The stray cat Mahiru took in who turned out to be a very lazy vampire - the oldest and strongest of the Servamps, the Servamp of Sloth. He hates going outside or having to do anything at all (he'd rather spend his days napping or playing video games), but he will defend Mahiru at all costs.
-----
* AllWorkVsAllPlay: The All Play to Mahiru's All Work. He'd rather laze around, play games and let others fight Tsubaki.
* AlternateCharacterReading: "Sleepy Ash" can be read as "The Silent Demise".
* AnimalMotifs: A cat.
* AntiHero: To contrast with Mahiru's more straight-up heroic nature.
* AwfulTruth: How he feels about his past. "Some things you weren't meant to know. Some things... could kill you."
* BadassLongcoat: With literal coattails!
* BaitAndSwitchComment: Is a master of these, saying something that sounds nice to Mahiru, then continuing to turn it upside down into an insult. Whether he's doing that on purpose or if he actually means those nice things and just lapses into {{Tsundere}} mode is up to debate.
* BerserkButton:
** Trying to harm Mahiru when he's around is a ''very'' bad idea.
** He isn't fond of C3 either.
** He did ''not'' take it well when Lawless referred to their creator as family.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: He doesn't want to fight and he'll ignore a lot of things or just let them slip. But... [[BerserkButton DO NOT TOUCH MAHIRU.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: Although he might be lazy and doesn't show his feelings very much, he does care about his younger siblings as shown with how angered he was when [[spoiler:Tsubaki took Hyde's item and then destroyed it, making the fifth Servamp release the jin from his body.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: With Mahiru when [[spoiler:rescuing the Lust Pair and Tetsu from a seemingly hopeless situation against Tsubaki's subclass]].
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: With Mahiru at times. Whenever he says or does something silly, Mahiru is likely to hit him for it.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: He does this in the [[AudioAdaptation drama CDs]] on a regular basis.
* CannotSpitItOut: He simply can't bring himself to admit that he cares about Mahiru [[OnlyFriend a]] [[UndyingLoyalty lot]].
* CastingAShadow: His power, essentially. Aside from the shadowy claws he normally uses to fight, he can also create other larger shadow forms and use them to attack opponents or ward off dangers.
* CatchPhrase: "Can't deal..." and "How exhausting."
* CatsAreSnarkers: He's not even a real cat, but he's still very snarky.
* ChangedMyMindKid: In the first fight against Berukia, he originally tries to run away, but Mahiru refuses and goes up against Berukia on his own. Just when the latter is about to seriously hurt him, Kuro returns and takes the blow for his future Eve.
* CharacterDevelopment: Once Mahiru snaps him out of his HeroicBSOD, he decides to stop running away, face his past mistakes and talk things out with Tsubaki. Or at least try, because Tsubaki doesn't want to.
* ChickMagnet: At school, thanks to his CuteKitten form.
* CoatCape: Wears his coat like this in many illustrations.
* TheComicallySerious: Much of the humor in his interactions with Mahiru comes from him poking fun at Mahiru with the most deadpan voice and expression imaginable.
* CreepyShadowedUndereyes: His eye bags are used to this effect when he [[DeathGlare gets mad]].
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He's the strongest of all the Servamps. You wouldn't suspect it from the way he usually acts - even Mahiru was surprised to hear that bit.
* CurbStompBattle: He doesn't stand a chance against Tsubaki at the beginning. [[spoiler:Six volumes and some [[TookALevelInBadass leveling up]] later, he and Mahiru are the ones dealing out a defeat like that when they rescue Misono, Lily and Tetsu and beat Tsubaki's subclass in no time at all.]]
* CuteKitten: In cat form.
* CutenessProximity: He knows how to invoke this in people by using his cat form. [[RunningGag It doesn't work on Mahiru.]]
* CynicismCatalyst: The reason why he's so lazy? The one time he made a decision and did something of his own accord, [[spoiler:he killed the creator of the Servamps and ended up questioning and regretting his decision forever.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: With emphasis on "deadpan". He's quick to snark at Mahiru's antics, or anybody's antics in general, while keeping a perfectly blank face.
* DeathGlare: Gives one to C3 when [[spoiler:they hold him and Mahiru captive and separate them]].
* [[DeliberatelyCuteChild Deliberately Cute Cat]]: Often acts like this, especially when trying to calm an annoyed Mahiru down. [[RunningGag It doesn't work]].
* {{Deuteragonist}}: The second most important character after Mahiru - obviously, as he's his partner and roommate.
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:Downplayed, as Servamps can't actually die, but this is basically what happens when he disappears into a black ball, along with Mahiru's Lead. Mahiru can't even talk to him for some time and fears that he might be lost in this state forever. He gets better, of course.]]
* TheDragAlong: Does he want to get involved in the whole Tsubaki business? No. Does that keep Mahiru from dragging him in anyway? Hell no.
* DynamicEntry: With Mahiru, after recovering from his HeroicBSOD and returning to save the others in a BigDamnHeroes moment. They come crashing in through the window at the top of a ''huge'' skyscraper of a hotel.
* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: In the first chapter he had "Don't wake me up" written on the back of his coat, as well as golden buttons on his boots. Both later disappeared, along with a few other details, presumably to make him easier and faster to draw.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Him sitting in front of the TV, eating cup ramen and not happy to be caught in his human form. "Man... I'd rather die than deal with this..."
* ExhaustedEyeBags: Kuro is never seen without them.
* FireForgedFriends: With Mahiru, but he'd never admit that.
* {{Foil}}: To Mahiru. While the former is a more straight-up [[TheHero hero]], Kuro is a lazy AntiHero who is withdrawn, hates showing emotion, and only helps because he has to (or that's [[HiddenHeartOfGold what he'd like people to believe]]).
* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: He almost says this word-for-word when introducing himself.
* HeadPet: Is often seen riding on Mahiru's head in his cat form.
* HeroicBSOD: After [[spoiler:running into Lawless and being reminded of his backstory as the one who killed the creator of the Servamps.]] He gets better.
* HesBack: After recovering from said HeroicBSOD.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Mahiru, especially post-CharacterDevelopment when they grow even closer.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: He tries to hide the fact that he genuinely cares about Mahiru behind excuses why he had to say or do something nice.
* {{Hikikomori}}: A self-proclaimed one. Not that Mahiru ever lets him stay at home.
* IAmAMonster: Seems to have thought so from the very beginning, but it got even worse after [[spoiler:he killed the creator of the Servamps.]]
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Instead of using his vampire powers to fight against Tsubaki, he'd rather live a quiet, peaceful life.
* InternalizedCategorism: He sees the vampires as monsters and hates himself for being one.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He complains whenever he has to help Mahiru with something, but he always ends up doing it anyway.
* KingOfBeasts: [[spoiler:His true form.]]
* TheGadfly: At times. He likes teasing Mahiru, to the latter's exasperation.
* TheLancer: To Mahiru's [[TheHero Hero]]. He's the deuteragonist and Mahiru's partner, and their personalities work as foil to each other.
* LazyBum: He's not called the Servamp of Sloth for nothing.
* LikeAnOldMarriedCouple: He and Mahiru are almost never not bickering. They're also inseparable.
* LineOfSightName: Mahiru named him Kuro ("black") because his cat form has black fur.
* TheMirrorShowsYourTrueSelf: Even when he's in his human form, the reflection in the mirror shows [[GlamourFailure a cat]]. It only happens once in the first chapter though, so whether the authors stuck with it or whether it's a case of EarlyInstallmentWeirdness is up to debate.
* MomentKiller: He ruins many a FriendshipMoment with Mahiru by backing out and claiming that he didn't actually mean to be nice.
* MonsterRoommate: To Mahiru. They don't really have a choice because they're bound by the contract.
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler:Killing the creator of the Servamps. He still hasn't forgiven himself for that.]]
* TheNicknamer: Gives nicknames to the other Eves, such as "Bastard-chan" for Misono and "Onsen guy" for Tetsu.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: His design is certainly unusual for the deuteragonist and poster boy of a series that's often classified as [[ShoujoDemographic shoujo]]. He's not drawn pretty (although fans would disagree), and he has dark bags under his eyes.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: But only around Mahiru, who doesn't seem to mind.
* NotAMorningPerson: Mahiru needs to literally drag him out of bed in the morning.
* PantheraAwesome: [[spoiler:His true form is a huge black lion.]]
* PerpetualFrowner: He has yet to smile in the series. There is, however, a piece of promotional art that shows him smiling.
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Mahiru's red.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: He tries to pull this in the first Berukia fight and run away, but Mahiru's not having it (and neither is Berukia).
* SleepModeSize: [[spoiler:His cat form was this all along. His true animal form is a lion, and a gigantic one at that, but he hasn't used it for who knows how long because he lost the will to fight.]]
* StepfordSnarker: A mild example. He hides his true feelings behind his usual lazy, snarky, don't-care-about-nothing façade.
* StockAnimalName: Mahiru named him, a black cat, "Kuro", which is pretty much the Japanese equivalent of "Blacky." It gets [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by Misono.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: He usually acts like he doesn't care about anything and anyone, but there are rare moments when he reveals that he does care and simply has trouble showing it.
* SuperDeformed: Shrinks down to chibi size while [[spoiler:trapped inside the black HeroicBSOD ball]].
* SuperLoser: Downplayed - he ''can'' be cool and badass when he gets serious. It's just that most of the time he acts more like a perpetually tired, lazy teen than anything else.
* SweetTooth: If his love of cookies and cream ice cream and overly sweet soft drinks is of any indication. He's mostly got a weakness for junk food though.
* TemptingFate: After their first meeting he told Mahiru that they'd never get along. No points for guessing [[UndyingLoyalty how]] [[TrueCompanions that]] [[HeterosexualLifePartners went]].
* ThisLoserIsYou: More relatable than [[TheHero Mahiru]] due to his laziness, insecurities and social awkwardness.
* TookALevelInBadass: A ''massive'' one after [[spoiler:Mahiru snaps him out of his HeroicBSOD. Turns out his animal form isn't a cat - it's a huge lion. The ensuing battle against Tsubaki's subclass ends up being rather... [[CurbStompBattle one-sided]].]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Ramen and potato chips.
* TranquilFury: Lapses into this when he's mad. Which is when you should probably get the hell out of Dodge.
* TrueCompanions: With [[OnlyFriend Mahiru]]. They don't always [[LikeAnOldMarriedCouple act]] [[VitriolicBestBuds like it]], but they're this.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Mahiru. He'll do anything to protect him - even [[spoiler:offer to work together with C3, which he hates more than anything.]]
* UnstoppableRage: [[spoiler:He turns into lion form and nearly rips Tsubaki apart after the latter [[BerserkButton injured Mahiru]].]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Mahiru. He hates to admit it, but he cares about him a lot.
* YouWatchTooMuchX: Tells Mahiru that he reads too much shonen manga in the first fight against Berukia. Well, Kuro, [[GenreBlindness guess what you're in...]]

[[folder: Hugh the Dark Algernon III (Old Child)]]
[[WMG:'''Hugh the Dark Algernon III/Old Child''']]
[[quoteright:171:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hugh_icon.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AyumuMurase

The second Servamp, the Servamp of Pride. Hugh looks like a child in a vampire costume, but his manners and behavior show that he's much older and essentially a gentleman in a child's body (most of the time, anyway). He's always trying to appear as vampirelike as possible and is very happy to have found an Eve like Tetsu.
-----

