* FanPreferredCutContent: Fans prefer the original storyboarded version of "Ace" over the final ClipShow version that was produced and aired, as the original version had a much more substantial plot that gave Jumba an opportunity to show [[CharacterDevelopment how much he's changed as a person]], have the titular experiment play a more significant role in the plot, gave some other experiments more screentime (most notably Spike, whose only appearance in this show was his otherwise well-liked debut episode), and didn't have Jumba anti-climatically lose his E.G.O. membership.

** Lilo Pelekai herself, as her behavioral changes between the original film and this series have caused some fans to find her becoming too annoying, unlikable, and too weird for weirdness's sake. Other fans believe that, while she does get annoying in a few egregious cases, she's still the ''ʻohana''-loving Hawaiian girl that we know and love, backed by the voice talents of Creator/DaveighChase.

Too general.

** [[Characters/LiloAndStitchExperiments The experiments]] in general are seen as this sometimes. Some episodes, such as "Spike", showed some potential of how their personalities could be fleshed out if they were given more screen time (like in the E.A.R.W.A.X. scenes in that particular episode), but the MonsterOfTheWeek setting combined with the [[SixtyFiveEpisodeCartoon 65-episode limit]] ruined such hopes, with most experiments relegated to being {{flat|Character}} background characters. Even some popular experiments like Angel (X-624) didn't get much characterization in the episodes they appear in. Granted, the ''Anime/{{Stitch}}'' anime did help to fix this problem, but [[BrokenBase had its own]] [[FanonDiscontinuity flaws in execution.]]
** In the {{Crossover}} episodes, the guest characters--save for maybe [[WesternAnimation/KimPossible Dr. Drakken]]--are more bland versions of their original selves, missing some of their iconic traits. This takes away very much from the plot's premises.

* ContestedSequel: This show has plenty of fans who enjoyed watching the antics of Lilo and Stitch as well as his "cousins" and find it to have nearly as much charm as [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitch the original film]] with a plausible (if quite silly) natural progression of the ''ʻohana'', who remain just as charming as ever, seeing it as a worthwhile addition to the franchise's canon. It also has plenty of detractors who find the show to be too formulaic and derivative of ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'', the characters too [[{{Flanderization}} Flanderized]] to stay likable, the loss of more dramatic and emotional moments to be disappointing, and the increased focus on aliens and comedy to be lackluster and at times grating. Some detractors even go as far as to treat ''Lilo & Stitch: The Series'' and its [[WesternAnimation/StitchTheMovie pilot]] and [[WesternAnimation/LeroyAndStitch finale films]] as FanonDiscontinuity. Either way, this show did start [[Franchise/LiloAndStitch the franchise's]] BrokenBase, years before the ''Anime/{{Stitch}}'' anime and ''Animation/StitchAndAi'' fractured it. There have been [[FlameWar many arguments on the Internet]] over whether ''The Series'' is any good, making this show a rather divisive one among Disney's animated television series.

* FanonDiscontinuity: As ContestedSequel already mentioned, this is far from a universal opinion, as this show is popular enough in its own right to be looked back upon fondly. Nevertheless, there are several puristic fans who were so unhappy with the LighterAndSofter direction this show took that, to this very day, they try to invoke this trope however they can. The fact that, unlike most other Creator/DisneyTelevisionAnimation sequels and prequels to [[Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon Disney Animation's films]], ''this'' show has actually been impactful enough to still be acknowledged by Disney years later through merchandise and crossover video game appearances has made it all the more frustrating for purists, who go as so far to complain about slots being "wasted" in Disney's crossover games when characters from this series--usually Angel--are chosen over characters from the first film.

* ParanoiaFuel: 623 experiment pods are scattered ''all over Kauaʻi'', and they’re so small you wouldn’t notice. They could be in your backyard, your pantry, your backpack, and even the ''food you eat''. An experiment can activate anytime, anywhere and then cause havoc, and all it takes is just one drop of liquid. Next thing you know, you wake up with a strange creature in your house, or run into one on the streets. If you’re ''really'' unlucky, you might accidentally end up eating one of them—at best, you’ll get an amoeboid experiment, and at worst well, the result will not be pleasant.

** Nani herself got hit with some of this as well; in the main movies, it's established that her volatile temper is due to the stress of being unable to find a stable job to support herself and her sister, and sure enough she does mellow in the sequels. In the series, this trait of her got so Flanderized that she can come across as unlikable sometimes, up to the point she will ground Lilo and Stitch for pretty minor deeds. That being said, her overly harsh behavior towards Lilo and Stitch did become a plot point in a few episodes, such as "Phantasmo" and "Bonnie & Clyde".

* {{Designated Hero}}es: Lilo and Stitch come across as this in some episodes, particularly in the ones where they practically ''give'' the experiments over to Gantu and Hämsterviel usually because the experiments annoyed them, such as Nosy, Felix, and Heckler. This can be more justified with experiments whose abilities have little to no positive effect, such as [[LovePotion Hunkahunka]] and [[SyntheticPlague Poxy]], but can still come across as surprisingly harsh and callous. Worse is that these abandonments are often PlayedForLaughs as said experiments start messing with Gantu afterward (Felix starts making a mess in Gantu's ship, Poxy makes Gantu ill, and so on). “Snafu” does help alleviate this with Lilo and Stitch agreeing to go on a rescue mission to save ''all'' experiments from Gantu, plus Nosy [[WhatTheHellHero calling Lilo out on this]].

“Snafu” "Snafu" does help alleviate this with Lilo and Stitch agreeing to go on a rescue mission to save ''all'' experiments from Gantu, plus Nosy [[WhatTheHellHero calling Lilo out on this]].this]].
** Stitch can be unnecessarily rough towards his cousins, with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ua2twuO_RZY a couple]] of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFpkrgy-YWo old YouTube videos]] titled "Stitch the Bully" showing clips of him mistreating his cousins (though the person who made those videos--a self-proclaimed Stitch fan--intended for them to be humorous and not actual criticism).

Granted, the ''Anime/{{Stitch}}'' anime did help to fix this problem, but [[BrokenBase had it’s own]] [[FanonDiscontinuity flaws in execution.]]

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Although par for the course for any Creator/DisneyTelevisionAnimation SpinOff[=/=]SequelSeries to a DAC film in TheNineties and [[TurnOfTheMillennium the 2000s]], the ArtShift to a thicker-lined art style compared to the original film was met with disgust from some fans. The altercations to Stitch's design, especially his more saturated blue fur and slightly more humanoid posture, get this the most. Some fans (especially fan artists) argue that they could've stuck with the original, plumper design because it "looks better" and is "easier to draw".[[note]]Although art design and aesthetics are subjective, professional artists and animators would say otherwise on those last three words; Stitch is actually a deceptively hard to draw character thanks to the franchise's [[Creator/ChrisSanders Sanders-based]] art style. The primary reason why his design was modified for ''The Series'' was for economic purposes; Disney is not going to blow a film-quality budget for an animated show that kids can watch for free without spending anything on merchandise (and thus not getting enough returns on investment like any business needs to succeed or stay successful), so Stitch's design had to be modified to make him easier to animate on the show's relatively limited budget of the time.[[/note]]
