!Playable Characters

* DysfunctionJunction: Nearly everyone's got some issues, just to varying degrees (especially if you check the original Black Survival logs on them). Delusion, amnesia, obsessions, being RaisedByWolves, inferiority complexes, mental trauma, or full-blown sadism - it doesn't seem like the Aglaia experiment is really looking for mere Nice Guys to gather data on, though some of the subjects might qualify.
* ExplosiveLeash: All of the Test Subjects are forced to wear a Regeneration Cuff that contains a bomb inside. It cannot be removed, and if a Test Subject stays in a restricted area for too long, the bomb will go off, instantly killing them.
* HyperactiveMetabolism: Food and drinks are able to quickly heal the Test Subjects to varying degrees, and resting allows them to quickly recover as well. This is partially attributed to the Regeneration Cuffs that are strapped to each of them.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: After the results of each experiment, the memories of said experiment are wiped from each of the Test Subjects. A few, such as Jackie, are immune to this.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Some of the characters are absolutely horrified when they get their first kill, and become even more distressed with subsequent kills.
* MysteriousPast: All of the test subjects are this to some degree due to how their "backstories" are written.
* TheNeedsOfTheMany: This is the justification for Aglaia's experiments; according to the limited backstory of Black Survival, if Aglaia's experiments stop or do not yield the desired results, humanity will face extinction.
* NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent: Despite the test subjects coming from all over the world, rarely are their voiceovers ever indicative of an accent from that part of the world.
* RagtagBandOfMisfits: Each of them is unique in their own way and was pulled/abducted from their lives to become part of Aglaia's experiments. The "band" part, however, doesn't fully apply since they're normally pitted against one another in last-one-standing battles, though it can apply during Duo and Squad matches.
* RummageSaleReject: Some of the Test Subjects can definitely qualify as this, such as Cathy, Nicky, Echion, etc.
* UnreliableNarrator: In a sense. All of the Test Subjects' descriptions come as scientist-written short dossiers rather than fleshed out backstories, and quite a few details are either mixed up, missing, or highly opinionated. This is due to the various data logs that are found in the original Black Survival, which do more to flesh out each character. However, it has also been noted by the developers that the lore between the two games is supposed to be different in some respects (i.e. Rozzi is not missing her right eye).
* WrenchWhack: Every character does this when building items, regardless if they have any sort of mechanical knowhow in their backstories. Yes, even Irem when she is transformed into a cat and is clearly (what should be) uselessly batting at the tools in front of her.

----
* AffectionateNickname: She appears to be fond of Dr. Nadja and refers to her as "Dr. Nady".
* DramaPreservingHandicap: Considering Abigail's abilities to cut and move through space and dimensions, one would reason that she should be able to find a way to escape the island. As it turns out, she doesn't only because she chooses not to.
* FlashStep: Abigail can blink next to a target enemy with her E. The cooldown on it is immediately reset if the enemy was first struck by her W or R.
* ShoutOut: Abigail's scythe, cape, and FlashStep playstyle have been likened to Ruby Rose.
* SinisterScythe: Abigail wields a scythe in combat.Mechanics-wise, she is an Axe user.

->"Why even try? My victory is assured."

A world chess grandmaster, what lies in front of Adela is only victory.

"Defeat" simply doesn't exist in her vocabulary. She's always at least one step ahead of her enemies - more often two or three.

Outside of chess, she takes things frustratingly slow and sometimes. When the game starts, however, she concentrates fully, maneuvering the chess board with grace.

She challenges herself to think and enjoys the thrill of winning with her precise and calculating strategy.
----
* Combos: Adela's chess pieces interact with each other in various ways. Her Knight Fork causes any other chess pieces it hits to be pushed away, damaging and knocking airborne any enemies they collide with. Her ultimate, Checkmate, also deals more damage based on how many chess pieces are in its area-of-effect.
* CompetitionFreak: Adela's compulsive competitiveness has her always accept any challenge and treat all opponents equally, whether they are total rookies or pros.
* DeathFromAbove: Several of Adela's abilities cause either her chess pieces or herself to come crashing down on her enemies from above.
* DifficultButAwesome: Adela's kit is tough to master, given that she needs to properly place her chess pieces and combo them to get the most out of them. When mastered, however, she can do a lot of damage and crowd control, baiting enemies into overcommitting to engaging her and then finishing them off with a well-timed Checkmate.
* FinishingMove: Checkmate is optimally meant to be used this way, dealing more damage when it includes multiple chess pieces in its effect. However, it is also one of Adela's means of avoiding a nasty hit.
* NoSuchThingAsSpaceJesus: Adela doesn't believe in any sort of superstitions, and thinks people who do are idiots.
* TheChessmaster: Obviously, given her backstory and her abilities being centered around chess pieces.

->"Fate comes secondary to our determination."
Adina is a kindhearted girl wielding a powerful talent. The ability of infallible foresight is not just her greatest gift; it's also a terrible curse. She used to tell fortunes in a cafe when the shop wasn't busy, and soon became notorious for the terrifying accuracy of her readings.

The voice of Adina's late friend, manifested by the crystal ball, tells her that she'll achieve great things on Lumia Island. Adina now awaits arrival onto Lumia Island, hoping that under the starry night sky, she'll get to see the futures of every single test subject.
----
* Astrologer: Adina's title and occupation are this. Astrology also plays a big theme in her gameplay.
* Combos: Adina's entire kit relies on combinations of her astral signs to produce different effects for her basic abilities.
* DifficultButAwesome: Adina's mechanics are extremely complex due to how her abilities greatly differ based on the astral signs she has available to her. She approaches Invoker levels of complexity due to how her kit works, but this also makes her incredibly versatile, giving her answers to many different situations and opponents.
* FairytaleWeddingDress: Adina is wearing one in an upcoming skin.
* HealThySelf: Adina can accomplish this with her E when using the correct astral signs. She can also use her E to generate a field that heals her and her allies over time.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Hers is white and she is an Arcana user.
* SquishyWizard: Adina has a lot of versatility and can dish out plenty of damage, but she can't really take it.

->"It's kinda chilly... Where'd I put that match?"

Where there's smoke, there's fire... and Adriana. She gained infamy after widespread arson cases popped up throughout Mexico, striking fear into the hearts of its citizens.

She'll engulf empty buildings in flames and turn abandoned factories to ash, all while keeping her pipe comfortably in her mouth.

She's often heard speaking to the empty sky above or calling someone's name. Who's she talking to?
----
* Combos: Her Oil Slicks provide a useful slowing effect on their own, but the real point of them is for the rest of her skills to light them and enemies standing on them on fire. The open flames they cause, in addition to Molotov Cocktails and Fire Escape, also help corral enemies into a predictable direction so Adriana can keep Flamethrower trained on someone.
* DeathByAThousandCuts: Most of Adriana's kit revolves around dealing damage-over-time effects rather than burst damage.
* DifficultButAwesome: Adriana's kit relies on damage-over-time effects and proper placement of her oil slicks and molotovs to get the most out of her damage. She's considerably harder to use in one-on-one fights because she can't actually force most opponents to sit in her fire and would need a frontline ally to pin the enemy in place. At the pro level, however, she's capable of a lot of damage while being able to kite opponents constantly.
* FieryRedhead: Could it be more obvious?
* FireBreathingWeapon: Her main damage ability is her flamethrower.
* HitAndRunTactics: Adriana's playstyle best suits this, using her oil slicks and flames to kite her enemies and chip them down over time.
* ImColdSoCold: Besides having lines in-game that say this, Adriana's fixation on fire stems from a childhood incident when she and her sister Lily were trapped inside a meat locker. By the time she was discovered, Lily had already frozen to death.
* LaughingMad: She's liable to maniacally laugh while she's bringing about blazes.
* KillItWithFire: Her abilities are all fire-based.
* MolotovCocktail: This serves as her ultimate ability. She gets three charges of them to hurl.
* MyGreatestFailure: Adriana blames herself for her sister Lily's death, so much so that it's resulted in her becoming schizophrenic and either hallucinating or deluding herself that her sister is still alive and right nearby her.
* PlayingWithFire: See above. She loves to burn things.
* Pyromaniac: This is Adriana's whole schtick. Her love of fire is a response to the trauma of her sister freezing to death nearby her while she continues to believe that her sister Lily is still alive and nearby her, so she constantly lights fire to warm "Lily" up.
* TheMentallyDisturbed: Data logs from Black Survival as well as Adriana's voice lines show she has a textbook case of schizophrenia due to the death of her sister, Lily, when she was young. This is on top of her being an arsonist.

->"Life is not meant to be easy for everyone."
A mercenary with no past, Aiden went missing 8 years ago after an attempt to recruit him to the experiment which resulted in the death of 3 of his agents.

Records indicating that he had been working as a mercenary were found, but the details of his activities were either missing or redacted.

The limited information that we were able to unearth about Aiden merely states that every member the team he led came back alive from each mission.
----
* GatheringSteam: He has to charge up (no like, literally, it's called Overcharged when it's ready) by hitting his skills or his ultimate's first strike and then being far away enough from any enemies. Being Overcharged makes him able to use Volt Cannon in addition to making his basic attacks ranged and automatically critically-striking at the cost of some critical strike damage and attack speed. Each attack and use of Volt Cannon will consume one of his five bullets given from being Overcharged.
* HiredGuns: Aiden is specifically labelled as a mercenary.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: Aiden's weapon is a gunblade, though he categorizes as a two-handed sword user.
* ShockAndAwe: His VF powers revolve around electricity.

->"Looking at the past, you can see the future."

Alex is fluent in 6 languages and has experience handling all weapons.

He likes to play Tetris. He looks frail but has outstanding physical ability.

No further information available.
----
* DeathFromAbove: Alex's ultimate drops an EMP missile down from above.
* DifficultButAwesome: Alex's kit relies on swapping between various weapons and two different states, meaning the player needs to build multiple weapons and know how to flow between them correctly to get the most out of him. This gives him exceptional versatility, but makes it very easy to mess up with him or fall behind if he gets starved of resources.
* JackOfAllTrades: Due to the versatility of his kit, he fits this trope. However, he needs to leverage this to gain an advantage against most opponents.
* MasterOfNone: While he has exceptional versatility, other characters tend to outclass him at dedicated roles or have tools he doesn't get.
* MultiMeleeMaster: Alex can use four different weapon types at once, and their mastery is raised simultaneously regardless of which one he uses.

----
* AdventurerArchaeologist: Arda is an archaeologist by trade, and he's more than capable of fighting the other Test Subjects.

[[caption-width-right:350:Criminals? Where?!]]
->"For my light, for my justice."

Aya was born with an innate longing for justice, and employed this longing to become a police officer. However, her world and confidence in her job was shaken after her family were victims of a murder case. She became obsessed with her vision of justice - beginning to think that only she was able to bring justice to the world.

Aya grew repulsed at the sight of corpses. When her job requires the occasional inspection of an animal corpse, it takes a toll on her psyche.

She has a brother named Suzuki Hikaru, who lost both of his legs.
----
* BespectacledCutie: If the first sight of her doesn’t make you think this, her declaring "Bang! Bang!" or "Pew! Pew!" when using Double Shot will certainly convince you.
* BoringButPractical: Most of Aya's kit is very easy to learn and doesn't have too many strings attached to it. That said, she's still entirely functional and can compete at just about any level in the right hands.
* CrutchCharacter: When using a Sniper Rifle, Aya can be a very strong early bully thanks to her ranged poke, letting her contest early rare materials without too much risk. If she doesn't use this to get ahead early, though, she'll be an easy kill for anyone who can catch her.
* FairCop: She definitely fits the trope, being a good natured police officer (even if she can get carried away).
* ForgetfulJones: She often leaves her handcuffs and/or gun lying around due to her forgetfulness.
* GlassCannon: Aya is able to do a lot of damage, but can't take much even with her trait's shield, which doesn't last long and has a lengthy cooldown unless she's using assault rifles to speed up the cooldown.
* GirlishPigtails: She wears her hair like this. She keeps the hairstyle in nearly all of her skins in the original Black Survival, and this trend continues into Eternal Return.
* HiddenBuxom: It may be hard to notice at times due to her conservative wardrobe (at least in her normal skin), but Aya's among the bustiest girls the roster so far, rivalling Jenny and Sua due to her relatively small body size (which makes her boobs look even bigger). Her police officer skin and especially her Midsummer Night skin makes it more apparent. She's also one of the only characters so far whose breasts jiggle, with it being far more visible in her Midsummer Night skin.
* KimonoFanservice: Aya's Midsummer Night skin features a kimono that leaves her enormous cleavage on display and reaches just low enough to avoid a PantyShot. Her breasts also jiggle while wearing it (though not during gameplay).
* NervousWreck: It's toned down in-game, but her bio and data logs claim she panics very easily.
* NoSenseOfDirection: Her skins and data logs joke at how she frequently gets herself lost.
* SkillGateCharacters: Sniper Aya can be difficult for inexperienced players to deal with due to her annoying long-range poke and disengage, making it hard for newer players to contest special materials (i.e. Tree of Life, Meteorites). However, against more experienced players, Sniper Aya is far less of a pain, especially since experienced players will know when they simply should not contest her over a material.
* TraumaButton: Corpses tend to unnerve her, according to her bio and data logs.
* WrongLineOfWork: With a terrible sense of direction, a nervous disposition and suffering from necrophobia, it's frankly amazing she managed to hold onto her police officer job before she ended up on Lumia Island.

->"You can't even comprehend the sheer brilliance of my invention!"

Growing up, Barbara always dreamt of becoming an engineer, but her family pressured her into medical school.

Her parents both passed away shortly after - and without anyone to interfere, she focused on her inventions for the next 15 years.

Right on the cusp of completion, Barbara's funding was cut, leaving her robot incomplete. Truthfully, she longs for the recognition of others - even the tiniest of praise has her beaming.

These days, she's out of touch and lacks a strong sense of reality.

Locking yourself away for a decade and a half will tend to do that to you...
----
* AchillesHeel: A lot of Barbara's kit revolves around her turret, so taking it out can leave her quite vulnerable.
* AttentionWhore: Barbara's bio and data logs qualify her for this. She desires any kind of praise from anyone for her creations.
* BeamSpam: Using Overclock with Free-Electron Laser makes the skill have a 0.35 second cooldown for the next seven seconds. Perfect usage of it would theoretically let her belt out 40 laser beams in those seven seconds.
* TheTurretMaster: Her kit revolves around the turrets she makes.
* WrenchWench: She's the engineer of the bunch, despite that everyone in Eternal Return can craft stuff.

->"I only hunt the true beasts."

Bernice lives off the grid. He hunts and takes care of his livestock to make ends meet.

Occasionally he deals with predators that might harm the intermittent traveler or expel illegal poachers.

In his younger days, he fell for a woman that was already engaged - but to avoid rumors and to protect her reputation, he left his humble village.

Bernice doesn't drink, it causes him to lose focus, but he does enjoy smoking on occasion. Although he denies it, he definitely hunted a fellow human once.
----
* BearTrap: What his Foothold Traps look like, as they are properly named. Animal or humanity cruelty is probably not much of a concern for a man whose in a BattleRoyaleGame.
* BoringButPractical: Bernice's kit isn't very flashy and doesn't have a lot of outplay potential to it, but he's still entirely functional. That said, he does end up being a stat-check character most of the time due to his simplicity. This usually results in him being able to bully others in early-game scenarios, something he needs to do to avoid falling behind and getting outgunned later on.
* CooldownManipulation: Bernice landing basic attacks on enemies that are marked by him reduce the cooldown of Leg Shot by half a second and the cooldown of Explosive Bola by a second. He can mark enemies by activating Falconry while enemies are nearby the activation area or having them stand on one of his Foothold Traps.
* Combos: Leg Shot does extra damage and slows longer against enemies that are rooted, and both his Foothold Traps and Explosive Bola roots enemies. Foothold Traps only take a second to set up after placing them, so even if his enemies don't run onto them, it's possible for Bernice to place one on an enemy that was rooted by Explosive Bola and then have it activate on them.
* CoolOldGuy: Before Isaac and Martina were introduced, Bernice was the oldest playable Test Subject, at age 42. He's still much older than most of the roster.
* CrutchCharacter: Bernice can bully his enemies fairly early when played right, but his lackluster durability means he needs to use his early power to gain a strong lead, or he'll otherwise be fairly easy to take out later on.
* ShortRangeShotgun: - his shotgun will deal extra damage at closer ranges so that all of the linear shots fired out of his gun hits the target, but it's not a vital bonus, he'll still hurt plenty to be shot by from his maximum range. Well, relatively about as much as other guns hurt in this game, at least.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter: He's the only character in the game at present to use a shotgun. He categorizes as a Sniper Rifle user in-game.
* SkillGateCharacters: Bernice's kit usually revolves on him trying to ambush and overpower his opponents early on. New players can often fall victim to this, but experienced players are much harder for Bernice to take out, especially if they anticipate and dodge his ultimate.
* TakingTheBullet: Due to his basic attacks firing off linear shots from him that then impact into enemies, it's possible for his basic attacks' damage to be taken instead by an enemy that's directly between him and the target behind them.
* TheTeetotaler: His bio states he is this, but this doesn't have any effect on gameplay. Of course, at the same time, no alcoholic drinks in the game actually have anything resembling an IntoxicationMechanic.
* TrapMaster: While not to the same degree as Isol, Bernice's Foothold Trap pairs well with his Explosive Bola and can be used with crafted traps to zone his opponents and create killing zones.

->"I can't wait to taste your blood."
Bianca considers herself the true queen of the vampires.

