* James giving a very well-deserved talking-to to a spoiled college kid that used a fake ATM to rip off people's savings just before he goes to trial in "Up On the Roof" (season 1, episode 12).
* Andy in "Moby Greg" (season 4, episode 1): "But you just remember this, sweetheart; you got your cuffs off like you wanted, [[DirtyCoward you]] [[MilesGloriosus folded]]... and this 'bitch' never even touched you."
* One of Medavoy's greatest moments, if not his absolute greatest, came in "Seminal Thinking" (season 5, episode 21). He successfully manages to use his wits in two interviews, with next to no evidence, to get a suspect to confess to a repulsively gruesome murder of a prostitute. It truly has to be seen to be believed.
* "Meat Me in the Park" (season 10, episode 4):
** It was about a five year old girl going missing in the park. The girl’s father was part responsible for her going missing because he went to the park toilets to hook up with a guy, an event that had become a habit for his and that he had withheld from the detectives who discovered it in their search. After the girl is found, when the girl’s mother believes the detectives did a substandard job in the investigation (her husband had told them that they had pulled him in for questioning about their finances when they were actually questioning about his hookups in the park restrooms) and threatens to complain to the deputy mayor about this, Sipowicz tells her about her husband's sexual escapades, and later, the man enters the precinct and accuses Sipowicz of being a homophobe for outing his secrets to his wife. [[PetHomosexual Irvin]] stands up for Sipowicz and chews the man's head off for being neglectful to his daughter. What makes this moment awesome is because he never really had anything to do other than answer phone calls.
** Michelle, Connie’s pregnant sister’s boyfriend Frank [[WouldHitAGirl gets arrested for hitting Michelle.]] Towards the end of the episode, Frank is in the precinct’s holding cell, and Sipowicz decides to slap him around the cell, and tells him that when he’s eventually released, Sipowicz will drive him to the bus station so he can leave New York for good, and tells him that if he ever came back, Sipowicz would put him in a hospital.
* Det. Andy Sipowicz and co. have just brought in a violent criminal, who's repeatedly spitting out the ol' "If I wasn't in chains, I'd show you" line. He calls out Andy in particular, calling him "a bitch" who's only that brave around him because of the handcuffs and backup. Andy - [[DiabolusExMachina who'd been sucker punched by the universe repeatedly lately]] - decides to cowboy up and put the thug in his place. He turns off the interview room's camera, uncuffs the perp, and opens a window (with a visible fire escape), then tells the thug to take his best shot; get past him to that window, he's home free. The thug makes every excuse in the book not to rise up ("It's a set up", "There's cops waiting outside the window", etc.) When it's clear the thug isn't going anywhere, Andy recuffs him and delivers the verbal CoupDeGrace:
