!!The Fifth Graduating Class

The current generation of students attending to Bhikkhuni's Academy.

[[folder:In General]]
* AirBorneMooks: The Shooter Class is made entirely of these.
* EmpathicWeapon: Their performance as weapons is tied to their emotional state and bond with their Liberators. Koharu mentions during the first round of scheduled battles that she couldn't use her full power due to her partner being utterly terrified of facing Kongo in combat.
* EquippableAlly: As expected for Armed Virus Carriers; whoever's the Liberator for a fight is wielding their transformed partner as a weapon.
* FacelessGoons: They lack facial features in the few cutscenes they do show up.
** Subverted in ''Otherside'' and ''Bhikkhunism'' where they have unique appearances.
* GasMaskMooks: Aside from the Armed Class, every student wears either a mask, an elaborate headdress, or a scarf to hide their faces.
* MiniMook: The Shooter Class is the smallest of the bunch.
* MookDebutCutscene: A small card title with their picture and name shows each time a new class makes an appearance for the first time.
* MookMedic: The Support Class, who focuses on buffing their allies and running away from the player.
* OnlySixFaces: You face only five different kinds of students in combat:
** Armed Class: The lowest and more common kind of enemies, armed with a single weapon.
** Leader Class: Armed with Flamethrowers, capable of firing fiery blasts and coordinating the Armed students.
** Support Class: They focus on increase defense and recover the health of their partners.
** Mage Class: Able to attack at distance with their staffs.
** Shooter Class: Small, somewhat cute girls able to fly and fire energy blasts.
* PlayingWithFire: The Leader class is quite proficient in the use of Flamethrowers.
* RedShirtArmy: Since combat between them is not only an important element of their treatment program but also highly encouraged by the faculty, get used to mowing them down by the dozens through the entirety of the game. The only thing separating them from being regular {{Main/Mooks}} is the fact they are the classmates of the VR-Class and thus harbor no ill will against them.
** Played straight in the Order Route [[spoiler: when the robots set on you by Gundari take the aspect of the Fifth Class students clad in red and black armor]].
* UndergroundMonkey: The six enemy types (along with the robotic enemies) remain the same, but get steadily upgraded throughout the game with new appearances and color sets, equipment, and movesets.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: They have better control of their powers compared to other islands.
[[/folder]]

!!The VR Class

A special class formed by girls infected with the rare VR-Strain of the Armed Virus. Unlike the carriers of the A and the V-Strains, VR Carriers are able to assume the Liberator or Extar role at will and have greater power. All the playable characters are part of this class.

[[folder:In General]]
* ActionGirl: Having exceptional prowess in combat is a requirement to even get into this class, and regularly fighting each other is the only condition for staying on the island.
* BattleCouple: A given due to the way the Armed Virus works.
* CastFullOfGay: Once again, all of them are lesbians and they're not shy about showing their affections for each other.
* ChargedAttack: All of their signature attacks work like this.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: [[spoiler:Drawing their full power while in Extar form can put them out of commission for several days due to the extreme physical and mental stress they experience. Rinka discovered this after helping Momo to fight Professor Gouzanze]].
* EquippableAlly: All of them are able to transform into weapons.
* EmpathicWeapon: Their performance as weapons is tied to their emotional state and bond with their Liberators. Also, unlike other Armed Virus carriers, they are perfectly aware of what is happening and are able to communicate with their wielder while in weapon form.
* EvolvingWeapon: The weapons they wield can change up to four times, enabling new attacks and combos.
* FusionDance: Connect Mode enables the Liberator and the Extar to actually fuse into a single being SuperMode that is impervious to damage as long you have Synchro stocks available.
* ImpossiblyCoolWeapon: Their weapons evolve with each level of Drive, being especially apparent in Final Drive.
* LuminescentBlush: Their basic response to being touched in the Dressing Room.
* MorphWeapon: Each girl is able to take up four different versions of a given weapon. This extends to Mamori as well.
* MostCommonSuperpower: All of them are pretty well endowed.
* NoDressCode: Played straight plot-wise. While the students you face regularly through the game wear proper uniforms, all the girls in the VR-Class dress as they want. Even the Kagurazakas and Koharu wear heavily customized school uniforms.
* OneWomanArmy: The girls begin the game able to take on dozens of enemies at once and it only grows from there.
* ThemeMusicPowerUp: Activating Drive will override the stage's music with that particular character's leitmotif.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Just like in ''Anime/ValkyrieDriveMermaid'', they are able to transform at will into weapons, helped along by them being aroused.

[[folder:Rinka Kagurazaka]]
--> Voiced by Creator/AyaSuzaki (Japanese), Rachel O'Karen (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rinka.jpg]]

The elder Kagurazaka sister. An easygoing optimist, but her simple-minded nature worries her sister Ranka at times. Rinka's elegant variation on Japanese Swordsmanship leaves behind in the air a pleasant scent.
----

* AllLovingHero: Rinka's gentle and kind personality leads her to think of everyone on the island as her friends. Even when they are downright aggressive towards her like Momo or Viola.
* {{BFS}}: The swords she wields are larger than her.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: Has this kind of relationship with Momo. It's thanks to Rinka's genuinely patient and caring attitude that the angsty and brooding Momo warms up to her.
* CharacterDevelopment: She begins the game as a good-natured if somewhat airheaded girl that sees the world in pretty simplistic terms. But by the time the story ends, she comes to realize the world is not as simple as she initially thought and that sometimes conflict is necessary to help everyone.
* CloudCuckoolander: Tends to get lost in her own world, unable to realize not everyone wants the same things as her.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Purple eyes and purple hair.
* TheDeterminator: When her mind is set on something, she will never back off, ''ever''. Most clearly shown on the Chaos Route where even [[spoiler:''Ranka'' tries to stop her from defeating all the Pillar Gods. Even when she's defeated again and again and ''again'' by her little sister she refuses to give up]]
--> ''Ranka'': It's not fair, Sis... You'll keep going until you win? There's no way for me to beat you then!
* FlowerMotifs: Cherry Blossoms. She'll have some blow past her whenever she enters a stage, activating her Drive will surround Ranka with them and during Final Drive, her sword will spread petals with each swing.
* GuestFighter: She and Ranka are DLC for ''[[VideoGame/SenranKagura Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash]]''.
* HeroesPreferSwords: Main character? Check. Sword as default weapon? Check.
* HeroicRROD: [[spoiler: Momo and Rinka's fight against Professor Gouzanze ends in a victory, but Rinka passes out and collapses due to channeling the Virus' power to an unhealthy degree]]. She's swiftly hospitalized, causing her to be unavailable in both the Dining Room and missions for a while.
* IaijutsuPractitioner: Her signature attack has her doing a single quick draw slash that multiplies as soon she sheathes her Katana.
* IconicItem: She's never seen without her Blue hairpin. ''Bhikkhunism'' even shows her wearing it while ''bathing''.
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Despite being infected with a potentially lethal disease, being separated from her family and loved ones for an undefined period of time, and having her trust betrayed again and again; she never loses her idealism and hopes for a better, brighter future for everyone.
* KatanasAreBetter: Played with. Her default weapon is a katana, but after Driving it turns into a {{BFS}} somewhat reminiscent of a Zweihänder and then turning into a [[LaserBlade katana made of light]] as its true form.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZT69HL-Ucw GLEAM]]
* LimitBreak:
** BladeSpam: On her first Drive Break she charges forward in a barrage of slashes.
** SwordBeam: For her Second Drive Break Rinka releases three of these in quick succession.
** TornadoMove: Her Ultimate Drive Break has her gather all of her power and releasing it in the form of a tornado of Pink energy.
* MagneticHero: She is the glue holding together the entire VR-Class, and without her, none of the Carriers would form friendships or even talk to each other outside of battles. Taken to the extremes on the Order Route where even [[spoiler:the Pillar Gods decide to trust her with the safety of every Valkyrie on the island.]]
** She's so much this that ''Viola'' can't put up her usual AlphaBitch attitude while talking to Rinka.
* MundaneUtility: Seen using her Katana to play ''[[SmashingWatermelons Suikawari]]'' in one scene. Much to [[OhCrap Manpukumaru's distress.]]
* NaiveNewcomer: During the opening of the game, she has absolutely no idea what she and her sister have to do or where their permits need to be turned in. She's confident they will find all the help they need simply by asking random strangers about it. [[TheCuckoolanderWasRight She was right]].
* NoSenseOfDirection: So prone to getting lost (along with her sister) that she and Ranka earned the nickname of "The Stray Sisters", with the trait seemingly running in their family.
* ObliviousToLove: She's completely unaware of the strong and obvious feelings that Ranka and Momo harbor for her.
* OfficialCouple: With Ranka. Although Rinka is able to pair up with any girl on the island, she can only reach her true potential with Ranka.
* OneHandedZweihander: She wields her weapon one-handed, even as it gets larger with its evolutions.
* PinkIsFeminine: Is associated with the color pink and is by far the most feminine member of the cast.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: Her legs are fully covered by a pair of dark stockings, serving as a contrast to Ranka's ZettaiRyouiki.
* RedOniBlueOni: She doesn't share this with her sister, oddly enough, but with Momo. She's the Red Oni to Momo's Blue Oni. Whereas Momo is introverted and shy, Rinka is outgoing, expressive, and defiant.
* SailorFuku: Her default outfit is a pretty straightforward example of this.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Almost to the point of IdenticalTwins with Ranka. Somewhat justified since early on in the game's development they actually were twins.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Averted, as she is told quite early on in her quest to release Bhikkhuni about what the consequences are and what they'll bring to everyone on the island.
* WideEyedIdealist: She has an extremely hard time understanding why some of her classmates would rather stay at Bhikkhuni than going back to their families.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ranka Kagurazaka]]
--> Voiced by Creator/KanaeIto (Japanese), Creator/KasiHollowell (English)
[[quoteright:336:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ranka.jpg]]

