru puts it after Rayleigh chucked him into the Elder Stars' chamber...
--> "…I can officially corroborate all reports putting 'Dark King' Silvers Rayleigh's current residence in Sabaody Archipelago. And I'm officially backing the conclusions of every analyst that said that acting on that information would be a ''very'' bad idea."
* DueToTheDead: Both Shakky and Rayleigh have a toast in honor of Whitebeard when he dies.
* LetsGetDangerous: Apparently, the only reason Rayleigh fought Kizaru to a stalemate in canon was because Kizaru was just trying to capture the Straw Hats (and here, the Supernovas). When Kizaru decides he's going to ''kill them'', Rayleigh doesn't hold back and chucks Kizaru all the way to the Five Star Elders' chambers in Mariejois.
* RetiredOutlaw: Both of them haven't been active pirates in the last 20 years or so, but this doesn't seem to pose a problem for them. The World Government, surprisingly, decides to let them have it, figuring that [[BullyingADragon annoying them]] would end badly... as Kizaru finds out.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Buggy The Clown]]
!! Buggy "the Clown" – Bounty: ฿15,000,000
Wielder of the Chop-Chop Fruit and one of the first adversaries of the Straw Hats, who they met even before the story's beginning. Laughable, looking like a joke, and seemingly harmless due to his bounty, his exterior hides a great many secrets.
----
* ActuallyPrettyFunny: Despite his open and repeatedly professed hatred for the Straw Hats, and despite his best efforts, he breaks down laughing hysterically when Soundbite breaks out Abbott and Costello's "Who's On First?" sketch.
* AdaptationalBadass: Canon Buggy is a weakling who never lived up to his full potential because he was too lazy to train himself. ''This'' Buggy is a Warlord-class combatant with mastery over Observation and Armament Haki who deliberately stayed low in East Blue as a 'small-time pirate' because he was flat-out sick of the insanity of the Grand Line after his time on Roger's crew and wanted as much peace and quiet you could get as a pirate without actually retiring. It's strongly implied that this is the real reason he rejected Shanks's offer after Roger died; he knew Shanks had every intention of going back and wanted no part of it.
* AFatherToHisMen: Whilst he certainly believes in ToughLove and intimidation, Buggy genuinely cares for his crew. After the Marineford War, he gives a speech to the Buggy Pirates warning them that they are likely to come under a lot of hostile attention now that Buggy has been outed as a Roger Pirate, and encouraging anyone who is afraid of that to leave now before the proverbial faeces hits the fan, assuring them that there will be no hard feelings for their departure. In response, ''none'' of his old crew wants to leave.
* AlmightyJanitor: You know how Oda once said that if Buggy bothered to put in the effort, he could easily be on the same level as Shanks? Well, during Marineford, we get to see that ''firsthand''. After his past as a Roger Pirate is exposed to the entire battlefield via Sengoku and Garp, Buggy '''''snaps''''' and goes on a rampage, tearing through marine soldiers like tissue paper and going toe-to-toe with ''Dracule '''freakin'''' Mihawk''.
* BerserkButton:
** He's hypersensitive about his large red nose. Even mishearing that you said something about his nose will have him try to kill you.
** To a lesser degree, it's noted in Part 2 of Marineford Misery that he does not handle being ignored well.
** Luffy is also this for him, at first -- however, he abandons his grudge after learning that Blackbeard carries the will of Rocks D. Xebec, like Luffy carries Roger's. To him, the two are bound to clash - and there's no question which of the two he wants to win.
** He hates traitors. When accepting Galdino into his crew, he crushes his new crewmate's hand and flatly and angrily tells him that if he so much as even ''thinks'' of turning on Buggy, he'll be fed feet first to Mohji's lion Richie.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Beneath that LaughablyEvil DirtyCoward veneer is an ex-apprentice to the strongest pirate crew to have ever lived. After he decides to cut loose, it's safe to say that no one will ever consider Buggy a joke again.
