** If you pre-purchased the game on UsefulNotes/{{Steam}}, you got three weapon [skins] from ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2''. The [[http://images.wikia.com/saintsrow/images//Weapon_-_Explosives_-_RPG_-_TF2_RPG_-_Default.jpg main rocket launcher]] for the Soldier, the [[http://images.wikia.com/saintsrow/images/b/ba/Weapon_-_Special_-_Incinerator_-_Main.jpg main flame thrower]] for the Pyro, and also for the Pyro the [[http://images.wikia.com/saintsrow/images//Weapon_-_Melee_-_Incinerator_-_TF2_Rainblower.jpg Rainblower]] alternate weapon.

* The [[Film/BackToTheFuture clock tower]] in the 50s simulation is stuck at 10:04 and has a cable running from it to a nearby pole.

** The name "Quarter Circle Forward + A", as well as the taunt itself reference Ryu's [[KamehameHadoken Hadoken]] from ''VideoGame/StreetFighter.'' [[Creator/LauraBailey Female Voice 1]] even throws shouts "Spinning Bird Punch" to reference Chun-Li.

** One of the helmets is lifted directly from [[WesternAnimation/ToyStory Buzz Lightyear]].

* CID in particular could pass for a relative of [[VideoGame/{{Portal 2}} Wheatley]]. Also, he's in spaaaaace.

* The nuke-climbing section near the start, the flying-a-spaceship-through-another-spaceship section, as well as Zinyak's appearance and tendency to telepathically hold the protagonist, are somewhat reminiscent of ''VideoGame/{{Halo 4}}''.
** The nuke-climbing and -disarming sequence, with Music/{{Aerosmith}}'s "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" playing, is an obvious ShoutOut to ''Film/{{Armageddon}}'', involving a similar sacrifice to manually detonate a nuke, instead of disarming one.

* So the prologue alone has ''Literature/PrideAndPrejudice'', ''Film/ConanTheBarbarian1982'', ''Film/{{Predator}}'', ''Film/{{Armageddon}}'', and ''Film/ZeroDarkThirty''. Good start.

* Sometimes when Female Voice 3 shuts down a Hotspot, she'll yell "[[WesternAnimation/PorkyPig Th-th-th-that's all, Folks!]]"

* Near the top of the tower in Rosen Oaks, there the Boss can find a Salem, a flying broom with stirrups that operates like a hover bike, and looks like something from the ''Franchise/HarryPotter'' universe.

* In "Psychosomatic," the Boss and the Shaundis face a horde of duplicate Veteran Childs with superpowers, each of whom grow stronger when one of their number is killed. Minus an AlternateDimension angle, that's the premise of ''Film/TheOne''.

* The LotusEaterMachine setting is a parody of the ''Film/TheMatrix'' film series. This part of the game even had a WorkingTitle of "''Enter the Dominatrix''" back when it was going to be a DLC ExpansionPack for ''VideoGame/SaintsRowTheThird''. The QTE to finish off a Warden involves you flying into its chest and exploding it from inside the same way Neo destroys Agent Smith in the first ''Matrix''.

** The sound effects to powering up your jump and the sounds as you super sprint are very similar to those used in Franchise/TheMatrix sequels as Neo jumps into his super flight and flies at super speeds (similarly having cars and other debris caught in his wake).

* The Anime DLC pack adds costumes and hairstyles that can turn your character into the spitting image of ''[[Anime/FinalFantasyVIIAdventChildren Advent Children]]''-era [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII Cloud Strife]] (complete with a {{BFS}}) and Mine from AkameGaKill
