!!Daisuke Higashida

An OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent and primary viewpoint character of the series. He was forced to find part-time work at the local branch of ''Wagnaria'' after his father Kousaku lost his job recently. He's a little annoyed at the levity with which his family takes the situation, but realizes that he now needs to get used to his situation, both at home and at work.
----
* AllTakeAndNoGive: The Giver to Miyakoshi's Taker, to the point that Muranushi has to scold her because he doesn't actually have very much money.
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: His father Kousaku and mother Sachiko, including his younger sister Sakiko, are a bunch of goofballs who don't take anything seriously, which he finds highly embarrassing. For example, when Kousaku announces that he lost his job and has nothing in line to replace it, the rest of his family reacts with a hearty laugh. As a result, Higashida actually comes to like working at ''Wagnaria'' because he gets to spend time away.
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Miyakoshi. He admits she's cute if she's not talking, but given that most of time she's on screen she's shouting nonsense and/or poisoning him, it becomes this.
* BrutalHonesty: Whenever it comes to Miyakoshi or her family situation, he has no filter. And since Miyakoshi has given him food poisoning on more than one occasion, she usually lets him get away with it.
* BullyingADragon: Literally any time he insults Miyakoshi for her lack of intelligence.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: Unlike Takanashi, he doesn't have any strange, outstanding quirk other than being incredibly smart and, at least initially, is less likely to get involved with the staff's shenanigans.
* DeadpanSnarker: He isn't afraid to point out when Miyakoshi is being stupid.
* FirstNameBasis: It's never explained why, but when Miyakoshi met Nagata for the first time, she addressed Daisuke by his given name.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: While he can be quite snarky and cold, he's a good guy underneath it all.
* NearDeathExperience: Suffers these any time he eats Hana's chocolates, and always ends up interacting with St. Valentine, who sends him back.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Higashida is generally the StraightMan at the restaurant, but he has moments where his logic and reasoning is just about as wacky as everyone else's. For example, he agrees to start dating Miyakoshi because he figured if he refused, she would keep bothering him about it, and that if he went out with her, she would figure out that they're not a good match and would break up with him. This is already pretty twisted logic, but it's even worse because Higashida knows Miyakoshi only wants to date him because she was told by a shared hallucination that it would somehow improve her cooking ability.
* ObliviousToLove:
** Has no idea of Nagata's crush on him.
** Both he and Muranushi fail to notice Saitou's obvious crush on the latter. Shiho voices her concern on having to act as the StraightMan for once.
* OfficialCouple: Technically becomes one with Miyakoshi in Episode 8, though strictly (and ostensibly) to help the latter with her cooking abilities. [[spoiler:Becomes one with her for real in Episode 13.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Both Hana and Rui have mentally commented that if he does act nice, it's so out-of-the-norm they're actually disturbed by it.
* OnlySaneMan: To both Wagnaria and home. He often comments on how messed up they both are. Technically, Saiki probably would count, but his inability to converse in Japanese fluently results in Higashida being the only employee who comes off as sane.
* PayEvilUntoEvil: He's not afraid to torment people that have caused him pain.
* PerpetualFrowner: He's always seen with a frown.
* RelationshipUpgrade: A weird example. In Episode 8, he and Miyakoshi start dating, but it doesn't actually change anything in their relationship, romantically or otherwise. It's purely intended to [[ItMakesSenseInContext help improve Miyakoshi's cooking skills.]] [[spoiler:Happens for real in Episode 13, where Higashida ends his prior "relationship" with Miyakoshi in order to go out with her for real.]]
* RunningGag: His constantly eating Miyakoshi's chocolates despite it being lethal.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Savvy guy to Miyakoshi.
* TheSmartGuy: He goes to a high level high school and is the only one that can answer Kisaki's riddles.
* TheStoic: When he isn't frowning.
* TookALevelInJerkass: It's been stated that he's noticeably more aggressive since he's started working. He blames it on eating Hana's chocolates.
* WhenHeSmiles: He smiles his first genuine smile upon realizing that Miyakoshi's family is just as weird as his. It's so bright that he emits BishieSparkles. Too bad the reason he's smiling isn't exactly [[RuleOfFunny a good one.]]