* CoverBlowingSuperpower: It's revealed in Chapter 76 (Impel Downfall Part 2) that Buggy has Observation Haki. Luffy and Mr. 3, keenly watching Buggy, notice he's moving just slightly before an attack is launched. Buggy explains to 3 that he doesn't want to draw the attention of stronger pirates itching for a fight if he reveals he's above his "weight class".
* DirtyCoward: He acts like this all the time to hide his true strength. In reality, he's only scared of a select few people and is more terrified of having his past revealed and dealing with the subsequent headache it would cause.
* TheDreaded: Once the weakling facade is cast off and he starts brawling with Dracule Mihawk, he becomes one of the most feared combatants in the Marineford War. His new underlings quickly obey each and all of his commands, not just because they admire him, but also because they're flat-out ''terrified'' of him.
* DueToTheDead: He might hate talking about his past as a Roger Pirate but when Whitebeard passes away, he hijacks the news broadcast and delivers a solemn eulogy praising the old Emperor's spirit and listing the number of attacks it took to finally take him down, citing that as one of Roger's old rivals he owes it to Whitebeard to give him a proper send-off.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He does care for his crew, enough that he gives them the chance to leave after returning to the Big Top post-Marineford, saying he won't blame them for wanting to avoid the insanity to come. Also, he still cares for the rest of the Roger Pirates, except [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg Douglas Bullet whom he is very wary of.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** As much as he hates Luffy and the Straw Hats, even he wouldn't wish them getting caught and consumed by Lily Carnation, and tries to get ahold of the SBS to warn them.
** A more positive (and silly) version: Even hating the other side won't stop him from happily singing along to a round of Bink's Brew with them.
* FatalFlaw: His ego and subsequent temper. Buggy spent ''twenty years'' shacking it up in East Blue, pretending to be a weakling, no-name pirate, with a vow to never return to the Grand Line, all so he could have something resembling a normal life again – only to break that promise because he wasn't able to let go of his grudge against Luffy after being beaten by him. Every terrible thing that's happened to him since then, including being incarcerated in Impel Down and having his past as a Roger Pirate exposed, can be traced back to his decision to chase after Luffy, regardless of the consequences.
* {{Foil}}: To Arlong. Both of them are Grand Line Pirates that were slumming it in East Blue, but other than that, they couldn't be more different. Arlong acts tough, but in truth is a DirtyCoward who ran off to the weakest sea in the world to live out his ambitions because he knew he couldn't hack it with the big boys of the Grand Line. Buggy acts like a DirtyCoward, but in reality is one of the strongest pirates on the planet and could easily make it as one of the top dogs of Paradise, or even the New World, but willingly chose not to due to being sick of the insanity there, desiring a life of (relative) peace and quiet.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: There are several hints to Buggy's true power level throughout the story. Along with the CoverBlowingSuperpower and the InsistentTerminology, Buggy is one of the only people left standing when Bullet unleashes his Conqueror's Haki in Level 6 during the Impel Downfall arc. More than that, he's the only one Bullet acknowledges besides Luffy, even speaking with the man on even keel. And perhaps the earliest hint of all is when Buggy reveals he once encountered Lily Carnation with one of his previous crews, a crew that he was the SoleSurvivor of – if ''anyone'' could survive and escape that monster, it would certainly be someone with New World-grade strength, and Buggy's ''real'' strength level more than fits the bill.
* GagNose: His nose is spherical in shape and a deep, bright crimson in color, despite the rest of Buggy's features looking fairly normal. In other words, it looks like the stereotypical strap-on clown's nose. When he cuts off a piece and draws blood, an amazed Dracule Mihawk notes that he thought the nose was a rubber novelty item.
