{{Webcomics}} like to [[DeconstructorFleet deconstruct a lot of tropes]], not least among them the tendency for villains to [[AGodAmI proclaim their godhood]].

----

* Sarda of ''Webcomic/EightBitTheater''.
** "[[http://www.nuklearpower.com/2009/01/27/episode-1087-exalted-feat/ Wizards do parlor tricks, I throttle the heavens.]]"
** "I am Sarda. My will be done."
** Black Mage's power seems to be unstoppable now [[http://www.nuklearpower.com/2009/05/12/episode-1127-invincible-sword-technique/ killed]] [[http://www.nuklearpower.com/2009/05/14/episode-1128-guns-blazing/ two]] of his teammates and [[http://www.nuklearpower.com/2009/05/07/episode-1125-unexpected/ White]] [[http://www.nuklearpower.com/2009/05/09/episode-1126-impasse/ Mage]]. Also, he long before considered himself destined to crush that petty world he lives on since he is a nexus of destruction... and stuff.
** After looking into the datasphere, Red Mage himself states that his goal is to use his new found infinite knowledge to dethrone the gods and to make the world in his own image.
* In ''Webcomic/TheBeastLegion'', Dragos proclaims himself as a God the will purge the light at the end of Issue 2.
* Damien, BigBad of ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive's'' ''Painted Black'' arc, created in a lab but believing himself to be the fulfillment of a prophecy: he insists he was ''summoned'', not created. When he realises [[spoiler:that he may in fact ''not'' be god [[HeelRealization it occurs to him]] that all the evil things he has done were evil, instead of falling under an OmniscientMoralityLicense. Instead of a HeelFaceTurn he decides that life as a mortal is not worth living, and that he will [[TakingYouWithMe take Grace with him]].]]
* In ''Webcomic/ErrantStory'', a half-elven mage named Meji embarks on a quest to do this as a school project (due to a convoluted backstory that made it her only option for graduating magic university). She seeks to become the single most powerful mage in existence by absorbing the energies of Anilis, believed to be one of the two elven creator gods. [[spoiler:Another half-elf mage named Ian beats her to it becoming a very powerful and [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity very insane]] PhysicalGod bent on genocide. She later absorbs Senilis, the other elven creator god]]
* In ''Webcomic/FafnirTheDragon'', [[Literature/TheTwilightSaga Edward Catheter]] invokes this trope after drinking the blood of the titular dragon. However, [[spoiler: since he was supposed to ''bathe'' in it, not ''drink'' it, the firey blood of Fafnir helped to kill him.]]
* ''Webcomic/{{Fans}}'': Subverted in Book 2, with General Maximiliana.
-->[[http://www.faans.com/index.php?p=957 "See, even the concept that the General could lose was more than he could deal with. The General isn't these people's leader, she's their god. And I've read enough fantasy to know how gods die."]]
* ''Webcomic/GirlGenius'':
** The Queens who achieved a second breakthrough historically call themselves immortal god queens and are capable of feats that seem like they are omniscient and magical within their domain. The fact that [[spoiler:Lucrezia]] has been hunting them and killed so many that only two are known to still be alive indicates that they are not entirely immortal, and that she's an even more dangerous threat than was realized when [[spoiler:her identity as the Other]] was uncovered.
** Fittingly, Lucrezia Mongfish/[[spoiler:the Other]] often speaks of herself in divine terms. At the same time, her mind-controlled servants often refer to her as simply "The Goddess".
** When [[spoiler:Quintillius Snackleford]] achieves a second breakthrough the power effectively makes him a demigod. Shortly thereafter he expresses panic and outrage that his summoned EldritchAbomination would dare to leave its "god".
* ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'': Karkat introduces himself to John by acting as a wrathful God who despises him [[spoiler:after helping to create his universe]]. What he doesn't realize is that due to weird time shenanigans, [[spoiler:they've been talking for a long time and are already friends from John’s perspective]]. For double irony points, [[spoiler: John has, by this stage, gone "god-tier", essentially making him more godly than Karkat. [[NiceGuy Not that he makes a huge deal of it]]]].
** Two of the comics main antagonists, Jack/Bec Noir and [[OmnicidalManiac Lord English]], have this view of themselves. After being given incredible powers of spatial manipulation and near invincibility the narration states that Jack has essentially started to see himself as a Demi-god. Lord English on the other hand creates/inspires an entire religion with himself as the main deity. [[spoiler: Fitting, considering he’s already a God-tier player]].
* Heat Man from ''Webcomic/InWilysDefense'', who gets so full of himself that Sphere, [[CrystalDragonJesus the ''actual'' God]], has him dragged to Paradise to have the Angel of Destruction, Magdelena, [[ColdBloodedTorture tortured]] just to get him to shut up about it. It didn't work.
* ''Webcomic/{{Irrelevator}}'': [[http://i.imgur.com/wA81VWz.gif I'm now the prophet of elevator-music-ism. It only makes sense, I started liking this groove before you guys did. But most of all because I look like a hispanic Jesus, so...]]
%%* ''WebComic/{{Jack|DavidHopkins}}'': "Who died and made me God? ''She'' died! So ''I'' made me God!"
* ''Webcomic/MobPsycho100'': Most antagonistic espers show this attitude in regards to their powers making them inherently superior to normal humans. Most of them end up on the receiving end of a KirkSummation from the protagonists, who reject the idea of espers being better than humans due to their powers. Also of note is the spirit Dimple, who's main motivation is to have himself [[spoiler: and, later, Mob,]] worshipped and revered as Deities for their powers.