* AndThatLittleGirlWasMe: He tells Tetsu about a story of an old man and a child when Tetsu asked him if their contract was real. [[spoiler:He was the old man in the story, and he is bent on revenge.]]
* AntiquatedLinguistics: His speech pattern is rather... old-fashioned, to say the least.
* AwesomeAnachronisticApparel: His clothes don't seem to have changed much over the past few centuries.
* BadassAdorable: He looks like a cute five-year-old dressing up as a vampire. He's also the second oldest vampire in the world, and strong enough to prove it.
* BigEntrance: Subverted. He tries to make one but it [[RevealShot falls]] [[BeatPanel flat]].
* BrainsAndBrawn: The most intelligent Servamp is paired with Tetsu who is all muscle but no brains.
* BrattyHalfPint: He usually averts this, but he does end up acting like one when he gets annoyed with Mikuni.
* BroughtDownToNormal: [[spoiler:Hugh does manage to recover after getting jin extracted out of his body, but he doesn't have his powers anymore... except, [[FaceHeelTurn not really]].]]
* CheerfulChild: Looks like one, and more often than not acts like one. [[spoiler:Seemed to have lost the cheerful kid personality after recovering from losing his jin and acts like an old man, but is later revealed to be an act to cover the fact that it was World End and not him who lost his jin. ]]
* ClassicalMovieVampire: The closest thing the series has to one, as [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by Mahiru. Even he is more of a classical movie vampire wannabe though.
* CloseupOnHead: Only his face is shown when he [[EstablishingCharacterMoment first makes a dramatic entrance]]. Cue RevealShot, and we see that he's actually tiny.
* DarknessVonGothickname: His current name has shades of this, although it's a bit too over-the-top to be taken seriously.
* {{Emo}}: The [[StylisticSuck poetry]] he writes for Kuro in the second drama CD definitely falls into this category, and it's done up to eleven.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: [[spoiler: Despite his collaboration with Tsubaki from the start, Hugh had come to cared deeply for Tetsu as the boy became the only person Hugh wanted to save from Tsubaki's spell. Later Yumikage and Tetsu used this to force Hugh to change side and give up his plan]].
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:As it turns out, Hugh sold out the rest of the Servamps and collaborated with Tsubaki, but in recent chapter, Tetsu managed to get him back on their side by forming a true contract with him]].
* {{Foil}}: To Tetsu. While the latter is a child in an adult's body, Hugh is essentially a tiny gentleman who looks like a child.
* HarsherInHindsight: His current name is too over-the-top to be taken seriously, [[spoiler: It's later revealed that it's actually the combination of his real name and his dead friend's name, a reminder of his vengence to never forget what happened]].
* HighClassGlass: Wears one, he even has it in his animal form.
* HighCollarOfDoom: Of course his typical vampire outfit wouldn't be complete without one.
* HypocriticalHumor: Proudly declares that a real vampire would never get excited over a sports match on TV like Tetsu does - then is shown sitting on Tetsu's shoulders, cheering even louder than his Eve, [[GilliganCut in the very next panel]].
* ImmortalImmaturity: He tries so hard to act like a century-old vampire, but unfortunately for him, that doesn't always work out. [[spoiler: It's unclear if his childish behavior is inner child shining though or a total act ]].
* ItsPersonal: [[spoiler:Swore revenge on Sensei after the later put his soul into Hugh's body and killed the boy, this is the purpose of all his action ]].
* NameThatUnfoldsLikeLotusBlossom: Not as long as some examples, but it still fits. [[spoiler:It got even longer after Tetsu renamed him ]].
* NotSoAboveItAll: As much as he tries to act both adultlike and vampirelike, sometimes he can't help his inner child shining through.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Even more so than the other Servamps - he looks like a five-year-old child.
* OminousOperaCape: Wears one, but it doesn't have much of an effect because both he and the cape are kind of small.
* RedHerring: Invoked. [[spoiler:The attack on him is actually a cover to the fact that it's World End, not Hugh who lost his powers after being attacked by Tsubaki]].
* SilverFox: [[spoiler:His true appearance after his ruse got found out is that of an old but handsome man]].
* SmallNameBigEgo: Sure, he's one of the Servamps and well-known and powerful enough, but he's not nearly as scary or intimidating as he thinks he is. [[spoiler:This is invoked to catch Tetsu and the other Servamps and Eves off guard]].
* TokenMiniMoe: Doesn't have the cutesy personality but definitely has the looks. [[spoiler:It's his "default" form, it is later revealed that he could shift into other forms. ]].

The third of the Servamps, the Servamp of Envy, Jeje is a loner who talks little but can get pretty violent when angered (usually by Mikuni). Little is known about him, even his face is a secret; he can transform into a snake and wields several guns during fights.
-----

* BadassLongcoat: If that... ''thing'' he's wearing is a coat, it definitely counts.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: With Mikuni - he's the tsukkomi to his Eve's boke, attacking him with his guns when he goes too far with his antics.
* BrownBagMask: His face remains hidden under a stack of these.
* ButtMonkey: Becomes this thanks to being the constant victim of Mikuni's jokes and pranks.
* CornerOfWoe: He occasionally sits in it when he gets too tired of [[{{Troll}} Mikuni's shenanigans]].
* ImprobableAimingSkills: he ShootTheBullet fired by both Tsuyuki and Cappuccino.
* TheFaceless: Nobody (except, perhaps, for Mikuni) knows how his face looks like. Early illustrations show him with his face unveiled, but those are a case of EarlyInstallmentWeirdness.
* TheGunslinger: He wields several guns in each hand.
* HairTriggerTemper: He gets very mad very easily, especially when Mikuni is concerned. Then again, this is [[{{Troll}} Mikuni]] we're talking about, so his anger may be pretty justified.
* {{Hikikomori}}: Before making a contract with [[spoiler:Mikuni's mother]] and later Mikuni, he used to hide in the Alicein mansion's basement for who knows how many generations, never interacting with anyone unless necessary.
* TheQuietOne: He talks little, and when he does, it's usually in mumbles.
* TheUnreveal: At one point Mikuni tasks the others with taking off his three bag masks, but just when his face is about to be revealed, Mikuni covers it up with his hat.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: With Mikuni, who makes a point of getting on his last nerve. He returns the favor by firing bullets at his Eve.

The fourth Servamp, the Servamp of Wrath. She always looks like she's about to kill someone, but surprisingly enough she's usually rather calm (which doesn't keep Lily from being terrified of her). Her current name and Eve have yet to be revealed. [[spoiler: With her previous Eve dead, she offers Tsurugi to take her as a Servamp. Which unfortunately didn't work out. But she did find herself a new Eve, Izuna Nobel.]]
-----

* ActionGirl: The strongest one in the story, strong enough to carry both Licht and Lawless under her arms like it's nothing.
* AMotherToHerMen: To her Sub-Classes, who have an UndyingLoyalty to her. [[spoiler:This is because many of her Sub-classes are fallen war soldiers who were rescued by Wrath while they are on the brink of death]].
* CoolBigSis: To World End, who calls her "Aneki".
* DeathGlare: Her default expression and very much PlayedForLaughs.
* FaceOfAThug: She looks scary, but she's a rather nice person and constantly needs to remind people that she's calm.
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler:She was this to her last Eve.]]
* MayflyDecemberRomance: [[spoiler:With her last Eve. She met him when he was still young, they got married, and she had to watch him grow old and die.]]
* MsFanservice: She leaves the top buttons of her shirt open, displaying her impressive cleavage.
* OneBadMother: Her alias. Zig-zagged, as she's not actually a bad person, just a little... [[FaceOfAThug intimidating]].
* PerpetualFrowner: Taken up to eleven with her perpetual DeathGlare.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: The only female Servamp.
* StatuesqueStunner: She's definitely way taller than Mahiru and probably at least the same height as most of her brothers.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lawless]]
[[WMG:'''Lawless/[[spoiler:Hyde]]''']]

The fifth Servamp, the Servamp of Greed, he is known for picking celebrities as his Eves and killing them as soon as he gets tired of them. Cheerful and energetic in nature, he doesn't get along with his current Eve, Licht. Acting is his passion and he is very prone to quoting Shakespeare at every opportunity.
-----

* AmbiguouslyBi: He used to be in love with [[spoiler:Ophelia]], and centuries later he finally gets over her thanks to Licht, in a way that none-too-lightly implies he may have started falling for him.
* BadassMindsThinkAlike: With [[spoiler:Licht, in their fight against Higan. They come up with a perfect strategy to stop him despite not having time to think about it beforehand.]]
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: With Licht. He often says or does silly things only to be kicked into tomorrow by his Eve.
* CannotSpitItOut: [[spoiler: He never managed to tell Ophelia he loved her.]]
* TheCynic: He believes that no one really matters in the world [[spoiler:- until Licht [[RousingSpeech talks him out of it]]]].
* CynicismCatalyst: [[spoiler:Ophelia's death and Kuro killing the creator of the Servamps shortly afterwards.]]
* [[DeliberatelyCuteChild Deliberately Cute Hedgehog]]: He knows his hedgehog form is adorable and he's not afraid to use it.
* DidNotGetTheGirl: [[spoiler:Ophelia married the prince of another country for political reasons and then died on him.]]
* {{Elopement}}: [[spoiler:He suggests this to Ophelia twice, the first time to get her out of an ArrangedMarriage and the second time to save her from her death sentence. She declines both times, putting the greater good over her own life and happiness.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Licht. Cheerful on the outside and cynical on the inside (to contrast with Licht's grumpy exterior and idealism), messy blonde hair with dark streaks to contrast Licht's straight dark hair with a white streak, his favorite color is gold when Licht's favorite color is silver, and even their birthdays are exactly six months apart.
* TheGadfly: He really likes messing with Licht and getting on his Eve's last nerve.
* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Convinced of this. He believes that nobody matters in the world, no matter what they do or how hard they try. [[spoiler:[[RousingSpeech Licht manages to change his mind.]]]]
* HasAType: A non-romantic example. He has a preferred type of Eves, always picking celebrities.
* {{Keet}}: He's a big ball of energy, much to Licht's annoyance.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: Post-CharacterDevelopment. He eventually starts looking up to Licht and is shown fanboying over how cool he is several times.
* TheLostLenore: He never got over [[spoiler:Ophelia's death]].
* MayflyDecemberRomance: A one-sided example with [[spoiler:Ophelia. He loved her, but she sacrificed her life for the sake of peace, leaving him unable to get over her death for centuries]].
* MeaningfulRename: At the beginning he has everyone call him Lawless, saying that he won't keep his current name for long anyway. Post-CharacterDevelopment, he lets the others call him [[spoiler:Hyde]].
* TheNicknamer: Nicknames like "Lichtan" and "Angel-chan" for Licht are his creations.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: He becomes more tearful and open about his emotions after [[spoiler:his defeat by Tsubaki.]]
* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: Or rather kicked across the room on a regular basis, courtesy of Licht.
* PurelyAestheticGlasses: Since he seems to be able to see just fine without them, they're probably not be prescription glasses.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Licht's blue.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Wears one.
* ShameIfSomethingHappened: He says a variation of this to a previous Eve in a flashback, telling her that she'd better watch out a short time before killing her.
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: Says as much to Licht during their fight.
* SkywardScream: [[spoiler:"OPHELIA!"]]
* StepfordSmiler: While he first appears as a cheerful, energetic guy, his demeanor hides a deeply cynical, disappointed individual who thinks nothing matters in the world.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: The Wise Guy to Licht's Straight Man (and annoyance).
* ThemeNaming: Match his name with [[spoiler:Licht's middle name and you get "Jekyll and Hyde".]]
* TookALevelInIdealism: After lots of CharacterDevelopment and a RousingSpeech from Licht he finally drops his "nothing matters in the world" attitude.
* VerbalTic: He likes adding "-ssu" to the end of his sentences.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Licht, eventually.
* WaistcoatOfStyle: He wears an open one over his shirt.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: With Licht, even after CharacterDevelopment ensues. They're almost never not fighting - at least verbally, and often also physically.
[[/folder]]

The sixth of the Servamps, the Servamp of Gluttony. Brash and hot-tempered as he is, he's still a decent guy on the inside who follows a strong code of who to hurt and not hurt. His name and Eve are still a mystery for the longest time until chapter 82 introduced his Eve and his name.
-----

* AnimeHair: His hair is either this or held up by an unhealthy amount of hair gel, what with the way it sticks up straight.
* BigEater: He's the Servamp of Gluttony, what did you expect?
* CutenessProximity: He can't raise a hand against cute animals - something Kuro exploits to avoid fights with him.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He is introduced crashing through a bush and yelling at Kuro to fight him. Kuro, obviously used to the whole deal, transforms into a cat, and while World End gets mad at him for taking such a cute form, he can't hurt him.
* ExtremeOmnivore: True to the sin he represents, he's always hungry and not picky about what he eats. He even eats his glass when first meeting Mahiru at the family restaurant.
* HotBlooded: So very much, as seen in his introduction alone.
* IncomingHam: His first appearance. As soon as he spots Kuro, he makes his way over to him, running right through a bush, yelling his name at the top of his lungs and challenging him to a fight.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Even though he acts hot-blooded and picks fights, he can't raise a hand against cute animals, sick or old people, women and children.
* LargeHam: He's very prone to yelling.
* WouldntHitAGirl: He'd never hurt a weak target, including women.
* WouldntHurtAChild: Of course, children are also on his off-limits list.