* HopeSpot: During the Battle of Marineford, he keeps acting like a weak coward, hinging on the small, desperate hope that his past as a Roger Pirate wouldn't be exposed. Then Garp recognizes him, and it’s all downhill from there.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: Buggy didn't spend his time roaming the weakest sea because he was a weakling. He did it because he'd spent his entire youth in the DeathWorld that was the Grand Line and just wanted peace. Moving to the East Blue was like taking early retirement for him. When he finally stops pretending he's a wimp, he shows everybody what being the weakest member of the strongest crew really means.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Downplayed. While he still enjoys being a pirate, Buggy's core reason for being in East Blue in the fic was the end result of being basically thoroughly ''sick'' of the madness that came with being part of the Roger Pirates and the Grand Line, and ultimately decided that he wanted to leave and be the type of pirate who didn't have to constantly look over his shoulder for the newest ludicrous way in which the New World could kill him. Needless to say, being dragged back into the mess by the exposure of his past [[RageBreakingPoint pushes him over the edge.]]
* ITakeOffenseToThatLastOne: After Luffy wins his surfing contest against Shogun Octavio live on the SBS, he and Alvida express their thoughts at how ridiculous it all was. The Slim-Slim woman makes subtle jabs at the clown over how ridiculous it was a freak lightning storm saved Luffy from his execution in Loguetown, how losing a few freckles make a difference in perceiving beauty, and how a no-name clown-themed pirate from the East Blue managed to survive in the Grand Line for so long. Buggy is immediately peeved at what she called him.
* InsistentTerminology: During the Impel Downfall arc onward, the narrative insists on calling him a "small-time pirate", with quotes. It's both {{foreshadowing}} and reinforcing the fact that Buggy, in truth, is very much ''not'' a "small-time pirate".
* LesserOfTwoEvils: After realizing that Blackbeard now carries the will of Rocks D. Xebec, he completely abandons all of his plans to get revenge on/kill Luffy to prevent the chaos that he'll bring about in the future. Why? Because if Luffy dies, that means the only "inherited will" vying for Roger's throne is Xebec's, and he knows that it would be ''far'' worse for everybody if Blackbeard claims the throne of the Pirate King instead of Luffy.
* LetsGetDangerous: After being pushed to his RageBreakingPoint during Marineford and being exposed as part of Roger's crew, Buggy decides to show everybody just why he was a Roger Pirate. The result is enough that Mihawk, who barely paid attention to him in canon, is actually ''interested'' in him.
* MrExposition: Tells Luffy that after Cross revealed the interior of Impel Down to everyone, the jailers decided the facility was due for an... ''[[NiceJobBreakingItHero upgrade]]''.
** Later, after the war, Buggy is the one who reveals to Luffy the existence of Rocks D. Xebec, the fact that Whitebeard, Big Mom and Kaido used to be members of his crew, that it took both Roger and Garp to take them down, and that he fully believes Blackbeard to be his direct successor.
* NoMoreHoldingBackSpeech: After he's revealed to be one of the Roger Pirates to the entirety of Marineford, he decides that if he's going to be hunted by everyone... he might as well give it his all.
-->"Fame... ''Respect...'' Is that… what you think comes with Roger's name? Do you think I didn't know what would happen if I flashed my captain's name? I knew ''exactly'' what would happen, which is ''exactly'' why I've never done it. I sailed almost this entire world, from the clouds in the sky to the ocean floor, across the deadliest seas and against opponents the most powerful anyone could imagine. And when it was over, I decided that ''[[ScrewThisImOuttaHere I didn't want to be a part of it anymore]].'' I reaped the fruits of the strongest sea, and I chose to use them to ensure that I would never have to return to a life of paranoia, where every puff of smoke, every ripple on the water was a reason to keep your guard up, lest it kill you in a new, creative and ''utterly ludicrous'' way. I laid low and sandbagged as a small-time pirate for over twenty years – TWENTY. YEARS. – because I ''earned'' it, surviving the utter madhouse that was Roger's crew. I just wanted to live the rest of my life in PEACE and SANITY. ''WAS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK''!? …well. Apparently, it was. I never planned on this getting out. I never truly wanted to come back. Back to this sea, to this life, to ''this insanity again…'' But since I have no choice anymore… ''if this is what you '''really''' want''… THEN SO BE IT! LET'S! ''GET!'' '''''FLASHY'''''!\
[...]\
"You wanted a Roger Pirate, Sengoku? Well, congratulations: '''''you've got one.'''''"