The younger Kagurazaka sister. A hotblooded tomboy with a will like tempered steel. Specializes in hand to hand combat, particularly with her bare fists. Extremely possessive of her sister.
----
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Is a martial artist that's very fond of taunting her opponents during combat.
* BerserkButton: Insulting or harming her sister. In the Drama CD, she nearly goes into a RoaringRampageOfRevenge after hearing Viola spread lies about her sister in the former's radio show.
* BigSisterInstinct: Sees herself as Rinka's protector, despite being the younger of the two. ''Bhikhkunism'' reveals she took the role upon herself due to Rinka being real clumsy and quick to cry when they were younger.
* BookDumb: Very much so. In the tie-in ''Bhikkhunism'' manga, she was forced to take a make-up exam because of how low her score was. In the game itself, Ranka can't keep up with a lot of the topics being taught in class.
* BrotherSisterIncest: Same-sex example. Ranka really, ''really'' loves her sister. It comes to a point where she has already planned out their entire wedding and honeymoon, and she only needs to find a country where two sisters can get married. In an unusual move for the trope, they are actual, blood-related siblings.
* BrutalHonesty: Tends to be very blunt when speaking. Due to this she occasionally veers into InnocentlyInsensitive.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Ranka remains at her sister's side at all times and is quick to jump on her defense at the smallest hint of trouble. She's also very hostile to the mere suggestion of someone else partnering with Rinka.
* ChargedAttack: Most of her strong attacks can be charged to increase their damage output. In some cases, the fully charged attacks receive additional properties like causing pursuit state on enemies hit by it.
** Her signature move works like this as well. By holding the heavy attack button, Ranka releases a wave of fire that travels on the ground. The longer triangle holds, the farther the wave travels.
* CovertPervert: Despite her fixation on her sister, Ranka is very interested in the bodies of her classmates. She goes as far as to fantasize about being abused by Momo after hearing her sleep talking and shamelessly asking the blonde Viola if her carpet matches the drapes (Ranka freely admits she'd look for herself in the baths, but Viola's terrible singing stops her in this case).
* CuteBruiser: She is the most physical character of the cast.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Purple eyes and Purple hair.
* DeathGlare: Fond of using this towards people talking down her sister.
* ExtremityExtremist: Punches are the entire basis of her combat style.
* GreenEyedMonster: She doesn't take kindly to having to share her sister's attention with someone else.
* GuestFighter: She and Ranka are DLC for ''[[VideoGame/SenranKagura Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash]]''
* HatesBeingAlone: The mere thought of being separated from Rinka utterly terrifies her. [[spoiler:This trope is the whole reason for their conflict in the Chaos Route. Rinka wants to leave the island and return to her parents while Ranka would rather remain on Bhikkhuni.]]
* HotBlooded: She rarely thinks things through and is quick to jump into combat at the slightest opportunity.
* IconicItem: Just like her sister, she's never seen without her Red Hairpin.
* LastNameBasis: Unless the person she's speaking to lacks one or is her sister, she will never use their first name.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82RX_rNEcpw FAITH]]
* LightningBruiser: Packs quite a punch and is one of the fastest characters in the VR-Class.
* LimitBreak:
** HandBlast: Her First Drive Break has her launching a huge fireball from her fist.
** RapidFireFisticuffs: Used on her Second Drive Break.
** ColonyDrop: Turns ''herself'' into a meteor to rain destruction on her enemies in her Ultimate Drive Break.
* NoseBleed: She suffers one during her special scene with Momo if their romance level is high enough, courtesy of Momo's TalkingInYourSleep shenanigans.
* NoSenseOfDirection: She and her sister are so prone to get lost that they earned the nickname of "The Stray Sisters", with it seemingly running in their family.
* OfficialCouple: With Rinka. Although Ranka is able to pair up with any girl on the island, she can only reach her true potential with Rinka.
* PowerFist: Her Extars take the form of huge, spiked gauntlets and her entire combat style is based around punching.
* PlayingWithFire: Fitting her hot-blooded personality, her elemental affinity is Fire.
* ParentalAbandonment: Unlike Rinka, she's convinced their parents wanted to get rid of them after being diagnosed with the Armed Virus, with her suspecting that they even got paid for sending their daughters to the island.
* ParentalBetrayal: How she perceives the fact their parents willingly sent the both of them to Bhikkhuni.
* RapidFireFisticuffs: One of her combos has her unleash these on her foes.
* SailorFuku: Just like her sister, she wears one of these. Although her uniform is noticeably riskier than Rinka's.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Almost to the point of IdenticalTwins with Rinka. Somewhat justified since early on in the game's development they actually were twins.
* TomboyishPonytail: Styles her hair like this.
* WhyDidYouMakeMeHitYou: She slips into this on [[spoiler: the Chaos Route where she's convinced Rinka won't listen to reason, she resorts to combat to convince her to stay on the island with her.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Momo Kuzuryu]]
--> Voiced by Creator/YokoHikasa
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuzuryu_momo.jpg]]

The silent type. An amnesiac. She fights to recover her past, though even she doesn't know why. Her passion for knowledge is as intense as her passion for battle. Despite this, her aloof nature is cute in its own way.
----
* BloodKnight: Before her character development hits, fighting strong people is the only thing on her mind. It also relieves her migraines from trying to remember her past.
* BookDumb: While her performance on physical activities is outstanding, her grasp on basic school subjects like History leaves a lot to be desired. She's bad enough that one of her romance conversations with Koharu has Momo being tutored by her.
* BlowYouAway: She's able to create tornadoes with her spear.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: Has this kind of relationship with Rinka. It's thanks to Rinka's genuinely patient and caring attitude that the angsty and brooding Momo warms up to her.
* BrutalHonesty: She doesn't mince words at the moment of expressing her opinion.
* CharacterDevelopment: Goes from a girl obsessed with becoming stronger and dismissing any sort of bond with people to learning about the PowerOfFriendship and becoming TrueCompanions with the Kagurazakas and Manpukumaru.
* ChildSoldier: Momo's social ineptitude stems from a childhood fighting in wars. ''Bhikkhunism'' reveals that [[spoiler:she was a member of the SOLDIER program just like [[Anime/ValkyrieDriveMermaid Mirei]]]].
* CovertPervert: She sneaks up on fellow students so she can "test" their physical condition, i.e. grope them. She's usually one of the first girls to protest when things get risque, but also one of the more enthusiastic.
* DefrostingIceQueen: She slowly warms up to the Kagurazakas and Manpukumaru over the course of the story.
* EasilyForgiven: Only on the Order Route where [[spoiler:Mana forgives the horrible treatment she got from Momo at the start of the game soon as Momo offers her an apology.]]
* FragileSpeedster: The fastest character on the cast in all regards, but with below-average endurance.
* FlashStep: Her signature move enables her to appear behind any targeted enemy to strike them with a launcher attack regardless of how far away she is from the target.
* FriendlessBackground: Part of her reticence to form bonds with the rest of the VR-Class comes from her lack of friendships growing up.
* HoldTheLine: Pulls one alongside Mana on the Order Route, where they face [[spoiler: Gouzanze and Kongo in a bid to give the Kagurazakas enough time to dismantle the Island's systems.]]
* IllKillYou: During the first third of the game, this is pretty much all that she says to people that even slightly annoy her. The other students start to make fun of it, and it gets lampshaded in ''Bhikkhunism'' where Ranka calls her out on it.
* LastNameBasis: Fitting her cold and hostile attitude, she only uses the other girls' last names to talk with them.
** She does warm up enough to the Kagurazakas and Manpukumaru to start calling them by their first name over the course of the game.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZs7tz8-7Kw ORBIT]]
* LimitBreak:
** BladeSpam: Rushes all over the stage piercing everything with her spear during her Level 1 Drive Break.
** SpinAttack: Her Level 2 Drive Break has her unleash this on her foes.
** TornadoMove: For her Ultimate Drive Break she moves in circles around her enemies, trapping them in the eye of a hurricane of her making, before coming down and unleashing several mini-tornadoes all over the arena.
* LuminescentBlush: Lets out an absolutely adorable one during Drive 7-A when Rinka says that she lucked out by being partnered up with her.
* NoSocialSkills: She has no idea about how to behave among people. It's only through Rinka's stubbornness that she becomes able to function in society.
* TheQuietOne: Tends to be the most reserved of the cast, only talking when is necessary.
* QuestForIdentity: Whoever sent her to Bhikkhuni sealed away her memories and during the first half of the game, the search for her missing memories is her focus. However, she stops worrying about them once she becomes attached to the Kagurazakas, deciding it's more important to make new memories instead.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Rinka's red.
* RollerbladeGood: Uses a pair of skates as her main means of locomotion. If the outfit she's wearing doesn't include her skates, her shoes glow and continue to sound like rollerblades.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: One of the best warriors on the VR-Class and she's never seen without her signature scarf.
* SkinshipGrope: Fond of popping out of nowhere to grope Ranka and Rinka. She gets quietly annoyed that she can't do it to Koharu and Viola too, since they're too aware of their surroundings for her to get close enough.
* SpectacularSpinning: Momo ''loves'' to spin her spear around during her combos. It gets lampshaded by Manpakumaru after their first fight together, as she complains that she got nauseous from all the spinning.
* StealthHiBye: She's usually too impatient to bother with hellos and goodbyes, prone to sneaking up on people she's forced to interact with, and disappearing when she gets tired of speaking with the others. Even when she's warmed up to her classmates, Momo keeps up this habit.
* TalkingInYourSleep: Momo talks while she's sleeping (in class too, no less). During a special scene when Ranka's romance level with her is high enough, Momo will talk about how good "Kagurazaka's" breasts feel and how [[DoubleEntendre she'd like to stab the "Kagurazaka" with her lance]] and then motorboat her. Ranka's surprised reactions get her in trouble, and she gets back at Momo by waking her up by throwing a piece of an eraser at her. Momo then reveals that the Kagurazaka she was dreaming about was Ranka herself. Ranka gets a NoseBleed when Momo reveals this fact.
* TeethClenchedTeamWork: At the beginning of the game, she has to be forced and threatened with expulsion to work together with the other girls. She gets better as the story progresses though.
* {{Tsundere}}: Flip flops between the two types according to whom she's interacting: Dere for the Kagurazakas and Manpukumaru, Tsun for everyone else.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Momo spends a lot of time bickering and teasing Ranka but when push comes to shove, she will put her life on the line for her.
* WhenSheSmiles: It's a rare sight but when she does as seen in Drive 12-C, it's absolutely adorable.
* WindIsGreen: The Tornadoes she creates are green.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: She looks like someone in their late teens to maybe early 20s, especially with her stoic demeanor. She's actually ''14 years old''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Mana Inagawa]]
---> Voiced by Creator/YumiHara
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/inagawa_mana.jpg]]

A pacifist with an air of kind serenity. Her unique skills can turn a strand of her hair into a dangerous, all piercing arrow. But her strongest weapon is the smile she brings to the face of friend and foe alike with her cheerful disposition.
----