The youngest of the original Servamps, the Servamp of Lust. Lily has been serving the Alicein family for generations and is currently bound to Misono. He is friendly and charming and prone to stripping in public. Lily is a magic user who can create illusions and alter people's memories.
-----

* AgentPeacock: A skilled fighter and magic user and very concerned about his appearance - see DisproportionateRetribution below.
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Acts like one to Misono, stripping in public, teasing him or walking in on him when he's doing something embarrassing.
* TheAtoner: A variation, as he's not atoning for something he himself did but [[spoiler:for the ''sin'' he represents. He rescues and takes in unwanted children who were only born because of lust.]]
* BattleButler: To the Alicein family.
* BroughtDownToNormal: After [[spoiler:being stabbed by Otogiri. He gradually gets better.]]
* ChickMagnet: Thanks to his charming personality and [[MrFanservice his looks]].
* DisproportionateRetribution: In a fight against Berukia, he and Misono use a technique that basically crushes the opponent's soul. Lily's remark? "That's for cutting off a piece of my hair."
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: His very first appearance shows him undressing, with his shirt and pants about to fall down, complete with BishieSparkle.
* FriendToAllChildren: He takes in abandoned and dying children and brings them to the Alicein estate. Those who can be saved grow up normally, those who don't make it become vampires.
* GentleGiant: Lily stands at 190 cm and is probably the nicest of the Servamps.
* HairAntennae: Like Misono's IdiotHair, they're just a visual quirk and don't say much about his personality or intelligence.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Blonde and a very nice guy.
* LittleBrotherIsWatching: He doesn't smoke in front of any of the teens.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: Still a borderline example, but flashbacks show that his hair used to be much longer and tied into a side ponytail.
* MrFanservice: Even when he's fully dressed his shirt is still half unbuttoned, and he's very prone to undressing (much to Misono's annoyance).
* NiceGuy: Very nice and soft-spoken most of the time, even while fighting.
* NobodyTouchesTheHair: Berukia has to pay for cutting off some of his hair.
* OldRetainer: He doesn't look the part, but he's this to Misono, his father, grandfather and who knows how many more heads of the Alicein family, having served them for centuries.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: The others are seriously creeped out when he stops trying to undress after [[spoiler:Otogiri stabs him and he temporarily loses his powers.]]
-->'''Mahiru:''' [[LampshadeHanging This is normal, but also not normal!]]
* ParentalSubstitute: He's pretty much this to Misono, as his father is rarely home because of work and his mother is dead.
* PerpetualSmiler: The scenes where he ''doesn't'' smile are quite rare.
* PhraseCatcher: "Don't strip!"
* PrettyBoy: Hugh commented how he still happened to be beautiful even after a long while.
* RunningGag: His constant attempts to undress.
* SinisterScythe: He wields a gigantic one in fights.
* SmokingIsCool: Played with. While he's one of the good guys and is often shown smoking in a gentlemanlike manner, he acknowledges that it's not his best habit.
* SpidersAreScary: He's afraid of them.
* TheCharmer: He's quite a gentleman and has a way with ladies.
* TheChessmaster: [[spoiler:Had been manipulating the situation since centuries ago and is the cause of most events that happened in the story.]]
* TheGadfly: He likes messing with Misono.
* UndyingLoyalty: To the Alicein family and to Misono, his current Eve.

The protagonist of the series, a boy in his first year of high school. He lost his mother many years ago and now lives with his uncle, who is rarely home because of work. Mahiru is a kind, pragmatic boy who likes simple things and dislikes complicated ones.
-----
* AllLovingHero: Mahiru is nice to everyone by default, unless they hurt him or his friends. He's also unwilling to fight, let alone kill any vampires, and would rather make peace with Tsubaki and his crew.
* AllWorkVsAllPlay: The All Work to Kuro's All Play. He likes taking matters in his own hands and often gets annoyed when he thinks the others don't treat the situation seriously enough.
* BerserkButton: He doesn't like hurting others, but if you hurt his friends, run.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He'll try to befriend you even if you antagonize them. He'll try to talk things out. He'll give you a chance. But if you hurt innocents or his friends, you're screwed.
* BigBrotherMentor: Plays this role to Tetsu, who fittingly calls him "big brother Mahiru[[note]]"Mahiru no aniki"[[/note]]."
* BigDamnHeroes: With Kuro when [[spoiler:they come to the rescue of Misono, Lily and Tetsu, who are outnumbered and pretty much powerless against Tsubaki's subclass]].
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Tetsu, as pointed out by Kuro when he wonders if they get along so well because they're both simple.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: With Kuro at times, and also with Sakuya at the beginning. He always plays the "boke" part.
* BondingOverMissingParents: With Sakuya, [[spoiler:or so he thought.]]
* BroughtDownToNormal: [[spoiler:When Kuro is temporarily trapped in a ball and he loses the ability to use his Lead. They both get better.]]
* ChildhoodFriends: With Ryuusei, Koyuki and Sakuya. [[spoiler:Well, not with Sakuya.]]
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Always trying to save everyone. ''Everyone.'' Even his enemies.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: When [[spoiler:Kuro is trapped in a ball and he asks Tetsu to help get him back out using... a saw. Needless to say, it doesn't work.]]
-->'''Mahiru:''' Sorry, Kuro! I was wrong... I can't just rely on Tetsu's strength alone!
-->'''Kuro:''' (moved) Mahiru...
-->'''Mahiru:''' I need to do it myself!
-->'''Kuro:''' [[LampshadeHanging That wasn't the problem.]]
* CooldownHug: In the anime he gives one to [[spoiler:Tsubaki of all people after seeing his DarkAndTroubledPast, managing to get him to stop trying to kill him and Kuro at least for the moment]].
* CurbStompBattle: He and Kuro don't stand a chance against Tsubaki when they first meet him. [[spoiler:Later they're the ones curbstomping their opponents when they fly to Misono, Tetsu and Lily's rescue and defeat Tsubaki's subclass in no time at all.]]
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Brown hair and brown eyes.
* {{Determinator}}: Once he decides he'll do something he does it. No matter what.
* DisappearedDad: His father is never even mentioned. Mahiru probably doesn't know him at all.
* DynamicEntry: With Kuro, when returning in a BigDamnHeroes moment after Kuro recovers from his HeroicBSOD. They crash in through the window. ''At the very top of a skyscraper.''
* EmbarrassingNickname: "[=MahiMahi=]", in the drama and character [=CDs=].
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Him bursting into the class, which is currently discussing the tasks for the school festival café, and scolding them for debating for such a long time. He then says that he already tried making some cookies, lets his classmates try some, and when they remask that the cookies are delicious even though they're simple, he declares, "Simple is best!" Enough said.
* FireForgedFriends:
** With Kuro. They disliked each other in the beginning, but after facing a lot of dangers together, they're practically inseparable (which doesn't keep them from bickering).
** A minor example is him and Misono. They didn't get along at first, but quickly discovered that they had the same goal, and Mahiru soon ended up calling Misono his friend.
* {{Foil}}: To Kuro. He is a kind-hearted, if somewhat temperamental boy who reaches out to people and wants to help anyone and everyone, while Kuro is withdrawn and more of an AntiHero.
* GiverOfLameNames: Misono accuses him of being this for giving Kuro such a simple and uncreative name.
* TheHeart: He's the one who brought the team together and keeps it together, as well as the one who gives everyone courage.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Kuro, especially after the latter goes through some CharacterDevelopment.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: He simply can't tell who to trust or not trust, and he's aware of that flaw.
* HotBlooded: Has his moments. He gets fired up or angry pretty easily - the latter is usually Kuro's fault.
* HouseHusband: He qualifies even though he's single, doing all the housework chores by himself. Kuro has even nicknamed him "Housewife".
* HowDoIShotWeb: It takes him a while to figure out how to summon and use his Lead after he gets it, let alone what exactly to do with it in the first place.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: His Lead is a broom. [[spoiler:Ultimately subverted when it powers up and turns into a spear.]]
* KindheartedCatLover: Implied. He did take cat!Kuro in, name him, and really seemed to like his new pet, after all.
* KirkSummation: Gives one to Tsubaki at their first meeting, telling him to face his emotions and his situation. Tsubaki, of course, [[ShutUpKirk won't]] [[TalkToTheFist listen]].
* LikeAnOldMarriedCouple: With Kuro. They're never not bickering, unless the situation is very serious.
* MagneticHero: Since he's so kind, it's very easy for him to capture people's hearts and draw them over to his side, sometimes resulting in ConflictingLoyalty on their part.
* MeaningfulName: "Mahiru" means "noon", the brightest time in a day, a possible reference as him being the leader in their little team against Tsubaki, it is also a sharp contrast to "Kuro"
* MissingMom: His mother died when he was still in elementary school.
* NaiveNewcomer: New to the world of the Servamps, he's often the one who [[TheWatson asks questions so the audience can understand what's going on.]]
* TheNapoleon: Not to the degree of Misono, but he's one of the shortest characters and quite HotBlooded.
* NeatFreak: He doesn't like it when Kuro makes a mess and takes cleaning very seriously.
* NiceGuy: He is one of the nicest people in the series, even though he will fight back if he thinks it's necessary.
* OnlyFriend: To Misono and Sakuya before they both also found other friends, and also to Kuro, who doesn't seem to be close to anyone except him for a long time.
* OnlySaneMan: So much. He is often responsible for LampshadeHanging whenever things start getting crazy around him.
** NotSoAboveItAll: Has his moments though, especially during scenes where he acts like the protagonist of a standard shounen manga. Kuro is [[LampshadeHanging quick to point it out]].
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Just a normal high school freshman who just happens to pick up the Servamp of Sloth in cat form and make a contract with him.
* PowerOfTrust: A firm believer in this, and manages to pull many a jaded or proud character over to his side with it.
* ThePromise:
** He promises Sakuya to stop Tsubaki and end the war, [[spoiler:as it's the only way they can be friends again.]]
** [[spoiler:He later also gives one to Kuro, promising him to face whatever Kuro can't face alone for him and be someone his Servamp can rely on as much as he relies on his Servamp.]]
* RealMenCook: He has to, seeing as he has to take care of himself most of the time.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Kuro's blue.
* SeriousBusiness: Everything he takes care of becomes this to him, no matter if it's cleaning, schoolwork or the war of the Servamps. Kuro has to remind him to relax a little.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: He got quite a few of his quirks from his uncle, including his love of simple things. They also both show perfectly identical reactions to first stumbling across human Kuro in the apartment.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: The Straight Man to Sakuya's and occasionally Kuro's Wise Guy.
* SupremeChef: His entire class loves his cooking, even though (or, according to him, because) it's fairly simple.
* TeamMom: More hot-tempered than the usual team mom, but there's still a reason why Kuro likes to nickname him "Housewife" or "Mommy". He's also the one who keeps the team together.
* TearsOfRemorse: [[spoiler:He cries them when Kuro enters his abnormal state (triggered by his HeroicBSOD) and he can't even see him or hear his voice for awhile and thinks he's lost forever. He tearfully apologizes to Kuro, realizing that all he ever did was rely on his power instead of supporting his Servamp like he should have. His speech actually manages to partly bring Kuro back.]]
* TechnicalPacifist: He's very firmly opposed to killing anyone, and he'd rather resolve the conflict by talking than fighting, but he's willing to defend himself and his friends in a fight if necessary.
* ThouShaltNotKill: Very firmly believes in this and also tries to persuade his allies to follow the same rule.
* TookALevelInBadass:
** He gradually gets better and better at using his Lead.
** He takes a ''massive'' one after [[spoiler:snapping Kuro out of his HeroicBSOD. It's enough for him and Kuro to [[CurbStompBattle singlehandedly destroy Tsubaki's subclass when their friends are powerless against them]].]]
* TrueCompanions: With pretty much his entire team, but especially with Kuro - even though it [[LikeAnOldMarriedCouple doesn't]] [[VitriolicBestBuds always]] [[AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther show]].
* UndyingLoyalty: To his friends.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Kuro. As long as everything's all right, they don't stop bickering, but when one of them gets in trouble it becomes clear how much they actually care for each other.
* WeirdnessMagnet: Somehow he always ends up running into vampires, other Eves, or C3 as soon as he goes out on the street.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: [[spoiler:With Sakuya, who cut off their friendship after discovering that they're technically enemies. He still views him as a friend though.]]
* WideEyedIdealist: The other characters (especially Misono) occasionally call him out for being too kind and idealistic. Mahiru doesn't care.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: A mild example. He can be short-tempered or naive at times, but he's much more reasonable and emotionally mature than most sixteen-year-olds.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Says as much to Kuro.
* YouAreNotAlone: He tells this to many people, such as Misono, Sakuya, Kuro and more.
* YouHaveToBelieveMe: His explanation that his harmless-looking new cat can talk and is actually a vampire just makes his friends think he's gone nuts. The fact that he is still shocked and excited by the discovery himself and Kuro's lack of cooperation don't exactly help his case.