[[folder:Hana Miyakoshi]]
!!Hana Miyakoshi
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HarukaTomatsu
[[quoteright:312:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hana_miyakoshi.png]]

Another high schooler and the floor manager at Wagnaria, Miyakoshi is Higashida's senior at the restaurant, and later on, his girlfriend. While a little dim academically, she's very enthusiastic about her work. Unlike Higashida, she doesn't seem to be bothered that much by the assorted quirks of her co-workers.
----
* AllTakeAndNoGive: The Taker to Higashida's Giver, but in some ways it's simply because she just doesn't know how relationships actually work. Indeed, Miyakoshi is very excited when she asks Kisaki what people do on dates and figures out it involves Higashida taking her places and buying her stuff. Muranushi has to scold her because of Higashida's financial dire straits.
* BelligerentSexualTension: Between her and Higashida. The fact that she is his girlfriend doesn't actually resolve it either, since their relationship status is mostly built on InsaneTrollLogic.
* BerserkButton: Insulting her cooking, although Higashida can get away with it (presumably because he has the courage to actually try it more than once).
* BookDumb: Incredibly. She's the floor chief while still in high school, but she can't answer elementary-level history questions and when faced with high school level math, she didn't even know it was math.
* BrutalHonesty: Though unlike Higashida, she leans more into the InnocentlyInsensitive side whenever she makes a remark that angers him.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: She's apparently very strong. Strong enough that both Kisaki and Muranushi are confident that she can beat a bear. And unlike Inami in the other Wagnaria, there's no real explanation as to why she's this way.
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: Downplayed. She does hit Higashida and Sakaki (and encourages others to hit Sakaki), but it's not too common and because both of them did something to threaten Wagnaria's business.
* DumbMuscle: She's not exactly the smartest tool in the shed, but damn if she isn't a one-girl workhorse.
* FearlessFool: She doesn't appear to have any sense of danger. She doesn't freak out at seeing a message written in blood and she's the ''only one'' to react with enthusiasm at the implication that there might be a ''bear'' lurking around the area where everyone is having a Test of Courage in during episode 3.
* GeniusDitz: Despite her idiocy, she does take her job as a floor manager very seriously, and is more than competent at it.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Miyakoshi seems completely unable to process the fact that her various actions might be having an increasingly negative effect on Higashida.
* ItsAllMyFault: She sees Higashida's rougher personality as her fault. So she plans on making him eat all her chocolates till she gets better. Everyone was horrified.
* LackOfEmpathy: She seems completely unable to process the thought that other people, specifically Higashida, are still living humans with thoughts and emotions. She even has to be told by Muranushi to actually think about his feelings when interacting with him.
* LethalChef: She is so bad at cooking that her chocolates cause near-death experiences. At one point, Muranushi makes a cryptic comment that her chocolates will make the eater "meet St. Valentine." It turns out she was being literal.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Miyakoshi's mother is shown to be pretty similar to her.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: She's as skinny as the rest of the cast, but she's one of the strongest.
* NoIndoorVoice: Practically everything she says is a shout.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Outside of actual work, she is by far one of the least sensible members of the cast.
* OddCouple: With Higashida. He's serious and claims to dislike weirdness, but she's an airheaded weirdo.
* OfficialCouple: Technically becomes one with Higashida in Episode 8, though for strictly non-romantic purposes. [[spoiler:Becomes one with him for real in Episode 13.]]
* OnlySaneEmployee: She sometimes comes across like this when she's the only cast member that's doing her job.
* RelationshipUpgrade: A weird example. In episode 8, Miyakoshi and Higashida start dating, but it doesn't actually change anything in their relationship, romantically or otherwise. It's purely intended to [[ItMakesSenseInContext help improve Miyakoshi's cooking skills.]] [[spoiler:Happens for real in Episode 13, where Higashida "breaks up" with Miyakoshi in order to go out with her for real.]]
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Energetic girl to Higashida.
* SelectiveObliviousness: She is very good with customers despite her normal insensitivity.
* TookALevelInKindness: Occurs gradually over the course of the series. She learns to be more empathetic and sensitive to the feelings of Higashida and others.

