After Issei's promotion to High-Class Devil, he is given a set of Evil Pieces allowing him to form his own peerage with himself as King. He trades several of his pieces with Rias in exchange for Asia, Xenovia, and Rossweisse, and one with Lady Phenex in exchange for Ravel, giving him two Bishops, a Knight, and a Rook. Issei recruits the descendant of the original Leviathan, Ingvild, as his Queen. [[spoiler:With Sona becoming the new head of the Sitri family and thus unable to battle on the front lines, Bennia is traded into his peerage, becoming his second Knight.]]

--> ''Lord. Can you please listen to my wish? Please protect Ise-san forever. Also... Please allow me to continue living with Ise-san...''

As a young infant, Asia Argento is discovered by the Roman Catholic Church. She becomes a nun because of her healing powers. After healing Diodora Astaroth, however, Asia is exiled as a heretic. Sometime later, she meets and befriends Issei while looking for a local church. When Asia is killed by Raynare, Rias revives her as her Bishop and Asia joins the Occult Research Club, continuing to use her healing powers in the process. She is traded to Issei upon his promotion to High-Class Devil, making her Issei's first Bishop.
----
* ACupAngst: In the anime, when engaged in a LoverTugOfWar with Rias over Issei, [[BuxomBeautyStandard she admits that she might lose based on the size of her chest]].
* ActualPacifist: Asia's strength lies in healing her comrades, and she has no direct offensive abilities whatsoever. [[spoiler:She's shown to have learned basic elemental magic by Shin Volume 2, willing to fight for her King and fiancé Issei.]]
* AlliterativeName: '''A'''sia '''A'''rgento. Gamebreaking points for having the same initials as her Japanese voice actress.
* AllLovingHeroine: Asia loves everyone. Even when she was still a human, she didn't resent Devils and treated everyone equally, regardless of what they were. Azazel comments that this could be a potential drawback to her long-distance healing powers, as she probably wouldn't have the heart to ignore her enemies' injuries.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: The Church exiled her when she was discovered to heal angels, humans ''and'' devils such as Diodora.
* TheAloner: She becomes a hermit in her backstory after being exiled from the Church, using her powers for healing others.
* AmusingInjuries: Apparently her nun training is still pretty well-ingrained. If she's relieved, she usually says something like "Thank God" followed by a whimper of pain since devils cannot pray. However, there's really no excuse for her trying to read Literature/TheBible repeatedly even though it has the same effect.
* BabiesEverAfter: In the future, she has a daughter with Issei, named Airi.
* BackFromTheDead: She is killed during the removal of her sacred gear at the end of Volume 1, but is revived, and subsequently added to the Occult Research Club, by Rias shortly afterwards. [[LateArrivalSpoiler This is common knowledge.]]
* BarrierWarrior: She becomes one in volume 20. When her Sacred Gear goes Balance Breaker becoming Twilight Saint Affection using Fafnir's aura, Rizevim's most powerful attacks can't get through, and he has to flee from a very, '''very''' pissed off Issei.
* BathtubBonding: The anime openly shows her being the first girl in Ise's harem to bathe with him, at her request no less. Issei's mom walks in on them and gets the wrong idea...
--> "Honey! We're going to be seeing our grandchild soon!"
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: While all of the girls in Issei's harem fall in love with him due to his kindness, Asia is the most notable because Issei was her FirstFriend and the person who tried to save her from Raynare, being with her as she died due to having her Sacred Gear removed by Raynare.
* BettyAndVeronica: In Volume 2, Asia and Rias are presented as Issei's primary love interests because the harem is merely starting. Asia is the Betty; the cute, sweet and pure-hearted girl raised as a nun.
* BeyondTheImpossible: Made pacts with Four mass-produced evil dragons, which was only supposed to be possible for Evil Gods.
* BigGood: She serves as the leader of the Occult Research Club by the end of volume 19.
* BitchSlap: She slaps Diodora after he insults Issei within earshot of her.
* BreastExpansion: In Volume 23, [[spoiler:Issei explicitly states that Asia's breasts have grown to Irina and Xenovia's size.]] Justified, since Asia is still in the later parts of a woman's growth stage (where it usually ends at the early twenties) and that she is a devil, as Ravel states her demonic energy and desires to have a big bust for Issei helps her grow. This is even carried over to the fourth anime season, ''Hero''.
* ChainmailBikini: Her Balance Breaker gives her golden PoweredArmor from her bond with Fafnir, but it's rather revealing compared to similar Balance Breakers.
* CleavageWindow: Her Crimson Uniform she wears during the Azazel Cup contains a small one.
* ClingyJealousGirl: It starts to show up a lot more after Rias moves in with Issei and her in his parents' house. As a result, if Asia sees Rias doing something perverted, she'll attempt to join in. For example, if she sees Rias naked in bed with Issei, she'll start stripping off her clothes as well. She's generally too mild-mannered to start any actual conflict, though.
* ClubPresident: She replaces Rias as the club's president and resident BigGood at the end of Volume 19.
* ContrivedCoincidence: Asia is lucky that Vali and his group are around at the Dimension Gap searching for Gogmagog, otherwise she would have died.
* CuteClumsyGirl: Issei first meets her after she trips. Also shows up in her and Koneko's spinoff manga.
* DamselInDistress:
** Way back in Volume 1, Raynare kidnaps Asia but Issei refuses to give up hope on her. [[HopeSpot He eventually finds Asia]], but tragically, she dies in his arms, having her Twilight Healing stolen by Raynare. [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge He delivers a beat down to Raynare out of a grief-stricken rage]].
** In Volume 6, Diodora kidnaps Asia on Shalba's orders. The Occult Research Club successfully finds her in the Underworld and Issei gives a major CurbStompBattle on Diodora. And when Shalba kills Diodora and sends Asia to the Dimensional Gap, Issei uses Juggernaut Drive for the first time and easily beats him to a pulp
** In ''EX'', Asia's future self is cursed by Loki to grow weaker every day, with the kids coming back to both stop him and find a way to rescue her.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She was abandoned by her parents when she was a baby at a church doorstep. She was raised in that church and sometime during her childhood, she gained the ability to use her Twilight Healing. She was eventually persecuted as a heretic for healing Diodora Astaroth, a devil.
* DisneyDeath: In Volume 6, she is sent to the dimensional gap by Shalba Beelzebub, a member of the Old Satan Faction. While this provokes Issei into giving Shalba a CurbStompBattle, she is rescued by Vali, who happened upon her body while traversing the void.
* DoorstopBaby: According to her {{backstory}}, her parents left her behind at a church doorstep.
* TheExile: Asia is exiled from the Church when she heals Diodora. Turns out that Diodora planned this from the beginning.