The first Eve Mahiru meets, Misono is a first year in high school and the Eve of the Servamp of Lust, Snow Lily. He is a rather proud, very intelligent boy who has trouble showing his real emotions. He has lots of vampire children, Lily's subclass, staying at his house.
-----

* AliceAllusion: His last name.
* AmusingInjuries: Suffers from these on a regular basis - he's pretty clumsy when he's not getting down to business.
* BadassBookworm: He is smart, great at making plans, and most of his fighting tactics involve outsmarting the enemy rather than using brute strength.
* BadLiar: According to Lily, one can always see it from a mile away if he's hiding something.
* BigFancyHouse: Lives in one.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: The Little Guy to Tetsu's Big Guy.
* BrainsAndBrawn: Brains to Tetsu's brawn.
* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:His backstory. When he was younger his stepmother attempted to kill him out of jealousy for his real mother; back then he thought she was his real mom and had to witness Mikuni forming a bond with Jeje and killing her to save his life. No wonder Lily sealed those memories away.]]
* ButtMonkey: Not to the same degree as Shuuhei, but he's still prone to having small accidents, falling asleep mid-sentence, and generally messing up whenever he looks cool for more than a minute.
* TheChessmaster: Responsible for making plans and outsmarting others.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: According to Lily's subclass, he still believes in SantaClaus.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Purple hair and purple eyes.
* [[DefrostingIceQueen Defrosting Ice King]]: He acts very cold and aloof at the beginning, but eventually mellows out and becomes nicer as he opens up to the others.
* DoesNotKnowHowToSayThanks: He has a lot of trouble thanking Mahiru and Tetsu whenever they help him out.
* EmbarrassingNickname: He doesn't exactly appreciate Tetsu calling him "Chibi."
* FashionableAsymmetry: His school uniform jacket is two different shades of purple on both sides.
* {{Foil}}: To Tetsu - he's physically weak but a quick thinker, experienced Eve and has a desire to be in charge, while Tetsu is physically strong but neither very smart nor experienced as an Eve and doesn't want to take responsibility. He's also socially awkward and has trouble conveying his emotions while Tetsu is very open about what he thinks.
* FriendlessBackground: Before meeting Mahiru, he didn't have a single friend.
* FriendshipMoment: Shares quite a few of these with Tetsu, such as the latter helping him break open the door to the building where Mikuni's room was and saying he does it because they're friends, or him comforting Tetsu after [[spoiler:Hugh is defeated]].
* FriendToAllChildren: He deeply cares for the vampire kids resting at his mansion and is occasionally shown playing with little children. Misono being [[{{Tsundere}} Misono]], he'd never admit any of that, of course.
* GivingSomeoneThePointerFinger: Very prone to doing this when yelling at Lily not to strip.
* HopelessWithTech: Doesn't even know how to reply to texts, let alone handle the drink dispensers at the karaoke parlor and Tetsu's place.
* IdiotHair: Sports one that's huge even by anime standards. Some characters even call him "Ahoge" as a nickname.
* InSeriesNickname: "[[IdiotHair Ahoge]]" (courtesy of many people) and "Chibi" (courtesy of Tetsu).
* InsufferableGenius: Shows shades of this. He ''is'' rather proud of his brains.
* TheKlutz: He's pretty accident-prone when he's not getting serious in a fight, and bonus pages also show that he can't dance, among other things.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: He doesn't remember [[spoiler:Mikuni killing their mother because Lily sealed his memories away]].
* LastNameBasis: Calls everyone by their last name (if available).
* LonelyRichKid: His loneliness has nothing to do with his money though. It's mostly because he's a socially awkward and sickly and can't go out much.
* MundaneObjectAmazement: He's awed and confused by a drink dispenser and the karaoke machine (although that's also because he's HopelessWithTech), and in the second drama CD he gets very excited about sitting under a kotatsu and eating "commoners' nabe."
* MundaneUtility: His Lead is a chair. While he can perform some amazing tricks with it, he's also seen summoning it when he just wants to sit down.
* TheNapoleon: His temper is as short as he is.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Tetsu mistakes him for an elementary school kid when they first meet.
* OutGambitted: [[spoiler:By Tsubaki in the Greed arc, thanks to him pulling a KansasCityShuffle.]]
* PaperThinDisguise: At least, thin enough for Sakuya to see through it in an instant when [[spoiler:they infiltrate the hotel where the Greed pair is held captive]]. Seeing as he even wore platform shoes to make himself taller, Misono is understandably upset.
* PrettyBoy: One of Mahiru's female classmates remarks that he has a pretty face.
* PrincelyYoungMan: Appears to be a mixture of the SpoiledBrat type and the [[IceQueen Ice King]] type at first, but is ultimately a nice person who's tired of being sheltered and pampered.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Purple-haired, purple-eyed, often found wearing purple, and from a rich and noble background.
* ShelteredAristocrat: Is he ever. He's been spoiled, babied and protected from the world outside by Lily and his father and is rather out of touch with normal teens' everyday life as a result.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: The shortest human member of the main cast and also the smartest.
* SiblingYinYang: With Mikuni. Aside from their intelligence and them both being Eves, they have next to nothing in common.
* SirSwearsALot: He's prone to insulting people a lot, hence his nickname "Bastard-chan" (courtesy of Kuro).
* TheSmartGuy: Probably the smartest member of the cast, along with Mikuni.
* {{Sleepyhead}}: He always falls asleep at the same time of the day, no matter where he is or what he's doing at that exact moment.
* SmartPeoplePlayChess: He likes to play it and is very good at it, only losing to Mikuni and his father.
* TheStrategist: The team's brain and the one to come up with strategies. [[spoiler:Subverted when he's brutally OutGambitted by Tsubaki.]]
* TeenGenius: He deduces where [[spoiler:Tsubaki took Licht and Hyde]], all just based on a few facts and the pictures on Higan's cell phone.
* TerribleArtist: His [[AllThereInTheManual character sheet]] reveals that one of his worst subjects is art.
* {{Tsundere}}: Oh Misono, just admit that you care about your friends and family, it's glaringly obvious anyway.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Pictures from his childhood often show him smiling, something that he rarely does anymore. Apparently he only became the grumpy {{Tsundere}} he is after some [[DarkAndTroubledPast stuff]] [[BreakTheCutie happened]].
* WhenSheSmiles: Not his cocky smirk, but the genuine smile (or half-smile) that occasionally crosses his face.

Misono's older brother and Eve of the Servamp of Envy, Mikuni is an eccentric young man who likes to mess with people, especially Jeje. He is a mentor to Mahiru and affiliated with C3; sometimes it's hard to say whose side he's on.
-----

* TheAce: He's probably the strongest of all the Eves who have been introduced so far.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Just whose side is he on?
* BigBrotherInstinct: Towards Misono.
* BigBrotherMentor: To Misono in their childhood, and also to Mahiru in the present day, although it's downplayed in the latter case.
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Tsurugi, to the point where people blame the latter's influence for his current attitude and personality.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: With Jeje - he plays the "boke" part, messing with his Servamp until the latter has enough and starts attacking him.
* CompanionCube: His doll (and Lead) Abel - he acts like it's a real girl and the pretends that the others treat it as one... usually:
-->'''Mahiru:''' Why don't you just marry your Abel if you love her so much?
-->'''Mikuni:''' [[HypocriticalHumor Are you kidding? That's a doll!]] Are you okay...?
-->'''Mahiru:''' (to himself) This guy is getting on my nerves!
* CrazyPeoplePlayChess[=/=]SmartPeoplePlayChess: And he's even better at it than Misono.
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: He used to be Shuuhei's senpai back in high school.
* FedoraOfAsskicking: His hat, to go with his overall adventurer outfit.
* TheGadfly: Very much so, to Jeje's chagrin.
* IdiotHair: Without his hat. It's not nearly as gigantic as Misono's though.
* {{Matricide}}: [[spoiler:He killed his own mother to protect Misono's life.]]
* MrExposition: Especially in the anime, where he doesn't simply explain how to kill a subclass, but also [[spoiler:how to "kill" a Servamp.]]
* PerpetualSmiler: He's almost always smiling or even laughing, even if some of his smiles tend to fall into the [[TheUnSmile creepy]] category. It's also another trait he shares with Tsurugi.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: His yellow scarf qualifies.
* SiblingYinYang: He and Misono could hardly be more different.
* SitcomArchNemesis: The way he and Tsurugi usually act around each other.
* SpeakInUnison: A RunningGag with Tsurugi, to both their [[SitcomArchNemesis annoyance]].
* {{Troll}}: Towards Jeje, making him do things for him to earn the right to drink his blood but not letting him drink it after all.
* UnPerson: [[spoiler:At the Alicein mansion since he left after killing his mother to save Misono's life. 479* VitriolicBestBuds: With Jeje, according to Mahiru.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: He and Tsurugi used to be teammates and even shared a room. These days they hate each other's guts.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: With Jeje. They spend most of their time getting on each other's nerves - or rather, he gets on Jeje's nerves and Jeje tries to shoot him.

A boy Mahiru met at a street festival and the Eve of the Servamp of Pride, Hugh. [[spoiler:Or so it appears to be at first]]. Tetsu is a straightforward, simple-minded boy and absurdly strong. He sees the whole vampire business rather calmly and is never upset by anything. His family owns an onsen.
-----
* BigBrotherWorship: Towards Mahiru. They're not really brothers, but Tetsu looks up to him and calls him "big brother Mahiru." Also has this towards Yumikage, he dyed his hair blond to mimic him.
* TheBigGuy: He's in charge of throwing heavy things or punching out enemies.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: The Big Guy to Misono's Little Guy. He's also the Big Guy to Hugh's Little Guy.
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Mahiru, as lampshaded by Kuro. "They get along so well... is it because they're both simple?"
* BookDumb: He doesn't know much, and he doesn't like to think a lot, but he might be smarter than he thinks. Tetsu ''can'' occasionally come up with some pretty smart things, although they're probably mostly based on his gut feeling.
* BrainsAndBrawn: Brawn to Misono's brains. Also the brawn to Hugh's brains.
* BrutalHonesty: He has no problem saying whatever he thinks at the moment and can end up becoming InnocentlyInsensitive.
* CatchPhrase: "Hugh, you always say nice things."
* TheDitz: According to Hugh, he can't remember more than two things at a time.
* DumbBlonde: A {{Gender Flip}}ped example. He has blond hair and blue eyes and is rather BookDumb.
* DumbMuscle: Subverted; he seems to think of himself as this, but he might not be as stupid as he thinks he is, he just doesn't want to think too much.
* EasilyImpressed: Somewhat downplayed because of his [[TheStoic personality]], but still noticeable. He finds pretty much everything his friends and allies do great and amazing, even when the others are more critical.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He approaches Mahiru at the festival, asking for his help to find a coffin. When Mahiru asks what's inside it, Tetsu calmly tells him there's a vampire sleeping in it.
* FamilyBusiness: His family's onsen, which he is supposed to inherit later on.
* FantasticallyIndifferent: So the new guest is a vampire and wants the best room, but doesn't want sunlight to enter it? Just cover the windows with wood! Conjured up a ginormous black coffin and can't get rid of it again? Okay, might as well use it as an ad for the family's onsen.
* {{Foil}}:
** To Hugh. While his Servamp is an adult in a child's body, Tetsu is a child in the body of an adult.
** To Misono, too. While Misono is weak but smart, an experienced Eve, socially awkward and a great leader, Tetsu is strong but neither very smart nor very experienced as an Eve and has no desire to lead but says whatever is on his mind.
* FriendshipMoment: Has quite a handful of these with Misono.
* GentleGiant: The tallest human character and a NiceGuy to the core.
* HiddenDepths: [[AllThereInTheManual His character sheet]] reveals that he's a member of the calligraphy club and can play shogi.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: He fights using a coffin.
* InnocentBlueEyes: His eyes are usually used to this effect. They turn into IcyBlueEyes when [[spoiler:he's angry and upset after losing Hugh]] though.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: He shows shades of this. Sometimes he will say insulting things to others without realizing they're insulting.
-->(when Misono and Hugh are calling each other midgets)
-->'''Tetsu:''' But you're both midgets.
* InstantExpert: Played with. On one hand, he was able to summon his Lead coffin immediately after making a contract with Hugh, but on the other hand he has no idea [[PowerIncontinence how to get rid of it]].
* ItsAllMyFault: [[spoiler:He blames himself for Hugh's complete and utter defeat at Tsubaki's hands, thinking he wasn't strong enough to carry out Misono's plan and protect his Servamp.]] Misono disagrees.
* MundaneUtility: Also uses his Lead coffin to carry Hugh around, and he even wrote an advertisement for the family's onsen on it.
* NiceGuy: He doesn't reach out to people the way Mahiru does, but he is calm, friendly, and quick to call people his friends.
* TheNicknamer: Calls Misono "Chibi" and Licht "big bro Angel".
* NotSoStoic: When [[spoiler:Tsubaki takes Hugh away from him]], he's visibly upset.
* PowerIncontinence: He's been carrying his Lead coffin around everywhere because he has no idea how to get rid of it.
* SleevesAreForWimps: He wears an open white shirt over a blue tank top, and the shirt's sleeves are rolled up to his shoulders.
* TheStoic: Nothing ''ever'' upsets him. He can't even think of anything he dislikes.
* SuperStrength: He threw that gigantic coffin with Mahiru and Kuro on top onto the roof of Misono's BigFancyHouse. Another time, he broke down a door with his bare hands.
* WorkoutFanservice: A color page shows him doing one-handed push-ups with a small table on his back.
* YouCalledMeXItMustBeSerious: He drops the "Chibi" nickname and calls Misono by name when [[spoiler:asking him what to do when they're outnumbered and OutGambitted by Tsubaki's gang and Hugh is gone]].
* YoungerThanTheyLook: He's ''fourteen.'' Most people mistake him for an adult.

