3The main protagonists of Anime/BakuganBattlePlanet and the spiritual successors to the [[Anime/{{Bakugan}} Battle Brawlers.]] Like the original series, the group consists with kids who discover Bakugan and upload their findings online to their viewers.

5!!The Awesome Ones
6
7[[foldercontrol]]
8
9[[folder:In General]]
10* TheAce: They all qualify as this, as they are considered the greatest brawlers in the world, as well as the go-to people for anything Bakugan related.
11* BadassCrew: They are considered the best battlers in the world.
12* BewareTheSillyOnes: They are a bunch of preteens who spend their free time making goofy online videos, but anyone who faces them in battle are in for a rude awakening.
13* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: The colors of their outfits match their main factions;
14** Dan=Red=Pyrus
15** Wynton=Green=Ventus
16** Lia=White and teal= Haos
17** Shun=Blue=Aquos
18** Lightning=Black (his collar)= Darkus
19* {{Retcon}}: For some reason, their name was changed to the Awesome Brawlers in season two.
20* SixthRanger: Shun in season one, then [[spoiler: Ajit in season two.]]

24!!Dan Kouzo
25!!!'''Voiced by''': Jonah Wineburg (English), Creator/RieTakahashi (Japanese)
26[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dan_kouzo.png]]
27[[caption-width-right:350:Dan & Drago]]
28
2912-year-old Dan Kouzo is a fun-loving, energetic kid who was born on the very same day as the Great Collision. One day he discovers his partner Bakugan Pyrus Drago(Dragonoid) and begins to upload his findings to the whole world. As leader of The Awesome Ones, he and his friends will fight to protect Bakugan from being misused by others.
30----
31* TheAce: He's easily the strongest and most battle-competent of the Awesome Ones.
32* AdaptationDyeJob: In the original series he has completely brown hair and reddish eyes, while here he has a red streak in his hair and blue eyes.
33* AdaptationNameChange: Dan's surname is "Kouzo" instead of "Kuso".
34* AttentionWhore: He has shades of this, preferring to have the attention be on him or when the others can eclipse him in popularity. It was exploited in an episode that nearly cost the team a victory.
35* AllLovingHero: He deeply cares about all Bakugan and his friends and tries his best to protect them.
36* BigEater: He loves eating a lot and is often seen doing so.
37* EstablishingCharacterMoment: As he's about to lose in the first episode, how does he get Drago a [=BakuCore=] in spite of the fighting Bakugans at the front blocking him? He ''runs through'', risking his own life just so he can heal Drago and turn the tides in his favor.
38* FatalFlaw: He has two: pride and insensitivity. For the former, he can become very arrogant about his skill set, which has put him in a pinch on several occasions, although he is gradually growing out of it as the series progresses. In the latter's case, his status as a social butterfly has him believing he can reach or connect with anyone. For his rivals like Magnus and Ajit, who have [[TragicVillain much more complicated problems]], he tends to not catch on to their issues until the situation gets too dire.
39* FieryRedhead: Subverted somewhat. He uses the faction of fire, but he's a brunette with just a small streak of red hair.
40* GuileHero: On rare occasions, Dan can prove to be impressively cunning. The most blatant examples include him goading Haavik into fairer brawls so he can have a winning chance, as well as organizing a Battle Judgment to stall Hanoj until they find a way to be rid of him.
41* IdiotHero: Naturally. He's dumb in the books but pretty smart in battle.
42* InnocentBlueEyes: Not only does he wear red as a sign of heroism, but his eyes are pure, blue and heroic as well.
43* KidHero: He's only twelve and yet he takes on an evil organization (and more!) with his friends.
44* LaserGuidedKarma: This happens to him a lot in the series. When he gets too full of himself, something happens to knock him down a peg.
45* TheLeader: Dan is the leader of the Awesome Ones. Despite his IdiotHero tendencies, his charisma and strong heart are what push him to take charge. His Bakugans, Drago in particular, tend to lead the Bakugan into battle, most notably when the group battles together.
46* OutOfCharacterAlert: Aside from when he was [[spoiler: brainwashed]], one good indicator that Dan isn't his usual self because of Haavik is him actually getting (too) serious. When he shows constant suspicion and paranoia at his friends' behavior (whether joking or unintentionally making him think they're not themselves), it's topped off by him being so wary of the situation, he made sure to have all the time he needs to handle it by finishing his homework as soon as possible. His friends were shocked, given he usually leaves all his work to be done at the last minute.