* FanserviceModel: [[spoiler:As of Shin Volume 2, she's featured on a Gremory-owned show as an underwear model alongside Xenovia and Irina.]]
* FanservicePack: She becomes considerably more attractive in volume 23, where her breasts become larger and this is carried over to ''Hero''. For the Azazel Cup she also ditches her modest green robe for a much more revealing outfit complete with lack of visible underwear.
* TheFarmerAndTheViper: Asia learns the hard way that being nice to Diodora, an ObviouslyEvil devil who has turned other Catholic nuns into heretics, isn't going to change his heart.
* FirstKiss: Asia shares her first kiss with Issei.
* FriendlessBackground: Before meeting Issei, Asia laments that she doesn't have any friends.
* FromRoommatesToRomance: After Rias revives her as a devil, Asia moves into the Hyōdō residence and Issei's parents welcome her after Rias proposes to train Asia as a future wife for Issei. Asia does eventually become one of Issei's many wives.
* GoodShepherd: Raised as a nun, she is a pious cleric and does her best to help everyone she can, be it with Twilight Healing or something else. Even after being raised as a devil, she continues to pray.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She's blonde, sweet, innocent, pure-hearted, and a faithful Catholic.
* HappilyAdopted:
** Sort of. There's no formal adoption, but ''everyone'' acts like Issei's parents are her actual parents, and Issei spends several volumes trying to force himself to think of her as his sister due to feeling incredibly guilty over not being able to save her from Raynare before ultimately giving up on it. Rias even holds the majority of the group back for "clean-up" during a battle in Volume 20 and orders Issei and Asia to go save his parents alone because the parents ''should'' be saved by their son and daughter.
** ''EX'' reveals that later in the future, Asia would be officially adopted into the Hyōdō family, along with Ravel and Le Fey, as a way of [[LoopholeAbuse getting around Japan's polygamy laws]]. This is why Airi, Robertina and Mordred are the only ones with the Hyōdō surname.
* HealingHands: The first time she demonstrates Twilight Healing, she does in the classic sense of holding her hands over the injury she wants to heal, but she can heal allies at a long distance. If she's near an enemy, the healing aura will just dissolve. She doesn't utilize the Reverse method because it would be risky for the Twilight Healing user (that and she's surrounded by one hell of a BadassCrew anyway).
* TheHeretic: She was excommunicated from the Church after Diodora tricked her into healing him.
* TheHermit: She retreated into complete isolation after being expelled from the Church, using her powers to help people.
* HimeCut: Has this hairstyle, despite being Italian, not Japanese. It fits her gentle and humble personality.
* IdiotHair: She has a strand sticking out of her hair, and is kind of clumsy and naive.
* IGotBigger: She hit her growth spurt by volume 23, with her breasts becoming the size of Xenovia and Irina's.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Asia has a FriendlessBackground because of her powers, and then [[TheExile she was exiled]] from the church that she was raised in thanks to Diodora's schemes. Fortunately, Issei, Rias and their friends are there for her.
* ImageSong: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo_de-3Gop8 Kagiri Naku Junsui ni Chikai Daten]]
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Extremely kind, sweet and pure-hearted. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body and loves everyone.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: Is hovering between this when she doesn't realize there's a problem with getting naked in a particular situation and a ShamelessFanserviceGirl who fully comprehends what she's doing but does it anyway to achieve her goals.
* InstantExpert: Picks up demon magic with just a few lessons from Akeno. Then again, it seems to follow a similar process to Twilight Healing, which she's been using all her life.
* IronicName: Possible example. Asia's RL namesake is an actress/director known for some pretty... controversial films.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: She's more or less regarded as Issei's adoptive sister, and Issei frequently talks himself out of intimacy with her as if they're biologically related.
* MarryThemAll: She is the first of the haremettes to bring up the subject of polygamy, as Rias is moving into the Hyōdō residence (although she's talking to herself and Issei just overhears her, and, [[ObliviousToLove in typical Issei fashion]], doesn't know ''why'' she's talking about it). [[spoiler: He finally proposes to her toward the end of Volume 23, one volume after proposing to Rias.]]
* TheMedic: Her role in Rias' peerage is to heal her teammates.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: She's named after the famous Italian actress Creator/AsiaArgento.
* NiceGirl: Asia is probably one of the nicest devils in the underworld. A special has her thinking up ways to be crueler befitting her new demonic nature, and she comes up with such [[PokeThePoodle supposedly unforgivable things]] as stealing milk from the neighbors, switching shoes in shoeboxes, and ignoring erasers that people drop. Even these are enough to bring her to tears and make her start begging God for forgiveness.
* NoSocialSkills: As a result of being sheltered by the Church for most of her life, she has little idea of how to socialize. For example, she doesn't know how to make orders from a fast-food chain. Though she gets better over time.
* NoSell: Subverted. At first her Balance Breaker, Twilight Saint Affection, seems to have this power, but it is revealed that it actually heals any damage done within its field almost as instantly as it is caused.
* NumberTwo: She is this within the harem since Issei's affection for her is only second to TopWife Rias. Even Akeno gives her that position; though knowing her fetish for affairs it serves her own purposes. In the [=EX=] future, Asia is even the second one to give birth to Issei's child and his first daughter.
* OneHeadTaller: She's smaller than Issei, who is 170 cm/5'7[=''=], while she's only 155 cm/5'1[=''=]. Being smaller than him is part of what makes him so protective of her.
* OnlyThePureOfHeart: Sprite dragons only open their hearts to those who are pure of heart themselves. It is rare indeed for them to bond with devils, let alone immediately and on their own initiative, as Rassei does with Asia. Akeno and Rias theorize that being a nun played a role in it.
* ParentalSubstitute: Serves as a mother figure to Issei's future children, including the ones she did not give birth to herself.
* PlayingCardMotifs: In the ending theme of the Season 1 anime, Asia is shown as the Joker, like Issei.
* PowerAtAPrice: For Fafnir to follow her instructions, he just needs a treasure. Unfortunately for Asia, it's her panties.
* ProneToTears: She's quite prone to crying, the reasons ranging from her comrades getting hurt to jealousy over other girls (particularly Rias) making advances on Issei.
* PronouncingMyNameForYou: In the dub, Issei's father pronounces it the way one says it when speaking of the continent (AY-sha), while she corrects him in that it's AH-zyah.
* {{Protectorate}}: A lot of people are invested in keeping her safe. Issei becomes surprisingly gentlemanly where she is concerned and is willing to endure a lot of pain to rescue her from Raynare. Rassei decides to protect her soon after seeing her for the first time and becomes her familiar despite her being a devil (which is rare for sprite dragons). Rias is protective of all of her servants and lodges her in her own home until finding her a more permanent home.
