! General

* AdaptationalCurves: Henry and Ryo are both more muscular in appearance, and Jeri and Ruki are more shapely in some areas, specifically Jeri's larger breasts and Ruki's prominent ass. {{Justified}} in that everyone in the main cast is no younger than 16 years old, with the exception of the characters from the original who were all meant to be younger than 10 years old, but they're either DemotedToExtra or AdaptedOut.
* AdaptedOut: Ai and Mako, the original tamers of Impmon in ''Digimon Tamers'', do not appear, and neither does Leomon, who was the original partner of Jeri in ''Digimon Tamers''. Whereas Leomon being scrapped in favor of Impmon ties in directly to the WhatIf premise, Ai and Mako were adapted out because regardless of how much the AgeLift would be used on the characters, they're both far too young in the canon to realistically be adapted here as anything more than innocent civilians, considering literally every other character is High School aged or are adults, or in Grandis and Raiga's case a living TimeAbyss. Not only that, but the author pointed both case's out [[https://www.deviantart.com/mf217/journal/I-did-it-my-way-764057403 here]] that a huge dosage of worries would be in play if they were to be involved in any scene regarding [[TheSociopath Besiege]], who would have no issue killing them if needed because [[VileVillainSaccharineShow he's just that kind of heinous about who he's hired to kill.]]
* AllThereInTheManual: The evolution lines in their entirety for the main cast were revealed on December 16th, 2018, revealing that [[https://www.deviantart.com/mf217/art/Digimon-Re-Tamers-Lines-776921574 some of the evolution lines in particular]] are not exactly what you might think from the original canon cast of ''Digimon Tamers''. Notable examples being Leomon not having a tamer at all and acquiring the X-Antibody, Jeri being partnered with Impmon as the premise indicates, Kazu and Kenta's partner Digimon undergoing AdaptationalBadass, LoopholeAbuse being used as to give Sakuyamon and [=MegaGargomon=] access to their own Ultra Level equivalent forms, and Justimon being completely AdaptedOut and replaced with ''[[OlympusMons Millenniumon and ZeedMillenniumon]]''.
* FusionDance: Despite Sakuyamon and Gallantmon both being showcased to be this in regards to their canon selves, they are ''not'' utilizing Bio-Emerging to do this; that would've immediately been shot down by the fact they activating their Mega Level forms in the real world, and no Dobermon is present to have given them the ability to have already do it like in the canon. It's a case of WrongContextMagic as to how they still become Mega Level in this continuity as opposed to the canon, and unlike in the canon, Ryo is excluded from this as his Cyberdramon can easily become Millenniumon without him. Here, the Soul Link, a supernatural power that is the bane of Ultimorian entities and is noted to basically be ThePowerOfFriendship given physical form, is what allows for the primary trio of Henry, Ruki, and Takato to fuse with their own Digimon to have them become Mega Level. In spite of all of this, when the three Digimon in question are within the Digital World, no FusionDance occurs and their human partners remain separate entities as Rapidmon, Taomon, and [=WarGrowlmon=] Digivolve into their Mega Level forms all by themselves.
* HormoneAddledTeenager: Whereas ''Digimon Re: Adventure'' has an entire cast of mostly adults who simply have rather active sex lives, at the very least they can better control their hormones than the cast of ''Digimon Re: Tamers''. Takato with Jeri, alongside Ryo with Ruki, are the biggest offenders of teens who having a burning case of {{Lust}} but since they don't actively engage in a sexual lifestyle, they don't have the easy means of coping with it as the cast of ''Digimon Re: Adventure'' does. Kazu and Henry, meanwhile, are noticeably very cuddly with each other when they're alone together, but they're more affectionate in nature rather than sexual.
* InconsistentDub: While the cast lives in the US due to issues going on in Japan for years now, Ruki maintains her Japanese name, but Henry and Jeri for example use their dub names. [[spoiler:Although with Henry he has [[ShedTheFamilyName a different reason entirely]] for it.]]
* LanguageBarrier: The differences between the English Dub terminology and the Japanese terminology when both are spoken in English is rather difficult for some of the cast to realize there was even a difference at all, considering Takato and Jeri didn't know that the DubNameChange was even in effect at all, although Ruki and Ryo are more familiar with the changes made to the ''Digimon'' terminology.
* TheWorfEffect: [[spoiler:Ultra Necrozma causes virtually ''everyone'' in this cast to drop like flies one after the other.]]
* YourSizeMayVary: All of the Digimon in the canon were traditionally rather big as Champion, Ultimate Level or even Mega Level; here almost all of the evolved forms have shrunk as to allow them to fit into doors meant for humans, which reflects their sizes in the games at least in the over world portions. [=WarGrowlmon=], the biggest Ultimate of the canon trio, is the most noticeably shrunken in the cast. [=MegaGargomon=] being a borderline {{Kaiju}} in the original likewise gets shrunken ''even more so''.

!! Jeri Katou

* AdaptationalBadass
* AdaptedOut:
** Her Partner Digimon isn't Leomon this time; it's Impmon instead.
*** Her original partner from the anime is referenced a few times by other characters, mostly because they didn't expect Jeri to be the one to have a demon Digimon as her partner such as Impmon.
** Based off of what is seen in Chapter 1, her stepmother and stepbrother are also AdaptedOut.
* AmbiguousSituation: So far much of the first arc for now has focused on a majority of the main cast, except for Jeri as well as Takato. Takato's solo development has a tendency to be hinted at far more than Jeri's meanwhile. Whereas it's already hinted at where Takato's part in the story will lead, Jeri's got no such hints at all that are immediate to notice.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Gets distracted by a bunch of baby ferrets in a window in the pet stop next door to the cafe she's in during the second half of Chapter 6.
* AuthorAvatar: {{Downplayed}}, but her depiction of {{UsefulNotes/Autism}} is based off of how the author himself had behaved when he was Jeri's age, considering he also has Autism as well.
* {{UsefulNotes/Autism}}: How she's characterized, which itself is a bit of AscendedFanon.
* BreakTheCutie: She's introduced having a nightmare of her crush chloroforming her with a sadistic glee, after having tried to court him in her dream thinking it was the actual Takato.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: Jeri and Impmon both qualify when compared to the average Digimon series. Much of the time the main leads are male protagonists with a reptilian partner; Jeri is a female protagonist with a demonic Digimon as her partner, so any reptilian attributes are purely coincidental. Jeri, instead of being HotBlooded or even being similar to Canon!Takato, also has the distinction of being a ShrinkingViolet with a DarkAndTroubledPast as we've already known Canon!Jeri to be as well. Likewise, while Impmon is HotBlooded himself, his entire line lacks the fire motif with a few exceptions, and is an example of DarkIsNotEvil in terms of primary element as well as being Virus Attribute.
* CutenessProximity: Ferrets.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Implied with the prologue alone, but not outright stated as to ''what'' just yet. [[spoiler:Her father [[MythologyGag works in the mafia]], and often has a terrible ability to keep up with bills and afford things needed for Jeri's emotional and mental development due to her condition. As a result of this, money tends to be short very often in the household, and whenever money is used at all, rather than get groceries like a normal family, Jeri ends up getting a lot of fast food because it's either cheaper for her, or she ends up being treated out with what few friends she has because they're aware of Jeri's lifestyle at home to allow them to pay for her much of each given week.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: Is the Dark Tamer among the school's Digimon Tamers because of her possession of Impmon and his demonic evolution line, but is also TheHeroine of the story.
* DoggedNiceGuy: Is attracted to Takato and feels her attempts to court him are being deliberately ignored, or her attempts to be less subtle about it are held back by her nightmares she has of an impostor of Takato. Regardless, she still attempts to try to earn his affection and hoping he returns it.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Her daily routine of walking up at early hours of the morning, and the nightmare she has about Takato, as well as the description of her bedroom, proves to show that Jeri has a lot of mental and psychological issues.
* GenkiGirl: Why it becomes very hard for people to take Jeri's temporary TookALevelInJerkass behavior during her periods very seriously; she's too adorable in both appearance and normal behavior to where it seems like an extreme MoodDissonance when she behaves like a {{Jerkass}} towards people during her time of the month.
* GirlyGirl: To contrast with Ruki's {{Tomboy}}.
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: [[spoiler:Her PantyShot has an unusual bit with her wearing underwear, that when Takato sees them by accident, ''[[RefugeInAudacity seem to be deliberately designed to try and turn men on upon seeing them]]''. Takato doesn't point this out to Jeri directly, but he does wonder ''why'' Jeri would ever attempt to wear such a thing around him at all.]]
* HiddenBuxom: {{Downplayed}} in that it's evident from looking at Jeri in her normal clothing that she's obviously got AdaptationalCurves from her canon self, but when wearing swimwear, she goes from looking like a B-Cup bra size normally to looking more like between a C-Cup and D-Cup bra size.
* LeeroyJenkins: Beelines the numerous cars in Locomon's train as Impmon [[spoiler:with the Ultra Card]] blows up the cars directly left behind, one after the other. Considering Impmon can't digivolve, Jeri has to run from car to car avoiding the guards inside, as Impmon blows up the cars behind them as the guards from the previous car are disposed of by the car's detonation.
* LethalChef: One of the more noteworthy examples of this as a female character in the ''Citadel Of The Heart'' continuity, because unlike most examples of this, Jeri isn't even remotely very familiar with regular groceries and thus never truly developed an ability to learn how to cook because of both this and her fast food eating habits. She demonstrates her inept ability to cook when Takato is having her mix together wet ingredients for baking, but she ends up pouring too much milk than necessary, hastily tries to start over, and then ends up tripping on some of the spilt milk while sending Takato down to the floor with her.
* ModestyShorts: Begins to wear them after both the incident described below, and a rumor going around about a boy taking photographs in school of girl's underwear by looking up their skirts.
* MoodDissonance: Her periods have her becoming a {{Jerkass}} temporarily, but because of her GenkiGirl nature being intact despite that, it becomes kind of jarring to see her being both a GenkiGirl and a {{Jerkass}} at the same time all for the short span of a single day.
* MoralityPet: To Ruki.
* MsExposition: Something she's ''[[AvertedTrope incapable]]'' of being because of her Autism and her mental development, leading to Ruki doing this for her regarding who Jeri is.
* NoPeriodsPeriod: {{Averted}}; in fact, she becomes quite a bitch in a dorky fashion whenever the time of the month arrives for her.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:Chapter 10's last few minutes begin the first phases of this with her and Takato, but it's {{Subverted}} in that while the two did kiss, they still have a while to go before it truly sinks in for real.]]
* ParentalNeglect: 6 Chapters in, and her father is nowhere to be seen; her stepmother and her brother are AdaptedOut entirely, meaning the blame for the parental issues on Jeri has to with her [[MissingMom mother's death years ago]], and the fact Mr. Katou appears to be absent altogether. The only hint towards his presence is him giving Jeri $15 per day to spend on food to eat at lunch, which often leads to Jeri eating a lot of fast food because of how cheap it is in the long term. Combined with Jeri's LethalChef status, Mr. Katou's inability to properly teach Jeri about eating a proper diet is just ''one'' example of his ParentalNeglect towards his daughter.
* PickyEater: Often orders fast food to eat, even behind the back of her father. Or, rather, because her father is too lazy to neglectful to bother raising her like a normal child with a normal type of diet. Some can't exactly ''completely'' blame either of them though considering [[{{UsefulNotes/Autism}} Jeri's condition.]] Then again, based off of what we see in Chapter 1, Jeri's father leaves her $15 per day for her to use for lunch, which depending on where you are in the US, is more than enough to buy fast food for a single person lunch.
* PostStressOvereating: Often eats a lot when she deals with the aftermath of a brutal blow to her mental stability.
* SarcasmBlind: What causes her friendship with Ruki to begin with; she doesn't recognize an insult from Ruki and ends up becoming friends with her as a result. Thankfully for Jeri, Ruki has been getting better as a person because of their friendship.
* ShrinkingViolet: Due to her psychological issues and DarkAndTroubledPast at times.
* SmoochOfVictory: [[spoiler:Whispers into Takato's ear to give her one for her performance with dealing with [=MetalEtemon=], as well as Takato's actions to even allow Jeri and Impmon to get on board in the first place, to which Takato nervously agrees and kisses her on the lips as the chapter ends.]]
* {{Squee}}: When she enters the Digimon tamer's club for the first time, she has this reaction to seeing some of the Digimon present in the same room as her. She gets a little too close for comfort when she does this to Ryo's Cyberdramon though.
* StalkerShrine: She doesn't have one, but [[spoiler:Devimon sees an illusion of what one she ''could'' have would look like in Chapter 8 courtesy of Darigus. If what is seen is to be believed, she has ''more'' than a mere crush on Takato.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: Jeri and Impmon's CurbStompBattle against the Metal Empire Coalition in Chapter 10 has Ruki asking when did Jeri become such a badass. [[spoiler:{{Justified}} in that Impmon is carrying the Ultra Card, which gives him SuperEmpowering to allow him and Jeri to move from car to car, blowing up the ones left behind as they go, as they progress to the mystery cargo car directly behind Locomon itself.]]
* TookALevelInJerkass: PlayedForLaughs: During Jeri's periods, her mindset causes her to try to behave more like an AlphaBitch; key emphasis on tries because her attempts to come across as a {{Jerkass}} ends up only making her look dorky since, while her behavior during her period is indeed kind of {{Jerkass}}-worthy, the fact Jeri looks very [[GenkiGirl child-like for a teen]], [[MoodDissonance on the other hand...]]
* WeightWoe: {{Zigzagged}}. She never was properly raised to learn that fast food wasn't exactly healthy since weight gain is especially prone to happen with these meals, but considering how her father was kind of giving her neglect with what the definition of an ordinary meal was for someone her age, she ultimately viewed fast food as being normal for her and thus any concern for weight was non-existent. In fact, she seems oblivious to the nature of this trope as she seems to not have a clue what some of her friends say when they make a comment on how she might gain weight if she eats too much of a certain fast food item.
* {{Yandere}}: A {{Downplayed}} example at the very least; Jeri's noticeably more aggressive when it comes to showing her affection to Takato, at least when compared to every other character showing affection to their LoveInterest. Due to her behavior being based off of the author's own experiences with UsefulNotes/{{Autism}}, this is actually reflecting how the author was like towards at least two of his prior girlfriends.