%%* ''Webcomic/MSPaintMasterpieces'' has Electric Man. [[spoiler: Good thing he's a good guy.]]
* ''Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick'':
** Vaarsuvius, [[spoiler:after hir DealWithTheDevil]], has a borderline case of this. V ends up trying to [[spoiler:destroy [[BigBad Xykon]] singlehandedly and actually does a lot of damage to him, but mostly just pisses him off.]] {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d [[BetterthanaBareBulb (like most everything in the comic)]] by the Three Fiends -- one of them warns V that the [[spoiler:soul splice]] tends to do this (it's later stated that was just a half-truth aimed at lowering V's inhibitions in order to actually invoke the trope).
** The declaration by the traditional movie snacks to the young upstarts as they explain just how much power their long life has given them: [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0301.html "We have become like unto tiny refreshing GODS!"]]
** Belkar's declaration of being [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0439.html "A SEXY SHOELESS GOD OF WAR!"]] while standing AtopAMountainOfCorpses during the Battle of Azure City.
* In ''Webcomic/ProblemSleuth'', one of Pickle Inspector's clones [[http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=4=000776 ascends to Godhood]] using his pure power of imagination. In somewhat of a subversion though, Godhead Pickle Inspector would only then respond to a command to "fondly regard creation" or something suspiciously similar (such as "crustacean"). Unless the integrity of the universe itself is menaced. [[http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=4&p=001486 DEUS EX SEWING MACHINA]]
* Baldr gets a serious case of this in Webcomic/{{Realmwalker}} . He straight up starts forcibly rewriting people's personalities so they'll blindly worship him.
* ''WebComic/SaturdayMorningBreakfastCereal'':
** [[http://smbc-comics.com/comic/thor Thor]] claims to be the god of thunder (or possibly some guy claims to be Thor, the god of thunder, but the dialogue seems to suggest he's actually called Thor), but it's really just a weird sex thing and he just makes thundercap noises with his mouth.
** In [[https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/words-2 "Words 2"]], ComicBook/{{Superman}} changes his name to [=SuperGod=].
* ''Webcomic/SchlockMercenary'':
** Petey is a BenevolentAI in control of a vast fleet of warships and a generator made from the ''galactic core'', making him the most powerful entity in the Milky Way by orders of magnitude. [[http://www.schlockmercenary.com/2005-09-14 He's ever so modest about it]]:
--->'''Petey:''' You do realize that the creation of your embassy was intended to clearly communicate my status in the eyes of the UNS. The Galactic Fleetmind is to be considered a "foreign power."\
'''Breya:''' I'm sorry, what else could you possibly be mistaken for?\
'''Petey:''' "God" probably tops the list.
** [[http://www.schlockmercenary.com/d/20060731.html And then there's his response when directly confronted by a religious expert]].
--->'''Reverend Theo''': Wow, you really ''do'' think you've become a god.\
'''Petey''': I'm just trying to do what I think a god would do if he were in my position.
* ''Webcomic/TalesOfTheQuestor''
%%** The Gragum Shaman plays this one straight.
** Completely and soul-touchingly inverted in Brother Linnaeus' arc, when the Gragum chief asks Quentyn if ''he'' is God... then asks why God seems to have abandoned the Gragum. [[http://www.rhjunior.com/totq/00119.html Quentyn's "letter delivery"]] for them is especially touching.
** Later on, invoked ''twice'' by Quentyn during his {{Badass Boast}}s, as he refers the Gragum Shaman's claim in both of them.
%%** [[http://www.rhjunior.com/totq/00779.html Also the philosophy of Rosad the Monster-maker and his followers]].
* ''Webcomic/TowerOfGod'': After Twenty-Fifth Bam/Jue Viole Grace learns his group won't help the Name Hunt Station to sort its problems out after liberating them because "they're not gods" he [[AllLovingHero wishes he was]] just for a moment (this was after an arc that featured him [[spoiler: absorbing billions of angry souls without any problem, or as his bad side put it ''he thoughtlessly '''ate''' billions of souls'' because he's capable of PowerCopying or {{Cannibalism Superpower}}s]]). Then the leader of a criminal organization shows up by introducing himself as "The God of FUG", blows up a train, and attacks Bam's friend who happens to be one of their strongest fighters. FUG used Bam as their "Slayer Candidate" for a while (that's where he got the name Jue Viole Grace) and several within the group considered him to be their god of change ([[AGodIAmNot he declined]], though he's determined to change the ruthless nature of the Tower).
%%* In ''Webcomic/TwoEvilScientists'', many of the villains take this tack.
* ''Webcomic/UmlautHouse 2'':
-->'''Saundra:''' Do you ever worry that we're playing God?\
'''Dr Pegasus:''' Not really. At some point, we definitely stopped playing.
* ''Webcomic/{{xkcd}}'': Parodied [[http://xkcd.com/676/ here]].
--> An x64 processor is screaming along at billions of cycles per second to run the XNU kernel, which is frantically working through all the POSIX-specified abstraction to create the Darwin system underlying OS X, which in turn is straining itself to run Firefox and its Gecko renderer, which creates a Flash object which renders dozens of video frames every second -- because I wanted to see a cat jump into a box and fall over. I am a god.
* In ''Webcomic/{{Zodiac|2011}}'', Nightmare considers herself and other superpowered whasnames to be gods because of their powers.