* RankUp: After Rias's graduation, she becomes the President of the Occult Research Club.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Some scanlations often use "Aashia" and "Ashia". Some early promotional material didn't help solve this issue either until they resolved it with her current name.
* SummonMagic: This is what Azazel advises to Asia so she could catch up with the rest of the team. So he gives her Fafnir. [[spoiler:Later, her daughter inherited the Dragon King after her mother was cursed by Loki during his time travels.]]
* SupremeChef: Out of all the harem, Asia is believed to be the best in cooking.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Her striking a friendship with Xenovia, who becomes a big sister surrogate.
* TokenReligiousTeammate: Despite being reincarnated as a Devil, Asia still believes in God and follows His teachings such as praying to Him and reading the Bible.
%%* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The girly-girl to Xenovia's tomboy.
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler: In Volume 2 of ''Literature/ShinHighSchoolDXD'', she fought against Crom Cruach alongside Fafnir in the Rating Game against Rias' team with Crom Cruach unable to break her Balance Breaker; by the end of the fight Crom Cruach broke one of his arms against Fafnir and Asia even used [[PlayingWithFire fire magic]] and [[BlowYouAway wind magic]] offensively against Crom Cruach despite her kind nature before he retired her.]]
* TouchedByVorlons: Is blessed by Ophis to be able to make pacts with Dragons; the first is Fafnir. (Rassei doesn't count, as he is a Familiar).
* {{Tsundere}}: Not her, ''her breasts''! Yes, Issei used [[PowerPerversionPotential his new ability]] to hear what a girl's breasts are saying.
* UndyingLoyalty: After falling in love with Issei, Asia swears that she will always stand by Issei's side forever, and in demon years that is in the thousands. She declares she will join Issei's Peerage when he becomes a High-Class Devil. [[spoiler:And she does upon his promotion in Volume 22!]]
* UnwittingPawn: She never realized she was being used as a pawn by Diodora until it was too late.
* WhiteMagicianGirl: She fits the trope to a T: profusely compassionate and specializes in healing her teammates.
* WitchHunt: Asia was persecuted as TheHeretic when she was discovered to be able to heal not only angels and humans but also devils thanks to Diodora.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: Asia can't return to the church any longer because she's a heretic.

!!Xenovia Quarta
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2012_10_02_532384.jpg]]
->'''Role:''' Knight\
'''Species:''' Human / Reincarnated Devil\
'''Voiced by:''' Creator/RisaTaneda (Japanese), Creator/LaurenLanda (English)[[labelnote:Foreign [=VAs=]]]Creator/NadineZaddam (German)[[/labelnote]]

--> ''I will bring judgement upon you with my own hands, in the name of God.''

Xenovia Quarta is an exorcist for the Roman Catholic Church who wields the Holy Sword Durandal. Along with fellow exorcist Irina Shido, Xenovia travels to Kuoh Academy to retrieve the three Excalibur swords that were stolen by Kokabiel. After retrieving the swords, she is exiled by the church for discovering that GodIsDead and joins the Occult Research Club as Rias' Knight. As a student of Kuoh Academy, she intends to become the academy's StudentCouncilPresident, competing against Momo Hanakai and succeeding, forcing her to leave the Occult Research Club. After Issei's promotion to High Class Devil, she is traded to him by Rias, making her Issei's first Knight.
----
* TheAce: She's one of the smartest at her class much to Issei's surprise. This is more impressive since when she first started attending Kuoh, she wasn't literate [[note]]Literacy in Japanese involves being able to read not only the "alphabet", but also the 100 most common Kanji (of thousands)[[/note]] and mentions pulling all-nighters so she can learn to read the classwork properly. [[spoiler: In the future, she rose up to her ante, becoming a headmistress of a cram school.]]
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: By the time of volume 4, she is excommunicated from the Church for understandably learning that GodIsDead. Her status as a heretic is ultimately what leads to her reconciliation and friendship with Asia, who was equally considered one. The two still maintain their faith in God, however, but it's not enough to get them accepted back.
* {{Ambadassador}}: She and Irina are sent to Japan to retrieve the Excalibur fragments and negotiate a non-aggression pact with the Occult Research Club. When the situation goes FromBadToWorse, Xenovia and Irina team up with the Student Council and the Occult Research Club to fight Kokabiel. Even after having Rias transform her into a devil and later becoming the StudentCouncilPresident, Xenovia hasn't lost her negotiating skills.
* AmusingInjuries: Like Asia, she gets headaches whenever she tries to pray after reincarnating as a devil until Issei asks Michael to let the two do so without resistance.
* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe: When Issei's clone uses Dress Break on her in a side story, she gets mad... because he didn't take advantage of her afterward.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: She is a badass swordswoman who eventually becomes the Student Council President, [[spoiler: leader of her own peerage, and a headmistress of her own school]].
* AttackAttackAttack: Something Kiba notes that she really needs to get out of. Which finally happens in Volume 14.
* TheAtoner: She makes up for the mistake she made to Asia at the end of Volume 3.
* BabiesEverAfter: She finally gets her wish to reproduce as, in the future, she has a son with Issei, named Zen.
* BadassCape: As a Church exorcist, white hooded cloak with gold and blue accents.
* BadassTeacher: In ''EX'', she teaches her students as their headmistress from time to time.
* [[BashBrothers Bash Sisters]]: With Irina. They can even anticipate each other's moves in combat, not requiring to vocalize them, making them a very formidable TagTeam.
* BeAsUnhelpfulAsPossible: When the girls catch her and Issei in a compromising position, Xenovia only digs Issei deeper into the hole by casually continuing her requests to make children. She later realizes that she was asking too much of him at the time... [[ComicallyMissingThePoint and gives Issei condoms]] ''in the middle of class'' so they can "practice".
* BecameTheirOwnAntithesis: A heroic example. After the Occult Research Club's battle with Kokabiel, Xenovia goes from a devoted Catholic exorcist to a devil, the very species that serve as the Church's enemies.
* {{BFS}}: Durandal is a pretty big sword.
* TheBigGirl: Xenovia is a power-type fighter and usually takes the direct approach in fighting, often trying to get the first attack before the fight officially begins.
* BigSisterInstinct: When Asia is taken by Diodora, she ''vaporizes'' two devils who got in her way.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: Like most others in the Church, she initially views devils, heretics, and fallen angels as enemies. However, she also didn't realize that in actuality GodIsDead until it was too late.
* BoyishShortHair: She cut her hair short after a dangerous mission involving a vampire.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Even more so than Asia. Once she has her HeelFaceTurn, she gets very jealous when she sees Asia or any other girl is about to do naughty things to Issei to the point where she strips and attempts to seduce him.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: She lacks a lot of common sense, due to living most of her life sheltered in the Church like Asia.
* TheCoatsAreOff: She takes off her cape when she is ready to fight until she becomes a member of the Occult Research Club.
* ContraltoOfStrength: She has one of, if not the deepest voice of all the female Peerage members, courtesy of both Creator/RisaTaneda in Japanese and Creator/LaurenLanda in English, befitting her battle prowess and her personality as one of the most serious and tomboyish women amongst the main heroines.
* CoolBigSis: She becomes an older sister surrogate to Asia towards the end of Volume 3, given their shared backgrounds as Italian heretics to the Church despite still believing in God as devils.
* CoolSword: She's the current wielder of Durandal, her main weapon.
* CovertPervert: The "pervert" part is undeniable. The "covert" part is at best paper-thin. During the short story "300 Isseis", when one of his clones (whom she thought was the real Issei) used Dress Break on her, she got angry not because she got stripped, but because he didn't do anything else to her.
* DarwinistDesire: Her initial attempts to seduce Issei were due to how powerful her children would be when sired with a host of the Red Dragon Emperor. True enough, her son in the future, Zen, is quite powerful in his own right.
* DefrostingIceQueen: During her time as an exorcist, her initial indifference towards Asia, herself an exiled follower of God, causes Issei to ''snap'' when she [[ShootTheDog attempts to kill Asia]]. Fortunately, she realizes the error of her ways and becomes [[CoolBigSis an older sister surrogate]] to Asia after the latter [[EasilyForgiven forgives her]] at the end of Volume 3.
* DitzyGenius: Despite frequently spouting off incoherent lines, she's one of the best students in Issei's class. She is severely lacking in the social skills department as seen below.
* DoYouWantToCopulate: She wastes no time in letting Issei know that she wants his genes. She has condoms on hand whenever he wants to 'practice'. [[ComicallyMissingThePoint Let that sink in.]]
* DualWielding: Usually wields Durandal but sometimes she wields it alongside Ascalon whenever Issei lends it to her, and eventually with Excalibur. She eventually learns a technique that requires her to dual wield to use it, Cross Crisis.
* DumbMuscle: A debatably accurate accusation often leveled towards her, much to her annoyance. She lacks finesse or technique in combat, and just powers through, making her the exact opposite of dexterity-oriented Kiba. This leads to a hilarious subversion in Volume 14, when she starts using different Excaliburs. Kiba actually starts shedding tears of joy, and the attacking magicians are dumbstruck that the "power idiot" can use techniques.
* EarlyBirdCameo: She made a brief appearance in the post-credits of Season 1 during the announcement for ''NEW''.
* EasilyForgiven: By Asia Argento at the end of Volume 3 when she has Rias transform her into a devil and apologizes for her earlier actions in their first meeting. The Church, not so much.
* EducationMama: Her son Zen hinted that [[spoiler:she becomes this in the future to the kids as well as being a headmistress, but is laxer compared to other examples since they are more sociable and fighting a war.]]
* EnemyMine: Despite being initially opposed to Devils and Fallen Angels as an exorcist, she and Irina still negotiate with the Occult Research Club to hunt down the Excalibur fragments.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: She accumulated a lot of fangirls during the Rating Games.
* TheExile: She is exiled from the Church as a heretic for understandably learning the truth about God at the end of Volume 3.
* FaithHeelTurn: Subverted -- even after joining Rias's team, she still retains her faith in God.
* FanserviceModel: [[spoiler:As of Volume 2 of ''Literature/ShinHighSchoolDXD'', she's featured on a Gremory-owned show as an underwear model alongside Asia and Irina.]]
* ForgivenButNotForgotten: Xenovia does eventually reconcile with Asia shortly after the former becomes a heretic, but she remains deeply affected by what happened during their first meeting (which is understandable, considering Xenovia was an exorcist who opposed Devils).
* FormFittingWardrobe: Her church battle outfit fits her shape.
* GoodCostumeSwitch: After learning the truth about God and having Rias transform her into a devil, Xenovia ditches the white cape and hood combo she wore when she was an exorcist, as well as the rosary necklace.
* GorgeousGaijin: She's an attractive Italian compared to the (still attractive) Japanese Irina, making her the second Italian of Rias' peerage alongside Asia. Unlike the blond Asia though, Xenovia's blue hair isn't exactly what girls from her region are known for.
* HeelFaceTurn: Although Xenovia isn't a villain, she is converted into a devil and joins the Occult Research Club after finding out the truth about God from Kokabiel.
* HeelRealization: In the Volume 3 finale, she undergoes one after learning that GodIsDead and apologizes for her earlier actions towards Asia.
* TheHeretic: At the end of Volume 3, Xenovia is excommunicated from the Church after finding out that GodIsDead. Fortunately, she makes friends with Asia, a fellow heretic.
* HeroesPreferSwords: She uses the sword Durandal as her weapon.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Despite being a well-known swordswoman and exorcist, she gets exiled by the Church for learning that GodIsDead.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: She and Irina are [=BFFs=], even after the former became a devil.
* ImpossiblyCoolClothes: Her church battle outfit.
* ImportantHaircut: Her hair was once long in the past, but after going through the vampire mission, she cuts her hair short.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: As Asia, she is hovering between this when she doesn't realize there's a problem with getting naked in a particular situation and a ShamelessFanserviceGirl who fully comprehends what she's doing but does it anyway to achieve her goals.
* InTheHood: Back when she was an exorcist, she wears a white cape with a hood attached to it. By the end of volume 3, she uses the standard Kuoh Academy uniform.
* IShallTauntYou: When Xenovia encountered Asia back in volume 3, she rubs the latter's exile in her face to Issei's understandable frustration. Later in the volume, she taunts Kiba for becoming a stray devil.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Xenovia can be a stoic jerk, but she has a compassionate personality. She drops the "Jerk" part of her character after she's banished from the church toward the end of Volume 3.
* KnightTemplar: When we first meet her, Xenovia believes in upholding the faith of the Church, even willing to kill Devils if absolutely necessary... until she learns that GodIsDead.
* TheLadette: As a result of being raised first and foremost as an exorcist. Her speech patterns are decidedly unfeminine compared to other girls in the series, and she's out of touch with what's considered girly activity.
* LadyOfWar: Early on, she’s portrayed as a very serious swordswoman, especially compared to her livelier partner Irina. She retains her battle prowess later on despite becoming an immodest airhead outside of fights.
* LeeroyJenkins: She always charges into battle before anyone else. Issei doesn't react well to it.
* LeotardOfPower: And has her sword to back it up.
* LongHairIsFeminine: In the past, she grew her hair out for this reason, even though she also found in a hindrance in battle. After it gets caught in a fight with a Vampire, she cuts it down to its current length.
* MaleGaze: Most of her fanservice-heavy arts give a good focus to her shapely derriere.
* MarryThemAll: After Issei proposes to Rias and declares his love for Akeno in front of a crowd, she becomes determined to make him "take responsibility" for her, Irina, and Asia as well. ''She'' later proposes to ''him'' during a Rating Game match, and he accepts. Oddly, perhaps due to her Christian upbringing, her proposal is the first one to use conventional marriage terms; with Rias, he asks her to "lead the same life" as him, while Xenovia specifically asks to be his bride.
* MasterSwordswoman: It comes with her being an experienced exorcist and a Knight, which lets her fight against Kokabiel as well as the Khaos Brigade's forces.
* MentorArchetype: [[spoiler:She teaches her fellow students as a school headmistress by the time ''EX'' rolls around]].
* MorphWeapon: Knows how to use Mimic thanks to Irina.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution:
** Done with any talks before the fight? [[LeeroyJenkins She'll fire off the first blow before anyone else, much to Issei's consternation]].
** She ''really'' wanted to kill Diodora, but [[BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork Shalba beat her to it]].
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: While she doesn't utter the phrase, her guilt-ridden expression just screams this trope upon her reconciliation with Asia at the end of Volume 3.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: Her first name is a misspelt version of Queen Zenobia, the famous warrior-queen from Palmyra (now modern Syria).
* NoSocialSkills: Talks about condoms and having babies to Issei ''out loud'' in front of ''everybody''. Needless to say, she doesn't have the slightest social grace due to her having grown up as a member of the Church.
* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: After befriending Asia, Xenovia's repeatedly beaten herself up for calling her a witch during their first meeting.
* OnlyOneName: She was only referred to as Xenovia until her last name Quarta was revealed in Volume 19.
* PillarOfLight: What happens when she combines Durandal with Ascalon.
* RankUp: When Sona graduates, she becomes the Student Council President of Kuoh Academy. She later is promoted to High-Class Devil herself, giving her the right to have her own peerage. [[spoiler:Among said Peerage includes Ruruko, who Sona traded to her after she was forced to take over as head of the Sitri Clan, Kuroka, who was officially given by Ajuka so as to no longer leave her marked as a stray, and Balberith and Verrine, who had defected from Hades side [[IJustWantToBeLoved out of a desire for a family]].]]
* RedBaron: [[spoiler: With her promotion to High Class Devil, she earns the nickname Double Holy Swords of Destruction.]]
* RunningGag: Tends to literally kick Issei out of bed when they ([[CantHaveSexEver again, literally]]) sleep together.
* SensualSpandex: Her church battle outfit.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Is shameless about wanting to have sex and reproduce with Issei, though it's also a bit of InnocentFanserviceGirl as she doesn't realize how suggestive it all sounds.
* SheKnowsTooMuch: She is excommunicated from the Church after learning that GodIsDead all along.
* ShootTheDog: She views killing Asia and Kiba as this, given how devils are considered enemies of the Church. Issei disagreed.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Xenovia or Zenobia? (It's actually Zenovia, as written in katakana since it is the modern form of Zenobia. However, since Xenovia is the most popular [[AscendedFanon within fan translations and the official subs]], it stuck and became official).
* TheStoic: She's a very calm, cool and collected warrior and almost shows no emotion on her face when she first appears.
* StudentCouncilPresident: This is the main reason why she wants to be a DumbassNoMore. She takes Sona's place when she graduates by the end of Volume 19. In ''EX'', Xenovia ups the ante by becoming a school headmistress.
* StuffBlowingUp: She blows up everything with her sword.
* TokenReligiousTeammate: Share this role with Asia. Being a demon or learning that GodIsDead didn't stop her from being religious at all. Her desire to reproduce is also seen by her as a way to obey God's command to be fruitful and have children to walk the Earth after his sacrifice.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the tomboy compared to Asia and Irina, and thus considers being a mother as a "womanly" goal to make up for being just a warrior to the long-dead God and to provide his world children in his absence.
* TomboyishVoice: In both Japanese and English dubs her normal voice is deeper and rougher than the majority of other girls her age, to represent how she has a much tougher and more masculine attitude compared to them. It also counts her for ContraltoOfStrength, since the rough deepness also represents well how she's a straightforward brute-force fighter compared to the more graceful combat styles of the other girls.
* TookALevelInKindness: She is introduced as a stoic and level-headed exorcist who is willing to uphold the Church's beliefs, even resorting to killing devils or heretics where necessary. Once she becomes a devil at the end of volume 3, Xenovia becomes a friendly and lovable goofball.
* TooManyBelts: Has multiple belts on her legs, arms, under her breasts, and wears one as ''underwear''. In one of the illustrator's artworks, she wears them ''[[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/highschooldxd/images/8/88/MJV-ART.ORG_-.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20120922173454 as a swimsuit!]]''
* UndyingLoyalty: Towards Issei, as she asks Issei to let her join his peerage when he becomes a High-Class Devil. [[spoiler:Which she does upon his promotion in Volume 22.]]
* UnskilledButStrong: The addition of Excalibur to her Durandal provides her with a wide range of abilities, but she doesn't know how to use most of them very well and generally sticks to brute force.
* VaporWear: Irina reveals that Xenovia doesn't have any undergarments in her uniform.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: She's apparently afraid of her swordmaster-turned-Angel, as shown in her short story.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: Just like Asia, Xenovia is unable to return to the Church due to her excommunication.

-->''"My name is Rossweisse. I will be under your care during our stay in Japan. Nice to meet you all."''

Rossweisse is a valkyrie who is a subordinate to her master, Odin. As it turns out, she hasn't gathered a single warrior for Ragnarok. After being abandoned by Odin, Rossweisse is reincarnated as a devil, joins the Occult Research Club as Rias's Rook and a second advisor, and becomes a civics teacher at Kuoh Academy. She is traded to Issei upon his promotion to High-Class Devil, making her Issei's first Rook.
----
* AccentSlipUp: She usually speaks in a polite register, but slips into a country accent when she's talking to her grandmother or embarrassed.
* AffectionateNickname: She is called Rose by her grandmother Gondul.
* ArrangedMarriage: In volume 24, [[spoiler: it is mentioned that her grandmother Gondul made a deal with the Asgardian top brass to marry her to one of the gods. Her groom-to-be? Vidarr, Odin's third son and current ruler of Asgard himself.]] Though given the ForegoneConclusion from ''EX'', Issei can call this off since [[spoiler:Vidar isn't interested in marrying her in the first place]].
* BabiesEverAfter: In the future, she has a daughter with Issei, named Helmwige.
* BadassInANiceSuit: She usually wears a black business suit as a civics teacher and is capable of moping the floor with other enemies.
* BadassTeacher: She is the civics teacher at Kuoh Academy from time to time.
* BarrierMaiden: Both in the literal and figurative sense, as [[spoiler: ''EX'' shows that she has completed her sealing technique first mentioned in Volume 17 which is capable of containing a God-Class being in a black spherical barrier. However, the seal is still not perfect and requires frequent reinforcing.]]
* BathtubBonding: She joins Issei in the male's bath at Sona's Rating Game School's Dormitory. She asks Issei to kill her if she is used by Euclid but he refused that, by saying he wouldn't hand her over and before she could give her reply [[MoodKiller Asia, Xenovia, Irina, Koneko and Ravel walk in]] and [[ClingyJealousGirl jump in when they see them together.]]
* BerserkButton:
** She is furious when Issei and Azazel suggest that her somewhat prudish ways are the reason that she doesn't have a boyfriend and almost fries the former with her magic for doing just that in volume 9.
** Destroying her clothes that she bought on sale, since she's very aware about the financial risks.
* BlatantLies: Asking Issei about his preferences and saying his opinion is an "example".
* BodyguardBabes: She serves as one to Odin up until the end of Volume 7.
* BodyguardingABadass: There should have been no reason why Odin needed her at all considering what he can do.
* BreastExpansion: Inverted like Rias when her breasts shrink [[spoiler:to power Issei's Nyuutron Beam Cannon against Thanatos]]. As with Rias, Issei sheds mournful tears despite the change being temporary.
* ButtMonkey: She doesn't have it quite as bad as Issei, but she still has her [[BerserkButton sore spot about lacking a boyfriend frequently brought up]], is implied to have financial struggles, joined Rias because [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness Odin abandoned her]], has [[ClothingDamage her jersey stripped off]] by Issei's [[FingerPokeOfDoom Dress Break]], and can't handle alcohol at all.
* CannotSpitItOut: When it comes to finding a boyfriend, she isn't completely honest about her feelings for Issei, at least until [[spoiler:Volume 25]].
* CantHoldHerLiquor: As opposed to Grayfia, one cup of sake leads to slurred speech, and two leaves her with a hangover, [[VomitDiscretionShot sufficiently non-detailed nausea]], [[AlcoholHic hiccups]] and a staggering stumble. After falling for Issei and getting engaged this causes her to become extremely lustful and seductive.
* CelibateHeroine: The reason she’s so far ahead academically compared to others of her age is that, unlike the other valkyries, she put romance to the side in favor of studying. She’s clearly regretting the results now, though. However, after falling for and becoming engaged to Issei, she has become more lustful.
* CoolTeacher: To the Devil children students of the Aurous Academy, who greatly liked her and her grandmother's magic lessons.
* ConflictingLoyalty: She has a brief moment of this in volume 22 between Issei and Rias when both of them are entering the Azazel Cup independently but Rias has her join Issei.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Being abandoned by Odin at the end of volume 7 gave Rossweisse the perfect opportunity to join the Occult Research Club.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: In the volume 7 finale, Rossweisse joins the Occult Research Club not only for financial reasons but also to essentially give a "screw you" to Odin, who abandoned her shortly after Loki's defeat.
* DrowningMySorrows: She's been drinking alcohol ever since she became Odin's bodyguard. Even after joining the MCs she still drinks on occasion which causes hilarity.
* ElementalPowers: She is very talented with elemental magic, using a variety of elements in battle.
* ExpressiveHair: [[DownplayedTrope Her two antennae at any rate, and only sometimes.]]
* FirstKiss: She shares her first kiss with Issei in Volume 25.
* HairAntennae: And unlike Akeno's, they express her feelings on rare occasions.
* HotForStudent: She becomes this after falling in love with Issei. She's only about a year older than him, though.
* HotTeacher: One of the teachers of Kuoh Academy despite being near Issei's age.
* InelegantBlubbering: She's prone to this whenever her lack of a boyfriend is brought up. It is later ended after she is engaged to Issei.
* InstantArmor: While it presumably doesn't have the same protective measures as Issei's Scale Mail, she has the ability to instantly switch out whatever she's wearing for her valkyrie armor.
* InstantRunes: She can make multiple magic circles in an instant, the anime shows them well during the battle with Loki where she makes a dozen in an instant.
* ItsPersonal: Her resentment of Odin is personal, because of how he abandoned her at the end of volume 7.
* LeotardOfPower: She wears a black leotard with her valkyrie armor when engaging in battle.
* LovableSexManiac: After she is engaged to Issei, rather than spiralling into sadness when she gets drunk, Rossweisse seems to direct her attention to Issei by clinging to him. She has risen to Akeno level, as seen in Shin Volume 3 after eating a brandy cake, she tries to seduce Issei and even ties him up to prevent him from escaping and she actually almost goes all the way... only to pass out at the last moment. Even after that, she continues to have dreams about making Issei the father to their children.
* MagicKnight: She wears armor like a knight, but her skill lies in her magic. Issei describes her as a "moving cannon" as a result of her being a wizard-type Rook.
* MagicWand: The Mistilteinn Wand, which is a legendary weapon of the Norse Gods, can enhance the user's magic. Rossweisse obtains one from the Grigori Governer; Shemhazai.
* MentorArchetype: She teaches as a civics professor at Kuoh Academy.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: Though it's bordering on SoLastSeason and EleventhHourSuperpower since the novels went into its final arc, she gets some much-needed firepower by obtaining [[spoiler:Mistleteinn, the famous weapon that killed Baldr in the original Norse myths]]. [[ArrangedMarriage There's a catch for that]].
* MysticalWhiteHair: Silver hair is befitting of a mystical valkyrie.
* NumberTwo: She serves as one of Odin's bodyguards until she gets abandoned in the volume 7 finale. Afterwards she typically becomes Azazel's whenever meetings for the allied forces occur, or when he needs to ditch schoolwork off on her.
* RandomlyGifted: PlayedWith. While Rossweisse was stated to lack talent at performing her family's signature magic, she did develop the ability to easily learn and master offensive-based magic.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: When Rossweisse becomes one of Kuoh Academy's civics teachers, she often gives out thoughtful advice to her students as well as Issei.
* ReluctantFanserviceGirl: She’s notable for being one of the more conservative girls in the Club. Even Koneko, who often snarks at and punishes Issei for his perversions, isn’t completely averse toward intimacy. She’s [[OhCrap mortified]] when Issei strips her with [[FingerPokeOfDoom Dress]] [[TheNudifier Break]] ([[SkewedPriorities though she’s more upset about the cost of replacing the clothes]]) and wears a ModestyTowel when the other girls happily go into baths naked with him, only sharing a proper nude bath with him once when she went over to the boys' side while the girls' side didn't have heat, mistakenly believing that nobody was there. She slowly grows out of this after falling for Issei.