[[folder:Kisaki Kondo]]
!!Kisaki Kondo
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NanaMizuki (Anime), Creator/RisaTaneda (Drama CD)
[[quoteright:312:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kisaki_kondou.png]]

One of the senior waitresses at Wagnaria, Kisaki seems to be at her best trying to ''avoid'' the "working" part of the profession. A student of one of the area's better universities, she uses the little bits of academic trivia she learned there to either pass off her responsibilities to her other co-workers, or to simply leave her alone. She is also a single mother who brings along her infant daughter Hime at work because she thinks the baby is being spoiled too much by her maternal grandparents.
----
* CoolBigSis: Sometimes acts like and is treated as one by the employees, and occasionally gives very reasonable advice.
* BlatantLies: She uses them a lot to get Sakaki to buy her gifts.
* BrilliantButLazy: She's actually incredibly intelligent, but her laziness stops her from ever ever properly utilizing it. If anything, she uses her intellect to boggle people who ask her to work into leaving her alone with difficult questions.
* ChildhoodFriends: Episode 7 reveals that she and Muranushi went to elementary school together as such she knows Saitou.
* GoodParents: She brings Hime to the restaurant so she can care for her even when she's at work.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Subverted when Yuuta offers to return a winning lottery ticket that he got from her, she refuses. Turns out she refused because the tickets were from last year.
* {{Expy}}: Her personality is really similar to Kyoko's, and she smokes like Satou does.
* LazyBum: She tries her best to avoid work.
* OnlySmartPeopleMayPass: Invoked, whenever someone asks her to do her job she asks a question and only if the question is answered correctly will she work. Only Daisuke seems able to pass them, much to her mild annoyance.
* PerpetualFrowner: She's always seen with a frown.
* TheSmartGuy: She goes to a high level college and usually asks questions to get out of work.

[[folder:Sayuri Muranushi]]
!!Sayuri Muranushi
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YokoHikasa
[[quoteright:312:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sayuri_muranushi.png]]

Another of the waitresses at Wagnaria, Muranushi is quiet and a bit... odd. Despite claiming not to be able to see, or indeed ''believe'', in ghosts, she insists in serving customers none of the other staff can see. And not only that, the restaurant literally becomes a whole lot colder, darker, and ''eerier'' whenever she's not on duty.
----
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Despite the fact that she interacts with ghosts every day, she's very embarrassed about the fact that her family believes in things like ghosts and that her mother is an exorcist.
* ArbitrarySkepticism: Muranushi doesn't seem to believe in any form of supernatural including religion, even though she can see ghosts.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's not afraid to lay into people who upset her somehow, as both Adachi and Kouno can attest to.
* ChildhoodFriends: Episode 7 reveals that she and Kisaki went to elementary school together.
* TheDreaded: To Masahiro.
* ISeeDeadPeople: Muranushi sees ghosts clearly enough that she treats them as regulars, and does not believe that they are ghosts at all. This naturally bothers Higashida a lot, but when confronted about this not only does she counter that she ''doesn't'' believe in ghosts, she says she's never ever seen any yet in her life.
* InTheBlood: Turns out she comes from a family of exorcists.
* MoralityPet: Seems to be this for the ghostly customers.
* NiceGirl: Despite her emotionless appearance and stoic demeanor, she's actually pretty kind, polite, and considerate towards all the employees (except [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg Kouno]]).
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Why her smile is so scary is because how much it clashes with her usual emotionless demeanor.
* ObliviousToLove: Both Higashida and her fail to notice Saitou's obvious crush on the latter. Shiho voices her concern on having to act as the StraightMan for once.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:Eventually, she goes out with Masahiro]].
* OlderThanTheyLook: Downplayed, but she looks a bit younger than nineteen.
* OnlySaneEmployee: Her ability and denial of seeing ghosts notwithstanding, she is one of the more calm, level-headed, and reasonable employees. Not that that's saying much.
* PassiveAggressiveKombat: Prefers to indirectly and euphemistically tell off anyone who annoys her.
* TheStoic: Muranushi doesn't really let her emotions show on her face, though as episode 3 shows, she can and ''does'' get angry.
* WhenSheSmiles: She thinks that people freak out over her smile because it doesn't look good. It's actually the exact opposite; her smile is so dazzling that whenever it happens it's usually accompanied by the usual romantic visual effects, namely BishieSparkle, GaussianGirl, and LoveBubbles.
----
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Masahiro Adachi]]
!!Masahiro Adachi
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KoukiUchiyama
[[quoteright:312:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/masahiro_adachi.png]]

