!!''[[Recap/MonsterHighFrightOn Fright On]]''
[[folder:Dee O'Gee]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fright_on_obedient_dee_ogee.jpg]]
A werewolf from Crescent Moon High who joins the MH student body after the two schools merge. The most physically imposing werewolf of the school and a close friend of Romulus.
* TheBigGuy: Of Crescent Moon High, but he remains the most muscular werewolf at Monster High and overall one of the biggest students. Only Manny and Finnegan are in his league.
* PunnyName: His name is literally the letters of the word "dog" phonetically spelled out and then squashed back together when pronounced.
* TheQuietOne: Actually has some things to say when he first shows up, but the moment Romulus appears on screen, he never talks again.
* ShoutOut: Definitely designed after {{ComicBook/Wolverine}}, who'd been in the mainstream spotlight since the 2000 movie ''{{Film/XMen1}}''.
* ToylessToylineCharacter: The vampire couple has gotten as far as trademarked names, but neither Dee O'Gee nor Romulus ever had a hint of being considered for a doll.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gory Fangtell]]
[[quoteright:295:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallgory.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Cindy Robinson
The daughter of vampires, she joins the MH student body after its merge with Belfry Prep. Never seen without her glasses; and in ''Fright On'', never seen without her boyfriend and partner in crime Bram Devein.
----
* AlphaBitch: During ''Fright On'', she unsuccessfully attempts to secure a place at the top of the Monster High food chain. And in ''13 Wishes'' and ''Frights, Camera, Action'', even after the whole vamps vs. Lycans spat is resolved, she still picks on Howleen and Draculaura.
* BreakoutCharacter: Gory's shown up in multiple CG specials and webisodes, and is very well-liked by fans.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: Natural for a vampire.
* LaserGuidedKarma: You just ''had'' to pick on Draculaura the day she got selected to be queen of the vampires, didn't you?
* PetTheDog: During her brief stint as a black carpet [[{{Bouncer}} bouncer]] in ''Frights, Camera, Action'' she lets Ygor into Elissabat's premiere. However, she gets back at Lord Stoker for turning her down as queen by ''[[NotOnTheList kicking him out]]'' of the premiere.
* PointyEars: Typical for her monster type.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: As a vamp, yeah.
* SchoolUniformsAreTheNewBlack: Even at the Vampire Majesty world premiere and ''crowning of the next Vampire Queen'', she still wears her Belfry Prep outfit.
* ToylessToylineCharacter: Directly invoked, since she lost a 2014 poll for who the next doll would be to Finnegan Wake.
* VillainDecay: Used to be a hellish AlphaBitch, but now she's a bit nicer. Emphasis on "a bit".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Van Hellscream]]
[[quoteright:304:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallhellscream.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Cam Clarke
An ex-monster-hunter touting himself as a monster-humans relations expert, he comes to MH claiming to help the school with its monster-gration. However, he's actually planning to turn the werewolves and vampires against each other, ensuring that monsters will face an even larger divide.
----
* ATasteOfTheirOwnMedicine: Gets turned to stone, just like he did to Bloodgood with gorgon powder.
* BigBad: Of ''Fright On''.
* BigBadDuumvirate: With Ms. Crabgrass. She's probably the only monster he trusts closely, and aids him in his schemes against other monsters.
* EgomaniacHunter: What he actually is, and most likely where he got all his potions.
* EvilWearsBlack: His most prominent color.
* FantasticRacism: Towards monsters, and believes keeping them separated will keep normies safe.
* FauxAffablyEvil: A baddie without a doubt, but generally genial right up until the monsters go up against him at the gym.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: One over his left eye.
* LaserGuidedKarma: In the last scene of ''Fright On'': he and Crabgrass open the door to the gym for the Skullastic Superintendents to look in, see the monster students fighting, and shut the school down... but they're all happily partying. When he and Crabgrass try to make a break for it, they get TakenForGranite courtesy of Deuce. Bloodgood's suggestion for the new statues? The catacombs.
* ManipulativeBastard: When Bloodgood was gone, he's able to turn the vampires and werewolves against each other in one day by playing to historical wounds and personal insecurities (like Howleen's desire to be important). Since he was willing to attack them all with potentially deadly powders, it's safe to say he didn't actually care about any of them.
* PickOnSomeoneYourOwnSize: His scheme to start a monster interspecies war starts at a ''high school''.
* PunnyName: On Van Helsing, the monster hunter from {{Literature/Dracula}}.
* VillainousCheekbones: But of course- it adds to the menace.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He is convinced that the only reason the humans are still a thriving species is that the monsters have been too busy fighting one another to bother attacking humans. Thus feels his actions are protecting humanity.

!!''[[Recap/MonsterHighWhyDoGhoulsFallInLove Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love?]]''
[[folder: Kieran Valentine]]
[[quoteright:346:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallvalentine.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Jonathan Lipow
The antagonist of ''Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love'', he was Draculaura's boyfriend (for a week) before her family had to flee their old home about 500 years prior to her attending Monster High. An emotional vampire, he's ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin (a vampire who subsists off of emotions, not blood). To this end, he'd use his charms and looks to steal love from many ghouls, until he lost his powers attempting to steal Draculaura's heart after his first attempt centuries before was cut short. He regains them later from working in an animal shelter (that's heavily implied to be magical) and learns that stolen emotion cannot sustain any emotional vampire. He was released as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive doll alongside Djinni Grant in the summer of 2015.
----
* AmbiguouslyGay: While the original plan was for him to be an ArmoredClosetGay that eventually learns to accept himself, parts of that character arc have seeped into his journals. One entry mentions he befriended a Monster High boy and exchanged numbers with him, with heavy implications on him saying the day wasn't a total bust thanks to that encounter; and a lot of his more remorseful entries place emphasis on him not wanting to be ashamed of himself anymore.
* TheAtoner: In the second graphic novel "I Only Have Eye For You", he tries to make up for his past actions by "helping" the couples get together before the dance. His actions usually backfired though, and nobody even knew it was him until the last chapter. In the end, they all realize that he really was trying to help and that his actions did help the couples get closer - even if it wasn't the way he intended. They accept him but ask that he acts more openly next time.
** In his SDCC diary, he becomes the finder of Djinni, and attempts to use his first wish to "fix the things he had broken", but [[ExactWords ends up in a janitor's outfit at Monster High after Draculaura's Sweet 1600]], before being recognized by a minotaur and risking being thrown back into The Bog Of Eternal Stench. He uses his second wish to go back home.
* BigBad: Of 'Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love?'
* BigBadDuumvirate: Had one with Toralei Stripe in ''Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love?'' He wanted Draculaura's heart, she wants Draculaura's unhappiness.
* TheCasanova: Has broken dozens of girls' hearts.
* CharmPerson: Has the ability to hypnotize girls to fall in love with him, which he does to Draculaura to get her away from Clawd. It's part of the deal as an emotional vampire.
* CoolShades: Which he used to tell when a girl's heart is ready to be "harvested"--[[NoOntologicalInertia and break when he's defeated]]. The first pair he had crosses over with RoundHippieShades.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: If not friendship, at least acceptance.
* ExactWords: He tries to use a wish from Whisp to go back to Monster High and "fix what was broken", but he gets sent back to fix the railing around the bog as a repairman, and doesn't get the chance to undo his mistakes.
* GreekChorus: The three clouds who follow him in ''Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love?''.
* HeelFaceTurn: Realizes his wrongs at the end, but he blows his chance to fix things through wishes.
* HypnoticEyes: This is how he captures hearts.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: After finding Whisp and wasting his first two wishes, his last wish is for them to always be friends, which grants each of them automatic contacts and phone reception between the monster world and Whisp's lantern.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Sort of - he never really loved Draculaura, but since he hurt her the most with his past actions he puts the most effort into "helping" her and Clawd in the graphic novel.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Falling into the Bog, along with Toralei.
* {{Yandere}}: For Draculaura.
* ManipulativeBastard: Has little concern for the monsters involved in his schemes, and uses them to further his goals.
* MeaningfulName: "Kieran" means "dark-haired", a classic feature of vampires which he has.
* MommasBoy: He cries for his mom at the end of ''Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love'' when his plans fail.
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: He feeds off emotions, not blood.
* WaxOnWaxOff: A goblin lady sets him to work in an unwanted monster animal shelter after being fraught with stench for a very long time, leaving him with not much company and not much to do. Duties include caring for the animals (which include [[ManiacMonkeys flying monkeys]]) and cleaning their cages, and anticipating [[DungFu what they tend to throw]]. It turns out his dedication to his work pays off and earns the love of the animals which allows his powers to return, getting rid of the stench. His experience also leaves him with a pathological fear of the aforementioned airborne primates.
* SharpDressedMan: Always wears a nice suit.
* SouthernGentleman: Puts on a fake accent to make himself sound like this when he's trying to charm people. His real voice is closer to a general American accent.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:C.A. Cupid]]
[[quoteright:294:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallcupid.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Erin Fitzgerald
The daughter of Eros, she runs the school's love advice radio show and is featured in the 2012 special ''Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love?''. Her Monster High doll was sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores alongside a diary in its second release. Currently transferred to Toys/EverAfterHigh.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Stark white with limbs that fade into black with a lace pattern.
* ATeamFiring: Her freaky flaw is her seriously bad aim, which was a plot point in the special.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: She's in charge of teenage love, but she's a terrible shot, and winds up causing as many problems as she solves. Young love is notorious for being messy and confusing.
* ElegantGothicLolita: A natural fit for a creepy Cupid.
* {{Foil}}: To Abbey. C.A. encourages people who follow her radio show to flirt and laugh at the other person's jokes even if they aren't funny, while blunt, outspoken Abbey says they should just be brutally honest. On a more direct level, the two are also seriously divided between winter and spring for the best season of the year.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: The reflections of light on her eyes are shaped like hearts.
* HappilyAdopted: Reveals this in an interview with the official Monster High Tumblr. Her true monster heritage is unknown to everyone, herself included. Ghoulia thinks she may be a bone elemental, but Cupid realizes that she's not a monster or a [[Toys/EverAfterHigh fairy tale]], and that she just goes wherever she's needed.
* InnocentBlueEyes: This helps to offset her creepiness and tie her to her theme.
* InLoveWithLove: Maybe not herself, but she says anyone like this is considered her friend.
* LampshadeHanging: She just sort of shows up out of nowhere as a radio host, but her diary reveals that that was exactly the intention- she had been attending MH invisibly for a while Bloodgood sought to find a plausible way to introduce her to the monster population.
* LoveGoddess: Daughter of Eros, but a much creepier take on the idea.
* MeaningfulName: Subverted. While Chariclo and Arganthone were both women from Greek mythology, neither really has anything to do with Cupid's character.
* OverlyLongName: Alludes to this being the reason that she goes by C.A.: "I use my initials because my name is scary long, hideously unpronounceable and you know you're just going to call me 'Cupid' anyway."
** Confirmed in the diary, where we learn that it stands for Chariclo Arganthone.
* PerkyGoth: While she's one of the creepier-looking students at MH, she's genuinely cheerful and sweet.
* PutOnABus: Destination: Toys/EverAfterHigh.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Hearts, as seen on her dress, hairstyle, make-up, shoes, and archery equipment, included in her bow-and-arrow earrings, quiver bracelet, bow-and-arrow ring, and bow-shaped heels.
* TimeAbyss: She's as old as teenage love.
* TheMatchmaker: Her hobby. Varying degrees of success in this field.
* TheReveal: She is the reason that Cleo & Clawd were a couple for a short time-- she mistakenly believed they were meant to be together.
* ShotInTheAss: '''Simultaneously''' with Clawd in ''Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love?'' by '' '''[[HoistByHisOwnPetard herself]]''' ''.
* UncannyValleyMakeup: She only paints the middle of her lips, giving her a blank or harsh look resembling a porcelain doll.
* WingedHumanoid: Subverted. Cupid appears to have heart-shaped wings made out of a ribcage, but these wings are actually attached to her with a collar around her neck and seem to serve as a costume piece to fit into Monster High better, rather than being any part of her anatomy. This continues into ''Ever After High'', where Cupid's now-feathery wings tellingly go through ''multiple'' distinct versions, and all continue to attach with a pretty transparent collar that disguises the attachment less than the other winged EAH characters with the same.

!!''[[Recap/MonsterHighEscapeFromSkullShores Escape From Skull Shores]]''
[[folder:Andy Beast]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallandy.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' George Newbern
A monster boy who lived alone in Skull Shores for a long time, as he was sent away by his parents due to a [[ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk Hulk-like condition]] that makes him grow in size and ferocity when he's angered. He also has a strange sense of familiarity with Frankie-- despite never having seen her before-- apparently building statues of her all around the island. This is actually because Frankie's the IdenticalStranger to a human scientist whom he had a great friendship with years prior, but that doesn't stop him and Frankie from becoming good friends (it actually helps). She convinces him to return to civilization, and stay at Monster High.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Purple.
* BeastAndBeauty: With the scientist girl and Frankie.
* GeniusBruiser: A big dude who can rip an intercom out of a wall, but is very eloquent and able to build a very complicated home out of a [[BambooTechnology wrecked boat and rudimentary jungle stuff]]. Also able to build near lifelike statues.
* TheHermit: He was tired of constant fear and apprehension at his condition, so he willingly decided to begin living on Skull Shores. The [[HollywoodNatives Tikis]] are too scared of him to confront him, so he was happily living by himself until the scientist (and later, the ghouls) find him. He's isolated himself from contact with others for so long that he's shrouded in legend. It's legitimately surprising for Frankie and the viewers when we find out the Beast of Skull Shores is usually... a kid.
* HornedHumanoid: In both forms, bigger when he becomes the Beast.
* {{Mutants}}: By his account he just inexplicably has the ability to transform into a giant beast when stressed.
* NatureHero: Shipwrecked on Skull Shores as a child, he's attuned to the place.
* OlderThanTheyLook: The ghouls find him in the 21st century, and he looks like a (horned, musclebound and purple) teenage boy, but he was probably born in the 17-1800s.
* PointyEars: They're also [[ExpressiveEars expressive]].
* ToylessToylineCharacter: Fandom poster boy for this trope.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Although he's supposedly going to Monster High now, he pretty much hasn't been seen since ''Escape From Skull Shores''.
* ShipTease: With Frankie in ''Skull Shores''.
* ShoutOut: A giant monster from the jungle who forms an attachment to our beautiful heroine and can only be calmed down by her when provoked to horrifying rage? Film/KingKong much? Also, his first name is one to Creator/AndySerkis, who did suit work for everyone's favorite ginormous gorilla.
* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: When he experiences hate, anger, or fear, he becomes so terrifying that he "becomes the Beast". He loses almost all coherence in the special when driven to this, and the only thing that brings him back to normal is Frankie.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bartleby Farnum]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallfarnum.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Keith Silverstein
A human [[ConMan conman]] who initially plans to exhibit the ghouls in a freakshow when he finds them adrift, but when he sees Frankie's uncanny resemblance to a human scientist he decides to use her as bait for the Beast of Skull Shores (that's Andy).
----
* BadBoss: To Kipling, a young monster he keeps as his assistant. Farnum berates him on his "horrible" appearance (that is, he looks perfectly fine except for his [[UnusualEars big ears]]) and forces him to wear a BrownBagMask. The ghouls teach Kipling not to take that treatment anymore, and at the end [[MistreatmentInducedBetrayal he finally gets back at Farnum]].
* BigBad: Of ''Escape From Skull Shores''.
* FantasticRacism: Considers himself intellectually superior to all monsters.
* FauxAffablyEvil: As a showman, he uses a façade of congeniality to get what he wants-- but if his plans are failing or he's getting challenged he quickly becomes aggressive.
* GoodHairEvilHair: A pretty DastardlyWhiplash-esque mustache-- sans the beard.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Throughout the movie, he prides himself on his humanity but at the end when he makes ready to give Andy to a freakshow, his beleaguered monster assistant Kipling flings him over a ledge into tar after he's fallen through a passing fleet of birds-- effectively [[TarAndFeathers tarring and feathering him]]. He's then carted off by the employees of the freakshow, who mistake ''him'' for a freak.
* ManipulativeBastard: Swindler by trade.
* SwordCane: No sword in his cane, but a lot of tricky tools-- and every single one can neutralize a monster attack.
* EvilBrit: Has a British accent.
[[/folder]]

!!''[[Recap/MonsterHighFridayNightFrights Friday Night Frights]]''
[[folder:Gary]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/friday_night_frights_gary_close_up.jpg]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Andrew Duncan
The Granite City High SKRM strongest member and best friend of Rocco.
----
* LivingStatue: It comes with being a gargoyle.
* OralFixation: Not literally, but his most distinctive feature is a fang jutting out from the left of his jaw with no counterpart on the right. It gives the same mouth focus as if he was chewing on something.
* PunnyName: Probably a pun on "quarry".
* StrawMisogynist: A light case. He doesn't do any talking like Rocco, but it follows that he agrees with everything the other says.
* ToylessToylineCharacter: No toy whatsoever.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rocco]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/friday_night_frights_rocco_close_up.jpg]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Evan Smith
The SKRM Captain of Granite City High and Toralei's boyfriend.
----
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Subverted. He ''thought'' he was hiding his readiness to cheat to beat other schools from Toralei, which surprised her because not only did she know, it was one of the reasons she was dating him!
* EverythingsSparklyWithJewelry: He's got a golden earring on the left.
* LivingStatue: It comes with being a gargoyle.
* MeaningfulName: His name sounds like "rock", while the spelling is based on the French art style Roc[c]oco.
* OfficialCouple: With Toralei Stripe. His only mention outside of ''Friday Night Frights'' was during the "A Night in Scare-adise" event where Toralei was sad he couldn't make it to the party.
* RuggedScar: He has a scar-like crack running over his left eye.
* StrawMisogynist: A light case that only applies to SKRM, but is definitely in play. Of note is his reaction when his longtime teammate turns out to be a girl (Rochelle) and leaves the team in anger over their behavior. He's only embarrassed over having played with a girl on the team. He does eventually see the error of his ways.
* ToylessToylineCharacter: No toy, despite being presented as Toralei's beau.
[[/folder]]

!!''[[Recap/MonsterHighGhoulsRule Ghouls Rule!]]''
[[folder:Chad]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Steve Staley
A normie boy who befriends Jackson and the monster kids.
----
* CannotTellAJoke: No sense of the proper workings of humor.
* NiceGuy: Chad is a friendly, glass-half-full kind of guy. It's established when he jumps to defend the monsters, still perfect strangers at this point, when Lilith accused them of attacking people at the Halloween party.
* OddFriendship: They don't seem to have a lot in common, but he gets along great with Clair.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Clair]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Erin Fitzgerald
A {{goth}} normie girl attending New Salem High who takes a liking to Jackson. Later, she helps protect the monster kids.
----
* DarkIsNotEvil: She turns out to be a supportive and considerate friend, despite her gothic exterior.
* DeadpanSnarker: She puts out a few.
* IAmSpartacus: Along with the other normies, she uses this on Sheriff and the NSPD when they try to arrest all the monster kids.
* OnlyOneName: A second one is never given.
* ShipTease: With Jackson--she kisses him in Ghouls Rule.
* StepfordSnarker: Speaks along to the "the same insecurities" line in the NotSoDifferentRemark between the monsters and normies, hinting at this.
* StockingFiller: Black and dark grey ones under jean shorts.
* SugarAndIcePersonality
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lilith Van Hellscream]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Kate Higgins
Normie niece of Van Hellscream, and with a deep-seated hatred of monsters to match.
----
* TheAce: Pretty skilled at what she does.
* AlphaBitch: But she's a human going against the monsters.
* BadassBandolier: A red one.
* BrainsAndBrawn: She's the brains to her goons' brawn.
* DarkActionGirl: Capable, but not nice.
* FantasticRacism: She was very much against monsters before she changed for the better.
* HeelFaceTurn: Lilith befriends the ghouls the moment she realizes her uncle's FantasticRacism-based philosophies are wrong, and encourages her schoolmates to do the same.
* IcyBlueEyes: Adds to her cold personality.
* LargeHam: Plays up her actions as a villain does.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sheriff]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Audu Paden
The corrupt sheriff of the New Salem Police Department.
----
* BadCopIncompetentCop
* DirtyCop: Goes ahead with planning to [[OffWithHisHead execute]] Holt Hyde ([[PickOnSomeoneYourOwnSize who is]] '''[[PickOnSomeoneYourOwnSize 15]]''') to bolster his image, even after Lilith and Cleo confess to the vandalism.
* DonutMessWithACop: He's seen with one.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: We never learn the rest of his name, and he's Sheriff in the credits.
* KarmaHoudini: When the normies and monsters confront him at the Hall of Halloween, he backs down by saying he's off duty and slinks off to the snack table... with nobody batting an eye. We neither see nor hear of him afterwards.
* PickOnSomeoneYourOwnSize: He would've arrested (and perhaps even executed) all the teenaged monster students if it weren't for the normies.
* FantasticRacism: Hates monsters.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fawn]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/13_wishes_fawn_wants_money.jpg]]
--> '''Voiced By:''' Erin Fitzgerald
A deer girl who was the last one to find the lantern before Howleen. Whisp nearly got her wish for power from her, but Gigi snapped her out of it just in time.
----
* BoyishShortHair: One of the few girls to have it.
* TheMarvelousDeer: The first introduced to the franchise even.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Last we got to see of her is when she's left alone in the desert and walks off while the story follows the fate of the lantern.
* YouthfulFreckles: It's the white dapples deer usually have.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gigi Grant]]
[[quoteright:298:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallgigi.PNG]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Jonquil Goode
The daughter of a genie who initially appears in the ''13 Wishes'' special. While her powers are abused by Whisp's manipulations, by the end Whisp takes her place and Gigi loses her powers...mostly. That's not a bad thing, as she's finally able to reap the benefits of longtime friends.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Bright pink.
* BenevolentGenie: She cares for her Finders and hates that she has to leave after her service is over, and is very upset when Whisp shows up and corrupts Howleen.
* CreepyLongFingers: Part of her magical features, and possibly to invoke scorpions' large pincers.
* GenieInABottle: She's found and freed from this status by Howleen. Due to her long periods of imprisonment, Gigi is claustrophobic and loves to see new places once she's relieved of the genie job.
* GoldMakesEverythingShiny: Gigi wears a ''lot'' of it, and an orange-gold tone is even one of her main hair colors.
* LiteralGenie: It's not of her own volition though, that's just how genie powers work. Tries her hardest to warn people of this before they start wishing because when they start she can't help them. She once got her mouth ''forcefully shut'' until her servitude was up after trying to warn a finder.
* MythologyGag: All of her hairstyles include a ponytail section, due to said style being a staple of a genie's look ([[{{WesternAnimation/Aladdin}} male]] or [[Series/IDreamOfJeannie female]]), and all of her shoes have an upturned point (yes, even her high-tops), which is also a classic genie feature.
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[VagueAge No official age]], but since her father lost her birth certificate between the rule of King Darius and [[UsefulNotes/JuliusCaesar Caesar]] she's definitely at least OlderThanFeudalism. Her father says she's around 15 physically, however.
* OurGeniesAreDifferent: Has some scorpion-like biology. Also, she offers thirteen wishes instead of three--which is actually an attestation to her experience. We learn from Djinni's diary that, in the MH universe, genies ''start'' as only being able to grant three wishes.
* PointyEars: Rounded upward with a point that echoes her shoes.
* PunnyName: "Gigi" sounds similar to "genie", and "Grant", while a fairly common English last name, is used to invoke the verb "to grant" [wishes].
* RedOniBlueOni: Much like Jackson and Holt, she serves as the blue to Whisp's red. Gigi is more calm and timid, and Whisp, even after her redemption, is more active and a bit snarky, too. While this is a reversal of their hair colors, their eyes correspond to the idea.
* ScaryScorpions: Her main motif, due to her desert origins. Her skin is plated like one, she has long fingers and a scorpion tattoo, her signature hairstyle is shaped like a scorpion tail, her pet is a scorpion, and they feature in her accessories.
* ShipTease: With Finnegan in his basic release diary.
* ShoutOut: In "Scareful What You Wish For", she [[Series/IDreamOfJeannie folds her arms and blinks when granting wishes.]]
* SymbolMotifClothing: Scorpions, and abstract symbols resembling rounded scales.
* YouthfulFreckles: These help to add to her innocence and appeal.

