!!Emperor's Coven
----
[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:In General]]
* BigBadEnsemble: The Coven as a whole is the main antagonistic force of the series in the Boiling Isles, with the Emperor having his soldiers arrest and imprison wild witches as part of his plans for the Day of Unity.
* FunWithAcronyms: Their superhero team, the Boiling Isles Guardians, also goes by B.I.G.
* PoliceAreUseless: Book 2 paints them in this light due to their inability to stop the muggings [[spoiler:and their lack of attempts to find out who's kidnapping people]]. It leads to several citizens taking matters into their own hands to solve said problems.

[[folder:Emperor Belos]]
!!Emperor Belos
The Emperor of the Boiling Isles, and overseer of the coven system, he was once [[spoiler:Philip Clawthorne, a human who was adopted by witches when he ended up in the Boiling Isles years ago.]]
----
* AdaptationalIntelligence: Being a master chess player has made this version of Belos smarter and more prone to thinking ahead, which makes him much more dangerous. For one, he actually thinks to have Eda checked over after capturing her, which is how he obtains her portal intact. Before then, [[spoiler:he uses Hunter to spy on Luz, later has him bug both the Owl House and Blight Manor in order to spy on them and whatever plans they make against him and he was able to correctly guess that Luz would try to break the BAT's out of the conformatorium following their arrests, ''[[PunctuatedForEmphasis right. Down. To correctly predicting. THE EXACT NIGHT SHE'D ATTEMPT IT!]]'']] If that last one doesn't prove how cunning he is, you ''really'' underestimate him. There's also the fact that [[spoiler:as Philip, he discovered the light glyph without needing Luz to travel back in time to teach it to him]].
* AdaptationalNameChange: Before he became Belos, he was known as [[spoiler:Philip Clawthorne due to being adopted into the Clawthorne family. While his human parents were still the Wittebanes, that name means nothing to him]].
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Yeah, believe it or not, he does show such traits. WordOfGod confirms that [[spoiler:as a result of him growing up in the Isles in this version of the series, he didn't develop the same prejudices as his canon counterpart. His relationship with Hunter here is also much healthier, though he's still not above lying to Hunter and taking advantage of his relationships with other people. But when he realizes that he put too much pressure on Hunter and was too hasty in getting his nephew ready for the Day of Unity, Belos decides to take Hunter off the field and put him in therapy.]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: Nevertheless, Belos is actually looking to have been made even more underhanded than he is in the parent work. He's shown actively killing people who he sees as a threat to his plans, has an alliance with [[spoiler:the Horned King]], takes several precautions to keep tabs on Luz at all times, and [[spoiler:he plans to possess her as a back-up body in case he not live to see the Day of Unity.]]
* AdaptationSpeciesChange: While the show eventually confirmed whether he's [[spoiler:still]] human or not, [[spoiler:it's stated that he has evolved into a Titan, alongside being human before that]].
%%* AlwaysABiggerFish
* AmbiguouslyGay: [[spoiler:While he has no LoveInterest in canon and is hinted to see non-heteronormative relationships as sinful, he was open-minded enough to have a boyfriend named Adam in his youth as revealed in Chapter 70: "Tragedy at Eclipse Lake.]]
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Even more jarring case than in canon. [[spoiler:Once human, he eventually evolved into a 'cambion' living in the Isles and becoming infused with magic.]]
* AmbiguousSituation: Like in canon, it is uncertain whether or not he can truly talk to the Titan and to what extent.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: As Anu Bist, Puck, and even Luz learned the hard way, he's no slouch in a fight. Belos always plans ahead in order to win any battle he participates in.
* TheBadGuyWins:
** Book One ends with Belos [[spoiler:killing Puck and framing him as a dangerous criminal, severely injuring Anu Bist, and getting the portal door from Eda]].
