** A couple of episodes in the film have parallels in LTC Rolt's ''Literature/RailwayAdventure'' though - notably the scene where the passengers refill the locomotive's water tanks from a nearby cottage using pots and pans. There's also some truth in the central conceit of using the ancient "Thunderbolt" to keep the line running - there were periods in the Talyllyn Railway's history where the only available motive power was the extremely elderly, worn-out locomotive "Dolgoch".
