* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** One intended plan for the film was to set Jason in Camp Crystal Lake during the winter and have him stalk and kill teens in the snow. The idea was dropped as many of the crew, including producer Sean S. Cunningham, felt it wouldn’t have worked.
** Original plans for the virtual reality segment called for a Pamela Voorhees cameo where Jason--now Uber Jason--would have attacked the virtual Pamela to prove how evil he had become. Betsy Palmer was contacted about doing the scene; when she declined, the filmmakers dropped the idea.

* EnforcedMethodActing: When Stoney is killed, his blood splatters on Kinsa and she screams. The scream is genuine, as the fake blood burned her actress's eyes.
* FranchiseKiller: Pretty much put a death nail in an already near dead franchise. So much so that, despite the following year's ''Film/FreddyVsJason'' being a box-office hit, the series needed a total reboot to start up again.
* TheShelfOfMovieLanguishment: The movie was finished in 2000, but wasn't released in the United States until 2002 due to a management shakeup at New Line Cinema.
* TroubledProduction: During production, writer Todd Farmer and director Jim Isaac did not get along at all. The film saw constant, heavy rewrites during production that required Farmer to be on set at all times; by his account, the entire crew hated him. Of particular note was tension over the film's tone, with Farmer's version being more serious and Isaac's being a lot goofier.