!! Impmon > [[https://www.deviantart.com/mf217/art/Vungareimon-782020219 Vungareimon]][[note]](Devimon initially)[[/note]] > [[https://www.deviantart.com/mf217/art/Vungareimon-Digivolve-to-832310666 Barbarymon]][[note]]([=NeoDevimon=] initially)[[/note]] > Beelzemon > Beelzemon Blast Mode

* AbnormalLimbRotationRange: Barbarymon is quite literally liquid except for his head, considering his entire body outside of that exception can twist and turn in such ways that can allow Barbarymon to fit through tight spaces that a Digimon his size would never dream of being able to sneak through without tearing the corridors asunder in the process. The only restriction is the aforementioned skull, which is far too solid in nature to allow the same abnormal movement as the remainder of Barbarymon's body. Also, much like an actual cat, Barbarymon can turn his head around further than any normal person can, to the point of effectively being able to look backwards.
* AdaptationSpeciesChange:
** His Champion and Ultimate were originally Meramon and [=SkullMeramon=] respectively, but the model of the virtual pet used in the story which subsequently alters Impmon's prior forms also ends up forcing him into Devimon and [=NeoDevimon=] for Champion and Ultimate respectively.
*** Likewise, he didn't have his canonical anime introduced Baby and In-Training stages either; the same model of the V-Pet depicted in the prologue heavily implied this incarnation's Baby and In-Training forms were Puttimon and Kyupimon respectively. In the soft reboot of ''Digimon Re: Tamers'', the forms are back to the canonical Keemon and Yarmon respectively.
** Beginning with Chapter [=16B=], we learn after it was previously hinted that Devimon and [=NeoDevimon=] are not Impmon's true Champion and Ultimate forms, and neither were Meramon and [=SkullMeramon=]. At least, not for very long. At the end of Chapter 18, Impmon digivolves into his true Champion Level form, in the form of a fan-made Digimon named "[[https://www.deviantart.com/mf217/art/Vungareimon-782020219 Vungareimon]]", with the Ultimate Level form being another fan-made design known as "[[https://www.deviantart.com/mf217/art/Vungareimon-Digivolve-to-832310666 Barbarymon]]".
*** Funnily enough, this was the whole intent of [=MF217=] to begin with was to use fan-made forms; however, he did not intend to use designs of his own at first, instead trying to ask permission from another artist to use their forms they made. However, they never replied to [=MF217=], and subsequently a burst of creativity flowing through his mind ultimately eventually wound up causing [=MF217=] to design Vungareimon, and then a while later Barbarymon. The rest is history at that point.
* AdaptationalBadass: Beelzemon Blast Mode has sometimes been considered an Ultra Level, but that's mostly in games where it's overall power flat out eclipses normal Beelzemon, such as ''VideoGame/DigimonMasters''. In ''VideoGame/DigimonStoryCyberSleuth'', it's a Mega Level, but it isn't a Mode Change and has it's own requirements needing to be fulfilled to Digivolve into it. Also, unlike all other Mega Level Digimon, and sharing this in common with every Ultra Level Digimon in the game, Beelzemon BM has a Memory requirement of 25; the highest possible in the game. The only other Mega to have this requirement is Duftmon LM, but that Digimon is a Mode Change unlike Beelzemon BM.
* ArchEnemy:
** Kumbhiramon considers Impmon as Vungareimon to be this, as it's noteworthy in that Kumbhiramon seems to know significantly more about Vungareimon than any of the other Deva ever show. This mostly boils down to the way the Eastern Zodiac was formed; the rat tricked the cat into missing out on the race, and thus cats became mortal enemies with rats as a result, and Vungareimon, for all intents and purposes, is a giant, demonic cat-like creature.
** In the soft reboot of the fic, Indramon is promoted to this for Impmon personally. Not only does Indramon reprise the role of being an absolute jackass to Impmon, but apparently before Impmon had ever entered the real world, this was already a pre-established history between the two. Indramon, by the time he encounters Impmon in the real world again, simply forgot who he even was to begin with and doesn't realize at first that he's the same Digimon he bullied in the Digital World.
* BerserkButton:
** He's not going to take any insult towards his tamer lightly.
** Indramon must've really did something to him to warrant such a violent reaction from Vungareimon.
* BodyHorror:
** When he's Digivolving into Vungareimon for the first time, he tears his apart his own body as Devimon from the inside out, first appearing as cracking ridges forming along Devimon's form, before Vungareimon explosively emerges from within his own Devimon form and causes his exterior to shatter like glass and promptly melt into smoldering ash.
** Every bit of Barbarymon's anatomy is ''wrong''; it's hands have the thumbs located seamlessly on the opposite end of where they should be, he has CreepyLongFingers, his entire torso is skeletal with visible organs and his head is nothing but a skull that can't decide whether it's human-like or beast-like in terms of its teeth. Also, it's not obvious at first due to the pose it's pictured in, but Barbarymon also has a pathetically skinny midsection compared to both his larger upper body and lower body.
* BroughtDownToNormal: Starts off as a disgruntled Beelzemon Blast Mode who was unable to be there for his tamer all her life when she needed him the most, and upon entering the real world, degenerates into Impmon and has to work his way back up to acquire his evolved forms.
* CallingYourAttacks: Noticeably averted during his fight with Vilemon, although {{Justified}} with the finishing move.
-->Devimon: Filthy rat, you shall know the Touch of Evil!
* CerebusRetcon: Impmon's true Champion and Ultimate level forms are mysterious entities whom, as demonstrated from Vungareimon alone, are so vicious in nature that little information is documented on them because of how few survivors exist to report on their mere existence alone.
* CompositeCharacter: Vungareimon is a mixture of Leomon, Devimon, and Meramon, with Barbarymon being a mixture of [=NeoDevimon=], [=GrapLeomon=], and [=SkullMeramon=].
* EstablishingSeriesMoment: His GoshDarnItToHeck tangent in the prologue actually establishes an unusual fact about ''Digimon Re: Tamers'' that is the fact the ObligatorySwearing is going to be toned down to the point it's most often used as a PrecisionFStrike scenario at most. This is in stark contrast with previous fics like ''Digimon Re: Adventure'', and even ''Truth and Ideals'', in which the swearing was there from the beginning only to get out of control as the story progressed; the fact nobody actually swears until Henry's flashback of him CallingTheOldManOut is a major testament to the author's attempts to heavily tone down the overabundance of swearing in his fics prior to this one.
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** Impmon is sleeping at Jeri's house in the morning of Chapter 1, and mutters digivolving into a Champion Level form, murmuring the names partially for Devidramon and Ogremon, and then upon waking up, asks himself what his actual digivolved forms are aside from Beelzemon. This implies that Devimon and [=NeoDevimon=] are not his natural Champion and Ultimate forms respectively.
* GoodAngelBadAngel: {{Parodied}}; while there is an angel and devil, both of them are skimpily dressed rather than the latter, both of them are modeled after ''Jeri'' rather than Impmon or any of his forms, and then there's the fact the ''devil'' is the one giving the good advice one would expect from the angel and not the reverse as seen here. Impmon also is normally the only one who can see them, but judging by Grandis' reaction he can apparently see them as well, leading to a certain line from Grandis.
--> Grandis: [[SurroundedByIdiots Y'all are]] ''[[SurroundedByIdiots crazy.]]''
* GoshDarnItToHeck: His RageBreakingPoint at the beginning of the fic has him avoiding using normal cursing words.
* HorrifyingHero: Barbarymon's redesigned head gives the impression all by itself, considering it's brutal biting strength is implied to be so strong it actually made the Sovereigns increasingly uneasy using it's appearance alone as a means of warding off invaders and thieves to sacred temples.
* HorrifyingTheHorror:
** Is on the receiving end of this when Darigus makes his debut, considering he slowly but certainly loses it as first everything transforms into a FireAndBrimstoneHell landscape, the human characters turn to stone, he's quickly left AloneWithThePsycho once Taomon needs to find [=WarGrowlmon=] and Rapidmon, and then the MindScrew of a twisted version of Jeri's bedroom appearing in Takato's house.
* KingOfBeasts: Barbarymon is named after the Barbary lion, and his hair that'll later pave way to Beelzemon's hair looks more like a mane in this form. That's not even getting into the fact his head is modeled after a lion skull.
* KnightOfCerebus: Once he becomes Vungareimon the first time the opponent is given a brutal mauling to death at the hands of a vicious demonic feline Digimon, and demonstrates this form's specialty quickly by being able to slay Deva Digimon even while still being a level below them.
* LeeroyJenkins: He bum rushes Raiga, an Omegamon, and only lucks out with the fight because Raiga deliberately let him win. In a later encounter with some Cyclonemon, he goes at the whole pack blindly on his own as Devimon. Sure he kicks all of their asses, but he and Jeri get scolded by going out on an adventure to massacre feral Digimon in vast numbers without thinking of the risks of doing so.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: If you know ''which'' V-Pet toy the author refers to in Chapter 1's author's notes, than you'll know exactly what Impmon's Champion and Ultimate forms are. [[spoiler:{{Subverted}} once we learn of Impmon's Champion and Ultimate being OC designs altogether rather than existing mons.]]
* ManBitesMan:
** Barbarymon's specialty with its powerful jaws and equally strong teeth. Even the toughest of Deva Digimon are said to be basically smashed to bits in a single bite from it as though a sledgehammer is used against fine pottery. Notably, Barbarymon's head is disproportionately larger than the heads of its prior and later forms, [[ShownTheirWork only further reinforcing the nature of Barbarymon having a very powerful bite.]]
*** The [[https://sta.sh/01jjr8x01cik redraw of Barbarymon's head]] only reinforces this idea. Barbarymon's design tweak sees to it so that his head is even larger than it was prior, with the additional detailing in his teeth as well as the additional layers of teeth making it clear that Barbarymon's bite is nothing short of '''agonizing pain''' to experience.
* {{Manchild}}: His FatalFlaw; he behaves like a spoiled brat who feels entitled to have the chance to finally meet his tamer in the real world, considering that he knows Jeri has been suffering growing up without him, and he thinks his presence in her life will begin to mark a change for the better. While he's not wrong about this considering what happens afterwards, his bratty behavior often causes more trouble than he honestly wants to deal with for either himself or Jeri. A key example being when Henry has no reason to face Impmon as Devimon using Terriermon as Rapidmon. Devimon knows full well that he's at a type disadvantage against Rapidmon, but he's too jealous of Rapidmon's Ultimate Level form and demands for a fight to prove he's still a badass, which only results in him getting his ass kicked.
* MythologyGag:
** Impmon as Jeri's partner and subsequently being the lead Digimon protagonist actually started off as an unused draft for ''Tamers'' which had Takato's own partner Digimon originally being Impmon, but Guilmon was chosen because the writers wanted a more innocent Digimon.
** Impmon's fire attack isn't officially called Badaboom in this fic, but in the Dub of ''Tamers'', it was indeed called Badaboom due to how Impmon spoke his lines in the Dub.
** Impmon's early cameo of his Devimon form is meant to resemble how Devimon originally appears in the first opening of ''Digimon Adventure''.
** Impmon's evolved forms having a low voice, which in the Dub he more or less used a grownup version of his original voice, is based off of the Japanese version in which Impmon's voice as Beelzemon is drastically different. Technically his Dub voice ''did'' also do this as well, but considering Beelzemon in the Dub was both rarely calm and whenever he lost his cool slipped back into his Impmon voice...
** Barbarymon is both named after and possesses very leonine traits in appearance, referencing the fact Canon!Jeri was partnered with Leomon.
* NightmareFace: The redesigned head as of 2021 for Barbarymon is significantly more ferocious simply by being larger overall and being significantly more heavily built, [[https://sta.sh/01jjr8x01cik with the preview image]] of the full image being simply his newer head design simply because it was believed the only thing needed to get the point across of how absurdly strong Barbarymon's bite truly is.
* OffWithHisHead:
** Flat out decapitates Indramon and turns his head into a keychain trinket after devouring Indramon's data in a ''very'' BloodierAndGorier death than what the fic has shown prior.
** Discussed by WordOfGod in the preview image's description of Barbarymon's tweaked head, which describes the larger size of his newer design having a head so big with jaws so massive that the original Barbarymon's head would fit perfectly inside the jaws of the newer head; in other words, the newer version would flat out decapitate and crush his old self's head to a bloody pastry in the end without having to so much as try.
* {{Retcon}}:
** Beelzemon Blast Mode was originally simply a more powerful Mega Level form for Impmon in this fic when it was first posted, but once ''Hacker's Memory'' buffed Beelzemon Blast Mode to Ultra Level to match Gallantmon Crimson Mode[[note]][[ShownTheirWork (technically they keep him as Mega Level, but his stats, support skill, and moveset resemble the Ultra Level Digimon more than a regular Mega, and also takes up 25 Memory Slots instead of the standard 18-22 Memory Slots; the only other Mega Level Digimon with this distinction is Duftmon Leopard Mode, and every other Digimon with a Memory Slot usage of 25 is flat out Ultra Level by comparison; Gallantmon Crimson Mode is among those Digimon to boot)]][[/note]], it was changed long before it was too late to have Beelzemon Blast Mode as it is in this fic to be Ultra Level as well. It was also originally intended, prior to this change, that Blast Mode was the default form of Beelzemon.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Why he decides to fight Raiga for the key card to finally meet his tamer.
* TakesOneToKillOne: Vungareimon has an explicit advantage with not just terminating Virus Attribute Digimon, but ''also'' towards being able to terminate Deva Digimon. The Deva speculate that Vungareimon is perhaps a fallen member of their own, but none of them can recognize it as being one of their own kind. This is because Vungareimon represents the unofficial member of the Eastern Zodiac in the form of the cat. Barbarymon, the next Digivolution of Vungareimon, even has a signature attack which is designed to tear apart Deva Digimon.
* TerrorHero: Barbarymon's visual appearance has been used on the décor and artwork of a lost civilization that only uses his ferocious appearance to guard their ancient land to scare off intruders or thieves. Even the Sovereigns have gotten a tad paranoid this idea worked a little too well in hindsight, considering none of them are willing to answer or find out exactly how strong Barbarymon's bite actually is.
* WhamLine:
** He speaks the name of an attack he uses to decapitate Indramon as Vungareimon, but rather than calling it by it's Dub name of Wolf Claw, he refers to it as Kaiser Nail. The BloodierAndGorier usage of the attack pretty much removes the kid gloves regarding the previously established BloodlessCarnage the fic had maintained prior to this point.
* WrongContextMagic:
** Vungareimon for any other Digimon would've normally been a Dark Digivolution, but for [[OurDemonsAreDifferent Impmon]], the form is a natural form of his considering it's just another type of demonic Digimon for his later forms. Whereas Devimon is more intelligent overall, Vungareimon is more of a savage individual with not a whole lot truly different aside from what other aspects makes them different from each other despite the two being demonic Digimon to the core.
** {{Subverted}} with Barbarymon; Barbarymon is '''significantly''' more unhinged due to his fully absorbed Crest of Gluttony, causing Barbarymon to attack friend and foe alike, as this form is treated more like an actual Dark Digivolution, but it remains Impmon's Ultimate from this point forward, as Impmon must now master his control over this form to ever become Beelzemon again.
** The Soul Link when applied to Jeri and Barbarymon doesn't cause the FusionDance that everyone else experiences; it instead causes Barbarymon to skip normal Beelzemon entirely and go straight into Beelzemon Blast Mode. It's implied presence awakening prematurely in Jeri also incidentally helped partially unlock his form of Vungareimon.

!! Takato Matsuki

* CannotTalkToWomen:
** His FatalFlaw which results in a lot of PoorCommunicationKills type of situations. He has a crush on Jeri which is mutual, but he CannotSpitItOut due to fear of invoking the wrath of the other girls in the female student body. He can barely talk to Ruki because she scares him at times with her attitude issues. He can't talk to Henry's sister because he doesn't know how to properly behave around a younger child, and then of course he loses his shit against Raiga because of her being a towering ActionGirl who intimidates just about everyone.
** This is overall {{Downplayed}} in earlier chapters, but it shows far more in Chapter 11 in which Takato had previously been around friends he could easily behave himself around to counterbalance this, but Chapter 11 is when that safe reassurance is removed because he is now completely on his own with becoming an OfficialCouple with Jeri, in which his male friends are basically only observing from the side since they need Takato to man up and ask Jeri out on his own accord.
* CrimeMagnet: Since Guilmon has the Digital Hazard within him, Takato ends up having to deal with both potential friend and foes that want him dead solely because they view Guilmon as a threat to society. [[spoiler:Guilmon has had a difficult time hiding as of late, considering Ruki's entire household and neighborhood is in uproar about a Digimon with the Digital Hazard being sighted nearby from what rumors say.]]
* FatalFlaw: NoSocialSkills. His incredible focus on his studies and athletics makes him a JackOfAllStats in terms of getting good grades in classes... except for ones that explicitly require in-depth social interaction. While he can keep his cool in sports, he's barely speaking much of the time. Not only that, but he's unable to truly make any romantic advances of his own and it's ultimately Jeri who actively attempts to court him. Takato himself also has a mutual crush on her, but he CannotSpitItOut because he CannotTalkToWomen worth a damn.
* FreakOut: [[spoiler:When he finally showcases his NoSocialSkills the most is when he's completely alone with Jeri and nobody remotely familiar to him, be them friends or family, are anywhere near within contact range. With none of his friends or family to back him up with a clearly smitten girl in the same room as him alone, Takato has a nervous breakdown trying to, very awkwardly, figure out how to tell Jeri that love doesn't work the way she thinks and that he isn't ready to be a couple with her, even despite the fact he ''does'' agree to go on a date with Jeri despite that.]]
* HiddenDepths: His flaws are hidden rather well when he's in the company of friends, Guilmon, or his parents, but when you completely isolate him from those three at once, his lack of social skills become much more obvious, as otherwise they give the impression of being [[InformedFlaw Informed Flaws]].
* InformedFlaw: His lack of social skills ''seem'' to be this, but he can actually maintain confidence in he presence of peers who he is the most familiar with, or with his parents. Remove the Digimon from the situation and the aforementioned friends and parents, and leave him in a room with his LoveInterest Jeri, [[spoiler:and the entire reason he's reluctant to become an OfficialCouple with Jeri becomes ''a lot'' more clearer.]]
* LonelyAtTheTop: He often showcases himself as TheStoic because he's bottling up many upset reasons as to why VictoryIsBoring as to how he's reached the top of the school chain in terms of student fame and likability, but he has no real friends due to being so heavily focused on his studies and athletic activities that he has developed poorly in social skills.
* LovableJock: Is a rather well known student at his school for one reason or another, which often leads to him getting too much attention.
* LoveInterest: For Jeri.
* ObliviousToLove: What he pretends to be to hide the fact he CannotTalkToWomen.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:Chapter 10's last few minutes begin the first phases of this with him and Jeri, but it's {{Subverted}} in that while the two did kiss, they still have a while to go before it truly sinks in for real. Takato's issues as detailed across his character sheet here is what ultimately prevents the two from becoming an OfficialCouple right then and there.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler:His breakdown and drama with trying to become an OfficialCouple with Jeri in Chapter 11 is due to the fact Takato is the only one thus far to be aware of Jeri beginning her period around the time the two had first kissed, and their meeting in Chapter 13 is basically Takato trying to fight his own hormones to the best of his abilities while also trying to tell Jeri that love doesn't work in the way she thinks it does, although considering how few of this actually gets through to Jeri, Takato at least agrees to date her just to see if he could perhaps explain it better that way rather than while being too busy distracted by being alone with Jeri and their hormones getting to one another.]]
* RealMenCook: Since his family no longer lives in Japan, where bread bakeries were far more important, Takato's family still continues to work with cooking, but have now began to adapt to the US by being a bakery for sweets such as donuts, cookies, cakes, and more in an attempt to still keep their original occupations as close as possible. Takato has adapted to it as well by being able to cook better than before, but he's banned from actually having any of what his family makes after having gorged on too many sweets one time ago.
* ShrinkingViolet: Gets too much attention from people at school for his own good.
* WhamLine: [[spoiler:''Via the narration'':]] My name is Matsuki Takato.[[labelnote:Context]][[spoiler:Since Grandis is currently dead and his inner monologues have ceased altogether, Chapter 17 marks the first chapter to be narrated by someone else altogether until the inevitable awakening of another Grandis altogether in which only then does the usual narrative resume.]][[/labelnote]]
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: It takes getting him completely alone with Jeri in a room to showcase why he's so socially insecure as he is. [[spoiler:He relies on either his friends, Guilmon, or his parents to keep his composure in check around Jeri; without any of those three factors at all, and he's reduced to an incredibly nervous wreck with only Jeri to talk to, which is the main blockade between him becoming an OfficialCouple with Jeri.]]

!! Guilmon > Growlmon > [=WarGrowlmon=] > Gallantmon [[spoiler:> Gallantmon Crimson Mode]]

* AdaptationExpansion: [[spoiler:His ''entire'' line is the result of Takato's drawings, rather than merely his Rookie form alone. It's also a lot more plot relevant that Takato created Guilmon from scratch whereas the canon series dropped the plot point's relevance after several episodes.]]
* AdaptationalIntelligence: He speaks as though he's smarter than he actually is; he's still quite a silly guy, but in his evolved forms he's more of a {{Stoic}} who knows more than what he leads others to believe.
* AdaptationalJerkass: [[DownplayedTrope In that the Digital Hazard more actively influences his behavior for once.]]
* AdaptedOut: {{Defied}}: Gallantmon Crimson Mode is specifically absent from the flashback Takato has regarding the drawings he did for creating Guilmon, and Raiga isn't informed as a result that Gallantmon has another form. [[spoiler:Gallantmon Crimson Mode actually did ''not'' originate from Takato's drawings, but was rather created from Takato's mind while utilizing the Soul Link with [=WarGrowlmon=] combined as Gallantmon. In everyone else's case who uses the Soul Link, all of their higher forms are Digimon that exist InUniverse by comparison.]]
* ArtifactOfDoom: Has the Digital Hazard.
* [[ArtificialHuman Artificial Digimon]]: It's emphasized ''a lot'' more than in the canon that Guilmon's ''entire'' line is a line that doesn't exist and that Takato created him from scratch. [[spoiler:This particular Guilmon is also Royal Knight Dukemon when he achieves said form, which interferes with his and Takato's Soul Link abilities because of Dukemon being a third personality trying to emerge and interfere.]]
* AwesomeButImpractical: [=WarGrowlmon=] is actually ''weaker'' than Growlmon in terms of raw attack power; its weaponry is superior and its special moves are more powerful than Growlmon's, but it's basic melee attacks are not as strong as Growlmon's due to being more of the drastic shift in style of melee combat in comparison.
* BeyondTheImpossible: [[spoiler:His Ultra Digivolution into Gallantmon Crimson Mode, because the form in question '''did not exist up until now...''']]
* DarkIsNotEvil: The next best example of this aside from Impmon, because of Guilmon having the [[ArtifactOfDoom Digital Hazard]].
* {{Expy}}:
** Of [[Franchise/DragonBall Son Goku]], [[MythologyGag whom from the canon series, he shares a voice actor with in the Japanese version.]]
* HiddenDepths: Sometimes his dialogue has [[SmartBall a sudden lapse in his normally simpleton mind]] making him smarter than he mostly appears otherwise, but as to why this hasn't been revealed yet.
* IdiotHero: Sometimes channeling [[Characters/DragonBallSonGoku Son Goku]] here.
* {{Manchild}}: Despite being introduced as [=WarGrowlmon=] first, his dialogue is that more akin to a child than a normal Ultimate Level. Whereas Rapidmon has the excuse of being just that chill with everyone, Guilmon legitimately has the mind of a child in comparison to fellow Ultimate Level Digimon. Or, at least, he'd have you lead to believe at times.
* TheNicknamer: See VerbalTic below.
* RealityWarper: [[spoiler:An unintended side-effect of Megidramon's [=DigiCore=] laying dormant in Gallantmon at all times, as demonstrated when he Ultra Digivolves into the Ultra Level Gallantmon Crimson Mode, whom mind you, did not exist InUniverse like the other prior forms of him did; Takato had originally only designed up to Mega before his Digivice scanned his drawings.]]
* ShownTheirWork: [=WarGrowlmon=] being weaker than Growlmon is a direct reference to ''VideoGame/DigimonMasters'', in which Growlmon has a higher base Attack stat than [=WarGrowlmon=], but as far as skills go his Ultimate Level is still ''technically'' stronger, but if you're the type of player who uses purely the basic attack, than the DPS is indeed weaker outright.
* SuperMode: [[spoiler:Gallantmon Crimson Mode wills itself into existence from a combination of the Soul Link between Takato and [=WarGrowlmon=].]]
* VerbalTic: Every once in a while refers to characters with names with "mon" at the end, but not always. He tells Devimon though that it was a behavior of his that was much more common in the past than it is by the time the story starts.

!! Makino Ruki

* AdaptationalWimp: {{Invoked}} as {{Foreshadowing}} to showcase Ruki's current problems are cause by [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness a situation beyond what is considered normal for her]], and sometimes she showcases her normal ActionGirl status just fine. [[spoiler:Problem is she's being emotionally manipulated by Enric and his crew, ''especially'' by Besiege.]]
* TheAlcoholic: How her obsession with soda is portrayed. [[JustifiedTrope Literally the only reason it's not actual alcohol she's drinking is because she's still underage to even think about having alcohol.]]
* ActionGirl: Par for the course with Ruki.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Loses a majority of her {{Tsundere}} traits, but otherwise keeps the ActionGirl status she has in the canon. Still remains a bit of a {{Jerkass}}, but it's so generalized in comparison to normal that it seems mundane when compared to Henry's reasons for it.
* AggressiveSubmissive: She specifically states that she wants Ryo to rock her world in his own way when she finally turns 18 and can finally have sex with him. By this, her normally dominant part in their relationship takes a backseat to how Ruki wants to be pleasured in bed. [[spoiler:She actually does this as a test for Ryo; she wants to have Ryo dominate her, but she wants to ensure he won't do anything to harm her in doing so, even if by accident. Ruki is scared of Ryo's strength and fit form, and her desire to be fucked by him regularly after turning 18 wants her to be certain she won't be accidentally injured by him during sex, and that she can truly feel safe when she relinquishes control to someone whom she trusts with her life so far.]]
* BeYourself: {{Deconstructed}}; after her brief week of being girlier than normal, Ruki is happier than she had been in years since she was a little kid, but when she tries to go back to her normal {{Tomboy}} behavior, she's feeling heavily conflicted once she realizes her happiness is beginning to fade once she becomes more her "normal" self. When she discusses this with her friends, she admits she has no idea who her "true" self is; is she a GirlyGirl deep down who enjoyed liberation after being hidden for so long? Or is she a true {{Tomboy}} who is hiding her emotions too much behind a {{Stoic}} exterior?
* BeneathTheMask: Hides a much more WomenAreDelicate interior than her {{Tomboy}} exterior shows her to be otherwise; while she does let this slip during her [[MomentOfWeakness moments of weakness]], she doesn't give any ''obvious'' impressions that she hides a TomboyWithAGirlyStreak underneath her standard {{Tomboy}} exterior.
* Bittersweet17: [[spoiler:The actual reason for her {{Jerkass}} behavior; she isn't ready to admit she's becoming a HormoneAddledTeenager for Ryo because she thinks people will view her differently than all of those years prior, to the point she thinks she'll be no different from her mother if she easily gives in to Ryo once she's 18.]]
* CatapultNightmare: Averted; when Ruki has a nightmare during the first arc, her eyes open wide and she gasps loudly, but her body remains completely in place aside from her shivering.
* {{Chickification}}: PlayedWith. Part of her moments of distress have small shades of her emotional turmoil and HeroicBSOD that keeps her from functioning at 100%, or just the fact Ruki is more willing to admit her {{Tomboy}} nature is just a mask for her HiddenDepths of feminine qualities. At the same time, however, she doesn't end up becoming an actual DamselInDistress; she doesn't get captured at all, she's just emotionally abused and manipulated into doing things on her own will by her adversaries because they're holding ''others'' hostage who Ruki is emotionally attached to, such as her mother and grandmother.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:She has no memory of her actual father or even who he was; all she knows is he was an ordinary man who got drunk with Ruki's mother one night and got her mother pregnant and disappeared just as quickly as he had appeared. Ever since, Ruki's mother had been trying to find a replacement father for Ruki since the latter was a young age, and even to this day continues to try and do so even considering Ruki being 17. Ruki's mother currently found a new guy as of late, and it has been causing Renamon to become unusually violent to the point Ruki hides the fact from others that Renamon, as Taomon, suddenly attacked Ruki out of a blind rage, and Renamon has become increasingly difficult to control ever since until the first arc tries to sort out what exactly is going on with Ruki's mother and her new suitor.]]
* DespairEventHorizon: [[spoiler:Sick and tired of the fact she hasn't been able to go home without feeling safe at all, she tries to confront her mother's boyfriend herself, only to be greeted with a SadisticChoice by the man in question. Either Ruki uses a Bronze Card which'll weaken the Digital World's barrier from being able to contain Brondramon, or she'll everything she loves robbed from her first with the planned murders of both her mother and grandmother. Considering Ruki had almost been killed by Darigus the prior chapter, and the fact Ruki had become increasingly desperate to have a chance to finally be back home, she more or less completely snapped with the wreck she's putting herself through as of Chapter 9.]]
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything:
** Her obsession with canned soda at times can give the impression of her being a G-Rated [[TheAlcoholic Alcoholic]]. [[JustifiedTrope In fact, had it not been for her being underage, she would've been drinking actual alcohol.]]
** Her "look but don't touch" rule for Ryo seems innocent enough considering Ryo is loyal to her and all, but then [[spoiler:a certain [=IceDevimon=] doesn't seem to acknowledge said rule and lets his hands roam all across Ruki's body at his own will, ''especially'' violating Ruki's personal space without her consent.]]
** [[spoiler:Michael/[=IceDevimon=] puts something inside of her during their last confrontation, and considering the rapist tones Michael was giving off in the entire scene, one would be forgiven for taking this line out of context and assuming Michael raped her and got her pregnant. Rather what actually happened was Michael forcing a drug of unknown design down Ruki's throat during a ForcefulKiss.]]
* EatingTheEyeCandy: She definitely eyes up Ryo when the latter is doing yard work, shirtless at that, in Chapter 14.
* FanDisservice: [[spoiler:Michael groping her ass and forcing her into a kiss which is meant to put something inside her is one thing, but the fact Michael is possibly his own partner Digimon ''[=IceDevimon=]'' [[BestialityIsDepraved at the same time...]]]]
* ForcefulKiss: [[spoiler:Given one by [=IceDevimon=]/Michael in Chapter 17, as a means for Michael to ensure an unspecified package gets delivered by forcing Ruki to swallow it.]]
* FreakOut:
** [[spoiler:Her being given a SadisticChoice in Chapter 9 by her mother's DomesticAbuser in which she has to use the Bronze Card or else have her mother and grandmother killed after they had already been kidnapped ''really'' did a number to her already implied SanitySlippage.]]
** [[spoiler:Ruki being given a package containing a real pistol with actual ammunition with the note on it saying it's from her father; the fact she has an actual clue that her father even ''exists'' is too much for her to take in at once.]]
* GirlinessUpgrade:
** {{Parodied}}; she loses a bet to Jeri which forces her to go through a temporary, albeit exaggerated, GirlinessUpgrade for an entire week.
** {{Discussed}} during a BreatherEpisode with her and Jeri, just casually talking about each other's personal lives as Ruki mentions she isn't too sure whether to be more of a GirlyGirl or continue as a {{Tomboy}}, considering the former would be too sudden of a change for her, and the latter [[spoiler:gives her flashbacks as to Renamon as Taomon attacking her, which had happened precisely during a phase when she was being ''too'' {{Tomboy}}ish for her own good.]] Ruki wants to [[BeYourself Be Herself]] when it comes to whether she's more girly or tomboyish, but she doesn't know ''who'' her "true" self actually is between the two.
* HormoneAddledTeenager: Why she's TheTease towards Ryo every once in a while. [[spoiler:Especially during her date with him taking place during the week she has to wear traditionally feminine outfits instead of her tough girl clothing. She does, however, warn Ryo several times to "look but don't touch". Early on it's both "don't look and don't touch", but she very often has a tendency to give him consent to at least look.]]
* InconsistentDub: Has her surname and first name is her Japanese ones. She also has a tendency of sometimes slipping into using the Japanese names for certain Digimon, skills, and evolutionary levels at times, but she's growing out of it.
* TheJailBaitWait: Holds Ryo hostage in this situation; she's 17, Ryo's around 18+, and they're both dating. Ryo is increasingly a HormoneAddledTeenager, but Ruki knows Ryo can't touch her legally until Ruki turns 18 as well. She does offer Ryo some consolation until then in that he's allowed to let his eyes wander on Ruki as he sees fit, but explicitly tells him to not touch her at least in a sexual manner.
* {{Jerkass}}: Why her attempts to be a role model to younger girls fails; she's too rude and misbehaved to have any young children near here. Jeri's the only girl she's nice to around her own age as well because Ruki unwittingly befriended her only because of Jeri being SarcasmBlind and thus mistake a snarky insult as meaning Ruki would indeed be her friend when they were both much younger.
* MomentOfWeakness: What ultimately had her digivice stolen in the first place originally; [[spoiler:after accidentally cracking her digivice open and cutting her hand, she ends up suffering the immediate aftermath of being [[MindRape Mind Raped]] by a passing by Enigma, and as she heads to her grandmother to tend to her wound and talk about her frustrations, her mother's new boyfriend sneaks in during Ruki's moment of vulnerability and steals her digivice without her being able to realize it until it's too late. The reason for this? She was irritated by an Angewomon's brutal beatdown of Taomon that almost gets her killed due to recklessly thinking Taomon's Data Attribute would give her the superior advantage, only to be proven wrong when Angewomon is just that strong as a feral Ultimate.]]
* MsExposition: For Jeri regarding who she is in general; [[JustifiedTrope considering Jeri's autism prevents her from properly explaining herself on her own accord, Ruki has to step in and assist with getting everyone acquainted with her so things don't get out of hand.]]
* OneOfTheBoys: Frequently hangs out with Takato, Henry, Kazu, and Kenta in a completely platonic friendship considering all four boys know she's Ryo's girl, as well as the fact [[spoiler:with Henry it doesn't matter since he wouldn't be attracted to her anyways]]. Her only female friends tend to be Alice and Jeri by comparison, and even then Alice rarely shows up with her, so it's often times just Jeri and her every once in a while. Although admittedly justified with Jeri, considering she's assigned to be Jeri's guide to the Tamer's Club out of Jeri's own choice.
* RapeAsDrama:
** [[spoiler:While she is indeed being groped and forcefully kissed by [=IceDevimon=]/Michael, he was a RedHerring for someone who actually ''will'' try for this, as Michael was merely a messenger meant to deliver a package orally into Ruki, and when Ruki shot him dead, he fulfilled his mission. Ruki's thoughts on the matter are very much traumatized from the experience, but she's more so upset over the fact TheseHandsHaveKilled more so than the sexual assault. She also avoids wanting to acknowledge it even happened, flat out lying to Jeri about the incident's outcome in Chapter 18, as well as what even happened during said incident, but when her lies begin to form cracks in the bigger picture when she's so caught up in trying to masquerade it all, it doesn't take long for someone more keen to body language and dialogue to take notice that Ruki is hiding something, and is very, very much indeed suffering trauma from the incident in question.]]
* ScarsAreForever:
** [[spoiler:Has a scar along her chest which she has no clue where it came from, other than that it had been there for years.]]
** [[spoiler:Also has claw marks on her back, which for a while are heavily implied to be from Cyberdramon; they're actually from Renamon, specifically from her Taomon form.]]
* SupremeChef: She knows how to cook rather well, considering Takato taught her a few things as did Henry.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: Something she tends to hide beneath a {{Tomboy}} mask; she has a lot of insecurities with her feminine side, which leads to a lot of WomenAreDelicate traits showing up whenever she's in a very vulnerable MomentOfWeakness. It makes it all the more jarring when it's eventually made clear that, with the exception of Renamon, Ryo, and Grandis, Ruki doesn't showcase her feminine inner qualities to anyone else at all.
* TookALevelInKindness: As she befriends Jeri and gets to know her more, especially when Ruki has to live up to her end of the bet when she loses it by going through a GirlinessUpgrade for a week.
* TheseHandsHaveKilled: [[spoiler:She doesn't want to bring up to anyone any time soon that she personally killed Michael/[=IceDevimon=] in self-defense even though the bastard had it coming to him either way after all he had done. Ruki flat out lies through her teeth to Jeri about how she disposed of Michael in the end with Renamon's assistance.]]
* {{Tsundere}}: ''Heavily'' {{Downplayed}} in comparison to the canon, but she mostly shows it when flirting with Ryo.