[[folder:Djinni "Whisp" Grant]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lilwhisp.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Jonquil Goode
Gigi's LivingShadow, created by [[Characters/EverAfterHigh Giles Grimm]]. Was officially released as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive doll alongside Kieran Valentine in the summer of 2015.
----
* ADogNamedDog: "Djinni" and "genie" are essentially two terms for the same thing, making her this.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Purple.
* BigBad: Of ''13 Wishes''.
* {{Bookworm}}: Once she gets some free time in the lantern, she's surprised to discover that she is an avid reader.
* BrickJoke: Before he meets Whisp, Valentine's diary details an unpleasant community-service experience cleaning up after flying monkeys, leading him to never want to see one again. Whisp's diary profile says she's heard about flying monkeys, and that she might consider one for a pet.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: Howleen figures out what drove her to megalomania and uses her last wish to let Whisp trade places with Gigi as the new Genie of the Lamp, thus freeing Gigi and giving Whisp the position she always wanted. However, this still counts as a punishment-- Gigi now gets to chill out with monsters at her own leisure and on her own terms, while when Whisp's not with a Finder, she has a lot of pretty lonely downtime, and she's bound to the rules of the lamp. Valentine's pretty much her only constant friend and [[LongDistanceRelationship he can't really hang out with her, since her time as his genie is up]].
* DarkIsNotEvil: When she's reformed, she decides to keep her shadow look and still shows interest in a darker fashion, but she's much better morally.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: With Gigi, the Monster High ghouls, and Kieran Valentine.
* DrivenByEnvy: She ''really'' suffered from jealousy over Gigi's role as the Genie, and that helped her stir the same feelings in Howleen.
* EvilTwin: To Gigi.
* FacialMarkings: Black symbols over and under her right eye, depicting the phases of a lunar eclipse.
* FogFeet: This is what she has in her shadow form. When the eclipse and Howleen's wicked wishes turn her solid, she gains legs. Her SDCC doll has a unique system that allows you to choose between the two, with a pair of legs and a shadowy tail that connects to her torso.
* TheGloriousWarOfSisterlyRivalry: A world-domination variant. Whisp's jealousy of Gigi's success led her to go out and corrupt Gigi's finders and use them to abuse Gigi's wishes to give herself more power and eventually take over the world with the aid of an eclipse.
* HeelFaceTurn: Probably brought about by her realizing all her years of scheming came to nothing, and that being able to travel around the world is better than slavishly trying to control it.
* LampshadeHanging: She realizes that her work-wear and causal wear are pretty much identical, and she's well aware that her favorite food (scarrot cake) has no relevance to her monster type or personality, [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall unlike everyone else's]].
* LivingShadow: In ''13 Wishes'', she became visibly more "real" as the Finder -- in this case, Howleen -- makes the wishes she suggests and grants her more control. Even so, her legs still turn into shadows much like Twyla's.
* LoopholeAbuse: Whisp eventually realized that she wasn't restricted under the same rules Gigi was, so she left the lamp and began her treachery.
* {{Lunacy}}: The solar eclipse boosts her abilities, with the moonlight solidifying her shadowy form and granting her power.
* MeaningfulName: "Djinni" is the older Arabic version of the Anglicized "genie", with the former often used in modern works as a more ominous or sinister term for the being. "Whisp" is short for "whisper", her manipulative method of reaching the dark side of a Finder's subconscious, but also sounds like "wisp", referring to her shadowy matter and initial FogFeet.
* MirrorCharacter: With Howleen: both feel overshadowed by their older sister figures. This never really becomes a direct part of the conflict, but it does help Whisp appeal to Howleen's darker side, and later helps Howleen sympathize with Whisp and come up with her final wish.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: If you had only seen ''13 Wishes'' and not known the dolls' billing, you wouldn't know that "Whisp" wasn't her actual name.
* OrangeBlueContrast: In her brief makeover as a lamp genie, Whisp gets blue accents whereas Gigi has orange/gold.
* PaletteSwap: As Gigi's shadow, excepting her tattoos, earrings, colors, and lower body, Whisp is just an alternately-colored version of Gigi. Her second doll gives her some different fashions to avert this more, but her hairstyle still mimics one of Gigi's[[note]]Freaky Field Trip Gigi's, to be exact[[/note]].
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Until her redemption, this definitely applied.
* {{Retcon}}: She becomes a "lamp genie" like Gigi at the end of ''13 Wishes'', becoming physical flesh and blood and looking just like Gigi with white and blue swapped in for black and gold. However, her SDCC doll release says she changed her appearance back to her old shadowy look (though it's her solid form as seen in the movie's climax) to stay true to herself. Out-of-universe, of course, this is to allow collectors to have a doll that represents Whisp's most recognizable (and more unique) design.
* RunningGag: The lantern's "You are summoned" notice in her diary, and her frustration with the actual voice until she finally gets it to sound encouraging and friendly.
* ScaryScorpions: See Gigi, as they're physically identical. Her only difference is that she has more scorpion tattoos than Gigi, with some going down her left arm and the back of her right hand as well as their shared chest tattoo.
* SealedEvilInACan: The lamp, which she shares with Gigi. Eventually, she realizes that she doesn't need to stay behind while Gigi's active...
* SkeletonsInTheCoatCloset: Her "I ♡ Fashion" doll has a pair of knee-high shoes made of scorpion-like bones.
* TheSleepless: She offhandedly mentions in her diary that she doesn't need sleep.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Chunky zig-zag shapes, as seen in her earrings and one of her second doll's skirts. These seem to reference the shards of her magic mirror.
* VagueAge: Since she's Gigi's shadow. She just goes with 15, to go along with Gigi's age.
* WeCanRuleTogether: She offered Howleen unlimited power at her side even after it becomes clear that that's not really what she wants anymore. The offer was most likely a desperate farce.
* WideEyesAndShrunkenIrises: When the eclipse occurs, she gains this look, either out of some effect of the moonlight or her desperation for her plan to succeed.

[[folder:Twyla Boogeyman]]
[[quoteright:326:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smalltwyla.PNG]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Jonquil Goode (2010-2021), Creator/KaylaCromer (2022-Present)
Daughter of the Boogeyman. Reserved and non-confrontational, she has the power to move through shadows (called shadow-jumping). Although now very skilled at it, her signature diary reveals that it took a substantial amount of practice. She's introduced as Howleen's closest friend in Generation 1.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: A unique example; she has lavender skin, with her limbs fading into dark grey (in G3, pink) shadows at the extremities.
* AnimalMotifs:
** Twyla tends to have an association with rabbits. Some of her dolls, such as her G3 and unreleased Howling Hoodies doll, have rabbit motifs or invoke rabbits. Also helps by the fact that her pet is also a literal dust bunny (named Dustin).
** She also has a dust mite motif- her G3 signature doll has cobwebs in her ears and a pair of dust mite earrings.
* AnimalEaredHeadband: Her G3 doll comes with a pink hat with bunny ears, ala [[{{WesternAnimation/BobsBurgers}} Louise Belcher]].
* AscendedExtra: Her Freak du Chic release zig-zags this. While it's more elaborate and unique than her appearance in the corresponding webisodes, it's a Target exclusive.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: A pattern that shows up in some of her outfits, likely to represent dust mites.
* BreakoutCharacter: Out of any of the special-introduced characters, Twyla may have had the biggest impact. She had several G1 dolls after her debut and enjoyed narrative focus in multiple following webisodes and specials, and became the first character introduced by a G1 special to receive dolls in all three incarnations of the franchise. Her debut in G3 was also early, with her being one of the starting-assortment cast members alongside the Original Ghouls and bigger cast staples like Deuce and Toralei.
* ConsistentClothingStyle: Her dolls all feature a Victorian-influenced style with ornamental details based on features of beds, doors, and old furniture to incorporate fears of a creepy nighttime bedroom (the monster under the bed or in the closet) and a classic haunted house. Twyla's clothes also often reflect pajamas, befitting her nature as a monster who frightens people trying to sleep.
* CoolHouse: The family Boogeymansion, which is also a BigFancyHouse and has {{Bizarrchitecture}}. A huge place with stairs that seem to go wherever they please, doors that act akin to in-house portals, multiple secret passageways, plus a huge room of tons of bottles of magical morphing sand. Basically, like a disorienting not-quite-nightmare in house form. If it weren't for Twyla with them, the ghouls would get lost every time they visit.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: To Howleen most of the time, but also to Toralei in ''Frights, Camera, Action'' during her stint as the judge in "Cute Court".
* CreepyBlueEyes: Her G2 eye color.
* CreepyMonotone: Speaks quietly in a dull and gravelly voice.
%% * CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Post-reboot (see above).
* DeadpanSnarker: Goes with her quiet demeanor.
-->'''Draculaura:''' *after being transformed with boogey sand* Twyla, you're a genius!\
'''Twyla:''' Draculaura, you're a ghost!
* DamselInDistress: In Electrified, when Moanica locked her in a cell.
* DisabledInTheAdaptation: In the G3 reboot, Twyla is confirmed to be autistic and hypersensitive to noise, wearing noise-canceling headphones made of cobwebs to help soothe her discomfort.
* DreamStealer: A good example, as she hides under normie beds to take their nightmares and eat them, rather than adding to them like she and her father are rumored to do.
* ElegantGothicLolita: Has shades of this due to her Victorian fashion sense, but her ''Electrified'' doll plays it straight, with a huge hair bow and collar.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: G2 gives her some lighter swirls in her irises to resemble shadows.
* FriendToAllChildren: As revealed in her New Scaremester diary, Twyla is shown to be this as she is fond of eating the nightmares of children, especially those who are orphaned or in vulerable situations, since it helps makes their situations better.
* GlowingEyes: All the better to '''[[CreepyCute watch you sleep with]]'''. This also applies to all of her physical dolls before Freak du Chic--her sclerae had glow-in-the-dark paint, which was not advertised on the box, serving as a spooky surprise feature.
* HighClassGloves: Her Supercharged doll gives her one arm faded into shadow from the elbow down, rather than both fading from the wrist down, creating an [[FashionableAsymmetry asymmetrical version]] of this effect.
* LampshadeHanging: Does this occasionally, such as telling Spectra in ''Haunted'' that they've already been told they're not supposed to be on River's yacht?
* LivingShadow: Subverted. Twyla can melt into the shadows and use them for transportation, and her limbs are usually faded into shadows, but she's solid for the most part. Her various doll appearances play with the distribution of the shadows on her body, suggesting that they either shift organically or can be concentrated according to her preferences.
* MamaBear: Her pet peeve is vacuum cleaners because her pet is a literal dust bunny who would be quite vulnerable to them.
* MeaningfulName: "Twyla" is a real name that both sounds like and means "twilight", the beginning of the night. Since kids usually have early bedtimes, this is when she'd be active in the normie world.
* MythologyGag: Twyla's first G3 doll is in the "Creepover Party" line, playing into her heritage as a dream monster, and said doll happens to be wearing what is essentially a comfier pajama version of her G1 signature outfit.
* NiceGirl: Twyla is a shy but kind ghoul, and despite the animosity between monsters and humans, Twyla uses her powers to undo the nightmares her dad creates, especially those of children.
* OnlyOneName: Initially no last name had been given for her. Her Scaremester planner and Freak du Chic poster give "Boogeyman" as her last name.
* ThePigPen: Dustin is shown to be. When he tries to help Watzit clean his kennel, he only makes it dirtier.
* RedOniBlueOni: Between her and her best friend Howleen. Twyla's the blue. Their sides of the paradigm are outlined in their color schemes, too--[[ColorCodedForYourConvenience Howleen's current shock of hot pink hair and omnipresence of warm color]] [[HairContrastDuo contrast to Twyla's mellower mint, violet, indigo, black, and lavender scheme]].
* ShrinkingViolet: But if Howleen needs her, she'll be there.
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: She's shy, and both of her main hair colors are blue-toned.
* StealthHiBye: Anywhere that's dark, Twyla can and will do this.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Cobwebs and four-legged bugs.
* ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight: Comes with being the daughter of the Boogeyman. Each of her dolls has different variations on the "nightmare monster" and "creepy bedroom" motif, though each features bugs or spiderwebs in some way.
** Signature Twyla has doorknob earrings and a door knocker belt, a spiderweb dreamcatcher design on her purse and bracelet, and the heels of her platform creepers are made to resemble carved wood from antique furniture, like bedposts or closets.
** Twyla's New Scaremester outfit resembles pajamas, and her purse and portfolio are textured like damask wallpaper, which, as ''Franchise/TheHauntedMansion'' references, can often be interpreted as forming scary faces in the patterns.
** Twyla's Coffin Bean release has a spiderweb dreamcatcher-patterned outfit, that resembles pajamas.
** ''Haunted'' Twyla has bed-shaped shoes.
** Freak du Chic Twyla is a clown, invoking coulrophobia which is common in children, and her legs are extended to an [[UncannyValley uncanny level]] with stilts. Said stilts are carved in the same way as signature Twyla's heels, and the Dustin that comes with this release is [[CymbalBangingMonkey holding cymbals]].
** ''Electrified'' gives her a lolita ensemble to invoke a CreepyDoll, and her shoes have doorknobs and windows on them.
** And lastly, her pet dust bunny, Dustin, who's made from dust under the bed but also resembles a worn-out [[LivingToys plush rabbit]].
* QuirkyCurls: Her Freak du Chic doll gives her an updo of tight curls to go with her clown look.
* UnusualEars: G3 Twyla's ears give the character her first unusual sculpted detail--the outer folds of her ears connect to the side of her head by fanning out into a cobweb shape.
* VictorianLondon: She borrows her fashion sense from this era to add to her creepy-bedroom theme.

[[quoteright:306:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallcatty.PNG]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Missi Hale (13 Wishes), Karen Strassman (Boo York, Boo York)
A famous werecat pop star who decides to take a break from her music career in order to attend Monster High. She was having a huge amount of conflict and didn't believe she was feeling the emotions she was singing-- turns out when you pay a teenager to sing songs you wrote about your love life it can be creatively limiting.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Like Wydowna, she's stark black.
* AscendedExtra: Her first appearance in ''13 Wishes'' was relatively minor. Later she was a major character in several webisodes and the movie ''Boo York, Boo York''.
* CatGirl: A black cat monster.
* ConsistentClothingStyle: Catty's dolls often have a striking ostentatious quality that reflects her pop star status and feature broken mirror motifs to tie into her superstition theme.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Pink hair, pink eyes.
* FirstNameBasis: She gently reminds Billy that she is now a Monster High student and that he doesn't need to call her by her full name.
* IdolSinger: When she's seen in Boo York it causes a stampede.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: While she doesn't hate her position, she never forgets that underneath her talent and fame she is a normal ghoul and prefers to be treated as such when she attends Monster High. That's an endeavor with varying amounts of success.
* InformedAttribute: More like informed clothes, as she mentions shoes with opened-umbrella heels in her New Scaremester planner, but none of her dolls have them.
* MeaningfulName[=/=]ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: "Catty" is obvious, and "Noir" is French for "black".
* MythologyGag: Her relationship with Seth Ptolemy, since cats were sacred to the ancient Egyptians.
* OfficialCouple: With Seth... ''Pharaoh'' Ptolemy.
* OpenTheIris: In ''Boo York, Boo York'', she does this regularly. And it is ''[[CutenessOverload ADORABLE]]''.
* StandInPortrait: Utilizes this technique to hide from a fan stampede after learning it from the Disappearing Club (Twyla and Invisibilly) in "In Plain Fright".
* SymbolMotifClothing: She always wears a hint of broken mirror or silver on her clothes or, at the very least, wears patterns with shattered designs, and she'll wear the number 13 wherever she can. This highlights her belief in good luck, which in the Monster High universe comes in instances reverse to ours--[[NumerologicalMotif the number 13]], walking under ladders, seeing black cats, etc.
* TechnicolorEyes: Hot pink eyes.
* TeenIdol: 16.
* ThirteenIsUnlucky: [[InvertedTrope Seriously inverted]]! It's actually Catty's lucky number, and the series' own ArcNumber: she showed up first in the 20'''13''' special ''[[Recap/MonsterHigh13Wishes 13 Wishes]]'' and her doll was released on Friday the 13th of August 2013.
* WritersBlock: In ''Boo York, Boo York'' she grapples serious creative frustration with her music.

-->'''Voiced By:''' Stephanie Sheh
Daughter of the [[OurDragonsAreDifferent Chinese dragon]]. A cutting-edge fashion designer who's influenced by the markets and bright colors of her native Fanghai, who incorporates sharp lines and edits into her pieces. Takes design very seriously, which is why she came to study under Madame Ghostier.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Golden, scaly skin.
* TheApprentice: To Ghostier.
* CombatHaircomb: In "Tough as Scales", she throws one of the parts of her headdress to slice through a stalactite.
* ConsistentClothingStyle: Jinafire's clothing is rooted in traditional Chinese fashion with a bit of a fiery dragon edge.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Green eyes, mainly green hair.
* DraconicHumanoid: Duh.
* DragonsUpTheYinYang
* ExoticEyeDesigns: She has narrowed pupils to look reptilian, and the irises are yellow with green spike designs radiating out from the pupil.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Her original outfit displays this, with one long sleeve and one bare arm.
* HairTriggerTemper: Lost an iCoffin that way.
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: The only daughter in a family of eight children. Because of such a competitive environment, she learned to be clever to stay on top.
* MeaningfulName: 'Long' (龍, Lóng) means "dragon", and 'Jin' (金, Jīn) means 'gold'.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Her bio makes clear she's been around for at least two centuries. If you interpret scales as years, she's 1500 years old.
* PlayingWithFire: Natch. She uses it for entertainment in her Freak du Chic act.
** A little strange detail, as Chinese dragons do not normally breath fire unless [[WildMassGuessing they've been punished]].
* PointyEars: Elongated, with a scalloped lower edge.
* SilkHidingSteel: She's elegant and fashionable, but she has a fierce temper and dangerous fire powers, and is clever and resourceful. This is more literal in the case of her dolls; her silky, sleek and slinky outfits cover up a more beefy body sculpt.
* UsefulNotes/{{Shanghai}}: From "Fanghai", China.
* UnusualEyebrows: They have two points, much like Gil's.

[[folder:Skelita Calaveras]]
[[quoteright:304:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallskelita.PNG]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Laura Bailey
Daughter of [[DemBones Los]] [[{{Calacas}} Eskeletos]]. She cares deeply for her family and for their traditions, as well as her monster scaritage. She is also a proficient designer with practical roots who likes to infuse her culture and unique spirit into her work, which is a reason she came to Scaris to study under Madame Ghostier.
----
* TheApprentice: The bubbliest about her work of the three apprentices, she designs because it gives her a chance to infuse her own family heritage into her work. She continues designing after leaving Moanatella and Scaris, as well as other art fields.
* ArtisticLicenseBiology: Skelita has a nose[[note]]Though it's usually painted to look like the proper nasal cavity[[/note]] and her rib cage is contoured to resemble breasts, likely to make her outfits look more natural and to avoid implications of an anorexic body. Of course, since she's a skeleton monster and not the animate remains of a human, these features might be normal for her.
* AscendedExtra: She's a minor recurring character since her debut, but she's one of the only characters to appear in all of the other MH merchandise lines (vinyls, minis, Beast Freaky Friend, Pop!, Mega Bloks, etc.)
* AsLongAsItSoundsForeign: Her first name is essentially "skeleton" with the Spanish "-ita" added on.
* DreadfulMusician: She loves music and dancing, but can't carry a tune herself.
* ConsistentClothingStyle: Skelita's clothing is influenced heavily by traditional Mexican attire and often incorporates bone motifs, vibrant colors, and flowers.
* FacialMarkings: Based on Dia de los Muertos sugar skulls, with airbrushed swirled designs, and lined lips with extended tooth patterns, and varying makeup. The majority of her dolls have blue eyeshadow and star designs around her eyes, but Art Class gives her lavender eyeshadow with pink flower patterns, and the collector's doll has flower patterns and her usual designs done in white, which are picked out by grey masking.
* FamilyHonor: If there's anything she cares about deeply, it's her family.
* FlowerMotifs: Marigolds, the flower of the dead and a big symbol in Dia de los Muertos.
* GlasgowGrin: Her makeup invokes this by extending her mouth with a [[ScaryStitches stitch]] or tooth-like design.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has some cracks in her pelvic bones.
* InformedFlaw: We've never heard her supposedly atrocious singing voice.
* InterspeciesFriendship: Her relationship with the normie kids she hangs out with for Day of the Dead, as, even when her grandmother (who always brought her), cannot attend, her pathway to the human world opens anyway, as her friends call her back for her kindness.
* UsefulNotes/{{Mexico}}: From "Hexico" and based on the heritage of character designer Natalie Villegas.
* MeaningfulName: Crosses with BilingualBonus: her last name means "skulls", in reference to the famous sugar skulls of the holiday.
* MementoMacGuffin: Her basic release necklace: created from a volcanic gem as a symbol of familial love, and passed down for ten generations counting her.
* NewTransferStudent: After leaving Scaris, she attends Monster High and becomes a large part of its arts department.
* NonMammalianHair: A skeleton monster with a very nice head of wavy hair.
* NonMammalMammaries: She's a ''skeleton'', but her body still has to fit the fashion dress template. To this end, her doll's upper ribs are rounded to mimic a bust.
* OrangeBlueContrast: Her Scarnival outfit gives her blue accents with a mostly orange-and-red ensemble, and her Art Class hair has a blue section and an orange one.
* ThePowerOfLove: This calls the family necklace back to the Calaveras family after thieves tried to take it.
* ShownTheirWork: Real sugar skulls have a name carved in the back, that of the deceased they represent. Under Skelita's hair, the name "Katrina" is molded on the back of her skull (which is a reference to a major Mexican figure in Dia de los Muertos, La Catrina).
* SymbolMotifClothing: Marigolds, sugar skulls, and [[MaskedLuchador lucha libre masks]].
* VaguenessIsComing: Her freaky flaw, though instead of sensing evil she senses vague good things.
* VisualPun: Her heavyset grandmother is literally big-boned.

After being kidnapped and forced to design for Moanatella Ghostier's fashion lines in the catacombs, he was freed and reunited with Goyle by the ghouls. Son of [[OurGargoylesRock gargoyles]].
----
* BerserkButton: It's revealed in the Daneshvari ''Ghoulfriends'' book series that in contrast to Rochelle, he does not like pigeons. Yet, he is a LivingStatue--so he has good reason not to.
* TheBusCameBack: Mentioned in Rochelle's diaries, left in the dark for a while, and returned in the special, and left for a little while after that before finally getting a doll in a date pack with Rochelle.
* EveryoneLooksSexierIfFrench
* EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench: His bio and speech is liberally peppered with French words, but he ''is'' French, so it's justified.
* ThePerfectionist: In regards to his fashion design. He considers it an advantage.
* SomethingAboutARose: Is proficient enough at gardening to cultivate a special breed of black rose for Rochelle, and even designs a dress for her themed on them.
* TalkingToPlants: He does this with his roses at times.
* UnusualEars: They're like Rochelle's wing-like ears, but they're located where a human's would be.

[[quoteright:290:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallghostier.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Cindy Robinson
A famous fashion designer, the BigBad of ''Scaris: City of Frights'', and the monster responsible for Garrott's disappearance. She has designed for so long that she ran out of ideas on her own, which is bad news for her: without constant attention, she literally fades away. To stave that off, she decided to start using up-and-coming designers to sustain her brand... by locking them up and forcing them to design for her until they run out of ideas, too. This racket gets found out by the ghouls, and she's upstaged so well by the designers she tried to kidnap that she [[DeaderThanDead disappears for good]].
----
* BadBoss: Quick to make jabs at her prospective apprentices, and has no qualms with leaving her actual apprentices for dead if the skeleton next to Garrott's cell was any indication.
* BigBad: Of ''Scaris: City of Frights''.
* FogFeet: Part of her ghostly attributes.
* FrenchJerk
* GladIThoughtOfIt: She takes this trope up to ''onze''.
* GratuitousFrench: In many of her lines. She ''is'' French, so this is justified.
* HighClassGloves: Black ones, with a shawl and dress.
* HartmanHips: A very slinky black dress accentuates her figure, and she seems to straight up have no feet.
* IcyBlueEyes: A hint that she's not very sympathetic.
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: She fades away onscreen, leaving behind her mewing, bewildered cat.
* LargeHam: Her personality cannot be contained to clothing and body language alone.
-->'''Moanatella:''' You ''thought''? Impossible, ''infantile'',''' ''primitive'''''!
* LittleBlackDress: A floor-length halter-top one.
* ManipulativeBitch: Fools designers into believing she wants them to be her apprentice. When she chooses one she locks them in the Scarisian catacombs and forces them to design for her until they run out of ideas, after which she scouts for their successor.
* NoblewomansLaugh: Gives one of these to try and save face when Clawdeen hijacks her show.
* OurSpiritsAreDifferent: Can float, [[{{Intangibility}} move through objects]], and has a strange condition that will make her disappear if she isn't having enough attention paid to her. [[FamilyUnfriendlyDeath Which the monster gang takes advantage of.]]
* PunnyName: On the names of two fashion designers: ''Donatella'' Versace and Jean Paul ''Gaultier''.
* RightHandCat: A black one was always seen with her, and is left behind when she disappears.

----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Bluish green.
* CreepyDoll: Performs as a marionette for the Freak du Chic, and has makeup reflecting this.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Diamond-shaped reptilian pupils.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Lavender and purple feature in all her released outfits (and for Freak du Chic, it's the main color of her hair).
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: Sharp teeth protrude out from between her lips, resembling those of a bayou gator and are also CuteLittleFangs. As with Venus, the special/webisode animators seem to forget this; giving her flat teeth and more egregiously ''[[NoFlowInCGI interpreting the sharp teeth as a pattern on her lipstick]]''.
* MonsterClown: One aspect of her Freak du Chic appearance, giving new context to her [[FunnyAfro hairstyle]] and making her a balloon artist.
* NeverSmileAtACrocodile: Part of her inspiration, with gator-like teeth, reptilian eyes, webbed hands, and spines down her back. She also has two literal alligator purses, and her preliminary name was [[PunnyName Allie Gator]].
* OlderThanTheyLook: 115 years old.
* ThePerfectionist: With her filmmaking: she goes over and exhaustively explores numerous film ideas to get the perfect one, and will creep through any locale to get the perfect shot.
* PlantPerson: Has hints of this, due to her swamp origins. Her outfits feature swamp plants, and her body is covered in curling vine designs.
* SeashellBra: Subverted; it's her underwear that's shell-shaped.
* SilkHidingSteel: As she mentions herself, she's sweet, polite and feminine but strong and capable.
* SouthernBelle: Complete with mannerisms.
* SouthernFriedGenius: A Goreleans drawl and an acute knowledge of filming equipment and film history, and single handedly films an expert-quality underwater scene under pressure.
* SwampsAreEvil: Her monster basis, encompassing both the plant and animal life of a spooky swamp.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Swamp flowers and vines.