47* PlayingWithFire: As a Pyrus battler he specializes in using fire attacks in his battles.
48* RedIsHeroic: He dresses primarily in red, uses the red faction and has a red streak of hair on his head.
49* TheRival: He and Magnus Black develop a strong rivalry from their first encounter: he respects Magnus as a brawler and wants to eventually defeat him, while Magnus sees him as a PrivilegedRival who has had everything handled to him on a silver platter while he (Magnus) has to suffer.
50* TechnicianVersusPerformer: He's the performer to Magnus' technician.
51* ThePollyanna: Nothing keeps him down for long and he usually cheers up quickly. He loves singing and dancing, even though he's bad at the former (though the Bakugans seem to enjoy it).
52[[/folder]]

54[[folder:Wynton Styles]]
55!!Wynton Styles
56!!!'''Voiced by''': Creator/DevenMack (English), Creator/JunFukushima (Japanese)
57[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/600px_wynton_styles_and_trox_art.png]]
58[[caption-width-right:350:Wynton & Trox]]
59
6012-year-old Wynton Styles is Dan's best friend ever since the first grade and the brains of the Awesome Ones. Like Dan he finds his Bakugan partner while researching the Great Collision. His Partner is Ventus Trox which specializes in using the earth for powerful attacks. Somewhat of a goofball prankster who likes telling jokes, Wynton is always there to lighten the mood.
61----
62* BestFriend: He is this to Dan. The two have known each other ever since the first grade and have had a strong friendship ever since.
63* CompositeCharacter: As TheSmartGuy, he's closest to Marucho from the original series, but he uses Ventus Bakugan like Shun did.
64* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: He is this to the Ventus user Shun Kazami of the Battle Brawlers. While both are very intelligent, Wynton generally hides his intelligence from everyone other than his friends and unlike Shun who is calm and stoic, Wynton is a goofy prankster who doesn't take everything seriously.
65* DishingOutDirt: As a Ventus Brawler, Wynton and Trox use Earth-based attacks to fight other Bakugan.
66* GadgeteerGenius: He is able to create a device that can track Core Cell energy in his bedroom.
67* HeadphonesEqualIsolation: Adverted actually. Despite wearing them all the time, he's pretty friendly and outgoing to others.
68* PluckyComicRelief: He usually does his best to reduce any tension whether or not it succeeds.
69* TheSmartGuy: Wynton is Dan’s best friend and the GadgeteerGenius as well as ThePrankster and tech expert of the Awesome Ones. Though his jokes can drive his Bakugan and his friends mad, his acceptance of his technological skills has come in a pinch. His Bakugans represent this even further: Trox is much more strategic than the others have seen, Lupitheon's dangerously effective in said strategies, and Turtonium often uses its powers in tandem with Wynton's powers.
70%%* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: He's smart and he wears glasses.
71[[/folder]]
72
73[[folder:Lia Venegas]]
74!!Lia Venegas
75!!!'''Voiced by''': Margarita Valderrama (English), Creator/ChinatsuAkasaki (Japanese)
76[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/600px_lia_venegas_and_pegatrix_art.png]]
77[[caption-width-right:350:Lia & Pegatrix]]
78
7911-year-old Lia Venegas is one of Dan's friends and is the director of the Awesome Ones. She typically manages the equipment and decides what the group does during their videos. Like Dan and Wynton, she also gains a partner called Gorthion and later Pegatrix. As a Haos user, she specializes in using powerful yet beautiful blasts of light.
80----
81* ActionGirl: She is a very powerful brawler who can take on most foes with no problem.
82* AllGirlsLikePonies: Her guardian Bakugan is Pegatrix.
83* ArchEnemy: China Riot seems to be this to her.
84* CompositeCharacter: Appearance-wise, to Runo (blue hair) and Julie (tan skin).
85* DisappearedDad: Her father is heavily implied to be dead or missing.
86* HairTriggerTemper: Downplayed. Though she usually snarks rather than get angry, she has her moments of annoyance. Wynton took the cake by filming an embarrassing video of her, making her furious enough she had to be held back from hurting anyone.
87* GenkiGirl: She's incredibly cheerful most of the time.
88* LightEmUp: As a Haos user, she and Gorthion can use the power of light to overwhelm her opponents.