!! Renamon > Kyubimon > Taomon > [[spoiler:Sakuyamon Miko Mode > Sakuyamon]]

* ActionGirl
* AdaptationalBadass[=/=]AdaptationalWimp: [[spoiler:Sakuyamon's two different modes are normally supposed to have Miko Mode as the stronger form, but since Miko mode isn't as combat heavy as regular Sakuyamon, the two forms are reversed in terms of which comes from the other, so that Miko Mode is the regular Mega, and regular Sakuyamon is the Blast Digivolution Mega. It's worth noting that Sakuyamon doesn't have as strong spells as Miko Mode, however, but once again, is otherwise superior in combat ability.]]
* BadassInDistress: [[spoiler:Technically not even in distress; someone has stolen Ruki's Digivice, and while the person who did can't seal Renamon away, he can still drive her completely unhinged on a dime. Despite all of this, the only reason she loses to Devimon in Chapter 4 is because, as Devimon already said as Impmon, [=WarGrowlmon=], and later Cyberdramon, had already weakened her extensively by then.]]
* FourIsDeath: [[spoiler:More like unless they put her [=DigiCore=] back in her before 72 hours, she'll die, but she does indeed get a NonLethalKO against her in Chapter 4.]]
* GratuitousJapanese: {{Justified}}; she's actually from Japan's Digital World servers, hence why she speaks in Japanese at all, but she often uses this trope to hide what she's saying around strangers. Her conversation with Ruki at Jeri's porch is just one example of this, considering Renamon already knows Impmon can't speak Japanese as to know why Renamon was there to begin with.
* InconsistentDub: {{Discussed}} between her and Impmon in Chapter 7 regarding one of her attacks. Impmon suggests filling the sleazy boyfriend of Ruki's mother with diamond projectiles, but Renamon doesn't understand what he means even when he's referring to the Dub name of one of her attacks ("Diamond Storm"). Renamon spots a nearby wooden log to demonstrate said attack with, but while CallingYourAttacks, she says the name "Koyousetsu", after which Renamon picks up one of the projectiles and tells Impmon that they're not diamonds; they're ''[[PetalPower leaves]]''.
* {{Jerkass}}: Her initial introduction to Impmon paints her as this, though see [[NotHimself Not Herself]] below.
* MoreThanMindControl: [[spoiler:Why she's behaving so violent; a man is in control of Ruki's digivice due to having stolen it, and Renamon isn't exactly being [[MindRape Mind Raped]] so much as having her aggression amplified, making herself the bigger threat towards Ruki and her family than the man with the stolen digivice ever could be on his own. The man promptly gives Renamon a SadisticChoice; either he increases her aggression to maximum to make her kill Ruki on a dime, or Renamon listens to his orders by nightfall and he'll simply ensure her aggression won't harm Ruki or her family.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Avoids bringing up anything obvious about her prior condition to Ruki as to avoid reminding Ruki right away about [[spoiler:how as Taomon, she left a nasty scar along Ruki's body with her claws due to her increased aggression]].
* NotHimself: Is apparently being driven violent by the emotions of Ruki's [[spoiler:frustration about her mother's current boyfriend]], but may more importantly be because [[spoiler:a Digimon carrying the Digital Hazard is trespassing too close to Ruki's house for their own good, and thus Renamon is being too paranoid about it.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler:Normally doesn't need to actively seek assistance in a fight, but considering she has no idea what Darigus even ''is'', she readily seeks [=WarGrowlmon=] and Rapidmon to utilize Trinity Burst against him to see if it'll remotely even be able to ''damage'' him let alone defeat him.]]
* ProperlyParanoid: [[spoiler:A Digimon with the Digital Hazard, as well as the suspicious behavior of Ruki's mother regarding her new boyfriend, is causing Renamon to become violently protective of Ruki and her general neighborhood.]]
* TheWorfEffect: {{Averted}}; [[spoiler:had it not been for [=WarGrowlmon=] and Cyberdramon weakening her first, Devimon wouldn't have stood a chance against her. He even had to play stealthily to get the KO done anyways, meaning even then he couldn't outright beat her in a fight.]]

!! Henry[[spoiler:/Li Jianliang]]

* AbusiveParents: {{Understatement}} of the year here.
* AdaptationalSexuality: [[spoiler:Part of the reason for the motivation behind him [[ShedTheFamilyName Shedding The Family Name]]; he's gay in this incarnation of his character, and his family tried to arrange a marriage between him and a yet unseen female suitor, whom naturally Henry had zero attraction to and never will. [[CureYourGays The implications Henry got from his family regarding this]] didn't help matters.]]
* AlmightyJanitor: Plays the trope straight whereas [[spoiler:Grandis]] is a more literal example instead; [[spoiler:after having ran away from home, he was hired as a security staff and given a place under the school to stay and live at while he does his job. He eventually reworked the entire underground part of the school into what is the VIP Club nowadays, but instead of putting himself in charge, he puts Ryo in charge after a fight with Rapidmon and Cyberdramon determines that Cyberdramon's superior strength makes Ryo more worthy of the leadership, with Henry generally being a backup for Ryo in case of emergencies.]]
* AmbiguouslyGay: [[spoiler:He's written to be homosexual, but he doesn't have any LoveInterest to speak of. This is more or less simply meant to explain why he showcases zero romantic attraction to any of the female cast members.]]
* BrokenPedestal: [[spoiler:He could honestly care less about what goes on with his dad anymore; it takes Raiga glaring him down to so much as comfort his dad in a time where he's breaking down in a traumatic state.]]
* {{Expy}}: Of Koushirou from ''Digimon Re: Adventure''. Much like Koushirou, he's introduced with his partner Digimon digivolved into a form that is higher than Rookie. In Henry's case, though, it's in the form of the Ultimate Level Rapidmon. In Koushirou's case for comparison, it was with the Champion Level Kabuterimon.
* FirstNameBasis: ''Always'' refers to Grandis as Martin, and even people who reference Henry only reference his first name because he allegedly doesn't have one. [[spoiler:Though that has to do with ShedheFamilyName more than it does not having one to begin with.]]
* FiveSecondForeshadowing: Exactly what importance he has to say to his father Jiang-yu is considered this in hindsight due to the fact Henry's older relatives have so far been TheGhost. Henry asks a few odd questions to Jiang-yu in Chapter 21, seemingly none of them related to why he's got issues with him. [[spoiler:Turns out his father is being afflicted by some kind of virus that, as earlier hinted at in the chapter, is eating away at his intelligence and will kill him in 34 hours. Henry's come to the realization that, even despite how much he has a disdain towards his father, considering his WartsAndAll means of describing how he feels about him to this day, he never wanted to see his father die any time soon even despite all of that. Henry's brief description of how his father will die indicates it won't be a painless death either...]]
* HiddenDepths: When we first see him, he already has Terriermon digivolved into Rapidmon, meaning not only has he long since past Champion, but he's been able to achieve Ultimate for some time now. Whereas it would've been easy to show Terriermon as Gargomon, keep in mind in the canon, Terriermon's backstory already showcases this, meaning rather than show Terriermon as Champion, the author decided that to [[InvokedTrope Invoke]] this trope, it would require showcasing Terriermon as his Ultimate Level Rapidmon form.
* {{Hunk}}: {{Implied}}; his description puts him on par with Ryo, and both of them are described as being very muscular in appearance.
* IHaveNoSon: [[spoiler:{{Inverted}}. He ran away from home with Terriermon at 18 years of age, and started the VIP Club at school after being hired to work at the school as a member of security. Due to his poor relationships with his father, he openly admits his "parents are dead (to him)".]]
* InconsistentDub: Whereas Ruki merely keeps her original Japanese name because of her grandmother's heritage, Henry has a different reason entirely for why his Dub name is used whereas everyone else simply had the excuse of changing their names when they moved to the US. [[spoiler:In Henry's case he wants to ShedTheFamilyName by severing all ties to [[{{Jerkass}} his father]] as much as possible.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: Not towards just anyone, but mostly towards [[spoiler:his dad; when his dad is breaking down in a traumatic state, Henry has to be glared down by Raiga to even be bothered with comforting him.]]
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: [[spoiler:His only preferred name towards his friends is Henry, since see elsewhere under Henry's bio referring to ShedTheFamilyName as to why.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Something had happened between the end of Chapter 16B and the events of Chapter 21 to willingly cause him to track down his father and would display several noteworthy dents in his characterization from there as he tries to get his father to understand that [[spoiler:Jiang-yu has only 34 hours left to live, Jiang-yu's mental state is beginning to rapidly decline due to a virus, and that after his mental insanity hits full swing within those 34 hours he'll die a very painful death afterwards. Also, even though Henry does not mince his words one bit in regards to what he thinks of his old man, he's quick to point out immediately afterwards that even in spite of his hatred for his old man that he never wanted him to suffer a painful and agonizing death that'll happen within less than 2 days from then. Also, as a bonus, Henry doesn't even so much as bother reacting when Rapdimon ''also'' uncharacteristically refers to Henry by his real name of Jianliang.]]
* PrecisionFStrike: [[spoiler:As his father witnesses the hard way. For bonus points, this is the first time anyone uses an actual swear word in ''Digimon Re: Tamers''.]]
* ShedTheFamilyName: [[spoiler:He's so sick and tired of his dad's attempts to control his life that he changed his name entirely and ran away once he turned 18.]]
* StraightGay: Doesn't show any of the stereotypes associated with being gay. [[spoiler:Primarily because he'd rather not talk about his sexuality at all, considering it's one of two reasons he abandoned his family.]]
* ThouShallNotKill: [[spoiler:The primary reason he ditches his family; his father more or less murdered innocent Digimon under the presumption that every Digimon was AlwaysChaoticEvil, and Henry was so disgusted by his father's actions that he and Terriermon hit the road from there.]]
* VagueAge: He's the only main character whose {{Age Lift}}ed age in this AU is not outright stated or even blatantly hinted at. He ''technically'' shares this trait with Hirokazu and Kenta, but even then both of those two are stated to be younger than Henry is. Even when compared to Ryo, Henry's implied to be older than him, despite Ryo being no older than 19.
* WhamLine:
** Not anything he says himself, but [[spoiler:his family members all use their names from the original Japanese version of ''Tamers'', whereas Henry himself is very clearly using his English dub name. Considering we have spades of hints of Henry having issues with his father, he's very clearly trying to [[{{Invoked}} Invoke]] ShedTheFamilyName for himself anyways.]]
** "... [[spoiler:Lee Jiang-yu]], I have to inform you of what [[spoiler:our family]] had told me an hour ago. A parasite had invaded your body, and with that, you only have 34 hours left to live as of this moment."