One of the two regular chefs of Wagnaria, Adachi is much more down to earth and less prone to theatrics as his kitchen co-worker is. Though generally used to the quirks of the other restaurant staff, Muranushi often throws him off balance, especially doing those rare times where she tries to emote.
----
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Muranushi. If it wasn't for the fact that he's afraid of her, many of his actions and lines toward her could be seen as romantic (and possibly are).
* BlueWithShock: A common reaction of his to whenever Muranushi tries to smile.
* CowardlyLion: Any time he has to interact with Muranushi after he sees her real smile. In Episode 3, when he hears that a bear is nearby he runs to save Muranushi because he's scared she'll haunt him if she dies.
* HeelRealization: A downplayed example in Episode 6. He's not really a jerk per se, but he does realize that his recent actions to Muranushi were pretty rude and is attempting to fix it.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: Best seen when he drops the ponytail in episode 9.
* NiceGuy: He's laid back and gets along with his coworkers well.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:Finally confesses to Sayuri after a few rough patches and they start dating]].
* RelationshipUpgrade: With Muranushi. They eventually become a couple to straighten their wacky relationship.
* SelectiveObliviousness: He can't decide whether he's attracted or afraid of Muranushi.
* StraightMan: To Kouno.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Kouno, though Adachi tends to get more screen time.
* UnConfession: In order to clear up a misunderstanding caused by a panicked reaction, Adachi tells Muranushi that he likes her, twice in a row. After a few seconds pass, he apparently reconsiders and adds in "relatively speaking."
----
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Takuya Kouno]]
!!Takuya Kouno
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HiroShimono
[[quoteright:312:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/takuya_kouno.png]]

The other regular chef of Wagnaria. While he's just as serious about his job as Masahiro, ''unlike'' his companion Kouno tries to squeeze as much enjoyment out of his work at the restaurant. Often this comes at the rest of his co-workers' expense, though it's always in the name of light-hearted fun.
----
* ButtMonkey: Though not as severe as some of the other males, he gets treated this way as well, such as when Yanagiba was planning to give him some chocolates on Valentine's Day out of pity, only to then ask if she can eat it herself.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Aside from Adachi, it's clear all the employees find him and his antics annoying and irksome.
* GreenEyedMonster: In the manga, he tried to ignore Valentine's day just because he wasn't going to get any chocolates.
* ItAmusedMe: Pretty much why he does anything.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He can be rather self centered in his gags, but he does care about his co-workers.
* {{Keet}}: Is always hyper.
* OutOfFocus: Despite being a named character and almost always on duty in the kitchen with Adachi, he rarely gets more than a couple of lines per episode and doesn't seem to have much of a particular story arc.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Adachi.
----
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Yuuta Shindo]]
!!Yuuta Shindo
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KenshoOno (adult) and Creator/AyakaSuwa (child)
[[quoteright:312:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuuta_shindou.png]]

A waiter at Wagnaria, Yuuta comes from a family that's buried in debt so deep most of his salary from his ''many'' jobs go into paying for it. As such he often has little to spend for himself, and has to rely on the restaurant leftovers to sometimes get through the day.

