* Peppino Spaghetti, the main hero of VideoGame/PizzaTower, while far from incompetent in his adventure, is an anxiety-ridden wreck of a human being who's manhandled by the tower's many terrors as often as he smashes through them. Even in boss fights, he's screaming and quacking in terror. Come the final boss against Pizzaface, after looking at his restaurant from afar, he gains enough determination to glare down the diabolical deep dish, let out a battle cry, and spends the fight fuming in rage with nary his usual anxiety in sight. [[spoiler: And when the final boss tries to initiate a BossRush, the man loses his shit, unleashing a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown to end all beatdowns and utterly annihalates everything in his way.]]

** Amy Rose at the end of her story in VideoGame/SonicAdventure. After spending the majority of her story evading E-100 ZERO's attempts at capturing/killing her while trying to help her Flicky companion find their parents, she's finally driven to actually fight back when said bird ends up in the crossfire of another assault. Interestingly, this moment ends up changing her outlook on how she handles herself and how people treat her in turn and over time she becomes much more pro-active and competent as a fighter and as a hero.

* VideoGame/LikeADragon: Goro Majima is a downplayed example, since he is never portrayed as anything less than absolutely lethal. That said, Majima can usually be found wisecracking, joking about, leaping into fights cackling like a madman and generally acting like what is going on is the greatest party ever. When Majima goes quiet and focuses, however... then he's pulling out the stops. He no longer cares about maintaining his "Mad Dog" reputation, or about having fun. He's just going to straight up murder whoever gets in his way.

However, in VideoGame/MetalGearSolid4, when his LoveInterest was put in danger, he reminds the player and Solid Snake that he is, in fact, a 10 year veteran in an elite military unit.
