Creator Chosen Casting is when the casting of an adaptation is influenced by the creator of the work being adapted, which in this case would be Bram Stoker; the producer of the adaptation choosing the cast isn't an example

* CreatorChosenCasting: According to producer Anthony Hinds, when it came to casting Dracula, "it never occurred to any of us to use anyone else but [[Creator/ChristopherLee Chris Lee]]".

* BillingDisplacement: Despite playing the title character, Creator/ChristopherLee is actually billed ''fourth'' in the opening credits, behind Creator/PeterCushing (who's BilledAboveTheTitle), Michael Gough, and Melissa Stribling. The closing credits list him second after Cushing.
* NoStuntDouble: Peter Cushing did the stunt where he leaps over a banister himself. He insisted on doing so, against the studio's concerns that he might injure himself.

* EditedForSyndication: When the film was shown on British TV in 1987, a few scenes had been trimmed before the broadcast. The most significant was the scene where Lucy Holmwood is staked.
* MissingEpisode: The filming of Dracula's destruction included a shot in which Dracula appears to peel away his decaying skin. This was accomplished by putting a layer of red make-up on Creator/ChristopherLee's face, and then covering his entire face with a thin coating of mortician's wax, which was then made up to conform to his normal skin tone. When he raked his fingers across the wax, it revealed the "raw" marks underneath. This startling sequence was cut out, but was restored for the 2012 Blu-ray release, using footage from a badly damaged Japanese print.

* ThrowItIn: Two involving the film's climax:
** Originally, the film's climax involved Van Helsing running over to the window and pulling down the curtains, letting in the sunlight. Creator/PeterCushing suggested having Van Helsing leap from a balcony to pull down the curtains, with himself doing the stunt. Due to budget and safety concerns, they compromised with a long table rather than a balcony, and a stunt man rather than Cushing.
** Van Helsing was to then pull a crucifix out of his pocket to drive Dracula into the sunlight. Creator/PeterCushing objected to using the crucifix, since he'd left one in Dracula's casket in an earlier scene, and he didn't want to seem like he was a "crucifix salesman" with an endless supply. So, he came up with the idea of using the candlesticks as a cross.