89* PluckyGirl: She fits the very definition of this trope.
90* TheSmurfettePrinciple: She's the only major hero in the series that is female. This changes with Evolutions once Athena joins in.
91%%* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak

93
94[[folder:Shun Kazami]]
95!!Shun Kazami
96!!!'''Voiced by''': Ticoon Kim (English, season 1), Jaimee Joe Gonzaga (English, season 2 and onward), Creator/YumiUchiyama (Japanese)
97[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/600px_shun_kazami_and_hydorous.png]]
98[[caption-width-right:350:Shun & Hydorous]]
99
10010-year-old Shun Kazami is from all the way from Japan and traveled to America to meet the Awesome Ones and later join them. He is part of an extremely wealthy family which is how he even got to meet Dan and the others in the first place but often feels lonely and desiring friends. Like the others, he has a partner called Aquos Hydrous and specializes in using strategic water based attacks.
101----
102* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: Big time. He's nothing like his predecessor in Battle Brawlers. He's less assertive, a bit withdrawn, and specializes in an entirely different attribute.
103* AgeLift: Inverted. In the first season of the original, he is 13 years old. In this show, he is 10.
104* DefectorFromDecadence: He left his wealthy family in Japan to join the Awesome Ones.
105* CompositeCharacter: He's got Shun's name and Marucho's personality and backstory from the original series.
106* {{Expy}}: He is this to Marucho. Like Marucho, Shun is a wealthy lonely rich kid who later makes friends with the group and specializes in using Water Bakugan. He also has issues with pleasing his family.
107* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: He is a kindhearted boy who loves Bakugan and fights to protect them with his friends.
108* InNameOnly: His name is literally the ''only'' thing he has in common with his original counterpart. Anything else, including his appearance, personality, background, family, attribute, is different.
109* InnocentBlueEyes: His signature color is blue, alongside with his cute baby blue eyes.
110* {{Irony}}: An [[MakingASplash Aquos]] brawler who can't swim.
111* TheLancer: Shun is the newer member of the Awesome Ones and [[RedOniBlueOni he’s much more reserved and distant compared to the founding members]]. However, he’s a competent brawler and can take charge whenever Dan has confidence issues and act on his own when the others are preoccupied or [[ItsPersonal when his family is involved]]. His Bakugan also serve as a calm headstrong secondary leader in battle, most notably in assistance with Dan’s Bakugan.
112* LonelyRichKid: His main reason for coming to America was not only to join the Awesome Ones but to become friends with them as well.
113* MakingASplash: As an Aquos user, Shun and Hydrous can use powerful torrents of water to blast their foes. In the original series, he was a Ventus brawler.
114* SixthRanger: He joins the group later on in the first season and becomes their fifth member.
115* Tritagonist: Of season 1, with his family issues being the focus of a good number of episodes.
116* WhiteSheep: Compared to his father who seems cold and is OnlyInItForTheMoney and his cousin who is a villain for the first season, Shun is easily the nicest person in his family.
117* YouDontLookLikeYou: He went through a major appearance change: his hairstyle is different (even when compared to short-haired Shun), he has blond hair, blue eyes, and dresses fancily instead of like a ninja.
118[[/folder]]
119
120[[folder:Lightning]]
121!!Lightning
122!!!'''Voiced by''': Will Bowes (English), Aki Kanada (Japanese)
123[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_pkd9tuxbdw1rmzevo_1280.png]]
124[[caption-width-right:350:Lightning]]
125
12618-year-old (in dog years) Lightning is The Awesome Ones pet and also their fellow teammate. Like the others Lightning can brawl despite being a French Bulldog. The unofficial mascot of the Awesome Ones, Lightning is more than capable of holding his own when he uses his partner Darkus Howlkor.
127----
128* ActionPet: Like the other Awesome Ones, he is an active battler and is more than capable of keeping up with Dan and the others.
129* BigEater: He is hungry almost all the time and even tried to eat Wynton's cake before his birthday party.
130* BreakingOldTrends: Lightning marks the first for the franchise to have a non-humanoid battler on the team and being an animal no less.
131* CastingAShadow: Lighting specializes in Darkus Bakugan. Using the power of Darkness, he can overwhelm his foes with his partner's power.
