That's why the book said Georges was not alive. He went into hiding, using the idea of the window stage to create a steampunk dome like in ''Film/TheTrumanShow'' using the profits he made from the movies. Isabelle was the daughter he never had. The Robot Hugo found was a prototype that Georges made.

** Most likely, like the real-life archivists, Hugo will travel across France to preserve films at risk under war. Including Creator/JeanRenoir's anti-Nazi ''Film/TheGrandIllusion'' and then he will work for the French Cinematheque and become friends with the FrenchNewWave.