!! Terriermon > Gargomon > Rapidmon > [=MegaGargomon=] > [[spoiler:Gundramon]]

* BeyondTheImpossible: [[spoiler:Chapter 21, as [=MegaGargomon=], showcases him using SummonMagic to manifest Craniummon behind him akin to a Stand and even utilize Craniummon's own attacks and weaponry, even though the laws of the universe dictate that this should be impossible, but exactly like how Craniummon views said laws, [=MegaGargomon=] does not care as to what should be considered impossible for him.]]
* TheGenericGuy: So far not much is really known about his background; he's a NiceGuy compared to the other VIP Club leaders, and he's much more a ReasonableAuthorityFigure than [[BloodKnight Cyberdramon]] and [[JudgeJuryAndExecutioner Raiga]], and he's also Henry's biggest MoralityPet, but he tends to be near completely OutOfFocus in terms of characterization.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: In Chapter 21, he refers to Henry as [[spoiler:Jianliang]] and doesn't get any sort of scolding for doing so despite what history Henry had previously been established to have regarding being called such. Then again, considering what Henry himself is feeling like in the same chapter, and the overall {{Synchronization}} both he and Henry had going on during which...

!! Hirokazu "Kazu" Shiota

* AdaptationalBadass: Whereas his partner Guardromon never reacquired his Andromon form in the canon, Kazu gets his partner as Hagurumon and manages to get him back up to Andromon come the present day.
* AdaptationalSexuality: Not as obvious of a change as [[spoiler:Henry]] in this regard, considering his canon self was borderline AmbiguouslyGay, but it's still worth mentioning because [[spoiler:Kazu and Henry are an OfficialCouple.]]
* {{Hunk}}: Roughly rivals if not surpasses Henry in this regard, though by how much hasn't been given a chance to be compared yet.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: He's very intimate when it comes to showcasing affection, to the point of constantly making some degree of physical contact with his boyfriend [[spoiler:(Henry)]]. Often times this annoys his boyfriend a little, considering [[spoiler:Henry]] thinks Kazu can be a little too touchy at the wrong times to the point of embarrassing him by accident. [[spoiler:When the two are completely alone, both are completely inseparable. Often times if they're not simply cuddling, they're both making out and being super intimate with each other.]]
* RobotBuddy: Andromon.

!! Hagurumon > Guardromon > Andromon > [=HiAndromon=] > Craniamon

* AdaptationalBadass: Was never one of the Royal Knights in the canon, and in addition to that, Craniamon is treated as a stronger Mega Level than normal, due to Blast Digivolving from [=HiAndromon=], which results in him being on par with Ultra Level Digimon.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: He ''thinks'' this is how the world works, at the very least, and while he's ''somewhat'' {{Justified}} considering some of the villains are very much definitely black in morality, there are some individuals altogether who fit more GrayAndGreyMorality.
* BeyondTheImpossible: Craniamon flat out refuses to acknowledge what he's doing is impossible simply because he does not care that it should be impossible. [[spoiler:Apparently [=MegaGargomon=] studied the same ideology as Craniummon did as [=MegaGargomon=] does similar things in Chapter 21 with borderline the exact same "explanation".]]
* TheCape: Flat out the most heroic of the Royal Knights, considering his desire is to save everyone from Cobaldramon and the D-Reaper.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Chapter 15 as a whole demonstrates more or less everything you need to know about him from his backstory to who he is now.
* IOweYouMyLife: To Kazu; the Royal Knights seemingly abandoned him after the incident with Cobaldramon and the D-Reaper, for reasons currently unknown even to this day.
* JapanesePoliteness: Part of his EstablishingCharacterMoment, also doubles as demonstrating the fact he's from the Japanese servers of the Digital World.
* NoodleIncident: What exactly happened that wound to him being buried in the ground as Hagurumon in the aftermath of his fight with the D-Reaper and Cobaldramon.
* ShoutOut: [[VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft "I, Craniummon, will save us!"]]
* YesMan: Seems to have become this for Kazu, though he didn't start off as this.

!! Kenta Kitagawa

* DistaffCounterpart: In regards to his own gender and partner Digimon, he and [=MarineAngemon=] are basically Jeri and Impmon having gone under a GenderFlip.
* OutOfFocus: Chapter 15 puts more emphasis on Kazu over him. In fact, his partner Digimon doesn't even appear in the same chapter as his own debut either.

!! [=RedOtamamon=] > Depthmon > Mermaimon > [=MarineAngemon=] > [=AncientMermaimon=]

* AdaptationalBadass: Digivolves into one of the members of the Ten Legendary Warriors as an Ultra Level form.
* GenderFlip: Was more AmbiguousGender in the original, characterized as female here. {{Justified}} due to Mermaimon and [=AncientMermaimon=] being obviously female based designs.
* TheGiant: Hypnos had measured [=AncientMermaimon=]'s tail as being the same size as the largest blue whale specimen, at 85 feet exactly. Little do they know that this specific [=AncientMermaimon=] is the same individual they had measured ages ago, mainly because Digimon when Realized require a lot of energy to sustain their overall size, so they instead typically opt for smaller forms in general.
* MythologyGag: Depthmon first appeared in a NonSerialMovie for ''Tamers'' as an antagonist, and was also originally planned to appear in ''02'' as an Armor Digivolution of Veemon with the [=DigiEgg=] of Reliability. Here, Depthmon is [=MarineAngemon=]'s Champion Level form.
* ShownTheirWork: According to Wikimon, all of the forms seen for [=MarineAngemon=] here and in the order they digivolve from can in fact come from or go into the specific forms chosen here in at least one of the many branches introduced in the franchise as a whole.

* ButtMonkey: If being a Champion that loses to a Rookie isn't enough, [[spoiler:Grandis]] making an even bigger mockery of him surely is.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: [[spoiler:He doesn't like the fact Ruki's mother has a suitor who talks so sleazily as he does.]]
* ShoutOut: His weak strength overall reflects the fact he's one of the tutorial enemies in ''Digimon World Dusk''.

!! [=IceDevimon=][[spoiler:/Michael]]

* AscendedMeme: His MemeticMolester status from the canon is played up ''big time'' here.
-->"Now, now, my dear; [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything be a lovely beauty for me, as I'll be your beast.]]"
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler:After having kidnapped Ruki's mother and grandmother and forced her away from her own home, out with the intent of getting her to come to Besiege, Besiege sends him on a fatal mission to plant the seeds for Ruki's examination, by having Michael be the fall guy he needs to complete the next step of his plan. In other words, after having sexually assaulted Ruki and having forcefully kissed her to give her some odd item orally, she winds up shooting him dead in self defense, with Michael dying uncertain if he completed his mission or not.]]
* TheCameo: He hasn't appeared directly, but Ruki's NightmareSequence has him cameo [[spoiler:while having a mix match of Ruki's mother's face and Taomon's face.]]
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything:
** See AscendedMeme above.
* FairyTaleMotifs: From his EstablishingCharacterMoment, ''Literature/BeautyAndTheBeast''; he views himself as the titular beast, and he views Ruki as the "beauty" whom he desires so much to court into his grasp.

!! Parasimon

* EyeScream: While not without justification since Parasimon's eyes are it's most noteworthy attribute, everyone kind of has an unhealthy obsession with stabbing them in the eye ''specifically'' to terminate them. One particular Parasimon apparently was so unlucky that it decided to use itself as a living lock on a door which only a Mega Level could unlock. Apparently the Ouryuken will always unlock it no matter who is currently wielding it, again, justified, since the Ouryuken's true form is a Mega Level Digimon itself.

!! The 1001

* AchievementsInIgnorance: They have not a clue as to what digivolution even remotely ''is'' and yet the oldest sibling is the Ultimate Level [=MetalGreymon=].
* ActionDad: [[spoiler:A [=VictoryGreymon=] is eventually revealed to be the dad of the trio.]]
* BadassFamily: An Agumon, Greymon, and [=MetalGreymon=] all capable of fighting on their own right.
* BetterAsFriends: [[spoiler:Despite having had three children together, [=VictoryGreymon=] and Flare decided that their relationship was better this way once [=VictoryGreymon=] realized just how much of a better suitor Tempest was for Flare any day of the week.]]
* BookDumb: All three are a bunch of idiots. As Grandis describes the trio:
-->"Y'all are ''crazy''!"
* ContinuityNod: [[spoiler:They're all Flare's family members, which more or less explains Flare's IdiotHero tendencies very easily.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: [=MetalGreymon=] is very specifically described as being purple with no stripes, which means the narrative is describing particular one as the Virus [=MetalGreymon=] that appeared prior to the more famous Vaccine [=MetalGreymon=].
* ExactWords: Meta-wise, about how ''Digimon Re: Tamers'' is [[InconsistentDub using terminology from both the original and Dub]]; it was never specifically referring to the English Dub alone for the references, which leads to the appearance of this family of Greymon Digimon based off of the Arabian Dub.
* HeroAntagonist: They're not even actual villains, just rather brutish intruders in the real world who are too careless of the damages they cause.
* HopelessSuitor: [[spoiler:[=VictoryGreymon=] knows that Tempest ends up being a far better suitor towards Flare any day, considering Tempest is able to give Flare everything that [=VictoryGreymon=] cannot.]]
* MissingMom: None of the three seem to have a clue who their mother is. [[spoiler:Their dad, a [=VictoryGreymon=], seems to know that his sons' mother is none other than Flare.]]
* MythologyGag: ''Bucket loads'' to the Arabian Dub of ''Digimon Adventure''.
* {{Teleportation}}: How each of the later form siblings are introduced. Impmon has a field day with the snark with these guys.
-->Impmon: ''*towards Greymon*'' Eh? What do you mean you're Agumon's brother? Quit hiding it, you're just the same mon having digivolved!
-->Impmon as Devimon: ''*later, towards [=MetalGreymon=]*'' Okay not you're not even trying to hide the fact you guys are cheating behind some teleportation device! You aren't even the same attribute as your weaker siblings!
-->Devimon[[spoiler: as [=NeoDevimon=]]]: ''*much later, towards [[spoiler:[=VictoryGreymon=]]]*'' So what's the deal? A bunch of tamerless Greymon associates banding together because wild Digimon only digivolve as slow as molasses? I think your dad's sword here speaks for itself with the overcompensation going on.
* WarmUpBoss: Jeri's first actual solo mission is to deal with these three.

!! VIP Club Digimon

* TheCameo: What their entire point is unless they become [[AscendedExtra Ascended Extras]].
* MythologyGag: Many of them are recruit or PaletteSwap Digimon from ''Digimon World''.
* NiceGuy: How all of them seem to behave, even Digitamamon.
* OneHitKill: Pteramon's Beak Pierce technique, which allows it to pierce through any armor and score a direct KO against an opponent's digicore. [[spoiler:Thankfully it's heavily flawed when used on DNA Digivolved mons such as Raiga.]]

!! Angewomon

* AlphaBitch: Rather nasty to try and talk with, even more so than Raiga. Apparently she was originally a [=LadyDevimon=] having underwent Death Digivolution into her current Angewomon form.
* BigBreastPride: Not outright stated, but her attempts to boast to Taomon seem to suggest this considering Taomon is as flat as a board, whereas BuxomBeautyStandard is pretty much default in every Angewomon known in ''Digimon'' media.
* DesignatedGirlFight: {{Invoked}}; [[spoiler:while Ruki was being [[MindRape Mind Raped]] by Enigma, she declared ItsPersonal on Angewomon and several of her other enemies, to the point Ruki and Taomon are the only ones capable of harming or even ''detecting'' Angewomon or these other Digimon.]]
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Her constant attempts to boast when compared to Taomon seems like she's referring to [[BuxomBeautyStandard something else entirely]].
* OutsideContextProblem: A Holy Digimon as an antagonist for Ruki and Taomon to deal with.
* SuperPoweredEvilSide: {{Inverted}}; her true form was [=LadyDevimon=], but she ends up Death Digivolving into Angewomon because of how she almost perishes to Juggernaut entering the real world.
* YourMindMakesItReal: [[spoiler:Due to how Ruki worded things about Angewomon and several other Digimon Ruki was personally troubled by, Enigma's MindRape of Ruki during said point altered Angewomon's entirely properties to make her completely unable to be hurt by or even ''detected'' by any other character than Ruki and Taomon.]]

!! Leomon (X) > [=IceLeomon X=] > [[spoiler:Duftmon X]]

* AnIcePerson: Ultimate Level X.
* AdaptationalVillainy: For the species as a whole, yes. For the individual seen in ''Tamers'', [[DefiedTrope no]].
* AdaptedOut: The Leomon from the canon series doesn't exist in this one, and this individual is an OC altogether who not only has no relation to the canon Leomon from ''Tamers'', not only is he not even Jeri's partner here, but also the fact [[spoiler:he winds up becoming Royal Knight Duftmon in the form of Duftmon X, as the previous Royal Knight Duftmon was killed off.]]
* BestialityIsDepraved: Whereas [=IceDevimon=] [[spoiler:actually lacks an actual romantic attraction to Ruki]], [=IceLeomon X=] meanwhile is full on horn dog for Jeri. Impmon naturally doesn't tolerate this fact at all.
* CompleteImmortality: [[spoiler:His Digicore defies the stereotype associated with his species by making it so that absolutely nothing can cause him to die of natural causes or kill him. Nobody understands what exactly Leomon did to cause this, but he's effectively immune to damage of any kind in addition to being incapable of being slain.]]
* DirtyOldMan: If you wanna get technical about it he's this.
* DefiedTrope: The Leomon from the canon ''Tamers'' series does not exist here, meaning this Leomon doesn't fall under AdaptationalVillainy because he's strictly an OC of the same species. He does, however, fall under this trope compared to his species only slightly, due to being more of an AntiHero rather than an IdealHero that the canon tends to portray Leomon's entire species as. The biggest one, however, has to be the fact that [[spoiler:not only does this Leomon never die, but he never will die at any point due to having CompleteImmortality.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He first shows up as a drunken asshat who misbehaves and gets into quite a tough fight against Flare and Tempest, who have both purposefully degenerated to Ultimate for this particular encounter, trying to engage the duo in a fight for seemingly idiotic reasons that only his CompleteImmortality could justify his desire for battle against vastly superior foes.
* {{Expy}}: [[spoiler:Of [[Myth/NorseMythology Baldr]].]]
* {{Foreshadowing}}: He mentions his brother is a Zudomon, and his father a Vikemon, and he showcases an astonishing case of CompleteImmortality. [[spoiler:Anybody who has done their homework on Norse Mythology will realize he's meant to represent Baldr.]]
* NoOneCouldSurviveThat: [[spoiler:Gets hit point blank through the chest from [=NeoDevimon's=] Guilty Claw, much like how Beelzemon killed Leomon in the canon series, but only pretends to be hurt as otherwise the attack did absolutely nothing to him.]]
--> [[spoiler:[[WhamLine "Can't you kids ever get it through your thick skulls? I said I'm immortal."]]]]
* PaletteSwap: {{Averted}}; the entire reason for using the [=X-Antibody=] version of [=IceLeomon=] is to prevent this trope from happening for this MonsterOfTheWeek, considering [=IceLeomon X=] looks ''nothing'' like regular Leomon in terms of appearance. Since it also differs from Leomon X itself, it doesn't even qualify as a PaletteSwap for that either.
* {{Retcon}}: {{Discussed}} by Jeri towards [=IceLeomon X=] as to whether or not [=IceLeomon X=] is Champion Level like how it was originally in ''Digimon World'', as in later appearances of [=IceLeomon=] it's known as an Ultimate Level.

!! Locomon > [=GrandLocomon=]

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler:As it digivolves into [=GrandLocomon=], its newfound form rips apart the rails it's traveling on, causing it to chaotically go off course and crash into a tunnel inside of a mountain.]]