She always has her parasol on hand, claiming that direct sunlight burns her skin. Her wardrobe consists purely of gothic attire and she has a vocabulary to that of an old dignitary.

Everyone around her, including her family, thought that she was merely role-playing.

One day, however, she disappeared without a trace - leaving behind a handful of mysteriously sourced blood bags and a note stating that she wouldn't be able to return home for a while.
----
* AchillesHeel: Because of Bianca's health costs on her abilities and her spells' vampiric effects, she is especially vulnerable to having her healing reduced by the enemy. Additionally, her W may cause Bianca to take drastically reduced damage and heal herself, but it's vulnerable to interrupts such as silences and stuns, which will prematurely end the effect.
* AntiquatedLinguistics: Bianca's in-game dialogue and her bio qualify her for this trope.
* BloodMagic: Bianca's attacks and VF powers are more-or-less this.
* CastFromHitPoints: Most of Bianca's abilities cost a percentage of her current health.
* Chuunibyou: Bianca's definitely got it in her head that she's "the Vampire Queen", though she's not actually a vampire.
* DifficultButAwesome: Bianca's high health costs for her abilities mean she has to land her attacks to recover what she spends, or she'll leave herself much easier for her enemies to take down. Additionally, her W requires her to become stationary, and its effect can be prematurely ended by interrupts (i.e. silences, stuns, etc). If she uses her abilities correctly, though, she can be deceptively hard to take down and can trick enemies into diving right into her ultimate, which grounds enemies during its second half.
* ElegantGothicLolita: She dresses in this fashion and thinks herself "the Vampire Queen".
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: She clearly thinks she's one, she drinks blood, and she has some vampire-like powers, but she doesn't burn up in sunlight (she just thinks she will).
* WeaksauceWeakness: Story-only. She once recoiled in pain after Johann sprayed her with water, thinking it was holy water. The scientists also note that taking away her parasol is an easy way to disarm her.

->"The pure beauty of a flower is nothing compared to you."

An astounding flamenco dancer, Camilo always commands attention the moment he walks into the room.
His captivating beauty is rivaled only by his dance talent.
Camilo is well aware of this exceptional beauty and talent and relishes basking in the attention he gets.

A bit of a narcissist, Camilo is always brutally honest and doesn't particularly care to empathize with the pain or sorrow of those around him.
He is seemingly always carrying a rose, except nobody knows where he even got it from.

Though fluent in English, he likes to sprinkle his favorite Spanish words into conversation.
----
* CasanovaWannabe: His bio and data logs definitely have him fit the trope.
* Combos: Using Vuelta normally requires Camilo to have enough distance from a target to gain Paso from it, but using Vuelta right after Al Compás will cause Vuelta to instead simply hit all around Camilo as if he hit enemies from the normal version's edge. Using Al Compás a second time on an enemy who has Al Compás' One-Step on them also causes Camilo to knock them back to such a distance that the target will be positioned for Camilo to land Vuelta's edge on them. It's also easy to have an enemy positioned to hit the edge of Vuelta if they've been stunned by Duende.
* CooldownManipulation: Every time he uses a skill after a basic attack and vice-versa, he reduces the cooldown of his passive's shield Olé! and Cierre. Vuelta also gains cooldown reduction differently - its cooldown instead gets lower from Camilo having more attack speed.
* DanceBattler: He's a flamenco dancer who dual-wields swords in battle.
* DashAttack: It's shorter to list which of Camilo's abilities in-game do not function like this - Vuelta and Olé! are the exceptions.
* LightningBruiser: Camilo has a lot of mobility and sustain, and he can dish out considerable amounts of damage.
* Narcissist: Fits this to a tee, as shown by his bio and in-game lines. Unsurprisingly, his animation for resting has him pull out a mirror to stare at himself.
* PoirotSpeak: Pretty much explicitly mentioned in his biography, and also happens a few times in-game. Indeed, he'll do this the moment a player first selects him.

->"I've grown used to blood and corpses."

Cathy is often kind and sentimental doctor - perhaps a little too much so.

Time and again, she grew too attached to her patients, ultimately causing her to lose her job due to several malpractice cases - all stemming from her ""sympathy"".

She opened up her very own free medical clinic, supported by the locals just enough for her to get by.

Those that do visit her clinic are all aware of her kindness, but are also aware of her peculiarity.

If they come down with something more serious, they tend to skip Cathy's clinic and visit a bigger hospital.
----
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Between her, Jan, Zahir and Priya, she's one of the few dark-skinned characters in the game so far.Cathy's nationality is Canadian.
* ArtisticLicenseMedicine: There may be doctors of many different skill-levels all over the world, but one that lacks common sense of enough that it's gotten people killed? Yeah, someone like Cathy probably wouldn't have ever held onto their medical license or even gotten it in the first place. Even running a clinic for free and depending heavily on charity to keep it and herself going is probably stretching it (not to mention that it'd surely be illegal for her to continue practicing considering she's a surgeon that's been charged repeatedly for malpractice).
* CleavageWindow: Cathy's got one in her blue sweater for her ample assets.
* CombatMedic: Her Combat Medic Cathy skin is this.
* CombatStilettos: Wears these to a battle royale. In fairness, that was probably what she was wearing frequently in her medical clinic, but she Ninja Runs in them without issue now all the same.
* Combos: It's fairly easy to sidestep Emergency Surgery, so Cathy will likely need the slow from Amputation or the root/stun from Suture to help ensure it will land on an enemy - and for that matter, Amputation and Suture both are pretty helpful to help land the other ability. She will also require successfully landing at least two of her basic abilities (and then an enhanced basic attack or a third basic ability) to hope to benefit from her passive without landing Emergency Surgery, and indeed, she can benefit from the bonus movement speed, shield and CooldownManipulation to Double Bypass from her passive twice in quick succession by first using her basic abilities to activate Severely Wounded and then landing Emergency Surgery.
* CooldownManipulation: When Cathy inflicts Severely Wounded onto a target, her Double Bypass skill has its cooldown reduced by almost half. This allows her to pretty much reset Double Bypass's cooldown entirely by inflicting Severely Wounded with her passive and basic abilities onto a target and then using her ultimate Emergency Surgery on someone to inflict Severely Wounded again.
* DashAttack: Cathy's Double Bypass and Emergency Surgery are this.
* DeadlyDoctor: She can kill people just as efficiently as she can patch them up, but she often does more harm than good. Indeed, she's only capable of healing allies in combat by using her simultaneously-FinishingMove ultimate for the task.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: Cathy is a doctor that even has a passive in her ultimate to create a healing zone after she revives allies, but ironically she's not very good at healing allies in combat compared to plenty of other characters like Johann or Adina. This fits with her medical training that followed real-life logic where a medic can not hope fully fix someone up without extensive work and time on them, so her thought-process is the same even with VF empowering her and the Emergency Surgery ultimate is her only attempt to heal allies which is reserved for, well, emergencies.
* HealingHands: - she can heal allies from Emergency Surgerys healing field, or from the one that is created when she revives an ally, but she's not actually too good at doing this to allies in combat despite being a doctor. This actually makes sense given that actual doctors would only ever consider attempting to help someone in a battle when that person has gotten to the point of their life being imminently at risk of being lost.
* HealThyself: Cathy's Emergency Surgery leaves behind a healing field after she dashes with it, which she can use to help sustain herself or allies in combat.
* HospitalHottie: She fits, given her attractiveness and line of work. She does, however, tend to lose her job at said hospitals.
* ImprovisedWeapon: She uses a scalpel (when using a dagger) or two bonesaws (when using dual swords) as her weapons. She swings a bonesaw for the Amputation ability, hurls a medical suture with thread tied to it for her Suture ability, and brings out her two bonesaws for her Emergency Surgery ultimate.
* LackOfEmpathy: A bizarre example. Cathy is a caring person, but is seemingly incapable of feeling guilt, especially over how she's ended up accidentally killing patients. The Aglaia scientists partially attribute this to her lacking common sense (i.e. giving patients completely wrong medications and/or dosages).
** To put it in perspective, one of her victory quotes is as follows:
--->"At least they didn't die from an illness, you're welcome!"
* MsFanservice: Between being AmbiguouslyBrown, having a CleavageWindow with big breasts, ZettaiRyouiki, and her short skirt, she's quite the looker.
* TheMedic: Cathy's ultimate has a passive effect whereby if she revives an ally, she creates a temporary healing field that restores health over time for her and her allies. Her ultimate also creates a similar healing field after she dashes with it, which can help her team win fights if used properly.
* NinjaRun: Cathy does this with either of her weapons, putting her scalpel up with the other hand facing down and backward with dagger weapons, or has both of her hands held down and backward while holding her bonesaws for dual swords.
* PinnedToTheWall: Cathy's E does this, and not just with walls. It'll also pin two enemies together if it hits two of them.
* TaremeEyes: She's got them, more noticeably on her 3D model or her victory pose. It fits with the DissonantSerenity's she's had going on over people's deaths failing to affect her from her LackOfEmpathy.

->"There's nothing a little explosion can't solve."
It's tough to tell what's going on inside the head of Celine. She has a... particular way of thinking, making her quite unpredictable.

Celine is indifferent to life - except for bombs, detonations, and explosions.

She once found work as an explosive ordinance disposal specialist in the military. After being discharged, however, Celine went missing while undergoing therapy for things she experienced in the military.
----
* BizarreTasteInFood: - it's not the most extreme kind of this trope, but Celine somewhat oddly (the oddity of this is attested by our MasochistsMeal page) really likes eating [=MREs=].
* Combos: Celine does a lot of these with her Plasma Bombs and Blast Wave, and needs to chain her abilities and auto-attacks in various sequences to get the most out of her Magnetic Compulsion.
* CreepyMonotone: Celine has an unsettling preoccupation with explosives and speaks with a lack of emotion to match it.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Played with. In her Black Survival data logs, Aglaia's scientists note that Celine's VF powers, which allow her to "comprehend the structure of things", could have so many beneficial applications...but Celine only ever uses it for explosives.
* DemolitionsExpert: Bombs and explosions are Celine's bread and butter.
* DifficultButAwesome: Celine's kit is tough to master due to requiring setup time, requiring Combos to do meaningful damage, and due to having relatively high mana costs. Learning to use her Blast Wave to stun enemies is also tricky, but rewarding if you can pull it off. When played right, she can do a lot of area damage and has enough crowd control to be devastating to teams, especially if her teammates buy her enough time to pull off her combos.
* HavingABlast: Celine is all about blowing stuff up.
* MadBomber: Her data logs from Black Survival show she's got an unhealthy fixation on explosives.
* ShellShockedVeteran: Celine once served in the U.S. Army as an EOD technician and, after a battle where U.S. forces were being annihilated, ended with a case of PTSD.
* StuffBlowingUp: Celine's been working with explosives ever since her high-school years.

->"I'm ruined...There will be no salvation for me..."

Chiara was sent to a catholic church institution at birth. Every day, she was brainwashed with stories of the omnipotence of His Almighty.

When she was finally allowed to leave the compound, she ventured to seedy, sordid, and wretched places to preach, holding belief that God would protect her. She found herself in reprehensible situations, harshly realizing the cruel reality of life. A denial of God started growing in her mind, causing her disgust within.

She detests seeing beautiful and noble things because of her dissatisfaction with herself.

"The time for salvation has passed."
----
* DeathFromAbove: Chiara's ultimate can conclude by having her rise above the battlefield and then come crashing down on a target, dealing high damage to it and resetting her ultimate's duration if this attack kills its target.
* FinishingMove: The second half of Chiara's ultimate, Last Judgement, can be used on enemies that have four Stigmas on them. When used, Chiara will rise up and then come crashing down on her target, dealing true damage. This is best used to finish off a target, as it will refresh Plague's duration if she scores a kill with Last Judgement and allow her to use Last Judgement again. If it doesn't kill, however, Plague's effect ends.
* HiddenBuxom: Chiara's base skin makes it difficult to tell, but her various skins show she's well-endowed (though not to the degree of Jenny, Aya, Rozzi, etc).
* LadyOfBlackMagic: Chiara is probably the closest example of the trope in Eternal Return due to her dark abilities.
* LifeDrain: Her ultimate, Plague, heals herself while constantly inflicting damage in a large circle around over its duration.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Chiara's white hair and dark powers qualify her for the trope.
* NunTooHoly: She was raised as a nun, but her abilities are all dark-based.
* OfCorsetsSexy: Chiara's Arbiter and Spirit Hunter skins feature corsets that highlight her surprisingly curvy figure.
* OneWingedAngel: Chiara's ultimate gives her dark angel wings and a drastic power boost for its duration.
* PowerGivesYouWings: Chiara's ultimate gives her black angel wings and a dark halo for the duration of the effect. It also causes her to periodically damage nearby enemies and changes her from a melee fighter to a medium-ranged attacker.
* RapeAsBackstory: While not outright stated, it is implied in her data logs from Black Survival that she may have been a rape victim.
* SliceAndDiceSwordsmanship: Despite wielding a rapier, she slashes with it.

->"You.. saw the puppet moving? Heh, very funny."
Chloe is a marionettist with a very calm disposition. She's always wearing a lovable bright smile.

She speaks to people in an incredibly soothing and reassuring manner, always making them lower their guards.

Those around her always look at her with admiration, always remaining composed and never showing any anger or frustration.

When she speaks with her trusty companion Nina, however, she has a tendency to show her true colors.
----
* AchillesHeel: Nina is central to most of Chloe's gameplay, so taking the doll out severely reduces Chloe's capabilities until it revives.
* DifficultButAwesome: Since you basically have to control two characters at once, Chloe is tough to master since positioning is so crucial for both her and Nina. You have to be careful not to overextend either of them, as if Nina is taken out, Chloe loses a lot of her combat options until Nina revives, and she loses a large chunk of her current HP when Nina comes back. If mastered, however, the two can be incredibly deadly.
* MarionetteMaster: Chloe's kit revolves around her doll, Nina, assisting her in combat.
* Meido: Chloe's Dutiful Maid skin is this.
* MostCommonSuperpower: Along with being able to animate her doll Nina, Chloe is also well-endowed.
* SharedLifeMeter: Chloe's ultimate invokes this, requiring her opponent to take both her and Nina down simultaneously.
* Synchronization: Chloe and Nina achieve this when using her ultimate, allowing them to avoid death unless both of them are reduced to 1 HP simultaneously.
* WeakButSkilled: Chloe is stated in-game to be physically weak, having to rely on Nina a lot for physical tasks. That said, her skill with her threads and at controlling Nina make her a deadly adversary.
* WhyWontYouDie: Chloe's ultimate links her life force with Nina so that if one is reduced to 1 HP, any further damage is redirected to the other, meaning they both have to be reduced to 0 HP in order to bring them down.

->"Find inspiration in anything... or anyone."

The hairstylist with the beautiful mane, Daniel is able to completely bring his visions to life with his scissors in hand.

He doesn’t even have to ask his clients what they want - he’s able to conceptualize a perfect look instantly.

He prefers to work in silence and concentrate on his masterpiece, usually making his clients uncomfortable in the process, but the result is always flawless and they always end up coming back.

One afternoon, he received an urgent call from one of his clients, requesting he come and fix their hairstyle.

Daniel gathered his equipment and left, never to return. His colleagues recalled seeing him leave in a huff and seemingly irate.
----
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Daniel styles his customers without asking them anything at all. While this obviously goes against anything resembling customer service guidelines, apparently he's good enough that his results are always successfully received anyway.
* Combos: Daniel needs to use Inspiration on a target (or have them be rooted by someone else) to open them up for the use of Masterpiece against them.
* FinishingMove: His ultimate, Masterpiece, is suited for this due to its damage being close to doubled when the target's health is lower.
* MadArtist: - Daniel was a hairstylist obsessed with perfection but he was still just a reclusive hairstylist before he ended up on Lumia island. That being said, his killing spree voicelines have him more and more regard it as part of his artistic process rather than the misgivings the saner test subjects will express in such a situation.
* TheNightOwl: Daniel's passive, Recluse, makes him faster while out-of-combat at night and allows him to see further at night than other Test Subjects.
* ShearMenace: Daniel makes use of scissors closed together as his main weapon (he counts as a Dagger user) and with some of his abilities.
* YouAreAlreadyDead: Daniel's ultimate, if used when an enemy's health is low enough, can leave them inevitably awaiting their death.

----
* DifficultButAwesome: The TagTeam gameplay of Debi and Marlene makes them hard to master, as each of the twins has significant differences in their movesets. When used correctly, they are capable of dishing out a lot of damage while being hard to escape from.
* RedOniBlueOni: Inverted. Debi is dressed in blue and she's the hotheaded one, while Marlene is red and is far more levelheaded.
* TagTeam: Debi and Marlene's mechanics revolve around swapping between the two twins.

->"Don't be the idiot looking for a reason to fight. Just fight."
He rushes to the enemy in front of him without hesitation. It seems that he was born solely to fight.

He may not have the intelligence to device a strategy, but he is able to suppress his enemy with excellent reflexes and combat skills.

He has forgotten his real name, his nationality, and the rest of his identity. He does not know how he lost his arm, and when he gained the prosthetic arm. The only thing he knows is to fight whatever is in front of him as requested by someone who had given his name.

