It is so absurdly and immediately obvious that this woman is Medusa that you're baffled as to how the characters are even remotely falling for it.

Does not let him watch the orienation film, which causes Percy to be very confused around camp and an easy target for mockery. In the second book is is very quick to exploit Percy's talents to clear his name. But once Talia is de transformed from the pine tree Chiron quickly starts to ignore Percy in favour of Talia. Talia does not miss the chance to rub it in Percy's face and blame Percy for everything that goes wrong, which is actually Talia's own fault and Annabeth's fault. Chiron allows this to continue.