* RescueRomance: She falls in love with Issei after he saves her from Euclid.
* RomanticFakeRealTurn: Rossweisse asked Issei to pretend to be her boyfriend in front of her grandmother; Gondul, because she lied about having a boyfriend. After Issei promises to keep her safe from Euclid and later saves her from him, she truly falls in love with him as her grandmother entrusts her to Issei.
* SemiDivine: Valkyries are regarded as Half-Gods.
* TheScrooge: She tries to save money as much as possible, preferring to shop in 100-yen shops, and her first complaint when Issei's Dress Break destroys her clothes is about what it'll cost her to replace them.
* SenseiChan: Attractive? Check. Only a couple of years older than her students? Check. Still unmarried? Check. Has some quirks that make her act more childish than she should be? Check.
* ShoutOutThemeNaming: Rossweisse and Helmwige are the names of some of the Valkyries featured in Richard Wagner's ''[[Theatre/TheRingOfTheNibelung Der Ring des Nibelungen]]''.
* SkewedPriorities: When fighting Issei in Volume 9 to prevent him from peeping on the girls in his class, Issei manages to end the fight with his [[FingerPokeOfDoom Dress]] [[TheNudifier Break]]. She gets upset... because the clothes she was wearing at the time had been on sale and will cost more to replace. It's a moment later that [[DelayedOhCrap she]] ''[[DelayedOhCrap suddenly]]'' [[DelayedOhCrap realizes that]] [[ClothingDamage she's been stripped naked]], much to Issei's confusion.
* StatuesqueStunner: Not only does she stand at 173 cm/5'8[=''=] tall, but she's one of the club's attractive female characters in the series.
* SupernaturalSealing: Rossweise is an expert at Sealing Magic from studying it to find a way to seal the 666. She can use it in combat to seal her enemies with powerful magic seals. Her sealing barrier is effective even against Armaros, the Grigori anti-magic specialist, if she has enough time to prepare it.
* SurpassedTheTeacher: She achieves this after defeating the senior Valkyrie who taught her; Brynhildr.
* {{Valkyries}}: She is introduced as Odin's bodyguard, and apparently holds the record for the longest time accompanying him.
* WomanScorned: Given how Odin abandoned her at the end of volume 7, she loses her cool whenever she sees him afterwards.
* {{Yandere}}: At least according to Issei's description of her after chasing down Odin in Volume 10.
* YankTheDogsChain: After volume 7, she gets abandoned by Odin and suffers a HeroicBSOD.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Odin abandons her towards the end of Volume 7, which leads to Rossweisse joining the Occult Research Club and reincarnating as Rias' second Rook.
* YoungerThanSheLooks: Looks and acts like a mature person, but is only around the group's age.

'''Species:''' Pure Devil\
'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AsukaNishi (Japanese), Creator/BrittneyKarbowski (English)[[labelnote:Foreign [=VAs=]]]Creator/SarahAlles (German, 2014), Creator/AliceBauer (German, 2016-present)[[/labelnote]]

Ravel Phenex is the only daughter in the Phenex family who serves in her brother Riser's peerage as his Bishop and participated in the Rating Game against the Gremory family. Following Riser's defeat, she becomes a free bishop. Eventually, she becomes a first-year transfer student at Kuoh Academy and joins the Occult Research Club. Following the success of Issei's television series, she becomes his manager in the Underworld. After Issei's promotion to High Class Devil, she is traded to him by Lady Phenex, making her Issei's second Bishop.
----
* AnimalJingoism: She has a bird motif, while Koneko has a cat motif; the two don't get along well given their battle at Riser's Rating Game.
* AnimalMotifs: The phoenix, which fits her surname.
* BabiesEverAfter: In the future, she has a daughter with Issei, named Robertina.
* BadassCape: Wears a long purple cape as part of her uniform while competing in the Azazel cup.
* BathtubBonding: She walks in on Issei bathing and joins him in Volume 14. At first, Issei is worried that it will be a repeat of the infamous Hot-springs encounter from the Volume 13 short stories until she starts trying to be intimate with him. Unfortunately for both of them, [[MoodKiller Ophis had other ideas.]]
* BigBrotherWorship: She believes that her brother is so powerful, no one could ever possibly defeat him. Until Issei does in Volume 2.
* TheBusCameBack: She is mostly absent following Riser's defeat, aside from sporadic appearances during the Grabbin' Dragon campaign and the Young Devils Gathering. By Volume 10, she transfers to Kuoh Academy and becomes a major character in her own right.
* BustContrastDuo: She is more busty in comparison to Koneko, who suffers from ACupAngst.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She gets jealous when Koneko is sitting on Issei's lap. She also shows generally on occasion.
* CombatPragmatist: In Ratings Games. Unlike most Devils (including her own brother) who fight with some amount of honor in the spirit of the thing, Ravel is absolutely ruthless in pursuit of victory. Demonstrated in the Rating Game between Issei and Sona in volume DX 4/23.5, where [[spoiler:she nukes Sona's side of the field right out of the gate to deny them any cover or terrain advantage, takes out Tsubaki by exploiting her YaoiFangirl streak, and then - having completely stripped Sona's team of any defensive options - allows Issei and Grayfia to run roughshod over their helpless opposition. It's such a crushing victory Ravel would have gained more points than Sona even if she'd sniped.]]
* DamselInDistress: She gets captured along with Koneko and Gasper when the Khaos Brigade launches yet another assault on Kuoh Academy.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Volume 14 spends time on Ravel finding Issei a wizard to form a contract with, as well as dealing with a rogue group of magicians that have been manufacturing illicit Phenex tears to sell on the black market.
* FanservicePack: Some illustrations of her either depict her flat-chested or with breasts nearly the same size as Asia's (pictured above), with the most case being an illustration in Volume 14. The [[WordOfGod Official Data Book]] later has it that her chest is actually 2 cm/0.79[=''=] below Xenovia's, and that her shifting sizes were due to artist error.
* HairAntennae: Like Akeno, she has an antenna that slopes backwards, rather than forwards.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: A young, pretty and well-mannered {{Ojou}}.
* HeroWorshipper:
** She originally was this to her big brother Riser, thinking that no one was strong enough to defeat him. Though she later starts to acknowledge his faults.
** She later becomes this to Issei, due to falling in love with him and wanting to be his servant, as he reminds her of the heroes that appeared in the stories that her butler told her.
* HiddenDepths: Seems spoiled and shallow at first, but she's actually a very organized, intelligent, clear-headed girl who is a talented baker, with an eidetic memory.
* HonestCorporateExecutive: After volume 11, she becomes a successful business manager for Issei.