!! [=MetalEtemon=] (''Digimon Re: Tamers'')

* TheEngineer: He's identified as such before being seen.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Locomon refers to [=MetalEtemon=] as "Boss Monkey", which would normally be assumed to be a ShoutOut to ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'', but it turns out Locomon's then unidentified engineer is indeed a monkey in the form of [=MetalEtemon=].
* HiddenDepths: His accent is meant to make him sound like a complete idiot, but yet at the same time he appears smart enough to be left in charge of Locomon with his crew. [[spoiler:Let alone be trusted with transporting an [[ArtifactOfDoom Ultra Card]].]]
* NighInvulnerable: WordOfGod confirms in the author's note of his own debut chapter that he survived the explosion of the mountain on top of him.
* OlympusMons: The "[[RedBaron King of Digimon]]".
* RedBaron: "King of Digimon"
* TheUnfought: [[spoiler:He's disposed of by [=NeoDevimon=] tossing the overloading Ultra Card across the room, causing Locomon to become destabilized in which [=MetalEtemon=] is taken out by an explosion as Locomon crashes into a mountain and explodes. Despite this, [=MetalEtemon=] survives but is heavily dazed by the end of it.]]
* WhamLine: [[spoiler:Refers to the mysterious cargo as the "[[Characters/CitadelOfTheHeartNecrozma Death Black Prism]]".]]
* WhatTheHellIsThatAccent: In the author's note as well as all across Chapter 10 itself, nobody can identify the absurd accent he has, and even [[WordOfGod the author admits]] nobody, not even himself, is supposed to make sense of [=MetalEtemon=]'s accent.

!! Strabimon > Lobomon > [=KendoGarurumon=] > Beowulfmon > [=AncientGarurumon=]

* AdaptationalBadass: [=KendoGarurumon=] and Beowulfmon are considered Ultimate and Mega Level respectively in ''Digimon Re: Tamers'', as opposed to their original evolutionary levels of Champion and Ultimate Level they're normally classified as.
* CanonForeigner: His species and his evolution line were introduced in the franchise after ''Tamers'' was over, and most of the forms in question were used in ''Anime/DigimonFrontier''. Strabimon was not outright used in said series, and [=AncientGarurumon=] was only given a brief cameo in an OVA.
* CatchPhrase: Any sort of line involving "Magnificent" or variants thereof.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:His older brother was murdered in a warring faction involving three generals consisting of a [=WarGrowlmon=], Rapidmon, and Taomon. He acknowledges that the three of the same species he sees under the command of the protagonists are different individuals, but he still has a negative viewpoint of their whole species due to the merciless BloodKnight versions of those three who took everything from him.]]
* {{Expy}}: He's one of [[spoiler:Canon Impmon]], due to the fact that [[spoiler:Strabimon actually does have a tamer, but is first otherwise depicted as a seemingly stray Digimon.]]
* {{Foreshadowing}}: He addresses a [[spoiler:white with black spots Holland lop]] seen in Chapter 18 as [[spoiler:[[Characters/CitadelOfTheHeartTheUltimorianDeities Rose]]]] to see if it'll react to him referring to it as such. [[SmashCut It cuts to the next scene before any response to this prompt is given.]]
* {{Retcon}}: A lot of tropes listed here previously had to be nixed once it was decided to include a certain character from the canon and [[spoiler:have said character be Strabimon's tamer, thus necessitating an entire evolution line.]]

A strangely dressed men with a mask partnered with an [=UlforceVeedramon X=]. [[spoiler:Cloned to life using Enric's DNA to serve as the "Teenage Rebels" of the mafia to keep the VIP Club off of the backs of the adults. Alongside two other clones, who themselves were cloned from Enric's higher ups, the three were infused with a [=DigiMemory=] that would forcefully rig their Partner Digimon to be of a specific type of Digimon that benefits them, primarily giving all three of them Mega Level Digimon. Having an immense crush on Jeri Katou after having heard Mr. Katou mention his daughter aloud to the Teenage Rebels without realizing Kamny's intrigue, Enric casually states that Kamny can have Mr. Katou's daughter to himself if it means keeping his obedience in check, something that causes Mr. Katou to be put at edge with himself, and Enric and Besiege.]]

* AbhorrentAdmirer: He doesn't look all that bad, but considering he's a murderous {{Yandere}} with his intents of stealing Jeri away from Takato...
* AdaptationalBadass: [[spoiler:His partner is an unknown Veemon vaguely implied to be a Davis' Veemon, considering the fact it eventually wound up surviving the X-Program and mutating into [=UlforceVeedramon X=].]]
* AdaptationalDumbass: {{Deconstructed}} [[spoiler:Due to [=UlforceVeedramon X=]'s BrainwashedAndCrazy nature, he's reduced to an idiotic individual no different from a wild animal.]]
* AdaptationalVillainy:
** [[spoiler:Not that Veemon can help it, considering Kamny has reduced him to a BrainwashedAndCrazy state so severe that he's become entirely primitive in mentality because of it.]]
** PlayedStraight regarding Kamny himself, who is basically a typical Dakari-King Mykan AuthorAvatar with the ProtagonistCenteredMorality revoked.
* AffectionateNickname: Sugar-J for Jeri.
* AttentionWhore: The only thing bigger than his lack of intelligence is his hubris and constant desire to be bathed in attention.
* AxCrazy: It's very hard to tell whether he's serious about everything or an insane lunatic because of his GigglingVillain nature, especially considering much of the time he's otherwise TheStoic.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Silly as he may be on the surface, he's still got complete control over one of the stronger Mega Level Digimon, specifically [=UlforceVeedramon X=].
* ButtMonkey: Despite having an [=UlforceVeedramon X=], it's actually rather easy to take him out of the picture, primarily because he's too inept to properly order his [=UlforceVeedramon X=] to perform the most vital of combat functions, leading to him constantly having to resurrect it at a later point.
* DealWithTheDevil: [[spoiler:Kamny made a deal with Darigus to forever spite his enemies with his continued existence, and Darigus needless to say granted his wish if merely because Kamny had no idea what he was deliberately asking for.]]
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Of {{Flat Character}}s. [[spoiler:His usage of [=UlforceVeedramon X=] effectively robs him of any free will, and his desire to keep everything down to a single trait to prevent hindrances in combat results in [=UlforceVeedramon X=] being reduced to a mindless animal. What Kamny fails to grasp is that he himself is ''not'' a FlatCharacter in the same vein; he's actually got larger shades of a personality, being an AxCrazy {{Yandere}} [[TheUnfettered who will do whatever it takes]] to win Jeri's affections, and is treated as such by others as a HateSink for how sexist he treats the idea of winning over Jeri as if she were a trophy.]]
* DirtyCoward: Will quickly leave the fight when it's clear his [=UlforceVeedramon X=] is outgunned, often ditching his Digimon in the process because [[DeathIsCheap he has means of reviving him easily.]]
* EntitledToHaveYou: Towards Jeri.
* {{Expy}}:
** Of [[WesternAnimation/BeastWars Tarantulas, Waspinator, and Quickstrike]].
** Also of fellow ''Digimon'' OriginalCharacter Chris, as detailed below.
* GigglingVillain[=/=]TheHyena: When he's amused by something, he has incredibly rough time stopping with giggling even when his life would depend on him needing to stop. [[spoiler:This actually bites him later on when he gets a bullet wound to the leg from Ruki because of it.]]
* HateSink: Considering he's a petty bastard who will do literally anything to steal Jeri away from Takato and all for himself, even forcing Jeri into situations with him, stalking her and observing her every move, [[spoiler:flat out attempting to murder Takato straight out at several points, being a ''sick creep'' by taking photographs of Jeri's panties and blackmailing her with them, and even inflicts ColdBloodedTorture on an [=UlforceVeedramon X=] by [[BrainwashedAndCrazy brainwashing him]] into effectively a mindless slave.]]
* IfICantHaveYou: Threatens Takato with his own ultimatum in that if Takato keeps interfering with his intent to steal Jeri away from him, Kamny will murder Jeri in response.
* LoveMakesYouCrazy: He's got an unrequited crush on Jeri, and is very violent towards Takato about having Jeri's affections.
* PerverseSexualLust: Towards Jeri.
* {{Pride}}: He's a very arrogant fool.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Constantly boasts about being a "warrior" over any other human he has the chance to brag about it to.
* PsychopathicManchild: Very much a spoiled brat who is a SoreLoser when he doesn't get his way with things.
* ScarpiaUltimatum: How he threatens Jeri; either be his girl or he posts photographs he took of her undergarments online. When Takato catches on to Kamny's antics, Kamny gives Takato [[IfICantHaveYou his own different ultimatum.]]
* ShoutOut:
** Virtually every aspect of his characterization except for a few noteworthy cases can be directly seen in some of Creator/DakariKingMykan's own characters, such as his ProudWarriorRaceGuy tendencies, his PerverseSexualLust towards his ImpliedLoveInterest and having a very big EntitledToHaveYou vibe to him, and also his sexist StayInTheKitchen vibes regarding the female characters.
** He has a variety of different ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' character's {{Verbal Tic}}s, such as Tarantulas' GigglingVillain, Waspinator's buzzing in the form of a lisp, and Quickstrike's DeepSouth accent and personality.
* SignificantAnagram: [[spoiler:[[Creator/DakariKingMykan Mykan]].]]
* SingleTargetSexuality: He doesn't make any remarks regarding other female characters that implies attraction to them, although he will [[AtLeastIAdmitIt at least admit]] that despite some in particular being a MsFanservice, he doesn't like them at all when compared to Jeri.
* SssssnakeTalk: His dialogue is spelled with him having a lisp in mind.
* StalkerWithACrush: Stalks Jeri to observe her every move and to try and figure out how to best steal her affections from Takato.
* StayInTheKitchen: What he ultimately views of Jeri's role in life when she's not around for him to admit this point.
* TheStoic[=/=]SoftSpokenSadist: Despite the inspiration for his character, he's very calm and quiet as one would expect from a genuine sociopath, and definitely manages to convincingly [[FauxAffablyEvil fake politeness]] at that.
* TakeThat: If it isn't obvious by this point, he's based off of the stereotypical Creator/DakariKingMykan AuthorAvatar, so parts of his characterization could either be interpreted as an unflattering caricature of Mykan himself, or a chimeric fusion of all of the worst traits of his various {{Original Character}}s he's infamous for.
* TheWorfEffect:
** [[spoiler:[=UlforceVeedramon X=] is '''literally''' disarmed as to prove just how utterly ''dangerous'' Vungareimon is, even for a Champion Level. This quickly proves to Kamny cowering while Enric realizes that his Sin of Gluttony has been absorbed by Jeri's Impmon.]]
** [[spoiler:Unlike Enric's other recruits who all were killed off by Mega Level Digimon, Kamny and [=UlforceVeedramon X=] are killed off by a Champion Level in the form of Shisamon. How? Shisamon absorbs a direct hit from Shining V Force [[Film/GodzillaVSMechagodzilla into his left eye, then fires the beam out of his right eye]] at tenfold power, and instantly dusts [=UlforceVeedramon X=] and Kamny in a single shot before either of the two even get the chance to have last words.]]
* {{Yandere}}: He genuinely has affection for Jeri, including several creep factors to his being that makes it far too unhealthy of an obsession with her to even remotely call her a mere crush.

!! "02" [[spoiler:"Spontaneous Armageddemon"]]

* LoopholeAbuse: [[spoiler:Enigma bypassed Juggernaut by spawning a [=Digiegg=] for Kuramon directly in the real world, used the power of its own inherent Digi-Entelechy to spontaneously give it enough energy to instantly Warp Digivolve into its Ultra Level Armageddemon form.]]
* OlympusMons: An Ultra Level Digimon [[spoiler:that was forcefully spawned into the real world by Enigma and hidden from detection from the Mega Radar simultaneously.]]
* RedHerring: A drawing created by Jiang-yu implies he created it. [[spoiler:The actual Digimon he "created" is Paratidreamon, which looks more closer to the description of the drawing than Armageddemon does.]]

!! Calumon[[spoiler:/Enigma]]

* AdaptationalBadass: For Calumon's species as a whole, yes, this is the case. For the individual Calumon from ''Tamers'', then this is not the case, because this particular Calumon is not intended to be the same individual from the canon ''Tamers'' series.
* AdaptationalVillainy: {{Defied}}; this isn't meant to be the same Calumon from the canon ''Digimon Tamers'' series, but rather an OC from the same species.
* AdaptedOut:
** Like with Leomon, the canon Calumon as a character is AdaptedOut, and in its place is an OC of the same species.
** [[spoiler:Since digivolution in ''Digimon Re: Tamers'' isn't exclusively tied to Calumon like it was in the canon, the Calumon from the original doesn't appear. That being said, this particular OC Calumon appears due to it serving as the direct avatar of Enigma, and is still capable of causing spontaneous digivolution to Mega Level or beyond on a mass scale via it's Digi-Entelechy.]]
* AllJustADream[=/=]OrWasItADream:
** [[spoiler:Chapter 16B reveals that some of the events of Chapters 16 were actually fabricated by Enigma to actually happen, with some of them merely having been an innocent simulation performed by Jiang-yu on Grandis. Enigma's ability to influence Jiang-yu's mind caused for the lesser evils of the simulation to become a reality, with Henry and Ryo having been used as pawns by Enigma in the process. In the light of the results, none of the Partner Digimon are behaving anyway they would normally act, and Terriermon, Guilmon, and Renamon have all gone rogue for reasons unknown. In addition to this, Enigma's twisting of reality has kick started Impmon's transition from his Devimon and [=NeoDevimon=] forms to inevitably be completely replaced by Vungareimon and Barbarymon respectively.]]
* AmbiguousGender: Its gender isn't stated and it's often quite vague as to what little hints exist deliberately contradicting each other.
* AmbiguouslyBi: Its comments about attractive individuals apply to people or Digimon of just about every gender.
* BeyondTheImpossible: [[spoiler:Its reality warping abilities can affect Ultimorian Deities, which is why Grandis is on edge when Henry requests entry to the then off-limits VIP Club so that Grandis can rally everyone together to meet Enigma personally.]]
* {{Expy}}: [[spoiler:Of the Phantom Ruby.]]
* HatePlague: [[spoiler:What little we see it actually do so far creates this effect.]]
* MindRape: What it can do to some individuals who draw too close to it for their own good. [[spoiler:Unfortunately it comes at the price of being potentially manipulated by said individuals for their own gain, since Enigma's willpower is incredibly weak.]]
* RealityWarper:
** An extremely potent user of a dangerous Digicore capable of bending space and time to its will. It has previously showcased the ability to spontaneously induce mass scale Warp Evolution to Mega Level or above on random Digimon, and had actually created a Digimon from scratch as a [=DigiEgg=] which reached Mega Level in record timing because its inherent abilities. [[spoiler:It also did the exact same thing with an Armageddemon ''and'' also used its RealityWarper abilities to prevent the Mega Radar from going off upon said Digimon's digivolution to Ultra.]]
* SuperEmpowering:
** [[spoiler:Can cause entire swarms of even the lowest leveled Digimon to spontaneously Warp Digivolve to Mega Level or beyond, which is precisely how the VIP Club Digimon were able to do just that in Chapter 10. It also did this twice to two specific individual Digimon entirely on purpose. One of them that appeared first, an OC species called Enigmariamon, which was intended to draw attention away from Enigma itself and keep Enigma out of detection for a brief period of time, and was Warp Digivolved from a Rookie OC Digimon from the same digivolution tree as it. The second being an Armageddemon, which Enigma intended as a prototype to perfect the species' raw power into what would later be revived as X.T.C.. In doing so, it managed to bypass detection from both Juggernaut from within the Digital World and the Mega Radar in the real world, as it was created in the latter as a [=Digiegg=] and then immediately given the power to Warp Digivolve from Kuramon to Armageddemon in an instant.]]
** [[spoiler:Strabimon uses it to allow himself to be a stronger opponent than any mere Rookie alone could ever achieve on their own.]]
* UncannyValleyGirl: AmbiguousGender not withstanding, [[spoiler:Calumon is normally associated as being a cutesy Digimon. What prevents this particular Calumon from falling under HairRaisingHare right away is the fact it ''stays'' cutesy even when you consider what vile acts it has committed in hiding under its better known name of Enigma.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: Perhaps the biggest of them all as far as ''Re: Tamers'' is concerned, considering despite everything that has happened over the course of the first 20 chapters, [[spoiler:[[WhamLine not even Calumon claiming to be Enigma is meant to be depicted as though a physical appearance of Enigma proper...]]]]
* WhamLine: "Hello everyone, my name is [[spoiler:Enigma]]. I am a Calumon!"
* YourMindMakesItReal: An unfortunate consequence of its weak willpower on its own is that whenever it [[MindRape Mind Rapes]] an individual, [[spoiler:said individual has a degree of control over Enigma at the same time, meaning whatever they think is happening because of Enigma is forcefully made into reality because of Enigma's RealityWarper abilities being under the influence of the MindRape victim. This is ''exactly'' how Guilmon is brought into existence in ''Digimon Re: Tamers''.]]