Eve of the Servamp of Greed, Licht is a young piano prodigy and already quite famous for his age. He likes to refer to himself as an angel and seems to be aloof at first, but he is a firm believer in hard work and the power of dreams. He and Lawless can't stand each other.
-----

* AdaptationDyeJob: His eye color changed from blue-violet-ish (depending on the illustration) in the manga to a brighter, icy shade of blue in the anime.
* AffectionateNickname: "Angel-chan" and "Lichtan," both given to him by Lawless.
* AloofAlly: Becomes one to the rest of the team. He has some trouble telling Mahiru that he acknowledges him though.
* BadassMindsThinkAlike: With [[spoiler:Hyde, in the fight against Higan. They work out a perfect strategy in seconds, despite not having time to think OR communicate.]]
* BerserkButton: Lawless. He's not exactly fond of cynics and people without dreams either.
* BishieSparkle: PlayedForLaughs. The anime accompanies his "Because I'm an angel" pose with a rainbow-colored sparkling circle surrounding him like an aura.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: With Lawless. He's very prone to kicking his Servamp across the room whenever he's acting goofy. Which is a lot.
* BrutalHonesty: He always says everything that's on his mind. Most of the time, these thoughts aren't the nicest but some can be rather helpful.
* ButNotTooForeign: He is half Japanese and half Austrian.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: The second drama CD reveals that just eating alcohol-filled chocolates is enough to get him seriously drunk.
* CatchPhrase: "Why? Because I'm an angel."
* ChildProdigy: He started out as this, making his debut in a piano contest at age 7.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: In spades. First there's the whole angel thing, then there's his complete and utter cluelessness about Japan (and complete belief in all myths and legends he ever heard about the country, at age eighteen), and later we also get a glimpse of one of his daydreams when he imagines himself and hedgehog Lawless walking over fluffy clouds together. It takes Lawless all he has not to laugh out loud.
* TheComicallySerious: He can say the most ridiculous things without batting an eye. Trust someone else (usually Lawless) to [[LampshadeHanging lampshade]] it immediately.
* CutenessProximity: The reason why he took Hedgehog!Lawless in was because he was so cute. He also seems to have a weakness for cute animals in general, as seen when he's playing a game about taking care of pets while staying over at Mahiru's.
* [[DefrostingIceQueen Defrosting Ice King]]: He grows less aloof as the story goes on and reluctantly starts showing that he does care about his friends - even [[VitriolicBestBuds Lawless]].
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: Occasionally lapses into this when yelling at Lawless, resulting in such gems as "I'll kill you until you are dead" and "Die until you die!"
* {{Determinator}}: He's ambitious and believes that he can do anything if he wants it and keeps trying.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: His [[EstablishingCharacterMoment "Because I'm an angel" pose]] becomes a hundred times flashier and over-the-top (and funnier) with the help of a colorful sparkly background.
* {{Foil}}: To Lawless, to a T. While his Servamp has dark streaks in his light messy hair and is as cheerful as he is cynical, he has a white streak in his straight black hair and seems to be a jerk at first, but is actually an idealist to the core. It even extends to such things as their favorite colors (silver and gold, respectively) and their birthdays (June 24 and December 24).
* FoodAsBribe: [[spoiler:C3 lures him into captivity by promising him melon.]] It works like a charm.
* FunnyForeigner: Downplayed but still noticeable; he's often found marveling at many Japanese customs and traditions like a typical tourist and has quite a few unrealistic or romanticized preconceptions about the country.
* HairTriggerTemper: He's very quick to lose his temper, especially when Lawless is involved.
* HardWorkFallacy: His mindset, as opposed to Lawless's HardWorkHardlyWorks way of thinking. He thinks "talent" is superficial and anyone can do anything they want if they just work hard enough.
* IconicItem: His angel-winged backpack.
* IcyBlueEyes: Matching his harsh, often cold exterior - when they're not depicted as violet, anyway. Played straight in the anime, where they're a lighter, more piercing shade of blue.
* TheIdealist: In spades.
* InstantExpert: He summoned his Lead boots literal seconds after forming the contract with Lawless and immediately knew how to use them perfectly.
* InsufferableGenius: Not proud of his brains, but proud enough of his skills as a pianist to call himself an angel. The bonus {{Yonkoma}} side stories reveal that it's mostly his mother's fault.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's full of himself, has a bad temper, and is often childish, but he also believes in the power of dreams and imagination, gets stronger when he has someone to protect, and berates Lawless for not having a single dream.
* KickChick: A male example. His preferred fighting method is kicking people around, and he's got the long legs to match.
* ManChild: He can be rather childish, especially when fighting with his Servamp.
* MeaningfulName: "Licht" is "light" in German, matching the "light and shadow" theme with Lawless. For the meaning of his middle name, see ThemeNaming below.
* NoSenseOfHumor: He keeps a straight face at pretty much every ridiculousness thrown at him, including the weird stuff he says and does himself, and gets mad when Lawless finds him hilarious.
* PerpetualFrowner: While, unlike Kuro, he ''can'' smile at times, he's usually seen scowling.
* RedBaron: "Angel of Music".
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Lawless's red.
* RightlySelfRighteous: [[ZigZaggingTrope Zig-zagged.]] His idealism is very much treated as right, but he is poked fun at for calling the vampires "demons".
* RousingSpeech: Gives an epic one to [[spoiler:Lawless. It works.]]
* SillyRabbitCynicismIsForLosers: Says as much to Lawless.
* SirSwearsALot: Does he ever. He has quite the vocabulary of nasty words, especially in fights with Lawless.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: The Straight Man to Lawless's Wise Guy.
* SweetTooth: He loves absolutely anything that's sweet. Melon. Kuro's birthday cake. [[CantHoldHisLiquor Brandy chocolates.]] Anything.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Taller than most of the human characters? Check. Black hair? {{Bishonen}}? Check and check.
* ThemeNaming: With [[spoiler:Hyde. Jekyll and Hyde, anyone?]] Also invoked by him, as he was the one who gave his Servamp that name in the first place.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Melon. So much that [[spoiler:C3 tricks him into captivity by telling him they have a lot of leftover melons and need someone to eat them.]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: With [[spoiler:Hyde]], eventually.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: With Lawless. Even post-CharacterDevelopment they're almost always fighting.
* YouCanBarelyStand: [[spoiler:In the second fight against Higan, who heavily injured him before. Licht [[{{Determinator}} still manages to stand up and fight]] and even defeat Higan with Hyde's help.]]

The only named female C3 member so far, Tinker is a friendly and slightly ditzy young woman who likes creating different gadgets. Aside from that, very little is known about her. [[spoiler:She's the new Eve of Wrath]].
-----

* AdaptedOut: The anime replaced her appearance with Tsurugi, Yumikage and Jun.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Shuuhei.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Everyone just knows her as Tinker, and she's the team engineer.
* GadgeteerGenius: She just loves to create new high-tech assets.
* GeniusDitz: She's great when it comes to technological gadgets, but other than that, she can be clumsy and forgetful.
* GenkiGirl: Nice, cheerful and open about all her emotions.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She has long blonde hair (or light brown, depending on the illustration) and is by far the nicest member of C3.
* InnocentBlueEyes: Her eyes are a dark shade of blue and help to make her look cuter.
* MadScientist: From Mikuni's point of view. She's always trying to talk him into letting her turn Abel into a robot girl.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler: She was not happy when she found out that her inventions were used to take down vampires by the C3]].
* [[NiceGuy Nice Girl]]: Probably the nicest member of C3.
* NoNameGiven: For the longest time she was just known as Tinker, with no real name given. Recent chapters reveal her real name to be [[spoiler:Izuna Nobel]].
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: So far, she is the only female Eve in the group (Discounting some of the previous Eves the Servamps once had in the past).

The main antagonist of the series. He is the eighth Servamp, the Servamp of Melancholy, who the original Servamps didn't know existed. For some reason or other he wants to start a war against his "older siblings"; he seems to have an ulterior motive but it has yet to be revealed.
-----

* AchillesHeel: [[spoiler:It's been hinted that he might be this for the Servamps. He claims to hold the secret to actually killing them.]]
* AnimalMotifs: A fox.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: To the Servamps, in more light-hearted moments and drama CD stories. [[CainAndAbel Otherwise, however...]]
* AsianFoxSpirit: His two-tailed fox form fits the theme, just like his personality.
* BerserkerTears: Cries them when [[spoiler:Lawless kills off an entire concert hall full of his subclass and he proceeds to personally seek revenge.]]
* BigBad: The main antagonist of the story.
* ButtMonkey: In many a bonus story or drama CD plot. Nothing he tries during those ever works out.
* CainAndAbel: The Cain to all the other Servamps' Abel.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: Played with. He's fine with most kinds of alcohol, but the second drama CD reveals that one single glass of wine will get him dead drunk.
* CatchPhrase: "Ahahahahahahahahahahaha! Ahh... [[MoodSwinger Boring.]]"
* CoolShades: His sunglasses.
* CornerOfWoe: He's very prone to sulking in it, especially in the {{Yonkoma}} [[BonusMaterial side stories]], usually when he's on the receiving end of Sakuya's BrutalHonesty.
* DoubleTake: Does one in a yonkoma omake when he finds a stuffed fox that looks identical to his animal form online.
-->'''Sakuya:''' I might actually buy it.
-->'''Tsubaki:''' AH HA HA HA HA HA HA--
-->'''Tsubaki:''' (suddenly serious) ''What?''
* DramaQueen: Has a tendency to get depressed when people aren't treating him nicely enough - especially [[BrutalHonesty Sakuya]].
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: The protagonists note that he deeply cares for each and every one of his subclass, no matter how insignificant. [[FlawExploitation They make use of it at some point.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He claims that even if he gets stabbed in the back, he would never stab someone else in the back. Judging from his subclass' loyalty to him, this seems to be true.
* ExactWords: He uses this to [[spoiler:make Mahiru and the others think he's separating Licht and Hyde (which would kill them). In fact, he said he ''didn't know'' if he would let them stay together, and Sakuya insists that he never said he would separate them - that's just how the others interpreted it.]]
* AFatherToHisMen: He cares about every single one of his subclass, no matter how small, weak or unimportant they may seem.
* TheGadfly: Likes messing with Sakuya and playing old-fashioned pranks on him.
* HatesBeingAlone: He's shown to be very lonely after [[spoiler:cutting ties with his subclass and continuing the war on his own because he doesn't want anyone he holds dear to get hurt]].
* HeightAngst: An [[BonusMaterial Omake]] reveals that he suffers from this. When he had to be measured for his character sheet, he refused to do it without his 9cm getas (wooden sandals).
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Berukia. They're BirdsOfAFeather, after all.
* HiddenAgendaVillain: Sure, he wants to start a war, but ''why'' does he want to start it?
* IdleRich: He's apparently ''very'' well off financially (see VampiresAreRich below), but there's never a clue as to his source of income.
* ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies: [[spoiler:After getting a large number of his subclass killed and discovering that all of his strongest fighters suffered a crushing defeat, he chooses to cut all ties with them and continue the war alone lest he drag anyone else in.]]
* ItsPersonal: While he's after all the Servamps for an as-yet unknown reason, [[spoiler:he gets positively furious after Lawless kills off an entire concert hall full of his subclass and proceeds to personally go after him for revenge.]]
* KansasCityShuffle: How he outsmarts Misono [[spoiler:during the Greed Pair rescue mission. He tricked him into thinking he was separating Licht and Hyde, and Misono concluded that his subclass were split up guarding them, when really they were only separated by a wall. Misono ends up making a plan not suitable for the situation, which causes his plan to fail.]]
* KatanasAreJustBetter: He often wields one, matching his overall traditional Japanese motif.
* KimonoIsTraditional: Always wears one, also matching the traditional Japanese motif.
* KnightOfCerebus: Every time he appears on the scene (not counting the occasional VillainsOutShopping episodes) the story is guaranteed to get a lot darker. [[spoiler:He might even defy the Servamps' PlotArmor, claiming that he's the key to actually killing them.]]
* LargeHam: His laugh deserves special mention. He's not as hammy as Berukia though.
* LaughingMad: His laugh indicates that he's pretty off the wall. In one of the 4-koma side stories, Berukia remarks that him laughing a lot means he's in a bad mood.
* ManipulativeBastard: He sure knows how to get everyone, especially his opponents, right where he wants them.
* MeaningfulName: "Tsubaki" means "camellia," a flower often used to symbolize death.
* MoodSwinger: He cracks up about something in one minute and calls it boring in the next. Tsubaki actually acknowledges it during his first appearance.
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler:Sending hundreds and hundreds of his subclass to their deaths when thoroughly underestimating how strong Lawless is and having them infiltrate Licht's concert.]]
* MysteriousPast: Since his past is probably closely connected to [[HiddenAgendaVillain his motive]], only a few hints of it have been dropped. All we know is that [[spoiler:he used to be held captive by C3 for some reason]].
* ThePromise: He once promised [[spoiler:little Sakuya that when the time came for him to die like his sister had, he'd be there to turn him into a vampire.]] [[IGaveMyWord He kept it.]]
* PsychopathicManchild: Rather childish and a little oversensitive... and hell-bent on starting a war.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: His outfit is mostly black with some red (not counting the white cape, but even that's dip-dyed red) and the colors even extend to his hair and eyes.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Sakuya's blue, blue to Berukia's red.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: He's personally out for blood after [[spoiler:Lawless kills all the subclass he sent after him]].
* ShutUpKirk: Mahiru tells him to face his fears and emotions during their very first encounter. His reaction is to brush it off and attack.
* SignatureLaugh: See CatchPhrase above.
* StealthHiBye: Has some moments of this, such as when he visits Otogiri in her introduction scene and suddenly disappears without warning. Otogiri's reaction implies that this happens a lot.
* SuperiorSuccessor: Unlike the seven original Servamps and their offspring, he and his subclass are immune to sunlight.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Well... not ''[[HeightAngst that]]'' [[HeightAngst tall]], but still very handsome, charming and mysterious when he's not being goofy.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Cheap sushi and pretty much anything matcha flavored.
* UnknownRival: To the Servamps at the beginning. They didn't even know he existed until he appeared out of nowhere and declared war on them.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Mahiru seems to completely ignore the fact that [[AsianFoxSpirit Tsubaki's]] fox form has [[MultipleTailedBeast two tails]], wondering if it's a dog instead.
* VampiresAreRich: Rich enough to rent the upper floors of the fancy Tokyo Worldtree Hotel on a long-term basis, apparently. Where he gets it remains a mystery.
* VillainsOutShopping: Aside from the war he's started, he lives a perfectly normal life with his squad, and there's many a yonkoma omake centering on it.