Due to his memory loss, he lacks of communication skills and common sense, and bewilders anyone meeting him for the first time.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Snakes are his - his abilities have snake themes, his weapons are actual kinds of snakes, and his passive, Call of Cadmus, is named after a mythological character whose tale ended with Cadmus being transformed into a serpent.
* ArtificialLimbs: Echion's right arm is a prosthetic that also serves as his main weapon.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: Echion's main weapon is the energy blade that comes out of his prosthetic arm.
* BloodKnight: His quote above should explain it. He doesn't seem to really even know anything else to fight for anyway.
* CooldownManipulation: His Dry Bite's cooldown is immediately refunded when he hits a target which he hasn't hit with Dry Bite in the last six seconds. His VF Stabilization weapon skill reduces the cooldown of his other abilities when he's at over 50 VF or in VF overflow. His Envenomization ultimate has its cooldown reduced by half a second whenever he lands basic attacks.
* DeathOrGloryAttack: Echion's VF Overflow grants him a drastic power boost when used, but after expiring it leaves him very vulnerable by lowering his stats for a short time.
* EvolvingWeapon: Echion's VF Prosthetic is this, and can be upgraded by using various rare materials such as Meteorites, Mithril, etc. It can also be adapted to fit various playstyles, including anti-tank, self-sustain, or higher mobility.
* ExplosiveOverclocking: - after his VF Overflow state ends, he suffers from the Exuviation state which slows his movement and basic attack speed and his prosthetic can not manifest its blade, reducing his attack range. The Crescent Viper ability is also unable to manifest Sword Beams during Exuviation, dramatically reducing its range to essentially only usable when literally next to an enemy. However, while not insignificant penalties, his prosthetic's overloading effects are only temporary...assuming nothing else kills himself before it ends, of course.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: His VF Prosthetic is his weapon which he, uh, probably shouldn't take off in the middle of a battle royale, assuming he even easily can. Accordingly, Echion can only improve his weapon into a higher-tier and only has that single weapon which logically prevents him from switching to another. His attack range reduction during Exuviation is matched with his prosthetic not emitting its BladeBelowTheShoulder.
* MeaningfulName: Echion's MysteriousPast and inclination to belligerence is befitting, considering the mythological Spartoi that gave the name to the project which made him as he is now - the Spartoi had no past, as they were fully-armed warriors that sprang out of the ground after a serpent's teeth was sown into it. They then proved so violent that they killed most of each other from the provocation of Cadmus throwing a stone in their midst, with all of the Spartoi assuming the throw was a hostile act from one of them.
* MysteriousPast: Even amongst the other Test Subjects, Echion is this thanks to his amnesia.
* NoSocialSkills: Due to him only really knowing how to fight and little else, as shown in his bio.
* StrongButUnskilled: He just kinda likes fighting and happens to be naturally good at it without any sort of training or special mindset to aid him at it. And he...really doesn't know about anything else anyway.
* SuperMode: His VF gauge rises as he uses abilities. When it fills up, he is unable to use Crescent Viper or Keeled Scales but he gains movement speed, causes true damage around him automatically, resets the cooldown of Dry Bite, and becomes able to use his powerful Envenomization ultimate as well as benefitting from special passive bonuses granted by most of his varieties of weapons.
* SwordBeam: Crescent Viper tosses them out for either casts.
* VagueAge: Due to his MysteriousPast, the data logs from Black Survival list his age as "Unknown".

->"It's my turn? I see."

Elena was a promising figure skater who fascinated those around her with graceful movements on the cold ice.

Born in the winter, she was never bothered by the cold. The fire of her passionate heart kept her warm.

Her cold eyes, however, reflected the true nature of her icy heart.

What most people don't know is that Elena wasn't always like that.

She had been betrayed countless times by the people she loved and trusted.

Over time, she grew to become callous and fierce, unable to trust anyone.

Elena is now left with only her skates, her icy heart, and the power to turn anyone near her into ice!
----
* AdaptationNameChange: In the original Black Survival, Elena's last name is Lipnitskaya, a Russian surname. In Eternal Return, her surname is changed to Jerbinen, a Finnish one. This is possibly due to Russia's 2022 war with Ukraine.
* AdaptationalNationality: See above.
* AnIcePerson: Elena's VF powers are ice-based.
* AwesomeButImpractical: Elena's skates look cool, but the blades on them are so impractically long that she shouldn't be able to move on them. This is justified since she's using her ice powers to help her move, even on surfaces like concrete or sand.
* CloseRangeCombatant: Elena might have a good deal of mobility, but her abilities are relatively limited in reach, with only her ultimate having any sort of casting range (and it has a significant activation delay).
* CooldownManipulation: Elena's Q and her trait both affect each other's cooldown, letting her cycle the two continuously while in combat. Her W also reduces the cooldown of her Q if it hits an enemy. Using either her Q or E while in the middle of her W cancels the dash and reduces the cooldown of the ability used to cancel it.
* DashAttack: Elena's W and E are this, as is her weapon skill.
* EtTuBrute: Elena's bio claims she has been betrayed several times by those she loved and trusted.
* LiterallyShatteredLives: Elena's passive builds up a Chill meter on her enemies that eventually causes them to be frozen solid. Hitting them once they are Frozen shatters them, dealing bonus damage.
* MinidressOfPower: Elena is wearing a figure skater's outfit, complete with a minidress and tights.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Elena's hair is white as snow, and her VF powers are ice-based.
* NeverBeHurtAgain: Elena's bio states that she's been betrayed multiple times by people she trusted and loved, and so she became coldhearted and callous in order to invoke this trope.
* ShoutOut: She looks like a cross between Hatsune Miku and Weiss Schnee. Elena also has cryokinetic powers like Weiss.
* StudentCouncilPresident: Elena has this as a skin.

->"The world is full of wonderful things! And food!"

Although young, Eleven is a seasoned streaming pro with her very own show!

On The Eleventh Table, she travels to different places and reviews street food, scenery, hidden attractions, and anything in-between!

She's yet to really find something she greatly dislikes.

The first time she tried Youtiao, a popular Chinese food, she decided to focus on making more street food content.

Eleven harbored a fandom of passionate fans due to her bright, cute voice, sincere reactions, and overall optimism.

Her usual constant stream of enjoyable content came to an abrupt halt after it was leaked that she is the only daughter in an extremely wealthy family.
----
* AchillesHeel: Eleven is especially vulnerable to interrupts due to her numerous charge-up abilities. Stuns, silences, and other similar crowd controls are very problematic to her. Being disarmed during her ultimate is also extremely bad for her, as each basic attack she lands during her ultimate produces sliders needed to sustain her.As such, Yuki and Lenox hard-counter her with their numerous crowd controls. Yuki also deals a lot of true damage, bypassing any defenses Eleven may have built up. She's also more vulnerable to healing reduction effects than most, as she relies on the healing provided by her sliders to increase her longevity in fights.
* ApologeticAttacker: She's liable to verbally plead her target to dodge whenever she attacks.
* BigEater: If that huge burger she's got is any indication...
* BoringButPractical: Eleven's kit is relatively easy to learn and not that hard to master, but she can still be very strong in the right hands.
* CaptainErsatz: The cup in her #11 Combo Meal clearly apes the red-and-white Coca-Cola paper cup design regularly seen in UsefulNotes/McDonalds, but lacks the Coca-Cola words on it to complete the logo.
* ChargedAttack: Eleven's three basic abilities are all charge-up attacks. She used to be able to bypass the charge-up by picking up sliders or activating her ultimate, but this was removed in the 1.0 update.
* CloseRangeCombatant: If Eleven isn't right up in your face, she's probably not a threat to you, especially if you dodge her On Air!.
* HealThyself: Picking up a slider heals Eleven or heals an ally if they collect it. Enemies who touch a slider will crush it, though.
* IWantMyMommy: If she ends up on a killing spree, Eleven may end up saying this due to the horror at having to kill so many people.
* LonelyRichKid: Eleven's parents are extremely rich, but while she is a streamer, she doesn't have any truly close friends. At least, not after her one true friend abandoned her after her identity as a rich kid was revealed to the public.
* ObsessedWithFood: Her bio and voice lines qualify her for this trope.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: She may be small, but she wields that giant burger with ease.
* RoseHairedSweetie: She's definitely one of the nicer characters, including telling enemies to dodge when she attacks them.
* SpoiledSweet: Eleven's parents are very wealthy, yet Eleven is still one of the nicest characters in the roster.
* StoneWall: Eleven can take a lot of punishment thanks to her sliders and the damage reduction effect of her W, and her E can let her jump long distances. However, since the 1.0 patch, Eleven isn't nearly as powerful on offense as she once was, and will generally rely on her teammates to deal most of the damage.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: A burger-and-fries combo. She's the only character in the game who can craft it.
* YouHaveResearchedBreathing: Eleven's unique craftable food is...a burger-and-fries combo with a soft drink in a plastic cup. Which is to say in other words, the most average and common meal combo available in fast food restaurants everywhere. The only logical reason Xiukai can't make that is probably because he would refuse to - most of the other characters definitely would know that kind of recipe, though perhaps the secret of it is Eleven somehow manifesting a soft drink for the meal as well out of the combination of a hamburger and french fries.

->"I'll show you something completely new!"

Whether it be with her hat, coins, or doves, she's well practiced in all forms of magic: but card tricks are her specialty.

She was granted the nickname 'Begi Emma' by her early fans, after being seeming perpetual beginner. Despite her intimidatingly loud voice (and laugh), she is still approachable and friendly.

To free herself from her parents' unyielding household, Emma began to seriously pursue her dream as soon as she became an adult. There are whispers amongst the magician community that she wants to become famous in order to reconnect with her long lost grandfather.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Hers is a rabbit, given her headwear.
* CleavageWindow: Features one in her Witchy skin.
* Combos: Emma's ultimate relies on using her basic abilities to create spots where Emma can teleport to, swapping her position with her doves and hats (but not with Bunnymorphed enemies).
* DifficultButAwesome: Emma's burst damage output isn't nearly as lethal as some of her competition, and she needs to land tricky skillshots to deal sufficient damage. Her ultimate is also tough to use offensively, as it generally relies on an enemy diving in on Emma for her to punish them, as she'll otherwise have to put herself in a dangerous position. She needs to stay aware of the positions of her hats and doves when using her ultimate for escapes or spacing. When properly mastered, however, she's one of the most well-rounded mages in the game and has very few unfavorable match-ups.Most of her bad matchups are characters who can outrange her, such as Eva or Sniper Aya.
* ForcedTransformation: Emma's Bunnymorph turns her enemy into a bunny (or a cat with her Witchy skin).
* Meido: One of her skins is Maid Emma.
* MsFanservice: While her base appearance isn't as outright alluring as characters like Cathy or Jenny, she's got a curvy figure with large breasts and has several fanservicey skins, including her Maid Emma (which includes ZettaiRyouiki) and Witchy Emma skins.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: Emma wears tights in her base skin.
* SquishyWizard: Emma has plenty of magic tricks up her sleeve, but she isn't very good at taking damage.
* TripleShifter: An in-game tidbit claims Emma only ever needed 3 hours of sleep a day due to working two jobs, one of them as a barista.

->"No playing with fire! Leave the rest to me."

Estelle packs a lot of fight into her small stature. Don't underestimate her! She's trained through blood, sweat, and tears to realize her dream of becoming a firefighter.

In a childhood incident, her life was saved by a firefighter. She's idolized the profession ever since, promising to pay it forward by becoming a firefighter that can keep everyone around her safe.
----
* ApologeticAttacker: Having been always eager to be a firefighter, Estelle is unsurprisingly uncomfortable with killing people instead of saving them.
* Combos: The significant delay on her ultimate ability makes the crowd-control that can be provided by her other abilities to be pretty key for hitting it. Additionally, Forcible Entry can have her dash right into enemies to land her ultimate.
* JumpedAtTheCall: She was saved as a child by a firefighter and immediately aspired to become one.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Estelle uses an improvised shield with a fire extinguisher strapped to its back. It plays a large part of her defensively-oriented kit.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Estelle is short in stature, but she's clearly stronger than she looks since firefighting is a strenuous job. She's also described as being the runt of her neighborhood.
* ShieldBash: The animation of her second charge of Suppression has her do one, thrusting her shield forward.
* ShoutOut: Her first joke assures you that her shield can't flashbang people, "unlike that other German guy" - which is to say, VideoGame/RainbowSixSieges Elias "Blitz" Kötz.
* StoneWall: Estelle is very durable if she faces her shield toward the enemy, and she has reasonable mobility. However, her damage output is a bit lackluster, so one shouldn't expect her to burst an enemy down.

->"All I really wanted was... a simple life."

If you've ever spoken with Eva or asked her a question, all she'd do is crack a gentle smile and answer in an almost cryptic way - never revealing anything about herself. There's always been something truly mystifying about her.

She has an insensitivity to pain and can't seem to recall how she develops her bruises and wounds.

Although frail and delicate, she harnesses an unbelievable power that would petrify anyone.
----
* AdaptationalCurves: Eva is bustier in Eternal Return than she was in the original Black Survival. One fandom joke from the latter was that she went up a cup size every time she got a new skin.
* GlassCannon: Eva can do a lot of damage at long range, but she's also fragile.
* ImpossibleHourglassFigure: Eva's waist is far narrower than her chest and hips.
* InnateNightVision: Some in-game notes say that Eva's powers allow her to see in the dark. In-game, this translates to her E letting her detect nearby enemies after she dashes, but doesn't actually extend her vision range.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Her main quote is this. She's not overly fond of her powers.
* MindOverMatter: Eva is specifically designated as a telekinetic.
* MostCommonSuperpower: Along with her telekinesis, she's also one of the bustiest members of the playable roster, though she trails behind Sua, Jenny, and Chloe.
* MysteriousPast: Eva's is more mysterious than the others, especially since all of her data logs from Black Survival were made by her, not the Aglaia scientists, and she fabricated a good amount of it.
* VagueAge: While her age is listed as 17, data logs from the original Black Survival indicate that this may not be her actual age since she fabricated her own history (even the data logs are written by her, not by the scientists). She certainly doesn't look 17, given how tall she is in-game. A joke has her claim she hasn't traveled last since she visited the brown Art/StatueOfLiberty (The Art/StatueOfLiberty was its original copper-brown colour over a hundred years ago).

->"Aim high, act quick! Wanna give it shot?"
Felix is quite the energetic guy, and especially proud of the town where he was born and raised.

He left his university and began working at a convenience store to make ends meet. The neighborhood, and everyone around him, liked his bright and friendly demeanor.

Felix never backs down from a challenge. When he faces difficulties in his life, he tackles them head on.

Felix's hometown saw an uptick in crime and other seedy activities, so he picked up spear training in an effort to protect his neighbors. He was determined to train, protect his friends, and fight.

At that time, it seems like his fate to visit Lumia Island may have already been decided.
----
* AscendedFanboy: He's literally a superhero comic book fan that now has superpowers due to VF. His first Expression voiceline implies he's into , wishing he could just shoot spider webs or open magic portals instead of having to heft a spear around.
* ChargedAttack: Felix's Tempest Hydra is one, inflicting a stun if fully charged.
* CooldownManipulation: Felix normally can't benefit from cooldown reduction, but his basic skills' cooldown will be reduced if he gains more Spearweaving before his third basic skill lands (and if he uses Crescent Wave! last to his an enemy).
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: Felix's basic abilities are all shared onto the same cooldown - when one of them ends up on cooldown, they all do.
* OriginalGeneration: Felix is the first character to appear in Eternal Return before appearing in the original Black Survival.

->"Waist! Neck! Your posture is a mess!"

Fiora is a renowned fencer. Growing up, her family heavily instilled a belief that she should always have pride and a straight posture.

Her father never recognized her talent, believing women to be only for doing chores. As an act of rebellion against her father, and with a desire to be recognized by him, Fiora took up fencing.

She excelled at math in school.

Fiora vows to protect anyone weaker than her, and longs for recognition by anyone stronger than her.
----
* AmbiguouslyGay: While there's no indication of such in Eternal Return, some of Fiora's data logs in the original Black Survival hint she may be attracted to Jenny.
* BerserkButton: Downplayed. Fiora hates being thought of as a woman and hates being called one, even if it's a compliment, but she won't absolutely flip out if you do.
* Combos: Following her rework in the Echion patch, Fiora relies a lot on landing her skills to apply marks to her enemies and then triggering them, with different effects based on which ability she used to trigger the mark.
* CloseRangeCombatant: While her Fente and Attaque Composée have a little bit of reach, Fiora definitely has to get close to the enemy to hurt them. That said, hitting her enemies with the tip of Fente yields the best results from it, so she wants to space herself properly from her foes.
* DashAttack: Fiora's Marche & Rompre always did this, but her rework added Fleche as an additional dash move (though it's a very short-ranged movement). Her weapon skill when using rapiers is also a dash.
* HonorBeforeReason: Fiora's lines show she hates resorting to dirty tactics like traps or stabbing people in the back, even if doing so would be practical in a Battle Royale. Of course, there's nothing stopping the player from doing so.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: When using two-handed swords, Fiora wields a katana.
* MultiMeleeMaster: She can use rapiers, two-handed swords, or spears, all with great efficiency.
* SliceAndDiceSwordsmanship: She makes slashing animations even when using a rapier.
* TheReliableOne: Fiora is someone who will never betray another, no matter who they are.
* WellDoneDaughterGirl: Fiora always wanted her father's recognition in her capabilities, but he passed away before she could achieve that goal.

->"Love and...Peace"

Hart started playing guitar, hooked on the idea that love and music can change the world. She formed a band, who in turn, gained enough popularity that they were pursued by major labels. Hart refused the offers as she would not be able to play the music she wanted. Her other band members, in need of the monetary incentives, signed a contract with a label without her. Shocked by their betrayal, and determined to prove that she was right, she became even more obsessed with using music to change people.

