* No Quarter: Vree's killing of Edite i'Oceania near the beginning of the book has elements of this(mainly over her acting wholly on her own initiative and being hailed as a hero for bringing down a feared pirate, rather than being studiously ignored as an anonymous 'Blade of Jiir' as she fulfills military directives). However a more unambiguous example is her climbing down an unstable seaside cliff to extract a woman from the wreckage of what was a house on the edge and was at that point not only twenty feet or so down but about to plummet another fifty into the pounding surf, mainly because someone saw her moving minutes ago and she has never actually left anyone to die.
-->*Are you sure you can do this?*\\
*I could do this in the dark under the noses of guards who would desperately like to kill me.*\\
*Yeah, but can you do it in the daylight under the noses of people who desperately want you to succeed?*\\
*First time for everything.*

* Set up by the BigBad in Film/UpUpAndAway to capture a superhero. In fact, he uses his WellIntentionedExtremist partner as a DistressedDamsel (against her will). This happens on Scott's 14th birthday, when a bunch of superheroes gather at the Marshalls' to celebrate not only the event but also Scott becoming a superhero. Except it's all a ruse by Scott, who is a MuggleBornOfMages and is afraid to disappoint everyone (the only one who knows is his grandfather, who sees right through the ruse). So when they see the report about a woman trapped in a burning building, one of their friends suggests that Scott make this his first rescue. Since Scott doesn't really have powers, he rides his bicycle to the site, runs past the cops and the firemen, and nearly dies along with the girl. His father flies in just in time to rescue them both after finding out the truth from his own father.
