*** The problem with this, though, is that in ''Film/{{A Nightmare on Elm Street|1984}}'', Nancy is watching ''Evil Dead'' on television. Since Jason and Freddy inhabit the same universe, this means that the ''Evil Dead'' movies are just that--movies. Alternatively of course it's possible a fictional movie was made of Ash's real life experiences and that is what Nancy is watching.

* ActingForTwo: Creator/KaneHodder plays both Jason in his regular form and the FBI agent the coroner-possessed Jason kills offscreen.[[spoiler:Technically he's Acting for Three, as he his arm was the one portraying Freddy in the final scene.]]

** Producer Sean S. Cunningham has spoken out against the film in recent years, citing the body hopping plot as a terrible idea that strayed too far from the series, but stuck with it at the time because he felt that fans didn’t want to see another Jason hack & slash film again. ''[[{{Understatement}} He was wrong]]''. He also admitted that it was a bad idea to allow the young and extremely inexperienced Adam Marcus to direct the film.

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes:
** An incredibly odd example. Despite the Unrated Cut being available on previous [=LaserDisc=], VHS and even DVD releases, the official HD and Blu-ray release omitted it in favor of the more tame R-Rated Cut. The Blu-ray ''itself'', along with ''Film/JasonX'' are only available on the out of print complete collection box set and hasn’t seen a standalone release in the US. The only way to get it is through the (already hard to find) region free release from Austria. Both the Unrated Cut and Blu-ray would eventually be rescued when Shout! Factory released a Collector’s Edition in October of 2020.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The original idea for a ninth ''Friday the 13th'' film was about Jason going to LA and being an OutsideGenreFoe for two rival street gangs who unite their forces to stop him.
** The character of Elias Voorhees was supposed to appear, either as Jason's father or brother.
** There was going to be a disturbing flashback revealing that Jason and his mother had [[ParentalIncest an incestuous relationship]].
** Creator/JohnMcTiernan was asked to direct.
** Creator/TobeHooper was originally considered to direct.
** There were plans for a spin-off with Creighton Duke who would reveal that he actually survived his encounter with Jason.
** Richard Gant originally read for the role of Creighton Duke before being cast as Phil the Coroner instead.
** Tony Todd auditioned for the role of Creighton Duke, but lost out to Steven Williams.
** Originally, the roles eventually played by Leslie Jordan and Rusty Schwimmer were reversed. In the script, Shelby was a woman, while Joey B. was a man, as evidenced by the characters' names. However, once Jordan and Schwimmer had read for the roles separately and then as a duo, the producers decided to switch the characters' genders, therefore Jordan's character was originally the wife, while Schwimmer's was initially the husband.
** Laurie Holden was director Adam Marcus' and writer Dean Lorey's choice for the role of Jessica Kimble, but Sean Cunningham overruled them and pushed for Kari Keegan instead.
** Dean Lorey originally pitched his idea for a 9th movie titled "Jason Takes L.A." which was about two gang members who hate each other and fight one another as Street fighters. At one point, Jason somehow shows up and begins slaughtering people in the city and the story also features two female detectives who are tracking down Jason and his murders her creates as L.A.'s finest. This also causes the two gang members to have to team-up to take down Jason. Director, Adam Marcus hated the pitch for being the same thing audiences had already seen in the previous movies and opted to continue the body-switching concept instead. While it was never used, it was briefly discussed to be used again before choosing to bring Jason in space for Jason X (2001).