** In Chapter 141: "Storming the Castle", he [[spoiler:kills King to acquire Titan's blood for a new portal key to use Eda's door, possesses Luz, and uses her to ''kill'' Amity using an iron dagger. On top of that, he keeps the rebellion from rescuing Hunter and Willow by having them sent to the Titan's Skull beforehand and [[PowerLimiter branded]] Willow with a plant coven sigil.]]
* BatmanGambit:
** Pulls this off at the end of Book One. [[spoiler:By publicly announcing the petrification of the Clawthornes, he knows that he can use them as bait to draw in Puck so he can finish him off]].
** He does it again near the end of Book 2, [[spoiler:thanks to keeping Firebees alive long enough. He has the sociopath set the Torso Villa aflame so as to kill the werecat population and break the spirits of any survivors so they won't fight back against him before the Day of Unity.]]
* BigBad: He's one of the many villains in the story but currently the Biggest Bad of all. As per canon, he has any witches who refuse to follow his dogma be punished while working towards his goal of enacting the Day of Unity. [[spoiler:However, he claims to want to "protect" the Boiling Isles and intends to start a war with the Human Realm, convinced someone there is trying to invade and destroy the Isles and wanting to use Luz as a LivingWeapon to succeed.]]
* BrokenPedestal: As always, anybody who learns of his true motives, such as Lilith, will lose all respect for him. Unlike canon, it's a bit unintentional.
** Attempting to petrify Eda, [[spoiler:putting on a front of killing Luz so he could kill Puck and actually killing him]] is what turns Amity away from ever joining the Emperor's Coven and joining the Clawthornes in actively opposing him.
** [[spoiler:Nearly petrifying Luz]] also has the end result of turning all of Luz's friends against him, to the point of [[spoiler:them starting up a protest club against his rule]] to speak out and rally people against his cruelty.
** [[spoiler:Even his old friend Eclipsa Butterfly comes to hate what he's become. Belos personally promised Eclipsa that he wouldn't harm Amity for being half-Fae after saying so to the population, but hearing that he cruelly murdered her after taking control of Luz causes Eclipsa to see that Philip no longer exists and Belos' vow to find her daughter means nothing and he'll probably only do so just to kill Meteora, too.]]
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: He considers Luz integral to his plans since [[spoiler:they share the same backgrounds]] and he wants her to rule alongside him. He later comes to see Amity in the same light due to her power and Chapter 79 reveals that he also has plans for [[spoiler:Willow]] in the Day of Unity.
* TheChessmaster: A literal one, as seen in "Family Group Therapy" where he explains the game to Kikimora, who is unfamiliar with it.
* CrazyPrepared: Once again, as [[spoiler:Anu Bist and Puck]] learned the hard way, because Belos set up percautionary spells that allow him to be faster than them in their fight.
** As "Chapter 71: The Hunting Witch" reveals, [[spoiler:he has a back-up plan for the off-chance he dies before the Day of Unity: possess Luz's body through the mental link he created when he ordered Luz and Eda to be petrified and hit her with a spell to "calm Luz down". This will allow him to slowly take control of her because he needs another cambion body to survive.]]
* CreateYourOwnHero: "Heroes", as the case may be. His BatmanGambit to petrify the Clawthornes [[spoiler:(Luz included as far as everyone knows) and Puck's death]] gets Amity to see him as the tyrant he is, and learning about his plans [[spoiler:to use Luz's cambion form to kickstart a war against the Human Realm]] leads to Luz and Amity's friends planning to find a way to fight against his tyranny.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: At the same time, his actions have led to multiple villains rising. [[spoiler:Philip's attempt to unite the Human and Demon Realms led to both the Inner Demon using the Horned King's power to become a mind demon, Gabriel Gates beginning his crusade to wipe out witchkind with his descendants following his goal for generations, and the creation of Bloody Mary when she tried to return to the Demon Realm and became a HumanoidAbomination herself. He also fought and scarred King Andrias when he approached him for help in defeating the Exorcists which seems to have gone wrong, leading to the would-be warlord to plan on invading the Boiling Isles once he reclaimed the Calamity Box.]]
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler:"The Hunting Witch" shows that this is his plan for Luz and her "important role" in the war against the Human Realm, hence the mind-link spell he used to prepare for that possibility. In "Storming the Castle", he goads Luz and Maya into getting angry at him by killing King in order to get Maya to leave Luz's mindscape unguarded. While Luzaya destroys his original body, he succeeds in taking control of Luz. Believing the Horned King would finish Luz off, he didn't expect her to kick him out of her mind and free herself of his control in "Battle of the Titans".]]
* DidntThinkThisThrough: A trait he shares with his canon self;
** He tries to convince Luz to join the Emperor's Coven to help her [[spoiler:learn to control her magic]] but his actions towards Eda and lying about petrifying them don't help. He tries to do the same to Amity, but by [[spoiler:killing Puck]], he makes her see him for the tyrant he is.
** [[spoiler:He used a mind-link spell to give him the precaution of being able to transfer his consciousness into Luz's body as a back-up, but this results in Luz seeing some of his memories as Philip and causes him to suffer from the Common Mold symptoms when she falls ill to the sickness.]]
* TheDragonslayer: Chapters 106 and 107 reveal that Belos is one of these, [[spoiler:having led the extermination of dragonkind because he saw them as practitioners of wild magic. In Chapter 143: "Battle of the Titans" when Cross and Zee join the fray during the Battle in the Skull to save Luz from his possession, he declares that he'll finish what he started and wipe out the dragon race by killing them.]]
* TheDreaded: Amity is rightfully terrified when she has to face Belos while trying to rescue Luz.
* DreamingOfThingsToCome: [[spoiler:Thanks to the Weird Sisters showing him visions of the future, he's actively working to prevent the Boiling Isles being laid to waste by the [[KillerRobot Exorcists]] created by Department A.]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes:
** His nephew, Hunter. [[spoiler:When he learns that Kikimora tried to have Hunter killed, Belos is furious and has her demoted, threatening to kill her if she ever tries to hurt Hunter again.]]
** His lover, [[spoiler:Adam]]. [[spoiler:From what both Belos and Ghost have stated about the subject, Belos cared deeply about him and he remembers him with some regret over losing him.]]
* EvilLearnsOfOutsideContext: In the first chapter of Book 2, he [[spoiler:senses the Guardian as it watches him, something that shouldn't be possible.]]
%%* FakeUltimateHero
* FamilyValuesVillain: Deconstructed. Belos claims that everything he does is for the safety of his family, but his actions say otherwise. [[spoiler:He treats the coven heads who are loyal to him like family more than his adopted descendants, as he keeps calling Luz family but plans to possess her. When Lilith left the Emperor's Coven, he pretty much disowned her and allows her to suffer Titan-wide humiliation and shaming which Hunter calls him out on in Chapter 131: "Hollow Mind at Last"; the same chapter implies that he no longer sees Luz as family since she doesn't agree with his goals. Chapter 141 continues on this by his murdering King, an adopted Clawthorne, because his being a Titan makes him a threat to his plans and admitting he doesn't see him as such. WordOfGod has said he also doesn't consider Zee family due to not being of Clawthorne blood, and Chapter 143 hints that he didn't consider Cross (an actual Clawthorne by blood) family either due to his dragon genetics.]]
* FantasticRacism: Belos is confirmed to hate every species that isn't witchkind, a stark contrast to his canon self. He revived and tortured the basilisks, hates the Fae due to [[spoiler:Oberon kidnapping an infant Meteora Butterfly right after Eclipsa entrusted her daughter with him]], hates humanity due to [[spoiler:G.B. Gates betraying him by killing several members of his adopted family and stealing the portal]], forced [[spoiler:lycans]] into secrecy while [[spoiler:subjugating werecats and restricting them to the Torso Villa]], is implied to hate [[spoiler:Amphibians due to King Andrias rejecting his proposal to help him stop the threat he saw in his visions]], and committed genocide against [[spoiler:dragonkind]] for alledgedly practicing WildMagic. [[spoiler:In fact, Belos' bigotry towards humanity is so infinite, he plans to send the Horned King to Earth to feast on them as revenge for what the Gates family did to his family and boyfriend.]]
* FinalSolution: Chapters 106 and 107 state that he committed mass genocide to [[spoiler:dragonkind after using the were-fever outbreak during the Savage Ages as a cover to declare the dragons threats for allegedly practicing WildMagic. This solution was not really final, as Talon Drakescale slipped through his grasp and continued his bloodline disguised as a witch, leading to the the current Drakescale clan (Cross, Zee, Damien, & Drayden), one of whom ironically being his descendant.]]
* FreudianExcuse: He has a deep hatred towards the Fae stemming from both the story of the Pied Piper and an encounter with [[spoiler:Lord Oberon, who kidnapped Meteora Butterfly while he was caring for her at Eclipsa's request and turned her into a Fae.]] As such he treats the entire race with scorn, having [[spoiler:dropped the Collector's mirror down the Titan's Skull after killing G.B. Gates so no one else could free them and use their power, and when he learns Amity's half-Fae he makes no efforts to put off taking care of her until Eclipsa stops him.]]
* HappilyAdopted: He and his brother were taken in by witches in their youth. [[spoiler:The Book 1 epilouge reveals they were adopted into the Clawthorne family.]]
* HorrifyingTheHorror: [[spoiler:Belos, a centuries-old human/cambion, actually gets a fearful reaction out of ''Bill Cipher'', an psychopathic, near-omnipotent, ''inter-dimensional'' '''''demon''''' who's commited far more shocking crimes, when his inner self takes on his TranshumanAbomination form.]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: He has the audacity to call out Lilith for [[spoiler:using Amity to spy on Luz and Eda]], and yet has no qualms about having Hunter do the ''exact same thing''.
* INeedYouStronger: [[spoiler:He wants to help Luz master her natural magic and her cambion form just so he can use her as a weapon for his war against the Human Realm.]]
* InSpiteOfANail: "Battle of the Titans" ends with Belos [[spoiler:being killed by a Clawthorne while barely being able to keep his decomposing body from melting.]]
* IntergenerationalFriendship: He has one with Abel Reisender, [[spoiler:who may be several millenia old.]]
* KnightTemplarParent: Belos is devoted to protecting Hunter should anything threaten him and he is viciously cutthroat to anyone who does, [[spoiler:as Kikimora learned the hard way when she tried to assassinate the boy.]]
* LongLostRelative: PlayedWith. [[spoiler:Belos is an technical ancestor of the Clawthorne family after being adopted into it, so he's related to the current three generations. However, they don't know about him being related to them and there's no official records of Philip Clawthorne.]]
* MasterOfIllusion: As the Book 1 finale shows, he's able to create very realistic illusions and nearly managed to break Amity's resolve with them.
* MoralMyopia: As previously stated, he begins [[spoiler:having Hunter spy on Luz as a way to monitor her condition]] to see what use Luz has for his plans, but he has the nerve to call out Lilith for [[spoiler:having her goddaughter spy on her family to get to know them]].
* NobleDemon: The reason behind his actions and why he's working towards the "Day of Unity" is to [[spoiler:prevent a greater catastrophe]]. However, his actions in doing so make this quite zig-zagged.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: Try as he might to deny it, his actions spell out how demented his endgame really is. [[spoiler:Belos wants to save the Boiling Isles from a disaster he saw in a vision, but spent centuries trying to figure out a way to prevent it, which resulted in the murders of several other witches. His family and his boyfriend were killed as a result of him trying to make peace with human witch hunters, and when he tried to gain power by contacting the Horned King, it led to the destruction of his sister's palisman.]] All that combined with his refusal to find another solution paints Belos close to the same kind of GloryHound he was in canon.