[[quoteright:311:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallclawdia.PNG]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Jonquil Goode
Older sister to all of the Wolf siblings introduced so far, Clawdia's a funny and quick-thinking writer who's studying at college in Londoom to become a Hauntlywood screenwriter.
----
%% * BlackAndNerdy
* CoolBigSis: Frequently writes to and chats online with her siblings to check up on them, and does her best to offer good advice, and makes a point to keep up with Howleen and sends her her latest outrageous stories.
** [[AllThereInTheManual In her basic release diary]] after a group online chat checking up on her siblings, Clawd asks to speak with her solo. When she does, she learns he's sincerely terrified he'll lose Draculaura after she joins vamp royalty--he thinks he's losing "his best friend". Clawdia can see he looks like hell from how worried he is about her. He ends the call early with [[IHaveToGoIronMyDog an excuse about sports]], cementing her determination to get to the bottom of the situation. The entire encounter really throws Clawd's goofy behavior in the special into a different light. He was acting like that to keep Draculaura happy.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: She has blonde hair and SupernaturalGoldEyes.
* CuteClumsyGirl: Admittedly, the one member of the Wolf family with no athletic ability.
* CuteLittleFangs: Prominently shown off by her grin.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Was first mentioned in Twyla's 2013 basic release diary.
* GoldMakesEverythingShiny: Gold hair, eyes, dress, and shoes in basic release.
* LadyInRed: A red blazer and knee-highs in her basic release.
* MostWritersAreWriters: A practicing screenwriter, with a few high-profile clients already.
* NerdGlasses: Thick-lensed rounded ones on her signature doll, and more elegant square ones for her second.
* PerpetualSmiler: In doll form, due to her facial mold's wide grin.
* PunnyName: Of "Claudia".
* StatuesqueStunner: About the same height as Nefera, considering she uses the Big Sister mold for her doll.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Like her family members, she has yellow-gold eyes.
* TallTale: In "Tales From The Script", it's shown that she regularly writes really wild ones in letters to Howleen, which are read to the school... but Clawd and Clawdeen think Howleen believes them. They attempt to stop her from seemingly embarrassing herself while reading out the letters in front of a crowd, only for her to set them both straight, and for them to leave embarrassed instead.

[[quoteright:299:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallviperine.PNG]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Yeni Alvarez
Daughter of Stheno and Deuce's cousin, she's an up-and-coming celebrity makeup artist from [[{{UsefulNotes/Spain}} Barcelgroana]] working for Elissabat. She's given many high-end jobs for models and celebs, [[NonIdleRich but it doesn't mean she's too haughty to do makeup for elder monsters in her downtime]]-- she's happy whenever she can do her magic with makeup.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Lemon chiffon skin with a slight shimmer.
* ConsistentClothingStyle: Viperine's fashion is firmly seventies in style, with all of her dolls having long center-parted hair that gets paired with other features like headbands, wide sunglasses, and loosely-flowing dresses and psychedelic patterns for a bohemian look.
* CoolShades: The pink ones she sports in her basic and Ghoulebrities in Londoom release.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Reptilian pink eyes, and streaks of pink hair.
* CuteLittleFangs: Unlike the other two Gorgons, these are visible on her dolls.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Her irises have silver sparkling centers and she has very narrowed snake pupils.
* FacialMarkings: She has a pink diamond-scale pattern on her forehead, much like the one Deuce has on his left shoulder.
* GorgeousGorgon: While not unattractive, she's a lot snakier than Deuce, though she also has humanlike hair in addition to snakes.
* GratuitousSpanish: Considering that she ''is'' Spanish, it's not a surprise.
* MyFriendsAndZoidberg: While she's fairly renowned herself, the Londoom pack of Elissabat, Catty, and Viperine places her at the bottom, with the box describing the trio as "The queen, the pop star, and the ghoul who makes them look good".
* PointyEars: They're flat and elongated.
* PrehensileHair: The snake parts, at least. One of them forms a headband on her signature doll, and they're also shown to be handy makeup assistants.
* SssssnakeTalk: To a degree.
* TakenForGranite: Averted in a case of ShownTheirWork. Medusa was usually said to be the only Gorgon who had a petrifying gaze; her sisters weren't. Thus, Viperine only wears her shades for fashion purposes and is perfectly fine without them.
* TheSeventies: Dresses in a bohemian hippie style, with flowy dresses, of her snakes forming a headband, and simple pastel outfit patterns. Her second doll has Skullette-shaped peace sign earrings.
* TechnicolorEyes: Light pink irises with sparkly silver in the middle and serpentine pupils.

-->'''Voiced By:''' Karen Strassman
Originally a vampiress lined up to be queen, she fled the court after realizing machinations against her. 400 years later she's found in hiding as Veronica Von Vamp, a famous Hauntlywood actress. She takes her rule back after being found out and promises to change the vampire world for the better... not giving up her acting, of course.
----
* AwesomeMomentOfCrowning: It happens in ''Frights, Camera Action'' when she regains her position as queen, and it's double awesome for Draculaura finally getting her full vampire powers at the same time.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Pale purple.
* IAmVeryBritish: Has a British accent.
* BloodyHorror: Since she's a bit more gothic and not explicitly anti-blood, her dolls vaguely allude to it with her signature droplet earrings and her later dolls' usage of conspicuous bright red colors among her typical dark purple and black.
* CallingTheOldManOut: Kicks Uncle Stoker off the Hauntlywood lot and out of the vampire court for his schemes.
-->'''Elissabat:''' Lord Stoker, for your crimes against the vampire crown, you are banished from ever holding official office. Boys, show him the street.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Draculaura.
* CriticalDissonance: [[invoked]] She discusses this phenomenon and wishes she could have a popular and successful film that also does well with the critics.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Initially flew the coop after realizing what the crown would've been under Stoker's indirect control--a tyrannical regime of vampire supremacist subjugation which flew in the face of what her and Dracula had been trying to prevent. When she realizes Draculaura has been chosen as a puppet ruler, she decides to do something to protect her friend.
* DramaticIrony: Draculaura doesn't like Veronica von Vamp's film work, considering her a sellout for the inaccurate films she stars in. Of course, she isn't aware that von Vamp is actually her old friend.
* ElegantGothicLolita: All outfits sport flairs of Lolita style, like bows, ribbons, and lace. She also carries herself with great elegance.
* TheGlassesGottaGo: Part of her disguise, as she used to look quite similar to a stereotypical nerd complete with braces.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Purple hair, outfits, and (arguably) skin.
* InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals: She's practically a purple version of Draculaura, and they were often mistaken as sisters. The dolls themselves do have different face molds, but they're very similar.
* KingIncognito: Her major plot point in "Frights, Camera, Action".
** A smaller example in "Master of Hiss-guise", she comes to Monster High as a "normal everyday student" to do research for a new film. Thanks to Clawd she gets found out, and [[DraggedIntoDrag he's made to dress up as her to divert attention]].
* ModestRoyalty: She may be the vampire queen, but she isn't above hawking cake pops at the MH Ghoul Fair or going on an island vacation with her friends.
* NerdGlasses: She wore a chunky black pair of these with tape on the bridge and braces-- [[AnachronismStew 500 years ago]]. This is also part of her disguise when she pretends to attend MH.
* OlderThanTheyLook: She's 1,601.
* PaperThinDisguise: When attempting to pass as an unremarkable new student at MH. Everyone buys it until [[LooseLips Draculaura]] [[PuppyDogEyes tells Clawd]] and soon, the whole school knows.
* PaletteSwap: Invoked to highlight her similarities to Draculaura. While Draculaura's hair accent color is pink and her eyes are purple, Elissabat's hair accent is purple and her eyes are pink.
* PointyEars: Much like Draculaura's.
* PowerGlows: The Vampire's Heart: the ancient artifact that glows in her presence and marks her as the true vampire queen.
* PunnyName: On [[UsefulNotes/ElizabethI "Elizabeth"]] and "bat".
* RebelliousPrincess: She was destined to rule the vampires, but upon realizing her uncle wanted to instill her in a puppet regime ran away with the help of Dracula and Hexiciah Steam.
* TechnicolorEyes: Pink on her doll.
* TookALevelInBadass: The reason she originally fled was that she felt too weak to go against Stoker, but when the ghouls find her again there's no such luck for him.
* {{Retraux}}: Her Londoom outfit has some Brit-retro themes to it, being a bit schoolgirl-ish but retaining touches of her Victorian lolita style.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Shown to take her rule quite seriously, and knows fully of her obligation to her people.
* WhatTheHellIsThatAccent: Her voice seems to have a slightly British affectation, but it's not clear exactly what accent it is.

When she returns to the castle with him (her ghoulfriends in tow), he reveals his plans to instill her as a puppet ruler and return vampires to what he perceives as their former glory. When Draculaura relates his plan to the ghouls, they find the real vampire heart and thus the real queen-- who promptly has him arrested.
----
* BigBad: Of ''Frights, Camera, Action''.
* EvilUncle: Natch.
* FantasticRacism: Part of the reason he wants to control the queen is because he wants to ensure the supremacy of vampires.
* FatAndSkinny: With Ygor.
* TheIgor: There's a dude who follows him around named [[SpellMyNameWithAnS Ygor]].
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Prooobably wouldn't have had an issue taking the throne if Draculaura's friends hadn't been with her to nurse her insecurity.
* OminousOperaCape: Typical costume for a vampire, but here it's more sinister.
* ShoutOut: His name's one to Bram Stoker.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: The other vampires' eyes are milder- another warning sign.
* TwitchyEye: Gets this repeatedly: when he realizes he said too much, and when Draculaura's testing his patience while distracting him.
* WeCanRuleTogether: His proposition to first Elissabat, then to Draculaura. Turned down both times.

* HybridMonster: Shares this trait with Avea, Sirena and Bonita.
* TheIdealist: To Avea's cynicist: he's the most hopeful out of the 4 for the move.

* MeaningfulName: Sounds like "Nathan", but may also invoke "Thanatos", making his first name "death horse".
* NiceGuy: Sensitive and wants to become a psychologist to help other monsters like him deal with their dual natures. He is also willing to sacrifice a position at MH to let his friends get in, though Bloodgood assures him that it won't be necessary.
* PutMeInCoach: In "Graveball Gates", Neighthan is sidelined to healing team injuries because of his clumsiness. However, when Manny goes down, Neighthan is sent out to heal him, and accidentally ends up scoring the winning touchdown. Clawd then asks him to join the team.
* ShipTease: With Frankie in ''Freaky Fusion''.

* FeatherMotif: Due to her harpy heritage. Besides her wings, she has feathers on her hat, feather eyelashes, and feathers on her waist, arms, and fetlocks.
* HybridMonster: Shares this trait with Bonita, Sirena and Neighthan.
* IcyBlueEyes: She's a bit mistrustful of others at first, but she comes around.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Acts rude at first but it's only because she's used to her and her friends being not accepted by and kicked out of all the other schools they've gone to in the past. She warms up a bit when she sees that Monster High is different, and helps Draculaura and Robecca adjust to their fused form.
* MeaningfulName: Derived from "avian" (birdlike), and "trotter", a term for a hoof.
* TooManyBelts: She has a belt which turns into equestrian riding straps across her lower body.
* TrainingFromHell: How she whips the fused Robecca and Draculaura into shape, citing their over-politeness and subsequent lack of initiative.

* BigCreepyCrawlies: Has moth antennae, insectoid eyes, moth fur, and huge wings.
* ClothingDamage: Self-induced, as she gnaws on them during her frequent bouts of nerves. Her signature outfit is already a bit ratty and moth-eaten.
* DemBones: Has skeletal lips, arms, and upper body, and her wings emerge from a ribcage.
* HairyGirl: The lower half of her body is covered in fuzzy moth fur.
* HybridMonster: Shares this trait with Avea, Sirena and Neighthan as the daughter of the Mothman and a skeleton.
* NervousWreck: Due to being part moth. In this world the Mothman is more like an actual moth-creature than an EldritchAbomination, and is also a night patrolman.
* UnusualEars: She has moth antennae on top of her head in lieu of ears.
* VisualPun: Because she's a moth and a skeleton, she has a humanoid interpretation of "exoskeleton"- that is, an exposed ribcage above her moth lower body.

