The main protagonist of the series. He is an outlaw dedicated to ending discrimination across the universe, shooting anyone who makes discriminatory comments. After meeting Katsu, Tori, Robin, Lexie, Tatasia and Nightheart, he ends up having the responsibility to give the six a temporary ship ride, but while at first he only has a temporary alliance with them, he grows attached to the six soon enough. He ends up becoming their captain of their crew, named ‘The Black Nebula”.
----
* BatmanGambit: [[spoiler: In the second story, he knew that his crew would keep going, even if he was missing, and that Xochtal would focus on trying to kill them, which results in a fight. Meanwhile, he was mixing in gunpowder with the stardust that he knew Xochtal would absorb. This succeeds, as when he absorbs the gunpowder, he reveals it proudly to Xochtal, but it’s already too late, as the Ancient Kluex Staff starts glitching, before Ethyl shoots it, destroying it and Xochtal.]]
* TheCaptain: The captain of the Black Nebula. He deeply cares about his crew and would do anything for them.
* TheChessmaster: He’s an excellent planner, as shown in the trilogy. He knows exactly how to play with people into getting a victory. Some of his best schemes include [[spoiler: his rescuing of Tori’s village which was under attack, resulting in zero casualties,]] [[spoiler: and how he faked his death at the hands of Xochtal, only to mix gunpowder in with the stardust Xochtal had gathered, resulting in Xochtal’s demise.]]
* TheDreaded: Ethyl's actions and competence have garnered him a reputation. When a few Occasus Cultists encounter Ethyl's crew, it takes him showing up to put fear in their eyes.
--> '''Occasus Cultist''': "[[OhCrap OH SHIT]]! IT'S ETHYL!!! RUUUUUUUUNNN!!!"
* EveryoneHasStandards: Ethyl explains to Xochtal [[spoiler: (while he's pretending to have a HeelFaceTurn)]] that he isn't a heartless, blood-thirsty maniac by showing scenarios where he does spare people, like if it would cause too much chaos, or if his presumed targets really are [[IWasJustJoking just joking around]], or if they are [[WouldntHurtAChild under 18]].
* FinalSolution: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]]. He wants to end discrimination by shooting down every racist.
--> '''Ethyl''': "People see it as harsh, I see it as cleaning."
* FreudianExcuse: He was [[spoiler: discriminated against when he was a kid, was manipulated by Desert Tumbler into a life of crime, who later betrays him, and when he escaped prison and returned home, he witnessed his mother get murdered by members of the Occasus Cult. When learning of the Occasus Cult's motives and discriminatory nature, he decides to go on a quest to end racism.]]
* TheGunslinger: An excellent marksman.
* TheHeroDies: [[spoiler: Is killed at the end of the third story.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: He offers to die so his crew can escape in the first story. {{Subverted}} when he’s actually revealed to have been rescued by a soldier and survived.]] [[spoiler: {{Double Subverted}} as he sacrifices himself for real at the end of the third story, where he drives the Backup Plan into a star to destroy it, killing him with it.]]
* KirkSummation: While normally he doesn’t give his enemies a chance, [[spoiler: he offered Stormlance a chance of peace, to stop doing what he was doing. However, it doesn’t work, which he expected, but still wanted to try a peaceful solution anyways.]]
* ManipulativeBastard: He isn’t above manipulating and tricking people to get his way, good or bad.
* MeaningfulName: His first name comes from ethyl alcohol, a common ingredient found in hand sanitizer, which aligns with how he sees his killings as cleaning.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: His views on discrimination. Since some racists [[BeyondRedemption can't be swayed or changed]], Ethyl decides to shoot them and call it a day. [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] and [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]] as he reveals he actually thinks about whether shooting is the best option but is quick at thinking on his feet so it looks like he's making decisions on a whim, and his course of actions ends up putting him at odds with some of Azima’s crew until they talk things out.
* PragmaticHero: His methods of dealing with discrimination involve shooting people who do it. However, his reasoning for it is completely well intended. It’s not just limited to discrimination, either. In the third story, he [[spoiler: pretended to be a terrorist with planet destroying bombs in an effort to make everyone panic and leave Solunar Nexus so they wouldn’t be captured by the Glitch Empire.]]
* SympatheticMurderer: Even though he's more than willing to put anyone that discriminates down without a second chance or thought, given how his DarkAndTroubledPast heavily involves discrimination against him, it's clear to see that he sees that his actions are motivated by him not wanting others to suffer like he did.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: While his method of dealing with discrimination is quite extreme, he has good intentions behind it, wanting to get rid of discrimination and let people live their lives without being discriminated against 24/7.
* WouldntHurtAChild: Ethyl refuses to kill anyone under the age of 18, as he reveals to Xochtal.

[[folder:Katsu Umino]]
!!Katsu Umino
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f165b670_2692_4a71_88cb_b228b51f0275.jpeg]]

An enthusiastic and nerdy hylotl from Solunar Nexus III, with a fascination for other cultures. Unlike a lot of other hylotl, he isn’t prideful in the slightest, having nothing against other races, keeping an open mind and welcoming strange things with open arms. Unfortunately, due to his beliefs, he was bullied a lot in school. He was supposed to graduate from the protectorate, but during his graduation ceremony, earth was attacked by The Ruin, so he had to escape without a manipulator.
----
* FiendishFish: The biggest [[SubvertedTrope subversion]] you could find, being probably the most completely heroic character in the story and being the polar opposite of those sadly numerous [[FishPeople hylotl]] who look down on other races, as he is a passionate learner who wants the galaxy to be peaceful and egalitarian.
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler: He gets married to Tori and has 2 children.]]
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: In the first story, he suffers from EXTREMELY low self esteem, and a constant pressure to be perfect in everyone else’s eyes. When he makes mistakes, he often berates himself, and when he [[spoiler: failed to save a house full of hostages, he felt extremely terrible about it, which activated his inner demons, who even told him to give up and commit suicide]]. It’s a result of both peer pressure and bullying in his life that gave him low self esteem.
* InterspeciesRomance: He’s a hylotl, who ends up in a relationship with Tori, a floran. [[spoiler: It eventually leads to marriage.]]
* KirkSummation: [[spoiler: He attempts to redeem Mika and convince her to stop her plan of destroying Solunar Nexus… it doesn’t work.]]
* TheLancer: Serves as this to Ethyl. While Ethyl is a realist and more anti-heroic and lethal, Katsu is optimistic, reluctant to kill and uses more peaceful methods instead. The two share a close bond despite their differences, and highly respect each other. [[spoiler: Katsu is even one of the most distraught after Ethyl’s death, yet still keeps his composure at his funeral, for his sake.]]
* LovableNerd: He's a huge fan of both other cultures and anime, as well as slightly socially inept, and it all makes him even more endearing when paired with him being heroic and kind.
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: Hylotl tend to be prideful and look down on races they see as uncultured, but not Katsu.
* NiceGuy: He’s a nice and friendly guy.
* NoSocialSkills: Downplayed, as he can still hold a normal conversation and make friends fast, but he has some moments, such as when he first met Tori and bombarded her with 5 minutes of questions...and then asked her name. She and everyone else, of course, don't mind since he is [[NiceGuy that good a guy]].

[[folder:Tori Spearleif]]
!!Tori Spearleif

An energetic and crazy floran from Solunar Nexus III, who has a kind heart. She was raised by her Greenfinger, so she ended up slightly more civilised then most florans. She met Katsu when he was observing her village, and the two became close friends ever since, agreeing strongly with his beliefs and loving his kind heart. She was supposed to graduate from the protectorate, but during her graduation ceremony, earth was attacked by The Ruin, so she had to escape without a manipulator.
----
* ActionGirl: She knows how to fight with a spear, and very well too, given that she’s a floran, a race full of warriors. If evil is afoot, Tori will be ready to [[SssssnakeTalk Ssstab it]].
* [[{{Catchphrase}} Catchphrassse]]: If you're a bad guy, get ready to be "Ssstabbed".
* GenkiGirl: She’s very overly excited and hyperactive nearly all the time.
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler: She gets married to Katsu and has 2 children.]]
* [[InterspeciesRomance Interssspieces Romance]]: She’s a floran, who ends up in a relationship with Katsu, a hylotl. [[spoiler: It eventually leads to marriage.]]
* SssssnakeTalk: As expected of a floran.
* [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes Why Did It Have To Be Fire?]]: Due to a bad experience with it, Tori is '''terrified''' of fire and can barely even get close to it. [[spoiler: She manages to get over it, though.]]

A witty and snarky grounded avian who seeks to free her race from the Stargazer’s influence, due to their brutality and controlling nature. She is Lexie’s girlfriend [[spoiler: and later wife]]. She seeks interest in Ethyl, as she agrees with his ideals on ending discrimination, and later joined his crew.
----
* ActionGirl: She can literally wield '''two''' rifles at once.
* DeadpanSnarker: Her primary sense of humour.
* ADogNamedDog: That is the case somewhat, as she's a red avian named ''Robin''.
* FryingPanOfDoom: She ends the fight against Tatasia, easily the most intense confrontation up to that point in the story, by whacking the apex unconscious with one of these.
* TheGadfly: Can be this. Poor Nightheart should ''not'' have let her know it was so easy to get under his metal skin.
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler: She and Lexie get married in the third story. Their love hasn’t faded, as their still together 10 years later, and even have a daughter.]]
* InterspeciesRomance: She’s an avian who’s dating Lexie, a novakid. [[spoiler: They get married eventually.]]
* LipstickLesbian: She’s a lesbian, and has quite a feminine appearance. However, she is closer to a ButchLesbian when it comes to the sheer [[DeadpanSnarker attitude]] she will unleash on you...and the bullets she will fill you with if you threaten her team.
* RedIsHeroic: She is an avian with mostly red plumage, as well as one of the heroic main protagonist, if a [[DeadpanSnarker snarky]] one.
* SkewedPriorities: When face-to-brand with [[AxCrazy Desert Tumbler]] and his army of hired gunmen, as well as the dozens of corpses from their latest carnage, her mind still manages to wander off to breasts. ''Desert'', [[PsychopathicManchild of all people]], finds Robin's talk of mammaries to be ridiculous, especially since he tried to make it her last words.

A shy novakid who serves as a healer who also packs a punch with a machine pistol, and as the Black Nebula’s chef. She is Robin’s girlfriend [[spoiler: and later wife]]. She may be shy, but she isn’t a coward by any means, as she is willing to protect her friends and innocent people, and even face danger head on for the sake of others.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Shy, compassionate, kind and still someone who is able to ''annihilate'' you if you hurt her loved ones, [[spoiler: just ask Tumbler...]]
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler: She and Robin get married in the third story. Their love hasn’t faded, as their still together 10 years later, and even have a daughter.]]
* InterspeciesRomance: She’s a novakid who’s dating Robin, an avian. [[spoiler: They even get married eventually.]]
* LipstickLesbian: She’s actually Bisexual, but still has a feminine appearance and is the quiet healer of the team.
* NiceGirl: She’s a kind person, as you'd expect from the team healer..
* ShrinkingViolet: She’s very shy and timid. This is even {{Lampshaded}} by Desert, who calls her this.

A hot headed lieutenant of the apex rebels, who helped take down the Miniknog. Once the Miniknog were defeated, she decided that there should be no chance of a comeback, so she went around killing ex-miniknog, until she was stopped. She then joined the Black Nebula, but at first she only was interested in taking down Desert, but then later warmed up to everyone and considered them her friends.
----
* ActionGirl: She’s great at fighting, and very dangerous if you piss her off. Those mechanical enhancements and elemental knives aren't for show...though she ''will'' show them off as she terminates you with them.
* HairTriggerTemper: It doesn’t take much to set her off.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: She started off as a rebel against the Miniknog, who helped take out Big Ape. Then, she ends up going down a darker path, where she starts killing dozens of ex-miniknog, and she’s still in that phase when we first meet her. Thankfully, she redeems herself and becomes a hero yet again, and hasn’t gone down a villainous path since.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Attempts this in the third story, where in an attempt to kill her mother for good, she tackles her into the shredder, while holding her down, being willing to die brutally just so her mother does too. Thankfully, Nightheart saves Tatasia while Kleriya dies.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She may be short tempered and rude, but she deeply cares about her friends and people, and will do anything to protect them.
* RebelliousSpirit: She lives and breathes this trope. She HATES authority thanks to her experiences living under the Miniknog, and thinks that it should be as limited as possible. [[spoiler: She comes to appreciate it a little bit 10 years later, but still isn’t too fond.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She became this when she was killing all ex-miniknog. {{Subverted}} when she stopped.

A humorous glitch who gained self awareness, but was shunned by his kind for his new awareness. So, he tried to spread self awareness to help free his kind from being trapped in their delusions. He met an injured and outcasted Tatasia, and gave her a new robotic arm to replace her old one, and became her friend ever since. [[spoiler: He is revealed to be secretly depressed, but he keeps it hidden from others, and puts on a comedic personality to make others happy.]]
----
* EatingMachine: While the glitch do often eat their own metallic themed food, Nightheart has no problem eating food from other cultures.
* ItsAllMyFault: How he feels about [[spoiler: his village being taken over by Stormlance.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler: When he is making less jokes in the third story, Tatasia is immediately worried, knowing that it’s not like him to be so down.]]
* PluckyComicRelief: He serves as the main comic relief of the Black Nebula.

The protector who vanquished The Ruin. She was a friend of Katsu and Tori back in their days together, and came back to save them. She has a crew of her own. She often says a lot of stuff that seems rude or offensive, but she means well, and feels bad about how she comes off.
----
* ActionGirl: She’s fought against many powerful beings, including The Ruin, and is no stranger to fights.
* BigGood: She takes the role of the playable character from the original game, having been the one who stopped The Ruin. She also played a role in ending the miniknog. Hell, she even gifted Katsu and Tori their manipulators to use. [[spoiler: Then, she becomes the new Grand Protector, making her in charge of the universes protection.]]
* TheCaptain: She’s the captain of her own crew.
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler: She is happily married to Ludvig eventually.]]
* InnocentlyInsensitive: She often says stuff that comes off as rude or offensive, but she doesn’t mean to offend or hurt people. She’s aware of this and wants to do better.

A sheriff, who often fought Ethyl [[spoiler: and Desert]] back in the old days. She eventually joined Azima’s crew, and eventually saw Ethyl again. The two still disliked each over at first, but grew to like each over over time. She has an ego, but it’s because she feels she has to have one.
----
* ActionGirl: Being a sheriff, this should be obvious.
* DeadpanSnarker: She can be pretty snarky.
* EvilUncle: She had one, who constantly threatened her parents and only cared about riches. One day, she ended up in a shootout with him, and arrested him, something she still fondly remembers.
* TheGunslinger: She’s pretty handy with a gun, as expected of a sheriff.
* LovableSexManiac: {{Downplayed}}. She makes some rather perverted and sexual remarks, but they aren’t too common.

An old member of Mika’s posse. She left Mika after a while, and became a samurai instead. She wants to make up for how she acted in the past, and genuinely befriend Katsu and Tori.
----
* ActionGirl: She became a very skilled samurai. [[spoiler: Unfortunately {{Subverted}} once she’s bound to a wheelchair for life, but she is still able to teach people how to fight, as she hasn’t forgotten her methods.]]
* BullyTurnedBuddy: She used to be mean when she was a part of Mike’s posse, albeit one of the least bad. However, years later, she has matured thanks to her training, and has befriended Katsu and Tori, who she once bullied.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: In the final battle, she sacrifices herself by jumping in front of Kleriya when she was about to kill Tatasia, Nightheart and Katsu. She proceeded to then anger Kleriya on purpose, allowing Kleriya to focus solely on her and start brutally beating her, which allowed Tatasia and Nightheart to take advantage of this and attack Kleriya. While she does survive, it’s only barely, and she’s now bound to a wheelchair for the rest of her life.]]
* IncompatibleOrientation: While she had a crush on Mika, Mika was not only straight, but also homophobic…
* LipstickLesbian: She’s gay, as she had a crush on Mika. She also wears quite a feminine style.
* {{Samurai}}: After leaving Mika’s posse, she took training and became an honourable samurai.
* TokenGoodTeammate: She’s the only one of Mika’s posse who seemed to have a heart, showed genuine concern for everyone and was offering genuine honest advice, rather then what Mika actually wanted to hear. It helps that she becomes a hero later down the line.

----
* TheAtoner: He genuinely hates how he couldn’t fight the Miniknog, and had to work with them. So, when he joined Azima’s crew, he wanted to start helping her as a thank you for helping stop the Miniknog. He also helps fight against the Glitch Empire, and works in the [[spoiler: new protectorate]].
* TokenAdult: {{Downplayed}}. Now, everyone else in the crew is an adult, but their only in their twenties. Meanwhile, Mark is in his forties.

The powerful king of The Glitch Empire and the main antagonist of the trilogy. He wants to take over the universe and remake it into a completely peaceful world, so no harm can ever be done. While his goal is well intended, he’ll go to extreme lengths to get to that goal, to the point of being willing to destroy everything that wasn’t his territory at the end of the story, due to being unable to conquer everything.
----
* ApologeticAttacker: After launching a WeaponOfMassDestruction known as the [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Backup Plan]] and effectively sentencing countless people to death, all he can do, besides [[WhyDidYouMakeMeHitYou chastising the others for pushing him to such desperation]], is apologize.
* BadPeopleAbuseAnimals: Along with several others, he threatens to kill Marshmallow, Ethyl's pet snugget.
* BigBad: The main antagonist of the entire series. He’s built up as a threat ever since the first story’s post credit scene, then plays a role as the GreaterScopeVillain in the second story, then finally becomes the main antagonist of the third story.
* BeyondRedemption: Believes he is this after having a HeelRealization, knowing he's done too much to hope to redeem himself, and can't take any of it back.
* BrainwashingForTheGreaterGood: Tries this on the entire universe in an attempt to exterminate chaos and crime.
* TheChessmaster: A truly dangerous one. As a conqueror, he plots invasions for months before pulling them off successfully. He also has dozens of star systems under his control, which he manipulates perfectly.
* ControlFreak: He wants to take away everyone's free will and control everything [[TheEvilsOfFreeWill because he sees free will as evil]] and [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans believes what he's doing will ensure universal peace]]. This also extends to his daughter, who he has chipped to prevent her from betraying him.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He genuinely loved his father, wife and son, and misses them greatly. He also cares about Moonquill, even after she betrays him.
* TheEvilsOfFreeWill: His motive. He considers free will as evil and wants to take it away from the entire universe.
* FinalSolution: When all of his plans fail and he realises he can’t take over the universe, he realises that he needs to use the Backup Plan, a spaceship that destroys entire star systems, and it has an AI which automatically destroys any star system it finds that he hasn’t conquered.
* FreudianExcuse: To call him tragic would be an understatement. He once lived a peaceful life, not aware that he’s in a simulation, until his kingdom and family were destroyed. He went around, and only saw destruction. He grew to hate freedom and as a result, wanted to conquer the universe to keep absolute order. His tragedy still affects him to this day.
* IWillPunishYourFriendForYourFailure: He threatens to kill several people connected to the heroes in retribution for not being told where the non-captured heroes are.
* KnightTemplar: He has a strong MyWayOrTheHighway mindset, where he believes he has the [[BrainWashed only solution]] to chaos. In his eyes, anyone who doesn't agree with his idea either is in need of redemption, or needs to be put down ForTheGreaterGood. [[HeelRealization Snaps out of it]] after being defeated in the final battle.
* LoveRedeems: Helped a bandit get her life back on track, who later becomes his wife.
* ManipulativeBastard: Where to start? He gaslights Moonquill into thinking like him, and also gaslights multiple glitch soldiers, including a memory wiped Ironwall, making him become his dragon. When glitch become self aware, he’ll brush it off as a plague and get them executed, with some exceptions, if they help him with his conquering. He also controls his planets daily, having an entire room dedicated to pulling clones like strings to make sure everything is what he wants. Hell, he has wiped billions of memories clean, and implanted them with new ones as if they were always like this.
* MercyKill: When realising how evil he was, he laments what happened to him, what it did to him, and what it drove him to do. He asks Moonquill to kill him to both put him out of his misery and so he could pay for his crimes.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: He finally realises how bad his actions were in his final moments, after being fatally wounded by Moonquill, who he orders to execute him to punish him for everything he did.
* Really700YearsOld: While he looks like he’s in his forties, he’s actually hundreds of years old, and modified his body to not age.
* TinTyrant: He wears black and gold armour, and is the king of the Glitch Empire, who seeks to control the entire universe.
* TragicVillain: He’s a ruthless and dangerous conqueror, but the loss of his kingdom and family is part of what turned him into who he is today. He’s aware that some of his actions are immoral, but he believes that it’s a necessary evil that has to be done, and shows no enjoyment in his actions. Hell, at the end when he’s defeated and realises he was wrong to do what he was doing, he orders Moonquill to execute him, believing that he’s BeyondRedemption.
* UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans: To him, his actions, while bad, are actions he only takes because he feels that they will lead to a better universe. Stormlance genuinely believes that his peaceful universe would be the best for everyone, and that some sacrifices are needed for it.
* VillainousBreakdown: He has one where he’s frustrated and upset at what the protectors are doing, Moonquill’s betrayal and how everyone is treating him like a monster. He manages to calm down soon after.
* VillainRespect: He genuinely respects both the Black Nebula and Azima’s Crew.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Despite committing heinous crimes, everything he does is out of good intentions, as he genuinely believes that his conquering and taking over the universe is for the good of everyone, as he’s trying to get rid of evil and keep order. There isn’t a trace of selfishness in what he does, and he sometimes feels reluctant to commit some actions, but still does it.
* WhyDidYouMakeMeHitYou: Shows signs of this throughout the third story. A significant example is after he launches the [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Backup Plan]], a WeaponOfMassDestruction, when he blames the heroes for pushing him to use it.

The Glitch King’s daughter, and the princess of The Glitch Empire, who wants to keep lrder in the universe. Despite acting strict and trying to capture people seen as a “threat to the peace”, she does truly care for her kind, and states she will do anything for them. At the end of the second story, she successfully captured the Black Nebula. However, she redeemed herself in the third story, and joined the protectorate. After defeating her father, she became the new Queen, trying to undo what her father had done.
----
* ActionGirl: She’s skilled with two swords, and isn’t a stranger to fighting.
* AmbiguouslyGay: She gets flustered by Tetra asking if she wanted to hook up.
* AntiVillain: She supports her father because she believes that he’s doing what’s best for everyone.
* TheBadGuyWins: The second story ends in her victory, with her capturing the heroes and taking them to her father.
* BenevolentBoss: She treats her glitch soldiers well, even feeling sad when they die for her.
* CallingTheOldManOut: She does this to her father, calling him out on all he’s done and refusing to work for him any longer.
* DualWielding: She specialises in this.
* EatingMachine: Despite being a glitch that ate mostly metallic food, she enjoyed eating a hylotl dish, showing she can easily eat food not intended for the glitch.
* HeelFaceTurn: She has a redemption arc in the third story, slowly realising the error of her and her fathers ways. It also helps that she finds out that her father was keeping secrets from her.
* HeelRealisation: Her redemption arc in the third story starts out with a heel realisation that the outside universe isn’t as bad as her father says.
* ManipulativeBitch: She’s tricked glitch rebels by pretending to be one of them in the past, only to thwart their plans last minute. She also faked her death at the end of the second story.
* PrettyPrincessPowerhouse: She looks pretty, but she is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Hell, not just in her physical abilities, but also her intelligence, as she’s a cunning trickster.
* PoliticallyActivePrincess: She took part in a lot of the glitch empire’s work, and even went out to capture the Black Nebula and Azima’s crew herself.
* ShrinkingViolet: She used to be this in the past, and was implied as such at the end of the first story. {{Subverted}} HARD, as over 6 offscreen months, she became much more confident.
* VillainousPrincess: She’s the princess of the glitch empire, and an antagonist for a good segment of the story.
* WarriorPrincess: She may be a princess, but she is a very skilled fighter who uses two swords with ease.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Just like her father, she believes that taking over the universe is what’s best for everyone, as he’s trying to keep order so that everyone is safe. She outright states that she’ll do anything for her kind, even extreme measures. {{Subverted}} after her redemption, where she stops doing extreme acts in order to not end up like her father.
* YouAreInCommandNow: She takes over the glitch empire after her fathers death, and safe to say, she made it all a much better place, working hard to undo what her father did.

An Admiral for the Miniknog, she is a sadistic and fiery apex who wants to keep absolute order for her own power hungry desires. She takes delight in torturing apex rebels, and likes to break people down as much as she can. She is Tatasia’s mother, and to call her abusive would be an understatement.
----
* AbusiveParent: She is this and '''much''' more. She treats her children horribly, giving them extremely dangerous training, shouting at them 24/7, using violence constantly, and she even kills her own son by torturing him to death, while making her daughter watch. She then saws her arm off afterwards.
* TheBrute: Relies solely on her anger, intimidation and raw strength.
* CardCarryingVillain: She admits she’s a bad person and isn’t ashamed of it.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Has done this to countless rebels, and even her own children.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: As much as she tries to hide it out of fear of coming off as "weak", [[spoiler:she genuinely loved her late husband. The reason she became even worse towards her children after his death is because she blamed them for it.]]
* HateSink: There is pretty much NOTHING likeable about her. She’s sadistic, cruel, violent, power hungry and abusive, and made her kids childhoods absolute hell. She tortures people on a whim, and even admits she’s an awful person. [[spoiler: While she had a rough life growing up, it isn’t played for sympathy, and parts of it only solidify how bad she is. Hell, she used her husbands death as an excuse to become even MORE abusive towards her children.]]
* {{Sadist}}: She loves hurting others, and isn’t afraid to admit it.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Of the Glitch Empire. Downplayed because as a whole, they are villainous, but at least they have some altruistic intentions, with Stormlance and Moonquill being well intentioned extremists, and Ironwall doing everything out of loyalty to his king. Kleriya, however, is nothing more then a sadistic, power hungry monster, who is far less sympathetic then the other members of the Glitch Empire, and doesn’t even try to hide her ill intent.
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler: She goes outright feral in the climax of the third story, turning outright savage and trying to brutally kill Tatasia, Nightheart, Katsu and Kumiko like a wild beast.]]

Katsu’s childhood bully. A popular model in the Solunar Nexus star system, [[spoiler: but she is secretly the head of the Floran Extermination Order, a racist organisation dedicated to wiping out the floran race. At the end of the story, it is revealed she wants to destroy the entire star system, as she sees it as "too dangerous" due to its diversity in races, and that the only way to help bring "peace to the universe" is to destroy it all. Not only that, but she also had intentions of wiping out all races and planets she saw as "uncivilised".]]
----
* AbsoluteXenophobe: While most of her racism is directed at florans, other races aren’t safe. She believes most other races to be uncivilised.
* AlphaBitch: In her high school days, she was nothing more then a self righteous bitch who loved bullying others. She never grows out of this, either.
* TheBully: She bullied Katsu, and many others.
* DaddysGirl: If there’s one nice thing we can say about her, it’s that she genuinely loves her father.
* FinalSolution: Leads the Floran Extermination Order, an organization with the goal of wiping out all Florans. [[spoiler: Cranked up to eleven when she targets the entire Star System.]]
* HolierThanThou: She’s so self righteous, she even downright says the name of this trope in all seriousness.
* KnightTemplar: Refuses to see herself as anything less than a saint, no matter what she does. She also expects others to do the same, and believes everyone remaining will see her as the hero after her plan is finished.
* {{Narcissist}}: She thinks very highly of herself and her views, and is quick to dismiss what anyone else says. At the end of the day, in her view, only what she thinks is right matters.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler: She claims that her genocide of florans and attempted destruction of Solunar Nexus is for a good cause… but it’s not. She’s only doing those because she personally believes that florans are savage, and that Solunar Nexus doesn’t deserve to live for it’s diversity of races. Really, she’s only doing it for herself.]]
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: She’s racist, and not afraid to show it. [[spoiler: She even commits genocide on florans.]] She is also shown to have homophobic views, as she ditched Kumiko when she found out that she had a crush on her, and also called Robin sinful for being a lesbian.
* PunishedForSympathy: [[spoiler: She kills one of her agents for refusing to kill a floran child.]]
* RedemptionRejection: [[spoiler: When Katsu gives her a chance to stop her rampage, as well as trying to reach out to any good that may be left in her, she refuses to back down, refuting or ignoring all his points.]]
* ShutUpKirk: [[spoiler: She rejects Katsu’s offer to stop in the most smug way possible.]]
* SoftSpokenSadist: She may be calm, but she enjoys bullying others. [[spoiler: She’s even smiling as a floran village burns to the ground at her own hands.]]
* SmugSnake: She’s very egotistical, smug and isn’t afraid to show off her ego.
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler: Has a MAJOR one at the climax of the first story, where she goes on an angry rant at the Black Nebula and begins insulting everyone.]]
* WouldHurtAChild: [[spoiler: She tries to force one of her agents to kill a floran toddler. When he refuses, she proceeds to drown the child herself.]]
* WoundedGazelleGambit: She is very good at playing the victim, as Katsu acknowledged, and even stabbed herself in the leg with a knife to make him, Tori and Ethyl look like crazed attackers in pubblic.

An outlaw with a split personality disorder, who kills just for fun, and enjoys the thrill of heists and murder. He was once [[spoiler: Ethyl's partner in crime, until he betrayed him due to disapproving of the murderous path he was going down. He is also responsible for turning Ethyl into an outlaw]].
----
* AxCrazy: He’s an utterly crazy killer, and is confirmed to be insane by Ethyl. That's what a very bad concussion will do to ya.
* CardCarryingVillain: He gloats about how evil he is on a regular basis, even calling a prison cell his “Evil Lair”.
* ConcussionsGetYouHigh: A very dramatic example. Desert always was a manipulative, nasty piece of outlaw work, but at least used to just be a SoftSpokenSadist who stopped at armed robberies. One day, however, a robbery he and Ethyl were doing went south and he hit his head against a rock hard enough to get a split personality, with the AxCrazy one often taking over, and Desert started going for a more...gratuitously murderous-y MO.
* EveryoneHasStandards: He is aptly defined by Ethyl as "crazy as popcorn on flamin' hot stove", but even Desert finds Robin's priorities to be [[SkewedPriorities pretty skewed]] as she begins going off about breasts even if she should be focusing on the gang of psychopathic gunmen right in front of her.
* EvilIsAngular: Villains seldom gets more angular than this: on top of his spikey head-shape, his brand is straight-up a triangle.
* EvilIsHammy: His crazier side is loud, morbidly energetic and, when not killing people left and right, he sings to himself and dances around (horribly).
* ForTheEvulz: Every crime he commits is simply because he can, and he loves it. Hell, he treats his mass murdering sprees like getting an high-score in a videogame!
* TheGunslinger: Wields two guns with ease.
* InsultBackfire: A CardCarryingVillain like him will obviously take YouMonster remarks in stride. When a disgusted Nightheart calls his latest carnage vile, Desert thanks him.
* LaughablyEvil: Despite being downright evil, his split personality leads to some pretty hilarious dialogue.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: At one point, he explains his worldview as "Life is just a video game, and its name is ''Videogame/{{Starbound}}''!" which is technically correct, but he's not actually self-aware as much as he is an unhinged lunatic with a fragile grip on reality.
* MoodSwinger: He will go from an AxCrazy, [[EvilIsHammy hammy]] maniac to a SoftSpokenSadist and then back to a LargeHam at the drop of a cowboy hat.
* PsychopathicManchild: A cartoonishly CardCarryingVillain who will murder hundreds and be delighted for getting "a new highscore", it's very clear that something is very wrong with Desert, and he knows and revels in it with glee that the narrative outright describes as child-like.
* RedIsViolent: An orange Novakid dressed in mostly red, and a crazed gunman who will shoot and blow up anyone he damn so pleases.
* RedOniBlueOni:
** Due to having a split personality, one collected, cold and [[SoftSpokenSadist soft-spoken]], the other [[AxCrazy completely batshit, murderous]] and [[EvilIsHammy hammy]], he manages to be the Red Oni ''and'' the Blue Oni to '''himself'''.
** With Mika, she is obliviously the more devious and better-functioning Blue to the Red Oni of Desert's loud, maniacal side. Funnily enough, however, his collected side is kind of a Blue Oni to her instead, as he's sophisticated and at the very least has much more [[CardCarryingVillain self-awareness]] than the [[KnightTemplar delusional]] hyotl, who really expects to be seen as a hero for [[spoiler: committing genocide.]]
* {{Sadist}}: He takes sadism in all his evil actions and is always having the time of his life when ending others' by the dozens.
* SucksAtDancing: When dancing to himself in his cell, the narrative points out that he is doing so horribly.