* NoSell: Any damage involving blades is automatically negated due to his Chop-Chop's power. Even Dracule Mihawk, [[WorldsBestWarrior greatest swordsman alive]], finds it difficult to hurt Buggy with his sword attacks. The most he achieves is cutting off a small piece of Buggy's nose when he attacks the pirate clown whilst he's distracted talking to a subordinate.
* NoodleIncident: He's somehow heard the phrase "[[ARareSentence I am not a Muppet]]" twice, with the second time being when it was broadcast by the SBS during the Davy Back Fight between the Straw Hats and the Foxy Pirates. Considering Buggy used to be on Gol D. Roger's crew, one has to wonder who the late King of the Pirates encountered that Buggy heard the phrase ''the first time''.
* NormalFishInATinyPond: Played with. Buggy is one of the strongest pirates in the world, easily Warlord-tier, and can fight on even terms with the likes of Dracule Mihawk and Shanks, but spent his time in East Blue doing everything he could to hide his real strength and eke out a (relatively) peaceful living. Even then, he still manages to be one of the most infamous pirates in that stretch of sea and it was only his desire to keep a low profile (and a lack of interest in conquest, possibly) that kept him from taking over the place outright.
* OnlySaneMan: It gradually becomes clear that Buggy was this among the Roger Pirates. Whereas everyone else seems to have fond memories of their time together, Buggy's memories are marred by the sheer insanity and paranoia he had to endure during their voyages (although it's worth noticing that he also does think fondly of those days and to some degree still cares for his old crewmates). When they disbanded, he decided he wanted some peace and quiet, planked his ass in East Blue and never looked back.
* ParentsAsPeople: This is the best way of summing up his relationship with the older members of the Roger Pirates (besides Shanks and Bullet, who are both close to his age). He remembers the rest of the Roger Pirates fondly, and seems to genuinely care for them even two decades after they split up, to the point he admits he was crying over Roger's death - but he ''hates'' all the insanity they got into without a care and how he was constantly risking his life just sailing the Grand Line.
* ThePerilsOfBeingTheBest: Firmly defied. Buggy acted like he was a weakling for twenty years ''specifically'' because he didn't want anyone to know who he used to sail with and what he could really do.
* TheRival: To Shanks, after he casts off the weakling façade. The first time they speak to each other in decades, Buggy challenges him to a scrap, which Shanks happily accepts.
* SeenItAll: When everyone else (mostly) is boggling at Luffy using his Taolf wood sandals to run on water, Buggy just takes it in nonchalantly and notices it must be his shoes.
* SeriousBusiness:
** Much as Buggy goofs around and acts like he's a cowardly wimp, he has some solemn moments connected to when he'd sailed under Roger's flag.
** Humorously, while he may exaggerate or embellish certain parts in his logbook entries, he never writes an outright lie. Buggy has received lengthy... lessons from Rayleigh about that.
** On a more respectful note, he retreats on a ship to a certain distance away from Marineford but stays within range, swearing that they're seeing this War through to the end. Then Buggy gives Whitebeard upon his death a moving eulogy in honor of his former captain's FriendlyRival.
* StuffBlowingUp: His specialty, especially when he was part of the Roger Pirates. He was the one responsible for the "prodigious firepower" the ''Oro Jackson'' boasted; said ammunition was so potent that '''Whitebeard''' still has scars from the attacks. Buggy later sends a cannonball into Byrrndi World's face as the final step to make him stand down while he's on a ship miles away and tells Shanks that he could've rigged World's cell back in Level 6 to go boom if he'd had the time.
* TemptingFate: He decides to deliberately invoke this and up to eleven just to piss off Luffy. Not only does that cause him and the others to be discovered by Impel Down's staff, but it also ends with Impel Down being invaded by the World Pirates, screwing ''everyone'' over. One can't really blame Saldeath for declaring a KillOnSight order on him.