Her father owns an almond farm and she has a twin brother, Clever.
----
* BrownNote: This is basically how she fights, using her guitar to produce harmful sound notes.
* ChargedAttack: Hart's Q is a variant of this, building up power after the initial activation and dealing more damage the longer she charges it. She can perform other actions while charging, though.
* FanservicePack: Hart's Marching Band skin gives her much bigger breasts than she normally has.
* GlassCannon: Hart's damage output can be very impressive, but she can't really take much in return.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: If the name didn’t tip you off, Hart is a blonde, idealistic young woman who has the hope that contributing goodwill and music can change the world for the better.
* MeaningfulName: Hart is...a girl with a lot of heart.
* ISurrenderSuckers: It's not easy or likely because of the large range of it, but it is possible for other allies to be out of Peacemaker's circle and free to damage enemies left helplessly dancing during it.
* MusicalAssassin: Somehow kills things by playing a guitar. There’s no real explanation for how this could be the case, though the devs handwave it as utilization of VF.
* TheLastDJ: The rest of her band needed the money and signed onto a contract label without her. She just struck it alone from there.
* ThePowerOfMusic: Can kill living beings (and destroy some inanimate objects) by playing on her guitar. Her ultimate can force enemies (and allies) in range around her to dance, preventing them from taking any action but moving while also slowing them, and heals herself a lot over its duration. She can also evolve her ultimate so it will heal allies as well.

Haze was born privileged in a poverty-stricken town. Growing up surrounded by the deaths of the miserable poor traumatized her, and she was willing to do whatever it takes to not end up the same way.

In order to live an extravagant lifestyle, she invested a fortune into her education.

To support that extravagant lifestyle, she dove into the underworld of business, following in her father's footsteps and becoming an arms dealer.

She closed deals with little moral regard to establish her business and keep her territory in the weapons market unrivaled.

Now she's coming to Lumia, supplied with her own weapons and ready to fight anyone who threatens her or her lavish lifestyle.
----
* ArmsDealer: Her title and occupation.
* ConsummateProfessional: with her Private Summer skin, which has her voiceover being obsessed with efficiently vacationing. She similarly expresses respect toward other jobs' professional conduct during her vacation, such as firefighters.
* DeathByAThousandCuts: Haze lacks a lot of good burst options and has to chip her enemies down with ability Combos and utilizing her passive-empowered attacks.
* DifficultButAwesome: Haze is tough to master due to her unique gun-swapping mechanics and her inability to perform manual reloads. When used properly, however, Haze can do impressive damage while kiting enemies who try to get too close.
* FiringOneHanded: She fires off her [=SMG=] Burst skill with one hand and her other hand nonchalantly resting on her waist, which is even more impressive since the skill fires off the [=SMG's=] magazine even faster than its normal automatic fire-rate.
* HiddenBuxom: Her default skin doesn't make her look that busty, but her Underworld Org skin shows she's well-endowed.
* LadyInAPowerSuit: She's wearing a business suit while toting an assault rifle. And a grenade launcher. And an SMG. And a shotgun. And a rocket launcher...
* StanceSystem: What her abilities do. Normally she uses an assault rifle, but her skills changes her weapon each time her uses them. Her 40mm Grenade (launcher) and Shotgun skills only changes to those weapons very momentarily, but will nonetheless cancel out the longer-lasting forms when used.
* ThisBananaIsArmed: The large rectangular Weapon Case that she wears on her back and dispenses the rifles she grabs in lieu of reloading is also used as the rocket launcher of her Rocket Launcher ultimate.
* ThrowAwayGuns: Haze throws her weapons away whenever they are expended, rather than taking the time to replace their magazine. This plays a lot into her mechanics, including that she cannot reload manually.
* WalkingArmory: Haze carries a lot of guns with her.
* YouHaveResearchedBreathing: Activating the Overheat weapon skill with her causes her to shoulder her rifle and aim down the sights, which is pretty much the basics for firing a rifle and what other Assault Rifle-using characters are already always doing anyway.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Haze looks like she should be at least in her late-20's or early-30's, but she's actually only 20 years old.

->"This must be another fated way."

Hyejin is the only child of a generational shaman family.

Her destiny, if she had been born after dawn, would have been straightforward and undisturbed. Hyejin was not so lucky. Having been born before dawn, she was fated to go through a great ordeal at the age of 18.

She seems to accept her destiny as it is. Being raised from a shaman family, Hyejin believes her fate has already been determined.

She often plays Bipa, a Korean lute used to communicate with spirits. To be honest though, it kinda just looks like she's murmuring to herself.

"I will follow my destiny!"
----
* BecauseDestinySaysSo: This plays a lot into Hyejin's backstory.
* Combos: Cause damage with her abilities to apply a stack of Three Calamities onto them, damage them a total of three times to fear them. Use the crowd control it provides along with Charm of Despair or Charm of the Prophecy to help land those other abilities in addition to her ultimate Five Omens.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: Debatable if it's black magic, but Hyejin is definitely a mage.
* Miko: Her appearance resembles one.
* SquishyWizard: Hyejin can't take a lot of damage, but she can dish out plenty of it, as well as considerable amounts of crowd control.
* SupernaturalFearInducer: Her trait allows her to inflict Fear on her enemies if she lands three abilities on them in quick succession.
* YouCantFightFate: Hyejin's bio and lines show she definitely believes this.

->"It couldn't get any worse."

Hyunwoo had no ambitions or dreams. All he felt was... emptiness.

To fill the void within, he turned to the thrill of constantly picking fights and brawls.

Despite all his attempts, the emptiness and anxiety inside him only grew.

He has a compulsion for a lottery ticket to be the first thing he buys as an adult.

He has always been more attached to his friends than his family.
----
* AttackReflector: Hyunwoo's weapon skill when using Tonfas blocks all incoming damage and dishes a portion of it back to the attacker.
* BoringButPractical: Hyunwoo's kit is relatively simple compared to many other characters in the roster, but it's still very functional. Most of the time, all one needs to worry about is positioning themselves properly to use his dash for shoving an enemy into a wall.
* ChargedAttack: Hyunwoo's ultimate, Haymaker, is this, building up in damage and range as it charges.
* CooldownManipulation: Hitting enemies with First Attack reduces its cooldown by a quarter. Activating Bluff immediately charges Hyunwoo's passive Dogfight and being damaged by more basic attacks while it's active will also give him more stacks of Dogfight to help charge it faster...and did we mention consuming Dogfight reduces the cooldown of Bluff?
* CloseRangeCombatant: Only Hyunwoo's Haymaker has any reach, but its slow charge-up makes it impractical to use as a ranged attack in most circumstances. Otherwise, unless Hyunwoo is close to you, he won't be doing much unless he uses his dash (which he generally wants to use to slam his enemy into a wall).
* Combos: It is very easy for one to run away out of the rectangle of Hyunwoo's Haymaker ultimate to avoid its maximum damage...unless he's stunned you by pushing you into a wall with First Attack or slowed you with Stomping Foot.
* DashAttack: Hyunwoo's E is a relatively simple but infamous example that will stun his enemy if he charges them into a wall. With the right build, this can lead to what basically amounts to a OneHitKill when he follows it up with his Haymaker.
* TheEeyore: He's constantly going on about how things can't get much worse for him, although they usually do.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: Hyunwoo uses his fists as one of his weapon variants.
* MightyGlacier: Given the right setup, Hyunwoo can easily be one of the tankiest characters in the game, with some builds allowing him to virtually ignore low-damage hits. However, his dash is his only mobility tool, and it cannot go over walls.
* PinnedToTheWall: Hyunwoo's dash does this if he charges an enemy into a wall, stunning his target.

----
* CatGirl: She has cat ears in her concept art (along with human ears). She can also transform into a large cat as part of her gameplay.
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: One of her eyes is orange, while the other is blue.

----
* CloseRangeCombatant: Isaac might have a fair amount of mobility, but he doesn't have any real reach to his abilities. He has to get in the enemy's face to be a threat to them.
* CooldownManipulation: His Reinforce skill passively causes his Swoop and Hound's cooldowns to be reduced when they inflict the fourth stack of Exploit to an enemy.
* Combos: His Arrest skill will stun enemies just long enough for The Heavy Hand of the Law ultimate to land onto them.
* CoolOldGuy: He looks to be even older than Bernice, who was the prior oldest male Test Subject, and gives off a suave air with his posture and style of dress while he dual-wields tonfas to fight off test subjects much younger than him. The whole unabashed-DirtyCop thing does noticeably detract from his awesomeness at the same time, however...
* DirtyCop: His title and job make him this.
* LifeDrain: His Exploit passive is easily applied repeatedly onto enemies, and heals him for a portion of its damage every time it gets fully stacked to four.
* KillerCop: Isaac has likely killed before coming to Lumia Island, if his dialogue is anything to go by. Even if it's not the case, he has no qualms killing the other Test Subjects if it benefits him.
* SilverFox: Gray hair, gray beard, yet still looks good for his age.
* TortureAlwaysWorks: Moving in the Pond area with him will have him remark that waterboarding will always get someone to say what you want them to...though given that he's a DirtyCop, the actual truth may not be exactly what he wants out of you.

->"I can't stop here."

Isol, known as Marcelo at the time, escaped his orphanage at the age of 12 at the suggestion of his trusted friend, Francisco.

Following his escape, he joined the terrorist group known as MOK. Isol is the sole survivor among the several child soldiers who joined the group around then.

He tended to devolve to unnecessarily cruel ways of murder.

Isol is overly disinterested in learning about others as he hates unnecessarily forming close relationships.
----
* AchillesHeel: Detection is Isol's key weakness. If his attacker has cameras or drones, they can spot his traps and spot him even if he uses his stealth. EMP Drones can disable his traps too, rendering his minefields temporarily useless.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: Isol is the youngest playable character in Eternal Return (tied with Sissela), being only 16.
* ChildSoldier: It's more-or-less stated in his bio that he was one. He could still technically qualify as one since he's only 16.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: His bio states that he often inflicted this on others.
* DifficultButAwesome: Learning to use Isol's abilities isn't that hard, but mastering him is another story. Isol is one of the squishiest characters in the game, and has a heavy reliance on traps, which most other characters don't go out of their way to make. Finding time to make traps and knowing the best routes to get the parts takes a thorough knowledge of the game, and requires good inventory management since traps (and their parts) will take up a lot of space, while also taking up time Isol could otherwise use to build up his stats. This is not helped by various nerfs that have been made to traps due to Isol's dominance with them at higher tiers of play, reducing how many he can stockpile. Learning how to use them correctly is also tricky. Put one down too early or in a bad spot and it may expire before anyone triggers it. Put it down too late and someone may see you do it and thus easily avoid the trap or use cameras to destroy it. You also have to be in position when someone triggers the trap to make the most out of it, or they'll just retreat and heal. Even if one does make a load of traps, an opponent could spam cameras or EMP drones and disable them, while also preventing Isol from using his stealth to escape. When in skilled hands, however, Isol is considered one of the most deadly opponents in late-game scenarios because of his control over the battlefield and ability to shut down even well-built, well-fed opponents with his traps.
* GlassCannon: Isol's damage output is impressive, but he's easily one of the squishiest characters in the game, and needs to rely on his stealth and traps to avoid taking damage. It's not unusual for an Isol to die in just a couple of hits if his enemy catches him.
* HitAndRunTactics: This is Isol's bread and butter. Due to his exceptional skill with traps, he usually will set up a killzone ahead of time and then lure an enemy into it. Most experienced players know not to dive or chase an Isol due to the inevitable minefield they'll have to go into, but if they don't dive him, he can just harass them at range until they either leave or are forced to fight him on his terms. He needs to leverage this, however, due to him being perhaps the squishiest character in the game.
* PhotographicMemory: Part of Isol's in-game trait is that if he sees an enemy place down a trap, he will remember the location of it, allowing him to detect and destroy it without needing a camera or drone.
* TrapMaster: Isol's ultimate has him place down a powerful mine, and his trait makes using traps more effective on him (and lets him remember the location of enemy traps he sees being placed). If you're up against an Isol late in the game, you should expect to cross a minefield to reach him.
* UnnecessaryCombatRoll: Isol's Camouflage ability has him perform one of these, serving as a dash that also turns him invisible for a short time, letting him escape from trouble if his enemy doesn't bring a way to detect him.

->More...more...more!!

Jackie first discovered the thrill of murder after killing the wife and daughter of the Winslair family - a prominent political family. She went on to become a serial killer with a body count of over 30 people.

Her name 'Quilt' comes from her modus operandi of slicing the victims' bodies into small indistinguishable pieces. The resulting pieces are too small to identify, unless stitched together like a quilt.

She gained infamy for her rather inhumane killing methods and meticulous clean-up.

The body of Jackie's first victim, Angela Winslair, was never found.
----
* AchillesHeel: Jackie is highly reliant on self-healing to sustain her through a fight, so reducing her healing is considered mandatory to fighting her. Additionally, Jackie's limited approach options mean opponents with strong disengage tools are favored against her.
* AnimeHair: Jackie's white hair is spiky or otherwise sticks out from her head in many places that a real person would probably take several hours with hair gel to hope achieve such a look...and probably still couldn't considering how much some of her's bends.
* AttackAttackAttack: This is pretty much Jackie's primary means of fighting, rushing in and using auto-attacks until either the target is dead or she is.
* BloodKnight: Jackie clearly doesn't consider having an insurmountable advantage over her targets as a SerialKiller usually would to be necessary for her, as she finds the experiment against all of the other armed Test Subjects quite fun and expresses disappointment at how quickly it's all over should she become victorious. Voicelines played from her Adrenaline Rush skill further implies she finds a risky situation to be thrilling.
* BoringButPractical: Jackie's kit isn't very flashy and not very flexible, but she excels at slugging it out with opponents if they can't nullify her high amount of sustain or can't get away from her.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: A line for her losing a match while highly placed has flat out say "That's too bad...I guess we'll just have to wait for our next game.", though considering how deranged she is, she may legitimately find the experiment to be a fun game to her.
* ChainsawGood: Her ultimate skill, Chainsaw Murderer, has her pull out the chainsaw worn on her back to cause all of her basic attacks to bleed enemies hit by her and increase her attack speed significantly. When the ultimate ends, she spins it around her for a highly-damaging area-of-effect attack.
* CloseRangeCombatant: Jackie is capable of: 1. Hitting enemies in a small cone a bit farther past her close-range normal attack distance. 2. Run faster as well as healing and doing more damage while hitting bleeding enemies (such as the preceding ability...but probably mostly normal attacks). 3. Jump to a location, doing damage to enemies close by the landing zone and slow them if they were bleeding. 4. Normal attacks have additional attack speed and inflict bleeds, ends with a sweep attack around Jackie. Basically, Jackie is either next to you and hitting you, or probably not doing much to you.
* Combos: Hack-and-Slice in addition to her basic attacks while using Chainsaw Murderer cause enemies to bleed for additional damage over time. Adrenaline Rush does extra damage and heals Jackie when she damages a bleeding enemy, and Leaping Strike slows enemies it hits while they are bleeding. Said Leaping Strike’s slow or the leap itself is also very helpful for keeping in range of an enemy for Chainsaw Murderer’s ending attack.
* CoveredWithScars: She has plenty of scars over her. This would either imply her SerialKiller history has her either willing to attack people that aren't completely helpless up against her or to make some very risky getaways.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Jackie's rather scarred for a SerialKiller that's gotten away with it. There's no indication these would be self-inflicted, so she's presumably open to violence that isn't entirely in her favor.
* FanDisservice: She's a thin, cute anime-style woman that goes around wearing only sports underwear (along with gloves, boots and a torn apron)...that is also a heavily-scarred, mutilating SerialKiller who is splattered with blood and holding a chainsaw.
* FangsAreEvil: Has fanged canines that she's likely to show as she makes Slasher Smiles...and we said she's a SerialKiller, right?
* FluffyTheTerrible: "Jackie Quilt" isn't the most murderous of names, but she got nicknamed Quilt because her victims were cut to such small pieces one would have to stitch the pieces together like a quilt to hope to identify them.
* HuntingTheMostDangerousGame: She clearly prefers this, with some voice lines after she kills animals having her declare them to be uninteresting to her.
* NeverFoundTheBody: The reason her first victim, Angela Winslair, was never found? .
* ObfuscatingInsanity: Though Jackie might seem like a crazed psycho, her data logs and in-game tidbits indicate she is clinically sane, and that she's instead invoking this trope.
* PsychopathicManchild: Asks a few childlike questions (such as wondering how boats don't sink) and has a reoccurring motif in her voicelines around the children's-games Tag and Hide-and-Seek. Also, she's a sadistic SerialKiller
* RedEyesTakeWarning: If carrying around a chainsaw didn't clue you in to how she's a horrific murderer, perhaps her red eyes might do it?
* ReverseGrip: Jackie goes one step farther than many of her anime-inspired brethren in that she doesn't just hold swords or daggers in an icepick grip-- but will also reverse-hold an Axe.
* RippleEffectProofMemory: As one of the first generation of the Black Survival experiments, Jackie's memory can't be edited at all when she regenerates. Because of this, Jackie remembers absolutely everything from each round of testing and her voice lines when winning, killing other players, or dying reflect it.
* SelfMadeOrphan: Some voice lines imply that the "missing" Angela Winslair is actually her and thus she murdered the family's adults, with her saying sometimes while in Uptown that it reminds her of long ago and a line where she chuckles about how her parents were killed by a very scary person.
* SerialKiller: Jackie has killed over thirty people as a SerialKiller. That being said, while on Lumia island, she is clearly quite open to the idea of being a SpreeKiller as well judging by how much she enjoys killing multiple Test Subjects in a match and expresses how she's eager to add more to the count.
* SlasherSmile: Her default expression is that of an intimidating grin with one of her fangs showing. It's pretty obvious anyone she's looking at she'd like to make dead.
* SpinAttack: The end of Chainsaw Murderer's duration causes her to do one with her chainsaw before putting the chainsaw away.
* SwordDrag: Moves with a two-handed sword or an ax this way.
* SwordPlant: The final portion of the animation for her Leaping Strike skill, as shown by its icon.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: This white-haired woman is a SerialKiller who meticulously murdered and cut up her victims into such small pieces that they're unidentifiable until put back together.
* YouHaveResearchedBreathing: Jackie is only capable of using the chainsaw that she always has on her back after getting the skill Chainsaw Murderer at level 6.