* AbnormalAmmo: Mana uses strands her own hair as ammo for her bow.
* AlphaBitch: Develops this personality trait after spending some time as Viola's partner and picking up some of her senior's mannerisms.
* AmbitionIsEvil: Mana's desire to become someone important on the island quickly turns her [[spoiler:into the closest thing the game has to a villain]].
* AttentionWhore: Most of her actions stem from her almost pathological need of being noticed by everyone else.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Only during the latter half of the game, before that, she's a genuinely sweet girl.
* BreakTheCutie: Mana begins the game as a genuinely (if somewhat ambitious) NiceGirl that is trying her best to bond with her new classmates and generally fit in among the island population. However, her designated partner has absolutely zero interest in cooperating with her and considers Mana a waste of skin, and the few friends she makes fail to properly support her when she most needs them. With the ever-present threat of being deported from the island and its promised treatment of the Armed Virus if she fails to meet the school's standards, Mana quickly becomes ruthless and selfish, quick to throw everyone under the bus to further her own goals.
* BreakTheHaughty: Only during the Chaos route, where Koharu utterly shatters her dreams by revealing [[spoiler: she was nothing more than a puppet for Gundari and that she would never get the position she so desperately craves]].
* BottomlessMagazines: Mana uses strands of her hair as arrows, giving her unlimited ammo.
* ChargedAttack: Just like Ranka, her finishers can be charged by holding the respective button down. Unlike Ranka, doing this increases the number of arrows shoot and their accuracy.
** Her signature attack also works like this.
* ChronicBackStabbingDisorder: While she initially appears to be a loyal friend, Mana's only loyal to herself and will align to whoever offers the best outcome for her.
* EnergyBow: Since Mana's bow is a fellow Armed Virus carrier, she forgoes the need of having string and arrows to use it.
* {{Escapism}}: She slips into this after being appointed Deputy Head by the Director. Using her role as justification, she turns a blind eye to all the questionable actions she takes against her classmates.
* EvilLaugh: Boasts a pretty notable one.
-->''The Director:'' Still not looking very serene. If anything she looks downright villainous now.
* FairWeatherFriend: After she breaks away from her partnership with Momo, Mana will gleefully sing her current partner's praises while they're winning and clearly dominant, along with directing smug self-aggrandizement at the losers. The second she and her partner lose, it's suddenly all ''their'' fault for the defeat, and she'll start casting around for someone stronger and brown-nosing her preferred choice.
* HeelRealization: Has one on the Order Route, where [[spoiler: she realizes how much of a bitch she has been and decides to follow Rinka's lead.]]
* HoldTheLine: She and Momo pull this on the Order Route, where they face [[spoiler: Gouzanze and Kongo in a bid to give the Kagurazakas enough time to dismantle the Island's systems.]]
* HomingProjectile: Her arrows will chase the nearest/targeted enemy automatically.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Mana's actions throughout the whole game revolve around giving her validation as being different, unique, and valued by her peers.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Mana's able to accurately shoot her arrows while ''upside down doing cartwheels''.
* InelegantBlubbering: After Viola and Koharu defeats her in the Chaos route, she's reduced to this because everything she's done has been all for nothing. Viola has no idea how to react to this and tries to comfort Mana rather awkwardly. Koharu tries to do the same before sighing in defeat.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gK2JlL6eog0 HONOR]].
* LimitBreak:
** Shoots a huge arrow during her first Drive Break.
** SpinAttack: Spins wildly shooting arrows everywhere as part of her second Drive Break.
** RainOfArrows: Unleash a massive one over her foes during her Ultimate Drive Break.
* MagicHair: Somehow she's able to turn the strands of her hair into arrows.
* MagikarpPower: Starting right out of the gate, Mana is pretty weak with her arrows doing very low damage, not helped by her combos being the shortest among the girls. However, once she reaches higher levels of Drive, preferably Third or Fourth Drive, her arrows' damage skyrockets to the point that she can shred through even the armor and weak points of the [[GiantMecha Four Pillar Gods]].
* [[ManipulativeBastard Manipulative Bitch]]: She shows signs of being a schemer in the first half of the game, but it really starts to shine later in the game.
* {{Multishot}}: At high Drive levels, she's able to shot multiple arrows at once that will home in on targeted enemies.
* NeverMyFault: After she becomes Viola's partner, she's very quick to blame failure on everything but her, even though the Valkyrie Drive relies on the efforts of both partners. Excuses fly fast and freely after she's defeated, something that gets rebuked by anyone who hears them.
* RainOfArrows: Her specialty move creates one of this when fully charged.
* SideBoob: Her outfit grants her a pretty impressive one.
* TookALevelInJerkass: She begins the game as a genuinely NiceGirl. Midway through the first half, frustrated by Momo's constant disrespect and carelessness regarding their partnership, she starts to get ambitious and wants to climb the ranks by any means necessary. That includes leaving Momo, who she had been trying and failing to bond with, in the dust. As she continues to hang with Viola, she becomes more and more condescending and manipulative, [[spoiler: seeing nothing wrong with tricking Manpukumaru into deliberately throwing a fight with the promise of food.]]
* WomanScorned: Takes Momo's constant rejection very hard, becoming particularly vicious towards her any time they meet during the story. Until the Order Route where Mana [[spoiler: HeelFaceTurn is triggered by Momo offering her a sincere apology for the way she acted at the beginning of the game]]
* TheWoobie: Mana bounce between this and JerkassWoobie through the entire game: she's a classical woobie during the first half of the game, goes straight into Jerkass Woobie territory after the middle point of the game, and firmly remains there until the end.
* WorkingForABodyUpgrade: In the latter half of the game, Mana is motivated to become more treacherous and ruthless due to [[spoiler: Gundari's promise that if she complied with the needs of Bhikkuni, Mana would become the fifth Pillar God Kirin, instead of being one of the dormant Valkyries powering it]].

Manpukumaru simply loves food. Though her perpetually cheerful attitude makes her seem harmless, don't be fooled: in her eyes, the difference between friend and foe is a simple as who has more food to offer. Perhaps a full stomach is her only ally.
----
* AssKicksYou: Plenty of her attacks involve her butt as a weapon.
* BadassAdorable: The most pure-hearted character in the roster and also the strongest.
* BigEater: The girl has a pretty impressive stomach, and she regularly eats enough food for an entire class on her own.
-->'''''Manpukumaru:''' Hmmm~~ It's though trying to eat things that I can't put in my mouth.''\
'''''Ranka:''' You mean Things that are too big to fit?''\
'''''Manpukumaru:''' For those, I can just dislocate my jaw and swallow them whole.''
* ChargedAttack: Nearly all of her attacks can be charged, and in fact, her combat style revolves around it.
* CloudCuckoolander: Her thought process is pretty bizarre, no one can tell for sure what is what she's thinking at a given moment. She will also try to eat anything if someone puts it on a dish, including a ''steel plate'' (she had to go to the dentist afterward).
* CuteClumsyGirl: Is shown tripping over during ''her intro'', and this extends to her fighting style as well.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: The Order route reveals [[spoiler: that before arriving at Bhikkhuni she was held prisoner in another island where she would be forced to fight nonstop against other Valkyries every day. Food was [[FreudianExcuse the only thing]] that gave her solace during that time.]]
* DifficultButAwesome: Her attacks have a lot of recovery frames and coupled with her slow speed make a challenge to use her effectively in combat. However, after mastering dodge canceling you can use her monstrous strength to demolish your foes in a matter of seconds.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Her Irises are lime green and star-shaped.
* FoodAsBribe: As long you feed her, Manpukumaru will gladly help you with anything you ask of her. This is exploited by various people throughout the story, and she feels genuinely guilty for immediately falling for this when she sells out Momo for five helpings of a high-quality meal... and then she continues to take bribes regardless.
* GeniusDitz: She can come up with surprisingly clever plans - like fooling ''Viola'' into being bait - using the prospect of getting more food as motivation.
* GenkiGirl: Despite being beaten up again and again during the story, she never loses her cheery disposition.
* HealThyself: In a pretty interesting deviation from her classmates, using Manpukumaru's signature attack leads her to immediately sit down and gorge herself with meat buns to recover a small amount of health. However, the animation can't be canceled nor interrupted, making her an easy target while it is being used; you can mash triangle to accelerate the process a little though.
* HiddenDepths: She's surprisingly insightful for someone whose only care in the world is to have a full belly, able to remain calm at all times, and to plan some pretty elaborate schemes to further her goals.
* HugeSchoolgirl: Her height is a little above 5.7 feet, and she towers over every other character as a result.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJN15HpvFNU DIZZY]]
* LimitBreak:
** SpinAttack: She sends her cleavers spinning, trapping every enemy unlucky enough to stand on their path.
** SpinAttack: After reducing her own gravity, she throws herself spinning against her foes in such a way that would make [[Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog Sonic]] proud.
** DeathFromAbove: Rains devastation over her enemies using rocks in form of ''ice cream cone meteors''.
* MacheteMayhem: Manpukumaru's weapons of choice are a pair of giant meat cleavers.
* MeaningfulAppearance: She wears a generally food-themed outfit, with a cute set of hair accessories in the form of sunnyside eggs, lettuce, and one apple on her head, which she calls "The Breakfast set". Luckily, they are mere ornaments and not the real thing. Although not due to lack of trying, since she did actually try to wear food as accessories at one point.
-->''Manpukumaru'': I tried doing a bunch of different things, but they all failed. Things would wilt, leak out some weird juices and the bugs... Oh man, ''the bugs''...
* MsFanservice: Yes, even in this game she stands out as one. She's got the skimpiest costume (even compared to Viola), her chest is enormous [[WorldOfBuxom even by Takaki standards]], her intro and supers are packed with MaleGaze, and in a game where pretty much every girl is already a walking PantyShot, hers are so excessive they ''still'' stand out.
* TheNicknamer: Seems that as proof of her friendship, she likes to give cute nicknames to her friends. This, of course, means Mana isn't included. in a bit of BilingualBonus, Momo, and Koharu's nicknames are merely the English translations of their first name and last name, respectively. She also does this with her teachers, but in that's because she can't remember their proper names.
** Rinka: Rin
** Ranka: Ran
** Momo: Peach
** Viola: Vio
** Koharu: Shadow Moon
* NinjaMaid: As ''Bhikkunism'' reveals, she worked for Viola as one prior to the events of the game, that is why her default outfit is a maid outfit and why Viola's reasonably friendly with her.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: There's not a single spiteful bone on this girl's body. This makes the absolute distaste she shows for Mana pretty jarring. Not that she is without reason though.
* PrivateMilitaryContractors: An admittingly low-stakes one by the time the story starts, as she offers her services either as Extar or Liberator to any girl on the island for the right price (usually a meal or lots of food). She's also Echigoya's personal bodyguard/enforcer.
* StatuesqueStunner: Given she's the tallest character in the cast (beating Viola by two centimeters) her character model positively dwarfs everyone else in cutscenes.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Refers to herself by her name. And almost always by her [[FullNameBasis full name.]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: While it seems practically anything edible is her favorite, apples stand out for her. She likes them so much that her weapons are decorated with apple motifs.
* TheUnfettered: She will do ''anything'' as long it ensures her a good meal. She absolutely doesn't care for anything but having a reliable source of good food, which is why she wants to stay on Bhikkuni forever, dismissing Rinka's concerns about the island's secrets solely because it's not worth thinking about.
* UnskilledButStrong: Exaggerated. What her attacks lack in finesse, they more than make up for it on raw power. Every single attack of hers is incredibly clumsy, as she throws her entire body into swings and often end with her just barely managing to not fall over; they're also the most devastating attacks in the game, even before she charges them up or activates her Drive.
* VerbalTic: Ends all of her sentences with "Na No Da" (''なのだ'')
* [[ManChild Woman Child]]: She's pretty childish for a girl presumably in her late teens.
* WorfEffect: Despite being introduced as one of the top three combatants on the island, she tends to lose all the fights in which she's involved, either as Liberator or Extar.

