Escavalier are almost always used as highly noble and kind characters and are regularly seen in media based in medieval times usually as knights jousting in a tournament. Probably the most famous roles Escavalier have been seen in are depictions of the life of King Arthur playing the role of Arthur’s friend and the Queen’s champion Sir Lancelot. Among the most famous of these being a [[Film/KingArthur modern movie]] and [[Series/Merlin2008 a successful TV show that reimagined the characters as being much younger]]. Karrablast are almost non-existent in media though they may occasionally be depicted as squires to Escavallier.

!!Physical Description
Karrablast and Escavalier are a pair of coleopteran Pokémon that despite being related by evolution have dramatically different appearances.
Karrablast is a small, bipedal, ovular Pokémon with a mostly blue carapace which leads to a horn on its head. Its ridged underbelly is yellow in colouration and its small stubby arms and legs are black. Karrablast’s face is black in colouration with a small teal patch on their forehead and consists of a small mouth with two fangs and a pair of orange pupiled eyes with yellow scleras.

Escavalier on the other hand looks similar to a medieval knight’s helmet though if one looks closely they can see the body it had as a Karrablast within the armour. During evolution to Escavalier its arms have become significantly longer and now end in an armoured protrusion similar in appearance to a medieval lance with two red stripes around its length and a red tip and possess disks of armour around their shoulders. Its legs now rest inside the spiral part of a Shelmets shell which has grown a red point similar to a boats rudder from the bottom. On its head it now wears the visor of a Shelmets shell as a helmet. The horn it had as a Karrablast has fused to the helmet and has become a red crest on top of its helmet.

Karrablast stand at between 30 and 60 cm and weigh between 4 and 7 kg though individuals that are smaller or larger do exist. During evolution they double in size now being between 85cm and 1.2m in height and its weight has increased almost 6 fold with Escavalier now weighing between 25 and 40 kg. Most of this weight gain is due to it gaining Steel- type characteristics during evolution.

!!Unique Evolution
Like the Shelmet line the Karrablast Line has a very unique evolution requirement. In order for Karrablast to evolve into Escavalier it must undergo electrical stimulation while in close proximity to a Shelmet during which the Karrablast will basically steal Shelmets shell to use as its armour. The easiest way for this situation to occur is through the use of a trade machine and it almost never happens in the wild except in the very rare situation that a Karrablast and Shelmet are struck by lightning while in close proximity. It is interesting to note that if either the Karrablast or Shelmet is holding an Everstone neither Pokémon will evolve, the only situation where this will occur, the Everstone will normally only affect the Pokémon holding it during a trade not the trade partner as well. The reason for this is still being researched.

!!Notable Biology
Karrablast possess a small poison sac with which it can learn to use the move Toxic with some coaching. It also possess small tubes that run from this poison sac to the tip of its horn allowing it to pump the poison from its sac to its horn in order to use the move Poison Jab with some tutoring. They can also spit an acidic liquid from their mouths when they feel threatened.

As an Escavalier the tubes from its poison sac now lead to the tips of its lances. As mentioned above Escavalier is clad in the armour it stole from Shelmet allowing it when threatened to close up its armour to protect its soft body within. This armour also allows it to use the move Iron Head by ramming the foe with its helmeted head.

As with most Pokémon there are three distinct sub-groups of this line that each show different abilities. The first sub-group produce large amounts of adrenaline when in stressful situations which allows them to increase the power of their Bug-type moves; this is known to trainers as the “Swarm” ability. The second sub-group possess as Karrablast the “Shed Skin” ability; this means they have the ability to shed their carapace whenever they feel rather than at regular intervals. In the wild they can use this to escape from predators and as a result during battle they can recover quickly from status conditions, though this isn’t guaranteed to work and it may take a while for it to loosen its carapace enough to shed it during which time it will still feel the effects of the conditions. As an Escavalier members of the second sub-group possess larger stronger armour that prevents the foe from hitting a critical part of its body and dealing extra damage; this is known to trainers as the “Shell Armour” ability. As Karrablast the third sub-group possess what is termed the “No Guard” ability once thought to be unique to the Machop line until Karrablast and the members of the Golett line were discovered to be able to have it. These members fight much closer to their opponents than other members of the species making it impossible for either their opponent or themselves to dodge attacks and making shielding moves such as Protect ineffective due to Karrablast fighting within the shields radius. As Escavalier these members exhibit the “Overcoat” ability, these members have thicker armour that prevents them from taking damage in hail or sandstorm weather conditions, though it should be noted that as a Steel- type Escavalier doesn’t take damage from sandstorm conditions anyway.