->"Time for some action!"

Jan is the eldest son of a famous Muay Thai athlete and a kickboxer who always puts on an entertaining show.

Along with his showmanship, his public volunteer work helped him gain a number of fiercely loyal fans.

Jan and his younger brother started learning Muay Thai while studying abroad, but he was involved in a violent altercation one night, causing his father to send him back to the Netherlands and disrupting his life.

He entered a rebellious phase, often turning to violence and relying on substances, but was able to overcome it through sheer will and eventually debuted as a kickboxer. Outside the fight, he is usually cheerful and light, the moment the first bell rings, it's like a switch is flipped inside his head.

Jan's trademark is his agility and barrage of seemingly endless attacks.
----
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Jan looks like he's African, but actually hails from the Netherlands.
* BloodKnight: He sees Lumia Island as the ultimate sparring arena, so you can tell he loves a good fight.
* Combos: Jan's abilities pair extremely well with his Tetragon ultimate, letting him crowd control his opponent for an extensive time while keeping them from escaping. The knockback from Tomahawk Roundhouse will even knock players back into the center of the ring.
* CloseRangeCombatant: Jan isn't much of a threat if he hasn't gotten into melee range of you. But once he's in melee range, he becomes much more deadly due to his crowd control and self-sustain.
* CooldownManipulation: Jan's got this all over him: Hitting with his enhanced Leaping Knee will reset the cooldown of Bob and Weave. Using Bob and Weave while enhanced will also reduce its own cooldown by 40%. Every time he enhances any basic skill, his passive will reduce the cooldown of all of its basic skills, making it very infrequent he'll be unable to use any his basic abilities as long as he's able to attack you after he's gotten enough levels to put full ranks into his passive.
* FitnessNut: Much like Piolo, his "resting" animation is instead actually willingly exercising (he rapidly and loudly does crunches) while trapped in a battle royale on an island.
* HeroicSecondWind: Debatable on the "heroic" part, but follow-up basic abilities after Jan's Bob and Weave will heal him for more based on his missing health.
* ReformedCriminal: - he's mentioned to have had a history of violence and was drug-addicted when he was younger, but he's beyond that in his just-prior-present of kickboxing.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He's bare above the waist in his base skin.

->"Sorry, I have no time for autographs today."

Jenny had a regular childhood in a regular house house in an average suburb. Not rich, but not poor. Not fortunate, not unfortunate. Textbook mediocrity.

She hated it.

Jenny was entirely convinced that she'd become a Superstar and would see her name in lights. Unfortunately for her, she never quite got her big break; she's a B-list actress at best. Though, she still tries to indulge in luxury.

Despite the fact that she easily falls in love, her big, yet frail, ego has prevented her from ever dating seriously.
----
* AdaptationalCurves: While Jenny was curvy in the original Black Survival, it's taken to a whole new level in Eternal Return, especially for her breasts, which are now almost the size of her head!
* AmbiguouslyBi: Jenny's been in a lot of short-lived relationships, according to her bio, and data logs from the original Black Survival hint she may also be attracted to Fiora.
* BuxomBeautyStandard: Jenny has the largest breasts of the roster so far, only contested by Sua (who was actually bigger in the original Black Survival), and her dress highlights them. Given her attitude toward fashion, she probably thinks bigger means better.
* Combos: Red Carpet's slow and pushing/pulling effect helps keep enemies in the circles of Spotlight and Acceptance Speech. Enemies will usually be able to avoid at least some of Spotlight's damage, but not if Red Carpet or Acceptance Speech keeps them inside its circle.
* ComicalOverreacting: Having her fish may cause her to let out a loud gasp and state "I need...to...fish!?"
* CooldownManipulation: Jenny's basic attacks reduce the cooldown of Persona by one second, and her Red Wine role gives her bonus attack speed. Activating Acceptance Speech also resets the cooldown of Persona.
* DistractedByTheSexy: Jenny's ultimate has a Charm effect that makes enemies walk toward her helplessly. Given that she's one of the most fanservicey characters in the game so far, this is likely how she does it.
* EveryoneLovesBlondes: She seems to think this about herself, and she's definitely a blonde MsFanservice.
* FakingTheDead: Jenny's trait will let her revive after taking lethal damage by playing dead, provided she has enough Rehearsal built up.
* FragileSpeedster: Jenny's mobility is very high when she's able to make use of her skillset, but even with her FakingTheDead mechanic she's very squishy.
* InstantCostumeChange: Her Persona has her change between two roles every time the ability is used - Red Wine and Black Tea. These respectively have different clothing associated with them: in her default appearance, Red Wine includes a red dress, shopping bags, and a large fur scarf; Black Tea, on the other hand, is a black dress and a purse.
* MsFanservice: Long blonde hair, huge breasts with a fishnet cleavage window, a dress that emphasizes her bosom and shows off her legs, and so forth. Jenny is very attractive.
** Her Mobster skin adds garters and ZettaiRyouiki to the mix and exposes more of her generous cleavage.
* NoblewomansLaugh: Her Japanese dub does this, at least. Potentially crosses into AnnoyingLaugh.
* SmallNameBigEgo: She wanted to become a huge star and she's full of herself, but her bio states that she's a B-level actress at best. One of her jokes is for her to play the role of "...an aspiring actor, not a big star!" as an example for her acting ability. Her specialty in playing dead also rather highlights how far she hasn't gotten, given how it's a common bit role to play a corpse - though there was a Q&A from the original Black Survival that said Jenny actually would have become a star eventually if she hadn't ended up on Lumia island.

->"I will overcome any of His trials."

A priest must never lose his faith. Johann is principled and steadfast.
He is naturally meticulous and has a tendency to be overly stern - perhaps to a point where others find him difficult to approach.

Despite this austerity, Johann is rarely ever outwardly angry.
He does, however, let his emotions slip when he witness transgressions and injustice towards the youth or people that he's grown to admire.
----
* HealThyself: Johann's kit is very support-oriented, and can be used to sustain himself and allies in battle.
* HighPriest: He obviously fits the trope.
* LightIsGood: Uses holy attacks and is definitely one of the "good" aligned characters.
* SupportPartyMember: Johann's kit is built around healing and buffing his teammates.

->"Shut it! I don't feel like listening."

Karla, who has a free spirit and is never afraid to speak her mind, is also known as the hunter of the seas. When she sets her sights on something, she never misses. She's very competitive and adventurous, and she never backs down from a challenge.

She's not the easiest to befriend, but everyone around her tries anyway. They know crossing her is a bad idea. After all, she has her trusty harpoon and isn't afraid to pull the trigger!
----
* AutomaticCrossbows: She's the game's second crossbow user (after Nadine). Subverted in that she can't actually use hers in a traditional automatic fashion because of her Reload mechanic.
* ChainsawGripBFG: A variant - Karla holds and fires her very large crossbow by a foregrip that is mounted on the left side of her crossbow rather than on top.
* Combos: Even with Shackling Anchor's slow and large circle of effect, Karla's ultimate is easy to simply move out of before its duration ends and the second part of its damage occurs. Fortunately for Karla, she is capable of quickly dashing to intercept enemies trying to move out of it with Grappling Maneuver and then knocking them back toward the anchor's circle with her passive or Expulsion Shot. The pulling and stunning effect from Shackling Anchor also makes it easy for Karla to line up two or even three harpoons onto a target to cause maximum damage with Salvage.
* CooldownManipulation: Karla can only use a single basic attack every time her passive is charged, which charges up automatically from the Readiness resource that takes a base amount of fourteen to ten seconds to replenish. However, Karla can gain a large amount of Readiness by damaging an enemy with Salvage to greatly reduce the downtime of her passive, and Salvage also reduces the cooldown of Grappling Maneuver for each time it damages an enemy. Inversely, Karla's Piercing Chain and Salvage skills cannot benefit from the cooldown reduction stat, though Piercing Chain instead decreases its cooldown to a point via the attack speed stat.
* DressedToPlunder: She definitely looks like a pirate. However, she insists in a joke that she is not one since she always watches movies legally.
* GrapplingHookPistol: Her Grappling Maneuver skill has her do a variant of this with her harpoon-firing crossbow - rather than pulling back her harpoons like she normally does with her Salvage skill, she takes her feet off the ground while she reels in the chain, pulling herself to a harpoon embedded in the ground before leaping off of it.
* GreatBow: Karla's crossbow is nearly as tall as she is - and it definitely is when loaded with the harpoons she fires out of it. Correspondingly, its bow is over double her shoulder width and she has to fire it by holding it around waist-level while clutching [[a side-mounted foregrip with her left hand. She further shows off just how huge her crossbow and its projectiles are by wearing two heads of her harpoons on a waist belt - they would be pretty huge if they were knives...and her ultimate still tops those harpoons by firing an even larger harpoon that's over twice her height with its individual barbs being longer than the width of her crossbow's bow.
* HarpoonGun: Her crossbow fires large harpoons connecting to it with chains. These chains are reeled in with her Salvage skill. She can also use it a bit like a GrapplingHookPistol with her Grappling Maneuver skill.
* LoopholeAbuse: Karla can only be connected to two harpoons at one time and thereby should only be able to reel two at once with her Salvage skill, right?...except it turns out that due to the travel time of Piercing Chain's harpoons, Karla can actually pull in three harpoons with one use of Salvage by firing off Piercing Chain while she's chained to two harpoons and then immediately using Salvage before the third harpoon sticks into the ground. This causes her reel in the first two harpoons followed by the third harpoon momentarily, which will reel in after it embeds to its targeted location.
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: By MOBA standards, Karla is highly unusual since she cannot auto-attack in the same way every other character can. She can only attack when her Reload gauge is full, and her attack fires a harpoon that plays into her ability mechanics. This makes Karla entirely incapable of using traditional DPS builds, and makes her completely dependent on using ability Combos.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Despite Karla's feats of strength via her weapon and many of her skills, she looks slight in build.
* OneHitKill: Karla can do this... to traps and cameras, compensating for her extremely slow autoattacks.
* RummageSaleReject: Her outfit consists of a pirate hat, crop top, short shorts, and a single thighhigh.

->"Can I take this? Aw... I'm joking!"
As a modern phantom thief, Laura pulls off her heists with elegance and grace.

She's so talented at her craft, there's virtually nothing she couldn't steal and no security system she couldn't best.

Laura enjoys luxury, and (maybe not so) secretly enjoys catching people off guard.

Police have launched exhaustive operations in an attempt to catch her, but these operations were nothing but child's play for the phantom thief herself.
----
* AdaptationalCurves: Laura's breasts appear higher and firmer on her chest compared to Black Survival, and her bodysuit hugs her curves. She doesn't show as much skin in her base appearance, though.
* CallingCard: Throwing one is literally her second ability!
* ClassyCatBurglar: Definitely fits Laura to a tee. However, her first expression voiceline has her express confusion at having such a label applied to her, citing that she doesn't even like cats.
* Combos: She uses Sly Step to ready her Phantom Thief passive, then lands Thorn Lilac to gain more Thrill to use Sly Step again. She can also Sly Step while using Twilight Heist to move herself to help land it on enemies that naturally should be trying to avoid standing between herself and terrain, and she needs Calling Card's mark to have been on a target for at least two seconds to be able to drag them along with her while using Twilight Heist. Grappling Whip can also be used on an enemy marked with Calling Card to pull them toward Laura so that enemies won't have to be between a wall and Laura for her to fully hit them with Twilight Heist - Laura just has to be in range of a wall and have Sly Step available.
* CooldownManipulation: Consuming the mark from Calling Card has reduces the cooldown of Twilight Heist by 80%. Pretty strictly with her other skills - Thorn Lilac's 1 second cooldown means you'll have almost no benefit to it from bothering to build cooldown reduction. Sly Step cannot be affected by cooldown reduction - though in practice, it can still be cast again faster by moving faster to gain more of her Thrill resource or making good use of Thorn Lilac and Calling Card to gain more Thrill to let her dash again sooner.
* DifficultButAwesome: Laura has no innate sustain and her high mobility kit is tough to master, needing to use her dashes to dodge attacks. Her trait, which causes her basic attacks to deal bonus damage after moving a certain distance or after using a movement ability, doesn't work if her enemy is too close to her, requiring good positioning to make the most of it. Additionally, her ultimate ability requires a wall, so Laura is at a disadvantage if she's in a wide open area. When mastered, however, Laura can be extremely mobile and dish out plenty of damage, running circles around slower opponents while wearing them down.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Laura's Japanese voice actress sounds like she's having a bit too much fun, and some of her voice lines sound fairly erotic...
* FragileSpeedster: Laura has a lot of mobility in her kit, but has no innate sustain or defensive buffs in it, making her more reliant on dodging attacks.
* GeoEffects: Her ultimate Twilight Heist has her latch onto terrain and pull herself to it, causing damage as she is pulled. When she reaches the terrain, she causes damage again and sends nearby enemies airborne. Twilight Heist actually is almost incapable of doing anything at all without terrain to latch onto - it will make her momentarily Unstoppable, but nothing else otherwise.
* JumpPhysics: Laura is capable of using Sly Step at any point during Twilight Height. This makes her capable of moving in a direction suddenly while mid-air and somersaulting backwards.
* JustLikeRobinHood: Data logs from Black Survival cite that she would steal from the rich and give to the poor, which made people sympathetic toward her.
* LasciviousBeautyMark: She has a beauty mark underneath her left eye, to complement her image as a sensual ClassyCatBurglar with a flirtatious personality and her role as a MsFanservice.
* MsFanservice: Despite showing less skin with her base outfit than in Black Survival, Laura's still wearing a skintight bodysuit that hugs her curvy body, especially her ample breasts, which also jiggle even in her bodysuit. Her voice lines are also fairly erotic in nature, especially in the Japanese dub. Her alternate outfits show more skin, especially her "Jailhouse Phantom Laura" skin. See also TheTease.
* OrnamentalWeapon: She has what looks like a snub-nose revolver in a holster on her hip for her Jailhouse Phantom skin, but she can never actually use it.
* PlayingHardToGet: Laura does this a lot, both figuratively and literally. She's not only TheTease, but she can also be hard to catch in-game due to her high mobility.
* SensualSpandex: Laura wears a skintight bodysuit that hugs her curvy body, with a barely-a-jacket over top that wouldn't even cover her bust if it were buttoned up (which it isn't) that has sleeves that flare out down to her arms.
* ShoutOut: Laura makes one to by declaring "Show me your true form!" like Joker in her third expression voiceline.
* SpinAttack: Laura's attacks benefitting from Teachings of Nerea has her spin around entirely to the right as she swings her whip. Twilight Heist has her perform a backwards somersault after jumping off the terrain she hooked onto.
* SultryBangs: On top of being a ClassyCatBurglar in a very tight bodysuit, her MsFanservice image is further made obvious with her purple hair seductively going over her left eye. The splash art used for her skins also further use this trope by actually them show her hair going over her eye, compared to her standard artwork which has her head turned enough to see her left eye clearly.
* TheTease: She's extremely flirtatious and knows she's attractive, so she fits the trope.
* ThrillSeeker: Laura does what she does for the sheer thrill of it. This even ties into her gameplay, as she has a special resource called...Thrill, which is used for her dashes.
* TooManyBelts: Her Jailhouse Phantom and Underworld Org skins have four belt/straps worn around her body for no purpose other than to wear them.
* WhipOfDominance: She wields a whip in combat, fitting with her smug, sensual, and domineering nature, and it's hinted she very much enjoys using her whip on people. Her "Jailhouse Phantom Laura" skin even has her in a Dominatrix-styled jailer outfit.

->"Don't you love fishing? It calms your mind."

You'll be hard-pressed to find Lenox wearing waders - she's always dressed to the nines.

Judging by her disposition, she was once clearly involved in something... organized.

She's now trying to stay low-key, believe a fishing rod to be good enough a disguise as any, although her colorful and impressive tattoos aren't helping.

Lenox can often be found with a smile on her face, but when you ask her about the scar on her back, her whole demeanor changes.
----
* AnimalMotifs: She has snake tattoos and some of her abilities have snake-inspired name. This goes along well with her whip-like weapon.
* Combos: Lenox's Blue Viper pairs well with her Whiplash and her whip's weapon skill, forcing the enemy to move and thus take damage from Blue Viper.
* CrutchCharacter: Lenox can bully a lot of opponents early on, but she has issues later in the game if she doesn't get way ahead of her competition.
* Dominatrix: Played with, given her use of whips, her wardrobe, and some of her animations.
* EveryoneCallsHerBarkeep: "Lenox" is an alias, and no one knows her real name.
* TheMafia: She was definitely in the Mafia. Somehow though, despite the usual impediments to such a concept, she put that behind her.
* MightyGlacier: Lenox's Recoil scales with her maximum HP, and her passive's shield also scales with it, so Lenox players usually build for high durability. However, she has no innate mobility tools to help her reposition.
* PaperThinDisguise: She was trying to lay low from her previous mafioso life...by still wearing the same clothing she used to wear and keeping her distinctive tattoos exposed for all to see.
* RetiredOutlaw: She's definitely a retired mafioso, but she seems to have put that behind her somehow for some reason.
* RodAndReelRepurposed: She uses that fishing rod of hers as her main weapon.
* TattooedCrook: Quite certainly a former mafioso, and heavily tattooed to book.
* WhipOfDominance: Lenox is the first character in Eternal Return to use whips, which complements her Dominatrix motif.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: The second half of Lenox's W can pull enemies toward her from a distance. Her E can also be used as a minor shove as well, which she can use to pull an enemy in her direction.