-->'''Kiyomi:''' Staring? I wasn't staring! I don't even have a face!
* CherryBlossomGirl: Pink hair, a ghost, and blossoms feature heavily in her clothes and accessories.
* ColorCodedEmotions: Changes colors based on how she's feeling. For example: the minute she recognizes Draculaura, whom she had been haunting, she turns green with shame or fear.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Since her face is merely a projection that can disappear at will, her eyes are faint white outlines.
* GratuitousJapanese: Her bio is peppered with this. {{Justified|Trope}}, as she ''is'' Japanese.
* INeverSaidItWasPoison: She mentions the boogey sand the ghouls used to transform into ghosts, revealing that she had been the one haunting Draculaura.
* IrritationIsTheSincerestFormOfFlattery: She evolves from a morose wallflower into a peppy and popular diva by copying Draculaura. At the end of the movie, she learns her lesson and even gets a hug from Draculaura.
* JapanesePoliteness: Dislikes complaining, which she views as rude and dishonorable.
* FakeNationality: Her voice actor is not Japanese.
* PointyEars: Slightly pointed to highlight her otherworldly nature, even by ghost standards.
* SailorFuku: The collar of her dress is inspired by this, a nod to her Japanese heritage.
* ShrinkingViolet: She used to be this, but has become more outgoing lately, surprising Spectra. In her diary it's revealed that she's gained confidence, as well as a new fashion sense, from spying on Draculaura and friends and imitating them. Her favorite color, purple, likely reflects this.
* SpockSpeak: She writes like this, likely a result of her bilingual nature. Speaking, though, she doesn't exhibit it.
* SymbolMotifClothing: All of her accessories have faces, probably to make up for the lack of her own.
* ThinkingUpPortals: A power she discovers shortly before the events of the film.
* {{Tuckerization}}: Named after Kiyomi Haverly, a Creator/{{Mattel}} employee.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Kiyomi started haunting Draculaura out of admiration and a desire to emulate her. Unfortunately, her actions alert the ghouls to a disturbance in the Ghost World, kicking off the plot of ''Haunted''.
* {{Youkai}}: Noppera-bĹŤ are a type of faceless ghost from Japan, that sometimes imitate other people's faces to play tricks. Which makes sense when you consider she's been copying Draculaura lately, including her fashion sense and outgoing personality.

[[folder:River Styxx]]
[[quoteright:262:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/riversmall.PNG]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Ashley Peterson
The peppy daughter of [[TheGrimReaper the Grim Reaper]] who can transport beings between the main world and the ghost world. Currently a [[{{Pun}} Reaper In Preparation]], and is allowed a staff without a blade.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Purple shimmering skin, with translucent purple forearms and legs.
** Which happens to be the color of death in Asia.
* CreepyCrows: Her pet, Cawtion.
* DemBones: While she has skin, her arms and legs are translucent, revealing the bones within, and her face appears to just be a bit of skin stretched over a skull, with no ears, skeletal lips, and a nose darkened in the shape of a nasal cavity. Judging by Monster High's guidance counselor (who is implied to be the exiled cousin of her father mentioned in her diary), reapers are fully skeletal when mature. River's pet crow is also stated to be skeletal.
* DontFearTheReaper: Lively, kind, and gregarious.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Light blue eyes and mostly light blue hair.
* {{Expy}}: She's always cheery, her favorite food is sweets, and she loves parties to the point that she has confetti cannons installed on her (dad's) ship. Very similar to [[Characters/FriendshipIsMagicPinkiePie another character]] from [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic another very popular]] CashCowFranchise aimed at girls.
* FunWithAcronyms: '''R'''eaper '''I'''n '''P'''reparation.
* GlasgowGrin: Like Skelita, her mouth extends past her lips with toothy markings, making her look more bone than skin.
* InnocentBlueEyes: It goes with her pastel theme to let you know she's not really scary after all.
* MythologyGag: Named after the River Styx in [[Myth/ClassicalMythology Greek mythology]], which is the river new ghosts are boated down to enter the Underworld. She fills a similar role to Styx boatman Charon, providing transport from the world of solids to the ghost world (who is actually her uncle)
* OminousOperaCape: Made of black mesh, with a very cute clasp.
* PerkyGoth: Kid of a Reaper, with a sweet tooth and a love for pastel colors.
* {{Psychopomp}}: Since her dad's away, she boats the ghouls into the ghost world.
* SinisterScythe: Subverted. While she doesn't have one on her staff yet, her shoes' heels are scythe blades.
* StealthHiBye: Tends to do this on accident, which startles and annoys other monsters. River doesn't see why it's a problem, though.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Chain bows appear everywhere in her ensemble.
* TemptingFate: In her diary (written before the movie), among the list of guidelines her father left for her before leaving for a reaper convention in Las Plague-as is don't use the boat to transport solids (aka living ghouls). She ends up laughing at it. Guess what happens during her introduction?
* VoiceOfTheLegion: Her "ominous voice" (it even spooks Vandala) which she uses on the ghouls after finding them on her boat. She drops it when she sees they're friendly.
-->'''River:''' ''[[PowerMakesYourVoiceDeep YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!]]''
-->''[Ghouls scream]''
-->'''River:''' Seriously, I don't think you're supposed to be here.

[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallpng.PNG]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/ToddHaberkorn
The artistic son of poltergeists. A rebellious kid, he enjoys evading the HH hall moanitors and spraying graffiti with transient "ghost paint". Also has a thing for Spectra, and in the movie refurnishes and gives her a very nice, and very toyetic desk.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Slime green.
* CantGetAwayWithNuthin: He almost always gets caught painting, even though his art disappears quickly enough.
* FakeDefector: Gives up the ghouls' location to Revenant and the Moanitors so he can nab the device that controls the detention chains. They don't learn this until after he gets his legs slapped by Aye.
* GraffitiOfTheResistance: His calling at HH. Even makes a pastiche of the iconic OBEY graffiti.
* [[MadArtist Rebellious Graffiti Artist]]: Even if his art goes away quickly, he's still technically vandalizing school property. He firmly believes that he doesn't deserve to be penalized at ''all'' for drawing all over HH.
* HeroicSacrifice: He agrees to take the chains of everybody wrongly punished at HH in order to stop Revenant.
* NiceGuy: Is friendly to Kiyomi, and even spray-paints a touching haiku about her.
* RealMenWearPink: He's an artist, in both the literal and parkour type way. He literally wears pink, as well, with a pastel-themed paint-drip shirt.
* ShipTease: With Spectra.
* ShoutOut: Two in his graffiti:
** The orange fist is one to VideoGame/RedFaction.
** A portrait of Revenant with "OBEY" underneath is a reference to Film/TheyLive and the Andre Lives graffiti campaign in the 1980s it inspired.
* TechnicolorEyes: Bright blue with green sclerae.

[[folder:Principal Revenant AKA The Red Lady]]
[[quoteright:348:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallrevenant.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Karen Strassman
The Principal of Haunted High. As the Red Lady she went after various monsters and conducted fierce hauntings, but in doing so amassed a large amount of "detention chains"-- the indestructible but transferrable chains given to baddie ghosts --and was subsequently trapped in her own home in the Ghost World. Seeing how large her home was, she transformed it into a school and formed a plan to transfer all her chains to the students under the guise of punishment. There still weren't enough students to reasonably chain up, so she had the Hall Moanitors begin kidnapping ghosts from other schools (beginning with Spectra). This brings some of the MH kids to the school to investigate and rescue Spectra, and along with some of her old friends they find out Revenant's old identity and plan. After a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech (courtesy of Spectra) she realizes that she'll never be able to push all her chains on others, and [[HeelFaceTurn regretfully asks the students to accept her as principal knowing what she's done]] so she'll be able to truly earn her freedom. They forgive her, and the boundaries between the Ghost World and solid world are lifted.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Periwinkle.
* BigBad: Of ''Haunted''.
* ChildHater: Implied. Let's be real. If kidnapping only children and using them to carry your imprisoning chains for you doesn't scream hating a child, then nothing will.
* HartmanHips: This is part of her figure.
* HeelFaceTurn: She realizes her errors and takes back her punishments for herself, vowing to work off the chains honorably.
* HoistByTheirOwnPetard: It would have been better for her to wait out her sentence peacefully rather than craft another scheme. Now, she has even more chains to work off--a link at a time.
* LargeHam: Being a famed villain will do that, even when undercover.
* PickOnSomeoneYourOwnSize: Kidnapping and isolating monster children to shirk your chains definitely counts.
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: The Hall Moanitors, which include Present, Past and Future. The three are also a BigThinShortTrio: with Present as the short, Past as the big, and Future as the thin. If you didn't guess, they're expies of the infamous spirits of Literature/AChristmasCarol.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Combined with GlowingEyesOfDoom, when she's revealed as the Red Lady.
* EvilBrit: She has a British accent.
* TechnicolorEyes: Has these for most of the movie to heighten her spooky factor, and also to show how she's become benevolent after her scheme's been thwarted.

!!''[[Recap/MonsterHighBooYorkBooYork Boo York, Boo York]]''

[[folder:Boo Yorkers General Tropes]]
* BigApplesauce: They love Boo York, but for different reasons. Luna loves the lights and theatre, Elle loves the sense of community and constantly developing music, and Mouscedes has deep roots.
* ChromaticArrangement: Elle, Luna, and Mouscedes are based on the primary colors, with Elle being blue, Luna being red, and Mouscedes being yellow. This is most clearly exhibited by their diary covers. The metallic accents of the "City Schemes" dolls also count. Nefera's theme is gold, and Catty's is silver.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: All of the dolls in the line (save for the City Ghouls 3-pack) have shimmery skin to tie into the comet motif.
* RuleOfThree: Their concepts and outfits correspond to the three states of time. Mouscedes, who hails from a classic fairy tale and wears 1900s socialite attire, represents the past, Luna's the daughter of an enduring cryptid legend, and has a very bold and modern look, representing the present, and Elle is a sci-fi concept with cool-toned shiny electronic outfits, thus, she represents the future.

[[quoteright:243:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallelle.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Erin Fitzgerald
The daughter of robots from Boo York, and a popular electronic dance music DJ. Can pick up on distress signals.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Shimmery grey. Notably, she's the only City Ghoul to have the shimmer, implying that it's a natural feature for her, as it's just a special embellishment for all of the others.
* ElectronicEyes: Hers look like camera apertures.
* ElectronicSpeechImpediment: In ''Boo York, Boo York'', she starts fritzing out when she picks up Astranova's signals. And while she's [=DJ=]ing the Gala and begins jittering up... [[AllPartOfTheShow the crowd thinks she's still instructing their dancing and follows her moves]].
* EverythingIsAnIpodInTheFuture: White, evenly constructed, and shiny compared to the older gynoid Robecca.
* {{Hologram}}: Uses a holographic soundboard interface to DJ.
* {{Irony}}: Although she's a talented DJ, she's not built to be able to dance without wearing out and shutting down.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Her physical dolls don't lean on it as much as ''integrate'' it. Her factory-manufacturing stamp is moved to her leg and breaks the molded plating details to make the stamp a canonical feature, adding to her artificiality.
* PimpedOutCape: Her gala dress has a see-through cape with a circuit-board pattern.
* PowerCrystal: While not functional, her crystalline accessories reference this for her futuristic theme.
* PunnyName: Her name is a pun on LED[[note]]Light-emitting diode[[/note]], a type of light or display commonly used in 21st century devices.
* RidiculouslyHumanRobot: With the occasional snag in programming, due to catching stray alien distress signals.
* RobotHair: Yeah. Maybe it's partially fiber-optic.
* RobotGirl: A more futuristic variety than [[SteamPunk Robecca]].
* SelfDeprecation[=/=]LampshadeHanging: When [=DJing=], she jokes that the Robot is the only dance she can do. Considering that she malfunctions if she moves too quickly, she's pretty much correct.
* SpockSpeak: She speaks in a conversational, casual tone but her diary and bio have a hint of this.
* TronLines: On her body and face. Usually they glow blue, rhythmically flashing with her speech. They rapidly change color when she starts glitching out.
* UnusualEars: Hers are speakers/microphones.
* UnusualEyebrows: Hers break up into even rectangles at the inner ends, which is reminiscent of the ''Franchise/BackToTheFuture'' logo.

