* Creator/JRRTolkien's ''Literature/TheFallOfNumenor'': Ancalimë was raised in her mother's country state Emerië until her father Aldarion demanded that she was brought to the capital of Númenor, Armenelos, to be raised as befitting the Kings Heiress. Nonetheless, she did not like the city, missing the countryside to the point of being unable to sleep peacefully without hearing the sounds of sheeps. Even so, Ancalimë stopped going to Emerië after her husband played a prank on her, since she was unwilling to stay in the place where everybody witnessed her humiliation.

* ''Film/{{Disenchanted}}'' In this film, Morgan fits the Plot B character trope to a tee, as she hates moving to the suburbs, and initially has ire with the situation. However over the course of the movie, she develops a love with her new life, falls in love with the villain's son, and has an Aesop, better appreciating her family.

* ''Literature/MansfieldPark'': Much of the conflict arises when the fashionable London-loving Crawford siblings arrive at the quiet, retiring country estate of Mansfield Park. Mary and Henry are both unfamiliar with life in the countryside and bring in a lack of morals that has disastrous effects on the Mansfield family. Henry's shameless flirtation with the Bertram sisters and Mary's falling in love with Edmund but refusing to respect his chosen profession (or really, treat ''anything'' with respect) end up causing a lot of heartbreak. Although Edmund's attempt to blame all of it on the shallow and mercenary social scene of London is him trying to rationalize away Mary's behavior, the narration implies that town life does no good for a person's character.

* ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnline'': Kyouko Yuuki was born to a farming family in a small village in the Japanese countryside. She's now a professor at a prestigious Tokyo university but in the ''Mother's Rosario'' arc, we see that her rural background is still a point of shame for her, no matter how hard she pretends otherwise.

* ''Series/PerfectStrangers'' was mostly about CountryMouse Balki Bartokomous moving to Chicago and living with his American cousin Larry Appleton, Balki remains a FishOutOfWater throughout the series, but unlike other examples, Balki takes to city life quite well.
** Played straight in that any episode where it came down to Balki's CountryMouse methods vs. Larry's CityMouse methods, Balki's would almost always succeed and Larry's would fail.