* {{Irony}}: She mocks Issei when they first encountered each other, stating that Rias has bad taste in men given her adoration of Issei. Ironically, Ravel falls in love with Issei herself and make arrangements to become his servant and manager.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: When Issei and Riser's EngagementChallenge is finished, she decides to take her injured brother and leave the battlefield.
* MaliciousMisnaming: When Issei meets Ravel after defeating Riser, he calls her "the fried chicken's little sister." Then, Koneko calls her a "fried chicken princess." Understandably, she gets annoyed.
* MentorArchetype: She becomes Issei's manager and eventually [[spoiler:his mentor in his peerage, as well as his second in command]].
* TheNapoleon: She may be 153 cm/5'0[=''=], but she is not someone you want to screw around with.
* NoblewomansLaugh: She laughs briefly in chapter 20 of the manga, complete with the pose, only for Issei to walk past her to her frustration.
* NumberTwo: Ravel serves as Issei's loyal second in command due to her experience and personality and because Ingvild doesn't have much experience as a Queen.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: Ravel is mentioned wiping out waves of evil dragons in the defense of the Norse territories in volume 21.
* {{Ojou}}: To be expected of the only daughter of the Phenex family.
* OneHeadTaller: With Issei, who is 170 cm/5'7[=''=], while she's only 153 cm/5'0[=''=].
* PlayingWithFire: Uses powerful flamethrowers against evil dragons in Volume 21.
* PowerGivesYouWings: Like Riser, she also has the ability to sprout HotWings.
* ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming: Her surname comes from the 37th of the 72 demons of the Literature/ArsGoetia, which is, as its name implies, a phoenix.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: While Ravel was initially a bit shy about being in erotic situations with Issei, she later becomes far more comfortable with them after he returns from his "death".
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer: She doesn't appear in the first teasers of ''Hero'', given that the second half of the season adapts volume 10, where she has a major role.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: The only female child of the Phenex family.
* TheStrategist: She is the strategist for Issei's peerage and his Azazel Cup team.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Ravel greatly resembles her mother Lady Phenex with her blonde hair, blue eyes and calm personality.
* SupremeChef: She can bake cakes just fine.
* SweetTooth: Like Koneko, Ravel has a fondness for eating and making cakes.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The contrast between Koneko and her. Ravel is a feminine noble girl, who is good at a variety of things such as cooking, and fights as LongRangeFighter, compared to Koneko; who is a tomboyish orphan who fights as a CloseRangeCombatant.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: In volume 2, she underestimates how Issei can defeat Riser and is proven wrong.
* UndyingLoyalty: She wants to eventually become a Bishop under Issei. [[spoiler:She finally does after he becomes a High-Class Devil in Volume 22.]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Koneko, via AnimalJingoism.

Ingvild Leviathan is a descendant of the original Leviathan and possessor of Nereid Kyrie, one of the several Sacred Gear reclassified as Longinus level. Although she was left in a coma for over 100 years because of the same disease Sairaorg's mother had, she reawakens by the time of the Azazel Cup. She later becomes Issei's Queen.

* TheBeastmaster: One of the main aspects of Nereid Kyrie (Also known as Poem of Endless Green Sea) is its ability to control dragons, which Ingvild can use to direct Issei and give him an additional power boost.
* {{Brainwashed}}: Nyx put a complex spell on her to weaponise her voice on dragons like Issei, Vali and Crom who would pose a threat to the Gods of Hell.
* BornWinner: She, like Vali, qualifies due to being born with both immense demonic power due to her Leviathan heritage, as well as having a Longinus.
* BrownNote: Nereid Kyrie can drain the stamina of any dragon who hears her voice, including Ddraig's from within Issei's Sacred Gear (Issei himself is also affected as he's a DraconicHumanoid). It's suspected that it could even weaken Ophis and Great Red.
* CombatPragmatist: PlayedForLaughs. Ingvild [[KilledMidSentence kills a group of Artificial Devils]] while they were EvilGloating.
* ConvenientComa: She has been in one for 100 years, caused by the same disease that Misla Bael had.
* DamselInDistress: She gets mind-controlled by Nyx, who hopes to exploit her due to the power of her Longinus. Issei can save her by defeating Nyx.
* DistaffCounterpart: Issei notes her as a female counterpart of his rival Vali Lucifer, with both being half-human/devil descendants of the original Satan clans, in addition to possessing Longinus Sacred Gears.
* FishOutOfTemporalWater: Having awoken from a 100-year coma, Ingvild gets stuck in a world where everyone she knew is dead.
* TheGift: She is noted by Issei to have the same level of talent as Vali, being able to rapidly improve her abilities in a short amount of time.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Half-human, half-devil, her devil heritage comes from the Leviathan Clan.
* HowDoIShotWeb: Upon becoming Issei's Queen, she sprouts eight wings like Vali... and asks how to put them away.

* InstantExpert: Ingvild shows instant progress in using her demonic power and magic after being taught by Rossweisse, with her specializing in water manipulation due to her Leviathan heritage.
* LastOfHerKind: Ingvild was in a coma for 100 years, and thus escaped the Occult Research Club's battle with Katerea Leviathan. By the time of ''Shin High School D×D'', Ingvild's the last living descendant of the original Leviathan.
* MakingASplash: Neried Kyrie allows Ingvild dominion over the seas. She’s inherently good at water magic thanks to her Leviathan heritage.
* MysteriousWaif: She’s introduced as an enchanting singer with a somewhat spaced-out personality and a vague background. Later, she’s revealed to be a distant descendant of the original Leviathan and possess one of the new Longinus, for which Hades’ alliance is taking advantage of her.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: She's named after the famous Norwegian actress Ingvild Deila.
* OlderThanTheyLook: She looks 17 but is 117.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: The cover for ''DX.7'' reveals that she wears a pair of purple tights as part of her Kuoh Academy uniform.
* ReluctantFanserviceGirl: She hovers between this and InnocentFanserviceGirl as her reaction to seeing Issei, Akeno and Koneko naked in a compromising position was to wonder if she should get naked while feeling a bit embarrassed about it.
* StatusBuff: Ingvild's Longinus can be used to strengthen Dragons though it is noted that she can only strengthen them by a small degree due to being IncompletelyTrained.
* {{Sleepyhead}}: This is a lingering effect from the disease she had. Ingvild has a hard time staying awake, even falling asleep during class and at work.
* UnskilledButStrong: Fresh out of a 100-year coma, still narcoleptic, and learning the basics of a Devil's duties under her King Issei, yet she already boasts Satan-class aura in addition to her Longinus. She is also a descendant of the original Leviathan.
* WalkingSpoiler: As she debuts in ''Literature/ShinHighSchoolDXD'', her existence spoils not only the fact that there is a {{Sequel}}, but also that Issei has become a High-Class Devil and amassed a Peerage of his own with her as his Queen.