[[quoteright:243:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallluna.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Lauren Weisman
The daughter of the Mothman who came from Boo Jersey to become a Bloodway star. Considers herself a [[{{Goth}} goth-moth]], and is drawn to the lights and fame of the big city.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Yellow.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Light can cause this for her, as demonstrated twice in her diary where her hand slips due to Elle's laser light show.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: Daughter of the Mothman, complete with antennae, compound eyes, feathery ears, and an exoskeletal body.
* CoolCrown: Her gala outfit includes a face-framing crystalline butterfly tiara.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Red and black in both eyes and hair.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Her pupils are textured like compound eyes. On top of that, she has eyelashes shaped like insect legs.
* GirlishPigtails: Both of her dolls have this style.
* HartmanHips: Maybe not as visible in the movie, but her body mold has a pretty curvaceous shape. [[FridgeBrilliance This is probably to give her a bit of "abdomen".]]
* InstantCostumeChange: Changes from caterer uniform to ostentatious Bloodway costume with a quick flying spin. It's so impressive that [[TheFashionista Clawdeen]] wants to learn how to do it.
* {{Joisey}}: From Boo Jersey, not far from Boo York.
* MacabreMothMotif: In a cute way. Besides her outfit, she has huge compound-textured eyes, antennae, feathery ears, and plated skin.
* NonindicativeName: Named for the luna moth, but doesn't resemble one, instead being based on the hornet moth (her body) and cecropia moth (her outfit).
* PerkyGoth: Peppy, loud, and a fan of black clothing with splashes of red.
* ThePollyanna: Luna can put a positive spin on just about anything. Having to wear a ridiculous costume in a petty advertising gig? She couldn't care less, since it's just one step on the road to Bloodway stardom.
* TechnicolorEyes: Red, but not in [[RedEyesTakeWarning the threatening way]].
* UnusualEars: They're shaped and textured to evoke a moth's antennae.
* UnusualEyebrows: They're styled after antennae.
* WingedHumanoid: She has big orange and black butterfly-like wings.

[[quoteright:243:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallmouscedes.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Rachel Staman
The wealthy and influential daughter of the [[Theatre/TheNutcracker Rat King]], but generally nice -- if you're in her sort of crowd.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: According to her, her father is a victim of fairy tales, not an actual villain.
* CoolCrown: Her gala doll has a proper socialite's tiara.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Long salmon pink hair, with salmon pink eyes.
* EmeraldPower: She's a city princess who wears green crystalline accessories.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Her doll's eyes are made to look like they're staring off to each side, reflecting the wider-set eyes of rodents.
* GorgeousPeriodDress: Her gala outfit is a 1900s-style lady's outfit with some art-deco influences.
* HairyGirl: She has some molded fur on her wrists and ankles.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Subverted. Reading her diary, one would think she's a Horrible Judge of Character based on her positive first impressions of Nefera, but she's quick to realize the game she's playing and understands that she's not as nice as she lets on. She's also able to detect Cleo's unhappiness despite her polite manner.
* {{Irony}}: She's a rat who's lactose-intolerant. (Though actually, rodents ''are'' lactose intolerant, so they should only be eating cheese as a treat.)
* PunnyName: Her name Mouscedes is based on the real-life name Mercedes.
* {{Socialite}}: A kid version. She's a Boo York royalty who loves expensive designer clothes and hobnobbing with the upper crust.
* SpoiledSweet: She's a shopaholic princess with a love for the royal life, she is a genuinely nice ghoul who refuses to let cab drivers take advantage of tourists and she always donates her old clothes to charity. She also makes sure to uphold a good image for the rats in Boo York.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Swiss cheese-inspired patterns and mouse skulls.
* TechnicolorEyes: Pink.
* VerbalTic: She tends to make a squeaking/hiccupping sound while she speaks.
* YouDirtyRat: Averted. She gets annoyed when people stereotype her family as plague animals or disreputable.

An alien who comes from the rare and magical Crystal Comet, but the one that's in the movie is actually a SleeperShip. Her purpose for coming to Boo York is to retrieve a missing comet piece after she gets too far from home.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Indigo skin, and sparkly. A later release changed it to a light lilac.
* AncientAstronauts: What her race was to the MH universe's Egyptians.
* ApocalypticLog: She came out fine, but the diary that comes with her doll reveals she's actually accidentally way far from her home planet.
* BizarreAlienBiology: A completely faceted/polygonal body, no toes, huge eyes, and three fingers on her hands.
* CameFromTheSky: Her spaceship has been orbiting in stasis for a while now, and she finally gets to land safely at the end.
* DistressCall: The six-note sound that comes from her spaceship. It becomes a leitmotif and part of ''Boo York, Boo York'''s final song, "Shooting Stars".
* ExoticEyeDesigns: 8-point-stars in her eyes.
* {{Herald}}: Keeps contact with Raven Queen and Apple White of Toys/EverAfterHigh, having been on a mission to confirm the existence of Monster High. She reports back to them in TheStinger of ''Boo York, Boo York''.
-->'''Astranova''': Monster High! It's real!\
'''Apple White''': Ooh! Fableous!
* IChooseToStay: After landing from her comet, she decides to stay at Monster High.
* InnocentBlueEyes: She's a nice alien, so this applies.
* [[GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe Indigo Skinned Space Babe]]: Or mauve, in the later release.
* MeaningfulName: "Astranova" means "new star" , which is fitting for both a young cosmic being and a budding musician.
* GlamRock: One of her favorite things and an inspiration for her style.
* PowerFloats: And makes others float too!
* PowerGlows: Sets the city aglow with her ship's fragments.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Similar to Catty's mirror shards, Astranova has a theme of crystalline comet accessories.

In the events of ''Boo York, Boo York'', he finds love with Catty and finally gets to live his dream out of his mother's watch.
----
* ArrangedMarriage: His mother and the De Niles try to manipulate him into one with Cleo.
* CoolMask: While with his mother, he wears a solid gold one emulating King Tutankhamen's iconic funerary accessory.
* DeadpanSnarker: Shades of this.
-->'''Catty:''' So... where did you learn to [[FunWithHomophones rap]] like that?\
'''Seth:''' Well, I don't know how to tell you this... [[CaptainObvious but I'm a mummy]].
* DoNotCallMePaul: He prefers to be called '''Pharaoh''', not Seth Ptolemy.
* {{Guyliner}}: Heavy black eyeliner, justified with being from AncientEgypt.
* OfficialCouple: with Catty Noir.
* RebelPrince: Referred to as the "Prince of Boo York", he rejects his mother's plans to instill him as a mega-rich mega-powerful king of a dynasty to pursue his music. Raps about it, too.
* SharpDressedMan: When not dressed as Pharaoh, he dons a black tux with gold accents thematically similar to his mother's suit.
* ToylessToylineCharacter: A prominent case after other key male characters getting dolls, including in movie lines.

* ExoticEyeDesigns: They all have dark blue pupils instead of black to add to the fishy look.
* UnscaledMerfolk / OurMermaidsAreDifferent: Seashell bra'd ladies with requisite two-part fishtails and humanoid skin tones... these are not. 977-->'''Voiced By:''' Paula Rhodes
Daughter of [[Characters/ClassicalMythologyFirstGenerationOlympians Poseidon]], and a goddess in training.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Light sea-foam blue skin.
* TheChooserOfTheOne: Transports Lagoona [[KidnappedByTheCall against her will]] to the GSR to overcome her greatest fear.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Very much of one. Though she's very knowledgeable, sometimes her thoughts get jumbled and she can't access information when she'd like to.
* FishPeople: She has notched gills in the side of her face, fin ears, echinoderm-like spines all over her skin, and very webbed hands. Slightly downplayed with the doll, which didn't keep the gills from the prototype.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: As a deity-to-be, she exercises kindness to and appreciation for all sea creatures, even having some living in the mass of seaweed that is her lower body. She's adamant about not getting a pet, as she doesn't think of sea creatures that way.
* GreenThumb: Creates vines to lead the ghouls into the crevasse where the Kraken lives.
* LargeHam: When she's trying to act as a goddess in front of other monsters, her attempts to be regal are... [[NoIndoorVoice dramatic, to say the least]], and are frequently interrupted. Despite this, she's actually fairly laid-back.
* LittleMissAlmighty: Daughter of a god who can't quite muster the impact of her father.
* MakingASplash: She can control the tides at her whim.
* OurGodsAreDifferent: Kid of a god, and possessing godly powers herself.
* PlantPerson: Her lower half is made of seaweed tentacles, and Kala refers to this aspect in her diary.
* PunnyName: A combination of "Poseidon" and "sea", and pronounced to sound like "Posy".
* UnscaledMerfolk: Her bottom half is a mess of green seaweed, with small monster sea creatures clinging to it.
* UnusualEars: Fins, like Lagoona's.
* YouthfulFreckles: Mauve.

-->'''Voiced By:''' Lyndsy Kail
A beautiful squid-maid, a star dancer, one of the most popular monsters in the reef... and the daughter of the Kraken.
----
* TheAce: Numerous trophies and accolades for her dancing and athletic skill, and she's captaining the dance team.
** BrokenAce: Being hailed as the greatest dancer in the GSR is not enough for Kala to move past her insecurities and envy of Lagoona.
* AlphaBitch: Yeah. She's catty about other monsters, and doesn't like many fish in the reef. Pearl treasures her friendship with Kala for this reason, but it's to be determined if she's a HorribleJudgeOfCharacter.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Magenta skin for her humanoid half, purple, with pink patterning that fades to yellow into the tentacles for her squid half.
* BigBeautifulWoman: The curviest sixteen-year-old character in the line, and never described as unattractive.
* BrightIsNotGood: While she has many vivid tropical colors, she serves as an antagonist for much of Lagoona's life. This is averted after her HeelFaceTurn.
* DrivenByEnvy: Kala pushed herself to one-up everything Lagoona's done, and shows outright resentment in her diary after discovering that she, her friends, and Gil showed up in the reef. She also envies Lagoona's happiness with her family. All of these are contributing factors to why Kala started bullying her.
* EasilyForgiven: Despite giving Lagoona permanent stage fright and attacking Monster High, Kala's own insecurities are apparently enough to justify her actions, and she gets [[KarmaHoudini no punishment]].
* FacialMarkings: Over her eyes, she has areas of pale magenta.
* FantasticRacism: Kala is suffers from an indirect example of this. As everyone considers the Kraken, her father, a disgusting monstrosity, she believes that everyone thinks this of her as well, even though nobody is aware of her parentage.
* FishPeople: Has the lower body of a squid, and the appropriate eight limbs.
* FreudianExcuse: She knows how unpopular her father is and is afraid of being judged by her parentage. This goes a long way to explaining her control-freak behaviors and her need to be the best at everything.
* HartmanHips: Due to her squiddy lower body, she's got bigger hips proportionally than any ghoul released.
* HugeSchoolgirl: Her doll is bigger than the Big Sister mold. And her size is a birthright as daughter of ''the '''Kraken'''''.
* LoserSonOfLoserDad: Kala's DarkSecret is that the Kraken, the sea monster all sea monsters fear, is her father. Not only has she been forced to keep her parentage a secret for fear of this trope taking effect, but as the Kraken is confined to his crevasse, he has never seen his daughter dance.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Has four arms to complement her four tentacles, and serves as an antagonist, bringing the Kraken to attack Monster High.
* NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent: Kala lives in her universe's equivalent of Australia, but has an American accent, unlike her former classmate Lagoona, whose Aussie accent is prominent at MH.
* PassThePopcorn: When it doesn't interfere with dance practice, Kala gets a kick out of sitting back and watching Peri and Pearl squabble.
* PunnyName: A pun on calamari, or cooked squid. Given her four arms and monstrous nature, it may also reference Kali, the Hindu goddess of death.
* SchoolyardBullyAllGrownUp: To Lagoona.
* TheUglyGuysHotDaughter: Kala is quite a lovely squid-maid, whilst her father, unlike most MH parents, does not even look remotely humanoid.
* UnusualEars: They're water siphons.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: With Lagoona, but now she resents her so much she's [[RemovedFromThePicture ripped her]] ''and her family'' out of all her old photographs. They make up at the end of ''Great Scarrier Reef''.

[[folder:Peri and Pearl Serpentine]]
[[quoteright:288:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallperipearl.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Rachel Staman (Peri), Creator/CheramiLeigh (Pearl)
Daughters of the [[Characters/ClassicalMythologyMonsters Hydra]]. They're in the dance team and initially the only monsters Kala considers friends.
----
* AlliterativeFamily: Both have names that start with the letter P.
* {{Chatterbox}}: Both of them. Even when they're not fighting, their mouths are never shut.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Their hair, and their room. Peri's the blue-haired one, and Pearl is the white-haired.
* ConjoinedTwins: Dicephalic, which basically means two heads on one body (though it also affects organ structure).
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: For both, but more with Peri.
* GoldMakesEverythingShiny: Gold accents in their room, gold jewelry all over them.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The first time we see them talk, Peri complains about Kala, and Pearl teases her about being the better friend. This immediately degenerates into shouting and slapping, at which point Kala covers their mouths with her tentacles.
* EverythingsSparklyWithJewelry: These are two blinged-up kids.
* FishPeople: Sea snake sisters, with webbed hands, fins, gills, and scales.
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: Besides the obvious ones being their hair, makeup, earrings, and side of the body, Peri and Pearl each have textured scales on their faces, with Peri's being on her left temple and right cheek, and Pearl's being on her right temple and left cheek.
* InformedFlaw: Peri's apparently ditzy, but she's not so much ditzy as really nice. If anything, Pearl comes off as more ditzy, with Peri smart enough to see that Kala doesn’t care about them.
* MeaningfulName: Peri's blue hair could be described as ''peri''winkle, and her sister's is an iridescent white, better known as ''pearl'' (their sea-lifeline flowers are the same colors). Their names also refer to the gemstones peridot and pearl, alluding to their shared passion for jewels. Their last name, "Serpentine", accurately refers to their reptilian features, but it's also the common name for silicate minerals, like quartz.
* MultipleHeadCase: They're two heads on one body.
* MythologyGag: The Hydra, their parent(s), was a monster with several serpentine heads, which explains why they're conjoined.
* NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent: Like Kala, they don't sound like Australians despite living there.
* RedOniBlueOni: Pearl's the red to Peri's blue.
* TheGloriousWarOfSisterlyRivalry: Due to Peri's somewhat air-headed personality and Pearl's aggressive one, they [[{{Pun}} "butt heads"]] a lot. In their diary after Peri eats swellfish(which Pearl's highly allergic to) the fallout is so bad Pearl decides they [[ThisIsMySide should split their room down the middle.]] This is remedied soon after they calm down and realize it's a problematic arrangement, but they keep some of the changes. It gets frustrating because they can't get away from each other, but they do consider themselves best friends and do care about each other deep down.
* SeaMonster: They're an aquatic hydra, though they're amphibious. Perhaps it's because their parents fought Hercules on land.
* SnakePeople: Their lower body is that of an aquatic snake monster.
* SymbolMotifClothing: All of their jewelry is joined together across their loops, as Peri and Pearl are joined onto one body.
* UnusualEars: Fin-ears.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kelpie Blue]]
[[quoteright:257:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smallkelpie.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Larissa Gallagher
Lagoona's younger sister, who encourages her to face her fears regarding performing.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Light purple, with teal and hot pink body details.
* TheBusCameBack: She played a bit part in ''Great Scarrier Reef'' before being released in the reboot's Monster Family assortment.
* CheerfulChild: She's rather optimistic and happy.
* NerdGlasses: She's a shy and passionate character, and has glasses to reflect this.
* NonIndicativeName: "Kelpie" is also the name of a type of Scottish water monster, which resembles a horse, unlike Kelpie's Gil Man inspired design
* UnusualEars: Fins, as is the sea standard--albeit proportionally larger than the series' other fish people.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ari Hauntington]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Jonquil Goode
[[quoteright:185:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_oaljrlm6ty1rosg0bo4_250.jpg]]
A ghost pop singer, who masquerades as a human popstar under the name Tash.
----
* AmbiguouslyBrown: When solid, she has light blonde hair and pale brown skin.
* BritishRockstar: A popstar technically, but she has the accent.
* ChainedByFashion: Like all of the preceding ghost characters, chains feature in all of her outfits-- e.g., chain patterns and accessories.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Purple hair and eyes in ghost and human form.
* CuteGhostGirl: Like her predecessors.
* DamselInDistress: Gets kidnapped by Moanica as Tash, and the ghouls must work together to save her. Despite their best efforts, Moanica still gets a clear shot to kill her. Thanks to {{intangibility}}, it's a NoSell.
* GlamourFailure: Ari can make herself opaque temporarily to appear as a human, but she will occasionally "spook out" and lose the look.
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: Tash's purple eyes are pretty uncommon for a human.
* MeaningfulName: Seems to go two ways. For one, it matches "airy" in reference to her ghostly state. Secondly, it is derived from "aria", befitting her musical nature.
* MythologyGag: Spectra's last name was originally going to be "von Hauntington". MH must have liked the name, and used it for their next ghost to join the main cast.
* NewAgeRetroHippie: With tassels, braids, flowy dresses, and a ''chain'' headband in her pop star release, her fashion sense takes inspiration from this-she describes her style as [[{{Pun}} "Boohemian]] Rocker" in her bio.
-->''When I'm bolting out pop ballads under hot stage frights, I like to wear cool, gauzy fabrics that float around me, while still looking shriek and modern.''
* NiceCharacterMeanActor: Subverted: she screams for security when she realizes Draculaura's vampirism in her Tash glamour--but it's actually to keep up her ruse. She's just as friendly as her public persona.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Zig-zagged. In the canon proper she's been around since WTMH, but she's gotten so much marketing that it seems Mattel may be trying to make her one of the main six ghouls in lieu of Ghoulia.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Her Great Britain site bio spells her name as Ari ''Huntington''.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Her outfits feature musical notes and staffs, and piano keys, much like Operetta's.
* TeenIdol: 15.
* {{Troll}}: As a popstar, she's besieged by them to the point where they're her personal pet peeve.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Moanica D'Kay]]
[[quoteright:185:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_oaljrlm6ty1rosg0bo3_250.png]]
-->'''Voiced By:''' Cristina Milizia
A [[EverythingsDeaderWithZombies zombie]] ghoul strongly implied to have used humans to create a personal zombie army.
----
* AlphaBitch: Most definitely--her favorite activity is listed as any one where she's in charge and others do her bidding, and her personal [[{{Pun}} monstra]] is to command! Her concerns are less with ruling the school and more with ruling the world, but decides the former could help her with the latter.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Grey, although a darker grey than Ghoulia.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Green eyes to match the hair streak. In the film proper, they're more of a vivid robin's egg blue.
* CuteLittleFangs: She has these (along with some of her zomboys) though on her doll we don't see them since her mouth is closed. Crosses with FangsAreEvil.
* CreepyCemetery: She dwells in one taken over from the humans. Her masquerade doll has tombstone earrings to reflect her zombie nature, as well.
* CreepyShadowedUndereyes: With a very slight version of TaintedVeins.
* DrivesLikeCrazy: Drives Tash's stolen tour bus right into the middle of Monster High's frigging dance floor. Combo with IncomingHam.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Moanica's entire ideology and motives hinge on a belief that humans and monsters cannot peacefully coexist.
* EvilLaugh: A [[GigglingVillain giggle]] dripping with condescendence and false innocence.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Her dance outfit has a single-strapped dress and one glove.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Charismatic and inspirational to try and win people over, but quickly homicidal when that starts taking too long.
* FemmeFatalons: Long, pointy, unpainted ones. They're retractable, which explains their absence from her doll.
* FilleFatale: Less overt than most.
* ForTheEvulz: Peace between normies and monsters is boring to her, as are normies (and when she thinks about it, most monsters). Solution? Create a zombie army to blindly follow you, manipulate monsters to follow your side, and come to dominate the world... all in the interest of keeping things interesting.
* GenericGraffiti: Her outfits have graffiti-inspired patterns, to further reflect her grungy theme.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: She has these (combined with CreepyBlueEyes), along with her "zom[[{{Pun}} boy]] army" (who combine it with RedEyesTakeWarning).
* {{Grunge}}: Her personal style:
-->'''Moanica:''' ''Some may call it Glam Grunge, but I think of it as Cemetery Chic: I can go from the tomb to the ballroom and always be the gravest dressed ghoul around.''
* ImprobableHairstyle: Her "Dance the Fright Away" doll gives her a Seussian high ponytail gelled into a curled shape.
* LargeHam: Milizia obviously had a lot of fun with the role, and even gestured and moved in the booth.
* ManipulativeBastard: Admits it herself--as she isn't capable of turning other Monsters to zombies, she sometimes has to "recruit the old fashioned way: through charm and manipulation".
* MonsterProgenitor: While most definitely not the first zombie in the world, Moanica has the power of [[TheVirus zombifying humans via a scratch]]. The result is her army of zomboys. [[spoiler:She tries to do this to Tash in the climax of ''Welcome to Monster High'', who fortunately reveals herself to be a ghost named Ari, and therefore immune.]]
* NightOfTheLivingMooks: Her zomboys.
* ObviouslyEvil: Even though many MH characters have dark designs, she goes beyond to let you know she's not one of the good guys.
* OurLichesAreDifferent: Not a lich, but takes many traits from one: the unnatural intelligence, the hunger for power, the power over a horde of lesser undead, and the actual state of undeath.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: Fanged, clawed, polysyllabic and acrobatic.
* PunnyName: D'Kay is phonetically identical to "decay", which is pretty much what zombies do.
* RedemptionRejection: Even after all Moanica's done, Draculaura tries to help her as she falls. And immediately after recovering from her fall, Moanica lunges at Tash.
* TheRival: She's this to Draculaura in the movie. Her two-pack release with Draculaura is even called "Monstrous Rivals".
* SayMyName: Draculaura, ever the sweetie, asks Moanica's name when she first meets her--even after a cold reception.
-->'''Moanica:''' Who ''dares'' trespass in ''my'' cemetery?\
'''Clawdeen:''' ''Your'' cemetery?\
'''Draculaura:''' Moanica! Moanica D'Kay, right?\
'''Moanica:''' Who's asking?!
* SchoolUniformsAreTheNewBlack: Not Moanica, but her zomboys are all dressed in the tattered remains of preppy uniforms. It has some unsettling implications of where exactly they came from.
* SkeletonsInTheCoatCloset: Bones and guts! In her signature outfit alone she has...
** A vest with a graffiti design resembling a viral pattern
** A shirt with a ribcage pattern including a bleeding heart
** A ribcage bracelet and a ribcage necklace hanging on cords made of worms, and worm earrings.
** A plush-style brain purse, a belt with a brain texture, and boots on a brain heel with the oxford-style leather over brains.
* SomethingAboutARose: Her dance outfit's belt has one, probably to invoke gravesite offerings.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Her voice actress repeatedly spelled her name Moani'''k'''a.
* SpicyLatina: Complete with GratuitousSpanish, and a [[RegionalRiff guitar]] {{Leitmotif}}. Her voice actress has said that Mattel asked for a Latin American accent and she, being Peruvian, has given Moanica a Peruvian accent. So that's one interpretation. Another is that, judging by the architecture of the cemetery she and her zomboys took over, Moanica originates specifically from Mexico.
* SymbolMotifClothing: As detailed above, ribcages, worms, and brains.
* TeensAreMonsters: Pun not intended. She's a manipulative, megalomaniacal, murderous aspiring world dominator with a zombie army... '''at 15'''.
* TodayXTomorrowTheWorld: She's set up camp in a cemetery, and when the ghouls find her she's first apprehensive, but then after realizing they're also monsters she openly considers that [[WeCanRuleTogether they could be on her side]]. She then relates her plan to first take the cemetery back from the humans, and then take over the entire human world.
* VillainExitStageLeft
* VillainousBreakdown: At the climax of ''Welcome to Monster High'', when [[spoiler:the students of Monster High stand up to defend the ghouls and Tash from her zomboys]], Moanica loses all semblance of charisma and control, and claws at Draculaura in a mad rage.
* WeWillMeetAgain: Moanica promises that the ghouls haven't heard the last of her at the end of ''Welcome to Monster High''. She keeps her promise by being the antagonist of ''Electrified''.

----
A [[OurGhostsAreDifferent wraith]] who joins MH. He's good friends with Deuce Gorgon.
* DependingOnTheArtist: In the CGI specials, he's blue and has fangs. In the comic and the series, he's gray and has no fangs.
* FashionableAsymmetry: He only wears a glove on his right hand.
* OfficialCouple: With Clawdeen Wolf, at least as far as the TV specials are concerned.
* PunnyName: The whole reason his species can even be deduced is because "Raythe" is a phonetic match to "wraith".
* ToylessToylineCharacter: Raythe is the only G2-exclusive character without a doll at the moment.

-->'''Voiced By:''' Katy Townsend
The [[OurWerewolvesAreDifferent daughter of grey werewolves.]]
----
* BraveScot: A fierce rocker and werewolf with a Scottish brogue.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Bright blue hair with a pink streak, bright blue eyes with pink undereye lashes.
* EightiesHair: As the signature for the heavily eighties-inspired ''Electrified'' line, natch.
* HairyGirl: Molded fur on her arms and legs, as is the form.
* MeaningfulName: [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin She's a grey wolf.]][[note]]"Timberwolf" refers to grey wolves, and "Silvi" invokes her silvery color. It may also double as an IronicName, since silver is deadly to werewolves.[[/note]] "Sylvia" and "sylvan" both refer to the forest, and her name may also be connected to Rhea Silvia, the mother of Romulus and Remus before they were raised by wolves.
* PrettyInMink: Subverted--her necklace is rendered and illustrated as pink clear plastic, but it's meant to evoke this.
* UsefulNotes/ScottishEnglish: Townsend gives Silvi a Scottish accent.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: She's had her name spelled as Sylvi, Silvia, Silva, etc.
* UnusualEars: Like the other werewolves', but molded with a furry texture.