He's also Shiho's ChildhoodFriend, though this doesn't get him any favors as far as his family's debt goes. In fact, his inability to properly address the situation between the two of them often just digs him in ''deeper''.
----
* AintTooProudToBeg: He's desperate enough to beg Hime -- a baby -- for food.
* BrutalHonesty: As a child, he's blunt and straight-to-the-point. Such qualities is what attracted Shiho to him.
* ButtMonkey: His life is hilariously depressing.
* CelibateHero: Reasonably his main goal is surviving so he's not interested in a girlfriend right now.
* ChickMagnet: Comes with working as a host.
* ChildhoodFriends: He first met Shiho during childhood.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: He wants nothing more than to go back and tell Shiho that he likes her. [[spoiler:He gets to do so by the end of the series]].
* CrazyJealousGuy: Shows a passive-aggressive version of this when talking about how Shiho and Saitou seem to get along:
--> '''Yuuta:''' (smiling widely) I hope they get married, and have about 3 kids, and live happily in that uselessly large house. And then I hope they go bankrupt and their family falls to pieces! (laughs blissfully) Yup, I think that'd be really nice!
* DisappearedDad: Yuuta's dad ran on the family before the start of the series, saddling Yuuta with the responsibility of paying them off.
* ExtremeOmnivore: Due to his poverty as a kid he would eat grass and leaves.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Has blond hair and is an absolute sweetheart.
* IAmNotMyFather: Episode 10 reveals that his father is a pachinko addict who blew much of the family's earnings from their meat shop. As such Yuuta tries his best to not be similar to his father, which led to his harsh rejection of Shiho.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Try as he might, Yuuta will inevitably casually say something that would tick Shiho off. And it doesn't end with her.
* MyGreatestFailure: Really regrets turning down Shiho so harshly when they were kids.
* NiceGuy: He's a sweet, affable man who gets along with most of his coworkers. [[RichBitch Shiho]] is the sole exception, and even then he genuinely regrets inadvertently turning her into what she is today.
* NonUniformUniform: He doesn't bother wearing the bow tie for his waiter uniform.
* ObliviousToLove: Due mostly to his family's financial situation with Shiho's, he always misinterprets anything nice she does for him as being purely for her amusement. Shiho immediately gets angry at his obliviousness, which only further reinforces his belief. Though as a child he wasn't, easily seeing that Shiho liked him.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:He eventually corrects the mistake he made years ago and confesses to Shiho]].
* PerpetualPoverty: Thanks to his family's many debts. When asked by Higashida why he still works at ''Wagnaria'' despite a better-paying job as bar host, it is shown that he gets free leftover food.
* PrettyBoy: Yuuta is noted to be pleasant on the eyes, which helps immensely in his other job as a host.
* ThrowTheDogABone:
** In Episode 7, he gets a lottery ticket that can free him of his debt, which saddens Shiho. He eventually gives the ticket away due to fearing for his life and genuine regret at making her cry. Said act had the benefit of not only getting him on Shiho's good side, with the added bonus of a ¥500 (~$5) reduction to his debt, but it turns out the ticket was worthless anyway.
** In Episode 13 [[spoiler:Shiho's father gives him a better-paying job as a construction worker]].
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Inverted. As a child he used to have quite the attitude -- standoffish, blunt and honest. It's this side of his that Shiho fell in love with, thus she didn't take him outgrowing such traits well. [[spoiler:Only by revisiting his past self was he finally able to mend his broken relationship with Shiho.]]
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Says some incredibly thought provoking stuff as a child.
----
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Shiho Kamakura]]
!!Shiho Kamakura
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SoraAmamiya
[[quoteright:312:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shiho_kamakura.png]]

