But come on; there's a huge difference between bumbling through the Katrina disaster and leaving a town to die! The movie in general seems to propose that America was horrible and racist under W, but Obama made racism go away.
** Also, why are so many of the white characters so terrible? For a movie that's trying to show that racism is bad and we need to be more accepting of each other, many of the white characters veer into Snidely Whiplash levels of discrimination and villainy. Instead of maybe showing these characters as conflicted, nuanced people, they just appear to torment Khan and do little else.