!! Rumoreimon -> Illusioridamon -> Tetranomimon -> Enigmariamon

* AllJustADream[=/=]OrWasItADream:
** [[spoiler:Enigmariamon later turns out to be just yet another fever dream creation of it and not Enigma itself, leading one to wonder just how many Digimon Enigma personally created. Hypnos apparently has an answer, and it's not pretty.]]
---> [[spoiler:"9 identified entities, and that number continues to rise the more of these creations of it tends to rise. This year has been the peak of Enigma's activity, and I fear if Enigma is not put to a stop soon, that Enigma's creations will overwhelm all worlds simultaneously."]]
* FemaleMonsterSurprise: [[spoiler:Once it's outed as the [=DigiCore=] of a Digimon called Enigmariamon, it's quickly revealed Enigma is female the whole time because of Enigmariamon's NonMammalianMammaries.]]
* HatePlague: What little we see it actually do so far creates this effect.
* HiddenAgendaVillain: No actual goal or motivation, or even what it's trying to do, is known just yet. [[spoiler:Its mere presence alone, however, is enough to throw Cyberdramon and Rapidmon into a blind rage.]]
* InnocuouslyImportantEpisode: [[spoiler:The fact Enigmariamon is introduced in such an anti-climatic matter should be the first warning sign that Enigma is not what it actually appears to be from that particular individual Digimon alone...]]
* NonMaliciousMonster: [[spoiler:It's an AnimateInanimateObject given life, and even though it's a living rendition of Megidramon's [=DigiCore=], it lacks an actual mind and will of its own other than ''very'' basal self-defense tactics and only a small form of control over its own actions.]]
* NonMammalianMammaries: {{Invoked}}. [[spoiler:Because Enigma decides to give itself a body based on its own image and [[BuxomBeautyStandard Angewomon]], it ends up giving itself breasts in its newly created body because it didn't quite register exactly what Angewomon has going for her, and thus has no idea a fish creature should actually not have these at all.]]
* PowerFloats
* PunnyName: [[spoiler:Enig'''[[FemaleMonsterSurprise maria]]'''mon.]]
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: {{Justified}} that it's supposed to be [[spoiler:Megidramon]]'s [=DigiCore=] and Digital Hazard separated from its body.
* RedHerring: [[spoiler:Chapter 21 completely exposes Enigma out in the open; it's not Enigmariamon, but rather a Calumon.]]

!! [[spoiler:Tachikawa Mimi (''Digimon Re: Tamers'')]]

* DemotedToExtra: Her role in ''Digimon Re: Tamers'', though not without good reason.
* MistakenIdentity: [[spoiler:Gets mistaken for the Mimi from ''Digimon Re: Adventure'' by Ryo. Not only does this Mimi have zero knowledge as to who Ryo is other than a stranger who somehow knows her name, but she's by no means the same Chosen she was in ''Re: Adventure''; her she's just another HappilyMarried wife to someone special with a baby on the way.]]
* NotAsYouKnowThem: {{Invoked}} InUniverse; [[spoiler:Ryo ''thinks'' she's the same Mimi he knows from ''Digimon Re: Adventure'', having managed to come across space and time to appear here, but rather she's just another incarnation of Mimi who simply happens to be an ordinary civilian. Grandis has to talk to Ryo personally to inform him that had she been the actual Mimi, she wouldn't have ran off calling him a creep as if Ryo was a complete stranger to her.]]
* PregnantBadass: When she thinks Ryo is a creepy stalker, she heads off to avoid him while moving as fast as she can considering her pregnancy. Though considering Ryo doesn't bother much to chase after her, she does move at an alarming speed regardless.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Is effectively a background character given a name in the grand scheme of things [[spoiler:had it not been for the fact she's the ''Digimon Re: Tamer''[='s=] incarnation of Mimi from ''Digimon Re: Adventure'' as an ordinary civilian rather than a lead protagonist. She exists solely to trigger Ryo's old memories of his past living in the same verse as the ''Digimon Re: Adventure'' cast, so naturally seeing an alternate incarnation of someone he once knew is a big thing to him.]]
* ThoroughlyMistakenIdentity: Despite [[spoiler:having Mimi's name and appearance]], Ryo thinks she is someone he knows personally, but it terms out that this [[spoiler:is by no means the same Mimi he knew; this version of her he sees]] is just an ordinary young woman on a walk expecting a child.

!! The [=D-Reaper=]

* AchillesPowerCord: [[spoiler:Lady Raiga's All Delete doesn't even need to target a vital function on the D-Reaper to score an instant kill; this entire trope that all of the D-Reaper agents suffer from is all that is needed for Lady Raiga to execute the entire entity in a single strike. In other words, Lady Raiga could just as easily target a weaker agent with it's cord fully intact with All Delete, and literally '''''every other piece of the D-Reaper is instantly vaporized in the process'''''.]]
* AdaptationalBadass:
** [[spoiler:{{Desconstructed}}: While true in that it does gain the ability to absorb biological materials from the start, it's doing so in a heavily panicking state; Cobaldramon is literally just minutes from confronting it and eating its core alive, so it's behaving more desperately as to acquire enough power to defend itself; it doesn't work.]]
** [[spoiler:While that's not even getting into whether or not the D-Reaper had it's power scaled up based on heavy, deliberate exaggeration of it's bios, it ultimately proves to not be enough, as while the D-Reaper still manages to be a threatening force, the tradeoff is simple as elaborated on more in-depth below; it ultimately falls victim to the LaterInstallmentWeirdness PowerCreep, at the hands of a Digimon it never even encountered directly in canon material because said Digimon didn't even exist yet.]]
* AdaptationalWimp:
** By virtue of massive PowerCreep the franchise had experienced shortly after ''Tamers'' with the debut of the X-Antibody and the likes of Omegamon X coming into existence. [[spoiler:Even assuming the D-Reaper's power got exaggerated like everyone else's power, so did Omegamon X's power as shown with it's demise at Lady Raiga's hand with All Delete, wiping out the entirety of the D-Reaper and leaving '''absolutely nothing''' in the wake of her strike.]]
** To add insult to injury, [[spoiler:Lady Raiga as regular ordinary Omegamon is already more than sufficient to vaporize entire chunks of it using her Garuru Cannon move alone, and whenever Lady Raiga shields herself with her cape, she doesn't even take the tiniest bit of damage from the D-Reaper and unleashes a wave of divinity aura to subdue the whole D-Reaper in the process.]]
* AlmightyIdiot: What best describes this incarnation of the D-Reaper at its most basal definition.
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler:An alternate incarnation of Takato anyways, but Takato nevertheless.]]
* TheBrute: What ultimately becomes the "stronger" D-Reaper agents is that due to the D-Reaper's primitive mind, no matter how strong it's {{Mooks}} become, be them this or [[GiantMook Giant Mooks]], they ultimately become TheBrute because their mental prowess stay stagnant completely despite all of their other advantages they would otherwise acquire for themselves.
* TheChewToy: The author admits had it not been for some form of catharsis coming along with beating the ever-loving shit out of the D-Reaper, he wouldn't had bothered to even include the D-Reaper in the story to begin with.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: In the canon, the D-Reaper was effectively an InvincibleVillain who wasn't able to be defeated until Gallantmon Crimson Mode was able to be used to stop it, and the fact Digimon who play the GrewBeyondTheirProgramming trope straight were rendered easy victims of the D-Reaper. Here, on the other hand, the D-Reaper fails to function as a major threat because its {{Aversion}} of growing beyond its programming is transformed into a ''weakness'' rather than an advantage; [[spoiler:Ultra Level Digimon make a complete and utter joke of the D-Reaper here, since because the D-Reaper as shown here is nothing more than a giant amoeba, it's too basal in nature to harm [[UltimateLifeform Ultra Level Digimon]] at all.
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Of its original self in the canon. Due to the D-Reaper refusing to truly advance beyond its original programming, any and all advancements it has made in the canon series ultimately mean nothing here; the more powerful mooks introduced in the canon are considered just as weak, if not ''weaker'', than the weakest of the D-Reaper's agents seen both in the canon and here as well.
* DiscardAndDraw: [[spoiler:Its ability to assimilate biological materials earlier cost it the ability to use its various agents, giving it just enough time to expand to a size that even Cobaldramon wouldn't immediately be able to consume in one go, but also having nothing defending its core unit from Cobaldramon's impending wrath.]]
* FreakyFridayFlip: [[spoiler:The actual reason for its ineptitude in ''Re: Tamers'' is because Millenniumon in another timeline caused the D-Reaper and an alternate Takato to switch bodies permanently, resulting in the creation of "Takato Red", whereas the actual reason for the AdaptationalWimp of the D-Reaper seen here is because [[WhamLine it's actually Takato]] [[AndIMustScream stuck in the D-Reaper's body.]]]]
* LoopholeAbuse: [[spoiler:The D-Reaper survives Lady Raiga's wrath only because of the fact it's kernel sphere was still stuck inside of Cobaldramon's gut, meaning the fact everyone deems Cobaldramon to valuable to kill off is the entire reason the D-Reaper isn't 100% dead. Before they could extract the core, however, with the D-Reaper's mass that enveloped it no longer keeping Cobaldramon outside of water, Cobaldramon is able to rejuvenate and flee into the ocean, from which the D-Reaper's core is now still at large, but otherwise not in any more of a position to cause harm than it already was prior.]]
* MortonsFork: [[spoiler:Absorb biological materials earlier than normal but have no agents to defend you, or have the agents to defend you but no means of easily acquiring mass? It chose the latter but it would've have made a difference; Cobaldramon shows up in minutes flat and eats its core unit, and as we see latter when the various agents do finally show up, even if the likes of [=ADR-09=] was used, Cobaldramon's very ''teeth'' are made of Chrome Digizoid, so it would've pierced right through the barrier like tissue paper.]]
* VillainDecay:
** The narrative of ''Digimon Re: Tamers'' robs the advantages the D-Reaper had in the original series, because due to the more {{Reconstruction}} based narrative of ''Digimon Re: Tamers'', many of the D-Reaper's former victims in the canon series had exploited the D-Reaper's {{Aversion}} of the GrewBeyondTheirProgramming trope and weaponizes it against them. Effectively rendered a very colossal amoeba in this narrative sense, it is robbed of any of the complexity it even "had" from the original series because of the fact it would've had no choice but to grow beyond its programming to actually achieve said powers in the first place, thus making its aversion of said trope a complete AchillesHeel in this version. [[spoiler:{{Averted}} with Takato Red, although still somewhat PlayedStraight in that while Takato Red succeeds where his D-Reaper failed, his goals and motivation are highly modified due to the human mind he inhabits now.]]
** It gets worse when you realize how it's ultimately slain; [[spoiler:a combination of LaterInstallmentWeirdness and PowerCreep kicks in '''big time''' with Lady Raiga as Omegamon X being what slays it here, using nothing short of a single All Delete against no specific part of the D-Reaper, and virtually everything connected to whichever piece she struck is vaporized instantly.]]

* TheHedonist: [[spoiler:Combined with BecomingTheMask; when it first got trapped in Takato's body, it had to play the role of Takato to avoid giving itself away, and in the process of doing so, began to enjoy the pleasures that came with being human as a direct result.]]
* HumanityEnsues: {{Deconstructed}}; [[spoiler:he develops humanity, but considering the D-Reaper is an OmnicidalManiac in the original, its sense of developments as a human has it develop into a complete {{Sadist}}ic, {{Sociopath}}ic {{Hedonist}}.]]

Doubles as a MythologyGag since this is implied that [=ChaosGallantmon=] and Megidramon are both the exact same Digimon, just whomever gazes on it sees either a corrupted knight of a corrupted dragon.]]

!! Alice [=McCoy=]

* AllWomenAreLustful: When she was still in the physical plain, she apparently was notorious in the old days as being an extremely lustful girl to the point she eventually had a bad run with a suitor who ultimately killed her. [[spoiler:Or so that's what she wants you to think; in reality she had killed the suitor by accident when she tried to force herself out of the physical plain so that she could become ageless until the time was right to find her future host.]]
* EmotionlessGirl: She gives the impression, especially considering how blunt her questions are regarding any advances or offers she makes.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: When she's investigating her suitable candidates for a new body, she's prone to getting up very close to the point it's not unexpected for her to grope her targets.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: [[spoiler:She's not actually a ghost; just the disembodied other half to whoever is destined to be merged with her for real; a goal she has in mind for just about everyone but fails for the most part with finding out who this reborn person is that's missing her from their soul.]]
* VagueAge: She's not a hybrid of two HumanSubspecies like Chronicler is, and yet she's not only the exact same height but also 18 when she's first detailed about in the school's former resident students.

Ruki Makino's mysterious father, who more or less had a one-night stand with Rumiko that led to her becoming pregnant with Ruki, and then was never heard from or seen from again since then; Ruki never met him once growing up, well, that is, until the final days of her Bittersweet17 in which her attacks against TheMafia with the other tamers indirectly causes the two to cross paths, even if they don't recognize each other at first.

* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler:Literally had he not been Ruki's biological father it would be difficult to imagine him as even being her father in any sense of the definition otherwise.]]
* ActuallyADoombot: [[spoiler:[[SoftSpokenSadist His characterization in Chapter 14]] is more in line with who he's supposed to be, implying that the Besiege that appears in-person in Chapter 12 is only a decoy.]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: In the original he's just a divorced father who rarely sees Ruki anymore. Here he's a full-on villain who [[spoiler:has the plans to flat out rape Ruki once she turns 18, among other heinous deeds listed on this page putting him into a [[ProfessionalKiller Professional]] SerialKiller who has a ''huge'' {{Sadist}}ic streak, and a ComplexityAddition which involves toying with his daughter's mind into giving her a clueless mystery to give her false clues to lead her to believe he's an ally when in reality he's ''[[ArchnemesisDad anything but]]''.]]
* ArchnemesisDad: [[spoiler:He's more or less a father InNameOnly had it not been for the fact he's indeed Ruki's biological father.]]
* AuraVision: {{Implied}}, considering he's a BlindWeaponmaster underneath all of his MultilayerFacade he has going on even though he isn't even actually blind.
* BadassInANiceSuit: His wardrobe gives the impression of a SharpDressedMan version of Beelzemon's attire.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: How he approaches Ruki with his "gifts" is at first to seem like he's being held prisoner to Enric's masked henchman that had harmed Ruki and Heiko [[spoiler:and killed Rumiko]] and in doing so only places the seeds of manipulation into Ruki's behavior that follows next, all part of his plans of presenting her a CluelessMystery as to [[BreakTheCutie break her]] and leave her vulnerable to his further advances.
* BlindWeaponmaster: He's not ''actually'' blind, but his MultilayerFacade is so heavy that he trained himself to be able to fight specifically with the lack of any sight to help him, and focus all of his senses on detecting sound and movement.
* BloodLust: [[spoiler:His {{Sadism}} and SociopathicSolder tendencies often lead him to deliberately letting his targets die by bleeding out and just watching as it happens.]]
* CameBackStrong: [[spoiler:He had his left arm heavily injured and repaired with [=UlforceVeedramon's VNA=] which lead to Besiege acquiring the Ulforce, which leads into him raping women over the years just to see if he can pass down the power to any of his children due to the newly developed obsession with having a successor.]]
* CaptainErsatz: [[spoiler:He's the closest ''Citadel Of The Heart'' will ever come to featuring the "[[Anime/DigimonAdventureTri Mysterious Man]]".]]
* ChildByRape: It's highly unlikely that any of his potential heir candidates were anything but these, considering Besiege slept around as a SerialRapist in the past and even to this very day.
* ComplexityAddiction: [[spoiler:He torments Ruki leading up to the days of her 18th birthday by giving her a CluelessMystery to solve in Ruki's attempts to search for his identity, since Ruki has no clue that she's dealing with her own biological father just yet. Enric does call him out as taking things far too in-depth for his own good, but considering how much of a sheer {{Sadist}} this guy is, it's not out of the question with his immeasurable hatred for everything...]]
* DateRape: [[spoiler:The means in which Rumiko describes him more or less has it not just Rumiko simply drunk; she was manipulated into becoming tipsy with her liquor before her bedmate slipped a date rape drug into her drink which remains unnoticed until the next thing she knows she's allowing a man near 20 years her senior at the time to have his way with her entirely.]]
* DirtyOldMan: [[spoiler:He's making sexual advances on a 17 turning 18 year old girl whereas Besiege himself is over 50. Keep in mind, when Rumiko was 15, Besiege had knocked her up when he's over 20 years her senior by comparison.]]
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: [[spoiler:When he first gifts Ruki a package, it contains a pistol within and loaded ammunition, which Ruki at first completely misses the point by not even realizing that this was actually meant to be her father saying he's going to rape her once she turns 18; there are also exactly 18 bullets as ammo to use for this as well. While this could be argued to not exactly be subtle, at the chapter this takes place his nature as a SerialRapist with a PerverseSexualLust towards Ruki isn't even known yet.]]
* DomesticAbuse: [[spoiler:He doesn't give a damn about a woman's protests against him, instead just referring to them as sex dolls dressed differently at birth from one another. Literally his and Ruki's first interaction ends with him brutally beating down on his former bedmate Rumiko, whom he sees only as a baby maker.]]
* EntitledToHaveYou: "[[IResembleThatRemark Entitled dick!]] She belongs to '''me'''!!!"
* {{Ephebophile}}: [[spoiler:He's not even waiting on Ruki to turn 18 and he's already making subtle sexual moves and harassment on her before even properly introducing himself to her. Whereas Ryo is obediently going through TheJailBaitWait, Ruki's father doesn't have any of those standards that make Ryo more pleasant in this regard. Also the fact whereas there's only a few year difference with Ruki and Ryo, keep in mind Ruki's father is '''''no less than 50.''''' Also keep one other thing in mind; when Rumiko had Ruki, she was 15 just like in the canon; with her she was drugged into sleeping with a man nearly 20 years her senior, ''and'' manipulated her into underage drinking by him as well.]]
* EvilRedhead: He's who Ruki inherits her redhead hair from, considering Rumiko is blonde and Seiko is a brunette.
* {{Expy}}: Of ComicBook/{{Deathstroke}} and ''Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse'' Ego.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Even after TheReveal makes it clear, every time the scanners showcase that an [=UlforceVeedramon=] is present somewhere nearby, it either turns out to be two things; [[spoiler:Besiege himself due to him having [=UlforceVeedramon's=] VNA within him, or in very rare occasions to turn out to be either an actual [=UlforceVeedramon=] or perhaps sometimes even more rarely, [[BreadEggsBreadedEggs both at once]].]]
* TheGhost: He does actually make physical appearances, but his only true presence in which he's actually speaking is his letters to Ruki, as well as his gifts.
* HarmfulToMinors: [[spoiler:Gives Ruki an ultimatum later on; come to a secret location completely and utterly alone, or he's going to flat out kidnap Jeri and rape her to the point of fatal consequences.]]
* TheHedonist: His FatalFlaw; [[spoiler:be it regular {{Lust}} in a sexual manner or BloodLust, Besiege is a sociopath who only joined up as a ProfessionalKiller to just have an excuse to kill people, and he has slept with multiple women in hopes of passing down his Ulforce ability to their children, and he doesn't hold any guilt with courting women who are below 18 years of age even though he does give Ruki the chance to wait, although he's possibly just using that upcoming birthday to taunt her about it. A {{Sadist}} at heart with zero redeeming qualities, Besiege is Ruki's personal BigBad adversary for all of ''Digimon Re: Tamers''.]]
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler:He flat out kills Rumiko via ColdBloodedTorture in the end of Enric's arc.]]
* HeroicBastard: Ruki is this because of the fact her father never even met her mother formally and only knows of her from a one-night stand that never ended up going anywhere else, especially since Rumiko was warned against trying to pursue the man any further once she had become pregnant with Ruki years ago.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: [[spoiler:Tries to force Ryo to this line by flat out stating he'll ''never'' relent in his plans unless Ryo flat out kills him with his own hands. Even after the massive NoHoldsBarredBeatdown that ensues, Ryo has Besiege arrested which only temporarily gets him out of the way, but Ryo is traumatized by the experience.]]
* IResembleThatRemark: One of his key lines to Ryo has him basically calling him an "entitled dick" regarding Ruki, even though Besiege himself actually ''is'' an entitled dick who lusts for Ruki and feels very much entitled to have her.
* ItsPersonal: He's the personal BigBad of Ruki's entire character arc in all of ''Digimon Re: Tamers''; more so personal figuratively than any of the other [[BigBad Big Bads]] to exist in his story.
* KickTheDog:
** His first ever kill was a juvenile Golden Retriever whom he had skinned alive and has on display as a pelt in his house, ever since he was 8 years old when he had killed it.
** Him beating up Seiko and Rumiko when Enric has the two of them captive and Enric is in need of an escape for himself and his still free crew members, and then that's not even getting into Besiege [[spoiler:punching Ruki in the gut when she attempts to intervene, which ends up snapping her out of her Soul Link with Sakuyamon.]]
** [[spoiler:ColdBloodedTorture inflicted on Rumiko by slitting a part of her neck and watching her bleed out while forcing her to give him information if she wants to live, but stalls in the confrontation with the protagonists to have Rumiko die because of this solely out of spite for the protagonist's intrusion.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: What sets him apart from [[LargeHam Roy]] and [[ComedicSociopathy Enric]] is that Besiege has ''zero'' funny characteristics in mind when mentioned by the former two, he's often referred to as a "completely joyless SOB" in comparison to those two.
* TheMafia: Allegedly works for them, but whether or not he's part of the mafia shown in the fic proper is a mystery.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: [[spoiler:His first confirmed appearance is by a masked mafia member who is only seen briefly by Ruki, who only manages to stick out to her by the fact he briefly pauses for a moment to glance at Ruki before leaving.]]
* MeaningfulName: His nickname "Besiege" is based off of its definition as "to overwhelm or harass".
* MultilayerFacade: [[spoiler:Has ''three'' masks keeping his head from being exposed to clear view.]]
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: [[spoiler:First he engages in this against Rumiko and Seiko each time Enric orders him to do so, before Ruki attempts to give in to Enric's orders to leave; Besiege isn't convinced, and begins trying to flat out choke Rumiko to death all the while taunting Ruki about how she's sending these two to their deaths if she leaves. When TheCavalry bust in to save the day, Ruki and Sakuyamon end up on the receiving end of an even ''worse'' beatdown from Besiege once Besiege realizes that Sakuyamon isn't too problematic to deal with due to the Soul Link [[{{Synchronization}} making Ruki the better target to go after]].]]
* OCStandIn: A particularly JustForFun/{{Egregious}} example due to the fact he's made into a flat out villain whereas in the original he's just a divorced father for Ruki and has next to no actual role otherwise.
* OneManArmy: [[spoiler:Due to having a prosthetic left arm with [=UlforceVeedramon's VNA=] in it mixing with his own DNA, he's capable of accessing Phase 4 and is more than capable of unleashing full hell on his or Enric's opponents. His [=UlforceVeedramon=] VNA is why Raiga is reluctant to send the group on the mission upon detecting him, because she knows if it's [[OlympusMons UlforceVeedramon]] itself, [[CurbStompBattle it's not going to be a pretty fight.]]]]
* PaedoHunt: In an unusual twist he's actually solely an {{Ephebophile}} as he has no sexual attraction to children who haven't even hit puberty yet, although that's not saying much when his sole reason for it is because "children don't have any sexy curves, so it's too difficult to get off on them", and he personally considers teenagers more fun targets anyways because of their [[TookALevelInCynic emotionally tougher]] nature versus the same individuals as [[WideEyedIdealist children]].
* ParentalAbandonment: [[{{Exaggerated}} He doesn't even know he even has a kid to begin with.]] [[spoiler:Whether or not he even does once he gets a better look at Ruki and immediately develops a PerverseSexualLust for her is enough to make ''[[SatanicArchetype Enric]]'' [[EvenEvilHasStandards point out he has a bit too many issues]].]]
* ParentalIncest: [[spoiler:His intent for Ruki is to court her into the bedroom once she turns 18.]]
* PerverseSexualLust: [[spoiler:Towards his own ''biological daughter''. When they first meet, he gives her a seemingly random number which Ruki eventually states to her friends to be "the days remaining until she turns 18". At first it flies over Ruki's head as to why he had said that to begin with, as well as the fact she doesn't get the hint either when Besiege sends her a package which not only confirms Besiege knows where she lives and is actively stalking her, but also the fact it contains [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything a pistol with exactly 18 bullets to use]].]]
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: [[spoiler:He flat out views women as nothing more than sex objects and housewives. He also qualifies in a meta-sense as so far Besiege is the biggest offender of violence against women, threats and successful rape attempts, and violence and endangerment against minors as a whole.]]
* ProfessionalKiller: Allegedly is one of these according to what Rumiko was warned about him an what she ends up telling Ruki in turn. [[spoiler:He took the job because he's a {{Sadist}} BloodKnight who just wanted an excuse to kill people regardless of the actual payment.]]
* PsychoForHire: [[spoiler:Depends on if he was ultimately just [[AxCrazy that unhinged]] and looking for an excuse to commit [[SociopathicSoldier "legal" manslaughter]] or if he truly did want the monetary value of being Enric's personal assassin.]]
* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: [[spoiler:He all but flat out states to Ruki in their first meeting that he intends to come and rape her once she turns 18. He also performed statutory rape on Rumiko because Rumiko was only 15 when she had sex with Besiege.]]
* RoomFullOfCrazy: [[spoiler:His bedroom doesn't just have the Golden Retriever pelt; it also has the mounted heads of some of Besiege's personal victims, be it anywhere between former bedmates, several teenagers or children who were children of his who had inherited the Ulforce from him but proved too weak, or just the mounted heads of bystanders who he was ordered by Enric to kill to which he had a personal motive for wanting to trophify their heads that had nothing to do with his own normal motives.]]
* RummageSaleReject: He looks kind of like a Digimon with all of his clothing and equipment, complete with the TooManyBelts aesthetic some Digimon have. [[spoiler:Which is meant to hide the fact he's a human who has the Ulforce in him.]]
* {{Sadist}}: [[spoiler:Sometimes he'll allow victims to just bleed out to death as he watches with cold indifference, if merely to see what their last moves in life will be.]]
* SerialRapist: He ReallyGetsAround through raping other women into having his children as to see if he can pass down his Ulforce as to have a potential heir to his profession with.
* ShownTheirWork: The reason he even has the Ulforce in him is because of a butchered left arm he had replaced with a seemingly random Digimon's left arm in which the remaining wounds rapidly healed and the VNA within the arm quickly entered the remainder of his entire body as well. Ulforce doubles as a healing agent in addition to a power source, but since the version of [=UlforceVeedramon's=] arm used was the X-Antibody variety, it ended up being a version of it which entered his whole system and gave him SuperEmpowering due to the Ulforce attempting to heal wounds in the remainder of his body it doesn't even realize aren't even there.
* SociopathicSoldier: [[spoiler:Took up the ProfessionalKiller job just to kill people, guilty or not.]]
* SoftSpokenSadist: [[spoiler:His introduction to Pteramon and the others in Chapter 14 pretty much solidifies this aspect of his character, whereas it's now implied his alleged physical appearance in Chapter 12 was actually a decoy.]]
* TooManyBelts
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: Even as a little kid he's known for having a sociopathic behavior; he keeps his original pet Golden Retriever as a skinned pelt in his house, claiming it to be nothing more than a "rabid reminder to never keep pets". In reality he had killed it himself solely because it wasn't the breed of dog he had wanted his parents to get for him, citing the Golden Retriever as "too friendly".
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: So far ''Citadel Of The Heart'' doesn't have any immediate villains to compare him to; even Darigus, the poster child for this trope in this continuity, is just one variation of this trope whereas Besiege is a human villain with SerialRapist tendencies and a thing for [[DateRape date raping]] [[{{Ephebophile}} teenagers]] and has a PerverseSexualLust towards Ruki, [[ParentalIncest his own daughter]], and is only a ProfessionalKiller [[SociopathicSoldier because he flat out wants to kill people]] and showcases a serious [[{{Sadist}} Sadism]] to his BloodLust to which, unlike the LargeHam that is Roy and the ComedicSociopathy displayed by Enric, or to some the sheer RefugeInAudacity levels of BrutalHonesty that Megalodon displays, there is ''nothing'' funny about Besiege by comparison.
* WalkingSpoiler
* WhamEpisode: [[spoiler:In the aftermath of Enric's debut arc, he leaves Ruki and Seiko mangled, and Rumiko killed due to his violent beatdown and inflicting ColdBloodedTorture on the latter through bleeding her out to get information. All of Ruki's friends are absolutely stunned someone as callous as Besiege even exists, considering now their sights are pointed on him aside from just Enric. Everyone ends up going low to take time to recover from the mental blow of Rumiko's murder, all the while Ryo is left restless due to wanting to give Besiege a piece of his mind.]]
* WhamLine: [[spoiler:''Directed to Ruki via a letter'': "Greetings, [[LukeIAmYourFather my daughter]]. I have some words I want to share with you elsewhere, once you get the time."]]
* WheresTheFunInThat: Why he doesn't rape children; they have no curves and their naivety makes them too boring to BreakTheCutie with because teenagers not only have curves but are emotionally sturdier to see them break under the much more stronger emotions they would have at that age. Considering Besiege's [[{{Sadist}} sadism]] this doesn't sound like it's unrealistic for him to claim, but it's also [[NotHelpingYourCase not helping his case]] since he's still HarmfulToMinors regardless.
* WouldHurtAChild: The author confirms that Besiege is the very reason why Ai and Mako are AdaptedOut; Besiege would've killed the two without thinking twice if Enric so much as ordered the two dead, and considering they're both 4 years old at most, they would have no means of defending themselves against a full grown man with a supped up arsenal. That, and as noted in every other portion of Besiege's tropes here, he's just ''that'' heinous to go through with it without even batting an eye.