As with all Pokémon there are members that exhibit a rare phenotype that changes their colours. As a Karrablast these members possess a bluish-green carapace with a lime green stomach and green sclera. As Escavalier these members possess light brown armour and pink where there is usually red and the body within the armour shows the same colours as a shiny Karrablast.
It should be noted that trading with a “shiny” Shelmet will not give a “shiny” Escavalier so do not waste your time.

!!Habitat
Karrablast prefer to live in forests where they are plenty of trees for them to make their nest in. The forests around Routes 6 and 11 being their favourites though members have been spotted in the forests surrounding the Moor of Icirrus. As it is rare for Karrablast to evolve in the wild it is not known where wild Escavalier live though it can be assumed that they live in similar areas to Karrablast but deeper. It is also possible they move to caves where they can train with their lances in relative safety or that they live a nomadic life seeking opponents.

!!Diet
Karrablast mostly eat small insects especially snails, though their favourite is Shelmet. Like all Pokémon Karrablast are perfectly happy eating berries and specially made Pokémon food though trainers should either carry some snails as treats or let Karrablast find some of its own as this will keep it happy.

Due to their rarity in the wild it is unknown what Escavalier eat in the wild though it is presumed they hunt larger versions of what Karrablast does as well as small birds, lizards and mammals. It should be noted that while Escavalier hunt Accelgor the same way their pre-evolved form hunts Shelmet is not for food but rather to fight a worthy opponent. As with Karrablast, in captivity Escavalier is perfectly happy eating berries and Pokémon food.

!!Hazards
As a Karrablast it is important to be careful of the fact they will spit an acidic liquid when they feel threatened. This acid can cause a painful injury if it gets on skin and should be washed with clean water immediately and any clothing that was hit removed immediately. In the event that this liquid gets in the eyes they should be washed with clean water straight away before calling emergency services as if not treated quickly it can lead to blindness. Trainers should be mindful of the sharp horns on Karrablast’s heads as they can cause bad cuts and stab wounds when Karrablast uses its headbutt attack which it will should the acid fail.

The main dangers surrounding Escavalier is the fact that the tips of their lances are very sharp and can easily stab right through a human’s abdomen. The other danger is their ability to hit opponents with great force which can easily knock out a human and leave a bad concussion though they are quite noble Pokémon and will rarely attack humans unless highly provoked.

!!Social Structure
Karrablast tend to live in small groups for protection from predators with them all living in the same tree hollow. This however does not mean they feel any closeness to the others in the group as members of the group will gladly disappear if another is being attacked or eaten and leave the poor Karrablast to their fate by using the distraction it causes the predator to escape to safety.
In the wild Escavalier tend to live alone though this may have more to do with their rarity in the wild than personal preference. Those few that have been discovered seem to move from location to location looking for fellow Escavalier and other worthy opponents such as Accelgor and members of the Pawniard line to battle.

!!Courting
Both members of this line are capable of breeding and both will do so in the wild. In the wild Karrablast will give off pheromones to indicate they are ready to mate with males usually competing for the chance to mate with a female. The male and female will then engage in a complex dialogue before mating and may not mate if they do not perform the pre-copulatory ritual. When mating does begin it is usually short with the male quickly depositing his sperm in the female though in some cases the mating can last for several hours.

Due to their rarity in the wild Escavalier will mate with other members of the Bug egg group at any time though if they meet an Escavalier of the opposite sex they will breed immediately with the female laying around two dozen eggs on the underside of leaves about a week later.
