It's an original story, heavily inspired by the premise of the original ''VideoGame/NiNoKuni'', instead of a direct or close adaptation. Creator/{{Netflix}} picked the film up as an 'Original' and streamed it on January 16, 2020.

Sedulus on the other hand is mainly concerned with revenge, though he says he is not, and is trying to overthrow Evermore and absorb the magic from his niece Astrid. Furthermore, he is the only villain who is not redeemed and is outright killed.]]

He then focused on taking over Evermore and gaining absolute power.]]