->"The weak always fall behind."

Leon was raised by a highly decorated soldier who always drilled the importance of "manliness" into him.

He was always under immense pressure to not show any weakness, both from himself and others.

The suppression of his feelings caused them to manifest themselves as a desire for material possessions - particularly "cute" things.

Leon has tons of pictures of kittens on his phone and was caught in his room wearing rather... cute clothing once or twice.
----
* CutenessProximity: If his bio is any indication, this fits him...as much as he doesn't want others to know.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: Leon is a Fist user.
* LightningBruiser: Between his shield, his diving attack, and his damage output, Leon is a deadly adversary who has plenty of mobility and can take and dish out reasonable amounts of punishment.
* MakingASplash: Leon's abilities are all water-based. He also gain bonuses while standing the pools of water he makes!
* UnmanlySecret: Basically his internal character conflict in a nutshell.

->"Would you please stay out of my life?"

Li Dailin was the only daughter of a martial arts family. Her family chose to walk the path of mastery and training, disregarding care for her. This life resulted in nothing but resentment towards martial arts.

To enact her revenge, she sold the martial arts studio, along with the secrets passed down for generations, abandoning her pride as a martial artist.

When she runs out of money for alcohol, she usually picks up odd jobs.

She has a reputation as 'Beggar Li' in her hometown.
----
* TheAlcoholic: It should be pretty obvious that she's this.
* AnimeChineseGirl: Li Dailin is Chinese, and the game's art style makes her fit the trope.
* BrilliantButLazy: Li Dailin is undoubtedly a masterful martial artist, but she's as slothful as they come and hates her martial arts history due to years of ParentalNeglect.
* CloseRangeCombatant: Li Dailin has to get in close to do damage unless she's using her Nunchuk's weapon skill, which is quite predictable and has considerable wind-up.
* DashAttack: Dailin's Q gives her three of them in quick succession (though they're short-ranged dashes), and her ultimate also qualifies as one.
* DrunkenMaster: Li Dailin is a martial artist who's always drunk, yet she can still kick ass. In fact, data logs from the original Black Survival indicate she fights better when drunk. This is reflected in-game, as drinking alcoholic beverages will temporarily increase Li Dailin's attack speed.
* DumpStat: Skill Amplification is useless to Li Dailin as of the 1.0 release, as she has no abilities that scale off it.
* FanservicePack: Li Dailin's Dragon Dance skin seems to bump up her chest size slightly, going from flat-chested to having B-cups. It also shows a slight bit of Sideboob and an improvised CleavageWindow thanks to the breast curtains.
* FinishingMove: Li Dailin's ultimate is best used this way, as it deals higher damage as the target's health gets lower.
* Kiai: Her Japanese dub has her say "Oraoraoraoraora!" when she hits someone with her empowered ultimate.Even when not empowered, she'll still go "Oraora!" when hitting someone with her ultimate.
* KickChick: Quite a few of Li Dailin's moves in her Fist variation are kicks.
* LazyBum: Her bio and data logs from Black Survival show this trope fits her.
* LightningBruiser: Li Dailin leans more on the mobility and damage output side, but she can still take a few hits and keep fighting.
* OdangoHair: Li Dailin wears her hair like this along with two very long twintails.

->"Double L Cleaning is on the job!"

Claiming to be a veteran janitor, Luke gained quite the reputation for his proficiency in cleaning and handling any request with a smile.

After clocking out of his day job, cleaning takes on another meaning for him. There's nothing the silent hitman won't turn down, and has yet to fail to come through on any requests.

Luke's father died before he was born, and his mother died in prison while he was just 8 years old. He spent some of his younger years in a facility before being adopted by his step-father, who then raised him to be an efficient assassin.
----
* AlmightyJanitor: He claims to be a janitor, but is actually a deadly assassin.
* DeathOrGloryAttack: Most of the time, when Luke dives you, it's either you or him that will die, as Luke cannot flee from fights nearly as well as he initiates them.
* FinishingMove: Luke's ultimate does more damage to enemies that are low on health, so it's often used in this fashion if they're out of reach for his melee attacks.
* FlashStep: One of his abilities causes him to blink behind his enemy and hit them. It always positions him to his enemy's back, depending on which direction they are facing.
* ProfessionalKiller: His real job. His janitor occupation is a cover.
* SkillGateCharacters: Luke is often a menace to inexperienced players who don't know how to counter or get away from him. However, at higher levels of play, he's one of the weaker characters due to a fairly predictable playstyle.

Magnus is the leader of the prominent motorcycle gang found across the US, Reaper's Wheel. Even before he took the helm, the group was well-known. Other gangs and bikers tried to intimidate them wherever they went, resulting in gang fights and turf wars.

Magnus, however, would always emerge victorious, no matter how many he was up against. He became a living legend amongst the bikers across the country and the rest of Reaper's Wheel. Magnus is proud of his absolute power.

He has knack for aggravating and taunting others.

His catchphrase words are "Power!" and "Persistence!"
----
* AllBikersAreHellsAngels: - while Magnus absolutely looks and acts like the part, Silvia is another motorcyclist who is instead a thin girl in a racing suit with a jacket over top.
* BoisterousBruiser: Magnus is usually spoiling for a good fight, and he's one of the tankier characters in the game.
* Combos: 17 vs 1 slows Magnus's movement speed, but it also does extra damage against slowed or immobilized enemies...and it just so happens that Broken Bullet slows enemies as long as 17 vs 1 lasts while Heavy Strike can also stun enemies struck into a wall.
* CriticalStatusBuff: His Tough Body passive causes him to gain more defense as his health decreases.
* LargeHam: Magnus tends to shout a lot in battle (at least in his Japanese dub) and his lines are full of him ChewingTheScenery.
* MadeOfExplodium: His Bike from Hell makes Pintos look safe - running into an enemy or a wall with it will cause it to violently explode and make you wonder if he stuck a closed packet of nitroglycerin in the gas tank somewhere.
* MightyGlacier: Magnus's Tough Body passive can make him hard to take down, and he can dish out plenty of damage in close combat, but his only mobility tool is his ultimate, and his bike is not designed for dodging attacks. He can use his ultimate to flee from fights or chase down an enemy, but he can't steer it well and its mobility isn't useful in enclosed spaces since it explodes if it hits a wall or enemy.
* PinnedToTheWall: Magnus's Heavy Strike is an unusual example. It knocks Magnus's target to his left and, if they hit a wall, they take more damage and are stunned.
* SpinAttack: 17 vs 1. Guess that's how he handles being outnumbered.
* StrengthEqualsWorthiness: Magnus embraces this ideology, and thus he thinks a lot of the other Test Subjects are weak cowards. That said, he greatly respects Fiora, who favors honorable combat rather than dirty tricks.

->“I… really hate doing this.”
Mai is a fashion genius. As the lead designer at the renowned and widely loved brand, David, she is an inspiration to many.

She can sometimes be a bit difficult to work with due to her maverick personality, but Mai will always try to help out, even if she seems reluctant. Those that actually get to know her usually have nothing but good things to say about her.

Rumors swirl around the office that Mai got caught up in some sort of incident, but she prefers to try to forget it entirely.
----
* BrilliantButLazy: It's hard to get Mai to do something, but when she gets to it, she strives for success.
* ClothingCombat: She is the game's second whip user, though she uses her shawl as a weapon for animations.
* FrameUp: Her data logs from Black Survival claim she was accused of murder, but indicate that she was likely framed.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: Because she's a clothing designer, she has access to some chest armor recipes that only she can create.
* HealThyself: Mai's ultimate can be used on herself to enter Stasis and heal herself a bit.
* InsufferableGenius: She's stubborn, has a very MyWayOrTheHighway mentality, and even some of the Aglaia scientists find her obnoxious. That said, she's too damn good at her designer work for people to object.
* NoSell: Mai's Shawl Veil can more-or-less negate all the damage from basic attacks while activeit actually reduces the damage per hit to 1 while active, making her strong against crit builds if she times it right. That said, Shawl Veil does not block damage-over-time effects that are attached to said basic attacks, such as the Wickeline buff. Mai can also use her ultimate to put herself in Stasis briefly, letting her avoid damage with good timing.
* TextileWorkIsFeminine: Mai is a clothing designer as her day job. This translates in-game as her being able to craft unique chest armors and gaining extra damage output based on her Defense stat.

->"To fight with honor means to only take on opponents of your own size."

Markus' driving force is to achieve the strongest body known to man, powerful enough to lift cars.

Rumor says that if you look up "strong" in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of his face!

You might mistake him for a shallow musclehead, but he has a heart of gold and would never betray anyone who trusted him.

To Markus, betraying another's honor is the most cowardly thing one can do.
----
* Combos: Even if you try to stay far away from terrain, Markus might be able to knock you into some anyway and gain full value from his passive by having full Grit, knocking you through a Tectonic Rift, attacking you, and then knocking you again into terrain that you are now too close to.
* GeoEffects: His passive is causing additional damage to targets after they are knocked into unpassable terrain (or simply forcibly moved through his ultimate's rift) and then marking them as Rattled so he can dash over to them with a basic attack and cause even more extra damage.
* GentleGiant: Markus is one of the largest Test Subjects and is a real nice guy... unless you're his enemy.
* HonorBeforeReason: Markus's bio should show he believes this, much like Fiora does.
* PickOnSomeoneYourOwnSize: His main quote shows he's a staunch believer in fighting fair, including to not pick on people smaller than him. Nothing's stopping the player from doing so, though.
* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: Markus' main schtick, moving enemies hit by a great distance whenever he has at least 50 Grit to consume on his Violent Swing and Fearless Assault abilities. Knock them into terrain to Rattle them for his passive!
* SuperStrength: A clear pattern to his abilities, hurling his enemies around after building Grit and creating a Tectonic Rift in the ground by slamming his axe against it for his ultimate.

->"I'll break every rule to find the truth. I'm a journalist, after all."

Martina takes great pride in being a journalist and a war correspondent. When it comes to her profession, she'll stop at nothing to bring the truth to light. Even in the face of war and bloodshed, her determination to capture every detail of the event stood unwavering.

She's now on Lumia Island, a place that sees war every day. With so many mysteries to uncover, her tape will continue rolling even if it means dirtying her hands with the blood of others.
----
* CoolOldLady: Martina looks significantly older than any of the other female Test SubjectsHer exact age is currently unknown, yet she can still throw down with the best of them.
* IntrepidReporter: Martina's a war correspondent who's been in more than a few life-and-death situations.
* MagikarpPower: Martina starts out fairly weak, but can upgrade her entire kit by making use of her ultimate to acquire Record stacks. Once she has 10 stacks, she enters Broadcast Mode and all of her abilities evolve, giving her a significant power spike.
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: She's the game's second Camera user, alongside Nathapon. She also attacks differently from many other characters, making use of a gauge that only lets her attack for a quick burst before requiring a recharge.
* WeaponizedCamera: Like Nathapon, Martina is a Camera user. Hers is more of the news broadcast type, though.

->"With a bow in my hands, I won't miss."

A sudden landslide occurred when Nadine was only 4 years old, resulting in the loss of both of her parents. She was the sole survivor, ultimately being rescued and raised by wild animals. Authorities declared her dead, but she was found 8 years later by a hunter, giving her a chance at a new life as a human. To this day, she struggles to live in normalcy, hesitating on even the most trivial of tasks.

Nadine is claustrophobic due to her deep-seated memory of being buried.

She will overthink situations to the point of freezing, but has a façade of indifference to hide it.
----
* AdaptationalCurves: Nadine's Howling Spirit skin shows she's at least a DD-cup, which is bigger than she ever was in the original Black Survival.
* ChargedAttack: Nadine's Q is this, building up range and damage as she charges.
* Claustrophobia: While not a factor in-game, Nadine's bio and data logs from Black Survival show she's cripplingly afraid of enclosed spaces.
* DifficultButAwesome: Nadine lacks durability and hard CC's (besides her Crossbow weapon skill), and if she hasn't built up enough Wild stacks by late-game, she'll fall behind in damage output. This can lead to some opponents predicting where she will frequently roam in order to hunt animals, which can lead to her getting ambushed. Alternatively, her opponents could kill the animals before she can get to them, starving her of Wild stacks. Proper positioning is also critical for her; if an enemy closes the gap on her, she's in a lot of trouble. If mastered, however, Nadine can be extremely potent, able to deal huge amounts of damage at long range, provided she can land her shots (easier said than done against an aware opponent).
** The real difficulty with Nadine is that she requires extensive knowledge and mastery of the game's mechanics to play her effectively. One has to juggle hunting animals, cooking food, transitioning to stronger items, and being in position to contest objectives (which she's poor at early on), all while not getting caught out of position or running into someone who could easily defeat her before she hits her stride. And one can't do the same strategy every single game due to how area restriction and loot is randomized, and due to how opponents in general are unpredictable, meaning the player must know how to adapt and quickly change their plans if things go badly. Even if all of this is done, Nadine is one of the squishier characters in the game with only one mobility tool for escaping trouble, so even a slight mistake in positioning could spell her undoing. And even if played very well, some opponents are simply bad match-ups for her, such as Danielhis Nearsight and ultimate heavily counter Nadine's kit, Tonfa Hyunwoohe can instantly kill Nadine if he wall-pins her, and can reflect a large amount of her burst damage right back at her, or ChloeNadine's ultimate is virtually useless if Chloe uses her own, and Nadine cannot outrun Chloe and Nina even if she goes over a wall.
* GlassCannon: Nadine can dish out a load of damage, but she can't take it very well.
* HiddenBuxom: She's normally covered by the cloak she wears, but her Howling Spirit skin shows she's quite well-endowed (albeit not as big as Chloe, Aya, Jenny, or Sua).
* MagikarpPower: Nadine's Wild mechanic allows her to do staggering amounts of damage if she farms up enough kills on wild animals, but she's weak early on as a result.
* PerfectHealth: Nadine is being studied by Aglaia due to her heightened immune system, as she's never gotten sick in her life.
* PinnedToTheWall: Nadine's Crossbow weapon skill can do this, stunning enemies if it knocks them into a wall.
* RaisedByWolves: Well, more by animals in general, but she's a clear example of the trope.
* TooHungryToBePolite: One small pre-match snippet says that due to how she was raised by animals, Nadine doesn't exactly know table manners. It's not that she's trying to be rude, but she just thinks everything is finger food.
* Underboobs: Featured in her Howling Spirit skin.

->"Everyone's got their own reasons for traveling."

A nomadic photographer, Nathapon wanders from place to place, rarely staying for long.

He is often quickly accepted into new places and cultures he visits, thanks in part to his overt optimism and sociability.

Even with his abounding charisma, Nathapon is very reluctant to form deep, lasting relationships with people - always leaving places, and his "friends", behind to travel and discover new scenery.

Those who have shared hostels with Nathapon reported that he'd, on occasion, suddenly wake up and silently stare at his photo albums.
----
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: Nathapon fights with a camera for his attacks, which fixes his basic attacks to a slow speed and renders them unable to CriticalHit. He is also presently the only character in the game who can inflict Stasis.
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: Nathapon was taught photography by Silvia's mother, according to his lore from the original Black Survival.
* WeaponizedCamera: Nathapon's able to use his camera as a deadly weapon, somehow.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: Nathapon's Panorama can be used to force an opponent back to a specific spot if it hits them. It also greatly increases his attack range when he attacks an enemy marked by Panorama.

->"What?! Leave me alone! .... phew okay. What's up?"

Nicky is a stunt actress who possesses immense strength despite her small stature and cute looks. Just don't call her cute, she hates that.

She's always acting tough - even if she's embarrassed, but her facial expressions always give her away. (There's a reason she's a STUNT actress, after all)

Nicky seems a little rough around the edges, but she's always there to care those in need of help.