%%* ObviousVillainSecretVillain
* OpenMindedParent: He has no problems with Hunter seeing [[spoiler:Edric]], though he does take advantage of Hunter's relationship by having him [[spoiler:bug Blight Manor while visiting his boyfriend]].
* OpportunisticBastard: He is quick to try and capitalize on any situation to fit his agenda, manipulating [[spoiler:Odalia and Alador not even a minute after learning Amity became nameless]] and taking credit for [[spoiler:Eda taking down the Tarot Guild in order to win back the populace's trust for not prioritizing finding the kidnapping victims.]]
* PetTheDog:
** Apparently in the early days of his rule, he decided to free the house elves of the Boiling Isles and make it law that they had to be paid for their service.
** When he finds out about [[spoiler:Camila coming back from the dead]] he decides against doing anything about it at the moment, saying that Luz and [[spoiler:Luz and her birth mother deserve to enjoy their reunion.]]
** [[spoiler:Seeing how much the Weird Sisters' visions have affected Hunter's mental health and after talking about it with Darius, Belos decides to pull Hunter out of the field for the time being and put him in therapy.]]
* SelfFulfillingProphecy: [[spoiler:Belos trying to prevent the Boiling Isles' destruction may have actually caused the threat that would cause that event, as "Chapter 116: Brooken Home" shows. By bringing G.B. Gates to the Demon Realm as Philip, he caused the Gates family's anti-magic crusade and the rise of the Archangels. This resulted in the creation and use of the Exbots that destroyed Mewni; in other words, he ''made'' the visions he saw happen.]]
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Belos plays as much a major role in [[spoiler:Vanz Ator]]'s life as he did his and more; [[spoiler:In the 17th century, Philip found a way to and from the Human Realm and brought Vanz back with him. This led to Vanz being turned into a vampire and his living to unknowingly cause the events that brought Luz to the Boiling Isles.]]
* SmartPeoplePlayChess: Befitting his status as TheChessmaster, Belos treats his plans as a game of chess, being able to think several steps ahead of his enemies. He learned how to play the game thanks to [[spoiler:Vanz Ator back when he was human]].
* ThatManIsDead: He never acknowledged [[spoiler:his human name, saying the name "Wittebane" meant nothing to him]].
%%* TragicVillain
* VillainRespect: After Amity dispells his illusions in their fight, he admits her magic could become more powerful than both Clawthorne sisters combined one day.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Claims to be this to Hunter, saying that everything they do is [[spoiler:necessary to save the Boiling Isles and prevent a bad future that was shown to him centuries ago.]]
* WeUsedToBeFriends: "Deserve Nothing" reveals that he was once acquainted with [[spoiler:Flapjack and Ghost]], the latter left after seeing him [[spoiler:consume a palisman's essence]], and the former disappeared [[spoiler:after William's supposed death at the temple where Philip tried to contact the Horned King and his siblings prevented him.]]

Emperor Belos's [[spoiler:former]] personal attendant, a high-ranking member of his coven and a part of his inner circle. [[spoiler:After Belos learned about her attempt on Hunter's life, he has her demoted to coven scout]].
----
* AdaptationalKarma: [[spoiler:For trying to assassinate Hunter, Kikimora gets her face kicked in by Luz until she coughs up blood and is later tortured by Belos, who spares her life but decides to have her demoted to coven scout.]]
* AdaptationalLateAppearance: She debuts an episode later than she did in canon, showing up during a flashback set after the events of "Hooty's Moving Hassle".
* ButtMonkey: [[spoiler:Following her demotion]], Kikimora is repeatedly mocked by the coven scouts and receives NoSympathy when she gets herself injured.
* EvilIsPetty: [[spoiler:She outs Lilith as the one who cursed Eda just to get one over on her in Chapter 96, and swiftly pays for it the next day.]]