* TookALevelInBadass: Seems to be gearing up for this. However, it's revealed during Marineford that it's not so much "Took" a Level In Badass as [[WillfullyWeak "Finally Revealed Actual Level In Badass."]] Considering he has no issues matching the likes of Dracule Mihawk, he's probably stronger than even Luffy at this point, and unquestionably one of the strongest pirates in the world.
* WeakButSkilled: A downplayed example. Physically, he's strong enough when he isn't holding back to beat up multiple Blugori by himself, and needed to be dog-piled by them to get imprisoned again. But considering pre-timeskip Luffy was able to do the same, that doesn't place him particularly high on the New World's physical power scale. The main threat he presents seems to come from his skill and precision with his Devil Fruit and his Haki (he was able to rotate dozens of guns within a few seconds even though he'd split himself up).
* WillfullyWeak: Unlike canon where Oda posits Buggy as a lazy ass who has potential, ''This Bites!'' puts him as someone who is very much and is genuinely a similar (if slightly weaker) level to Shanks and is shown to be actually be capable once he pulls in the effort. It's just that Buggy found the Grand Line to be too much and settled down in East Blue and tried to hold back much of his powers as possible.
** In "Denouement", after the Marineford War outs him as a former Rogers Pirate to the world, he returns to his newly expanded crew and makes a point of bluntly and explicitly telling them that he ''doesn't'' want to be King of the Pirates and has ''no intention'' of searching for the One Piece.
* WorthyOpponent: To Dracule Mihawk during Marineford, who is openly grinning and calling him 'interesting' as they clash.

[[folder:Douglas Bullet]]
!! "Demon Heir" Douglas Bullet -- Bounty: Unknown, now frozen.
Wielder of the Clank-Clank Fruit and one of the members of the Roger Pirates, Douglas Bullet was arguably the most dangerous prisoner in Level 6 - and all of Impel Down - after he was captured post-execution of Roger.

----
* BloodKnight: It's noted by WordOfGod that the only times Bullet ever really felt alive were when he fought Roger, and his VillainousBSOD after Roger died supports this.
* TheDreaded: Everyone in Impel Down is afraid and wary of him, and even the likes of Magellan, Boa Hancock, and Crocodile are visibly worried when he makes himself known on Level 6. Even Buggy chose to tread lightly with his former crewmate, and after Bullet is recruited for the Warlords, flat-out states that he wishes Bullet had died before the new era came because he knows what kind of havoc his former ally intends on wreaking upon the world. Magellan outright calls Bullet a demon when he learns that the World Government are releasing him to join the Warlords in exchange for a pardon. Both here and in canon, ''Blackbeard'' actually decided to leave him out of the cage matches he was holding to gain crewmates.
* TheForceIsStrongWithThisOne: He makes his presence known to Luffy and his allies by exerting his Conqueror's Haki upon the entirety of Level 6. It's powerful enough that enormous swathes of the Hell's prisoners were left unconscious.
* HesBack: A villainous example - after witnessing Luffy and Blackbeard, Roger and Xebec’s respective successors, Bullet decides to finally end his isolation, and accepts the World Government's deal to become a Warlord, in hopes of meeting—and fighting—Luffy and Blackbeard in the future.
* LongerThanLifeSentence: He was given ''thirteen consecutive life sentences'' for his crimes before he accepted the deal to be a Warlord.
* MistakenIdentity: Downplayed - his wording makes it unclear whether he thinks Luffy and Blackbeard, respectively, ''are'' Roger and Xebec (or at least, their reincarnations), or if the two have just inherited the Wills of their predecessors.
* OddFriendship: Friendship is a strong word, but Bullet acknowledges Buggy, who was considered as the weakest member of the Roger Pirates in the past, even speaking with him on even keel. When they meet again as new Warlords in the Denouement, he even speaks to Buggy in a semi-friendly manner.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: He was content to stay inside his cell on Level 6 even though he might have been able to break free, even with his sea prism stone handcuffs, due to his VillainousBSOD after Roger died. Then it's subverted when he decides to leave after Blackbeard's cage matches leave his cuffs unlocked, after which he accepts a deal with the World Government to become the newest Warlord and is officially released from Impel Down.
* RecruitingTheCriminal: The World Government, at some point in the past, made him the offer to become a Warlord. He accepted after the War of the Best.
* TokenEvilTeammate: He was/is only a member of the Roger Pirates because he respected the Pirate King's strength. Whitey Bay notes in Part 4 of Impel Downfall that Roger couldn't control Bullet on a ''good'' day "any more than she could control the tides."
* VaguenessIsComing: He realizes after seeing him that Luffy is likely "the man Roger was waiting for", even if he's not ready to be that man yet.
-->'''Bullet''': "Mmm… so… it ''is'' you… …mmm… …or… are you… Are and aren't… which is it…"\
'''Luffy''': "Who… are you?"\
'''Bullet''': "No… not yet… not yet… One day… someday…"\
His head turned back, and his last words were, for the first time, spoken directly at Luffy.\
"But not yet."\
And with that final statement, the giant fully turned around and shuffled back into the gloom of his cell, sitting back down on his bench and returning to the immobile position he'd held for the past twenty years.
* WorthyOpponent: He saw Roger as this when he was alive, and while he hasn't fought either of them as of the Denoument, he's clearly ''eager'' for the chance to take on Blackbeard, as well as Luffy after the latter becomes ready for the New World.

!!Other Crews

[[folder:Byojack World]]
Brother of the infamous pirate Byrrndi World and acting captain of the World Pirates, he broke into Impel Down with the help of an unknown patron to rescue his brother.
----
* AllForNothing: The efforts of Byojack and his fellow World Pirates to break into Impel Down and free Byrrndi come to nothing after Blackbeard wipes them out. Meanwhile, Byrrndi, who doesn't even bat an eye at his brother's death, temporarily joins Blackbeard's crew — only to be murdered by his new captain within days so Blackbeard can steal his devil fruit power for himself.
* AdaptationNameChange: From no family name given in 3D2Y to "Byojack World" in the fic.
* BadassBoast: "No matter what happens, no matter how much this hellish prison throws at me, I won't stop. Not until I save my brother! Or my name isn't Byojack World!"
* CanonImmigrant: Originally from the OVA 3D2Y, here he's getting involved in the Impel Down arc.
* CoolOldGuy: He's an old man and has always been a midget in height and frail in stature. He has negligible strength and stamina. And he's still the captain of a formidable crew ''and'' is determined to literally go to hell and back to rescue his brother.
* HopeSpot: He expects to find Byrrndi among the cells of Level 6 upon reaching it with Luffy and his allies' help... only to discover his brother was sealed in a HumanPopsicle state. He was hoping that with the exposure of the SBS among the Impel Down prisoners, it would reignite Byrrndi's former love for adventure than malevolent violence he devolved into. But after seeing his brother in ice, Byojack knew he will be the same as ever the moment he's free from it.
* OhCrap: He freaks out when he sees Marshall D. Teach, though his FreakOut has him mistake Blackbeard for someone else. Based on his wording, it's implied he mistook Teach for ''Xebec''.
-->'''Byojack''': N...N-No… t-that's impossible… y-y-you died! You died! They killed you! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD!
* ThickerThanWater: Openly admits that his brother is an awful person that deserves bring imprisoned in Impel Down, but is still going to rescue him because of their relation.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Even though he and the World Pirates succeed in breaking Byrrndi out, they are quickly wiped out by Blackbeard by unleashing deadly toxins he kept in his Darkness after his fight with Magellan.

[[folder:Bleeding Heart Bounty Hunters]]
!!Bleeding Heart Bounty Hunters

A group of compassionate but foolishly stubborn bounty hunters who have an apparent inability to believe that they're wrong, they distrust the Government and pirates alike.

----
* CondescendingCompassion: They're very compassionate towards Vivi's "circumstances" and waste no time assuring her of rescue. She's having none of it and ''mauls'' their captain.