One of the other waitresses at Wagnaria, Shiho is the only daughter of one of the richest families in the city. Technically she doesn't even ''need'' to work, but seems to enjoy working at the restaurant anyway. Her mere presence at the restaurant serves as a constant reminder to Yuuta that he ''really'' had a good thing going, but had casually thrown it away because he didn't know better as a kid.
----
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Shiho's obviously still holding a torch for Yuuta. Unfortunately Yuuta's too hung up about the debt his family owes to hers to notice, which just infuriates her even more.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: As a child she fell in love with Yuuta because he didn't treat her differently from other kids just because she's rich.
* BodyguardingABadass: PlayedForLaughs. As one of her bodyguards trains a new guy, the newbie notices Shiho wielding a katana, and mentions that she doesn't seem to need protection. The other guard then tells him that their job is actually to protect ''Yuuta'', who was kneeling before her as she brandished her katana around.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: She and Yuuta have known each other since childhood, and she still has feelings for him despite her treatment of him. [[spoiler:She becomes much more kind to him when he properly confesses to her]].
* ChildhoodMarriagePromise: Tried making one with Yuuta. Unfortunately, it doesn't go as planned.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Always gets upset whenever she hears that Yuuta was around women. In one instance, he's happily eating chocolates presumably given to him by girls during Valentine's Day. She immediately slaps him with some lottery tickets to interrupt his eating and further torture him with it.
* TheDreaded: To Yuuta.
* DissonantSerenity: Despite Yuuta's obliviousness and tactlessness (notice a pattern here?), frustrating her to no end, Shiho will always react to situations with a small smile on her face... probably because she has ''other'' ways of making her displeasure known to Yuuta.
* FreudianSlip: When talking to her new bodyguard after he left the restaurant due to not wanting to be near Muranushi, she promises not to fire him, mostly because she enjoyed watching the awkward chemistry. She then talks about bullying a loved one for shits and giggles, realizes she was talking about herself, and tries to dismiss it immediately.
%%* GirlishPigtails
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Downplayed, while she isn't all too nice naturally anymore, Episode 10 reveals [[spoiler:the reason she so much more sadistic with Yuuta is because she was hoping by being so vicious, his more standoffish personality he had as a child would come back.]]
* HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler:Despite how much she claims to love money, she was willing to give up her fortune and even her family name to be with Yuuta.]]
* HumanizingTears: The snobbish Shiho tears up in despair over [[spoiler:the prospects of Yuuta paying off his debt and distancing himself from her for good]], and later in joy after [[spoiler:Yuuta finally makes up for his mistake and confesses to her]].
* HypocriticalHumor: Lays into Saitou for being mean to Muranushi despite liking her in order to get her attention. Shiho herself is probably the ''worst'' offender in this kind of behavior, with the way she treats Yuuta.
* ItAmusedMe: Yuuta considers almost everything she does as this. In the rare instances she's actually just trying to be nice, he still considers it this trope, which not only makes her angry, but eventually turns her behavior into actually being this trope.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Shiho's solutions to most problems are awful, especially where Yuuta is concerned. That said, at the very least she displays some respect for her other coworkers. Of note, in her hierarchy chart, [[TheSmartGuy Higashida]], [[TheStoic Muranushi]] and [[BrilliantButLazy Kisaki]] seem to rank the highest.
* LonelyRichKid: As a child, Shiho was often bullied because of her affluent background. Though she did eventually get a friend in Yuuta, it's easy to assume that she continued to have no luck making friends at school, as her father's response to the bullying was ''to assign her two bodyguards at all times''.
-->'''Young Yuuta:''' "So you've given up on making friends, huh?"
* LovingBully: She seems to spend more time tormenting Yuuta than actually working, even blackmailing him into interacting with her with the fact that his family owes a huge debt to hers, all the while it's obvious that she is madly in love with him. Eventually, though, she realizes that her attitude isn't winning his heart anytime soon.
* MafiaPrincess: "Loan Shark Princess", to be exact, but she fits the trope pretty well.
* MissingMom: Her mom died of illness when she was young.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:She [[TookALevelInKindness softens up considerably]] once Yuuta finally confesses to her]].
* {{Ojou}}: Shiho is rich, polite, and well-mannered.
* RichBitch: Often looks down upon and condescends people poorer than her.
* {{Sadist}}: Proudly calls herself one.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: Her solution to any problem is to throw money at it. Sometimes literally. She even says that only money never betrays people.
** ScrewTheMoneyIHaveRules: [[spoiler:Episode 12 has her invert her past behavior when she willingly gives up all her family money in order to be with Yuuta.]] More a case of morals than rules, but the process is similar.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: As a child she fell in love with Yuuta because not only was he not intimidated by her wealth, but treated her no differently from other kids of their age.
* StartOfDarkness: Her current, sadistic personality was triggered by Yuuta rejecting her, [[spoiler:even asking her to stop following him around]].
* SubordinateExcuse: Inverted -- Episode 7 reveals that Shiho uses Yuuta's debt as an excuse to be around him. The thought of him paying it off actually makes her depressed.
* TookALevelInKindness: Once [[spoiler:Yuuta finally confesses his love for her, and the issue of his family debt is mostly resolved,]] she softens up considerably in her personality and behavior.
* TranquilFury: Make no mistake, Yuuta's gaffes often drive Shiho up the wall, but she's never shown to raise her voice, nor does she make her displeasure obvious on her face.
* {{Tsundere}}: A brutal variant of the "sweet" type. She puts up a sweet facade both to her customers and fellow employees... with the sole exception of Yuuta, whom she frequently treats like a slave, even as it's obvious that she still likes him. Higashida even compared her to an elementary school kid that bullies the boy she likes on the playground.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: At least until little Yuuta broke her little heart.
* WeWantOurJerkBack: [[spoiler:All this time Shiho's attitude towards Yuuta is her way of forcing him to return to his standoffish personality from childhood, to which she fell in love because he treated her as a kid like him instead of deferring to her prestigious background.]]
* WomanScorned: Didn't take Yuuta's rejection too well.
* {{Yandere}}: Develops this look from time to time after obtaining a katana.

