->''Real dragons have curves.''

Jin Kamishima is going to go on a journey to the stars with his family, until the rocket is caught in a sudden accident. Only Jin is saved. Several years later, he meets up with a mysterious girl named Toa and finds himself getting involved into the actions of International Solarsystem Development Agency, or ISDA, and their unit called the Dragonauts. These Dragonauts, by forming a bonding with one of the dragon eggs that appeared on Earth in a ceremony called the Resonance, gain both a friend and a pilot to fight against the planet of Thanatos that has mysteriously appeared. Jin and Toa, along with newly born dragon Gio, find themselves involved in this.

No, it is NOT affiliated with ''TabletopGame/TheWorldOfDarkness'', no matter how much the title looks like it.
-----
!!''Dragonaut: The Resonance'' provides examples of:

* ACupAngst: Akira, which comes with being the only "flat" female in a show full of extremely busty ones.
%%* AmbiguouslyBrown: Garnet
* AuthorAppeal: Makoto Uno illustrated the original character designs for this series so that explains the breasts and the {{bish|onen}}ies.
* AssimilationPlot: [[spoiler:Thanatos's ultimate solution.]]
* BadMoonRising: Thanatos, [[ThatsNoMoon which is also a giant dragon]].
* BarehandedBladeBlock: At least twice, in fights between Gio and Garnet.
* BattleButler: Amadeus, Sieglinde's personal butler and dragon.
* BeachEpisode:
** On the Moon. Sure, why not.
** And again, on Mars. [[spoiler: This episode takes place only a few miles from the enemy's baseā€”the same base that heroes just escaped from a few moments earlier. Said enemies are also pursuing the heroes. Oh well! Plenty of time to strip and play in the mine shaft sewer!]]
%%* BondCreatures: Dragons.
* BridgeBunnies: Ryouko, Saki and Megumi, the ISDA trio. Besides the standard BridgeBunny duties, they also handle the PostEpisodeTrailer.
* BuxomBeautyStandard: [[HeadTurningBeauty All eyes are on Machina]] when she and Akira are walking around in the spa resort looking for Jin and Toa in swimsuits. Akira, notices [[EatingTheEyeCandy the attention]], looks at Machina's large chest and looks [[ACupAngst her flat chest, and sighs in disappointment]].
* ConservationOfNinjitsu: Halfway through the series Thanatos sends a dragon to Earth which is barely repelled by all the Dragonauts working together and the use of a ridiculously powerful bomb. In the finale Thanatos sends swarms of them, and the Dragonauts are easily able to wipe out hundreds of them. [[spoiler:Of course, since Thanatos had sent one for every person on Earth, the only thing this accomplishes is for them to be seen fighting the invading dragons, giving them some good PR.]]
* DamselInDistress: Toa, perhaps a little more often than she should be.
* DivingSave: Akira [[spoiler:resulting in a fatal wound at the hands of Garnet as he's TakingTheBullet.]]
* DragonRider: The [=ISDA=] Dragonauts ride shapechanging dragons though they have conformal cockpit modules to cope with things like breathing in deep space.
* TheDragon: Garnet, in that she's Ashim's right-hand woman [[spoiler:and an actual dragon.]]
* TheDulcineaEffect: In reverse. Toa's known Jin less than a day (and probably talked to him for less than two hours) before she's taking bullets for him, stating her love and making promises to come back for him like she's known him for years.
** That's because she [[spoiler: [[TheAtoner felt bad about accidentally killing his family, so she saved him from that accident, then saved him again 2 years later and stood by his side afterwards.]]]]
* EyepatchOfPower: Kazuki. His scar-patch only makes it look like he's wearing a thong on his head.
* {{Fanservice}}: Unusually, this featured cheesecake AND beefcake.
** Megumi lampshades this by pointing out how nice it is to be in zero-gravity when you have a rack like hers.
* FingerTenting: Prince Ashim.
%%* GainaxEnding
* HighSchoolAU: The BonusEpisode episode opens on an unusually cast [[RealTrailerFakeMovie trailer]] for one of these. Howling Star is a delinquent who falls in love with Toa, and everyone else has random roles. The dragons are somehow still involved.
* HotBlooded: Howling Star, Raina's dragon. He can also [[ThisIsADrill form a drill with his wings]].
%%* HotSpringsEpisode
* IfICantHaveYou: Asim to Toa and Kazuki to Gio.
* ImportantHaircut: Kazuki, not that it makes him look any more menacing.
* LineOfSightName:
** Toa got her name from a bracelet belonging to Jin's sister Ai, which was broken in the accident that killed her and the rest of his family (that she caused.) It originally had "To Ai" engraved on it, but read "To A" when she found it.
** Gio got his name because Kazuki saw his designation number G10 and mistakenly read it as Gio.
* MinorInjuryOverreaction: Okay, well he did get blown up in the process, but Kazuki's complaining about what turns out to be a small scar (thanks to the Dragons functioning as pretty good Meat Shields) falls under this.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: This series is an ecchi action sci-fi mecha romance series containing alien robot human-shapeshifting dragons. It also has a bit of Mystery Horror in the start, SliceOfLife in the middle and drama at the end. Yup, just like that.
* ObliviouslyBeautiful: Machina and Akira are looking for the main characters in a spa resort. Machina doesn't realize that every male there has their eyes on her. Akira, who's less curvaceous and more body-conscious, does notice and sighs in disappointment about [[ACupAngst her figure]].
* TheOjou: Sieglinde, as Amadeus helpfully reminds you. ''Constantly''.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Dragons gliding IN SPACE. Sure, why not.
* NavelDeepNeckline: Machina's neckline reaches her abdomen. She even manages to combine this with {{underboobs}}.
* PersonalitySwap-- Some AppliedPhlebotinum (LightningCanDoAnything) in the BonusEpisode episode causes all the dragons to have their personalities reversed. Amadeus becomes lazy, Machina becomes a {{delinquent}} (meaning Yuko Goto gets to act closer to how she really is), Garnet becomes submissive, Gio and Widow are making jokes and Howling Star is a coward. Otohime, being TheGenericGuy, does not have any personality change, and is distressed about it. Toa, however, turns herself into a flirty {{catgirl}}.
%%* PietaPlagiarism: A lot.
* PlutoIsExpendable: Thanatos was going to crash into Earth, but Pluto was in the way first and ends up destroyed.
* PowerNullifier: The CSS (not that kind of CSS) fields that limit dragons from assuming their true form.
* ThePowerOfLove: Saves the day ultimately and it briefly becomes ArcWords in episodes 15 and 16. Among other things, ThePowerOfLove can break reinforced glass, apparently.
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: Lindwurm Unit.
* RealMenWearPink: Well, they certainly tried with Gio by giving him a frilly pink apron when he, Jin and Toa are living peaceful lives for a short while.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: All dragons have red eyes, though how menacing they are varies.
%%* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Poor Nanami.
* RivalTurnedEvil: Kazuki subverts it since the rivalry with Jin over Gio was only in his mind.
%%* SlouchOfVillainy: Prince Ashim.
* TimeSkip: Several months get skipped roughly in the middle of the series.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Akira and Machina.
* UndressingTheUnconscious: In the second episode, Jin is knocked unconscious by Sieglinde's BattleButler and in a bunker room with all of his clothes gone. He wraps a [[ModestyBedsheet bedsheet around his waist]] and starts looking around, until Sieglinde enters the room and startles him, causing [[WardrobeMalfunction his sheet to slip down]] to the floor and giving her a NakedFirstImpression (He's only seen from [[ShouldersUpNudity the waist up]]). He has a NakedFreakOut and [[HandOrObjectUnderwear covers himself with his hands]] and she promptly nicknames him "[[TeenyWeenie Little man]]".
%%* UnstoppableRage: Machina.
* WeNamedTheMonkeyJack: Amadeus is named after Sieglinde's dog from when she was a kid.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: Kazuki and Jin started out as friends. Jin was forced to drop out of the program they were both working in during an accident which ultimately resulted in Kazuki's Dragon rejecting him and accepting Jin. When Kazuki finally gets a Dragon and ends up fighting Jin, he gets badly scarred, causing him to hate Jin even more.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Prince Ashim fits the bill to a T, being quite the sadist and wants to disprove ThePowerOfLove.
%% * WorldOfBuxom
* YouGetMeCoffee: Done to Megumi in the middle of a dramatic moment, with two of the BridgeBunnies being assigned important duties while she is told to get coffee. She's not happy about it.