* CurbStompBattle: On the receiving end from Wyvern, Cross's future self.
* HumanCannonball: Their signature weapon is firing their crew members onto enemy ships.
* InsaneTrollLogic: Due to them not trusting the World Government, as well as believing that all pirates are scum, they think that because Vivi's bounty is fake and she's too nice to ally with pirates, she's been brainwashed and kidnapped by the Straw Hats.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Amigo Pirates]]
!!Amigo Pirates

A pirate crew the Straw Hats encounter on Little East Blue, searching for Boss Kabuto. Their captain is Largo, whose brother Corto serves as vice-captain.
----

* BadBoss: Largo shoots a {{Mook}} who asks not to fight the [[TheDreaded Straw Hat Pirates]].
* CurbStompBattle: On the receiving end from Cross, Soundbite, Lassoo, and Funkfreed, who defeat them with tactics, luck, and [[RefugeInAudacity sheer audacity]].
* DontWakeTheSleeper: Largo is willing to shoot anyone who interrupts his siesta.
* GratuitousSpanish: Largo and Corto pepper their speech with Spanish.
* HypercompetentSidekick: Corto gives off this impression, compared to his brother.
* InescapableNet: Largo's Net-Net Fruit allows him to create nets out of any substance that he ingests, from mucus to iron to roses to fire. Cross calls it a knock-off of the Munch-Munch Fruit.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Corto, after learning that trying to capture Boss would mean going up against the Straw Hats, decides to leave, declaring that recovering Boss would be impossible. Unfortunately for him, Largo overrules him.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: Largo makes ''strumming a guitar'' menacing.
* OhCrap: The reaction of Corto and the fodder when they realize they've docked next to the ''Thousand Sunny''.
* SmugSnake: Just look at all the other entries here about Largo.
* TooDumbToLive: Largo, the captain, elects to pick a fight with the Straw Hats, the most infamous pirate crew in Paradise, and one of the most powerful to boot, who openly attacked Enies Lobby and got away with it, ''after'' Cross gave his vice-captain and crew a chance to walk away without conflict.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Thanks to the "[[SuperSerum gift]]" that Indigo gave them, they thought they could beat the Straw Hats. They lose to Cross and his partners.
* UnwittingPawn: Used as such by Shiki and Indigo. They thought they were being considered to be Shiki's 51st Division, with a SuperSerum given to them as a sign of brotherhood, when in actuality all they were doing was acting as Indigo's guinea pigs for his new iteration of SIQ.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rocks Pirates]]
An infamous crew of Pirates who terrorized the four Blue seas decades before Gol D. Roger's rise to infamy. The crew was led by Rocks D. Xebec, and among their number were Shiki the Golden Lion, Long John Silverteeth, and three of the four Emperors: Big Mom, Kaido, and Whitebeard.
----
* TheDreaded: Assuming Byojack genuinely mistook Teach for him, Xebec was a ''terrifying'' individual. Not surprising since he had Shiki and three future Emperors in his crew. Even Buggy, who was just a ''baby'' when Xebec died, and who (likely) joined the Roger Pirates well after Xebec's death and only knew about him through word of mouth, is terrified of him and the idea that his will now lives on through Marshal D. Teach.
* TheFellowshipHasEnded: After Xebec's death, the crew all parted and went their separate ways, some going on to form their own crews. Having said that, Shiki is of the opinion that you're a Rocks Pirate for life after getting his ass handed to him by Luffy and meeting Blackbeard.
* PosthumousCharacter: Xebec died thirty years ago at the hands of Garp and Roger, though his legacy and will has since been inherited by Blackbeard.
* VillainousLegacy: Shiki implies that Teach is Xebec's spiritual successor in all but name, saying that although he never heard of "Marshall D. Teach", he's known Blackbeard and was part of his crew for a very long time. Buggy agrees with this sentiment during his meeting with Luffy in ''Denouement'', stating that if Luffy is Gol D. Roger's successor, Teach is Xebec's.