[[folder: Viola]]
--->Voiced by Creator/YuuKobayashi
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/viola_1.jpg]]

The "queen" of the fifth graduating class, an arrogant girl with a love for gaudy clothing. She brings all Valkyries to their knees with her stylish sword and gun style. For male enemies, she doesn't even need to do anything as they all prostrate themselves before her beauty. Despite her aloof appearance, she is always enveloped in a sweet scent.
----
* AlphaBitch: Viola is by far the most abrasive and unpleasant character in the cast at the beginning of the game but she mellows pretty fast once she finally becomes Koharu's partner.
* ArtisticLicenseGunSafety: Given her previous experiences in [[ChildSoldier combat]], she should be knowledgeable of basic gun safety but the way she uses her handgun is reckless, to say the least. The most damming aspect is the fact she stashes her loaded gun ''inside her cleavage'' when is not in use.
* BelligerentSexualTension: Has a pretty blatant one with Koharu during the first half of the game.
* BottomlessMagazines: She's never in the need of reloading or recharging her gun, particularly egregious during her level one Limit Break ''Dizzy Bullet'' where she fires hundreds of shots in rapid succession while spinning.
* ChildSoldier: Unlike Momo, it's never properly elaborated upon but is mentioned multiple times throughout the story that she has been in the middle of real combat, and she knows all too well what is awaiting the Valkyries if [[spoiler: AAA ever get their hands on them.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast: During one special scene with Momo if their [[RelationshipValues relationship]] is at a high enough level, she replies to Momo's statement about her being always relaxed that even Viola herself "[has] things [that she] can't forget" as much as she wants to.
* DefrostingIceQueen: She starts out cold and callous to absolutely everyone that's not an Elite member of Bhikkhuni. She later mellows out, even having playful interactions with the Kagurazaka sisters as well as helping out Momo with her issues of not remembering her past.
* DreadfulMusician: She is a ''horrible'' singer as revealed in her second special scene with Ranka. PlayedForLaughs in that she considers her singing her "strong point" while Ranka thinks otherwise. It's also revealed that Viola has also asked Koharu to form a duet with her but Koharu refused without hesitating. She then tries to convince Ranka to form a duet with her.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: Her crush on Koharu is evident to everyone. Except for [[ObliviousToLove Koharu]] herself of course.
* IconicItem: Her signature butterfly pin.
* IHaveBoobsYouMustObey: Proclaimed herself as the Queen of the fifth graduating class based only on her attractiveness.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: It's a miracle she doesn't have constant [[WardrobeMalfunction malfunctions]] with how low the neckline of her kimono is.
** Amusingly, she receives special versions of everyone's else costumes named "risque versions" that have been modified to show this.
* KimonoFanservice: Her custom-made kimono is designed with the explicit purpose of showing off her figure, and because she couldn't find one that could fit her properly.
* LargeHam: As is the trend of characters voiced by Creator/YuuKobayashi.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2cxItKoJh SCENT]]
* LimitBreak:
** SpinAttack: Spins wildly while shooting her gun with abandon as her level one Drive Break.
** BladeSpam: Rushes forward in a flurry of slashes during her second-level Drive Break.
** ChainLightning: Calls down a massive thunderbolt that spreads upon contact with the floor, harming any enemy unlucky enough to be standing there as her Ultimate Drive Break.
* MirrorCharacter: With Momo. During a special scene between them, Viola is able to help Momo out with one of her amnesia-induced headaches by telling her that she shouldn't let herself be caught up in the past and to focus on the future instead. Makes sense, considering Viola herself is a former ChildSoldier like Momo.
* NoblewomansLaugh: Indulges in this during her Ultimate Limit Break.
* NoSocialSkills: As mentioned before, she has a hard time expressing herself properly with people that are not named Koharu. She reacts to being merely ''asked for directions'' by the Kagurazaka sisters with scathing disdain.
* OccidentalOtaku: Show shades of this given the fact she looks like a stereotypical foreigner and has an obvious fixation on Japanese culture, going so far as to custom-tailor all of her kimonos.
* OfficialCouple: Becomes one with Koharu through the game. By the time the story is finished, they have moved in together.
* OnlyOneName: Unlike her classmates, Viola lacks a last name.
* RichBitch: Viola can easily afford to live on the Elite's district due to her combat prowess and has the ego and attitude to match.
** ''Bhikkhunism'' goes so far as to show she owns an entire building.
* SkinshipGrope: Engages in this with ''Rinka'' of all people during their second special scene with each other.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Viola has an almost pathological fixation on Koharu and consequently dismisses everyone else.
* ShockAndAwe: Her elemental affinity is lighting.
* SmittenTeenageGirl: Viola has it ''bad'' for Koharu. At the beginning of the game, her only goal was to be acknowledged by Koharu and becoming her partner. Once she finally achieves this, Viola is content with blindly following Koharu everywhere as a love-stricken puppy.
* StalkerWithACrush: Has an encyclopedic knowledge of Koharu's customs that allows her to accurately predict where Koharu will be at a given time.
* SwordAndGun: Wields a one-handed sword and handgun combo as her signature weapon.
* TheTease: Her dialogue and mannerisms are filled with innuendo.
* {{Tsundere}}: A shining example of the trope. Her flippant attitude, massive ego, and general dismissal of everyone else are just her clumsy attempts to get Koharu's attention. ''Bhikkhunism'' goes so far as to show that she has ''zero'' interest in taking a class if Koharu isn't there.
** She's also one for Rinka. In Chaos 17-B, this conversation occurs:
--->''Mana'': Oh, Viola. By any chance, did you help Rinka out because you were thinking of her safety in the end?\
''Rinka'': Huh?\
''Viola'': ([[LuminescentBlush blushing]]) N-no! I just wanted to smash [[spoiler:Rinka's]] sugarcoated ideals, that's all! I just wanted to destroy that delusion of yours that you had any chance of beating [[spoiler:the Four Pillar Gods]]!\
'''Mana:''' Fine, let's just leave it at that, I guess.\
'''Viola:''' (blushing) Oh shut up! I'm leaving!
* VocalDissonance: Has a noticeably deep voice for an 18-year-old.
* WhipSword: Upgrades to one of these while in Final Drive.