She also never forgets a face, but isn't so good with names, often putting her in awkward situations or causing her to call a lot of people "buddy" or "dude".
----
* ChargedAttack: Nicky's Slugfest can dash farther and do more damage the longer it is charged.
* CooldownManipulation: Hit Slugfest to get back half of its cooldown. Get damaged while using Guard & Reverse to get back 30% of its cooldown. Guard & Reverse can also be used to bypass the 1.5 second lockout from gaining rage again after Nicky is calmed down, as getting damaged while using Guard & Reverse will always enrage Nicky.
* CounterAttack: Nicky's Guard & Reverse lets her block a large amount of damage and, if it successfully blocks an attack, causes her to deliver a counter in the direction she's facing. Successfully blocking an attack also fills her Rage meter to full and reduces the cooldown of Guard & Reverse.
* CuteBruiser: So cute that she's got a bit of a complex from labelled as such while she's also an effective stunt actress whose kit is based around punching (and a bit of blocking). Her passive's icon exemplifies this trope, with it being one of the cutesy cat icons she wears except it's steaming up in anger.
* DashAttack: Nicky's Slugfest and Pure Rage Uppercut!! abilities are this, Pure Rage Uppercut!! especially since it is targeted directly onto a player. Slugfest must be aimed and therefore doesn't have to necessarily be used in this manner, but doing so and hitting an enemy with it will refund half of its cooldown.
* DentedIron: - even with Nicky's athlethicism, she seems to be wearing a knee brace, likely caused by something from her stunt work. Of course, this doesn't prevent her from Dash Attacking through walls in the slightest...
* DifficultButAwesome: Nicky's kit might seem simplistic and easy-to-use at first, but she is extremely reliant on successfully blocking attacks with Guard & Reverse in order to fill up her Rage and compensate for her otherwise mediocre durability. If she mistimes a block, she becomes very vulnerable until she can use her block again (and the cooldown is longer if she doesn't block successfully). The difficulty comes when she is pitted against high-skill players who know how to bait out her blocks. If she can successfully block her opponents, she can end up stunlocking them almost non-stop if they don't stop attacking or can't stop damaging her. This makes her deadly against opponents like Eleven (her ultimate's "immolation" effect will trigger Nicky's block), Eva (her VF Bead does the same and triggers when Eva is attacked), Nadine (her Wolf Assault's "projectile" is slow), Rio (Rio won't survive a combo from Nicky), Assault Rifle users (due to how many projectiles they fire in a burst), etc.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: Nicky's fighting style is all about punching people, though her gameplay obviously differs from the other fist-users.
* HairTriggerTemper: Nicky is very easily set off, with a passive named Short Tempered, and is currently the only character in the game to use the Rage resource.
* HiddenBuxom: Nicky's base and Alleycat skins make her look flat-chested, but her beach skin shows she's modestly endowed.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Nicky might react kinda badly to being called cute, but she's more of a Tsundere that's easily embarrassed rather than genuinely outraged and has a good heart when you get down to it. This can be seen in Eva's tutorial mission, where Nicky does a HeroicSacrifice by throwing Eva out of the restricted area they were in.
* LightningBruiser: Nicky is mobile, can dish out quite a bit of punishment, and can block a lot of incoming damage when played right. That said, without using her Guard & Reverse, her durability is mediocre-at-best.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: She looks pretty waifish, but she's incredibly strong according to her bio.
* TheNapoleon: She doesn't like being considered cute and her height doesn't help her in that department, plus she has a HairTriggerTemper.
* PointlessBandAid: Might be wearing two of these on one of her legs, though considering her other leg is wearing a velcro brace around her thigh and knee, she might actually be using those band-aids as intended too.
* SuperMode: Being enraged temporarily increases her attack speed and basic damage damage a bit and makes her able to use either her ultimate or Fury Jab!!
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: She might be a punchy and improbably strong stunt actress, but the pigtails going down to her knees covered in hair decs and bows and generally wearing a number of icons of a cat's face definitely makes it hard to outright describe her style of dress as tomboyish.
* Tsundere: Her attitude and bio show she's definitely the case. The description of her preview video even used the infamous Tsundere turn of phrase.
* UnstoppableRage: Damaging her enough or hitting her Guard & Reverse.

->"No time for self pity. Just gotta look forward."

Piolo, who grew up orphaned in the slums, knew only of the harshest circumstances.

Feeling like he had no choice, Piolo spent his adolescence committing petty crimes with a local gang to make ends meet. One day, despite his antics, the owner of a neighborhood gym not only took pity on Piolo but saw hope in him. She trained him into a strong fighter, capable of defending himself and those in need. Since then, Piolo was able to turn his life around.

Now, Piolo is back in tough times as he heads to Lumia Island to participate in the experiment.

Will he be able to overcome yet another hardship?
----
* BruceLeeClone: - his hair isn't quite spot-on and his clothes don't really resemble any outfit Creator/BruceLee is known for, but his nunchuck skills and one-inch punch animation for his Well-Trained basic attack rather implies Creator/BruceLee's influence.
* Combos: His abilities' crowd-control effects help him land his other abilities, and the mobility in them help him stay close to his targets to land more abilities which gives him access to his ultimate that reduces his other cooldowns so he can start doing that all again.
* CooldownManipulation: for the most part. Piolo's cooldowns are unaffected by cooldown reduction bonuses from equipment (he instead converts it to bonus attack speed), but his ultimate allows him to reduce his cooldowns (except for his weapon skill) by 1 second each time he hits an enemy with a basic attack after using it. This is enough for Piolo to be almost never be unable to use some sort of skill as long as he's successfully using his basic skills to grant him Focus to use his ultimate.
* CriticalHitClass: - he's guaranteed to land a critical strike when he uses a basic attack after using his ultimate and he's rested enough to gain stacks of his Well-trained passive, but it's really just some useful extra damage rather than something to build around.
* DashAttack: His ultimate, The Punisher, has him dash along a line performing a shoulder charge.
* DefendCommand: Basically his Figure Eight skill, which will prevent him from attack or use any other skills during its duration. In return, he is Unstoppable during that duration and he will be shielded afterward based off of projectiles deflected as well as damage taken.
* FitnessNut: He trains incessantly given that he "rests" by doing one-handed push-ups even while his life is a risk in a battle royale. His passive Well-trained encourages this by granting him stacks that will cause an automatic CriticalHit with his next basic attack after he uses his ultimate.
* GatheringSteam: Piolo can not use his ultimate until after he's successfully used his basic abilities to gain Focus - these basic abilities also have the disadvantage of inherently slowing him while in use. After he's gotten Focus from all of though, Piolo will be dashing around and doing his skills all over again.
* ImprovisedTraining: A lot of his voicelines while moving around locations has him voice a multitude of ways someone can make due for physical training without a budget.
* LightningBruiser: A bit less so while he's first using his basic abilities that are slowing himself while in use, but after successfully doing that, Piolo will have a shield, two sources of mobility available at once and can pour on the damage by [[CooldownManipulation almost never being unable to cast some sort of skill].
* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: His Skyward Pummel is aptly named - it'll send enemies hit up into the air for a half-second.
* ReformedCriminal: A gym owner helped him turn his life around from a petty criminal in a gang. A voiceline while at the church will have him express an "old habit" of noting a plate looks expensive, with him obviously used to casing for theft.
* RuggedScar: Has a few neat lines of scars on his face, arm, and chest.
* SpinAttack: Helicopter Spin has him perform the titular nunchucks technique. Hammer Throw (unlike the track and field event) has him perform a spin with his nunchucks while flipping his head down while jumping upward and forward. Skyward Pummel has him do a quick spin after he swings nunchucks upward.
* SpinToDeflectStuff: His Figure Eight skill has him do this for its duration, deflecting projectiles entirely while he uses it.
* SwordAndFist: His basic attacks are normally swings with his nunchucks, but when benefitting from Well-Trained, he performs a one-inch punch with his left hand.
* SupernaturalMartialArts: His Helicopter Spin goes so fast that anyone within its near-semicircle distance will be hit and doesn't stop on a single target. It also spreads out to such a distance from his center that is about his entire height! His Chokeslam apparently puts out a large shockwave that will damage enemies even not within the area that he slams his nunchucks directly onto. Skyward Pummel can send even large bears flying skyward for a half-second. And of course, he can SpinToDeflectStuff all around him for Figure Eight's duration.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Not as much as Jan, but he wears his vest open to expose his abs and scarred chest.
* WorkingClassHero: It is abundantly clear from his voicelines that he's quite familiar with subsisting and yet still constantly training for martial arts with very little. Turning from a life of petty crime hasn't exactly paid him better.
* VariableLengthChain: His Stalled Throw ability gains more range as he spins it around to channel it - and accordingly, the length of his nunchucks will extend farther with that additional range.

->"I hope everyone can hear my songs..."

Priya’s singing voice holds a mysterious power. When she sings, flowers bloom and trees grow tall. But due to this power, Priya ended up held in captivity. However, that didn't sway her admiration for the wonders of the world.

The world is a strange yet exciting place for Priya; all she sees are endless possibilities for her grand adventure. Under the starry sky, Priya prays that one day, she will be allowed to sing freely.
----
* Combos: Her Blossoming Melody and Portamento help create a Flower of Saraswati which blooms after a second. After blooming, the flowers do something new after using Blossoming Melody, Portamento and Echoes of the Earth; respectively causing damage and knocking back enemies around the flower, creating a shield on herself and allies, and creating a fruit that will heal herself or allies when they run over them. The knockback caused by Blossoming Melody on flowers and the slow by Portamento also helps Priya keep enemies in the right place for landing Harmony of Parvati or Echoes of the Earth on them.
* TheCutie: Priya is a textbook example with being a delightful, kindly girl who frequently hums or sings sweetly for her voicelines while moving, and seems rather confused while in the midst of the dead test subjects.
* FlowersOfFemininity: This sweet and innocent girl wears a crown of flowers, and it's even the only headwear item she can ever wear - her passive causes it to improve as her passive reaches higher levels.
* GreenThumb: Priya's powers allow her to make plants grow as she sings. Her ultimate takes this up a notch by causing large roots to sprout out of the ground and causing any Flowers of Saraswati affected by them to bore a fruit.
* HealThyself: Priya's ultimate spawns fruit that she or her allies can pick up to heal themselves.
* MusicalAssassin: Much like Hart, Priya is a guitar user - though technically, her instrument is a sitar.

->"Arrows will pierce the lies."

Rio is a high school student and an outstanding member of her school's Kyudo club.

She was a natural archer and always faced her target with incredible posture and poise.

Her peers have had trouble approaching and befriending her due to her cold looks, composed attitude, and straightforward, blunt way of speaking.

The truth is that she's just a normal awkward high school student who loves cute things and is excited to talk about things she loves.

Before her final archery competition as a student, she suddenly vanished - and hasn't competed since.
----
* AdaptationalCurves: Rio's various skins show she's bustier than she was in the original Black Survival, with her Summertime skin showing just how well-endowed she is.
* AwesomeButImpractical: Rio's Spirit Arrow has global range, deals reasonable damage, and applies a massive slow to whatever it hits. Unfortunately, the long wind-up makes it fairly easy to dodge and there's very little practical use for a global range skillshot in most of Eternal Return's gameplay.
* CooldownManipulation: Hitting enemies with Hanare while in Daikyu mode reduces Rio's cooldowns.
* CutenessProximity: Her bio indicates this, and she's rather fond of cats.
* DifficultButAwesome: While Rio's abilities aren't too hard to learn, she is extremely dependent on good positioning and zone control. Using her range and Flow mechanics is crucial to keep her from being an easy kill, and even a slight mistake in a fight can spell her undoing. If melee opponents are able to reach her or surprise her, she goes down very quickly. When used optimally, however, Rio can do a ton of consistent damage at long range while kiting any enemies who try to close in on her.
* FragileSpeedster: Rio can be pretty mobile, but she's also squishy.
* GlassCannon: Rio can output a lot of damage, but can't take much in return.
* KindheartedCatLover: As a loading screen tip relates, Rio especially loves "chonker" cats.
* HiddenBuxom: Rio's shirt in her base skin is loose, hiding her bust size. Her various skins, however, make it apparent that she's more buxom than she was in Black Survival.
* MagicalGirl: Rio's "Magical Girl" skins are obviously this.
* MagicSkirt: No matter how many flips or jumps she performs, her base skin's skirt never shows what's underneath. Same goes for her "Magical Girl Rio" skins, which also include ZettaiRyouiki for additional Fanservice.
* MasterArcher: Her title is "The Archery Ace", and she lives up to the title with her skills.
* Miko: Rio's Shrine Maiden skin is this.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Rio's only 18 and her hair is white as snow.
* PinnedToTheWall: The second half of Rio's Fleeting Soul will stun her enemy if she knocks them into a wall.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Rio's eyes are yellow, but it's debatable whether she has any special powers besides her archery skill and acrobatic abilities.
* WeakButSkilled: Rio is very fragile when compared to the rest of the cast, and she doesn't appear to have super-strength or special powers. However, her talent with a bow speaks for itself, especially when in a skilled player's hands. In-game, Rio is also someone who generally has to whittle her enemies down over time, and cannot quickly burst-kill her opponentsAssuming all else equal since she cannot actually land critical hits (her crit chance and crit damage bonuses instead increase her damage by a percentage).
* WillNotTellALie: Rio's data logs from Black Survival show she values the truth a great deal, and does not like liars.

->"You've done well."

Rozzi trained as a mercenary from a very young age by a militant group.

She has grown an integral member of the mercenary organization known as Corda D’arco (Bowstring).

Shrouded in secrecy, she's led national intelligence operations and exclusive requests from multinational corporations.

Rozzi gained a reputation of excelling at commanding and has an unparalleled ability to stay calm and devise the best tactics in unanticipated situations.

Her icy facial expressions and personality make her unapproachable - to her benefit. She has no interest in forming close relationships with anyone; there is no permanence in her operations.

Rumors swirl around the enigmatic Rozzi, some say she is seeking information about a cooperative from her former organization.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Rozzi's design has the motif of a moth with her cape resembling a moth's curved wings and an ability named Flutter.
* CoatCape: Her wardrobe is arguably this.
* Combos: Rozzi's ultimate does much better when she lands her basic abilities (rather than just her basic attacks) on the target after she sticks them with her Semtex Bomb Mk II, causing it to detonate sooner, deal more damage, and give her a brief boost in movement speed.
* CooldownManipulation: Easy Shot reduces its cooldown by two seconds just from hitting it, and Semtex Bomb Mk II reduces its cooldown by 45% if it explodes early.
* FragileSpeedster: Rozzi definitely has a lot of mobility tricks up her sleeve, but she's not that durable and doesn't cause a lot damage quickly at once - but that's not a huge issue for her when she moves around with every use of her basic ability and causes her shots to do more damage after every ability used.
* GunsAkimbo: She dual-wields her pistols in battle.
* GunFu: Rozzi is certainly the most acrobatic of the pistol users in Eternal Return with every successful use of her basic abilities causing her to dash about.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: Her hair is almost always covering her right eye. In the original Black Survival, this concealed that she had an eyepatch over her right eye (which she lost in a previous mission), but in Eternal Return she has both eyes intact.
* IWillFindYou: Rozzi came to Lumia Island looking for Isol, but he doesn't recognize her from their past.
* IWorkAlone: Due to being betrayed and left for dead in the past, Rozzi does not make a point of forming close relationships with others.
* MultiDirectionalBarrage: Her Flutter ability has her spin backwards while shooting the entire time.
* MsFanservice: She's busty, curvy, and outfitted in a form-fitting leotard in her base skin. Her Black Rose skin also adds ZettaiRyouiki to the mix, while her Elite Executioner skin has a CleavageWindow and JigglePhysics.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Chocolate. Eating chocolate-based items or drinking chocolate-based beverages restores HP and MP simultaneously, and her first playable voiceline has her extol the benefits of chocolate before stopping herself for getting off track.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Rozzi is only 20, but looks like she's in her late-20's or early-30's.

->"So, how much is this job worth?"

Shoichi was just your regular everyday salaryman in Japan, watching the days pass by from his office chair.

However, his life took a turn after the unexpected death of his wife from a congenital heart disease. Due to a lack of funds, Shoichi was unable to get her proper treatment and blames himself for her untimely death. Determined to protect his daughter, who inherited the disease from her mother, Shoichi decided that he would do absolutely anything to afford her preventive care.

He has a smooth tongue and can discuss high-class matters with ease. He prefer to drink tea rather than coffee, but believes that drinking tea is seen as... kinda lame.
----
* EvilPaysBetter: Shoichi's bio and data logs show he primarily cares about getting paid so he can treat his daughter's disease, so he willingly participates in Aglaia's questionable experiments in exchange for monetary reward.
* FlashStep: Shoichi's kit allows him to blink to his thrown knives, making him highly evasive in fights.
* FlechetteStorm: His kit revolves around throwing knives at his enemies and using them to spam his blinks.
* FragileSpeedster: Shoichi's FlashStep mechanics make him highly evasive, but he generally can't take hits well and has no innate sustain or defensive self-buffs.
* PunchClockVillain: He's betrayed and murdered in his criminal activities, which he only does for monetary gain to be able to afford medical care for his sickly daughter.
* StormOfBlades: Shoichi's ultimate throws four blades out for him to use with his blinks. What follows is a large chain of knife throws that can quickly kill anyone who doesn't outright flee from the ultimate's area-of-effect.
* YouRemindMeOfX: In lore, Shoichi is often nice toward Sissela because she reminds him of his daughter.

->"Whoa, that looks fun!"

Silvia was raised by her grandfather - her parents were never really around. Her mother is a wandering photographer and there is nothing known about her father. She doesn't value making or maintaining relationships - her focus is on living in the now.

One of the biggest motives for her becoming a motorcycle racer was the thrill of the race.

Silvia excites easily and acts emotionally without thinking ahead. She gained fame among motorcycle racing circuits for riding dangerously and recklessly, paying no mind to the consequences.

"Time to race!"
----
* CarFu: Silvia's skills while on her bike are pretty much just doing a bunch of motorcycle stunt tricks all over your face.
* HitAndRunTactics: Silvia is best played in this fashion, harassing her enemy until they're low enough for her to dive onto them with her bike to finish them off.
* MagikarpPower: Silvia's trait gives her bonuses to her offensive stats for each zone on Lumia Island she visits. If she visits every zone (except the Research Center), the bonus is further increased. This is much easier said than done, especially if zones get restricted quickly or she ends up accosted by another player.
* NavelDeepNeckline: She wears her riding suit zipped down to her midriff, despite that she's pretty small in the bust department.
* ThrillSeeker: Silvia is all about having fun, regardless of the risks or consequences.

->"Life is an agony. Only more agony awaits to greet me."

Suffering from an incurable disease affecting only a hundred in the world, Sissela has been hospitalized since her diagnosis at a very young age. Despite the uncountable attempts to free herself from her extreme and constant pain, she couldn’t easily end her life.