132* TeamPet: Lightning is Dan’s dog, who he adopted off the streets and serves as the mascot for the team. Despite being the dog, he acts more so of a combination of TheSneakyGuy and TheBigGuy, often infiltrating enemy bases by pretending to be a stray dog and using his size to reach places his team wouldn’t normally reach, and has a strong sense of loyalty to the [=AO=]s. He also frequently attacks opponents and causing physical mayhem to disrupt and prevent the villains from winning. In battle, his Bakugan have the most destructive abilities as well as strong synergy despite starting out as VitriolicBestBuds.
133* TheWorfEffect: Loses his second match against Strata to show off how much more cunning Strata has become in their last encounter and less effective in the second half of the show once the villains start becoming a bigger threat.
134[[/folder]]
135
136[[folder:Ajit]]
137!!Ajit
138
139The first Aurelus Brawler, an orphan and also the apprentice of Phantom Thief Calloway Storm. His Bakugan are Pharol and Auxillataur.
140----
141* BlueAndOrangeMorality: He has been shown to have no qualms about stealing, which is understandable given his background.
142* DarkAndTroubledPast: According to him, he was an orphan with nothing to his name before Storm found him.
143* {{Deuteragonist}}: Of season 2, a good part of the first half put his and Storm's conflict as the main focus (with Dan even bordering on being a SupportingProtagonist at times), and even when his focus got reduced in the second half, he was still the AB with the biggest screen time second to Dan.
144* MeaningfulName: Ajit is Sanskrit for "invincible," which is fitting for the one and only Aurelus Brawler.
145* NonElemental: He uses Aurelus Bakugan, who have no element associated with them.
146* ThePollyanna: He has a generally bubbly personality in spite of his background.
147* PromotionToOpeningTitles: From the third season and onwards, he shows up in the opening [[spoiler: alongside the Awesome Brawlers, having officially become a member.]]
148* SixthRanger: [[spoiler: By the end of his debut season, he joins the Awesome Brawlers]].
149* StoryBreakerPower: Big time. Ajit, for some reason, is able to use Golden Bakugan, who have been shown to be [[OlympusMons far more powerful than the average Bakugan]], automatically making him the strongest brawler in the series. The fact that one of his Bakugan is TheAce of Aurelus Bakugan doesn't help either.
150* UnskilledButStrong: Even though he's a newbie at battling, he's still able to defeat even the Awesome Brawlers because of his Bakugan.
151* WalkingSpoiler: Promotional materials of season 2 spoil the fact that he may be the newest member of the Awesome Brawlers.

155[[folder:Benton Dusk]]
156!!Benton Dusk
157[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/benton_duskpng.png]]
158
159A mysterious, enigmatic figure, Benton Dusk plays a pivotal role in the world of Bakugan.
160----
161* AnonymousBenefactor: He starts off supporting the Awesome Ones' actions from the sidelines until he fully introduces himself to them in the ''Dawn Before Dusk'' two partner.
162* TheAtoner: [[spoiler: In the second season, he has assumed responsibility for all things Bakugan related as a way of atoning for [[BrainwashedAndCrazy his]] actions.]]
163* BigGood: Alongside Pyravian, he's the most resourceful ally on the protagonists' side.
164* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Though his intentions are noble, there's no denying that some of Benton's actions are... questionable, including but not limited to;
165** Countering Kravitz's misrepresentation of Bakugan by sending a satellite crashing towards Los Volmos, gambling with thousands of lives on the chance that the AO would save them and prove that Bakugan are actually good.
166** Putting Dan and Wynton's lives in danger in the maze just to see their personalities.
167* CainAndAbel: He is the Abel to Philomena Dusk, who is BigBad of the first-half of season one.
168* CoolShades: He wear orange shades and is an overall likable character.
169* DemotedToExtra: In Evolutions, with Faustus seemingly taking his role as the mentor of the Awesome Brawlers (and the rest of the academy), his screen time got greatly reduced ,and while he still appears, it is mostly for quick messages, not really interacting a whole lot with the AB nor being that involved with the main plot this time around, until the second half of the season at least, when he once again take a more active role.
170* TheDreaded: [[spoiler: When Tiko takes him under his control, Benton's only intellect, resources and brawling are used by Tiko to turn him into the most dangerous avatar. Anyone with a Bakugan not owned by Dan or Philomena can't touch his Hydranoid, and with Dusk Industries, he can shut down and regulate control of any attempts to stop Tiko's plans. Tiko explains this to him before he becomes fully possessed.]]
171* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: His character card art has him looking much more evil than he actually is, and his first bio seemed to hint at him becoming the BigBad later on. These were ideas that were ultimately scrapped,[[spoiler: to an extent since...]]
172* GoodAllAlong: He is mysterious figure who is related to Philomena Dusk and AAANIMUS.Inc. As the story progress, his willingness to become the mentor of ''The Awesome Ones'' clearly proved that he is a good guy.
173* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Used to be AAANIMUS Inc. chief officer before Philomena take over his status.
174* SiblingRivalry: With Philomena Dusk, the first BigBad, and his sister. The two used to be close and like the Awesome Ones, were the first to discover and learn about Bakugan when they were younger during the first Great Collision until they were driven apart by business. While his sister is only interested in profit and control of Bakugan, he wants Bakugan to be accessible to everyone.
175* WellIntentionedExtremist: His actions may seem dubious, but he means well. His goal is to make Bakugan available to everyone. [[spoiler: Too bad Tiko decides to take advantage of his plans, something he wishes to atone for in ''Armored Alliance''.]]
176[[/folder]]
177
178[[folder:Pyravian]]
179!!Pyravian
180[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/images_1_055.jpeg]]
181
182The first Aurelus Bakugan our heroes encounter, Pyravian's goal is to protect Vestroia no matter what. Making her debut in the episode "Rubbed the Wrong Way", she becomes an extremely important figure in the show later on.
183----
184* BigGood: She aids our heroes several times in the series. Although she directly opposed them twice, this was because she thought that they were trying to corrupt the Core Cells.
185* CastFromHitPoints: Her "Aurelus Arrow". She once used it to destroy several Bakuzon but was seriously drained afterwards.
186* DeclarationOfProtection: While facing Magnus and his Nillious in the maze, she declares loudly that she will protect the Core Cells.
187* {{Expy}}: Of Storm Skyress from the legacy series. They share several similarities in both design and themes.
188* GiantFlyer: She is an enormous flying bird Bakugan.
189* MrExposition: A female example. When she is not helping the heroes in some way, she's infodumping.
190* PlayingWithFire: Although as a golden Bakugan she is a NonElemental, some of her moves such as "Phoenix Fire" and "Aurelus Restore" seem to incorporate fire.
191* TheSmurfettePrinciple: She's the only female member of the [[spoiler: Bakugan Supreme Council.]]
192[[/folder]]
193
194[[folder:Trhyno]]
195!!Trhyno
196!!!'''Voiced by''': Creator/CoryDoran
197[[quoteright:264:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aurelus_trhyno.png]]
198
199A native Aurelus Bakugan and a member of the Supreme Council, he is a powerful ally in the fight against Tiko.
200----
201* TheAce: According to his bio, he is arguably the strongest member of the Council.
202* AnIcePerson: One of his attacks is firing beams from his mouth that freeze anyone they come in contact with.
203* BadassInDistress: He spends most of his screentime chained up by Benton [[spoiler: possessed by Tiko]] as the V-virus eats away at him.
204* DisneyDeath: He goes into deep hibernation mode when he succumbs to the virus and disappears in the episode "Trhyno Lives." Don't worry, [[spoiler: he comes back in Armored Alliance.]]
205* MrExposition: He's the one who reminds Drago of the Legendary Armour, as well as Tiko's past.
206* WorfHadTheFlu: He is beaten by Magnus and Nillious due to him suffering from the V-virus.
207[[/folder]]
208
209[[folder:Goreene]]
210!!Goreene
211!!!'''voiced by''': Creator/JamieWatson
212[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aurelus_goreene.png]]
213
214Goreene is a cyclops/golem like Aurelus Bakugan and a member of the Supreme Council. He first appears in the episode "Kazami Family Feud" in Drago's dream.
215----
216
217* CombatMedic: Although he is very strong, his true strength lies in his healing ability.
218* HumansAreBastards: Among the Supreme Council members, he is the least trusting of humans, which is understandable given he was [[spoiler: kidnapped and used as a battery by Ichiro Kazami.]]. In season three, he even sides with [[spoiler: Viloch]], whose goal is to separate Earth and Vestroia.
219* SpinAttack: His "Avalanche" ability.
220* SuperStrength: He could hold off multiple [[OurZombiesAreDifferent Bakuzon]] by himself using nothing but his strength.