Head of the fifth graduating class, Koharu thinks clearly and decisively. Her strong convictions have tempered a flawless fighting style. Wise beyond her years, her experienced eyes is like looking into a mirror that sees straight through you and knows all.
----
* TheAce: Koharu is able to excel at anything she does, sometimes without needing to make a serious effort (much to Ranka's chagrin).
* BlueOniRedOni: The literal blue to Rinka's Red.
* TheComicallySerious: Koharu is seemingly unable to take things lightly, leading to some pretty amusing interactions with the rest of the cast ([[CloudCuckoolander Manpukumaru]] in particular).
* DragonAscendant: Only in the Order Route [[spoiler: where Koharu is the final boss, taking on herself the task of defeating Rinka after Gundari's defeat]].
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Her Romance novels with Mana reveal that she utterly loathes green peas.
* FinalBoss: [[spoiler:She is the final opponent Rinka fights at the end of the Order route.]]
* {{Foil}}: Serves as one for Rinka. Whereas Rinka is the naive and idealist newcomer, Koharu is the experienced and pragmatic veteran. This extends to gameplay as well, with Koharu's moveset being a more efficient take on Rinka's basic techniques.
* IconicItem: The white hairband she always wears.
* IaijutsuPractitioner: Koharu is somehow able to pull the multiple slashes variant of this trope as her signature attack.
* LadyOfWar: Quiet, dignified, and with a combat style that favors efficiency over flashiness.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrfg9irTWW4 PROVE]]
* LightEmUp: Once she enters Final Drive, Koharu's power manifests in the form of energy blades, wings made of solid light, and Energy Bolts.
* LimitBreak:
** BladeSpam: On her first Drive Break she charges forward in a barrage of slashes.
** SwordBeam: Releases three of these in quick succession as her second-level Drive Break.
** TornadoMove: Her Ultimate Drive Break has her gather all of her power and releasing it in the form of a tornado of Blue energy.
* NoJustNoReaction: During the second special scene between Viola and Ranka, this was pretty much her reaction when Viola asked her to form a duet with her along with rejecting the offer.
-->'''Viola:''' [Koharu] made an oddly stern face and told me to never speak of it again.
* NumberTwo: As the head student, Koharu is directly under the Director's orders and has the authority to act on her behalf.
** The Chaos Route reveals that [[spoiler:Gundari has been grooming Koharu to take over her role as the island's administrator and the leader of the Pillar Gods.]]
* ObliviousToLove: She fails to notice Viola's blatant infatuation with her. [[spoiler:Until they become official partners that is]]
* OfficialCouple: Forms one with Viola midways through the plot.
* PowerGivesYouWings: She grows wings made of blue light on some of her combos while in Final Drive.
* RoyalRapier: Her weapon of choice.
* StudentCouncilPresident: Even though there is no Student Council on Bhikkhuni, Koharu effectively fits this role as the Head Student of the entire Fifth Graduating Class.
* SilkHidingSteel: Don't let her demure and proper attitude fool you, she's the best combatant in Bhikkhuni.
* SliceAndDiceSwordsmanship: What the bulk of Koharu's attacks consist of.
* TheTease: After [[spoiler:officially becoming partners with Viola]], Koharu surprisingly has shades of this despite her usual role as TheComicallySerious.
-->''Koharu'': [[spoiler:Viola]] may not seem the type, but she puts in a lot of effort when nobody's looking. I really love that about her.\
[[spoiler:''Viola'':]] [[{{Tsundere}} L-love!? What are you... in front of people...]]\
''Koharu'': (with a smug look on her face) Are you saying there isn't a thing you love about me, [[spoiler:Viola]]?\
[[spoiler:''Viola'':]] [[BigWhat Eeeh!?]] O-of course I... L-love you...
* WellIntentionedExtremist: There's ''nothing'' Koharu won't do to ensure Bhikkhuni's safety. [[spoiler:Even if it means becoming the fifth Pillar God, Kirin, in the Order route.]]

* HeroesLoveDogs: Viola and Manpukumaru's first romance novel reveals she owns a pet dog named ''[[GeniusBonus Pavlichenko]]''
* MrExposition: Being the island's Director, she is in charge of explaining the island's rules and the nature of the program to all the newcomers.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: She is a gentle, somewhat absentminded woman always willing to help her students [[spoiler: but when Rinka and Ranka stumble upon certain classified information, she drops the kind facade and becomes a ruthless, no-nonsense woman.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Unless you try to unveil Bhikkhuni's secrets that is.
* SurveillanceAsThePlotDemands: Has an extensive surveillance system at her disposal from which she keeps tabs on everyone on the island. She's also able to create floating screens to communicate with the students regardless of their location.
* TheSlacker: Tends to delegate most of her obligations to Koharu.
* {{Troll}}: Prone to make strange decisions on a whim (like declaring swimsuit day after seeing Viola wear hers to class) for no other reason than getting a rise from the students.

[[caption-width-right:350:From Left to right: Gouzanze, Kongo, Gundari and Daiitoku]]

* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: They follow a strict hierarchy based on their combat prowess, with Kongo being the weaker of the four and Gundari the most powerful, and thus, the unquestionable leader of the team.
* AttackItsWeakPoint: The glowing green cores hidden under their armor. Destroying them not only takes a huge chunk of their health but also will stun them for a couple of seconds, leaving them completely open to your attacks. If you're skilled enough is possible to destroy the cores in sequence, stun locking them to death.
* {{Cyborg}}: An unusual example, as [[spoiler: they are VR virus patients who willingly went under ''massive'' body modifications to enhance their power and become able to sustain the Drive state indefinitely.]]
* TheFourGods: As the name suggests, they are modeled after the Four Holy Beasts: Kongo is based on Genbu and is affiliated with Earth, Gouzanze is based on Seiryu and has an ice affinity, Daiitoku is based on Byakko and has a lightning affinity, and Gundari is based on Suzaku with a fire affinity. [[spoiler: Later in the game is revealed that the entire VR-Class is being groomed by the Director to become the fifth member: Kirin. Thankfully the girls are able to stop this plan before it starts.]]
* FusionDance: [[spoiler: They are in fact the head students of their respective classes who merged with the rest of the students in a massive Drive to keep the virus from developing.]]
* HeadsIWinTailsYouLose: No matter how well the player fights them, the [=VR=] students will always lose decisively to their teachers, and the first half of the game has the students training to be even able to ''scratch'' Kongo, then repeat the same process for the other teachers. [[spoiler: Once the Kagurazaka sisters damage Gouzanze enough to make a naked girl pop out of her body]], this is swiftly averted and every fight afterwards has the student pair win their fight with a teacher if the player doesn't lose... albeit by the skin of their teeth.
* HumongousMecha: They look like giant robotic animals.
* TurnsRed: They are able to siphon energy from the Island itself, greatly increasing their power and allowing them to regenerate from any injury, effectively making them invincible. Interestingly, despite this being a plot point in the Order route, you only fight their enhanced forms (called "Power Unleashed" by the in-game bestiary) on the Challenge and Survival modes.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: All of them have red eyes (and that is in fact the way to recognize Gouzanze and Daiitoku's real eyes) and they are the biggest threat the VR-Class faces through the story.
* ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming: In addition to being based on TheFourGods, they are named after the Buddhist Wisdom Kings, who also correspond with the directions. However, the prospective fifth god is named Kirin instead of Fudo, the fifth Wisdom King.
* SuperMode: [[spoiler: All of them are in a permanent Drive state, and their armor and all of their corresponding weak points are comprised of sleeping Valkyries. Breaking the weak point stops the God's Drive with a particular Valkyrie in their body]].
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: None of the new students are concerned about their female teachers being giant attack robots, and it takes a long time for anyone to realize that yes, it's actually ''really'' strange to be taking combat lessons from a giant animal-shaped teacher.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: They will do anything to protect the academy from any threats... [[spoiler:even if those threats includes the very students they sworn to protect.]]