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Hardly anybody respected her before [[spoiler:her demotion]], with all the Coven Heads agreeing it was a relief that they [[spoiler:no longer have to deal with her.]]
* LaserGuidedKarma:
** [[spoiler:After outing Lilith for cursing Eda and selling anti-Lilith merch to the angry mob demanding her head, Eda sics Hooty on her and he swallows Kikimora whole.]]
** [[spoiler:Luz adds on to the previous batch of karmic justice by flinging Kikimora into a manure kart while impersonating a coven scout and lambasting Kikimora for violating a fake law.]]
* ThrowTheDogABone: Abel allows her to skip out on the Coven Day Parade in Chapter 76 so she can attend her family reunion in Palm Stings. She later gets to watch the video of Terra ranting that makes her look foolish.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Abel Reisender]]
!!Abel Reisender
An old friend of Belos who becomes his [[spoiler:new assistant]] and Hunter's therapist after the events of "Deserve Nothing".
----
* AmbiguouslyHuman: He may look like a witch, but it's hinted several times that Abel is the same kind of being as [[spoiler:Julia Traveler]].
* AmbiguousSituation: Abel's been in league with Belos [[spoiler:ever since he was Philip]] and aids him in his plans for the Day of Unity without expressing any desire than for it to succeed.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: He's working for Belos in accomplishing their goal for the Day of Unity, yet he helps Hunter with his problems and [[spoiler:guides him in becoming more independent from his uncle]]. On top of that, he [[spoiler:tries to talk Lilith into letting Luz kill Philip while they were visiting the Deadwardian Era]], his motive for such a deed unclear.
* BenevolentBoss: The coven scouts prefer him over Kikimora because he is this compared to her.
* ConnectedAllAlong: [[spoiler:Ms Traveler confirmed in Chapter 104 that she has a connection to him, but said connection is still unclear.]]
* TheDragon: He's the closest to this that Belos has, as he's his oldest ally who [[spoiler:taught him magic and attempts to persuade Hunter into returning to the castle rather than remain with Lilith after she becomes a pariah.]]
* EvilCounterpart: Implied to be one to Ms. Traveler as she helps children, especially the heroic main cast, while Abel is in league with the villainous Emperor and his followers.
* {{Familiar}}: When he makes his debut, he's shown to have an Oni for a palisman.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: He's [[spoiler:implied to be several millenia]] old and allied with Emperor Belos. He also has one with Hunter [[spoiler:only for him to become suspicious of Abel during his time away from the castle.]]
* MagicStaff: Like Ms. Traveler, his staff doubles as an umbrella.
* MeaningfulName: His last name is German for "traveler", which hints at him being similar or having some connection to Ms. Traveler.
* TheMentor: He's been this for Belos [[spoiler:since back when he was Philip, even teaching him how to use magic.]]
* MirrorCharacter: He's one for Julia Traveler. Both are advisors with a MysteriousPast and are OlderThanTheyLook who carry umbrellas and care about the mental health of the people they are helping. But unlike Ms. Traveler, Abel is helping the villains instead of the heroes.
* MysteriousPast: Despite being an old friend of Belos, none of the Coven Heads except for Terra even knew that he existed. According to her, he's disappeared and reappeared several times over the decades. Osran even performed a background check and found nothing. [[spoiler:He's also at least hundreds of years old.]]
%%*ObviousVillainSecretVillain
* OlderThanTheyLook: PlayedWith. He's an old man, but [[spoiler:flashbacks show he's been around since Philip's youth.]]
* SecretKeeper: He's keeping all of the skeletons in Belos' closet, such as his past and the truth about Hunter between them.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Averted. He was called in by Belos for the task of giving Hunter therapy and starts having sessions with Steve over [[spoiler:Amity's disappearance]] as revealed in "Chapter 76: A Coven Day Disaster".