Mahiru's best friend and classmate. Sakuya is known for being a joker, and he knows a lot of rumors about vampires in the area and likes to tell his friends about them with a scary face for maximum effect. In fact, Sakuya is a vampire himself and part of Tsubaki's team. He is torn between his loyalty towards Tsubaki and his friendship with Mahiru.
-----
* AdvertisedExtra: The amount of merch he's included in is definitely not proportional to his screen-time. His popularity with the fans might be a possible explanation for that though.
* AbusiveParents: The worst parents one could possibly imagine. See DarkAndTroubledPast below.
* AnimeHair: His side curl defies all laws of logic and physics.
* BackstoryInvader: Mahiru believes he has been best friends with Sakuya since they were kids. In reality, he has known him for only a year, and Sakuya is a vampire who created these fake memories to fit in with Mahiru and his other ChildhoodFriends. Mahiru remembers their real first meeting after the truth comes out.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The reason why he likes Mahiru so much is because the latter reached out to him and treated him nicely. Also the reason why he's so loyal to Tsubaki, as the latter was the first person to be honest with him and be true to his word.
* BeleagueredAssistant: To Tsubaki. He's always stuck having to handle all of his moods, pranks, and bad ideas.
* BerserkButton: '''Lies.'''
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: With Mahiru at the beginning, with him telling scary rumors and then asking how much was a lie and Mahiru hitting him in return.
* BondingOverMissingParents: With Mahiru - at least, that's what he made him believe.
* BrutalHonesty: Towards Tsubaki, who is overly sensitive to this and usually ends up [[CornerOfWoe sulking]].
* ButtMonkey: Constantly on the receiving end of Tsubaki's pranks, to the point where even Berukia thinks Tsubaki should apologize.
* CassandraTruth: While the others (including Mahiru at the start) think he's just making stuff up, his warnings about the vampires are very real. Since he's one himself, he definitely knows what he's talking about and doesn't take it well when Mahiru ignores all his warnings.
* CatchPhrase: After telling a scary story, "How much of that was a lie?" or a variation of it. He drops it completely when he drops his persona as Mahiru's classmate and childhood friend.
* ChainsawGood: In his fight against Misono in the elevator.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Mahiru. Or so it seems. In fact, he's only known Mahiru for a year, but he used FakeMemories to make him think they were childhood friends.
* ConflictingLoyalty: Between Mahiru and Tsubaki.
* CryingWolf: People don't take his warnings of the vampires seriously because he's known as a joker.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Very, ''very'' dark. When he was little, his older sister was DrivenToSuicide by their parents, who said it was an accident so they could get the life insurance money. Sakuya was forced to lie for them. When he was in his teens, the same thing that had happened to his sister happened to him, even though she had made their parents promise not to hurt him. The only one who stayed with him and kept his promise to help him was Tsubaki, who made him a vampire.
* DeadpanSnarker: Has shades of this around Tsubaki, to the latter's distress.
* DrivenToSuicide: By his parents, to get the life insurance money.
* FakeMemories: He inflicted them on Mahiru to make him think they were {{childhood friends}}.
* TheGhost: In one Spring drama CD track, Tsubaki and Mahiru keep looking for him but he's nowhere to be found.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Whatever it is that the others are up to, they think it's better not to tell him.
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: He doesn't seem to agree with Tsubaki's plans, but he sticks with him anyway, does what he asks of him and refuses to leave his side, knowing that he owes everything to him.
* NightmareFace: He does these on purpose when talking about vampire rumors.
* NonUniformUniform: Instead of the usual white shirt and tie, he wears his trademark black-and-white striped shirt with his school uniform.
* OnlySaneMan: Compared to the other members of the Melancholy Team, he seems to be the most sane. Usually.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Actually they should have been a giveaway to the fact that he is a vampire.
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Tsubaki's red.
* SarcasticDevotee: To Tsubaki - he's often mad at him and isn't above giving him a regular dose of BrutalHonesty, but he's so loyal to him he even sacrificed his friendship with Mahiru for his sake.
* StepfordSmiler: While he pretended to be a happy-go-lucky joker around his friends from school, he's actually quite serious and has to carry the burden of a DarkAndTroubledPast, ConflictingLoyalty and a HorrorHunger for blood. His real self, as shown around Tsubaki and the others, rarely makes jokes and seems either sad or mildly annoyed with his teammates, often sitting apart from the others.
* TakingTheBullet: A non-lethal example in the anime. He jumps in front of Mahiru to protect him from a blade Tsubaki launched at him and severely injures himself, to Tsubaki's [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone horror]]. He gets better thanks to Tsubaki's healing powers.
* TokenGoodTeammate: To Tsubaki's group, of sorts. While he'll stick to them because of his UndyingLoyalty to Tsubaki, he doesn't seem to agree with the latter's plans and even hopes that Mahiru will be able to stop them.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Tsubaki. This becomes a problem...
* WalkingSpoiler: It's ''very'' hard to talk about his role in the story without giving away that he's a vampire and Tsubaki's subclass.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: With Mahiru. He ended their friendship after discovering that they're fighting on different sides of the war.
* WildCard: While he's sticking with Tsubaki for the moment, he doesn't seem too happy with it and might change allegiances or even the course of the war if something pushed him in that direction - if he found out what the others' secret goal is, for instance.
* {{Yandere}}: WordOfGod[[invoked]] called him one in an interview.

[[folder: Berukia]]
[[quoteright:189:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/berukia_icon.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YoshitsuguMatsuoka (Japanese), Creator/MikeMcFarland (English)

The first member of Tsubaki's team that Mahiru and Kuro run into, Berukia is a ''very'' hammy, over-the-top vampire. Most of the time he acts like either a stage magician or the host of a game show on TV.
-----
* AgentPeacock: Very vain, wears pink, has long hair, and is a capable fighter.
* AttentionWhore: He does ''not'' take it well when people ignore him.
* ComicalOverreacting: So much that it's become his default state.
* DisappearingBox: Uses one on [[spoiler:Hugh]], sending him over to [[spoiler:Tsubaki so the latter can defeat him]].
* DontTryThisAtHome: Says so in the second drama CD, referring to putting stones in snowballs during a snowball fight.
* GagHaircut: The star-shaped pigtails he wears for some time after Lily cuts off his hair.
* HairReboot: His hair grows back to its old length very quickly. Justified, as he also develops the ability to make cut off limbs grow back.
* HealingFactor: Develops this later in the series, gaining the ability to make lost limbs grow back. [[spoiler:It still has its limits though, as shown when he and Tsubaki's other subclass get trashed by Mahiru and Kuro.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Tsubaki.
* HotBlooded: One of the most hot-blooded characters in the entire cast, hands down.
* {{Keet}}: A darker variety than most, but still very energetic and the most cheerful one out of Tsubaki's team.
* LargeHam: The hammiest character in the entire series, and so over-the-top it would put [[Manga/OuranHighSchoolHostClub Tamaki]] to shame. Even his speech bubbles get in on the hamminess and are decorated with little stars, which also seem to be flying around him for no reason.
* MotorMouth: Comes with his energetic attitude. That guy talks ''fast''.
* TheNicknamer: Responsible for nicknames like Tsubakyun for Tsubaki and Girioto for Otogiri.
* NoIndoorVoice: He shouts quite a lot.
* OnlySaneMan: Oddly enough, he becomes the voice of reason when caught up in Tsubaki and Sakuya's shenanigans.
* PaintingTheMedium: His speech bubbles are decorated with small colorful stars to match his sparkly, over-the-top attitude.
* PullARabbitOutOfMyHat: A variation; he always pulls his ''swords'' out of his top hat.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to everyone's blue, really.
* SleepModeSize: He temporarily shrinks down into a doll after being defeated by Kuro.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: A minor example. The German translation called him Belukia, but everyone else (including the [[WordOfGod character CD and some official art]]) agrees on Berukia. People who don't know the official spellings still do keep misspelling him in various ways though, including but not limited to Berkia, Belkia (the Funimation spelling), etc.
* StageMagician: He is one, and just like a typical stage magician he has quite a few tricks up his sleeve, although most of them use [[MagiciansAreWizards real magic]].
* StarterVillain: The first member of Tsubaki's crew that Mahiru and Kuro come across and defeat, as well as the one who lets them know of Tsubaki's existence in the first place.
* TraumaticHaircut: PlayedForLaughs. Lily cuts his hair short at one point, which leads to him walking around with a pair of short star-shaped pigtails for some time (instead of the usual ponytail). It later grows back to its usual length.

[[quoteright:185:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/otogiri_icon.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AtsumiTanezaki

The only female member of Tsubaki's team. Not much is known about her, but she is quiet and calm, as well as a capable fighter. She fights using puppets and she can even turn people into puppets or tie them up with her strings.
-----

* ActionGirl: Even though she prefers operating from the shadows, she can dodge bullets and defend herself just fine when the situation requires it.
* EmotionlessGirl: Her expression never changes - she rarely ever shows a trace of emotion.
* FunbagAirbag: Mahiru crashes headfirst into her breasts when thrown onto the roof of Misono's house by Tetsu. [[TheStoic She goes on like nothing happened.]]
* MarionetteMaster: Her fighting style revolves around this, using life-size dolls that she controls with her puppeteer strings to fight.
* MsFanservice: Her curves are noted by the other characters, and the creators like to put her into ''all'' the pretty outfits they can find.
* MundaneUtility: In an omake, she uses her puppeteer strings to manipulate a vote over what they're getting for lunch in her favor. Tsubaki doesn't realize this and sulks because he thinks the others like her more than him.
* NinjaMaid: When she sneaks into [[spoiler:the Alicein household as a maid to assassinate Lily.]]
* PeoplePuppets: Part of her fighting style, although she doesn't seem to be able to use it on enemies. She can even let a defeated Berukia speak when controlling him with her puppeteer threads, although she admits that emulating his speech pattern is hard.
* TheQuietOne: The most quiet one out of the group, and the one who talks least.
* TheStoic: Out of all the stoic characters, she's the most expressionless and calm.

Tsubaki's loyal servant who acts as his butler and always calls him "Young Master." Little is known about him, except that according to Mahiru, he might be a foreigner.
-----

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: One of the reasons he killed Shuuhei's father is because [[spoiler:of how Shuuhei's father was much more loved by the people around him and is eventually [[GreenEyedMonster blinded by hatred and envy]] at him]].
* ADayInTheLimelight: The C3 arc shows his past [[spoiler:that he is formerly a member of the C3 before nearly dying in a mission before Tsubaki saved him]].
* BadassInANiceSuit: He always wears a white suit, to this effect.
* BattleButler: To Tsubaki, complete with calling him "Young Master."
* EyepatchOfPower: Wears one over his right eye.
* FanOfUnderdog: A huge fan of Tsubaki, whose existence was virtually unknown until he declared war on the other Servamps.
* FloweryElizabethanEnglish: His way of speaking in the English translation.
* IOweYouMyLife" Part of his loyalty to Tsubaki is because [[spoiler:Tsubaki saved him in the past]].
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: Quite the Tsubaki fanboy.
* YesMan: To Tsubaki, and he means every word of it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Higan]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KeijiFujiwara

Tsubaki's strongest subclass and essentially the ace up his sleeve when it comes to fighting. He calls himself an artist and occasionally speaks in haiku form.
-----

* TheAce: He's second in strength only to Tsubaki.
* BloodKnight: Licht effectively calls him one, saying that he only fights because he loves causing harm and destruction.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Red hair and red eyes.
* TheDitz: Outside of fighting he has a bumbling, forgetful personality. He even forgets his phone when [[spoiler:kidnapping Licht]], something the others make use of.
* EvilRedhead: Fighting for Tsubaki, dangerous, sadistic, and has fiery red hair.
* FlowerMotifs: Spider lilies, matching his name.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: He warns Tsubaki into retreating as soon as Tsurugi shows up.
* MadArtist: Very much. He's constantly calling himself an artist, but the "works of art" he creates are usually brutal and created by hurting people.
* PermaStubble: He has it, but it's not made to underline how badass he is - if anything, it indicates that he doesn't always feel like shaving or may even forget about it.
* SmokingIsNotCool: He smokes and often uses his cigarettes to hurt people in fights.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Instead of using some variant of "I," he refers to himself as "this old man."
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Lilac]]

One of Tsubaki's many weaker subclass, but extremely loyal to him and willing to do almost anything for his sake. He's shy and not very brave but trying his hardest.
-----

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The reason why he forms an attachment to [[spoiler:Mahiru]].
* ConflictingLoyalty: He's still unwaveringly loyal to Tsubaki but [[spoiler:grows attached to Mahiru and is unwilling to hurt him. He resolves his inner conflict by asking Mahiru to kill him before he can return Hyde's name tag to Tsubaki, sealing his fate.]]
* DubNameChange: A minor example. The German translation dropped the C and called him Lila.
* ShrinkingViolet: He's quite meek and shy, although it's not clear how much of that was caused by his recent trauma.
* SoleSurvivor: [[spoiler:He's the only subclass who survived the infiltration of Licht's concert; everyone else was killed by Lawless.]]
* SurvivorGuilt: He feels this after [[spoiler:watching all his friends get killed by Lawless while he survives by hiding.]]