* IncompatibleOrientation: The reason she broke up with Katsu. However, the two remain close friends.

Robin’s grandfather who she had never met until recently. While he pretends to be an Ex-Stargazer Priest that feels remorse for his actions and wants to help the Black Nebula stop the Stargazers from getting the Ancient Kluex Staff, it’s later revealed that he never left the stargazers, and is also revealed to be a Stargazer Prophet who wants to eradicate all grounded avians to “please Kluex”, so he can gain wings in the afterlife.
----
* AbusiveParent: {{Downplayed}}. He wasn’t super abusive, but he wasn’t a good father, either. He didn’t care about his son, and since he only saw him as an extension of himself, he was very harsh and strict with him. Becomes Played Straight when he has no problems killing him in Robins place.
* TheAtoner: He claims that he wants to atone for his actions as a stargazer. {{Subverted}} when it turns out he was lying.
* EvilAllAlong: He pretends to have reformed, but he truly hasn’t, and was only manipulating the black nebula into a fatal trap.
* FauxAffablyEvil: When he’s still pretending to be a good person, he acts very polite and calm. Of course, this is all an act.
* FinalSolution: When he gets his staff, he immediately goes to target all Grounded Avians.
* ForTheEvulz: He had NO REASON to torture Ethyl, Robin and Lexie with hallucinations, and yet he did. The reason for this isn’t even known, so it’s likely he did it just for fun.
* FreudianExcuseDenial: He grew up under the Stargazers in a DarkAndTroubledPast. His family knew the Stargazers were evil, especially his sister, who ends up being sacrificed right in front of him. He mentions having been traumatized by this event, but instead of seeing the Stargazers as evil, he joins them, and rejects the idea that anything bad ever happened to him, seeing these events as necessary towards his "growth" as a person.
* GruesomeGrandparent: He tried to sacrifice Robin when she was only 3 years old. Later, he comes back, feigning remorse... then it is all revealed to be an act as he tries to kill her once again.
* KnightTemplar: He vehemently defends his and the Stargazers' actions, seeing himself and them as saints, and anyone who opposes them as evil. He sees nothing wrong with how the Stargazers handle things, not even after they harm his loved ones. Instead, he wholeheartedly believes that they were necessary sacrifices, and has no qualms with sending more of his family to be sacrificed. He is deluded to the point of seeing the heroes like this.
* LoveIsAWeakness: He cuts off all his emotional connections because he doesn't want to be held back by them.
* OffingTheOffspring: He originally intended to sacrifice his granddaughter to Kluex. But, he had no problem killing his son instead.
* PragmaticVillainy: Is only loyal to Kluex because of the promise of reward. He confirms it after betraying the heroes.
* SoftSpokenSadist: While he isn’t crazy about this, he’s clearly enjoying the pain he puts people through.
* WouldHurtAChild: Had no problems sacrificing his 3 year old granddaughter.

----
* BerserkButton: Disrespecting Kluex in anyway will send him on an angry rant at best, or at worst, burning you alive with a flamethrower.
* TheDragon: [[spoiler: While he appears to be calling the shots, he is secretly this to Xochtal.]]
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler: He decides that he’d rather die a hero to Kluex then go to prison, and of course, he tried to go out while killing Azima, which luckily fails, but he still dies.]]
* EvilIsPetty: One of his main character traits is his pettiness. He literally murders his pilot for saying “Jesus Christ”, as he thought that the avian was becoming a Christian instead of a Kluexist.