* VillainousFriendship: Again, he sides with Emperor Belos [[spoiler:and their friendship spans around the course of over 300 years.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Original Golden Guard]]
!!The Original Golden Guard/[[spoiler:William Clawthorne]]
Hunter's predecessor and Darius's mentor. The original Golden Guard helped Belos to create the Emperor's Coven and the coven system. [[spoiler:He was actually Belos's human brother William, who also ended up in the Demon Realm and was adopted by witches.]]
----
* AdaptationalBackstoryChange: [[spoiler:Caleb Wittebane was a human who may have fallen in love with Evelyn Clawthorne and fathered a child with her before he was killed by his brother Philip. Here, he ended up in the Demon Realm as a child, was renamed to William, and lost his firstborn son in a fire caused by human witch hunters.]]
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: He was introduced in flashbacks between the events of "Wing It Like Witches" and "Agony of a Witch" rather than pictures in "Yesterday's Lie".
* AdaptationNameChange: In canon, he was known as [[spoiler:Caleb Wittebane, though there is still a character named Caleb.]] Double subverted when [[spoiler:it turns out he was renamed to William after losing his memories and being taken in by the Clawthrones.]]
* AdaptationSpeciesChange: [[spoiler:While he remained human in canon, he ends up evolving into an alleged 'cambion' here.]]
* AmbiguousSituation: Whether or not he is really [[spoiler:William Clawthorne and Hunter's father]] was unclear at first, though it was later confirmed during [[spoiler:"The Glandus War" arc that the former is true and the latter is not]].
* BabiesEverAfter: He and [[spoiler:Evelyn]] had kids in the past, one of which he named [[spoiler:Caleb]].
* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler:He and his brother were adopted into a family of witches when they were at least 16, later revealed to have been the Clawthornes.]]
* MythologyGag: His name is derived from Sir William, the possible-beta design for Hunter.
* PetTheDog: He was willing to let Lilith keep her Palisman after she joined the Emperor's Coven when he learned that she carved it with her father, Dell Clawthorne. He also offers Lilith his condolences for what happened to Dell.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Vina Charmspell]]
!!Vina Charmspell
A witch who was Lilith's predecessor as head of the Emperor's Coven and knew the original Golden Guard.
----
* TheAloner: As Chapter 105 shows, Vina avoided forming any meaningful personal relationships [[spoiler:because she found them to be a weakness. She even tried to instill this mindset on Lilith while she was still her apprentice.]]
* AmbiguouslyRelated: Whether or not she is really [[spoiler:Hunter's mother]] remains to be seen, [[spoiler:until Hunter being a grimwalker came to light]], which means she isn't.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: "Chapter 70: Tragedy at Eclipse Lake" reveals her as such. The Media Coven advertised her as a graceful leader, but in reality, she was [[spoiler:a ChildHater who smoked behind closed doors to deal with the stress of her job. Additionally, her first order to Lilith after she was forced to take her as an apprentice was to change her appearance to look more suitable to her.]]
* BrokenPedestal: She made [[spoiler:both Clawthorne sisters]] lose all respect for her in the past. [[spoiler:She discredited one of her own qoutes in a book she wrote in front of Eda before twlling her she'd never make it into the Emperor's Coven during the IFWOT, and she admits to hating children in front of Lilith beforw forcing her to conform to her demands so she would be TheApprentice she wanted, losing Lilith's respect and making her work as fast as possible to find her killer so she will be free of Vina for good.]]
* TheCorrupter: Hinted to be one for [[spoiler:Lilith, as she taunts her protégé for not getting Ulrich to consider turning on Belos until she tells Ulrich of his past as Philip, which Vina happily says is the Lilith she knows.]]
* InvisibleToNormals: [[spoiler:Chapter 107 sees her being bound to Lilith after her spirit returns, and since only Lilith can see her, Vina has to ask her for her help.]]
* LoveIsAWeakness: [[spoiler:Vina believes this, considering family bonds pointless and trying to force Lilith to see that in the past.]]
* TheMentor: She was Lilith's when she first joined the Emperor's Coven, not that she seemed to be a good one.
