** The SS ''Tsiokovsky'' ''Tsiolkovsky'' is named for [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konstantin_Tsiolkovsky Konstantin Tsiolkovsky]], an early rocket scientist.scientist[[note]]He is famous for devising the famous rocketry equation that [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsiolkovsky_rocket_equation bears his name]], which is used to calculate not only how much fuel you need to move a ship and it's cargo, but how much you need to move the fuel that is also taking up space and weight (aka, the more fuel you need, the more fuel needed to ''move'' that fuel, and so on)[[/note]].

Is there an issue? Send a MessageReason:
the episode does not say that that is what polywater is; and the tractor beam issue is just a discontinuity, not a retcon

* {{Retcon}}:
** The ''Enterprise'' looking like the movie version has already been mentioned, but the episode also changed polywater from "The Naked Time's" form of water (as the then-cutting edge scientific concept of polywater said it was) to a kind of virus which for unexplained reasons is called polywater (as polywater had turned out to not actually be possible in the early '70s).
** Tractor beam technology in this episode is initially only able to pull, not push, until Wesley invents a new technique to make the tractor beam bidirectional. In the original series, set nearly a century prior, the tractor beam already had this capability. Apparently the Federation lost the technology somewhere in-between ''[[Recap/StarTrekS2E2WhoMournsForAdonais Who Mourns For Adonais]]'' and this episode.