A rare specimen in medicine, she was supported with experimental treatments and fully paid medical bills. To her, it seems that she is being kept alive merely for the sake of continuing research.

She is often expressionless, and does not talk much. Often isolated, she habitually draws faces on things and gives them names to talk to them. She feels pretty awkward talking to other people.

"There's no escape now."
----
* AlwaysAccurateAttack: If you're in the same zone as Sissela when she uses her ultimate (or within a certain radius of her), it's going to hit you.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: Sissela is only 16, making her tied with Isol as the youngest playable character in the game.
* CompanionCube: She mostly deals with these instead of people. She appears to have a transparent balloon with a face drawn on it that is used for many of her abilities...which, in English, is named Wilson.
* CriticalStatusBuff: Sissela gains bonus health regeneration and spell amplification based on her missing health.
* TheEeyore: Sissela's quote above should about cover it.
* HitAndRunTactics: Sissela is poor in a straight fight, but she's a good harasser since her skills make diving her extremely perilous.
* SweetTooth: Sissela has one. One of her past doctors would often bring her candy.
* WhyWontYouDie: Sissela's trait gives her bonus health regeneration (and spell amplification) as her HP gets lower. When combined with her ability to become briefly untargetable and invulnerable, she becomes annoyingly difficult for some opponents to finish off.

->"I'll read you a fairy tale."

A librarian at a local library, Sua hardly ever took a day off.

Where else would she rather be than surrounded by all the literary greats? She voluntarily covered her co-worker's shifts - well before they even had time to ask her.

Sua is an idealist, a gentle optimist, and is always seen with a smile.

Although very modest, Sua is remarkably talented.

Her memory, especially when it comes to literature and narratives, is nearly perfect - even down to the word.

Sua can almost always be found with a book in her hand, even when she's not at work!
----
* AdaptationalCurves: While she's already quite busty in the original Black Survival, she's presently the second-bustiest character in the roster in Eternal Return, only outdone by Jenny, and is quite a bit bigger than in the former game. Her beach skin shows just how big her breasts are.
* BadassBookworm: She loves to read, and she can still kick your ass with her hammer.
* CooldownManipulation: Sua's trait lets her reduce her basic ability cooldowns by landing basic attacks after she uses an ability. This allows her to spam her abilities very frequently.
* CuteBookworm: She loves books, and she's considered one of the more attractive Test Subjects.
* DashAttack: Sua can do two of them in quick succession with her E and R, and both have considerable range (but can't go over walls).
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Sua's green eyes have shamrock pupils.
* LongHairIsFeminine: Sua is both one of the most demure and kindly character on the roster, and her hair is so long that it goes about to her knees.
* MagikarpPower: Sua starts off relatively weak and the routes she needs to take to get her items finished tend to be bad, allowing other players to ambush her early on. If she gets her kit together, however, she becomes a terror in later parts of the game due to her crowd control spam, self-healing, high durability, and due to being hard to punish.
* MostCommonSuperpower: Along with her magic, Sua is the second-bustiest character in Eternal Return at present, despite how conservatively she dresses.
* PhotographicMemory: Her bio and data logs from Black Survival show she is an extreme case of this, being able to remember anything she's read perfectly.

----
* Combos: The Glass Shards that Tazia leaves around from hitting Stiletto/Spada and Fiasco are key to her usage - moving over them or shattering them with Pulizia stacks up her Shard Collection which allows her to use Spada after being stacked up. Shattering them with Pulizia grants Tazia a shield and causes damage to enemies around Tazia's location (shielding and damaging for more for each Glass Shard shattered by Pulizia) as well as allowing Pulizia to be used one more time while its cooldown counts down. For every Glass Shard that Paradiso shatters while it lands, its explosion (which is instantly triggered if the Paradiso sword is hit by Stiletto/Spada after its minimum one-second lifetime) will cause more damage. Spada's knockback can be used to help Tazia place Fiasco or Paradiso directly onto a would-be moving target, and Fiasco's stun can also help the same for Paradiso.
* EccentricArtist: She's not as bad as Daniel, but she is clearly a high-strung sort of person who is quite devoted to her artistic process.
* FieryRedhead: , Tazia is more of a lonely downer.
* ReclusiveArtist: InUniverse example, Tazia clearly prefers to keep away from others, detesting scrutiny. Correspondingly, she finds the nigh-solitude of Lumia Island to be quite liberating.
* SpamAttack: With Stiletto holding up to four charges with a pretty low cooldown in addition to her Artigianato passive always providing a separate Spada ability while having a full four stacks of Shard Collection, Stiletto and Fiasco providing Glass Shards for her to pick up by movement or Pulizia, Tazia will have to be missing a lot to ever be rendered totally unable to use her abilities - usually, Stiletto or Spada will at least be available to her. On that note, one should definitely be using the Vampiric Bloodline augment while playing her.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Hers are yellow and she has the power to manipulate glass. She typically uses this power to create floating blades.
* ThePowerOfGlass: Her day job was a glass artist...now she summons glass swords on Lumia.

----
* BFG: Theodore's railgun is about as long as he is tall, and easily about 2/3rd's his size total.
* CooldownManipulation: Basic attacks reduces his Energy Cannon's cooldown as well as his other basic skills to a much smaller degree. These reductions increase with his passive.
* Combos: Theodore's Power Screen is meant to be used with his other basic skills - striking it with Energy Cannon will cause it to shoot out another Energy Cannon ray right from the center of its facing, but because of it being unable to be rotated or moved, the Power Screen's ray is easily dodged...which is why Sparknade should also used to mark and root an enemy in front of Power Screen.
* FriendlySniper: - he exudes an air of melancholy, but he's decently personable, liked playing baseball with a team, and his voicelines for using his skills as well as his background clearly indicates he worked with others for his sniper job.
* GlassCannon: Theodore literally cannot gain more health from equipment, which is instead converted into attack speed.
* HealingShiv: His Energy Cannon skill heals allies as well as himself in addition to it, well, killing people like one would expect.
* RealMenLoveJesus: Moving around in the Church region clearly indicates that he's religious.
* StealthExpert: Theodore's passive Sapphire Protocol turns him invisible when he leaves brush.
* WaveMotionGun: Theodore's railgun fires large blasts of energy.

->"Is there... something you'd like me to paint?"
Tia is nothing short of a brilliant artist. Outside of her art, she has a tendency to be easily frightened and is intimidated by even the smallest matters.

She can experience emotions from colors and art and is able to express those feelings to others through her craft. She has a knack for still life paintings - and is somehow able to, seemingly literally, bring those paintings to life.

Tia went missing after giving a painting lesson to children, but investigators and her peers assumed that she'd merely ran away to free herself from her strict family.
----
* ArtAttacker: Tia's weapon is that giant paintbrush of hers and her ability to bring her paintings to life.
* ArtInitiatesLife: A non-villainous version, Tia's VF powers let her animate her paintings.
* Combos: Tia achieves different effects based on which of her three colors she mixes when attacking enemies.

->"I am as free as a butterfly."
Vanya always dreamt of a world of fantasy—a place she could truly feel at peace. All she wanted was to sit by the beach at sunrise, watching the clear skies, eating ice cream without a care in the world.

But the real world kept her chained to the ground.

No matter what treatment she tried, her legs couldn't be fixed, and her family kept her locked away under the guise of "protection from the harsh world."

Vanya was willing to give up everything to escape her oppressive and frustrating reality.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Butterflies. Between her wings and attacks, it's fairly obvious.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: Vanya is tied with Isol and Sissela at being one of the youngest playable characters at age 16.
* DeathByAThousandCuts: Vanya cannot burst enemies down and relies on applying a damage-over-time effect on enemies to whittle down their health.
* ForcedSleep: Vanya's ultimate ability causes this to enemies it hits after a 2.25 second delay. Enemies that are struck while asleep will wake up and take bonus damage.
* HandicappedBadass: Vanya's bio states that she is a paraplegic, yet this doesn't stop her from being a deadly combatant. Strangely, she can still walk even without using her wings.
* LightningBruiser: Vanya has good mobility, can take reasonable punishment thanks to her shields, and can still dish it back fairly well.

->"I won't let them off the hook."

While a pitcher in the Major Leagues, William Benson was a superstar.

He practiced diligently and managed a strict routine to become the best possible pitcher he could be, often taking on responsibility for everything within the game.

He took this responsibility to great lengths, which led to conflict between him and his teammates and family - notably his younger brother.

The bad blood that he had with his brother grew to damage his reputation, and William was even accused of match fixing - leading to a rather disgraceful exit from the baseball world.

William practically disappeared for three years following his expulsion.
----
* DeathFromAbove: William leaps into the air for his Signature Fireball ultimate before throwing one hell of a pitch to a location on the ground.
* ImprobableSportsSkills: This is about his entire skillset. Windup is a PrecisionGuidedBoomerang that heads back to him despite being a baseball, Sliding Catch allows him to slide through walls or rivers, Signature Fireball sees him jumping over twice his height and leaving a large baseball-shaped crater with his throw's impact to the ground...which somehow bursts out into four other baseballs around it. His basic attacks somehow being competitive with others' guns or arrows are at least a matter of ArbitraryGunPower.
* PrecisionGuidedBoomerang: His Windup skill throws a baseball forward in a line which will then return to him no matter where he goes before it makes it back to him.
* SiblingRivalry: With his brother, Rosaliowho presently isn't in Eternal Return, especially after Rosalio took William's girlfriend.
* SlideAttack: - his Sliding Catch is Slide Defense, sliding over to a baseball on the ground and increasing his Defense stat.
* WeaponizedBall: He's able to throw deadly baseballs at his enemies.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: His skills are...somehow all just about baseballs. Throw baseballs harder and faster, throw a returning baseball forward in a line and manifest a pitching mound, slide over to a baseball on the ground nearby, jump up in the air and then throw a baseball to a spot really hard (causing it to burst into four baseballs around it).

->"Stop gazing, or I will fill that dumpling with you."

Xiukai is a Chinese cook running his own small restaurant in Daegu, South Korea.

He used to be a cook for one of the closest associates of a high-ranking government official. His connections, and pockets, ran deep.

After his boss was disposed of overnight, he escaped to South Korea.

He claims that he was once skinny with an elegant posture...

He is good at controlling himself, taking from his experience serving his former boss.

"Okay, let's get cookin'"
----
* AchillesHeel: Because Xiukai's durability revolves around his high HP pool, attacks that deal a percentage of his health are more effective against him than most.
* Acrofatic: Despite being rather rotund, he's surprisingly more mobile than he looks.
* AsianCleaverFever: If played in his Dagger style, Xiukai wields a cleaver.
* CastFromHitpoints: Xiukai's abilities all have health costs instead of mana costs. Thanks to his high HP and tendency to cook a lot of healing items, this seldom becomes an issue in later parts of a match.
* ChefOfIron: Xiukai is both a master chef and a strong fighter once he builds up his passive. His passive also causes any food or beverages he crafts to be 30% stronger than normal.
* Combos: Xiukai's ultimate reduces his enemy's defense if it hits them while their movement is impaired, and his E also knocks enemies airborne if they have impaired movement. His Q and W both provide good means of slowing the enemy, with his W's slow lasting a long time if it hits an already slowed enemy, ensuring they'll probably take the full effect of his ultimate.
* DifficultButAwesome: Xiukai's abilities aren't that hard to learn, but his passive mechanic requires a thorough knowledge of food recipes and spots to find ingredients. This is coupled with his weak early game and need to craft a lot of food to reach his full potential, meaning players need to know how to change plans on the fly if he runs into trouble, and require him to avoid contesting rare resources (i.e. Tree of Life, Meteorites) early on. He also uses his health for ability costs instead of mana, so improper use of them could make him easier for the enemy to take down (not helped by the fact that he's the largest Test Subject in the game so far, and thus easier to hit with skillshots), and his almost non-existent mana regeneration requires him to carry at least a few beverages in order to perform various actions (i.e. searching containers, crafting, using the Hyperloop, etc). If he builds up his passive to full strength, however, he's one of the most powerful late-game characters around, able to take a lot of punishment and dish out devastating damage, all while having a plethora of enhanced food items to keep himself healthy.
* FryingPanOfDoom: Xiukai's giant wok is part of his arsenal.
* MagikarpPower: Xiukai's mechanics make him weak in the early game, but as he keeps cooking food, he gets stronger and stronger. If he makes it to late-game, Xiukai often becomes extremely deadly while also being very tough to kill.
* MightyGlacier: Xiukai's trait allows him to increase his maximum health by cooking food items, which can turn him into one of the tankiest characters in the game. However, he's also the largest Test Subject in the game, making him much easier to hit. Also, despite his dash, his mobility is only decent-at-best.

->"Is there anything I can do for you?"

A sharp high school student, Yuki is a member of the kendo club with flawless demeanor and decorum.

He never loses his composure and takes on new challenges with the confidence of a seasoned vet.

His perfectionism is sturdy, yet fragile, like a fortress of ice and glass.

"Ah, now it's my turn."
----
* ArmorPiercingAttack: His cufflink mechanic allows him to deal significant bursts of true damage, which ignore all defenses. This makes Yuki particularly deadly against squishier opponents. His ultimate also does a lot of true damage that's based on his enemy's maximum health.
* CloseRangeCombatant: Outside of his ultimate, Yuki generally doesn't have much reach to his kit. That said, his dash and high base movement speed make him one of the most infamous chasers in the game.
* CooldownManipulation: Yuki's W speeds up the cooldown of his E. He'll often do this while chasing someone, making him very difficult to outrun if his target can't go over a wall.
* DashAttack: Yuki's E is this, and it also disarms his enemies if he hits them. It can't go through walls, though.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Yuki once made a comment toward Rio's cooking that offended the latter because he was trying to sugarcoat his critique. She doesn't like him as a result, and he has no idea why.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: Wields a katana when using two-handed swords.
* ThePerfectionist: Yuki's bio and small in-game tidbits paint him as this.
* ShoutOut: Yuki bears more than a little resemblance to Kirito.
* SkillGateCharacters: Yuki can feel oppressive to newer players due to his strong chase abilities, multiple crowd controls and reasonably good defenses. Against pro players, however, Yuki's predictability and inability to go over walls makes him much less of a threat. That said, in wide open areas without walls for his enemies to jump over for escaping (such as Beach or Forest), Yuki can chase and catch just about anyone who doesn't have strong disengage tools, such as Jenny, Silvia, Adriana, or Hyejin.
* YouAreAlreadyDead: Yuki's ultimate deals a large percentage of his enemies' maximum health as true damage after the initial hit. If you're too low, your fate is basically sealed if he hits you with it.

After escaping from an orphanage at a young age, Zahir found himself lost and starving. He arrived at a small Sikh temple and miraculously survived.

He became a devoted follower, believing that his God had mercifully saved him.

His morning ritual is to shower and brush his hair with a wooden comb. He sometimes speaks like an angsty teenager, but it's not easily noticed as he seldom speaks.
----

* Combos: Everything in Zahir's kit revolves around ability combos, stemming from the marks he leaves on his enemies when he hits them. Each ability (except his ultimate) has an improved effect if hitting a marked target.
* DifficultButAwesome: Zahir's entire skillset is skill-shots, some with considerable wind-ups and/or cooldowns, meaning he has to constantly anticipate where his enemy will go in order to land hits, especially with his ultimate. Additionally, all of his abilities have improved effects when they hit an enemy marked by his trait, meaning he has to properly sequence his attacks to get the most out of his kit. If you can land his skillshots and properly sequence his abilities, though, he's easily capable of landing a near-instant kill on most opponents from a safe distance.
* GlassCannon: Zahir is one of the most devastating mages in the game, capable of annihilating just about any foe in an instant, but he's also one of the squishiest characters in the game too.
* SquishyWizard: Zahir's spells can deal devastating damage, but he goes down quickly once someone reaches him.

One of the scientists of Aglaia. Serves as the default announcer for the game.
----
* HotterAndSexier: Compared to her appearance in the original Black Survival, Nadja is definitely curvier in Eternal Return, with larger breasts and an hourglass figure. Her wardrobe is also changed from a loose shirt and shorts to a pencil skirt, pantyhose, and a taut office shirt.
* MustHaveCaffeine: She's never been shown in either game without her coffee mug.

A questionable woman often spotted on the island. She is a skilled fighter so be well prepared before engaging in combat against her. According to memos available in the Research Background, Doctor Wickeline (Dr. W) was a test subject in the "first phase test" who has become hysterical, and has an extraordinary memory. She has since become part of the staff on the island.

In-game, Wickeline is a boss character who appears at the start of Night 3 and begins wandering around any still-opened zones on Lumia Island. If defeated, she gives the Test Subject(s) who killed her a powerful damage-over-time buff and an extremely rare VF Blood Sample.
----
* BossBattle: She's more-or-less this, as she's far deadlier than any animals on Lumia Island, as well as stronger than the androids Alpha and Omega.
* CombatStilettos: As can be seen, she provides a very unique version of this trope by going around and then possibly fighting the test subjects who cross her path while wearing giant syringes and needles on her feet.
* TheDreaded: Being a first-generation Test Subject, Wickeline is usually far more powerful than any of the other Test Subjects (at least in lore).
* FormFittingWardrobe: Wickeline's black bodysuit is skin-tight.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Debatable on "hero", but she was the focus of an official Black Survival manga.
* OptionalBoss: Killing her isn't required, but doing so will give you a massive advantage.
* PoisonousPerson: All of Wickeline's attacks inflict a damage-over-time effect and also reduce the target's healing. This also includes the trail of poison she leaves in her wake.