The first of the Four Pillar Gods introduced and teacher in charge of the beginning course. As well as the first one the main cast fights against.

----
* {{BFS}}: She uses a sword in later battles against her.
* TheBigGuy: The largest and physically most powerful of the four pillar gods.
* DishingOutDirt: Of the stone-based variety, her attacks cause huge rock pillars to raise from the soil to hit you with them. Once you've taken half of her health she becomes able to create small volcanic eruptions to throw balls of magma at you.
* TheJuggernaut: Able to cover herself with a shield of pure energy that makes her completely invulnerable to any attack.
* LarynxDissonance: Strangely, Kongo's Japanese voice actor provides a convincing (if a bit high-pitched) male voice, even though the story continually states that Kongo is a female teacher like the rest of the Pillar Gods.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Geh5NxgXRRM SHAKE]]
* MacrossMissileMassacre: One of her signature attacks is to launch a barrage of missiles that tracks you for a couple of seconds before exploding.
* MightyGlacier: Hits like a truck but is also the slowest of the Four Gods, making it relatively easy to avoid her attacks.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Her teachings about how it's a good thing to pursue power at all costs and to cultivate one's ambitions, no matter how morally questionable they are, are one of the main reasons for Mana's FaceHeelTurn.
* WakeUpCallBoss: End-of-level bosses prior to the fight against her were all against human-sized Valkyries. Kongo is the first one that can take a lot of punishment and involves a lot of chipping away at her armor in order to expose her weak points underneath.

[[folder: Gouzanze]]
--> Voiced by Asami Takeuchi
The second of the Pillar Gods the main cast meets. She's a giant green dragon in charge of the intermediate course.

* BreathWeapon: Can fire lasers from the cannon mounted inside her mouth.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: Has two sets of eyes on her head: the ones placed in its natural place and a smaller set on her forehead. [[spoiler: And of course, her real eyes are the ones on her forehead]].
* TheHeart: She's the most feminine and emotional of the Four Gods.
* AnIcePerson: One of her preferred means of attacking is throwing huge chunks of ice at the player.
* KnightOfCerebus: Not only does she incapacitate Rinka for a while after their first encounter, [[spoiler: she also releases a girl after being defeated on the second encounter, kick-starting the Kagurazakas quest for Bhikkhuni's secrets.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ko7BJVcZttg HEAVY]]
* TailSlap: That long tail of hers isn't just for show.
* UseYourHead: Fond of using herself as battering ram.
* UnskilledButStrong: Whereas Kongo made for her lack of power with actual combat techniques, Gouzanze relies more on her size to get the upper hand in combat. Ironic given she's the one in charge of developing the Valkyries' combat Techniques.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Daiitoku]]
--> Voiced by Hiromi Ra
The third of the Pillar Gods that the main cast meets. She is in charge of the advanced course and resides in Bhikkhuni's industrial district.

----
* BloodKnight: While all four of the Pillar Gods encourage battling between Valkyries, Daiitoku is the one most eager to get into a scrap and will gladly take on requests to fight against her.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: The eyes on her head are just for show, her real eyes are located inside her mouth.
* HotBlooded: Whenever she's fighting, she's very excitable to the point of her being a ScreamingWarrior.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ne1e00Jicdc WRATH]]
* LightningBruiser: She is the fastest of the Four Pillar Gods. In addition, she hits like a ton of bricks as well.
* MacrossMissileMassacre: One of her attacks is launching a ludicrous amount of missiles from the cannon mounted on her back.
* PantheraAwesome: Comes with the territory of being a Byakko {{Expy}}.
-->''Daiitoku'': And I'm not a cat, you idiot. I'm a ''goddamn Tiger.''
* ShockAndAwe: Her elemental affinity is lightning which she uses to either rain down on her targets or to coat herself with in order to prevent them from getting close.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Gundari]]
--> Voiced by Akira Kasahara
The strongest of the Four Pillar Gods as well as their de facto leader. [[spoiler:She is, in fact, the Director and the creator of Bhikkhuni's system after a failed attempt at fighting back against AAA a few years prior to the events of the game left her and Echigoya as the only survivors of the island.]]

----
* BerserkButton: Do ''not'' threaten Echigoya in her presence. The Kagurazakas learned this the hard way.
* BigBad: [[spoiler:She is the main obstacle that stands in the Kagurazakas' way of liberating Bhikkhuni. Doubly so because she was the one that created the island's system.]]
* GetBackHereBoss: Spends most of the time during her boss battles traveling all over the arena.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: [[spoiler: Led an armed rebellion against AAA to rescue Echigoya years prior to the game's events.]]
* HeelRealization: [[spoiler:She has this after a combination of losing to Rinka and Echigoya calming her down near the end of the Order route.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: She actually has two, one per ending route. [[https://youtu.be/Cj-t5feVxuo?t=1m1s VOICE]] for Chaos and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVpSOF8vhNM UNITY]] for Order.
* MarionetteMaster: [[spoiler:Of the robotic variety, she controls ''every single'' robot present on the island. This takes a considerable amount of her power and thus when she needs to use her full power to stop Rinka, every robot on the island is render nonoperational.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler:Hers is failing to save her fellow Valkyries (especially Etch) from their fates at the hands of AAA during her own time as a student on Bhikkhuni. This leads to her reforming Bhikkhuni island under her watch and becoming the first Pillar God in order to prevent such a tragedy from happening ever again.]]
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:With Echigoya in the backstory. They're still together in the present day and Echigoya is ultimately the one who makes Gundari realize that her plan is flawed and to finally admit defeat in the Order ending.]]
* PlayingWithFire: Her elemental affinity is fire and she's quite skillful using it in combat.
* SelfDuplication: She's able to create a smaller, blue version of her to improve the odds on her while fighting the player. The clone has access to all of Gundari's attacks and will recover Gundari's health with any hit it receives.
* SoleSurvivor: [[spoiler:Gundari and Echigoya (in a manner of speaking for the latter) were the only survivors of AAA's attack on Bhikkhuni island years prior to the main storyline.]]
* TwoAliasesOneCharacter: [[spoiler:She and the Director are one and the same]]
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: [[spoiler:The main reason she fought back against AAA years ago? They attempted to experiment on Echigoya who was her partner Valkyrie at the time.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: You can't talk about Gundari's role in the story without spoiling the entire plot.
* WorldsBestWarrior: Her power is so great, that students aspiring to graduate only need to ''scratch'' her to approve. Echigoya reveals during the Order route that [[spoiler: this was also true back when Gundari was a normal Valkyrie, going so far as describing Gundari as an "Angry Goddess" during the rebellion against AAA]]

!!'''Spoiler Characters'''
[[folder:AAA]]

The military arm of the World Government, officially tasked with containing and quarantining the V-Virus infection. They were the ones who built the five artificial islands where the entire franchise takes place.
----
* TheBadGuyWins: This trope is the entire reason the Pillar Gods even exist.
* TheDreaded: Simply mentioning them is enough to send the Four Pillar Gods into a panic.
* GreaterScopeVillain: You never face them directly but their actions in the past and the looming threat they represent is what drives Gundari to turn herself into the first Pillar God and seal Bhikkhuni to the outside.
* OneWorldOrder: They are simply the military arm of the World Government.
* VillainOfAnotherStory: Takes a much more active role on ''Anime/ValkyrieDriveMermaid'' where they personally dispatch Momoka and her team to capture Mamori.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Will do anything to ensure the safety of the world, even conducting horrible experiments on V-Virus patients in the search of the perfect soldier.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:First Graduating Class]]
* DoomedByCanon: Their demise at AAA hands is what sets in motion Gundari's actions.
* SacrificialLion: Thanks to Gundari's leadership they were able to force a stalemate with AAA and were only defeated due to AAA cutting off all resources to the island, starving them to death.

