** During an FBI bust, an undercover fed disguised as a waiter whips out some chucks and does a twirl before knocking a mafia goon unconscious, then strangles another goon with the chain while reading him his rights.
** While learning martial arts, Bruce starts waving around some numchucks without being trained for it and breaks a PricelessMingVase, so gets thrown out of the class. When he tries to return the numchucks, the old master tells Bruce to keep them and practice with them...in the closet!
** Bruce uses the chucks against a store robber, [[WhatTheFuAreYouDoing knocking out both the robber and himself]].
** A street thug who challenges Bruce does an IntimidationDemonstration with his chucks. Fortunately Bruce is able to talk him into fighting another thug. Then when two police officers see the chucks and threaten to arrest Bruce, he pretends they're his chopsticks.
** While dressed as a ninja, Anita wields a three-stick flail version.

* InterchangeableAsianCultures: Parodied; the protagonist is Korean, but his boss calls him "[[Creator/BruceLee Bruce]]" because RacialFaceBlindness. Given that 'Bruce' is a GenreSavvy fan of martial arts movies, he has no problem playing the role to make himself look cooler, whether pretending to be a Chinese kung fu warrior or a Japanese samurai.

* GratuitousNinja: During a BarBrawl, Anita steps into a phone booth and does a ''Series/WonderWoman'' twirl that transforms her into a ninja who proceeds to kick everyone's butts. Foreshadowed in her first action scene when uses a [[StockNinjaWeaponry shuriken]] to take down a gun-wielding Mafia mook.

* YourHeadASplode: The Chicago mafia asks a hitman who's a NightmareFetishist how he plans to kill Bruce. After enthusiastically demonstrating various methods on a store dummy, the silenced pistol with explosive bullets that blows up its head gets their unanimous approval.

* LooksLikeSheIsEnjoyingIt: Anita and Karmen are fighting each other, smashing up the motel room Bruce is using (Bruce is in the shower unaware). Next door his friend Freddy is with a HighClassCallGirl who's impressed with all the noise Bruce is apparently making, and tells Freddy to get Bruce to call her next time. Freddy goes next door and finds Bruce coming out of the shower and [[NotWhatItLooksLike two women unconscious from exhaustion in his bed]]. He decides his friend has had enough DestructoNookie for one night and insists they leave.

* AppropriatedAppellation: TheNameless protagonist works as the cook for a mob boss who calls him "Bruce" after Creator/BruceLee because AllAsiansAreAlike. So he starts calling himself Bruce, leading to a RunningGag of people assuming he knows Kung Fu if he's called by that name.

''They Call Me Bruce'' (also known as ''They Call Me Bruce?'') is a 1982 American action comedy directed by Creator/ElliottHong that has a Korean man (Creator/JohnnyYune) being mistaken for a martial arts expert due to being named after Creator/BruceLee. Things are further complicated when he's used by TheMafia as an unwitting courier for a shipment of drugs.

In 1987 a sequel was made ''They Still Call Me Bruce'' (also known as ''A Fistful of Chopsticks'').

* JiveTurkey: Bruce and Freddy run into trouble with a New York street gang. Bruce tries using a book titled ''Jive Talkin''' by Yo Mama to speak their language. They're not impressed at first, but end up teaching Bruce how to teach jive properly.

* GenreSavvy: Bruce is the proverbial FunnyForeigner getting used to our strange American ways, but as he's a fan of martial arts movies he has no problem playing up the role, whether a [[InterchangeableAsianCultures Chinese Kung Fu master or Japanese Samurai warrior]].

** Bruce uses the chucks against a store robber, knocking out both the robber and himself.