!C3:

[[folder: Tsuyuki Shuuhei]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KaitoIshikawa (Japanese), Creator/AustinTindle (English)

The first member of C3 to be introduced as one, as well as the first one to approach Mahiru and [[spoiler:the one trying to convince him to cooperate with them when they hold him and Kuro captive]]. He has very, very bad luck but is prepared for any mishap that may happen to him, no matter how unlikely.
-----

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Averted; while he's higher in rank than Tsurugi and his companions, he's not really a strong fighter. His position is probably of an administrative nature.
* BornUnlucky: His bad luck is almost legendary.
* BrainyBrunette: He has reddish brown hair and seems smart enough, aside from his awful luck.
* ButtMonkey: The biggest one in the series. He seems to actively attract bad luck, a fact that he is all too aware of.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Tinker.
* CrashIntoHello: His first meeting with Mahiru in the anime; they crash into each other at the school festival, and Shuuhei somehow manages to land on a pillow he produced from {{Hammerspace}}.
* CrazyPrepared: As a result of being aware of his ButtMonkey status. His ability to predict anything that happens to him is almost psychic.
* EarlyBirdCameo: In the anime he gets a brief appearance before his proper introduction, crashing into Mahiru as the latter is chasing after Sakuya at the school festival. His face is hidden by his [[ScaryShinyGlasses glasses]] though.
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: He used to be Mikuni's underclassman in high school, and Mikuni used to get on his last nerve (and still does, even after graduating).
* FantasticRacism: He hates vampires and thinks they should all be killed...
* FreudianExcuse: ...because they killed his father, who was also a member of C3.
* {{Hammerspace}}: Where he keeps all the equipment necessary to be prepared for all his accidents.
* KnightTemplar: He thinks all vampires would be better off dead and honestly tries to pursue that goal, even though it technically clashes with C3's agenda.
* NotSoStoic: When Mikuni meets Mahiru at the C3 base, he shows his anger openly for the first time, telling Mahiru how much he hates Mikuni, the trio around Tsurugi, and pretty much all the other members of C3. To say nothing of vampires.
* OlderThanTheyLook: He's in his early twenties but easily able to pass as a high school student.
* OnlySaneMan: Appears to be one for C3.
* StoicSpectacles: He wears glasses and is very stoic, probably as a way to cope with his bad luck.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: He resembles his father so much he ended up dyeing his hair because of the comparisons.
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler:One of Tsubaki's subclass killed his father, and when they're captured, he wants to kill that person as revenge. Said Subclass is later revealed to be Shamrock, who is a former C3 member]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Kamiya Tsurugi]]
[[quoteright:175:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tsurugi_icon.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HiroshiKamiya

The strongest fighter at C3, Tsurugi has quite the reputation among vampires for being a reckless and nigh-unbeatable vampire hunter. He's also fairly silly and easygoing and can be bought very easily. He and Mikuni used to be partners, but now they hate each other.
-----

* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler: When Touma first found him, all his teeth were broken and he couldn't even drink from a baby bottle due to his biological father abusing him]].
* TheAce: Of C3. He's simply the strongest among the strongest of C3's fighters.
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: He and his two friends first appear in episode 5, adapting material from volume 3, while they originally weren't introduced until volume 8 of the manga.
* AdaptationalHeroism: In the anime, Tsurugi goes after Kuro but only comes after him with kicks and doesn’t,t appear to land a proper hit. In the manga, he fights Tsubaki and appears far more excited by the violence and even draws a sword against him.
* AfraidOfTheirOwnStrength: It took Tsurugi a long time before he finally held Takuto. When Jun and Yumi forced him to, he started screaming, terrified that he'd kill the boy.
* AstralProjection: A weird example. After Tsurugi is incapacitated and [[spoiler:Touma is about to shoot Mahiru, his spirit somehow detaches from his body and shields Mahiru, saving him. However, Tsurugi's spirit appears as a small child that turns back into himself at random intervals while remaining oblivious to pretty much everything]]. Also, his body is still [[spoiler:able to move and function on it's own, though Touma uses him as a literal puppet while his mind doesn't work. Eventually he snaps out of it and prevents Yumikage's death]].
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Friendly, cheerful, goofy... and very much capable of killing vampires without remorse.
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Mikuni. Everyone comments that their personalities are awfully similar and accuse Tsurugi of having a bad influence on Mikuni.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: According to Mikuni and Shuuhei, he acts nice but he's actually a terrible person.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The Brunette to Yumikage's Blonde and Junichirou's Redhead.
* BrokenAce: [[spoiler: He was raised by the C3 as a baby and was subjected to experiments and had no family to call that he sees his friends family as part of his own. And his obedience to Touma due to the torment he was subjected to also drove him rather unhinged that he doesn't really have much of a will to do something he wished to do. This became one of the reasons why The Mother offered herself to be his servamp.]]
* CheshireCatGrin: His smile often lapses into this.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Yumi and Jun. They've known each other since elementary school.
* CoolDownHug: Mahiru gives him one.
* CoolSword: Tsurugi, as his name would imply, fights with a sword when he needs to use weapons. He summons it from either the belts on his cape or his choker.
* CompanionCube: Played with. He treats Abel like a human, but apparently only does so to [[{{Troll}} mess with Mikuni]].
* ContainmentClothing: He wears a cape with a belt that functions almost like a straight jacket. He needs special authorization to remove the belts and summon his sword.
* CoveredInScars: Tsurugi looks fairly normal and even scores a nine out of ten in terms of appearance. However, when he takes off his shirt, it is revealed his body is littered in scars. He says they were from 'mistakes'. The reason they don't cover his face or hands is because Touma told him not to get any someone could see.
* DissonantSerenity: He's seen smiling from ear to ear after killing a number of defenseless subclass in cold blood.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: As a baby he was badly abused by his father. Touma appeared to be fairly abusive as well, using him for experiments [[spoiler:with the intention of making him the ninth servamp]] and brainwashing him. As if it couldn't get worse [[spoiler:during a mission with Yoshimasa, Shamrock and Higan attacked and subdued both of them. Yoshimasa was impaled while stopping Tsurugi from sacrificing himself for him. As Tsurugi attempted to launch a counterattack, he was intercepted by Higan who grabbed him with his flames and hung Tsurugi upside down while he watched Shamrock brutally murder Yoshimasa]].
* DoesntKnowTheirOwnBirthday: While Tsurugi celebrates his birthday on August thirty-first, that was actually the day Touma brought him home. He has no idea when he was actually born.
* TheDreaded: His name is known among subclass all over Japan. Even Higan, Tsubaki's strongest subclass, is afraid of him.
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: During a TroubledBackstoryFlashBack, we get to see his eyes like this when he was a ''baby''.
* {{Expy}}: He gets compared to [[Literature/{{Durarara}} Izaya]] a lot, and he even shares a last name with Izaya's voice actor, Creator/HiroshiKamiya.
* TheFakeCutie: He acts friendly and cheerful and calls himself the cute one out of the trio, but he also kills vampires without remorse and actually seems to ''enjoy'' taking their lives, even when he doesn't have to.
* FountainOfYouth: Tsurugi [[spoiler:is shown as a small child who occasionally reverts to his adult self while his spirit is inside Mahiru and Touma's minds]].
* TheGadfly: He enjoys trolling Jun and Yumi, since they're friends, he's just joking around. However, it's a lot more antagonistic with Mikuni.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Chapter 101 reveals that [[spoiler:Tsurugi is half Werewolf, and half human with magician blood in his veins, making him potentially a long distant relative to Gear]].
* HappilyAdopted: Deconstructed. [[spoiler:Even though he lived a happy and peaceful life under the Tsuyuki's care, Tsurugi felt that it isn't really much of a family]].
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:After Touma used his body as a puppet to attack Yumikage, Tsurugi eventually snaps out of it and finally rebels and blocks Touma from dealing the final blow. He summons a sword and uses it to cut off his uniform and attacks Touma]].
* HiredGuns: Pretty much. Although he's been with C3 for all his life, he doesn't really feel loyal to the organization and only does what people ask of him if he gets paid for it.
* InelegantBlubbering: He does this for Touma.
* KillTheOnesYouLove: During the C3 collapse [[spoiler:Touma forces Tsurugi to kill Jun, Yumikage and Mahiru, both through brainwashing and literal puppetry. Luckily, this is all subverted as everyone survives]].
* LeanAndMean: Outstandingly thin, even within [[CastFullOfPrettyBoys the cast]], and of... questionable morality.
* LighterAndSofter: Due to a lack of screen time in the anime, we learn very little about Tsurugi as a character. He's only portrayed as a money-loving vampire hunter and the extent of his interactions is making fun of his friends. In the manga, we discover he is a deeply twisted individual who was abused and experimented on as a child. Oh, he also [[spoiler:is told to kill his friends and almost succeeds]].
* MercyKill: [[spoiler:what he wants Yumikage to do to him should Touma ever succeed in making him a servamp]].
* MindControlDevice: The black bands around Tsurugi's neck and wrists allow Touma to occasionally control his body.
* MistakenAge: Played with. Tsurugi is twenty-six, and he does not appear to be any other age. The only person who messes up how old he is is ''Tsurugi himself''. This is due to his over-usage of magic causing insanity. It gradually worsens from at first being unable to tell if he is twenty-three or seventeen to thinking he is thirteen.
* NeverHadABirthdayParty: Played with. Tsurugi ''has'' had birthday parties, he just didn't appear to have celebrated any until he was around six or seven since he was abused.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: Played with all over the place with his two teammates. At first he appears to be the nice one, but he's actually in-between - not openly hostile like Yumikage, but definitely [[PsychopathicManchild not]] [[TheFakeCutie nice]] [[BitchInSheepsClothing either]].
* TheNicknamer: Calls his two best friends "Jun-chan" and "Yumi-chan" and refers to Mikuni as "Kuni-chan."
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: You can bribe him to do pretty much anything as long as you offer him enough money. He claims that he'd even lick people's shoes for a sufficiently large sum.
* ParentalSubstitute: Like another dad to Jun's son.
* PerpetualSmiler: He's almost never not smiling, even if some smiles are rather malicious or forced (especially when fighting with Mikuni).
* PeoplePuppets: Touma uses him as one on top of the brainwashing.
* PhysicalScarsPsychologicalScars: Tsurugi's body is a mess of discolored skin and scar tissue. His personality also became horribly warped from Touma's abuse, as he was initially a shy and quiet kid while currently he can go from childish and cheerful to a psychotic killer on a dime.
* PowerLimiter: Tsurugi needs to be authorized to remove his belts, which both restrain his arms and can turn into a sword for him to fight with.
* PsychopathicManchild:
** Borders on this. He seems friendly, cheerful and easygoing, but he kills vampires without batting an eye or the necessity to kill - he probably takes pleasure in hunting them down.
** Expanded a ''lot'' in the manga. He plays with his paperwork, makes a mess of his dinner and writes his reports in hiragana. Even his spirit is a literal child!
* SayItWithHearts: When talking to Mikuni. You can practically see the poison oozing from his words.
* SitcomArchNemesis: He and Mikuni often act this way around each other.
* SlasherSmile: Let's just say vampires have a good reason to be afraid.
* SpeakInUnison: With Mikuni, to the point of a RunningGag. [[SitcomArchNemesis They're not amused.]]
* SpiritAdvisor: Played with. His spirit converses with Mahiru in his mind, however Mahiru is the one that gives him advice. Later on, in Touma's mind, Tsurugi's spirit holds a light for Mahiru so he can see while he's climbing and then gives him the key to Touma's room.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: The Wise Guy to Yumikage's and Junichirou's Straight Man.
* SuddenlySober: He sobers up in an instant when he and his friends get called on a mission after going out drinking.
* SuicideMission: He's C3's suicide captain. Touma also [[spoiler:sends him out to fight despite pretty much everyone saying Tsurugi is at his limit]].
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: His eyes are yellow, to this effect.
* TakeMeInstead: When he was fifteen, he [[spoiler:was on a mission with Yoshimasa when Shamrock and Higan caught them. Shamrock mistook Tsurugi for Shuuhei and Tsurugi tried to go along with it in order to be killed instead of Yoshimasa. Too bad Yoshimasa wouldn't let him]].
* TaremeEyes: He has this. He even had cute, puppy-dog eyes as a kid.
* TermsOfEndangerment: He calls Mikuni "Kuni-chan", to the latter's annoyance.
* TraumaButton: The sound of an alarm has this effect. After one went off by accident at C3, he suddenly went into a panic and saw faceless people surrounding him and wounds began forming on his body.
* {{Troll}}: To the point where even Mikuni (who is quite the troll himself) can't stand him and calls him a horrible person.
* TrueCompanions: With Junichirou and Yumikage. They're pretty much inseparable.
* TykeBomb: [[spoiler: Touma makes him one with the intention of making him the ninth Servamp]].
* UndyingLoyalty: [[spoiler: To Touma. Touma saved him from an abusive household as a baby and because of that, he listens to anything Touma says]].
* VitriolicBestBuds: He and Yumikage are constantly bickering and teasing each other.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: With Mikuni - they used to be partners at C3. Now they don't get along.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: He can kill vampires without batting an eye and even seems to enjoy it. They're nothing but prey to him.