The manager of this Wagnaria. While he doesn't seem to be too bright, he's still able to keep his employees in line somewhat. Miyakoshi says he has a glass jaw however, and as a result he becomes a regular target of her punches.
----
* BookDumb: He had to use a calculator to solve a basic problem and still got it wrong.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: While normally pretty dim, turns out he was a very feared fighter in high school. In fact he's so dangerous that Shiho's dad pays him money to not join any opposing gang.
* CutenessProximity: Hime's cuteness is enough to win him over and allow Kisaki to keep bringing Hime to work.
* KindheartedCatLover: He spends a lot of his time feeding cat near Wagnaria.
* NiceGuy: He's very nice to all his coworkers and doesn't even seem to hold a grudge against Miyakoshi for punching him regularly.
* PlatonicLifePartners: [[spoiler:re:Order reveals he's been friends with Kyoko since high school but there isn't any romantic affection between them. Kyoko even compares their relationship to a dog and her owner.]]
* SuperGullible: He falls for every one of Kisaki's lies, even the more obvious ones like babies having two birthdays.
* WouldntHitAGirl: His past as a deadly hand-to-hand combatant is highly substantiated by several creditable witnesses. However Hana regularly knocks him out in a single blow, claiming he has a glass jaw. Strong as she might be, its strongly insinuated he lets himself get hit, rather than blocking or counter punching her.

A new hire much like Higashida, Saiki spent much of his childhood out of Japan, and as a result he can barely read or speak Japanese. When a friend sent an application with his personal info on it as a prank, he was obviously at a loss at what to do about it. Despite this communication problem however Sakaki hires him ''anyway'', and as a result he's now under Kisaki's dubious tutelage.
----
* BrutalHonesty: Since Saiki never grew up in Japan, he never developed the usual societal filters the rest of his co-workers have. As such whenever he notices something, it's likely that he'll comment on it, regardless of the possible consequences. For example, him noting that Shiho should just stop being mean for Yuuta rejecting her ''years'' ago nearly made Shiho attack him.
* GratuitousEnglish: Despite the fact that Saiki is a native English speaker who has very little knowledge of conversational Japanese, most of his actual dialogue (including conversations in which he's being corrected after saying the wrong thing) is in Japanese. However, at one point after he messes up a Japanese phrase to a customer, he has a on-screen conversation with Kisaki in English. However, very little of it is comprehensible without subtitles.
* {{Malaproper}}: As he's just getting used to speaking Japanese again, Saiki mixes up a lot of words and phrases. See how he accidentally uses ''tenshi'' (meaning angel) instead of ''kenshi'' (meaning swordsman) when Shiho tried to attack him.
* NiceGuy: He tries to get along with everyone, and only really fails when his Japanese fails.
* MoralityPet: Kenichiro notes that Kisaki tends to go easy on him.
* OnlySaneEmployee: Zig-zagged. The only weird thing about him is understandable due to not having a good grasp of japanese but he still manages to deliver the most provoking phrases in the show.
* StraightMan: Played with. He's never shown doing anything overly zany (particularly compared to the rest of the staff) and before he says anything, Nagata even has him pegged as a "normal person." Unfortunately, his linguistic mistakes are generally timed in a way that makes him come off as a total space case.

A regular customer of Wagnaria, Yanagiba is actually one of Higashida's classmates, but never been able to go to school, supposedly due to her her weak constitution. Of course, this doesn't seem to prevent her from hanging around Wagnaria every day, so Higashida thinks that she's just using her physical problems as an excuse to ''never'' come to school. Oh, and according to Muranushi, her long-departed grandfather is ''still'' a regular customer as well.
----
* BrilliantButLazy: Implied. She got accepted to the same school as Higashida and Nagata, but has a ditzy, airheaded demeanor.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Her thought processes tend to be a bit ... out there.
* GirlishPigtails: Though unlike Shiho, she wears them Hatsune Miku-style: long, and placed much higher on her head.
* HitodamaLight: Has two green wisps floating close to her all the time, indicating her frequent illness and possibly her grandfather.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: She catches a cold that's been going around the restaurant, but she seems to get much better as soon as Nagata tells her that she is really Yanagiba's friend, and that she hangs out with her for a reason other than seeing Higashida.
* TheNicknamer: She gives a nickname to every person who interacts with her. For instance, she calls Higashida "Higashi," Miyakoshi is "Hana-Hana," Nagata is "Naga-tan," and Saiki is "Shaiki."

One of Daisuke's classmates at Higashizaka High, he asks for her help in befriending Miri, in the hopes that it would force the latter to actually come to school. She has a secret crush on Daisuke, but because of all the women hovering around her classmate, she's unable to properly act on it.
----
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Has a crush on Higashida, although sometimes she questions the true nature of it.
* AngerBornOfWorry: When Higashida eats some of Miyakoshi's chocolate to find her, she was furious at his suicidal actions.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's furious when Daisuke and Hana deliberately eat Hana's chocolate, and berates them for risking their lives so casually.
* CannotSpitItOut: Wants to confess to Higashida (supposedly), but is always held back by Miyakoshi's interactions with him.
* NiceGirl: Probably the nicest member of the cast, she's exceedingly kind and polite to everyone.
* SatelliteCharacter: Rui's role is largely defined by her interactions with Daisuke and Miri.
* ShipperOnDeck: Realizes quite often that any time she helps Miyakoshi's relationship with Higashida, she's inadvertently doing this, such as when she helped the latter make a chocolate that wasn't lethal. Yanagiba eventually questions whether its this (because she wants to move on), but Nagata legitimately doesn't know the answer to that.
* RageBreakingPoint: As noted in the AngerBornOfWorry example, she was so worked up by Higashida's action she lectured both him and Miyakoshi for three hours straight.
* WeirdnessCensor: The more time she spends at Wagnaria, the more she develops one of these. Indeed, at one point, Kisaki gets concerned because Saiki is interacting with customers, but Higashida assures her that its fine because its Nagata and Yanagiba, who are used to it.

Kisaki's infant daughter, who she takes to work because she thinks her mother spoils the baby. Doesn't do much, but is beloved by the staff.
----
* BrainyBaby: Can't talk (at least not until the end of the series), but is capable of solving basic trigonometry problems.
* CheerfulChild: A happy, friendly baby.
* CutenessProximity: She has a tendency to wildly distract the other workers at Wagnaria.
* SatelliteCharacter: Justified in that she's a baby, so she is rarely if ever seen without her mother somewhere around.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Has her mother's hair and eye colors.
* SuddenlyVoiced: Learns to talk after the TimeSkip at the very end of the series. Unsurprisingly, given who her mother is, one of her first words is "Money".