[[folder:Mamori Tokonome & Mirei Shikishima]]

'''Mamori Tokonome'''
---> Voiced by Mikako Izawa
[[caption-width-right:253:[[labelnote:click here to see Mamori's Extar form.]][[quoteright:230:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/copia_de_mirei2.png]][[/labelnote]]]]
A mature, polite, and calm girl. She has a complex about being as short as an elementary student despite her big breasts. A pacifist by nature but since she met Mirei seems to find trouble everywhere they go.

'''Mirei Shikishima'''
--->Voiced by Creator/YukaIguchi

With her outstanding figure, olive skin, long blond hair reaching the ground and aloof silence she can seem intimidating but her character is pure and sincere and she actually loves cute things. Never one to turn a blind eye to injustices. She uses her abilities as S-Class Liberator to help everyone in need. However, her silent nature keeps her past a mystery.

----

''Tropes applicable to both of them''

----

* FusionDance: When activating Connect. Although unlike the version shown in the anime, doing this only surrounds Mirei with a multicolor energy aura.
* GuestFighter: They are originally from the anime and are available as paid DLC.
** ContinuityNod: Interestingly, they follow the same rules from the anime instead of the ones made up for the game. Thus, while ''[[VideoGame/ValkyrieDriveBhikkhuni Bhikkhuni's]]'' cast can take the Liberator or Extar role indistinctly, Mirei can only be a Liberator and Mamori can only be an Extar; plus Mamori is the only Extar available to Mirei and vice-versa.
* ItsRainingMen: Since they are bonus characters with no plot relevance, their intro cutscene has them pulling this.
** FreeFallRomance: Fitting their status as OfficialCouple
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FatK3b9_ws Brave]]
* OfficialCouple: Taken very literally by the game mechanics where they can only be paired with each other.

----

''Tropes specific to Mamori:''
----
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: Her Extar Form has been shown as being able to cut through anything.
* ActualPacifist: She '''hates''' violence with a passion. She will even plead on behalf of those who tried to brutalize her just moments before when they're being brutalized.
* AnimalMotif: Associated with house cats, mainly via the cat hairpin she wears.
* {{BFS}}: While in Drive she transforms into a sword as large as she is tall. And it only keeps getting larger as she goes through the different drive levels available.
** DivergentCharacterEvolution: Due to gameplay mechanics, Mamori is able to transform into a different set of weapons compared with the evolution she goes through on the [[Anime/ValkyrieDriveMermaid anime]]. Interestingly, only the first and second-tier forms are lifted straight [[http://i.imgur.com/fwL7WUI.png from the anime]] (and even then, her second-tier form is a sword here rather than a polearm as it was in the anime), the remaining two are [[http://i.imgur.com/q20b6DT.png completely original to the game]].
* CursedWithAwesome: Mamori's potential with the virus is so incredibly high that she became a priority target for AAA on the anime.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: A curious example, Mamori's eye color doesn't match her hair but ''Mirei's'' According to production notes, this is a shorthand to clue the viewer about her relationship with Mirei and how they're destined to be with each other.
* DamselInDistress: Finds herself as this during their intro cutscene
-->''Mamori: Hyaa~~Mirei..''
* EmbarrassingLastName: Her family name, "Tokonome," is written in the same Kanji as the word "Virgin." She is ''not'' amused when anyone points it out, especially when they laugh at her for it. To date, only [[TheStoic Mirei]] respects her wishes in this and actually calls her by name.
* EquippableAlly: A given due to her condition as Extar. However, since she's infected with the V strain of the armed virus, she can only be wielded by Mirei.
* EvolvingWeapon: Her extar form is given two new evolutions to fit the game mechanics.
** IconicItem: Her cat hairpin makes a return from the anime as an accessory available for the whole cast.
* LivingMacGuffin: Became AAA's primary target following the anime's events.
* PinkIsFeminine: Her favorite color is pink, as seen in just about everything in her wardrobe and she's exceptionally feminine.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The girly girl to Mirei's tomboy.
* TransformationIsAFreeAction: Unlike the VR-Class members, Mamori goes into first drive during their intro cutscene.

----

''Tropes specific to Mirei:''
----

* AnimalMotifs: She's associated with Dogs. Her hair outline is designed to give the impression of being dog ears and she's fiercely loyal, protective, and devoted to Mamori. It can be made literal in-game thanks to the different accessories available in the dressing room.
* BigDamnHeroes: Manages to pull this one on her ''intro scene'' to save Mamori via a DivingSave.
* BrutalHonesty: She tends to be very blunt.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Even without an Arm, she's agile enough to dodge bullets and strong enough to rip one or two high-tension cables purely with brute strength. Hundreds of cables at once is a bit too much for her though.
* ChildSoldier: Used to be a member of the SOLDIER program like Momo and Momoka.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: A curious example, Mirei's eye color doesn't match her hair but ''Mamori's'' According to production notes, this is a shorthand to clue the viewer about her relationship with Mamori and how they're destined to be with each other.
* DeathGlare: Fond of making these during her Drive Breaks
* TheDeterminator: She won't let anything stop her from fulfilling Mamori's wish of using their power to cure everyone infected with the Armed Virus.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Despite being blonde due to PowerDyesYourHair, she still embodies the trope, blonde hair, and being Mamori's PrinceCharming.
* HatesBeingTouched: She outright threatens the player when touched in the Dressing Room.
* HeroesPreferSwords: To date, every Extar partner she's had has taken the form of a sword.
* IGaveMyWord: Takes very seriously her promise to protect Mamori.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: The reason she's committed to fulfilling Mamori's wish of curing everyone.
* LightningBruiser: She's very fast and hits very hard, making her one of the best (if not the best) characters in the game.
* LimitBreak:
** ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: Launches Mamori towards the ground, creating an energy wave that damage any enemy on the range as her first Drive Break.
** BladeSpam: For her Second Drive Break she lunges forward, stabbing the enemy from every direction. Every lunge damages the enemy, unlike Momo's version where the damage is only dealt at the end.
** NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Does a particularly vicious one during her ultimate Drive Break.
* MythologyGag: Some of her animations are lifted directly from or are a reference to the anime and the diverse promotional artwork done for it:
** Her air triangle attack is the same she does on episode 2 of the anime.
** Does the same pose as the anime's key art a the end of she and Mamori's intro cutscene.
** Her Victory pose is the same pose her figurine is sculpted doing.
* NervesOfSteel: Nothing scares this girl. Nothing. At least not when it comes to her own safety. The health and well being of her partner being threatened, on the other hand, can make her act rather rashly.
* NoSocialSkills: She has serious trouble communicating with people.
* OneHandedZweihander: Subverted, she uses her two hands to wield Mamori during all of her attacks.
* PrinceCharming: Becomes this for Mamori following the anime's events.
* PowerGivesYouWings: During Final Drive, she's able to manifest a pair of energy wings during the finisher of certain combos and during her ultimate Drive Break. Interestingly, Koharu is the only other character able to do the same.
* TheStoic: Rarely talks, doesn't say much when she does, and rarely shows emotion.
* SwordBeam: Her signature attack allows her to launch one of these.
* VaporWear: Notoriously, she doesn't use a bra. Likely a remnant of her time as a SOLDIER since this maximizes her efficiency to Drive in the midst of battle.
** Amusingly this trope only applies to her school uniform. Put her on a different costume and she will wear a bra just like all the other characters in the game. The opposite is also true, make another character wear Mirei's uniform and she won't wear a bra with it.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Heavy emphasis on "protective," still if Mamori is threatened, she won't hesitate to pull a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown on the threat.
-->''Mirei: You are not laying a finger on Mamori''
* YoungerThanSheLooks: She is taller, more developed and deeper sounding than Mamori, but is only fifteen years old, the same as Ranka and one year ''younger'' than nearly the rest of the cast. Only Momo is younger than her.
----