-----

* ActionDad: The single father of a three-year-old son and also one hell of a badass.
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: He, Tsurugi and Yumi don't appear until volume 8 of the manga but show up in episode 5 of the anime, adapting an arc from volume 3.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The Redhead to Yumikage's Blonde and Tsurugi's Brunette.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Tsurugi and Yumikage.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: He keeps an eye on his two more immature friends and acts as the designated driver when they get drunk.
* NiceGuy: The most down-to-earth and easy to get along with out of C3.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: Appears to be the in-between one at first, but is actually the nicest one out of the trio.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: The Straight Man to Tsurugi's and sometimes also Yumikage's Wise Guy.
* TeamDad: Acts like one to his friends, keeping an eye on them whenever they start acting silly.

Nicknamed "Yumi," Yumikage is the second strongest member of C3 after Tsurugi and his and Jun's teammate. He's short-tempered and grumpy most of the time, but he does care about his friends a lot.
-----

* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: He and his two companions first appear in episode 5 (the equivalent of volume 3 in the manga) even though the manga only introduced them in volume 8.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The Blonde to Tsurugi's Brunette and Jun's Redhead.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: He gets even more drunk than Tsurugi after they go drinking at a fancy restaurant. He also becomes unusually giggly and happy.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Tsurugi and Jun.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: Not to the same extent as Jun, but he's still the Tsurugi handler and often yells at him for all his shenanigans.
* HairTriggerTemper: He's in a state of almost perpetual annoyance at Tsurugi's antics.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He acts grumpy and annoyed all the time, but he really does care for his two friends.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: Appears to be the mean one, but he's just [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold acting]] [[{{Tsundere}} grumpy]].
* NotSoAboveItAll: Usually he's in a state of constant annoyance, but he gets just as goofy as Tsurugi when he gets drunk and he's definitely not above making silly jokes with his friends.
* NumberTwo: To Tsurugi, in terms of strength.
* ParentalSubstitute: To Jun's son, he's like another father.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: The Straight Man to Tsurugi's Wise Guy. [[NotSoAboveItAll Most of the time, anyway.]]
* TrueCompanions: With Tsurugi and Junichirou; they stick together no matter what.
* {{Tsundere}}: A minor example. He gets annoyed when Tsurugi tells Jun that he gets lonely if the latter isn't there.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Tsurugi. The overwhelming majority of their dialogue consists of them bickering - unless they're drunk.

[[folder: Taishi Touma]]
The vice manager of C3's Tokyo branch.
----
* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler:Had verbally abusive parents in the past]].
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: [[spoiler:He was Uncle Tooru's high school classmate.]]
* LukeIAmYourFather: [[spoiler:Turns out to be Mahiru's DisappearedDad who had no idea he had a child at all.]]
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: [[spoiler: He was classmates with Mahiru's uncle during high school]].
* ParentalSubstitute: A rather twisted one to [[spoiler:Tsurugi]]. Having rescued him from an abusive household. [[spoiler:Then plans to make Tsurugi a Servamp]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Uncle Tooru]]

Mahiru's uncle and the one who took him in after his mother's death. He's often away because of work, but Mahiru looks up to him a lot and aspires to become an adult like him one day.
-----

* CoolUncle: To Mahiru.
* GoodParents: Mahiru admires him and sees him as a role model, and he shares some very good advice with his nephew. He also acknowledges that there's something that's bothering Mahiru but he can't explain and doesn't pressure him to say anything.
* ParentalSubstitute: He raised Mahiru after his mother died.
* PungeonMaster: He makes lots of lame puns. Tsubaki is the only one who ([[MoodSwinger temporarily]]) finds them funny.
* TheReveal: [[spoiler:He is working for C3]].
* SharedFamilyQuirks: His reaction to first seeing Kuro inside the house is identical to Mahiru's. They also share their love for simple things.
* WackyParentSeriousChild: Zig-zagged. While he seems more wacky and silly than his nephew, the latter admires him a lot, and he's also the one who made Mahiru the person he is today.

* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Most people who know him call him as Gear, instead of his full name.
* WhoWantsToLiveForever: On the receiving end of it because he lived longer as a werewolf. Gear tells Kuro that boredom is the greatest enemy to being long-lived and it's why he embraces technology, to a point of having a hobby of collecting and buying Roomba's.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Youtarou Tsumugi]]
A young human boy who is friends with Gear at the present.
----

* RaisedByGrandparents: Outside of Gear, his grandmother is the only other family that he has ever known growing up.
* RealMenWearPink: He sews and finds it enjoyable. It's also a TragicKeepsake of a hobby as a reminder of his own grandmother who raised him.
* TragicKeepsake: His hobby of sewing is a leftover reminder of what his grandmother taught him before passing away.

-----

* CoolOldGuy: Well... 'old' is [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld relative]] here, but he certainly looks the part; judging by his face, he must have been at least in his forties when he became a vampire.
* TheFaceless: He's only shown in full-body costumes for a long time, hiding his face. His face isn't revealed until volume 8.
* OldRetainer: Plays that part to Lawless; while he's certainly not older than the Servamp, he's been taking care of him for ages and also looks older.
* TeamDad: To Licht, Lawless and the entire crew. He's more stern and grumpy than Crantz and responsible for separating the Servamp and Eve whenever they fight.
* ThemeNaming: With Crantz.
* VocalDissonance: Tsubaki is quite shocked to hear his deep voice coming from the silly whale costume he wears as Licht's mascot.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Ophelia]]

A princess and one of Lawless's former Eves who lived several centuries ago. 1074* AltarDiplomacy: Married a foreign prince as a part of peace negotiations.

* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Sacrificed her life to save countless others by keeping a war from starting.]]

* TheOneThatGotAway: [[spoiler:She got married and died before Lawless had a chance to act on his feelings for her.]]

* {{Ruritania}}: She was the princess of a small unspecified fictional country somewhere in Europe.
* UniversallyBelovedLeader: She was kind to everyone, down-to-earth and put the needs to her people before her own. No wonder so many people loved her.
* WalkingSpoiler: Her story is a crucial part of Lawless's backstory, so talking about her will inevitably spoil quite a lot about him.

[[folder: Ryuusei and Koyuki]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Genki Okawa (Ryuusei), Creator/KotaroNishiyama (Koyuki)

Mahiru's friends since elementary school at the very least. Koyuki is friendly and a bit of a worry-wart while Ryuusei is rather brash and a little hot-tempered. They remain happily oblivious to their friend's involvement in the war of the Servamps.
-----

* CassandraTruth: They don't believe a word when Mahiru tells them his new cat can transform into a vampire.
* ChildhoodFriends: With each other and also with Mahiru, having known each other since elementary school or even longer.
* FakeMemories: Lily made them believe that Ryuusei's injury was caused by an accident when he actually got it from Berukia.
* GentleGiant: Koyuki. He's visibly taller than his friends and the most sensitive and caring.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: They're almost never seen apart from each other.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Neither of them remembers Berukia's attack on Ryuusei or Mahiru telling them his new cat is a vampire thanks to Lily manipulating their memories.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: They have no idea that Mahiru has formed a contract with a vampire and is stuck neck-deep in a war of the Servamps. [[spoiler:They don't know Sakuya is a vampire either.]]
* OutOfFocus: They barely get any screentime once summer break starts, although they were never members of the main cast in the first place.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Koyuki is the Sensitive Guy to Ryuusei's Manly Man.
* SocialCircleFiller: They're introduced as Mahiru's friends since elementary school, but they pretty much disappear from the plot once things start getting serious, mostly because Mahiru doesn't want to drag them into the war of the vampires and put them in danger.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Those two friends of Mahiru's who never got pulled into the vampire business, but who are occasionally shown commenting on all the weirdness going on around Tokyo lately.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Alicein Mikado]]

Misono and Mikuni's father and current head of the Alicein family, Mikado is rarely at home because of work. [[spoiler:He's hiding the fact that Misono and Mikuni are half-brothers from his younger son for fear of making him feel guilty about the catastrophe his birth caused.]]

* MeaningfulName: "Mikado" means "Emperor," which is alluded to when the house staff and subclass refer to him as the Alicein mansion's emperor.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:When he realizes that his infidelity got both Misono and Mikuni's mothers killed and drove Mikuni from the family estate.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Yuri and Mari]]

Two of Lily's subclass kids living at Misono's, Julie and Marie are twins, as well as the ones to pick up Mahiru to first meet Misono. They work as messengers several more times, often of their own accord.
-----

* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: If it wasn't for their different hairstyles they'd look perfectly identical.
* CreepyTwins: At the beginning, suddenly popping up at Mahiru's school, talking in sync and telling him to leave with them. Later on, not so much.
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: Pretty much the only way to tell them apart is by their hairstyles.
* RoseHairedSweetie: Pink-haired and pretty nice; they are shown to care for Misono a lot.
* SpeakInUnison: They do this a lot at the beginning, but they seem to drop the habit in later volumes.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Julie and Marie? Yuri and Mari? Or... one of the approximately five thousand other spellings?
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Usami Mitsuki]]

Mikado's secretary, a young woman in her twenties. She was rescued by Lily as a kid and was one of the children who didn't have to be turned into subclass and grow up normally.
-----

* ActionGirl: She sure knows how to fight using her [[TheGunslinger gun]].
* ACupAngst: She gets mad when Dodo teases her about her flat chest or looks at pictures of more well-endowed women.
* BadassNormal: She doesn't have any supernatural powers, yet she manages to hold her own against Otogiri in a fight. (Otogiri gets away, but still.)
* BattleButler: Fills this role when necessary, such as when [[spoiler:Otogiri attacks the Alicein household]].
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Dodo, in spades.
* BerserkButton: Let's just say that it's better not to mention breasts at all when she's around.
* GirlFriday: To Mikado; she keeps everything organized and assists him in his job, but she can fight just fine when the situation requires it.
* {{Tsundere}}: Towards Dodo. She's very prone to snapping at him or slapping him, but it's clear that she does care about him.
[[/folder]]

-----

* AccidentalMisnaming: He can't remember Mahiru's name and keeps calling him different names until writing his name on his forehead.
* AffectionateNickname: Calls Mikuni "Miku-Miku."
* AmbiguouslyEvil: There's no telling whose side he's on or what he's up to, aside from the fact that he wants to know more about the vampires, especially the Servamps.
* LabcoatOfScienceAndMedicine: He wears an unbuttoned one over his normal outfit.
* MadScientist: Very much. He goes completely nuts with joy when given the opportunity to inspect Kuro, and he's first seen turning the head of one of Mikuni's dolls into a drink.
* MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate: He has one, and he's completely obsessed with his vampire research, as well as [[MadScientist totally nuts]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder: "Sensei"]]

The mysterious creator of the Servamps. Their identity remains unknown until Chapter 100, where it's revealed that their identity is [[spoiler:Count Saint Germain]].
-----

* AmbiguousGender: It's just as mysterious as the entire rest of their identity.
* TheAgeless: Hinted at. Despite (apparently) being human, they had lived for many centuries before finally [[spoiler:meeting their end at Kuro's hands]].
* HeWhoMustNotBeSeen: They have been mentioned and alluded to, but they've never appeared on screen themselves (yet, anyway).
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler:They were killed by Kuro of all people - the first of their own creations... until it's revealed that they are actually still alive to a degree]].
* MadScientist: Apparently, from what can be gathered by other people's mentions of them. They're sometimes referred to as "that genius" and described as "sentimental."
* TheManBehindTheMan: [[spoiler:It's hinted that Tsubaki's agenda was originally Sensei's, and Tsubaki is simply carrying on their will and doing what they wanted of him, [[HiddenAgendaVillain whatever that may be.]]]]
* NoNameGiven: They're only ever alluded to as "Sensei" (by Tsubaki) or "that genius." [[spoiler:Until chapter 100, where he is explicitly named]].
* PosthumousCharacter: [[spoiler:Was killed by Kuro, something he has regretted ever since.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: While their existence alone isn't a spoiler in itself, pretty much everything else about them is.
